Welcome to part of my take presented by Draft Kings.
The crown is yours.
Today is Wednesday, September 23rd.
and boys
we had James Winston on Monday night football
and it didn't look great
I mean James hasn't got any reps
He needs a week with the ones
James is a reps guy
He's been you know what
I give James a PFT
Gratings of an A plus
Okay
Because his assignment going into this game
You have to you have to understand
A lot of people that just watch these games on TV
They don't know what the assignments are
For each guy out there
Yep that's true
His assignment going to this game
Be the best backup you can be
Yes.
Gas up the boys on the sidelines.
Yes.
James A plus absolutely delivered.
If you don't understand that that's what his job was, sadly, you're not a real film watch.
I agree.
Give them one week with the ones.
Next week they're playing.
I don't remember who they're playing.
Oh, they're playing.
Titans.
James is going to go off.
I was just more sad.
And we'll talk about the Rams.
But when James, it sucked, the Jackson Dark got hurt.
The Giants like had a torture watch on Monday Night Football.
where you have all the vibes as high as they could be after the Cowboys win,
where Jackson Dart plays a legitimately very good game.
Everything's working.
Defense looks good.
Camp Scatabu.
And then you get into this game.
Arvel Reese gets hurt.
Jackson Dart gets hurt.
Malik Neighbors hurts his shoulder then comes back in.
But it was, there was a moment there where we were like,
what did Giants fans do to deserve this?
Because it really, really sucked.
And it sucks that Jackson Dart probably is going to miss some time.
But the Giants.
that was last year's Giants or the year before the year before that that's what we watched on Monday night football and I when Jackson Dart went out I was like oh James like this is going to be this game is about to get crazy and fun didn't go that way I think it's fair to say they still need some help protecting the quarterback yeah that's still a big need for the Giants I don't think that any amount of Harbaugh in the locker room can can fix that overnight I thought Jackson Dart leaving the game trying to come back in they had to steal his jersey yeah they had to the people in the locker
room. I don't know if it was the doctors, the equipment staff, some sort of coach actually had to
take his jersey away so he wouldn't try to get back into the game, which is great news if you're a
Giants fan. I think he's like, I got to get back out there with Cam. Cam wouldn't fight his way out
of the situation. Yeah. And the Rams, I kind of expected the bounce back and boy, did it look good,
especially the Devante Adams part, because Puka not playing. And Devante Adams being, he looked like
like Devante Adams of old.
He looked like stretching the field,
catching these deep bombs.
Stafford looked comfortable.
He did have like one Stafford throw where it was like,
what are you doing, dude?
It was two guys draped over Devante Adams.
He's like, fuck it.
I'm just going to throw it up there.
And I think Stafford,
did Stafford become six all time in touchdowns last night?
That sounds right, yeah.
Yeah.
Hallfamer.
He's going to be a hallfamer.
Just an amazing shot a while ago.
Amazing first half from Devante Adams, too,
just like lit everything up.
And it looks like for a while, you know, they were, there were just kind of a red zone pairing, like Matt Stafford, DeVosite Adams.
It was like, I'm just going to get inside the 10-yard line. You're automatic. You're my go-to guy. And I wasn't sure that Devante Adams still had it in terms of like that all-around receiver and deep threat. There are a few times last night. It's like the timing's there with him and Stafford. He was throwing the ball before he was open, trusting that he would get some separation. And it was, yeah, I think the Rams.
They'd be just fine. Or maybe who we thought they were before the season. Credit to McVeigh, by the.
the way for saying like sometimes your coach is a dumbass that doesn't understand how time works.
Yes.
And yes, I like hearing that because as a dumb ass that also doesn't understand how time works,
it doesn't also mean that we can't be great coaches.
Right, right.
Yeah.
And you're right about the Devante Adams, like the touchdown merchant stuff last year.
I mean, that's also when Puka's in there.
Yeah.
Puka's stretching the field.
But that was a scary sight for anyone who's in the NFC to see Devante Adams feel like,
like that was a classic Tavante Adams game.
I know the giant secondary is banged up.
And I just trust McVease so much that even if Devante Adams was out for a while, too,
he'd find one way to get one of his four white tight ends to be a downfield threat too.
Somehow, yeah, you end up seeing Parkinson running like a four, three-40.
Yeah, Terrence Ferguson scored last night.
What did you guys think about this?
Rams jerseys.
Gross, disgusting.
I did not like them.
I didn't mind it, but that's just because I grade Rams jerseys on a scale of, like,
they get a lot of leeway because they've got some ugly ones.
They made the yellow worse.
Yeah.
Yeah. I, so my first reaction was these are disgusting.
Then they started to grow on me.
Then I saw Harrison Meeves in it.
And it went the exact opposite way again where I was like, oh, these are really, really bad.
Because Harrison Mivas, he's a big boy.
It's not flattering.
It's not flattering.
If you're in really good shape, like a lot of things, if you're in really good shape, those jerseys look good on you.
Yeah.
And if you're not, they kind of, it's kind of like a highlighter for BMI.
So the higher it is, it's like it draws your eye to it.
Yeah.
Like if you see Devante Adams standing next to Harrison Mivas, you're looking at Harrison Mivas in those jerseys and you don't want to be looking at this.
No.
No, Devante Adams looks cool.
Harrison Mivas looks fat.
Yeah, they're kind of like they're very Swedish-coded.
Yeah, they are.
I feel like this is IKEA football.
They also, yeah, it just doesn't feel like a real NFL team.
Yeah.
It feels like a fake, like a NFL team you'd watch in a movie about the NFL.
About the league.
Yeah.
With like, yeah, about like this is the Kurt Warner story.
Yeah.
That's what we're watching right here.
We're watching the Los Angeles bananas.
Yeah.
Oh, gross.
Don't put that idea out.
Fuck you for putting that into the universe.
Fuck you.
I don't know if that would work.
I don't think doing a backflip over the middle.
If a fan can get out there and make a tackle during a play, it counts.
Yep.
Yep.
Okay.
So that was Monday Night Football.
Also, I don't know what it is.
Aaron Donald, so his return.
Yep.
He didn't have a spectacular Aaron Donald game.
Max was rooting.
so hard against him. Max, you admitted
you were rooting against him. He said it was personal. I just don't
want Aaron Donald to be as good as
Aaron Donald used to be because that's bad for the Eagles.
Okay. And I was also
right. Did he didn't get a sack?
Didn't get a sack. Yeah. He did get a tackle for
loss. Not a sack. But it was a tackle
for a loss. Which is another way to say a sack.
That's incorrect. Well, you could. That's just a separate
Well, no, but a sack is a tackle for a loss.
It's just a random thing that we assign. We randomly
say it's a sack because it's the quarterback.
Because the quarterback, it's now a sack, but it really is the actual definition of it is like it is a tackle for a loss.
Here's a thing.
You think it's more, wait, do you think it's more valuable for him to tackle?
Here's the thing.
We just weren't talking about tackle for a loss.
Would you rather him to, yeah.
Would you rather have him tackle for a game?
This is also a fight that the two of us are, that the three of us are having, that the listener has no idea.
I'm not fighting.
I'm not fighting.
I'm not fighting.
I'm not fighting.
You guys sounds racist that he's like, it's more impressive when he tackles a white man.
Mm-hmm.
What?
Yeah.
Quarterback.
Who was playing quarterback last night?
Jackson Dart.
Jackson Dart.
Yeah.
For the majority of that game?
Starting.
What do you mean majority?
You don't like minorities?
See, the majority means that he played a majority of the snaps compared to Jackson.
So the minority quarterback actually was Jackson Dart?
Correct.
Wow, that's interesting.
Oh, so you're saying that like he's being replaced?
He had a minority of the snaps.
Okay.
Interesting.
I think you've revealed a lot about what makes you tick today.
And thank you for that.
Yeah, we actually had us.
So we were to catch up the listeners.
The, uh, we were interviewing Scotty Sheffler at the team hotel last night.
And we were waiting for Scottie Sheffler.
And I realized this, we've been doing this show for a very long time.
And we've been in these settings a lot of times.
And we got to start recording them because whenever we're just all sitting in a small room together,
we just start doing a show without the show without anything on.
And so we started doing the show about Max hitting a.
Aaron Donald. I think we should
start recording that and then
putting out a best of
what didn't make the show. But Max, Max,
does root against Aaron Donald. He's admitting that
but it's mostly just because he thinks that Aaron Donald
is a threat to the Eagles. Yeah. We do
have a lot of these on PMTV
of what you're describing.
I don't think he's... Never heard of it.
Check it out.
He looked okay for not having played football
in a couple years. I just invented PMTV.
That's exactly what you did.
Whoops.
Okay.
My bad.
Oh, that's why Shane had the camera?
Yeah.
Oh, man.
Okay.
What else going on, guys?
Anything going on in the NFL world?
Yeah.
Or should we talk college football?
Yeah, so let's do our injury check-in.
Yeah, let's do injury checking.
How's Jaden doing?
With Dr. Hank.
How's Jaden doing?
Let's start with Jail.
Dr. Hank.
Can you give us an injury roundup?
Around the league.
Drake May, Clean Bill of Health.
Okay.
Good.
Thank God.
Jane Daniels.
I don't know if it's because we talked about this on the show and the algorithm.
Just the, there's a lot of memes, not AI memes about, about his teammates leaving him, talks about, I don't know what happened at ASU with like people celebrating when he left.
But there's, there's rumors in Scuttlebutt, which I don't believe, I believe PFT, that there might be some locker room issues with Jane Daniels.
I don't know how that's related to his injury, but.
Hank said he doesn't believe, though.
Good, yeah.
I'm glad he doesn't believe that.
It's just the
speculation just goes up and up by the day
And there's just more and more
Do the teammates really have a party for him
When he left ASU?
Yeah, some of the teammates were happy that he left
Yeah
What?
That seems
We don't know
You can
The rumors are out there that like
Maybe they didn't love his mom being around
The Jackson's art one was crazy
Like I assumed there was
This was like taken out of context or something
Did you see this one?
Oh, side by side
Yeah I mean there
It is apples to oranges
Because one was the very last play
the first half and the guys were on their way to the locker room and the second was during a play
and the guys were staying on the field. Yeah, I figured. Yeah. They wouldn't walk off the field
if they had another play they had to run. The other was, I honestly, I don't think that you need to
make up stories about Jaden being a locker room problem. Agreed. commanders. There's enough,
there's enough to go around to talk about Jaden and the injuries and the will he won't, he,
should he come back. Yeah, it seems unnecessary. It seems unnecessary. I honestly do not believe
for even a brief moment that his teammates don't like him.
From everything that I've heard, his teammates love him.
He was voted captain by his teammates.
Yeah.
So, and this is the first year, I think, with Dan Quinn, where it's had, they've had season-long captains and not just like week to week.
And they voted him as a captain.
What?
Quarterback has to be a captain.
Not, not always.
I mean, if you're a third-year player, you've been in the spot.
Like if he wasn't the captain, that would be a big red flag.
But if they hated him, I don't think they've...
The point of what I'm saying is I honestly don't think for even a second that that team doesn't like him.
I know from what I've seen and I pay pretty close attention to the commander's news and like interviews and shit and training camp.
They love him.
His teammates love him.
So I'm not worried about that.
There's just a lot of talk not only about the injury, but kind of how he is off the field.
And the same with Caleb Williams.
They love him.
We're perfectly fine.
He's probably practicing today.
That should not true.
Hold on.
Would you put him ahead or behind of Drake May in the health power?
My head.
I put him a healthiest.
Caleb, second, Drake May.
Hope he gets better and then third.
Hank, if you take out grade two and three hamstring tears,
what's the most severe hamstring injury you can have?
Grade, I don't know.
Grade one, grade one, which is what Caleb has.
So discounting two and three, he's got the most severe.
one that you could have. And thank God his body is like Wolverine and he healed so fast.
I don't know why all these disgusting, you know, Andrew Tate, Connor Filipperto, Dave Portnoy's
of the world are just making fun of a guy for showing a little emotion on a football field.
Football's an emotional sport. I sat, it wasn't, I think it might have been in New York,
but I sat and you guys talked about Mack Jones crying, getting taken up.
the field. That's because he had...
For probably an entire episode.
Hank, let me ask you a question.
With Big Cat specifically
being like, if your quarterback
is doing this, you guys
suck. Let me ask you a question, Hank.
This is not a sign of a QB1.
Can I ask you a question?
The DUIs that he had.
Like bloodshot, red.
Oh, that was, yeah, that was a DUI.
That wasn't the...
No, no, no, no, no, the crying eyes from him.
You just made up, like, you just tried to, you just tried to deflect.
No, no, the DUI eyes is what we were talking about.
The DUI's matched with...
It was not.
Well, let me ask you a question.
Are you how old do you that's you can't ask that question
Why what it's illegal that's that's a good point by yeah you're not allowed to ask that
Yeah
How old is a woman how much he waits you're not allowed to ask
Never asked Dave Portnoy how much money he makes you never ask Hank his age
Why never asked Dave Portnoy why does he only take one bite what you're 34? Whoa
33 yeah okay you're 33 would you say that as a 33 year old you're the same guy as you were you know when you were 25
Like this Mac Jones thing you're bringing up
I was 37 years old and only a father of two
People can change
This is this is like
How long ago was this?
People can change
I'd forget
I think about my
I think about 37 year old me
I was so immature
I forgot about the Mac Jones tears
Thank you for bringing that up
I was so immature
2022
2022 was it
2020
So what I mean
I was I was 37
I mean that's a baby
I'm not even a man
What did Mac Jones?
Now I'm a man.
A high ankle sprain.
Crying is actually...
What grade?
Good.
I don't remember the grade.
I would...
See, the thing is, I'm watching this from afar,
and I'm secretly envious of Bears fans.
Why?
Because our quarterback is Wolverine.
This is what you would want.
If we're talking about injuries during the week,
as somebody that's dealing with the other side of that coin,
I would much rather my quarterback be a giant pussy than be injured.
I don't know if giant pussy.
That's a lot.
That's a lot.
That's ironious.
I'm throwing that out of court.
I would love it if he was a big win.
Okay.
So in the moment, he was very hurt.
I pray for days like that instead of actually having an injury.
In the moment, he thought he was very hurt.
And then did you guys know that your heart rate often rises just before at the start
of crying, then drops, breathing slows in respiratory sinus arrhythmia?
So it actually calms you down.
So basically, Caleb healed him.
himself in those moments on the cart.
Which is actually amazing.
It's incredible.
The human body.
We should be talking about that.
So do you think that he went down with a, when the injury happened, it could have been a
great three.
Great three, possibly Achilles.
Okay, that's just a different part of the body.
You don't know.
We don't know.
The doctors weren't able to look at it.
They got him on the cart.
He put the towel over his head.
Quick little cry.
Healed.
Like what Caleb did was he made his own personal injury tent with the gatorade tent.
Correct.
And then while he was in there, he, he, he respawned.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's impressive.
Again, we should be talking about his ability.
What a trait to have as a quarterback.
His ability to come back from injury is insane.
It's surreal.
I have a question.
Yeah.
Either of you toured your hamstrings in the past.
Yeah, I had a grade two.
I have.
Yeah.
I had grade two, borderline grade three.
It was almost all the way torn through.
What was your reaction to that?
I don't remember.
I don't think that anyone knows what it was.
I cried.
Okay.
Yeah.
I don't think it's possible to tell what my reaction was.
I might not.
Because unlike, unlike NFL quarterbacks,
I don't get these injuries on film on a football field.
What was actually, oh wait,
we had, shockingly, we do have this injury on field.
What is this?
Are you saying people can't have different responses?
Have you ever heard of like people who are in shock
and they have a different response?
They don't even remember something?
I agree with a big cat.
Trauma is by individual to individual.
Exactly.
Max.
So one individual can handle it a little bit better than another individual.
One individual can be really, really tough and strong.
What part of,
and a real guy's guy?
What part of Caleb's handling of it was not good.
He was healing stuff about, like he seems to be in his feels about it.
No, not at all.
He's taking notes.
He's taking notes online.
Let me look up his retweets.
He's writing these down.
Well, I mean, Dave Portoia is a disgusting pig who is...
What about, yeah, what about the TikToks?
That guy made some great points.
Toxic masculinity.
Toxic masculinity is a problem in this world.
Right now, we,
Some of us are displaying toxic masculine.
Exactly. Some of us are actually mature adults who understand that it's, first of all, the way these guys are battling every Sunday for our enjoyment.
And then they get hurt and oh, they're now soft as you say. Come on, please.
So you're saying.
So you're saying.
So you're saying, if you call them a pussy.
No, I said I would rather.
I was playing a game, would I rather?
And from where I sit, I would rather people be saying those things about my quarter.
than to actually have a quarterback that is, you know, maybe his left arm might fall on.
We're going to ask.
You're saying that it's okay for him to have feelings while simultaneously saying he's not in his
feels about people chirping him.
I don't know.
How do you know that he's on in people's fields?
Retweets are not endorsements.
I'm looking at his Twitter right now.
Everyone knows retweets aren't endorsements.
I have it in my bio.
He does not have that in his bio.
But there's no retweet.
He's also gone.
all over multiple platforms reposts on TikTok.
The guy on Instagram made some really good points.
Really, really good points about how this world is...
I mean, we're going to hell in a bucket.
And most guys don't even know how to make girls calm.
Right. Exactly.
Yeah.
I don't.
Wait, what?
That's what the guy started off.
The other one was that people are like weirdly...
The losers going after Caleb are weirdly attracted to him, which I think that's true.
I think Dave is probably attracted to him.
I'm looking at the retweets from Caleb.
There's no recent retweets.
I guess he deleted those or he unre tweeted them.
That's fine too.
But he slipped.
The most recent reply that he has is a guy that was talking about his hot ones appearance
saying going to DoorDash a 12 piece and sit in my living room butt-ass naked with a bottle
of bourbon.
So it feels like me and my bro are eating together.
Love that.
And he replied, cry, cry, cry, cry.
Yeah.
That's the most recent.
Caleb's for the fans.
What are you showing PFT's hamstring for?
I just wanted to see it.
Oh, I forgot about that.
Yeah.
We got hurt.
We didn't have this on camera at a football.
Oh, yeah, it popped.
I kept running a little bit.
And then I get to the sidelines, like a football guy.
Yep.
Get out of bounds.
That's good.
Get out of bounds, young man.
This was probably grade one as well, right?
Yeah.
No, it was very high grade two, almost grade three.
Listen, I had the same injury as PFT.
No, I talked about it a lot last year.
You wouldn't even know.
I did the interview.
I can submit my MRI if we want to analyze the MRI.
I can submit mine too.
And we could put it side by side with Caleb.
Listen, you guys are just being ugly.
I scored.
I actually scored on the play.
You did.
Touchdown.
Touchdown. Tuddy.
Tuddy.
That was a grade two?
Yeah.
Very high grade two.
Almost grade three.
Almost grade three.
I can still, if you want, you can feel the lump in my hamstring that's still there.
You're not even walking with a limp.
I did.
No, I did.
He had a limp.
With a big lump.
Yeah.
Also, adrenaline's a thing.
Yeah.
Caleb had a limp.
He had a light limp.
Are you saying, are you saying he didn't have a light limb?
No, he had a severe limp.
Now you're just trying to erase the facts memes?
I read the report.
I feel like you want him not to play this week just so you can say he's more injured than he is.
Would you rather him to play or not play?
He's Wolverine, like I said.
He's somehow the greatest ever to come back from injuries from severe grade one hamstring
injuries.
So you wanted to play.
You went to a roller coaster yesterday of being like, let me attack everyone who said he's coming
back because it seemed like he was going to come back against the Eagles.
And then you were like, oh, okay.
So Schifter said he's probably not even going to play this.
Well, he's weak.
And you said that with a sense of relief.
No, no, the injury news is all over the place.
There was relief when you said that.
Then it was 90-to-week.
I wanted to play.
And he'll probably play because he's the toughest guy I've ever seen.
But you were like, oh.
Listen, two guys.
Sheffert are not going to play.
Two guys on.
Boom.
Yeah, because everyone's freaking out.
Crisis averted.
Tom Pelliserro says that he's playing.
And then Schefter says he's not.
Let's get on the same page, guys.
But wouldn't you be upset that your quarterback's not going to play?
One guy on...
I am...
I want him to play on Monday.
I'm so upset.
I want him to play on Monday.
But you were relieved when you...
Well, no, because I was relieved
that they were actually getting real news.
Tom Pelliseros just conjecture.
Wild conjecture.
That also wasn't real news from Shepter.
It was real news from Shepter.
I trust Shepter.
He's never been wrong about any injury news
except for the one that he got wrong
with Kobe Bryant in the preseason
that was specifically about the bears.
Maybe his bear source isn't great.
Neither here nor there.
I don't even remember what I was going to say,
but it was going to be a good point.
How long is Jaden out?
It depends. He's seeing a specialist today. They're going to tell him whether or not he needs the surgery or not. My fear is that he's going to try to play through it. Give himself like three weeks off like he did last time. Put the brace on, get back out there. And then America will have to watch him just locate his left elbow the next time he tries to brace himself for a fall again. And that's nobody wants this. I know that he's a tough guy. He wants to get out there and compete. He's trying his hardest to get out there. I hope. I wish that he could play next week. That'd be awesome if he was healthy enough to play next week. But, um,
What happens if he has to get surgery?
Then probably out for the rest of the season.
And there's Hank Root for Injuries again.
That sucks.
Yeah.
Rune for injuries.
This whole, I was thinking about this on the way, and this whole offseason has felt vaguely.
The season started.
No, Hank, let me finish my point, please.
It's felt recently in D.C., vaguely Snyder-esque in the way things have gone.
Like, injured starting left tackle in preseason, out.
PR mistake involving quarterback.
Out.
new offense coordinator asking quarterback to do things that he hasn't done before check
stadium renderings come out after a bad loss against a division rival check to like pat you on the head
there there it'll be okay i catastrophic injury involving your your quarterback in the future check
it feels i don't want to cast aspersions on josh harris but it feels like i can blame lebron
for that lebron has has taken josh harris's eye off the ball because it had to spend the entire
he's in coddling his new player for the Sixers.
So I kind of blame Josh Harris for the way.
LeBron James, by the way, at the Rams game, not at practice.
Not a practice.
And Josh is probably very concerned about that.
Not a practice.
In L.A.
He seems like he doesn't want to leave L.A.
September.
All right.
Can I do real talk for a second?
Real talk.
I think the internet is crazy.
The fact they're not applauding.
Chicago had two serious, serious injuries on Sunday.
Alex Bregman broke eight bones in his face
and Caleb Williams had a severe
mild one
or severe grade one hamstring
and both guys are going to probably play.
Like that's insane.
Chicago tough.
That's crazy.
Both those injuries are very similar.
Right.
Both very similar.
But no, actual real talk,
I enjoyed the hell out of yesterday
because the memes about Caleb are funny.
I like, that's the internet being the internet.
You can't actually be upset about the memes.
They were like the-
You don't know that.
You know how he's feeling?
The king of don't tell me how I'm feeling, Henry Lockwood.
If I start reposting stuff on my story and Instagram and retweets,
I'll remember this.
Next time we'll try to tell you how you're feeling.
Good point.
Maybe Caleb has rest.
It can exist.
Maybe he's got a resting injured face.
Click that video.
The video of the guy.
That guy's making a great point.
What?
What?
Beam string.
Most of you guys
don't even know
how to make women come.
Exactly.
He kind of looks like
Colton and sounds like him.
Yeah.
Dreamstring.
Most of you guys don't even know
how to make women.
Great point.
Good impression.
No.
All right.
So,
Frank Calyendo?
In seriousness,
I,
uh,
the,
the memes were very,
very funny.
If you get upset about the memes,
you're a loser because that's the internet being the internet.
I also think there is a weird undercurrent of people who actually do hate Caleb
and they will use it as like,
like,
like it's not a meme.
They're just,
like he's the softest, like, pussy ever, and like, this is crazy.
Those people are weird to me just because they'll hate Caleb for anything.
And I actually am a little excited that it was getting a little too calm.
When Caleb gets drafted, the fingernails, everything, like everyone's, oh, this guy can't
be a quarterback.
And last year, he was just, he wins a playoff game, beats the Packers twice.
Week one happens.
People stopped kind of hating Caleb.
Now we're back to people hating Caleb.
And I love it because when he wins, he wins.
it will be that much sweeter.
So I'm excited.
I'm excited for the opportunity.
Yeah, you'll have it on Monday.
Yeah.
Hopefully he'll play.
Hopefully he'll play.
The memes were very funny, though.
I mean, that was a, there was an onslaught.
It was from like 9 a.m. to.
You were getting mad, though.
You got mad at memes.
What?
When?
In the morning.
What did I say?
Memes like I memed.
I said, I texted him and I said,
meme anything you want from the part of my take main account.
Did I not?
Yeah, he was just including me in the toxic man masculinity.
Wait, did you think I was being serious when I was saying memes you're being mean?
Kind of.
Okay.
I'm sorry.
You were, you were half, you, you like were in your fields at first.
And then gradually, Hank, Hank, hang, hang, hang, you can call my quarterback soft.
You can call my quarterback soft. You can call them pussy.
You can do all that stuff.
If you thought that my tweets yesterday were not having fun with the whole situation, you're basically, you were ready to.
No, you were.
Hank, look at my tweets.
I called out Barstall Sports.
I saw.
I know.
I saw what you said.
There were stars.
You couldn't really tell what you were talking.
That was today I called them out with the stars because I don't want, I don't want Dave Portnoy
fucking name searching me.
It's disgusting.
Hank, I can guarantee you that those memes, I was having a very good time with people,
the Legos guy, which that is actually a serious injury.
It's going to be great once the, you're a king right now of trying to gaslight.
What's the brand start?
getting involved, that's when it's really going to...
I think we're about like three days away.
Oh, the brands are definitely...
Brands getting approval from firing off.
Like McDonald's doing...
When the milkshake machine is down.
Yeah.
Yeah, no, these people are...
Toxic masculinity is rampant in our society.
Clovicular, Dave Portnoy, Andrew Tate, Connor Philberto.
I hope...
I hope he'll be back.
The big four.
Are Bears fans actually mad at the memes?
Of course.
Anyone who is is being a loser.
I think there are also
There's the I think Bears fans are mostly more fighting against like that
People I was talking about the undercurrent of people who actually hate Caleb
Like actually despise him and want any excuse to like call him out
If you're mad about the memes you're a loser those memes are funny
Like it's it ultimately do you I think Caleb probably is sitting at home right now being like
I probably maybe wish I hadn't you know taking the cart
Knowing that I'm not that injured like it would it happens what are you gonna do
Memes, did you get upset at all the Aaron Rogers memes when he tore his Achilles?
I still get upset because it gets tweeted out every single day.
Yeah, it has really lived on.
And he actually tore his Achilles.
Yeah, that's a real injury.
Kind of like a grade one.
I didn't think about that until yesterday.
And I was like, memes has just been dealing nonstop with Aaron Rogers American flags.
I don't even think about that meme as being like something that's even related to an Achilles.
That's how poison my brain has become from the internet.
But it must suck as a Jets fan, like all day, every day,
to see a reminder of a very promising season that got brought down by an injury in, like, the second play.
Yeah.
Yeah, you just see it, but people just like...
It was such a sick entry.
They rub it in your face because it was like, oh, it's a Jets.
Who cares that your quarterback got injured?
But Bears' quarterback gets injured.
You can't meme it?
No, you can.
What are you talking about?
Who say you can't mean?
There are Bears.
Yeah, there are Bears fans.
But Jets fans were saying you can't meme it too.
No.
What?
We just accept it.
Oh, come on.
I think we're confusing some things here.
You can definitely meme the Caleb injury.
Hank, which tweet of mine yesterday did you think I was actually like really?
I didn't say tweet.
I was talking.
We were together all day.
I told, I texted memes right away.
I was like, unload the clip.
I don't give a fuck.
It's funny.
You got to do it.
You got to do your job.
Okay.
I was wrong.
My bad.
I mean, they're like, it's a ridiculous story.
It's a ridiculous.
The whole thing is crazy.
He's not that hurt.
And it's funny that it all happened.
It's great.
I thought he was in that moment,
I thought he was very,
very hurt.
Yeah, the bowtie doctor,
I don't trust, by the way.
That's when you get a guy can't go on TV with a bow tie.
I'm a doctor.
I love doctors after like a big injury happens that they just call the news.
And they're like, hey,
hey news.
Yeah.
I'm a doctor if you want to have me on the news.
Yeah,
the guy who said the,
yeah,
this is Barstall Sports being gross.
Conversating, yeah, it's disgusting stuff.
Barstall Sports is a plague to society.
I think we can all agree.
Yeah, some of the longest term employees, I would say,
at Barstall Sports.
Agreed.
Yeah, Blutman getting in on it.
Sad stuff from Blutman.
Really, really sad.
That's a good quote.
I'll just remind everyone,
crying doesn't mean you're weak.
Sometimes it's what you need to do to get strong again.
You did a lot of crying, and he got strong really quick.
Yeah.
Thank you.
Yeah. So point proven.
Great quote.
Yeah.
In the, uh,
campaign,
I thought I was being dead serious with that quote.
In the serious injury commanders wrap up,
14 starters are out with injuries now.
14.
14 out of 22.
That's,
I would,
I would love for the biggest controversy
to be that my quarterback
can't handle a little bit of pain.
Yeah.
Do you see the exclamation point?
That's the giveaway.
Mean memes,
exclamation point.
That's a pretty good giveaway that it's,
I'm not actually saying,
But counterpoint to that, I think we're entering like minute 10 of you arguing that you're not mad.
Well, because I don't like that Hank is doing this where he, I guess I now realize.
That was good counterpoint.
That was good counterpoint.
It's good counterpoint because he didn't come with any facts.
And he just said that, oh, you were really mad.
Yeah.
He is gaslighting me.
So I'm, I now understand why Hank gets upset at us.
Yeah.
I get it.
He's gasolating me.
But you let's hear about the commander's injuries.
No, I was just saying 14 out of 22.
Yeah.
That's a lot.
It's a lot.
One guy had to spend the night in the hospital.
He almost died.
That's bad.
Hope Nick Cross is okay.
Okay, anything else?
With Caleb or commanders or any injuries?
Dallas Goddard.
Yeah, what happened with him?
He's hurt.
But you got Zach Kurtz?
How long?
Zach Hurts back.
How long is Dallas Goddard out?
A couple weeks.
Okay.
Yeah, it'll be fine.
Did you cry?
Probably.
I don't think he cried.
The Eagles do a very good job of, like that's what Big Dom does.
Yeah.
He makes sure.
Nobody can see, yeah.
Cover up the tears.
We also should just be talking about the fact that Caleb's mustache did look cool in that moment.
Oh, it looked great, yeah.
We look really good.
We need to have more conversation about his chiseled jaw.
He did look.
That's about the tears.
As far as a guy crying getting carted off the field, that was probably the hottest it's ever looked.
The Trump, Caleb mashup was pretty good.
That was good.
Yeah.
Fight.
With the flags in front of him.
It was crazy.
We went from Caleb Derek Rose mashups to Caleb Trump mashups immediately.
Yes.
Yes. It was like memes to like the saddest degree to like clowning him.
Ultimately.
In 12 hours.
Yeah. The fact that he's not very injured is making it so that we can people can laugh about it because it would have sucked.
I mean, I did think he tore his Achilles in the moment. Very wrong. Very wrong. Also,
Sequin likely to land on IR is just okay. What happened with him?
It says stinger. Yeah. How can you go in the IR for a stinger?
Well, have you ever like, have you ever stepped on a B? It hardly.
hurts. Actually, I don't know if this guy is legit.
Max is watching film today.
By a fake doctor.
Max is watching film.
Yes.
I am watching film.
We've had a really busy couple days.
All 22 doesn't come out right away.
That should, they should do that.
And then Monday we weren't, I wasn't by a computer for the entirety of yesterday.
So I've gotten in the film this morning.
I'm about two and a half drives in.
There's some good plays.
There's some bad plays.
There's notes on almost every play.
That's all.
It's on almost every play.
Some plays it's just like...
Everyone did their job.
Everyone did their job.
The defense did their job.
It's a run for a three-yard game.
I would actually love breakdowns of the most boring plays of the week.
I have a couple of them.
Every four-yard gain.
Everyone did a good job on this play.
Blocked it up.
Four-yard game.
That's what I'm talking about.
No, no, no.
Those are not no-note plays.
No-note plays are like runs where we just didn't get quite enough push.
and the defense fill the gaps.
Those are my no notes plays.
Got it.
That's a film watcher right there.
Yeah, here.
That's a thing about film.
Is that, you got a...
I got nothing.
I got nothing on film.
I'm still trying to figure it out.
There's some place where I'm like,
I think that this person should be doing this,
but I don't know if that's their assignment.
So I have those in the notes as well.
You just have to guess sometimes.
I guess I'll just post a full breakdown
of all of my notes when I'm done with them.
I like that.
I've been watching film too.
All right.
Yeah?
How's he been going?
Slow.
It's a grind.
It's just a grind because you got to watch every player.
You watch one guy and then you rewind, watch the play again, watch a different guy.
Oh, a lot of that.
Yeah, so unless you're focused in only on one player.
I don't know how he does it.
It's fucking insane.
He does so quick.
I know.
I guess when you know what you're looking for.
It's probably a little easier.
I think he just watches and he just hopes to see violence on every one.
play. Yeah. And he's like, oh yeah, that's some good violence. That's it. The condor.
That's some good violence. There's a shark in my backyard. Hang on. The condo. Looks good.

Okay, college football.
Lane Kiffin falls up short.
You see they're calling him LSU James Franklin now.
I can't win the big.
I haven't seen that.
It's a little early to be doing that.
Well, they're saying in his career.
Yeah, in his career, yeah.
We need, I think, a bigger body of evidence.
I actually thought, and Max hopped on Wubb this morning,
and I agree with his point that, like, I watched that game,
and I was impressed that LSU came back.
Obviously, Trinidad Chambliss was phenomenal.
He's rapidly going up.
I mean, he's the best college football quarterback right now.
We'll have to see when Darien Mentsa plays someone with a pulse.
But LSU coming back was impressive.
That to me was more of like a, is Sam Levitt a little overmatch type of deal than it was Lane Kiffin?
They could have won the game.
The opportunity was there for LSU to win and they had a quarterback that just didn't.
There were like two plays that stood out on that final drive where there was an opportunity to win the game.
Correct.
And he didn't make the plays.
So you could say, yeah, sliding doors moment.
That's also on Lane Kiffin, by the way, for not having him prepared to make those plays.
Like that is coaching to a certain point too.
I also, I don't know that we can say he can't win the big one at LSU yet.
Oh, I don't agree with that.
This also was an environment.
This was maybe the biggest one, though.
Like, this was an environment that I cannot really think off the top of my head of a more hostile environment for a regular season college football game than this.
I mean, it's this or, you know, the Michigan, Ohio State after the Mace year, you know.
But even then that wasn't, I think Michigan won that game, but they weren't, or no, was that the one, that might have been the year when they put the flag down.
the year they won.
When they went into it, though, they weren't a playoff team, so maybe not as big.
Yeah, I mean, we have rivalries and LSU, Ole Miss is always a big game, especially if it's
in Oxford, like they hate Ole Miss.
Yeah, the crowd was awesome.
And the crowd was great.
This was like, you know, a very, very intense environment to play in, which is great.
I love to watch it.
Good for Ole Miss, by the way.
That's got to feel really good for those guys.
Yes.
And Trinidad Chamblis might be the best college quarterback.
Yep.
I don't know if he's going to be necessarily like the best NFL quarterback or talked
about in those.
Like, is he going to be a top 10 overall pick?
I think he might be, though.
Yeah.
If he's not, depending on how tall he measures in that,
I think he probably should be talked about as being the guy that you want.
Like, maybe I'm prisoner of the moment right now.
But Trinor, he's clearly a better quarterback than Arch Manning right now.
And I don't think it's close.
He's 64.
Yeah.
He is older.
Six feet.
He's six feet.
Six feet, six one, but everyone's saying six feet.
By the way, Archie is 24.
Yeah.
Trinidad's older than Drake Bay?
They're the same age.
I don't know the birthdays, but...
I'm just saying right now, Trinidad Jack...
That's not going to be a problem.
That is...
He's right.
It will be.
But he is the best college football quarterback right now.
You know, also I said I was too old to be a good rookie in the NFL?
Kenny Pickett?
Tyler Shuck.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
That's true.
That's true.
Good point.
The Ole Missel has the best resume right now through three weeks because they beat Louisville
on a neutral site and then they beat LSU at home.
They have like,
we're in that portion of the schedule which like,
I think these teams are good,
but they also haven't played anyone.
I mentioned Miami like Georgia, Georgia.
We talked about it on Monday,
but Georgia doing defensive line work in TV timeouts
because Arkansas wasn't like doing enough
to get them work.
Yeah.
Was so, so like Kirby just,
I think he's got his shit back to him, Kirby.
He's got a little edge to him this year.
I'm thinking about the other games that happened, the notable stuff.
Kentucky was an awesome win for our guy, Will Stein, on the road, Texas A&M, top 10 team.
They might have been a fraud top 10 team.
But still, there were 17-point underdogs.
They went outright.
That was awesome, like, very excited for Kentucky fans.
Yeah, it was, it was great to see.
And he was pumped up after the game, too.
I don't know, Kentucky might be secretly good.
Oh, yeah.
I mean, they had, they played well against Alabama for a half.
And Marcel Reed might, can Messi give the Jersey back?
Yeah, Marcel Reed's not very good.
That's looking back, it was, it was hilarious in the moment, but looking back that jersey swap is going to be even funnier.
Yeah.
Between him and Messi.
But yeah, good for, good for Will Stein.
That's awesome.
Did you guys see Arch Manning has said, we are the fucking storm, which is just a, that's a pretty hard quote.
That's badass.
Did you guys see that Arch Manning has basically, they ripped his personality out after the AI?
controversy. He did a press conference. He's, he's a robot now. We're never going to get another
quote out of Archmanning. He's never, he's learned his lesson as a manning. He's like, I'm done
ever showing you any personality. Yeah, well, you, you guys have officially beat me down. I'm not going
to pull my pants down and put my butt cheeks on a trainer anymore. Do any of that funny,
wacky manning stuff. Ballsack. Ballsack. Was it ball sack? I think it was ball sack. Okay.
Allegedly. I think it was ball sack. Uh, yeah, I mean, this was going to happen eventually. The
Mannings were going to get to him and be like, hey, you can't say this stuff. Like, just keep your
mouse shut, people will forget about it, and then Allstate's going to pay you $60 million
in about 10 years.
Yeah.
But it's, uh, we're now getting like this weekend, make sure you're watching college football.
We've got, we finally got like the weekend where it feels like there's some big, big
games, USC Oregon, Texas, Tennessee, uh, Ole Miss Florida, like there's some big Texas A&M,
or sorry, Mississippi State, by the way, Camaro, he's awesome.
He's, his, when they talk about like, uh, the ball jumping out of hand, uh, uh,
out of your hand.
Watch him play football.
That's what happened.
Is he,
I think he might be
the second best quarterback.
Yeah, he's playing incredible.
Like, he's,
he's fun to watch.
When do they play?
Who?
Mississippi State,
Ole Miss.
Ooh, that's the end of season.
Egg Bowl.
I do also,
I will defend our guy,
Brandon.
I do think that it sucks
that the discourse now
with today's college football
is if a player's really good
on a lesser-than team,
everyone immediately is like,
can't wait to see him play
on Ohio State next year.
It's the MLB.
Yeah, it sucks.
Can't wait for me a Yankee or a Dodger.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It sucks.
It does.
Maybe Mississippi State alumni will get together and just say, let's scrounge up
every dollar that we have.
Bring back more cowbell.
And, yeah, so do a cowbell drive.
Yeah.
So a limited edition, Camario Calbell, all proceeds go to keeping Camaro in Starkville next year.
Yeah.
You touched on it very briefly on Sunday, but I feel like it should get talked about more because
it was, I feel like it kind of got swept under the rug, but the end of the NC State game.
Unbelievable.
Was one of like the most insane endings to a football game I've ever seen in my entire life.
So I assume a lot of people listening have seen it, but I'll just say it anyway.
NC State was leading all game.
They were up 31, 28, I believe.
And they got, Vandy was driving with like two minutes left.
NC State got a pick at the goal line.
So they have less than two minutes left.
All they got to do is get a first down or run out the clock.
They get to a situation where they're on the two-yard line.
There are six seconds left.
They're up three.
All they have to do is take a safety and most likely win the game by putting,
doing a safety punt and, like, you know, they're going to have to do a lateral play,
whatever.
The NC State quarterback goes back in the end zone to take the safety, doesn't go down,
and Vandy strips them, falls on the ball, wins the game with one second left, kicks the extra point.
wins by four. It was so mind-nummingly stupid.
The,
like getting a safety was the right play,
but you just have to run out of bounds.
Not even that. Yes,
you can just run out of bounds. You can also hold.
You can hold. Everybody on the offensive line can intentionally
grab their guy, tackle them in the end zone,
and it's still going to be a safety. That is the play.
We've seen it countless times.
Like, it's a smart move to take a safety there.
also cool thrown Greg Shiano
Like yeah when it looks like it's time to take a knee
Yeah played to the E and Whistle
Yeah finally it finally Greg's master plan worked out
Just go out of bounds and then punt it
Like do a safety punt even if it was three seconds left
They're not gonna win the game that way
He could have taken his helmet off
The quarterback could have ripped his own helmet off
And thrown it into the crowd from the end zone
And that would have been the correct play in that situation
Or just throw the ball from there
Yeah like why didn't he think about throwing it
Just throw it deep.
Throw it way up in the air.
Yeah.
Just run.
There's a moment where he goes back and then he runs forward.
I know.
The moment where you run forward just go backwards.
Right.
It's the only, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, they're just kids.
How many, uh, they're just kids?
How many, uh, they're just kids?
How many people watching that game change the channel after the interception?
It was like, well, this one's over.
Not me.
Because I knew NC State.
They do dumb shit.
They're always capable of, they do dumb.
I, new innovative ways.
to break your heart.
I was watching this and I was watching it live because I had NC State.
And I thought they were going to do the dumb move of trying to punt, which that was on the table,
of them punting and then Vandy catching, doing a fair catch immediately in field goal range.
Yeah.
So when they lined up, I was like, oh, they are actually doing the smart thing.
Guess what?
No, they actually did the dumber thing by not going down.
It was maybe the dumbest finish.
I would say this is maybe second in recent.
recent memory behind that, was it Miami, Georgia Tech?
Yeah.
Where they just decided to run plays.
Christopher decided to run plays at the end of the game for absolutely no reason.
Yeah.
Oh, man.
So, so brutal.
I also have, I want to read a couple headlines for you guys.
You ready for this?
So Oregon's had a tough start to the season.
They were one in one going into week three.
They lose to Oklahoma State.
They struggle with Boise.
They then get Portland State at home.
Smash spot.
Oregon wins 84 to nothing
Here are the headlines
after 84 to nothing by Oregon
This is from the Wall Street Journal
Is it rude to win a football game 84 to nothing
Or am I just soft?
That's an actual headline
That should have been a poll
Yeah
And then the other one was
Oregon's cringy blowout
A Portland State
A different kind of embarrassing
Shame on them
Cringy blowout
It's a safety issue
So Dan Nellan can't win
Yeah
Well he's
He won.
Yeah, they won, but they lost because it was a cringy blowout.
It was very cringy.
Are you even happy as a Ducks fan?
Or you hope it...
Ultimately, you'd rather lose that game.
Yeah.
I do...
For sportsmanship.
Obviously, we have drafting as a sponsor.
I've no, no shocking news, but I love to gamble.
But when this one guy was like, I was like, maybe we are talking too much about gambling
because I saw this one tweet on my algorithm.
Some guy was like, this game is rigged.
watch Oregon score a touchdown to ruin my teaser of under 85 and a half.
I was like, dude, there's no way they're thinking about rigging Oregon, Portland State for teasers on totals in college football.
That's, uh, at that point, you might be gone too far.
At that point, you might want to just like have some ego death.
Yeah.
Probably take a heavy dose of psilocybin.
Do you know how-
realize that the world is not about you?
Do you know how hard it would be to, to rig a game and but have to make sure you cover all teasers as well?
It's a perfect crime.
Just be like, hey, not only are we going to rig this for the spread, but remember,
there's seven point teasers, 10, 13 point, we've got to cover all our bases.
I mean, I didn't want to get into it, but you kind of forced my hand.
The PFTs with the Bucks and the Browns, why did they delay that football game?
Oh.
We never used to delay football games ever before.
It's true.
And now we're delaying them all the time.
My theory is, it's the government because the more football games that they can delay because
of weather, the easier they can sell is this climate change stuff.
and start taking carbon taxes.
And, oh, hey, you think that the weather does impact you?
Well, guess what, Oxford, Mississippi?
We're going to have to delay a football game because there's a thunderstorm in the area.
Bet you love Democrats now.
Give us all your money.
That's my theory for why my personal teas are lost.
I like that.
Yeah, it goes deeper than you think.
It goes way deeper.
That's very deep.
Also, in the matchup of the Sweeney's Dabo versus Bill Belichick, that was a tough loss for UNC.
Yeah.
real tough other that was also a weather delay also weather delay yeah exactly real tough
unc i don't know if they look good or it's just like this is the the new normal with clemson
no i i i think unc is very similar to how they were at the back half of last year they have a good
defense not at the end of the game well yeah like they they were selling out to try to stop the run
and the guy should have gone down yeah well no i mean like the last i think it was the last three
drives were basically the air field yeah but
I mean, there's the weather delay.
The weather delay fucked him.
Yep, the government.
Yeah, that was a big win for Dabo,
which is kind of a sad state of Clemson football.
That's a big win.
He needed that.
But he needed that bad.
I would have love to just have UNC in the mix later and have them,
like maybe they're going to be the ACC championship game.
Maybe they'll be a spoiler.
They could be.
You never know.
Yeah, get ready for this slate, though, this weekend.
It's going to be sick.
Also, Texas Tech, Houston was a great game.
Texas Tech.
both those teams are good.
I don't know.
It's, I guess, good for the Big 12
because they didn't take each other.
Like, Houston beating Texas Tech,
then Houston losing later.
I think that's the hardest game Texas Tech's going to have.
So.
BYU?
Yeah, they have BYU.
I think it's at home.
I can't remember it.
They might actually not have BYU.
They have a very easy schedule, I believe.
That is like, I think that was.
West Virginia Rich Rod is back, by the way.
That was a big win for them.
Yeah, no, they don't have BYU.
So that was their, and they have West Virginia at home.
So that was their biggest game of the season that they, you know, pass that test.
They should be able to, not cruise, but they have an easy road ahead.
Okay, breaking news, bad breaking news.
Hank?
Sad breaking news.
Jackson Dart, most likely out for the year.
That sucks.
I feel bad for Giants fans.
Giants fans got the old run around.
because you had about 10 minutes last night
where you were like, oh shit,
season's over, this is the worst,
life is pain.
And then you got the Ray of Sunshine
when you had, number one,
the sideline reporters
and the Adam Schefters of the world
reporting might not be that bad.
Yeah.
Might be back sooner rather than later.
Then you had the lip-reading experts
on the sidelines looking at the trainer
and saying this might be him saying
four to six weeks.
And then today they kind of have to go back on that.
So should be illegal.
the course of, you should never have this happen.
It should always be the worst and then you get better.
Yeah.
So, yeah, the worst, better, that's the way to do it.
Yep.
I would agree with that.
Now, you should be allowed to sue Adam Schefter is what I'm getting at.
Yes.
Emotional distress, if you're a Giants fan.
That's a bunch of bullshit.
So feel bad for Giants fans.
Jackson Dart.
Like, even as a, I'm going to do the as a commanders fan for them, but they were such a fun team
to watch.
Like, I like watching him play football.
It sucks.
I hate that he's in the division.
But I like watching him play.
And the turnaround had a lot of promise.
One week you look great.
And then all of a sudden things get taken away.
It's brutal.
The Giants have not had a quarterback start every game in a season since 2018 with Eli.
That's insane.
Yeah.
All the good vibes, everything that was coming after week one, and it's just ripped away.
It fucking sucks.
Yeah.
Was that the 2015 draft?
Jamis Marietta one two
yeah back yeah yeah both back
2015 all over again
yeah brutal so feel bad for Giants
I hope it's not an ACL I hope it's just like
I don't know we're not again
we're not doctors so the fact that his foot
didn't look planted gave you reason for hope
but I guess there's other ways that things can tear
I don't know we don't know what it is yet I don't think that they even know
the extent of everything if they do they're not going to tell anyone
No. Can I have a little point that was actually pointed out by our good friend Tom Furnelli just now he texted me. Can you pull up and we love we love Schrager, his new show, you can go watch it.
Ian Rapport, you can't be reporting news looking like your Shrager 16 year old in high school.
Pull up the there it is. Watch this. Play the clip. You can't report season ending news.
in a t-shirt in a leather jacket.
T-shirt with a duck-old.
That can't happen.
Make that jacket.
Make the screen bigger.
We can't play this clip.
Yeah, but that can't happen.
Do you agree?
That cannot happen.
You got to put on something.
The viewer and the listener is going to be very confused.
We cannot show it.
Well, I'll tweet.
I'll tweet the clip.
Because we're going to get one of these like, oh, all the producers stuck of their job.
Why can't they put this clip in?
We can't put this clip.
Inraport looks like he was out back smoking a cigarette when he got the news.
He was like about to hop on his hog and ride away with his old lady.
And then he got a text and he's like, ah, better go back on the TV and report this.
Mm-hmm.
Now I'm back on to my son's vederke.
That's crazy.
You got a, you got, you got, season-endering, ending injuries need to be reported with a suit and tie.
I mean, Trigger looks like he's, like, chilling out of ski loss.
Yeah, I, but listen, I, there's got to be decorum in this world.
Ideally, you'd like for it to be, like, somebody coming to your door and knocking on it, like, and taking their hat off.
Yeah.
Delivering it to every fan personally, like, sit down on your couch.
Mm-hmm.
The Marines show up and they're like, hey, there's a car.
You're in your farmhouse and there's a car that you see coming down the road about like a quarter mile away with all the dust kicking up.
And then you just go out to the front porch, you open up the door, you see Adam Schaefter step out of the car and you just faint into your rocking chair that's out there.
And he says, Jackson Darts out for the year and you say, why do I care?
I live in Nebraska.
Yeah.
Yeah, like why are you here, Shepter?
Who are you?
I'm going to shoot you.
Get off my property.
Also, other injury news, obviously nowhere near the Jackson Dart.
We do feel bad for Giants fans.
Like, that just sucks.
Your season felt like it was going, everything was going in the right direction,
and then to have Jackson Dart missed the entire year, it's just, it's brutal.
It's absolutely brutal.
And it feels like they're going to just go back to what they've been doing,
which is being like a four to six win team with a couple frisky games mixed in.
Who knows?
Like, that just sucks.
Who knows?
Max, do you want to say something as an Eagles fan?
You feel bad?
No, I don't feel bad.
We're going to get more James.
That was so easy to just say you feel bad.
You feel bad for Giants fans.
I feel bad for Jackson Dart that he's injured.
Do you feel bad for Giants fans?
Okay.
Is there any giant fans?
I don't like to see the play.
Like, that hurts his future.
It's sad for Jackson Dart, not sad for Giants fans.
I'm sad for Giants fans.
Lie.
You're just lying.
Okay.
I'm sad for Jackson Dart
Me too
I'm sad for the other players on that team
Not the fans
So you're sad for the team
Yeah
For the players on the team
Correct
But no sympathy
Whatever for the fans
After all they've been through
Puffe
They won two Super Bowls
That is a valid point
Yeah
Good point
I don't feel sad
I did feel sad for you actually
When Jane Daniel got hurt
I'm pretty much a player
On the team
That's why
Yeah
He's part of the organization
Max
Other injury news
Are you ready for case
Keenum because you're about to get a buddy.
Yeah.
So Tyson Beagent,
concussion protocol.
Case Keenum.
Yeah.
There's one notable game that Case Keenum played the Eagles and it didn't go very
well.
Not a lot younger, I would say.
But yeah, we're going to go Case Keenum on Monday night.
What a fun, fun event.
Ben Johnson, though.
That's the Michael Pennex.
We got Michael Pennex and then we also got Case Keatom.
Yeah, right.
This is a surprise concussion.
because I don't think anybody knew that he was her, right?
He got hit really hard on that last play.
Okay.
So I think that's what it was from.
Okay.
The last sack, if you want to pull it up, I believe was what it was.
But yeah, Case Keatom.
I had a few people be like, this is how I found out Case Keatom was still in the league.
It's like, no, Case Keatom.
Case Keatim actually, I think, is neighbors with Caleb and good friends.
Yeah, this is the play.
Oh, yeah.
He got slammed.
Yeah.
Slam to the turf.
I'm going to try to do one of those analogies about, like, what to expect with Case Keenum.
I think Case Keenum is the Andy Dalton of Cooper Rushes.
Okay, wait, hold on.
No.
Andy Dalton is better than Case Keen.
No, that's not what he's saying.
That's not what he's saying.
He's the Andy Dalton of Cooper Rushes.
Oh, I, I think he's, I think he's better than that.
What would you put him at?
I think he's like, ugh.
He's one of the great career.
He's one of the best Cooper Rushes.
Because Case Keatom was, did have a, like, a legitimate.
good year.
He had a couple years in, in, uh, in Minnesota and then a decent year in Denver, I want to say.
Yeah, he made that up.
He was our starter going into a season one year.
Yeah.
So I think he's better.
He's, he might be the Patrick Mahomes of Cooper Rushes.
Do you think the Pat, the very best of Cooper Rushes?
No, no.
Because Cooper Rushes are bad.
Right, right.
The Patrick Mahomes of Cooper Rushes might be Drew Locke.
But Drew Locke was also a starter.
He slings it.
Like, Drew Locke was.
I don't know
because Keith's Keenum was kind of
like drafted as like a backup
kind of. Kyle Orton might be the
Patrick Mahomes of Cooper Rushes.
Yeah, but there's a yeah, this is
I think Nick Foles would be the Patrick Mahomes
of Cooper Rushes. True. Yeah, yeah.
And also he's not, by the way, he's not anymore.
Case Keatum. Tom Brady
of Patrick? Case Keenum's.
I think Tom, Tom Brady is the
Nick Foles of Cooper
Rushes. Yeah. Of True Bledso's.
I think that might actually make a lot of sense if you think about it
yeah case keenum's good year in the NFL was nine years ago so it's no longer he might be
he might be the jack strand of cooper rushes at this which is also like an improvement maybe maybe
or maybe the philip river of that that would be good though the philip rivers of cooper rushes
yeah yeah yeah because yeah journeyman and old yeah i don't think max is getting what you guys
It's okay.
I think I'm kind of getting next.
Kind of.
We're trying to get it.
I'm saying, yeah, and nodding.
Yeah, we're there.
No, come on.
You can be nice.
You're being nice.
I'd be nice, yeah.
I'm feeling weird.
Good point, Max.
We're going to stream this game, Max.
Okay.
We'll stream it.
Yeah.
Case Keenum in week three is.
You never want to be case key.
You never want to hit the case Keenum button in week three.
It's a little early in the day.
It's drinking all that case Keenum.
Way too.
Yeah, you need to.
The doctor needs to prescribe you.
You can't just be getting case came off the shelf.
Let's wait until we get off work before we start casing.
Yeah.
Okay.
Also, Caleb Williams, two to four.
We talked about that.
We did.
Yeah, we didn't verify that.
Yeah, so we're actually taping this like three hours after we talked about everything.
So it's verified two to four?
That's the time.
Oh, generally that I still feel like we don't have a real answer.
We don't.
That's from rap before.
Certainly seems like Caleb Williams is unlikely to start this week.
And next week we will see two to.
four weeks generally the diagnosis for these kind of hamstring injuries.
Yeah, not really.
Which are pretty severe handstring.
Not really.
Two to four weeks, Hank, what you say?
Super severe.
I mean, two to four weeks is, what's the, a cicadas life is, what, three weeks?
Yeah, and when you think about a fruit fly, this is probably like thousands of fruit fly life.
So Caleb Williams got the death sentence for cicadas.
I'd say for at least like 10,000 fruit flies.
Yeah.
An entire like.
Put it into perspective.
Civilization of flies.
Next time you make a joke,
just stop yourself and say,
what if Caleb Williams is a fruit fly?
It'd be tough.
And then be like,
wait, why did I ask myself that?
What did these fucking guys say?
And then you go on with your day.
All right,
let's do hot seat,
cool throne.
This episode is brought to you
by Body Armor Flash IV.
Flash IV is packed with electrolytes
delivering faster,
longer lasting hydration
without any artificial dyes,
flavors, or sweeteners,
whether you're training,
traveling, just feeling the heat
or cheering on your team.
Work hard and hydrate hard
with body armor flash IV.
Grab it at 7-11 today.
Body armor flash IV.
All right, Hank.
My hot seat is AI videos, believing AI videos.
And you've believed in a couple of recent.
Yeah, we already docks my age.
So I think it might just be an age thing, old eyes.
But yeah, there was the video of Jane Daniels teammates running away, even though Marks
Marriota stayed.
People are saying, like, if it's, I'm glad we're, some people are, like, if it was
half time, wouldn't that mean they had 10?
time to watch to make sure he was good?
No, it means they're all leaving the field at that time.
At halftime...
But it's like, all right, it's a break.
Let's just make sure our quarterback, our franchise quarterback,
our captain is able to move.
Got it.
You can do whatever you want.
Right.
So they...
If you want to stay on a few best time...
Yeah.
Right.
So they could have stayed.
Most coaches give you that option.
Like if you'd like to sit on the bench by yourself, read a book, that's cool.
But they were like, we don't...
So if you want to stay and watch your quarterback, that's cool.
But they were like, nah.
Let's go to the locker room and, like, eat a...
eat at orange. Yeah. That's what they do.
Dan Quinn passes out tangerines, actually.
You're being very ugly. And the barrel drinks.
You've been very ugly. But regardless that, that was not my point. That was not my point.
Right. There was another. You are, this is a misstep because I, the thing I, I am not concerned
about it all is that his teammates like him. I, me too. I trust. I, like, you. And also,
remember, he said he's going to spend all his time trolling you. You are my guiding light in the
situation and then. Well, I thought about that more big cat. I don't think, you know, as a 41 year old man,
That's not, I don't have time to be, I don't have time to waste trolling.
A 33 year old boy.
Yeah.
But there was another video circulating today of LeBron James in like a preseason workout,
just bricking shot after shot after shot after shot.
AI?
I think so.
You guys, you guys watching and you tell me.
Yeah, you say me, you be the judge.
I genuinely, like, that's where like I'm a little, you know, skeptical.
Max, can you bring it up?
I noticed you didn't look this one.
up. You have Miami, Georgia Tech.
Well, we were talking about Miami, Georgia.
Yeah, we were. Are you going to...
I sent it if Max can't, you know, lock in and find it.
Where did you send it? I've got a... I texted the group.
I've got a Brown fan. We could just type in LeBron Brick.
Oh, yeah, I saw that guy.
Which one?
Did you... The guy who tweeted us or no?
No, that different guy.
Okay. Different guy. I think his name is like number one Cleveland Browns fan.
Okay. Which is a great... Oh, that was a brick.
Okay, let's see what he's doing here.
That's a tough shot running
This is sad
What are you guys are doing?
I'm not doing it
It's sad
That's from half court
A little heat check there
That actually makes
You're terrified
If you're looking up
LeBron practice videos for
I'm not looking these up
These are flooding my timeline
Flooding
He's had a double flood
If you've been paying attention
That's hard to have two
It's hurricane season
It's great
Hank has recently
Been stricken with
inability to tell
what's AI and what's not.
So he's just asking us for help.
Because you used to be really sure.
Like did you see the video of Trump and Vladimir Putin
rapping together? That was, that wasn't real.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
But these videos, you're like, they might be real.
This one looks so real, but it's LeBron.
So it's like there's no way he's throwing up this many bricks against absolute
nobody's.
Yeah.
Sure.
Right?
Yep.
It is kind of crazy.
Oh, it is.
This looks like our Friday, Friday afternoon pickup games.
Oh my God.
It does look like, you know, he definitely.
He definitely sucks.
Father time is undefeated.
Yeah, for sure.
It's come right now.
For who?
It's come for LeBron.
Yeah.
We're talking about high school gym practice videos.
Yeah.
That's a telltale sign.
First thing you lose.
He stinks.
First thing that you lose is your ability to hit running floters against 19.
You're telling me that we have practice videos at a high school gym?
Well, it might not be real.
Oh, yeah.
We're watching full tape right now.
I like that.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, you don't watch tape.
Cancel the season.
LeBron's done.
Celtics.
Champions, I guess.
Paul George.
He's young, right?
Yeah, he's got it.
Him and the Great Hairline.
Jalen Brown, fencing.
Those are cool clips.
He's in France, like practicing fencing.
Is he really?
Yeah.
That's not your guy anymore.
He's sword fighting?
I know.
I miss him, though.
I mean, he miss him.
It's cool.
Why is he practicing fencing?
Because he's Jalen Brown.
He's an eclectic guy.
He should be practicing defense.
And then my cool throw is flatulence,
national sports show,
National Sports Pod.
You are the fart guy.
On national sports television today,
I saw a segment I woke up, turned on my TV,
he was watching Fox Sports One,
and saw Saints quarterback,
Tyler Shuck, talking about how my fart in the off season,
what did he say?
He sent waves through the locker room.
He sent shock waves through the locker room.
Was he talking about the Saints?
locker room or the Pelicans locker room because they
I don't understand why this is
I was wearing that
I said that on the show it was like well it was
close to the Pelicans facility
I who said that because
I was explaining why I was wearing that dumb ass
hat yeah it was
because your initial the Pelicans
your initial explanation for why you farted
was they shared a team facility
they do and that's why I was wearing the hat
and that's why the clip was embarrassing not because of the
the like the fart
echo chair, but because I was wearing the hat.
The echo chair is because the facility was connected to the Saints facility.
But either way, like,
you know, it could have been considered a bad moment.
I never thought about it that way.
And it's clearly inspiring our guy, shuck.
So, I don't think he said, I don't think he said the word inspiration.
Definitely didn't say inspiration.
He may have.
No, I think he, I think he might have said the first half's been,
the first half of the first game was bad because of Hank's.
fart. I don't think you said that. I'm pro
the fart being the difference
maker for Shuck. Also, Shuck did
say, Kellamore
gave out more game balls and meetings
on Monday when they watched the tape.
Okay, love that. So more than six total.
Did he say how many? He said the big guys got a bunch.
Every offensive lineman, I like that.
So I was happy because that was my first question. I was like, dude,
what happened? Only six game balls. He's like, no, he went back
for more. We got to get those numbers up. My first question
was about Hank's fart. Yeah, good.
It's a good question. It's a good question.
Yeah. Really good question.
Okay, PFT.
You said government in the end too.
That was crazy.
What?
Well, yeah, you're a journalist.
33-year-old.
Yeah, chill.
181.
What did you?
What would you like him to call you?
If he's listening.
Well, I don't call him Christopher.
I wouldn't just said, hey, Christopher.
Oh.
But then he followed up.
I also noticed he followed up with a Hank.
Right.
Which was good.
Yeah.
That means he was very aware of your prowess in that.
Yeah, he respects HIPA.
Mm-hmm.
Okay, so just for future reference, I'm never to refer to you as Henry again.
You can, but again, like, I'm not going to call you the E word.
Thank you.
I could, but out of respect for HIPAA, I don't.
Okay.
Jerry's the only one who's got the E-pass.
Yeah.
Dan Campbell.
Dan Campbell, too.
Dan Campbell.
My hot seat is Mike McCarthy, head coach, the Steelers.
A lot of people are saying the Steelers' offense looks a lot like it did last year
and the year before that and the year before that and the year before that.
We're people, we're part of that.
Yeah, we have said that.
Yeah, yeah.
So, yeah, when I say that a lot of people, I do include this room because it does, if we're
being honest.
100%.
But Mike McCarthy is not on the hot seat for that.
It's because it feels like Aaron Rogers is exercising almost too much accountability for
himself.
And I think he has to get his quarterback in line and be like, hey, man, you can't take everything
all the blame on your shoulders.
You need to spread that around a little bit.
a team here. So Aaron Rogers, after the game, he said, the best teams are player-led teams.
We have to keep taking ownership. In a game like today, there wasn't a lot of flow to it.
We need to be better. And it starts with me. That's really mature by Aaron Rogers.
That's really, really mature. He says, it starts with me at making sure Mike McCarthy knows
what's working, what's not working, and that our coaches know. So we can all feel like we have a
better chance. So this is a great job by Aaron Rogers taking full responsibility that he needs
do a better job of educating his coaches of what plays they're calling and which one suck.
Yes, that's good accountability.
It's really good accountability by Aaron Rogers.
And I think there's a big step forward for the team.
I'm looking for the Steelers to bounce back this week.
What a leader.
Big leader.
Yeah.
My cool throne is going to be James Madison, and it's not because necessarily we have a 19%
chance of making the college football playoff again this year.
Oh, hell yes.
It's more the fact that I thought looking at the rest of our schedule, what that's going to
to mean for me for the rest of the season, which is going to be a lot of talk about how easy
our schedule is. And I would never attack a team for playing an easy schedule. Like if you get your
wins, that's, you deserve every advantage that you have in the playoffs. And if someone were to find
you attacking an easy schedule, you could simply just say, well, that was old me. If, yeah,
yeah, that's only I'm 41 now. And I moved on and evolved and it sounds like you're part of the
bar stilification of the universe. Yeah, I'd agree with you. Yeah. You can't be held accountable for
things in the past. Right. So that's crazy. That's crazy. Live with me here now. Yeah. I'm, I'm currently
not committing any crimes. So I don't know what your problem is. Also Virginia Tech's fault.
Also Virginia Tech's fault. Also Virginia Tech's fault. And James, so I looked at the numbers.
Wait, no. Virginia Tech, because they canceled the game. You cancel the game. You don't play
them. Yeah. You were supposed to play Virginia Tech, but Virginia Tech canceled. I'm aware. This,
this happened against multiple power conference members where they just cancel games against
JMU, so we can't play a hard schedule anymore. But the status. But the status. It's
is we're 23 and oh against the state of Virginia and since 2015 and we got another one coming
up this weekend against O'DU but I thought more about what that's going to look like at the
end of the season it would be great to make the playoff again like twice in a row as a little
bitty school that used to be FCS but then what would that look like it's like every year we
make the college football playoff and we get her asses kicked and that doesn't seem like a great
like and what max I feel like that seems like the best case scenario for you right now I know
that's what I'm saying. That's a very weird best case scenario to be in,
is to make the college football playoff go up against like the third best team in the country
and then hopefully cover a 21 point spread.
And that's kind of, that's a weird place to have that be the ultimate goal for your season.
But anyways, you play who's in front of you.
I'm just, I'm excited that Jamie is back in the conversation a little bit trepidacious
of what that's going to mean.
Hell yes.
Yeah.
Hell yes.
All right.
My hot seats, I don't really have a hot seat.
I have a cool throne.
We've talked about everything.
My hot seat is anyone who made fun of Caleb.
I'll just say that.
My cool throne is Deshawn Watson
because Todd Munkin said that he's a young player
that is going to continue to grow.
Yeah.
31 years old.
Yeah.
He's older than Patrick Mahomes,
Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson,
and the Ravens offensive coordinator.
He's a young player that's continued to grow.
I'm a little concerned about what parts of him
are going to continue.
to grow. Young player continue to grow.
That's, yeah, it's, sometimes coaches just get up in front of the media and they're verbally
just hitting the fast forward button to get them out from doing more media. Yeah.
It's like, let's just get to the end of this practice. I'm going to say words that I've heard
other coaches say before and hopefully you won't follow up and then I can go back to doing my job.
Yes, yes. Young Deshawn Watson.
Ideally, young Deshaun Watson was a great player.
31 year old, does that make Hank old at 33?
Yeah, for a quarterback. Yes.
Yeah.
And Lester Tom Brady.
Yeah.
Or in Rogers.
That makes you young.
Or in Rogers.
Yeah.
Taking accountability.
All right.
Hot seat.
Cool throne, Zach.
My hot seat this week is going to be miracle drugs.
Because we may be at the end of the line when it comes to GOP ones, boys.
You see all lawsuits that came out this morning?
No.
All GLP ones are apparently making people blind.
Ooh.
Are you guys familiar with?
But are they still skinny?
I don't, 99.
999 of them out of them out of a.
with 10,000 maybe, but also blind.
But if fat and can see, blind and skinny.
So skinny, maybe can't see yourself skinny, though.
So fat.
But then you can't find the food.
My eyes are working pretty well.
I haven't taken them as well.
Yeah, I feel like you took it like once a year.
Once a couple of months.
I gotta get back.
Oh, you haven't been taking them?
I've taken them.
What's the most consistent you ever were with taking them?
Wedding season.
No, before the wedding, I was taking them pretty consistently.
Is it something?
Usually drugs aren't you supposed to, like, when you get.
get sick and they give you antibiotics, you're supposed to take them every day until you're better?
Well, it's supposed to be once a week.
And so you just say, you're like, you know what?
I've taken a couple weeks off.
Like every drug, I'm just going to, I'm going to do it whenever I want.
No, it's, okay.
Sometimes you forget.
You're taking recreational GLP one.
No, no, no, no.
I got to get back.
You start smoking it.
When you feel like it.
Okay.
No, I got to get back.
But you can see.
Yeah, eyes are good.
Eyes are good.
How many people are blind?
So they're saying right now, uh, one in 10,000 probably get it.
And it's, I think those odds are fine if you're trying to get skinny.
Is it permanent?
They say, yeah, so it's not, not permanent.
Definitely permanent.
It's enteretic.
Wait, what?
Interior.
So it is permanent blindness.
Like it leads to like, it's not like, oh, I couldn't see for like two days.
But now I'm back.
They call antiretic, ischmetic optic, neuropathy.
Okay.
And it leads a rapid and permanent vision loss.
So, we thought we were in a good spot, but back to square one.
I thought that this time the miracle drug that made everybody lose weight and get skinny was going to come with no side effects.
Yeah.
They made it seem hot.
Like we got all the commercials.
We got great guys on me.
Shack and everybody making it seem like a good idea.
Yeah.
Shack wouldn't put his name behind an inferior product.
What's the number?
What's, if I said to you there is some.
Max, Max is upset.
I feel like one in ten thousand.
Every single drug has some sort of side effects.
That was Hank doing his max impression.
Yeah.
That's pretty good.
No, that was honestly a fair.
What would the number be for you to not do?
Like if I told you there's a miracle drug that gives you endless energy,
it makes you look hot,
but a hundred out of,
or maybe a thousand out of 10,000,
do you die?
I need to go one,
one out of.
A thousand out of 10,000 would be one out of.
That's one out of 10.
No, it's not.
Oh, yes, it is.
Sorry, I didn't know you needed me to reduce the fraction.
One at everyone, you're always supposed to reduce a fraction.
Okay.
Sorry, I didn't reduce the fraction.
One out of ten.
Ten out of ten.
One out of ten is too many.
Too many.
What about ten out of a hundred?
That actually sounds bad.
That's also one out of ten.
All right, what about three out of a hundred?
One out of one out of a hundred is where you start to have the conversation.
One percent.
One percent's enough.
I don't know.
We're fine.
That's what I'm saying.
I'm still considering it one out of a hundred.
One out of ten thousand.
easy.
Yeah.
I mean, it would be real shame if I got.
It is funny, though, to think about, like, how our brain works.
Like, what's the number?
If they're like, hey, this thing will, we'll fix everything.
But all the.
One out of every 20 people die, are you, you're like, hmm.
Am I, am I good?
Am I 19 or am I one?
Ultimately, this, I think it does a lot of good.
Like, a lot of people losing weight that really need to lose weight.
Probably extending a lot of lives.
out there. Definitely certainly, but like, blindness?
Blindness? That's a tough side effect. What do you guys thought? One out of 10,000.
I might be down to go blind if I was born blind, but I think becoming blind has to be way
worse because you know what you're missing. You're also one-one, paranoid guy. That's true.
Zach, I disagree with that, though. I know what you're saying, but I think if you have some
frame of reference to how the world works and then you go blind, yeah, you know what you're
missing, but at least you understand, like, conceptually what things are. Oh, that's fair.
That makes a lot of sense, actually. Okay.
I think that this is a worse headline
than if it was like one out of 10,000 people die.
Definitely.
Okay.
Like just in terms of like shock headlines.
If it says one out of 10,000 people
go permanently blind for the rest of your life,
people are like, oh shit.
Like that shocks you a little bit.
They said they were flood the zone with lawsuits today,
so I wasn't sure.
Also not to be like super woke,
but I assume all of these headlines
are just the drug companies
fighting against the food industry.
And they're just playing it out online.
And sometimes.
So there will get another one in a couple weeks.
It's like there are no side effects for GLP ones.
And they're actually a miracle drug.
And then the food industry will come back and say, actually, you diarrhea out of your asshole and die.
And then we just have to decipher which one like the people.
That's just all this stuff is.
Yeah.
That's true.
They might have just got me with the blindness.
Big company.
Big food and big drug having a nice old dust up in the streets.
of the internet and we just were the ones to suffer from all of it.
And then meeting behind the scenes with a negotiator being like,
guys, if we can come to an understanding, everybody can eat.
Yeah.
There's room to go around.
We just got to compromise.
You need to, it's like a mob meeting.
You can sit down behind the scenes.
Like you need to go 10% softer on the accusations of blindness.
And you need to pull aside like some of your most potent drugs that are making people not eat Cheetos.
Yeah, lobbyist is going to get involved and we're going to nerf the GLP ones and then the
GLP, the drug companies are going to get
like stock options in
in big food. Yeah, sir, for
your service. And the losers will be
us again. A lifetime supply of
Twinkies, sir, for your dedication to public
health. Oh, so it's like Keep America Fat, but you guys
can get a piece? Yeah. Right. Exactly.
That's how all this works.
Then my cool thing this week is going to be
Activision because we're finally hammered down on
guys virtually cheating. Recently
they came out that cheating in video games
is an $8.5 billion industry
annually and we're finally taking a stang.
Okay, how?
All right, so they shut down like...
Did you sign a pledge?
365 major cheating operations.
Okay.
Sent out roughly ADC synestis.
They're hammering down on the cheaters.
It's actually bigger than you think.
Yeah, it's bigger than you think?
Yeah, because the ricochet anti-chee from Activision, historically dog shit.
But now they're just arresting guys.
Like, all right, if you don't want to play by the virtual terms, take these IRL cuffs.
Wait, are you serious?
Yeah.
I'm kind of okay with that.
Me too.
Send him the brink
The gulag
Yes gone
Not coming back
Don't respawn
Wait how are people actually getting arrested
Because like it is illegal to sell these
Like these cheating subscriptions
And these like wall hacks and aobots
And the Forever Greens and stuff
Is it illegal to buy them?
Hmm
I don't know the answer to that
I would want to say morally yes
On paper probably
But couldn't they just go to like a country
Where it's not illegal to sell these
And then just sell them
You're just funny
You're describing the war on drugs right now.
That is, you can, they probably won't extradite, yeah.
So you probably could go to a different country.
I can only speak on domestic soil, what's going down.
So nothing's going to change.
There's going to be cartels.
Nothing's going to change.
But guess what?
What you have to do is you have to eliminate the market for cheaters in the United States.
Joey Greco.
Yeah.
Ashley Madison.
That'll never happen, though, because that's a moral conflict and guys are going to cheat forever.
But this is huge.
This is actually big.
Did you guys watch that Ashley Madison, Dr.
I don't know. It's just like, they're like, yeah, it was 99% dude just talking to each other.
Yeah, it's great.
It's like you just, you just lost your marriage because you were chatting with a dude online, thinking it was a chick.
What, what chick would sign up for a website where it's like, hey, meet, meet up with a bunch of guys that want to cheat on their wives?
Yeah.
Like, if girls want to cheat on their husband, I got news for you, they can do it just by, like, walking outside.
Yeah, exactly.
They actually get further away from computers.
It was a very funny watch.
Very funny watch.
All right.
Any other ones, Zach?
Good?
Those are we covered most everything else?
That's all I have for today.
Okay.
Let's get to our interview.
Awesome interview with Scotty Sheffler.
We have Joe Davis in person.
Before we do that, PFT.
Before we get to our good friend, Scotty Sheffler, live in person, getting ready for the
President's Cup.
He's brought to you by our great friends over at Reese's.
I got my Reese's right here at the Oreo.
The Reese's Oreos.
So good.
Love the Reese's marshmallows.
That is my new favorite.
But there's something for everyone when it comes to Reese's.
I like the fast break.
I like everything Reese's ever put out.
Reese's pieces, nothing like some Reese's pieces in a Sunday and some frozen yogurt.
I had some Froyo with Reese's pieces as to blend in the other day.
It's awesome.
It doesn't matter if it's vanilla, chocolate, cookie dough.
You put some Reese's pieces in there, and then it becomes an event.
Rhesus is delicious.
Chocolate, peanut butter, all of your favorites.
There's no competitor to Reese's.
Reese is the official candy partner of Barcelona Sports.
They do the Reese's lounge here.
I went up there before Thursday night football last week.
Had a couple of Reese's chilled out.
Great place to hang.
Shout out to Reese's great company.
And they're the best.
And frankly, they probably don't need to advertise because their product is that good.
You know it.
You love it.
But I'm glad that they do because I love Reese's.
Go get Reese's wherever you shop.
Reese's, it is the best.
And Scotty Sheffler is also brought to you by our good friends at Better Help.
If you could wake up tomorrow and be better at one thing, what would that be and why?
Zach.
One thing, if I could be better at tomorrow, I'm going to go with three-point shots.
Okay, Hank.
One v-one, call duty.
Okay.
Guess what?
If I could be better at one thing tomorrow, it would probably be my ability to procrastinate
better because I'm not good enough at it yet.
But we can all work on something.

And now here is Scotty Sheffler.
Okay. We now welcome on a very, very special guest. It is the best golf.
on the planet, Scotty Sheffler in person.
Is that cool when I say best golfer on the planet?
I mean, you are.
I mean, yeah, still not quite used to it.
Yeah, you should be used to it.
Yeah, I'm the best golfer a couple weeks a year.
Yeah, but you're the best golfer on the planet.
We're here, President's Cups here in Chicago this week.
Very excited for it.
Your third President's Cup?
Third Presence Cup?
Your 2-0.
Is there any pressure knowing, like, you guys have to win this?
You have to win the President.
I mean, I think anytime you're representing your country, I think you feel the way to that.
Like, I think sometimes that almost makes it more challenging, knowing kind of like what we're
representing. Like, it's not just playing for your team or playing for your partner. Like,
we're playing for the country. And these tournaments are something that that kind of everybody can get
behind. Yeah. But like the nerves and the pressure you feel is like, you're doing something
that matters. And I think that that's a really cool feeling. Yeah. Is there anything that you do
differently in the preparation? Like team golf as opposed to individual golf mentally has to be a lot
different, but like, besides the obvious nature of you don't want to let, you know, let down your
teammates, is there anything different that you do to prepare? I mean, as far as like the golf stuff,
not really, but I think mentally it needs to be a little bit different because, you know,
every week out of the year, I'm doing my own thing pretty much all the time. Like, and if I let
myself down, that's, that's okay. Like, it's a lot easier letting myself down. And then when you're
standing there with your partner, I think there's definitely kind of like the added weight to it.
Yeah. And so mentally, I think you need to a.
approach it slightly differently than you normally would approach a regular tournament. But overall,
it's just a matter of going out there and trying to execute. And, you know, I got some of my
best friends around this team. I'm looking forward to just going out there and competing and
having some fun with the guys. All right. So not to do the thing where a regular guy compares himself
to a professional athlete, but I'm about to do that. When I'm, I'm a terrible golfer. When I play
in any type of team setting scramble, I always feel so bad because I'm just letting down everyone that I'm
playing with. And I say sorry, like, cons. I'll literally, like, just hit a drive. Just be like,
sorry, my bad, dude. Do you think that you being the best player in the world, like your
partners ever feel that? Do you have to give them a little talk being like, dude, I'm just Scotty,
like, let's go win together. Because I do think there's an element. I mean, you saw it with Tiger
when he played in these tournaments. Phil, when you're the best, the guy you're playing with your
partner probably feels extra pressure that you're not putting on him, but he might be putting on
himself. Yeah, I think that a lot of that just comes with the team environment. Like, I
grew up playing team sports and I always felt a little bit more pressure there just because you're playing
for your teammates as well. You're playing for something that's bigger than yourself. And I've never
had that discussion, but I've always become really close with the guys that I've played with just because
going out into that environment where there is so much pressure, there's a lot of stress attached to it.
Like you really feel like you're, I mean, you're stepping into the arena in a big way. And it's
it's very important that you're on the same page with whoever you're out there with.
You say sorry in team golf? So I have one, one.
one story about that.
Sam Burns and I were playing.
It was my first presence cup.
We were playing an alternate shot.
And we had agreed not to say sorry to each other.
Yeah.
That was like, we're not going to say sorry.
Like we're not going to do it.
And we get to, I think it was like the ninth hole.
And I cold shanked an iron shot off this par three, like 100 yards straight right into the woods.
And like he's completely screwed from there.
And like, every part of me wants to be like, dude, I'm so sorry.
Right.
I just like literally cold shank like straight.
like clearly going to lose the hole
and we kind of just walk over and Sam's just like
looking straight he has no idea what to say he's probably never
even seen me shank the ball before right he's just
kind of looking straight and he kind of just like gives me
the look and I kind of look at him and I was just
like good luck man
I love it I love it if I were him I would I would have said like
you should actually apologize
it is it's a good rule to have
it's a really good rule because I like I said I mean
when I know it's different playing
professional but like when you play in these settings I just
I just I like it's like a
machine gun of sars that I throw it whoever I'm playing with.
Well, yeah, because you want to be able to perform.
You want to be able to hit the shots.
And especially the shot where you're like actually screwing them over.
He's got to go hit it from the shoes.
I got to walk up to the street.
Exactly.
Yeah, but I mean, it's like you want to hit every shot great,
but I think having the understanding that that's not going to happen.
And so there's no need to apologize.
Like, I know he's trying his best.
And he knows I'm trying my best at some things that sometimes things don't go always as you
plan them.
One of my favorite things about team golf is like the handshakes and high fives whenever
something goes well because I think golfers are like oh for 500,000 on agreeing whether they're doing a fist bump, a high five or a handshake when they're excited.
Like I don't think it's ever connected.
I think it's always like there's only one choice out of the three that you have to make.
And it never links up.
Do you guys have like I know in team sports you get traded to a new team?
You have a bunch of new handshakes and stuff.
Do you guys have anything like that?
I think we probably need to be a little bit more connected on that.
Like I can definitely think of some examples of like not knowing exactly how to celebrate.
Yeah.
Especially somebody like isn't very performative to begin with.
So then like when you do get really excited like, yeah, typically like it's hard to get on the same page.
Like I, this is my first writer cup.
We're trying to celebrate something.
And I think we almost missed the high five.
And then we somehow ended up like stumbling into a chest bump somehow.
Yeah.
Yeah.
No, what to do.
And then like I think I tried to high five him again.
He just like walked off.
Yeah.
Yeah.
The problem is because golf is a sport that you shake hands.
No other sport are you like shaking hands as much as you shake hands in golf,
especially at the end of the round.
So you guys aren't used to the high fives.
We got to get the jumping hip bump.
You know that?
Like the jump side thing?
We need to get like a, you know, I don't know if it's allowed for the President's Cup,
but it would be great if we got like a Dominican baseball player on the team just to like teach you guys.
I was about to say we need somebody to teach us.
Just loosen it up a little.
You know what I mean?
Just like have some fun with it.
I would like to see something like a scramble at one.
of these, if it's the President's Cup or if it's the
Rider Cup, like, let the boys
go out there do a scramble, see how low you can go?
Like, how low do you think you could get
with, like, if you were to pick
three other guys from the President's
Cup team, how low do you think you could
shoot at Medina? Oh, if you have four
of us in a scramble? I mean, you could
shoot, you could shoot pretty low. I feel like
a, I feel like a
par would be like a fairly
disappointing result. I'm sure that would happen over the
course of a round. Like, we've never actually tried that, but
I think you, like having four
chances is significantly different than only having, you know, one or two.
Right.
Yeah.
How many of us could, oh, no, we couldn't beat you.
Yeah, we could.
There's nothing.
Yeah, we could.
Like I was saying, like, if we had 20 guys.
If we were 20 guys, we're all between 15 and 25 handicaps.
Yeah, well.
We win a hole?
Yeah, for sure.
Like, golf is one of those sports where, like, you guys can probably all, if you get,
if you're given enough tries, you can all do the things that we do.
It's not a sport.
Probably not.
That's not like, but it's not like watching somebody dunk a basketball.
Yeah.
You'll like never be able to dunk a basketball.
Yeah.
But I'll never be able to hit one straight 330 yards.
Yeah, but you could hit it eventually like you'll hit one 250.
Yeah.
And you know, like the more you try, you'll learn to hit 270.
I can, I'm not more stronger than that.
Like, but like eventually you could do something very close.
Like maybe not hit it 350, but you can hit 300.
You don't hit it 350.
And so like give it enough tries like you can pull off the shot.
Yeah.
you have like 10 guys, you're not going to be able to keep your eyes on all of us.
We're going to cheat.
Yeah.
So we can take a couple of holes off.
True.
The numbers there.
You don't still have hand, foot, and mouth, right?
Okay.
Did you actually have it?
All the remnants are actually gone up until.
My kids had it too.
And I actually, when my oldest had it, I didn't know he had it.
And I was just like, why is his baby crying?
Like, why is he like, why is he touching his feet?
And then I learned about it.
I was like, oh, this is serious.
Yeah.
That sucks.
Fortunately, Remy or younger.
or six-month-old did not get it, but Bennett and I got it pretty good.
It's brutal.
It was awful.
Yeah.
Like it was...
You're a warrior for being out there.
The worst part was my throat.
Like I remember walking off the course on Thursday, and these guys wanted me to do, like, my media stop.
And I was like, I very rarely ever say no.
And I was like, no, like, I can't do it?
And as I was walking off a reporter, I'm really close to it was like, hey, can I actually ask a couple of questions while you're walking?
I was like, no, I cannot talk.
Yeah.
My throat was that bad.
But that's just part of it.
Yeah.
Fortunately, like the blister stayed for a long time on my hands.
That's like it was pretty significant for golf.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Was it like gripping the club?
Um, the first couple days were,
we're not great,
but it got better as the week went on.
They,
they gave me like some steroid cream that I put on my hands that helped.
Like the,
imagine if you got popped.
You're like, dude,
I just,
my kid.
Fortunately,
the tournament had a doctor and I was like,
listen, man,
like,
I think this is what is.
And he's like,
oh, yeah,
he looked at everything.
And then imagine if they were like,
oh,
Scott,
he's on the gear.
he's got he's on steroids like no dude my kid has hand foot and mouth disease
Bryce is like yeah I think I got that too
what do you want me to do oh man
it was not fun yeah no not fun at all not fun at all um also
congrats to your youngest who's not a jinx because I know there was a time when he
hadn't been in the uh he hadn't you had one right and then he was born in march I
didn't win until maybe like August or so is there ever a moment where you're like
is he a jinx?
I had that with all my kids when they were born.
It was like, are you a jinx?
It was about gambling, though.
Figured out.
Gambling, you definitely believe the jinx is for sure.
The kids fall, yeah.
My first, firstborn was born, I went,
O and four in WMBA overs.
And I just, he's a jinx.
For sure.
Do you have any, like, actual superstitions?
I mean, I've used the same yardage book for a long time.
I use the same ballmarker every round.
Oh, what is it?
It's a Dallas Cowboys coin.
Oh, okay.
You're kind of a piece of shit.
Would you like to apologize?
I'm a commander's fan.
Being a Cowboys fan is not fun.
Good.
Yeah, no, that's true.
Yeah.
It's not like I jumped on some bandwagon.
Like the last time they made, I think, an NFC championship was before I was born.
Yeah.
So, like, I'm, I should get, like, a reward for being as loyal as I.
Yeah, that is true.
Like, if you're, I mean, you can relate to that.
Like, it's not.
PFT he put a jinx on the Cowboys yesterday.
like, oh no, what's going to happen?
They're not going to make an NFC championship game for another 30 years?
Like, they're jinx.
I was, it was a moment of, emotions were running high after the game.
And then I went back.
I saw the post that the Cowboys put out before the game on, like, Friday.
And it was Jaden injured lying on the ground from last year's game.
And so I was upset about that.
So I put a jinx on the Cowboys.
I will remove the jinks if you apologize on behalf of the Cowboys.
I don't know what they posted.
I can't dive into those waters.
We don't celebrate injuries, but the Cowboys did.
So I had no choice but to jinx them.
But I mean, they look pretty good right now.
It's a curse.
It's a curse.
It's a curse.
I was out of options.
Yeah, I had nothing that was just kind of flailing at the world.
But they do look good this year.
Yeah, is this the year?
The offense looks good.
I tell you what, I was really excited for the season to start.
Just because, like, we drafted a bunch of guys on defense.
Like, the defense actually got better as a year went on last year.
like the guys we traded for at the deadline like and then they played the Giants it was awful yeah that was bad yeah
and then I got to watch a bit of the game yesterday and it was it was better but then like you're playing a backup quarterback
I don't know how much that factors in but yeah he's a pretty good backup he is a good backup I'm still I'm just hurt
hurt people hurt people that's what I'm going through right now but you guys got to watch watch the games together that's
kind of cool yeah it's fun like for for me just being able to sit down and watch football like we were sitting at the
course. And I'm like, you know, my kids are at the hotel. Like, this is some free time that we
don't really get. It wasn't the worst thing to get rained out. So we kind of just caught up with the
guys and watch the games. Do you guys? Do you guys take a bus to the to the course? Yeah,
bus the course. That's probably good for you. Yeah. It's not bad. It's not bad.
That all happened. Have you, like, it's been enough time now where we can just be like, that was nuts.
So, like, people always joke about me getting arrested.
Like, I got, I got, like, I didn't just get arrested.
I got charged with assaulting a police officer.
Like, I didn't just, like, get, like a, like, I got charged with assaulting a police officer.
So it was, like, Sam actually wore the t-shirt with my mugshot to the, to the, to the, our team room last night.
I love that.
The joke continues to.
It's crazy.
Like, I just remember in that morning waking up, being like, what?
Scotty?
What did you do?
Yeah, I had the same feeling.
When the story came out, it was just like, oh, okay, this is not, he didn't do anything bad.
It was a wild miscommunication.
But yeah, street, you know, street credit for you.
Yeah.
Don't mess with me.
I'll go to jail.
I mean, at one point it's got to be, you have to understand what a ridiculous situation it's in.
But then when you read, like, felony.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like, excuse me?
What?
Well, that was, it wasn't like I just went to jail.
Like, I got charged with a very, very serious crime.
Well, you did ruin his pants.
Yeah.
I read the police report the other day.
I had to remind myself, the very last sentence.
What is the police report says?
The very last sentence of the police report was,
and the officer's pants were damaged beyond repair.
Yep.
Pretty disgusting.
That's the old classic Cowboys fan stuff.
And by the way, credits you,
I assume you never dropped like a,
do you know who I am?
No, I didn't.
You probably said I'm playing in the tournament, I would assume.
To be honest with you,
I don't remember a whole lot of what happened after.
when I remember him trying to like get me out of the car and I was just like I'm not getting out of this car until some police officers show up right like not knowing who the person was trying to get into my car and then like next thing I know I'm in handcuffs in like the back of the police car and I was like whatever this guy tells me to do like I'm not saying a word yeah smart like I can only get myself into right right right but not like seriously like the if there was a video of you being like do you know who I am that's the worst for like a celebrity or or famous person yeah well it was like I was like I'm
I, like, in that situation, I was just like, okay, like, I know I didn't do anything wrong.
So, like, if long as I just, like, do what I'm told, everything will work out and everything worked out and like.
What did you shoot that day?
Shot, I think, six under.
Yeah, it's pretty good.
It was good.
What's a lead that you're like, all right, I'm probably out of this?
Because you had one this year.
Was it the Masters that you were, like, 13 back and then you got all the way down to like.
Yeah, I mean, is there, are you like, I'm always going.
to be like, I'm going to be back in this.
Because you have, I feel like that is something that you're really,
really good at that like you can be hovering around Thursday, Friday,
and then Saturday, Sunday come.
It's like, up, here comes Scotty.
Like, this is what's happening.
He's making a charge.
Yeah, I think it's like, I always pride myself on trying to do my best.
And like, that's not something that I take very lightly.
And so, like, if I'm going to show up to a tournament, like,
I'm showing up to play 72 holes and play as hard as I can.
I feel like that's what I'm called to do.
Like, my calling when I get to a tournament is to compete as hard as I can.
And, you know, there's been some tournaments where, you know, I could have maybe been out of it.
And then I played some really good golf to get myself back into it.
Yeah.
Like, there's definitely some examples over the course of my career where there were some times I could have given up.
And like one of them I think about often is like when I, the Olympics in France, I shot, I think maybe like a 29 on the back nine to get into metal position.
And it was just like, like, I remember walking off the ninth green just so pissed.
I wasn't holding any puts.
I look at my caddy and I'm like, I'm like ready to break.
my putter. And I was like, Teddy, like, I think I'm going to put better with my lob
which, like, it's probably time to break it. Like, it's over. And he's like, no, no, no,
like just don't break it. Like, give it to me. And I was like, Teddy, I'm pretty sure I'd put
better with my lob witsch. Like, in that moment, you feel like giving up because, like, it's a
hard game and it can get really frustrating. And but Teddy talked me off the ledge and we end up
going out there and having a great back nine and, and put ourselves in a position to do something
really cool. That's, yeah. Like, I think when I look back at my career, like, I want to say that I
gave it everything that I could and
yeah like that that's mental toughness
because I'll tell you right now I would quit so fast
if like if things start going bad it's like I'm out
yeah I mean just like if you work really hard for something
you don't want to just you don't want to just give in and
I don't know I feel like I take a lot of pride and like if I get off to
a tough start like it's part of you know perseverance and fortitude
and all that stuff yeah getting in there and just continuing to
grind things out like I yeah I'm definitely proud of
those things for sure. Yeah, definitely. You should be. I mean, that is like, I really do mean it.
Like, there's, there's so many times where I'm watching a golf tournament and in the first
couple days, you're like down there. It's like, Scotty will be heard from at some point. Like,
he will, there will be a moment where everyone be like, watch out, here comes Scotty. And that's,
you can't say that about every guy. You know, there's some guys that like when they're,
when they have a bad first two days, like, that's it. There's no coming back. It's like,
you're always a threat. And I feel like other people feel that too.
Yeah, yeah, I mean, I just be honest, I don't really know how to elaborate on it.
Like, I feel like when I step up on the first tee, I want to tell myself that I did everything I could in order to play well.
And now my job is to compete.
And so then, you know, we're given another four days to compete.
And that's what I'm called to do.
And I don't really, I don't really think much, much past that.
Yeah.
You seem like a process guy, somebody that takes a lot of joy in the process and then the results kind of speak to the work that you put in.
But you definitely, in order to achieve what you've done, I'm sure that you have goals and things that you want to.
accomplish. Like what what do you want to to have accomplished when all is said and done in terms of
your golf career? Whoa, that's a heavy question. That is a heavy question. I've never been a guy
that's like written down goals. I've have like what I would call dreams and aspirations. But I've
always been at my best when I just live really day to day. And like I am a process guy for sure.
Like one of my favorite things in the world is going out and practicing by myself. Like I just love
trying to figure things out and golf is a puzzle that can pretty much never be solved. And that's one of my
favorite things in the world. Like, I love practicing and trying to improve and, and figure this game out.
And, like, that's why I feel like I keep coming back. Like, I don't get, I don't get tired of
practicing. I love trying to figure it out. Do you feel like you'll go out and practice? You're like,
I feel like I got better to, like, I fixed something or did something because from the outside, we just
see, you know, professional golfers like, they're just so, so good. They're at a different level.
But you're actually, like, fine tuning stuff and being like, I got better today. I know exactly what I got better.
I mean, I'm definitely always chasing that feeling at the end of the end of the
of the day. There's always some days where you get done at the course and I'm always
like, I was your day and I was like, it was not good. Yeah. But then there's some other days where
you're like, I had a really good, I had a really good day. Yeah. I felt like I definitely improved. And
I feel like more often than not, I want that feeling when I leave the course. And we're always
kind of striving to get there. And I feel like I can get a little bit impatient, I think,
sometimes when it's not going that way. Yeah. Yeah. By the way, when you, I think I, was it a FedEx
prank video with Eli Manning? That was the worst costume ever. You knew that was a
Eli, right? Yeah, I think he showed up on the
range. Yeah, come on. At first,
at first he had his head down.
And so you couldn't really tell, but he was like, he's so
tall. Yeah, he's just, you're like, you're not a normal
looking person. We like Eli, but it was like,
dude, come on, you got to put on like some
prosthetics or something. Yeah, or like, have
a chair or something. Like, just seeing him standing there,
like he came up to us in the range and he just got his head
down. He's like 6'6, Mike.
Who's this guy?
He always sounds like a manning,
no matter what voice he puts up. Yeah, that's true.
I'm just here with FedEx. Yeah.
I got a question for you, kind of a serious question,
because when we've had you on before,
I've always, I think I said it last time you're on,
like, I love how honest you are as an athlete.
I think that's rare for athletes to be able to be honest,
like talking about your faith, talking about your family.
When it comes, like, and it's always weird to me with sports media
where it's like, guys are honest and then we criticize them.
It's like, no, we want them to be honest,
want them to be themselves.
Would you say that, like, as a man, like, crying after an injury is like,
fine, like a hamstring injury.
But what if it's, it's probably a really bad hamstring injury that you're talking about, right?
It seems really bad.
He's like getting parked off and like, everyone's like, oh, fuck.
But it might not have bad.
So I had Caleb, I have Caleb, he was starting on.
So you cried too.
I was like, yeah.
Yeah, okay.
See?
Emotions okay to show.
Well, like on a more, like, if it's a serious question, like, I'm super, super emotional
guy.
I cry at everything.
Love that.
Same.
but yeah, seeing Caleb, like, you just, I don't know what to say to that.
Yeah, because now, like, I read today, it was like a grade one.
Yeah, but in the moment he was really hurt in the moment past.
I'm not going to even begin to try to understand what those football players go through each week.
Thank you.
And, like, we were even watching some of the stuff yesterday.
Like, I can't remember who it was for the Cowboys, but he got hit low.
Yeah, he got stepped on the taint.
The one guy who got stepped on the taint, that did happen in the game.
too. I just remember watching and he was going
across and he got hit like right here.
Yeah. Okay. It might have been
that. Yeah, yeah. With a helmet.
And I'm like, if somebody did that to me, like, he's running
full speed this way. That guy's running full speed this way.
And they just got up. Yeah. I kept playing.
Yeah. I was like, I would never be able to get up from that.
So I don't, I'm not going to go down the,
I'm a golfer. I'm not going to try to relate.
Do you have a straight and hamstring?
No. Oh, no. Okay.
He hasn't heard. What's the word? Yeah. What's the worst
injury you've had?
Hand foot and mouth.
That is pretty bad.
I got a wine glass through my hand a few years ago.
Oh, shit.
Oh, man.
That's like a baseball player injury.
It was pretty dumb.
Yeah.
Or hockey.
Yeah.
It happened here.
Yeah.
That's true.
Yeah.
All right.
So you agree.
Like,
like athletes should be able to show their emotions more.
Yeah.
It's a loaded question.
Oh, that's not really.
You're not talking about emotion.
Yeah.
No.
Are you talking about pain?
Everything.
All in one.
Sometimes.
It's an emotional thing.
I'll be honest.
I did not think.
I did not think that's where that question is going to go.
You like how I did that?
I was like, really teetting it.
I was like, okay, I better put on the serious hat.
And then I just want to be like, Scotty, tell me that it's fine,
that my quarterback had an emotional moment.
It's fine.
It's fine.
Yeah, it's fine.
Exactly.
Thank you.
What was your emotion when you so callously broke Jaden Daniel's elbow?
I was like, man, they really should have kicked a field goal.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Butterfly effect.
Yeah, it's Butterfly effect.
I like, I think, like, seeing injuries in sports really stinks.
Yeah.
Yeah, it sucks.
Like, getting injured.
Like, I remember when I heard my hand, I missed the first couple tournaments.
Like, you put so much work into putting yourself in a position to succeed.
And then you get injured and it's something out of your control.
I think especially in a sport like football where they just get injured all the time.
Like, it really sucks to watch.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It really does.
It does.
I have a sport.
I have a, like, golf, strictly golf nerd related question.
And maybe you can explain it to me because I think a lot of people out there, they watch you play.
They understand you're the best player in the world.
and they look at your feet when you swing.
And they're like, what is going on with the feet?
And I know that there's a reason.
There's like a method behind the madness and something that you're trying to do.
But I realized when I was watching your swing the other day, like, I don't know what that is.
I don't know why you do that with your feet.
So can you explain it?
Like, we're dumb.
We don't know anything about golf.
But can you dumb it down to our level?
Oh, yeah, I can dumb it down pretty easy.
Okay.
Yeah, I don't know exactly what I'm doing with my feet.
But I've had the same coach since I was seven years old.
and like Randy's fixed a lot of stuff for me,
but that was something that if you ever tried to fix it,
it just didn't feel natural.
And so like you could go into the science behind it,
but for me,
I just feel athletic when I'm hitting a golf ball.
And if I lock my feet in,
I feel too robotic.
Okay.
Swing your swing.
Swing your swing.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I like the swing your swing thing that people say
because it's like,
I have a bad swing,
but I'm going to swing it.
Yeah.
Swing your swing.
I mean, swing your swing.
Like golf is such a complicated game.
Yeah.
I think sometimes for people,
like the simpler you can make it,
the easier.
it typically gets.
Yeah.
And so like you look at,
there's a lot of guys
that are playing
some really good golf right now
that have different looking swings.
Like,
oh, I'd got her up on a few days ago.
Like,
he's about as unique of a movie
as you'll see on tour.
Yeah.
And he's really,
really good at golf.
Yeah.
Do you do the same thing every time
with your feet?
I mean,
I'm not even thinking about it at all.
Like, if I never saw a video of it,
I would never know that I do that.
Really?
Whoa.
That's great.
What would happen if you tried to...
It's just my swing.
I don't know any different.
Yeah.
What would happen if you tried
to hit a shot and you thought the entire time
don't move your feet?
I'd probably chunk it pretty bad and that would be.
Do you think we could beat you?
Scotty not allowed to move his feet
and then all of us would scramble.
Max hates it when we ask him
that question.
Hank, you got any questions for Scotty?
He's got to run in a minute.
Oh, by the way, Stu Feiner says hello.
Did it ever get to you
that he wanted you to come to his house
when you guys played at Bethpage?
I mean, I would have loved to be able to go to his house.
Yeah, I think you were pretty busy.
He texted me.
He was like, he called me.
He's like, can you get Scotty to come to my house?
It's like, look, I have of, I know one of Scotty's guys,
I will send the text, but I do not think that he has the time on a major week to come by.
I think that's something that like a lot of people don't understand about golf is it's not like a typical practice schedule.
Like the days are long.
Right.
Our days are really long.
Our days at home are really, really, really.
long days. Like today, like, we're left for the course at 7.30 and I haven't
showered yet. Right. Like I got home and I went straight to do, see my trainer, then went
straight to media and now I'm here. And because we think of golf as like three and a half
hours, four hours play, then go home. Yeah, like you walk up, you hit your first tee shot.
That's your first shot of the day. But like, yeah. Yeah. So, but it's too if you, he wanted you to
go. So my apology, Stu. Yeah. He loves you. You know he loves you. And I hope you're still watching
advisors. I am still watching
He's still killing it. He's
he's the best. It was the absolute best. And I
he might try to find you the next couple days.
That whole answer. Let let him come find me.
That whole answer you gave is just going to encourage him.
Oh yeah. Yeah. No, he's going to hear this and he's going to be like,
okay, Scotty, we're doing dinner.
You got a question for Scotty?
I saw a clip of Siwu saying, which I do. It was hard to believe that
he learned how to hit different shot shapes playing with you.
But he was like already a pro golfer.
Whoa. Is that true?
Sioux and I started playing a lot of golf together.
So Siwu made this maybe two or three years ago.
He asked me one day, he just taught me in the locker room.
He's like, hey, you remember at Royal Oak?
And I was like, yeah, like, what's up?
He's like, you can help me join there?
And I was like, yeah, like if you want to.
Like it's called Royal Oaks, not Royal Oak, but yeah, I can help you join there.
And so I helped him get into the club.
It's a club I grew up at.
It's where my coach Randy's been for like 50 years now.
And we play a lot of golf together.
And he asked a lot of questions.
I don't know if y'all have ever interacted with him,
but he's awesome.
Yeah.
He's everybody's favorite guy.
Yeah.
How many clubs do you remember at?
Just three.
But you can go anywhere.
Has anyone ever said no?
I've never really tried.
That would be crazy.
I said no.
Like, imagine that.
I kind of want someone to say,
I want like a muni course to say no.
She'd be like, sorry, Scotty, you can't come.
Band.
We back to blue here.
You got another question?
Follow up.
But yeah, Sue,
maybe, I don't know.
He asked a lot of questions
when we play golf.
It was just shocking
because he was obviously
like he's a professional golfer
at that point.
He was like,
yeah, you know,
I was playing with him
and he was telling me
like how he hits,
like he just tries to like
fade it towards the pin
or draw it towards the pin
and then I started doing that too.
That's sick.
It kind of sounds like Sue would.
Yeah.
Any hazing for like Jackson,
like the young guy,
the young guy on the team or like
and Godora.
Ant Godora.
Yeah.
Or like anything that you had to do that you're making them do?
Not really.
Like our thing is always like stuff that's in the team room.
We try to keep in the team room.
Like unless you're Kisner.
Kisner talks a lot about stuff of doing that.
It talks a lot about a lot.
Oh yeah.
Yeah.
No, no.
He's covering it, I think.
He might be.
Yeah.
I was about saying.
I haven't seen him yet this one.
But no, I mean, we just try to get the guys integrated to the team.
Like Jackson's like, I mean, maybe played five events as a professional.
before this one. And so, I mean, he's super
green, but he's very
mature and he's really, really good at golf.
Ask him if he knows there's, you're not going to
ask him this, but I'm going to make you, I'm going to say
ask him and you're not going to do it, but that's fine.
Ask him if he knows there's a tracker
fight over him. There's two trackers.
Oh, Jackson, Coivin, Trackers?
Yeah. Oh, that's the other guy.
Who's the other guy who the tracker fight was?
Oh, is him? Yeah, yeah. There was two
guys both claiming they were the tracker, and then they
fought back and forth. Do you have a...
No, I track him. No, I track him.
it was good stuff.
Are you aware of...
That was a really bad story.
I'm bailing on.
I'm just curious if you are aware of like the tracking community.
Not really.
I try to do my best to kind of stay out of it.
Like, we talk about my process.
Like me staying off the internet is definitely a good thing.
Very smart.
I agree.
You got your advisors.
That's all you need.
Like you're getting a taste.
This conversation is that's all day, every day on the internet.
Yeah.
You don't want that.
I am embarrassed and I brought that up in front of you.
All right, Zach, get out here.
Get out here, Zach.
for the last question, and then Sky's got to go.
Good question, Hank.
President's Cup, tune in all week. It starts Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, USA. Get ready.
Hank's a big, always just root for our country. Hank is a big international guy. He's
going to be rooting against you. Yeah, he's got root against you. Live guy. Yeah, yeah. He's a big live guy.
All right. Roeback.com, BACK.com, promo code take. 20% off your first purchase, Q Zips,
pull those hoodies, joggers, shorts, rooback.com, promo code take. Zach, you got this.
How we doing, Scottie? I just have, that's awesome. I love that.
day man even better now uh i did have a quick question that's cool if you're looking to have like the best
day on the golf course not necessarily like the lowest scoring round but just the best day overall
if you're a part of this four-man team what are the three guys are you kind of who are you drafted
who you bring it into the cart for the best day possible on the golf course i mean i have two two good
options like i think of like i have a few really close friends at home and those guys i would
definitely bring out and then i have kind of like my fun golf group that i've played with for a long time but
those guys are a lot older.
So either one of those two.
Just like one of my favorite things too is like social golf.
Like even when I take a break, I still like social golf.
So like going out, compete, gamble a little bit and have fun.
Now when you're so you're going out with those guys back home.
Are we going full strength 100% pop or is it like, do you dial the game back at all?
I mean, I've always kind of just had one speed.
So like I maybe would go into it just being like, oh, I'm just going to go have fun.
And then I'll like lose the first home and be like, crap.
Yeah.
It's kind of like when you go play.
Like I can't play pickup basketball.
because like, yeah, yeah.
Got you.
Just only have one speed.
Like, it's,
right.
Things are going to get out of it.
Just got to go.
I'm probably going to hurt myself.
Yeah.
For sure.
So I would definitely try to approach it that way,
but that would quickly get thrown out.
All right.
You got a follow up.
Last question.
I'll follow up.
That's cool.
Do you, are there any lessons you learn
through your, like,
journey with golf that kind of you apply
to your own, like,
day-to-day life outside of the course that, like,
that you could kind of maybe share with us.
That's cool.
A deep question.
Yeah.
I think it's always,
always just about remembering your why. Like I think sometimes when things don't go the way that I think
they should go on the golf course, like I can get frustrated because I work really, really hard to try and
perform. But things don't always go that way. And I feel like golf, you're not only competing against
the golf course or the people in the tournament, but also yourself. And like remembering my why is
always important. Like, why do I wake up every day and try to become the best golfer that I can be?
Like, why do I wake up and, you know, try to be a good husband, try to be a good father? Like,
why do you do all those things?
And I think that for me, just in life,
always remembering the why I do things,
remembering the purpose behind things
is always the most important.
Scottie's just the best dude.
He's my role model,
even though I'm 11 years old.
Wait, how old are you?
30.
Yeah.
I feel so well.
I look up to Scottie Sheffler.
You're so much more mature than all of us.
It's crazy.
Have you always been super mature?
It's crazy.
No, no, I don't think I'm very mature.
No, it might be us.
No, you just like profound and you think about things like that and we have like stupid caveman dumb brain.
We're thinking about trackers.
But like I think that's something you can always like everybody can relate to.
And I think especially y'all can relate to.
Like I remember going on that long thing at the open one year.
We're talking about like all this different stuff and like what is truly satisfying.
I feel like that's something you can relate to.
If you don't know your why, like you guys have accomplished so much in your field that you'd want to accomplish.
But you wake up the next day and you're still the same guy.
Like you still like the sun rises in the morning.
You have brush your teeth.
You got to take a shower.
Just because you accomplish something, it doesn't change.
It doesn't really change anything for you.
And so remembering your why and your purpose.
And I think it's just most important.
You were 100% right.
Like when you said that all that stuff at the open,
I know that some people were like,
hey, what's going on here?
Like they maybe disagreed with some things.
It's like that's a guy that understands himself
and understands what motivates him.
Was that all off the top?
Or did you, had you been thinking about that for a while?
I'm definitely not.
Like I've, I try to keep my distraction.
action is to a minimum. So I definitely don't like going on these like really deep things.
But I try to answer your questions honestly. And so when somebody asks a really good question,
I try to give them a good answer or the best answer that I can.
It's a great answer on the top of the head. Yeah. Like it's, yeah. I'd say, just try to be honest.
And then, yeah. That's why you and Caleb Williams is the best. You'll give a really good answer.
You might cry a little. Like that's the best part about sports, dude. It's best. All right.
I cry a little. We took you too much of your time. Thank you so much, man. This was so much fun. We love having you on the
show and let's win USA.
Yeah.
Go USA.
Thanks for having me on.
Appreciate you guys.
Scotty Sheffler was brought to you by our great friends over at Shell.
I'm going to be honest.
I usually don't get excited about loyalty programs.
They promise you big rewards and then it's like you actually have to eat 48 pizzas
to get one for free.
So when I heard about the Shell Fuel rewards program, I was skeptical.
But here's the thing.
It actually kind of is annoyingly practical.
You're already getting gas.
You're already getting takeout.
You're already buying snacks that you've done.
definitely didn't need, but absolutely deserve.
With Shell fuel rewards, you just get rewarded for all that.
And it's not a fake points you'll never use way.
It's actual savings on gas.
And the savings stack up.
It's not like one sad little discount.
You fill up, you eat, you shop, it all piles into real savings at the pump.
Joining takes less than three minutes in the Shell app.
You'll save on every fill after that.
Literally every single one you will save at.
And savings on gas might be something that interests a lot of you right now.
And it's so easy to do.
If you want my recommendation, join the Shell Fuel Rewards Program and save today.
The Shell Fuel Rewards and saved today.
And Joe Davis is coming up and he's brought to you by Venmo.
Football season has a way of turning every normal weekend into a group project.
Suddenly you're buying enough food for 12 people.
Somebody needs a ride.
Somebody forgot the drinks.
Somehow everyone has an opinion on what the group should bring.
And eventually somebody says the three most important words in the English language.
I'll VINMO you.
And then bam, the money shows up right there in your VINMO balance.
It's available to use instantly, which is super nice,
because with a VINMO debit master card,
you can use that balance wherever you need it.
One guy gets the food, one guy gets the drinks,
one guy brings a speaker that sounds like it was made in 2007.
And one guy contributes absolutely nothing except opinions about the quarterback.
So while everyone else is arguing over this week's underdog,
you've got the money you need to get the tailgate moving.

And now here is Joe Davis.
Okay, we now welcome on a very, very special guest.
It is first time, I guess colleague, kind of.
Joe Davis, you can hear the voice.
Joe Davis you can hear him on Sundays
calling NFL games
you're also going to hear him calling the fall
classic in the World Series of baseball playoffs
coming up Joe good to see you
in studio
it's great your voice is awesome
thanks man when did you first know that your voice
was awesome like did you I always
assume announcers like you yeah
in my head I'm like
Joe Davis was like just an 11 year old walking around
with your exact same voice
and being like what is this kid's like
he sounds incredible he's only 11
What the hell?
Yeah, yeah.
I used to, you know, every kid out in the backyard playing their football games and everything,
but I would announce them to.
And I think my parents probably thought I was crazy looking out there seeing their kid tackle
himself and hit himself on the helmet and call the games and everything at the same,
these fake games.
Honestly, though, I worried.
So I knew I wanted to do this.
But as a teenager, I was like, I don't know if I sound good enough.
I don't know if I'm at, and obviously at that point, you're not going to sound
like an announce or whatever.
I still, I think that it, like I have this insecurity about do I sound big enough?
Do I sound like, you know, Al Michaels and Vern Lungquist and Brent Musburger?
And so there's some insecurity there still, I think.
Yeah.
I'm going to take that.
I'm going to take that comment.
You're there.
I think it's also, you've had the, the like privilege of calling some classic moments.
I mean, last year's World Series.
Yeah.
If that, if you want to do like, hey, how is Joe Davis like announcing?
it to the world like he's here. It's like that was such a classic world series, just big
moment after big moment. You crushed it. That's now seared in our brains. Yeah. And isn't it
crazy how it's like you just kind of have to be right place, right time with that? I just happen
to be the lucky son of a gun sitting in that chair when these crazy games are happening. And then
you hope that you get the call right. But yeah, I mean, it's kind of the same thing with me doing
Dodger games. I happen to show up in 2016 and they have this strong.
that they've had over the last decade. It's really just right place, right time with a lot of that.
Yeah. When you were growing up, did you have an answer that you looked up, looked up to and that
you, like, do you emulate some of those guys as you were like trying to get into the business
and figure out what your voice was? Yeah, it's not just because his name's on the, on your book there
wrote the forward, but Joe Buck was the guy for me where knowing that I wanted to do the job,
I think at first, honestly, when you're as young as you start having those thoughts, I want to be this
or that when I grow up, I knew I wanted to do this job.
And Joe was the guy calling all the biggest games.
And so I think just by osmosis at first, it was, I was learning how to announce by listening
to him.
And then as I started to really pay attention to it, it's like, yeah, this is how it should
sound.
This is the guy that I want to sound like, so Joe for sure.
And do you credit Joe?
Because Joe, like, if Joe doesn't go Hollywood and go to ESPN for like $300 billion,
uh, and be like, I don't like baseball anymore, you might not be able to
it in that chair. No doubt. Like he kind of shout out Joe, right? Yeah, Joe. Thanks, man. So he
went from being this guy that I dreamt to be in like, to I go to Fox and I get to meet him. And he
became and still is a mentor and a friend to me. And he for years was saying to me when I was the
number two baseball guy there like, ah, this will be your chair soon. I'm like, yeah, okay,
like you're going to leave the World Series. You keep telling me that I'll believe it when I see
And then I remember when I got that call, my agent called me, whatever this would have been,
winter of 22 and said, he's like, hey, you saw the news about Akeman going to ESPN.
I was like, yeah, crazy, right?
And he's like, dude, you're not thinking like what the next step to that might be?
And I was like, no, I'm not.
What is this?
And he said, there's a chance that Buck's going to go with him.
And it was like, oh, shit.
Like, okay.
So this, so for a month and a half, because it took forever before it became official,
I was on my phone, like, refreshing social media every five minutes,
waiting for an update and just sitting there with bated breath thinking,
there's no way he's actually going to do this, right?
But then he did.
So, yeah, I want to thank God.
I want to think Joe Buck.
Yeah, yeah.
He is the best.
When you were growing up and you're thinking, hey, it might be a sportscaster one day,
the name Joe Davis.
It's a good name.
It's a good name.
It's a solid name.
Did you think about, like, does that have enough splash?
Is that going to stand out enough to make me, to, you know, get my resume to the top of any
piles?
It is so boring, isn't it?
It sounds like fake.
It's just a regular.
It's like a solid.
It's a good name.
Yeah.
It's a good name.
I'd want Joe Davis to like build my house.
Right.
But you want him to be like calling a game seven of the world series.
It probably took like five games for me to be like, oh, that's Joe Davis.
Like because the name won't jump up like a Joe Buck like Buck is that's strong.
Sticks.
Buck feels like it's got a period at the end.
You almost for sure.
Mine's like dot, that, dot, that.
You're like you might be AI.
I mean, how would you know?
How would you know?
Say something bad about AI.
Not going to do it.
Not going to do it.
Not taking the bait, boys.
J.D. Davis would have been a cool name, too.
That's cool.
That's actually like you do like the, what, the S-Corp thing.
Yeah.
I think J.D. Davis is my thing because D is my middle name.
Okay.
So you're on to something.
J.D. Davis.
It's not too late to change.
No, no.
Definitely not.
Welcome to the World Series game, one of the World Series with John Smoltz.
I'm J.D. Davis.
Yeah.
I just say it and like, don't even.
That was really good.
Thanks.
That's,
you know what that is?
That was really good.
That's a Super Bowl voice.
Thanks, dude.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I can hear that.
Super Bowl name.
That's a competitive voice.
That's really good.
It's good.
I'm going to let that sit.
Okay.
See what the people think.
Do you have to,
do you have like a voice care routine?
Uh,
more just like an obsession when you feel the cold coming on.
It can't happen, right?
So I like,
I got this regimen of stuff.
I don't even know what it is.
but I'll get a hold of my doctor like I'm getting sick.
And he's like, okay, go to the pharmacy and I take whatever they got.
Some giant pills.
I don't know what it is, but it knocks it out.
You can't get sick, right?
Yeah, Big Cat has one time every year.
It's usually around, I'd say, like, late November, early December.
After we've been, you know, in the thick of football season, there'll be one week where Big Cat's going to lose my voice.
It goes away.
It's like every year like clockwork.
It's crazy.
What do you do when you feel coming on to fighting off the rest of the year?
I have to, like, shut it down for like two days because I have, I have in.
years past just tried to power through and then it just gets so bad and then everyone's like dude
this is the worst podcast to listen to why are you doing this so yeah it's really only like it sucks
because you obviously will think about it a lot more because it's you know your voice is your job
but we're so stupid and we've kind of lucked into this whole thing that I have to remind myself like
oh yeah your voice is also your job like you kind of need that you kind of need that yeah but i mean
take a week off you can take a vacation yeah not in the middle of football though
No, no, definitely not.
All right, so right now you're ready, you're calling the NFL on Sundays and you have baseball playoffs coming up.
Is this your, like, do you feel it in the air like this is about to turn, like baseball season?
I know you call the Dodgers games.
Yeah.
But can you feel it and you're like, this is about to get real fun, which I'm sure also means very busy?
September is a crazy month where it's the overlap.
Like you said, you got the NFL on Sundays, still Dodger games.
So like I'll have Dodgers Padres this week.
and then NFL again this weekend, some Thursday Fox baseball game.
So September's crazy where it's all three of them together.
October at least is it doesn't usually line up where Sundays are off on baseball.
So I'm all baseball through October.
Yeah, this is what gets busy and crazy and the prep is a lot.
But I very quickly can remind myself like, oh my God, this is exactly what I dreamt to do.
And how lucky am I?
So it takes like five seconds to go from all this.
a lot to this is the coolest thing ever. Yeah. Did you get a, do you get a World Series ring?
Are you, are you employed by the Dodgers? Uh-huh. All right, so I'll cross off that Mark
Walter question. Do you have two rings? That's just still clear? Yeah, three. Got the one from
2022. Oh, okay. Well, wait, the 20, wait, 22 or 20, 24, 25? Yeah. Just so you know that
2020. 20. 20. Does not count. Yeah. I think at this point they'd kind of be like, yeah.
No, that's not. We don't need to claim it, they'd say, because it's, you know, just so.
It's like, well, let me ask you a question.
If someone who's like, hey, let me see your Dodger rings, would you lead with the COVID?
No.
Okay.
I rest my case.
You have two legitimate rings.
They're sweet, too.
But I've never worn them.
They sit in the boxes and people like to see them when they come over to the house or whatever.
I just, can you imagine me going to pick up the kids at school or whatever with those big ass rings on my hand?
And somebody being like, hey, like, dang, you want a championship?
Yeah.
And I'm like, what, talked about people winning the championship, but check me out.
Right.
And one of these doesn't really count because it's in a bubble.
Yeah, the 20s. Yeah.
Right.
Yeah.
So you were on the call in 2022 then?
Wait, say that again?
You were on the call in 2020.
2020, yes.
So the Astros Phillies.
Astros Phillies.
You remember the no hitter?
Yeah.
That was no hitter, right?
I mean, I don't, I hate to combine no hitters.
Right, but how many hits did the Phillies get?
They got zero.
Oh.
Yeah.
So that's no.
That's a no hitter, right? It's a no hitter. I feel like I'm not meaning to, but I'm answering
somebody's argument here. Yes, you are. A hundred percent. You're very stupid. I'm here. I'm here. It's
not a real no hitter. I agree. In that call, did you say in the Phillies get no hit?
If you listen to the call, I'm like, oh. Yeah, see, that's exactly that into it. Wait, wait, wait, wait,
wait. Now I'm going to ask about Walter question, all right? Let's go. You're not going to agree with us.
You said on the call, it's a no hitter. I did. Yeah.
So did you lie?
I guess I lied to the world.
Well, no, but they got no hits, right?
It is a no hitter.
It's just like a stupid one.
Okay.
Great.
I agree.
Yeah.
Awesome.
No hitter.
No hitter.
Technically, yes.
Dodgers had one in Mexico a few years ago.
Combined no hitter.
First of all, we're like, they played in Monterey, Mexico, and we're going to
the stadium and there's guys with like machine guns and stuff as we're pulling in.
We go into the booth.
The booth is, it was like carpeted steps, and we sit on one carpeted step and our equipment's on the next.
Just a disaster of a setup.
What happened?
Combine no hitter.
Yeah.
And I was like, it was raining.
This is so dumb.
So I don't know what my answer is.
No hitter, though.
So dumb no hitter.
Dumb no hitter.
Okay.
That's fine.
Dumb no hitter.
I think that's the technical term.
I'm okay with that.
Yeah.
All right.
What was the most iconic October moment, the dumb no hitter or?
giving everybody in the booths,
salmonella when you were carving that turkey.
Oh, hey.
So, I felt pretty good about that turkey.
You did a good job carving.
Thanks, man.
But you didn't cook it, right?
No, I didn't cook it.
Yeah.
Looked a little under.
Well, you know, I think the pink, the pink, I'm hoping,
was just like a smoke ring kind of thing.
And not salmonella.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We all did survive.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Do you ever get, you ever tell Greg Olson to like chill out, dude?
You look like too hot sometimes?
Hot, like sexy hot?
Yeah, he's a good looking guy.
He's a good friend of ours.
Yeah.
I don't know if he gave you a scouting report for this show at all.
He did, yeah.
Okay.
What do you say?
He was like, those guys are also hot.
He led with sexy.
This is the word he used.
I was like, I've seen him.
Yeah, but that Cody wore, what was that last year?
Was it as bad in person as it looked on TV?
It was like too much.
It was like, the pattern.
It just.
jumped off the page. You looked like a car salesman. He tried to shame us after because he said his wife
picked it out. I was going to say I was going to defend him. We powered through that. We're like,
all right, so your wife has bad taste. That's fine. Oh, right? What are you trying to do,
Greg? He does say, though, he's like, last week, I remember making the comment. We were at dinner
the night before the game and he's like, I haven't put a suit on in six months or whatever. And
so what's it going to look like is, I don't know. I don't know what suit I have in my bag.
It was this one. Yeah, that's not great. It was so bad. That's not great. So when he shows up,
Or do you guys have a relationship?
Like he walks in to the booth on game day.
Can you say like, oh, dude, what are you doing?
Or is it more like, hey, Greg, you know.
Turn your suit down.
Yeah, yeah.
Not your best one.
No.
I'm like, and he's so like, it's a combination like you guys said, good looking handsome
man and the most disheveled person you've ever met.
Yeah.
Hair is everywhere.
He's like, he's like a little more put together Chris Farley's energy.
But then he just does like,
one swipe and it's like,
and it's perfect.
That's a Greek God.
Yeah.
First game I ever work with him.
We were in Atlanta.
And it was, you know, you go on the air one o'clock or whatever.
It's 12.58, 30, 1259.
He's nowhere to be found.
I'm standing there wired up, ready to go on the air, like checking my hair.
Like, I think it's pretty good.
I hope I have a partner.
And our producer, Pete Macheska, legend, you guys should have on sometime.
He's here.
Where is he?
We got 90 seconds.
Where is he?
I'm like, I don't know.
30 seconds, where's your partner?
And I'm looking and I don't see him.
And Greg comes storming into the room, disheveled, throws his hair like that, sits down, gives me a pound, and three till one.
Bam, but there he was looking so good.
He's pro.
Pro's pro.
I think maybe his wife gave him that jacket to, like, take him down a couple notches.
Right.
He's like, I can't have you looking so hot on TV.
Yeah, get him off the Senate.
Could be it.
Let me do this coat straight out of shark tails.
Nobody's going to like you if you wear this.
You'll create that one.
Can you help us understand the art to calling a game in terms of when not to say anything?
Because sometimes that's the best when announcers just like know when to let the moment kind of be itself and let it breathe.
Yeah, I think it's a feel thing.
I think it's easier to do when the team that does the big thing is at home and the crowd's going crazy.
And it's like the TV term forward is laying out.
that's the inside baseball way of putting it but i don't know i don't have to i think it kind of
becomes innate as you do more games you just sense that that crowd is almost like a third voice
because when that crowd gets rocking i think that we all have that feeling like this is what we love
about sports right so to to say anything in that moment it's not like you have to have any kind of
restraint it just for me it feels like what you're supposed to do like what am i going to say that's
better than 50 000 people losing their minds right yeah yeah yeah
Yeah, it's a good point.
Yeah.
I'm trying to think in terms of your iconic.
You have a couple iconic, the Freddie Freeman one, right?
Did you know, was it Gibby meet Freddy?
Do you know right away like I nailed it?
I felt pretty good about that.
Yeah, you have like a fist pump call.
What's your, do you have any others that are like, I fucking nailed that.
Yeah, you definitely, when you get one, you feel like right, the Bryce
Harper home run in the NLCS in 2020.
What was that call?
Swing of his life, I said.
That's fucking good.
That's awesome.
So I just like I think that it's when you're doing the championship events,
I think it's one thing to get the call right.
But then I think there's this responsibility too to say something that,
and this is where Buck is the greatest ever to do it.
He doesn't just call it and tell you what happened well.
he gives it context that almost like elevates it a little bit or at least like helps it stand the test of time and you kind of begin to associate the moment with the call.
So I think any time that you can wrap in the context of what this moment means beyond just, oh, go ahead, a home run for Bryce Harper or walk off Grand Slam for Freddie Freeman.
Well, no, that's what it is, but what does it mean?
So those, yeah, fist pump moments for a play-by-play guy come, I think, when you can give it that added layer of context.
Yeah. Did you ever consider having a catchphrase?
No.
Because I do think that that probably keeps you from that happening some because you're putting your thing.
And I'm not against having a catchphrase, but just for me, I think if you have that thing that you're going to slap on a moment, no matter what the moment is, it keeps you from really giving it the context that it's asking for.
You stay fluid.
Yeah. I think it has to be natural, too. Some guys are catchphrase guys.
And it works.
Yeah.
Like Mike Brin, when he says bang.
So good.
It works.
So good.
That's a natural extension of his personality, I think, into the game.
Yeah.
But if you push it, can I maybe make, maybe make one or two suggestions for you?
I already got the JD Davis thing.
So what else?
What would J.D. Davis say?
That's a JD guarantee.
I think he might say.
It's so good, big cat.
I think he might say, it's Jover.
Oh, yeah.
Like Grand Slam walk off home run.
It's Jover.
Oh, right.
Yeah, for your name.
That way it's like, that's a Joe call.
Right, because it's got the J in it.
Yeah, exactly.
Right.
Now you're thinking.
What about if a quarterback misses a wide open receiver, like wide open, nobody within five yards of him running down field.
That's a, if he catches that, he's still running.
Like, but you put the emphasis on.
He's still running.
It's still running.
It's got legs.
Like, it really does.
And it's not only got legs, but the legs are running.
Yeah, still.
He's still running.
Right.
He's still running.
Dover throw?
Can I just start throwing J's and stuff?
Absolutely.
Yeah.
I think around.
Think about he's still running, though.
He's still running as good.
We've tested that.
We've done some focus group.
Okay.
It works.
It has hit critical mass.
Like five out of six of the people on this podcast love it.
Yeah.
For sure.
Yeah, I'm not even going to workshop it then.
I'm just going to go with it.
Thanks guys.
Can we talk a little baseball because you watch, obviously, you're calling the Dodgers.
You've seen all these teams.
Who's in the World Series?
Are you allowed to say?
It should be.
They give you a strips, right?
best team. Yeah. They tell you what's going to happen.
It's just crazy. Like you guys know, baseball, especially if you get in that three-game
wild card series. Yeah. Good God. It looks like they're going to avoid that. But even a five-game
short series, it takes one or two bad days and your season's over. I mean, how many times during
a regular season do you see the worst team beat the best team two out of three? It happens. It happens
every few days. Yeah. So, I mean, I think yes, do you take the Dodgers or you take the field? It's a coin flip.
the injuries they're dealing with.
Yeah, what's their weakness right now?
Like, the problem with the Dodgers,
and I hate the Dodgers and what they've been able to do is that they're going to get in the playoffs
and they're just going to convert all of their half-injured starting pitchers who probably
have won Sy Young's in their career to explosive bullpen arms.
And you're like, this is bullshit.
Yeah.
Like when Tyler Glass now is coming out to pitch in the seventh inning, you're like, this isn't fair.
But that's what's going to happen, right?
Are they going to move some of those guys?
Yeah.
So you ask what the week.
weaknesses of this point. They are pretty hurt.
Okay. They are pretty hurt at this point.
Oh, what a shame. But, yeah, to your point, it's like they got the depth where
if you're looking at a phase of the team that has issues, it's right-handed relief.
Okay. But that may get covered up by the way they, like you use Tyler Glass Now as an example.
Now, I think that at this point, Glass Now is going to be a starter. But as you, Game 7 of the
World Series last year, they all pitched. Every starter pitched. So I think they look at it as not
rotation, a four-man rotation in the postseason. They look at it as a 13-man pitching staff,
and they're going to cover these however many games they've got to play however they need to.
So yeah, it does become, at times it feels like unfair with how many good arms they have.
Do you have to kind of limit yourself, like how excited you sound if the Dodgers are playing well?
Here's the, it's not like get less excited for the Dodgers or get more excited for the other team.
Because I really do, I think, if you listen to Dodger games in the regular season,
and I just really love baseball.
Yeah.
I like to get excited for good plays no matter who's making them.
It's more how I'm framing the information.
When I'm doing it for Dodger, people that are listening to it every day,
it's a totally different presentation of the information than it is to a national audience.
So like repositioning all the information in my head, kind of unlearning it and relearning it to present it to a national audience,
that's the bigger challenge than get less excited for the Dodgers and get excited for the other team.
That makes sense.
Yeah.
Now, we like this guy, so feel free to talk openly with us.
But, like, at any point during the season, you're like, all right, Smolte, we get it.
Like, teams that use too many pitchers, it's annoying how the game has changed.
Yeah, I give them a hard time on it.
Yeah.
It's like, I think a few years ago, it was, everybody was kind of split, right?
You had the old school people, and then you had the new school analytics people.
Well, I think it shifted to the point where that kind of is baseball.
So there are times where I'm like, I'll kind of needle him, like, John.
I get it.
But I also like it.
I like having the old school still have a voice in this because otherwise
sports become almost like devoid of human like the human interaction.
It becomes a spreadsheet and who has the numbers and you put it in a graph and it's like,
okay, now that's the winner.
Like I want to hear the human side of it.
Totally.
And I think that we all sort of yearn for that John Smoltz who's going to, when he goes seven
innings, they're like, why the hell did he only go seven innings?
These days we're like, he's through six.
heroic effort, you know? So I think we all do yearn for the stuff that John talks about missing
and that John came up doing as well as anybody, so I get it. Do you remember the first time you
had to, like, sit in a meeting and somebody explained the concept of having an opener to John?
It's so funny you ask that he talks about, I think it was the Brewers and the CS and 18
and Craig Counsel maneuvering the way they were against the Dodgers and how frustrated he
was and seeing like Wade Miley out there to start a game. What are we doing? So yeah, no.
Have you ever asked him like, hey, man, the ironing the shirt thing, that was real, right?
I haven't gone there, no. You got to. Yeah, yeah. He denies it. The story obviously goes that he got
injured because he burned himself because he was wearing a shirt and ironing it while he was
wearing it, which I'll hand up. I've done that. Like I don't, you don't press to your body,
but you'll touch it up a little here and there. I do the shoulder something.
Yeah, right.
Yeah.
So it's not somebody, tell them that.
Come up from that angle.
Be like, John, we all do this.
Like, it's not a big deal, dude.
But just like, come on, be honest.
You burned yourself.
That's the way to get guys to be honest, right?
To kind of lead them into it by being like, we've all done it.
We all do this.
We all iron ourselves.
Yeah.
John, you have to save space.
Do it one day and like lightly, like maybe just burn your shoulders a little bit.
Yeah.
And then he's like, oh, what's that?
Be like, oh, I was ironing.
I'm having trouble in my iron.
Yeah.
And then just wait, give that pause.
see what he says.
Yeah, right.
Just hang it there.
Yeah, you got to do that.
Do you guys have a plan beforehand what you're going to talk about in a blowup?
Because, or just a boring game.
I mean, you just called the Bears Vikings game.
So bad.
That was a tough one.
Real tough one.
That one's different, though, because it was always close.
So you can't do the goof around stuff.
But do you have like a plan?
Like, hey, when you sit down before a game, hey, if this gets out of hand, here's what we're
going to go to?
I think that's just like,
the far reaches of your prep from the week.
Okay.
You more have a plan, at least the way our crew does it,
we have a plan coming in really clear what we want to establish.
And then you hope the game plays along.
And here's the thing, you establish these storylines.
And then if the game follows those storylines, that's your story in the second half.
If the game doesn't follow those story lines, that's your story in the second half, right?
That the teams are going against what you've laid out.
When the blowout happens, that's when, you know, the prep about the guy's grandma and, you know, his, is what he did as a kid.
That's where that stuff sort of comes.
That's less a plan and more just kind of the fruits of the prep that you've done throughout the week.
Yesterday, though, like that game, I found myself, like, pissed off at the rain.
Yeah.
You know, we're so excited for this game.
I know.
I think everybody is to see what this is going to look like.
And then you see the rain and the forecast.
And it's like, yeah, this is going to.
going to diminish it a little bit.
But 9 to 3, what the heck?
It's a bad game.
The Bears played a bad game.
Yeah.
It was a tough, tough watch.
Especially because you were on the call for the one week before, one, right?
Panthers Bears.
We were on, we had Steelers Falcons.
Oh, shit.
So we're on quite a roll.
So you might be the cooler.
It might be us.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, the Joe Davis under?
Oh, no.
Yeah.
The gander.
The jundr might be a thing.
I don't want it to be.
It'd be so much better if you were an over guy.
Yeah.
because it goes right with the nickname and the catchphrase that we talk about.
We got to track this.
Yeah.
If you're the gender, just cooling games down left and right.
I don't want that.
That's a problem, Joe.
Did you get, did you have to like work yourself into being excited about Cooper Rush?
How about this?
Cooper Rush's quarterback coach when he was in high school?
Me.
Oh.
Let's go.
Wait, what?
Let's go.
You coached him?
Yeah.
Great job.
He's a great quarterback.
Hey, thank you.
Oh, shit.
Okay.
All right.
Yeah, he, what I'm like, probably four or five years older, small towns, mid-Michigan.
I was the good small-town quarterback that kind of preceded him.
So I was playing Division III football.
He was coming up in high school at that point, starting to get recruited.
And when I would come home in the summers, worked them a little bit.
So I say quarterback, coach, we would go work out together a little bit.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Wait, have you told people this?
Our crew knows.
I think we've done a little something when we've done Cooper Rush games.
Yeah, yeah.
Show pictures of us.
Okay.
Actually, the Lansing State Journal a couple weeks ago, my dad sent me this,
just had somebody had a big passing game.
And so they put out the 10 greatest passing performances in Lansing area history.
Cooper's won, some kid from Stockbridge and nobody's ever heard of as number two,
but then I've got the number three performance right there.
Up against him.
Sorry about it.
Okay.
That's actually, that's a very fun fact.
Very fun fact.
That's amazing.
You brought up Cooper Rush.
Yeah.
Well, I mean, we talk about him alive.
Yeah.
He's the kind of the guy
One of the biggest stories in the league right now.
Did you do any prep on Jack Strand?
No.
Oh, wow.
I mean, enough to like if the guy shows up.
So do you know that he's from the jump rope capital of the world?
I did not know that.
Where were you last week?
You got to get your Jack Strand going in case because if they let Jack Strand go,
they might become like a real team.
That's what they say.
That Jack Strand cook.
That's what they've been saying.
What about Matt's staff?
and maybe some of his teammates from high school.
Can you name a single teammate of Matt Stafford's?
Do you guys, I don't know if you know this,
but do you know Matt Stafford and Clayton Kirshah are buddies?
That's not believable.
Nice one, JD.
Good one, JD.
I could fancy myself a storyteller, guys.
Let me spin this yarn for you.
I was talking about Jake felt.
Next time you get to that conversation instead of you,
you should zig while everyone zags.
And here's Clayton Kirshall.
Ask him about it.
Who's that next to him?
Asked about Jake felt.
Jake felt.
Jake felt was really, he was the star that, the straw that stirred the drink on those teams.
We talked to Matt about it.
And he was like, nobody will remember as Jake felt scored five touchdowns state championship.
Yeah, no, Matthew Stafford was like, actually Jake felt was the best athlete.
What is he doing now?
And then we asked Clayton Kershaw and he was like, yeah, I remember Jake felt.
So do we know what he's doing now?
I think he just works in Texas somewhere.
Okay.
So yeah.
Okay.
I was like, is that a dumb question?
No, no.
Back there.
Listen, I'm telling you, like, they both swore by Jake felt.
So it's rare that you have two guys like Matthew Stafford and Clayton Kershaw being like actually there was another guy.
Yeah, Stud.
Yeah.
I'm trying to get Kershaw to do TV.
Really?
I think he'd be good at it.
He actually came.
He's doing some NBC stuff.
Okay.
But he's just down in the camera well for that, kind of the third guy, the field level analyst.
He came to Atlanta a few weeks ago to do a Dodger game with me and really good.
It's so cool to see him because, you know, we see Kershaw this intense.
competitor throughout his pitching career.
But now that he's off of the field,
he was like a 12-year-old boy just watching his favorite sport.
That's awesome.
It's so cool.
Yeah.
Do you want to hear my joke about your college?
Yeah.
Okay.
What does the sound a fart makes in the bathtub?
Boyt.
Damn.
That's all I got for Blois.
That's pretty good.
Yeah.
You never heard that one?
I have not.
No, but it works.
Yeah, it does it?
Bolloy.
Yeah.
That is what a sound of a fart in a bathtub.
Beloit.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's your college.
That's where I went.
That's all I got.
I got a buddy.
So, yeah.
Do you?
Yeah.
That's just the only joke I got about Palloyt.
That's all I got about it.
That's all you need, though.
Yeah.
Do they have a good broadcast?
That's a bad segment by me.
That was, that was Boloid?
No.
What did you say?
Any good broadcasting?
No.
No, not at all.
Yeah, I respect the fuck out of you for not being a Syracuse nerd.
Thanks, man.
I thought about it.
I was like, but no, I'm not going to be a Syracuse.
Yeah.
So I, first, they bring all the freshmen in and then you go to your advisor.
My advisor was this physics professor that had a top hat and he was a world class trumpet
player.
This guy's going to teach me how to call the World Series for sure.
I sit down with him and he said, so tell me, he takes his top hat off.
Tell me, what is it you want to do when you grow up?
And they're, you know, I'm like, I want to be a play-by-play and out.
And he goes, I have no.
idea what that is. I'm like, oh, shit. I should have gone. I should have been a Syracuse nerd.
But I think because it wasn't a broadcasting school, a small school where I could, like,
anything I wanted to do, I could find somebody who was into helping me try to chase that down.
Yeah. That's cool. Because that is, you do see, it does feel like Syracuse, Northwestern,
Missouri, they just kind of churn out. For sure. Everyone. And it's cool to have someone who, you know,
sound of a fart in a bathtub. That's right. Yeah. So how did you get, how did you break into
business going to bloit well i told them you guys know where i went and they're like oh yeah i've heard that
heard that right um i i i knew what i wanted to do i think that was a big part of it so i got there
and right away was doing everything i could uh when i did graduate be where i think a lot of guys
are a few years after they graduate so ready to take that big job right out of college and um you know i
my first job was with the Montgomery Biscuits.
That's so delicious.
You guys got to get like some kind of biscuit thing in here.
Yeah, I've seen their hats.
Their hats are great.
They're sweet, right?
And the mascot is an actual biscuit with eyes, slab of butter for a tongue.
So that was a huge deal.
Got that gig.
I was like, I'm the voice of the biscuits.
What's up?
Got that right out of college.
I think that, I don't know, just kind of having that foresight,
knowing what I wanted to do to set myself up to get a gig like that.
right out of college, kind of the springboard to get going.
Yeah.
Were there other teams that made you an off, and you're like, I like what the biscuits are doing.
Yeah, the biscuits are just too delicious to pass.
That's right.
It tastes way too good.
I was going, so how about this?
You guys are like this.
I was summer before my senior year of college, Schaumburg Flyers, old Northern League team.
I worked there, and they were starting a new franchise, the Lake County Fielders.
Kevin Costner was part owner of this team.
I think I vaguely remember this.
Yeah, well, this became a whole thing.
I used that summer before I was going to graduate in December.
That was part of the deal too.
I graduated early so I could be ready to take a full season baseball job right away,
as opposed to graduate in May.
You got to wait a full year.
So I used that whole 2009 summer to try and impress the ownership group with the Flyers
because they were teaming up with Costner,
opening up the Lake County fielders.
and I had this job landed.
I was going to be the voice of the late county fielders.
I got the biscuit shop, so I didn't do that.
Well, you fast forward to the next summer,
late county fielders, the franchise starts,
but they don't actually get the stadium built.
I'm not sure Costner ever really was that involved.
And the broadcaster who they wound up hiring quit mid-game on the air,
pissed off that they weren't paying them.
Wow.
I love that.
you can still go find the clip.
I love that.
That's a great move.
Yeah, they're playing and they're playing in some kind of local muni ballpark.
He's sitting in the bleachers calling these games as the voice of the fielders and he just quit.
That's a power move.
Like, had I not gotten that biscuits job?
Who knows?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Shout out the biscuits.
Thanks, guys.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And so right when you start working for the biscuits, are you already looking for your next job?
Because I don't think anybody gets into calling, you know, minor league baseball as, you know, the destination or as, like,
end of their advancement as a play-by-play guy. So like how quickly do you start applying for other
jobs while you're working for the biscuits? Right away. I'm kind of a maniac like that where it was,
I went down there and did, you know, I was making 16 grand a year to these biscuits games. And so
you had to do other stuff. I was doing, uh, there was a studio in Auburn where the Baylor
pre and post game show was run out of. So I was,
the pre-imposed guy for the Baylor Bears that I would do during the winter.
I ran camera for the local WSFA 12 morning show.
That's when I got into coffee.
We had a 5 a.m. morning show, and I was on the camera just doing this.
Like, just to the left, a little to the right, just mind-numbing stuff for two hours
each morning, doing those gigs.
But also doing whatever I could to announce high school sports, build the TV reel,
and make as many connections as I could.
I did some games.
Grinding, yeah.
Just trying to like, but it's kind of a catch 22 as you're trying to get into TV, or at least it was then.
How do you get the TV tape without showing that you can do TV?
And how do you show you can do TV if you don't get the chance to do it?
So like whatever I could, these stupid looking one camera high school webcast that I would do and turn into reels.
And one thing led to another and just did three years in Montgomery.
That's awesome.
The voice unlocked you.
All right, well, J-D, this has been awesome.
You're JD now forever.
I love that.
Roback question, R-H-O-B-A-C-K-com, promo code take.
I'm wearing it right now.
Ro-back, great hoodies, polos, joggers, everything.
Roeback.com, promo code take.
Zach.
How we doing today, sir?
How's Zach?
What's going on, man?
I did have a quick question.
Yeah.
Is there a thing about your career?
Is there a call that got away that maybe you think back?
You're like, I would like to have that one back and run it again.
Good question.
So, game seven last year.
I don't think that I missed anything or had a specific call where it was like I blew that in games.
So there's plenty of calls I've blown through the years.
But game seven was one last year where it's like I think I came into it.
It was my first game seven.
And I think I made it into something bigger than maybe not bigger than it was, but bigger than I should have where I was like, okay, game seven.
So what I waited my whole life for?
And then I kind of came in gripping the wheel a little bit too tight.
and then the game was what it was, which was just insane.
So I had this feeling of kind of chasing my tail the whole night,
didn't feel the way you want to feel.
So like game three last year, 18 innings, that was so much fun.
Because it's like World Series game rarely can you kind of let yourself just be yourself and have fun.
You had no choice but to do that in an 18 inning game.
Game 7 was different where it was like that, oh God, just trying to hang on for dear life feeling.
You know, I would like to have back.
I hope to get another game seven to try and do that a little bit differently.
We got to get you another game seven.
Let's go.
Can we make that happen?
You guys are pretty, pretty powerful.
Get you another game seven.
We'll pull some strengths for sure.
Yeah, anything else, Zach?
Do you see, go ahead, Zay?
Yeah, quick follow up.
Do you consider yourself a better pit master or a broadcaster?
Because I've seen an extensive history of barbecue online.
Thanks, man.
Oh.
I was open to go there.
Go there.
I feel pretty good about my cooking stuff.
There's just no way.
J.D., no offense.
There's just no way you're a better pitmaster than broadcaster.
You're one of the best broadcasters.
Just statistically speaking, in the game.
In the world.
You're not one of the best pit masters.
I guarantee you.
There's just no way.
What do you cook?
Come on.
And the holy grill is brisket.
Better than that one in Toronto.
Yeah.
So you're a brisket guy?
I try to be.
Okay.
Is that like Lincoln Riley brisket?
I don't know about this.
Is he just you trying?
It's not good?
It's a little grayish, yeah.
I mean, how long do you smoke it for?
However long it takes.
No way.
That's kind of the right answer.
Come on.
Yeah.
Come on, Joe.
Zach, tell him.
What kind of wood?
I mean, there's some smoke rings on these, these meats look pretty good.
You're a mesquite guy?
I feel like that overpowers it, especially poultry.
You're not doing mesquite.
Doesn't need that.
Then it just becomes mesquite taste in turkey.
Big green egg is my go-to.
Okay.
I don't have as much time to do it these days, just three young kids and, you know, the work and everything.
But I, if I screw up and say something I shouldn't say on the air and they get canned, I think I'm going to open up my own deal and just do that.
I just love that.
You can even do your own sauce now while you're on the air and then just have it like right next to you in the background.
What do we call the sauce?
I feel like you have an idea.
I actually don't have a name for the sauce yet, but we can think of one.
Yeah, we can get it.
come up with that.
Yeah.
Did you,
last last question,
do you keep a scorecard
for every baseball game?
Do you do it while you're calling the game?
Mm-hmm.
I don't know.
You kind of have to, though,
like to be able to tell the,
no, come on.
I understand,
but I would just get distra-
I don't know if I could write and talk.
Have you ever kept score for?
Yes.
Oh, keeping scores the best.
I'm not saying it's not.
I'm saying his ability to stay
to like write down exactly
what's happening while also talking.
I'm too stupid to,
write and talk at the same time.
I bet you would find, though, that it would be, like, I can't picture the other way.
Yeah.
Where it's like, I can't picture being able to tell you what's happened in the game.
Okay, yeah, I guess it's a really good way to, like, detail and follow it along.
But I just, yeah, I don't know.
Speaking on, on a mic while, while writing is just, that's a fan shit.
It's a lot.
Graduate level stuff.
Yeah.
What about drinking a beer?
Joe Buck told us he drank a beer one time.
Hey, how about this?
Brady Quinn, who, when I,
I grew up as a quarterback Notre Dame fan wanting to be the next Brady Quinn,
and then Brady became my partner at Fox.
You talk him, you think Greg's handsome.
Yeah, no, he's right.
Like, what are we doing?
Yeah.
Brady, we would, his first couple years doing games, he'd be really good once we got into the game,
but he was really tense and uptight first couple series.
So we would put a little beer.
We'd open up one beer, half a beer here, half a beer there, unmarked cup.
and not to like get drunk while we're doing the game but more just to put him in that mindset
of like we're two dudes yeah at the bar watching the game and he got so much better not because
we were feeling anything but because he just he kind of had that idea like all right that's chill
yeah yeah yeah i agree max i'm stuck on you you can't like you'll flip you'll start flipping a
coin if i put anything around you while we're doing the show you get distracted but keeping score to a
baseball game, especially if you do it every
single time you call it baseball game. It's like
there's no thought that goes. I guess just
I'm just saying like the actual writing would just
would fuck me up. But it's like a die. I know, I know.
And I'm also not like writing a novel or anything.
Yeah, no, I know. You're filling it in. Yeah.
It's really not that impressive what I do. I'm impressed. I'm impressed. Thanks,
man. I can't do two things at the same time. It does probably help you
focus on the game too. For sure. If you write it, it's like taking notes in class.
It's like you remember it more if you if you jot it down.
Yeah. And if if if, you know,
Trey Turner comes up, and I need to tell you about the day Trey Turner's had, I now have,
by having written this stuff down exactly when and what.
Do you write in, like, pinch hitters and changes in the, yeah, that's where I'd get screwed up.
That's where I'm starting to write names down of like who's pinch hitting or who's moving to,
you know, wherever they're moving in the field.
That would fuck me out.
You got to come hang out in the booth during a game sometime.
Sit right there.
I like that.
Let's go.
Yeah.
I'll teach you how to do that.
Cubs might make a run.
We'll see.
What do you think?
Uh, pitching is so bad and Breggman, the freest injury ever, yeah.
So, and he's so important.
But chip in a chair when it comes to, when it comes to the baseball playoffs, just get in the dance and see what happens, you know?
It's like, guys can get hot.
You never know.
And PCA's been electric, so.
So good.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Um, that was a lot of fun.
Anytime you're around, stop on by.
And, uh, we're excited to watch some baseball with you this, uh, October.
Well, we would both win.
The Cubs make a little run.
Yeah.
I'll be in Chicago.
Yep.
Come back.
Talk some more baseball.
Get some ice cream.
Let's go.
Yeah.
Love it.
Thanks, man.
Thank you for having me.

And here comes the fine print warning this product contains nicotine and nicotine.
is an addictive chemical.
All right, Hank, guys,
oh, we should have mentioned, by the way,
shout out the Atlanta Falcons for saving us
because Michael Panics is back.
Yep, love that.
That is so huge.
Love that, because if it wasn't going to be him,
I saw that there was one quarterback out there
that is advocating for them to get that job.
Yeah.
We've got at least one volunteer.
Do you know how that quarterback is?
Who?
I'll just read the tweet.
You guess who this is from.
When Cooper Rush and Jack Strand are stinking up in Atlanta,
it makes zero sense that quarterback's like,
Cam Newton, Jimmy Garapolo, Ryan Tannahill, and myself, aren't the veteran presence in the locker room to stabilize teams when their quarterback goes down.
Kaepernick.
Nope.
Chad Kelly.
RG3.
Oh.
RG3.
So RG3 is available for the Falcons job.
Okay.
If you're interested.
What are you laughing at memes?
Max dropped his ring under the table during the Lucy Adread, and then his entire ass was out.
But I said before I went under there, I was like, my ass was going to be out.
Don't look at it.
Oh, you give a warning.
You just tattle on.
on his ass.
Well, I just, I looked in,
memes was like smirking.
I was like, what's going on?
Yeah, and I tripped a little bit coming back.
Zach, to my defense.
The ring could have been further under this table.
Yeah.
We need better discipline in the boot to turn the mics on and let us know.
No, but it was made.
Mid ad.
I get that.
I get that.
But it drives me nuts when you guys are just laughing.
I'm like, say it.
Let's laugh together.
I have some breaking moose.
Yeah, breaking moose.
Aaron Judge is likely out for the wild card series
Oh fuck
That's the correct response
You hate the injury
Yeah, Hank
You hate that, right?
That sucks
You always want to play the best, right?
Hank is you root against injuries harder than any man
So hard
Yeah, I mean like this is
You play all these games to make to the playoffs
And then
Yeah
You go up against guy Aaron Judge
although it might be better for the Yankees.
He's terrible in the playoffs.
Good point.
Ewing theory?
Has he been to,
he's had a couple really good playoffs.
He had a walk off home.
He had like playoffs where he was the only one who hit.
I think as a whole, he hasn't been great.
But no, but do I not remember?
Last time he had that one.
About the World Series when he just lost him the World Series.
He had that good opening round game last year and then.
I might everybody.
I'm remembering a specific playoffs where he is hitting like 700 and no one else on the team was good.
236 career playoff.
Right.
Is there one?
Recently he's been better.
822 OPS is pretty fine.
421 batting average.
That was in 2018.
Okay, maybe that's what I'm thinking about.
In last year.
Oh, okay.
Maybe that's.
Yeah, last year.
Yeah, last year he was awesome.
13 for 26 last year, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yes, I know he.
has still not gotten his pinstripes.
Mm-hmm.
And he won't this year if he doesn't play.
So he just had...
Or what if the Yankees win the World Series
out of Aaron Judge?
Is Aaron Judge get his pinstripes?
No, that's the funniest possible outcome.
Yeah, but it also, like, you'd have to give him pinstripes for being like, thanks for
sitting out, knowing that we're better without you, like Hank said.
I think like horizontal pinstripes.
Yeah.
All right, three long ones.
I have a question on how I should handle myself as the first and only first and only
female working in a city's public service department.
Blue collar job, 26 men and myself.
Road work, garbage service, and parks maintenance.
I can joke and bust balls like the guys.
I don't get offended until you talk about my work.
90% of the guys are great.
10% of the guys have no use for me.
Now I want to go and just tell those douchebags off,
but I don't want to go to their level.
What are some things I could or should do
to basically tell them to fuck off and worry about their lazy, sorry asses?
I'm not sure if this is what you want.
but love y'all guys you make me laugh a lot that's a serious question i feel like that's a
almost a better question for jerry i also call her with jerry yeah that was uh i mean it's fair like
she you would like busting balls one thing but being like you're bad at your job that would that would
piss you off yeah you know um i don't know i think i feel like you have to just it's not fair but
do their job better than they can yeah and then they'll get naturally embarrassed show them up
yeah be like hey do you need to help you with this yeah ooh maybe get
maybe do one of those
you know those like weird challenges
where a woman
a woman can do it but a man can't
like lifting up a chair to their chest
because we just have different hip muscles
do one of those
make them look really really weak
I think it's like when you put your head on a
a wall and then you lift the chair
to your chest
you can't get on your hands and knees
and then take your hands away
and put your head on the ground
and keeping your hands off the ground
lift your head up. Do one of those embarrass the boys?
Yeah. Or like, what's another one of those challenges?
Ask for directions somewhere.
Oh, also you could just say
if one of them gets upset about something,
just be like, what are you on your period? That always plays.
Yeah, that'll be a good one. Yeah, fight fire with fire.
My boyfriend recently got a job coaching the J.B football team
in his old high school. I was excited for him,
but now it has consumed his life. Every moment of the day, even at work, and especially
at home, he's watching film on 13 and 14-year-olds playing football.
He can't even hold regular conversations in public without bringing up how he coaches
J.B football team.
How do I go about this?
I mean, this guy rocks.
Yeah, what's the problem?
This guy is a football guy.
Sounds like you're just not ready to be a football wife.
It sounds like she's not a football guy.
Like, hey, listen, you might have to move towns.
That's just part of the job.
But then he might like really, really.
Yeah, you mean like pack up?
Yeah, yeah.
Get the kids out of school.
No, I'm saying, yeah.
Like, he might get a better job.
Here's what you got to do.
You got to be the football coach at home while he's a football coach for these 13 and 14 year old boys.
Get a whistle.
You got to call the plays at home.
Yeah, say, hey, dinner.
6.30 p.m. sharp.
You're the boss.
And if you're late, if you're five minutes early, you're actually 10 minutes late.
Yeah, just let them have fun.
Sounds like a good hobby.
It sounds like there's a lot of women out there that I think would love for their husbands to be passionate and have a hobby that takes them out of the house every time.
Makes them excited, yeah.
My fiance and his friends
Keep planning yearly trips to Key West Florida
During the Masters weekend
While they're there
They like to go see this band called the dirt bags
D-U-R-T-B-A-G-S
Who apparently play every night and take requests
Now my fiancee is trying to convince me
To get the dirt bags
We're wedding whatever the costs
I'm not sure they will match the vibes
For all our guests
But he seems dead set that this will make our wedding
What are my options for persuading him
To go with the traditional DJ or
And leaving the dirt bag
in the Key West.
Live bands are awesome at weddings.
And this sounds like...
But like flying in a...
Sounds like it just like a cover band at a bar.
Yeah, but the dirtbags have a special place in their heart.
Yeah.
Just his heart.
He takes requests though.
The dirtbags take requests.
Yeah.
So you can play anything.
It's funny that this sounds like a guy that said this is the one thing that he'll work on at the wedding.
Yeah.
Like he's going to dedicate as much time as you are to like every other tiny detail with like
what kind of chairs you're going to get.
What kind of fun?
flowers. He's like, I'll handle the live music, honey. And he just has one band in his mind.
It also just sounds like something. Three years ago. Yeah. And had an incredible time at this bar.
Him and the boys love the dirt bags. And he's like, oh, the boys will love this. Yeah.
But she's like, I've never fucking seen this band. I'm looking at the dirt bags. They're cool.
Do you think that they have like an alter ego for formal occasions for weddings? One of them has a
Mohawk. Or maybe it's not dirt bags. Yeah. Yeah. Change your band name to something else. The wedding
band. The wedding dirt bags.
The solo key,
I love these guys. Yeah, you got to have the dirt bags. I'm sold.
Maybe. That's a perfect band for your wedding. Yeah.
I like that their font is the Beatles font, except it's the dirt bags.
Oh, they perform it dirty Harry's D-U-R-T-Y Harry. So like they're,
they're the in-house band.
Love that.
Maybe if they're listening to us right now, we can work out some sort of discount.
Yeah. In addition for one more
promotion on part of my take.
Dirtbags, go play this guy's wedding.
All right, numbers.
Three.
One.
Eight.
Oh, the boys.
Hank?
I'm waiting for Hank.
Why are you waiting for me?
69.
Oh, poor cold.
Mims.
I'll go 18.
There you go, memes.
You knew you got to do it.
What?
I'll go eight.
Marriota.
Marriota.
69.
69's been taken.
Sorry, Courtney.
39.
What did you take?
15.
806 for Shane.
Now, Colton.
One for next.
Button, now.
What else?
60.
59 for big.
8.
Oh.
83.
83.
83.
83.
Last one.
Last one of the day.
Who's going to get it?
Maybe 39.
Be a real.
Shamif it was $16.
Come on.
Come on.
Come on.
What did you get me?
18.

18.
18.
18.
18,
Peyton,
for sure.
It's 100%.
88.
88.
State Fider.
I've been picking 88.
I've been picking 88 almost like every day.
Yeah, maybe you should have picked it.
I should have picked it today.
Maybe you shouldn't try that.
Honestly, yeah.
About that.
Yeah, that's karma.
Have you ever thought about it?
Do you think about that?
I'm thinking about that right now, and you make a great point.
Shouldn't have done it.
My bad.
Happy birthday to John Harbaugh.
Happy birthday to Marty Schottenheimer.
Happy birthday to Marvin Lewis.

Hell yeah.
