Welcome in everybody to the P.H.L.I. Eagles podcast, a postgame edition after a gutting loss for the Philadelphia Eagles. We are live from the Xfinity Lounge and we are presented by Toyota, the official automotive partner of the NFL and our friends at Wawa.
My name is E.J. Smith. I am joined by former Eagle Vinnie Curry and BLG, my guy, BLG. That was one of the toughest ways I could imagine you could lose a,
football game. Guys, let's just get right into it. We're going to do this through the prism of the
big takeaway presented by our friends at Xfinity. Let's go around the horn. I'll start with you,
Vittie. What was your big takeaway watching the Eagles lose this game to the Jacksonville
Jaguars on the last second field goal? I'm still heartbroken right now, but if I'm going to go
positive, my biggest takeaway of the game, it was J.C. Yeah. I'm, that was my biggest
take away, you know, what do you have, two sacks, two force fumbles, a couple targets for
laws, and then that big PAD, PAUs he had, the line of scrimmage was huge.
But overall, that one sting.
Yeah?
That one stings, and I much rather watch it here with you guys, because if I was at home,
I'd fight with a punch of a freaking hole in my wall.
This, that one stings.
BLG, big takeaway
A little behind the scenes
I mean we were all like preparing
doing the prep work for what a win looked like there
was not
I'm once again mad the eagle stole
some of Darius's Cooper's thunder
because he has a touchdown catch in this game
look good once again I really want to come on here
and be happy about that but
it's a weird one because I think
the Eagles deserve credit fighting hard
they're missing a lot of guys not only entering the game
but then within the game itself
So I want to give him credit for that, but like he didn't seal the deal.
And the offense in particular, prior to the last drive where they set up the field goal,
which they did a good job there.
Jalen got them in position.
But the four drives prior to that, 15 plays, 10 yards, four punts.
So once again, a second half performance by this offense where forget scoring.
They can't even move the ball at all.
And it's pathetic.
Yeah, to me, I just think about the cumulative week that this.
team has had over the last seven days. You think about the messaging from Nick Siriani coming into
this game. You know, Lane Johnson retires, Cam Juergens gets traded, just the punches kept rolling.
And Nick Siriani tells this team to lock arms, stand up tall and fight through the adversity.
And the Eagles did that today. They battled in this game. You know, you think about, like you said,
Vinny, Jalen Carter, this was to me the best game. Jalen Carter has played in an Eagles uniform.
I know everybody will talk about the Rams game. His impact, he was a one-man wrecking crew.
In the first half, he completely wrecked the Jags game plan.
You think about the home field advantage that the Eagles had in this game.
You know, the Eagles fans were so loud for one of the Jags Red Zone trips.
They basically just nullified that entire drive.
They made a, it was one of the most tangible home field advantages I've ever seen,
and the game wasn't at the link.
It was in London, a place where the Jaguars have obviously played a lot of games at.
And then you look at the game-winning drive set up from Jalen Hertz,
or what we thought was going to be the game winning drive set up by Jalen Hertz,
Jake Elliott hitting the game winning field goal,
what we thought was the game winning field goal.
All of that, only to have a kick return, get out of your hands,
and for Cam Little to hit a 57-yard field goal as time expired.
Just, I like, you look at the whole thing,
you look at the last seven days for this team,
I am concerned about what it's going to look like when they get back from this long flight,
because it seemed like this team gave it everything that they had in this game.
they put themselves in a position to win for a second week in a row,
and they came up short,
and again, it's all of these things that these guys can't control.
Obviously, they can control their performance.
All these guys could have played better.
But to look at the way they've battled in each of the last two weeks,
for them to be all-in-two in those games,
it's a major, major gut punch this early in the season.
Man, I've got to tell you, like, this has had to be at least 1,500 to 700 days
since the Eagles had a losing record.
Like, just don't even feel right, doesn't even sit right.
And that long, long-ass ride home from London,
you got nothing but time to think about it
and punch the back of the seats,
didn't take a nap,
and wake up some more and think about it,
push the back of the seats.
I just, this just doesn't,
it doesn't feel good,
and, man, they got a lot to fix.
But on the bright side,
we were talking about it earlier.
Really one-on-ones look good today.
Yeah.
I thought he stepped in, stepped up big.
The only time that he got moved off.
His little spot is when they had to run games on him,
but you know he had to try to blindside him or get him by the head.
But God damn, this one hurts.
B.L.G, I wanted to ask you about the last kickoff.
Again, there were about 12 seconds left, 11 seconds left in the game.
And the decision, I mean, I'm assuming it was a decision,
not to take the touchback, not to punt it,
or kick it through the back of the end zone.
What did you think of the decision?
And I guess how can you explain how they ended up there,
Especially as I see people pointing out in the chat, this game ended like it started.
You know, the Jaguars had a kickoff return called back, but it was returned for a touchdown.
So the signs were there that there was danger on that Jaguar's kick return.
So I guess what was your take on the decision there?
Yeah, I mean, it's easy to say now.
Definitely don't kick it off.
But I think that should have been in their minds, that opening kick return.
I would like to go back.
Obviously, we're coming off of this without having the chance to rewatch the end of the game
there. I wanted to see that last Eagles drive
and how they managed the clock there.
It didn't seem like they did a good enough job of
making sure the Jags weren't going to have a lot of time back
if they did get the ball back or, you know,
being able to potentially just make that kick
the game ending on Jake's final kick there.
So it seemed like there could have been some mismanagement
that led to the Jags having that chance.
That's a lot of time. Like, that's a lot of time left in the game
with that kicker too that the Jags have.
Yeah, obviously he's got a strong leg.
Absolutely.
Yeah, for me, I do think that this is a fair criticism of Nick Siriani because this is one of his strengths.
And, you know, he had good moments in this game.
Even though it didn't actually get overturned, the fumble call at the end of the first half,
I thought Nick calling the timeout was a heads-up move there.
But the clock management at the end of the game was really tough for Nick Seriati and Jalen hurts.
I think that, you know, there were times where you could couple both of them together.
Obviously, the penultimate drive for the Eagles offense where, you know, Jalen checks it down, costs about 30 seconds,
and then the Jags were able to run it, run down the clock,
or on the punt return, down to the two-minute warning.
Obviously, that is a moot point at this point.
You know, the Eagles came back and they were able to get points there.
But that was another questionable game management decision from Siriani.
I think that, again, it's easy for us to say that it's a decision
to kick it out of the back of the end zone.
But I do think that should be, that you would think that's something you harp on in that situation.
I'll be curious what Nick says.
Knowing who the jack-war kickers is, I ought to damn sure to kick that thing back of the end zone.
Yeah.
Yeah, put everything you have into it, Jay.
Yeah, that's it.
And then just to let the defense go out there for, what, what was it?
It was, yeah, it was like 10 seconds.
Yeah, yeah.
12 seconds or 10 seconds.
Like, I would just let the defense, you know, out there, you know, live the fight that way to go.
Sure.
Side on the sword of the leg of Jacksonville, Jaguadsville, Jaguysville, Goal Kickers.
It's a team for this defense because it was an inspired effort today.
It was, yeah, yes.
I mean, these goal line stops they had.
takeaway.
You know, Mitchell gets us
added interceptions to his game,
some are saying.
I was ready to come in here and give the defense.
Yeah.
You know, my takeaway of the day.
Yeah.
They deserve more.
Man.
The defense deserve more.
I think that's a good point.
I think that's something that we really do need to harp on is that the defense has played
incredibly well the last two weeks.
People will point to the game winning drive against the Rams.
And I understand that.
But, you know, last week they played,
Vic Fangio will tell you, they played over 80 plays because of the
penalties. Today they played 68 official plays and the Jaguars had 13 penalties. So it's 70 plus
plays back-to-back weeks. Vinny, I think you could speak just better than anyone. Like, what does
that do to a defense, not just physically, but schematically to be on the field that much?
If you don't have a, if you don't have a great rotation where you can see that there's a lot of
injuries in that locker room, so the rotation is just not there right now. Yeah. Across the board
for a love of those guys, it could take a toll on you. Take a toll on you. We saw,
late down in the stretch.
JC, he was gassing for air.
Yeah.
You know, but he's playing his butt off
and he's playing his heart out out there.
So we just need guys to, you know,
kind of leap forward and take that step.
I know we keep saying that every week,
but this is the National Football League.
At this point, now you've got to take the step or step off.
Yeah, yeah.
I mean, honestly, and we'll see what happens in the next couple of weeks
because I do.
You know, as we close the book on the big takeaway,
presented by Xfinity.
I wonder what the,
what things look like
in the coming weeks with this team.
I think that's a real question to ask.
I think the question that we had
going into this game,
I think we all said if they were competitive
in this game,
that you know,
you feel better about where they're at,
but the way that they lost this game,
you know,
the way that they collapsed
in the final seconds of this game,
two weeks in a row,
I do wonder if there's a rolling impact
as, you know,
what we talked about on the show
earlier in the week,
you know,
Eagles stands for,
extreme angs growing louder every second.
And Vinnie, you know how that building is.
You know that it's not just the external noise.
It is the internal expectations.
Let me tell you.
Howie Roseman, Jeffrey Lurie, both saying in the lead up to this game,
they expect this team to win big.
I think that this is going to be a really uncomfortable week
at the Jefferson Health Complex.
Oh, no, there's no thing.
100%.
There's no thing.
100%.
We all know, chat, you guys know,
Howie is not pleased right now.
And we have seen him make moves.
You know, his resume is all, you know what I mean, is, hey.
He has make moves and shook some stuff up to light some fire under people, you know what.
So I won't be surprised in the upcoming weeks to see how this look.
Yeah, you know, there was a lot of reporting before the week, even from myself included,
that the Eagles don't view themselves as sellers.
And, I mean, it's crazy that we're talking about this because of the fact that they were in a position to win this game.
But, again, I wonder if in two weeks' time,
with the way that things have gone,
if we do start to really start,
really have that conversation.
BLG, you mentioned the second half,
offensive performance.
When you look at it,
I guess what,
what do you think,
Nick Siriani, Jalen Hertz,
Sean Mannion in particular,
what are some of the things you think
that they are going to be answering for this week?
And what are the things you think they want to have back?
The frustrating part is still dealing with the unblocked pressure.
We saw that.
The Jags bring a blitz on the right side late in the game,
was on the penultimate drive.
there, Jelan takes that sack.
That's the kind of stuff where it's not just like, oh, we're dealing with injuries.
It's like, no, you have your guys.
You're just like not accounting for unblocked pressure.
At the eye straight in the league, it's been really bad.
And again, I just want to emphasize, like, that defense just, they deserve better.
One of the touchdowns, the only two touchdowns they give up today is on a fourth down
where Parker Washington makes like incredible one-handed catch.
Like, whatever are they even supposed to do about that?
It's not even like a bad defensive play.
this offense however
you know week after week
second half like it's a real thing
it's not just like a talking but like they just
for whatever reason we don't know
but they go into halftime
and they come out and they just
they're totally getting out coached
can't get a beat on the defense at all
overmatched in every way
yeah the thing that I was thinking
when watching the game in the second half
and we talked about it while we were watching
is the number of possessions
that rack up in the second half
because if I pull up the eagle's second half
drives here. You know, if I look and see how did they close out this game, it is, you know,
it's punt, turn over on downs, punt, punt, punt, punt, field goal. So go up at the end of the game.
But the thing that stands out to me is someone who's followed this team for a long time,
covered this team for a long time, this is an unfamiliar place for the Eagles to be. This is an
unrecognizable team to the extent that there's 1357 left in the fourth quarter and they're
they're leading in this game. And this is where you start to think about how the DNA, and you know
the DNA of the Howie Roseman team, which is you have pass rushers where if you have a one-dimensional
offense, those guys are going to pin their ears backs and they're going to be able to get after the
quarterback. And then you're going to have a run game that can kill games out, you know, that can
have 10-minute drives. We always joke like the 4-minute offense turns into the 10-minute offense.
For the Eagles right now, if you're leading in a game with 14 minutes left in the fourth quarter,
if it's a one score game, you don't feel good about that.
If you have a first down run, you almost feel like, why are you even calling that?
You just had 22 rushing yards in this game.
You know, it's hard to win football games when you cannot sustain drives
and you can't salt the clock away with four minute offense.
And that's where this team is at right now.
And that's crazy because it's like, yo, dude, what do you have?
14 carries as well?
It was averaging 1.1.3, 1.5 a carry.
Yeah, Damien Pierce, 14 yards on 11 carries.
1.3 average.
Yeah.
Why are you guys?
Come on.
Come on.
Come on.
Yeah.
And, you know, they have injuries on the offensive line.
Hey.
But, listen, if I, if I, if we never fought through that before, yeah, I will agree with you.
Yeah.
But I've been part of that.
Yeah.
Y'all, y'all, y'all remember, we've been part of that.
We've been part of the Eagles' offensive line that was at the top of the game.
Then they were saying, oh, they're just young.
They'll get it together.
And then that same young, they'll get it together became the best in the league for years.
Yep.
Right?
that we always had three running backs on the damn roster that was like that.
And there's no excuse of running the damn football.
You run with willing to, you know?
So it just, you ever hear you ever play the game?
And they say that he has this many yards after contact.
I'm like, oh, my man, like, you got to, you got to, this is wild.
Yeah, 22 yards rushing.
It's 22 yards rushing.
All right, we have a lot to get to.
But we are going to be joined by Anthony Gargano,
No, because, live from London, unpacking the game.
Because.
Charlie, get a town and then fly a minute.
I'm just going to clear the floor.
I want to know what you think.
Well, I mean, first of all,
it was the most freaking heartbreaking loss in a long time.
Like, to come back, like, you led the whole game,
you gave up the lead, and then you came back.
See, the outfits came back.
The only thing, guys, listen, I'm with you,
22 yards,
Russ is not going to cover it.
But that line is a shell of itself.
Look who the center is, right?
And the fact that Jalen,
I thought,
played his heart out.
He did what he did to get back in the field goal range.
You relied on your stars.
This is a game that your stars delivered.
Jalen Carter balled out.
Zach Vaughn,
balled out,
Quinion Mitchell,
all three levels on the defense,
balled out.
My biggest question is, why are you kicking it for a chance of return?
That's the crazy part about it.
That's two weeks in a row.
Yeah, I mean, I completely agree.
I'm sure Nick Siriani will be asked about it.
I'm curious to hear his answer.
I mean, I don't think it was a choice.
I think you had the choice at least to kick it out of the back of the end zone.
I know sometimes you'll say, oh, you don't necessarily have the leg to do it.
I think Jake Elliott could have done it.
So yeah, that is a fair question.
And overall, how did you think Mannion called the game, Kaz?
I mean, look, again, you're hamstrung by what you have.
You see that line?
You know who the center is.
But you know that you got one starter that you can count on.
Guys are going down left and right.
You know, I mean, you didn't have Sequin.
You got, you lost your, you lost your third string running back.
Who was your starter early in the game?
You know, I mean, I didn't, to me, I didn't have a huge issue.
I mean, I thought you were rag tag.
The fact that they were in this game, to me, I was impressed by that fact alone.
Yeah, so where do you think the Eagles go from here?
Because you're right, I said at the top of the show, this team battled today.
You know, they were way more competitive than a lot of us expected, given the injuries.
But I wonder about the team's psyche coming back from.
London after a game like this after two straight games where you gave yourself a chance to win
and it was a late late game collapse in this in this fashion where do you think the team comes from
goes from here so i'll tell you i i told some people i think everybody's coming back next week
so i think that take care that take care of it so i think barclay's back devonte's back i think
you'll see landed dickerson back in the starting lineup i think with everybody coming back
I think that will help them going into Carolina.
I think that helps the psyche.
Look, you don't want to lose a game like this.
It's a killer, right?
It's a kick in the gut.
It really is.
However, both weeks against the Rams and in this one,
I didn't think they would even be in the game.
So, you know, you get your reinforces back.
This division is not a good division.
Yeah.
You could still win this division,
especially after what happened Thursday night in Dallas.
Yeah, no, I mean, if they can get healthy, you're absolutely right.
This division's still wide open.
You know, it's not necessarily anything.
Again, two games you probably would have expected them to struggle in.
What was the atmosphere like there, because, I mean, you're at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?
You're wild.
I'll tell you, the Eagles fans took over.
Yeah.
There was a, it was unbelievable.
It was so loud on the Jaguars.
they stall on the one drive before they scored the touchdown.
They had the two delay game penalties.
The fans, it was outrageous.
It felt like a home game.
It was deafening here at Tottenham Stadium.
It was all Eagle fans everywhere.
I mean, it was unbelievable.
It was 20, I don't know.
I mean, it was like 85% Eagle fans, 15% Jaguars fans.
It was loud in here.
it was a shame, man, because, you know, going into it, truthfully, EJA, I thought they were going to get blown out.
Yeah.
And I thought it was going to be 24 to 6, like something ugly.
They couldn't move the ball.
And then, you know, you had the one big play, right?
For the touchdown, you had the PI that helped.
And that's, you know, that kept them in a game, the whole game.
Defense, defense was great today.
Yeah.
Yep. Yeah, and I think you saw... Go ahead, go ahead.
No, no, I was going to say, like, to me, Jalen Carter, I mean, he was, he was all over the field.
This is what we expected from Jalen Carter. He had a big tip at the end. He had countless plays.
Like, he just bawled out. He destroyed. He wrecked the, he wrecked that Jaguars' offense for the first three quarters of the game.
Yeah, and then I think you saw the cumulative effect of all the plays that that defense played.
You know, this is two straight weeks, 70 plus plays.
Is that something that you noticed in person, those guys wearing down?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, I mean, you could see it.
There was a couple of plays, in fact, on that last drive where they went and scored the touchdown,
they were starting to pick up some chunk plays, right?
And you could see that was just a product that just being tired.
Guys were getting left and right.
I've never seen E.J., like I covered this team a long time.
the amount of injuries is just uncanny.
I've never seen anything like it.
I mean, it's left and right.
Guys are falling down.
I mean, it's unbelievable.
But ultimately, I got to tell you,
I, again, I take this, I'm not angry.
I can't be angry.
I'm mad at Syriani because I just thought you got to kick it out.
You can't have a return, stupid to give up a return.
And the way they lost was like soul crushing.
It was a really heartbreaking loss.
But as far as the game itself, the entirety, I, like, I walked away being proud of him, man.
I thought Jalen all the stuff against him, he's got nobody, right?
Like, he's got nobody on the line.
Like, you know what that's like having to play quarterback behind guys.
Like, your center was on the practice squad, all right?
I thought he balled out, man.
I thought he was, he had a couple of big throws at the end.
the Goddard, won the Wicks. He made a couple real nice throws across the middle. I thought he played
his hard out, man. I was proud of him. Yeah. No, like I said, this team battled, especially Jalen,
especially given what was around him. A couple of shaky protection calls, but that's going to happen
when you've got guys in spots that have never been there. I wanted to ask you, because it looked
like Jalen on the broadcast. It looked like he was riding the bike between every series. Did you notice
him affected? I know he popped up on the injury report on Friday with a calf injury.
Yeah. It looked like it was crick.
Cramp it up.
Okay.
Gotcha.
Yeah, it looked like it looked like it was cramping up.
You know, it was weird.
The field, it looked like a lot of guys are having trouble with the field.
Yeah, those soccer fields, they're slick.
You know, it's similar to that Brazil surface that they played in.
You know, there's like a lower, it's a shallower root structure, apparently, where it's designed to slide and for guys to be able to move the ball quickly.
It's not necessarily what NFL guys are struggling with.
Do you think that had any impact on the pass rush late?
You know, the field conditions as well?
Yeah, I do.
Because you can see guys kind of slip in.
You see guys having trouble with the feel a little bit.
But again, early on, man, they down there.
Jack Bourne, you know, I was a little worried because he didn't play, he hasn't played,
he had a real good first two games and then he's been all right.
He was great today.
And then, you know, Quinyan, again, I thought the three levels of the defense really showed up.
And, you know, Wix is a player.
He's got a connection with Wix.
Obviously, he's got a connection with Cooper.
You know, you get Sequan back.
You get your offense line intact.
You get Devante back.
I mean, why can't you win this division?
I was going to say, so you think big picture,
zooming out, do you actually feel a little bit better?
As hard as it is to say that after the way they just lost.
You feel a little bit better about the team.
Yeah, two crushing losses, but, yeah, I expected,
I expected ugliness, to be honest with it.
Now, you know, I think it's a product when we talk about that their defense will keep them in games.
Yeah.
And it did today.
Like, you know, I mean, listen, there were a couple of Jacksonville lost.
It's lost.
They're a long snapper.
So, you know, a couple times I thought they should have took three.
Yeah.
But they really, the defense just stiffened up every time it had to.
It balled out every time it was pushed.
And so, yeah, I do.
I take positives.
from it because I know it's a hard way to lose and it's heartbreaking everything else.
But man, you acquitted yourself in a tough way.
They show a lot of resilience, a lot, being down the guys that they're down.
Like, we talk about all the time.
Like, imagine if you're going to take away, pick anybody, right?
Pick the Rams and take away Kieran Williams and Puka, right?
And half their offensive line, they're going to lose.
Yeah, yeah, that's fair.
That's fair.
Before, last one for me, because before we let you go,
did you get a good vantage point of the Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
From at least the broadcast angle,
I was a little surprise he got tossed for it.
Yeah, that's what I was about to say.
Way surprised.
We didn't see a lot of punches being thrown.
Not at all.
I was shocked by it.
I thought it was ridiculous.
I didn't like this crew at all.
I thought this crew,
I thought that they were poor.
They didn't have a lot of control of the game.
And I didn't see it.
Honestly, I was sitting.
right. Well, our advantage, E.J., the press area for Tottenham is unbelievable.
It's like right up, you can see where I'm at. This is where we are.
Yeah.
And this is the field, right?
And over there is where, behind me is where the, the skirmish happened.
And it was not egregious. I was shocked they threw junior out. I really was.
Yeah. It was over nothing.
Yeah, I agreed from what we saw
It was an incomplete view from the broadcast
But it didn't look like punches were thrown
It looked like two guys wrestling
I watched the whole thing
I didn't see anything
Yeah, no, not at all
Not a great crew overall
You know, even that fumble
At the end of the first half
That they didn't overturned
They spent 10 minutes looking at it
And they came out and they're just like
The ruling on the field is upheld
They didn't say anything else about it
They gave us no explanation
Right like
You know, I was looking at it
And you're looking at it
And you like did the head hit the ground
Because obviously it was on top of guys right?
Yeah
So did the head hit the ground before the ball came out?
I couldn't really tell.
And then we had the replay here, but it was really difficult to tell.
You got to inform.
And then they called that they picked the face mask penalty.
No, it wasn't a face mask.
But all of a sudden, like that was like, oh, no, no, replay assists.
Well, where's the replay assist on the PI?
Yeah, I couldn't agree more.
All right, because we're going to let you go hit the town on London,
go back to Pass the Yonk Avenue or wherever you're going to go.
Look forward.
Well, Bo's going to be joining.
He's down in the locker room.
Les is here.
We got you covered.
I'm going to work on a big think piece that's going to run in the next couple days.
Bo's got your game coverage.
E.J., you were missed here, buddy.
Yeah, you know, overall, I'm happy about where my life is at,
and that's why I'm not at the game, but you know as a reporter.
Any news?
Any news?
No news.
No news yet.
Knock on wood.
I'm hoping I don't get a call during the post game show.
Knock on wood.
But you know as a reporter, it kills me that I'm not there.
You know, at Nick Seriani's conference right now.
So I appreciate you feeling.
Keep you posted.
Yeah.
All right.
All right.
No, boys.
Let's go.
All right.
We'll talk to you.
All right.
Before we go to break, we do have a quote from Nick Siriani on the decision not to kick the ball out of the back of the end zone and the kickoff.
I made the wrong decision.
I lost us the game.
Correct.
But I think I think that's almost getting too much attention.
I think we need to give more attention to that final drive where they have the
ball like again they could have controlled it to where there was no time right my god lemon goes out of
bounds there on that final drive there yeah situation he's a rookie i get it but like if you're going to
be tough detailed together that seems like a big part of the detail yeah there were a lot of times at
the end of an eagle's drive in that fourth quarter where it was so clear that they were just not
fully up to detail on the situations again we the penultimate drive did not affect the game overall like
we can acknowledge. Although if they score a touchdown there, it does change the game. But the way
they manage the clock in that one, and then that's followed by Parker Washington running on the
punt return, running down the clock to get to the two-minute warning, that is a situation where
if you're Nick Siriani, like, that reflects directly on you. Because that is a time management
making sure everyone is aware of how you need the game to go and how you can manage the game. And to
your point, BLG, like that is another instance where if you're the game management guy, you need to
make sure that you're kicking that field goal with one second left on the clock.
Now, it wraps into something that I said earlier, 22 rushing yards.
You don't have a run game to rely on, and that is how you control games.
But still, I do think it's fair to say that the way that they manage the game down the
stretch, that reflects very poorly on Nick Siriani in particular.
Like, listen, it's like one of those, if the defense knew that the run game wasn't working,
you know, your third street running back just went out.
they they was already
already made them one dimensional
whether we like it or not
and then like you said
they see the reports
that came out on Friday as well
they say you know
Jellin was dealing with a cast
so you know he's not going to take off
like that as well
yeah there weren't some
there were there were some
push push opportunities
that they passed on
it could be the O line
being a group that doesn't work together
but it also could have been
the calf injury to your point me
yeah man so it's just kind of like
like I said
chat I see y'all going on
going off
where I'm saying this but
the end of the day, the Eagles haven't been in this position in a long time.
Yeah, absolutely.
All right, let's take our first break.
On the other side, we'll hear from Fran Duffy breaking down the biggest plays of the game.
And, you know, we'll keep going through some of our big takeaways and go through some super chats as well.
So stay tuned on the other side.

we are going to hear from Miles Johnson.
Real talk with MJ.
He's at Tottenham Hot Spur Stadium.
It has a raw reaction to the Eagles loss.
Let's hear from him now.
The Eagles 100% deserve to lose this game.
100%.
I'm done, bro.
I'm done.
The season is over.
It's over.
It's over.
They are not a Super Bowl roster.
They're not.
They're not.
I was delusional.
I'm done.
I'm done. The offense, this is the worst second half offense in the NFL.
Jaylorx, if you're a franchise quarterback, you win this game.
The defense can't keep bailing y'all out.
They can't keep bailing y'all out.
Special teams are terrible.
Outside Jake Elliott, special teams will play the man.
Nice.
The Jags were begging y'all to win the game.
And you're folded like a launching.
I'm disgusting.
Game for y'all.
On my dollar.
And this is what y'all do?
I'm done.
I'm done.
Yeah.
I mean, I feel for all the Eagles fans that traveled internationally
to have watched that loss in particular.
In that fashion.
Yeah.
It's tough.
It's really tough.
The more I'm thinking about the Nick decision,
the more confused.
Like, because again, you guys, like,
I hope the audience understands.
We come in here,
right after the game, you're still kind of processing some things.
I just, because I'm thinking, well, maybe his idea is, well, there's about 10 seconds left
on the clock.
If you give up a 25-yard completion, they're in field goal range, you can run the clock down
with the kick return.
But the way that your defense had been playing to that point, and the fact that they had
an explosive kick return at the beginning of the game, there's no reason to do that.
So, you know, I have another thing I wanted to say about Nick's comments after the game,
taking accountability right away saying you lost the Eagles the game.
I have said this before when I do EJ's Notebook at the end of the show.
I always keep in mind that Nick has his meeting with Jeffrey Lorry
before he goes to the podium.
More often than not.
Maybe not every single time I can't, I mean,
I wish I knew exactly when those meetings happened.
But usually he has a meeting with Jeffrey Lurie
when he walks in to the podium having already answered
for a lot of the stuff that we're going to ask him about.
And sometimes when he comes out and takes like full accountability like that right away,
I wonder if that was a huge topic.
I mean, I'm sure it was a huge topic of conversation
with Jeffrey Lurie after that game.
Should have been.
Yeah?
It's just so crazy because this is so different
if that doesn't happen, right?
We're coming on the post game show being like,
they fought hard today.
Nick got him to.
Yeah, and Nick gets the credit for that, right?
He said, we talked about locking arms.
It seemed like they did lock arms,
but we can't do that because he made an all-time mistake.
I know today,
post game before the post game
that conversation had to be uncomfortable.
Yeah, and honestly, it's been probably
two very uncomfortable conversations
in the last three weeks because that bears game,
some of the fourth down decisions,
I can't, this isn't reporting.
It's just me having covered the team a long time.
Jeffrey Lurie was probably
very unhappy with some of those fourth down decisions.
Just how you get to them too.
I mean, that's always a big part of it.
And you touched on it there with the end of game
scenario here where I think sometimes
when we have these decisions
with Nick, it's almost like he's
not accounting for the context
that like you're saying, the defense is playing well.
Special team's a little shaky.
So who do you want to put this on at the end here?
And he picked wrong. And he admitted he picked wrong.
Yeah, man, such a tough way to lose
a game. I'm seeing from
our friend Olivia Reiner, a friend of the show,
even as recently as the pregame show,
was reporting that
Zach Bonn said that
the plan going into this game was
to have Jeremiah Trotter Jr. and Jehad Campbell rotate at inside linebacker,
and Trotter Jr. was obviously ejected on the first play of the game.
Does that surprise you that they were going to rotate those guys, BLG?
I know it's something we talked about, but did it surprise you,
it doesn't surprise you to hear that that actually was the plan.
No.
For Vic to kind of telegraph that like he did, and his presser this week,
he was asked if Jeremiah, Trotter Jr. could get more playing time,
and he said, possibly, so he opened the door to that.
I'm curious to see what that rotation would look like.
Like, what are we talking about?
50-50 or mostly
I would have liked to see what that
would have looked like. Yeah, it's an interesting thing
I'll be able to hopefully get some answers in the coming
week. All right, we got our man,
Fran Duffy, the Duffman,
Franie film, St. Francis.
How are we doing, Fran?
Great, yeah. I mean, look, I was watching,
I was watching with the family and
Jake Kelly hits the field goal and everybody's excited.
I'm like, all right, all right.
Slav time left from the clock here. I've seen crazy.
And unfortunately, it went that way.
Yeah. Can you think of a more gutting way to lose a game frame?
Like you've been following this team a long time.
Can you think of one that, I mean, again,
just like has that emotional toll from such a last second thing?
I mean, we've seen like last second field goals before.
You know, I think of Matt Bryant in Tampa.
I think of the game in Tennessee that we talked about, you know,
in overtime back, what was the 2018.
You know, I've seen these games before.
But to have the highs and lows of this one where you go and you kick the presuming,
the presumed game winner with, you know, under 10 seconds left,
and then to have it taken from your grasp.
That's the one that makes this one a little bit different.
All right.
Let's get to the film, Fran.
Let's start with, I mean, the play that we're all going to be talking about,
the kick return at the end of the game.
Yeah, I wanted to spend some time here digging through
and trying to find some film of the kick return,
because I honestly this was maybe the pivotal point of the game.
And you mentioned that Nick Siriani speaking afterwards to report.
orders has already said that he is taking the blame here on this one, that you know what, like,
I blew the game with the, with that decision to not kick it out of bounds.
I will say that, you know, we've seen coaches this year ripped for kicking it out of bounds
and not taking any time off the clock and giving the other team the opportunity.
It happened to Dallas down in Rio a couple of weeks ago and they lost to the Baltimore
Ravens where Lamar Jackson just needed one play, got them in field goal range, they're able
to kick the game winner. To me, if you were going to kick it, it really does come down to like
the precision of where you're going to put that ball to try and make sure that, you know,
you've got the highest level of probability to get the returner to the ground, right?
And a big part of that would be trying to keep that ball to the middle of the field, you know,
inside seven, eight yards, you know, close to the goal line, right?
Because now you're not trying to kick it out of the end zone.
You're trying to tow that line in between where you're forcing and bleed time off the clock
while giving as many of your potential 11 tacklers an opportunity to get this ball.
Now, we'll go to the tape here on this play.
You can see the Eagles, they kick this ball off, and the ball is going to be caught right here at the seven-yard line,
but you can see outside the right hash, right hash for the offense.
Now, what that does, essentially, is it kicks, it cuts your entire coverage unit in half.
They are going to try and vice, as you're going to try and constrict those passing lanes,
or those running lanes, rather, for the returner.
But in this kind of situation where you're just trying to get the guy to the ground, I would say like the detail of that,
That is one that will come under scrutiny, I would think.
Now, if we get into what the plan here is for the return,
Jackson's going to double EJ Jenkins here on this play,
and they get a really good double team on Jenkins,
essentially removing him from the action.
You're going to get one-on-one here for Ebba Cady.
He ends up getting blocked.
You're going to get Jonathan Jones one-on-one.
He ends up getting blocked.
The off-returner, he's going to come in.
He's going to block Keylet Ringgo here on this one.
The big one for me is Smile Mondin here.
He's going to be one-on-one as well.
well. And so again, all the rest of these guys, like I'm not expecting any of these guys to be able to make this play in this situation.
And it really, I would say, it comes down to one of the two between Smile Mondin.
You know, I would imagine they want a little bit more oomph here from Evacabee, but then, you know, potentially for Kili Ringo.
But he's got to make sure he's respecting the, he's got that outside contain here.
So for me, I'm looking more for Smile Mondin here to try and see if he can make this play.
He gets held up on the block a little bit more than you'd like.
and you got the seal here,
and now you've got plenty of room.
Now it's just one-on-one with the kicker.
And he's going to,
the returner's going to make the kicker miss
basically every time here.
And so he ends up return this back inside the 40-yard line.
As we know, the Eagles end up losing the game.
To me, I can accept the decision about not kicking the touchback,
which is good.
We've seen it go the other way multiple times this year.
To me, it is more like if you are going to kick it and allow the return,
you've got to be precise with,
where you're going to put, especially given the fact that you saw Jacksonville get a long
return on you earlier on in the football game. Keep in mind as well, you know, I mentioned that
Baltimore game. Cam Little, like, Cam Little is not a rookie kicker. Cam Little has booted like 70-yard
field goals. This is a guy that's got a huge leg. So, you know, if you did kick the touchback,
it's not like they were going to need 20 yards to get within his range. Like, it would have just been
one completion. So I get the decision to kick it to them, but you got to be precise with where
you play neck ball.
this through the prism of the armchair analysis brought to you by our friends at ashley friend i i know
you don't have the film for the opening one the opening kick return but do you think it was a similar
thing uh from that one yeah that one it's tough because they you know penalty one yes i haven't looked
at the kick but look you're going to you're going to kick it to the sideline at times but it's it's
about like leveraging like opportunity right and saying like in probabilities right and saying like
all right, like if we in this situation where, you know, we really, the last thing we need
is the big return, right?
We're okay with giving up a little bit of yardage, but we can't get gashed for the large one,
that for the big one.
And that one, obviously they did.
And I'm guessing was that Jeremiah Trotter Jr.'s side, the side that had the bus there
or was Trotter on the other side, do you know?
I don't know.
Yeah, it was just, we didn't, obviously, we didn't get great, get great replays from
that one.
Bummer, bummer.
All right, let's dive into the Dallas Goddard.
Mackay Lemon catches on the final drive, Fran.
Yeah, and obviously, look, credit to Jalen Hertz for, you know,
making some of these plays to move the ball, really the only time in the second half.
They're able to do it.
Obviously, we know.
Like all the context that comes along with this.
Now, you know, the Eagles come.
The biggest completion on this to set up a Jake Elliott game-winning, you know,
go-ahead field goal was the completion of Dallas-Goddard here.
and it came, you know, on this play,
where you're going to get the Eagles in shotgun,
two by two set.
Jacksonville, we talked about it, like early downs.
They like leaning into a lot of different zone coverages.
One of them is cover four,
and that's what you get here on this play.
We are going to get two deep safeties,
and you get two deep corners.
You've got quarters coverage,
and you've got one, two, three underneath.
Now, what the Eagles call in this play is fourverts.
So we're going to, we have consistent themes here.
Go back to that playoff loss.
against San Francisco where they, in that crunch time moment, they call four verts against
quarters and they're unable to convert. And there's been a lot written about that and talked
about with that. But you're going to get one, two, three, four verts here for the Eagles. And so it's
it's going to rely on Jalen to be really decisive at the top of this drop because it's not going
to be. It's not likely to be an easy throw. Now, one thing they have working in their favor here,
they do not keep the running back in protection here on this play. Damien Pierce is
actually going to release through the core of the formation, and then he's going to go to the outside,
and I'll talk about what the impact is on that play. Because, again, when you've got quarter's coverage,
one, two, three, four, again, that means you have one, two, three underneath. Dallas does a good job
of crossing the face of that underneath defender. Now, he's working the seam.
Mackay Lemon gets completely locked up here on this play, because now, again, when you've got split
safety, meaning you've got two high safeties here in the middle of the field, you're really working
in the seams. So Jalen wants one of these two receivers with McKinlemon removed here,
it really, this is Dallas got at her bust. And so Dallas does a good job of, you know,
making sure that he's able to uncover. He works up the seam. The pivotal moment here for the
Eagles that works in their favor is that Damien Pierce releases and he's going to drag that underneath
that middle hook defender out of the throwing lane for Jalen Hurts. So when now when Jalen
drops back to be able to throw this football and cut it loose, there's a, uh, you know,
Goddard's got a lot more separation than he would have if the running back was kept in in protection.
So they're able to put this now.
Dallas still takes a shot here because again, you got those two safeties over the top.
Dallas takes a shot, but he's able to sustain through the catch and the Eagles get a first down.
They're in enemy territory.
They're in field goal range.
And at this moment, E.J. was when I texted you and I said that they got this, this should be vertical run.
They should be downhill runs.
And if it's not downhill runs, like it should be like anything in bounds.
Jacksonville's got timeouts left.
You've got timeouts left.
You are trying to bleed clock at this point.
And Jacksonville waits a little bit.
They talked about it in the broadcast.
Oh, you know what?
Why aren't they calling timeout here?
They let about 15, 20 seconds go off.
And then they call, this is a situation now
where the Eagles have the leverage.
And to me, I get like,
all right, we're going to run the ball
and try and bleed the clock out.
That's kind of the way I was looking at it.
If you're not going to do that,
you don't have faith in the run game
to be able to do that.
think there's going to be a negative run, then this should be something, some kind of a gimmee throw
between the numbers to keep the ball in bounds and let the clocker. You want Jacksonville to use
that final time out. So then that way, you have the ability to bleed the clock down and you're kicking
this with no time left on the clock. Yeah, you're spot on. The Eagles come out with an empty set.
And it's like, all right, they should be. And I love this call. We talked about it last week that
when they get into these pressure looks, one great way to go to fight that, to battle against
that is to spread them out. It creates a, you know, it creates a little bit more space for your guys to
throw. You are for your guys to be able to work. More importantly, for Jalen, uh, if it's harder for
them to disguise what their intentions are. If you are Jalen, you, and you've got five eligible
spread out across the width of the formation, well, now you kind of see like where the hole is in the
defense, a little bit easier than you would otherwise. And so the Eagles spread them out. They're running a
quick out from a Kai Lemon. Basically, you've got the receiver on the outside lifting coverage,
but you also have Dallas gotter
wide open over the ball
or essentially over the ball
over to the left hand side
and obviously Jalen is going to throw this
to Mackay Lemon and Mackay ends up going
out of bounds so yeah I'm going to put this on
you put this on McKay Lemon and you can say all right
like yeah you can't go out of bounds here
but don't call the play
that has guys going towards the sideline
or if you're the quarterback
don't throw it to the route going to the sideline
keep this ball in bounce
right so I don't know where that
that break in the communication is
if it was talked about before the snap, we don't know.
But either way, to me, this was where the game was lost.
Like before the kick, you can't stop the clock here if you're the Eagles.
To me, like, this is where this was the biggest mismanagement.
Now, you complete this to Mackay Lemon.
He goes out of bounds.
He stops the clock.
The next play, they run with Damien Pierce.
He loses three or four yards on that play.
Jacksonville uses that final timeout.
If you had kept it inbounds and they were used that final timeout on second down,
instead of on third down, now you have the ability to bleed the clock down,
you call your final time out and you kick the game winner with no time left.
That was where, to me, this is where the game was lost.
It's a great point, Fran.
And, you know, the fact that you could ask yourself,
is this by Kyle Lemon for not getting down in bounds?
Is it Jalen for not throwing to Dallas Goddard?
Is it Mannion for the play call?
To me, I do think that that falls on Nick Siriani at that point.
Because at some point, it's like an feel for the situation.
And I think as the head coach, if you're not going to call plays, having that feel, I think is important in that moment.
Whether it's communicating to McKay Lemon, make sure you fall down in bounds if the ball goes your way, communicating to Jalen.
If you have Dallas Goddard in the middle of the field, that should be your, you're not going to call it your primary read, but something that you should alert to.
I do think that at some point it's like the operation more than just one individual because I'll say what's three or four different people who made that mistake at the end of the day.
Yeah, and so look, after that Goddard completion, like I said, Jacksonville called the time out.
So you had that huddle on the sideline.
Like you had that ability to talk.
And there was an incompletion on first down, right?
So you stopped the clock there with the incompletion.
And then second down after you had the completion of lemon where he goes out about.
So twice you stopped the clock for them without forcing them to have to use that final time out.
And then you run it on third down.
So yeah, an unfortunate way for the offense to go out there.
Great.
I wanted to ask you about one of the plays, I guess we haven't really.
talked about yet which was the
Jalen Hertz miss to Dantavian
Wicks down the field where
yeah yeah yeah he's bring
the blitz and he's just running wide open
is that a situation where
like it's tough it's tough to be like
jail has to throw it better he's facing a blitz
but does he not leave enough air
under the ball does Wix have to lay out
for that more what was your take on that
yeah I'm sure
if this were last year and it was a wide receiver
number 11 there would be a conversation about
a friend I was
thinking that on we was watching it and I said I know one person that would have caught that
you know what it was like there or else to me the um without watching without having
going back and watch the all 22 of that clip um you know to say like all right like was it was
it pacing he's blitz he's he's he's feeling hot there on that one he cuts it loose like it's my guess is
that's more just like a poor timing and unfortunate as opposed to like oh man like you got to make that
make that throw kind of deal but i'll reserve
full judgment until I watch through that tomorrow.
And then, Fran, like, even if they go
max protect there,
the number one receiver was out,
you know, they didn't really respect
the blocking, you know, with the,
I don't know, when you, fourth string running back,
the line, stuff like, I was just like,
ah, man, it was just, it was a hard one.
And I knew that the all-out bliss
was going to come a couple times.
And then, you know, it's just hard to stop
when you've never seen it or been in front of it
or had reputation at it, that was crazy.
Yeah, it was, there were shades of 2023 in this game where,
and I get that they were a little, a little bit limited because of, you know,
Jaylins, you know, if I don't know how dinged up he was, you know,
with that calf, you know, being the late addition to the injury report this week.
But, you know, it was a lot, the answer seemed,
one of the answers for the blitz and those pressure looks seemed to be those wide receiver
screens on third and long.
And that was that, that was the big answer.
are back then, you know, that season, the Brian Johnson year, and the Eagles came under fire
often because that was the, that was the button they kept pushing in those situations.
To me, like, I'd probably not lean into that as much as like, hey, like, let's just kind of
spread out, go empty and let Jaylen kind of play point guard and just be decisive that way.
Because we saw them convert a couple times on those kinds of looks.
Right. Yeah. All right. Let's pivot to the defensive side, Fran.
And, you know, maybe a certain co-host on this show comes up with fun nicknames for.
or his other co-hos, you know,
wear some funny hats from time to time.
Maybe he predicted the next play
that you're going to break down all the way back in training camp.
Yeah, congratulations on predicting
that the Eagles Opera Corner
was going to come up with an interception.
Oh, it was not, though.
You're not going to reframe this.
Congratulations.
This was a bold take when I said it.
It's really not that bold of a take.
But first of all, your bold take was that he was going to end up
what was like four interceptions on the season.
I said he added interceptions to his game.
Let's see the good one.
ridiculous statement. Let's look at the interception here. It was a really well-done play on a number of fronts.
And what we see here from the Eagles in a money-down situation defensively is they are going to send cover zero pressure, where they are going to blitz both linebackers, Jihad Campbell and Zach Bonn.
You have Zach Bond walked up outside of Jalen Carter here over Ojamo here on the left side. You've got Jihad Campbell. He's going to come on a pressure as well.
So you've got one, two, three, four, five, six pressures. That leaves you five.
defensive backs against five eligible receivers. That's a cover zero look from Vic Fangio on this pressure down.
And we talked about Trevor Lawrence has just been money against a four-man rush all season against
non-blitzes, like legendary pace from an efficiency and explosiveness standpoint. So you have to be able to
heat him up in different ways. Jalen Carter was phenomenal. We'll get into one of his big plays
later in the day. But in those not in those blitz situations, you want to be able to make him feel
uncomfortable, get home, impact him as a quarterback. And they're able to do that on this play. Now,
look when you send cover zero pressure right there are a couple different outcomes here you can get
a clean run through we've seen that on the with the eagles offense you can get those of those clean
runners to the quarterback but you also can can force to the offense that hey you know what we are
because they're keeping a tight end in my uh kenny more is one-on-one with a tight end he decides hey
you know what i'm not actually going to blitz i'm going to stay here in coverage but now what
that means is that one two three four five six everybody's one-on-one and it makes sure now
everybody's got to win their one-on-one, and not every blocker is going to win one-on-one,
especially when you go up against a talent and defensive front like the Eagles.
And so the Eagles do a good job.
Jackson will kind of wads this up where you've got a whole bunch of bodies here and it just
becomes a huge wall in front of Trevor Lawrence.
But now that puts the emphasis on the outside rushers, on those edge rushers.
You got to win your one-on-one.
Nolan Smith runs the hoop here, forces Trevor Lawrence to step up in the pocket.
And now you've got a tight-ed one-on-one with an edge rusher.
I don't care if it's not Jayluxon.
I don't care if it's not Jonathan Grenard.
you've got to win your one-on-ones against the tight end,
and you see that Ebukati is able to win inside here,
and now Trevor Lawrence tries to make this throw off platform,
and he's going to try and deliver this down the field,
and then obviously, as we know, it ends up being intercepted.
The Eagles are in cover zero here,
where you've got Quignan one-on-one, you've got the safety,
one-on-one with the tight end.
These guys are going to kind of pass this off.
They do a nice job of passing off this route concept here on the backside of this.
But the Eagles do a good job here in one-on-one.
Quinyon-Mitchell has got zero help,
no safety help in the middle of the field.
You got a crossing route and he makes the decision here where he's not going to play over the top of this.
I'm going to trust that my rush is going to get home.
I'm going to undercut this route and he does a good job of making a play on the football here
and adds interceptions to his game here, at least in the regular season, gets his first regular season pick of his career.
Great call from Vic Fangio, good execution, good marriage of the front and coverage.
Eagles come up with an explosive play.
Great coin by E.J. Smith as well.
All right, the Jalen Carter, the strip sack.
To me, Fran, it was only really off of a half.
I mean, he had the PBO in the second half as well.
So it still had an impact throughout the entire game.
But I think that was his best game in an Eagles uniform.
I know the Rams game in the playoffs a couple years ago is the one we all point to.
I think he was better today.
I think there were stretches in that game where he was single-handedly ruining the Jags game plan.
Single-handedly is an operative.
Oh, yeah.
I have a good teamwork there.
Appreciate that.
But to that point, it did look like it.
I don't, you know, I'll leave the reporting to you guys.
It did feel like it was a different kind of rapper club on there.
Like it sort of like kind of tempered that down where it wasn't a full club on his right hand this week.
And it was just more like heavy taping.
And who knows?
Like if that's the case, like maybe that was all he needed was just to feel a little bit more comfortable
in playing with both of his hands in this game because, yeah, he was, he was dominant from Jump Street in this.
this one. We saw it on the opening drive. We saw that, you know, throughout the course of the first
half especially. I think they, it seems like they gave him a little bit extra attention. I'll
take a look at those numbers and obviously watch the film in the morning there. But here on this
play, this was his first sack fumble of the afternoon. Number one, first and 20. Obviously,
the Eagles were kind of benefited there from a number of holding penalties against the Jaguar's team.
And some of them were against Carter. Carter did draw a couple flags on his own, but going up against
other players as well. So first and 20 here, I like this one subtle adjustment where you're going
going to get, you kind of see that Jalen Carter slides inside the guard here on this play.
And by sliding inside the guard, now this essentially becomes a four-man slide here.
And I remember one of the guys that this initially stood out to me was watching Javon Hargrave.
Hargrave did such an understand, did such a great job.
And Carter does this as well, even going back to his days of Georgia, understanding where
the slide is coming from.
Hey, if the offensive line is sliding from my left side or sliding from my right-hand side,
He's going to be so heavy-handed with that slide.
Well, now I just got to give him a quick O-Lay and let his momentum take him out of the play.
And now I'm going back door and I'm able to make this play.
That's exactly what happens here for Jayland on the door.
You're going to get the right guard, the rookie.
He's going to end up trying to block down on Jalen on the slide protection.
And just watch what Jalen does here.
He's just going to quickly swipe past that, gain the edge.
And now he's home free here.
He does a great job of attacking the throwing arm for Trevor Lawrence here on
this play. The Eagles are in cover three, one, two, three, four defenders underneath. So he wants
initially, Trevor Lawrence, to work over to the left side. Now he's getting his eyes back
towards the backside. And this wouldn't have gone anywhere anyway. But Jayland does a great job
of getting home, attacking that throwing arm. And what's interesting is that the Eagles actually
ran a stunt on the backside of this where Jordan Davis is looping around. Now, Davis, he wins quickly
enough here where he's actually got, his eyes are big. And he's like, oh, I'm going to get,
I'm going to get a quarterback hit here. I don't get many.
opportunities at this. But oftentimes when you're setting something up where it's like, hey,
you know what, like we expect this guy to be able to win one-on-one, that initial penetration,
sometimes that looper, you're there to kind of clean up the action. It's almost like a field
goal block situation. And so I don't blame Jordan here because Jordan's trying to go,
if Jalen did not win, Jordan Davis has a shot at a sack fumble here too. But we see the
balls on the ground and the Eagles had the ability to maybe recover this for a scoop and score
situation, but Jacksonville is able to jump on it.
But a great rush from Jalen Carter, well-executed game there from the Eagles.
Jordan Day was able to get home as well.
Good coverage on the back end, forcing Trevor Lawrence to get off that primary read
and you end up with a sack fumble and a swooper point for yours truly.
Oh, a little flikes at the end there.
Good stuff as always, Fran.
You know, this is, we appreciate the comprehensive breakdowns.
I'm looking forward to tomorrow, 2 o'clock on the PHY Eagles podcast.
You and I will go through the film.
so, you know, we're going to let you
go review, let you
watch the film,
calculate your thoughts, and we'll see you tomorrow.
Sounds good, guys. Talks out.
All right, Franon, that's going to close the book
on the armchair analysis brought to you
by our friends at Ashley.
All right, we're going to take another break.
We're going to hear from, we still have Bo Wolf
coming up from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
We're going to get through some super chats as well.
Stay tuned to 120 seconds.
You know that feeling?
You walk out the door and you start to think,
I remember to lock it,
Is my dog Big P eating the couch again?
Did a certain quarterback release the day of my favorite team's flight to London sneak on board at the very last second?

up early for an Eagles international game, you already know that Wawa's $5
sizzly meal is worth skipping the snooze button for.
Here's how it works.
You pick your favorite sizzly, bacon, sausage, egg and cheese, whatever gets you moving
in the morning.
And you can add a crispy hash brown and grab your drink of choice, hot coffee, ice coffee,
Coca-Cola freestyle fountain drink.
However you like it, mix, I'm personally an ice coffee fan.
Not too much sugar, though.
You don't want to sweeten it too much because the coffee at Wawa is just that good.
And here's the part.
You don't want to sleep on this.
For a limited time, the pancake sizzly is back.
Sweet, but fluffy and stuff with your breakfast favorites.
It's the one everybody's asking for.
One sizzly, one hash brown, one drink.
Everything you need to actually want to get out of bed in the morning, all for just five bucks.
The $5.000 sizzly meal, now available every morning from 5 to 11 at Wawa.
That's my Wawa.
And we are back on the P.HO.I Eagles post game show.
So before we get to the super chats, Vinny, time to hand out the game ball.
Who are you going with?
Remember my, Vinny's game ball, no other than JC.
98, you dominated this football game.
We've been waiting and rooting for you to take over a football game like this.
Two sacks, three TFLs, a pass tip.
Man, you completely dominated this game, and you won the Vinny's game ball.
of the day.
Yeah, it is,
it's sad that they didn't win the game
for a multitude of reasons,
but Jalen Carter's performance today
would have been viewed in such a different light.
I mean, obviously we're still...
I mean, it's just like, damn, man,
like at the end of the day,
it just, that was just the most positive thing
and performances that I watch,
you know, from this Eagles defense, you know,
so far through the season so far.
And if he continues to look this good,
like that's what I think
if you're looking for a positive,
coming out of this game.
If he continues to play at a high level,
like I feel good about this defense.
Yeah, I mean, this was a top 10,
in Vic Fangio's tenure with the Eagles,
this was a top 10 game in terms of success rate.
It was a little bit lower in terms of EPA per drive,
but not too much lower.
And to me, this was like a statement performance
from Jalen Carter leading the Eagles defense.
Zach Bonn had some big plays in this game as well.
Yeah, I just, it's what makes it so tough
that they lost this game.
But yeah, appreciate Vinny's game ball.
Appreciate it, Vinny.
we're going to get to your super chats,
and then we're going to hear from Bow Wolf at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Let's start with, let's see here.
Let's start with our man, Corey Sito.
I know, that's from the pregame show, I think.
Or maybe you did it again.
He said, Ahu, Bo Wolves of London, Ahu, leave Nick in London.
Oh, so he added to it.
I was going to say, that looks familiar, Corey.
That out to Corey.
From Blend in the Legend, he says, hey, Slim, I drank a fifth of vodka, dare me to dry.
No.
It's a good song.
No, it's a good song.
It's a song.
Yeah, Stan.
Do not drive.
I'm going to be in-laws, obviously.
From Benjamin Mind, 2008, you know howie Motto predicted all of this.
I don't know if how he predicted this.
Maybe they're saying the trade, the Cam Juergens trade said that he didn't have faith
that this team was going to be able to win close games.
But I actually, I didn't mind Cousers Outlook, where if they can get healthy, everything is still
in front of them.
Obviously, it's still early in the season.
From Squintstein, there are levels to this, sad face.
To game management, there certainly are levels to it.
And I think we saw at the end of the game, the Eagles cost themselves there.
From Dale Ridgeway, I don't know why I struggled so much with that.
Darius Big Shush Cooper is being held hostage.
Yeah.
This was, it was a fun moment in the game to watch you react to Darius Cooper's touchdown in that first half.
It felt like watching a proud parent.
seeing their child succeed.
He's looked great, been calling for him to play more.
He actually played more snaps than Mackay did last week.
He's great.
Yeah.
How many touchdowns is that so far?
He has four.
He's got four touchdowns on what was six catches at the time.
Yeah.
All right.
Before we get to the rest of the super chats, let's go to our friend Bo Wolf.
Oh, all right, never mind.
We got two minutes before we go to Bo.
Apparently he's getting pressure from the Tottenham's to security people.
They're trying to get him out of there.
All right.
From CNC for life.
His only job is game management CEO coach.
I mean, we said it.
He has to nail that part if that's going to be one of the big things.
And he's not acing that, at least not this season.
Yeah, yeah.
And especially when, there will be people who say like, oh, it's unfair to, you know,
to like hold the decisions against him just because they are going wrong.
That's the NFL, man.
I mean, if you're, especially when, it's one thing when it's like process versus results.
But, I mean, Nick said it after the game.
He costs them the game.
And if you look at it, there have been too many times in the last two seasons where it feels like a Nick Siriani,
fourth down decision or a special team's game management, clock management, something comes back to bite them there.
Do you mind scrolling down here, Lindsay?
From our friend Swearty, $5 super chat.
He said, the offense reminds me of when my grandpa tries plugging in the HTML cable.
You know it should work.
You know he's trying, and you know it's not happening.
Every week after the half, you just are basically like, okay, they're probably not going to do much here and they don't.
Yeah.
All right.
We are ready for our man, Bo Wolf, live from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
And fresh off of the Eagles locker room, Nick Siriani's press conference and Jalen Hertz's.
Bo, how are we doing?
We're doing all right.
What a wild game.
I can't really remember any game like this that I've covered.
The what ifs about it all.
And like the effect of the Eagles crowd on this game was kind of insane.
It adds to the what if nature.
So many wild things happened.
And then all of it gets thrown away based on the last play of the game, last two plays.
Yeah, yeah.
I mean, they battled in this game.
And to come up short, I do wonder if it will have a tangible long-term impact on
team but yeah it's just it's it's it's hard to imagine a more gutting way to lose a game for that team
yeah i mean it was the locker room was dead silent when we first went in there and then the
very beginning like everybody's afraid to even approach anybody you know what those locker rooms
like we can get to it but jordan my lot of described this week as the week from hell and i think
there's probably a lot all right yeah let's get into bow's notebook let's get into your notebook
you yeah you've been pounded the pavement you've been in all of the media scrums and you
can give us the latest from everybody.
Let's turn it over to you here, Bo.
All right, Beau's notebook.
I'm trying to do you justice here.
We start with Nick Siriani saying, as you said,
I cost us the game.
And he was pretty emotional up there on the podium.
And he was talking about the fact that so many guys
went through so much this week.
And they counted on so many guys
who they weren't expecting to count on.
And he cost them the game.
And he said that's the message he delivered to the team.
and that was confirmed by talking to players afterwards.
That's what Nick said.
Now, most of those players said, I hate that for Nick.
You know, it's unfair for him to take all the blame here.
We are players.
We all cost ourselves the game as well.
But objectively, thinking about the way that that game ended,
the decision to kick off instead of taking a touch back there with eight seconds left
and no timeouts, given the fact that they were already challenged depth-wise,
lost more guys on special teams in this game to rely on that unit.
Instead of putting the ball in the hands of the defense,
which obviously played so well in this game,
it is a little bit hard to swallow.
Jake Elliott was asked about it.
He said he wasn't involved in the discussion about what to do.
He just does his job.
And that leads to Jalen Hertz, number two,
who says, ultimately that's not my place.
And this goes to what I actually think is the bigger concern in the game management there,
not the decision to kick off necessarily,
but the way that they handled that final possession,
once they got the first down and were within Jake Elliott's field go range,
to go run to Damien Pierce there and then throw the ball
when you could have drained more clock and made sure that Elliott's kick
was the final play of the game.
That, to me, was a little bit baffling.
And Jalen Hurts was asked about that.
And I don't think he's doing this to throw Nick Siriani under the bus.
But he said, that's not my place.
and I will put my head down on the pillow and think to myself,
what if I had had a larger voice in that moment?
What if I had pushed for something?
And he's going to regret that.
I asked him a little bit more about would he want to have more of a voice there?
And this is where he makes sure that he's not saying that, you know,
he disagrees with the decision necessarily,
but he certainly disagrees and hates the way that it played out.
You know, everybody in the locker room was pretty down about this game.
I overheard one player saying it's going to be a long-ass flight home.
This is like that, that crap sucked, all that stuff.
And then that goes to Jordan Milata, who called this the week from hell.
And we think about what this week has been like for Jordan Milata.
On Sunday morning a week ago, you find out that Lane Johnson is not playing in the game.
On Monday, Lane Johnson retired.
There goes your right tackle, one of your best friends.
He's gone.
On Wednesday, Cam Juergens gets traded.
Okay, there goes the guy you've been playing next to, another one of your close friends on the team.
and then you get to coming over here to London,
and I got to tell you guys,
from talking to guys on and off the record,
they hated that flight.
Like nobody slept on that flight.
Jordan Milata said,
I am so tired right now.
And part of that is because everything he's been through,
but nobody liked that flight.
And yet they came out ready to play,
except for the opening kickoff.
And it was an impressive performance,
given everything that they had to deal with,
aside from the offense in the second half.
and it's just, you can tell that it is draining on this team.
Jalen talking about this team being under 500 for the first time since 2021,
says we just got to keep fighting.
Milana said that he was a little bit encouraged by the way that, you know,
they rallied in this game, but it is hard to think that they can, you know,
come back from a loss like this, a brutal loss like this, the long flight home.
Now, they're going to get some guys back.
I know it sounds like Cus talked about that,
whether it's Defante and Sequin and Lenny Dickerson,
but this one's going to sting,
and it's going to sting for a long time.
Very, very good breakdown there, Beau.
Is he notebook magging me?
Yes.
Excellent job.
I got a few little nuggets here for you, too.
Yeah.
Oh, get him with us.
Before we get to your question.
Jalick's Hunt exits the locker room with a boot on his left foot.
So that's a serious injury.
It looked like a serious injury.
Suffered on the final play of the first half,
but we do know that.
Jalen Kar,
who had that amazing first half and is obviously thrilled to be getting Vinny's game ball
said that he had a smaller cast in this game than he's had in past games and he did feel
like that helped him out a lot. He was going to get an x-ray because he has to get one after
every game, but it sounds like he was encouraged about that. I think I had one more, but I'll
try to figure out what it is and let you guys ask the question. Well, I want to circle back to
Jalen here because, I mean, if I understood it correctly, he was basically saying, like, it's not
my place to question how we manage the end of the game, but when I lay my head on the pillow,
I would like to think about how I could have influenced it more. So you were in the room. How do
you read that answer from Jaylen? I think that it is Jalen being considered about not directly
calling out the coach, but also making it known that he didn't think that they did the right
thing with the ball there. And when he says it's not his place, I asked him like, you know,
and I could have dressed it up really nicely and said, Jalen, you are a Super Bowl MVP and, you know,
a long time starter. Don't you think that it should be your place? You want it to be your place.
But that's not, you know, his role. And it goes to some of the disconnect sometimes between whether
it's the way that the offense is run and design versus whatever else. But I would, you would
think that, you know, Patrick Mahomes or Tom Brady or Josh Allen or whoever in that situation,
they would be more vocal maybe? I don't know. But to me, I was surprised at the play calling
there too. They hand off to Damien Pierce. What are we doing? You're inviting everybody into the
middle of the box. Spread things out. Go empty. Let Jalen take a quarterback draw. Let him do
that. And Dick was asked about why didn't you just have Jalen Neal?
essentially on the play before the field goal.
Drain clocked that way, Jaguars were out of timeouts
instead of throwing like they did.
And he said, well, you didn't want to lose yards.
Well, you lost yards on the handoff to Damian Pierce.
And, you know, Jake Elliott had plenty of room spare on that kick.
I know you don't want to make his job tougher,
but it's probably more important that you make sure
that the Jaguars don't get the ball back.
Yeah, at some point, they have to realize you have 22 rushing guards in this game.
This is what this, you continue to be a terrible success rate team.
for two years now. And, you know, I said at the top of the show that this team is
unfamiliar for Eagles fans. And sometimes it feels like maybe it's unfamiliar for Nick Siriani
because the way that they try to manage games and control games with the run with the running
game in particular, they don't have that right now. So to your point, I think that the management
side of it, like trying to lead on the run game, it's confounding. Jalen was also asked,
Jeff McLean asked him about generally was the plan for him to be more involved in the running game.
was asked specifically about what looked like his own read.
And Jalen was very quick to correct Jeff and say, that's your assumption.
That was not a choice, essentially saying, like, he did not have the option to hand
that ball off there.
And it was, it was like, it was a little bit touchy from Jalen, essentially making it be known
that, you know, it's not, it's not him that is choosing not to run.
Hmm.
Okay.
I think that London flight came to all of them.
London flight, yeah.
So before we let you go, but they didn't sleep.
Before we let you go, I said, you know, I was a little bit worried about the psyche of this team coming off of the way that they lost this game, the long flight back, everything that they've been through.
Being in the locker room, how do you feel about maybe the optimism or the pessimism that may come from what comes out of this game?
Yeah, you know, the sense that I got was more that it was, man, this is going to be a slog that we have to live through.
part of that is like hearing from everybody in their lives about what a brutal loss this was.
Part of it is the like a seven-hour flight home that they've got and they're not going to get
any sleep.
And it's it is it is misery to lose in the NFL, especially in a city like Philadelphia, which we
should get to in a second.
But I did not get the sense that they feel like this is lost.
I think they were encouraged by the way they played today, especially given all the guys
they lost in this game.
It was kind of a crazy effort.
I think it's more about, man, like our lives are just going to be miserable here for the next week and maybe a little bit longer than that.
And just before I go, I do have to say, having been here all weekend, around the city, the Eagles fans going crazy, I don't know that I can remember the fans making an impact on the game like they did today.
Now, part of it is because we had an open press box here.
But this is as loud as a stadium as I have been in on that fourth, on that fourth, on that fourth.
goal stand in the red zone in the second half and the Jaguars had to have, you know, so much
trouble with the snap count. That was all the Eagles fan. It was wild. I can't remember seeing
anything like it. And it was kind of like it was, it was better in a way than the link because
the Eagles fans here were not burdened by the anxiety of being in the link and this team, like
being disappointing. They had the joy of traveling to go with trying to out cheer like the 15%
Jaguars fans who were here.
It was really an awesome atmosphere,
and it is just a shame that it ended the way that it did.
Well, maybe you can introduce yourself as Bobby Coyote to them
when you get on the flight home, cheer him up.
We're going to let you get out of here.
All right.
You know, rest up your arms.
We love you.
We'll see you in a couple of days.
Thanks, guys.
All right, that was Bo Wolfe, the infamous Bobby Coyote abroad.
Great reporting from Bo there.
All right, we're going to take our last break,
And then we're going to get to your super chats and we're going to probably get out of here.
We got a couple leftover thoughts and then we'll get out of here.
So give us two minutes.
We'll be right back.

And we are back on the P.H.O.I. Eagles podcast.
Let's get through the rest of these super chats from DeVella, $79, $10 super chat.
Appreciate the super chat there.
Need a new head coach, kick the ball out of the back of the end zoning, you win.
I think that that is a fair assessment that kicked the ball out of back of the end zoning.
you win. Although I do think Fran made a good point that if you set them up at the 35,
it's probably one long completion. I still think you put the ball in the, you put the game in the
hands of your defense. I still feel that way. Yeah, there's no guarantee they get out of bounds.
They don't need timeouts. Yeah. Right. From Tom Willis, 8798 here, when do they rip off the Band-Aid
and fire Nick? I don't think they would do anything like that in season. And again, I still think
that this team has a runway to challenge for the division, as we talked about.
From LB. 908, the only explanation on the kickoff was Siriani too busy congratulating himself
to think about needing to kick it deep. I'm sure that they considered it. But again, I think that
Nick made a lot of people coming after Nick in the in the super chats here. I understand.
I mean, he said he took accountability there. From John Michaels, $5 super chat, appreciate it.
John, John, what does Nick tangley bring to this team? This is a coaching loss with that kick.
Hands came up in offense, what does he do?
I think we've talked about this falling on Nick's shoulders.
From Tizi Tres, our friend Tizi Tres, he said,
did a substation get built in Philly recently?
Wasn't it you would be a BLG that said that there actually was a substation?
I don't think so, did I?
I think there actually is.
But I think it was also there when the Eagles went to the Super Bowl
and had all of their starters healthy.
I think, you know, injury variance is a thing.
Philly Raj, $15 super chat.
very generous. Appreciate it, Philly Raj.
Agree on the defense and the lackluster offense, poor second half trends.
Worry the coaching staff without an elite roster isn't good enough to solve this.
I think it's a fair assessment, especially with what they are trying to do offensively.
They don't have the horses for it right now.
You got to scheme some things up.
Yep.
Yeah, we see bad teams put up points in the NFL all the time.
You know, we see offenses without much talent.
Maybe not quite what the Eagles had today.
I think that was extreme.
But, you know, teams that don't have a lot of firepower.
still can figure it out. You got to scheme it up. That's a good point. Um, from blend in that,
in the legend, a $20 super chat. Appreciate that. The spirit of triple T continues to haunt this team with
his absence. We need hooky bear tongue, tongue, tongue, are and Cadar, Cadarious Tony to come back and
give their love to this team. Oh my lovely triple T. Where are? My favorite super chat after every
game. Uh, appreciate the super chat there. Uh, from Benjamin again, $3,000, $10, $10.
Super chat there.
Appreciate it.
It's all on Twitter.
Darius Cooper is the Jerry Rice of Travis Fulgums.
Thoughts on the disrespect of our guy, BLG.
Is that disrespectful?
I mean,
the Jerry Rice of anything is a good thing.
I would just say Darius Cooper is more real
than Travis Fulgum to me,
in part because like part of the Darius Cooper mold is like he's a dirty work guy.
And Travis Fulgum was like not the dirty work guy.
And effort was kind of a question there.
He was like,
Travis Fulgum is like the A.J. Brown of,
help me out here give me somebody
I see what you're going for
like the diva of like
random receivers to have a couple good games
but I mean shout out Travis Fulgum
he's watching the show he's like what did I ever do to anybody

from what you guys know from in the building
is there a chance Nick is fired this was an
unacceptable loss coaching malpractice
I think we could have this conversation at the end of the season
I don't think that this one game is going to spark something where Nick Siriani is going to all of a sudden be on the hot seat.
It's happened before where, you know, his job has come into real question midseason.
I think he has enough equity to make it through this year.
And I think that there's still enough to play for where I don't think that even a loss this, this glaring where you do, you can put it at the feet of Nick Syrian.
I don't think.
And no NFC is bad as those.
Right.
Yeah.
I think that this, all of the things we heard from Howie and Jeffrey Lurie a few days ago were probably said,
with an expectation and an understanding that this was going to be a tough game for them,
they probably wouldn't come out with a win.
So I don't, I know it was an ugly loss.
I don't think Nick's job security is a topic yet.
No, but I do think Jeffrey Lurie is frustrated.
Like a lot of fans are.
I don't think it's just like, oh, Nick's safe no matter what.
Like, ultimately, like, no, he does have to answer for things.
And we talked about it with the conversation we're guessing he had before addressing the media.
So, I mean, you know, we can, yes, talk about that more later in the season.
the pressure that he's facing, including from the owner, is real.
Yeah.
In season, though, it would have to get really ugly.
Sure.
And we're not there yet.
Benjamin, 2008 again, peach emoji.
We don't want to know what that stands for.
I'm staying away from that one.
From Pat Fienis, 93.
$5 super chat.
It's nice that they're ready to play, but at some point, you have to ask if that makes up
for the head coach giving the team no schematic advantage whatsoever.
I think that's a question.
going to be asking at the end of the season if the Eagles don't get where they expect to get
to them where they want to get to. From Rivera, $5 super chat, fire all coaches. See, sell all players
for 27 draft picks. I think Howard Rosen might do it for the 28 draft picks if this thing goes
sideways. But I understand, again, some of like the alarmist nature of the reaction to the game,
but I don't know. I'm not quite there yet. From TZ Trez, again, $20 super chat, every screen
feels like them waving the white flag.
Regardless of injuries, there really are no other quick passes we can try,
slant, hitch, anything.
Either Mannion is terrible.
They don't trust Jalen or it's Siriani's call.
I agree.
The Eagles early game pass, early down pass game has been one of like the biggest
disappointments this season.
The drop back passing game, trying to stay on schedule through the passing game,
they've really lacked in that area.
When you compound that with the fact they don't have a run game they can rely on,
that's how you end up with the second halves that you see.
So totally agree.
All right, where are we at here?
From Benjamin, 2008, he's filling it up today.
Need Bo now more than ever.
That's because he didn't want him.
He didn't want to touch on that piece thing, bro.
Bo would have to touch that.
100%.
Yeah, that is true.
Okay, yeah.
Bo would a touch that for real.
You know, Benjamin, come back in a couple of days when Bo's back and do the peach
emoji again.
Let's see what his reaction is.
I appreciate the super chats there.
Matthew Greenwood says, we had 22 yards of rushing.
Siriani is not the reason we lost the game.
If you can't stop a 50-yard kick return to end the game,
you deserve to lose.
I think Fran made that argument that, you know,
it's about execution on the kick return.
I still feel like you put the ball on your defense.
It put the game in the defense's hands there,
but I don't disagree that, you know,
the fact that they couldn't run the ball
was why they weren't able to run away with this game
when they had to lead in the second half.
Again, from TZ Trez, another $5 super chat.
When I, if we won,
I was going to say Byrds fans were game MVP's.
Totally agree.
Game, gave us the field.
field advantage all the way in London. Crowd noise was a major factor. Completely agree.
$5 super chat from Kratos Maui. Appreciate that. No comment. Oh, okay, so we have one later on.
From Kratos, another $10 super chat. Appreciate that. He says, yo, if the most Negadelfian reporter
there is, Kuz comes out here and says, chill, maybe you should listen. Your fair weather fans
just got it here. So just sit down, especially MJ. We all we got. Okay. I think that, you know,
It's fair to say that we are, that you probably don't need to jump, you know, to say like, oh, my goodness, this team is going nowhere after this game.
But I understand at the same time, it's raw.
It's a tough way to lose.
I get it.
All right.
So we got TZ Trez.
Oh, yeah, we got that one from user, T67 or T6C 9M.
He says, that was awful.
The ending in particular, but as a London-based Eagles fan, oh, I love that.
Appreciate you watching the show.
What an incredible weekend.
What a fan base.
Eagles fans took over the stadium, took over the city,
incredible Go Birds.
Yeah, appreciate that.
Well, appreciate all of our international fans watching the show.
Be sure to like the video, by the way, guys.
Gonzalez Gutierrez says,
you should rename this failing up to mimic,
or falling up to mimic Siriani's career.
I don't know if that's fair.
I don't know if that's fair.
All right, from Rivera 30.
Last one here.
Leave Siriani and Mannion in London.
they get a free vacation out.
I appreciate all your super chats.
Be sure to like the video if you haven't already.

You know,
we're getting really close to a follower goal over there.
So P.H.O.I. Sports on Instagram.
Before we get out of here,
you guys have any final thoughts?
Anything that you, that you've been marinating on stewing on?
I mean, just my final thoughts is we get some guys back,
you know, going forward next week.
And, you know, it's trying to strap up again.
And we need a convincing win.
You know what I'm saying?
This is a good team that we play next week.
And, you know, that right there will have all of us.
High five and, you know, and back on the right track.
Absolutely.
All right, before we get out of here, we're going to do the Draft Kings matchup breakdown.
And we're going to do that on the Sunday night game coming up in a couple hours in the Monday night game.
Starting with the Sunday night game, we've got Ravens against the Falcons.
The matchup I'm going to be watching in that one is Bijan Robinson against this Ravens defense
and really a Ravens team overall that I think is honestly one of the top contenders in the NFL,
an exciting team.
But Bejohn, to me, the combination of him and Drake London, one of the most fun duos in the NFL.
You've seen the yardages that they've been able to put up.
And I really like that they're complimentary as well, where Bejohn, you're able to do some things with Bejohn
because you've got a big receiver who can do the dirty work in the run game like Drake London.
And then the Monday night game, Bills versus Rams.
I think you're going to be looking at Josh Allen against Chris Shula,
the Rams defensive coordinator.
We saw Chris Shula had a really good plan for Jalen Hertz a couple of weeks ago,
a really good pressure package.
I'm curious to see how that works against Josh Allen,
who usually you would expect to be able to carve up the blitz.
So, you know, keep an eye on those two games as you're looking at the NFL slate.
And, you know, that closes the book on the matchup breakdown from Draft Kings.

I'll tell you what, man.
A be John.
Remind me of a young little shulma court.
Doesn't he?
He sure does, man.
Oh, it's crazy.
Shady used to be, when we talk about that office a lot,
and when everybody was kind of banked up, he would.
It didn't matter.
I think that's where me personally, from seeing it in person,
you get spoiled.
I watched a guy after contact.
Yep.
like lemonade out of spoiled lemons.
Like, it's crazy.
Have a taste and sweet.
Yeah.
I love to watch.
Yeah, Bijan is a fun player to watch, man.
Definitely vibe with a shady.
We got a buzzer beating super chat from Kevin Wallace.
And while we're doing this one,
we're really close to 200 likes.
If you can hit the like button, we'd really appreciate it.
Are the issues on offense because of the coaching staff or Jalen's limitations at QB?
All the same issues as last year.
I think it's hard to say one or the other indefinitely.
I think a lot of it is, again, due to the fact that they don't have an early down answer.
And some of that, I do think is coaching.
I think that some of it is like, can you scheme guys open?
Can you scheme up something on early downs?
Whether it's play action game, rollout game, or, again, being creative in the run game,
RPO game, there's got to be something.
I think some of it also is the fact that I just don't think Jalen's a quick game quarterback.
He hasn't been like a high-volume passer.
And the drop-back game that we've seen both schematically and from Jalen hasn't been good enough.
It's a good question. Fair question.
My final thought before we close out here is this is a really interesting four-game stretch coming up.
You get the Panthers, like Vinny said, playing well.
Bryce Young has been really good this year.
And that Panthers team has a buy this week.
So you're coming, you know, the Eagles coming off this London trip going against the well-rested team.
That's a challenge as they continue to deal with injuries.
And then it's three division games, Dallas, Washington, New York, right before the buy,
which is then after the buy or right around there, that's when the trade deadline is.
So this little next stretch coming up, I think, is really going to define the season.
Especially to the point you just made about the trade deadline.
I mean, we've got a four-week stretch for Howie Rosen to figure out.
Is this a team that you're going to be aggressive, maybe trying to add to, which would surprise a lot of us at this point?
Or is this a team where you're starting to look at, Morrow Adjomo, Rieckwell and, dare I even say, Sequin Barkley?
There I even say that?
Landon Dickerson.
Landon Dickerson, as we talked about in the pregame show.
Nolan Smith.
Yeah, all these guys that you may not think are going to be there for the next wave.
You know, because I think we all feel if the Eagles struggle in the next four games,
they could take it on the chin for a season, take a lot of dead cap, and then build again.
If these guys aren't players that you envision being part of that, yeah, you start to ask yourself some questions.
And oh, by the way, if they win three of those four, they're at the top of the division most likely,
and you're like, okay, this team, I mean, the headline that I wrote for this game, if that field goal hadn't gone in,
was that Jalen Hertz and Jake Elliott saved the season.
So, you know, it shows you that this thing is still hanging in the balance.
But that is going to do it for us on the PHY Eagles podcast.
We will be back tomorrow.
We got the stuff full slate here.
We got show tomorrow with Fran at 2 o'clock.
We got show Tuesday.
