Hello, everybody, and welcome to the Phaegels show, live,
from the mobile Xfinity studio at Reading Terminal Market.
And presented by Bet365 and Ashley, Bo, Wolf, Fran Duffy, E.J. Smith, tis the season to talk about the birds who have clinched the playoffs and look likely to be the three seed in the NFC, but it's not over yet.
Fran, E.J., Fran, how are you doing?
Doing great.
No, I'm excited to be here once again in Reading Terminal Market.
One of my favorite places to be here in the city.
This is a great day.
DJ, how's it going?
It's going good. I agree with Fran. It's always fun to be here, especially pre-holiday. You get to the butcher, you get something good to eat for today and for the holiday. So it's curious.
What's your meal? We do steaks on Christmas, so I'm going to pop over to some of the butchers in a Reading Terminal for sure.
We got our guy. Yes, Sessie. I don't know if I go poultry. But I honestly, I'm going to get, I'm going to pay him a visit. Maybe I will try to get like some turkey wings or something, you know, just to give them a shout out there.
We got some food coming up here in a little bit as well.
What's your, like, Christmas Eve, Christmas meal?
So my Christmas Eve, we have always traditionally, in our house, we did seven fish dinner.
So, you know, but we're not going to Christmas Eve at my families.
We're going to do Christmas dinner instead.
So my dad growing up, we always did a, it's like a chicken, it's a version of chicken saltamboka.
So he taught me that recipe before he passed, you know, 14 years ago.
So it is pan-fried chicken, rolled up with a little brusetta.
No, you've told me this.
With prosute, sorry, with prosciutto and with mozzarella cheese.
It's a good meal.
It's a good meal.
Yeah, you get the connection.
Yes.
That's what it's all about.
That's right.
All right, plenty to come on this episode here.
Listen, we have heard some feedback from the people about some negativity during the postgame show.
We will talk about that.
We'll talk about that later.
We've done some salt searching.
We'll tell you what we think about that.
That's for the Eagles offense.
We've got to give the Eagles defense.
It's flowers.
But before we get to the focus and the snappy snaps and Jordan Davis of it all, we got something coming?
Oh, beautiful.
Let's do it right now.
L. Mercury at L Mercury, M-E-R-K-R-Y.com.
Check it out.
Oh, my goodness.
Oh, my goodness.
Stuffed churros.
Man.
Oh, my goodness.
Lord, look at this thing.
I don't know if we can do this.
Unbelievable.
I think I know if I can do this.
Wow.
Thank you.
I want to swap.
I want the chocolate one.
Holy so.
We can split it.
I just, you know,
trying to get some variety here.
Unbelievable.
What is going on?
This is nuts.
Thank you.
So what is this one?
Tracella chase.
Espresso.
Espresso.
All right.
There, go for it.
Thank you very much.
Thank you, thank you.
I'm going to do love a chura.
This is literally the best place in the city.
Right here.
Yep.
Mmm, ooh.
Some cinnamon.
Oh, yeah.
The bow eating cam is one of my favorite parts of this.
I have no choice.
Wonderful stuff.
Yeah.
Okay.
Let's give the Eagles their flowers.
And I think it's fair to do that.
I think it is fair to appreciate the magnitude of the accomplishment that we sort of poke fun at the graphic that was up for 20 years on the different broadcast.
about an NFCE's repeat champion
but it does, it takes a lot
to have gone to the Super Bowl
and everything that comes with it
and work your way through a season
which I think that
the way that I would describe this season
and what they have done well
is weather the storm and this whole season
has been about that. They have not played great
for the entirety of the season
but you think about every player on this roster
all the important ones
there have been these ups and downs these storms
that they have all gone through. Jalen Hertz
boy has he weathered the storm two weeks ago people are calling for his job then he has one of the
best games of his career against the raiders and you know he was fine against the commanders but he's
playing well sequin barclay has weathered the storm of not getting the same blocking he's getting
from the offensive line and in that game when they clinch he has two of his best runs of the season
a j brown has weathered the storm of like sometimes his own creation but he's out there making plays
and he's he's ending the season playing at the level that we all expected from him the offensive
of line. They're weathering the storm trying to figure out how to get to this previous
version of themselves. At some point, Lane Johnson will come back. Maybe that will help.
You get to everybody on the defense. I mean, Jalen Phillips, a guy who has weathered the storm of
being on a bad team and coming in to make an impact. Jordan Davis, we will talk about
because, you know, people questioning some of us included whether it was worth picking up the
50-year option for him. And he has overperformed expectations better than anybody else on the
team probably. And the Kobe Dean has really weathered the storm. Even guys,
like a Dori Jackson, Marcus Epps, who you can throw in there,
these guys who have dealt with a lot and been knocked down and gotten up this season.
And so we should appreciate the fact that they are now in contention for the two-seed,
but pretty much locked in.
They're going to get a home game, maybe multiple home games in the playoffs,
and they're in the dance with a real chance.
And in a conference that is wide open.
It is there.
There's a path for them to go on a run and to, again, like try and go,
for another Super Bowl.
And so I think that, to your point,
a team that has fought through adversity,
now it's really about, again,
projecting this forward,
and we'll talk about that
throughout the rest of the show,
is how much of this is sustainable,
how much of this can they count on down the stretch?
Are they able to just kind of flip a switch in some areas
and how much of this are they able to keep rolling?
But, yeah, I think absolutely are well-deserved
in terms of the accolade, you know,
the accomplishment and the gravity of that,
being back-to-back division champs.
So I listened back to the post game,
show on my drive back from
Landover, Maryland. And I hear
what you guys are trying to kind of couch here.
We'll get to that part. Well, no, but
you guys are saying, like, let's give them their flowers,
and I'm going to push back a little bit here
because, obviously, the Eagles are a great
team. They, I mean, to have made
the postseason five years in a row, our friend
Danes, pointed out that that's
the first time it's happened since 2004.
Are you willing to say
our friend to Danes at this point?
I'm always willing to say our friend.
Okay. Yes.
Um, for all the reasons you just pointed out, the resiliency, the talent that they have,
that is why there's the urgency.
And again, to bring up the, they, I'm trying to get through my point in the way.
The loudest crunched foul.
That was really terrible.
For all, you can resist at Chiro.
For all the reasons you just pointed out, again, I'm going to bring up Dane is again.
He talked about the significance of the year after you win a championship.
and the opportunity that you have to do, as Nick Siriani would put it, special stuff, right?
That is why we, that's the frame in which we view this team, the urgency of can they do it again?
Can they repeat?
So I think when I listen to you guys, you know, unpacking the game, you're evaluating them on that scale.
And it's something that Nick Siriani said after the game is that for them, like, winning the division is something to celebrate, but again, they move right on to the other hat, right?
They move on to the greater goals that they have.
So I think that it's, again, he talked about that the standard has risen for this team, the expectations have risen.
So I think it's fair to be critical of the team, even though in the grand scheme of things, like with perspective, you might look back on this season and the run that this team has been on.
And you would say, like, this has been a great historic run for the Eagles.
But like, how great, how historic, that's what's at stake.
So you do.
You view it through that lens.
Yes.
And I think there is a difference between the players who should feel very very.
very good about what they have accomplished versus people on the outside trying to figure out
what comes next for them and whether or not they have maximized the talent that they have.
And not just people on the outside, but people upstairs.
Yes.
I think ownership, front office, like, you're always operating with the big picture in mind.
Okay.
Well, let's get positive here and let's talk about the defense because the defense continues
to be awesome.
And after a year in which they were the best defense in football, they are.
contention to be among the best
defenses in football again this season.
Ninth on the year in EAPA per drive
I'm sorry, fourth on the year in EAPA per drive,
ninth in success rate, but
getting better, trending better.
This was a game in which, I mean,
it's fair to say that they were not super tested
by the commander's offense, but what were your takeaways
from the fuller picture when you dove into the tape?
Yeah, I mean, they just go out and continue to just
do their job, win the down in front of them,
continue, if you're going up against
an inferior opponent, like make them look like
an inferior opponent. And that's exactly what
this Eagles defense has consistently done
over the course of this season.
You go, yes, that commander's
offense, not great right now. You know, you're
dealing with Marcus Mariotto, your backup quarterback,
and then you get to Josh Johnson for the second half,
and you have your third string quarterback in there.
But to me, you look at the defensive line
with what they've been able to do, the coverage, the guys
on the back end continue to show
improved ability to just go out
and execute. Yeah, Dory Jackson got beaten on a couple
plays. You saw Keely Ringo and they're on
the penalty laid, like, all right, those
things are going to happen.
But when I see time and time again,
like Quinyon Mitchell passing things off
to Zach Bond, Cooper DeGine, operating with
Adory Jackson, you know, Reed Blanketship,
working with, you know, Jehad Campbell in the
middle of the field, like all these different things, like
that connective tissue, that constant
communication at the second and third level, that
is the superpower of this defense. And then when you
pair that with this defensive line
that has continued to ascend, you get Jalen Carter
back into the fold. Yeah, I
feel great about the state of this defense right now.
All right. We are going to take a quick break
And on the other side, we're going to get into the snaps on the defense,
including really narrowing our focus into Jordan Davis,
the season that he is having, putting it in proper context,
because he has been awesome and he deserves that praise.

Welcome back to the P.H.O.I. Eagles podcast.
We all crunched some churros during that little break.
Yeah, you guys don't have like this.
To L. Mercury.
Yeah, these are incredible.
Outstanding.
Absolutely.
You guys don't have the facial hair like I do?
Like, this is high risk, high reward.
It's not a flag.
I'm sure both of you guys grow good beards.
You do have some, you got a little, Fran.
Cool, see?
Look at that.
It's a pretty low risk.
You get a couple pieces of sugar on your beard.
It's fine.
Save it for later.
Try to be clean.
Yeah.
It's not high risk.
Save it for later.
All right.
Fran, let's talk Jordan Davis.
Yeah.
You were on it early in the season how well he was playing.
Was this his best game in the season?
It's definitely up there.
I didn't think about it from that context.
I know Greg Olson had said it on the broadcast, I believe.
It's possible that it was.
But to me, like, he was just maintaining this level.
And obviously it popped more in this game.
But just what he's doing at the line of scrimmage as a run defender,
it's as good as anybody in the league.
I was surprised when before the show,
I'm looking up for some Jordan Davis stats.
And I was surprised at how impressive it is.
So on the course of the season, among defensive lines,
lineman. Jordan Davis leads the NFL with 58 tackles against the run, which is very impressive.
And it's already the most run tackles that an Eagles defensive lineman has had as far as Truman
he goes back. And he has made the tackle on 21.6% of the run snaps that he's on.
Love that stat, which is a very high percentage. That is second among the guys who are in the top 20
among those defensive linemen. It's pretty much second in the NFL.
So the top 20 by volume, he has the second highest rate.
Right, got it.
And the guy who was ahead of him is Tommy Toggiye, who is like more of a bit player,
doesn't play on every down.
I like that.
And so then I go, I look, okay, last 10 years.
Last 10 years, Jordan Davis is already among like the 10 best run defense seasons of the past 10 years
when you look at both of those things.
And the guys that he's with are, you know, Snacks Harrison, who did it a bunch of times, who did it three times, A. Sean Robinson, Harrison, Harrison Phillips, Christian Wilkins did it twice, Derek Brown did it. So that's the company he's in. But all of those guys, with the lone exception of one year from Christian Wilkins, we're not affecting the passer at all. And now Jordan Davis is not always on the field on third down. He's got four and a half sacks. Guess what? That's the most sacks of those top 10 run defenses in a season.
with tie with Christian Wilkins.
So it's Christian Wilkins in 2021.
And Jordan Davis this season, the two best seasons of the past 10 years of, like, elite run guys who are also affecting the quarterback.
And to me, the path to Jordan Davis, like, you know, quote unquote, like working out, hitting, right?
You know, obviously there was the, when he first got drafted, it was like, man, like this guy is, he's so big.
He's so explosive.
He's naturally powerful.
Like, imagine what this guy could be.
I think he kind of knew, like, all right, like, he's very much a work in progress as a rusher.
But, Larry, just become an elite run defender check.
Like, he has become that elite run defender.
And now the fact that you're getting some of the,
and some of the, you know, the rush production stuff can be, can be wonky.
But I think that at the end of the day, like, as you said,
he's effective and efficient rushing the passer when he gets the opportunity.
And then doing that on top of being that elite run defender,
that's a great combination.
If you're Jordan Davis's agent, you should clip this and make this the all-pro case.
Because I think he does have a case for it.
I don't know if we'll have the counting stats,
but I think the underlying numbers, like the eye test.
There's no Chris Jones season out there, you know, Dexter Lawrence.
There's more Joe-Jomo season.
I think it could happen.
Moro's going to have, what, 10 sacks in the last two weeks?
I mean, he's already exceeded what I thought he would, what you guys thought he would do,
what I, you know, my over-under.
So, no, but I do.
I think that he's got a case for it.
I just, I don't know if it's, like, flashy enough, like, what he's going to bring to the table.
What I think is interesting, though, is that I think nationally,
the talking
the discussion around
Jordan Davis like last year in the year before
was they all
Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis
the middle of that defense and it was like yeah like
I think you guys are overrating the impact of Jordan Davis
a little bit like there was splash plays and there's just
the consistency just wasn't there
I think now he has kind of risen
to the point where yeah he is well deserved of that
praise from a national standpoint
I think everybody saw before like oh first round pick
and would flash he's playing to that
level now and it's great to see
well let's dive into what it looks
like when he is playing at this level on
the SNAP's friend. Yeah, well, let's dive in here
Lindsay as we take a look at Jordan Davis
and one of the things that I have seen
from him just basically from Jump Street
and again you would see this in spurts over the
course of the early stages of his career but just not
consistently is his ability to play
with full extension, lead with his hands into a block
and just control the down
from SNAP to finish. And you see him here
lined up as a three technique against
Washington and the big thing you're going to see early on
he gets his pads into the guard
and again you get that full extension where you're going to
your arms out and he is in complete and utter control from snap to finish here on this play he
is able to drop his weight he holds off the guard with his inside arm and now he's going to get
off the big thing here and this is what you would see with often with defensive lineman is okay
you could you can be big you could be strong you can hold that hold the point can you get
off and then make a play right do you have that ability to do to quickly and efficiently shed that
block and meet the ball carrier in the hole and he does that all here on this play and you get
him down the goal line. This is actually the touchdown run here
against the commanders where he nearly
stops this on his own.
He's lined up as the nose tackle here
on this play. And one of the
things that I think he's done a little bit better at this
year is playing with really good leverage
because when you're that tall
as a nose tackle, that can be an issue
at times. People talk about pad level.
You can see off the ball.
The guard Cosme, his pads are
quote unquote, lower than Jordan
Davis. But what you see throughout the
course of the down, it's tough to see that, you know,
from when we're looking at screen grabs here.
But Davis actually sinks his weight going into contact.
He drops his weight because a lot of people, again,
you think about pad level,
there are a lot of guys that will bend at the waist
and drop their pads,
but then you lose your base when you do that.
And then you've got no anchor.
So now you're getting tossed to the ground.
You're getting moved off your spot.
Davis does a nice job of sinking his hips
because that's what's most important.
The other people say like low pads,
it's more about just low hips, low base,
the ability to have that low center of gravity.
So here he stands up.
up the guard, tosses him to the side, and now he meets the ball carrier in the hole.
And that's, again, what Jordan Davis has just done at such a high level.
The play before that, you're seeing him again as the nose tackle down on the goal line
and an area where, again, he has really started to excel this season, his block recognition.
Having an understanding before the snap of the ball, hey, this is the way they are trying
to block.
This is the run concept we're likely to see.
Here's what they're going to try and do to try and block me.
The ball is snapped.
This is going to be a run away from Jordan Davis.
But look at where his eyes are.
His eyes are on the guard.
He understands if I'm going to defeat this block,
I've got to have full block attention here.
I have to defeat this guy one-on-one.
I'm going to do that by staying square, not to the ball,
but to the blocker.
Now he's able to quickly bench-press him,
have full vision on the ball carrier,
stays square, locks his arms out.
We talked about the full extension earlier,
and now he gets off the ball,
and he makes the play at the goal line,
so you get that run stuff.
Last play here, where once again,
you see him lined up as a three technique.
And again, this is going to be a runaway.
But look, he's got his eyes on the blocker.
You understand, all right, he's going to come at me.
And he's got, when you have that understanding pre-snap,
now you're not thinking as much after the snap of the ball.
So you can have that understanding.
This is my plan of attack here on this play.
Instead of going right at this guy,
going right into his chest and win with strength,
win with power, he's going to instead say,
I'm going to win with quickness here off the ball.
And I'm going to quickly cross his face,
get into the backfield, shoot the gap.
And now I'm able to beat the block, beat the double team, the tight end.
He's not going to have an impact on Jordan Davis.
He understands that.
I got to beat the guard here on this play, and then he gets into the backfield for a stop.
So I think the big thing with Jordan Davis, you're seeing this more consistently.
The block recognition has improved.
The ability to play with good leverage has improved.
He's always been big.
He's always been strong.
He's always been athletic.
But being able to put that all together, we're seeing it on a more consistent basis down after down.
Awesome.
It's so great to see.
uh just from a young player like to see guys like realize their potential yeah that's very fun to watch
go ahead so this brings about the question beckons the question i always get that one wrong i write it
i write it okay i don't say it well um jordan davis extension eligible jalen carter extension
eligible what are you doing at that position i know what i think i know what i would do it's a good
question i know what i would do i think they're probably just signing them both i think that's what
I think they're signing both.
But then you also have Odimo coming down the pipe, too.
It's tough to put that much money into that position.
I think you go with those two guys.
I think especially because of the intangible effect that Jordan Davis has
in the room with Jalen Carter.
Right.
Not just on the field, but off the field.
You probably feel better about them as a package deal.
You wouldn't justify paying Jordan Davis if he wasn't playing at this level,
but now that he is, again, like, I've said this about Nacobi Dean,
and I think it's, like, doubly true with Jordan Davis.
Like the Eagles don't let impact players at premium positions just walk out the door.
Yeah.
You know, I think that it's going to be, it would be, I think it would really fit what the Eagles are tip,
what they're, you know, what they do to extend him.
I think a different team would consider signing Jordan Davis,
letting Jalen Carter continue to play, you know, you get the fifth year option,
then you can franchise him, you can push that ball down the line,
and then you can maybe assess the Moro Gimo situation.
I think the egos are just going to pay both
the guys right away. I think that's probably
the right read. I still think there's a world
where Jalen Carter just
it lingers because of the way that this season's
gone. But I do think, even
if that happens, you want to keep
Jordan Davis in that equation. I don't think that
you let them walk in free agency. Yeah.
It's a huge swing.
It's a massive transformation
for what we were talking about a few months ago.
And it's also, the eagles deserve credit here because
they made that bet. We, you know,
based on the first three years of Jordan Davis's career,
it was not a good bet, you know, to pay for that level of, you know,
you're not getting that production, and he wasn't playing that well against the run.
So they deserve credit for recognizing that, making the bet.
And Jordan Davis deserves more credit for, you know, being the one to pull it all together.
It's awesome.
It's a great story.
As the graphic said, exercised.
Exercise.
So good.
Somebody asked, somebody messaged me and was like, I thought that they didn't pick up his fifth year option.
I was like, you missed the exercise team?
Yeah.
I always find it, and this goes for Brandon Graham, too.
I do in a little bit
with like Domingo Ryan's
I just I enjoy
like a tenacious
defensive player
who is also just like kind of happy
go lucky
right yeah you know what I mean
it's like a funny juxtaposition
it's a funny juxtaposition
yeah you know Jordan Davis is like you know
taking on 700 pounds at a time
and he's doing it with a smile on his face
yeah there was the uh the screen play to Debo
that went for like 20 yards
he was this close
he was so close
That would have been one of my favorite plays from the game.
Nicopi Dean told me his first memory of Jordan Davis at Georgia's campus is
Nicoby Dean's on a recruiting visit, and Jordan Davis comes into the room with a giant boombox.
It's like playing at full blast, and he's singing and dancing with the boombox,
and it's like you can visualize that.
Yeah, absolutely.
Very fitting for him.
All right, let's take our next break.
On the other side, we'll talk more about the defense.
The hidden key to Cooper de Gene's interception, and Brandon Graham making another play.
appreciating this group as they prepare
for a difficult assignment in Buffalo next week.
That's coming up next on the PHLY Eagles podcast.

Back on the P. H.L.Y. Eagles podcast, Bo, Fran Duffy, E.J. Smith.
And we just talked, we were just talking about Jordan Davis.
And I just got the email from the NFL about the top 10 in Pro Bowl voting.
We don't need to give the Pro Bowl fan voting too much.
Of course. Oh.
Oh, no. Oh, no.
Now, no, we're welcome.
The original turkey here.
Here at Redding Terminal, we've got the Thanksgiving Sammy and the turkey dinner hoagie.
All right, that's the Thanksgiving Sammy.
Oh, baby.
Just going to pass this thing down.
Oh, wow, that's right.
All right, so, Bo, the big thing here is you and I have not eaten lunch yet.
Yeah.
So now the question is, we know he's not partaking in this.
Right.
Do we want to go halvesies?
Because it's Thanksgiving.
I don't do, like, cranberry stuffing turkey sandwich.
Yeah, that's like all my worst.
I want to put a ring on there.
Yeah.
Just make a ring of Thanksgiving food around E.J.
Do we go havesies, or do we just say, all right, I'll have this one, you have that one?
Well, that's not fair.
That's not very nice.
You literally just said, I'm going to pass this down.
Oh, you just want all of this yourself?
I wanted half of that one.
No, you could have half of that.
I thought there was turkey.
I thought you weren't in.
No, it's just the Thanksgiving.
Just this one is the Thanksgiving.
He doesn't like cranberry songs.
Or it's got stuff.
It looks incredible.
It's just not my jam.
Is that the one that makes good to you?
I mean both look excellent
So I'll let you guys decide
But I mean I want to bite of this one
You can have half
Have half but I don't want to have
But then Frank gets left behind
We can go
I was going to say we can go lady in the tramp
To butt here yeah
Like I can eat one butter
You want to go Requiem for a dream on this
I wouldn't eat one end of it
I'm not going to make it all the way down there
So you can have the other end
I don't understand where butt to butt comes in here
There was no reason for that.
Probably not.
I mean, you guys make lewd references on this show every day.
I can have one.
All right, easy lotion, boy.
Smooth operator.
Unbelievable.
I don't even remember what I was talking about.
Oh, yeah, so.
The pro-bo voting.
Jordan Davis, not in the top 10.
Really?
Oh, that's not a good time.
Probo voting.
How many Eagles do you think they're in the top 10 of their position?
Top 10, I mean, top 10 across the entire league.
I want to say,
Jalen Hertz
There are eight eagles
I'm going to have you guys play a game
Go back and forth
naming one but if you get one wrong
You're eliminated
Got it
All right
Fran starts with Jalen Hertz
Jalen Hertz is number nine
Among the quarterbacks
In the fan voting
Sequin
Sequin Barclay is
Number eight
Quinyon Mitchell for two
Quinyon Mitchell
Fran you have been eliminated
I know
What's Cuenon Mitchell is not in the top ten
but what
Cooper DeGine is
okay
among corners
do you have any more guesses
yeah I can keep going
um
Zach Bonn
Zach Bonn is
listed
he is 10th
oh close
to make the top 10
we have failed as a society
Landon Dickerson's probably in there
Landon Dickerson is ninth
Jordan Milata
Jordan Milata is not
oh man I'm out
well Lane Johnson was the obvious one
that we missed
but he hasn't played them any games
games uh he's still in there though lane is eighth yes my lotta is not in there jurgens is in there
goddard is 10th and i'm missing one more got the red zone productions here goddard makes sense i'm
surprised oh this is a very funny one special teams player oh yeah i know this one i saw this one oh no ringo
is 10th i thought lat too erasure is crazy oh my god uh i think that's all of them yeah there you go
All right.
All right, let's break down the Cooper Dijin intersection.
Speaking of the guys who are in the top 10 of the fan voting,
Cooper Dijin makes the big pick, the big pick against Josh Johnson.
What happened on the play?
Yeah, I was excited to see this play just because we didn't see like the full all 22 during the broadcast.
So basically what Washington is trying to do here on this play is that they're going to try
and flood the zone here against this Eagles defense where you're going to try and run a vertical route to the boundary side.
And then you've got multiple routes all.
coming from over from this side.
So you're basically just saying we're going to send four receivers over in that way.
Now, we know that Cooper DeGine is going to end up making this interception.
The targeted receiver is going to be on the backside of this play.
I want to see like, all right, what is it that made Cooper DeGine stay home?
He did a good job of staying disciplined here in his zone coverage responsibilities.
One thing I saw very early, Adore Jackson points out immediately.
As soon as the receiver doesn't try and threaten Adore, he's yelling out and point.
And what I think he's telling to Cooper here is, hey, this guy is staying short.
Make sure you stay home.
Don't allow him to just kind of hang out over here.
And then Josh Johnson is able to find him late.
So Cooper does a good job of just kind of drifting here.
I don't know say he's baiting the quarterback, but you can see he's got his eyes on the receiver,
Burks.
And as soon as Johnson decides, all right, I've got nothing going here.
All these options are being taken away.
Now I'm going to come back to the backside.
and that's where Cooper Dijin is able to just step in front of this and he does a great job of going the other way.
But it all started.
Dori Jackson, really good communication there on the back end with Cooper to make sure they were able to take this home.
Can I, uh, it was a wild throw to attempt.
Yes, yes, very much time.
That is fair to say.
Can I make, I knew I wasn't going to make it this whole show without an Aston Villa reference because Villa beat united and I'm very excited about the team.
To me, like there's this thing that Villa fans will say like a player's been unied because their manager is Unai Emory.
and, like, eventually, like, they just look like a player that plays in that system, right?
I think, like, that is Adori Jackson's, like, you've just been fan Gioed.
Like, like, the recognition, like, because that's, like, one of the things when you look at the Seagull's defense.
I kind of like those take.
Their recognition and, like, the confidence that they play with, especially on the back end, really stands out.
And, like, to see Adori Jackson, like, a guy who struggled, obviously he's, like, a veteran player who's seen a lot,
but a guy who has struggled a lot this season to be, like, pointing stuff out and, like, you know, being that, like,
I guess, like, proactive and, like, understanding the system.
Yeah, I think that's like a, you just got, you got Fangioed finally.
What would, he's opened your eyes.
What would be someone that's digging him out enough?
Now he's, now he's become him.
Well, what would be, if someone is incapable of being Fangioed, what would you,
well, how would you describe that?
Sidney Brown.
That's what I'm saying.
Like, this is how we would say, how we would describe Sydney.
That's, that is where I was going with it.
You've been Sydney, we can't say you've been Brown.
You've been Sidney.
I said we couldn't say it.
I know.
You said it.
You've been Sydney.
You've been Patricia?
Yeah.
Or?
You've been Gannon?
I don't know.
I don't think that's fair to Jonathan Gannon.
Oh, boy.
Here we go.
We got to get out of here on time, guys.
We can't start down this rabbit hole.
All right.
One more play from the defense that you wanted to break down,
which was.
the Brandon Graham sack, and you broke it down a little bit on the postgame show.
Something else came to mind when you got to watch it on tape.
You know what it was is that it's what I tried to point out on the postgame show is really
visible from the end zone copy.
And so just being able to kind of show this again and kind of hammer home the point.
We can go into this now, Lindsay, is that basically what the Eagles are, they come out here
in a five-man front where you've got Jalen Phillips, there's Brandon Graham lined up as a
three technique.
You have Jihad Campbell walked up into the A-Gap.
You have Ojamo and then Jailets Hunt.
And what you're doing, all right, you've got five men,
you're trying to dictate to the defense here,
or to the offense, I should say,
in terms of what you want the protection to be.
Now, Washington, they're still going to slide the protection this way.
They're going to basically keep the running back in
to hold on Jahad Campbell.
If Campbell drops out, which he does,
he is going to drop back into coverage,
then the running back will leak out.
So they're still going to slide the protection in the direction of BG.
Now, BG knows that almost always defensive linemen know
before the snap of the ball,
this is the way that the offense is sliding protection.
You have those cues,
you understand what the calls are.
So BG knows, all right,
the slide is coming my way.
Okay, so here on this play,
he gets off the ball,
and again, you have the center's eyes going this way.
This essentially looks like it's going to be a double team
on Brandon Graham,
but it's really only going to be that if you allow it to be.
If BG rushes immediately upfield,
yeah, he's going to run smack into this guard,
and you have the center working opposite.
So now you've got a double team.
But watch the path that BG takes instead, instead of him working upfield,
well, now he is going to put his foot in the ground and work into the center
and attack that inside shoulder of the center.
So now this guard, he's not going to stay latched on to BG.
He's going to continue the slide.
So he keeps sliding over.
He's like, all right, if BG is coming inside, then I've got to slide outside,
and I'm going to help out the tackle with Jalen Phillips.
So now this becomes a one-on-one for Brandon Graham,
and he's able to just cave in the inside shoulder.
of the center. He's able to get home and impact Josh Johnson. The other big thing here,
though, is that you get that pass off that we saw that I pointed out, where Quignan Mitchell
is going to pass this shallow crossing route off to Zach Bond. Zach Bond is going to intersect
this route. You could see that's where Josh Johnson wants to be able to go with this football,
and the BG is able to get home. So just really good execution across the board there from the Eagles
back seven, but then also BG just showing that wherewithal. All right, they're sliding protection
in my way, this is how I have to attack
this sliding center. So
given the way that
he's playing in this limited sample size
Yeah. When Geel and Carter
comes back, do you think there's still a role
for BG? On pass rushdowns inside? Yeah,
that's the thing. Is on pass rushes inside? Would you rather have him?
Let's say it's 3rd
and 9. Game is on the line.
Geelan Carter is out there. Is
Brandon Graham next to him or is Moro
Ojimo next to him?
I mean, you're probably not
If you're talking purely volume, I guess it just depends on what the rest of his, what his role is the rest of the time out.
You've called time out.
Call time out.
But let's say, like, is BG rotating in often on first and second downs?
Well, that's a, I guess that's.
Like, if he's only going to play, like, five, six, seven snaps a game, you make those high leverage moments.
Yeah.
I think there's something to that.
I think that he's probably offered, I think Ojamo is probably offering more against the run.
Sure.
So if you're saying, all right, Ojamo is going to eat up those snaps and then give you some pass rush production on those early downs.
And we're going to save the high leverage moments for the vet for BG.
There might be something there.
I mean, Brennan's got three sacks in seven games.
Morrow's got five and 15.
I mean, there's a chance that Brennan finishes the season leading the team in sacks.
Don't make me choose.
That's all I want to say about it.
Don't make me choose.
Someone's got to choose.
What do we do?
What do we do?
Oh, you were getting killed, by the way.
That's sci-fi.
It's sci-fi.
Yeah, I...
Dune is Dune, too, is what we're talking about.
Well, Dune in general.
entire universe yeah um this turkey sandwich by the way is delicious so thanks for sharing
turkey it's turkey occasion turkey do i'm not going to hand it over with my half here you

He's going to try, yeah, he's going to lay this on.
And he's going to, oh, yeah, remember that turkey sandwich you said you were going to go?
And I'm not going to feel guilty.
You know the classic, like, Smith and your trip?
It's a, no, that's all right.
It's all right.
Yeah.
Yeah, that's definitely coming both way.
That sandwich looks outstanding.
It's very good.
Okay, anything else?
A big picture from the defense that jumped out to you before we take a break and go over to the other side of the other side.
No, I think just defensively again.
How did a Campbell look without Nicco?
Cambo look good.
There were a couple of reps where I pointed.
I was like, oh, that's good, like, eyes and physicality.
There were a couple of them like, oh, like, man, like, what do you have made this play?
If he was playing more?
Like, there was a dagger route that Traylon Burke's caught.
It was like full extension over the middle of the field where, you know, Jihad was there in the middle.
Quinion almost made the play from coming from the backside again.
Like, that's two in three weeks, I think, where he's kind of read that coming from the backside.
But yeah, no, it's a really good div.
I feel great about this defense.
going into the postseason.
You don't have any real concerns about when they play the best of the best
that they can still play at this level.
Yeah, I think that you, a lot of what we're seeing is very sustainable, in my opinion.
So I think you look at this rush.
I think you look at the way that they're able to communicate and execute in the back end.
I feel, are there going to be plays where, you know, Jackson Smith and Jigba or, you know,
Mike Evans or those guys like make a play against Dory Jackson?
Yes.
But I think at the end of the day, this is a really good unit.
Really quick.
I don't know if we had enough outrage for Quinnian Mitchell not being in the top 10 of Pro Bowl voting.
It's crazy.
Who else is in there?
I honestly, it will upset me to hear that list.
Yeah, no, I feel like we just, I feel like we didn't give this enough because we were playing the game.
Like, it's unbelievable that he's not in the top 10.
That is crazy.
He might be the best corner in the NFL right now.
Well, that's not.
Settled down.
Top, top three.

Oh,
ho,
ho,
oh,
welcome back to the
PHA by Eagles
podcast.
We have a visitor,
a holiday miracle.
Because,
how you doing?
What's up?
What's up?
Brothers,
sad as helpers.
What a day?
We love a running terminal.
What's better than that?
It's fantastic.
How was the show this morning?
It was great.
I mean,
that we love being here.
There's a reason why,
because it's the pulse of Philadelphia.
Right?
Love that.
Holiday.
food, everybody's hanging
around, getting ready
for it. It's a happy place.
You know? Absolutely.
Do the birds
constitute a happy place for you right now?
Birds always are happy place now.
I'm not sure I agree with that.
Sometimes I agree with a little aggrat.
All right, but
so here's my question. I question to you guys.
I'll start off with a question.
So we all agree that
can I get a little on my ear?
So we all agree that
Through content, you look around the rest of the, no doubt.
You look around the rest of the conference and you go, there's nobody you can't beat.
Defense travels, running game travels, like the ranch are good, Seattle's good, I get it.
Do they have a running game?
Is the, is the, can you count on this offense to not go into a long slumber?
Like, their biggest issue are the long slumbers.
It's a very good question
because it is leading into exactly
what we were about to talk about.
Perfect exactly.
Are you serious?
Yes.
Which is your friend, you know, did the work.
And because we were a little bit
tepid after the game
on the post-game show.
Don't soften.
Don't like, don't soften this.
Just say it with your chest.
Be real.
I think people thought we were a little bit too negative.
Really?
People were crushing us.
I saw you.
You know, I was at a party.
I tried to catch.
some of it, I thought you were right.
It's not my fault
if you at home have low standards.
That's not a me problem.
Okay?
If you are fine with them squeaking by
and needing nonsense
and treating the game
like they can't just go out and grab it,
that's fine, good for you.
I'm happy. Enjoy your life.
This is a team that has a Super Bowl caliber roster.
I want them to play like it.
And I don't think that's a crazy thing.
So why before halftime?
Because are they so...
The worst football in the NFL this season
has been every single time the Eagles get the ball
at the end of the first half.
It's unbelievable.
Every single time.
I just don't understand it.
They are the least aggressive team.
I don't understand why you don't want to go out their points.
They're the least aggressive team
until they get a chance to go up 19 with five minutes right.
Oh, well, you know, the chart tells me that it gives us the best chance
to win. Yeah, I mean, you got Josh Johnson in the game. I got to go for two. I mean,
you never know. I don't understand. I just don't get it. Like, you watch this league and you see
teams that they could take 34 seconds and make magic out of, right? Like, 34 seconds one time out,
there's teams in this league that will definitely get a little field goal at the very least.
Not this team. They are terrified of, A, making a mistake.
and what's even crazier is they are terrified of giving the ball back with like a punt
by, you know, like they're scared of doing the thing that they won't take advantage of themselves.
You know what I mean?
Giving the other team, like giving them an extra possession.
Yeah.
I mean, like, where is the giddy up when they get that ball?
What is crazy?
What?
And I, you have a great defense.
Like, their defense, yeah.
Yes.
You still have, Devere, yes, me.
The defense should embolden you.
to take these risks and to be aggressive.
Like you got Houston and even
they got beat up a little bit by the Raiders yesterday.
You got Houston and you got the Eagles.
Yep. I think the Eagles number two.
You should feel great
about this defense and not worry about
we remember Detroit
and Green Bay, right? Like there was
no issues. Right. Exactly right.
Like you turned the ball over
in your own red zone
and gave up a field goal.
They fumbled the ball in the first
play of the game. Gave up a field goal.
It's fine.
No big deal.
You know, I had...
I just don't get it.
Yeah, I had people on across multiple social platforms.
We got to just, you know.
Taking Daynes' success rate stats from after the game and so, oh, this was the third
best offensive success rate, you know, from this season.
Is that banner?
Is that going to be bigger than the Super Bowl banner?
Are they going to hang that in the facility or is that going to go in the practice bubble?
Like, I'm sorry.
They were losing at halftime to that sorry team.
They were up by four, and at the end of the third quarter,
they were up by, they were 14 to 10 against the worst defense in the NFL.
That defense is horrific.
They can't rush the passer, they can't stop the run, they can't cover.
It's a horrible.
It's a horrible defense.
And, yeah, I'm sorry.
I expected more.
And then they pull away when their backup quarterback comes back.
That win meant less than the NBA Cup.
Yeah.
And this is the disconnect, because I do think the players should feel real pride.
This is what I was saying either.
Like, the players should have their chests out.
It is a really difficult thing to repeat,
given everything that happens after you win the Super Bowl,
they deserve credit for, as I said, weathering the storm.
They should feel pride.
I wish that everybody involved in the team
approached every game like they have the pride that they should have.
Yeah, yeah.
Ball said.
Yeah.
I, so with you.
And it's funny, I had the same reaction as you guys did,
which was, all right, like,
you beat that sorry-ass team that lost Mario.
Like, beating that Mario.
And the commanders were winning in Mario.
Exactly.
Don't you think it might be helpful in the playoffs to have had the reps of trying to go score touchdown with a minute 50 left?
I know.
Right?
Like they never do.
They just.
You got to do that in the divisional round?
It's turtle up, conservative.
Ah, man.
When your offense is operating at the clip that they did a year ago, you can live that way because you can count on the fact that, oh, you know what, we're going to score 30 today.
Right.
They have, they have struggled to score 20 for the majority of the second half of the season.
They have to take every advantage that they can, and they just, they just don't.
And so to me, like, when I think, and I think why I get so aggravated talking about this group is that this is not a great offense.
And I think that the way that they want to play insinuates, yeah, we are a finely tuned machine.
No.
They're not a finely tuned machine.
They need to take every advantage that they can, and they just, they do not do that.
And I think sometimes don't understand their goal of this season.
But sometimes, like, you come out with it, like, you know, this is what I want to do for this series.
Like, I never see that direction.
Like, this series, I want to make sure we get Goddard.
Like, you got the commander's defense that leaks yards the tight end.
And there was no Goddard.
But the whole first half, and it was only, only passes to AJ and Devontas.
That's it.
Where's the tight end?
They're the worst.
They're like 29th against the tight end.
and Goddard's coming off of all this stuff
I mean I see nothing designed to go his way
and I think there is also
you know listen in the second half they were clearly
scared of the Jake Elliott thing
and you want to break down this
swing pass to Will Shipley
on third and ten and we can get into the
to the snapshots of it to me look live
like okay we don't trust Elliot to kick
here we're just going to try to set up fourth and medium
and go for it then I don't know
take two shots at getting 10 yards
instead of like setting up fourth and six
and they end up getting bailed up.
But go ahead.
Yeah, really quickly, Lindsay.
Let's just take a look at this shot.
So it's the last one here.
When you're getting to third and long,
and this is something that Dane is actually brought this up on the show.
I believe it was last week.
It might have been the week before where you've got the Eagles play a lot of five-man.
It's called scat protection, five-man protection, especially on third down.
Sometimes they do it out of empty.
Sometimes they motion to it late.
Sometimes they, whatever, whatever it is, five-man protection where you get everybody out into the route.
Now, what they're going to do here on this play, you've got Shipley in the backfield,
and he's going to motion late, and he's going to offer Jalen Hertz a little swing pattern.
But this isn't a swing screen.
You're not asking these guys to block.
These guys are running routes on the outside.
That's basically your checkdown.
But he's also, Shipley, is the hot route for Jalen on this play.
So as you can see, you've got six guys up in the line of scrimmage.
This is a double A-gap, double mug front here from Washington.
And so, yeah, sprinkle a little sugar in the A-gap.
So when you've got those six defenders on the line of scrimmage against a five-man protection,
the quarterback feels hot.
Right.
So now he's like, all right, well, I got to get rid of this ball early on.
So Jalen literally, he drops back.
He's not reading anything out.
I'm immediately, I want to get this ball to my hot route.
And again, this isn't a swing screen.
These guys are running routes.
So now all Washington's got to do, they got to rally and tackle.
And so it's, by the way, they are losing right now.
They're losing to Washington at the end of the third quarter.
And this is a drive that, what was it, a 17 play?
Yeah, everybody's a drive.
By the way,
No question.
You got a fourth and seven.
The play after this, it's fourth and long,
and you get an unnecessary holding penalty,
and then you get the DPI in the back of the end zone
that extends the drive.
So, you know, to me, like when I look at it,
all the success rate stats,
like they fall empty for me in this particular game.
Yes, they were able to get,
they had some early down success.
They avoided third down.
We'll talk about that what Dana is tomorrow, I'm sure.
But to me, when I look at it,
this isn't like sustainable.
Oh, yeah, this is going to work against the Rams
in two weeks.
Oh, this is going to work
against the Seattle Seahawks
or against the Bucks.
This is not sustainable.
This is not something
where I'm looking at.
Like, oh, this is a clear plan
that we are going to be able
to carry with us into the postseason.
And honestly, a lot of the stuff
that we saw the last two weeks
and I'm like, oh, like, they're building on this.
Can they continue to stack this
and show some kind of,
no, to me, what I saw from this game plan
was not like the previous two,
which makes me think those were
opponent-specific game plans
and not that this is our identity moving forward.
and now that that gives me for us.
Well, that's what they do all the time.
This is what frustrates me is that they don't dictate terms.
No.
They don't dictate like, this is what we do.
Yep.
Totally agree.
They're a counter puncher.
You know, fighters, right?
There's been successful fighters that fight off a counter, right?
That's what that's about.
Yeah.
You can't, I don't think you can win that way.
You knew the identity was last year.
They beat everybody up up front.
They had two great old line and a great D line.
And they dominated the line of scrimmage.
That's what they were.
This year, you don't have the luxury of that.
You've got to dictate terms, man.
You have too much talent, too.
The talent should allow you to dictate the terms.
I want to represent the other side because I was in the locker room.
Very quickly.
Very quickly.
I just want to circle back to this play because I just want to put a fine point on it.
The commanders bait Jalen into that.
Yeah.
They're showing six, but they drop one.
They drop one.
Yep, exactly right.
And that's something that Jason Kelsey talked about is if you were going to be predictable
with your protection call.
teams are going to mess with you like that.
They're going to force you to make you think you're hot,
whether you are hot or not,
they're going to try and force those quick.
So if it's third and seven,
you want to throw it to the backfield,
you want to throw it to Will Shippley?
Yeah, cool.
We're going to rally and we're going to tackle,
and that showed up on that play.
All right, go ahead.
So the thing I heard from Eagles players,
because again,
it was an excited locker room.
They had just clinched the division.
And the two things that stood out to me,
there were three things that stood out to me.
The first thing is Seekwan Barkley.
You know, the Eagles offensive line talked about
angry runs from Seekwan.
Seekon said,
I'm running like I'm 2.35.
I'm running with my pad level lower,
trying to run through contact.
Like, let's do like something or nothing here.
Okay.
Sequan's 132 rushing yards.
Is that something you feel good about,
better about, encouraged about going into the postseason?
Definitely better than the film.
Definitely better than courage.
I thought there were some really good
like vertical displacement runs from the Eagles in this game.
There was a play on the opening.
I was the opening series or I guess might have been the second series
where Steen and Juergens double team
Johnny Newton, the second year defender,
and blow him off the ball.
like six yards and I'm like yeah like haven't seen that all season right so that was to me that's that's really good optimistic now they had some they had plenty of runs later that weren't as good it weren't as effective right but to me seeing sequin and we talked about this in the post game show on Saturday the the run that he had you know the touchdown run the one that he had late where he spins in the backfield almost got tackled four yards in the backfield so you know it's not like everything was perfect up front but makes a guy miss and he takes off for 40 plus yards yes that's a good thing well and he was act like he was he was he
He looked.
Yeah.
He loved it, too.
Like, he looked it.
It's great.
Like, that's,
listen, I like Biggsby, and I think he has a nice little role.
But this whole idea that, you know, you've got to split calories.
Come on, man.
Yeah, of course not.
Like Sequins.
Seclan, Seclan.
Yeah, come on.
It should respect to greatness.
I think, I think, you know, if the difference is he pops, he pops one big run a game, that's a huge ad to the offense.
I mean, because, again, because, again, we're not talking about them being an elite.
I do have good news for it.
About them being average.
we've been waiting all day for this
you got you got an uncle Gus
are you ready
Fran has been dreaming
this is exactly
when he woke up today
oh this is what do you want
we got to give the Uncle Gus
all right
oh my goodness
such a heft to it
the right's about to follow
this is the ultimate testimony
I could give
I was going here after the show
I was going to get this
myself yeah
we just going for this
yes we're going to just go for hold on
Let me do a little...
We'll bite in concert.
Cheer here.
There's definitely a portion of the audience that's like the ASMR of this
is just going to knock them off.
Cheers to my boys.
I got, don't worry about it.
Cheers to my boys, all right?
Listen, we got an Uncle Gus G. State.
This is the holidays.
Ready Terminal Market is the greatest.
All right?
I knew you guys would want one of these.
This is Philadelphia, right?
Mm.
Good best.
We look forward to this stuff every year.
Being here in the sole pocket of Philadelphia, what it's about?
Everything you could possibly look for.
Everything you could possibly look for.
I love coming down here.
The best.
Phenomenal.
Thank you, Cuth.
Thank you for setting it up.
Cranie, how would you break this down?
That came with you.
I mean, the seated roll, the Cooper Sharp every time, hits every single time.
But then the steak is top match.
I mean, there's everything about it.
This is, it's one of the best sandwiches in the steak.
The integrity of the bread holds up.
Yes.
You get the,
you get the Cooper Sharp in with the steak,
so it's all,
it's all part of this one,
umami bomb.
Right.
It's not layered.
It's inside.
It's not layered.
It's all as one.
It's all in there.
The onions are perfect.
It's,
oh, it's so good.
E.J.
The bread.
The bread is the key.
And also, if you are,
if you are someone who doesn't like onions on your steak,
I implore you,
have the onions with the steak.
It brings everything
It brings all together, yes, you have to
If you are someone that doesn't like the fried onions
Try it with this one
How do you run the play?
With the cheese steak?
I'm like a
I'll squeeze out some of it in the back
Listen, he's a coach's son
You're a coach's kid
You got to do it
You got to apply the pressure
And then you can tend
Right
These guys have like corrupted me
You're doing it on your own.
No one's putting those words in your mouth.
No one's squeezing that into the back of your throat.
I didn't say that.
Are we?
I'm out.
Was it time, Lindsay?
It better be like you're talking.
On that note, I want to get out of here, boys.
I love these.
It's Lindsay time.
Thank you, Cuth.
I'm using your words.
Well, what I was trying to describe is like,
when you eat the sandwich some of like the meat will come I can't say anything anymore
some of the cheese steak some of the steak will come out from the end of the sandwich
and then you got like the extra at the end that you can go you could do you could go fries
and the cheese steak that's my that's my go to you go you could just go with go with nothing
else you save a little bit of the bread at the end that's what you do when I was when I was
I don't know I don't do that you got to mix it up my my senior project and
high school was, and I don't know how I
talked my teachers into this, but I did like a
I'm going to have all the best cheese steaks in Philadelphia
and we're going to rank them. That was my senior project
in high school. The level
of the level of
the quality of steak sandwich now
compared to, you know, when I graduated
high school, it's say it's not even closed. This would have blown
everything out of the water. What won?
Back then it was
would it be Joe's.
That's, yes.
Joe's. So
previously
the shake stakes over there over in northeast yes the original one yeah the original
on Tarzda Lab that's a once in that state yeah how do you guys feel about the
how much thought have you given to the way that your Santa Hat falls a lot I just
knew I just knew once it was on like it wasn't coming off and so you know I'm happy
with the overall product thanks to Lindsay to to yeah very nice they have a couple
Superchats to get to Alex
Medina says mainly
to Fram but I would like to know
everyone's answer it's his championship
in fantasy does he dare
start Josh Allen against the Eagles this
week
I guess I have no what's your
backup option I know that's
I think you
depending on who else you have
at your disposal I think you
got to dance with who bought you
and it's just unfortunate
I mean you know you know he can run around
It makes a place.
I don't think you can have Josh Allen and not start him.
Yeah, I think you have to.
Against this defense, though, like even if you ignore the fandom side of it,
which might be at play here too.
Right.
It's a good defense.
I think he's still got to do it.
I mean, it really does, like, there is a possibility that you would have a better option, I doubt.
Correct.
If you're listening this far into the show, you need to root against Tyler Warren tonight.
If he does not get like seven fantasy points,
I'm through to the championship for a third year and four seasons.
How many teams in your league?
doesn't count I told you it's like a group it's a tight-knit group of good friends from high school
we don't want to that's fine it's a nice little thing you're doing but it's not real fantasy football
oh here we go who made you the ardor what is what is what is he made himself the arbiter of everything
arbiter I didn't make myself I just became that idiot sandwich with the super chest says is
CHGO going to have to rebrand to G-A-R-Y I don't get it because they're they've talked about
the new stadium being in Gary
Oh.
Why would they do that?
They're not going to do that.
I just, I don't know.
I like a historic stadium.
I don't think they're really going to do that, right?
It's a bluff.
You would hope not, yeah.
But meanwhile, the chiefs are going to Kansas.
Yeah, they're going to Kansas.
Yeah, they're going to Kansas, going from Kansas City, Missouri to Kansas.
I like a historic stadium.
You can renovate an old stadium and make it new, but it's cool that there's like history at these places.
It's less than his, because Soldier Field is not a historic building in my eyes.
It's more about the team should be in the city.
Well, to become a historic building.
building over time that's the point okay super chat from CDP who says when AJ
Brown says out loud he wants to get out of this is there anything he's gonna
miss yeah probably the winning probably the wins yeah probably the wins yeah
it's unlikely that where he goes will have the same level of sustained the sustained
success it doesn't make him wrong for like you know what they know everybody's got
priorities everyone wants what they want I mean yeah it's like you have to have
joy in what you do right
And also, if you're him, maybe you're thinking about your Hall of Fame, your legacy.
Yeah.
And you need the numbers to back it up.
Okay.
Anything else?
I think we sort of unpacked it all with because there.
I think so.
Anything else you wanted to say about?
I had one other thing that I wanted to present and see if it's something or nothing to you.
Okay.
The usage of empty formations.
That was a big talking point after the game.
Nixirani talking about utilizing or taking advantage of the Washington defense being in base so often, right?
Is that something that you feel better about?
Or do you think that's just a one game?
That's a one game thing because Washington decided that they were going to match three receivers with three linebackers.
Okay.
And that's what I mean is like, I don't know how much of what the success that is.
So if we want to point to like, oh, yeah, like this was a really good game.
Like the results were really good.
So we should be really excited about this.
You know, they ran a play the first Devante Smith catch.
It was third and seven.
And he ran it, he caught it six yards.
And then it was fourth and one.
and then they tried to draw them offside.
That play, Washington came out,
and they came out in a double mug front
where they had two linebackers in the A-gap,
and you had a nickel over Devante.
The nickel dropped to the middle linebacker,
and Bobby Wagner, who is like 47 years old,
is running from over the center to get over Devante.
And it's like they completely disguised themselves out of coverage.
I'm like, what are they doing here?
And this is the team that we're excited
that they had a lot of success.
I tried.
Although I didn't think you guys were overly critical.
News from Adam Schaeffer who says there will be no suspensions from the Saturday altercation between the Eagles and Commanders.
Good to know.
I don't think there was suspension worthy necessarily.
No.
I don't think so.
Apparently there's another super.
A couple more super chats that predate me being able to see them.
So Nate Bergey, what would we be saying if the Eagles had not picked up Davis's fifth year option and had the year he's having?
That's a very good point.
Um, I don't, do you think we, I don't think we'd be crushing.
I think we're a process over results podcast enough that we would have said we understood them declining the option, right?
Yeah, I think so too. And the, you know, truthfully, they would probably still just be able to sign him anyway.
Yeah.
But I think, yeah. That's a good question.
They evaluated it correctly. So they deserve credit for that, no doubt about it.
And then the other super chat we have from Matthew Greenwood.
Oh, how are you reading that?
Yeah, it's, he says, below, I can't read the first word.
You want me to read it?
Yeah, sure.
Bills with average QB play, barely beat the Browns.
Broncos got whooped by Jags.
Texan Stroud got out played by Gino.
Lions lost, and Rams gave up 24 points in final 15 minutes to lose to Hawks.
I'm feeling okay.
And here's my thing, because I was talking about this with somebody last night.
I said the same, basically the same exact thing.
It was all around the league.
If this was a one-off, if this was last year's team,
and they just laid an egg, yeah, it wasn't their day, wasn't their night.
That'd be one thing.
But what did we say, like, what did I say?
Like, literally last week, we were talking about this game was this is a good opportunity for them to work on themselves and continue to build positive momentum towards the postseason, you know, try and find that identity, you know, all those things.
And they did not do it.
They did not take advantage of that opportunity.
It just, I don't feel great.
To me, if the defense came out in late neck, I'm, I chalked that up the same way.
But the offense continued to just kind of like, you know, flail in the wind.
I don't feel great about that.
okay and yeah i get you know it's like uh oh they had eight drives and four touchdowns and two
miss field goals like yeah that's fine as we you know one of them one of them is because of a
penalty they're not and they're just not they're not playing that way like i don't know you're
i watch the game i'm not crazy like i say you know like this is where i'm like you guys do the
work both of you do the work so i think you're totally in in i you're you are within your rights
to feel differently than most people because you guys watch more film than just about anybody
getting ready for him we're celebrating a mid-off give me a break anyway we're going to have
fun conversation tomorrow i think what a show are we're going to have tomorrow now listen
schedule for the week we are off wednesday and thursday tomorrow's show you get
mina cons you get the professor you get swooper
And you get the Secret Santa presentations live on the show tomorrow.
Lots to come should be very excited.
Really exciting.
It's going to be a monster show.
I already told Lindsay why I have for Secret Santa.
Yeah, we heard.
You boned it again.
Wait, I what?
Oh, how dare you?
Oh, my God.
What's wrong with you?
Why would you say that?
I'm fine with it.
I'm bad at keeping...
You guys know I'm bad at keeping secrets.
Yeah.
I don't keep secrets.
But it's literally in the name.
Yeah, but that doesn't...
I was about to tell myself again.
All right, never mind.
It's the three of us, Lindsay, Julia, and the professor involved, so...
And a web of six.
It'll be fine.
It'll be very fun.
Is the plan we're going to do that within Swooper?
I believe so.
That'll be fun.
Yeah.
Sounds a little chaotic.
I have an idea.
Okay.
I'll tell you now.
But the problem is that he knows...
He's going to give it away.
I think if you correctly guess who had you after you open it,
you get like five turkeys or something like that.
Okay.
Oh, I like that.
That's fun.
Wait, how am I going to ruin it?
Well, I don't know.
Because you've already shared with one person who they had.
Yeah, but Lindsay's, she's tough.
She's not giving this up like me.
She just took the lock key and threw it away.
The question is, if Lindsay, like, do Lindsay, Julia, and Danes also have agency here,
where if they guess it correctly, they're able to dispense the turkeys however they want.
We can, like, throw it out, like, money.
Yeah.
Lindsay's going to whoever.
I'll print out turkeys and then whoever, you know, you can really.
All right.
I like that.
Maybe to whoever habitually gets you their submissions earliest.
Yeah.
You know?
No.
Danes can do the stats on that for me.
I veto that.
All right.
E.J. still won't send them to me.
That's why I vetoed it.
Lindsay, thank you for the hats.
Yes, thank you.
Good stuff.
Thank you everybody for watching and listening.
We will talk to you tomorrow.
A big show coming your way back in Studio B.
