Where did you get these books?
Forensics delivered them.
Wait, wait, wait.
It's August 26th, 10.30 p.m. Kent has arrived.
Can we talk now?
Look at them. Dark stuff.
I'm pulling out the first one, title, The Discovery Hour.
Hmm, it gets better.
Another title, Black Magic.
magic. Here, there's no whole printout. This is just one box. There were three full boxes discovered.
The printout has all the titles. Titles include The Woods, the Salem Witch Trials, Witchcraft, Villager Hearth, History of Connecticut, History of Virginia, History of Massachusetts, History of Florida, The 109, Docking Party, Colonial Times, Colonial Times,
Times, Burning Cross, all of them witches...
You can read the list later. Look.
I scanned through a couple. I had Paul help me.
We stumbled on this. It came from the witchcraft book.
Apparently, the number 13 is pretty popular.
It's a sign of the many. The mini being the witches.
13 is a magic number that lays all these groups all over the country.
I mean, through texts.
There's records showing that people who believed in witches knew that the number 13 was
signifier for, well, heinous activity, shall we say?
Meaning.
Meaning, any time the number 13 would appear scrawled on a paper or carved onto a tree,
there would be a massive witch hunt. Start as far back as the early 1800s.
Where does the number originate?
It was hard to find. Paul's still helping. One of the boxes is his house.
I did find that 13 was used in many rituals when it comes to spells,
you know, like ingredients. Also, there were a few places, some small town in Massachusetts,
Asheville, maybe. And in Connecticut, outside of what's now a small town of Cornwall,
13 people were hanged. They were all women. I'll believe to be witches.
Why is that?
Who knows?
I mean, why did they hang 13?
Told you, the sign of the many. There's some texts that say if people believe there was one witch around
that usually meant there were 12 others, hiding.
Any of the texts mentioned Florida?
No, not other than the history of Florida book, which has nothing.
Nothing of interest, unless you want to visit the Everglades soon, or Universal Studios.
Okay, so Patricia Sanders writes 13 all over the walls.
Just like her sister said she did.
Why? Did she believe there are witches in Rutherford?
She burned crosses into her body.
Maybe she thought she was one.
Maybe she thought she was possessed.
That too.
Exorcism is still a thing.
They're not common.
They don't have to be.
Listen, I brought a box here.
Thought you might like to start looking through this stuff.
I have a box at my place, too.
The paper here?
Scan copies of the books I've gone through.
Paul, too.
Besides, the number 13 bit, I haven't found anything else of interest.
Of course I'll go through it.
I'll start tonight.
Are you going to be in tomorrow?
No.
Paul and I are visiting his parents in the morning.
I could be at around noon, but I figured I...
Okay.
Do you need me to come in?
No, no, that's fine.
Okay, well, I'm going then.
Just came by to drop us off.
Thanks.
Red light.
Looks like your battery's dying.
Shoot.
Thank you.
