Starting point is 00:00:12 Hello, everybody and welcome to the PHAY Eagles podcast on a Sunday at 6 p.m. Do you know where your Eagles roster is? Not so fast, my friend. We are alive from the Xfinity Mobile Studio presented by Ashley Bowulf and E.J. Smith. Fran Duffy will join us shortly. It is 6 o'clock. Pencils down. The Eagles have to submit their 53-man roster to the league.
Starting point is 00:00:33 We are going to react with you because we don't have it yet, E.J. Yeah, you know, Fran is going to be joining us soon because his computer had to reboot. Maybe somebody in the Eagles organization, you know, Jefferson Health Complex, maybe maybe a power surge, maybe the computers need to reboot. Honestly, I can give you my guess as to why they're waiting until the very last second for to release their 53 man roster, but it is imminent. I can promise everyone in watching this right now. It will be here soon. What is your, what is your guess? I think it's because Holly Rosen probably spent the day trying to find a trade for one of Tanner McKay and Andy Dalton and you know those talks probably lingered and he's probably looking at the phone right
Starting point is 00:01:16 now and saying is anybody going to call before I make this decision so my guess is that's why it's a few minutes late I think I think they just like they just like doing the obfuscation they like they like to be last yeah but you know let anybody know what they're doing they probably waited until the last minute to see if they could figure something out I'm surprised that there weren't any trades today you know I how it was making it through the entire summer without a trade so far EJ it's very That's more characteristic. Yeah, I mean, I think every Eagles beat reporter has probably been near a computer since, you know, yesterday probably. And not a lot of fireworks, not a lot of Howie-Wowie.
Starting point is 00:01:53 So there's still time, you know, maybe we'll see something in the next couple of minutes, next couple of days. But yeah, it's been a quiet day on the Eagles front. It's not good. Howie Roseman Mitch McConnell meme. I didn't see this. Is this guy still kicking? Who knows? How did I not see this?
Starting point is 00:02:10 I've been on social media all day. But there have been a few drips and drabs of reporting so far, E.J. And I think most of them, what you would expect, the ones that were true bubble guys, Maximus Pully reportedly waived. That's an interesting, a relatively interesting one. Kishon James Newby and Cole Wisniewski, the two seventh round picks reportedly waived. Anything else that has jumped out to you so far, as we wait to see if they keep four quarterbacks. Damien Pierce was waived. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:41 You know, outside shot, but maybe had a chance. Carson Steele will not be your on the roster fullback week one. I don't know. Nothing crazy so far. Nothing crazy. I thought it was noteworthy in Jeremy Fowler's reporting that he said that the Eagles want Damian Pierce back on the practice squad. I thought that's noteworthy and especially as you evaluate Carson Steele's potential fit.
Starting point is 00:03:04 You know, I'd not say they can't have both of those guys, but it did find that noteworthy. I think Steele would also be a good practice squad guy. I know a lot of fans were upset about Carson Steele, not making the 53 because he was such like a preseason darling, but I just said about that. Yeah, people were definitely upset about it. Yeah, people were one,
Starting point is 00:03:21 people thought he had earned it, you know, and I think it's like the preseason games are a little bit of a mirage. You know, the team isn't going to put somebody on the 53 just because they had a couple of nice moments in the preseason game. It's about the full body of work in training camp, but also, honestly, it's about, whether or not they need to protect you from waivers
Starting point is 00:03:39 and protect you from getting snatched up by another team. We'll see if Carson, maybe Carson Steel gets claimed on waivers, but I think that was a big part of the calculus there. I think there is something, I think there is something to earning it, but I think the earning it has more to do with what you do in practice and what you put on film in front of the rest of the team. And it's more of a messaging to the team that, like,
Starting point is 00:04:02 if you come out and do everything we ask, it is unfair for us to tell that message to the team and not put you on even initially. That's that's that's that's that's kind of where land. It's more than than the preseason games where Carson still heard us a couple of people. Like that's that's not really the same thing. I agree. Yeah. I mean, Reed Blankenship is a good example of a guy where they could have gotten him through to the practice squad,
Starting point is 00:04:27 presumably, but he had earned a spot on the roster. He was just simply one of the 53 best players. I know some people won't want to hear it, but I just, I don't think Carson Steele really cleared that bar. But again, I think you'd be fun on the practice spot. Yeah, I'm surprised. I did not know that this was such a lightning rod of a decision on Carson Steel. Speaking of lightning rods. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:50 Let's bring on the man himself. Fran Duffy joins us. Honestly, actually, I would say not much of a lightning rod. Everybody loves Fran. I mean, but he gets the people going, you know, he's a... Except for the Snowers family, but... I was going to say, my social media mentions would not agree with you. whatever he loves you.
Starting point is 00:05:06 But, yeah, what's going on, guys? Sorry about the technical stuff on my end. Don't be sorry. We're just, we're waiting. Yeah, we got one of those, the deadline was five minutes ago. Where's, where's your homework kind of deal? Do you think they're going to,
Starting point is 00:05:20 do you think they're four quarterbacks? I feel like they might be, I don't know. I was, I was wondering today because all the, all the QB movement, well, all the QB movement around the league, like over the last 30 hours, 36 hours, had me wondering, like, is this good or bad? Like, if it's all this shakeup, but the, you know, it's like, if it's musical chairs or the Eagles left without a seat kind of deal in terms of trying to trade either Andy Doughtner, Tanamak, you know, it's, it's very interesting.
Starting point is 00:05:52 I'm on the edge of my seat, literally, waiting to see how this unfolds. I don't know. You know what I did in my final, my final one? And this might be a moot point, you know, as I go through it, because we might get the, we might get the actual answer here. I had them keeping three quarterbacks, and I had them keeping Andy Dalton and Tanner McKee. I had them cutting Cole Payton. Oh, did you?
Starting point is 00:06:13 And your official? My official. Yep, my final one. This is not a slight on Cole Payton. This is not to say that Cole Payton didn't have a good training camp. I think he did, but he played 21 snaps in the preseason, just 21 over the three games. Kyle McCord last season, do you want to guess how many he played, Beau? Fran, you know the answer, so you can't say it.
Starting point is 00:06:34 96. 114. And Kyle McCord, two, you know, two off seasons ago, was taking three spots behind where they took Cole Payton. So, and they got him through on waivers just fine. Now, Col Patent has looked significantly better in practice than Kyle McCord did last summer. I will be the first to tell you that. But they tried to hide him through the preseason. And I wonder if they tried to hide him and put him on the, as a personal protector on the punt unit in the effort to say, you know what?
Starting point is 00:07:04 we need both Andy Dalton and Tanner McKee as options, as backup quarterbacks. Maybe they carry all four. I think Peyton has earned it, but I think they might try to sneak him through to the time. I think that's probably the right read. I think it is. I think it's disappointing. It's a little bit silly to have used the resource and treated him this way. But you think about, you know, even in the joint practices with the Patriots, where word of mouth might get around the league.
Starting point is 00:07:32 He played a handful of series through it. through a bad interception and that was it. Like, it's not like Patriot scouts are going to be telling their, their buddies around the league. That kid looked interesting. He played, he played, he led four drives over the course of the entire preseason. One of them was a nice touchdown drive. The other two were the final drives of the game just like thrown to the wolves. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:52 It's, it's weird. It's a little bit, um, janky and self-defeating. But that seems to be the message they're, they're sending. Yeah. I mean, that Patriots game was. a total watch. He came in like the last 30 seconds of the game. But I it's weird because he's shown enough as a developmental player that you would expect them to want to keep him on the 53 and preserve you know, the rookie contract and all that. Also keep in mind like Kyle McCord just
Starting point is 00:08:20 went for what, a fifth round pick or a six round pick. Future six. Yeah, future six. You know, and it was what off of a, you know, a strong preseason in a second year. So you draft these guys with a long view in mind. You shouldn't be cutting bait with them after. one summer, especially in Peyton's case, like an encouraging summer, but I think the backup quarterback situation might necessitate them to do it. Now, maybe they'll keep all four. Maybe, maybe they'll just do that, but it would be the only team. Yeah, the Vikings, I've seen the Vikings did that. Stealers did it. They're the Browns talked about it. So, yeah, they would not be the only team doing that. Yeah. All right. So
Starting point is 00:08:58 the Eagles are deciding whether to keep Andy Dalton and Tanner McKee while the Rams are bringing back Aaron Donald. Pretty similar. Did Dylan McMahon make it? Oh, I don't know. He was, he'd been generating some buzz in the preseason. Really? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:16 Well, that's interesting, especially as the Los Angeles Chargers now head into the season with Coyote Awashika as their starting guard. Ooh. I don't see anything. We got nothing. I'll see any word there. So, yeah. We moved heaven and earth to, to move the show today.
Starting point is 00:09:41 We just have not responded. Have we talked through the tight end decision in terms of some of the other cuts around the NFL? No, go ahead. Who jumped out to you? So obviously the big one that has been in my mentions a few times, including in my text messages, E.J. looking at you. I didn't, I wanted the record to show. It wasn't accusatory. No, of course.
Starting point is 00:10:09 Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, but people, it was the accusatory in the mentions either. Just like in terms of, oh, this guy's available. Talking about Justin Jolie. Jolie. Jolie. I was, what could have, what could have been? So Justin Jolie was a fifth round pick. Same R. E.O., I'm not going to assume that everybody was following in the spring.
Starting point is 00:10:29 Similar archetype as Eli Stowers. my reasoning for why I had Jolie over Stowers, even though Stowers was a second round pick and Jolie was a fifth, was that Jolie had played that role and been productive in that role for the last three, actually for the last four seasons at NC State and previously at Yukon. From what I understand out of Denver camp was that he has faced a lot of the same issues that Stowers has had with the untrustworthiness in terms of being a blocker. And so he ends up getting waived here at the deadline.
Starting point is 00:10:59 I my gut would be that the Eagles would not jump in on Jolie because he's facing the similar kind of issues that Stowers is if Stowers was out for the year and I was like, hey, like we want somebody that can, you know, that can help us out, you know, it'd be a past first option for us and, you know, we don't want to go with Capitara again. Then maybe you could sell me ongoing for Jolie. But even though I had a much higher grade on Jolie than Stowers, I don't know that that's necessarily the waters that I would be fishing in to find your tight end three for this year.
Starting point is 00:11:29 Yeah, I think that's more you would want, you would offer him a spot on the practice squad in place of E.J. Jenkins or whatever else. Right. Right. Yeah, that would. But you got to wait until you've got to clear waivers. Sure. It's unlikely that he's probably going to stay there.
Starting point is 00:11:46 Presumably a fifth round pick. They're going to offer a practice squad spot too. Anybody else around the league who kind of screams Howie to you? Go ahead, E.J. No, I was going to ask Fran. I saw somebody in the chat mentioned Jack stole. I believe that there was an injury settlement when he got waived, so I'm not sure if he
Starting point is 00:12:03 would be a possible reunion candidate here. See somebody asking about Will Levis? I could see. Not a crazy Howie thought. Oh, that is that. Oh, in terms of being a Howie intrigue, not necessarily that's a right skill fit.
Starting point is 00:12:19 Yeah. I'm looking around at other options here. I mean, any any, you know, Evan Neal gets cut from the Giants. That's a Howie one for sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:35 Like, I don't think he's a scheme fit, though. I'm looking, I'm looking through it. So, like, just because of his, like, it's a lot of the things we've talked about with, like, Fred Johnson and not being, like, an ideal scheme fit. Yeah. And truthfully, the, the, we talked about it on the post game show. But the, the stupidity of this, of this whole Andy Dalton situation, the silliness of it, is really underscored by the fact, that the Bengals cut Josh Johnson today. They're keeping two quarterbacks.
Starting point is 00:13:02 Josh Johnson's free for anybody to sign, and he is better than Andy Dalton. We got it. We got it. We got it. On email or on Twitter? They just pushed it on the app. So four quarterbacks make it.
Starting point is 00:13:15 All four are on the 53. Oh, man. Do you have the full 53 or do you have the cuts? I have a full 53. I got the full 53, not the cuts. All right, here we go. Let's give it to us. All right.
Starting point is 00:13:24 Do you want the 53 or the cuts? I can go either way here. All right, let's go position by position. All four quarterbacks, all four make it. We have three running backs, Tank Bigsby, Sequin Barclay, Will Shipley. It's all out of backward. Six wide receivers made it. Elijah Moore made the roster.
Starting point is 00:13:42 Oh, wow. So, Hollywood, Devante Smith, Mackay Lemon, Dantavian, Dantavian Wicks, Elijah Moore, Darius Cooper. Four tight ends. Johnny Munt, Eli Stowers, Dallas Goddard, the fourth tight end. Sorry, EJ. Cam Latu, not on. Calcutara, not on. E.J. Jenkins makes the 50.
Starting point is 00:14:01 Wow. No way. Wow. That was surprising. Ten offensive linemen made it. So no surprises here. Juergens, Steen, Willie Lampkin, Lane Johnson, Drew Kendall, Jordan Milata, Lann Dickerson, Markell Bell makes it, Fred Johnson makes it, Michael Morris makes it.
Starting point is 00:14:18 So the 10, I feel like that was probably chalk. If you were going to go 10, those were the 10. Yep. defensively. We've got five defensive tackles. Jordan Davis. Byron Young does make it. Ty Robinson makes it. Ojamot and Jalen Carter. Five Edgersers. Moore Bernard has been away. Who Arbinard does not make it. Yes, correct. Do Arbenard does not make it. Wow. Nor does weiru. Five edge rushers. Nolan Smith, Arnold Evacady, Jonathan Granard makes the first 53, A.J. Epinessa, J. Elix Hunt, no Joshua. Wow. That is very surprising.
Starting point is 00:14:53 That's surprising. We'll see how that plays out. Four linebackers make it. Jihad Campbell. Smile Bond then makes it. Am I 53 to not go well. Zach Bond. Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
Starting point is 00:15:05 The Chance Campbell thing was. Yeah. Jeremiah Trotter Jr. makes it. So you got four. Nine D.Bs. So we got Rieke Wollin, Keely Ringo. Why is Rick Wollin at the top of the,
Starting point is 00:15:16 everything else was the alphabetical order? Very strange. Rick Wollen, Keely Ringo, Mac McWilliams. Drew McCuba, Quinyon Mitchell, Marcus Epps, Jonathan Jones does make it. Cooper DeGine. Really?
Starting point is 00:15:28 Michael Carter does make it. Rocco Underwood does make a three specialists on there. So they released Chance Campbell, Britton Covey, Danny Gray, Teran Jackson, Michael Jordan, Jordan, Damien Pierce, Stone Smart, Ambrie Thomas, Sean Wade, Quez Watkins, the players that are waived. UR. Bernard, David Blay, Isaiah Bolden, Zeke Correll, Eric, Outerner. Azucon, Brandon George, Kapina Gushikin, the Gush, Gabe Hall, Miles Hinton, Kishon James Nubi, Cam Latu, Deonti, Deontay Lawson, Jalen Mahoney. I did not know about, I was not aware of Jailah Majors,
Starting point is 00:16:09 Mims, John Adjuquu, Maximus Pully, Jose Ramirez, Andre Sam, Waved Injured, Carson Steele, Samarro, Samaray, Tage Washington, Josh Warew, Cameron Williams, Zion Wilson, Cole Wisniewski, Jacorian Bennett and Grant Calcutera went to IR designated for return. Interesting. Okay. We're going to take a break. We're going to digest. Let us know your biggest takeaways in the chat.

We went from talking about Devante Smith as a rookie to being one of the best receivers in the NFL poised for a breakout season. and the Eagles have won, obviously a Super Bowl over that time as well. And they've got lots of options. If you're looking for something rich and creamy, well, how about that strawberry cheesecake cream smoothie?
Starting point is 00:18:07 Ooh, baby. If you want something that tastes like summer, you're soaking it in. How about the Pia Colada float? Or if you're looking for something that you can really, really get nasty with, something you can really dig into, How about the caramel cookies and cream parfait? Oof, tough to beat. Perfect does an afternoon pick me up,

No matter what you're craving, wah-wahs got ice cream parfaits, floats, and cream smoothies ready whenever you are. You know the deal. You got to have a wawa. All right, back on the P. H.O.E. Eagles podcast.
Starting point is 00:18:45 We have the roster. Let's get to the right people. Presented by Trimark Financial because the Eagles feel like they have the right 53. E.J. Our Eagles insider, give us your number one takeaway. Let's go one by one here. Give me your biggest takeaway. Well, I know you guys will go with the IPP guys, so I feel like I have that covered.
Starting point is 00:19:06 I feel like the big headline is that they're covering four quarterbacks onto the initial 53-man roster. It doesn't shock me. I think it probably does speak to what Colpaten showed behind the scenes. and during training camp, even though they didn't really give them the reps in the preseason games, I think it's probably reflective of like how awkward this situation really has been. The fact that I don't know which one of Andy Dalton or Tanner McKee is their backup quarterback, but if you have two backup quarterbacks, you probably have none. But the fact that they carried all four on the initial 53 at the expense of some players
Starting point is 00:19:42 who we were expecting to be on the 53-man roster, I think is probably the biggest story that will come off of this one. Okay. I mean, truly, my biggest surprise is Josh Wareau not being on the roster. Yes. And E.J. Jenkins being on the roster. And I'm trying to think that through because if E.J. Jenkins is not a vested veteran, he's right on that bubble. I don't, because he doesn't have accrued seasons, even if he was subject to waivers, I don't think he's getting claimed.
Starting point is 00:20:17 and I understand that you want to go into week one with three tight ends on your roster, and Eli Stowers is injured right now and is probably going to be inactive anyway. But presumably, you're going to have a couple tight ends on the practice squad. You can use one of the elevations, and even if Covey is one of them too,
Starting point is 00:20:35 there's enough room to play with there. There's also the post other cutdowns of getting guys. It's possible that E.J. Jenkins is not long for the roster. Yeah. and you think that waving Weroo now gets you, you know, he's part of the large mass. Because if they get Wero and Bernard through now, one of them gets the IPP exemption,
Starting point is 00:20:59 one of them's on the practice squad, you're probably going to keep them. Obviously, it's possible that they just don't value him the same way that we do. I am not as surprised by UR because he is further away. There's no special teams upside there, even if he, you know, in the one year near term.
Starting point is 00:21:18 That one's less surprising to me. I am really surprised by Waru, though. I really am. Especially because he's not protected now. I mean, unless they use the exemption on him instead of who are, if he's on your practice squad, he is available to get claimed off of the practice squad. Yeah, and I was thinking about,
Starting point is 00:21:34 and now he doesn't have to, you can get offered those. He could turn that down. That's a possibility. Yeah. You just got to get him through waivers is the big thing. But I was thinking about this in the shower, as you do.
Starting point is 00:21:45 and how, especially for Wero, but with Wero and Bernard, you know, most of the guys who are getting cut today, every other guy who's getting cut today, all of the pro-personnel departments and the college and the personal departments, they already have opinions on these guys, right? Even though, you know, they've evaluated them all coming out of college. So even if they're watching their preseason tape
Starting point is 00:22:07 and maybe somebody moves the needle more than you expected, it's all a marginal relative to your baseline level, great on the player because you have a predetermined thought on them and how they fit in your scheme. With Bernard and Wero, and Waru especially, like, these guys, they never had game tape before. So everybody's going to be, like, judging just on this game tape. And when you see 40 snaps of Wero and like five or six of them are high-level stuff, I really will not be surprised if he gets claimed. I could be wrong.
Starting point is 00:22:43 And, you know, I've been wrong about guys getting claimed before. It's also been right about some guys. But I am surprised. So you weigh that risk against whatever the payoff is on the quarterback situation. Like whatever they're sitting on, whether it's a deal with one of the other players, whether it's like whatever upside you believe Cole Payton has, like you are making that, you're taking that risk and you're weighing it against that when it comes down to this 53rd spot. I'm surprised by the way of a decision.
Starting point is 00:23:13 I agree. What's your next takeaway? I was kind of going through it, and I'm like, all right, I think you check the box at three positions where it's like no real, they have really four positions. I would say offensive line, no shockers. DB, no shockers, running back, no shockers. I'm a little bit surprised at Jonathan Jones by the roster.
Starting point is 00:23:34 Same. Yeah, I had him on, but I think that he was injured for most of the camp, and he's not subject to waivers. Yeah, but I think. They must be just that he's coming back soon. And it's like, oh, we feel like we can plug him in play right now. They think he's their fourth-th-th corner. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:53 Yep. So for me, the interesting one is Elijah Moore. And I know he's been very, like, he's been active in practice. What does it mean for Mackay Lemon for week one? Does it mean anything for McKay-Lenman for week one? Does it mean that he is definitely the punt returner? You're not using any call-up on Britt and Covey. We're not doing that with Covey this year.
Starting point is 00:24:14 Like, more is that. that guy. I can't imagine you're doing you're keeping both guys, both he and Covey. So that was the, I would say that was the name as I was going through during the break. Like that was the one that stood out to me. I'd just surprise. Yeah. I think Elijah Moore, I thought of this and I did have him on. I thought of this like we were saying before where you're showing to the to the whole team every day who's making plays in practice and he was. And the most important, uh, You know, he made the best play of the most important practice that they had.
Starting point is 00:24:48 Was that that big downfield play against the Patriots and the joint practices. Like that was, that's the most important stuff they had. Jalen had, like most of Jalen's big throws this summer have come to Elijah Moore. There's clearly some kind of connectivity there. An indoor practice. The indoor practice. The indoor practice, the first. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:07 Yep. Right. Right. Yeah. And so if they're, you know, if they're not worried, but if they're looking for ways to get Jalen comfortable in the offense, and this is one player who he has found some connectivity with, I think it makes a little bit of sense.
Starting point is 00:25:23 I think before camp, I didn't think he was going to make it because he was on a practice squad within the last year, but I think he's done enough. And it's also a little bit of a hedge against Hollywood Brown and Darius Cooper and Mackay Lemon, all of those guys. Like, it makes some sense. Yeah, I think the McKay Lemon aspect of this is important too, especially not just as a receiver, but as a punt returner.
Starting point is 00:25:42 We saw him do it in the third preseason game. And maybe that was the straw that broke the camel's back that gets Elijah Moore on the roster. Because, you know, you look at it, Britain Covey is probably going to be a week one elevation off the practice squad if he makes it, you know, onto the practice squad. And if he's if he's available to them, I think he will be elevated because of his punt return ability. And then you have one other spot. And right now, looking at it, I don't know who that would be. It's not like they did any, you know, chicanery with like Rocco Wonderwood where he's going to be on the practice squad. but if it was Elijah Moore and Britain Covey as week one activations off the practice squad,
Starting point is 00:26:16 those are your two spots. Maybe you have, maybe you wanted more flexibility there. So I think that the big part of it is what you said, Bo, which is that he was just one of the 53 best players throughout training camp. I think it's a testament to like the uphill battle that he had to make the 53 because they didn't have to have him on necessarily. But I do also think it might be a hedge against the fact that Mackay Lemon might not be
Starting point is 00:26:38 in the full role you envision him for in week one. because of the time that he's missed. Yeah, I mean, I think they are, and what I think they will tell us tomorrow, in which we haven't said, we're going to hear from Harry Roseman and Nick Siriani tomorrow, is they treated this like getting, like the roster that they wanted to get ready for week one,
Starting point is 00:26:56 like what they're playing again this week. And the issue I have with that is they're not. You know what I mean? Like, there's more time. So I don't know. We'll see. They're making a bet. We'll see if,
Starting point is 00:27:10 we'll see if it pays off. I mean, it's crazy that, and we always do this, but the season is about, you know, Jalen Hertz and the offense and the offensive line, and we're spending so much time just thinking about grinding over the Joshua decision and who are Bernard. But I, you know, sweat the small stuff.
Starting point is 00:27:32 That's what it's all about. And they do the same thing. It's not like, you know, they're not sweating over these decisions as well, to be fair. Yeah. So we will find out, is tomorrow at noon? It's an earlier claim window, right, than normal, not the 4 p.m., I think. And then we find out later in the afternoon.
Starting point is 00:27:52 Practice squads. But it's going to be interesting. Man, I don't think I'm keeping the crown, by the way. I think, I mean, I think a lot of people will only have in the 40s, but. I'm going to say, it'll be a, it's probably a blood bath this year. Yeah, but I don't feel good about my chances this year. We'll see. Never say never.
Starting point is 00:28:15 So the fact that they're keeping Colpayton, which I think is the right decision. Yeah. Is so weird given the way they handled things all summer. Yeah. What the hell? It's not like they're keeping four quarterbacks who we can all agree deserve to be on the roster.
Starting point is 00:28:33 You know what I mean? I mean, Josh Johnson. Andy Dalton, no one in the league has taken Andy Dalton. And you can just put him on the practice squad. He's getting paid the same amount of money. His money's guaranteed. Just sit him there. Yeah, and that's because even like the, because I've seen like some like talk about like, oh, like, you know, do they have like handshake deals with with Andy Dalton?
Starting point is 00:28:54 It's not like they like lured Andy Dalton in with like as a free agent. We're like, hey, like, we want to bring you in and this is what we promised it. Like they traded for them. Like the panthers dealt him. So, you know, unless you make those kind of concessions after the facts to keep them happy, but I don't know. It's a, it's a weird situation. It's very strange. The UR thing, I'm also like, you know, the way that Howie explained keeping Cam Williams last year on the roster, when Cam Williams had a bad summer and did not look roster worthy.
Starting point is 00:29:29 The explanation is when we draft this player, we're thinking of the long-term view in mind. And, you know, we're not going to judge him based on one summer. We are invested in the development now. Ken Williams did not make the team again this year. but it's bizarre it is a little bit bizarre to me to have used the pick on uar and not you're betting that you're betting that he's going to get through when he's going to go and claimed
Starting point is 00:29:55 and I think it is likely that he will because he also needs a more prescriptive plan I think than where he does but I don't know it's a little bit intellectually dishonest or just you know inconsistent it's like yeah there's a dissent it's a cognitive dissidence there where it's like he was a
Starting point is 00:30:17 developmental player you had to have a long view to base it off of the way that he looked in a couple weeks yeah it is a it's a little bit tough to swear those two things there's a comment in the chat it's like oh how he says the same thing every year this is not the final roster yeah here's the thing you you are exposing these guys to get picked up by other teams when you make this when you make this cut down so these decisions do matter uh when it comes down to like uh you know yes we know we understand that there are going to be more moves to come This is not going to be their roster in two weeks. This is not going to be their roster in two months.
Starting point is 00:30:47 But these decisions do matter on the margins. Yeah, it's the permanence of like the developmental players that we're surprised by. It's not like we're sitting here like, I can't believe Elijah Moore and EJ Jenkins made the 53. Like yeah, those are surprises. But yeah, I think it's much more about kind of like sticking with the development plan for some of these guys. I'm surprised, especially with Weroo. It's like he showed a lot in the preseason. We can overstate that, but he flashed.
Starting point is 00:31:10 I'm sure that there will be some interest in it. Maybe he clears waivers. but I'm sure that teams took notice of what he did in the preseason. All right. Let's get to some of the super chats. And by the way, if you are watching live, hit those like buttons, please. Let's get this bad boy in front of more people. Liam O'Neill says,
Starting point is 00:31:25 Weirwin Bernard, how many turkeys would you put on each of them getting through waivers? Good to see you, chaps. Go Byrd. Good to see you as well. I'm going to put 25 turkeys on who are getting waived in like, in like a, you know, McVeigh Revenge for Willie Lampkin situation, and I'm going to put 49 turkeys on Ware are getting claimed.
Starting point is 00:31:51 Getting claimed? Getting claimed, yes. Okay. You're muted right now, Fran. Not sure how that happened. Yeah, 49 is a little high for me on Wereru, but I'm not going that much lower. Like, I don't know, like 40, which is it.
Starting point is 00:32:09 It's a risk. That's a substantial risk. UR, I would say 10 to 12 chance to get it gets claimed Yeah, okay Yeah, I'm gonna go I'll go 15 on UR
Starting point is 00:32:25 mostly because he was a draft pick Whereu I'm gonna go 50 I think there's a real chance he gets claimed Okay It's not just like the Eagles bubble That had some buzz about whereu And I know like people are like Reporters around the NFL
Starting point is 00:32:39 Are not representative of the legal at large, but I think he did enough in the preseason where there might be a team that says he's got tools, you know, we can work with that. Well, and we can joke about it, but the fact that like the Eagles Media Corps has talked so much about Wero, you know, led by the Camp Crush, that's, that is a factor that they have to keep in mind because it means that like, you know, Fran's tweeting about him. There are people in every single NFL front office who are following Fran and looking at his his social media feeds, right?
Starting point is 00:33:13 So they've all seen, they've all seen the hype. It, it, it raises the threat level of him getting claimed. I will tell you, like, I have had pro scouts. This is when I was with the Eagles. Like, I've had pro scouts come up to me and say, oh, yeah, like, we were watching you on, you know, Philadelphia Eagles.com breaking down such and such, and that led us to go and claim this guy. Like, literally, like, that is something that pro scouts do.
Starting point is 00:33:38 As you go to the website, you follow the meeting, you got, you have social media list and you go and you check those accounts and you say like yeah who who's being who's buzzworthy out of camp for the teams that I'm in charge of so it's it's we'll see uh dinkleberg we pour one out for the good but he says not the start we were hoping for but this story is not yet over it is just the beginning in the meantime everyone please join me for a moment of silent for the gush I don't think something tells me we have nuts
Starting point is 00:34:10 in the last of the gush I think there's a good chance I'll be back on the practice squad you think he and Polly I think so yeah
Starting point is 00:34:18 I think so too I had them both on I think so so did I all right let's take a break here from some sponsors on the other side
Starting point is 00:34:23 let's reverse this and take some time to talk about the guys who did make it and celebrate the accomplishment for the guys who maybe didn't enter camp as sure things
Starting point is 00:34:33 and what they did to deserve it Elkin Chevrolet is run by three brothers, actual brothers guys, and they're local guys. And right now, they are going all in. Check out their inventory of Chevy trucks and SUVs, and they're the ones that people actually want and their price to move. We're talking Silveradoes, equinoxes, trackses, trailblazers. If it's on your list, they have it, and they're going to move fast. So if you've been waiting, don't wait any longer, because once they're gone, they're gone. And whether it's getting to a game, getting to work or getting out of town, you'll be driving off in the right ride at a price that makes it an easy
Starting point is 00:35:14 win and an easy yes for you. And here's a difference. There's no runaround. There's no back and forth. There's no games, just real brothers, making real deals on all of Chevy's best offers. You know, Silverado, the Equinox, the tracks, the Trailblazer again. There's no run around. There's no back and forth, no games, just real brothers making those real deals every single day. Elkin Chevrolet, real brothers, real deals, and a whole lot of honking good service. Elkin Chevrolet is located on Route 73, South and Marlton. My name's Fran Duffy, and Parks Casino is my casino of choice. That's right.

They just announced a handful of great acts, including magician Michael Carbonaro on September 19th. That's right, the pasta man. Gambling problem called 1-800 gambler. Again, guys, check out some of these tickets. They're going to move fast for all the headliners at Parks Casino. back in the PHS by Eagles podcast bow wolf eJ Smith fran duffy time now to give a little nod to the players who earned themselves on to the 53 man roster and i started with e.J last time so fran i will let you go first and talk about your boy you must be very proud of i mean look uh it was almost a year ago uh when the eagles claimed really lambkin uh off waivers from the l a rams and we came on we had a wasn't an emergency
Starting point is 00:37:08 It might have been an emergency pod. I think we did an emergency pod. Yeah, I think we did an emergency pod. And we were very excited about what this could mean for the future. It's like, all, well, he was dealing with a little bit of an injury. And he came in and he met expectations and surpassed expectations for a lot of people. So this is a player that I would imagine is going to be, you know, one of the first guys off the bench for the Eagles this year.
Starting point is 00:37:29 Maybe he carves out a little bit of a niche role in, you know, as a auxiliary blocker in heavy sets as a sixth offensive lineman on the field. Stay tuned for that, maybe. we'll see but I think when you're looking at Willie Lampkin yeah like he came in he was one of the most talked about players all summer long not just from media but the players constantly brought him up on their own on their own and then also obviously being asked about him but coaches uh praised him as well so yeah awesome summer for Willie Lampkin and this is the exclamation point this a great step for him and we should say even though he was on the 50th or he was claimed last year and then
Starting point is 00:38:03 sort of toiled on injured reserve you know he started the summer on the third team He worked his way up consistently. You know, he was not, he was not necessarily on the roster to start the summer. He totally had to earn it. And, I mean, for all the reasons we talked about every single day, boy, did he earn it. So yeah, shout out to Willie Lankin. Fun story will be fun to follow. Over to you, E.J.
Starting point is 00:38:25 I really appreciate you going to me. I thought you were going to go next to make sure that you got to talk about your boy, Darius Cooper. I mean, it's not surprising. He's on the 53-man roster. It didn't even, you know, really cross any of our minds. oh yeah, like Darius Cooper made it on because he was a lock. And I think the fact that he went into today as a lock, you know, didn't play in the third preseason game, I think it is a testament to the work that he did in the early portion of
Starting point is 00:38:50 camp and the really the potential that he flashed. You know, not the finished product yet. And I think he had a little bit of a shakier end to training camp, but there was a stretch where he was one of the most productive receivers in the group. A guy developing chemistry with Jalen Hertz. And again, a guy who answered the question on whether or not he should be on the 53-man roster early and actually started asking the question, is this guy good enough to play real meaningful snaps for the Eagles in the regular season? I think that remains to be seen,
Starting point is 00:39:17 but I still think that the work that Darius Cooper did this summer shouldn't go underappreciated. I think, you know, he has really shown you that there's a lot of, there's a lot to work with with his profile. And, you know, if he continues to develop, I think he is going to be a productive receiver in the NFL. Very well said. Was one of the stars of the summer. No doubt about it. it and you're right you know it not a surprise relative to five days ago but maybe a pleasant surprise from a month ago um i'll give a i'll give a shout to tie robinson just a you know a player who not only you know entering camp but probably the first half of camp was looking like maybe he wasn't
Starting point is 00:39:57 going to make the team and and uh was a little bit of a disappointment as a fourth round pick in his second year really turned it on the second half flashed i'm i'm curious to see how the week one rotation pans out if he or Byron Young is going to be playing more snaps than the other. But as, you know, we all laughed at the Vic Fangio quote about, you know, life support since he got here. Good for, good for Ty Robbins. I think he could say the same thing about Will Shipley, who turned it on the second half of camp as well and looked good. Feel good for those guys. I feel good for E.J. Jenkins making the roster.
Starting point is 00:40:32 I'm worried that this is just kind of placeholder. And he's on the roster. to be the guy who was cut when they claim someone tomorrow. Claim someone or maybe this is a sliding door scenario for Zach Hertz down the road. I looked it up the other day. I think Zacherts got hurt. It was, was it December? December 8th, I believe it was.
Starting point is 00:40:56 So he will be nine months removed from that injury on September 8th, which is after the start of week one. But, you know, maybe that's the benchmark for the Eagles there. Is, you know, the injury being nine months behind him. obviously it was a serious one. So I actually think the more I think about like the fit for Zach Hertz in that room, I actually think it makes a lot of sense. As a backup behind Dallas Goddard, if Dallas Goddard misses time, you have a proven
Starting point is 00:41:20 past catcher, a guy who at least is going to like know the tricks of the trade, you know, the dark arts in blocking. I'm not saying he's going to be a force in that area, but at least he's been in the league long time. And then also like the mentorship aspect, free lifestyle is maybe, you know, maybe there's something there too. So I think he makes a lot of sense for them, even beyond just like the fun, sentimental, you know, reunion that that would be. I think in terms of what they have in a room, I think he actually fit what they could use.
Starting point is 00:41:47 I agree with you. And I mean, when you guys talked about it in the episode without me and I was listening back. And I think it's like borderline likely. It's such a Howie Roseman thing. Yeah. You know, to let Zachers finish his career here, he'll get the receptions record. but it also does make some sense football-wise if they're not going to add another tight end elsewhere
Starting point is 00:42:08 if you think about it as an upgrade over Grant Kakatera I think that's I think he is that some questions about how the process works with the guys like UR and Waru now they are subject to waivers anybody can claim them and that team will put them on their 53 men roster if they do make it through unclaimed one of them gets that 17th practice squad spot
Starting point is 00:42:32 and cannot then be taken and to a roster during the season. The other one will have to just be on the practice squad, presumably. I'm seeing a lot in the chat about like, oh, like, it's a shame like Uar, like, was basically like kind of writing UR off just because he didn't make the initial 53. His journey is like not over. Like even if he doesn't get, it's, I would say it's unlikely he gets claimed. He'll go through the 53.
Starting point is 00:42:58 He's going to continue to work in the background. I think the difference between he and Jordan Milam. And this is this is the other part of the Catholic. with all of these decisions is it's not just the, like it's, it's not just how close is this guy to impacting our team right now. It's if this player hits, what does that mean? Like, what did what is the value of that player? So with Jordan Milata, if he were to hit and he clearly, obviously, like, hit the 99th, you know, 100th, 100 percentile outcome for, you know, his, him as a prospect, that's a, that's a gamble that everyone's going to take. You see teams roster
Starting point is 00:43:32 quality offensive line projects like height weight speed projects all the time at that position with uvar there are more guys like uar in terms of like oh like developmental defensive lineman and maybe he never becomes a starter but if he's like your first guy off the bench like that's an easier kill to swallow right then as opposed to like losing a jordan milada so uh yeah it's he's further away but that said closer than where like to me like jordan milada year one that that that you really You knew that that was a long way away. And I think UR is as well. But I don't think it's outside of the realm of possibility that UR is able to like play snaps in 2027.
Starting point is 00:44:12 So, you know, to me, it's a it's all, it's a, it's a, it's a very layered formula with all of these players trying to figure out like, all right, do we want to keep them? And it's more than just the 53. It's, you know, these guys are going to be on the team and on the practice squad. And I think part of the message that they will say off the record is. is we spent so much time in the draft process. Everybody in the league complaining about how bad this draft was. So you're telling me that guys who went in the seventh round of this draft or went undrafted, like those guys are going to get claimed on waivers.
Starting point is 00:44:48 They're probably right about that. It's part of the calculus. I'm a little surprised that where it was not on also in the selling to agents that we always keep undrafted guys. So no undrafted players have made this roster. You know what I mean? Yeah. Just to keep that streak alive.
Starting point is 00:45:08 Not that they're going to keep a guy just for that, but they like to have that message out there. Rocker Underwood. There we go. That's a good point. That's a good point. There you go. He made it.
Starting point is 00:45:18 All right. The streak's off. But still, I take it back. No. No, no. I take it back. You're right. It's a good call.
Starting point is 00:45:26 They're going to use that. I mean, that's true. It keeps it going. All right. Time for our last break. Back with more on the other side as we unpack the Eagles initial 53 man roster. How many wins? Are you taking them down a notch after the Weroo surprise?
Starting point is 00:45:41 We've got some graphics on the other side. Stay with us. Back to school season, for some of us, has already happened. You know the drill and you know the deal. New backpacks, school supplies, filling up the tank for practices, games, and everything in between, it all adds up.

Visit rothanortho.com slash P.H.O.I. to get back to doing what you love. Back in the P.H.O.E.J. and Fran. A couple super chats to get to green wing men,
Starting point is 00:47:53 says in retaliation for the Eagles claiming Willie Lampkin, the Rams claim U.R. Bernard to learn under Miles Garrett. Because, of course, they would. They already picked up a defensive tackle today. I think they're pretty excited about. Yeah. And both of them have played the same amount of snaps over the past three years.
Starting point is 00:48:12 J.R. McEl with the Super Chan says, y'all have consistently referenced the top 46 this year. Is that an indicator that those bottom seven spots have less quality than in previous years or no? Go ahead, Fran. The way I would look at it is, you could look at it that way. You could also look at it that it's like, all right, it kind of flattens out where there's just competition and there wasn't, there wasn't a lot of clarity, right?
Starting point is 00:48:37 And, you know, we had questions about, all right, like, how is quarterback, how is the quarterback position going to shake out? How is the, how is the lineback position going to shake out? How is the, the cornerback position going to shake out? So you didn't have, like, those guys that were just, like, locked in, we knew what we were expecting. And when you have the amount of turnover that team's had and you're leaning on some of these young players, so a lot of these guys are unproven. Yeah, you're going to have, there's going to be ambiguity there. Yeah, it's like there were a handful of undrafted guys, but none of them really separated themselves so much that you felt they're one of the 53 best they're going to be on. And then they had a handful of guys who are vested veterans where you think they probably don't need to have them on the roster to provide depth. But, you know, a guy like E.J. Jenkins, Elijah Moore, they, they more or less earn a spot on the 53.
Starting point is 00:49:21 So I don't think it's, I think that this team is pretty deep. You know, I think if you're looking at the 53 man roster, I feel pretty good about like depth in the key areas at the very least. you know, don't ask me about backup quarterback. But outside of that, I think their depth is good. It was more about just sort of the context around some of these guys that I wasn't, I didn't feel as great about going into this one. I see some consternation in the chat about Keely Ringo making the team. But he is the best gunner on the team and one of the better gunners in the NFL.
Starting point is 00:49:53 I think that Darius Cooper is probably going to be the other starting gunner, if it's unless they're elevating somebody. And, you know, I think I think the way that Vic talked about, Keely Ringo sort of told you that it was going this way. But I think he is on the roster on the strength of his special teams play. I agree on Keely. But Vic didn't have the greatest summer of like sort of hinting at things that were going to happen. You know, he obviously told us if Chance Campbell is on your lists.
Starting point is 00:50:21 He should be. Chance Campbell doesn't make this roster. I didn't think he was going to make the roster. And I. Vic is a reliable narrator most of the time. But yeah. And then he also. He doesn't make those decisions.
Starting point is 00:50:31 But he also talked about this, I do think, is noteworthy. He talked about the last few spots on the roster being for guys who maybe aren't going to play right away, which I took as a sign that you're going to get Vick's blessing on Uar Bernard and Joshua. Who did happen? Well, maybe I don't know if that happened. But yeah, those guys didn't make it all. I was going to say, because that was a week or two after him saying, like, those guys are light years away from being able to play and to, like, pump the brakes on them.
Starting point is 00:50:56 Yeah, it seemed like there was some momentum there. So, yeah. by the way four teams kept four quarterbacks on their initial 53 man roster is the Eagles the Falcons the Steelers and the Vikings and I'll be honest with you Falcons have Tua Michael Penix
Starting point is 00:51:13 Cooper Rush and Jack Strand Because Pennix isn't healthy right now or again just I'll be honest with you looking at the teams that kept the four quarterbacks none of these teams have a backup quarterback you feel good about I think that's what that's the common and outmaker there yeah super chat from
Starting point is 00:51:29 JP who says Blankenship was a UDFA, that's right? He certainly was. He goes, have had some good UDFA in recent years. Let's run through just in case you were joining us live and catching up. Let's run through the cuts and the guys on the roster. Lindsay, why don't we start with the waves to begin?
Starting point is 00:51:49 Players waived. Uar Bernard. Now tell me, speak up if you think these guys have a shot of getting claimed. And I think we generally overstate that possibility, something like, you know, 25 to 30 players were claimed last year. Uar Bernard, David Blay, Isaiah, Bolden, Zeke Karel, a bunch of those guys were just
Starting point is 00:52:07 recent additions, Erica Zuccahama, Brandon George, Coppenica Shicken, Gabe Hall. Yeah, that would be one. I think Gabe Hall could get claimed, that's possible. Yes, he's playable. He's playable right now. Yeah, Kishon James Newby, not impossible, but he was such a late seventh-round pick and didn't show quite enough that I think that's unlikely.
Starting point is 00:52:27 Cam Latu certainly showed enough. Two turkeys on that one. Could. On special teams last year that he could be claimed by a team looking for a special team's demon. Deontel Lawson, the undrafted linebacker from Alabama. I could see him getting claimed. I put one and a half turkeys on that. Oh, I would put more than that.
Starting point is 00:52:44 I'd put 35 turkeys on that. Oh, 35. Man. It's still less than 50%. Oh, my Lord. Jalen Mahoney, Jake Majors, Jordan Mims, John Ajukwu, Maximus Pully, Give me 15 turkeys on pulley. Jose Ramirez.
Starting point is 00:53:01 Give you one. Andre Sam injured. Carson Steele. Samari Torre, Taj Washington, Joshua. We've talked about. Cam Williams. Zion Wilson. Oh, Cole Wisniewski.
Starting point is 00:53:14 I'll put six on Zion Wilson. I can throw a couple on Zion. I would put a couple on Wisniewski too. Only because he only played in one game. And it was, I think, maybe like four or five series or something like that. He's been hurt, but it's possible. What about Carson Steele? No turkeys for many of us on Carson Steele?
Starting point is 00:53:33 I don't think so. Why is there so much consternation about that one? Because they, I mean, the fans watch the games. You know, a lot of the people will watch the P.H.I. Eagle Show. They get the full scope of the summer and training camp practices. But if you just watch the preseason games, maybe you thought he had a real shot at it. Now the players released. We can tell you.
Starting point is 00:53:55 These are the veterans. Campbell. I think if Chance Campbell was on a rookie contract, I could see him getting claimed. I think he'll probably safely go to the Eagles practice squad. Britt and Covey, good chance we have not seen the last of him. Danny Gray, Terran Jackson, the great one, Michael Jordan, Damien Pierce, Stone Smart, Ambry Thomas, Sean Wade, and Quez Watkins. And that means that these are your 53 players on the initial Eagles 53 men roster. four quarterbacks.
Starting point is 00:54:28 How about Lindsay banging these out in the middle of the show? Fantastic. Jalen Hertz, Colpate and Andy Dalton, Tanner McKee. All four make it. Tight ends. Dallas got her, Johnny Munt, E.J. Jenkins and Eli Stowers. And I think, E.J., let's take a second here because you have some reporting on Eli Stowers. There was a thought that maybe the Eagles would use his hamstring injury as a way to sneak him on to IR, save a roster spot.
Starting point is 00:54:53 What can you tell us? Yeah, the sense I get is it's not an IR injury. It's not one that is going to hold him out for the four weeks through the regular season. I think, you know, it's probably more of a couple weeks timeline where he's probably going to be ready shortly after the regular season starts, if not before. So, you know, that's not to say that like guys don't get put on IR if they don't, you know, even if it is like a short-term injury. But with him, I think they probably expect him to be back on the field sooner than that four
Starting point is 00:55:19 week, Mark would have been. And this is a thing. I remember I was even last year or the year before where this is a thing that like the league can look into if you are using IR for an injury that's not really supposed to be that long of an injury. I don't know that any of those findings ever become public but it's something that the Eagles have to think about at least.
Starting point is 00:55:44 All right, back up to who made the team? Wide receiver. Six of them. Hollywood Brown, Devante Smith, Mackay Lemon, Tay Wicks, Darius Coup. and Elijah Moore makes the roster. Three running backs, Tank Bigsby, Saquan Barkley, Will Shipley,
Starting point is 00:55:59 and then 10 offensive linemen. The five starters plus Markell Bell. Fred Johnson does make it. Michael Morris, the sixth round pick, makes it. Drew Kendall, likely to be your top interior offensive lineman and Willie Lamkin. Defensive line.
Starting point is 00:56:13 Five defensive ends. Jonathan Granard does not start the season on Pupp. So the Eagles expect him to be able to play in one of the first four weeks of the season. He joins Nolan Smith, Jailix Hunt, AJ Epinessa, and Arnold Abbott-A-Katey who both make it. Defensive tackle, your big three at the top, and then Byron Young and Ty Robinson, four linebackers, Jahad Campbell, Smile Mondin, Zach Bonn, and Jeremiah Trader Jr.
Starting point is 00:56:36 Three specialists, Rocco Underwood, the undrafted long snapper makes the team, and then at defensive back, you've got your three starters at cornerback in addition to Jonathan Jones, Mack McWilliams, and Keely Ringo, and only three safeties with Marcus Epps, Drew McCuba, and Michael Carter the second. Do you think they'll add another safety? You know, when I was submitting my 53, I just like by default,
Starting point is 00:57:03 it'd always been including Cooper DeGine with the corners. And it occurred to me when I was saying, I was like, no, like, I need to put it with the safeties. And then when I felt good about having the safeties as I had them, I was like, oh yeah, it actually belongs in that group now. So, no, I know.
Starting point is 00:57:18 I don't think so. I get that makes sense. There's people in the chat saying, like, how is Calpatero on the team? He's on injured reserve. So if he was healthy, do you think he would have made it over E.J? If he had healthy, yes. I think he probably would have as well based off the rotation, but it was close.
Starting point is 00:57:40 I think it was that those guys were kind of, you know, in the same, running in the same lanes. I think he also just had better camp than him, though. But part of that's because he was injured for the last week and a half or whatever. Yeah. I think I had a good camp. I don't know. Yeah. I think both he and Jacorian Bennett, these could be.
Starting point is 00:57:58 injury settlement situations and then maybe they come back whenever they're healthy um one other young player we haven't talked about a rookie that i think deserves some he deserves from shine yeah michael morris uh coming in and making the team it would have been very easy because you had drew kendall who's first half the bench and willy lamp and having the summer that he did for them to say yeah like we can move on from micha morris he plays he only plays guard so you know like it's not like he's got this great versatility i think the fact that he had as strong of a summer as he did, I think that's kind of said, they felt good about keeping him on the roster over Uar and over, you know, Waru and some of these other guys. I think that speaks to the summer that he had.
Starting point is 00:58:39 Yeah, it's a great point. How many times in the last couple of weeks have we just gone on the show? I like a Micah Morris. Yeah, he's solid. One quick thing before we turn this over. Jonathan Grenard on the active roster, we should just mention that means he's not starting the year on pup. So, yeah, noteworthy. Yeah, it was noteworthy when I said it to two minutes. go. Oh, I'm sorry. I apologize. I know how much you hate that. I'm sorry. Find out more of what I hate on the other side in Bovertide. Cacotterra still on my team. As we discussed, he's on injured reserve. There could be an injury settlement here. Just because he is designated to
Starting point is 00:59:26 return doesn't mean that he will actually pull him back from injured reserve at any point. You get eight of those over the course of the season. And then Tizi Tres. Think about this one. And a generous donation we appreciate that teasy every year there are complete unknowns who break through and become high level starters who is that potential player on this current 53 who can you see becoming a guy if given the chance how unknown do they have to be well he's saying on the on the current 53 so i think if if that is the requirement honestly there's only two guys who come to mind well three i think willie we've talked about like will it could you know willie could be a starting set in the league for a long time
Starting point is 01:00:19 that's a possibility are we saying for this year or down the hour eventually i think i think he means eventually i think okay got it uh can i have drew kendall is he unknown enough that i can i can have him that's fine yeah that's fine it's very interesting because my initial thought was micah Yeah, I was going to say. Michael Morris is the other guy who comes to mind. Yeah. Could definitely be a starting guard. It's a possibility.
Starting point is 01:00:41 In a world in which they move on from Tyler Steen, who's a free agent this year, it's possible that Michael Morris is competing to start next year and wins a job and looks good. The other guy I'm going to say is the guy who we didn't see in the preseason games. And that's Cole Payton, who could become a good backup quarterback who is involved in a Taysam Hill-like way. and like a fascinating player on the roster for the next four years. Yeah, I think that's very possible. Anybody else come to mind for you guys? If Joshua ever were on the roster, I would say him.
Starting point is 01:01:22 He's unknown, I guess. Jeremiah Trotter, Jr. What would be our reaction if Warrie gets claimed? It would be disappointed. I mean, to the level of, like, is it, it's not the same as when Dylan McMahon, because Dylan McMahon remind me for me from wrong he was one where it was uh they kept him on the initial and then cut up the next day no they was that they wait that was that was too hill it was not
Starting point is 01:01:49 it was not case two hill was okay got it was not the next day it was after week one or week two when when they brought back finney curry got it uh which was part of the problem is that they got the order of operations wrong right hmm um Trevor kegan was last year made the initial 53 and then waived and then claimed. Got it. Got it, got, got it, got it. I'll be disappointed if wherever gets claimed.
Starting point is 01:02:19 Yeah, from the Eagle standpoint. Yeah. That's a tough bet to make. But you hope they're right. That would be them getting what they deserve. Hoisted by their own patard. It's uncomfortable. All right.
Starting point is 01:02:37 A lot of people watching live. We are live every day, Monday through Friday at 2 o'clock. Talking birds, giving you this analysis. We're going to hear from Howie Roseman and Nick Siriani tomorrow, and we will discuss that at 2 o'clock. Also, potentially be ready for some emergency pods if the Eagles make any trades tomorrow. Interesting claims.
Starting point is 01:02:58 Let me ask you this question, guys. And by the way, hit the like button. If the Eagles do make a claim in the next 24 hours, what position do you have your eye on? We'll start with you, EJ. Tight end for me. You know, we already mentioned E.J. Jenkins feels a little bit like a placeholder in this initial 53. You know, some interesting movement at tight end today.
Starting point is 01:03:21 So, yeah, I could see them making a move there and, you know, moving E.J. Jenkins off the roster to make space for it. I think tight end is more likely from a signing, not a, and this is semantics. I think it's more like someone established a guy that's been around the block a bit as opposed to a play. they pick up off on waivers. I have not gone through all the cuts yet to like say like, oh, like this would be this we got to watch. But to me, I think that would be like, all right, who is a combo type player, a guy that can help us a blocker, not a pass first player like a Justin Jolie that we
Starting point is 01:03:58 talked about earlier, some kind of combo talent that can impact that position. That would be, that's the spot. That's the one to watch. I would add, I would add safety. If there is a developmental safety, that's one where I could see a claim. a guy to get into the system. Because I also think that Jonathan Jones, as we talked about, he's kind of an easy release,
Starting point is 01:04:18 doesn't go on waivers. You tell him that he's got a spot on your team. He's going to be on the roster week one or week two. He doesn't go anywhere. I think that's a pretty turnkey move. Yeah. Potentially. See more in the chat about Jack Stoll.
Starting point is 01:04:33 I think they could swing higher. Stoll would be fine, but like, you know. I don't know that they, I mean, I don't know that they know other tight ends. exist. Like, I like Jacks, though. He got cut by the Browns. Like, we can, we can name a little higher here.
Starting point is 01:04:49 Pump the brakes on that one. I can officially say I'm not going to keep my crown as a king, co-king of the beats. We got 49. The number is 50. I don't know who won yet, but the number is apparently 50. Is there an outright winner? I don't think so.
Starting point is 01:05:03 I mean, I think the Philadelphia inquires, Jeff Nyberg, had 50. And I think Johnny McGonigle from NJ. or NJ Advanced Media. I think he also has 50. Well, hold on. Let me see. Do you think you're in play? Let me see.
Starting point is 01:05:23 I'm surprised this wasn't like we didn't lead the show with us. Well, I missed on, I missed on Dalton, Chance Campbell, guys who I had on, where I went to are. So yeah, I only had 49. Yeah, yeah, 49. Well, that just means it. How about Nyberg going with the reply all on the submission?
Starting point is 01:05:42 I mean, it's just crazy work by him. It's just insane. He's too young to make that mistake. I am going to be at 49. I'm at 49, too. I'm kicking myself for not having the fourth quarterback over Chance Campbell. That's the one that bothers me because that's not what I believed all summer long. I ended up going not with just three quarterbacks.
Starting point is 01:06:07 So I'm kicking myself on that one. I'm not. Process over results. What do you say, Bo? That just means that how he got. got the roster wrong. That's where I'm out with you. Yeah, but the, but the, but the, but the, but the chance one that, that's how I feel about UR and Waru, especially where I don't feel that way about Chance Campbell. And I shouldn't.
Starting point is 01:06:22 I mean, you're, you're good reporting. I think I let Fran get to me. I'm going to blame friend. Let Fran get to me on chance Campbell. We'll see. So he looks like it looks like on. I mean, I it's objectively, it's not like shocking. Because I got Elijah Moore right and I feel good about that. Oh, you've, you've been the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, high man on on on elage more that's not true which only recently with the three of us i think that's true well i think i was pounding the table that he was he was not going to make the team early in camp but yeah the more the more that we've seen i thought that he probably did do enough that's too bad wait makes no maybe that is maybe that is 50 for me because i was counting a guy who
Starting point is 01:07:12 didn't guys who I had on who did not make it I think it's only three whereu bernard Campbell and which quarterback did you not have on no but I didn't have Dalton we're sorry about guys who were on who were not on I think I think I got 50 then do you know if you understand what I'm saying no I was going to ask I was wrong about Dalton, but Dalton is I didn't, you don't count the ones who you didn't have on. You only count the ones you, yeah, the ones who were on that you had. Right.
Starting point is 01:07:50 Right. And so I did, yeah, so I have 50. I'm in the mix. Okay. I'll take your word for it. God help us. Yeah, how are you, if you missed on four. No, no, I missed on three.
Starting point is 01:08:08 I missed on six, right? You know, three misses on. misses off. Yeah. Okay. I get what you're saying. Do you see what I'm saying? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:17 This is what the people pay for. Yeah. This is what overtime's all about. Oh. Could be coming home. I hope it stays in-house. It's fun that it's been a P.H.O.I. orbit for a year.
Starting point is 01:08:34 Thanks to me. I was using the new math from Morning Duke. It's coming home, baby. All right. All right, good stuff. We were going to be live tomorrow at 2 o'clock. Don't miss that. Stay tuned to the PHA on social channels
Starting point is 01:08:59 for any more information you need to know about what's going on for E.J. And as always, we love you. Like the mayor.
