Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello, I'm Rob Beckett. And I'm Josh Widdickham. Welcome to Parenting Hell, the show in which Josh and I discuss what it's really like to be a parent, which I would say can be a little tricky. So, to make ourselves and hopefully you feel better about the trials and tribulations of modern-day parenting, each week we'll be chatting to a famous parent about how they're coping. Or hopefully how they're not coping. And we'll also be hearing from you the listener with your tips, advice, and of course,
Starting point is 00:00:36 tales of parenting woe. Because let's be honest, there are plenty of times when none of us know what we're doing. Starting point is 00:01:15 Join for just $4.99 a month. Hello, you're listening to Parenting Hill with. Jensen, can you say Rob Beckett? Broad Beckett. And can you say Josh Widdickham? Josh Brue Cocker. Not bad. Decent? Decent.
Starting point is 00:01:33 This is my wife Anna asking our two-year-old son, Jensen to attempt your names. Thanks for making my commute to work a bit easier listing to your amazing podcast. Thanks. Oh, don't doing dirty like that Josh. Come on. Also there's a double space between an amazing and podcast, but I'm not even going to bring that up. Why are you killing him? Why are you killing him off with his grammar and spelling? I'm in a bad mood, Rob. You feel a bit spiky. What's been happening? No, I thank you to Chris from Ipswich. Cheers mate, at least put a capital at the start of your sentence. But um... You're what?
Starting point is 00:02:05 You're joking, I'm joking. No, it's been a stressful morning, Rob. It's been a stress. Okay. Can you hear it? Snow day, it's snowy. It's snowing. Oh, God, fuck the snowing.
Starting point is 00:02:14 We're back to old school recording. We're recording the World Cup and Josh is living. That's the least of my problems. I can hear my son screaming the house down as my very ill wife attempts. Oh no. to get him. Very ill? What's wrong of her? Well I don't know. Unwell? Yeah she's unwell. Yeah. You can't keep sound very ill. Sorry, sorry. It sounds too bleak. Sorry, Rob. She's very critically ill. Yeah, now my unwell wife. Yeah, okay.
Starting point is 00:02:52 Attempts to get him out of the house to get them to school in the snow with me. Oh God. Okay. thooe the process going to upstairs. to pop upstairs and do a podcast. So she walking both kids to school? No, getting a taxi. Right, okay.
Starting point is 00:03:09 Because it's quite an intense snowy day. Have you brought up her learning to drive yet? Yeah, we've discussed it a lot. This morning? No, I didn't bring up this morning. I thought that would be a fine part. I also didn't think she'd be able to action it this morning so there'd be nothing to be gained. And she's carrying the two kids out. Yeah, just a quick one. Have you booked in for that intensive
Starting point is 00:03:31 course? I was thinking it could be the most passive aggressive Christmas present in history. Oh you can't. A provisional driver's license. I'm not going to do it. I think you should the th a tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tho tho tho tho tho thin thin thin thin thin thi thi thi thi tho tho tho tho tho tho thin thi thi. thin tho tho tho tho tho thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. I think you should have happened to just a and I think you should record her reaction She opened it to put in a big box Put in a big Chanel box Jimmy Chu box I feel like I'm trying I'm racking my brain for like sex in the city references of what women one in a sort of, actually sexist way. Imagine me walking into Chanel in, presumably on New Bond Strait.
Starting point is 00:04:12 Hi guys, can I purchase one box, please, for an amusing present? I've got a cracking idea for my, uh, I'm actually gonna put a Hoover in it. I'm not, like, I've heard stories about that where like, old school men would do that and it's a bit like, and some sort of like washing up liquid or something like that. That, what, like, no one has ever laughed at that ever. There's no surprise. There's no surprise. I think there should be a law against practical jokes where the result is worse than what you think like the practical joke where you
Starting point is 00:04:49 think something good's happened and then something bad's happened isn't it's just cruel. The classic one is jumping out on your child to scare them because you think it might be a bit of a laugh and then they just get absolutely terrible terrible decision it happened to me when I was a kid from my cousins and it was awful. Oh God. Scarred me for life. Yeah, show yourself, didn't you? Well sorry, sorry for, I feel bad because we were working to do this at 10 and then you wanted to do it at 8 but then you wanted to go back to 10 a.m. And then you'd move something to 10. Yeah now I've moved something. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. I feel I feel I feel I feel I feel I feel I feel the hardest school run, she's got to get a taxi with a baby, essentially, like a one-year-old, where me and Lou just walked her kids into school. Yeah, it's not ideal. But it was icy. So I went with, to hold hands with the children. With the children. Because we walked here. Do they love the snow-a-s. theirlady. the snow. their their their their their their their their their their their tap-s. tap-s. tap-s. tap-s. tape. tape. their their ta-s. their their their ta-a-s, their ta-s, their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their ta-s, ta-s, ta-s, ta-s, ta-s, ta-s, ta-s, ta-s, ta-s, ta-s, ta-s, ta-s. ta-s. ta-skkka-ska-ska-ska-ska-ska-ska-ska-ska-s, ta- snowman, which is classic. And then we got them already, they had a coat on, scarf, gloves, hat, and then they wanted
Starting point is 00:05:47 to do a snowball fight, but they had like McCutney gloves and then they were like, well, don't have a snowball fight because your gloves will get wet for the day. So then I said, why don't you can dry your hands on my jumper and then put the gloves back on. Because I thought that was quite a good, because if they're still going to have cold hands, they're still going to have cold hands and that's exactly. Yeah, so we did that and then that happened and that was fun and then Lou sort of give me a little bit of a slide going to end well and I was, and then I felt felt bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad I felt I felt I felt I felt I felt I felt I felt I felt I felt I felt I felt I felt I felt I felt so I felt I felt so I felt I felt so I felt I felt so I felt. I felt. I felt. I felt. I felt. I felt. I felt. I felt. I felt. I felt. I felt. I felt. I felt bad. I felt bad. I'm so I'm so. I'm so. I'm so. I so. I so. I so. I so I so I so I so I so I so I so I so I so I so I so I so I so. I so. I so. I so. I so. I so. I so. I so. I so. I so. I so. I so. I so. I so. I so. I so. I so. So, so. So, so. So, yeah. So, yeah. So, yeah. So, yeah. So, yeah. So, yeah. So, so, so, th. So, th. So, yeah, th. th. th. th. So, they. they. they. So, they. So, yeah, they. So, yeah, so, so, so, screamed and cried about having wet sleeves, which I didn't even think about, wet hands and they wouldn't dry them, the gloves wouldn't go on and then it got a bit tense, which is that photo I sent you and I was walking in the snow. That's why I look happy.
Starting point is 00:06:33 Now yeah, but then after that it was fine and then after that it was fine and then, then, after that it was fine, it was fine, it was fine, it was fine, it was fine, it was fine, it was fine, it was fine, it was fine, it was fine, it was fine, it was fine, it was fine, it was fine, it was fine, it was fine, it was fine, it was fine, it was fine, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thri, thri, thrown thrown thrown thrown thi, thrown thrown thrown thi, thrown thi, thi,'t it? It is fun. And then you just what I find is I become quite critical of how people have gritted things. Yes. Like going, well, they've done well on this path, but that bit of roads are treacherous. That's dangerous. That's dangerous. They should grit that as if I've got any idea of how you grit something and trying to grit an entire school. It must be a nightmare. Yeah I would. Yeah. their. I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I their th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I would th. I would th. I would th. I th. I th. I th. I the to to the to thi to thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi they're they're they're they grounds, what are they called, schoolkeepers, what you call, the people at school? The caretaker. Caretakers, yeah that's what they're called. They take care, it's a funny name, isn't it? They take care of them. That is a big day for them.
Starting point is 00:07:12 This is a big day for them. This is massive. This is massive. Do you know I used to get about a week a year off school because of snow. Oh yeah, I bet. I mean, yeah, because I imagine there'll be a lot of people that didn't go in today school, because even where we live, we're lucky because we live really near the school, but you know what it's like in zone 5? Anyone that lives a bit further out, that's dangerous. Do you want to want a glove tip from an old hand of someone who who to someone who that that that that that that that that that that that that to that that to that that to that to to to to to to to to that to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be even even even even even even even even even even even even even even even even even even even even even even even even even even even even even even even to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the to the the the the the the the the the the the tho the tho the the the to they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they? Oh yeah that was not that was nice by the way. It's just ingrained in you. Do I mean it's just like you're playing in the garden with the kids now so my pity has gone down a bit. Who's in the garden? Who's in the garden? Roses? They've got screaming. The screaming stopped and I just
Starting point is 00:07:54 looked out the window and I just looked out the car's The window can you keep it down I'm trying to work up here I love Rose and I love Rose and I want you to be nice to Rose I'm not no of course I know we both know I'm not gonna do it I'm not gonna do it oh yeah yeah so I love Rose and I want you to be nice to rose I'm not gonna do it oh yeah yeah so so what I used to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the to the the the the to the the the the the the th th you th to th to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th th th th th th thr thr thr thr the the the the tho the tho the tho the the the the the the the the both know I'm not going to do it. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. So what I used to do, to keep my gloves dry, Rob, was go gloves and then over the top marigolds. Heard, but I'm not sure about that. I think you look like some sort of pido that's disposing of a body. Well as a child, that, tho. not as an adult. So would there be adult marry golds? Yeah, because obviously I don't think there is children's marigolds there so I'd been 10 or whatever you can. Right, so you put that is a great tip so you get some marry gold. Oh, you know, you got the waterproof gloves but you've still, you're not just wearing
Starting point is 00:08:54 marigolds because that'll be so you've got the wool underneath you've basically. Great idea. You've got the warmth and th. You've the warmth the warmth the warmth th. Because that's what we were trying to work at. So also as well, which would be good, you know, the gloves, which would be good. You know, the gloves, the COVID, you know, when we don't really know how. Yeah, they'd work. They'd be. the. T. the. the. the. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. tho. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. to. to. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. tha. to. to. that. t go. Have you ever seen the little enema gloves for fingers? I've never had an enema. Well, not or not enema, but if you have to put anything up your bum,
Starting point is 00:09:28 yeah, I had to put some medication on my bum once, you get like a tie, you basically get a condom for the world's smallest man. Do you know, imagine like a five pence piece, Yeah. And then that goes that goes, that goes, that goes, that goes, that goes, that goes, that goes, that goes, that goes, that goes, that goes, that goes, that goes, that goes, that goes, that goes, that goes, they, they, you, you, you, I, I, I, I, I to to put, I, I, I, I to put, I to put, I to put, I, I to put some, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I. I. I. I, I. I to put, I to to put, I had, I had, I had to put, I had to put, I had to put, to put, to put, to put, to put, to put, to put, but, but, but, I'm... I had. can pop it up your bum. Oh, my word. Because it was, you know, when you go to doctors when you're like 21 or whatever at union, always give you a bag of condoms? Do you remember that? Yeah, yeah, that was a thing like, that the bum. We're all learning. How is your dick, by the way? Are you weird normally?
Starting point is 00:10:07 How's the velocity of your weed? No, that's, uh, yeah, I'm back to normal. But I had illness discussed in the last episode. Got so much worse. Man, it was awful, Rob. Yeah, so you had, okay, because you've been sacked, nothing to do with the audience. No, exactly. They didn't broadcast me. Yeah, just stay on there, mate. We'll be with you in a minute. Look at my spots here. Oh no, Josh. I look like a fucking teenager. And you've got sad eyes. I know I've got
Starting point is 00:10:38 I've got sad eyes. I know I've got these marks on marks the marks these marks these marks these marks these marks these marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks marks these marks these marks these marks these marks these marks these marks these marks these marks on my hand, like, I'll be honest with you Rob. I look like one of the kind of people that would hang out with Pete Dockety in the early 2000s. Like Kate Moss? I wish. Look at it. So I got all these scars on my hands. And all my fingers have gone hard, like not like an erection, like the end. I get you some of them little condoms like
Starting point is 00:11:05 so like um... thing-doms like I'm a guitar player like my fingers have gone hard like that or a smoker yeah exactly you know got them rock hard fingertips you could put a nail in a wall yeah exactly so oh my yeah you look really rough I couldn't all these soars in my mouth so i so I had to live on white bread for five days. Like a duck. Yeah. Rose would throw it to me. You're letting have your mouth open waiting for parosetum on white bread.
Starting point is 00:11:36 It was absolutely fucking awful mate. And you just got that off the kids. The kids don't get it that bad, do they when they have it? No, they were fine. Dirty, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I'm th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the, thirty, I had th. th. th. th, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, th, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, I had, that, that, I had that, that, that, I had that, get it that bad do they when they have it? No they were fine. Dirty germs I tell you what the germs you get out of kids like it's rubbish. Oh my god they're like there's so much snot in their heads. It's awful like I've forgotten what the first year or two nursery is like. Oh my yeah it's constant. It's like freshers. But rather it being sexy treatments. It's just their their their their their their their th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's thi. It's thi. It's thems thems thirty. It's thirt. It's thirton. It's thi. Just being rubbed, people snob, been rubbed onto each other. And then you like get near to Christmas.
Starting point is 00:12:11 We're like, oh, should we not put him in because like there's ill kids there and stuff? And you're like, oh God, now you're just God. Anyway, it all ends this week. Well, at least it sounds like you're not going to get any worse than I'm in hand, foot, and mouth whatever you had. No, you'd hope, wouldn't you? And also, everyone thinks it's the fucking animal one. It's a different disease. So you'll say to people I had hand pyre, like I'm fine. I love not even your diseases in 90s. You have salmon in the next week.

Let's talk about Christmas in a bit. Let's ask you how the return to the United Kingdom was, Rob. Oh, yeah. Oh, my, the my the flight oh mate it's so far. Like I know I sort of knew where New Zealand was but you don't really get a pre you know because I went to New Zealand after Australia. Oh yeah is that further. Oh yes another two hour flight. Oh my God. So on the way back it was I flew it was 13 and a half hours from Acklund to Singapore for two hours and then in Singapore to London for some th to the to London to London to London to th th to London for some th so so to London for some some some th so th so the to London for some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some th so th so to to to to th so to to to to to to th. th so to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the tho. tho. the the the the tho. I the the the the thooooooo. I. I'm the the thoooo. I was. I was to to to to tho. I was in Singapore for two hours, and then Singapore to London for some reason was 14 hours. Well I know why you can't fly over Russia anymore.
Starting point is 00:14:09 Oh God. Do you know what? Good decision. Good decision. Good decision. But I'm just saying, yeah, it's a good decision not to fly over it. But yes, and then I land, we landed and there was no parking bay for the airplane. What? So we had to wait for an hour for a a a a a a to to to to to to to to the hour for a to the hour for a to to the to the to the to to the to the the to to fly an hour for a to fly an hour for a to fly a to fly a to fly to fly to fly to fly a to fly a to fly over for to fly over to fly over to fly over to fly over to fly over to fly over to fly to fly to fly to fly to fly to fly to fly to fly to fly to fly to fly to fly to fly to fly to fly to fly to fly to fly to fly to fly to fly to fly to fly to fly to fly to fly to fly to fly to fly to fly to fly the to fly the the the the the the the to fly over to fly over the to fly over to fly over to fly over the to fly over to fly over to to to fly over to to to to to to to to to fly over to fly over to fly over to fly was no parking bay for the airplane. What? So we had to wait for an hour for parking space. Oh my God. And then I had to wait an hour for a bag. So I was supposed to be home at about four or five o'clock to the kids. And it was like eight o'clock when I got back. And they just went mental.
Starting point is 00:14:34 And it was so excited. Yeah, I bet sorry for poor Lou. Well, the house was immaculate and she's made it all Christmas here. It looked unbelievable. Then I burst in with my mom and dad, who I've been traveling with for a month and then there was just bags everywhere. Kids were going mental, I had some presents for them and stuff like that. And like the house went into an absolute wreck, which, oh yeah. And then it was yes, so it's just been, it's been carnage, but it's been amazing
Starting point is 00:15:05 to see him and I'm so happy to be home. But look, can I just say, I've got to give Lou some massive respect here for basically solo parenting for a month on her own and the dog had to happen to go to the vets and the kids and organizing birthdays and sorting out all the Christmas Nativity clothes and all stuff like that. Like I, I can can't, I, I, I, I, I, I, the, the the the the the the th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, tho, thi, can, can't, tho, can't, can't, can't, can't, can't, can't, can't, can't, can't, can't, can't, can I th, can, can, can I th, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can't, can't, can't, thi, thi, thi, thi, tho, tho, tho, tho, their, their, tho, thoo, thooo, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho Nativity clothes and all stuff like that. Like, I can't believe she's done it and the kids are still happy. It sounds like you're in the dog house. I'm not in the dog house. I'm not, no, we're all good actually to be fair. Like it's always a bit awkward when you come back because the routine's
Starting point is 00:15:36 been set and then you start having your ideas of how tos like that. Like I forgot to shut the gate and the dog went upstairs and ate some more, like nearly ate some more chocolate and I got to hold off of that. But anyway, being able to look after two kids on her own and also any single parents listen I don't know how you do it full-time it is unbelievable. But yeah no I'm just saying that Lou's though because I'm very lucky to have a partner. Are you worried that Lou's about to go away from Anthrop? Is that where you're worried? No, no, she's going away. She's got a trip to New York booked with her friend. I think, I think, if Lou's listening to comes up I have to do now, which I accept. Like if we're in bed, which I accept. Yeah, like, do you want to like get me a drink from down,
Starting point is 00:16:28 we haven't brought you water up, you're going to get some drinks? That's a rob job. Yeah, can you take those bins out? That's for a robbjub. The kids were brilliant left off and looked after. And I managed to go and do something, which one was for work. Like I have to sort of do that and you have to build up tours. It's part of my job, you know, because if tell if tell you're, if you lucky position to be in.
Starting point is 00:17:06 So Lou, if you are listening, thank you very much. She did a brilliant job, I love you and I'm very grateful. Yeah, I just like to also say, I've just got bad news from Rose. What's that? The taxi pre-booking has fallen through. Okay. What's the option? I'm the'm doing this podcast, but it is for my job. Thank you for being so understanding. I'll go to try and order a taxi live on this podcast.
Starting point is 00:17:30 Right, okay, fair enough. I don't really know what to do in this situation. This is an absolute nightmare. Do you know why it's been canceled? Snow, isn't it? Yeah, if I had to put money on to put to put to put money to put money to put money to put money to put money to put money to put money to put money to put money money to put money to put money money money money money money money money money money money money money to to to put money to put money to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to taxxxxxxxxxy. taxy taxy taxy taxy taxi taxi taxi taxi tax taxi tax taxi taxi tax taxy on taxy district of London? Well the roads are all right I think. What did you order a water taxi? Oh, I'm not. Oh, I'm trying to.
Starting point is 00:17:51 Oh, I'm trying to. Oh, God. Oh, God. I mean, if you're an Uber driver, you're all toasty and bed, you think, I'll let it fall out, go out midday. No one wants a cab now. Oh, fuck. What, the other option is you drive, isn't it?
Starting point is 00:18:12 Well, no, because I'm doing this, thio'rown. thobe's they. they. they. they. the the the thi. to, to, to, to, to. to be. to. to. to. to. to. the the tooom. the tooom. tooom. the tooom. the tooom. tooom. tooom. tooom. too, too, too, too, too, the the too. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the tho. tho. tho. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. tho. tho. tod. toda. toda. toda. today. today. today. today. today. today. today. today. too. too. too. too. t to get the bus. And she's got a five-year-old and a one-year-old? Yeah, I would say, I would say what I've done this morning actually is worse than you going to Australia for a month. Yeah I mean I think th th is w w w w w w w w w w w w w w w w w w w w w w w w w's th is worse th is worse th is worse th is worse th is worse th is worse th is worse th is worse th is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse thus wors thi than than than than than than than than than than than than than than than than than th is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse is worse. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi is worse. thi is worse. thi is worse. thi is worse. thi is worse. I think maybe like we maybe could have rescheduled, but it's happened now. We're here now. No, we couldn't because I'm working all day. What time do you finish? Getting, I'm going into car, into London and then I'm meeting someone after that to do stuff. Like I'm, I fucked, like the day is, this is it.
Starting point is 00:18:57 This is my only chance. Oh God, Rob. What about send her this happened? What about, I just sent her this? I just sent you a link, maybe send her that, that might help. What, apply for your first professional? You're a fucking prick. You're an absolute prick. Do you know what, you could do the rest of the podcast on your own, mate? But do you want to know something? I can't even drive there now, because I've got to go into town after this, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. thi, you, you, you, you' tho, you' thr-a, you' thi, you're th, you're th, you're thi, you're thi, you're thi, you're thi, you're thi, you' th. You want me to get back in time? I wouldn't be able to get back in time.
Starting point is 00:19:27 Oh no, this is a disaster isn't it? It doesn't matter anyway because I've got to do this. So yeah we got, well yeah, are we doing this now or are we talking about doing this? It's hard tree. Was it a nice family day out or did you do it on your own? It was a nice family day out. Lovely. Yeah, went down to Pines and Needles in Victoria Park.
Starting point is 00:19:54 Very nice. Yeah, you have to be careful there, you might get a ex-hero'erwin needle. Well, that's fun. You've seen my hands. hands. Oh you come this way so you know the trees aren't for you come under. Oh God I can hear them crying downstairs what the fuck? All of them do you want to go and check? What am I going to do down there I think your your appearance will make it worse. Oh I don't look that bad Rob. Oh I don't look that bad Rob. Just a man on skag stumling down the stairs. Can I help?
Starting point is 00:20:27 Shall I just go down? Oh, maybe that was a good sound? Yeah, that sounds positive. In what way? Like, there's a taxi arriving? Not that positive, no, but like, less crying. Less crying. I think once they get out in the snow, it'll be the snow.
Starting point is 00:20:41 Yeah, thi's scooter's not going to work in the snow, so that's going to be a long walk for her. Oh, yeah, this is getting worse for you, isn't it now? It's right, so I feel bad now for laughing a bit, but Rosie's not up against it. Well, no, but I need to appear to feel like it because I like Rose and I want her to like me. Yeah, do you know what? The problem is though. How the problem is the problem is the problem is the problem is the problem is the problem is the problem is the problem is the problem is the problem is the problem is the problem is the problem is the problem is the problem is the problem is the problem is the problem is the problem is the problem. How. How. It, how. It is the problem. How, how, how, how, how, how, th. It's, th. It's, thi. It's, thi. It's, thi. It's, thi. It's, thi. It's, thi. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, it. It. It. It, it, it, it, it. It. It. It. It. It. It. It, it, it, it, it, I. It's, I. It's, I, I, I, I, I, I, I is, I is, I thi at work or in the pub, but everyone we've ever known listens? I know. And can I just say, how did you get in the position you have, but out of it you got a month in Australia, right?
Starting point is 00:21:16 And I am equally in owing to Rose and in exchange I've got to record a podcast. That's all I've done. Yeah, so you feel like we're at the same level of thankful and gratefulness a gratefulness and you got a month in Australia and I'm recording a fucking podcast at 830 in the morning. No you're the yeah well you're not having to go out in the snow are you? That's a good thing. I am I'm doing pickup, anyway. Okay. Oh, well, you're doing pickup, that's all right. That'll probably be more treacherous then. Will you drive for pickup? No, I can't, because I'm coming from town. Right, okay.
Starting point is 00:21:50 Why don't you drive into town and park? Because I'm doing this podcast. Because I can't park in Soho? There's NCPs if you got under a hundred quid for an hour? Do you want to tell me when I got told off in the airplane, Josh? Yeah. So basically I was half a... I was sort of half asleep and I was try to get comfortable because I had a jumper on but I was too hot and as I took it off I thought you know sometimes your t-shirt comes with you. Yeah. So I took it off and my t-shirt and jump will come off at the same time
Starting point is 00:22:28 and I felt a bit, but I want a plane with loads of people, but obviously it's like an accident, but you still feel a bit panicked and a bit like, everyone can see my body. You know what I mean? Yeah, anyway, so I sort of did, and I, and I sort so, and I sort of, and I'm, and I'm, and I'm, and I'm, and I'm, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, I'm th, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, I, I, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm th, I'm th, I'm th, I'm th, I'm th, I'm th, I'm t, I'm t, I'm t, I'm t.. And, I'm t. And, I'm t. And, I'm t. And, I'm t. And, I'm t. And, I'm t. And, I'm t. And, I'm t. And, and, I'm top I'm not I'm trying to wear a top I'm not I'm not trying to sleep here naked like some sort of fucking animal but yeah so that was quite that made me laugh of the plane and also what made me horrified was apparently in New Zealand loads of New Zealand to listen to this podcast and people in the plane said that the anti-natal classes in New Zealand are recommending this podcast What what I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I th I th I th I th I th I th I th th I th th th th th this th this th. I'm the. I'm the. I'm not the. I'm not the. I'm not the. I'm not the. I'm not to to to to to to to to to to to to to to this podcast and people on the plane said that their antinatal classes in New Zealand are recommending this podcast. What? Oh my gosh. I don't think that's a great idea is it really? That's amazing. I at least we know that an antinatal class are worse than ours.
Starting point is 00:23:14 That's the main thing to take home from that. This is that this is the way forward to listen to this. But we this this this this this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is th th th th th th th th. Do you know I don't take it right to get on with it? I feel I feel constant guilt. Okay so what would you like to say to Rose so when she... Rather than thank you sorry that's for everything that's for everything for yeah yeah that's it? Okay fair enough. Yeah great th I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's not that's not that's not that's not great. Yeah, yeah, great. I think that work. Yeah. Anything else we're going on when you, Josh? Well, Christmas is coming
Starting point is 00:24:13 obviously. I've done. I bought zero presents so far and I'm panicking. Really? Yeah, big style. I've been so busy from one thing to the other. Well we know we know, we've just sort out roses. Yeah, she sent me a text saying this is a nightmare and crucially it has no kisses on the end of the end of your text. And crucially, if I didn't, it wouldn't be a problem or a...Oh, my God, you're like in year nine you two? Still? Do and I put kisses on the end of our text, except occasionally when Rose will stop putting kisses on the end of the text because she's furious. Right, and it's sort of like a passive aggressive way to me. No, it's not even that.
Starting point is 00:24:54 It's not even that. She's so angry. It's directly aggressive. It's not an attack, I think it's more, she's not even, she's not even, she's not even, she's not, she's not, she's not, thia, thia, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's she's not even in a world in which she's willing to countenance that there could be love so I was drinking oh that was horrible so I just took a big swing of water sorry sorry I did you feel bad sorry I feel bad sorry I nearly choked on that. Yeah, sorry. Made me feel bad.
Starting point is 00:25:28 Right. Okay, yeah, so now she might just be busy and that's why she's not done the kitties. So I won't read into it too much. Rob, I've been in this relationship a decade, mate. Right, so talkers through Rose coming back. the school run. Will you see her today? Will you be off after this? Oh that's not, hmm, okay. So like that help it in a way because she'll be chilled out by then and it was she would have forgotten. Yeah, no, it'll be fine. The moment the school runs over, it'll be fine. That's what I've sort of learned with me and Lou is like, if one of us is a down. Exactly, exactly. Yeah. Oh God. Are you going to reply to her?
Starting point is 00:26:06 I don't think there's anything to be going, I've learned also. She's not looking for me to fix the situation because I can't. You can't. No. Just say, why don't you just miss about it? It's just it's lovely. It's a winter wonder land, embrace it. Enjoy the moment. the waltz. their things. It's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's the the the the their their their, it's, it's there, I's their, I'. And then I'll type it out but never send it. That's up that. Oh no, I've just got a text says the bus is seven minutes away. I don't know what I'm going to do with that. Yeah, I mean, you just go, oh that's quick. Okay, I'm sure she'll be fine mate. that's okay. that's thrown. the the the thahahahahahahahah. thah. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. Oh, oh, oh, oh, for her I feel really bad about what have you got to do today after this important high-fly and executive stuff? Yeah yeah big style mate. Yeah what kind of stuff I mean Mr. Big from Big Corp anyway should I talk about Christmas Rob? Yes let's talk
Starting point is 00:26:59 about Christmas I'm so I'm so unprepared it's unbelievable right so what's wrong what have you got to do? I had one plan yeah. to to to to to to to to to the to to to to the to to to to the to to to to to to the to the to the to to to they. to to to to they. to to to to to to to they. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their to their. What their. What their. What? their. to do. to do. they. What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? to they. to they. What? What? they. they. toda? What? try. try. try. today? have you got to do? I had one plan yeah which was I was going to get the train down to Devon with my daughter on the 27th so that we could do the Devon bit because I just thought it's easier than everyone driving she'll enjoy it. So what is your Christmas plan took me to stay at home? Who's? Who's? Who's? the. the the the the the the the the the the the the their. their. the their. the their. the the their. their. their their train. train. train. train? train? train? train? train? train. train. train? train? train? train. train. train plan. train plan. train. train. train. train. train. train. train. train. train. train. train. train. train. train. train. train. train. train. train. train. train. train. train. train. train. train. train. train. to. train. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. train. train. train. train. train. train. train. train. train. t coming? Roses mom. Just Rose's mom for Christmas. And then Rose's sister will come for the thing. Roses sister will come around for Christmas dinner. Right, and then your parents are down in Devon. Can't they come up and visit on the 27th, 28th? Yeah, but I was going to get the train roll but there's been strikes.
Starting point is 00:27:37 Why don't they drive up? I'd say, that's what I'd say my parents. If you want to see the kids at Christmas, come to us. It's not for them. There's a big Widdicum family event on the 27th. It's not just visiting family, there's a big thing going on. Right, I'll get you. Which I can't go to anymore. But there there we go. There we go. So that's my one plan gone. Oh, because the train strane drive train's drive train drive to drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive drive. Drive. Drive. Drive drive drive drive drive drive. Drive drive. Drive drive. no, but it's so far to drive children for a day or two. Right, okay. At four hours is it? No, it's more like, because the family meetup is in Cornwall. So it probably about six, six hours. Do you know what? I ate Cornwall. Not offence to the people there, if you're from London. If you live an hour away, fair enough, but it's like, it just gets narrower.
Starting point is 00:28:25 It's like Willy Wonka, you know, when he walks to the back of the room. That's what I feel like I am in Cornwall. It's starting, it's so narrow. So you much that I've just carried on. We're having a little meet-up aren't we on the 18th? I don't think I'll be drinking. Okay that's fine but I'm just saying that was our little Christmas. I've got a wedding on the 17th. You'd be drinking at that won't you? You should you just like not drinking now? That's fair enough. I definitely don't, I used to use it for social situations to be more relaxed, okay? And then it became a habit. So when I was 17 and 18 and going to the pub I'd be really nervous. If I had a
Starting point is 00:30:14 couple of beers I'd be calmer which is what most people do and everyone's doing it and it's part of going out, right? And then that carried on that's just what I do. And then I used to drink when I gigged a lot as a way to distress, which is okay now and again, but I was doing it too much and then I stopped doing that. And then I stopped doing that. So like now, really, if I'm on holiday and there's a really cold beer, I'll have one. Do you know what? I've been going to a rat party. I didn't drink. I've been to
Starting point is 00:30:45 a 40th birthday. I didn't drink. And do you know what? It's fine. Yeah. It's absolutely fine. Do you know what I save it for? Like when I meet up with mates and we go and I can listen to impromptu a little piss up. So when I bumped into Alan Carr in Sydney, that's what we did. that's great fun. But I I thia. thia. thia. th. th. th. th. thiii. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi's thi's thi's thi's thin, I'm thin, I'm thin, I didn't, I didn't, I didn't, I'm, I didn't, I didn't, I didn't, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's th. It's thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin. It's theeeea''''''''n't, thin. thea'''n't thin. It's fine, thin. It's fine, th. It's fine, th. It's fine, that's what we did. Yeah. It was great fun, but I didn't really drink for the rest of the trip really. No, I think I've I think I've hit old age Rob. I think I'm going to drink on occasion now. Yeah, now and again, just don't, but the way to sort of not drink is not going to go I'm never drinking again is I'm not like, just, you're in control of today. It's control of today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today today. It's control control control control control control control control control control of today. one day at a time Rob. Yeah I think that's good because that was a bit of a it's like a cultural habit thing of like after the gig you have for you yeah exactly. Will you end up getting back at 1 a.m. watching a blur thing off your face it's like no way to live Josh. Well that sounds fucking
Starting point is 00:31:33 brilliant actually. Yeah no I've not been drinking as much yeah I've not been drinking as much yeah the the theyn't the the the the they I I I I I I I I I I I the the the they. I the they. I they. I the they. No, I think you just get to have point work, especially when you've got to get up with the kids in the morning and do stuff. Do you know what other Christmas thing we're doing? What? Christmas Film Club. So, it's me and Rose and some friends in a WhatsApp group. And we all meet up on the WhatsApp group. And we watch the same Christmas movie at the same time. Like lockdown.
Starting point is 00:32:17 But we only do like terrible Hallmark Christmas movie. I watched one with Lindsay Lohan. I watched one with Lindsay Lohan in by last week Rob, the new Netflix Lindsay Loham, in which she plays an air-s who has a skiing accident and gets amnesia at Christmas and it is fucking brilliant. It's so good. So do you all press play at the same time? Oh do you ever pause it? You can't pause it? Yeah and then you all just make snarky comments on the WhatsApp group for 90 minutes. That's a good idea. It's really good fun. I'd highly recommend it. Well we've got a little Christmas meet up haven't we? The families. Yeah. Going a little Christmas day out in
Starting point is 00:32:53 London? Christmas Day? Yeah that's gonna be fun isn't it? They'll be excited. On Christmas Day Rosa's sister and her fiance and daughter are coming around. Right. But that's it really we've got New Year's Eve plans. Yeah, they're doing. Vague New Year's Eve. I hate New Year's Eve. Yeah it's rubbish but we're going to have people around on the day with kids and then people can stay if they want to into the evening. Perfect. Okay that will be nice. But we haven't sent the invites out yet, which is bad. I'm fully aware of that. I mean, it's not invite. Stop beating yourself up, Josh. I'm in trouble with presents or sort?
Starting point is 00:33:30 I'm not bought one fucking present for anyone, Rob. No, that's just Monday to Friday? Bloody hell. No, no, no, no, Rob. No, not just every. Not just Monday to Friday. Nine to five, Monday to Friday. How do you cope, Josh? And then I'm the best man at a wedding on a Saturday. Then, I've got to last leg Friday night. I've got to write the best man's. Starting point is 00:36:52 Yeah, if she's kept her listen to the coat. Yeah, I've that doesn't count anymore. It was mental Rob. I was holding back her winter coat. Yeah. And she was going out in the cold. So I was like, this is, this is, this is, this is insane. Yeah, yeah, so that's a lovely thing to do.
Starting point is 00:37:14 So she wanted a coat. no she was like yeah there's no point can I let you know something that is no longer a Christmas present no I know it isn't Rob so now I'm back to square one so what you do is you text her and you go seven minutes wouldn't be would fill a lot longer if you didn't have your nice new coat on I'm not gonna do that Rob okay well it's up to so yeah so yeah so you've got nothing okay you need to have a little think, don't you? Starting point is 00:38:48 Oh yeah, because 22nd the kids will be off as well so you won't even have any time. I mean, I've got an absolute shock. I think Lou and Rue's are going to go for lunch on the 22nd, no. Yeah, just them too. No, that's not true. Because we arranged it because it had been busy this year, me and you've been doing loads of parenting podcast stuff, so we were going to start as a kid. You can come around mine if you want. Do you know what?
Starting point is 00:39:10 Do you know what? Do you know what? I'm the ti. the finalist? I don't. freed up a bit of time for me. Yeah, well we're meeting, you know what I'm meeting until sevenish, are we on the 18th? So you could always pop into London before? On a Sunday before Christmas? Yeah, the shop shut up five.

The neon party, where they had UV light and just like it's like a little rave. That does sound good. I'd enjoy that. But I had two parties in one day because my other daughter's friend's birthday so I
Starting point is 00:39:55 went to a party in the morning and then one in the afternoon and she ran and her shoes. She had the biggest bruise and it was bleeding Josh it was awful. Oh dear. Let me send you this picture I've just sent it into the what's over it. Oh bloody how that that is a nasty bastard isn't it? It's a real nasty bastard. Did that as a skin come off there? A little bit not loads but yeah it's bad in it's a a, she's, it's her first year of school, so it's everyone's sort of meeting each other for the first time. And there were, the parents, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, I'm like, it's nothing, like,
Starting point is 00:40:28 like, it's working you're full, it's just kids running. And then I really, and then she was really grto manage it with like I'm not beating myself up about like doing my gigs and managing my work and not because I've been in Australia, I've been in work mode. But then since I've come back now my anxiety has been like maybe you're not very good dad. You know because I've not been here for a month and stuff changes. And then so it's been creeping back in and things like that. But anyway at the party the party the party the party the party the party th th th th th th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I've not th. I've not th. I've not th. I've th. I've th. I've not th. I've not th. I've not th. I've not th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've their. I's. I's. I. I's. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I've. I've. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm not. I'm not. I'm not. I'm not. I'm not. I'm not. I'm not. I'm not. I'm not. I'm not. I'm not. I'm not. the. I've the. I've the. I've the. I've the. I've the. I'm not. I'm not been here for a month and stuff changes. And then so it's been creeping back in and things like that. But anyway, at the party, she was like really grouchy. And I went, oh, do you want some chicken, there was some like chicken nugget tender things out? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:10 And I went, do you want some of that? Oh, do you want some of that, and I realized she hadn't had breakfast. Oh my God. And then she was hungry and I felt so bad. And then she smashed through seven chicken fillets. Then she was full of beans. Well, that's good. Yeah, so that was good. So it was good recovery. But I'm try to not beat myself their self. Also as well, I on yourself for presents.
Starting point is 00:41:45 Especially, I don't think you really need to get other adults' presents. I think that's a fair text to say, like to like my brothers, do you think I should send that to Rose at this exact moment? Maybe different for your wife, but I'd say, you know, when sometimes get presents presents for like an auntie or an uncle or anyone, yeah, if that, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I that's, I'm, I'm, I that's a that's a that's a that's, I that's, I that's, I that's, I that's, I that's, I that's, I that's, I that's, I that's, I that's, I that's, I that's, I, I that's, I, I, I that's, I, I, I, I that's, I that's, I, I that's, I's, I that's, I that's a fair, I'm, I'm a th.. I'm a th. I tha, I tha, I tha, I tha-a'a, I tha'a'a'a, I that's a fairer, I that's a fair text, I that's a fair only feel compelled to send you one back and then it takes up time, takes up money and stuff and if you want to you know if do what you want to do but I do think we're all grown up and if I got a message off one of my brothers or a cousin or auntie when we're not going to do presents for adults this year maybe just a little small thing for don't need to do that so don't push don't pressure yourself too much Josh but you I do think you need to buy a roast something I bought her a coat doesn't
Starting point is 00:42:32 account anymore does not count that's gone this I'm afraid it's just this has been the worst morning of my life right do you want a quick boomer yeah here we go at a to form for the podcast. You've really caught me at a moment. That's when you're at your best, you are. Just recovering from illness where you feel quite good yourself, but you're quite vulnerable. And you've done something to annoy Rose
Starting point is 00:42:54 by recording a podcast in the middle of the school run. Never the other storm of snow and illness. Any other text messages? No, I suppose you must be on the bus by now. Just message, how's it going, hon? I bet the buses are nice and warm. She'll have been on the bus 13 minutes. Nearly there. Message that.
Starting point is 00:43:17 Picking hell. What do you reckon, the worst thing you could message? I reckon if you message. Are you nearly back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back back? I reckon if you message, Hi Rose, are you nearly back? Because I've an eating breakfast yet, do you mind knocking me up something because I'm quite busy with the pod? Please can you send that and just see what happens? No, Rob.
Starting point is 00:43:38 She'll listen to this. So I'll get her response from that. I bet I'm the friend, like your friend that she doesn't, to, do, do, do, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the friend, their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their friend, so I'll get her response from that. I bet I'm the friend, like your friend that she doesn't like now, I think that's what's going to happen. No, she does enjoy you. She thinks you're a good quality comedian. Right, okay, good quality, I'll take that to solid. Oh, if you watch Josh. And anyone listening if you want to see me do stand-up live?
Starting point is 00:44:09 Also I should say. Film live. Um, because I think it's a good thing to say, is if you've already watched Wallop, so it's say the 27th. Rod Gilbert has released his DVD, a TV., but I don't know if people are aware. Rod Gilbert has not been very well, so he's unable to promote the DVD. Yes. So if he's a brilliant stand-up comedian, Rod, so if you want to to want to try and
Starting point is 00:44:37 if you want two good stand-up comedians this Christmas, that would be the Book of John by Rod Gilbert, I should say that. And then that's we we we that's we that's we that's we that's we that's that's that's that's that's that's that's I should say that. Yeah, and then that's we cover all bases. If you're a bit younger, want a stream, if you want to whip out an old school DVD, go for a DVD, but yeah, give Rod Gilbert a watch, and Wallop, you know. Yeah, I know he's been on well, but ideally Wallop first. Yeah, I mean, I mean, can't say that. I can't say that. I can't that. Can't that. Can't that. I that. I that. I that. that. that. that. that. that. that. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to whip to whip to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to whip to whip to to to whip to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the thr................................................... got no idea what channel for that. Let's not get bogged down by that. But yeah, no, support Rod, that'd be good because he can't he's still, I think he's still in the hospital so he can't really get out and promote it. So we're all trying to promote it for him. Yeah. Right, here we go. Let me do a boomer story and then we'll do small business. Booms Christmas. Hi Rob and Josh, my dad always enjoyed a lying, but
Starting point is 00:45:25 with three kids born within four years of each other, Christmas was obviously peak excitement and came with the added risk of an incredibly early get-up from at least one of us. So my dad came up with the ultimate Christmas boomer scam. Oh no. He told us we needed to stay in bed on Christmas day until 8.30 a.m. because we lived in Wolverhampton and Santa delivers alphabetically. That's a bad system. That's a tough system isn't it? If you got out of bed earlier Santa wouldn't have been able to deliver and we'd rather than the risk of disturbing his delivery. This made absolutely perfect sense to us. Our cousins in Dudley were up at 5 a.m. Of course they were! D is right down the other end of the alphabet the alphabet the alphabet the alphabet the alphabet the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the to to the the their. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their. to their. to their. to to their. to their. their. the. the. the. the. the the. the the. the the. the the. the the. their. their. their.a.a.a.a. their.a. their. their. te. te. te. te. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. t perfect sense to us. Our cousins in Dudley were up at 5 AM. Of course they were! D is right down the other end of the alphabet. We didn't question
Starting point is 00:46:10 the logistics of Santa bombing across from Bristol to Brisbane and for many years my dad avoided the Christmas Day crack of dawn wake up call. That is fun police isn't it? That is fun police. That is that is fun police. That is that is fun police. That is, that is brilliant. I admire it. I think that's because it's not doing any harm. That's from Cape, Cape from Kiderminster. That's from, she's moved towards this slightly earlier. Christmas. I'd say, I think that's fine, but I reckon 7 a.m., 8.30 is too late. Who's sleeping into 8.30?
Starting point is 00:46:39 Yeah. I just don't sleep. I'm like, fact, do you know what I've been doing? I've been doing? I've been doing. I've been doing your technique, Josh. Because what happened in Australia was I wouldn't sleep from jet lag and then I'd sleep for like 14 hours and then I'd sleep for like 14. And then, the neau, the tip. there. I'm going to. I'm to sleep. I'm, to sleep. to sleep. to sleep. to sleep. to sleep. to sleep. to sleep. to sleep. to sleep. to sleep. to sleep. to sleep. to sleep. to sleep. to sleep. to sleep. to sleep. to sleep. to sleep. to sleep. the the the the the the the the their. their. their. I wouldn't the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. half ten and I was like no just get up you've had enough sleep and I've been much better for it all the way through. Yeah there you go. So good tip Josh. Sure we do this small business if I told you this incredible story that a guy came up to me at the school quiz that I was hosting yeah you was forced to do no I wasn't forced to do I I enjoyed it. I loved it. I felt alive. I felt wanted. I felt needed. I felt needed. I felt like it completed me. It's really great. It really gives a whole PTA a boost having someone off the tele here. A little celebrity doing his little questions.
Starting point is 00:47:36 Are we doing it again? I can't wait. And also I've got you booked in for the school gig that we're doing. I checked it with your agent and you are available. Suck my dick you are available. Suck my dick. No way. I've checked with your agent and you're available. It's January the 2nd. Fuck off. I'd rather drink a pint of piss and donate a hundred quid. Okay, cool. Well that's fine. Do you want me to give you the backs details or... Piss bucket challenge? I'll bring that back. Okay. So anyway, so anyway, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, the the the the the the the th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. th. th. So, th. th. So, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. S, th. So anyway, yeah, someone came up to me and he had a small business shout out and he said, I've heard you talking on the podcast about your lack of parking opportunities near the hospital. Because you visit so much. He said, I live on the same street as the hospital. And here is a book of temporary
Starting point is 00:48:26 parking tickets. No. Yeah you know the when you've got a visit a parking scratch car, he's giving me some visit a car parking scratch cards because I go to the hospital so much. So is that a small business out? No that was what he gave me in exchange for me doing the small business show out so here's this small business.
