Hello everybody and welcome to the PHL by Eagles postgame show
live from the Xfinity Lounge presented by Bet365 and Ashley after an embarrassing loss for the Eagles at home coming off a loss to the Dallas Cowboys in which they blew a 21 point lead.
this was the game when they were going to respond
and instead they responded by
just kind of not really showing up
and got pounded by the Chicago Bears
24 to 14 gave up 281 yards rushing
that's the second most they've given up
in a game this century
and the offense was even worse
horrible we're going to talk about it all
we're going to hear from E.J. Smith live at the link
after he talks to guys in the locker room
We're going to have Fran Duffy break it all down.
We're going to listen to you the fans
and let you get some stuff off your chest
because this is a game that deserves it
and deserves all the booze
that you have to give from the bottom of your throats.

That didn't look like us.

but you could see
some guys out there
still trying to compete though
sure
but some guys
it's kind of like

takeaway
especially in the first half
they looked like
they didn't want to be there
dude it was a lot of
mistackles
I'm curious to see
what's the
final mistackle.
Got to be double digits of mistackles.
You can't win football games
with that many mistackles.
It was just like
mistakes that you usually see
like week one or week
two in the preseason.
It just didn't look like us.
Jamie, your big takeaway presented by

My big takeaway is
Kevin Petulow probably
shouldn't be the offensive coordinator anymore.
There's no answer.
There's no, like, there's nothing.
And, you know, like, whether it's the comment section
or my text threads blowing up, people want a pound of flesh
because this is a putrid offense with a lot of money invested in it.
I'm sure Jeffrey Lurie and Howie Roseman are irate
with the amount of money they spent on this offense to get these results.
The offensive line fell apart this year.
You know, attrition of playing a lot of football the past couple years
coming into the season hurt.
But Sequin Barclay is a non-existent element in this offense.
I didn't think that was possible.
A.J. Brown is like, you know, he's putting up numbers,
but it still doesn't feel right.
You know what I mean?
Like, it's just a bad offense.
Very bad.
Terrible.
I mean, they went a whole four quarters over the past two weeks,
scoring three points.
Yeah.
Right?
Against two bad defenses in the Cowboys and Bears.
Jailen Hertz in this game,
for 34 for 230 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
It was way worse than those numbers.
And I don't really think that it's all Kevin Petulow's fault
or even mostly Kevin Petulow's fault.
But I do think that knowing Jeffrey Lurie
and having covered the team as long as I have,
they have 10 days now before a Monday night game
against the Chargers,
I would be pretty surprised if Jeffrey Lurie doesn't enact
some significant change this week.
I'm not saying that that's Kevin Petulow,
I don't know if it's a change in who's calling the plays,
if it's Nick has to do it or something else.
But after those two performances,
Jeffrey Lurie is going to do something.
Do you think they learned,
I mean, last time they did this,
Matt Patricia took over and it got worse.
The team effectively quit.
Do you think there's PTSD there from an in-season change?
Or do you think this is something that they know
has to wait until after the season?
No, because I don't think so because there's definitely so many sparks
there. We watched
in the first half, I think Sequan was
averaging at that point in time, what, 4.8,
5 yards of carry. We get away from that
and then we start getting
slower. And then I
AJ had what, 10
receptions for 132? 10 for 132 and 2 touchdown. And it's just like,
okay, our playmakers
is getting trying to make things shake
but it just, like he said, it doesn't feel right.
It doesn't feel. It doesn't seem right.
You know, but I'll tell you one thing, if I got one positive thing,
AJ did show he is 7-Eleven always open.
I mean, he was frying him DBs today.
Yeah, and the play he makes on the first touchdown in one-on-one coverage,
really awesome play.
He has looked also like Spryor the past two weeks, I feel like.
He has looked good the last two weeks,
and obviously it has not correlated with anything good
happening on offense for the rest of the offense.
But today, the Eagles had one.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 possessions.
One touchdown, one missed field goal at the very end, and a field goal.
That's it.
I can't even remember to tell you when the last time we had that many three-in-outs.
It's bad.
Oh, they are having three-outs at a historic rate.
They're the worst in the NFL.
That's pathetic.
And, Bo, you know this from your time down there.
Like, yeah, there's frustrations because the money invested in this offense.
but they're becoming a national laughing stock.
Offensively, Richard Sherman at halftime
was literally mocking Kevin Petulow in this offense.
Dan Orlovsky is tweeting,
what the hell are these play calls?
Nick Foles, the man somewhere in the studio,
was on his podcast this week,
like this route tree from this offense is pathetic.
They are getting dragged through the mud
on a public stage at this point,
and that carries a lot of weight with Mr. Lorry.
That's true.
And it's not, again, it's not just the scheme because Jalen missed a bunch of throws today.
Sure.
It's execution as well.
Again, we handled the penalties that, you know, bit them last week.
But it's ugly.
And the, you know, guys being paid a lot of money, it's not about I'm not getting the value of my money.
It's about, it's, that is a proxy for there are really talented players on this offense.
I mean, think about the guys who are on this offense.
You have a Super Bowl MVP in Jailen.
You have a pro bowler and AJ Brown.
You have a guy who is pro bowl level wide receiver in Devante Smith.
You've got a pro bowler at left tackle, a pro bowler at left guard, a pro bowler at center,
a pro bowl tight end in Dallas Goddard.
Like this offense on paper is loaded.
And by the results, they're one of the worst eight offenses in the NFL.
That is embarrassing.
And Jeffrey Lurie is going to be angry about it.
No doubt.
Is Nick Siriani capable of taking over play calling?
I think he might have to.
And I don't even think that that's necessarily a good thing.
I just think it's going to be kind of like you got us into this mex.
Let's see what you can do to get us out of it.

The schedule on paper looks cakey.
It looked cakey in 20203, too.
After the charges, you've got the Raiders, the commanders, the bills, the commanders.
Yeesh.
You know, does 10 and 7 get them to the playoffs?
Maybe not.

Their chance on ESPN's predictor on the 25th to make the playoffs was 97%.
To win the division was 95%.
I've already in my mind been like, well, they're out.
That's where I'm at, 97% two days ago to make the playoffs.
I wonder what it was going to be this week.
You won't be able to know until after Sunday, but much lower.
But by the way, I mean, listen, you're not allowed to boo this team.
That's how dare the fans boo a performance like that.
Oh, no, they was booing out there.

The team really showed up today.

pregame on the sidelines for the first half
what was, what's like the, you know
and the energy, the aura of the team
are they, do they
appear together? I mean, you know,
they definitely paired together.

He looked at totally locked in.
Jordan Day's looked at locked in.
B.G. looked at locked in. Some of the guys
looked at locked in. So I was like, oh, all right,
this is going to be a good one.
But, you know,
if you could have a couple plays back that one
pass that was kind of behind
Devante early on that's a touchdown that's a touchdown that's a touchdown that's a
touchdown and you know miss that throw it's just like
we didn't mention the fumble on the on the touch push right that was the game
right there so there was like a couple of mistakes we would love to have back if you
could even have those games back but maybe we would not be going too hard but this was
not a game where it was like oh man it wasn't like the cowboy's game was like oh
this one just everything went went against us every little bounce went the other way
one thing had gone the other way when but I didn't
deserved to win this game. The bears came in
and beat them up, blew them off the line
of scrimmage. The bears absolutely deserved to win
this game. But I felt like when that happened
it was just like one of these. You ever go
like somebody popped the air balloon.
Yeah. And after that was
a disaster. Yeah. The game
was lost on the touch push fumble.
That was it.
Like the Jalix-Hun
interception was a type of
we can
steal this like fantastic
play. Yeah, they've been playing
terrible for the entire game
and then you get the 91 yard touchdown drive
on like five plays
then you get the Jelix Hunt pick
you're like okay here we go
10 9 we're about to go in and take the lead
and then yeah the fumble by Jalen
and that was the one where it was really like
my Eagle fan was having a meltdown
I was like damn they must be
like being the Eagle fan with the last four years
they're not used to this type of thing of a game
it was like ah ah ah and it was
tripping in there I was like oh shit
and Les Bowen thought it was forward
progress should have been stopped on that point
Yeah, but they didn't blow the whistle.
That's just, that's not how the rule works,
and that's not how the touch push has worked.
That was the game.
I actually think the actual complaint you can have there is,
I mean, the guy just goes in and goes helmet to helmet as he rips out the ball.
Yeah.
And he, like, he head hunts Jalen while going to get the ball.
That could have been a flag.
They can't do that on review.
But, you know, that's the problem with the touch push.
The quarterback's just sitting up there.
He's, he's opening and hit.
Man.
What a bad, what a bad, what a bad game.
But this idea that, like, oh, well, the team won the Super Bowl last year,
you're not allowed to have high expectations and react and care about the team.
Just clap.
Come on.
Ridiculous.
Should have booed louder.
Going into half, we talked about it at a halftime boat, to let the clock run down 20 seconds,
Siriani has no confidence in his offense.
He's right.
He is, but like he just let the whole country see that.
Like he put that on display of like, yeah, I'm going to let this clock run down
because I know we're not moving the ball.
That's pathetic.

the sideline. He threw it under and inside. Be doc's pissed. Look what you've done, Eagles. You've
pissed off Brian Dawkins. That's hard.

And it really felt that way early, when it was such a sleepy start from the Eagles, and they're
getting blown off a ball and they go three and out.
It was like, it felt like nobody wanted to play.

Before we get to the actual breakdowns, I mean, just your general opinion on what you saw today.
Let's start with the offense, because I know we're going to get to some of the ugliness on
run defense, 281 yards rushing, like insane, a pair of 100-yard rushers.
But on offense, I mean, what was the plan?
What did you think?
yeah i got nothing i mean it's it's been more the same it's exactly what we have seen
throughout the course of the season where you have long stretches again where it's like oh they
had one first down in five drives you know the the the run game was they they could not move the
ball against what had been one of the worst run defenses in football uh we could talk about the
wind we don't talk about it whatever you want the past game was not good uh you had you know
some numbers late in the, late in the game with empty calorie like makeup plays,
recovery plays, but Jalen missed a handful of throws.
We're going to get into the most egregious one, and it's not for the reasons that you
guys even think.
But to me, like, it was, that was as ugly of a game as I can remember from this team.
With all the context included, that was, that was as ugly a performance as you could have
expected here today.
Fran, is Kevin Petullo gut check right now calling plays Monday night versus the chart?
Yeah, I think so, but they're going to have, they're going to have difficult decisions,
difficult conversations in the off season.
And I think it's going to be a lot of people having difficult conversations in the, in the
off season.
And I mean, look, I would say, like, jobs are probably on the line here down the stretch.
It's, this has been, this has been a really rough.
Because the thing about this, this is all since the by week.
Like, usually it's like, oh, the bi week.
We have that time to reset.
The last four games, since their by week,
a putrid, historically bad stretch from this offense in the last four games.
Friend.
The energy, the amount of energy, especially in that third quarter, was like, what is this going on right now?
Going into the halftime, heard a lot of booze out there.
I'm like, damn, they ain't, I ain't heard a boo in a minute coming to the Eagles home.
game that was insane and let me just tell you bro being there it just didn't look like they were
there too many missed tackles it just didn't it don't look like us what that felt like to me viny
and i'd be interested to get your take on this it to me it felt like a defense that knows that they've
been holding that team afloat for the last month and the dam just cracked that's how that's how it
felt to me. They came
short week
the holiday
hangover coming off
the short week or you let the Cowboys Beach
whatever the reason the
damn broke and the defense was not
they were like yeah we don't have it today
and if they can't carry you
then this offense they're not going to be able
to do it for you. What was that last
year frame? I think last
last year we talked about
what was like the worst game I've been part of
I said when we gave up two different
people ran over 100-some yards.
That's how that looked today.
Tampa Bay? No, no, no.
Washington.
Okay.
It was against Washington, but it was just like,
that's what it looked like today.
And I was just like,
it's time for me to get over to the studio.
Like, because that was, that was, like, give me PTSD.
Like, oh, my God, like, what the hell's going on?
So I just had to get a bottom of it.
And, Fran, your context is right,
because I hadn't thought about it as the by-week
as a delineation, but you're exactly right.
The first eight weeks of the season, before the buy,
they weren't great on offense,
but the fewest points they scored in a game was 17,
which they did twice.
Since the buy, they've scored 10 points,
16 points,
21 points, and 15 points.
That's it.
Four games.
The game where they scored 21,
the game where they scored 21,
one of those touchdowns was fueled by a penalty on special teams
that maybe shouldn't have happened.
you know, whatever, but even still, like, was a three and out, like that got saved by a special
team's penalty.
Yeah, this offense is in a downward spiral.

red zone their first real successful drive of the game on offense what did we what did we not see
this was this was a play where uh and i i get it though i will go get into why we say it let's go to the
first one so this is uh devante one um and right now right off the bat you got seven guys in the line
of scrimmage for chicago and this is so it's a it is a zero coverage look you got and we can
see all 11 defenders uh for chicago here you've got seven guys up in the line of scrimmage
you've got four in coverage the eagles aren't empty so
you've got all five eligibles out you got five guys you know blocking for jalen hurts this is a
this is one of those things where it's like all right if they send everybody and it's a cover zero
blitz i got to go to my man beater but if they send everybody someone's going to be wide open
and you know what the the defense doesn't know what the routes are but the quarterback knows
what the routes are yeah the quarterback knows i've got somebody work in the middle of the field
here and he knows like that right now that middle of the field is wide open now you
would expect that some of these guys are going to drop out and they're going to drop into
short zones. We've seen teams do that against the Eagles. Hey, we're going to put a bunch of guys
up in the line of scrimmage and then we're going to drop two or three players out into short
zones and it's up to you to try and read this out. Jalen is going to start on what is the
man-to-man side because you've got two receivers. It's not a true stack on the left
side, but essentially a stack formation over on the left side. You've got Jahan Dotson,
who's seeing the far left of the frame. He's going to release vertically up the field and
essentially provide interference for Devante Smith to work underneath. So let's
take a look at the at the next shot and you're going to see there here comes devante working right
off jehan dotson's hip he's going to ride in his wake and work towards the middle of the field
this should be nice and easy if this were like just straight cover zero uh like and everybody
does their job defensively this is exactly where the ball should go perfect great it's really
well schemed the quarterback's eyes in the right spot here's the problem you knew you had seven guys
in the line of scrimmage and i didn't see what the clock read when jalen first got to the line
So I'll have to go back and see exactly what that looked like.
But you saw that you had seven guys in the line of scrimmage.
You know, yeah, you've got this rub concept over on the left.
But on the right hand side, you're running a,
you're running Dallas Goddard on a double move down the scene,
down the seam, which is wide open against a split safety.
There's wide open lane right down the middle of the field.
And that's exactly where Dallas God is going to roll.
Let's go to the next shot.
Dallas Goddard is going to really, literally he's going to grow a little head nod.
And he's not even trying to sell this because he's like,
I've got no one to sell this to.
There's nobody in my vicinity.
There's no one in my radius here.
I don't even need to throw this fake route.
So let's go to the next shot.
He is wide open.
The safety comes down on AJ.
Dallas, Dallas moon walks into the end zone.
And so, yeah, Devante, if this ball's on target to Devante, yeah, he probably scores.
But he misses Dallas on a, like, and again, you get into like the, all right, well, it was man-to-man coverage.
it's a busted covers from Chicago.
Like you, Dallas shouldn't have been open.
But again, if there are seven guys in the line of scrimmage,
you have the split safety look.
If you have the time of the line of scrim,
you should understand, like, you know, I might have this.
And either way, then you had the bad miss physically to Devante.
So that's, the past game's bad.
Again, like right now, all we have is that, you know, this miss.
I can't say I'm excited to go through the film.
I'm not excited to go through this film.
But I'm interested to go through the film and see, like,
all right, like, what did the rest of the past game look like?
you know, Jalen Hurts is not playing well.
The scheme is not doing many favors.
To watch the Ben Johnson offense,
it's a different sport with different rules.
Like coaches playing by different rules.
That's literally the way it looks when I watch
these two offenses operate in the same field.
It's only one play, Fran, but is Jalen or Petulah
worse than this?
But that's, I mean, that's, yeah, that's not on Patuolo.
No, Patuola did a great job.
Yeah, right.
I know, that's what I'm saying.
It's only one play, but overall.
yeah i mean well that's it's starting to feel like jay everybody's allowed to be responsible

episode the film review from last week down dallas for like pointing out plays where jalen is
playoff anyone raise your hand and say oh yeah like janet hurts deserves no blame for how this
offense is look for the last month this offense does is not performing at a high let not even
a high level like at a mediocre level it's it's it's a bad pass game right now with
AJ Brown, Devante Smith, Dallas Goddard.
Forget the, you know, the, yeah, the injuries, the offensive line.
Like, the run game is not great right now either, but this past game is, is fruitless right now.

I haven't seen him in the offense in weeks, Fran.

I mean, it's a, it's a, it's a rough watch right now.

Dallas Goddard's non-existed in this offense.

And, but the problem is they can't get to the red zone because it's all like, oh, it's either like explosives or three and out. That's what this offense is right now. Even if you look at like, you know, I was watching halftime and you guys, oh, yeah, the 30 yard of Devante. That's on like, it's a, again, it's like a little simple like RPO off to the side. Like they don't, they don't have anything that is sustainable like real offense from a past game standpoint. Don't they have to go back to the RPO then? Well, yeah, but that, but again, like at some point that's going to cap you, right? Like at some point, like we.
It's not 2019.
It's not where you could say,
oh, we're going to build the whole boat out of it.
You know, otherwise, like Miami would be in better shape than they're in.
You know, that's the problem that Miami ran into.
So it's not good.
Right.
Okay.
Well, let's turn our mood around and talk about something lighthearted,
like the defense giving up 281 rushing yards.
What do you want to tell us about what you saw from some of the stuff of them
just getting blown off the ball?
Yeah, I was obviously, look,
it was a it was a rough start and the first couple drives you're like man like these guys are getting
bullied up front uh they're getting moved off the ball and the chicago's having their way this is
and it wasn't even just like oh like this is what we've seen from chicago this is the first time
since 1985 that chicago had a pair of a hundred yard rushers in a game you go back to like walter
peyton this is the first time that they've had this level of success on the ground and so uh to me
you look at this and say all right like why are they having their best day the defensive front did not
perform well. Zach Bonn did not perform. This didn't seem like a great Zach Bond game. You had
missed tackles at the third level. You know, Sidney Brown had a couple of misses. And we see a little
bit of honestly, a little bit of all of it on the very first play. Let's go to the first one here,
Swift one. This is a first quarter of this is late first quarter. And again, you're getting a
little bit of everything. This is when we talked about the, the Ben Johnson offense, the identity of
this offense, you know, coming on Thursday show, sorry, they love to be condensed. They are going to
play some smash mouth football. They're going to get into under center, and you're going to get
some unique motions. Some of the stuff that we saw from Dallas last week, they do the same thing.
And this is something that Dallas did against the Eagles a week ago. You bring the tight end in motion
from left to right. It looks like he's coming across the formation, but very late, just before the
snap, he pivots, and he's actually going to turn. He's going to block the opposite way.
It's going to be a WAM play against the defensive tackle, against Moore Ogembo. Let's go to the
next shot. And you can see, all right, the tight end, he's going to block Ojamo. So he's going to create
the seal right in the middle of the Eagles defense, right through the teeth of the defense.
That creates one edge, one lane for D'Andre Swift on this run.
If we go to the next shot, you see, all right, well, what are the other keys to this block?
Well, you've got a double team at the point of attack against Jalen Carter.
Carter got worked on these double teams throughout the first half.
Now, he made some plays in the second half, and then there were other plays where he got moved
again.
But here's an example of him getting worked by a double team.
So he gets completely uprooted off his spot.
Zach Bond tries to go back door
on the guard on Joe Tunney
so he tries to go back door
and what this does
because you got OJamo getting cut
on the on the WAM block
let's go to the next shot
you can see here's the lane
here's the alley Ojamo's cut
Bon goes back door
Carter gets moved so now you've got
the clean lane for DeAndre Swift
and we know like if you can keep things clean
for DeAndre Swift that's where the
explosiveness comes into play
Sequin hasn't seen a hole like this since
2024 and so now you got Swift
he's going to go
go right through the teeth of the Eagles defense.
He gets up to the second level.
And we go to the next shot and you get a mistackle of the third level.
Sidney Brown comes in too hot.
He doesn't break down.
He cuts back.
And this ends up going, I think it was, this was a 23 yarder there,
towards the end of the first half or the end of the first quarter.
Ugly.
Not great.

These double teams basically get taken out when you play a front
the way that the Eagles are playing right now.
So where is the read here from an un-guy?
Let's go to the next shot.
And the crease comes from the right guard,
Jonah Jackson, from media, from the Philly suburbs.
He's on Jaylon Carter one-on-one.
And he's going to take his outside arm,
and he's going to go full extension right into Carter's outside armpit,
and he's going to pin him inside.
And we go to the next shot
and you can see that
you get the push there
from Jonah Jackson.
Again, but collapses Carter inside
and there's the,
I mean, it's a very clean lane.
You've got the other defensive tackle
next to Carter,
Byron Young.
He's working upfield
against the potential boot.
Nolan Smith gets blocked
by the tight end on the backside.
Nicobie's one-on-one
with Darnell right,
the right tackle.
He's not going to win that.
That's not a battle
that Nicobie's going to win.
So Menangai walks into the end zone.
It's a,
they got worked up front.
guys it was a it was not an ugly air was not a pretty day for the eagles defensive front
viny when you watch i wish i had better news for you when when when you watch them getting
blown up up front like that does that i mean we know that these are talented guys is that effort is
it execution attention to detail what what jumps out to you when you see that definitely the attention
of detail because uh friend correct me if i'm wrong there's a couple more plays when
had in the beginning they had design cut back plays like all the flow was going to
one side and he just patiently waited patiently waited come back and it was nothing
there so that had to be offensive film study from Chicago knowing that we're
aggressive team once we get going we get going because it was yeah there were some
players kept doing the same overall like they they spread it out against the Eagles
base so you know you've got
Nolan Smith or whoever, you know,
lined up over somebody in the slot.
You've got like Moro Gimo playing like a pseudo-defensive end.
And then he gets blocked down by the tight end.
And there's, yeah, there's like a wide open lane there.
It happened about four times.
Yeah, and plays like that.
When those kinds of things happen, you know,
sometimes it could be that the, all right,
the backside linebacker over pursued or the safety on that side,
you know, it was too aggressive playing downhill.
Maybe a tight end kind of ran a route on the back side
to take that defender away from the,
run right there's all different reasons why something like that can happen but i agree there was too many
times where the the front got bullied up front that gets the running back up to the second level
and then all right where's that second level pursuit where's that backside fill uh and they were
non-existent and too many of those runs yeah all right so friend what's your uh we did i think we did
did the panic meter earlier this week where you at now i was the highest on that you were the highest
you're right uh it hasn't gone down

I'm doing well.
I got a lot of locker room notes.
I know that it was
and take us through what's
and take us through what's in E.J.'s notebook.

All right.
Let's start with the question that I think all of Philadelphia is wondering.
Our change is needed on the offensive staff.
You know, Nick Siriani said after the game that they are not making a change.
F.A caller is how he put it.
He said they're going to evaluate everything, but he said that he has confidence in Kevin.
And then, you know, the overall message was that there were a lot of things causing the
offensive struggle. It is not just Kevin Petullo. So, again, players echoed that sentiment.
They said that it was a crisis to this offensive staff. The next thing, the unacceptable
run defense is what you heard in the Eagles locker. And Jalen Phillips called it unacceptable.
And Kobe Dean said, if you're a defensive coordinator, you start with stopping the run. And the
Eagles weren't able to do that, obviously, against the Bears this evening. And then the final thing
is that there was definitely a sentiment that the sky is not falling in the Eagles locker.
You know, Cam Juergen said that the habit they formed the season
is winning four games in a row, losing two in a row,
and then going on and winning the next four.
He said, let's go in the next four.
I know that that's probably, but I do think that that was definitely,
it definitely was a sentiment in the Eagles locker
and after the game to them.
Okay, before we get to the other reporting notes that you have
and what else you heard from the players,
I want to know what you think.
Do you agree with that?
Do you think the sky is not falling?
I do not. I think that even Cam Juergens' evaluation of the four straight wins, we were talking about a lot of these things when they were winning games.
And, you know, Jalen Hertz says this, says this often that the things that don't get you, they don't, things, some things don't get you until they do.
And I think we've seen that in these last two games, you know, especially on offense, these prolonged stretches where they consistently put the defense in bad situations, you know, those prolonged stretches of, you know, stagnation in the three and outs.
there's a lot of reasons to not have confidence in this Eagles offense figuring it out.
You know, my main takeaway after this game is if it's not Kevin Petullo,
if it's not just one thing, then have a solution for the way that they look on offense right now.
And I'm starting to wonder, you know, if the answer to that question is no.
I mean, you know, it's getting late in the season.
You know, a lot of the guys even talked about the urgency has to pick up to figure out what's
go, what, where to go with this Eagles offense.
And yeah, again, it doesn't seem like they have answers.
it sure doesn't because if they had answers it seems like they would have come already this has been
as as franist duly pointed out post by when you would have thought that they could put some answers
together they've been one of the worst offenses in football the last four weeks so the answers are
not there right now we'll see what they can do in terms of what you did see what were sort of
the scenes of the locker room and what was the vibe in there given the way that they sort of got
manhandled in this game yeah so the first thing i noticed is that jalen hertz was in the corner of the
locker room having a conversation with Kevin Petulow. Just before I hopped on with you guys,
I heard Jalen Hertz say that he has a lot of confidence in Kevin Petulow. And, you know, I thought
that that conversation was an interesting one. Again, we've seen sometimes J.Len Hertz is,
you know, very quick out of the locker room. And this was not one of those evenings. And then you
saw Devante Smith, A.J. Brown and Sequin Barkley all sitting at their locker, still in their game
pants, kind of talking through the game afterward. You know, we heard from A.J. Brown and
Saquan Barkley afterward, DeVante said that he had to go to the trainer. So we did not hear from
him but you know definitely um i wouldn't say it was maybe a somber of a locker room as you would have
expected but definitely some frustration some palpable frustration when you first walked in there
what did a jay say um you know a j said that uh you know it's obviously a frustrating game here
i got my notes here um yeah the thing i wrote down with a jay was that he he really did not
appreciate the question on uh if changes were needed with the offense but you know i i he said
that what you'd expect him to say i think he's been very careful
and what he said, and, you know, he said that he was confident that the offense is going to be able to figure this down.
You know, was it the most, like, full, full-hearted, like, vote of confidence?
Not necessarily, but, yeah, he was, I think he's trying to just stay under the radar at this point.
It would be my evaluation on AJ's press conference.
Now, Sequin, I know he said the thing about this, this game was kind of weird.
It was, it was also an interesting flow for him usage-wise.
What did he say about that?
yeah he said it was it was a weird game he said that you know it was kind of the the state of the game
that led to him only having those 13 carries I didn't think that too few you know in terms of his
usage but yeah no I definitely he just kept that going that it was a weird game it was you know
you didn't get a good feel for the game and my my guess is when you're going three and out as
often as the Eagles offense does it is going to feel weird it's you know you're not going to get
into a rhythm. And they've been, you know, among a very, a multitude of things, they have been
arithmetic a lot this season. So, yeah, I think that you can attribute it to that. I mean, if you
look at Sequin's numbers, kind of like if you look at Jalen Hertz's numbers, it don't look terrible.
You know, the average yards per carry weren't terrible. But you think back in the game,
there were a few instances where they had negative runs that really put them behind the sticks,
which, as we know, if the Eagles offense gets behind the sticks, they got no answers for those
those situations. So I definitely think there was some costly runs and kind of contributed to that
number. And then one of the times they did get behind the sticks, they actually get out of it
with an AJ Brown first down. That's a garbage OPI call. Yeah. Yeah. AJ didn't, he kind of
no-souled the question about that. You know, he was a little bit, I would say he's trying to,
I get careful with how he answered that one. Did you hear anything about the, the push,
Fumble? Yeah, Jalen said that that's on him. You know, he said that he was hoping that his forward
progress had been stopped and that they had blown the play dead. He mentioned the Giants game where
his forward progress was blown dead before the fumble. But now, he was critical of himself
and the two and the turnovers. I mean, maybe that isn't necessarily the lesson a lot of people
will take from the game, but it's definitely something that Jalen harped on. And, you know,
it's something that they consistently harp on. E.J., what were your feelings about going for the
two point conversion when they did? Bow and I agreed. I see some chatter in the chat.

Was there any talk of it in the locker room?
Probably not, but what did you think about it?
Yeah, Nick Siriani alluded to what I expected him to allude to.
And it's the reason I don't have an issue with it.
You want to know what you need as early in the game as you possibly can.
So if you convert there, you know, you make it a one possession game and you know you
only need the one possession.
But to have that information earlier in the game makes more sense than leaving it
until the end of the game.
I understand it kind of keeps the hope alive.
necessarily, you know, per se, but it's definitely, to me, I mean, the analytics support it,
and I do think philosophically it makes sense. You know, I've come on here and been critical
of Nick Siriani's fourth quarter decisions in the past, but the two-point conversion there,
I think that that does make sense with the conventional, or, you know, maybe not the conventional
thinking, but the, the advanced sort of the way that the game has evolved.
It's not really even an analytics thing. It's, it doesn't, it doesn't change the wind probability too
much it's just about like knowing it's more of like a human dynamics thing yeah i did speaking of
aggressiveness i did find jalen i found it interesting that jalen hurts he was talking about the tempo
that kind of got them out of out of a rut offensively he talked about i have it written down here
he said the tempo equals aggressiveness you know it's it's when you can dictate terms to the defense
and he thinks that that that was maybe the thing that kind of got them going which you know
brings they do that more often right can't they dictate terms to the defense more frequently

yeah you know he's definitely more polyanish than I think a lot of fans are and that was the big takeaway I had from him but I do think in general just like in the beginning of the season when he said that the rushing that the rushing game was exactly like it was a season ago yeah he said that Sequin was on the same pace he was last year I think I think he looks at the wind column and he points to that but he did say that they were the sloppier team and that's why they lost and you know I think watching
it back, it was clear that the Eagles offensive line, it just feels like across the board.
It almost, it's like they take turns losing at the point of attack in a way that's confounding,
given like the way they played last year.
So, yeah, I think injuries play a big part of it, but yeah, they definitely were, definitely
struggled for most of the game, really all right.
So, E.J., I mean, what's your, what's your spighty sense?
What do you, what do you, how do you think the Eagles handle the next nine?
days as an organization.
This is an opportunity for them to make a change.
You know, they have the extended time.
You know, and I do think while Nick Siriani said that they're not making a change
at the play caller position, it is, it's probably an organization.
