the PHAY Eagles podcast on a special prime time edition presented by TrueMark Financial Credit Union.
I am Bo Wolf.
I'm joined by Zach Berman, and we are here, Zach, after what you called the last day of school.
But that maybe has lost a little bit of a cachet.
You can explain to us your back and forth with Emily that happened at the Berman household this morning.
But not a lot of schools that include just three days of work.
sure i mean i i think there'd be a lot of kids who would love that right this was the
the last day of the eagles offseason program but the eagles only had one day of mandatory
minicamp um we were only allowed at one oTA during the past two weeks uh in the old days i mean
there was a time i mean back when we used to build things in this country yeah there was a time
when we would see six, seven sessions during the off-season program.
Nobody wants to work in America anymore.
I love it.
This is, if you call this working, right?
But this is fun.
But, you know, we were in the locker room after practice.
Even on days.
Talking to Anthony Mahangu.
Even on days when the Eagles weren't practicing,
would be down there for this interview or that interview.
We'd be talking to position coaches.
Anti-media bias.
Oh, my God.
Everybody's closing the doors.
Ridiculous.
So, yeah, so there was a time when the off-season program would begin in mid-April.
And you would have, like, steady stream of time at the facility until mid-June.
and then schools out for the summer because in in a previous existence right when we didn't do like daily shows you know when I was at the inquirer it was like all right the last day of minicamp it's like see you the first day of training camp in six weeks and and so that was that was always like the football writer's vacation and unless a player got arrested it was it was like you know you're you're free some people golfed some people
vacationed. Some people did self-inventory. Some people did self-inventory of all their work during the season.
But so I always would say schools out for the summer. So a little tease. We're going to have a YouTube short up a bit later.
The minute recap of what happened. The short is referring to how long the video is not the person doing it, but both are. You didn't need to shoehorn that one.
You get plenty of opportunities for that one.
But in that, I started off with saying,
schools out for the summer.
Now, the joke that Bo was referring to was this was literally my kids' last day of school.
So when we say last day of school, and I'm like,
I know mandatory, you know, it's mandatory weekend.
I realize, you know, the conversation was about the kids last day of school.
They're actually talking about the children, yeah.
Yeah, not my last day of mandatory mini camp.
But the next time we'll be back there, we'll be training camp.
and they will just be going on until January and perhaps even February.
All right.
So it was a newsy day.
We have a lot to get to.
There was a lot of interesting action on the field.
We saw some players who we hadn't seen before.
We have some depth chart notes.
We talked to Lane Johnson and Sequin Barkley and Zach Bonn and Jalen Hertz and Devante
Smith and Nick Siriani.
We've got some nuggets from those.
We've got lots of other stuff.
what we're going to do. We're going to start with our five most important takeaways from
the day at the Novacare Complex. We're going to work down from five to one respectively,
and then we'll give you the leftovers. And just as a tease, I will tell you that one member
of the Eagles organization telling another member of the Eagles organization to s his C very loudly,
that doesn't even make my top five. So we will come back to that. But there's more fun stuff to come.
Zach, your five takeaways.
We want to keep people on the hook.
We're going to save number one.
What was the fifth most important thing that you saw or learned today?
So let's go with Jalox Hunt.
Showed some juice around the edge.
Oh, interesting.
Okay.
Yeah.
I'm trying to go from like the smallest to the biggest one here in terms of my takeaways.
But Jailox Hunt had a play where he beached Jordan Milata.
And he comes around the edge.
and it would have been a sack.
And actually, if you recall,
Lane Johnson even cut off J.O.X. Hunt there,
like, because he was getting a little close to jailing.
But I liked the juice that J.O.X. Hunt showed on that play.
Lane Johnson said after practice, Jalox Hunt's getting bigger.
You can see that.
But Jalx Hunt is, as Vic Van Joe said last week,
is going to have a particular role on the scene.
Like, he's going to play more snaps this year.
I thought on that,
snap in particular, he showed, he showed some juice against one of the best left tackles in the
league. There was another play when he was working against Lane Johnson where it was the defense,
the coverage had done a very good job, and Jalen was scrambling around, and Jalick's Hunt was there
for what would have been a sack, we're at a real game, and then he pulled off. I think the context that's
important here is Nolan Smith is not practicing in these drills. And so Jailix Hunt is the top edge rusher.
and we have seen him work on both sides,
which is not a huge surprise,
but we saw him primarily on the right side as a rookie.
He took plenty of reps on the left side over the past month,
the three practices that we have seen.
I don't generally think it's necessarily indicative of seeing a defensive end in the spring.
They're not in pads.
You're not seeing stuff.
But I do think that Jalick Sunt has looked apart more so than the other edge guys
in the few snaps that we've seen them play.
team drills. Yeah, I would agree.
Okay.
My number five, and this is one where now I did notice you stole this and put it on Twitter
after I alerted you to it.
Yes.
So I would like some royalties from however much money you make from that tweet.
This did not happen in team drills, you know, during the team drills and whenever they
were working as a group on the offensive line, it was pretty much the same rotation that we've
seen all spring. You know, you had Tyler Steen at right guard and Kenyon Green as the third team
left guard and all that stuff, but just a small little nugget worth keeping in mind.
In individual drills, just an individual drills, Trevor Keegan working on snapping with Kenyon
Green to his left and I believe Matt Pryor or somebody else to his right. But so Trevor Keegan,
who really only played left guard as a rookie
has played a little bit of right guard this spring,
but still mostly left guard.
If this is a player who's going to make the team
or make an impact,
him being able to play emergency center
would be interesting.
We'll see how he does.
He's going to prove that he can snap the ball
and you still have Drew Kendall to be likely the backup center,
but just a nice little nugget to keep an eye on.
I thought it was a terrific nugget.
And I will give you whatever royalties gets sent.
They don't do it by tweet or by it's so, you know, but, but yeah, that came from you for sure.
And it is important to monitor because.
I mean, I don't think that we need to be tweeting anything necessarily, but that's a topic for a different day.
For a different day.
Yeah.
So Drew Kendall, I would imagine he's the front runner at center.
But Trevor Teigen was the fifth round pick last year.
and you like to have that that type of of versatility.
If he's going to make the team, it helps to have that.
We, we, if, if Kagan, um, it can, can fill that role and he's on the roster,
he's a better chance of being active, uh, because he don't necessarily burn the spot
on Kendall in that case.
You can use Kegan.
Kegan can play there in a pinch.
And then if, if, um, if for some reason Cam Juergens missed time,
you can make a decision.
You go Lennon Dickerson,
you go Drew Pendle.
But yeah,
I think that's,
that's an interesting development
if you're putting your,
near 53-man roster together.
All right,
Zach Berman,
your number four,
your number four takeaway.
Could be from a press conference,
could be from a depth chart note.
Let's see what you got.
Number four for Zach Berman
on a big Tuesday at the Eagles complex.
Yeah,
so this is,
I did my takeaways here based on practice.
Zach Bond was,
not participating in the 7 on 7 on 7 and the 11 on 11 in the in the in the team drills he said afterwards
general soreness so you saw uh jeremiah trotter junior and smile is he with the northern or
the southern army oh because the general and his general soreness yes i see yeah no i think he's just
generally sore uh so sore in a lot of different areas right maybe he similarly did f45 this morning
So, oh, but we worked that in there. Good for you. Good for that. Next. Yeah, literally. So, and by the way, I appreciate all the comments that were left about the Tao etiquette. I should say, I haven't, I haven't acknowledged that. I actually didn't see those. Yeah. So Rich Bobby left something on, on Blue Sky. And there was a YouTube comment about it. And generally what the takeaway was was that in F-45, you don't.
don't need to wipe it down, but if you're a heavy sweater, you carry a towel with you.
And you put the towel down underneath you, but only for the heavy sweater.
But you're not, but because it's, it's fast moving.
You go drill to drill.
It's like a Chip Kelly practice.
You're not.
Yeah, that would be tedious.
Yeah.
So, yeah, so, uh, yeah, so, uh, Bond, nothing to worry about there, right?
We, we spoke to him after practice, but Jeremiah, Schroeder Jr. and Smile Mondin as the
linebackers.
And so it's interesting because the Eagles, top three linebackers are not out there.
but I also think it was interesting the way that it worked out where it was just Smile Mondin
and as they are continuing to rotate everybody at safety, they did not rotate anybody else
alongside Trotter and Smile Mondin.
And it did make me wonder if in a world where Jahad Campbell is not ready to play week one
or they don't trust him to play week one, does, because Smile Mondin and Jeremiah Trotter, Jr.
are different types of players.
Absolutely.
Trotter would be your middle linebacker paired with Zach Bonn.
And I think, and that would mean Zach Bonn is the, you know,
the versatile overhang guy.
Whereas I think if Smile Mondin was playing alongside Zach Bonn,
I think Zach Bonn would be the mic.
And so I wonder if it doesn't come down to necessarily,
in a world where Jihad Campbell doesn't play,
who they like better between Trotter and Smile Monton
and rather where they would rather play Zach Bond.
Because you've got two guys who are,
maybe relatively equal, but they play sort of different positions.
It's a good point.
And really what you're looking at, too, is the way Zach Bonn was used when
when Nicobi was on the field last year and the way he was used when Nicole wasn't
on the field last year.
And so Nicole was injured in the Packers game last year.
It's in the Packers postseason game.
So you're looking at those last three playoff games.
Now, Bonn was.
And it's funny because we think of the Zach Bonn experience as, like, you know,
Vic really made so much of this guy who could do a lot.
And yet I kind of think that his best ball came when he was playing next to Orrin Berks and he was in the middle.
It's a good point.
Now, he was just, you know, he was like Bo Wolf and Papa shot.
Like he was on a groove there down, down, down.
Rich Hoffman is way better than me and Papa shot and proved it in Minneapolis.
Or ping pong, bow wolf and ping pong.
But, yeah, but yeah, because I mean, everything, he did turn to gold in the postseason.
but yeah it is worth monitoring that that and smile mondan he he's much longer it's a different frame
he's more fluid in his movement i would say then then trot junior i i can't speak to his instincts
i mean trot junior that's that's kind of the book on him is he's instinctive and but it's it's
definitely a a big topic in training camp my my guess is jihad campbell's ready by then
But we don't know that.
I mean, Vic Fangio said August.
And Cooper the Gene, Cooper the Gene was not put it in the lineup last year until week five.
He didn't return or he didn't start practicing until New England last year.
So that was the second preseason game.
Let's stick on Zach Bond for a moment because I did think that his press conference was interesting in the sense that he talked about, he knows that he is in more of a leadership role.
now and it doesn't come naturally to him he is more of a of a quiet guy now we saw him you know
go up in front of the team the night before the super bowl um you know he was he was a part of that
leadership group um even if he is not per se a captain this year i imagine he will be in the leadership
council you know he is one of the leaders on defense and he's he talked about he has had to sort of
be intentional about okay like i have to act a certain different way and and he's still trying to
figure out what exactly his leadership style is not that
that that is going to necessarily, you know, make them win or lose a couple more games.
But I thought it was an interesting human moment from Zach Bonn, who was always very reflective
and introspective.
But I like that.
And I also thought it was cool that he told the story of he's heard from several, like,
career special teams players this offseason, inspired by his story, hoping that, you know,
they can one day, you know, maybe they're not going to make $20 million a year, but get an
opportunity to start and show what they can really do. Yeah, it's a good point. He even said,
Nick Seriana used his story as an example to the one-year contract players because Zach,
Zach Bond was a one, you know, he signed a one-year deal. If that didn't go well, you don't know
what Zach Bond, you know, you don't know if he's in the league this year, right? I mean,
he changed his life last year, something that we had talked about. And I think the leadership thing
is interesting. And I've, I've probably read too many leadership books over the years that,
that there's not one way to do this.
And I'll say, too, that we can sometimes,
I wouldn't say DFI, but enlarge, like, the vocal,
the alpha personality publicly, if you will,
when you watch the micdub clips,
Zach Bonn is very vocal on the field.
He's very, he exhibits leadership qualities on the field.
I think you saw that throughout the post-C.
or you saw that to our conversation,
more so when he,
when he had to take over for an Akobie as the mic.
That's a good point.
Yes.
And yeah,
he is respected in that,
in that locker.
And I think there is that expectation.
And he expects that of himself.
But I agree with you too.
I always enjoy when he's up there because I,
I think he's,
he's thoughtful,
he's honest.
And yeah,
he's vulnerable even at times too.
All right.
My number four moment.
My number four big takeaway from
day now you know Zach is likes to gas me up say I'm you know the the best practice watcher in the
game elite on the elite practice watcher ball knower and that may be true but you got to give
credit where credit it's due and the performance today from Zach Berman on on back to back
plays now the Eagles were doing some situational stuff you know one snap it's a competition period
offense against defense the stakes are very clear the first one
was the threes against the threes.
Third and seven.
Hold on, is this right?
No, no, third and eight from the eight yard.
So this is a got a score, touchdown.
Kyle McCourt is a quarterback, and I say, Zach, you know this guy, Syracuse.
There's no, Arronday Gadsden's not walking through that door.
Where is Kyle McCord going with this football?
And Zach says, tight end up the seam.
the snap comes
Kyle McCord looks right
he looks left
he fires down the seam to Nick
muse high in the end zone
for a touchdown
bingo bango bongo
zack nails it
two plays later I ask him again
now we're with the twos
six seconds left in the game
offense down by four
need a touchdown from about the
12 yard line let's say
and I'm thinking
six seconds maybe they try to steal a little
quick out, get one more play.
But not in this drill.
This drill, it's like a one play situation.
Zach knows better than that.
And he says, no, no.
Terrace Marshall in the corner.
Tanner McKee gets the snap, looks to his left,
throws it to Terrace Marshall in the corner.
It's broken up.
I think by Keely Ringo.
Yep.
But back-to-back calls from Zach perfectly.
And the man, you know how humble Zach Berman is.
and puff out his chest. That's just another day
on the office. So, kudos
to you, Zach. I appreciate
that. Look, it's intimidating to watch practice
with you. You know,
if Fran was there, I know that
I'd probably be in a different
conversation because you and Fran will be watching
it. But I
felt for a moment what it's like to be like
Bo Wolf at practice. Because
I was like, you know,
I really felt like
that time I played pickup at Syracuse
and I hit the three and I just wanted to leave.
Like I was ready to depart the practice field there because if you gave me two.
And that was with the player who you wouldn't acknowledge who was,
you wouldn't publicly say he was playing?
Yeah, exactly.
But because if you gave me two more minutes,
I probably would have said Kenyon Green's playing right guard and group of the jeans playing safety.
So I had to quit while I was ahead.
But thank you.
That was great, though.
Thank you.
Yeah.
I will get to.
There are a couple other things in there that are interesting.
I actually think Nick Mews had a nice day.
I don't know if it's going to be.
meet anything but you know mostly was it was in my mind for his performance in the postgame locker
room and at the white house but good for him all right uh we will get to he he lived like um you know
he joined very charmed for the charmed life he joins the team in the playoffs right so he gets
all the perks like you take someone like uh like and when they win the super ball you would
have you would have thought that he was the MVP yeah devon white has to go through many
camp has to go through training camp he's with the team when they're two and two he's to go you know
it's like all the all the bad to be inactive yeah exactly and then so that's that's what denham white
gets nick mews joins them in just the right time uh so yeah nick nick news is is living well
yeah that was very funny all right uh we have both of our top threes to get to including
what i believe will on my deathbed be my favorite minicamp moment of all time i will get to
that just after this ad break. Let's talk about getting back to what you love, especially this

All right, Zach Berman, June 10th, the day that we will all remember as the only minicamp of the 2025
season for the Eagles. What was your third biggest takeaway? Yeah, so let's let's go to the
offensive side of the ball here. And Devante Smith, am I getting him too early or were you
waiting for him a little later on? Is this your number one? Take it. Go ahead. Yeah. So probably the play
of the day was Devonte Smith down the left sideline, a seven on seven beat Smile Mondin Jr.
Now you're expecting to beat Smile Monda Jr. But you see Devonte downfield and it was our first time.
seeing Devante this summer, or I'm sorry, this spring rather.
You know, he's kind of, he works out on his own.
He's here for the offseat, or he's here for the mandatory minicamp.
But that jailing, Devante connection, I'm bullish on Devante this time every year.
Last year was a tough year for him between the injury.
The Eagles didn't pass the ball that much.
I have little doubt about Devonte Smith, the football player or frankly,
Devonte Smith, the person.
Like he's, he's just rock solid to have on, on your football team.
But it was, it was interesting seeing him downfield today.
And I would imagine, I've, I've been saying this.
Kevin Patul offense is going to feature more of a vertical,
I would say more of a vertical dimension than what you saw last year.
That's, that's what I'm expecting.
Can't really feature less.
Yeah, true.
Yeah, so on that play, yeah, he beats Smile Mountain.
And I believe it's Andre Sam's.
side of the field. So this was the nominal first team defense, Smile Mondin working with Jeremiah
Trouta Jr. Andre Sam among the group that's rotating in at safety. You know, you see Reed Blankenship
in Sydney Brown. Sometimes you see McCuba in there. Sometimes you see Andre Sam in there. Occasionally
you get Tristan McCollum in there. Again, I will repeat that I think Andre Sam is ahead of Tristan McCollum right now.
But on this play, I think Andre Sam was a little bit slow to get over on the help. And obviously,
you expect Devante Smith to beat Smile Mondin
if that's his matchup.
But it's a good sign that
Jalen Hertz is
like noticing that that's a clear mismatch
and getting him a ball.
That was a nice play.
And then just on the Devante front,
talking to him too,
since we didn't get to talk to him in the spring,
I was, I was moved a little bit by,
you know, we saw on the miced up from the Super Bowl
how moved Devante was during that game.
And he said what really hit home for him was the fact that it was at home.
It was in front of his family.
He said his grandpa, you know, doesn't ever get to see him play.
He got to be there for that game.
So, you know, unlike A.J. Brown, where it was like, this moment that I've been working
towards my whole life was a little bit hollow.
And I found that it's the process itself that I love.
For Devante, it did hit home, but it wasn't winning the Super Bowl as much as it was
the weight of doing it in front of his family, you know, where where he came from,
that was that was what got to him.
Yeah, I agree with you.
I had the same sentiment there.
And you saw that in the mic'd up how big a deal his teammates were making about him
doing it at home.
And after the touchdown, you heard Sequin Barkley say in your crib at the end of the
game when him and Jowen are embracing.
and he is emotional.
J-N references doing it at home.
I recall back the Eagle Saints game,
so week four,
there was so much excitement among teammates
for Devante going back to New Orleans.
And that was the game when he took that vicious hit.
Remember, like the helmet came off?
Yeah, that's right.
He gets the concussion.
So it wasn't even like the rewarding visit to his hometown
down that he that he typically would.
But yeah,
he's,
he has a lot of pride in,
in Louisiana.
Like he said today with Terrence Marshall Jr.
It's so nice to have another Louisiana guy on the team.
Yeah.
How about that?
They were on the same seven on seven team in high school.
How'd you like to play against that team?
Yeah,
seriously.
It seems like all Devonte does is play with good receivers.
I mean,
he probably looked around me like,
like,
you're starting in high school.
Yeah.
That's a really good point.
I guess the 2021 Eagles, right?
Yeah, that's true.
Yeah, that's true.
Yeah, it's true.
But yeah, I like the way Devante looked today.
That was good.
All right, my number three is as the right cornerback turns.
Today was a day where with the team, it was Adory Jackson at right corner.
So this is the first time that we have seen it be like in seven on sevens.
It was Keely Ringo at right corner with Quineon Mitchell.
But when they went to team drills,
it was a Dory Jackson at right corner with Quignon Mitchell.
Now, I was thinking about this, Zach,
because I think it's interesting that whatever the combination we've seen,
whether it is Keely Ringo or Dori Jackson at right corner,
because Quinnion, Mitchell has stayed at left corner the entire spring,
when the second team comes on, whoever the other one is, goes to left corner.
They don't stay at right corner.
So I kind of wonder if it is, it is,
They are taking a look not just at the pairing and who is better between Adori Jackson and Kili Ringo,
but they're also evaluating Kili Ringo on the right side and Kili Ringo on the left side and
Adori Jackson on the right side and Adori Jackson on the left side, because that will then inform
whether they want to move Quignan Mitchell to the left side or keep him on the right side.
So they're seeing all, they're seeing the different three combinations they could have
sidewise with those guys.
And I actually thought both, you know, both Adori Jackson and English.
Keelringo had good days today.
Keeley had two notable past breakups.
Dori Jackson had a nice coverage of Devante Smith that forced Jalen Hurst to come off the
throw that he wanted to make.
So in this setting where, you know, what corners do matter is you want to see how they move.
I thought both guys looked pretty good.
But it is not necessarily just Keatingo's job just yet.
Let me flow something out to you.
Do you think there's a chance that Quignon is following receivers this year?
and that they're kind of, you know, that they're preparing, they need to prepare
a keyly for other sides in there in case Quigionan is traveling with a corner.
And the Dore for both sides.
I think that might be part of it.
Yes, I do.
Because I think it's intentional that they are not, like those guys aren't staying on sides.
Those guys are getting work on both different sides, whereas Quigionan is working on one side
because he hasn't played that side for the Eagles, but they know what he can do on the right side.
side. So I do think that that is possible. Yeah. And I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I like the way that, uh, that
Keeley played today. I, I thought he was, he was physical on the ball, right? Now, he's someone who,
if we think about past OTAs, he's been more vulnerable deep, it feels like. Um, but I'm,
I'm just impressed with Keeley this spring. I'm expecting him to win the job. Okay. Zach Berman, let's get to
your number two takeaway from the day.
Yes, we've been at three sessions, and there hasn't been, and you referenced this earlier,
there hasn't been a change at right guard.
It's been Tyler Steen, and Tyler Steen's getting that work with Lane Johnson.
And so I asked Nick Siriani about this today.
I asked if that's been the case in the sessions were not present at, and then is this how
he's viewing it going into the summer?
And Nick said, look, Nick's always going to be cryptic.
with this type of stuff.
But Nick, Nick said at offensive line, you can't really tell until the pads come on.
But you've pointed this out time and time again that like Jeff Stoughtlin wants to view the,
you know, he, he wants to have that type of continuity.
He's talked in the past about synchronization.
So the fact that that everything, you know, we're seeing Tyler Steen next to Lane Johnson as much as we have,
really says this is this is
Tyler Steen's job to lose now
last year Tyler Steen gets
injured Mackay Beckton
goes in there and Mackay Beckton keeps
that job and that
injury happened early on
but I'm not sure that
Kenyon Green is viewed
internally maybe with the same intrigue as
Mackay Beckton a year ago
because even when
if memory serves
even when McKay Beckettin
filled in at left guard when Landon was out
he was feeling in a first team, right?
He was playing first team guard during the spring when he was still kind of learning the position.
So I haven't necessarily seen that from Kenyon Green.
So if I make this like a big picture takeaway, I would say Tyler Steen certainly looks like
the frontrunner of that position.
I think it's fair to say that he is the front runner.
As you said, this was also the case last spring that he got all the reps at Red Guard with
the first team.
I do think it's different the way that they view Kenan Green.
I also do think that the way that Stout does it in the spring is different than the way that he does it in the summer.
I think he becomes those reps matter more in the summer.
So, you know, if Tyler Steen makes it through one week of camp and he hasn't rotated, that will tell us a lot as well.
If you are joining us for the first time and haven't, you know, been crunching the sickos downloads after these OTAs on the offensive line,
I'll give you what the breakdown has been.
I remember that Cam Juergens is just working off to the side.
He is not practicing right now.
And so the first team offensive line is, as you would expect,
Jordan Milata, Lenin Tickerson.
It's Brett Tooth at center.
And, you know, he's had trouble snapping in the past.
He had another one today.
But, you know, Stout loves him, so that's okay.
And then Tyler Steen and Lane Johnson with the ones.
With the twos, it is left to right, Kendall Lamb,
Trevor Keegan, Drew Kendall, Matt Pryor,
Darren Kinnard. So Kenyon Green is not even working with the twos ahead of either, you know, Keegan or Matt Pryor.
I think that that is notable. And he has only worked on the left side, I believe, that we have seen.
And so with the threes then, if you really care about it, Miles Hinton at left tackle, although he got a little bit banged out at one point today and was replaced by Lakin Vakalahi at left tackle.
Then you've got Kenyon Green at left guard, Drew Kendall, pulling double duty at center, Holland Pierce at right guard.
and Cameron Williams at right tackle.
Yeah, and I suppose that this could change if someone makes a push.
I just don't see, I don't think prior will start over Tyler Steen,
and I haven't seen them make the type of commitment yet in Kenyon Green to leave me to think
this is going to change.
Now, injury can affect things, but going into-
Tell me this, more likely that Kenyon Green is a start.
Red Guard or doesn't make the team?
Good question.
I'd still say more likely he's the starting right guard.
But it's not, I mean, I feel, look, if I did my piece on like 25 predictions, if I did that
back before Camp started, I'd be wrong on this one because I thought Kenyon Green was going
to become the starter.
But he's still very, it's possible.
He might still.
Okay.
My number two takeaway, Zach, had nothing to do.
do with anything that happened on the practice field today or in the press conference room.
I think we got to talk about this big news from Jeffrey Lurie, a quote-unquote transformational
$50 million gift to chop and pen medicine to launch the Lurie Autism Institute.
I will read the top line here.
A $50 million gift to chop and pen medicine will create an ambitious joint initiative.
called the Lurie Autism Institute
to drive discoveries and transformative impact
for those living with autism,
autism spectrum disorder.
The gift from the Lurie family
is the largest single donation
to U.S. academic medical centers
focused on autism research across the lifespan.
And so,
in the context of
knowing where Jeffrey Lurie leans politically,
and yet he still goes to the White House,
this does kind of feel like a not-so-subtextual defense of that and shot across the bow of the current administration.
Yeah, I mean, I, surprised, surprise.
Which we should say is like from their, the person in charge of their health policies basically doesn't think that autism is real or worse thinks that people with autism should be cast away from society.
Yeah, I mean, I look, by no, like I, I strongly disagree with the administration's position on this here.
But I actually think that like Jeffrey Lurie, I would imagine he would make this, this contribution regardless of who was in office.
Like I don't think this is a response.
I don't think this is a response to the administration.
Perhaps I'm incorrect there.
I think that that this is a, this, this more than anything else is, is like an example of
of something that I, I know from speaking to him is extraordinarily important to him.
It's something that he's, he wants to be a part of his legacy.
And we've seen it, obviously, with Eagle's Autism Challenge, Eagles Autism Foundation.
but he's he's backed this up like I I was at and you know chop for full disclosure
chop is is something that's that's like very meaningful to me you know and I've been involved
with chop and I was I was actually at a function three years ago that you know Jeffrey spoke at
and admittedly I don't have much exposure to autism if I'm being completely honest and a lot
of what I know about as anecdotal through
things like this.
But I know that this is really important to Jeffrey
is his brother, you know, is autistic.
And when I did a piece, or I'm sorry,
when I spoke to Jeffrey for the franchise a few years ago
or so two summers ago now,
and one thing I asked him was about the next 25 years.
Like, what do you want or what's this,
the franchise's story going to be 25 years from now. If I did a book on the 50th anniversary of,
or like year 50 here, and literally the first part of his answer was this. He said, quote,
I would hope that our impact on autism would be profound because it's just the beginning. The first
three, four years are extremely successful, but I can imagine in 25 years, our family and the team
can be a huge factor in really evolving what has been a puzzle for the world in terms of autism. So I can't
speak to like the impetus or why now for this.
I got to imagine that a $50 million donation probably predates the election in, you know,
this past November, but I mean, certainly it's something that autism can use right now.
Well set.
All right, Zach.
After this break, we will get to our number one takeaways from Eagles minicamp.
and we've got other leftovers to sprinkle in as well,
but stay tuned for the headlines.

All right, Zach, I'm ready. Hit me with it. Your number one takeaway from the only open mini camp, the only mini camp of the spring for the Super Bowl defending Philadelphia Eagles.
Yeah, I think J-Oen's been better this spring than last spring.
I think that he's been, so look, I don't think that Jaywin-Hurts is winning the MVP based off this spring, right?
But I thought last spring, if you remember, he did not look good.
And now in the summer, he looked terrific.
The beginning of the season, he did not look good.
So we don't know the correlation between.
I don't agree with it.
I don't necessarily agree with any of that, but go ahead.
Did you think he looked good last summer?
I thought he looked fine last summer.
Yeah, yeah.
I was not, I was not blown away by he hasn't thrown an interception.
Okay.
But I, I think he's been, he's been decisive.
He's been efficient.
And like, yeah, I think that this was a better spring than last year.
Now, that's said.
We only saw three sessions, okay?
Last year we saw five sessions, if memory serves.
And then he's, there were, there was one session indoors, which was, which was
really hard to ascertain.
Right.
Basically saw two.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So we really only watch two.
But if you kind of look like big picture at the quarterback, I think that Jalen has, has pretty good.
You know, I think he has a good sense of what he's doing, of where he needs to go with the ball.
And I also think, too, that for as much attention as we pay to the changing coordinators,
this is ultimately Jalen hurts his offense.
And that's the, like, it's, the offense is going to be what Jowen wants it to be.
And I think that's even more the case now than ever before.
You know, Jalen had a quote today when he spoke to us where, you know, he essentially said,
so here, he said, I think he's been doing a great job.
He's talking about Patoa.
I think he's been doing a great job with that in what we've been able to do.
And on the other side of it, there's a dynamic of adaptability that you have to be able to find success,
regardless of what the leadership looks like, what the voice is, and who's in the quarterback
room coaching me or who is out there calling place.
And, you know, he kind of talked about at one point, how he told Patuo, like, it doesn't matter
who's at receiver.
He's got to figure it out, right?
And so I think that the offense is Jowen's offense more than anything else.
And so you want to see efficiency from Jalen Hertz.
I really like to, I mean, I don't know if this is like two main character syndrome,
but I liked his answer to my question as well, because I was just like, you know,
we talk so much about the coordinators, what's it like having like a position coach
for four different guys in four years?
And I thought his answer there was interesting where he said, like, when you take a step
back and realize all that you've accomplished, essentially, it gives you more faith that
you can do even more, which is, you know, that's a little bit of myth-making, but that's great.
And I think that's, that is how he thinks, right? I thought, I thought that was a good answer.
Now, I actually didn't think he had a particularly good day today. Like, in the actual competitive
periods, he had to eat the ball three times. And, you know, he couldn't get on the same page with
AJ Brown and routes on air. They missed, like, two, like, easy outs in a row. But I also don't think
that that matters. I think, I think what matters more is that, you know, J.
as heavy as the head that wears the crown and he wears it well.
Well said.
Okay.
I think you know what my number one is said.
Because what an electric moment for minicamp practice.
This was to tell the story of a person.
Oh, my gosh, so good.
Now, we have heard that after the Eagles won the Super Bowl,
you know, how he does not let up.
In fact, he ratcheted it up.
He was even more aggressive in the building, right?
You know, he's even harder on everybody.
Now, today is the only mini-camp day.
So he wants to see everybody out there.
This is a big day in the spring.
In conjunction with that,
Sean Jackson was in the house today,
taking things in as a new head coach of Delaware State.
And he had a bunch of other Delaware State staffers with him
who were on the sidelines.
And just as seven-on-sevons were beginning,
you hear a little bit of commotion here.
Hey, and you look and you see that there are two Delaware state staffers
like crossing over into the back of the end zone.
They're walking across the field.
And instead of walking behind the goalposts,
they sort of go in front of the goalposts into the back of the end zone.
And you hear like, hey, get off the field.
And this is the second time.
Do you want me to tell Deshaun?
You want me to get to Sean?
And you look over and it's Howie Roseman yelling at these two guys.
And you're like, oh, this is interesting.
And then he backs it up and goes, this is our house.
Like, yeah, as if like, how dare you coming to our house and step across the line?
This is our house, which to me, beautiful.
Like, you want to talk about how do you keep it going?
How do you keep the intensity to, you know, follow up a Super Bowl with another Super Bowl,
care about other little details?
Howie Rosenen barking at those two guys, that was fantastic.
That was the fireworks of Minicamp that I will never forget.
That was unbelievable.
Yeah.
So I'm kind of on how we side on this year, okay?
I got to tell you.
So not to get Colin Calhurt on you here, okay?
But so you see you're an assistant coach at Delaware State.
all right you have you get to go to the eagles you get to go to the super bowl champions one day
of minicamp practice all right and this guy's here and he's got his hat on backwards
all right all right he's so so the cover here all right but but and he can't even he can't even
walk around the end zone like no one you know you know there's all the the stat you know the how
Roseman's there with Andrew Barry, I believe
at it at this point. And
you know, you see
Julian Lurie's over there. Like, no
one is on the field except
the players and the coaches, right?
Like, no
staff member goes on the field
on like the actual playing field unless
you're on the field. So
this, this still works as a coach.
Like, he's trying to go from Joe to
and he's just strutting across
the end zone as if
As if, like, you know, like, oh, this is like his day at the EO.
The feelings of the place.
Yeah.
The first time this happened, I was like, all right, maybe he didn't know.
You know, it's like, I always think to that that.
But you saw the first one.
Yeah, oh, yeah.
I saw the first one here.
Yeah.
Okay.
And I think about that.
Wait, and did Howie bark at him the first time?
Yes, yes.
Yeah, that's the second time.
Okay.
And I think about like, I did.
told the story when I, the first time I covered a golf tournament and I thought like inside the
Robesman, I walk like with, um, right, right. And, uh, and so, all right. So, so you can absolve him
the first time, the second time. And just like, it's, it's as if you didn't even know who
Howie Roseman was. Like, he walked right by Howie in, in this case. And I got to think how he's
thinking, like, who do you think you are, man? Like, come on. And the guy was completely unfaced. Like,
Unapologetic, too.
If I get something like that, I'd be, oh, I'm sorry.
That's amazing.
The guy's like, oh, yeah, I would have been, you would have been, you would have been absolutely
embarrassed, like, completely like you would want to crawl out of your own body.
You'd be so embarrassed.
Yes.
Yeah.
This guy's like, man, I'm here with Deshaun Jackson.
Who's this guy over here telling me what the table already?
I was, I could believe it at the time.
So I'm kind of on, I'm on Howie here.
Well, I am with you.
I mean, it is indefensible.
And I'm, and Howie was totally right.
And to be like, get off the field.
Yeah.
But the double back of our house is, is when it sort of, it went a little bit over like,
okay, now this is also a very funny reflection on Howie, too.
Like, although it was pretty good.
I got to say, like, Howie's going to tell Deshaun,
Deshaun doesn't strike me as the guy who's going to be like,
I'm going to whip this guy in shape.
Deshawn was at practice.
DeShahn was like,
was like videotaping part of the practice with his phone.
Like he was calling over to the sideline.
He was calling over to AJ and the Sequin during, you know,
during the practice itself.
So yeah, so I'm curious what Deshawn's reaction would have been.
That was so, that was electric.
I mean, there is nothing that could happen on the field.
That would be more electric than that.
And so Christopher W, this was not Clinton Portis or Eugene Jung, because I think Clinton
Portis and Eugene Chung wouldn't know how to act at it and then about football practice.
This guy here, like, was, it's like the college guy who goes back to his high school baseball game,
you know, and like, look at me.
Everybody knows I'm a coolest guy here.
Yeah, I mean, the backwards hat, I mean, I couldn't believe it.
I was like, you know.
Oh, my God.
Yeah.
That was so funny.
Yeah.
That was great.
And thank you.
Thank you to Alec Williams for the very generous super chat contribution.
It's our house.
That was so good.
All right.
Let's get to our leftovers, Zach.
Here's a take that I have.
The competition for number three quarterback is over.
Common Court is better than Dorian Thompson.
Yeah, I agree with that.
I agree with that.
This is a little bit of a, now, now listen.
during Thompson
is more athletic.
So it's possible
that when they get into
real game action,
he will flash there.
But as a thrower,
there were some ugly ones today.
And I mean,
we're talking about a handful of reps.
And Kyle McCord made some really good throws today.
Now,
I do also still think that he's got
a bit of a weird hitch
in his throwing motion.
Like,
it's like he's ratching in it back
and then he lets it go.
And there's like a sort of hesitation
at the top.
But two in particular,
really good throws,
including the one
that you predicted to Nick Mews.
And so I think
this is all but done and dusted.
I would agree based on
what I've seen now.
I would imagine part of Dorian Thompson's game
is improvising,
you know, extending plays.
We've seen that in the past.
He might look better in preseason games.
But yeah, I think Common Core
shows some juice for sure.
I will stick with my on-field
takeaways first and then we can get to some of the other press conference stuff.
Mack McWilliams, this is the first time that we've seen him work inside.
He was spending time as a nickel today.
So that's one where, you know, he was still working behind.
Perry Nickerson was when it wasn't Cooper DeGine was working in.
But Mac MacMick Williams getting some work with the twos inside.
We have not seen that yet.
And I think that matters.
I think that is the job that he is pushing for is to be the backup nickel.
yeah um i would uh i would add a a nugget here um danny gray continues to uh to show some juice uh that's like the third time i've used juice i'll use a different word danny gray now he was the intent of target on two of those keely ringo pass breakups um but he but yeah he he does look like um like someone who's at least going to be in the mix and uh there was there was one time when
I think it was Andre Sam, like hit, hit Danny Gray late,
and Danny Gray was not happy with it.
And I was like, I was like Danny Gray is acting like he.
And Andre Sam's going to bring some wood.
You're going to know that.
Oh, yeah, big Andre Sam guy.
February 9th birthday.
There you go.
He makes it in the book.
He makes it in the book.
Once, not twice.
Acknowledgements.
Yeah.
Three times a lady.
We saw a rep of dime from the Eagles defense.
and I thought this was interesting, the dime package was a three safety package,
and you had Andrew McCuba as the second nickel.
And so it was Sidney Brown and Reed Blankenship up top,
but Andrew McCuba, who played a little bit of nickel at Clemson,
when they went dime, it was Macuba with, you know, DeGine as the other inside guy.
So that's interesting because it's not, you know,
they could have put Adory Jackson inside there, and they went,
they went MacCuba three safeties.
Yeah, I'm curious to see if this is a role that evolves
for Macuba.
Two last things for on-field action for me.
Because I think we've sort of been over all the other depth chart machinations.
You know, they continue to rotate it safety.
Defensive line is tough.
Although there was a time when they went from like the first team defensive lines
to the second team defensive line, but Jordan Davis stayed on the field.
And so I wonder if that's just a little bit of Vic.
Like I need to still see that you can that you can keep up your your fitness level.
Sure. And Jordan Davis had a would-be sack today, by the way. So you don't want to make too much of the pass rush this time of year. But, yeah, he had a would-be sack. Yeah.
Okay. Last moment for me. Yeah. Very good moment. They were transitioning from seven-on-seven, and the offensive line is done with their drills. And Lenny Dickerson's, you know, they're on a side field. And they're all sort of like walking over.
over, but should we walk over?
Are we doing team drills?
Do you need the offensive line?
And Lennon Dickerson's like, Greg, Greg Delamitra, is like, do you need us?
And there's a pause.
And like, Greg is checking with Siri on.
And Syria's like, no, no, no, you guys are good.
And it's like, they turn around to go.
And then like, six seconds later, they're like, okay, or we need the offensive line.
We need the offense.
And so they all have to come over.
And Lana Dickerson, not happy about this.
And he yells at Ian yells out a big.
S my C!
I did not hear that.
You didn't hear that.
What do you think that stands for, Zach?
Oh, I'm not going to say it, but I can, you know, deductive reasoning, I can, I can figure that one out.
Steal my cookies.
Please don't do that either.
Yeah.
Or, please don't do that one.
Yeah.
So, yeah, it's, yeah, Atlanta Diggerson does, he, he likes to be decisive during, in between those girls.
I started something and know where I was going
neither do that
you can find out what SMIC means
Zach when we get to
overtime
might have gone early
Super chat from Roheat
Zach who says any thoughts on the AJ
Annius video I don't think I've seen this
what did I mean? Yes I watched it
and first off credit for
AJ
he's been creative
on YouTube now he's had two
videos trying to get those
subscribers up just like we are
and yeah he's doing a good job
with that
I appreciated the sentiment
behind like the visualization
I did find it
what was it
for those of us who
oh I'm sorry about this so he went to the
link and they like ran
steps to the link and he
it was him and Anayas he was like taking Anayas under
his wing and they sat in the front row
and he was going he was talking about
like visualization and and like
you're here and you you visualize this play over there and the fans scream that kind of thing
um so i i i thought it was i thought it was creative i was kind of unmoved like overall by it
like you know i but it was it was kind of no like i i didn't change my opinion of an i smith or
changed my opinion of a j brown but i like all the content i can find and i thought that was
that was cool content what'd you think rohee he's out on the show he can put it in the chat though we can
And this is the time when I'm allowed to read the chat.
So that's true.
It's easier to doing it.
Well, I think it's semi-interesting that he's taking an I-Smith under his wing, right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
All right.
Tell me what your press conference takeaways were, Zach, unless there's anything else on the field that you want to discuss.
Yeah.
So actually a good group today.
First off, Sequin Barclan.
We talked about Bonn and we talked about Devonte Smith.
Yeah.
So Sequant Barclay, who's big emphasis, as he says,
I feel like I'm entering my prime.
Okay.
He discussed how coming off all those calories last year, you have to be smart.
You have to listen to your body.
That was a point of emphasis of his.
Not retiring anytime soon.
Yeah.
He does not plan on retiring anytime soon, he said.
So that kind of took a life of his own.
I didn't think he was going to walk away from football.
Yeah, I don't think that was never that interesting, but that's okay.
Yeah.
But he does love golf.
He says he's addicted to golf.
so
I ain't as well
Faced it Joe
addicted to golf
I mean
I got to say
for someone who
who tends to light it up
and give us
like really good answers
and is thoughtful
I was hoping for a better answer
for the highlight of his off season
he's done all these cool things
and he says
is being at OTAs
yeah he's like
he sounds like you
he's like when you're yeah but I'm genuine but he's like I don't golf so I mean he I'm sure he's
been the different golf tournaments and yeah he's he's been all over he's like he's at the Metcala
he yeah but he he said when players retire they what they miss is being with the teammates so
so he's enjoyed that um by the way he with teammates one quick thing just get back to the
Devante because I don't know if we'll talk about this. Devante, as you remarked, like,
how did Cooper get Devante and AJ out to Iowa? Devante doesn't know either. Devante is like,
I don't know what that guy did to get me to go to the middle of nowhere. He didn't seem to
real about going to Iowa. Yeah. It's very funny. He said he did it. Yeah. So Sequin says he feels
like he's getting to his peak. Lane also said he feels like he's getting close to his peak at 35
five years old.
And that might sound crazy, but, you know, he was, he was awesome last year.
And I am, I am always fascinated by the, you know, any athlete.
It's like the, you have on one side, the older, like, you're early in your career,
you're at your best physically, right?
Probably year, two, year three.
Like, you're at your best physically.
End of your career, like, you have the best understanding of what to do, you know,
the movements to make.
how to read things are going on.
And like, when is it that those two things match so that you're both like at your physical
prime and your mental prime?
And for Lane, you know, he was talking about how there were years where he was really
banged up like 2021, like he couldn't plant on his leg.
And you can really see that on film.
But he feels like physically as good now as he ever has.
And so if that's true, then yeah, I mean, he knows the game now better than he ever has.
So if he's good physically, he should be really good.
Yeah, well said. And I mean, Lane's one of my favorite players to cover because I've seen the entire career arc and all the others, all the twists and turns to it. But what's been interesting for me to monitor over the past, excuse me, I'd say, like three, four years is how Wayne's messaging has changed about his future. And what I mean by that is there was a time where he was saying, you know, getting near the end, you know, maybe two years.
is the past year or so, that answer's changed to the point that this past off season when he signed
that the new contract, one of the things he said is that he's really taking time to study
people who've extended their careers into, he talked about Tom Brady, he talked about
Olympians who thrive into their 40s, and he says he's tried to learn from those guys.
He's talked about how he's an only child and football has really, is.
is like his sense of brotherhood, right?
Like he,
he really enjoys being a part of the team.
And so I think Lane's going to keep trying to play.
Like, Lane, there's a certain,
it's,
it's funny how it's cyclical.
Lane was drafted to replace Jason Peters.
And like Jason Peters never retired.
And so Lane just stayed on the,
on the side.
I think Lane could be one of those guys who doesn't retire,
who,
or who just like keeps playing,
keeps coming back.
And I wouldn't have said that two, three years ago.
I also thought it was interesting, and I think that's all well said, is given the things that we know that he has struggled with mental health-wise, he made a point to say, like, he really looks forward to coming into work every day.
Yeah.
And I don't think that that was always the case for him.
And so whatever has gotten him to a better place, he seems to be in a better place.
Yeah.
And congratulations on his engagement.
Yes, yeah, he's he's recently engaged.
I know his, his fiancee's really helped him too.
But I think a lot of it comes down to health.
And, you know, we talk about mental health, but with Lane, too, physical health.
And I say that because when he was going through the ankle issues and he didn't feel like the player that he wanted to be, I think that that really affected him.
So when I talk about like the career longevity, a lot of that is staying physically healthy as well.
Because I would imagine those two things might be intertwined.
Yes.
Anything else from Jalen other than what we talked about?
I feel like we.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I think I think we we covered the hits with Jalen.
Okay.
And then anything from Nick before practice?
No, you know, he's, I think a lot of the.
the messaging going in the camp and during camp will will be about trying to sustain success
and and you know different parts of that and he was he was talking about you know some of the
messaging today but no that those were kind of really the the big takeaways from Nick I do find
it and I've said this in the past hypocritical might be too strong a word but you know and I
I couldn't get this question in.
The press conference ended.
But Nick, I vest in the past, right?
I don't feel uncomfortable saying it.
Like, Nick's like, you have to work, you have to practice, this kind of thing.
But he doesn't take his full allotment of practices during the spring.
And you can say, yeah, it's OTAs, mini-camp.
It's really not that big a deal.
And I agree.
Like, it's not going to affect whether they win or lose the Super Bowl.
But what I find to be flimmy,
is when you talk about what they had a long season because you can hold back your top 20, 30 guys.
I think this time of year is really valuable for players 30 to 90 on the roster, 40 to 90 on the roster.
Like you can't tell me that two more days of minicamp won't be beneficial to Danny Gray or Terrace Marshall or you go on down the list.
And so I, that's always seemed, you know, when I hear this time of year in particular that these guys got, you know, it's all about practicing and the work they put in.
And football is one of those sports where you practice more than you play and you walk through more than you practice.
And he says all that.
But then they, they don't practice that much during the spring.
And last year, they had a full, you know, they, they.
They used their full allotment of mandatory minicamp.
And one of the things that you kept hearing was that it was beneficial going into the summer.
So it's just something to put out there.
I don't necessarily disagree with that.
To play devil's advocate, I think that they would say, or Nick would say,
a lot of the work that matters for those guys comes off the field, right?
Whether that is in the mini rooms or in walkthroughs.
And I think maybe there's something to that.
My other question to you is, do you think that Nick is actually in charge of how many practices they have?
Or do you think he is charged with taking his marching orders from like sports science on that front?
Yeah, I think it's collaborative between the front office and sports science and probably the leadership council as well too, right?
If you recall, they canceled mandatory minicamp his first year as kind of a deal with the leaders on
on the team.
And it's why I've been consistent with this.
It doesn't matter to me when Devante Smith isn't at OTAs.
Like,
Devante Smith doesn't need OTAs, all right?
He'll be fine.
I think this matters more because you get to a point in training camp where it's,
it really becomes the ones and the twos, right?
And those are the guys getting the bulk of the work.
And so anytime you can get extra reps for guys who don't get a lot of reps,
I think that's valuable.
And so I think that's fair.
Never understood why, like, even if they, you know, if they didn't even dress these other guys,
if you can be on the, if the starters don't practice on day two and they cancel day three,
but, you know, they have a walk through that day.
Just get these down the depth chart guys some work.
Like how much work did Kyle McCord and, you know, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, um, um, um, he.
get in um so that's that's kind of something that i don't think that's a crazy i don't think that's a
crazy take and you also know that like you know nick and the coaches love coaching those guys right
that's you know they would love to have those reps probably now i think maybe there is a uh
a not great message you're sending if you're like okay the ones can leave but someone who's
competing has to stay maybe it i mean it frankly could just be you turned into a voluntary thing and
it's rookies and whoever else wants to stay or something like that.
You have a repeat rookie camp,
but I don't,
I don't,
I don't think that that's a entirely unfair take.
Yeah.
And I,
I asked Nick,
I remember,
uh,
maybe a second year about this.
And he kind of,
he,
he,
he,
he,
he,
he,
he joked us kind of like a smart aleck with the question.
Because I,
I said something to the point of,
well,
if practices is as important as,
as you say,
why don't you practice as much as you're allowed to, right?
Yeah.
But yeah, I won't back off this opinion because I think there's no, you know,
I keep hearing, you know, you have to listen to the player's bodies and take care of them.
But you can do that with your starters.
I think that the bottom half of the roster can benefit for more work.
Okay.
I don't think that's unreasonable.
Anything else?
Um, no, I was going to say, uh, you know, the Sean Jackson being a practice is still
interesting, uh, seeing Delaware State football coach to Sean Jackson, good for him.
Um, out there. Uh, Joe Douglas loves watching the offensive lineman. You always see that.
Uh, you know, Joe has clearly has a presence. He'll still have announced their front office.
But, you know, Joe Douglas, for instance, he's around more than you ever see, um, you know,
Caldwell or Matt Russell.
who don't live in the area like you know Joe Douglas probably lives nearby still right so he's
able to get down here but I'm curious to see all the Mount Russell are still with the team yeah no
but even in in in past years right so I think you saw them in the spring maybe not okay um
so yeah so that that stood out uh but no I think I think we hit it I have two non football things
who I'm gonna save them for tomorrow this is fun
This is fun.
Okay.
If you want to save them for tomorrow and do one now.
No, I'll give them to you both.
That's fine.
We'll figure out tomorrow show.
One is you and I have had the discussion about the toilet in the media house.
Yeah.
Okay.
And I believe that it is on you, even if you come into the bathroom, you know, there are women working.
Yes.
I have something added to this.
Okay, go on.
If you come in and the seat is raised and you're just going into pee and you pee,
you still should put the seat down.
Whether you are allergic to the germs or not, that is the shivalry thing to do.
Okay.
I went to do that the other day.
And, I mean, talk about a good deed, no good deed goes unpunished.
I go to put it down and the thing flies off.
Oh, that's not connected.
I noticed it wasn't there.
Okay.
So that came from you putting it down.
Okay.
Well, no, because what that means is that the previous person to use it knew that it was broken
and just flipped it up.
Imagine, imagine I had to sit down or someone who did need to sit down and you then put it down.
And the things, it doesn't even, it's not even on.
It's not screwed on.
We got a loose lid.
I was wondering how that happened.
Okay.
Yeah, that's weak by the person before you, for sure.
So my contribution to the immediate bathroom conversation is this and it's long similar lines here.
So I go to P, pull up the seat, okay?
But the person who went before me clearly didn't pull up the seat because the seat was covered.
That is just like, what are we doing?
What kind of even?
So, so, Bo.
So in that situation, I did not want to pull the seat down because.
Because you don't want to make it.
But not because you don't want to make it look like you were the one who did that.
Yes, exactly.
I didn't want the next person who comes in there to think that I peed on a seat.
Okay.
Like, so I kept that up in defense of my own reputation in that case.
I would much rather, I submit to you, I would much rather be the guy who keeps the seat up than peas on the seat when it's down.
Now, I'm not saying you needed to do this, but did it occur to you that maybe you could just wipe it off for them?
No.
You know, get a bunch of toilet paper and you wipe that guy off, you be the bigger man, you do your part for for humankind.
No, it did not occur to me in that situation to do that.
No.
Curiously, what did it occur to you to do that?
Would you wipe this?
I would like to think.
off the sea.
I would.
Not definitely,
but I would.
Yeah.
I would.
No,
that hasn't.
Because it's going to be
someone else's problem eventually.
You know what?
Make the world a little bit of a better place.
This brings to mind my,
my friend Pat,
who once we were at a wedding,
a much worse situation.
He was at a wedding.
We were at a wedding together.
And the person before him
who used the bathroom was kind of an, well, not kind of, it was an elderly gentleman
who maybe didn't have it all going on.
And when Pat walked into the bathroom, that thing was just splattered with poop all over the place.
And poor Pat felt like he hesitated too long.
He didn't know what to do.
And in waiting and not knowing what to do, he didn't want to then leave and make it seem like
he was the one who did it.
And so he cleaned it up
all himself.
So there is someone
who deserves a salute and is a better
man than both of us. Because I don't think even I
would have done that. Yeah, good work.
Good work. Yeah. I...
And he must have been there for a very long time.
Yeah, good work,
you're a better man than me
in that situation.
Yeah.
My last thing is,
have you ever encountered Zach as a fan of
comedy, as I know you are?
Have you ever encountered someone in conversation trying to pass off a bit as their own, as their own thing?
Like their own take or their own story or something like that?
Well, I got to say, I'm guilty of this.
I'm guilty of this.
But really, you're pulling a mensia?
What's a mincea?
Well, a famous joke stealer.
Carlos Macya.
Yeah.
So, no, I would always credit upon, like, a kind of conversation.
But, no, so for instance.
Well, it's different if you say, like, it's as someone says.
No, so I did it one time.
Yeah, I said, I said to somebody one time, yeah, I love the way I look in the airport,
in, in the airplane mirror.
And that's a line straight from Jerry Seinfeld, right?
And then I got called out on it.
And I was like, yeah, no, I, I, I, I, I, I,
I'm not saying it was, it was mine.
I was just agreeing with what Jerry Seinfeld said.
Ooh, that is, I don't like that, sad.
Yeah.
Well, now, so now I, I try to credit beforehand.
But yes, it was more of like, I don't like that.
Who called you out?
My brother.
Oh, that's funny.
Yeah.
The one for me here was, we were at a birthday party, you know, a kid's birthday party.
And people are asking how the baby is.
And someone says, like, I love like,
I love families with at least three kids, you know, because families with at least three kids.
Like, you know, you hear a crash in another room and they're like, you know, they don't even, they don't even care to, they just make sure that the kids are okay.
No big deal, which is, I mean, it's just, it's a Seth Myers pit.
It's, it's, it's just a Seth Myers line from his stand-up.
Like, we're just, we're just repurposing that as your own thing.
You can't be doing that?
You think I don't know, you think I don't know that line from Seth Myers?
You think I'm not going to catch that?
Come on.
Yeah.
I agree.
And Seth Myers is too mainstream there.
Yeah.
Yeah, I agree with that.
I agree with that.
We can't be doing it.
We can't be, you know, AI is already stealing everything.
We can't, we can't be doing this human to human.
Yeah.
Yeah, I'm with you there.
I'm with there.
I have a quick story from a dinner on Saturday night.
Should I save it for tomorrow show or should I give it to you now?
No, we're here.
Let's hear it.
I think this is better than the Brandon Brooks episode.
This is the best episode we've ever done.
I said, I got to save this for the show.
All right.
And we didn't have a show yesterday.
And you're going to crack up here because my, you know, Emily and my and my brother and my
sister-in-law, who I was with, they thought it was either the one of the craziest
interactions they've ever seen or in the funniest interactions they've ever seen.
They didn't quite know.
So the waitress at the restaurant.
Okay.
And you know, I'm a tentative.
I like to empower the waitress.
We know you're chatting her up.
Yeah.
Yes.
So two times she says, pardon the interruption.
When he says part of the interruption.
And then she says, you know,
he said, you know what this is going on.
So she says part of the interruption.
And then, you know, would you like to, you know, would you, you know, you know, you know, you know,
You know, can't take your drink order or, you know, part of the interruption.
You know, her line that when she comes to the table is part of the interruption.
So the third time she does this, I, you know, she goes through her thing.
And I say, she's about to walk away.
And I say, excuse me.
And I say her first name.
And I said, are you a fan of the show, pardon the interruption?
And she's like, what?
said on ESPN with Tony cornerizer Michael Wilpon.
And she said, no, I'm not.
And I said, oh, because you've said part of the interruption three times now.
I didn't know if that was in recognition of the show.
And she said, and she didn't laugh.
She didn't smile.
She didn't even like go along with it.
Like, oh, that's funny or that's cute.
Or what's the show?
no, she's like, no, that's what I say.
And I said, I'm sorry.
Okay.
And then she walked away.
And she said, please, I hope to see you again at this restaurant.
We'll see you around the horn.
We'll see you in 23 and a half hours, right?
That's Tony Marie Ali says.
Yeah, my sibling or my brother, my wife, my sister-in-law were,
dying.
Appropriately flabbergasted, yeah.
Like, just like this,
this is. Because had you
as a table, as a table
had you discussed it yet?
No, no. The first two times,
did anybody note that she had said
part of the interruption? Or this was just
ruminating in your mind alone?
Yes. I was the only one, you know,
Emily was like, how do you remember what she said?
And I was like, how, you hear pardon
the interruption. How don't you? I mean, when I heard
you say pardon the eruption the first time, I knew where this
going yeah so to me like i i don't use part in the interruption and i've i've never heard part
in the interruption as a regular use as a regular phrase other than the show so uh i mean i heard
yeah that's why they named the show that but yes yeah so um so that was that's very funny
yeah but i i said i got to bring this up on the show uh that's really good yeah what was your
what was your brother's take?
Just how nuts I was, and that's such a like, like, why, like,
it's also so funny, be like, excuse me,
as if it's like, uh, do you enjoy a nice, a nice, uh, duck or like,
like, just like, like, what, you do, do you happen to,
to like part of the interruption on ESPN?
No, but their, their, their point, too, was.
What's good here?
So this is, five good minutes.
So this is a really popular.
I see. So this is a really popular
restaurant, crowded, you know,
packed every table full on a Saturday night,
right? Seven o'clock reservation.
So we're probably at this point
8.15,
right? There,
this is their epicenter, right? This is their, like,
like this is their,
this is their witching hour
to use, yeah.
And,
and, and,
and they're like, why are you holding her up
to ask her if she watches part
in the interruption too? Like, like, let her
get on with the next table.
Yeah.
Now, an important question.
Did this interaction affect your tip in any way?
I mean, I was a generous.
Did you feel like you had to make a financial apology for the awkwardness?
Did you, did you ding her for not knowing part of the interruption?
No, no, not at all.
This was the tip would not be reflective of if she was a fellow PTI fan or not.
I gave a generous tip.
regardless. It was great service. I told her at one point, the service is outstanding here.
She probably thought I was like, like, it's kind that you do it in front of Emily. So it doesn't it feels less like awkward. Yes, exactly. Yeah. Yeah. Less cringe worthy in that case. Yes.
Wonderful service today. Well, she, I mean, she was explaining everything in such detail. She was, uh, you know, there were two different lamb dishes. I asked her, which land.
She recommends.
Yeah, she tried to, she tried to upsell me on the on the steak.
I wasn't going there.
But, you know, I went with the lamb she recommended.
Hmm, what were the two lambs?
We got a, we had a chop in like a...
No, it was like a lamb kebab and then it was like a spiced lamb dish.
I probably should go on the kebab, honestly.
the spice lamb dish sounds like a kebab in itself
well there was just the lamb kind of like it was it was a whole lamb it wasn't
yeah I don't know that it was yeah just the lamb as opposed to just the tip yes yes
but yeah it was a good restaurant jack you knocked it out of the park what a what a great episode
it's a fun show enjoy it i feel like if you're an eagles fan and you only need to listen to
one episode this spring this is the one
we'll do better tomorrow as they say on PTI.
I mean, there's no mini-camp tomorrow.
I can't promise that.
True.
Well, we'll be in store or run off we'll be in studio.
We'll be talking to 2 o'clock tomorrow.
We'll be talking at 2 o'clock tomorrow.
You can catch it at 2 o'clock tomorrow with Zach Berman and Boe Wolf.
Thanks everybody for watching.
Thank you to Andrew for making it all happen today.
We've got a fun few shows coming up at the end of the week as well.
We'll have the Duffman joining us on Thursday and Friday.
on Friday, we are doing a big one.
We've got the Super Bowl draft,
where we are looking at the three recent Eagle Super Bowl rosters.
We're each going to draft our own respective rosters from that.
That'll be a fun event and lots of fun stuff coming.
So for Zach and Andrew and Tony and Mike, we thank you for watching.
Thank you for listening.
We will talk to you tomorrow.
And as always, we love you.
You know,
