Hello, everyone to the PHLY Eagles podcast live from the X-Finity studio, presented by X-Finity,
Bet-365, and True Mark Financial Credit Union, Beau Wolf, E.J. Smith.
And what a day we have. We're talking over-unders for the Eagles in this season.
But before we get to that, the waivers have hit. The Eagles have made a claim.
And what a payoff this is for a long time, P-H-L-Y Sickos.
Think about this.
We talked about it on the P.H.O. wide draft show with Fran Duffy, his favorite player in the draft.
We talked about it last week with a certain national reporter.
We Willie Lampkin, the offensive lineman from UNC, the undersized guy who had everything else you could ever want.
Claimed by the Eagles, E.J. Smith, he is an eagle.
We will talk about it in a sec.
But first, let's hear what Mina Kahn said about it.
How has Willie Lampkin looked?
Oh, I got heard the last game.
We did?
I didn't know that.
Yeah.
I was, okay, this is a funny one because,
um,
I like,
Rams preseason,
which I call,
I,
I truly didn't know that they picked him up in free agency, right?
I'm not keeping track of the UDFA signings around the league.
Then you're looking at the depth chart for the first preseason game and I see him
and I get really excited comes into the game and I'm like gassing him up to the point where
everyone's like,
are you really like,
this is the,
you know,
we're in the third quarter.
this is an undrafted center.
He's tiny.
Are you making fun of him?
Yeah.
Yeah, I was like, no.
Like, I'm telling you guys.
And I got a little grief for people.
Like, you weren't grinding.
I was like, yeah, I wasn't.
I was watching Omari and Hampton.
Like, and Drake May.
Like, all of us who do the draft have just watched a lot of UNC
over the last couple of years because of those first rounders.
But watching O'Mary in Hampton, I thought I was, I was like,
this kid looks unbelievable.
Like, I was so impressed by him.
And it's also just like so physically unique.
I mean, when he's on the field, it's just, it's crazy.
Really, yeah, and like, centers are short.
Obviously, Philly is no stranger to that with Kelsey, but, like, he is short, right?
And he played so well in week one.
Then a week two, he got injured pretty quickly, which was such a bummer.
So we'll see what happens.
The Rams are in a unique spot because they actually have a ton of center depths.
They brought back Coleman and Shelton from Chicago and Bo Limmer, who started for them.
That's Jaylon Carter knows Bo Limer, by the way.
And Dylan McMahon, my guy, Dylan McMahon.
Dylan McMahon, yeah.
So they have a lot of center depth.
So I'm not sure what's going to happen with Lampkin,
but I feel like he's going to get picked up somewhere.
All right.
So the Eagles have Dylan McMahon.
E.J., give us the scoop.
Welcome to the show, by the way.
Yeah, you know, I had to give you the clear out today.
This is an ISO bow type of, yeah, type of.
Give us the scoop on the transactions the Eagles have made since we last spoke.
Yeah, so the Eagles have waived Trevor Keegan and Tristan McCollum to clear two spots on the roster for Charlie.
Like vindication for people who didn't have them on the roster, but, you know, that's okay.
I'll give you credit because you did call the fact that they could go thin at safety because Cooper to Gene factors into that position.
But yeah, they wave those two players to clear space for Charlie Hewlett.
He is back with the Eagles after being out in the cold yesterday.
So my guess there is they tried to bring him back on the practice squad and they had a nice handshake deal with the agent until another team came calling and wanted to put him on the active roster.
So they said, okay, we'll bring him back.
Yeah, yeah.
That's a good reading of the situation there.
And then, yeah, Willie Lampkin is the addition on the waiver wire.
Really?
Yeah, no, he's an interesting player.
I'm very excited to talk about just how unique of a guy he is.
And I mean, come on, there's not many times you're going to read in a Fran Duffy scouting report.
But damn it, he's a good player, you know?
Well, what a tease, EJ, because guess who joins us now on the Xfinity Mobile call-in line,
the biggest fan of Willie Lampkin.
Look at the smile on this guy's face.
Fran, congratulations.
Just what a wonderful, wonderful day.
I just teased my appearance on social media by saying this is the biggest
acquisition for the Eagles since Sequin Barclay.
Just an unbelievable, momentous occasion.
Not literally, though.
Not literally, no.
I mean, this is a true outlier from a size standpoint for the offensive line.
We did our draft shows back in the spring.
And, you know, you allowed me to wax poetic on Willie Lampkin.
I remember the day when you're like, you know what?
I have my guy.
Yeah.
And I remember you, you watched him.
You're like, I just love him.
I can't talk about this player without smiling.
I was thinking about that earlier.
He's just, look, he's five, ten and a half.
I remember when I was down to the senior bowl in January and they, you know, you give out the, the measurables.
And I'm looking at the weight.
And I was like, 270 pounds.
It was like, that's got to be like a misprint.
There's no way an offensive lineman is here at 270 under 511.
I was like, oh, maybe, maybe it's like, is it a linebacker?
Did they mean, no, this guy goes out and he is just, he's a rolling ball of razor blades every single time he takes the field.
You wouldn't know that he's like a size mismatch from like a frame standpoint.
You watch him every single practice down at the senior bowl.
You watch him on tape at North Carolina.
You watch him in the preseason in the NFL.
And honestly, I wonder how much of it was, you know, because this was a guy I thought would be a good fit here in Philadelphia,
given the success that Jeff Stoughtland had with Jason.
Kelsey and certainly what we've seen from Cam Juergens, guys that are on the smaller side,
certainly at center. And when you look at Lampkin, I was all right, this would make a lot of sense.
Now, the Eagles passed on him numerous times. He goes to undrafted free agency. He ends up with the Rams.
But then you see him when he's healthy in that first preseason game. And he's just, I mean,
he's got a body count of like five or six off that game. And then he gets hurt.
Yeah. Look, Willie Lampkin, he gets me fired up. I'm excited.
So I have, well, clearly the Eagles really like him because he was waived injured.
So they're carrying him right now, even though he's not going to be ready to play, presumably.
But I think you know what I'm going to ask.
Is there any chance that not only is Willie Lampkin working with Jeff Stoutland,
but he's also potentially coming for Ben Van Van Sumerin's job?
Could be.
You know, look, he, they moved on from Trevor Kegan, a guy that you know, a guy that you
insinuate that I hate. So it's only right that you would then say that's Ben Van Van
Samirer. Yeah, that's a fair shot. You think I did think that that was a fallback plan for Willie
Lamkin was that he could be, you know, Scott Matlock out with the Chargers. And you look at there,
there have been like some heavy fullback tight ends that are essentially sixth offensive linemen,
but line up with the tight ends. There are a couple of those around the NFL. And I thought that that
that would be a fine fallback option for Lampkin if center just proved to be too much.
But I got to be honest, like watching him, you know, from the preseason.
I'm like, yeah, this guy, this guy belongs in the NFL.
That was actually something I wanted to ask you about, Fran.
You know, obviously the size limitations, seeing him against bigger, you know, grown men on the interior line.
Obviously, the preseason is limited sample size, maybe not going against the best competition at times.
But what did you see from him in the preseason?
And also, I guess, the senior bowl as well, that would inform.
how he will transition playing in the NFL.
Well, just going back to the senior bowl, you know, again, when I, when I saw the,
the official measurements from down there in Mobile, I'm like, all right, like this, this could
be a bloodbath.
Every once in a while, that happens where, you know, the numbers are a little bit short
at a certain position.
So a guy gets invited from a bigger school or even from a smaller school and they'll say,
all right, well, let's give this guy a shot.
And it just, it just doesn't go well.
The guy's, he sticks out like a sore thumb and he just gets overwhelmed.
Going through watching him live and then watching through the tape, I'm like every single
rep. This guy just, he just gives everything he's got and he wins more than he loses. He just
gets the job done, even though he's significantly smaller than so many of the guys he's going up
against. Now, the problem that Lampkin had, the reason why he went undrafted, honestly, is that he
went to his pro day, wasn't invited to the combine, went to his pro day, and he didn't test well.
So you're really, really small. You're like, you're an outlier. And then you don't test well. Once that
happened, I was like, yeah, he's probably not going to get drafted. But then when you go into the preseason,
you show that one game of healthy film and you look the way that he did where I mean again he got you got like
four or five guys down on the ground yeah he's got it's second half of preseason right or you're you have to
keep the context there but to to see what he showed in that small sample size I think it's certainly
good enough to be able to take a shot on especially look I had a draftable grade on me he was in my
top 175 in my top 200 like I thought that this was a guy that you can come in and potentially
become a starter down the road I think it's worthwhile
taking a shot here to see what he's got and get him into the building.
And so, so technically, what are, as Jeff Stoughtlin likes to say, the unique traits
that Willie Lampkin has that allow him to overcompensate for being so slight?
Yeah, I mean, number one, the, you know, you talk about like the low man wins and all that stuff.
He has got the, we love a low man wins.
We love, we love a low man wins, right?
Even though he didn't test well, like this is a good athlete on tape.
Like he is excellent as a puller, like on those sweet plays.
You get him out in the move.
He's really, really good in that area.
I thought that he climbed to the second level well.
He would latch on to linebackers and finish.
And again, it's something we saw not just in North Carolina,
but then you go and you see it in the preseason here this summer.
I thought that he recognized things well.
He was really smart and he's exceptionally tough and competitive.
And so to me, when you're looking at it and you say, all right, well,
really smart, really tough, and he's athletic.
Like, yeah, like that's something that you can certainly work with.
Now, he just didn't test well, but I think when you look at it, it's like,
all right, play speed versus time speed kind of situation here with Lampkin.
I can't explain why the pro day went as poorly as it did,
but it certainly is something that, you know, that happens every once in a while.
To your guys point about the utility potential here,
Tyler Steen did play 20 snaps as that six offensive linemen last year as an inline tight end.
So I do wonder, obviously, you know, we're dreaming a little bit here
about this guy being up on game game.
Getting the ball.
But I feel like he could have.
you know, he could eventually have that role from what we're hearing from Fran here.
Fran, I want to know from your experience watching the Eagles kind of, I don't want to say
they insulated Jason Kelsey because obviously he was, you know, a great player.
But at the same time, like being able to handle the smaller center within the scheme and
almost using that, using him as a weapon, you know, the pinpole scheme, you know, getting him out
into space.
I guess do you think that those types of mechanics that are already in place for the Eagles can
extend to this, you know, I guess the even broader extreme?
with Willie Lampkin and the size limitations he has.
Yeah, and that's why, honestly, Jay,
like I felt that he would be a good fit
here in Philadelphia for that reason.
You know, and I think that when you look at him,
yeah, it's not ideal to have a center that small,
but when you like bigger guards like Jeff Stoughtlin does,
that can offset it a little bit.
And so I think that that is certainly an area,
that that's why it felt like that this was a scheme
where he certainly would be able to fit.
All right, Fran.
I know you've got places to be
and we need to give you time.
to have a cigarette for a little bit.
I take a shower.
Yeah, take a cold shower.
Yeah, you gotta get yourself, you know, cooled down before you go do a kid pickup and
stuff like that.
I mean, this scouting report, it's getting me a little hot under the collar.
Unbelievable.
You know, state champion.
I'm so happy for you, Fran.
This is, this is wonderful.
I was, I was downstairs.
I'm heating up lunch.
I had like, you ever like, you take something out of the oven and you're like, oh, just perfect timing
and you open the door and you put it out and I'm letting it cool off.
And my phone's like blown.
I'm like, what he's going?
I had like two or three people text me and saying,
Lampkin, Lampkin, Lampkin.
I'm like, unbelievable, just a great day, great day.
All right.
Fantastic, friend.
We will see you tomorrow for the Spread Your Wins and Fly Draft.
I don't know if I'm going to be able to focus,
but hopefully by that I'll be ready to go.
Fantastic.
Thanks, friend.
The great Fran Duffy on the Xfinity Mobile call in line.
Okay.
That was great.
Are we all settled on?
roster moves
to my knowledge
I mean obviously
we're going to be
getting some practice squad
information probably here soon
no eagles claimed
around the league
worth noting
yeah but aniah Smith
did sign to the panthers
practice squad
which is interesting
makes sense
yeah it's a place
where they probably need
receivers right
yeah I mean
you look at
one of two ways
he either wanted
he looked at the panthers
opportunity as a better one
or the Eagles didn't want him back
probably leaned
toward the former there
I think he probably
I think so
better opportunity
yeah
sounds like
Kyle McCord and Andre Sam and of course the great Brandon Johnson have all joined the Eagles practice
squad so far yeah I feel a little vindicated you know I think there were some doubts about me saying
that a Kyle McCord was probably going to make it to the practice squad you know I feel like uh
I feel like I feel like I've been pretty pretty pretty on calm record there was only there was only
one national reporter there was a reporter he's going to have interest yeah the guy who will last to the
sixth round in a bad quarterback draft is going to pin and then put on bad tape and
the preseason and teams are going to be pounding all that you need to know is that I have had my finger on the pulse of the Kyle McCord stock reports this entire summer oh please
I got to run up to rush order just 100 and listen you know we haven't really talked about this face to face yet but well let's get into it actually where do we stand we have three people left in the king of the beach
so we incorrect you you incorrectly input Andrew to checkers roster there has been some administrative errors you you are not
ready to wear this crown. I literally am wearing it right now. I might be
pretending it. Yeah, that's true. They're them figuratively. Okay. The crowns of my basement.
All right. And so it's it's you, E.J. and Olivia. It's me E.J. and Olivia. It comes down to the
practice squad. Hold on. Me. You, you, Zangero. You Dave. D. Z. Yeah.
Yeah. So as I look at this here, here's what the people need to know. Yeah, this is what they came for,
for sure. Okay. You are rooting for.
Patrick Johnson
Yeah, I feel like that's gotta be a lock there
Harry Nickerson
Wait, I don't think I know I'm
Those are the three people you are you are rooting
Four to be on the practice quo
No, I don't have Patrick Johnson on mine
You according to this input that you did
You do look
There's a one right there
Oh
There might be some more administrative errors here
Oh my gosh
I've never claimed to mill my way around
You have to be deposed
You can't
If I predict the roster
But you got it wrong
You can't put up the stuff wrong
You don't start of the deal
Part of being the king
Is doing the administration
I was crowned king
For my ball knowledge
Running a spreadsheet
That's for the nerds
Come on let's be real
Football guy over here
We will
We will retallie this
Because Patrick Johnson was on my 5053
Well you can have a guy
In your practice squad
I did that
I'd never considered that
before. This is why, see, you just like are into the weeds with all this stuff. That's why
you had your rain. But, you know, all I got to say is 50 to 48 on the 53 man roster. That's all I
got to say. One guy didn't even make it 24 hours. I would have, I think I would have been better off
if we did this today instead yesterday because I didn't have Keegan on. Yeah. And I feel vindicated by
that. Yeah. Yeah. So the King of the Beats is TB. That's right. I still got right what they should
have done. So I love the reframing. Like, oh, this is. Yeah.
They clearly how he watches the show that's the reason they signed Willie Lampkin
We appreciate true that they're playing this he's like I heard come yeah
He heard me mean isn't on this guy friend he's on in on this guy must be missing something
So you know they must have missed Tuesday's episode Monday's episode yeah when I gave him the answer key
Hopefully by the end of this episode we're doing a little
But you're not we're not going to announce all 17 practice squad maybe we'll get enough
Never know I got to figure out how Patrick Johnson ended up on my practice I think
I don't believe Dave or Olivia has ever won before.
Me and Dave had the exact same 50.
Yeah.
So that'd be a nice lifetime achievement for Dave.
I hope it's Olivia.
I hope we have a queen of the beats.
Queen of the Beats would be great.
Queen of the Beats would be very good.
She said that she told me yesterday,
she's like, I'm already the queen of the beats.
I'm the only one here.
I'm the only woman on the beat.
Wow.
I am the queen of the beat.
Say it with some pride there.
Big Jess.
You know, Olivia,
may have besmirched my good name a couple weeks ago with her guy clip but she is the queen of
the beach does a good job and she made some bold choices and she was right about them including
Trevor Keegan okay she said she was crunching the film of him at guard saw something wasn't that
good enough I mean she was right she got her right okay let's take a quick break and on the other side
we are going to get into the over unders for the eagles a bunch of them thanks to our friends
at Bet365 and a bunch of them created by ourselves.
So coming back with that on the other side.

Okay.
Right now, this very second, this is the demarcation where we flip the page.
From the 48th, 49th, 50, 51st, 52nd, 53rd player on the roster to the star.
the guys that we're going to be talking about for the next
if you guys are lucky six months
so Jalen Hertz
the Eagles quarterback I haven't talked to a lot about
Jillen Hertz you know over the past honestly like how much
plus weeks EJ probably spent 10 times the amount of time on Jalen Hertz
as we have Darius Cooper like we have spent
yeah we've we've talked more about Dorian Thompson Robinson than Jalen
Hertz well that's partly because of the bit yeah but yes we
definitely have been in the weeds but listen I think that's
partly what the listeners come for is that we will give them top to bottom coverage of the roster.
But now it is time to talk about some of the big picture stuff.
It's going to be fun to zoom out.
Okay.
Let's start with the passing game.
Jalen Hertz, these are courtesy of Bet365.
And the question here is, do you think that the egos are going to lean a little bit more into the passing game than they did a year ago?
Do we start?
Jalen Hertz right here, we're going to go over or under.
I hate that.
The first one for Jailen Hertz is 3,200 and a half passing yards.
Now, for context, E.J., last year, he had 2903, so he was under.
But the two years before that, since getting A.J. Brown, in 2023, he was at 3858, and in 2022,
3701, and that was with two games missed.
So, Jalen Hertz over?
or under
3-200-5 passing yards.
I think the question really boils down to
whether you think the Eagles will throw the ball more this season.
Because if you look at it, Jalen Hertz ranked,
I think it was 19th or 20th in passing yards last season.
He ranked fourth in yards per attempt.
So this was more about a volume.
It was more of a volume issue than it was an efficiency issue from last season.
And I do think that the Eagles are going to have to balance out their offensive approach
this season.
I don't know if it's going to be from week one.
I don't know if it's going to be a mid-season shift like it was last year.
But I think at some point, you know, the other shoe is going to drop.
Teams are going to be focused more on Sequin Barclay.
Obviously, they can still run the ball, even if teams do key in on the running game.
But I do think that the passing game will have to be more complimentary at times this season.
And because of that, I'm pretty confident on the over.
The over.
He's going up.
I agree with you.
I think we can have a larger conversation about Chalen Hertz.
I think this summer, the way things played out with AJ and Devante both missing time,
I think he's going to play to his advantage because he got a little bit more time with some of the other guys.
Yeah.
We have a John Dotson question coming up about how often he'll throw there.
But for all the reasons we've talked about with AJ Brown too, like, you know, he wants to put a stamp on it.
I think the Eagles are going to throw more enough that this will be worth it.
they're going to, you know, all of a sudden not give the ball to Sequin,
Barkley 20 plus times a game.
But we're talking about, you know, 300 more yards passing than he did last year
when they were so far on the extreme.
Yeah.
And he missed two games.
I feel pretty good about the over.
Yeah.
I also think that there's a Super Bowl freedom that you get or, you know,
you get a little bit more leeway.
You know, you saw it with Dick Siriani, the Kevin Petullo, Ohio earlier in the offseason.
And I feel like, you know, we've heard about the straight jacket from Jalen Hertz.
And I do feel like winning a champion.
championship legitimizes you, legitimizes you a little bit more in the freedom that you have.
He already did seem, he did have a good amount of freedom even before last season.
I think that even more so now, and especially with Kevin Petullo, I could see that being a little
bit more of a partnership than in years past with somebody like Kellan Moore, just in the sense
that I think he's going to have even more input.
So I feel like there is reason to believe the passing game will be more expansive.
And to your point, like it doesn't have to be that much more expansive for this number that we,
that were laying down.
If you told me it was 3,600 or 3,700, now we're starting to talk about like that top 10 in passing.
Opportunity might really factor into that.
But when you look at all of the different ways he could achieve that number, I do think that it's a pretty confident over for me.
And I think, you know, the way that the summer played out where everybody's, you know, he won the Super Bowl, but, you know, he's not really an elite quarterback and all that good stuff.
The way that we know that Jalen is wired.
Yeah, he loves that stuff.
Yeah.
I think there is a chance that this becomes like, like, Sequin's season was last year.
This could be Jalencies.
Yeah, okay.
Could see that.
Next up for Jalen Hertz.
He remains with us here.
19 and a half passing touchdowns for Jalen Hertz.
Last year he had 18, the year before that, 23, the year before that, 22.
I would say given that, I'm more willing to go under on this one than the passing year.
Yeah, I mean, just like for every player, I feel like, for every player on the Eagles offense,
the touchdown numbers are skewed because of the touch push.
So I feel less.
confident about it.
But then again, like, I mean, 20 is the number?
Like, there are, there were, let's see,
18 quarterbacks who threw for 20 touchdown passes or more last season.
Like, I mean, Gailen Hertz should be higher than that.
I think that the numbers do get skewed because if you told me it was total touchdowns,
I would feel more confident about the number being something I expect.
But yeah, I could see that the tush push kind of griefing Jalen Hertz back.
So you've got to go on the record here.
You're going over under.
I'm still going to go under.
I mean, I, you're still going to go under.
Yeah.
Or no, sorry, sorry.
I'm going to go over.
You're going over.
And I'm going under.
All right.
Next up,
we have Jalen as a runner.
Over under 600 and a half rushing yards for Jalen Hertz.
To tell you where he was the last couple seasons.
Last year was over 630,
the year before that,
over just barely at 605.
The two years before that,
he was in the 700.
So he has four years in a row gone over 600 rushing yards.
Do you think he will rush as much this season?
I think he,
will you and i haven't had this conversation i think this is an interesting conversation do you think
that jalen hertz is playing style is a prohibitive factor a limiting factor in his longevity do you think
that it is something that needs to pare down i feel like this is a conversation we have every summer
and i's a little tiresome yeah i feel strongly about this one though tell me i i think this is who he is
yeah i think he takes pride in being the triple threat quarterback he's talked about it before and when
you like talk to me about different career trajectory trust
trajectories. I feel like Jalen is one that like if you told me that he's got like the Cam Newton
career arc where it's like he's going to play this way. He maybe won't be a starting quarterback in
his mid to late 30s because he plays this way. I think like get the years of him as an elite player
and part of him being an elite player is the running contributions, not only have what he can do
extending plays and as a scrambler, but being plus one in the run game, being a part, you know,
having that quarterback run angle in that offense. I feel.
like it's what makes him elite. So I don't think that there should be any encouragement to take that
away from him. Like, you know, you pay him all this money to be this player. You can't then try to change
him. So I understand the concerns about the longevity. I think I take eight to 10 years of Jalen Hurd says
the triple threat rather than have 12 to 15 of Jalen trying to limit that part of his game.
You have talked to his family about how he feels about some of these things. And, you know,
We see clips of him
and talking about like, you know,
I'm going to get freaky in the open field
and stuff like that.
But knowing, this is a guy who has studied football history
and is very aware of like
the racial tropes of quarterbacks
and like how black quarterbacks are painted
vis-a-vis white pocket quarterbacks.
Do you think that it matters to him
in terms of the way he wants to play
that he's able to prove that playing like a quote-unquote
black quarterback
can be successful.
I mean, he just won the Super Bowl.
Yeah, no, I think that there is an element
of trying to reclaim that type
or that definition.
You know, the triple threat thing
is kind of a repositioning of
well, running quarterbacks can't win.
I think he takes pride
in having that element to his game,
but also I think there's,
it's not a coincidence that he's not talking
about dual threat.
You know, it's the fact that it's,
you know, the running, the passing,
and also his processing.
So I do think that there,
I think he wants to,
I think he wants to prove all of those things,
but I also think in talking to his fans,
and just being around him the last several years.
Like, I take him at his word.
You know, there are some things that he can say
that you kind of get into the weeds about
and you have to parse, but one thing I don't think
you have to parse with him is that it really is just
about the final score.
And I think that, you know, to a certain extent,
that is partly, I think that informs, like,
why you wouldn't want to change him as a player.
You know, I don't think he's someone
that spends a lot of time thinking about
the preservation of his, you know, career,
necessarily over winning the game that's in front of him.
So, no, I think it's,
It's a good point by you though.
I do think that he tries to redefine like the running quarterback.
Like, you know, even the misperception that being athletic and being able to run means that
you can't think.
Yeah.
Well, and also the misconception that like, oh, well, running quarterbacks don't win championships.
I heard that like two or three years ago.
I wrote a story about it after the Super Bowl against the Chiefs three years, three seasons ago.
You know, that like if Jalen were to win a Super Bowl, he would be the first true dual
threat quarterback to win a Super Bowl.
So I think all of that stuff is stuff that.
important to him.
He's aware of it.
But I do think again, like...
Also makes the team better.
Yeah, sure.
No, and I think that is what...
And it does, and actually, like,
it does play into the larger national conversation
about where he ranks as a quarterback
because it is very easy to cast aside
what he brings as a runner.
What he,
what that means for the team's actual running game.
Like, you know,
you know, in the Justin Herbert conversation, right?
Like, oh, look at the throws that he can make.
But it, it's not as tangible.
and so it's easy to discount,
but it's a huge part of what makes the offense successful.
Yeah, absolutely.
So I don't know.
I think that Jalen Hertz discourse this offseason has been tired at times,
strange at times,
but it is weird to me to see like the NFL top 100
and see Jared Gough four spots ahead of Taylor.
It's like, what are we doing at this point?
And again, I have, I've said it before,
I've got a type of quarterback.
And some of this is informed by like the tropes
about black quarterbacks, if I'm being honest.
Like you see these guys with incredible traits
that do need to maybe develop in certain areas.
And I feel like so many people write those guys off.
So to me, like in the league, in the league included, like, that's going to be too much work for me.
Oh, for sure.
And like to me, it's like coaches, like, that's what you get paid for.
Like, that's the stuff you can teach.
So, yeah, I think that it's like it's so polarizing.
And I feel like, you know, everyone is kind of on their one side or the other.
And here we are kind of in the middle with a nuanced discussion about Jalen
Hertz is better than Jared Gough.
Like, come on.
Let's be real here.
Yeah. I do think that like it would be nice to see him take fewer hits.
That's kind of what Seguan and Barclay is for.
But yeah, like having him be a plus one on the running game
and do stuff after the snap is a huge part of the offense.
Yeah, so I would take the over on me.
Yeah, we're going over. We're going over on Jalen Hertz.
Okay, I believe the last one, I know we have two more on Jailen Hertz.
12 and a half rushing touchdown.
So this is a big push-push one here.
And he, of course, has been one of the most.
most prolific touchdown scores in the league over the past few seasons.
He had 14 last year, 15 the year before, 13 last year.
So this is just barely where he's cleared.
I actually, I might be willing to go under on this one.
I don't think I am.
I feel like everything we know about Nick Siriani is that he's going to lean into this,
not go away.
So are we going to do another, are you going to go under with me here?
I'm going to go under here.
Yeah, I'm saying, are we going to do that?
Okay.
Last one we have here, and this is a, this is an Egypt.
creation. This is over under 4,200 total yards from scrimmage. Yeah, so I feel it. So I think it was
4,000 total. I mean, you can do the mental math better than I can if you add the passing and
rushing. I mean, it really is just kind of a reflection of what we talked about. I think over. I think
that Jalen Hertz is probably going, I think he will have a better season this year than he had last
year. I think that, again, I think there's going to have to be a response to teams keying more
in on the running game. So, yeah.
I'm going to take the over.
I actually made it $4,200 instead of $4,000 to kind of make it a little bit harder.
But I still take the over on that one.
Got it.
Okay.
I think we have the, let me be all of the practice.
It's not quite 17 on the practice.
But you guys have announced some practice squad.
I'm so nervous.
Additions, okay.
Well, you know what?
Pull up, pull up your practice squad predictions.
Okay.
And tell me how many of these you've gotten.
Okay.
Hang on.
I'm going to do, I'm going to make sure I get my action.
There are one, two, three, four, five.
7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14.
So there's still three spots open.
Okay, I did have practice, Patrick Johnson,
on both my roster, my practice squad.
Oh, okay, so you did input it correctly.
Yeah.
Okay, well, then in that case,
let's pull this bad way up,
and I'll tell you who it's good for.
Oh, man.
Okay, here we go.
Wait, I got the spreadsheet.
You just read them off.
Well, yeah, but I'll do it.
Okay.
Chance linebacker, Chance Campbell.
That's not good for anybody.
Not on anybody's of the three of you,
between you, Dave, and Olivia.
Elijah Cooks.
That's a hit for all three of you.
Nicely done.
Kenyon Green does land on the practice squad.
That's a little bit interesting,
and that is bad for E.J.
You do not have Kenyon Green,
so you are at a minus one deficit here
with Dave and Olivia.
We got a lot of time left.
E.J. Jenkins lands on the practice squad.
Okay.
A former Bowulf Camp Crush.
All three of you had E.J. Jenkins.
I need to separate myself.
From one camp crush to another,
Brandon Johnson, of course, lands on the practice squad.
Bad for Olivia.
That is bad for Olivia.
You and E and Dave both had it.
So that right now puts you and Olivia on equal footing.
And Dave Zangero up in the lead.
Oh, man.
Patrick Johnson is on the practice squad,
and that's bad for Dave.
And now we're tired again.
Next up, Cameron Lattu.
somehow none of you
had Cameron Latu on your practice squad.
Andrew DeCechko did have him,
but he had 49.
Okay.
All right.
Next up,
Terrace Marshall is back on the practice squad,
and this is bad for Zangero,
and you're tied with Olivia.
Dave goes from up one to down one in one fell swoop.
Next up, Kyle McCord.
All three of you have Kyle McCord,
no blood there.
Perry Nickerson remains on the practice squad,
and oh no,
Dave Zan Garrow doesn't have him.
He's town, too.
And you and Olivia are tied.
Oh, man.
Next up,
Holland Pierce.
Nobody had
Holland Pierce.
Who, next up,
Antoine Powell Rylitt.
And E.J. doesn't have him.
And Olivia doesn't have him.
And all of a sudden,
Dave St. Garrow is back in the game.
He's just one down.
Next.
Eli Rigg.
EJ's got Eli, Dave's got Eli, Olivia's got Eli, no blood, which brings us to Andre Sam.
And Andre Sam is on all three of your practice squad.
So right now as it stands, with three practice squad spots remaining, you and Olivia are tied one up on Dave.
Cliff is going to be so excited for his girl Olivia.
but and here is where it could swing
the Eagles wave Trevor Kagan today
oh that's good for me
if they resign Trevor Kegan to the practice squad
Olivia does not have Trevor Kagan on the practice squad
you do
that could swing it
who's her swing people Olivia
and Dave both have Jacob Sykes
who you do not have that could swing it
and as I'm looking
Dallas Gant
Max and Hook
would be one for you
Lance Dixon
would be one for you
Brett Toth would be one for her
which could potentially happen
but it's unlikely
and Dallas Gant would be one for
could come down to which Toledo
linebacker they bring back
I like both of those guys
but I feel like Lance Dixon
I mean I obviously think so too
yeah I'm surprised Max and Hook's not back yet
this has been I wow
I'm not sweating currently
Honestly, the betting odds right now would be a little bit in your favor, given what is still at stake here, especially with Trevor Kagan potentially coming back.
I was sweating midway through you reading that.
I was legitimately sweating.
I got to show the people what it means to me.
I can't believe.
You see what's on the line here, everybody.
This is fantastic.
Me versus Olivia after she, again.
Yeah.
My guy, Cliff.
She was.
Oh, my God.
The intrigue.
All right.
Quick break.
We'll come back.
We've made it through one player so far.
As we had to.
We were like,
we're going to talk about all the main characters today.
It's going to be great.
And we spent 20 minutes on Willie Lampkin and 20 minutes on the king versus queen of the beats.
Can Olivia and I just be king and queen of the beats if we're for one and two?
If it's a tie?
If it's a tie, then we could be comonarchs.
No, you've got to fight to the death.
I can't fight Olivia.
Well, you've been fed me up.
All right, quick break, and then we'll come back and get into more of the over-underers.
You know, we need to talk about the good people at Righteous Felon.

Very strong.
I was thinking about taking my son to a baseball game this week.
Philly's still in town?
Guess where I'm going to look?
Not a second thought in my mind.

All right.
Sequin Barclay.
Never heard of him.
Who?
Sequan Barclay, let's go to his rushing yards.
Of course, last year, top 2000.
This year, it's just at basically 1,400.
1399 and a half.
Rushing yards for Sequin Barkley.
Star running back, are you going over?
or under.
I feel like with Sequin this year,
I feel pretty confident in the over.
Now, like, we are dealing with the injury risk,
and there is something inherently difficult to predict about that.
But I think that that is baked into this number.
I think that there is the fear that, you know,
the 2,000 yard season, the heavy workload will have a residual effect.
But the more I think about it, you know, talking to Seacuan
and just being, it was watching him this summer,
and just generally just thinking about like how this might look this season,
I feel like we may be overstating that perceived risk.
Like there are examples in the NFL of running backs coming off of a heavy workload
season and wearing down.
But there are also examples of guys, especially guys to who like quite frankly are like that
99.9 percentile athlete being able to sustain that level of production and that workload.
I think obviously Derek Henry is the gold standard there.
But I feel like Sequin, if you put him on the spectrum of some of those heavy workload guys,
he is closer to Derek Henry than he would be a Todd Gurley or an Ezekiel Elliott.
I do.
We need to say, I mean, listen, it was a much different situation with the Giants.
But his previous season high was 1312 in 2022.
So he has only crossed this threshold once.
Okay.
And crossed it hugely last season.
But you bake in the injuries.
You just think like, okay, what if?
you know, he had like six 50 plus yard touchdown runs.
Like what if he only has two of those?
You know, what if he's not quite as explosive and he's still a very efficient back
and one of the best running backs in football?
But it's just not, you know, 60-yard touchdowns.
Yeah.
That crepes it down a little bit.
I don't think it's crazy to say that he's going to go under here.
But I think for the reasons you said, seeing what he's been,
I'm not going to take away 600 rushing yards.
Yeah, let's say.
It's just a, I think I probably would also go over.
Just a little over here.
But yeah, I agree.
I feel like you just have, you see what.
Good job, buddy.
You see how versatile the Eagles offensive run,
how versatile the run game was last year.
It's just hard to imagine that he's not going to have the opportunity to do so.
The other thing I wanted to say is that like the injuries that he has had,
you know, because obviously he has an injury history.
They aren't really the ones that you worry as much.
about like wearing you down. Like the ACL in the modern time, in modern day, you know, in the
modern NFL, the ACL is not a career ruiner the way that used to be. And it's not like he's got
like these soft tissue injuries that are constantly coming up. So I just think the nature of the
injuries that he's had. And again, him being on, I think the right side of that like demarcation
line of if you can trust a guy to have a heavy workload for a few years in a row. I just, I think that
he, if it's a health question, I think he should be able to do it. How about over under 11 and a half
rushing touchdown?
he had 13 last year.
I'm taking the under on this.
Really?
I wanted to take the under on it last year too.
You know, it's funny.
Like, my friends will always ask me
for like fantasy football advice.
And I always tell him like,
you don't want my fantasy football advice.
I'm not nearly as good at it as you think.
And I told everybody last year,
like, I don't think Seekwan Barkley
is a great fantasy option
just because I don't think he's going to score a lot.
Oh, so we should definitely listen to you.
Yeah, so maybe you shouldn't listen to me on this one.
But I just think like the tush push.
I'm going over.
It's like, it's control what you can control,
right?
Isn't that what Jalen Hurts?
say so it's like three of those tush pushes turn into Sequin Berkeley touchdowns yeah I'm going
over I'm taking a tentative under on that's where you're going going under I just don't like that
all right you created one here for a non bet 365 player probably just to wrinkle ruffle my feathers yes
that's exactly why I did this uh Ben van sumerans here over under 65 offensive snaps for ben ben ben
Superman, look at those beautiful eyes.
So you hate the guy.
But then you do talk about how beautiful his eyes are.
I'm just curious.
I'll never look so good.
65 offensive snaps.
How are you feeling about that?
That's...
You want me to give you some context?
Basically just under for a game.
I can give you some context.
I'm going to go under.
I might just take the over.
I think this was a very well, well placed over under by me.
Oh, congratulations to you.
If you want to do some mental math here, he had 22 snaps last year.
Kari Blasengame had two.
And then we never forget those.
Grant Calcutera had 16 as a fullback.
And CJ Usoma had two.
Okay.
So what's, I don't know, did you do the mental math?
That was under 65.
Yeah, but like, theoretically, Ben Van Zuman should have a bigger role than that this year.
Theoretically, then he's also got to stay healthy for 17 games.
I feel pretty good about the other.
Yeah, that's, I feel like the health is fine.
I feel okay about this.
Totally Lampin's coming for his job.
I was going to say like I now you're talking me into like an offense you know where it's like straight up like you know you just get these get Willie Lampkin as a six offensive line.
You get BVS in the backfield and now you're just just beating teams up.
Beautiful people beat up ugly people.
All right.
AJ Brown.
I don't think that's how that goes.
AJ Willie put a stamp on it.
The year of AJ Brown.
The over under here, courtesy of Bet365.
1,150 and a half receiving yards for A.J. Brown, who obviously went over that in 2022.
Under last year, what did he do in 2023? Let's see.
2020.
23.
23 was way over, yeah. 1456. 106 catches.
Popped off two of the last three years with the Eagles.
Last year, just under a little bit. How do you feel about A.J. Brown?
I am going to be talking about this a lot in the next couple of days, probably the next week.
so get ready.
I think this is the year of AJ Brown.
I am very bullish on AJ Brown to put a stamp on it,
a monologue that we got during training camp.
I think he saw this offense,
you know,
revolve around Seekon Barkley.
He saw Seekoine as the primary driving force.
I do think there is going to have to be an action
to the reaction to that from other defense,
like I said.
And I feel like AJ Brown is the level of player
that he should be able to do that
in a wide receiver form.
I think that if he has,
ever had the opportunity to do that, which he could, you know, you start to think about how teams
can counteract the Eagles run game. Again, it's hard to because of how versatile their offensive
run game is. But if they start to drop a safety into the box, if they start to see more of those
single high defenses, I think AJ Brown just can be the driving force for the offense and can spell
them when they need it. So I'm taking the over. I would have taken the over if it was a lot more than
that. I think that this could very well be AJ Brown's best season with the Eagles.
I'm willing to believe it.
I think he's awesome.
I think he's the best player on the team.
I'm definitely going over on this.
So over on AJ.
I'm going to bring on this one.
I do like, you know, I do still think that the offense is going to revolve around Sequin,
but I think I think AJ's in for a big season.
Are you at all worried about AJ wants to make this his season?
He's not getting the ball enough.
How is that going to go?
I do think that he's been pretty open and honest.
about that internal struggle.
So I couldn't say,
I can't say that it's not something that could happen.
It's definitely something that could happen.
It's something that they are going to have to be mindful of.
But at the same time,
it is an internal struggle.
It's not like there isn't the push pull of,
if the team is successful,
he is not going to prioritize necessarily his role
in keeping them successful.
But I just,
I could see the same way that there was the come to Jesus moment
where it's like,
it's going to be a run first,
offense coming out of the biweek. I could see a point this season where it's like, okay,
we have been running our heads against the wall. AJ is the answer. And I think that I, for that
reason, I don't, I don't think it's going to happen. Okay. Now, for those reasons,
are you also going over on seven and a half receiving touchdowns for AJ Brown, seven each of
the last two seasons, 11 in 2022? The touchdown thing again, I'm always, I'm, I'm just skittish
on the touchdown thing. But yes, I mean, if I'm going to predict this guy to be like an offense,
So maybe not an offense player of the year,
but be the best receiver in football,
then, yeah,
I think I have to go with the over there too.
And what would you do if you did that?
I would go like this.
Over.
Okay.
I'm going to go over on that as well.
Okay.
Next up, Devante Smith, his partner in crime,
Skinny Batman,
over under $1,000,
I'm sorry, 850 and a half receiving yards
for Devantes,
Smith. If I'm so bullish on AJ, I can't.
Ah, you're borrowing.
Can't be as bullish.
Devante last year, 833, and then was a thousand yard receiver each of the two seasons prior.
You know what?
I'm taking the under.
If I'm going to be bullish on AJ, as, you know, to be completely fair and balance here, I have to take it from somewhere.
I don't, I mean, obviously I think Jalen's passing yards will be up, but enough to have both of those guys.
I don't know.
I might, I might, I might take the slight under there.
I feel great about you over here.
Yeah, it's probably great about the over here.
I just played 33 last year with 13 games played in a run heavy offense.
Yeah, I just,
give me the over here all day long.
If I'm going to be that strong on,
on AJ,
can I really be that strong on Devante, too?
Big time over.
No doubt about it.
So who are you going to borrow from?
I will make a hot dotson.
Well, I mean, it's not,
it's not borrowing from it.
Maybe AJ goes a little bit over.
Devante goes way over.
Okay.
See, I'm bullish on AJ.
You know, I'm, I'm willing to make this my,
my bed of the bed of the,
bed of the day.
Maybe you borrow from the tight end room on this one.
Yeah.
And you borrow from Sequin.
Okay.
All right.
He's also five and a half receiving touchdowns for DeVante Smith.
He had eight last season and seven each of the two years prior.
This one you're going over on.
Yeah, you got to go over on that one.
That was my best one.
That was a really good one.
Yeah, that was my best one.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Yeah, I'm going to go over to.
That one's, you're going in the wrong direction.
There we go.
All right.
Here's one for you that I made up, and I didn't tell you about.
Oh, God.
Jahan Dotson.
Jehan Dotson over under 12.7% target rate.
And what that number is is the highest percentage that Jalen Hurd says ever thrown to his number three quarterback, number three receiver.
Yeah.
Since AJ Brown.
So in, in 2022, that was the high.
Where did you even find this?
It was, oh, the true media.
It was 12.7% was Kwez Watkins.
12.7. That is that is the number. So it's basically that's the number.
2023, it was Alameda Zakias and he threw to him, his target rate was 6.4%. One of the lowest in the league.
Last year, Jahan Dotson was 8.2% towards the bottom of the league, especially for anybody who ran as many routes as he did.
Do you think that Johan Dotson is going to be significantly more involved in the offense than we saw last season?
Um, the training camp that he had would make me want to say yes.
But I just, and maybe this is like what I would like to see from the Eagles offense coloring my vision on this a little bit.
But it's like I wanted to be star driven.
I think it should be star driven.
And I think the answer to a lot of questions is to be star driven.
And for that reason, I just can't do it.
I can't get there.
If you told me that there is an injury that factors into it.
that is where we could look.
All you need is a couple injuries.
I mean, you have two guys who just need to get injured for a couple games.
This is a very good over under.
I'm going just slightly under.
Not convinced.
Okay.
I'm going to go under also because I got Darius Cooper.
Yeah, you've got the Darius Cooper of it all.
It actually doesn't affect it because it just means it doesn't get on the field,
but that's okay.
Yeah.
All right.
Last one on offense.
the offensive line
Jordan Milata
Landon Dickerson
Cam Juergens
there they are
Tyler Steen
and Lane Johnson
look at those five beautiful men
over under two and a half
pro bowl nods
you know how has nobody
done the Jordan Milata
and EJ comparison
oh the other way
come over here come on over
yeah
come on over
that's not bad
that's pretty good
I'm just saying
I mean the Dallas
Goddard one is
it's hard
You need a little bit
You need more beard
Yeah
And you need to be a little bit
less cheerful
That's true
I completely
Two and a half pro bowls
They were over last year
Yeah I mean
You feel pretty good
About the two tackles
Land is going to be
Playing through an injury
at the start of the season
I'm going to go over.
Yeah, I mean, it's no fun to go on this.
That, like, guard pro ball spot.
I feel like he's got that reputation at this point.
I'm going over.
I'm going to Juergens.
Nice job, buddy.
Yeah, Juergens like a sneaky one.
Yeah.
Okay.
Defense.
We start with a bet three six five line.
Nolan Smith over under six and a half sacks.
How many sacks do you think Nolan Smith had last season?
I'm going to guess four.
Six and a half.
Six and a half.
And he was better in the playoffs, too.
Get on.
Yeah.
Yeah, I was taking the over before, even looking at it.
I'm taking the over.
Over under, over, under.
You're going over over?
I'm going to go over to.
Nolan Smith.
Yeah, I mean, six and a half sacks.
Yeah, you should do better than he did last season.
Yeah, I mean, he's got to have more opportunities.
Yeah, the health is the big factor.
That's the downside of risk here, but I think he's going to be there.
Do you think, well, given the line you have for Jalen Carter, it's not the case,
but do you think that Nolan Smith is the most likely one?
to lead them in sacks?
I still, I think there's the potential for Nolan Smith to run away with it is there.
Like if you told me he had 14 sacks, I wouldn't, it would, it would, it would surprise me
a little bit.
He's the most likely to have 14 sacks.
Yes, exactly.
But is he the most likely?
I think he's the most likely to lead them.
I think he's the most likely, yeah.
Yeah, because it's just, it's harder as a defensive tackle to get the sack production.
So, yeah, I think he's the most likely to lead them, but I do think there are some other candidates
here that are going to be able to contribute.
Well, you set the overrunner.
This is you setting it for Jalen Carter.
You set it at eight sacks for Jalen Carter.
He had four and a half last season.
He had six a season before, though.
Yeah?
And I'm going to tease it.
There is a reason why I set this high
because I think that there is something else afoot here.
Like what?
Maybe his running made it along the interior defensive line.
Oh.
Maybe I read a story today.
Oh, okay.
So for Jalen Carlin.
Are you going over or under?
I'm still going over.
Wow.
The year of Jalen Carter.
Eight sacks for Jalen Carter.
Well, nine sacks in this exercise.
Is that the year of Jalen Carter?
Could be.
Find out if we're going over or under in overtime.
Eight sacks are going over?
Let me read you some of Aeronald's stat lines.
Okay.
Because that's big?
Well, it's big, but we're talking about Jalen Carter.
And the ceiling is...
How about like the next best guy?
Give me, you know, Dexter Lawrence.
Chris Jones, I think, is a better example, right?
Okay.
Okay.
So Chris Jones, last, let's go five seasons.
He had five sacks last year.
10 and a half the year before,
15 and a half the year before that,
and then nine in 2021,
seven and a half in 2020.
Okay.
So I think there is the potential
for him to have double-digit sacks is there.
I think he is that caliber.
I think it's there.
The potential's there.
Yeah.
but he's got to not be double-team.
So you think, you think, but because of Morrow Ojimo,
Jailancar is going to, is going to eat?
I think we have learned from watching the Eagles in the last,
I mean, since I've covered the team,
that the strength of your interior disruptor
is the player that's next to him.
If you have a guy that can command attention on their own,
win one-on-one, it will free up your superstar defensive tackle.
It was Fletcher Cox for a long time.
You think about the years he had with Javon Hardgre,
rave, even Timmy Jernigan before I covered the team.
And now you think about the year that Morrow Ajomo could have, and you did a great piece
today where Morrow Ajobo was one of these stars of training camp.
A lot of players think that he will be the player.
I'll let you talk about it because, listen, I mean, you're the one who did the work.
There's only one way to be able to read this story.
You got to be a diehard, okay?
$36 for a whole year.
You get access to the great new merch that we've dropped.
Okay?
Fantastic.
And if you do that, you get to read about what 28 Eagles said,
based on the summer, which Eagle is going to have a big season?
And I believe, based on the percentages,
this is the percentage of people who responded Morrow Ojamo
only matched over the past decade or so,
dating back to when Shield started this by Jalen Carter in 2022,
or in two years ago.
I didn't recognize the name that you said there.
Who started that?
That's okay.
I'll tell you about after the show.
So,
you know,
Gillen Carter's rookie season,
Moro Jumo now.
And the way that guys talk about
Moro Jumo,
like,
you know,
it's what he's done on the field.
They're talking about
he's getting called out
in defensive meetings
all the time for,
in a good way.
And also like,
nobody works harder
and cares more
about getting better than this guy.
Yeah,
and it tracks with what we've seen on the field.
So if you're telling you that this guy...
So you're telling you set a six and a half sacks
for Moro Jamo.
I think it's in play.
Milton Williams, most sacks in a season is five.
So you're saying Morrow is going to be
better in his first year than Milton ever was.
I slow played this a couple of weeks ago.
I said like Milton Williams had five sacks last year
and I think that is the floor for Morrow.
The floor?
I think he could be, I mean, he was better than him
at the end of last season.
And he's only in the Super Bowl.
But you know what I mean?
He was taking his snaps by the end of the last season.
He was taking his snaps in the beginning of the season.
No, in the post season.
Milton. Milton was awesome in the playoffs.
Yeah,
Milton was better in the playoffs.
Yeah,
he was better in the playoffs,
but you know what I mean.
Like,
Morrow was coming for this job even last year.
Morrow's a very good player.
And he looks even better coming into this season.
I agree.
The training camp he had,
I am six and a half sacks.
Listen,
I'll take your Morrow Jomo.
I got to just give me the under.
Jomo stock all day.
I love the guy.
He's going to have the opportunities early in the season.
And then I think that there's going to have to be a course correction.
You're going,
so you're going over on both Morrow and
Yeah, and I would go under on everyone except for Nolan Smith.
Okay.
Interesting.
All right.
A few more to get to.
Jihad Campbell.
Hard to say, what do we do for an offball linebacker?
But how involved do you think he will actually be as a rusher?
You set the overrunner at four sacks for the rookie Jihad Campbell.
It's a very tough overunder.
Nicopi Dean had three and a half last year.
No, Zach Bonn had three and a half.
Nikobe had three last year.
But he should have more operational.
Opportunities. I think I'm going under. I think I'm chickening out. I can't have everybody over on sacks unless I think this is gonna be the 2022 Eagles on a second I'm gonna go under, but I do think you gotta do it I'm gonna go under
But I don't feel great about it
You could tell I don't do very many over unders. Hmm
I'm gonna go under two yeah
I think that
What he's best at right now is the coverage chops in the range.
It's not necessarily the past rushing ability.
I don't, I think that there are going to be opportunities for him to do it.
I think it will be interesting to see when he can rush off of the edge.
But I don't know, I'm not as bullish on him as the past rusher as I am,
the off ball linebacker that can kind of do a little bit of everything.
Okay, Zach Bond.
Had an awesome season last year.
And in that season, he combined for 15.
TFLs and PbUs.
So you are setting the bar here
at the exact same number.
15 TFLs and PBOs
combined for Zach Bon
over, over, or under.
It's tough.
This one is also tough because I want to
make the argument, and this is probably the
argument I will make, is that he should be better
this season than he was last season. Obviously, he was
insanely good last season, but he is
more time on task at the position
going into this year, but then in the back
of my head, I'm going, he was pretty good from the very beginning last year.
You know, that game in Brazil against the Packers, he looked good in that game.
So do you think there's a regression to the mean here?
I just, I don't know if there's an argument for him regressing very much.
Other than he played out of his argument.
My argument is I would expect some regression on like the actual turnovers.
Like, yeah, not so many interceptions, not so many fumbles force and fumbles recovered.
But tackles for loss of PbUs?
I could, I don't, I don't have a problem.
I mean, I would probably, if I had to bet it, take the under just because I think that's where the odds would go.
But I have every expectation that Zach Bonn is going to be freaking awesome.
Yeah, I mean, five force fumbles last year, one interception.
If you told me, is you going to create six turn over opportunities?
I probably don't take that.
That doesn't count the playoffs.
Yeah.
Yeah, no, I think I'm taking, if you told me to guess a number, I'd guess like 16 or 17 for those two.
Okay.
All right, let's go rapid fire on the last four here.
We go to the secondary.
We start with Q, Quignan Mitchell,
you set the over under,
three and a half interceptions.
Over?
He's not going to get many opportunities, we don't think.
Yeah.
But he is a caliber of player that could do it.
Okay.
I think I'm going to take the over on this one.
Really? I feel pretty good about the under here.
Because he's not going to get thrown him very often.
And he's not going to catch in the ball.
He's been better out of this training camp.
Yeah.
I mean, he had won last year.
and he's going to get thrown at less.
I gain nothing from agreeing with you on this.
I'm taking the over, and then if it's over,
I get to take credit.
All right.
Cooper DeGine, straight up.
Over under, half a Pro Bowl nod.
Oh, over.
He's already getting so much recognition from his peers.
Oh, this is a very easy way to do it.
Under or over.
It's isn't over for sure.
All right.
The corners opposite Quinyon Mitchell.
Look at them.
Look at those beautiful boys.
Adore Jackson, Jacorian Bennett,
Keeley Ringo, Mack, McWilliams, and Cooper DeGine.
And what we're doing here, E.J.
is over under two and a half different starters over the course of the season.
And we're going to be,
we're going to be intellectually honest here.
So if they start the game,
in base,
corporate jeans on the field,
but he's not actually
the nickel's second corner
on the outside.
That doesn't count.
But how many times
will they cycle through
a new partner
opposite Quinion Mitchell?
Now, also being
intellectually honest here,
would we count?
Never been anything else.
Would we count like a week
or a game 17?
Like,
yes.
Okay.
I'm going over then.
That pushes me over.
That just gives me a little bit more
margin for error.
I could see this being
a Dory Jackson week one.
I could see it being Jacorian Bennett mid-season,
and I could see a Mac McWilliams sneaking out there
with the Cooper de Gene style player from last year.
So I'm going to go with that.
I think it is more likely to go under here
because what we wouldn't count would be if Quinyan gets hurt
and another guy has to play.
That doesn't count.
Yeah.
So odds-wise, I feel like it's more likely to go under.
I would take the under.
But I actually, if I have to think what I think is going to,
how the season is going to play out,
I probably would go over.
But I'm taking the under.
Sorry.
Wacked your computer.
Last one, Drew McCuba, the rookie second round pick.
Eagles already willing to wave Tristan McCollum today.
That is that probably, yeah.
Are you going over under 12 starts for Drew McCuba?
So I picked 12 because Cooper to Gene would have started 13 last year had he played in the final week of the season.
And just some of the nickel.
They started the game in base.
I think I'm taking the over.
I don't feel great about it,
but I think that he probably...
He's got to stand the field too, that's the thing.
Yeah, the health aspect of it,
but I think he will be the starter by mid-season.
Maybe 12 was too high.
If you told me eight, I'd take the over.
I'm still going to take the over.
I think the dream of code will be the starter.
I think he is too, probably sooner than later,
but he's got to stay healthy.
and, you know, there's no early season by,
when did they make the switch?
I'm going to take the over.
Yeah.
Do you see that Landon Dickerson was at practice?
I did not.
He was practicing, trying to get more details
from our friend, Olivia Reiner.
I mean, this is your competitor.
You guys are fighting for the throne.
Until a winner is crowned, I think we can...
Would DeNaris Storborn and...
I don't know.
Robert Barathean.
You know, that...
honestly call each other friends that isn't doors comp Robert Ravian and there's I mean I'd like to think
I'm a little bit of a nicer guy than than Bobby B but uh not a not a terrible comp you know uh yeah he's
in uniform they're in shorts and shells but yeah he's out there stretching with the you're heading
on over there after this I am to hear from some players yeah okay sounds good what a show
this was fun how does everybody feel about the you know the new graphics I
love it.
Julia is just
rocking and rolling.
Okay.
I think that's all we got.
Tomorrow, two o'clock,
the spread your wins in fly draft, baby.
Will anybody be able to take down the champion?
Probably not.
But look forward to it.
And this is also important.
Tomorrow morning, if you go to
the PHLY feed, if you really
care about nuts and bolts,
defensive football,
you're a Vic Fangio appreciator.
We have a nice,
lengthy, in-depth discussion
about what Jahad Campbell
is going to bring to the defense this season.
So check that out.
Separate video.
That will more than fulfill
your Eagles need for the day
before a show that will be more NFL focused.
Yeah, that was really good stuff.
Went really in depth on that.
Yeah, fantastic.
So thank you, Julia.
Thank you, E.J.
Thank you, Fran.
Thank you, Mina.
Welcome, Willie Lampkin.
He was glowing.
That was amazing.
That was great.
I don't think I've ever seen him so happy.
Fantastic.
That'll do it for this episode of the P.H.O. White Eagles podcast.
We'll talk to you tomorrow.
Like the video.
Subscribe.
All that good stuff.
Become a diehard.
And as always, we love you.
All silly like the mayor.
