Starting point is 00:29:35 So side note here, I actually feel so terrible for Georgia fans because I don't think I've ever seen anything like that in sports where a team, you, you lose in the national championship in a heartbreaking fashion, you, you, you're killing Jalen Hertz to a comes in, explodes on offense, beat you in the national championship all year. You plan to beat Tua in the SEC championship all year. You're like redemption to is terrible. You're beating Tua. You're dominating the game.

Starting point is 00:30:04 He gets hurt and then Jalen Hertz comes in and beat you and they even said it. They're like, we, like, we weren't ready to transition to a quarterback like him. Yeah. And it's just like, you can't have fate like that work. I felt so happy for Jalen Hertz and I, I do hate though that like all the coaches are now going to use this to keep all their recruits longer. This is why I shouldn't transfer, buddy. They're going to fuck over so many kids by being look at Jalen Hertz story.

Starting point is 00:30:25 He was a loyal, he was a loyal teammate. Don't ever transfer. I'm just going to keep you third string for all four years. You're never going to play. I want to see Tyler Murray play against Alabama. And what I don't understand, Kirk Herbst, he just kept on making this argument all weekend. He's like, Georgia, Georgia. They played the toughest schedule, Georgia.

Starting point is 00:31:13 Okay. They played the toughest schedule. They lost to the two best teams they played. So if you just play the toughest schedule and lose to the best teams you played, that's still the toughest schedule. Yeah. Okay. It is still the toughest schedule.

Starting point is 00:31:24 Would you not, do you not want to see someone else get a crack at Alabama? Honestly, I'm just fucking around. Yeah, I know. I know you are. I'm not, I'm not a Georgia guy. I think they, they got it right. They were in the playoff. They could beat Alabama.

Starting point is 00:31:34 Exactly. This word, this was essentially a playoff game for them and they lost and it sucked the way that they lost, but it's also kind of funny. Oh, it's, it's, there's some dark humor. I want to see, I want to see more UCF hate. I want to see more like national champs again. Yeah. So it was going to be them.

Starting point is 00:31:51 Yeah. Yeah. So the LSU beats UCF. They're the national champs. They're the co-national champs. You remember back in like, you remember back in like the, the early nineties when the system was so fucked up that you'd have like three different teams claiming they were the national champions.

Starting point is 00:32:04 I, I, I think we should go back to the beat here. I know, but I tweeted this as kind of a joke, but it's not really a joke. Like would anyone hate if we just did the BCS bowl this year and just Alabama and Clemson? Yeah. It's, it's going to be Alabama Clemson. Let's just go to the BCS, Alabama Clemson. I, I miss having computers involved in the whole thing, like running their simulations. Everyone kind of just doesn't really understand what's going on.

Starting point is 00:32:25 Yeah. It was basically like Ken Pomeroy in a room with a bottle of ether and a spreadsheet. And then he'd be like, ah, this is number one. This seems right. And the best part about the BCS was it was weighted so that the margin of victory mattered so much that teams would just kick this shit out of each other. Like, oh, we're up 80. We're still going to throw.

Starting point is 00:32:45 So I do miss that, but I'm excited for the college football plan. Obviously, I wish it was eight teams. I think we all do. Right. Well, here's the thing. There is some, there's some merit to the argument that once we make it eight teams, then we start arguing about, well, this ninth and 10th place team are better than the seventh and eight team.

Starting point is 00:33:01 I get it. And also I was reading this article that was basically like listen, they're never going to go to, they're not going to go to eight teams for a while because ESPN controls this whole thing. And if they go to eight teams, people will start to like the popularity of these, of the four team playoff will start to wane a little because it would be, you know, like Washington would be playing UCF or something, you know what I mean? In the middle of December and then they would get fatigue on it, which I don't buy.

Starting point is 00:33:26 No, I don't buy that at all. Right. But like, do you get fatigue when it's the final four? I already saw the road to 64. Well, we're hardcore football fans. They're talking about like the average Joe is not going to care about them. I don't want their money anyway. Yeah.

Starting point is 00:33:40 They're not going to care about UCF playing against, you know, Washington or whatever it may be, whatever. However, I'm going to shake out, but I do love the people who think it's still a hot take to be like, they should go to eight. Yeah. No shit, dude. We all agree. FCS does 16 teams and they make it work somehow.

Starting point is 00:33:53 Yeah. That's because they play one less game in the regular season or two less games. So let me ask you this. They would get rid of, they may have to get rid of the conference champion. If they did a six. Yeah. That's what I was going to ask. If they did a 16 team playoff and got rid of all the conference championship games,

Starting point is 00:34:08 would you be in favor of that? No, because I wish I, no, I wouldn't. I still like the conference championship. I think I would. I, I want eight teams, automatic. Everyone's always like, I don't want automatic bids. No, I want automatic bids because if Pitt or Northwestern had somehow pulled an upset, it would have been the funniest thing ever.

Starting point is 00:34:25 Yeah. Like if Northwestern was playing against Alabama in the first round of the playoffs, that would have been hilarious. So shut up. Anyone who disagrees with that. I want funny, weird, like crazy things like the March Madness tournament. There's a mark or Mike Greenberg's dumb rules for UCF. If they, who are they playing?

Starting point is 00:34:40 Are they playing a LSU? LSU. That's right. If they beat LSU, which they're not going to, we're not saying they're up, but if they were to beat LSU by double digits, don't put any bullets in board shit out there. They should get a shot at the national champion. Yeah. That's, I've always thought like, where's the billionaire?

Starting point is 00:35:44 In Oklahoma, lost to Texas. And then by three, and then they beat Texas. But the last thing, Jalen Hertz, back to his story, very happy for him. He's going to be the classic, like not going to do anything in the NFL, but just be an Alabama legend forever. He'll do autograph signings for so much money for the rest of his life. Is he going to be the all time winning his quarterback? I don't think so.

So yeah, it was very cool seeing Jalen get like a little bit of redemption out there. And then you can go back and look at some of his tweets from when he got like the number two job. And he was saying that like God always has a plan and you'll be surprised when things work out in the end.

Starting point is 00:36:33 So you're saying God's real? Yeah. Well, of course, dude. His name's Nick Saban. Oh dude, when he almost cried, that was the weirdest thing ever. Yeah. His voice cracked for one second and it's like, it's like your dad's saying, I love you. It's like, what's going on?

Starting point is 00:36:53 My who's back of the week is corrupt judges in boxing. Oh, okay. This is a big heavyweight fight this weekend while they're versus Fury. Fury basically got knocked out in the final round. It was awesome. He was dead. To snap back to the world. To snap back to the world.

Starting point is 00:37:06 Like it was the undertaker gift in real life. Somehow came back to life and then everyone that watched it kind of thought he lost, but it was still a split decision. No, no, no. People are upset. Fury. No, not while they're lost. Yeah.

Starting point is 00:37:19 While they're lost. Yeah. Boxing sucks like that. It's just so stupid. Every single time you think you're going to watch a great, like it was a great fight, but then they ruin it. I still get why, like how they haven't fixed the corruption. I don't, I don't know.

Starting point is 00:37:31 Because they don't think they're corrupt. They have nobody to answer to except their own pocketbooks. Because that's just the way they've always done it. And they need, yeah. And they need a rematch because they're like, hey, we could either select one winner and then have them challenge somebody that we don't know. And then we're not going to make as much money or we could just do this exact same fight again and make a shitload of money.

Starting point is 00:37:48 Right. And we could have like four different belts and who knows what belt they're actually even fighting. Yeah. We'll invent a new belt next time. The only heavy, the only heavyweight title fight that has six belts at stake in the history of boxing. Yes.

Starting point is 00:38:02 Uh, then my other who's back, you guys mentioned earlier, but the office cast once again had another reunion and I'm now just going to call my shot that within six months it will be rebooted. They're just fucking with us now. Well, did you see who wasn't in it? Yeah. They didn't have Jim, which snooze fest. They also didn't have Michael Scott though.

Starting point is 00:38:20 So where was Michael Scott? Probably working. Yeah, that's probably. He's probably working on a trillion dollar big budget movie. That's probably true. Yeah. He's actually, he doesn't just live off this one character that he had, you know, ten years ago.

So we got the army Navy game coming up this weekend and we're going to get that stat line where it's like army has attempted four passes and has three interceptions and 17 army throws now. No, they throw now. I don't, I don't think they're going to pass the ball against Navy. They throw. Okay.

Starting point is 00:40:07 They do. It's crazy. Navy. They're army. They're a ground game. They throw now. It's great. It's wild.

And then on top of all those people, you have the guys who are like, you can't make a joke on Twitter for an hour after someone, someone has died. That's, yeah. Are you serious? Like, can you guys have a little respect? Like we tweeted that from the part of my take account, goodbye to no nut November.

Starting point is 00:43:21 And someone was like, George, he should be Bush just died. It's like, well, can't make any jokes. Guess what? We're going to, it's the old, it's the old, the true willers. We're going to live the rest of our lives without them. Like, can you believe it? Can you believe it? People die all the time and not saying anything about this particular death, but death Twitter

Starting point is 00:43:36 in general sucks. What's crazy is, uh, in the age of the internet, how much quicker too soon has like ended. Yeah. So like too soon, it's not, you have like an hour. It's like 45 minutes, 45 minutes to an hour where any jokes about the individual, it's too soon. Right. And then after that, it's like, okay.

That was actually done by Pardon My Take. Well, let's start there because Mike, I read the news on your website and it did not credit

Starting point is 00:49:09 Pardon My Take. So what are your editorial standards exactly over there? I don't know. I was working at the time. I was on the air. One of my colleagues wrote the story. You know, it was a... I don't know when you guys reported it, but it was announced by the Packers right as we

Starting point is 00:49:25 started football night in America. So I don't know what the time lag was. I can tell you. I don't know if you're getting like the chefty. No, I haven't. You get the chefty five minute heads up. I haven't. We reported it.

Starting point is 00:49:33 PFT got an anonymous DM. We reported from the Pardon My Take Twitter account and also added the Joe Philbin little wrinkle there. And then about 15 minutes later, Schefter had it and Rappaport had it and then the Packers had it. So we actually... We fired Mike McCarthy before the Packers did. Well, I tell you what, very impressed and big J all around.

Starting point is 00:49:56 Well done. And I'm sorry that we did not give you appropriate credit. So in an actual honest question here, we do this thing where when we get a tip like that, we will tweet something, but leave enough wiggle room that we can be like, haha, it was just a joke. Enough wiggle room. Yeah. So...

Starting point is 00:50:15 All things wiggle room. No. No. Yeah. And it was pretty, pretty ironclad. But do you guys, when you see something like that, do you ever think like, hey, maybe I should credit these guys or maybe I should follow up on it or are you like, they're full of shit always?

Starting point is 00:50:27 We're trying to get our stripes. Yeah. I don't be in a lot because I know sometimes you guys are right, but every time there is that wiggle room in there, and here's the problem in all seriousness, the problem that we have is if you guys are wrong, you guys have the right attitude, you've got the right style, you guys can get away with being wrong. If it ends up being wrong, you're going to laugh it off. If we are wrong and if we even use somebody else who's wrong, it sticks to us.

Starting point is 00:50:52 And I learned that when Terry Bradshaw died in 2007. You killed him. Yeah. When you murdered him. Yeah. I think you kind of hit the nail on the head. We are very good at being wrong and incorrect about things. That's like the best thing that we do.

Starting point is 00:51:05 Yeah. But like with the real news of the story, so McCarthy's fired, Phil been stepping up. The Packers are obviously going to look to get a head start on the job search. What names, if you were to make a shortlist right now, if you were to give me three names, who should I be looking at to coach the Packers next year? What without question, the first name, and I think the only name, and I think you guys will approve of this one because he will be drinking green and gold paint for as long as he can until he drops dead.

Starting point is 00:51:35 I say Bruce Aaron has already been making noise about coaching the Browns about the Packers. I want Arians because I need somebody who's going to get through to Rogers. I predicted in the next few weeks, some of these Sunday splash reports that we see will be unnamed sources pushing back toward Rogers away from McCarthy and blaming Rogers for some of the things that have gone on and that Rogers is hard to coach, that Rogers is hard to reach. All facts.

Starting point is 00:51:58 All facts. Well, and Bruce Arians is going to be the kind of guy. The reason he's coming to the Bottle of Scotch, because I think Aaron Rodgers has mentioned having a Scotch like seven or eight times this year after a game. So, Arians will show up with a Bottle of Scotch, they'll drain it, Arians will drink him under the table to gain respect, and Arians will be able to get through to him and get the most out of him because they made the investment in Rogers. They need somebody who can work with Rogers, and his body language today was horrible.

Starting point is 00:52:25 He seems disinterested, and they need somebody who's going to get him fully interested and fully engaged. I think Arians is the best guy to do it. Okay. So, I always am interested how this all went down. I saw that report that Mike McCarthy was stunned, which is incredible to me. That's stunning. Yes.

Starting point is 00:52:40 I'm surprised. I'm surprised. I also noticed that Aaron Rodgers shaved his beard, maybe guilty conscience much. So how did it go down? Did Aaron Rodgers fire him? Who fired Mike McCarthy? How'd that conversation go down? Well, I think this thing, and I don't know any of the details yet.

Starting point is 00:52:54 I saw that Chef D reported that he was surprised when he went in and got the news that he'd been fired. But I think this thing's been coming. It's been building. And once you know that you're making the change, why wait, right? Go out and get a head start on finding your next head coach. If you know you're making a change, now you can start working the back channel, the front channel, every channel to find out who's going to be interested in the job, because it should

Starting point is 00:53:15 be a desirable job. And you've got two openings right now. Both have franchise quarterbacks. One's young, one's 35, but for those reasons, right, that's your best chance to win with a great quarterback. And that's going to be the challenge for both teams. Find the right guy for the browser, the packers, the right guy to come in and get the most out of the quarterback.

Starting point is 00:53:33 And don't be surprised if McCarthy's name ends up at the top of the list in Cleveland. Okay. So what you just said, I agree with you. If you're going to fire the guy, if you know you're going to fire the guy, why the hell would you let him, you know, coach out the stretch, fire him, start to get working on getting a, you know, you basically have a leg up on the competition when it comes to looking under every rock, trying to find your next head coach. You were on football night in America, and I'm not going to ask you to bash on your

Starting point is 00:53:57 colleagues, but Tony Dungey kept on making the point that it was unfair that you fired a guy who won a Super Bowl. Do you think that like in the coaching community, the packers organization, everyone's going to look at him and be like, man, that was really fucked up what they did to Mike McCarthy. Well, and I think coach Dungey's point was more than just winning a Super Bowl, but he'd been there for all those years. He'd taken the team to the playoffs nine times, you own the respect of letting him finish the season and maybe step away, leave with dignity instead of being a brumbly run out the door

Starting point is 00:54:23 after a home loss to the Cardinals. You know, that is a factor that can come up with some of these jobs. How they treat the last coach is a factor in how attractive that job becomes and would it be more attractive to work for the packers or the Browns and does the handling of McCarthy become part of the decision making. But I look at the one thing that's weird about the packer job. You do not have a traditional owner that can roll out of bed any given Monday, any given day, any given year and say, Hey, I want a new head coach, I'm firing my coach.

Starting point is 00:54:53 It takes more time for big changes to be made in Green Bay. So you're going to have more of a chance to get it done. And I think whoever they hire, whenever they come up with a final name, that's going to be the guy who's there for as long as Aaron Rodgers is there and he signed for five more years beyond this season. Here's one name we haven't thrown out there yet. Condoleezza Rice. Are you going to get a phone call?

Starting point is 00:55:12 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You're mad. Oh, you're still mad that you didn't get that scoop. I get it. I don't know what the scoop was because as soon as it was reported, the brown shut it down.

Starting point is 00:55:23 Let me ask you this. I don't know what's going on there. Mike, so if you got it, I don't know if you have John Dorsey's cell phone number, but let's say that you do and he texts you and he says, it's like Sunday morning, Hey, just a heads up, Mike, we're thinking about hiring Condoleezza Rice as our head coach. Is there any chance that you would run that? If it comes directly from the person who's supposedly running the coaching search. Yeah.

Starting point is 00:55:46 If I would get that text, I would use it. I just don't think that, I don't, whoever that came from, I don't think it was John Dorsey. And that's one of the issues with Cleveland for as good as the quarterback is. I don't know who's running the show and I don't know where I'm walking into if I take that job. And I think there's a lot of meddling by ownership and, you know, some of the people in the media that looked at this and tried to figure out what happened with that Condoleezza

Starting point is 00:56:05 Rice scoop, when, when Dorsey comes out and says, no, she's not being considered. The thinking is that this is just ownership with their finger in the pie already and they're always going to have their finger in their pie and they're going to have to navigate that. And that's the coach of the team. How many of the 32 teams, how many of the GMs do you have their personal cell phone number? I don't know, uh, somewhere between, I don't know, 10 and 25.

Starting point is 00:56:29 Oh, that's a big, that's a big, so you don't have Bill Belichick's number. You do not Bill Belichick's number. Wow. I'm not playing this game with you. Be glad you got a 15 number range out of me. Wow. You have Bill Belichick's phone number. Does he use emojis?

Starting point is 00:56:48 Only eggplant and middle finger. The wet button. All right, Mike, let's talk about the other big story over the weekend, uh, the Kareem Hunt story. So it was kind of crazy how the video comes out and almost immediately the chiefs cut him. And I feel like that was the fastest that's happened in a long time with a team where they, they didn't have any second guessing and also is another team going to look around

Starting point is 00:57:11 and try to pick him up before the deadline passes on Monday? Well, that was the most stunning part of the move that he was cut Friday night by the chiefs. And they didn't technically cut him Friday, but they announced they were going to cut him after the league put him on that commissioner exemplis where he would have been on paid leave. And then it became obvious that the reason the chiefs cut him was because not the incident, but they had lied about the incident.

Starting point is 00:57:33 So now that's what everyone has to process. And that's one of the questions I put to coach Dungey tonight. If you're a coach of another team and you know he's lied to the team that drafted him and the team that developed him, and can you trust him now? And I don't like that all this happens so quickly, right? You have to make a waiver claim on this guy by Monday at four o'clock. Mike Tarrico had a great point tonight on football night in America that this should be suspended.

Starting point is 00:57:58 It should be delayed. The waivers process should be put on hold until we know what the final punishment of Karim Hunt is going to be because now all these teams are in position where they have to make a decision by four o'clock tomorrow where they want to try to get dibs on Karim Hunt. We saw how bad the Washington team screwed it up last week with Reuben Foster. And someone's going to be in that spot again. And it's like, hey, you know, this is a great running back.

Starting point is 00:58:21 You led the league in rushing in 2017. We can get dibs on him for 2019. Whenever he's cleared to play again, why would we not do it? Well, the reason not to do it is it creates a bigger mess for the NFL. And they should have some procedure where when you have a guy in this posture, everything freezes in place and no one is forced to make a decision on whether or not they want them on waivers until we know what the end result is going to be and how many games he's going to miss.

Starting point is 00:58:45 I think that's a good idea. I think that seems very good. That's a very good idea. It doesn't strike you as a little bit odd that the thing that people are most worried about is that he lied to his ownership group and not like the actual content of the tape. Well, I think that, I mean, for the chiefs, they signed Tyree Kill. They drafted Tyree Kill after everybody knew what he had done to his pregnant girlfriend. Right?

Starting point is 00:59:07 I mean, the league is willing to give guys second chances. And it's a tough spot. Do you banish a guy for life because he had one incident? I don't know. I don't know. And each team is going to feel differently about it. But from the chief's perspective, I don't even think it's an issue to consider, you know, whether or not you're going to give him a second chance when he flat out lied to

Starting point is 00:59:27 you. I mean, he reportedly told the chiefs he didn't even leave his hotel world on the night this all went down. So that's an if he repeatedly tells you that and you see the tape, your first reaction is going to be get this guy the hell out of here. We can never trust him again. Yeah. Part of the problem is he assaulted a female and it's all on tape.

Starting point is 00:59:42 But when you had, you know, pointed questions directed at him over and over again and he tells you he didn't leave the hotel room, if all of that reporting is true, I can see why the chiefs got rid of him for that reason. Right. And a little birdie told me that the tape, which was acquired by TMZ may have been kind of tipped off by another rival team in the AFC. Have you heard any of that? I haven't heard that, but boy, that's juicy.

Starting point is 01:00:08 Oh, really? You haven't heard that from your when you were when you were texting with one of these GMs, you didn't tweet it. Well, here's the thing. Do you really need TMZ to be tipped off? We knew that the incident had happened. We knew it happened in a hallway at a hotel. I don't like the fact that these hotels can just say screw you.

Starting point is 01:00:27 We're not giving you the tape. I mean, it's no different than a surveillance camera out on a public street. Right. I mean, I know the hotel owns the hallway, but the hallway is a public access area. And they're going to squat on these tapes. And then somebody who gets disgruntled when, you know, he or she loses his job and sells this thing to TMZ. It doesn't sit well with me.

Starting point is 01:00:47 And someone who worked for the chiefs and now works for another team in the AFC. Oh, yeah. No, I don't know. I'm following. That's, uh, hey, it happened in Cleveland. I like that. Oh, I'm telling you, I'm telling you the Browns, the Browns are the team to watch the claim on waivers.

Starting point is 01:01:03 They wouldn't rule it out today. And Dorsey, Dorsey drafted Karim Hunt in Kansas City and, you know, yeah, that's, I like that. I like that. The real question. Really. Yeah. The NFL should have gotten the video.

Starting point is 01:01:20 I mean, if TMZ can get the video, the NFL can get the video and the NFL should have gotten the video. Agreed. The real question, how quickly did you cut him from your fantasy team? No, I'm not even starting down that path. Oh, so you haven't cut him? Wow. Yeah.

Starting point is 01:01:34 Mike, I would do it. I distance yourself. Mike, I distance yourself. Can I say something? Yeah. The question isn't how quickly I cut him from my team. The question is how quickly I added Spencer. Nobody cares.

Starting point is 01:01:46 Oh, we don't care. We don't care. Actually, I, Mike, I did the same thing. I picked up Spencer. We're at like 420. Yeah. On Friday. Nice.

Starting point is 01:01:55 Yeah. Wait, you were, wait, 420. You weren't doing other things. 420. I don't smoke drugs. I don't know how. Mike, we had Mike McCarthy fired. It is getting down to the last quarter of the season.

Starting point is 01:02:07 Can we play a little hot seat here? Can we, can we give some names? Sure. Is Marvin Lewis going to finally get fired? Marvin Lewis has a contract through 2019 and Mike Brown, the owner of the team, does not like to pay. People does not work. So unless he walks away, I think he's going to be back.

Starting point is 01:02:22 It's going to take a lot to get Mike Brown to buy out Marvin Lewis's contract. Jesus Christ. Okay. I don't know what else he could do. Yeah. It's insane. What about Todd Bolz? I think Todd Bolz is going to be gone.

Starting point is 01:02:36 And you know what? With all that, with two teams now having that head start, it wouldn't surprise me if the Jets consider clearing the decks as well so they can, they can get in on it too. Because anybody who wakes until the season ends is going to be at a disadvantage with the Brown and the Packers out there turning over rocks and looking for their candidates. Yep. All right. Next one.

Starting point is 01:02:56 Carolina Panthers, Ron Rivera. Oh. I think Rivera will be okay. I don't have his contract details in front of me and I don't have them off the top of my head, but I think he's got at least a couple of years left, but you have a wild card and a new owner. Yeah. David Teppler.

Starting point is 01:03:11 I think at a minimum he's on the hot seat next year, but I don't think he gets fired this year. Okay. What about, and it's rare, but two first year head coaches, the Cardinals and the Lions. Well, I think that Steve Wilkes secured his future by getting Mike McCarthy fired today. Yeah. I think that gets him another year. Now, I don't know about Steve Keim, the GM, and if I'm getting rid of the GM, I want to

Starting point is 01:03:34 get rid of the coach too. I don't want to force marriage where the GM has to wait one year, two years, three years before he can hire the coach he wants to hire, and that's what happened in Detroit. Bob Quinn waited for two years to get rid of Jim Caldwell and bring in Matt Patricia. I don't think Matt Patricia is going anywhere. This is a conscious rebuild, a step backward to lay the foundation to have a team like the Patriots have. This is what the Lions wanted when they hired Bob Quinn, who's got that Patriots DNA, and

Starting point is 01:04:01 then you've got Patricia who had 14 seasons with the Patriots. They're going to let this thing percolate, and I don't think they're going to make any rash moves with Patricia. Okay. What about Atlanta? What about Dan Quinn? Good question. Art of Black keeps saying he's not going to make any changes, but here's the thing.

Starting point is 01:04:17 Steve Sarkeesian's got to go, right? The offense has been horrible. So you go out and you find an up-and-coming offensive coordinator to come in and fix your offense, and he comes in and fix your offense. What happens? He leaves to be a head coach somewhere else. So if I'm an owner with a defensive coach and I'm thinking about changing offensive coordinators, I'm going to go ahead and take the next step and think about changing coaches

Starting point is 01:04:37 because I don't want to hire a great offensive coordinator who does so well in his first year or two on the job that I got to replace him again, because that's the problem that the soccer's got into once they went to the Super Bowl with Kyle Shanahan. All right. So let me flip it on you. He keeps talking about college coaches now, the two, the games, you know, an offensive game. Everyone's running up and down the field.

Starting point is 01:04:57 Lincoln Riley is the name that gets thrown around a lot. Do you think that the NFL franchises are going to go back to start hiring college coaches more because I feel like it doesn't happen as much as maybe it used to. Yeah. You know, it really has since Chip Kelly was such a disaster with the Eagles, although he went to the playoffs his first year, it feels like the pendulum has swung away from that. There's a trend to keep an eye on, especially with the Packers and the Browns jobs open

Starting point is 01:05:23 and franchise quarterbacks available. I think that one of those two teams will seriously consider trying to hire another head coach from another NFL team. We saw the Browns try to do it with Jim Harbaugh a few years ago. We saw with John Gruden back in 2002. I think we're going to see, you know, a coach who is thinking, wait a minute, I can stick with the spot that I'm at with a quarterback who isn't a franchise quarterback, or I can maybe try to finagle a path to Green Bay or to Cleveland.

Starting point is 01:05:55 I think some of those things are going to go down and that's why it's good to have those jobs open so those conversations can begin through back channels, through intermediaries. But I think instead of college coaches, I'd be looking for current head coaches to maybe be thinking about trying to get to a place like Cleveland or Green Bay. Just recycling the carousel goes round and round. John Fox, is Jeff Fisher going to get a job? Oh, really? Yeah, really?

Starting point is 01:06:18 Rex Ryan. What was that? I can't figure out what you guys think of Jeff Fisher. Do you like him? I love him. Or are you clowning on him when you, when you, you really, I like, I personally like him. Guess what? He is a football guy.

Starting point is 01:06:30 Mike, let me ask you a question. Who's the best team in the NFL right now? I surrounds. Here we go. Okay. Hmm. Who built that team? Yeah.

Starting point is 01:06:40 Yeah, that's what I thought. That's what I thought. My case closed. Yeah, but what did that team do when he was a head coach? Doesn't matter. He was the architect. He said he left them in a pretty good spot. Yeah, you don't hire Jeff Fisher to win now.

Starting point is 01:06:51 You hire Jeff Fisher to win later. To win later. He's like the pre-win, which is more potent than the actual win. Let me give you one name that fascinates me. Okay. Give it. Um, and, and it used to be that every year, right about this time, there would be a report that this coach could be leaving the team that he's with, and we haven't had it the last

Starting point is 01:07:11 couple of years in part because the team's been really good. Sean Payton. I think Sean Payton is the name to watch. If they win the Super Bowl and Drew Brees walks away, uh, what does Sean Payton do? And um, you know, does he want to try to become the first NFL head coach to win a Super Bowl with two different teams? I don't know. But that, you got Baker Mayfield, you got Aaron Rodgers at the helm in the traction,

Starting point is 01:07:33 or do you wait for Jason Garrett to get canned in Dallas? But between, I mean, you guys answer this for me. Aaron Rodgers, Baker Mayfield, Dak Prescott, which of those guys do you want to coach? I think Dak Prescott comes in at number three. Well, Dak Prescott, well, at least listen to you, I'd assume. Maybe. Baker's number one. Clearly.

Starting point is 01:07:51 Baker's number one. Rodgers is surly and uncoachable and gets people fired. So yeah, I'd go Baker, Dak, Rodgers. All right. I mean, that's fair, right? Is it good to get Baylor's answer right there? Did I lie? Yeah, I'm not agreeing to that completely.

Starting point is 01:08:03 Although I do think that Rodgers bears more of the blame than he's got. I do, I do believe that. Okay. You're right. His body language today was like off the charts, Aaron Rodgers. And he's not a guy that has, yeah, he doesn't have good body language normally, but even this was like, it was special today how just surly he was. Well, he's got, he's usually got that crappy body language and then he'll slip into the

And no one knew that that was going to happen, including the agent and, uh, and that changed

Starting point is 01:09:58 everything. But Bell, once he didn't show up by the Tuesday after week 10, he shut down. He can't play for anybody this season. The Steelers can try to sign a new contract once a regular season ends. That's not going to happen. He's going to be a free agent. He's going to get paid. I, whatever you think he's going to get, he's going to get more.

Starting point is 01:10:13 Wait, they can't, they couldn't sign him to a new contract right now. No, they can't sign a new contract right now. They can't sign through a new contract until after the regular season ends. And even then he'll tell him, he'll tell him, go to hell. I don't want your money. Yeah. Starting point is 01:22:13 Score. Where he invented, he invented the internet. Yeah. He did. The Brett, the Brett Farve closed system of like internet. Well, no, he didn't invent the internet. He invented smooth talk. Yes.

Starting point is 01:22:23 That's true. Yeah. So he's on one of these social media apps where you can ask celebrities to record like a short video for you, and then he'll make a video and then he'll send it to you. And there's a anti-Semitic group out there called the Goyim Defense League. And they, they tricked him into recording an anti-Semitic video by posing as a veterans organization. So what did he say?

Starting point is 01:22:48 They paid him $500. Hey, Brett Farve here with a shout out to the Handsome Truth and the GDL boys. Oh my God. You guys are Patriots My Eyes, so keep waking them up and don't let the small gets you down. Now the small is a reference to small hats or yamakas. Okay. So they slipped that one in there. Keep fighting too, and don't ever forget the USS Liberty and the men and women who died

Starting point is 01:23:09 on that day. USS Liberty was a battleship that the Israeli army attacked, and many people would use that to say it was like a false flag operation, trying to get the US into intervening on Israel's behalf. Got it. It's a messy situation. So, uh, Farve got, Farve got duped. This is probably the worst thing Brett Farve's ever done with a cell phone.

And but to Brett's credit, he said a few days later I was distressed to learn that the request came from an anti-Semitic group that reposted my video with comments implying I endorsed their mission.

So somebody follow up with Brett and make sure that he's not accidentally donating to another hate group. Yeah. This could absolutely happen. This could snowball.

Starting point is 01:25:06 Yeah. All right. We have mansplaining. Why do we call this mansplaining? Kareem Hunt? Yeah. So we're just going to mansplain the Kareem Hunt situation. Okay.

Starting point is 01:25:14 So he, there was a video? No. So there was an incident. He kicked a woman. He also pushed a friend into the woman, kind of shoved the woman as well. He then told the chiefs nothing happened and the chiefs were like, sure dude and didn't look into it somehow. I don't know how.

Starting point is 01:25:30 They did. So saying that out loud. That's kind of weird. So they did kind of, but then the hotel was like, no, we're not going to give you the tape. And then the NFL asked the NFL told the chiefs to stop looking that they were going to handle it. And then the hotel told the NFL, no, we're not going to give the tapes to you.

Starting point is 01:25:46 So they're like, let's just please hope that this goes away. Okay. So then the tapes come out. We talked to Florio. You heard Florio. He said, it might, may or may not be an AFC rival. He said Belichick sent the tapes. They cut Kareem Hunt right away.

Starting point is 01:26:00 And then he did the worst interview I've ever seen in the moment, Sunday morning with Lisa Salters in his like kitchen, which was very weird. I was distracted by the fact that he had pictures of himself printed like computer printed picture of himself up on his refrigerator and just weird answers. I don't know who his PR team is, but Kareem Hunt, you got a lot of things to figure out but I don't think he has a PR team because he wasn't on the chiefs anymore. So it was just like basically him guy, I think, I don't think he has a guy, every guy's got a guy.

Starting point is 01:26:34 When you get a fall guy, no, when you get a certain amount of money, I don't want a man splint to you inside. No, please. Please do. When you get a certain amount of money, whether it be athlete, you know, musician, politician, whatever, you got a guy, but what, and that guy fixes everything for you. So the guy is just there. He's not the fall guy.

Starting point is 01:26:51 Yeah. He's the guy who you call. He's the first call. It could be a lawyer. It could be anyone. It's the PR guy. It's just your guy. It sounds like a guy.

Starting point is 01:26:59 He's the guy who gets everything done. It sounds like you're talking about a hit man. No. Well, it could also be that. It could be a double dip. Right. It's just your guy. Okay.

Starting point is 01:27:07 No, we're not. We don't have enough money to have a guy, but cream hunt wasn't a high draft. But he was what it was. He probably had some endorsement deals. Like he, he had a guy. Okay. So I probably sucked. That's where the money comes in place.

Starting point is 01:27:18 This guy probably wasn't good enough. Right. He had a cut rate. Someday you will have a guy. Okay. It was something to shoot for, but whatever the case may be, the interview was bizarre. It sounded like he was just doing an interview because he wanted to get picked up by Monday. He was uncomfortable.

Starting point is 01:27:34 Yes. He was upset that like all this was happening. And he was like, I need to get my story out somehow. And his story sucks. Well, his story was like, bro, we saw the tape. You needed a better story. Yeah. The story's right there.

Starting point is 01:27:46 If you're going to have a story, your story can't just be shit. So he was saying like, I'm going to seek help and I'm going to get treatment. And then they were like, well, okay, are you, are you actually seeing somebody? He's like, no, but like I'm planning on, we've talked about it. Well, the problem is. I saw a commercial for a psychiatrist on TV. He had, he thought there was a checklist and there is kind of for these redemption, like if you're trying to redeem yourself off of a, you know, shitty, you know, incident that,

Starting point is 01:28:11 you know, you're, you're, you were a scumbag for something. There is a checklist, but it's not that fast. So he was like two days later. It wasn't even, it was like 24 hours later. He was saying, I'm not that type of guy. I'm like, you know, the classic cliches is like, what? This is not who I am. Lisa Salters was must have, they must have taken it on Saturday.

Starting point is 01:28:30 She was there within 24 hours. And then everybody made the same joke, which is the red skins are going to sign them. But there is, there is some truth to the fact that the red skins, well, no, they're probably not going to sign them, but Dan Snyder is pissed off that he used his one shot at Ruben Foster. Like this guy's better. He's like, I wish I'd waited. And he might not go to jail.

Starting point is 01:28:49 Yeah. I wish I'd waited to, to fuck, to use my major fuck up on a more talented player. Damn it. Oh, yeah. He's got to be kicking himself. Well, no, that's what I mean to say, like, no, no, yeah, but here's the thing though. There are definitely 31 NFL GMs and whoever's running the Browns that are thinking like, fuck, I kind of want to get him because somebody else is going to get him.

Starting point is 01:29:12 Right. Like nobody wants to pick him up off waivers, but they're all thinking that somebody else is going to do it. Right. And so like the last appetizer on the plate, you're like, do I look like the fat ass grabbing this to someone? Someone's going to take it to fight. I always grab it.

Starting point is 01:29:24 That's, that's what they're all thinking right now. So I would actually, I think somebody's going to pick him up. Yeah. I would agree. I'd say so. I mean, when you look at it, what he did was awful. I want to say that it was bad. You should not ever do anything like you should never find yourself in a situation where that's

I don't want to, I don't want to say the word, but, but I am saying that what he did on videotape is not as bad as what Ruben Foster has been accused of doing repeatedly.
