Whatever the moment, it's never, not once.
Ordinary.
At Bet365, we are here in Studio B for a big show.
Love these Thursday shows, a full breakdown of the Panthers who are coming up on Sunday.
Zach has sprinted up the stairs to join us to give us the latest from the Novacare complex.
And then, of course, we've got swooper at the end.
Lots of fun stuff.
How's everybody doing?
Doing great.
It's a lot to get into.
Even though the Panthers not a lot of juice for the game, they're still funny talking about that.
The game is a little bit more interesting than it would have been four weeks ago, which we will talk about.
Yeah, no question.
How you doing, Zach?
Doing great.
Excited for the show.
It looks like you're praying.
Like, I'm praying?
Yeah.
You got the hands crossed.
You're saying, Grace, what's going on?
This is not my prayer.
So, yeah, so anyways, I'm doing well.
I'm excited for this show, excited for this week, excited for this game.
Yeah, much to discuss.
All right.
Now, we already have a super chat from Claire, who's popping in to say,
Bo and Fran, Peckness, Migrate, Chicago, Mulan, Rouge, and Greece.
She left me out of that one.
Yeah, she did.
She knows that you're a musical hater.
I've never been to Mulan Rouge or Greece, so I would say Chicago.
Great fruit sitting.
That's a good one.
Was that not a good line?
For you, that's not that bad.
For me, okay.
I'm going, I'm going to go ahead and nest Greece.
Yeah.
Packed Mulan Rouge and migrate Chicago.
Yeah, I think I would go the same way.
Chicago's got a couple bangers, but it's not my favorite.
and you have to nest grease.
You got a nest grease.
I've seen Greece the movie with John Travolta, right?
Yeah, that's also a musical.
Yes.
Okay.
Have you seen other movies with John Travolta?
Yeah, frequency.
Frequency.
That's the first one.
Isn't that Dennis Quaid?
Where he learned Portuguese?
I think of frequency.
I'm sorry.
It's a phenomenon.
Phenomenon.
Sorry about that.
Yeah, frequency is a phenomenon with Dennis Quaid.
Okay.
where he learned Portuguese.
No, you just said again.
Sorry, I just put up seven stories of stairs.
I finished an interview 20 minutes ago.
I came here 95, got, and then I came up to seven flight of stairs.
So still catching my breath.
What hospital was Price Youngborn at?
Lanknell.
Okay.
Here you go.
All right, here you go.
Now, we also know that you are better prepared for that run up the flight of stairs that you might have been a week ago, Zach,
because we have forgotten to get to this.
but for the sickos, it's an exciting time of the year.
Zach basketball is back.
You had the season debut on Monday.
We did, yes.
We lost, but we heard you made a nifty little play.
You got a shot off, faked out a tall man.
Yeah, I scored a basket.
It was late in the game.
Zach, Zach, no, it was late in the game.
I don't think they got, it was like this guy was good, 6-7 center.
and what's he doing guarding you he wasn't he was guarding the rim oh okay i oh you penetrated
yeah okay i penetrated it stopped and i don't need to get into it i i uh you had already did
you had penetrated yeah no i it was late in the game game was out of hand i don't think he
won the foul me so but you made a nifty little move it was an easy bucket i missed a shot earlier
in the game that um i'm still lamenting because that one was more uh
Consequential. Like it was at that point, I think it was an eight-point game with six to go.
Okay.
And I'm lefty and I got the pass on a fast break on my on the right side.
Okay.
And do you trust the right or yeah?
I didn't trust the right.
And so.
And then what got blocked?
It didn't work out.
No, I missed it.
Missed the lap.
Did you go with the right or you went?
Well, that's the thing.
I was kind of like in between.
You were in between.
Yeah, in between.
And it just didn't.
I was a little too high on the glass.
And when you miss a leg.
Which one did you go for?
which one did I
did you end up going with the right
I went for the left
yeah but not like in a smooth way
more like you know
you know yeah yeah it's like
you had it's like twisted your body
exactly so
if I had just got you can just go reverse there
I should I could have done that
trust the just the hand that you want but do it
you know still use the rent to protect
our team
it's about the team the team the team the team
it's a both shamblecker says
and we
lost but I
We have some promise this year.
We have upside.
Okay.
It's a new team, new squad.
It's a new squad this year.
One holdover, good player held over, Alex.
But good team.
Captain Aaron is, he drafted, he drafted well, except for me.
But everyone else.
And more importantly, we got hired on the team, which we need because of me.
The most important things that you have.
Well, you need someone to compensate for me.
You need the average out.
And then we'll see about scoring.
We didn't have enough scoring this past game, but I see some upside.
If you make a shot on the guy at the 6-7 and he tries to, like, you know, talk back to you?
Talk trash to you at all?
Do you throw the life expectancy in his face?
That's a good lie.
No, I don't actually talk trash on the court.
I'm not good enough to talk trash on the court.
You're telling them me now, but I'm going to be standing over your grave one day.
my friend.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I don't talk trash on the court.
What I,
I get, like, annoyed when someone, like, tries talking trash or complaining about me because
I'm like, come on, you know, you know, I'm pick on someone your own size, right?
Yeah, he must feel real good at picking on the shortest guy on the court, right?
Yeah.
So that's what I always think, like, when someone tries guarding me full court in this game,
I'm like, come on.
Like, you're really, like, you're trying to prove a point here, you know, so.
Okay.
Yeah.
All right, Fran.
ZB.
Super chat for media sandwich.
She says,
maybe paint nails like McCain to play better.
Jared McCain.
I would love to play like Jared McCain.
I got nothing against Jared McCain,
painting nails and everything.
I have a five-year-old daughter.
I imagine that maybe, you know,
she'll paint nails one day,
but what?
This is your defense of Jared McCain?
Is that you have a five-year-old daughter?
No, I'm saying.
I'm saying, I don't want to say, like, I'll never have my nails painted.
And then one day when I'm babysitting Sloan, or not babysitting my daughter.
If I'm watching Sloan, this is really gone off the rails.
We should do every show where Zach has to run up seven flights of stairs right before.
Come on.
I did so much Panthers prep here.
Let's get rolling with this, okay?
One day I'm going to, one day I'll have to babysit my daughter at some point.
It's not what I meant at all.
You know, that's not one.
Once the book events are done.
All right.
Carolina Panthers, Fran.
Let's start with the Panthers offense.
We'll leave Canales to the side for now.
For now.
We've been off the rails enough.
Bryce Young of late.
Bryce Young has made 23 starts in his NFL career, his young NFL career, Fran.
Three of the four best games that he's played by EPA per dropback over the last four games for the Panthers.
Yep.
The fourth game, that other game, they won.
They beat the giant.
So explain to me why it is that Bryce Young over the past four games
and this Panthers offense over the past four games has been different than the Panthers
the first half of the season.
If you just look at their EPA per drive numbers as a team, the last four weeks they're
playing to the equivalent of like the 10th or 11th best team in the league.
First eight weeks, 31st or 32nd, if you were to put that over the course of a full season.
Sure.
What has changed?
I would say, number one, with Bryce Young,
you're seeing him play a lot looser, a lot more confident, you know, early on in the season,
watching those first couple starts.
And I wanted to watch them, I watched them the days after they happened just because I was
interested to see how he would look in year two under Dave Canales.
I'm actually a pretty big fan of what Canales has done schematically, not just this year,
but going back to last year in Tampa Bay.
What I would say with Bryce Young in the first couple games of the season before he got benched,
it would be like if you are a left-handed shooter and you catch a, you get a pass in the
and the,
you get a breakaway shot of the layup with your right hand
and you're not quite sure what you want to do
and you slow up a little bit and you go awkward at the rim.
That's kind of how Bryce Young played the first couple games
where you just see he's playing so fast mentally
that it kind of slowed him down to the point where he just,
he just never looked comfortable.
I think right now what you're seeing,
he's playing a lot more loose.
You're seeing him, it's small things,
but you're seeing him like celebrate after plays.
You're a guy that's playing with a lot more confidence.
and that's shown up as a runner.
He's made a lot of successful scrambles over the last couple of weeks,
but even as a thrower,
I mean,
he threw a great pass to put them ahead last week
where he stepped up and he's celebrating touchdown to Adam feeling like before the ball's caught, right?
Like,
blowing a lot less.
Yeah,
he's just playing a lot looser.
Now,
I mean,
the numbers kind of show as well that he's handling pressure at a much higher rate.
Let me just pull this up really quickly,
just because I think it really kind of looks at some of the things that he's doing well.
First of all,
He's doing a great job when he's pressured at not getting sacked.
Over the course of the last few weeks, since week 8,
his pressure of sack ratio is 11.3%.
That's one of the better numbers in football.
The first couple weeks, it was 28.6%.
So you're talking like way more cut it in half.
He's always felt like he needs to push the limits in terms of throwing into tight windows.
He takes a lot of risks as a passer.
Now, the regression has kind of bounced back for him a little bit,
where the success rate throwing into those tight windows early in the season,
was really poor the last few weeks.
It's kind of come back for him a little bit.
He will take some chances.
He will put some throws in harm's way.
But I think when you look at him,
he's just playing with a lot more confidence right now,
which when you see what he was in the first couple weeks,
it's good to say.
And listen, I mean, talent-wise,
there's not a lot to work with.
Like, you know, you might like Xavier Lee get.
You know, Adam Thieland is a pro, pros, pro.
Yep.
Right?
The offensive line is just okay.
Right?
So for them to be playing at the level
they're playing over the past four weeks is like they're they're overachieving right yeah i think when
you look at the the collection of talent overall on both sides of the ball i mean this this roster's in dire
straits i mean they they did not do a great job of trying to rebuild this on the fly uh obviously when
they went to make the move up for bryce young what no they didn't do a good job rebuilding on the fly
so let's send it over to our our senior dan morgan hating correspondent sack burman to really bury them
But honestly, it's not even just because Dan Morgan just got hired this cycle.
This goes back a few different years.
Scott Fitterer.
Yeah, I mean, they got rid of.
What?
What's so funny?
I don't know what's so funny.
Well, Fitterer, yes.
I mean, look, they pronounced it correctly, didn't I?
You did, yes.
It's actually fighterer.
Is it?
No.
When you look at, I mean, the talent that they jettisoned, I mean, they get rid of DJ more,
they get rid of Christian McCaffrey, they let Frankie Louvue go, they get rid of Brian Burns.
I mean, they've lost really good players on both sides of the football, and they have not done a
good enough job at replacing. Their drafts over the last couple of years have not been fruitful
for them, and it shows in the middle of that roster.
I was watching some Panther stuff recently, and one player who jumped out to be a bit was
Chetavion Sanders, the tight end. He's been hurt the past two weeks or past a week and a half.
He had that neck injury. I'm curious to see if he's, if he's,
He's back, but he's their fourth round pick.
And the player we talked about a lot because if they, if the Eagles, when we were talking about
the Eagles need another weapon on offense, that third round pick, which they used on Jalix Hunt,
that could have been Jatioz-Han.
Yeah, so he's someone to watch now.
I will say Tommy Trembal played well this past week, but in the weeks before that, Jatavion
Sanders gave them some juice at tight end.
Yeah.
Sanders is a nice athlete.
He's not a game-breaking type of player.
I mean, and the test scores showed that at the combine this year.
but I think when you watch him on film,
the big thing,
he's awesome with the ball in his hands.
He's just not a refined route runner right now.
They have to do a lot to try and scheme him up.
So it's a lot of,
all right,
let's put him on a linear route path,
a shallow cross,
a deep overrout,
some kind of a goal ball or a throwback,
and we're just going to get him the ball in space
and just let him go to work.
But I think when you're talking about a guy
that can create separation,
I think I prefer tremble.
I think when you look at Sanders,
not a great blocker right now.
So he's a little bit of a one-dimensional player.
That's why he fell to the fourth round.
I mean,
there was a lot of buzz that he was going to go like round two, you know, when you got to last spring.
I think he fell just because he's not a nuanced player and he's not an overly physical player.
So, you know, he's a little bit one-dimensional in that way.
But I do think they missed him this past week because they just don't have a ton of viable pass catchers in that offense.
Bo, you mentioned, I mean, Xavier Leggett is honestly kind of similar to Trimble in terms,
but just the wide receiver version.
I mean, he's a bigger body, 6-1, almost 230 pounds, straight-line athlete, height-weight speed type of threat.
But very unrefined as a route runner.
he's got frustrating drops.
I mean, the vision for him, they were, you know,
Canalis was in Seattle when they drafted D.K. Metcalfe and the thought there was,
okay, maybe we'll kind of put him on the same developmental curve.
But, you know, he's still coming along.
He's leading their team in targets right now, but not a guy I think you would look at
as somebody that's how you have to game plan to try and stop Xavier League it.
Adam Thielen makes some great catches, really good route runner, just does not have any juice
left in those legs.
David Moore is the other is like kind of their third receiver right now.
more like David less, am I right?
Well, I mean, I actually, I've always kind of felt that David Moore was a little bit underrated.
But I think when you look at, you know, just overall, like he's going to do, he's going to put some balls on the ground.
He can create some separation, but not a guy that's going to be a game breaker with a ball in his hands.
Jalen Coker is an undrafted free agent, a wide receiver out of Holy Cross that, you know, he's kind of in the theme.
A little interesting.
Yeah, he's not a good athlete, but he can separate.
He's been reliable at the catch point.
He can be that, you know, possession receiver underneath for them.
So they're kind of mix and match from a past game standpoint.
But at the end of the day, like Bryce Young does not have much to work with.
So as we think about, you know, Vic Fangio's job this week, putting this game plan together,
is it like is it pretty like meat and potatoes?
Like we don't need to worry about too much.
We can just sort of play this straight up.
Yeah, I think so.
I think when you look at Bryce Young, I mean, they are being blitzed at the highest rate in the league right now.
My guess is the Eagles won't feel the need to do that.
They've been one of the lower volume blitzers.
the Pli's in teams, especially because Young has gotten better against pressure and Young has gotten better against the Blitz. He did a really good job against Steve Spagnolo's Blitz package in week 12. So I think when you look at what Fangio will try and do in this game, my guess is it will probably try and do similar to what they did with Jaden Daniels, where it's okay, we're going to go back. We're going to play coverage. We're going to be really tight with, you know, not allowing a lot of air for these receivers to run through. And we're going to try and make him beat us with his arm. That would be my guess and how they'll try and approach Bryce Young in this game.
Now, the Panthers went into this offseason thinking they, or not thinking, they had a lot of money to spend.
Yep.
And their big point of emphasis was the offensive line, in particular the interior offensive line.
Is this a pro-level O line?
I think so.
I think when you look at what they sign Robert Hunt and free agency, the right guard, big physical.
He goes 6-6, 323 pounds.
He's a big physical maller, probably better run blocker than pass protector, but not a liability in pass pro at all.
He's done a nice job this year.
Damien Lewis is the starting left guard.
They brought him in Banda Brothers.
Yeah.
Well, I don't know if he was actually in Bandoned Brothers, but
Damien Lewis.
Yeah, he's Homeland.
And Abandoned Brothers.
And what's the?
I really liked Homeland.
Good show.
Home land's good.
Home land's good.
He was the movie.
The Billions.
He's in billions, too, right?
Yes.
That's the big one.
Another good show.
So, Damien Lewis.
Is that similar kind of approval?
Similar kind of build as Robert Hunt, I would say,
the Hunt's probably a better player.
They had Austin Corbett as the starting center.
They've had to mix and match to do some injuries up front.
But Iki Akwana, who's the left tackle,
he's been a liability in Passpro.
A little bit better in Passpro this year than what he was a year ago,
but still not where I think that they want him to be.
I mean, he was the number six pick in the draft.
Yeah, I missed on that one.
I liked him.
I thought he'd be better than he's been.
Taylor Moten is probably their most consistent pass protector at right tackle.
He's been in the league now for almost eight years.
So I think when you look at that group,
it is a getable group.
Jeline Carter is not worried about.
that group. I don't think so. Yeah, I think that especially when you look at the interior,
he should be able to eat up their center, Cade Mays. And I think against Hunt, you're probably
looking more to win with quickness as opposed to power against him just because that's his strength.
And then in the back end, you know, we talked about these receivers. You know, they're not going to be
making Quinyon Mitchell and Slay at these back shaking their boots. But what kind of like route
combinations are we typically going to see from a Dave Canales offense? Yeah, it's going to be a lot of
a lot of under center play action. He's all about balance. And so he, he's, he's, he's all about balance. And so
he wants to be able to run the football.
The big thing with him is that they don't work.
So keep your mind out of the gutter.
My mind?
I see him smirking over there.
He wants the quarterback to be the point guard and the distributor of this past game.
And so he wants to be able to spread the ball around.
That's how he probably, I remember going back and listening to his opening presser
when he was hired as Tampa Bay's offensive coordinator two springs ago.
And that was what he wanted to harp on immediately was, hey, you know what?
This is going to be very quarterback friendly.
and he echoed that when he was hired in Carolina.
And so it's going to be play action.
The ball's going to come out fast.
If it's not play action, expect plenty of Bryce Young under center.
They'll try and move the pocket.
And honestly, he'll be given the green light to take off and scramble.
We've seen that a lot from Young over the last couple of weeks.
The big part of their offense is the backfield.
Yes.
Yeah.
So Chuba Hubbard, it just got a big contract extension a couple of weeks ago.
Which made Zach furious.
I mean, honestly, I don't really get it either.
Hubbard has been a nice player.
He's explosive slasher.
He's been the main piece of that offense, honestly, as the past game has kind of
flustered, been flustered throughout the course of the year.
I think that most of his big runs have been perimeter type of plays where you're relying
on his burst to get to the outside.
And they've got the offensive lineman to create some space for him.
But, I mean, he ran for 43 yards last week.
And it was, yeah, I want to make sure I have this number right.
He ran for 43 yards last week and 39 of them came after.
contact.
Insane.
That's not the kind of back he is.
He's not a, I'm going to fight through contact and get home.
That's just kind of the state of that, the perimeter blocking there with that group.
So I think when you look at at this offense, you want to be able to set strong edges.
Don't let Hubbard get on outside in the perimeter.
If you're able to contain Bryce Young, you latch on these receivers.
You usually can have success that way against this offense.
Yeah.
I mean, Trubal Hubbard's a nice.
story but I don't think I don't think anybody's worried about Chuba Hubbard right no I mean and look
it's he got Jonathan Brooks well he got he had the ACL late last year or I think we're coming up on
about a year since he towards ACL or just passed it at Texas he was a second round pick this year for
the Panthers and the thought was all right he's going to come back midseason we'll work him in
and he'll be kind of the full-time guy the feature guy and it was a little bit slower getting back
than people thought he just worked his way in the lineup these last couple of weeks the list
past one was his most, he got, where he got the most action against Tampa Bay, was a checkdown
option, had a handful of carries, but obviously they did not have much success on the ground
against Todd Bowles unit. And so we just haven't seen a ton from Brooks, but I was a big fan of
his coming out this spring. And so he certainly has talent. I just don't know if the current
ecosystem is built right now for him to be that type of player for him. What did you like about
him? He's got the ability to win a lot of different ways. I mean, he kind of reminded me a little
bit of Naji Harris in terms of like the build and the skill set.
And Naji was a first round pick.
I thought Brooks had first round talent coming out.
He's not a like explosive big playback, but he's got the ability to bust off some chunk
plays just because of his ability to force mistackles.
He can contribute in the past game both as a blocker and as a pass catcher.
I thought the vision was good.
I mean, he was just a really well-rounded player.
What are you smiling at?
Franz Insight.
This is outstanding.
It's the second time in a second episode in a row where you are you are smirking.
as I'm talking.
You ask him what he's smiling at.
He said, it's a friend.
It's a friend's analysis.
So now I'm getting self-conscious about the whole thing.
Nonverbal, like, the way you listen, your body language when you listen is important.
So I wasn't smirking.
I was smiling.
This is good stuff here.
I also like Jonathan Brooks coming out of Texas, too.
Good player.
Okay.
He was a good player.
I've done enough shows with you to know when you're active listening and when you're
suppressing something from a smile.
What did Graham Foley say in the chat this time?
I haven't actually, I haven't minded the chat so far.
After the first 10 minutes of the show, I said, you know what?
I need to not look at the chat today.
That's like the show did not start off well.
So I didn't want the chat.
The show started off?
Perfectly.
For your purposes, not for mine.
Why?
What's wrong?
With the first 10 minutes?
That was not the 10 minutes I envisioned when I came over here.
Okay.
But let's keep rolling.
All right, we'll keep rolling right after this word from our sponsors.
Help protect yourself from pneumonia.
Adults age 50 or older are now eligible for the vaccine.
It used to be 65 and up, and the CDC lowered the age recommendation to 50.
Very recently, that means that millions of people are now eligible to get their pneumonia vaccine.
Millions of people get pneumonia every year, according to the CDC.
pneumonia, of course, a respiratory illness, and fall and winter are a time when germs that cause respiratory disease typically spread more in the community.
So now is the time to get vaccinated and help yourself stay healthy.
You don't want to miss holiday gatherings because you're coughing up a lung.
What are we doing?
Come on.
Plus, you're doing your part for the community.
Some people who get pneumonia have mild symptoms, but others experience serious complications.
The vaccine is one of the best ways to help keep yourself healthy.
it's usually no cost with insurance.
Getting vaccinated is easy.

One final thing to add on the Panthers offense.
Very heavy 11 personnel.
Yep.
Sixth most in the league, 74% of the time.
So I don't think we will see the Eagles stretched from a.
you know, base standpoint. We'll look at to sort of play their normal nickel.
Yeah, I think it'll be a big Cooper regime game in terms of like snap count volume.
I think, yeah, it'll be a nickel most of the time.
All right, Zach, let's reset here and tell us what's been going on at the Novacare complex this week.
I'm glad you brought that up. They are practicing right now as we speak here in studio.
They're indoors and Devante Smith is practicing for the second consecutive day.
Now, he was a, they had a walk through yesterday and they were out of
side at the beginning. I imagine doing for some individual type stuff and they went inside for the
walkthrough. Had they had a full practice, Devante Smith would have been a full participant.
So all indications are that Devante's going to play. Darius Slay is progressing. I think
the Britain Covey and Johnny Wilson are out there now. Yesterday they had more rest related
injuries or I shouldn't say injuries, but like DNPs. As far as the DMPs, they'll read Blankenship
is still recovering from the concussion.
He's in the concussion protocol.
At practice yesterday, he was doing light jogging on the side.
So I haven't seen the full updates yet today.
We'll get more on where he is.
If he's not out there, you'll see Tristan McCollum.
Britton, Dallas Goddard, we're not expecting Goddard to play.
And Cindy Brown is nursing a knee injury.
We'll see what happens there.
When I said rest, Sequin Barkley, Janwin Carter,
and Josh Sweat would have been limited yesterday.
I wouldn't be worried about any of them.
I expect them all to play on Sunday.
And as we talked on Tuesday, you were correct that the Eagles did make the move to make it C.J. Usama as the extra tight end.
Yes. Now, I'm curious to see if they make a move to bring a third to bring E.J. Jenkins onto the other thing they could do, since we spoke, they added Kahari Blosseng game.
I hope I'm pronouncing that correctly. He's a fullback, but can be your extra tight, your third tight end if you wanted him to be, you know.
and he's a good special teams player came out, you know, was running back at Vanderbilt.
So he's someone who, if they wanted to elevate someone to kind of be in that blocking role,
the third blocking role, they could potentially.
I imagine they're going to elevate him to play this week.
That's what I'm saying because they're not, they can elevate the only way Jenkins can be on the 53 is if they sign him.
I'm sorry, the only way Jenkins can play is if they sign him to the 53.
They had no other tight ends on the practice squad.
What they could do is if Johnny Wilson plays,
they could make him a pseudo third tight end.
They could go with Jack Dresco as a pseudo,
you know, sixth offensive line with third tight end.
But it would make sense for you to at least see if Blossom game could be that.
I also just think from the fullback standpoint,
I mean, it's only probably two, three snaps a game,
but they were using, they used Kakatera there for the one snap last week.
But if Kakatera is now your number one tight end,
they're not going to put him there.
So I think they're going to have Blossie.
If it's not this week, I think it will be the next week.
Yeah.
I agree. I think that honestly, when we saw them go with six offensive line at the end of the game,
I think that was the substitute for being able to play 13 person. And also the Ben Van
Samirn package of the 22 personnel. They just want to have something when they get into that
four minute drill to where, all right, this is our run look. Me personally, I mean, it was a few weeks
ago and I said, like, I feel like they should just start doing the 60 line stuff. I feel like that's
what they should probably lean into. And who knows? It's like if Blossom game doesn't look great
in practice and that's, they might say like, all right, let's lean into that more often.
but yeah we'll see for what it's where
Blasen game has more
career receptions than career carries
hmm okay
wasn't that what you would expect
would you expect the fullback to have more career receptions I suppose so
okay I'm just saying he could be used in that
pseudo tight end rule he's on the will Shipley plan
yeah
okay I don't even know what about from locker room yesterday
or yeah
xeriann's press conference what what else have you
ascertained
uh
Bill and Hertz as well.
Yeah,
Jellin Hurts,
interestingly,
he's spoken to Bryce Young's parents,
but he's never spoken to Bryce Young.
Huh.
Yeah, he's looking for,
he follows Bryce Young.
He says,
surprising.
Yeah,
he says he spent time with his parents.
He hasn't spent time with Bryce.
So why?
That's a good question.
I don't know.
I don't know if it was something with agents,
something with recruiting.
I don't know,
but yeah,
he's.
Well,
Bryce,
of course,
was born in Philadelphia.
So maybe it was just they were it was touring where he was born.
Oh, it depends how technical you want to be because he was born a little bit outside Philadelphia.
Okay.
It says Philadelphia on his birth certificate, but he was actually born.
Of course, he was born in Winwood.
I actually think that's Delaware County.
Could it?
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
I believe that's on the other side.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I could be wrong, but I believe he's on the Delco side at Lankanoe Hospital.
But yeah, technically, this was all in a great Mike Jensen story.
a few years ago, by the way. Shout out to Mike Jensen,
outstanding reporter and writer in person.
And so, as I was saying,
Jalen Hertz and Bryce Young have not actually met in person,
so they're looking forward to that.
Jalen, he spoke about
the limiting of the interceptions.
I asked him about playing in cold weather because
he famously said Green Bay was the first time he saw snow
and that Chicago game a few years ago was the coldest he's ever been.
He says by this point in his career, he's good. He said,
and don't take like his discomfort for like dissatisfaction or something of that nature.
You know, he was basically saying like he, it's not an issue for him to play in the cold.
And he's not unhappy that he's playing in the cold.
As far as, it was interesting hearing Sequin speak, you were there.
I listened back to it.
Sequin was saying, number one, that he feels as good as you can feel in week 14.
He talked about the things that he's that he, he, he, he, he, he,
trust what the training staff has.
He says the things he's doing,
that he's getting the Sunday feeling, you know, in good shape.
So we'll see if that continues.
He had an interesting quote about Jalen Hertz.
I know that we don't get into the Jalen Hertz is a winner narrative on the show as much,
but he said Jalen Hertz is it.
And he can't define it, but you know it when you see it.
And he said there's a reason why he wanted Alabama.
and there's a reason why he wanted Oklahoma.
He played with awfully good players at Alabama and Oklahoma, too.
But Jalen Hertz has, objectively, he has had a lot of, he wins a lot.
And Seguan Barclay spoke about this intangible characteristic that he has.
He said he was speaking to his family about that recently.
Jalen Hertz, by the way, last Thanksgiving, so last week, Thanksgiving,
he went the job, which I think,
besides being a real nice thing to do, especially on Thanksgiving,
you know, there's people, there's young kids who are separated from their families
or the night home for Thanksgiving and Jaywin paid a visit.
You know, Nick made a point of mentioning just like how busy, you know,
how everyone was staying focused and they don't have a lot of free time.
And Jaywin's very particular about how he allocates his time.
So I thought that was nice that he did that.
But, you know, I spoke to Jaywin about the perspective that he gains from visits like that.
And he said there's a family there that he's gotten the notes.
and he's actually going to host them at the game this weekend.
So football analysis aside, I think that's really cool.
You know, we spoke the other day, you know, things were thankful for,
and like healthy children is as high on that list as you can get.
And so it's touching when, you know, when you do something like that.
Meanwhile, the Eagles have announced their nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year.
Yes, Brandon Graham, second time in three years.
that he gets nominated.
Brandon has done a lot in the community.
He is, as I saw Jeffrey Lurie speak,
and I think Jeffrey Lurie's been watching the show.
Did you hear how he described him?
Yes.
He said, on this team, we want energy givers.
On championship teams, there are more energy givers and energy takers.
Yes, and I think that all I say,
and I strongly feel, I tell my son this,
you want to go into a room
you don't want to drain the energy
you want to bring the energy
right and
you know people out there
who drain energy from the room
and he brings energy to the room
so Brandon's always like that
it's very true
absolutely now how does it work with the
the repeat nomination this is because
they want him to win the NFL award right
yeah I mean they want him to win
they feel that he's the best candidate
you know there's there's not really
it's not like the
Ed Block Courage Award it's
No.
You're putting up who you think is your best chance to win.
Exactly.
It's, as Jeffrey says, it's the most prestigious award you can win.
I don't know if it's, but it is a big deal.
You know, that you wear the patch on the jersey.
Yeah, this is a very like, remember the first time I heard that, like, like Roger had passed us down to the announcers.
Like, the most prestigious award in football.
Yeah.
Okay.
And I've heard, I've heard anecdotally like, like someone being described to me as this guy,
This guy's like a Walter Payton Man of the Year type, you know.
Like, you want this guy in your locker room.
He's a Walter Payton Man of the Year type guy.
Brandon Graham, I'm not going to poke holes in this.
I mean, you could say there's like, it's unimaginative to nominate a guy twice in three years,
but they clearly want him to win.
And also, yeah, I'm not going to bang on them for nominee BG of all people.
He certainly certainly deserves.
Exactly.
At least consideration.
Sure.
the chat has a theory
that's Matt Illari
that Chase Daniel
Plainview has been
it's actually Jeffrey
that's how he's donating $5.00
I like that.
Outstanding
By the way
there is a Chase Daniel
reference in my book
from Jeffrey Lurie
where
all first full circle
yeah where he
he was talking about
them adding Nick Foles
and like really what it
that
Nick when Jeffrey
let Nick goes
and I've abandoned my boy.
What's that?
I'm bringing the Daniel Plainview in.
Oh, okay.
Well, no, he said, like, we had to eat.
Thank you, Julia.
Yeah, we'd eat James' money.
You know, like, you know, you would eat that money,
and you only do that if you really believe.
Or you're really hungry.
If you really, this is the thing.
If I said a corny joke like that,
it would be the, first off, there would be no sell.
It would halt the show.
This is what you were doing.
You look at the camera and you'd say,
okay, you take it from here.
So, yeah.
Who on the Eagles drains energy?
Tom Donahim.
That's a good answer.
Not with Eagles anymore.
That's a super chat from Shay.
Shout out to Shay.
Our senior Bean correspondent.
I see Matt H says Zeeb doesn't know who Daniel Plainview is.
I don't know who Daniel Plainview is.
Am I supposed to...
That's okay.
Am I supposed to know Daniel?
That's okay.
That's Daniel Day Lewis's character and they will be blood.
Okay.
Have you ever seen it?
I haven't seen it.
I've heard of it.
I haven't seen it.
That's a great one.
I once read a great article about Daniel Day Lewis and the method acting.
Very impressive.
He was on the-
Daniel-Dail-Lewis finally searching for that.
Has finally gotten the validation he's been searching for her for so long.
No, it was...
All that's left for was the Walter Payton all the year.
I asked Sequin yesterday about the thing that we've talked about,
is he...
Does he feel like he's a better running back this year?
In addition to, like, all the cast of characters that he has
and the offensive line for him?
And he said, yes, he does think so.
And he gave Jamal Singleton a lot of credit for that.
There go.
That he is sort of...
He didn't want to get into too many specifics,
but there are, like, a lot of little things where...
he is better equipped this year because of Jamel Singleton.
I wasn't sure who asked him.
Somebody asked Nick about this recently, and Nick didn't give,
right, bite on it at all.
But that's not the kind of thing that Nick would.
That's true, but it's interesting to hear Sycamant say that.
Because I mean, I've said it numerous times this year.
He's running better than he's ever running for.
Also, Lane Johnson, interesting speaking to him,
talking about the amount of work that they're doing behind this,
like the, the, not behind the scenes,
but the intensity of practice this year.
year. But also, we spoke on the show how he was saying Roquant Smith called out plays. And I was asking
him who has, who's done that, who he's played against. And so he said, well, Sean Lee.
Sean Lee was one. Sean Lee was one. He said Thomas Davis did it. Okay. Okay. Said Demario Davis
did it. So those were, those were two other names that he mentioned.
I see here from Shade. He's Bean Girls Plus One for a grad school,
graduation reception.
Is that friendly?
I mean, Shea, you've got to figure this out yourself.
You're the plus one, my man.
Like, let's go.
Not necessarily related, but
let that be up to Shea.
I have been doing some digging on the
Cooper de Gene celebration.
Okay. Okay.
Not necessarily related.
Little inside, you know, reporting.
I'm not ready to report this yet.
I cannot.
This is right up your alley.
I cannot go on the record.
but I do have a supposition that it is not 8 mile related.
It is a little bit more fallatio related.
You're really leaving a lot on the imagination.
It's just that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's my reporting instinct.
So I just want to be clear.
I think that's I'm not willing to go on the record.
So you're not going to do that you're not going to be doing the celebration of the show anytime soon?
I mean I'm still willing to do it.
Yeah.
So I think this is a little vindication for me.
Yeah, I agree.
If I may say so.
Why?
Because I literally said in the post game, I don't want to do that and have it become like a meme among our viewers.
We're just joined your friends.
If this is any type of sinister intent or.
But who says that's sinister?
Or something that I don't want.
You didn't know what it was.
I didn't know what it was.
So the person in the chat said who I wasn't being fun, I want to say, I'm being careful
here. You don't want... Yeah, I think intimate dome is the right.
Clayfath. Well, not, Cliff.
Yeah, you don't want something.
You don't want skeletons in the closet.
Put it that way.
Yeah, but I don't think that would have been skeletons in the closet.
You were joining with your friends.
It was related to a moment in time.
I think that that's okay.
I think you were right. Thank you. Appreciate it,
friend. You're not allowed to say that
on the show, by the way. That should have been in the handbook.
You're not allowed to say I'm right about it.
I already said you were right about CJ Usama.
Fair, okay, fair enough.
All right, let's take one more break,
and then we're going to get back with the Panthers defense,
which is a little bit of Garbonzo Beans.
Really selling it there.
I'm not saying the conversation's going to be Garbozo Beans,
which is in their defense is Garbozo Beans.
You know what's not Garbozo Beans?

What time is it?
It's game time.
You know, on this day, in 1975,
the Montreal Canadians hosted the Soviet ice hockey team
and played to a 3-3 tie.
And I imagine there were a lot of people watching that game,
hanging out, having a good time,
drinking, an ice cold, miller light.
and at that time they were wondering what is it about that's so great about miller light is it that it tastes great or is that it's less filling they're having that debate in 1975 we're having that debate now in 2024 a lot's changed over the year one thing that hasn't is the great taste in miller light another thing that hasn't is that it's less filling so what is the best thing about the original light beer it you can talk about there's the great taste there's the fact that it has you
associated with good times maybe have a regrettable podcast episode and you want to kind of
uh think you know you just just want to enjoy the yeah yeah throw them back a great a great
miler light not while you're babysitting though yeah not definitely not when you're babysitting
uh i don't do that when when i'm watching my kids not watching my kids um miller light keeps it simple
undebatable quality great taste only 96 calories it's the beer that strips away everything you don't
need and it holds on to what matters most of light beer.
That tastes like beer.
Less filling in only 96 calories.
The original light beer since 1975.
You don't need to choose what's best.
Miller Light has great taste and is less
filling. Tastes like Miller Time

than premium regular fear.
All right.
We got some of them coming up in just a little bit.
But before we get there, let's talk about the Eagles offense against the Panthers defense.
Now, as Zach tells us, good chance that Devonte Smith is back this week as they look to play
without Dallas Goddard, but they're going up against a Panthers defense that is 31st in D.
Yeah, please go through all these numbers.
Well, take us through because they're stinky, stanky.
Yeah, 30 second in points per game, 31st, an EPA per play.
30th in DVOA, 31st in series conversion rate, 31st and touchdown drive percentage.
You go right down the list, run game, past game.
It's been a bad group for the large majority of the season.
This group, more so than the offense, is it at a talent deficit?
They just don't have a ton of juice on this side of the ball.
I would say there are three impact players, probably the two edge rushers,
Chedavian Clowny and DJ Wanham, and then Jacey Horn at corner.
Outside of that, it's been pretty rough sledding by this entire game.
Jack's boy, Derek Brown.
Out for the year.
Derek Brown out for the year.
In week one, you lose him on top of the guys that you lost in the offseason,
and it's been really rough.
I mean, Clownie, Clownie's a nice piece.
He had some good moments last year for Baltimore, but as the guy, which that's what he
was for the majority of this season, not ideal.
I will say, DJ Wanham, he, like, dislocated his hip or something last year in
Minnesota.
He was a really bad injury, so just came off Pup like three or four weeks ago.
He's giving them some juice.
He's their best player up front.
I think he's the guy.
He'll be getting most of his reps over Jordan Milata.
Wanam is 6'5-258.
So he's built like Josh Sweat.
He's had some really nice rushes so far.
He's already, I mean, he's only played like four games.
I think he's like third in their team in pressures already.
It's like it's something.
They just, I mean, their pressure rate is by far worse than football.
They're blitzing a decent amount, especially on third down.
But I mean, the success rate where they blitz is terrible.
they're not creating pressure when they blitz.
It's not a good group.
I need to correct myself.
They're actually 30th in DVOA.
They're 31st in EPA per drive.
Correct.
And usually when you see a team that is towards the bottom in DVA,
it's like one of the two sides is carrying them.
Right.
That's not the case here.
They're 29th in past DVOA and 31st in Rush DVA.
So you can sort of get them anyway you want them.
Yeah.
Speaking of want them.
Now, keep in mind, and going back to what you said, the very top,
I mean, this team, they've won the last four games.
They have won two.
Have you seen an uptick for them on defense?
Just the fact that Watham's given a little bit of juice.
You know, and they are healthier now than what they've been.
I mean, they're still missing Shaq Thompson.
Their other veteran linebacker there.
Do you like an Evereaux?
I liked the idea of an Evereaux and he was under Vic Fangio in Denver.
Yeah, but the results have not been very good.
Now, you know, there was a bad team last year for a lot of reasons.
So maybe you could say that he's not been dealt the best hand.
But I think overall, yeah, I mean, so Everro, he was a,
a low-level assistant under Vic Fangio in San Francisco,
broke off and was doing his own thing as a position coach,
and then got hired by Fangio to be his defensive coordinator in Denver,
did good things, got hired to be the defensive coordinator
separate from Vic in Carolina the last couple of years.
And, yeah, it's so structurally, like coverage-wise,
like what they do schematically is very similar.
They don't play nearly as much press coverage.
J.C. Horn is number eight.
He's a former first-round pick, former top-10 pick out of South Carolina.
they will shadow him against opposing number one pass catchers,
even against tight ends on third down.
He did it against Travis Kelsey in the Chiefs game a couple weeks ago.
So he will travel, I would imagine, with AJ Brown in this game.
That would be my guess.
The guy who's very close to being an eagle.
Yeah.
You like coming out, right?
I didn't love him.
I liked him.
I was shocked that he went ahead of Sartan.
But I like Sertan more.
Yeah.
But my understanding is that if, let's say, it had been Horn and Devante on the board at the same time,
I think they would have gone Horn.
Okay.
Horn's been okay.
He's a nice player.
I would not put him in the tier of certainly of like Certan.
You get to like Sauce Gardner or those other guys at the top of the corner list.
But I would say he's probably the tier below.
A little bit handsy.
I think you can get separation on.
He'll draw some flags.
Mike Jackson, the other corner is a guy that I'd say like probably like a low end starter.
He's had some really good moments, especially the last few years, but more of a press corner as well.
He can also get very handsy at the top of routes.
So I think when you look at this group, you can definitely route them up and create some separation there.
Yeah, they go back to this weird team building approach that they had.
Okay.
They go out and they spend their money on linebacker and interior offensive line, right?
I mean, they paid Josie Jewel.
Didn't quite understand that move.
You talked about Corner.
They traded, they traded Dante Jackson.
Jackson for Deonti Johnson, who was in the last year's deal, and then they ended up trading
Deonté Johnson for nothing, basically.
But they didn't address their edge in a sufficient enough way.
I mean, they added Clownie, who was late too.
Yeah, kind of older.
I mean, you mentioned DJ Wanam, that was not a big ticket signing.
Same thing with A.
Sean Robinson.
So, yeah, I think this is a team that put together just a week.
year roster this off season and it's it's playing like that this year it reminds me a little bit of
what houston did the first year that nick casario went down there uh where it was okay we're just
going to go out and we're going to sign special teams players well it was like some c level and like
b level free agents and we're just going to pay those guys now the difference was Houston just gave
them all like one year contracts like all right we're just that we're just this is the team we're
going to field this year i was interested to the josie jule one was a three year they can get out
after year two um but to your point yeah like they they gave him money and
they let Louvre walk.
Exactly.
It was a little bit less money, but to your point, that was, that's a little bit surprising
for sure.
They just, they just don't have a ton of talent.
They've got a draft better.
They had a really bad run there in terms of the NFL draft.
They absolutely gave up assets to get Bryce Young.
So it's, it's tough sledding for that group.
But I did like Jordan Ford and Free Agency.
That was for full disclosure.
He was a player I touted.
And he is starting for the, for the Panthers.
I think one of the biggest mysteries of this season to me from an Eagles standpoint is, like,
We talked all offseason about how bad the Eagles were against big blitzes.
And they're still not getting big blitzed.
It's the second lowest rate in the league.
Now the Panthers don't do it a ton, but they blitz at the 11th highest rate in the league.
But they're not sending six guys at least.
I don't understand why more defenses aren't doing this against the Eagles.
Why do you think that is?
Is this like we're just going to wait for the playoffs and then they're going to start doing it?
Like, what is going on?
Yeah, I mean, it could be just a matter of who they faced.
in terms of like if that's not part of their identity.
Whereas last year, I mean, Belichick, Flores, they went, especially early on.
They fed Todd Bowles.
They face some coaches that are known for the big blitz.
It's a good question.
And also, too, I would say against the blitz early on the season, Jalen showed,
there was a much more well-developed, well, more thought-out plan against the blitz.
But they were solid against the regular blitz last year, too.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But I think the, in terms of it does look different.
Yes, that's what that's right.
That's more of what I mean is.
like the results last year or it was like all right like it's screen or
it's a bombes away yeah and whereas this year it's more like hot route site
adjust like all right this is a more developed plan in terms of being able to
defend against the blitz okay I do think from a like a Siriani motivation
standpoint it's it's kind of nice that the Panthers are playing well of late
yeah you know you don't it's not like you have to worry about getting up for this
game because you can show on tape the last four weeks they've been playing good
competitive football two wins and two loss
on walk-off field goals for this team.
One in overtime last week against the buck.
So, yeah, I mean, this team very easily could have been,
could be four in over the last four games.
And it's against the Chiefs.
You know, you're playing good teams there.
The Chiefs in the books.
And the Bucks are the, who beat the Eagles Hanley.
All right.
Anything else on the Panthers front you want to get to?
No, nothing that I'm sure we'll hit on a few things as we go through Super
as well.
I would say, yeah, I think probably covered basically everything there with the Panthers.
We didn't talk about it,
the guy who's on a thumbnail.
It's true.
A homecoming.
Although I don't know if he travels, yeah.
By the way, Zach, are we going to get questions about the Charles Harris Revenge
game here?
Chuck.
Chuck Harris.
I apologize.
Probably so.
I don't know if Chuck Harris is hanging around in the locker room eager for people to talk.
But yeah, if I see him today in the locker room, I will ask him about seeing his old friends.
he's still
take a look
and lead them in sacks
yeah one of their leaders
in sacks and pressures
okay you know interesting
from just an eagle's connection perspective
right last year
the panthers interviewed alcalby
to be their GM
or to be involved in football operations
in some capacity
the year before that
they interviewed
or maybe it was two years before
they interviewed no it was the year before that
they interviewed kellen more
to be their head coach the year they hired
Frank Reich.
So there's a lot of familiarity, if you will, between people in the Eagles building
and some people in the Panthers building.
Yeah, my understanding is that that owner.
David Tepper, yeah.
Yeah, I know.
And he needs to be named dropped, but has sort of like wanted to try to follow Jeffrey's lead,
but I don't think that he has the patience to do it that way.
Has not shown it.
No.
At this point.
Yeah.
And look, I mean, I liked them out real higher when they made it.
It didn't work out.
I thought the dismissal of Joe Brady really set them back.
Joe Brady's turning into a really good O.C.
But that's a franchise that just one move after the other has screwed things up.
Yeah.
And it goes, you think back to Kevin O'Connell what he said recently,
which is that he feels like teams screw up quarterbacks more than quarterback screw up teams
or something of that nature.
and Bryce Young, who I admit, I liked him coming out of Alabama.
Yeah.
I really liked him his penultimate year there, second to last year there.
He, yeah, I think he's a better player than what he's been in the first year and a half.
And I think that there's just been, there were just a lot of cooks in the kitchen and sounded like last year.
Ultimately, you're responsible for your play.
He didn't play well enough.
But they abruptly fired Frank Reich.
Dave, the Dave Canals hire seemed like an odd one when they made it.
So curious to see how this materializes.
Your boy, Dan Morgan.
Yeah.
I mean, look, Dan Morgan, before he went to Carolina, you're looking at it like he was in
that Bill's front office, that Bill's front office had a lot of success.
He was in Seattle's front office.
The Seattle front office had a lot of success.
Played in the league.
Like, you know, based on resume, he was deserving of it.
I don't think he handled this offseason well.
It's nothing to do with him personally.
I actually, you know, if you just go on blind resume tests, I,
would say yeah this this makes a lot of sense like foreign player worked his way up in the scouting
department has been around some sharp people uh but he uh i don't i don't like the way he handled this
past off season uh super chat from dean who says miller light wasn't available in canada until
2015 i got to say i was trying to think of how i would lead into that ad read and i
googled on this day in uh in in in 1975 because it's
since 1975, you know?
And the first like three items were not good to bring up on the show.
And then like the fourth item was this game between the Montreal Canadians and the Russian hockey team.
And so I'm like, all right, there's a sports tie in there.
I did not delve into whether they were drinking more light at Montreal Forum in 1975.
Okay.
Let's get to Swooper.
and we start with the results from last week.
Fran, you had just one item.
There are more total fourth down attempts than Charles Harris defensive snaps.
You hit it.
Bingo bingo,
100%.
Zach, you had an eagle other than Sequin Barclay is responsible
for the game's longest play from scrimmage did not happen.
Unfortunately, that was Zay Flowers or Lamar Jackson,
not a non-Saquin eagle.
You had A.J. Brown has more receiving yards than Sequin
Barclay has rushing yards, looked good in the first half, but did not come through for you.
You had the Sixers win before the Eagles.
The Sixers, you are the only person in Philadelphia who has been happy with the Sixers season
so far because they have won you two super points.
And you had Milton Williams plays a season high in defensive snaps.
He just eeked over it, I believe, 41 over 37.
So you hit two.
I had Jalen Hertz and Seekwon Barkley rush for more touchdowns than Lamar Jackson and Derek
Henry.
That did happen.
The Eagles score a touchdown on their first offensive drive or the Eagles convert.
A two-point conversion did not happen.
A team goes for it on fourth down at or inside its own 25-yard line, not in garbage time.
Did not happen.
This episode is longer in minutes than Jalen Hertz has passing yards.
And this foible by myself, oh, I think a lesser man than me would argue that this hit
because it was extremely close.
Jalen Hertz passed for like 100,
whatever it was,
19 yards, something like that.
And the hour episode
was just under it, but I think if
you factored in the ad reads,
if you were watching it on
YouTube, it would have gone over.
So I think a lesser man might argue
for this, but I will let it pass. It was just
underneath. Ultimately, it didn't matter. The Eagles
win by more points than the number of turkeys
which this item sells. That was six.
What a hit, if not for
that last Garbonzo Bean's touchdown by the Ravens,
so it did not hit.
The Ravens get more yards after the cash
than AJ Brown has total yards receiving in the game.
That did hit.
And then Derek Henry has four or fewer runs of seven plus yards.
That did hit a win for Bowulf who jumps out to the lead.
4.83 on the season,
trailed by Fran at 4.33, half a win behind.
And Zach, bring it up the rear at 1.83.
Zach, you have three turkeys to carry over.
I have negative four.
Fran is a big spender this week's got 14 extra.
So he starts with 38.
15 extra.
What's the other?
The one I got from you in the broadcast, the watch along against the Rams.
They were not counted for in Dana's bookkeeping, but I had 15.
I put it in there for last week.
15.
I had it on my notes.
It was 15 from last week.
I put it in four last week.
Thanks for watching on TV, by the way.
everybody make sure that you continue watching on all phti.com i had this 15 of my uh my sheet i added
it in the middle of the thing last week i'm pretty sure unless unless you're unless you're
calling danese into account well so last week you had i spent 10 last week i had an extra you use 10
right and i said and i and it was in the beginning of that one then i said it correct i i teased
it on blue sky saying fran's going to try to cheat today
and I knew that it was going to come to pass.
I'm going to give it to you, but let's make a deal.
If I review the tape, and it turns out that your accounting is wrong,
you forfeit 10 turkeys.
No.
How about you forfeit two turkeys?
There should be a penalty for trying to cheat.
I'm not trying to cheat.
I'm going off my notes.
I had 25 going into last week, and I spent 10.
Last I checked, that was fit.
But I'm just saying if you're going to stand,
if you're going to pound the table for it,
if you're wrong, there should be repercussions.
Okay, I'll give you a turkey back.
Well, you give back the turkey that you didn't have
and you pay a turkey penalty.
No.
Well, you absolutely have to pay at least one turkey penalty.
We'll sing.
No.
You got to pay a penalty for trying to cheat.
I'm not trying to cheat.
I got a hat of extra turkey.
I won it fair and square during the watch-along.
Well, yeah.
I gave it to you last week.
Right.
And I held it for this week.
Okay.
If you're wrong, you pay a tricky penalty.
Okay.
It has been decided.
Okay.
I can learn from Fran.
Oh.
Yeah.
Julia.
Good work.
Oh.
Look at that.
Look at that.
Oh.
Wow.
That's fantastic.
Great work, Julia.
All right.
All right, I am first to go this week and then Fran and then Zach.
As we set it up.
Let's do it.
My first submission.
At some point in this game for either team, there will be a goal-to-go situation from beyond the 10-yard line.
A goal-to-go situation from beyond the 10-yard line.
For either team.
For either team.
And I will start the bidding at two.
Three to bow.
Three.
Three to Fran.
Three to Fran going once.
Three to Fran going twice.
I'm going to go four.
Four to bow.
I don't want to keep bidding him.
No, I'm good.
How about you?
I'm good.
Four to go once.
Go ahead.
You got four.
And twice.
Sold.
You had 20 coming in.
Whoa.
Whoa.
Joey is feeling herself right.
Wow.
Wow.
All right.
for the stage.
Wow.
I love it,
Joey.
Nicely done.
So you have,
you started with 20.
So I'm done to 16.
Got it.
Okay.
All right.
Over to you.
Mine.
Uh,
my first one.
A former Georgia Bulldog
records at least a half sack for the Eagles.
Obviously,
that list includes Jalen Carter,
Nolan Smith,
Nicoby Dean,
Jordan Davis,
and Keely Ringo.
We will start the bidding at four.
Five.
Five to sack.
Seven.
Seven.
to bow.
Eight.
Eight to Fran.
Eat a friend going once.
I mean, Zach, you got to go for that, dude.
Doesn't have to.
A to Fran going twice.
It's too rich for me, honestly.
Come on, man.
Get in the game.
Yeah, I need items.
If I need items that are likely to hit.
But if I'm down 21, then if I'm down the 21, yeah, I, I saw last week.
It's the volume of items that hit.
It's not just getting items.
You're taking the wrong lessons.
Okay.
Wow.
She felt that strong,
you should have been.
You got turkeys?
I don't have as many turkeys as you,
and I'm not losing the game like you are.
Okay.
I think one of the drops,
so one of the sound effects should be.
To make that happen.
Yeah, that should have gone for more.
I should have bid more, too.
All right, go ahead, Zach.
J-1-Hertz passes for his most yards of the wind streak.
Oh.
Okay.
And I'll start to bidding a 1.
Do we know what?
Yeah, I'm sorry, I don't have my laptop.
I got you up here.
I think it was like 260 something.
It was the Cleveland game was the most he had.
Got it.
Right?
264.
264.
Yes.
264 is the high.
Okay.
So he would need to do at least 265.
Yep.
I'll start to bidding a 1.
3.
Oh, 3 to bow.
Man, I thought you were to stay away from that.
Fort of France.
Port-of-Fran going once.
Five.
Five-de-zac.
Five-de-zac going once.
I'm not on this one.
Okay.
I am two.
Oh.
Okay.
Wow.
Sold to Zach.
Very good.
There you go.
There you go.
Yeah.
I'm in the game and I still have.
Yeah.
Still have 22 turkeys.
You paid three fewer turkeys for a thing that is less likely to hit than the half sack from a bulldog.
But that's okay.
I paid three fewer turkeys.
Therefore, I have three more turkeys to spend on something else.
Great.
Let's get the day-ness his first day.
This is a normal option.
The Eagles score a touchdown on their first offensive drive that still has not happened all year long.
This is a normal item.
I'll say one.
One to Bill.
Two.
Two to Fran.
Three.
Three to Zach.
Four.
Four to Fran.
Four to Fran going once.
Five.
Oh, five to Zach.
Five to Zach going once.
Six.
Oh.
Six to Fran.
I do agree that if people are only listening to Shulber.
You are missing out the best part of this game is Zach's reaction.
I'm not spending six.
I'm sorry, I'm not spending seven.
You can have it for six.
That's a good buy, though, for six.
Thank you.
Yeah.
All right, I'll touch down on the first offensive possession of the Eagles.
Nice.
Sorry, okay.
All right, my second submission.
We talked about the Charles Harris Revenge of,
game. Charles Harris
plays more defensive snaps in this game
than Will Shipley plays
offensive snaps. And I
will start the bidding at
three. Three to bow.
Three going once.
All right
all right.
Sold a bell.
All right. Or to Fran.
All right, similar.
Kenny Gainwell
has at least 10 touches
on offense.
Ten touches.
10 touches start the bidding at three three different three to fran three to fran going once you're going
to let him have this for three bow you to fran going twice okay okay going twice up all right well 10
touches sold to fran over to you Zach Jwin Carter droll uh I'm sorry I'm sorry Jalen Carter draws a
holding penalty. And we're going to determine drawing a holding penalty by he's being held.
Okay. The player. The player who's called for holding is holding him. Exactly. Yeah.
What if it's called but not accepted? Still. Yeah. Still. Yeah. Still counts. Yeah.
Draws a flag. The flag is thrown. But it has to be a holding. It can't be like a legal hands in the face or something. It has to be holding specifically.
That's a good one. That's a good one. Yeah.
I'll start to bidding at two.
Three.
Three to Fran.
Four.
Four to Zach.
Five.
Five to Bo.
Six.
Six to Zach.
Six to Zach going once.
Who?
Six to Zach going twice.
Yeah, you got it.
That's a good one, Zach.
I like that.
That's a good, good submission.
All right.
Over the two, the number two from Danes.
This item will cost five turkeys.
Julia will begin at X equals zero and count up until someone yells swooper.
And the item is, Bryce Young has X or fewer completions of 10 plus yards.
Everybody understands?
Yep.
All right, just to set the table here, Zach has 16 turkeys, Fran has 22, I have 13.
Julia?
Good to go?
On your mark.
Okay.
Zero. One. Two. Three.
Swipper.
Mm.
Quick to draw.
Wow.
Three or fewer.
Okay. So can we do a turkey?
I have 10. You have 22. Zach has 16.
Okay.
Over to me.
Three or fewer.
I got a lot of faith in defense in this one.
Well, I mean, hopefully so. Yeah.
All right.
This is a fun one that I'm excited about.
Okay.
The Eagles final point total in this game is divisible by the jersey number of any Eagles touchdown score in the game.
Got it?
So the Eagles final points over.
If it's 433.
Then A.J. Brown scores a touchdown.
You hit it.
It hits.
I'm trying to think.
Well, DeFonte is a good one here.
Devante doesn't.
I mean.
Yeah, Sequin doesn't really help you much here.
Well, but Jaylen Hertz does.
Jaylen Hertz does.
Divis it by one.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Isn't everything?
Yeah.
So Jalen Hertz scores a touchdown.
Okay.
All right.
I like this.
Okay.
Everybody ready?
Yeah.
I'm going to start the bidding at six, seven, seven.
Eight.
Eight to Zach.
Nine.
Ten.
Oh, ten to bow.
Eleven.
I can't bid.
11 to Fran.
If I bid this, I have four turkeys left for the room.
Meaning.
Love and a friend going once.
Oh, you can't possibly do that.
Going twice.
Oh.
You're so condescending.
You're so worried about this.
For sure.
This budget that doesn't exist.
First you try to bet me $500.
It's like you're perfect.
There are definitely things that happened before that.
Yeah.
Yeah, you do owe $500.
$500 still my charity of just once a manual form of his career is over a super chat from real time with prince blue who says fran was a j brown not a first rick round pick in the draft it was the second round pick yeah he's second round pick is it yeah why why was he not i don't know why was he not
was there a comment that you made that yeah i'm confused this yeah can you uh let's know a non super chat in a non super chat yeah clarify all right over to you friend all right my last one
the Eagles run for at least
180 yards as a team in the game
we will start the bidding at five
six six to Zach
seven seven to Fran
I'm a bit big on jail and throwing the ball
eight eight to Zach nine
nine to Fran um I have 14 turkeys right
you have 16 turkeys 16 turkeys
nine to Fran going one I'll go ten ten to Zach
I should have on more than
the Jalen Carter one.
10 to Zach going once.
You got the Jalen Carter one.
No, I'm sorry, the sack, the Georgia said.
Oh, well.
10 does that go twice?
Okay.
You got it for how much?
10.
For 10.
Wow.
180 plus yards rushing.
If you looked at the notes,
you would know that
this is the seventh time since the 1970 merger,
that the number one rushing offense will play at home
against the last ranked rushing defense this late in the season.
The team, the rushing offense has run for 180 yards in each of those other.
Great nugget.
Of those other games.
You can find that on all p.hly.com.
By the way, we appreciate genuinely everyone who subscribed in the past, well, in the past two years,
but especially these last 48 hours.
It's been awesome.
And there's a lot of people who join the party.
You can still join the party too.
Great content.
It's worth it.
I say this honestly, it's worth it for Fran's video reports and then draft content alone.
Like you'll see as we get into draft season, you're going to be like, this is highway robbery getting this for $36.
I agree with that.
Yeah.
So there's draft sites that charge well more than that.
So make sure you become a diehard.
I have one other thank you to the listeners.
Usually I don't care to hear nice things from the people.
like it's fine it doesn't stick but I love the the Spotify wrap yeah me too if you're showing us that
we're on there especially if we're at the top for whatever reason that that like I just love that
that I think that's great that's awesome so send those send those as uh please keep doing it and those
are those are fantastic and how about this I'm gonna make a statement here well if if you send us
your Spotify rap and we're number one not if we're behind shield or behind something else if
If we're number one, we will mention you on the show.
You're going to take charge of that?
Yes, I will take charge of it.
You can add Z-Burm or at P-H-L-Y underscore Eagles on Twitter or Blue Sky, but
Twitter's just easier to like say what it is.
You have to dot BSK-Y.
That's social.
Blue sky's way better.
Okay, I'm just saying, yeah, if you show me your Spotify rat, I will mention it on the show.
you have until through the weekend.
So Monday show.
Holding you hostage.
Yeah, Monday show.
I will mention the Spotify rap.
I will read.
Will you do it in rap verse?
No.
No, I will not.
I will read the list of those who submitted it.
I so appreciate it too.
You guys.
And then when you see the hours.
That's my favorite thing to see.
That's great.
Yeah, the hours that they listen to.
I'm like, man, that's so rewarding.
And that's part of the joy of this job is the intimacy of the show.
So to clarify, friend, the question to you from real time with Prince Blue is why was A.J. Brown not a first round pick.
So I'm just going through my notes on him coming out. And just for a quick refresher,
the big thing was that he was a slot receiver only at Ole Miss. And because you had D.K. Metcalfe on the outside, on one side.
I'm trying to remember the name of the other. They had a like a skinny, skinny vertical receiver was the guy on the far right that year.
Elijah Moore was behind them on the depth. Yeah, he was. He was.
he was younger he was the year after um i mean he was big he was strong he was great after the catch
uh the question was the consistency as a route runner which obviously he's gotten so much better there
um but then also like is this a guy that can play on the outside or is he going to be more of like
a big slot receiver um some people thought like is he going to be like a jarvis landry type
uh and obviously he has shown to be a much better uh game breaker uh than that coming out was it demarkis
Lodge.
Yes, it was to Marcus Lodge.
Okay.
Very good.
Good poll.
All right.
Two items left.
Zach, it is yours to propose.
You have six turkeys left.
Fran has 11.
I have 10.
Man, I bit too much on that one.
All right.
Will Shipley, a Charlotte native, by the way,
rushes for more yards than Jonathan Brooks.
Rushes, so no receptions.
Yeah, rushes for more yards than Jonathan Brooks.
And so this would be contingent, of course,
upon the Eagles winning late in the game and them rewarding Will Shipley against his former team
where Jonathan Brooks not having, he hasn't really had a prominent role in the offense
through the first two weeks.
So we'll see what happens.
I'll start the bidding at one.
Two.
Two to Fran.
Three.
Three to Bo.
I'm not ready to go.
Three to Bo going once.
I thought I was going to get this for cheap.
Three to Bo going to Likes.
Four.
Four to Fran.
Four to Fran going once.
can have it for four yeah for someone says i want to see zb spotify wrapped what happened to zack
your lesson from last week was about volume well i bid 10 on that rushing on okay um the uh my spotify
rap would would would make both proud honestly because it's like we we share the spotify as a family
so it's a lot of like um you know songs that emmy and the kids listen to more so than me
Why would that make me proud?
Because it's like music you like.
It's like like Wicked music, like things like like that's...
That's...
I don't say that in a bad way.
You're saying...
What are you talking about?
You like Wickey you said, right?
No, first of all, I haven't said that.
Oh, okay.
Okay.
I'm trying to say here, my Spotify rap.
I've actually never seen Wicked.
But you're just...
So why do you rip on my...
me for not having seen wicked then if you never
seen wicked. Because for you, it's a principled stand
against it's not a problem. Why is it
any different for you than me? I don't want to allocate
that time to see wicked. It's not of
interest to me. It's like you did this
by the way. I got
this off my chest. Okay, this
this bothered me. Okay. You made
me like anti-women's basketball because I
wasn't watching women's basketball. You're like, oh,
you're machismo.
No, what is this? I just wanted to see that.
How long has this been
bothering you? It's been simmering.
It's just been simmering.
And it's just not how I allocate my time.
I've nothing against it.
All this stuff, I have nothing against it.
I don't mind.
I was thinking about it yesterday when we were talking about the P standing up thing.
And you were like, yeah, it's this false machismo.
And it's like, no, it's what I choose to do.
I don't judge what other people do.
It's what I choose to do.
So the same thing.
Yeah.
So wicked.
I have no issues.
It's the way that you were discused.
dismissive of it. No, I, no, not at all. I'm not dismissive of it. It's just not, it's inefficient. It's not what I choose to do.
I thought I was another sound effect for Julia. What was it?
Oh, she. Every once in a while, I've been digging that really terrified and that's down. I'm going to tell you guys.
Wow.
I was once on, I think I've told this right,
where I was once on camera at Eagles.
So Eagles live when they're turning the earthquake.
Yeah.
You could like see me shaking on the sales.
All time.
We're actually like just,
all right,
that'll do it for this episode.
See it tomorrow.
I hope.
Yeah.
It's a classic line.
Pretty good close.
All right.
We've got one item left for Danes.
And I have six, right?
You have six left.
Fran has seven left.
I have ten left.
Here we go.
All right. It's going to be a count downer, and you can borrow from next week to bid.
So the item will get cheaper and more valuable as we go.
Julia is going to be counting down starting at 20 turkeys until somebody yells, super, I presume.
As we get to the item.
And the item is, the Eagles win by more points than the number of turkeys for which this item sells.
I believe the Eagles are 12 and a half, I thought.
12 and a half?
Hold on. I'll let me confirm. Hold on. I'm going to go to Bet365. Stay with me.
And Fran, in commanding position with his portfolio this week, it seems.
12.5.
12.5 point favorites. All right. We'll start at 20. Zach, you have six. Fran, you have seven. I have 10.
The Panthers have covered four straight weeks, by the way.
Panthers have covered four straight weeks. At least four straight.
All right. All right. Got to go?
Let's do it.
go. All right. 20, 19, 18, 17, 16, 15, 15, 15, 14, 14, 13, 13, 12. Swooper. Okay.
12 to go. 12. The Eagles win by at least 12. Yes. Okay. I just want to make sure I write that down, current.
All right. All right. All right.
That's interesting.
Zach.
You have Jalen Hertz throws for at least 265 yards.
Jalen Carter draws a holding penalty,
and the Eagles as a team rush for at least 180 yards.
You have six turkeys to carry over.
I don't think I'm winning this week.
That's okay.
Fran, you have a Georgia player for the Eagles.
It has at least a half sack.
The Eagles score a touchdown on their first offensive possession.
Kenny Gainwell has at least 10 touches.
the Eagles points are divisible by the jersey number of any Eagles touchdown score
and Will Shipley has more rushing yards than Jonathan Brooks.
You have seven turkeys to carry over.
And I have at any point in this game there is a goal-to-go situation from beyond the 10-yard line.
Charles Harris, Chuck Harris, plays more snaps than Will Shipley does.
Bryce Young throws three or fewer completions of 10-plus yards and the Eagles win the game
by at least 12 points
and I have negative two
turkeys to carry over.
There we go.
That's an interesting slate.
Yeah, that's a good one.
All of us have at least three entries.
Yeah.
And I carried seven over next week.
Feel good about that?
All right.
Anything else?
Do you have anything else to
grievance-wise there?
I'll mix it in over the next few shows.
By the way, Beau, you said something in March.
I was thinking about it yesterday
when we were outside the locker room
and the peace standing up conversation came up again yeah i'm not the one who brings it up who
brings it up it just happens to come i definitely did not bring it up a thousand percent to not
a thousand percent um but yeah i i felt that there was uh olivia had a very good line which in the
middle of the conversation was just we know way too much about each other
i i would actually confirm that that's uh yeah the less you know i i said on the show
yesterday when I was a guest with
it's not a guest I'm part of the show but with
Rich and Jamie when I said
that Bryce Young was born at Lincolnale Hospital
which is outside Philly his birth certificate says Philly he's not
from Philly I said my birth certificate says Philly but I was born in
Philly and then I said that's probably the most personal thing I've ever revealed on the show
which is probably true
Wait but did you figure out what hospital you're actually born in?
Do you think that's the most personal thing that you've revealed?
I said it tongue in cheek, but yeah, that's like, that's a, I don't usually like to give personal, uh, information.
What are you talking about?
I got to say, the city that you're born in is a piece of personal information.
When I said that, that's too much.
This is a, this is the difference.
When I say that to Jamie and Rich, they laugh.
It's like fun.
It's loose.
The show's not the, it's like, it's, you know, we, you know, we have good vibes going on here.
I say that to you.
And it's like, you're young.
I have to account for every single comment I've made in five years and weigh X versus Y versus Z.
Yeah.
If you watched yesterday show, it was, it was great.
We're vibing.
Yeah.
Viving.
Viving.
Viving.
All right.
Good stuff.
Lankenau is Montgomery County.
I said corrected.
Okay.
I looked it up.
So County, so it's Lancaster County.
Yeah, I guess you're thinking about County Lines.
It's in the chat.
I mean, it's like a minute from Philadelphia.
Yes.
Oh, yeah.
No, I'm well, wherever.
I pass it often.
So, yeah.
Okay.
All right.
I'll do it for this episode of the PH on my Eagles podcast.
Thank you to Julia for making it all happen.
Thank you to the assassination attempt above.
And we will talk to you tomorrow at 2 o'clock.
Dane is in studio.
Zach joining remotely?
Most likely, yeah.
We're going to see how locker room goes today.
Okay, sounds good. And other than that, just keep on vibing everybody. Oh, by the way, huge game tonight for the Eagles, which we did not talk about. Packers, Lions, huge game for the Eagles in the search for the number one seed. If the Packers win this game, as Danes has told us, the Eagles control their destiny for the one seed, assuming that Minnesota loses at least one more game. So Minnesota would technically control their destiny, but they're not going to win all the rest of their games.
And if the Eagles and Lions were to both win out.
The tiebreakers change if either team becomes a three-loss team.
It's basically if both teams are two lost teams, then the Eagles would control best.
Right.
And if the Lions win this game, then the Eagles are going to need at least two more losses over the final four games for the Lions in order to get the number one seat.
So a huge game tonight and it should be a fun game to watch.
So I'm excited about that.
We're going to be watching it in the Duffy House all three of us.
It'll be fun.
Nice.
Listen to some wicked music before.
Awesome.
Could never be Zach.
Or apparently both.
I'm not against it.
I've just never, I've not seen it.
Same thing with me.
I'm not against it.
I've moved it.
You have you. I mean, you are all on the record as being anti-musical.
I'm not doing this.
Okay.
Seriously.
We're an hour and a half into the show.
This was not my best episode.
If we did a post-game show.
It's one of your great episodes.
If there was post-game interviews to the show,
I would have a lot to put on my shoulders.
I will be better next week.
Where would you start?
Oh, from the top.
Yeah, I didn't get off to a good start.
My preparation, you know, I did prepare for the show, but I got here seven minutes before.
He's up to stairs.
I didn't have a chance to really gather my thoughts.
I didn't have my laptop.
I was disoriented.
I don't know what threw me off at the top start.
So from the start of the show.
What's a good?
saying that you have for excuses.
Well, there's plenty of them, right?
I mean, you can say, I can give you,
you can always go with excuses are like,
peepoles, you know, everyone has one, they all stink, right?
You can say, you know, there's a million reasons for failure,
but not one single excuse.
Good one.
Excuses are the bricks that built a house of failure?
Yeah, you'd say, you know, your excuses in 60 cents
will buy you the daily news.
Daily News is more than 60 cents now.
I used to say that growing up.
Your excuses in 60 cents would buy you the daily news, right?
How young were you when you were saying that?
I would say middle school in high school.
No, middle school in high school, yeah.
I used to also say that my vertical leap was the Saturday Daily News,
which is like the smallest.
Good one, yeah.
But yeah, there are plenty of things.
You know, your friends don't need it.
your, you know, your opponents don't want it, you know, so things like that.
So, anyways, no excuse.
The fact that you just rolled out like seven.
Yeah, just completely off the intimate dome, it's just unbelievable.
Bad episode.
I'll be telling you.
No, it's a great episode.
Great episode.
All right.
Thanks, everybody.
We'll talk to you tomorrow.
And as always, we love you.
