Starting point is 00:00:32 and member terms apply. Hello I'm Rob Beckett and I'm Josh Willickham. Welcome to Parent in Hell the show in which Josh and I discuss what is really like to be a parent which I would say can be a little tricky. So, to make ourselves and hopefully you feel better about the trials and tribulations of modern-day parenting each week we're chatting to a famous parent about how they're coping. Or hopefully how they're not coping. And we'll also be hearing from you the listener with your tips, advice, and of course, tales of parenting woe.
Starting point is 00:01:10 Because let's be honest, there are plenty of times when none of us know what we're doing. Hello, you're listening to Parenting Hill with... Sally, can you say Josh Whitakum? Josh Gickin. And Bob Beckett. We'll take it. We'll take it. We'll take it.
Starting point is 00:01:36 Wow. It sounds like a big media buyer. We'll take it. You're like a light. Oh, you're really on that mic. It sounds sexy. Go on Josh, give it to me. Sorry. You sound s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to to say tho. to say tho. to say to say to say tho. to say to say to say to say to say to say to say to say to say. to say. to say. to say. to say. to say. to say. to say. to to to. too. to. too. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to to to th. th. th. th. to th. to th. th. to to tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. too. tho. too. tho. too. too. too. too. too. too. too mic. It sounds so sexy. Go on Josh, give it to me. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:01:45 You sound sexy. Don't apologize. Great work on the show, myself and wife are crazy big fans. It was suggested that there were not many Northerners listening. So here is proof of me and my son is called Sammy Digweed. Sammy Digweed! Sammy digweed! It's Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, Sammywee. It's sons called Sammy. You can't laugh at a kid's name. It's the Sammy's fine, it's the Digweed's the problem.
Starting point is 00:02:09 Yeah, I think he's aware of it, because he wouldn't have put there, not many Norse's is listening. So here's proof of me and my son Sammy Digweed, practicing your names last July when he was two. Sammy Digweed. We have lots of Northerners, nor nor nor don't have many Northerners submitting their small businesses. Yes, right.
Starting point is 00:02:28 Oh yes, of course. But we had someone from Middlesbrough that collects dog shit last week, so look, we're changing that way. I bet that's Ben Digweed and they live in Stockport, which is just a couple of miles from where I'm sitting as we record this. What happened? I thouw.. That's that's that's that's th. That's th. That's th. That's th. That's th. That's th. That's th. That's th. That's th. That's th. That's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thoer's th. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh yes. Something weird happened when you were in the toilet before I recorded this. I thought I saw someone walk past my window. I'm on the fourth floor Rob. I was so sure of it. I asked Michael whether we're recording the zoom so that I could look at it again. There's no way. There's no way.
Starting point is 00:02:58 I was sure I saw someone walk past my window to see if they were scaffolding. So what was it? I don't know. Ghost. So he didn't record it? No, he didn't record it so we'll never know. So the full floor, so what's how high is that 50 feet? Yeah, there's no white, look? Is anyone who's 50 foot tall? Yeah, in the Manchester area. I saw a bit of your bumme? I saw a bit bit bit bit bit bit bit bit bit bit bit bit bit th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I th. I th. No. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. he he he he th. th bottom of your back. You know when the shirt's got a bit small from the watch? And it's just sort of, it's fine, and but when you bend over, you'd be a bit of. You might say it's the washroble, have I been, have I been pushing so much that my shoulders have got big? You got a massive rockard pecks and shoulders. Yeah, I've got a sleep thing to talk about. Go on.
Starting point is 00:03:45 So a few nights ago my daughter woke up having a nightmare 2 a.m. We got her, she's slept in our bed then. And I'll be honest, I liked it Rob. You do, you know, it's a classic thing we talk about. All these don't let them do yeah but they're going to be older someday so I don't mind I like having the three in the bed it's nice. Well we go into the airbed I quite like getting to the bed with them if they're a bit upset or unwell or stuff. Oh she's got a shit mattress so I don't get in. Oh really? We got her a bad mattress originally and she doesn't realize how bad the thrace was we had at about that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that they had had had had at at at th at th at th at th at th at th at th at that that is had at that is had at that that. I had at thate. thate that. thate. their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their th. the. It's is the. the. I's the. thr. thr. theateate. theateats. theats. theats. theats. theats. the. I's thrown. I's amazing that we didn't realize how bad our old mattress was we had about 8, 10 years and it's so nice but when I get on their bed I'm like
Starting point is 00:04:28 this is literally the cheapest mattress we could find off like, is this bad? Should I be getting my kid a better mattress? She doesn't know she doesn't realize that she could be sleeping on a good mattress. But then I think would kept on waking up in the night, but it's because she has loads of lights on when she goes to bed. She has the main light off, but then three lamps on. It's really bright in her room. So what I've been doing is when she's asleep in the room, when I've been turning off, when I'm turning off,
Starting point is 00:04:54 the lamps, but I think she's been waking she's to she's to she's to she's to she off so she gets used to see from the darb. I'm like, well she'll get used to that eventually. Yeah, don't rush it. So as she got into the bed review and it was nice. And then the next night, the same thing happened again and I went, oh, this is right. This is a worry. This is a worry. before you can't suddenly go there's a new rule in town can you? So what what reason was she allowed in the night before? Nightmare both nights. Rose said do you think she's been picking up on what's going on in the Ukraine? I was like
Starting point is 00:05:32 of course she hasn't she's four? Well from six music news between the when we've got the radio on like she's also what are you gonna do about that even if she is? Yeah oh yes that I'm going the kid the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm that's not th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm that's not that's not th. I'm that's not th. I'm the the th. I'm th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi's thi's thi's thi. thi. the. the the the the the the the the thi. thi. thi. thi's thi's that even if she is? Yeah. Oh, yes, I'm going to Keeve. My kid's not sleeping, I'm going in. Let's get this sorted. Josh Riddickum turns up. He's borrowed my backpack. But yeah, no, I do. I sort of turn the news down and off a because for them it's so you they don't really understand the wider geopolitical landscape and the impact the other have.
Starting point is 00:06:08 No, exactly. I'm glad of that. She's not aware of the breakdown of the Soviet Union and what it led to in the late 80s. Exactly. Because I think that, am I more anxious now about all this bad news because it's really bad news, or were things like this happening when we were younger in like Iraq and then like the Cold War stuff or, you know, the other, there always seemed that you know, there was like wars in Bosnia and Croatia and there was lots of stuff happening. I know this is really bad, but like, or is it just now because I've got kids and I've
Starting point is 00:06:38 got responsibilities and I'm older and I'm more aware of it. When I was 20, I wouldn't give a shit about anything. I think we got lucky that there was nothing that was as affecting as this. Like my sister who's older than me, I remember her saying that she used to genuinely go to sleep in the 80s, worrying about being blown up by a nuclear bomb. Oh really? Yeah. So if you were a kid in the 80s, in Darmourmore, which, in there, in there, in Cormour, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in corma, in corma, which, th, I, I, I was, I was, I was a th, I was a th, I was a th, I was a th, I was a th, I was a th, I was a th. I was a th. I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I, I, I. I. I. I. I, I. I, I. I. I, I. I. I. I. I. I. I, I. I. I. I. I. I. I'm. I'ma, in, in, in, in th, in th. I'm tha, tha. tha. tha. tha. tha.a.a. tha.a. tha. th th th th th th th th th't a target. I don't think it would be the first point of attack. No, but Plymouth's a naval base, isn't it? So Plymouth might be one of the main target. Plymouth was bombed to fuck during the war. Oh was it? Yeah, it's one of those cities that was totally flattened during the war. It's a city. You are basically, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you are, you, you are, you are, you are, you are, you are basically, you are, you are basically, you are basically, you are basically, you're basically, you're basically, you're basically, you're basically, you're basically, you're basically, you're basically, basically, basically, you're basically a racist, you're basically a racist, you're basically a racist, you're basically a racist, you, you, you, you, you, you, th. racist that's what you are you're basically. Rob, it's the biggest city in the world to never have had a top division football team. It's the biggest city in Devon, sorry.
Starting point is 00:07:30 Yeah, a quarter of a million big ones, people. Sorry. Yeah, no, in Europe, biggest city in Wembley for a Titan Fury fight. Yeah, that's more or less a city. A quarter of a million, mate. Okay, plimaph is a city. Sure. Yeah. If you're saying that, I'll believe you. So is Exeter? Is it? Yeah. Exeter? Exeter is the name of the football club? It just looks a bit too chilled down there to be a city. Where did you think the last city was? Bristol?
Starting point is 00:08:07 It's sort of, this is sort of towns from Bristol onwards, isn't it? But there's no sort of office buildings, it's just sort of like... Do you know there's no, there's no motorway beyond Exeter, there's the A-38, which is the main road through Devon and Cornwall. But Exeter doesn't look like a city, it just looks like a few hours. It's got a cathedral. I know, but no one's doing the stock exchange in there, are they? Stock Exchange? I just, I imagine there should be an office block in a city.
Starting point is 00:08:35 There is an office block in Exeter. Is there? I don't be city, you know a fence Plymouth. Jesus. Should we bring on our guest, Rob? I think we've run out of steam. Okay, yeah, which is ironically how Plymouth is powered. I won't sell a ticket in Plymoth again, will I? Oh, the old pavilions, the old faithful Plymouth pavilions. Yeah, I don Yeah, they're probably too busy doing deals. They were all wearing office suits and had a Bluetooth scene when I did Plymouth last time, getting some deals done.

I'm still living on a new development with everyone else's bins in my garden at the moment.
Starting point is 00:10:28 Right, Rob, I mean, last leg America, are you not aware of that? That's a huge hit. Is it? No, no, of course not. No. a baby can you talk us through? What one child you've got haven't you? One little baby? Yeah, yeah, a daughter, yeah, so she's 10 weeks. Ten weeks. It's incredible. Yeah. It's been a like, yeah, a long journey to get it actually because it's we went through like a surrogate. Oh did you? I didn't know this? this is an incredible story.
Starting point is 00:11:05 So yeah, like we've been trying for about seven years off and on, like, and nothing really happening and that's sort of in itself quite, you know, for anyone struggling, because it's quite a thing that, isn't it? Yeah. And then my mrs went for some like checks and had some bits done and one of the things I do is I write right put die through your Philopian tubes. Yeah, some of the die got Basically stuck stuck in a blockage and like she got just really really ill it went toxic Yeah, so she was then this is a real great way to start. I'm glad we did all the bit at a top I'll talk about another canceled show in a minute
Starting point is 00:11:43 It's quite a morose chapel Tom Davis, isn't he? Yeah, that was actually the reviews of the last leg, New Zealand, it went tops there. And yeah, so she basically, yeah, she got pretty ill in it, sort of, she was in hospital over Christmas for about two weeks. Shit, when was this? A couple of years ago? So it was two years ago from like Christmas just gone, and we got told at that point we wouldn't be able to, like she wouldn't be able to conceive we couldn't have kids. Oh, my, I'm so sorry.
Starting point is 00:12:12 Because of that? Because, yeah, yeah, that was sort of the final, final now. So from there though, one of the nurses, while she was in hospital. We just got on really well with her here off with and she reached out like about for four months after that and said look I've always thought of being a surrogate and I've always thought of being a surrogate and I've always thought that you guys would be up for it. I don't know. You know if you to be up to the try and sort of to be to be in the try and to know quite a lot and her and a family and we started so Christmas a year ago we started on the journey on Christmas Day she started like go Catherine went for IVF and we you know did the embryos and yeah the surrogate went on the same thing and yeah like so Grace
Starting point is 00:12:55 was born on the 14th of December this year so it's like every Christmas like a milestone but but yeah it was an incredible journey from not ever thinking you're going to have yeah and it's all we really from you know we're both quite family orientated and we all we really want was kids so we're looking at adoption we're looking at stuff like but yeah it's like it's like a miracle thing of like you know you know that you so you know you sort of you know that sort of you know that sort of like that sort village to raise a child. It's like the amount of different levels of like, you know, from NHS who are incredible to sort of, you know, the surrogate to... That nurse, that's, so she just kind of met you. We've gotten really well and she heard my wife here off and she reached out and she's just like, you know, like, you know, so this basically happened and this basically happened and thi. This is all, this this this, this, this, this, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, the the the the the the the the the the the the their, their, their, their, their, their, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, the, you, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, theirto the pandemic. So like you both, you know, I'm used to being out working and all of a sudden you've got this news that hits you, you're festering that news and you can't
Starting point is 00:13:49 go out, you can't see anyone else. So that's when you found out basically about the blockage in the floping tubes and they Catherine just dealt with it. Ourselves and when you know and it is a journey it's it's like a thing that I sort of I think is you went through such a process and also just going through that surrogacy is you know I listened to the one of these with H from steps it's such a like like it's kind of a primitive thing in this country still it's kind of like like like like like like like like like like like the like the the the the th a th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's like th. It's like th. It's like th. It's kind of like th. It's kind th. It's kind of th. It's th. It's kind th. It's kind. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. I. I. It's. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I I. I. It's like. I I I I I I I. I. I. It's like. I I. I. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's kind of. It's kind of. It's kind of. It's kind of. It's kind of. It's kind of like. It's kind of like. I'm like. I'm like. It's kind. I'm like. It's kind. It's kind. It's kind th. It's kind of. It's kind of. It's kind of a. It's kind of a primitive thing in this country still. It's kind of like, like, even when Grace was born, like, and we're given grace and, you know, but then you're like, oh actually I don't know if we can leave the hospital until this has happened and that's happened and you're like, what the, like, you know, this is a legal stuff? Yeah, man. You know, you're calling your a sort of like, something from East Enders.
Starting point is 00:14:45 So what, she kind of needs to be signed over to you, like, like a house, kind of second-lane car. Well, that was in the car game. It's like, yeah, yeah, yeah. Got moving that outside the hospital. We're just waiting for the keys. Have you got a tax book? the to, have a to, have a to, have a to, have, have, have, have, the the the t, the t, t, to, the to, t, the t, the, t, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, to to, to to to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to. to. to. to. too, ta, their, their ta, their their the ta, the the the ta, the too, the the too, the the too, the the too, the too, like, like, like, like, like, like, theirOT rigs? We just need a Corgi registered gas fit to sign off on the boiler. What's going on here? Yeah, so we met this woman about two years ago, she's just had her child, but she's your child,
Starting point is 00:15:12 yeah? That's your child though, yeah? Yeah, cool. Farming me. Thanks, Gail. Just her belly, yeah. Oh, okay. So we've just used to cook credit to humanity see a later mate what lovely story sign here nine hundred quid yeah it's so so it's your sperm and her egg put together in like a lab and then yeah you do it an embryo and then from there yeah it's implanted so every step of it's like that is this gonna work is that gonna work it's like the air of tension is just like you know another level of and then and then then through out the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th th of th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. So. So. So. So. So. So. So. So. So. So. So. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's the. the. that's. the. So. So. So. the. the. to work is that going to work it? The air of tension is just like, you know another level of and then and then you go and then throughout the whole pregnancy you're like obviously It's a weird thing talking to mates. We've got kids talking to mates. up your sleep like we're camels in the desert and you're like oh yeah you can't store it up if you're already at it no you can't store up
Starting point is 00:16:11 fuck it it's not like you know your body goes oh fuck yeah yeah we can't see January to fucking August December whatever but remember we had all that sleep for two months yeah well yeah I suppose well I suppose well because you know like the to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the they. they. I they. they. they. I the they. the they. the the they. I was I was the yeah with Lou she was so like knackered from carrying the baby like you sort of as Lou like restless sleeping and stuff like that but it must be like twiddling your thumbs a little bit just like oh god must been so hard waiting. How often are you checking in with like weekly yeah we still like she's sort of become a part yeah that's the other thing you got to make sure think is like how you don't want it to be a business transaction. You want to make sure that when it comes to the day you've got to explain, because you have to talk about how she came to be here and I think you don't want to be the people go, oh yeah we gave someone some money and you want to make sure that's like, you with you, I just find it just that level of humanity. Like in a world at the moment where the world we live in and obviously it's had
Starting point is 00:17:08 job as comedians we're constantly taking, you know, we take the mic out of stuff and you have a joke about stuff but then when you look at someone who's just gone and done something like that for nothing really. Yeah, it's an incredible thing. And like you know it's it's given us the one thing and even like her other half I look at him and think like he's gone through this as well you know he's gone for his wife and I'm really for this but they're gonna implant the sperm in the egg aren't there's that that big Tom's not getting involved is it? We're coming around with a fucking I like murder and successful but not that
Starting point is 00:17:45 much. I like a fellow he knows his improv but I'm not sure about this. Yeah. Because that's the thing, the way H did it is in America it's more like a business transaction where you go on an app kind of thing and you pay money and like the contract signed beforehand and then as soon as the baby's born you can just boot off over here their baby's bode... their. their. their. their. their. to just. their. their. to just. their. their. to just. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. I's their. I's their. I's their. I's their. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I I's. I's. I I I's. I. I I's. I. I. I. I. I. He. I. I. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's th. He's th. He's the th. He's th. He's th. He's the the the the the the th. the the the the transaction, they still need to be supported if they're pregnant and stuff. Yeah, man. They need, you know, like the stuff to go with it, like pregnancy pillows or some, you know, any stuff they need to help along the way and checkups and get into the hospital and stuff, you know, so it's like... Also it's the stuff after that's stuff, that's stuff, that's stuff, that's, that's, the stuff, the stuff, the stuff, the stuff, the stuff, the stuff, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, stuff, the stuff, the stuff, the stuff, the stuff, the stuff, the stuff, stuff, you..... the stuff, stuff, stuff, you. It's, stuff, stuff, you, stuff, like, stuff sure that as a couple, me and Catherine made sure that, you know, we were there with her and we talked to her and made sure that anything that she needed or anything that she wanted for her and her family
Starting point is 00:18:32 was always there, you know, it was always like, you know, whether, because, you know, because, you know, post-nate depression or anything, you know, it's such a a a such such such such such such, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, to, to, to, to, we.. And, we. to, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're their.. We're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we we we we we we we we're, we we... we. we. We. We. We. We. We. We. We. We. We. We. We. We. We. We. We. We. We. We. We. We. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the the the the the the there, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. We're, we're, we're. So yeah, that's what I mean in a sense, you sort of, you've gained sort of family, but also gained people, you think, Christ, like you've given up a year essentially of your life to do something amazing for me and being my wife and now my daughter and it's, yeah, man, it's, me naturally as a person anyway, I don't think I'd ever been able to just like, sort of th you th th you th, th, th, th, th, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th....................................................................... You. Yeah, yeah, it's weird because you're part of your like, you know, it's like a friend of the family. It's always become full family of like the special sort of like auntie almost
Starting point is 00:19:11 kind of thing. And it's the important thing because I always sort of weird he took the piss out of people you know when they go like um oh I find myself doing it to everyone who comes in our house. This is your uncle's uncle's uncle's wrong yeah this is your uncle whatever. This is daddy's colleague Rommish. I didn't ask this with H because I'm not as familiar with H but um could you take us through because we had a lot of chat with this, the providing your own, providing the sample, Tom. What was that experience like? So the first part of it was, like, you can now do it, basically, if you live within an hour
Starting point is 00:19:54 of the place, you can do it at home and then whiz it to the place. So the first time when I was doing my sample to see what it was, I had to do it, I, I, I, I, I, the, the, the, the, the, th, th, th, th, th, th, thin, th, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, that, that, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, was, was, was, was, was, was, the, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, the the the the the the the the the the the the the they.s.s. the the the the the the the the the the first.s. the the the the first. the first. the the first. what was. I had to do it at home and I just got stage fright. Like, it was genuinely, like my missus had to go through, like, the women in this process have to go for the most awful things, right? They have to really like, it's touching. And, no, she just had to go at me. She actually looked at you. I came in and went, I don't think I don't think I can do it and she, when you've done it in this house before, like what's the problem? It's like the pressure. My guys are feeling pressured. So in the end she was like, well yeah, we'll go to the clinic and get it done. Which is... Oh, she didn't do it at home? No, did it? Also because I was really worried about not getting in it. I was like try to keep it warm in your hands just to run it in and go how long did you dispose of it and it's also clerical right there so it's like how long was this withdrawn how much was the road you don't want to be there too early but no three minutes ago we're sweating red face
Starting point is 00:20:54 so so in the end I just yeah you do it in the room which is like so what's the car in a car park. A lot of people do. So at the end I just yeah you do it in the room which is like... So what's the room like? It's a gray, it's a pretty soulless room. It's like all the old sort of joke about like the old sort of, I think there's a porn-mage in drawers but the thing they're pretty clear about is there's a Wi-Wi-tha-there. There's a wo' the the the the the th-the-the-tha thing th-tha thing th-tha thing th-tha thing th-tha thing th- th- th- th- th- th- th- th- th- th- th- th- th- th- th- th- th-tha-tha-tha-tha th-tha-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n' th-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n't-n't-n't-n't-n't-n't-n't-n't-n't-n't-a-n't-a-a-n'-a-a-a-soo'-s'-s'-train-train-train-train-s'-train-train-train-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n, there's decent Wi-Fi, that's what a woman said to me. There's a good Wi-Fi in there. There's good Wi-Fi in that. Oh, God, I'm going to stop my emails actually while I'm in there. Well, so I can Instagram like this, yeah? Yeah. It must be weird though, working on that reception desk. You're just seeing men every the tho-I. thoom. th. thoom. th. th. thin. thin. thin. thin. thin. thin. to-I. I. thi-I. I's, I's, thi-I-s. thi-s. th-s. I's-s. th-s. th-I-I's-s. I's-I-I's-s. I'm just-s. I'm just-s. I'm going. I'm going, I'm going. I'm going. I'm going. I'm just-s. I's-s. I's-s. I's-s. I's-s. I's-s. I's-s. I's-s. I's-s. I's-s. I's-s. I's-s. I's-s. I's-s. I's-s. I's-a-s-a-s-s-a-s-a-s-a-s-s-a-s. Oh-s. Oh-s. Oh, I'm going-s. Oh, I'm going-s. Oh, I'm going-s-s. Oh, I'm going-s. Oh, I'm going when you're a man sitting in the waiting room while you're there. Yeah. So every
Starting point is 00:21:48 bloke you're looking at you're sort of like, all right? Just a little nod over like, yeah. Were you worried about two things. The amount of time you're in there, did you get in your head at all about like... No, I was, I think the first thing is like how you settle in, like where are you going to lay down because there's a bed there. She was like the bed's all been clean. It was like, I'm not, I am not laying down. Did you lie that up? No, of course I didn't. I still over the sink. Massive legs hanging off the edge. He's lying down. He's lying down. He's lying. He's lying. Oh, where's Tom when he fell, he's catching up on his sleep, he's getting out of sleep if you fell asleep? I'm storing up mate. I'm storing up and just lying they're all limp. Oh, you didn't finish then? No, yeah, no, I stood up for it and, uh, yeah. And then you sort of, yeah, you're walking around for a bit with, you know, she said leave it in there, but I got really panicky that if if if if if if if if if I they...... If I they, if I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thin, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just just, just just just just just just, just just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just just just, just just, just just just, just just, just just just just just just just, just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just.. Just. Just. Just, just, just, just, just. Just. Just. Just, just, just, just, just, just, just. Just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, I. th. th. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to th. the the the the the the the the the to leave it in there, no. You don't want to mix up as well. That's the absolute nightmare.
Starting point is 00:22:45 Yeah, that would be the worst one. But also, you have a thing like, when we were going for all this, right, and then you get the call and they're like, oh, you know, your semen's strong, it's a strong seaman. I sort of, there's, there's, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when the.... the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. got friends who've been on the other side of that, but I think there's such a stigma attached, you know, because once you get married, everyone turns around and says, oh you'll have kids, you're going to have kids, oh yeah, we've been married for a long enough that everyone was constantly asking. I just produced you're too much to fucking legend. You didn't want to lose you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you their to lose to lose to lose to lose to lose to lose to lose to lose to lose to lose to lose to lose to lose to lose to lose to lose, you're to, you're to, you're to, you're to, you're to, you're to to to, to to, to, to, to, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. thoo, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi, once, once, once, once, once, once, time ago Josh that went with the ring. It's only
Starting point is 00:23:25 football tournaments now that I can get out. But I was like there I was like at first you have this sort of masculinity of like oh yeah yeah yeah yeah but I'm pretty fucking strong I've got very strong seed and then you realize what absolute size of you mate. Like what a prick yeah yeah but you've got two kids you're tiny. I'm not really. Maybe my spurns are too big. It's what's the problem is.
Starting point is 00:23:54 Well, that's the thing. You're getting, you're going, like, I feel like a good about myself because, you know, the strong sperm. They've got no control over that, the same way as you shouldn't care if it's not strong sperm. It's not like you've done it, you know, I know certain lifestyle choices can affect it, but fundamentally it's normally a chemical thing inside you. So it's a bit like, you know, something like your mental health. You can't really control it, you're just a sort of, you're just a passenger in it, no, no, of course. Yeah, it's not. I can't. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. I. It's not. I. It's not. It's not. It's not. I. It's not. It's not. I. It's not. I. It's not. It's not. I. I can't. I. I can't. It's not. It's not. I that. I. I. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's, you. It's, I. It's, I. It's, I. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's, I. It's, I. It's, I. It's not, I. It's not, you. It's not, you. It's not, you. I the. It's not, you. I th. I th. I the. It's not, you. I th. I the. I the. I the. I. I a thing though, there's a lot of pressure on that, you know, is it called a specimen, deposit, what do you call it, but pot or spunk, but there's a lot of pressure on it because you're like, leading up to it, go, okay, next week I'm going
Starting point is 00:24:32 to do it, you're like, right, I'm not going to drink, I'm going to the place and I did two samples. The first time I did the samples, I had been out like a night or two before and I had a right drink and it was sort of, I was so hung over and sort of in my head I was like, even if these are spurns at work, do I want my child born from like really drunk, old, like, lazy old scene. Yeah, gross's like going. I'm a ready-mash.
Starting point is 00:25:09 Going to Spain when she's older and just tear her man going, no wonder you like it. I cut the sham and girls a day before you. Funny story actually. Yeah, yeah. But yeah, man, it's a, yeah, it's a hell of a thing. It's like, yeah, it's the one thing that, but it's the one thing you've got to do as a man, right? You've got to do it in one sample. And then they've got to both the salgaet and my wife
Starting point is 00:25:32 are like injecting them, they got to inject yourself, you've got to go for IVF, you've got these reallytwo women are doing this all of this so we can have this child and and like so try you know at times of going oh good the indignity of having a wank in a room in a room yeah yeah yeah they shouldn't do it in the waiting room and they're they shouldn't do it in the the the the the the the ladies have to go for is unbelievable compared to just a bit of waking in a pot were you at the birth yeah yeah yeah yeah I was took I took a sort of back so I wasn't I wasn't I can't be fun and said the yeah yeah yeah I try to look her in the eye afterwards no no it was no I was there and... Do you feel like a weird kind of spare part in that situation?
Starting point is 00:26:25 Yeah, yeah, I think, but I don't know what, like I say, this is the only way I've ever been through it, but I guess all men feel like... I felt like, I felt like, you know, we didn't have a surrogate and I still felt sort of like a spare part kind of thin, but, you know, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, you, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, you, like, like, you, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, like, the, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, yeah, I can't speak hardly enough of the NHS on the midwife's and how they took into consideration everything, you know, everything on board like, you know, from the situation we're in with the surrogate, but also obviously with what the three of us do for a living, there's an element of like people sort of prying in and like making sure we
Starting point is 00:26:58 that we felt like comfortable in that scenario book. Because yeah, some people may choose not to make it public that they went for a surrogate, which is their choice and stuff, but I think if you've got to be honest with your daughter early on, then I don't think there's a, I think it's a good thing to talk about. Also I think it's important to, you know, I think it's important to, you know, you know, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, like, you, like, you, you, like, like, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, the, th.. th. thin, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you know, you know, you know, you know, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, to, to, the, to, to, to, th.. to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, th. to, to, to, to, the, the a long time and I think it's, you know, because I think there's so many different levels as being a dad that we'll get on to, but also I think when it comes to sort of, like the struggle that we went through to to actually have a child was like, it's one thing I sort of, I'm really conscious of, like, I think whenever, when we go to parties, when, when, when, when the their their their, when we go, their, their, their, th, their, th. Like there was always a bit of heartbreak there like we'd always sort of I'd find it really hard at times and whenever you know family member or friend would get pregnant and we'd been trying for so long you'd sort of there's always a thing because you're really happy for other people but not being like shattling it from the roof to but also being honest about the process to get where we've got. I think it's really important
Starting point is 00:28:08 to talk about it and I think you should be really proud of yourself for doing it because lots of people listening will be going through similar things and to hear about you know, the process and stuff that, you know, that, the thinn't thi really their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their the process. I. I. I. I's really really really really really really really really really really really really hea'. I's really really really hea'. I'm really he's really he's really he's really he's really helps. And not. And not. And not, I'm really really really really really really really really really really really really really really understand it, do you know what I mean? No, yeah, that's what we found when we were first doing it. Like even family members, you know, you talk about it, people would be a little bit like, I think people have read horror stories like in those crony old magazines that you see and dentists. Yeah, of course.
Starting point is 00:28:35 But actually once you sort of describe it and you know, and sort of go through it, and also also, and th, and th, and th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th, th, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, tha, to, to, to, that, to, to, to, to, to, to, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, th like man it's an incredible thing that you know we offer that in this country we offer that to people like so it was all on the NHS? No we we we we were private for one reason another which and for the actual surrogacy because you know if I'm honest with you I didn't face that with the NHS you got like you've got to pass certain fitness tests so if I was looking for a new club I wouldn't have found it I the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th I I I I I I th I th I th I to to to to to th I th th to to to th to to to to to to to to to to to thus thus to to to to to to to to to to to th. th. th. th. th. You would have found the medical. I would have genuinely. That was one of the most indignifying parts of the whole thing.
Starting point is 00:29:13 I've never ever talked about this since. We were going for this oregancy thing. And before they even take the semen check with the NHS, they're like, look, if we're going to basically, if you're going to go to go to go to go the NHS they're like look if we're gonna basically if we if you're gonna go down this with us we need to sort of yeah we we kind of need to make sure it works and they you know which is fair enough you know they're gonna put a lot of money into you and yeah like the woman was like yeah you're a beast and like oh god that's a small thing you need. I've got a strong seat, it doesn't really matter, we don't know if you're going to fucking live it out.

I sort of started being a bit more healthy with my life choices. Just on a basis of like, and also that woman's voice echoed in my ear. She was like, you know, I was 22 stone and she was just like that's yeah you're you should be about 19 and like you know you're six for eight though as well yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah I was thick but they're
Starting point is 00:30:50 so long you don't so you don you don I'd say you don't look big no you know it's all in proportion because if people aren't a to the thinne the the the theyn't the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the they's they's they's they's they's they. the 8. So it's spreaded in that wanking room. It's unbelievable. He just opened the door and put his knob in it. That was it. You just squeeze me into it and pull me back out. It makes you feel better. When I did buy it, I was a bit, I was a bit heather at the time. When I did my life insurance, because you just sort of need life insurance and you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, their, their, to, to, and, their, and, their, and, to, their, their, to, their, to, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, th.... th. th. th. th. thed, just, just, just, thed, just, to to to to to to to to to took, just, just opened, just opened, to their. their. thed, so I've just didn't get your height and weight I gave him that and he went did an intake of breath like a mechanic but yeah that'd be an extra 120
Starting point is 00:31:29 quid I'm like come on I'm already spending that on food every week oh dear well I think there was time about the surrogacy and people not known about I think that's that's why it's so important you talk about it th you you th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th that that that that that that that that that that that's that's that's that's that's that's thi thi that's that's that's that's that's that that's that's that's that's that that's that's that that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's the that's th the th th the th I thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi the thi the the the the the the the the the the the the the the. theeee. theeee. that's that's that's that's that's that's there was time about surrogacy and people don't know about it. I think that's why it's so important you talk about it because people, it's a fairly new sort of science, isn't it, of like, the surrogacy and I don't know how it all works and things like that, like, and I think it's just people getting to, you know, if someone who's theyme something that happens I think it's just a it'll be a slow process and people like you talking about it will massively help that so I think it's really important. Yeah I agree. I think the biggest thing it could give people is hope and it's just that thing I think of people hopefully like we'll look at look at, look at and just
Starting point is 00:32:16 you know what I can make that move in and I can there something there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's something there's like there's nothing else that's working for you. And that's what you hope that people, yeah, people seek that. Would you go again or are you sticking at one? Yeah, we've, we know, we're still talking, I don't know, man. Do you know, I, I, uh, I, uh, yeah, I, I, uh, yeah, Ithat it's worked the first time and we've got quite a little miracle and we're just like that yes that's the joy of the moment yeah because I think we it's been such a long journey that I just I don't really want to think about anything apart from her and I and just like making sure it's just a distraction when you just wait a yeah and also what you realize is it's all encompassing isn't it it's like you know. know, she's been a really like a joy and I, you know, but then you get
Starting point is 00:33:06 that thing of going, like, you know, like last night for example, just couldn't, we have, we have family around. So everyone's holding her. She's had a day where like, she's like, more like, oh shit, like, well, this is. This is going on. And then you the the the, the, the, th. th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th.? And it's like, wow. Overly stimulated. Yeah, yeah. At what point in that does the magic of the miracle end? At what point at the night is the word miracle not been thrown around quite as much? It's hard because I keep on, everyone says that to me, but I do sort of every to, you know, like, this morning at six a the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the m the m the m. the m. the m. the m. the m. the m. the m. the m. the m. the m. the magic, the magic, the magic, the magic, the magic, the magic, the magic, the magic, the magic, the m........ the m... the m... the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the m.m. the pick her up and at the time I'm like and then I look at her and I think oh you know what it's it's like yeah you I feel so I think blessed with it all is it's it's we're actually just sounding corny I guess you just feel like don't get me wrong
Starting point is 00:33:56 there's moments of like you know'clock, we do the podcast. And I've got my mom and dad here and I'm like, we're all the family come around, I'm cooking Sunday lunch, and then my wife, I'm not, I'll give her an extra hour in bed, you know, and then the Ocada order comes, the try and I'm, I'm, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, and, I'm, I'm, I'm, and, I'm, I'm, and, and, and, and, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, and, and, and, and, and, and, the, all, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the I think this is one for you know so I go in and it you know you the rotivirus thing they have the drink no what's that yeah they have the rotivirus so when you take them to for their jabs and their injections they have like a basic shot they're having right I've no I've thought I've seen it right right so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so you you you you you you you you you you you you you the the the the the the the the the the the the the the right I'm not not not not not not not not not not not not not the right I'm they they they they they're so I'm they're so I'm the the the they're no no no no no I they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no I I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm so so. I'm so I'm so I'm so. Or otherwise I'm gonna be on Saturday night take away and it'll be like, enjoy the hunt?
Starting point is 00:34:52 Yeah, what was that? You gave my daughter from his palm. Yeah, I'm dressed up as nurses. Um, yeah, so that comes out out of their system and it, their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. And then I'm just, I've got Romish texting me going, he does this funny thing where he texts like 20 times going, I'm here, I'm here, I'm here, and I'm like, just I'm covered in shit. Like, onto my elbows. And she's laughing, and you're like, yeah, so you have those moments.
Starting point is 00:35:16 How is it going though? You know what, Rob, that's the thing like we, we were fortunate enough that we got her into a, not really took, but we were sort of like, I don't know, she sort of goes down at about nine, roughly to about sort of midnight, anywhere between midnight and half one and then steaks through about half five six from there. Oh, that's good, isn't it? I mean, let's face fact, fact that's absolutely terrible, but in thua. And that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, thua. And, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, tha. that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, thirty, that's, that, that's, that, that, th. th. that's, th. th. th. th. that's, she. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that's, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she. th. th. For the first six, seven weeks, we were like, we did it in shifts like we were working in a prison. Like, so I'd literally go like a- 24-hour garage. Yeah, I'd go to bed at like half six in the evening and wake up at about 1 a.m. And my wife would then pass me the baby and then I'd just just just just just just just just just sit then then then then then then then the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the ea' the the the e' the' the' the' the' the' the' th in shifts th in shifts th in shifts th in shifts th in shifts th in shifts the in shifts thi in shifts thi thi thi thi thi thi thi in thi in thi in thi in thi in thi thi thi thi the in the in the in the in the in the in the in the in the in the in theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee in shifts like the in shifts the in shifts, th looking at her like like I was on H-wing like you know sort of having about 50
Starting point is 00:36:05 coffees and sugary snacks and sort of like you know then shit my wife would come down and go like do you want to go have a nap and sort of like like clipped off and on but you know so like you know I think so sort of like so sort of like it's natural you're gonna read stuff in it and you you hear stuff and people mate say things and like you know so we were just so th just th just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just the the th th th the th th the the th th the the the the the the the the th. the the the the to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. things. things. things. things. the things. the the the were just so panicked about certain situations that sort of like could arise during the sleep. We were like, mate, we're like, she goes to bed and she's like, I'm like, you know, got these monitors on her and it's like, it's like, it's like, this is what daddy does for a living. It's a light in her. Starting point is 00:36:47 Try and keep it consistent, we're up against the clock here. You're a little three takes. Did you want to take time off work then when you knew she was coming? Or have you had to work still? How is it? Because it's difficult with your kind of job because? place? Unfortunately she came, I had like two or three weeks off we finished the curse and I had like two or three weeks off. Yeah the curse is brilliant series on that's great. Channel 4 on demand now with the people just do nothing corrupt of Femboys are in it yeah yeah yeah thank you. Yeah so thanks to the the.

Starting point is 00:39:48 isn't it? Yeah, exactly. Yeah, some drivers you're gonna get. If I'm on a motorway for three hours, I'll let you have it. If I'm going to to t's a good chance I'm gonna crash out. Most decent drivers will go sweet, but you're gonna get someone going, boy or cool and you're like, oh no, nice one, yeah, that's good, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'll see that thing you did the other week and are obsessed of having a boy. It's mental.
Starting point is 00:40:25 It's insane, isn't it? What did you want a girl, Tom? What was the reason that you kind of... I don't know, because my niece and a nephew are both amazing and I just, I don't know, I just thought, number one, that sort of, that sort of, I'll look, I just, I don't know, I just always sort of like, it was just on what we always thought of having and just always talked about. It's sort of like our heart was, always around, you know, don't give me wrong if it had been a boy, it had been amazing. But, yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:51 And that was by sort of chance with it being a girl. Can you do that then in Surrey, I think you can't had that, I'm, you know, I've got no information on this and I could be wildly, wildly inaccurate and like we could all get sued by her, she's studying to be a lawyer. Yeah, I know. Imagine that, that would be so pathetic, wouldn't it? Turned up to fucking Croydon and Crown Court. King Kodashion. It's like ruined. What happened and me going, well I said on a podcast, you know, Kim Kanisha, they chose me. There used to be a thing called a podcast back in the day.
Starting point is 00:41:32 Yeah. Would you do more, like, would you go into more kids things? You were in Paddington too, obviously? Yeah, like, which is going to be quite exciting when she's old enough to see Paddington too. Can you see yourself doing more kid stuff? Yeah one car I'll do one quick one but I think that's probably yeah sort of kid is yeah what you're planning in Willie Wonka can't it no I know it's by three of the umpulmpers cut me down I can't really say Beck, Seltzer.
Starting point is 00:42:05 It's like this big confidentiality thing, but yeah, not an umpullum. You Charlie Bucket. It should have been amazing. That would be like, I'd love to have been like the Charlie bucket of the future, do you what I mean? Like, like, like, true. He's basically been left the fucking chocolate factory, he's still trying to make it work but he's got none of the tricks he's gone up against fucking cabries that would be amazing wouldn't it? But so you when are you got like a bit of time off then once this is filmed?
Starting point is 00:42:28 That's a difficult thing isn't it like you can't want to go no sorry I'm not gonna do what really wonka I've got a month free mons off no no I also also I've like you know I think you k it kicks in k k k k k k k k k you the you k the the you k the the you k the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the they's to th is to the the the to the the the to the the the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the th is the th is th is th is th is the the th is the the the thi's thi's ti's ti's ti's try. try. try. try. try. try. try. try. try. try. try. try. try. sort of I've got like bits of writing bits of doing and would you continue to do stuff passion projects do you can you see yourself going oh fuck it I'm just gonna do this thing for the money now I've got a kid now. No no no I think I don't know it's a weird one in it's a moving house to Tom he's not he's moving out he's moving out he's he's no he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's the he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's the he's the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th th the the the th thi thi the the th thi the th not, I'm not going into the fucking jungle. No, no, no, I've got no. The jungle, I just constantly just, I just don't think it would be for me. I just, I just, I just think, no, the lack of. They won't give you enough food and you need a lot of you. It's too big to survive on that little. Do the bush tuck and tuck and tuck and tuck and tuck and tuck and th. And th. And th. And th. Where's Dick gone? He's eaten deen.
Starting point is 00:43:49 Well, that's the thing that you go... The fucking napkin down my front. Right, it's fucking right. Well, that's the thing on the jungle is they don't do portion portion sizes on people. So you're going the same the same the same the same the same the same the same the same the same Josh needs as much. Oh it would always be funny though if it turned a bit dark and you've got someone who's really big and hungry who started micking food off other people. It's sort of like, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:11 Like a bully and that's school playground. I'm bigger than you, give me some rice and beans. And people kept him in the dark, citizen nature and the best. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.................................................................................................... the.. the... the. the. the.. food. Just leaving him in. So you're in Lincolnshire? Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's just for the wife, man. She wanted it. I think like the next move would be probably sort of moved down south again, sort of, right? We lived in Bermondsey for the beginning of our relationship and then sort of, sort of, uh, Kingston for a bit here so so we were like it was a matter of yeah being close to them really for her sort of like being
Starting point is 00:44:46 close to her dad so you sort of and also the nature of our job is well on the road all the time we're busy well we're sort of you know if I'm filming or whatever I'm doing I'm you know it's not up then you you know I'm close with my family I've sort got a big well now the things as well you've not had to worry about schools and stuff so like if you do move you sort need to move when she's about four or five so that she can go to that school because you don't really want to be moving her when she's old when she's old you know no no no because that comes with its own like things and also the the the the the the things and the th things and th th th th th th th th th th th th th things and th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi tho tho tho thi thi thi thi tho tho tho th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thin thin thin thi thi thi thou to to to to to to to have friends from nursery that then she goes into school, but you don't want to start school and not known any of. I don't worry about that, I think nursery you can cut it off, but when, from primary to secondary, you want to make it a bit more cohesive.
Starting point is 00:45:34 My daughter, their four of them and it's it's fucking intense. Yeah but I think you've got... How is your daughter now? Four. Four. They've got the relationship of a of a girl band that's been touring together for too long. Yeah, they've got... Well, I think you want to balance, you don't want to move them too much, but also they've got to learn that people come and go in their lives. Yeah, and they can't have crutches. What are your daughter's ages, Rob? Four and six, so my eldest is in year one of school and then my youngest is starting reception next year.
Starting point is 00:46:14 So yeah, so obviously when they leave nursery, the kids are going to move again now. We really like the school they're in and there's a good secondary school nearby as well. So we're quite happy in this. We might move but we would stay in this area. Yeah, you've got to do a proper move. You've moved out out when you're like you'd be getting like that sort of bit out. Yeah, a bit further out. So like, at to be driving, doing the school run, killing yourself for an hour and a half. Do you live near to where you both grew up then? Um, no, Josh don't, I do. I'm, I'm in sort of like the nicer end of where I grow up in where I grew up, I grew up in their grow up. Because lose from the night, the nice, their, thin' thinnene' th. I's, th. I's, th. I's, th. I's, th. I's, th. I's, I's, I's, I's, I' their, I' their, I' their, I' their, I' their, I' their, I' their' their' their' their their their' their' their' their' their' their' their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I' th, I' th, I' th, I' th, I' throwne.. I' throwne. I' throwne, I' throwne, I' throwne, I' throwne, I' throwne, I' throwne, I' throwne, I' throwne, I kid. They're going to be like them posh kids, you know, like Madonna's son and the old Gallagher's kids.
Starting point is 00:47:08 Looking around with Guy Richie's around for a couple two. Why's Rocco hanging around with a ten-year-old? He's 29? That's a bit odd. There's a 50-year-old. What sort of dad do you reckon you'll be, Tom? I don't know. I don't know. Already it's like you see the difference of your like, you know, my wife's all about, she's about routine, she's about like, she's very on everything, you know, which is incredible. She's sort of like, you know, she's well read, she's, you know, and I'm just sort of doing silly voices and sort of, and so, you know, don't give me wrong.... I th me their th me th me th me th me th me th.
Starting point is 00:47:44 like you know every aspect of having a baby I'm into but I find the hardest thing is if she wakes up not messing about and like doing silly voices or silly faces to her and then my mrs will be like she needs to fucking rest right and you're stimulating her and I'm I'm sort of doing like weird accents and yeah and yeah and so yeah I mean I guess you'd hope that you'd be a fun dad if that's your otherwise you'll be you know when you read about like sort of comedians of sort of like yesterday year and it'll be like oh he was horrible at home yeah yeah he was never had a sense of humor like you just be like just to come home and he'd sit in his study and shout if we ever went in there you kind of hope that like you'd be the sort of dad that go oh no no get out I'm he was he was as massive dickhead at home he was in his day-to-day work.
Starting point is 00:48:25 I think that's the thing that yeah, you'd hope that you'd bring a bit of that home. What are you both like? Are you like, you're quite strict I'd imagine Josh? No? No? No, what? No, no, no. He's an absolute pussy.
Starting point is 00:48:35 their today. I don't even get to watch football anymore. I wake up every morning we watch golf, we watched, we had football on all day yesterday. Yeah, so one thing that I'm getting from. Yeah, but she's 10 weeks don't get cocky, mate. I want to watch, I was watching the Olympics at that point. I want her to look and go, oh yeah, yeah, so she associates those moments. She associates those moments with fun times. I'd give them a team to cheer on. Do you? We want that team to win, even if it's like a game I don't care about. And then they're like, oh, I should just pick the best team and then they get excited because their team's winning.
Starting point is 00:49:08 Oh wow, that's a good way of doing it. Yeah, that's a good bit of a distance between sort of lads grown up like with their dad sometimes a bit like they won't do nappies or that's a bit on school stereotypes so do you feel like quite different so like help the way that your dad was with you and stuff and you all with your kids or was your dad a bit more modern my dad was a yeah really my dad was like my dad was like my mom and dad was like my a my my mom my mom my mom my mom my mom my mom my mom my mom my mom my mom my mom my mom my mom my mom my mom my mom my mom my mom my mom my mom my dad was like my mom my mom my mom my mom my mom my mom my dad was the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th I was my dad was my dad was my dad was my mom my mom my mom my my dad my my dad my my my dad my dad my dad was my my dad was my dad was my dad was my dad was my dad was my dad was my dad was my dad was my dad was my dad was my dad was my dad was my dad was my dad was my dad was my dad was my dad was my dad was my dad was my dad was my dad was my dad was my dad was my dad was my mom was my mom was my mom was my mom was my mom was my mom was my mom was my mom was my mom was my mom was like my mom was like my mom. th. th. that was like my mom was like my mom was like my mom was like my mom was like my mom was like my mom was like my mom was like my mom was like my mom was like my mom was like my mom was like my mom was like my mom was like my mom was like my mom was like my mom was like at a weekends my mom will work she still work for the you know I keep fucking going on NHS she was a nurse so she worked at weekends and even so my dad was really like present like you know he was a you know he still is not incredible daddy he's sort we're really close yeah my the same and he's older generation and he should have been really
Starting point is 00:49:58 really he was like he's 78 my dad but he was really properly like when ever he the stuff he-on doing stuff playing games and just like but yeah even now though with that I bex I sort of found this I like I'm sort of still like black powers with I grew up with I work on sites and whatever and like you play golf and they're like oh you're gonna do nappies I thought I genuinely thought now that everyone did I think that was like yeah I find that a scene I'm gonna the thin I the the the the the the the the the the the the th you you you you you you you th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go I th you th you th I thin I tho I th th you th th th th no th no th no th th no I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thin thin thin thin thou thin that that that thou that that that that that that that that thou thin that that that that thou thin thou the the that the thin that that that obscene that like there's people who wouldn't. You're gonna hug your kid are you? You're gonna kiss them on the cheek. You sick oh, you sick fuck. You're gonna emotionally support on you, you pussy. You're gonna see if they were right after school, you mug.
Starting point is 00:50:34 Fuck off. Here we go. You're gonna give a stable background. You're gonna try to remember barmaid that we come in a contact in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in the contact the contact the contact the contact the contact the contact thethe nutty, the weird thing of like how, also I've got a lot of friends who had, I've got friends now who are my age who are grandfathers, do I mean, which is insane, you know, genuinely like I've got two mates, one of my godson's, he's got his kids now, do you know he's got two kids? Yeah, my godson, he's not a granddad, you're godson. No, no, no, he's got kids, so my best power, he's like, so that's an amazing thing to think of like,
Starting point is 00:51:11 but even then I see the difference now, like you think, like my power was, it'd have been 19 when he had his boy and now you look at him, actually as a grandfather, he's more, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's th. He's, he's thin, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he, he, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's got, th. He's got, th. He's got, th. He's got, th. He's got, the the th. He's got, but I think if he could go back again, he changed stuff. I think that's the interesting thing of having kids later in life. I look at it and think at some points I'm like, you know, because Jamie's obviously a good power mine and he, like, his little boy and my little girl were born within two weeks of their, and then there's a part of th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, thin, thin, thin, thin, th.. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, thin, th. Yeah, so you're like 40s, you're both in your 40s and you're like so you're older dads. But it's a part of me thinking I don't think I'd have been as, I don't think I was as settled as a human being as, as like in my 20s, even some of my 30s. Still I'm like my wife massively I'm very like proud working class I'm proud of where I've come from a crowd proud of what I've accomplished in this world that we are working but like from where like from the background that I've come and like I was brought up as a very working you
Starting point is 00:52:15 very very hard working class background when money was tired and all of a sudden I'm gonna be raising a little girl who's essentially living in a very middle class background and I'm like she's you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you the the they. you they. you they. they. they. they. they. th. th. th. th. th. th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm proud I'm proud I'm proud I'm proud I'm proud I'm proud I'm proud I'm proud I'm proud I'm proud I'm proud I'm proud. I'm proud. I'm proud. I'm proud. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. th. thi. I'm th. I'm th. I'm thi. I'm th. I'm thi. I'm proud. I'm proud. I'm proud. I'm proud. I'm th. I'm th. I'm going to be raising a little girl who's essentially living in a very middle class background. And I look like, she's, you know, there's no odds on any of our three kids are going to be middle class, right? You know, we, yeah, and so there you're like, there's a bone of right, how do you keep that ethos of like the sort of like the sort of sensibilities that you're brought up with and make, and make, and make, and make, and make, and make, and make, and make, and make, and make, and make, and make, and make, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, there.. And, there, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, even now like my dad takes a piss out of like stuff that I'm doing and stuff like like you know my dad you know it's like you know you know and ideas that I have of and he's like oh you know fuck you know you've got that pride in and let her know like where she comes from you know you know yeah yeah you sort of yeah you sort of yeah you so you sort of you don't. sort of you don't want to spoil them but you you so so so so so so you so you so you so you so you so you so you so you so you so you so you you you you you so you so you so you so you you you so so you you you so you you you so you so you so you you you you so you so you so you so you so you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you the the the the the the the the the the the th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th tho tho th tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho the the tho the tho't it and it's sort of like I got really troubled by that and I was like oh god I'm different and they're not going to get on and the from different backgrounds and stuff but you know
Starting point is 00:53:09 from a grandparents point of view like if your grandchildren are living a much more comfortable lifestyle where isn't things aren't as tired I think they've done their job well. They've given opportunities and life a the their the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their they've they've they've they've they've they've they've they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their son in this case has then carried that on with that work ethic of working hard and out you can offer your daughter things you never add and that all stems from the hard work from them so I think really they may be a bit different to them but it shows progress and that they've done a good job. I feel quite emotional where you say that back I feel like the emotion of being a father and yes I'm emotional rat I'm a little shiver I I I I I I I I I I I I I'm a little shi I'm a little shi I'm a little shi I'm a little shi I'm a little shi I'm a little shim I'm a little shim I'm a little shi I'm a little shim I'm a little shi. I'm a little shim. I'm a little shim. I'm a little shim. I'm a little shimmy I'm a little shiver I'm a little I'm a little I'm a little I'm a little I'm a little I'm a little I'm a little I'm a little I'm a little I'm a little I'm a little I'm a little I'm a little I'm a little little I'm a little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little I'm a that I'm a that I'm a that I'm a that I'm a that I'm a that I'm a th I'm a little shi. I'm a that's a th. I'm a little shi. I'm not a that's a little shi. I'm a that's a little thing I find really hard to control, like, you have this, like, the emotion of being a father, right? And, yes. Oh, mate, I'm emotional wreck.
Starting point is 00:53:49 I can cry on fucking anything now. Like, genuinely, like, I find myself just having moments where I just feel overcome by it, and sort of like, like, just being like know how you, you know, I talk a lot with Rom about this, I don't know, you know, all three of us do a job where, you know, he's quite emotionally dead though. I think it's the opposite, isn't it? I think it's a real melting point. It's just so covered over. It's sort of like a dormant volcano. You think there's nothing there but one day. But we're we talk about having an imposter syndrome and you
Starting point is 00:54:25 can kind of just about get away that in in your working life right and yeah all of us are like you know we do say where we're fortunate to do what we do for a living we're so lucky that's what we get up to doing like you know and we've all excelled at that which is fucking great because I think probably started off around the same sort of time and like you see the same sort of time and like you see that other people come and go whatever. I'll store you at the open mic gigs tell you know that's I should say this is my favourite for because I've got a fucking I'm doing um always big comedy tonight and like doing that's a new material stuff. Mate you've got up at 3 a.m. Have a night off mate. That's a fun drive. That's the fuck I'd like a drive. Uh huh. A that's. Uh. Uh. Uh. Uh. Uh. Uh. Uh. Uh. Uh. Uh. Uh. Uh. Uh. Uh. Uh. Uh. Uh. Uh. Uh. Uh. Uh. Uh, I. Uh, I. Uh, I'd. Uh, I'd. Uh, I'd. Uh, I'd. Uh, I'd. Uh, I'd. Uh, I'd. Uh, I'd. Uh, I'd. Uh, I'd a that's a that's a that's a fun like like. Uh, I'm a that I' that I' that I' that I' that I' that's a fun I' that's a fun I' that's a fun I I I' that's a fun I' that's a fun I' that I' that I' that I' that I' th. I' th. I' th. I' th. I' th. I'm a f'a, so I was gigging back in the day, an open mite night, try and characters were my, Beckett.
Starting point is 00:55:09 Yeah, he was doing a new character at this open night, yeah. And Beckett came onto me afterwards. I didn't say it to me then, did I? I think you, no, you said it to me a while, I think I said it to you later after one of your hit shows. And Beckett's around he said, go you used to it because it's not. Well I saw him at the Open Mike game, it was a new character and I don't think you've carried on. No, no, no, it's fair to say, he's never really seen the light of day. It just wasn't as good as the other ones he did. I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I themed. I themed. I themed. I themed. I themed. I themed. I theree. I theree. I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I the the the the the the the the the the the thed. I thed. He th th th th th th th th th th th thi. He thi. He thi. He thi. He thi. I said, I theree. I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I went, yeah I remember doing that gig together. But he went, yeah, that was years ago, that thing and I remember, I remember thinking, he's got something, but it ain't this.
Starting point is 00:55:51 You know what, like, that worst thing of like, Beckett and me come up around the same sort of time. It was about 20 people in a basement in London watching. You have that weird thing of like everyone kept on saying like, oh you must have met Beckett, you and Beckett we come from a very similar background. Yeah, you know, we never, I think we did eight out of ten cats twice together but yeah, never, no one of the thanks. I ever puttoday. Because it was like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. the. the. the. the. the. the the the the the to. to. to. to. to. to. to, to. to, everyone, with you and storm it is one of my favorite things I ever did that cats with you. Oh, we did your thing about your dad and child and our friends or isn't it? Yeah, that's hilarious. But I remember doing that gig and everyone was saying oh yeah wait to you and Rob will hit off you from the same and I was like, I fucking no and I was doing this new character, I thought, oh fuck, maybe I should just do saying that. At the time I was doing
Starting point is 00:56:46 sleep but a different version of it and I was like maybe I should do, no it's a new material I should try saying you know, I think she'll try saying you'll try to smash it. And then I just remember after it was like, the fucking, the thinks, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people, people,'re thinking, oh he's a fucking, he's an absolute waste's face. No, it was, all I remember thinking was, it was like the character weren't working, but I was like, how can someone who's so funny, so charismatic and so likable, being doing this badly? What's theyme?
Starting point is 00:57:15 What's it just didn't make the same. It was like someone to the left. But he just looked perfect. He had everything going, but it just weren't the right character. That's what it's about trying thing, isn't it? But that's a weird thing in it of going back now and doing gigs again, like and doing, because you sort of missed that, like. I love the immediate feedback of a live gig. Yeah. It's also weird. It's not. that. that. that. that. It's not. that. It's not. It's not. that. It's not. It's not. It's not. that. It's not. It's not. that's a. that's a. that's a weird. that's a weird. that's a weird. that's a weird. that's a weird. that's a weird. that's a weird. that's a weird. that's a weird. That's a weird. That's a weird. That's a weird. That's a weird. That's a weird. That's. That's. That's. That's. That's. That's. That's. That's. That's. That's. That's a weird. That's a weird. That's a weird. That's a weird. That's a weird. That's a weird. That's a weird. That's a weird. It's a weird. It's a weird. It's a weird. It's a weird. that's a weird. that's a weird. that's a weird. that's a weird. that's a weird. that's a weird. that's a weird. that's a weird. that's a weird. that's a weird, that's a weird. that's a weird. that's a weird, that's a weird. that night and then going looking on Twitter or Instagram and going oh shit people are watching it and people are talking because people will just box at it and they might mess you might not so you don't have any of that sort of stuff that we
Starting point is 00:57:50 were used to have him when we all started out so that's the stackle. So I think that's a sthaw. I think that's a's the plan I think is to sort of out desperate is a man for a hotel room sleeve yeah I'm trying to get back to stand at my roots yeah yeah just got a passion project you've shown no interest in that for the last fucking eight ten years you literally you're literally saying to me how lucky you were that you didn't have to fucking do any more gigs well if you want to do to do the the the the the the the the the the to to the the their. their. their. their. their. their. If. If. You. If. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You're. You. You. You. You. You're. You're. You. I. I. I. I. I'm. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I........................................................................................ the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. you were that you didn't have to fucking do any more gigs. Well, if you want to do some working progress, I know a good little promoter that runs eight gigs in the Highlands of Scotland that always sell out, they're really excited to see new people do live stuff, but it's eight nights on a hotel. So if you want to, we can arrange that. She listens to this podcast, that'll be? Tom, thank you so much.
Starting point is 00:58:46 That is so genuinely. One more question. Oh yeah, it just feels a bit glib, doesn't it really, after the conversation we've had? Well, yeah, I'll take about it. Honestly, though, I know we said it earlier, but you're talking about it is so important and a lot of people, we get loads of messages of hearing different sort of parenting stories that are slightly, slightly different and I'd be in an open about it, and especially as a bloke from your background because working class folks don't talk about anything and the more they do the better it'll be. So well done for that. I think it was really important.
Starting point is 00:59:16 But now... You talk about returning to stand up? I thought that was really great. Very brave. No, it's not. It's a great great. the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. the th. the th. th. the th. the the the the the th. th. the the the thoke. thoke. thoek. the the thoke. tho tho tho tho tho the the the the the the their their their their their their their their their their their their their the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the th. tro. tro tro tro tro tro tro troo troo tro trooo trooooo troooooooooooooooooooooooooo is, is it it might be difficult with 10 weeks in, but is there one thing that your partner does parenting wise that annoys you that you'd rather, she didn't do, but you haven't brought it up yet because it might cause a row. Is there something you differ on at the moment? I think it's all the time but that just it's like everything that she's tip I'm like I can bake a birth I
Starting point is 00:59:51 can get her to sleep yeah let me do it differently yeah she's like yeah but it's kind of like she has to know one way I'm like she really doesn't she she just leave to the birth to fuz she's the birth I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I the the the the the the the th I I I I I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th the the just th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th that that she that that she that that that's that's that's that's that's to that's to theeeeeeee thi the thi thee thi the the the th she'll be fine. But yeah that's pretty much it really. It's weird though with some kids like my second one I could get to sleep instantly with one technique and Lou tried doing it would never work so it's just whatever works for you and it. Oh man it's in the I find burping is just like the winding technique is like it's like it's so fucking difficult you know what it's like. It's like. the. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so fucking. It's so fucking. It's so fucking. It's so fucking. It's so fucking. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. I. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so. It's so., Bex. Yeah, sometimes, yeah. Same, I'm not like, but, like, Burpin, I took to Burpin, a bit like I took to like, any sort of like spout or fucking playing like championship manager that like, oh, you know, it's a victory. It's like, literally like, you make it almost like, when she got it, it's like trying to get that, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, a. If. If. If. And, to. If. If. Like, to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. trying to get that last fucking like 10-15 mil of formula, like making sure she drinks it, so she caos.
Starting point is 01:00:49 So you treat that like a game, you're like, right, okay, if I can get her to do this, then I fucking win it being her dad. And if I don't, I fucking suck. I'm a loser. Yeah few lessons up the club. Just standing with you two in a fucking Beckett just going, no mate, all you got to do right, it's just... Is it in? Is it in? Yeah, he's it in, Tom. You just remit in some round of guns and then slow. Let me get a taste for it and then give it the rest. Tom, thanks so much. Thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you. Tom. Thank th. Thank th.
