Hello, welcome to the P. H.L.Y. Eagles show on the road, live from the Xfinity Mobile Studio.
And presented by Ashley Bowulf and E.J. Smith, we are boats on the ground in New England.
We just watched a long joint practice between the Eagles and the Patriots.
Lots of hard-hating football action.
You watched the Eagles defense against the Patriots offense.
I watched the other side of the ball.
We heard from AJ Brown.
We heard from the guys on the Eagles talking about AJ Brown.
Vic Fangio, Jalen Hertz.
Lots of good stuff to bring you, including some footage from practice.
Exciting show coming up, Eugene, how are you doing?
I'm doing well.
You know, joint practices have a lot of energy.
You know, I'm feeling the energy.
You know, I'm excited that we get to be outside today.
You know, I'm a football guy.
I like being out on the grass.
Shout out to Lindsay.
Great job about Lindsay getting this set up here for us.
And hat tip to you, you know, getting this arranged.
You know, offered some favors.
That was very nice of you.
We got the practice field on the background here.
but we are in Gillette Stadium.
Lots to get to.
Let's get to it.
Football heavy day.
You watched that side of the ball.
What was your number one takeaway
from watching the Eagles defense?
They've got Quinyon.
They've got Cooper DeGine.
How are they going to handle A.J. Brown?
Did the defensive line wreck things?
How to go?
Yeah, let's set aside the A.J. Brown of it all off the field.
Okay.
Quinyon Mitchell and A.J. Brown took center stage
at the very beginning of practice.
It took literally one snap for those two to be lined up
against each other, mono a mono and wide receiver cornerback one-on-ones.
I mean, it was like, honestly, it was Mike Vrabel and Nick Siriani, maybe doing a little
hat tip for us for team content.
You were right there to film that.
Oh, my goodness.
I was literally right there.
I mean, like, I was almost a disbelief that they, you know, it's literally the first
play of the one-on's, and AJ lines up against Quinion, go route down the sideline.
I mean, you really couldn't have scripted it any better.
And for the play, like, you know, I'm sure a lot of people have seen on so.
social media, we just played it on the show.
I thought Quineau was in really good coverage.
I do think AJ had good burst.
You know, like he kind of hit a second gear
against Quinyon, and Quinyon had to recover.
Afterward, AJ has said that
Quineon, you know, grabbed his jersey a little bit.
I think you can see that in the clip. I'm not sure that's getting
called in a game. I don't think so. You know, I think it's hand fighting
at that point. But yeah, Quinyon's in
good position. AJ tries to make the one-handed
catch a catch we've seen to make before,
but he didn't come up with that. Now, Quinyon spoke after
practice, and it was the only time when there
were two people speaking at the same time.
And I was talking to Bonn as, as Quignon was talking,
I had heard a little bit of Quignon,
but apparently he said that AJ looked better than he did last summer.
I agree with that.
Yeah, look spryor.
Yeah, I agree.
And that is honestly, again, I don't,
this isn't about AJ, like the drama of it at all.
This is like I watch the Eagles defense and they struggled with the Patriots receiving
core overall and in particular against AJ.
And we, you know, this Eagles defense, the secondary,
Devante has been missing most of the,
the summer so they haven't been tested.
Yeah, this is a superstar caliber, wide receiver.
It's probably the steepest transition for anybody on the field,
any position group on the field today.
You know, like you could think about the Patriots'
offensive line against the Eagles pass rush,
but to me, the thing that stood out is exactly what you said.
The Eagles secondary has looked really good this camp,
really quiet camp from that group.
Quinnian Mitchell has been adding interceptions to his game.
Today they got some really, really, like,
difficult work against what has been a rebuilt and talented receiving corps
It wasn't just Quinion Mitchell.
I actually thought Quinion had like a fine day.
The times he got beat, you kind of feel like, okay,
like that's going to happen.
You get beat by AJ Brown on a slant route.
It's kind of like tip your cap.
That happens to everybody.
I thought it was a tough day for Rick Wollin.
A handful of catches we can go through them.
But overall, I thought the Eagle Secondary looked a little bit worse
than I would have expected.
But I do have something else I want to add to this,
you know, as we talk about it,
which is I think that the Patriots passing style,
their approach in the past game,
kind of lends itself to looking good.
against the Eagles in practice, well, against anybody in practice.
Because there were a lot of instances where you go, like, did he actually, did he actually
have time to get that off?
Right.
You know, like, there's some, you know, Drake May invites a lot of pressure because he is
taking shots down field.
It's a different type of offense than we're used to seeing them against.
And you'll see some clips circulating online of like Drake May throw to AJ Brown where
Jahad Campbell is very clearly going to sack Drake May in the game.
So there were a few instances like that, but I still think overall.
It was a tough day for recall and tough day overall for the Eagles.
Well, it is.
interesting because just to quickly set like the stage of how things work today
there are these two practices up here and then there's one or these two fields up
here then there's another field down below and the first three periods of
practice the eagles are on their own down below and then everybody comes up and
it's just that that fourth period is the last period that we were allowed to film
and that's when it was one-on-ones you got the the good close-up view of those guys
I had a little bit of a further distance on the other side of the ball going one-on-ones
but then at the end of practice
everybody comes together
and it's on one field
and so that was the only time
that I really got to watch
the Patriots offense
against the Eagles defense
and as you said like Rieck seemed like he
was getting picked on a little bit
and some other people said he had a tough day
Yeah some people in the chat asking like who was it against
it was against pretty much everybody
it was AJ a few times
Romeo Dobbs got the better of him a few times
Mac Hollins got him in the scrimmage
the situational period at the end
so it really wasn't just one receiver
But what stands out as you were saying
about that Patriots offense
is they are a tallyer's
attacking different parts of the field
than the Eagles offense
attacks. Yes, right? And so
this Eagles defense right now
is not repped in
protecting those parts of the field.
And there's something else that we will get to
when I talk to Jalen Hertz about this.
But the Eagles are not
game planning for these practices. Yeah.
Right? They're showing up for football practice.
They're not
going into a game and knowing tendencies
and knowing what to expect. It's kind of just like
your, you know, baseline
playbook against our baseline playbook and we
sort of see what happens. So you could
expect that if Vic had a
week to game plan, it would look different.
That doesn't mean that we should say that, you know,
we shouldn't say that Rick had a not great
day and that AJ got the best of Quignan
a couple times, but I think it's important context.
Yeah, I completely agree. I want to hear what your big
takeaway was from the offensive side before we kind of
talk more holistically about the defense.
Yeah, I mean, it was a big run day
for the Eagles offense and it
was kind of like what
you would expect from a pretty good running game in a game where it was like, let's say over the course of,
you know, three team drills before the red zone at the end or the two minute drill at the end,
they ran the ball to Sequin like 15 times. Like five or six of them were like snuffed out and
tackles for loss. Three or four of them were like good eight to 12 yard games and then two or
three of them were like pops for 30 yards or something like that. It's like that's a good game
for the running attack. And that's pretty much what you're.
it looked like.
Sequin, I heard from somebody that, you know,
somebody with the Eagles who was watching with, you know,
their Patriots counterparts.
And the Patriots people were like, oh, Jesus.
Like, we don't, you don't see things like that.
Just the way, the way that we have talked about,
Seekwon this summer, and the way that he is, you know,
able to teleport from hole to hole and just those little,
really sexy bounces, you know,
laterally to then get himself into open space was really nice.
And the biggest play he made was on a running back.
screen and a kind of running back screen that we really haven't seen this summer and it was it was it was
absolutely perfectly executed the pressure came right at the perfect time sayquine's got one guy who
barely has a chance he makes it miss easily and he's off to the races see to me that is like one of
the biggest needle movers from a day like today because you know it's a good patriots defense
good patriots front and like this is something actually i did a q-and-a with the dieharts yesterday
on my train right up here and one of the questions was like is this team going to be a contender
And I said the thing that I will point to that makes me feel good about this team is I think they'll be able to run the ball well.
I think their defense is going to be really good.
Obviously the secondary up and down today, but like the evidence of the run game coming alive in this system I think is honestly probably I would say more important than if the past game is looking great at this point in the summer.
Yeah, we will get to Jalen who had an up and down day, but a couple really impressive throws.
Some of those came off the running stuff.
but I thought the context of what this practice is like for them is important
and, you know, Sequin was a big takeaway.
I will say on that side of the ball, there were times where Milton Williams looked like
the best player on the field.
Yeah.
You know, Milton Williams can rack a practice now.
I mean, he can.
Who is he primarily lined up against?
Well, it was like, it was a lot of Dickerson and in one-on-ones, which we can get to.
It was like four out of five clean wins for the Eagles' offensive line.
And then Milton made Landon look kind of like a jag.
Like really made him look bad.
It was one rap.
It's fine, you know.
But, yeah, Milton was out for blood today.
It was impressive.
Yeah, you think there is a little bit of an extra?
I don't know that it's...
Exeter form.
I don't know.
Yeah.
But it's just, it's kind of like, you know, you dumped me.
Now you got to show you what you're missing.
Now I'm living in a penthouse with a, you know, model wife.
Like, you know, how you like me now?
Well, I mean, I guess the Eagles fans would argue they're doing all right.
But yeah, I think Milton, I didn't get to see him very much, but I mean, he looked good.
He looked happy afterward.
I saw him walk up to the podium after AJ spoke.
So it was good to see Milton.
I did, you know, we'll talk like, again, we'll get to the AJ stuff later.
Well, why don't we do the AJ stuff now?
Okay.
I don't like, you know, we want to belabor this.
I think the thing that the message I want to give to the audience is like there was so much to take away from the practice.
I don't think we need to spend a ton of time like indulging all of the AJ drama.
but I do think it's like there were things worth reporting today.
Let's give it five minutes.
Let's do it in the Ace Hardware Home Services temperature check.
A.J. Brown spoke after practice, and it was funny because, you know, they've got the little
setup down there for where the Patriots are going to talk.
You have to go down to the bottom field where the Eagles are going to talk.
And I think most of the Eagles press corps was at the AJ Brown press conference, not the Lane
Johnson, Jalen Hertz, press conference where I was.
We were lucky to have two people.
Yeah, but to say that's the, you know, split it up.
what did AJ say?
That's the power of having both of us here.
That's right.
We can be two places at once.
AJ really wanted to look forward.
He wanted to diminish or downplay the idea that, you know, he's going to spend a lot.
He was going to spend a lot of time up there talking about the way the things ended with the Eagles
or, you know, how he was interacting with his teammates.
Like, we saw him run out before practice.
Made just like a B-line to the Patriots field, you know, didn't really have time for pleasantries,
which is fine.
You know, I think he was ready for practice.
You know, it was a funny contrast to middle.
Wilton Williams who like, you know, stopped and sent high to like 15 different people on his way in.
But, you know, AJ did speak to some of his teammates after practice.
And again, during the press conference, he got asked a lot of questions about the Eagles,
which is understandable.
You know, you think about the fact that we haven't heard from him since, like, I mean, November, December,
since the trade.
And, you know, a couple of things that people will want to hear about.
He says that he hasn't spoken with Jalen Hertz since the trade, you know, said he didn't get a chance to talk to him today.
and you know he said his message to eagles fans is basically like that he's got no bad blood it's all it's all love
you know he loves eagles you know he said there's a lot of love on the other side of the field with the eagles
and you know it was very complimentary of quinion mitchell outside of saying that he held him on the one rep
so yeah i think a jay was really trying to harp on putting the past behind him and really only
focusing on what's ahead for him uh devonte was asked if he had caught up with a jay nah was what he said
that's interesting the funniest thing was when jalen was asked about it was
really, really funny.
Because first he's asked, you know, like, did you get to see Jayla or AJ out there or whatever,
like on the field, you know, didn't really give that credence?
Was then asked about what advice do you have for Drake May for like getting through the
season with AJ?
What would you do?
He's like, well, you know, I don't, Jake May's been to a Super Bowl.
He doesn't need my advice.
You know, he doesn't really engage with that.
And then Jeff Neberg asked him like, did you, did you have a chance to talk to AJ today?
Did you talk to AJ today?
And Jalen, in like one of the funniest things.
changes of cadence that I've ever seen from him,
he was like,
you know what,
I don't think I have to, you know,
I didn't get a chance to.
Like,
as if,
as if this was something that he really wanted to do,
but just didn't get to it.
It was just like,
you know what,
I didn't get a chance.
You know,
I didn't even thought about it.
I,
I plumb forgot.
It was really funny.
There's still time.
He did a very good job.
Maybe tomorrow.
Jailen was very good today.
You gave a very good answer.
about a football aspect, which, you know, he doesn't always do.
Yeah.
So I was happy about that.
But that little thing was, you know, obviously he was prepared for the AJ questions.
Sure, yeah.
And I thought he nailed that.
He wasn't drinking water.
You know what?
I didn't give a chance.
I bet you they acknowledge each other's presence tomorrow.
I don't know.
Why?
I think it'll probably, I think it'll probably be like a pithy, like, performative, like, you know,
handshake or something like that.
I mean, if they do it.
you know that Jalen is a Michael Jordan
cosplayer till the end
he is going to give him if they
hug up if they dab up in front of everybody he's going to give him
a nephew bitch he probably will
no I shouldn't say that I shouldn't say that
yeah I mean wouldn't that be so funny it would be the only three words he
said incredible well I mean it was again it was uh you know it was
It was a big part of the story.
And actually, do you want to hear from AJ as we close this out?
Let's do it, yeah.
All right, we got a couple, we have a clip from AJ Brown's press conference,
and you guys got to appreciate the audio on this one.
I worked hard for that.
Let's do the first one.
The right people.
The right people.
And it's always we love, no matter how anyone feels.
You know, I love Philly, and I will always love Philly.
But I'm here now.
And that's where my feet are.
that's what I'm focused on.
Okay.
Yeah, it was a lot of like, no animosity, no bad blood.
Although, you know, obviously he's, he's placed for the New England Patriots.
Do you believe that?
Not entirely.
I think that it's probably all water under the bridge now.
It's behind him.
I think that that's fair.
But no, I don't think he wouldn't be on the New England Patriots
if he just loved everything about Philadelphia.
I mean, again, I don't think we need to rehash all that.
But yeah.
Yeah, I mean, listen, we shouldn't make too much of it.
I think we can close the book on it.
to some degree, but just because both sides are ready to move on and say that they're in a good place
doesn't mean that there isn't like some hate going on here.
Sure.
Right?
I completely agree with that.
Yeah.
I think that's a well put.
I agree.
Okay.
Anything else?
Any other AJ clips that you want to play?
I think, again, he kind of like the interesting thing about his press conference today
was that the most interesting things that he said were basically one or three.
two-word answers.
Yeah.
You know, did you talk to Jalen?
No.
Yeah.
You know, there was a very good question about, like, the way that things ended in Philadelphia,
and if he, you know, had any feelings about that, that he wanted to put out or, you know,
address.
Right.
And he basically just said, like, that's behind me.
So, you know, the good questions got short answers, and I think that was tough.
What about, like, you know, you have talked to AJ for a long time?
Yeah.
You have seen his many moods.
How was his comportment?
You know, I think it's funny you ask because I was thinking about.
today as we were waiting for him to come to the podium like how many times I've done that in the last 12 months
I think he seems like he's in a good a good place you know he got asked like is your mental state
better now than it was a year ago and there was like it was in a very like thoughtful respectful way it was not
it was worded worse than how how's your mentals yeah well that's a fair thing to ask somebody
but yeah he basically said I wouldn't say that I'm in a better mental space now but I was
you know I I felt fine the whole time it's kind of the message he gave okay I think he does
seem like he's in a better space
space now, I would say.
And frankly, so does Jalen Hertz.
I completely agree.
I completely agree.
All right, let's close the book
on the A's Harder Home Services, temperature check.
Quick break to hear from some sponsors
on the other side.
Let's talk.
Let's talk about the other side of the ball.
Let's talk Jalen Hertz.
Let's talk about what the Eagles offense did today.
We'll give us some play-by-play notes.
Also, some routes to take a look at
because TAYWix and Darius Cooper
killed a couple guys.

Back in the PHAY Eagles podcast, Bowen EJ on the road here at Gillette, up high where we're getting the wind.
You can see it on the step and repeat.
It's great.
This is great.
Yeah, this is like a football weather.
This is northeast football vibes right here.
I'm having to, I love being outside for the show.
We should do this more often.
All right.
Let's talk about the Eagles offense against the Patriots defense.
And my favorite play today was a play in team sessions where a blitzer from the Patriots comes.
clean through.
And truly before he gets there, Jalen quick, flicks the wrist, hot read to his right,
where Will Shipley, who by the way had a very good day today,
Will Shipley is one-on-one on a wheel route against a defensive end.
Nobody on that side of the field.
It's a huge play.
It's a great play.
It's a great hot read.
And earlier in Jalen's press conference, he had talked about how they approach these practices,
that they don't game plan for him
and they just sort of see
what happens. And so I asked him about that
play whether that was
part of the design
of the play is inviting that pressure
or if that was just kind of a happy accident
and he gave a very interesting answer.
Let's hear what he said.
Not a happy accident. It's definitely
a part of the play.
You know, when you
coach it up, you don't
coach it up in the unideal looks
and I think we got a lot of unideal looks
today. So just us being able to respond to when we're hot and hit that as the end is peeling
off. It's a really big play, one that we'd be excited about in the room, but obviously still something
to learn from right there because we want to avoid having a free guy coming and pressure.
So get it off, but it's, you know, it's process to it, buy into the process of him.
So he then went back to that theme later in the press conference because he wanted to emphasize the sort of the process over results of it.
But it was interesting because I do think that that's a fun element of these practices for them is they're not game planning.
It allows them to find maybe some answers that they didn't know were in the plays.
And he also talked about this on a couple of sort of, you know, second or third reading.
plays where the question was, is that part of the offense or is that, you know, just
Jalen making a play? And he says, you know, ball is ball at the end of the day. And I kind of
like that. Yeah. But it was a good moment of, you know, Jalen is not just a function of this
system. Jalen is still going to be able to make some plays himself. Yeah, so two things jump
out to me. Great. First, great explanation, great question. Great T-up for the clip.
Yeah, that's hilarious. I got to give you, got to give you both your flowers on this.
by the way. We're getting extra out today.
Shout out to everybody, yeah, for helping us out here.
Two things stand out for me there. The first thing is, I think this is a very good,
like, illustration of what it means when we talk about the coordinator
turnover. Because if you have been in the same offense for three or four years,
odds are that play that they ran today, you have seen it like against, what does it look
like against quarters? What does it look like against coverage two men?
Like, for Jaylen, he is seeing these coverages against these plays for the first time
right now, and that probably does make training camp probably a little bit of a harder
exercise where you know in the season you're your script in the first 15 because you know the
Patriots like to run you know I don't know exactly what their tendencies are if you line up in this
formation you have a 90% chance of expecting what coverage you're going to see right yeah it's not like
you're going in and saying like all right we're doing this against a single high defense that likes
to send pressure you know all these different things it is really just like a huh like so if it's cover
four I should go here I should go there so I think that that's interesting the other part that I think is
really encouraging about this is that I think, you know, again, going back to the diehard Q&A I did,
we talked about whether, what's the benchmark for Jalen Hertz's rushing yards and what does
success look like for if the Eagles offense looks good, Jalen has to rush for this much.
I actually took it the other way and talked about his scramble EPA, you know, his ability to create
out of structure. And not to say that this is out of structure, it actually sounds like it was in
structure and it was him finding the answer through the progression. But I want to see more of that
from Jalen Hertz this year.
I feel like last year we really didn't see him
like kind of creating his own answers.
And it sounds like that is what he did today.
And like I think if he can get to that point in this offense,
if you tell me that Jalen Hertz can kind of give you something
on top of the scheme and on top of this run game,
I feel a lot better about the offense.
Yeah.
Now I will say this was not Jalen's best day.
Apparently during seven on sevens,
I was watching the O-line D-on-1-1s.
Apparently he threw a couple interceptions.
Okay.
During seven-on-sevents, which is especially not ideal.
and he referenced that in the press conference said that seven on sevens were not great for him
and I think that's part of why he was explaining that they got a lot of not ideal looks today
there are probably a lot of things that were unscouted but I think your point is really really important
that the difficulty of installing a scheme is not necessarily your comfort level in how the play is designed
it is what do you do when you don't get what you expect yes and you know like the 300 400 level
thinking of, oh, this is not what we're designed, but there is an answer in here somewhere.
Yes.
And getting those reps is really important.
Yeah, because you hear all these veteran quarterbacks, you know, shout out to Robert Mays over the athletic football show.
He talked to Matthew Stafford about a certain plays over the last couple years of his career.
You hear these guys talk about, like, how they got to like the backside dig.
That's always like the esoteric football guy thing.
And they talk about how often those plays are the times where it's like we got a coverage like we would have never expected.
And I think that is what gets you fired up as a quarterback,
and it's hard to do that if you haven't had the reps and the time on task.
So, yeah, it sounds like they are like putting that together this summer.
And again, if Jalen is mastering the scheme enough where he can get to those answers,
again, I think that's really encouraging.
The other really good throw he made today was a long touchdown throw to Elijah Moore
on under center play action.
It was a funny play where it looks like there's a guy about to get him on the front side.
He's like just going past Lane.
And then as he's coming around the edge,
Lane gives him a shove.
And it's like Carlton getting thrown out of the Fresh Prince of the Bel Air House.
Not Carlton.
DJ Jesse Jeff.
Yeah.
He just goes flying.
And as he goes flying past Jalen,
Jalen then uncorks this bomb to Elijah Moore
who makes a really nice play in relatively tight coverage.
Elijah Moore then celebrates by throwing the ball onto the other practice field.
Milada's all fired up.
It's a really nice play, the most explosive play of the day for the offense.
Otherwise, Jalen was mostly just fine.
There was one quarterback read, which did not turn out well on the point of him running a lot,
but it was also not a huge passing day for them.
If we want to stay on this side of the ball, I thought that this was Tanner McKee's best day of the summer
until the very end of practice when they had their chance at a two-minute drill,
and they looked awful, and then he threw an interception to end practice.
Now it's kind of like a last, you know, fourth down.
You got to throw the ball up anyway.
but it was a nice play.
But Tanner McKee hit
he hit in Breton Covey a few times.
He hit Darius Cooper a few times.
He hit Cuez Watkins a few times
on throws that I haven't really seen him make much this summer.
He looked pretty comfortable today until the end,
but I thought that that was a little bit of movement.
He and Dalton, though, still were rotating every other drill.
Okay.
I didn't get to see the second team offense in the scrimmage period,
but do you want to talk about the first team offense in the scrimmage period?
Sure.
The situation?
I have every play mapped out here.
This was before I had to go sit on the AJ Brown.
Yeah, let me get to it.
Podium here.
All right.
So first play, slant thrown behind Dallas Goddard.
Oh, yeah.
And a PBU by Kevin Byard, old friend.
So that was not a very good throw by Jalen.
Correct.
Yes, I agree.
He's had a handful of throws this summer where it has just been behind a receiver going
across the field.
You know, something that he's going to have to clean up.
Because a couple of his interceptions have been that situation where it's a little bit
inside where the defensive back.
undercut the route.
So the situation here is there's like 50 cents seconds left.
Let's call it your own 25.
You're trying to get into field goal range, whatever it is.
Second down.
Now, we talked about Sequin Barkley.
Arguably the best athlete in the NFL, right?
And the Eagles dial it up.
They cook it up to get Sequin one-on-one with a linebacker in the middle of the field in space.
You got Seekwon running a slant against a linebacker.
That is an easy win every day.
The real sick is nowhere this is going already.
Against.
61 of the
no 63 of the 64
starting linebackers in the NFL
that's an easy first down to
Saquan Barkley you got him cooked up it's a great
matchup against Christian Ellis
that's a diving PBU
not in my house my friend
I could feel you radiating after
that play Christian Ellis
PBAU against Saquan Barkley
oh yeah I wish we had a camera
if only there was a camera on Howie after that play
I paid the wrong guy
That's just good on good right there.
Iron sharpens iron.
Good on great, is what I would say.
Third, so now you're in a third and ten situation.
Christian Barmore comes free.
I don't know.
I couldn't tell if he beats Steen or Juergens.
He was coming from that side.
I couldn't tell, but yeah, it didn't look like they gave him the sack.
They didn't give him the sack.
Jalen sort of sidesteps him and makes a nice tight window throw to Hollywood Brown.
Yeah, a couple good practices for Hollywood Brown in a row.
I think so too. Yeah.
I think so too.
So that was a good throw.
then there's another pre-snap penalty
Jalen hits Darius Cooper on an out route
against Carlton Davis
who's a true starting caliber corner
and this was the kind of route that he dropped the other day
he got his head around
made the catcher was a nice play
I feel like we have seen Darius Cooper kind of take
like he was obviously he was up here
he had the bad preseason game
but you're seeing it make progress on that stuff
you know you're seeing it like that exact route
that's the first thing I thought of is like
that's the one he dropped in the game
And the fact that he made the play today, I think is encouraging.
Well, let's, you know what?
Well, let's finish this.
And then we're going to show you two reps from Darius Cooper.
Like that.
And his teammate, Don Tavian Wicks, who then became very involved here.
This was what, now the Eagles, the Patriots are playing kind of a soft shell defense,
protecting the corners.
And for, like, three plays in a row,
Jalen Hurts hits Tate Wicks in the middle of the field for gains,
but not necessarily exactly what they're going for.
Yeah.
The Patriots media court was kind of bemoaning the amount of checkdowns
and, like, underneath routes at this point.
especially because they had to get, you know, a 25-yard game to get in the field goal.
And then whatever it is, the game or the half, whatever the situation is, it ends
because they do a checkdown to Wix and it's over.
Yeah, I do think, like, mild concern is what the Eagles offense is going to look like
schematically when they don't have the window dressing of the early down stuff,
you know, the play action, the stretch run game.
That is just kind of an element that you see a lot with the Shanahan-McVeigh scheme.
And then you hope the quarterback elevates it from there because, you know,
those third and eight, you know, where it's just got to be you winning on a route concept and having
good timing and good feet, good footwork. I think we saw maybe a little bit of the learning curve
there for the offense today in terms of like when they needed a 15-yard gain, it wasn't easy
for him to find it. I agree with that. All right, I'm going to get, we're going to give you
two little clips from wide receiver DB one-on-ones. Then we'll take a break and then we'll talk
about the other side of the ball. Later in the show, I'll give you what happened in O-Line D-Lon-1s
for the sickos. But first, first, let's do Taywicks in the slot.
and I mean
you know listen it's a
it's it's wider receiver DB one-on-ones these are tough
covers for defensive backs
still but this guy you know
it's like his he goes one way
and all of a sudden his clothes fell off sent to the shadow
realm as the kids say absolutely let's take a quick
look at that one so I mean
just a just a nasty like
a true
what's his name hot sauce
kind of rep yeah cross them up
and then another one that's almost as impressive
comes from Darius Cooper
in the same drill. Let's check that one out.
So, nice, nice job from the, from the Eagles.
I can give you, I will later in the show give you the full rundown of what happened in
wide receiver DB one-on-ones because there were a few long completions as well,
including a Dearest Cooper touchdown.
But let's take a quick break. We'll come back. We'll talk to the other side of the ball.
Stay with us, lots to come.
Football is back.
And while we are here at the practice fields and Kepenegas-Chicken, the Goosh is making a splash.

Now, let's get to Wawa Wednesday, presented by our friends at Wawa.
Let's talk about the other side of the ball.
You tell me what you saw today, EJ Smith.
All right.
I want to go through some of the noteworthy cornerback, wide receiver one-on-ones
from the Eagle Secondary.
I think we run it back with the AJ clip one more time.
I think we watch this one.
I'm going to watch it along with you guys,
and I'm going to try and narrate some of it here.
So again, we had Quignan, AJ, first rep of practice.
And I think that this is the most burst I've seen from A.
in some time. You know, the, the ability to kind of separate against Quinyon in the, I'd say,
like, the 10 to 20 yard range. And then you see Quinyon does get a little jersey, but I also think,
like, Quinyon's recovery speed always jumps out to me whenever you see it, especially when you see
it up close like that. The next. Yeah, I mean, he's never, he's never really beat because he has
that recovery speed. We forget how fast he is, I feel like, you know, I was talking to someone about
who's the fastest guy on the Eagles roster. And, you know, we were talking like Greek Wulin, is it,
you know, Hollywood Brown, which I don't think it's Hollywood Brown.
And then it's like...
Elijah's faster than him.
Yeah, well, we were talking about like the down-the-depth chart receivers,
and it's like, it's probably Quignan.
I mean, the guy ran like 4-3-3.
I might run 4-2.
I think it was 4-33.
Anyway, Parique Wullen, I know I mentioned earlier.
He had a rough practice.
He did have a good rep against Romeo Dobbs.
This is the second clip, Lindsay.
Just did a good job of staying in phase against him,
even on the stutter and, you know, was there on the go route in the end zone
and kind of gave him a little, you know,
Arms crossed, little tough guy act in the end zone there.
And then there was a Cooper to Gene rep against DeMario Davis.
I saw this one making the round.
This is the cautionary tale of like, you know, social media, wide receiver corner matchups
because this is like a triple move against the slot corner.
I mean, he fakes inside, he fakes outside and finally breaks out, one final time.
So it really is like in out or out and then back out.
And I actually, I don't know who did it.
So it looks like Cooper Gene gets like roasted.
You know, he's out of the frame by the time the ball is thrown.
I saw someone, I wish I remember who did it.
They like put Jalen Carter sack against the bills.
Like they mashed up the two.
That's funny.
So you could see like a real time, like what a defensive tackle like Jalen Carter can do
in terms of like his, you know, the speed to which he can pressure the quarterback.
And it enlightens you that like that's never going to happen in a game.
Not to mention like Cooper's always going to have help somewhere in a situation like that.
Also, I think we've talked about Cooper has.
said that those specific types
of slot receivers, quick, shifty guys
give him more trouble than, you know,
bigger power slots.
I wouldn't even...
You wouldn't even go out? Because I heard,
correct my if I'm wrong, Douglas also had a few
catches on Dijian today. Yes, DeMario
Douglas did have a nice day working against
DeGene, but this rep in particular.
Yeah, I think it's just kind of like
it's not a real route, you know?
And then the last one I had here was
Quinyon against Romeo Dobbs. I thought
Romeo Dobbs had a good day. Obviously, I, you know,
I was a Romeo Dobbs fan and free agency there.
But yeah, he got him on a slant route.
I actually like, this is pretty good from Romeo Downs to beat Quinyan there.
So yeah, those were the noteworthy ones.
I thought Wollin's reps were better in one-on-ones.
I don't have clips from the Keeley Ringo reps.
I can tell you that there were at least two flags thrown on like the three or four reps he got.
He had a really bad day.
But it's just like, what else are you expecting at this point?
Well, that's interesting because you were with the Patriots before practice.
and I spoke to Vic Fangio.
And Vic had a lot of interesting things to say today.
One of them was on Keeley, and he said, you know,
I know that essentially Keeley's been like a punching bag
for a lot of you guys, a Penaata,
but I think that he's about to be on the come.
Like he senses that Keeley is about to make a bit of an ascension.
I don't know if that's playing into the thing we talked about
in the postgame show where maybe just a little bit of confidence
would be good for Kili.
And, you know, he was flagged in the red zone
or the move the ball drill at the very end, the two-minute drill.
I thought that was a tough flag.
I thought he had good coverage on that play.
Yeah.
So it was actually interesting because Vic, you know, he's also burying guys.
Yeah.
Which I will talk about in a minute.
And he was more like gassing up, Keely thinking that there's actually maybe some ascension coming here.
But if you say today was not good, that's different.
He said these practices in particular will be important for him.
I hear you.
I feel like I remember Vic doing this with Keely last summer.
I feel like he did.
I believe that.
I feel like he had a stretch.
where he was not killing him,
even though he was struggling.
Maybe, you know what,
I think it was after the Bengals game.
I feel like,
because, you know,
that Bengals game was really ugly for Keely.
And I think a lot of people said,
there's no way he can play.
I think it was,
yeah,
I think Vic came out and said,
like, he's fine,
you know,
was situational,
like, you know,
we had him in zero coverage
against Jamar Chase.
But I do think that he kind of like was,
I think he's careful about Keely,
because I think it is,
I mean,
it makes sense from a coach's perspective.
If he gets some confidence,
like he's got all the traits,
all the tools in the world
to become a good corner.
He just, you know, he hasn't.
He is the most panicked I've seen a corner
when the ball is in the air.
It's, you know, it's sad.
Okay, that's too bad.
What else?
Yeah, it's disappointing, I guess.
It's like, you know, the potential.
Yeah, you feel for him.
Yeah.
Other notes from defense.
So I mentioned, you know, quickly that,
like, this is a passing game,
the Patriots that kind of test the confines
of practice because they are so often
stretching the ball down the field,
taking a lot of time in the pocket.
I thought the Eagles front seven
was, like, as good as you would expect.
I thought they had a good day.
The Patriots running game.
I mean, I had Zach Bonn, Jalix Hunt, Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis,
probably a couple other guys as well, down for like run stuffs,
not just run stops, but like, you know, this run got either negative yards or just one yard
because those guys were really good with their gap integrity and just get flowing downhill.
So yeah, that stood out to me.
Not a lot of productive runs from the Patriots there.
And again, I thought Jalick's hunt.
So they did one-on-ones.
like on the far field.
Like I could not make out.
You know, everything moves so fast anyway.
Trying to see 100 yards away through, you know, a bunch of guys is always difficult.
But I did see Jaylux Hunt win quickly against Will Campbell at the beginning of the period before I just threw in the towel because I couldn't make out any of the other spots there.
But I thought Jaylux Hunt had a good day.
You know, there was like a little buzz about him after practice from the Patriots people.
So, you know, matchup against Will Campbell.
That's the type of matchup you, I mean, it's a type of matchup he should.
be if he is who we expect him to be.
You know, if he's going to take the leap,
that type of matchup, you do expect him to be able to take the very.
Well, that is also in the context of Vic being asked
whether he is concerned that Jonathan Grinard may miss the start of the season.
And Vic said, yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, we're getting to the point now or if you're not back out there.
I will tell you, when I went back out to film the recap short on the practice field,
saw Johnny Grinard shirt off post workout.
You know, we haven't really seen him do workouts.
Yeah, he doesn't do much more out.
conferences were going. He was starting his workout. It was clear his workout had ended.
And he's having a one-on-one with Drew Rosenhaus and I guess it was a one-on-two and one person, you know, an Eagles trainer person.
And, you know, just, you're just, you know, I'm doing, I'm working, but I'm not going to not listen if they're talking.
I'm just, I mean, I'm not eavesdrop. I'm a reporter. And Rose, and essentially what I could, what I could gather is that Rosenhaus is talking about like, you know, you're not fighting for a roster spot.
need to like push yourself back like we get you know you gotta get healthy yeah that's interesting
context the way that the eagles should be feeling about it so so does that they don't need to rush
him back but i don't think vic loves that oh vic won't love that i'm wondering how that impacts
so you saying that makes me this not i want to i don't want to i don't want to make this a bigger deal
this was you know he was talking with another eagles person there this was not like uh yeah it's like
they're having some surreptitious um game plan yeah i'm just you know people i've had a people a couple
people ask, like, do you think he's going to start the year on pub?
Yeah, I'm wondering, I wonder about that.
Yeah.
I don't know.
The answer is I'm not sure.
The fact that he's not out here, not doing rehab.
My guess would be no, because if even if he, even if you think he's going to be ready,
maybe for the fourth game, that's worth it.
He's not good of a player.
Yeah, I agree.
Right?
Yeah.
And I just, my, my, my sense of that moment was that I think Grenard himself is probably just a little
bit frustrated with not being able to be on the field.
I would imagine so.
I mean, especially that's the type of injury you don't want to rush back from.
So we'll see.
We'll see what happens.
I probably, I think he'll be ready for week one.
I think Vic might not play him as much as you would expect because he doesn't have the time on task and the defense.
Yeah.
It sounds crazy.
I know people will be like, there's no way that's going to happen.
There's evidence to suggest.
Like, Vic wants these guys to have time in the scheme, especially in a new defense for him.
I think Vic's going to want him to get some time on the practice field before putting him out like in a full workload.
Yeah, I think he would be part of the rotation.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Especially because Jayluxes look good.
A few other Vic notes for you.
He was asked about Ty Robinson.
Yeah, I saw this.
Circulating.
In the preseason game, had that sack.
And he said, yeah, signs of life.
He's been on life support since he got here.
It was good to see some signs of life.
Hopefully we see more.
Woof.
I mean, he doesn't sugarcoat things.
Yeah, he's not wrong, but I also think it's fun.
because you know by dint of him saying that he's probably said that like five or six times already
oh he's probably said to tie robinson he probably said it's tie robinson's family i think that's right
yeah he said that inside linebacker is probably their deepest position uh i had asked about you know
like that really done like the like smile and at lawson and in light of the fact that he had already talked
to chan scambler said yeah i think that's our deepest position he said it is a competition at safety
between Epps and Michael Carter.
Epps has played that position a lot in the NFL.
That's part of why they didn't have to play him in the preseason game.
But Michael Carter hasn't.
He wanted to see it.
He explained why Jihad Campbell played in that game.
And he said, because, well, you know, after Nukobi got that job, he didn't play a lot last year.
But then I asked, well, then why didn't McCuba play?
Yeah.
And he was a little bit like he was caught on it, but he said, well, you know, that was more injury related.
But that doesn't really change anything.
Like, it's still the same premise.
You'd argue Maccuba has missed more time
Because he hasn't been in practice
And Campbell has
He said
I know that you don't want to talk about these guys
But what did you think of who were
And we were saying he calls those
There's foreign exchange students
Was that your question?
No, that was X
I was about to say
He probably would have gotten mad if it was you
He wouldn't remember that I was the one who asked in the first place
I think Vic notices those things
And I think there was one other interesting thing
He said
I'm trying to remember
but I can't remember right now
Okay
You want to go through
Do we have to take a break
And then we can go through
Yeah let's close Wawa Wednesday
Yeah

Back on the PHA Y Eagles podcast, Bo and E.J. Way atop.
Gillette Stadium.
Checking out the practice fields where the Eagles and Patriots had the first of two joint practices today.
What did you want to tell us about the end of practice, two-minute drill for the Patriots offense against the starting Eagles defense?
So is that Robert Kraft's helicopter?
That's Lindsay's friend, Bobby Kraft.
I got something to say about this, actually.
So since you can hear Robert Kraft's presence on the show, I am going to talk about this right now.
I got a bone to pick with that guy.
If I see him in the media house, him and I have to talk because...
So me and Robert Kraft are going to have to talk about the fact that he's got this helicopter coming in and out all hours of the day
and the cost of the fuel that it would take to go one place for him, just one place.
You could install some stairs down the hill right behind us.
You know, at practice, there's this big, like, drop toward the practice field, which is fine.
It's probably good for the grass.
Everything's below grade.
But they have these, like, steep declines that the fans have to walk down to get to their seats
or get where they're going.
And they have a lady there standing on an incline.
She's, like, on a 45-degree angle, and she's, like, has to tell everybody, don't walk this way.
It's really steep, and you'll slip if you walk this way.
How about some stairs, Robert Kraft?
You got enough money to do this helicopter stunt every day, all day?
Or install some stairs?
It's not that hard.
Yeah, my beef with him would have been a little bit more Orchidivasia focused.
Well, yes, I'm not saying that's the only thing that we should be.
Now, this is a bridge too far, Bob.
Not saying that, but I had to stand next.
Oh, I didn't have to.
I stood next to this nice lady trying to protect.
all of the fans.
And I'm like, instead of having this lady stand here,
just orders to build some stairs.
I will tell you one thing.
All of the people who work here?
Yeah.
Very pleasant.
99% of them, yeah.
Oh.
That's all I'm going to say about that.
Oh.
Every person I've dealt with almost to a T.
Everyone except one person has been very kind and very nice.
Okay.
Yeah.
You don't want to tell that story?
No.
I don't want to tell the story.
To name them by name.
Let's just say that, you know, there's a locked door situation, like you got to buzz people in,
and this lady was being a little bit, like, dismissive of the fact that I needed to get it.
Oh, was it down to get into the practice field?
No, it was to get into here.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, she was not being nice to me.
I'm sorry.
I did enjoy the security lady who told us that there was an Usher concert at Gillette Stadium
and that he's not welcome back.
She's like, there were 170 half-making women on the stage surrounding him.
It was terrible.
We're talking.
Sounds awful for usher.
Poor Usher.
All right.
Oh, man.
All right.
You want me to give me the play-by-play here?
A two-minute drill.
Yeah, I'll tell you what I have there as well, but go ahead.
Okay, so the first play I had was Romeo Dobbs got by a requal.
I think it was on a slant route, but he dropped the pass.
Yeah.
Which is something that you, I think Romeo Dobbs is known for drops, I believe.
DeMario Douglas had a catch against Cooper de Gene.
Like we mentioned, DeMario Douglas gave Cooper de Gene some trouble today, beat him on a crossing route.
And then the next play, this is one of the better plays from practice in my opinion.
Really nice play.
Yeah, Zach Bonn matched up against Ramandre Stevenson on a wheel route.
Just did a great job sticking with Stevenson on it and just, you know,
turned his head around, located the ball, got the pass breakup.
Just another reminder.
Zach Bonn is an all-pro linebacker, one of the best of its position.
Marcus Epps almost made a beautiful diving interception off that play too.
Oh, really?
Yeah, yeah.
I didn't see that.
It goes off.
I didn't get a angle on that.
Yeah, Bonn deflects it and Epps almost makes a beautiful play.
Bond talked about that after practice
in the context also of
AJ Appinesse getting asked to cover that
route in the preseason game
which Vic also said he was super glad
that that happened in a preseason game because
it's something that they can learn from.
Eppiness is not usually asked to do that. But Bonn
said that was the thing that took me time.
He called out in the Saints game
from 2024 Alvin Kamara beats him
on a wheel route. You know, it made
him look silly and he's
been getting better at those ever since. Yeah, we saw
today. Mack Holland
again, we mentioned this earlier in the show,
had a dig route against Rick Willen,
and he just rounded him up.
I mean, it was uninspiring from somebody
who has been bullish on Rick Willan in the past.
I think it'll be fine.
I'm not saying, like, I'm not bearing the guy,
but it was not a good practice for him.
Drake May scrambles.
Ty Robinson, who Vick Fansio mentioned.
I thought that that should have been a sack.
They didn't give it to him, but he was in the backfield.
Yeah.
I think that might have been one where it's like,
well, listen, like, in a game,
Drake May is probably able to get away from them.
Evade the rush there.
But, yeah, Ty Robinson in the backfield on that one.
Riquelan had an encroachment penalty, which is really tough, especially because I think it was a third and short scenario.
Next play, Hunter Henry had a catch on an out route against Michael Carter, and that got the Patriots into field goal range, and then they hit a 52-yard field goal.
Yeah, the kicker barely had enough leg to get it home from 52.
Andy Boragales, Boragales.
Yeah.
You want to quickly do the backups from that two-minute drill?
I didn't get the backup D because.
Oh, you didn't get the backup D?
Yeah, I had the, you know, I love my profession.
I love this industry, but I hate when, like, people start trying to box everybody out at the press conference podium, mid-wave through practice.
I was upset about that.
Eli Raritan got open on Keely Ringo, and then Mack Hollins drew a flag on Ringo, but I thought that was a bad call.
I thought that was good coverage by Keely Ringo.
Then Trot had a blitz to force a throwaway.
A slant was broken up again.
by Keely. Oh, Keely made a nice play on this.
This was a slant. He made a nice diving
PbU. And then
we have a super chat from the dink
man. The dink. The dink
who says
A.J. Brown this. J.
Hurts that. That joints
mid. Hand howie some good
Cush and ask him about the Gush
push. Well, the Gush had a nice
play up the middle.
It was a catch over the middle, but he was there to
make the tackle. He was
working today as the second team nickel.
Pulley was getting the safety reps.
Not a ton of reps for those guys, I think,
but but Gush looked okay.
Yeah, I thought Pully got a decent amount of run with the two today.
But then, I mean, truly, like against Tommy DeVito,
the ball moved more than you would have liked,
I think.
There was a deep middle completion to Mack Hollins before.
Then the new guy, whose name I forget, the corner,
number 49.
It's not made.
Made a really nice play to break things up.
And then that was the end of that.
Okay.
With the twos for the Eagles offense.
As I talked about,
McKee did not look great.
Quick completion to Covey,
and then back-to-back checkdowns to Will Shibley
before that interception,
which was a nice play by Kindle Vildor.
You know that nice play today?
I'm surprised it took me this long to relay this to you.
Andre Sam had an interception against the twos.
It was a pass off of Kashan Bout.
Did we say Kishon Bouti or Bouté?
Kishon Butt.
No, it's not that.
I know that's not right.
Two minutes away from being able to say what we really call.
It's booty, but I want to say Boutet.
Like, his name's spelled like it would be Boutet.
Anyway, Kishan, off Kishan's hands,
Andre Sam comes up with a tip drill interception.
Kianna, Ushan Ushah concert.
Now that is probably what that lady was talking about.
Andre Sam interception off of a tip drill.
So good day for Andre Sam.
It was not Kohl Wisniewski.
There was some confusion.
Surprisingly, there was some confusion about that.
21 versus 31.
Otherwise, they were nothing alike.
I mean, if, like, Cole Wisniews was wearing, like, sleeves, maybe, you could make that mistake.
You can tell Cole Wisnski, because he's got the longest neck you've ever seen.
I'm going to say their body types are different.
Andre's a little smaller.
I like an Andre Sam.
I like an Andre Sam, too.
Yeah.
Okay.
All right.
I want to take you through these one-on-one reps, both Eagles, wide receivers, and offensive line, defensive line.
But there's no sense in me starting it right now.
We've got like 30 seconds before it's time to flip over, right?
You got like a minute?
A minute?
Two minutes.
Here, you want me to vamp for you?
Sure.
All right, CDP, Super Chat from CDP.
$2 super chat there.
Shout out.
He says, have you had a chance to re-listen to Phoebe?
I can report.
I had a chance to re-listen to the Phoebe Bridger's album.
I've listened to it a couple times.
I've changed my mind.
It's not my favorite album.
It's not my favorite album that she's put out.
But some of the songs, once I understood, like, the direction and the vision for, like,
what she was going for, I could appreciate them more.
I think I was taken aback by the stylistic change.
This is a Stockholm or a Stockholm syndrome situation?
No, definitely not.
I love Phoebe Bridgers.
No, I learned about the meaning behind some of the songs,
and that changed it for me.
And also...
It shouldn't the song work, whether you know the meeting or not?
No, I think with Phoebe, her lyrics are very, very beautiful and very strong.
So, just needed some time with it.
And that's sometimes a good sign for an album.
So now you're going back on our espresso-inclined friend who said that she also thought that this was mid.
No, I wasn't her best album, but I'm no longer negative on the album.
You know, I'm...
There are a couple songs that I think we'll...
stick with you're going to go are you going to go even further like in a week you're going to be like
this is the best album i've ever heard no definitely not i would not do that okay can we flip over
can we flip over let's get uh overtime phoebe time from the road what we're creative
you do it let's do this in helicopter time bobby time that sounds gross all right let's do
O-Line D-Line. It's one of the songs in the Phoebe Bridger's album,
is Bobby.
I think it's about him?
I hope not.
An interesting origin story for her.
All right.
Let's take it through O-Line D-Line first.
Lane Johnson against Elijah Ponder.
Lane Johnson handles him with ease.
Tyler Steen, very good rep against Christian Barmore.
Strong sit.
I talked to Lane after practice.
He agrees that he's had a very good summary.
thinks this is going to be his best year yet.
And he also made a point of saying,
going up against Jalen Carter every day
will make you better.
Yeah.
And so, yeah, Christian Barmore is really good.
He's not quite Jalen Carter.
Juergens had a good rep.
Very good rep against Corey Durdon.
And then Milton Williams,
like, bold Landon Dickerson,
you know,
through the door.
It was a really, really good rep for Milton Williams.
Milana did a very good job then
against Jarmon Jones.
So it was four out of five wins for the Eagle starters,
and then you get a lot of reps from the twos and threes.
I don't know if you want me to go through every single one of them,
but for the most part, the backup offensive lineman did not look good.
Now, Fred Johnson was not participating in this.
So Miles Hinton was getting all the work at left tackle.
Miles Hinton struggled.
Is Fred hurt?
He wasn't on the injury report, and he was in full paths,
so I don't know if something happened during warm-ups.
We should tell you, which we haven't done yet,
on the injury report, Devante Smith, limited participation.
went through individual drills, and he was also, I was noticing during practice today, like he would go in the huddle.
Yeah, I noticed that too.
Yeah, no helmet, just go in the huddle, listen, and then leave.
And he said, after practice, that's because he just constantly, you know, he wants to hear what Jalen's saying and, you know, think of, think of through.
Mackay Lemon, they listed as a limited participant.
He didn't do anything.
I mean, he did some sprints after practice, I saw.
Yeah, he, that one was a little weird.
I think he maybe did a little bit more than he's been doing,
but those were different levels of limited participation.
Mackay Lemon is not yet ready to practice.
Yes, I would agree with that.
I think he's getting closer, but not right now.
Markelle Bell had a good rep against Jesse Lucetta,
got it sort of backed up, got Lucetta to lunge,
and then Markele pushed him down to the ground.
92 Joshua Farmer versus Drew Kendall.
This was kind of a stalemate.
Pushed him deep, but then Kendall settled in.
Willie Lampkin had lost this first rep against Isaiah Eton, where Willie won initially.
But then Eton's second level or second movement kind of got Willie out of the way.
But then Willie bounced back two wins later in the drill.
93.
Leonard Taylor the third, a quick win against Jake Majors.
43.
Braden Swinson, a quick inside move against Miles Hinton.
He faked the edge and then came inside really quickly.
73.
Oh, no, that is Cam Williams.
Cam Williams had a rough one too.
False starts.
And then 99 Amari Gaynor, who's small,
like really bulled him deep into the pocket.
Like, you don't want the small guy to bowl Cam Williams into the pocket.
It wasn't great.
Michael Jordan went for a quick set and completely missed.
Eric Gregory beat him to the Connor Barwin.
93.
Leonard Taylor beats Jake Majors again, this time at center.
98.
Jeremiah Farms Jr.
gets Michael Morris into the pocket.
Morris again, did well after this.
It was like Willie.
He lost his first rep,
and then he bounced back a little bit.
Try me to keep going here.
Yeah, keep doing it.
I mean, I'm impressed by your note.
78, I don't know, is not on the Patriots roster.
Oh, no, so that's the Eagles, 78.
78 is Hinton, and he rides Quintavius Hutchins wide outside the pocket.
Then Cameron Williams holds Gabe Accus.
Oh, your boy.
Man.
Acus had another rep later on.
Did he get the brother over that time?
No, I mean, this was, like, when I say holds, I mean, it was like a holding.
He was like he was really holding him.
It was a good rep from-
I got eyes on Gabe Accus today.
I still like that guy.
Isaiah Eton then, no, this was 62.
Yeah, okay.
Eton was strong against Drew Kendall.
That was a good rep from Eton again, player who I'd never even heard of until today.
61
Willie Lankin
yeah this is good
this is good against
Casey Rogers
Morris has another loss
I guess against Joshua Farmer
91
Elijah Ponder
gets around Miles Hinton
again Hinton had a tough time
43
Braden Swinson
knocks over Cam Williams
this was one where he like
knocked him on his butt
and then they got to go again
and he won again
Cam Williams is an interesting player
where he does he he's never looked good
in practice, but then, like, looks okay in the game, you know?
I agree with that.
I wonder how the Eagles will square that, you know, like, if they, if they feel like,
ah, like, he's put a, he's put good tape out there.
We don't want to jeopardize him, putting them on waivers.
But if you watch it in practice, you'd be like, it's time to, it's time to cut this
guy.
Not trying to be meet.
MJ the Goat had a good rep against Jeremiah Farms, Jr.
walked it back.
Eric Gregory, then pushed Jake Majors into the pocket.
Another not great rep for majors.
Michael Morris had a good rep.
And then finally, my last note here is Jesse Lucetta
killing Miles Swinton. Miles Hinton.
Miles Hinton. Swinton versus Hinton.
Swinton versus Hinton. That is fun.
Big, big couple days for Drew Kendall.
Went to high school, 20 minutes away from here.
Obviously played at Boston College.
Even his dad's from this area.
So I noticed that he has a big family contingent in town.
Seems like he's enjoying his homecoming.
As I was walking to the Eagles Field, I could see that he,
was kind of like exhaling from all of the family fanfare.
But yeah, you know, I imagine it's been a special couple days for him.
He and Mark Kell Bell both got a little bit of work with the ones as the Eagles were spelling
Lane and Lane and Dickerson, as you would expect.
Okay.
Okay, should I do the one-on-one wide receiver notes?
Can I give you?
Please break this up.
Let me tell you a funny story.
This has nothing about practice.
It's just funny.
So I'm walking back to the media workroom with Zach.
our friend Z.B.
And, yeah, Zach Bonn.
I wanted to ask Bonn about the handsome ranking thing,
how he really felt about being third in that list.
Yeah, that was tough.
They were kind of mean to him on that.
I mean, he's a handsome guy.
Yeah, I mean, bald men can be handsome.
You know, I'm on my way.
I'll be there soon.
So anyway, I'm walking back to the workroom with Zach,
and there is a player working on the jugs machine,
and we have to walk by.
And I am genuinely, this isn't even like,
Like, this isn't a joke.
Like, you know, this can be serious.
So I'm trying to make sure that I am mindful and safe
walking by this player on the jugging machine.
I think another piece of important context
to make sure that this is not mean-spirited
is that, like, this player was working on one-handed catches.
And I had seen them drop one, which is understandable.
They're like 10 yards away, one-handed catch.
Who do you...
So if I tell you that I wasn't comfortable walking by
while the jugging machine was moving and Zach was,
who do you think it was?
Eli Stowers.
It was Eli Starris.
And it's not again, it wasn't, it wasn't like, oh, I don't think Eli Stowers can catch.
It was just like you're doing one-handed catches on a machine where if you drop it and it hits me in the face, it could be really bad for me.
You know, my wife was pregnant.
I can't be out here having medical emergencies right now.
So, but Zach was like, oh.
You can't throw my wife is pregnant as the excuse.
What are you talking about?
I can't have a medical emergency right now.
Oh, no jokes around me.
My wife is pregnant.
Well, literally, yeah.
You can't.
But it was funny that Zach blind faith, oh, he's fine, we're good.
My wife is pregnant.
That's very funny.
I mean, Stowers had a good play today.
Yeah?
Probably the best play I've seen to make all camp.
Because he didn't see the touchdown catch.
It was a crosser.
Yeah, but that was like just a fail by the defense.
This was actually a play where he got open over the middle of the field.
McKee found him on a crosser.
It was a nice play.
He routed somebody up?
I wouldn't say that he rounded somebody up.
I would say that the design.
of the play did him some favors, but he was open.
He was using that physical presence over the middle of the field.
Sell me on it.
Yeah, his wife isn't pregnant.
So that means he can play football with reckless abandon.
All right.
Eagles wide receivers against Patriots' offensive backs.
The chat says that's what EJ said to the frog in his driveway.
Whoa, whoa, my wife is pregnant.
She can't come out here and show you away.
I got to be responsible.
You know, it's for the baby.
Got to keep myself right.
Yeah, of course.
All right.
Tay Wicks, we already showed that one rep.
He had another rep where he did a good job on a slant against Charles Woods.
25.
Marcus Jones completely covers Britain Covey.
Nice rep from Marcus Jones.
Dallas Gotter.
Routes up.
Kevin Byard.
Nice rep from Dan.
Dallas Goddard catch over the middle from Jalen Hertz.
Cameron Lattu gets open on Craig Woodson and drops the ball.
Hollywood Brown, a deep completion on Carlton Davis.
Nice job by Hollywood Brown.
Then a really nice route, a touchdown down the left sideline from Darius Cooper against Kobe Prentice.
Not to be, no, Kobe Minor.
The Patriots have, you know, there are numbers where they have an offensive and a defensive player, obviously.
when you got a 90 man roster.
So they're 19 on offense as a Kobe,
and they're 19 on defense as a Kobe.
They're doing that on purpose.
They're trying to get one of them to Kobe Mog the other one.
But Kobe Minor is two E's.
I'm so sad you didn't laugh at that.
Kobe?
Kobe Minor,
which also has some jokes to it that we will not explore.
Samore Toray with a beautiful touchdown
against Marcellus Dile Jr.
Nice down from Samore Tore.
Tori had another catch in team drills with the two is.
So he's a good player.
You know what?
I'm ready to declare this.
Samorei Tori is at least on the practice spot.
I'd like to see some more a Tori.
He is on the practice squad.
I don't know that.
I don't need to be ready to declare it, but he's a good player.
He's done well all camp.
He has done well.
Every other day.
He's in your notebook for something good.
Johnny Munt gets open over the middle of the field against Del Pettis,
one of my favorite names from last year's draft.
What do the best name for what animals tell other animals about humans?
Tell Pet us.
What does the puppy say to the computer from 1994?
Dell, Petas.
That means a comment.
Lindsay liked that one.
E.J. Jenkins gets open for a catch against Mike Brown, the Cavs owner.
No, that's the Bears, the Browns owner.
Is he a coach?
Bears, I don't know.
I'm exhausted.
86.
Cuez Watkins has a catch against Kindle Vildor.
Nicely done.
Bad Dalton Ball to 25.
That's all I have here in this one.
23 smothers, Eli Stowers.
This is John Saunders Jr., the safety, who shares a number 23,
just absolutely runs Stowers Rout for him.
Smothered it, no shatter.
34.
Peter Manuma
with a PBU against Stone Smart.
You are not getting that anywhere else.
Peter Manuma.
This is noteworthy stuff.
29 is Channing Canada,
and he covers up Britain Covey.
Nice job for him.
Congrats, Channing.
Wicks routes up 22.
That was the rep that you saw earlier.
That was Charles Woods.
So he beat Chuckie Woods twice.
Chekie.
31.
Kevin Beyer does a nice job covering Dallas Goddard.
So he got one back on Goddard.
Another incompletion on the way to Cameron Lattu.
Hollywood Brown gets open for a slant on Karan Prunty.
Darius Cooper routes up Kobe Minor, which you already saw.
That's the other one you saw earlier.
25.
Marcus Jones covers.
could be Munt
could be Elijah Moore. I think
it's Elijah Moore. 83
Is it just a number that you're
Yeah, yeah okay. Munt has a
slant catch against Craig
Woodson. 84. E.J. Jenkins goes
for a wheel route
against Del Pettus.
Ball's a little underthrown. Pettus makes it up
and gets the incompletion.
Carlton Davis with a really good
job reading exactly what
Kwez Watkins was going to run for the PBU.
39.
has a nice P.BU down the field.
That's, of course, Brandon Crossley against Danny Gray.
And then finally, the last rep, Samori Tori,
draws a flag for holding by Marcellus Dyle Jr.
Now that is emptying out the notebook.
We got 525 people watching.
Hit the like button, please.
The full emptying of the notebook.
Hit that like button with us.
It does us a lot of favorites.
You didn't know about Brandon Crossley.
didn't know about that.
If you didn't know about Brandon Crossley, hyped the video.
Do it for us.
It does, does this a lot of, does a lot of good.
Any other notes from the team drills that escaped me?
I've got another, I've got a TFL from Milton Williams.
As I said, there were times where it looked like he was the best player on the field.
I thought Hinton had a good block during team drills, which was a little bit of a
bounce back for him after the rough one-on-one session.
Did I mention that Romeo Dobbs had like a really nice leaping catch over clean?
Did I mention that my life is pregnant away?
Romeo Dobbs had a nice leaping catch over Quinyon
on the sideline.
Like I said, it was just like not a great day
from the Eagle Secondary. Uncharacteristic, I would say.
Wicks looked good today.
If I didn't underscore that before, in addition to his
one-on-one exploits, he had a couple nice plays and team drills.
He looked good today.
Why don't we close out with like...
Oh, I got one last thing for you.
Okay.
We got one very brief period of developmental
with the offense
Colpaden threw a pick
yeah I did see that
yeah also there was a skirmish on my field
lives far far away during special
team it was a true it looked like a true fight
oh that reminds me go ahead it wasn't like a fight
fight it wasn't a more with Joebo Fred Johnson
somebody said Jalen Carter threw a punch
I did not see Jalen Carter throw a punch I saw
Jaylen Clark and Mike Rable like jawing at one
and other oh that's fun yeah it was fun
I didn't see Jalen Carter throw a punch
that reminds me
the most interesting thing that
happened in terms of that kind of stuff on the Eagles field.
There was one point where the run at 13, running back to Quinn Jackson, the new guy
sort of lowered his shoulder and there was a bit of a like a little bit of a shove afterwards.
Nothing really, nothing bad.
But there was a play with the twos where after the play, it didn't go, it didn't go the Eagles way.
Cam Williams at right tackle, Michael Jordan at right guard.
They gave each other a little shove.
Really?
Yeah.
Oh my goodness.
A little miscommunication.
My fault.
Your fault.
What are you talking about?
kind of deal kind of like us a real
I would never I would never
sure oh Lindsay likes that
yeah a little
friendly fire
yeah a little bit a little I like that
trouble in paradise yeah like if I
love I mean a real a teammate fight
in the middle of a joint practice
that is good stuff between two guys
that are like fighting for roster spots I can
I can understand that goat
oh France says he trusts MJ the goat
I think MJ's number one
rank week oh yeah rank week
Check us out on social media.
Super chat.
From not Brendan Ekstrom.
Are we sure?
And all.
New Alabama Shakes song and is amazing.
I love the Alabama Shakes.
I'm going to check that out.
No, it's not that.
Not that type of music.
It's like good soulful blues music.
You would like it.
I call it more soul than blues.
What is this?
What is this again?
Oh, the, the high school.
Bobby's about to leave again.
What's that the high school football guy?
I think I got my swag up back
That's right
This is turning into a loopy show
You want to close out with like a stock up, stock down situation?
Sure
Okay
I'm going to go
It's tough stock up today
Because it was like such a
Just a shaky day from the secondary
I know my stock down is going to be requal
It was a tough day for him
Yeah
You know I think we saw what it will look like
if it's ugly during the season.
I think it'll be fine.
Well, no, I think that's fair to say, though.
I think it's like, you know, I think he is,
he's a player that is going to have some inconsistent moments.
I think today's practice was one of them.
I think he'll be fine.
I think it'll be an upgrade of the outside corner spot.
I think today we saw, like, what the lows might look like.
Stock up freaking Bobby.
Not Bobby.
Not Bobby today.
Who would my stock up be?
I'll give it to Jaylux Hunt.
I'm just going to keep giving it to Jaylux Hunt.
I thought he had presence today, getting in the backfield during team,
looked good in the one-on-one reps I saw.
I'll give it to Jaylux Hunt.
I thought you looked good.
Stock up Tay Wicks.
Stock down, Milesington.
Stock up, Zach Vaughn, too.
I'm stealing him as well.
Had a really nice play late in practice.
Okay.
Good stuff.
Thank you, Lindsay, for getting this set up here.
Thank you, Bobby Kraft, for nothing.
For actually undermining the show.
Thank you, Ethan and Conte and Jimmy and Ben, everybody back in Philly helping us out.
Thank you, everybody for watching.

He's right there now.
You might get him.
You might see Bobby in the show.
Robert Kraft joins the show.
Thanks for watching, everybody.

We will talk to you tomorrow on the PHAWI Eagles show.
Presented by Ashley.
What do you got?
They could see him.
They could see him.
We love you.
That reminds me, actually.
You didn't mention this.
That reminds me.
Lindsay and I, we had our long journey yesterday.
Yes.
Pretty seamless ride, no traffic, easy ride, talking the whole time, good, good stuff.
But when I would say in the first five minutes of the drive, Lindsay, I picked you up.
We're trying to, we're getting on 676 to then get over to 95.
We're circling around 30th Street Station.
And we were talking, I don't think you noticed this, Owema was going past.
Flip it at the bird.
Of course you did.
That's very on brand for you.
I gotta do it.
I mean, you don't have to do it, but you do.
You do, you personally, you do have to do it.
You have to do it.
The man's got to have a code.
You do have a code.
We all know the code.
All right, Mo, out of my city.
It's time for me to get a lobster roll.
That's what I got on the schedule.
Listen, you might have a chance to get a lobster roll at the Ospreys.
Oh, some big guess.
I think that's on the table.
All right.
Thanks for watching, everybody.
Make sure you comment and like all that good stuff.
to you tomorrow for all of us here we thank you and as always we love you
