Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello, everybody. The P.H.O.I. Eagles postgame show live from the Xfinity Lounge, presented by Bet365 and Ashley. I'm Bo Wolf. I'm joined by Super Bowl champion Vinnie Curry in that same very building. Jamie Lynch, we're going to hear from Fran Duffy in a little bit, and we're going to hear from E.J. Smith live in Minnesota, Minneapolis, whatever you want to call it. We're going to hear from you, the people in the chat. As we discuss a perfect performance from J. and the Eagles 28 to 22 victory to get them off the Schneide and over to 5 and 2. Let's go around the horn with our initial takeaways.
Starting point is 00:00:50 Vinnie, what do you got? My guy was cooking. I know somebody that's happy and we all know who that person is besides everybody in the channel's Eagle fans. Jeffrey Lurie? Definitely happy. Definitely happy.
Starting point is 00:01:03 I'm going to say AJ Brown. AJ Brown and Donald Smith. Oh, but he's open. Jalen Hertz in this game, Vinny, 19 of 23, for 326 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions, a perfect 158.3 passer rating touchdowns of 79 yards to Devante Smith, 37 yards to A.J. Brown, 26 yards to A.J. Brown. And when the game was on the line, third and long,
Starting point is 00:01:29 you'd need a first down to win the game. You get single coverage on the outside, and he just hoists it up to A.J. Brown, game over. Oh, my. How bad are you guys in the chat and both of you guys. How bad you, I think AJ wasn't in front. We were laughing at the way that he goes down,
Starting point is 00:01:47 it's like it's so clear he watched those yards. And he's like, oh, I guess like supposed to just go down. Man, but that's, listen, they play Eagle football today. Everybody's happy.
Starting point is 00:01:57 You know, that, that, to see the passing game open up like that and they've really dominated the passing game. And they just, just go a couple weeks prior. We were saying how much we miss,
Starting point is 00:02:10 Isaiah, that's my guy and everything. A tough day for him. It was a tough one out there for him. I think Howie was in the meeting rooms this week and he was like, listen, we got to build the game plan this week around beating Isaiah Rogers so I don't look so bad. Man, and let me just tell you, they did a hell of a job, man.
Starting point is 00:02:25 They really did. They did a hell of a job. But it goes back to tell you like, this is what everybody's been waiting for. Now, the only thing is, because you've got to get my voice like what? Once you get that going and the office line, get back to, you know, bulldozing things,
Starting point is 00:02:39 the way we know it, man, we're rocking and rolling. What a great way for the Eagles. We'll talk about the offensive line. We'll talk about what is fairly a struggling running game, Jamie. We'll talk about the defense, which came up big a few times. What's not great over the course of the game, but made the big plays when it mattered. But let's get your takeaway, Jamie. I'm going to go ahead, Bowen this to Devante Smith game.
Starting point is 00:02:58 That was, E.J. can't have that one. That was something special. He is such a good player. He's tough across the middle. He's good around the sidelines. He's good. Like, he's fast. He's a, I mean, the two of them, we're so lucky to have them.
Starting point is 00:03:18 And here's a nice graphic of the two of their days right there. I mean, to have this example of what they can do and to look back at the previous weeks, it, like, makes it frustrating in a way because this is probably the best wide receiver room in the NFL. And to not utilize it to its maximum potential is it hurts. And you see what it can be, which is incredible. Nine catches for 183 yards and a touchdown for Devante Smith, four for 121 and two touchdowns for A.J. Brown. And I think what was interesting about this game, guys,
Starting point is 00:03:51 from the offensive perspective, is coming into this game, we thought, okay, the Vikings defense, they are vulnerable as a run defense. This can be the game where the Eagles, you know, regain their 2024 form from a rushing attack standpoint. Let's give the ball to Saquan 25 times. he's going to pop some big runs and that is not at all
Starting point is 00:04:12 what happened in this game and instead against the blitz and against the sim pressures and against the different things that Brian Flores was cooking up, this was a Jalen Hertz game. And I wonder if you guys think you know, we've talked about the Eagles trying to find their identity if this is what
Starting point is 00:04:28 their identity should be. Letting Jalen cook with those two guys on the outside. I mean with the state of the offensive line, I think it's a fair conversation to have. The offensive lines, I mean, look, we have Brett Tooth getting snaps at center. It's not an ideal running the ball situation. And with, I mean, BG talked about it this week, the four-headed monster on offense. You've Dallas Goddard, who's almost underutilized.
Starting point is 00:04:53 The two of those guys on the outside is a ridiculous luxury to have. So I'm not opposed to it. They got to figure something out. They got to figure their identity out offensively. And if that has to be it, sure, do it. Just to underscore it all, you know, he has the perfect passer rating. By EPA per dropback, it's the best game of Jalen Hertz's entire career, including the playoffs. You know, he made a bunch of big plays in this game. If you just look at the team's performance by dropback in this game, seventh best performance of any offense in a game this season, 97th percentile. But the running game, the running game is really struggling.
Starting point is 00:05:29 Yeah. Below 20th percent in terms of their success there. And as we talked about, Sequin Barclay, you know, he got banged up in this game at the end, but 18 carries for 44 yards, 2.4 yards a carry. I don't know what the solution there is, but maybe it is. Prove to defenses that you can throw the ball down the field, and maybe that will eventually open things up for Sequan again.
Starting point is 00:05:50 I mean, I just feel like every time Sequant touched the ball with somebody in the backfield, though. Yeah, oh, it's not his fault. I think we agree about that. He looks right. I mean, that spin move right before he gets injured, he puts to pick up the first down when he's dead to rights in the backfield.
Starting point is 00:06:03 And we haven't seen the Eagles officer line look like the way they've been looking in years. So, you know, just got to get guys healthy. You know, we've got to get guys healthy. We've got to get them healthy fast. Because the way it cooked up today, I think we have a great opportunity, you know,
Starting point is 00:06:23 to really, you know, get all the way back on track the way we know how to be back on track. You know what I mean? Yeah. I mean, I feel like it'll come eventually. But in a game like this, I think we got to just, we got to celebrate what Jalen did.
Starting point is 00:06:38 Oh, you. He was awesome today. I think the play of the game was that third and 15 where he navigates the pocket, steps up out of traffic, and throws a dart to A.J. Brown on the side of him. I totally agree. That was, I mean, that, that's perfect Jalen hurts.
Starting point is 00:06:55 We've talked about one of the things that has looked out of sync in the passing game this year is, the scramble drills. Yeah. You know, there's never anybody open. And it starts on the opening drive, fourth down, Nick Siriani decides to go for it.
Starting point is 00:07:08 And that is not the play call there. And he bides enough time and points to A.J. Brown to go downfield. I mean, he's being covered by a linebacker. And he throws a nice ball to touchdown. And then on that play, I totally agree with you, Jamie. Third and long, which the Eagles have obviously struggled with.
Starting point is 00:07:24 He's rolling to his right. And that's not a throw he always makes. And he just dots A.J. Brown there on the sidelines. I mean, I think AJ caught it right here. Like, he hit him between the eyes. It was perfect. really like like man they give me they just just give me that lebron way feeling you know like you know when they click it yeah you know when they clicking and i just think you know just to
Starting point is 00:07:47 see them communicating the way they was communicating out there pointing and going pointing and going stop going even the one he threw to the the out route to the to the to the to the sideline he knew boom sweet around his hands went on out it was just even the even the touchdown at the goal line on the slant like it was single high coverage and the announcing crew did a nice job and they were like, yeah, Jay, or Jalen knew exactly where he was going with that ball and boom, and him right in stride,
Starting point is 00:08:12 right in enough room to make a play to get into the end zone. Those two were locked together today, so like, it's great. Now what did you guys think at the end of the game after the two-minute warning, Eagles get the ball, up six, they know the Vikings have all three timeouts.
Starting point is 00:08:29 This is a tough decision for Nick Siriani. Are you going to just run the ball and have them bleed all three timeouts? trust your defense. What did you make about the way he approached that, Jamie? I think you mentioned it when we were watching and I agreed. I think running on first is smart there. You got to make them burn a timeout quick. There's no way you were going to get a first down running the ball three straight times. Not the way they ran the ball today. No. And it's unfortunate. They just kind of missed the connection with AJ there. It was like a little bit of a back shoulder and he was kind of slain. I mean, it was actually it looked like on the replay.
Starting point is 00:08:59 That was the only place he could have throw the ball and not get it batted down, but it was still behind. AJ's body kind of just taking him the other way. It was a decent call there, but I'm glad they didn't want. I mean, in a game where the guy had a perfect quarterback rating, I think it's okay to trust him. I'm telling you, but it is. That was like poised you to watch. I like that.
Starting point is 00:09:17 Let's get to some of the super chats here as everybody's fired up from the Eagles game. Woo! Bring in Fran Duffy. Pat Fienis says, hard to reconcile how bad Siriani was today. And I will say this. In a game where you see Jalen Hart's playing at this level, boy.
Starting point is 00:09:34 It's like the curse of following the Eagles that you watch the quarterback play this well and your first thought is, see, that's why you don't give up at the end of the first half. And for those of you who didn't see it, the Eagles get the ball with a chance to maybe, you know,
Starting point is 00:09:47 steal a field goal at the end of the first half. Now, they were coming off three straight, three and outs after their touchdown drive on offense. They had been struggling, but they get a first down. Jillian Hertz gets sacked. It's third and 13 with about 20 seconds left. They've got two timeouts.
Starting point is 00:10:01 They're at about like their 40-yard line or so, and they just let the half go. They don't even try to pick up yards and potentially pick a long field goal. And I really did think that that was kind of loser stuff. Yeah, that was bad look. Just come on. What are you doing?
Starting point is 00:10:17 Give Jake Elliott a chance to make a long field goal. Just try. All we're asking is try. Yeah, I did Jake, yeah, then you go back to watching what you end up happening with Jake and missing that one. And this is true. Yeah. And now maybe the, you know, in Nick's mind, something is broken in the first half offensively.
Starting point is 00:10:37 Let's get in. Let's try to fix it. And to his credit, the offense looked much better in the second half. Right. But still, I don't disagree with that being a tough decision there. Old Greenie says Mike McDaniel, Mike McDaniel, Mike McDaniel, Mike McDaniel. Dolphins getting embarrassed. Yeah, too.
Starting point is 00:10:54 Got bench. Old Greenie, I think I have to say Mike McDaniel as well to hold his own. So she can you imagine him with these weapons and him and Nick together? Oh, my God. Now, there's some history there because he and Vic did not have a very good marriage for a year in Miami. I don't know that they get along very well. Well, Mike McDaniel, I'm sorry. The Eagle Job ain't for you.
Starting point is 00:11:17 Yeah, you're not certainly not getting rid of one to get rid of the other. Cash Squatch. Tell Les, I miss him. Down to Les. We love Les. Polar Jam. That was funny. When Rogers was getting cooked, I said to myself,
Starting point is 00:11:29 is this my king? A little black panther reference I like that. Andrew Morris with a super chat says all we got to do is stop running on first down and then maybe there's something to that as well. There's some predictability elements of the running game
Starting point is 00:11:45 and the sets they do and the downs they do like down in distance you called it out once or twice we're in the game you were like so predictable. And then another thing, you've been wanting under the center you've been wanting to play action. Play action is good.
Starting point is 00:11:57 You're wanting that. It's not illegal. This goes to the conversation we had on Friday with Danes, if you guys watched it, where it seems like every game, they come in with one little new wrinkle, right? Two weeks ago, it was the RPO. Okay, we're going to spam the RPO in this game, and it worked that game. This game, it was under center. We're going to be under center to try to run the ball and play action.
Starting point is 00:12:21 I think there were about four or five snaps of under center play action from the Eagles in this game after having, I believe, zero in the first six games, including. including the 79-yard touchdown pass to Devante Smith. Beautiful stuff. I would still like to see some other things. Like, why were there none of the RPO's in this game? But this is like, this is probably being too critical. I thought it was nice to see that.
Starting point is 00:12:45 Yeah. It was very clear that that was something that over the past, you know, mini buy they had. They were like, okay, we are going to incorporate this into the game plan this week. Yeah, it's always nice to see, you know, a counter from within. The self-scouting has to pay off and be visible to us and it looks like they are. Now Vinnie,
Starting point is 00:13:03 we will get to the larger picture of the defensive performance because there were some things that were very encouraging, some things that weren't so great, but I do want your take on watching Carson Wentz today. You want to, you want a reliever?
Starting point is 00:13:23 Man, he just didn't, he didn't just not the, just didn't look like the Carson once I once remember. From that building. of course. Last time you were there with the Eagles
Starting point is 00:13:36 when they played there. Carson's on the sideline, but you're winning the Super Bowl. No big deal. He was obviously a huge part of it that season. And I think we saw a lot of the, like, 2019 Carson Wentz in this game. 26 of 42 for 313 yards.
Starting point is 00:13:51 Made some nice throws. Sure, made some nice throws. Celsius is for the boys. Yeah. All right. Set them around. Yeah, victory Celsius. I mean, what are they doing
Starting point is 00:14:01 if they're not going to sponsor? This office. runs on your stuff, guys. Come on. Made some nice throws, but also missed some wide open guys, took some bad sacks, did some crazy stuff with his legs. This was not an unfamiliar performance to Eagles fans from Carson Wentz. Yeah, the interception to Drew McCuba was hilariously,
Starting point is 00:14:21 like the most Carson Wentz play ever. He forces those hero type of plays where he just doesn't have the arm to really get it there. And you knew he was good for at least one or two turnovers today. So I'm very thankful, Bo, that we don't have to talk this week about losing to Carson Wenz because that would have sucked. And if A.J. Brown and them were grumpy, like the pivot point of this in the season and Wence being at the helm, like, it was such a big week. Thank God they didn't blow that. You know what let's do? Since we're all cooling down, let's do our Ace Hardware Temperature check. That's right.
Starting point is 00:15:05 hardware temperature check, where we talk about who's heating up and who's cooling off. And I don't think there's any question about who's heating up. It's Jalen Hertz. Jalen Hertz, 19 of 23. Once again, for 326 yards, three touchdowns. Touchdown passes of 37 yards, 79 yards, and 26 yards. We talked about that rolling right completion to A.J. Brown. And then the nice and easy hoist to a wide open A.J. Brown on the decisive third and
Starting point is 00:15:35 long in the final minute of this game. Yeah. Congratulations to Jalen Hertz after a tough couple weeks. Yeah, I was heating up a little bit. He is heating up! In here. It's warm back here. He is very warm.
Starting point is 00:15:48 I'm not a lie, but I love the bell. You like the bell. I like the bell. That's the sixers guys, bell, yeah. I like the bell. Lean into that bad boy. Yeah, we're going to have to, I don't know. We'll get a theme for you to.
Starting point is 00:16:02 Like the bell. Yeah, it's a little warm in here, isn't it? I really want to crack a window desperately. All right, let's talk a little bit about the defense. Really the difference in this game was that the Eagles made the big plays. Now, a great call by Vic Fangio on the pick six by Jalick Hunt. And I wonder if that's one of the plays that Frayn will break down for us. But, you know, they're showing blitz.
Starting point is 00:16:27 They send four. Jailix Hunt drops back and he's right in the window that Carson Wentz is throwing to. And the former college safety picks it off and goes to the house. What a great-R-R-Zone play. Yeah. That was amazing. And to get the end zone like that. You ever have a pick, Finney?
Starting point is 00:16:42 No. You ever get your hands on the ball? In coverage. Yeah, I got the hand on the ball, definitely. In coverage. That was the Billy Davis defense, though. Yeah, well, of course. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:51 I mean, Jim's not dropping you. Not at all. Unless, you know what? Cool thing about Jim was, if he's seen everybody, if you see either me or BG, breathe the hard, yeah, that person is going to drop. Oh, interesting.
Starting point is 00:17:04 Yeah. I like that. That makes sense. And then, of course, in the next possession, they get the interception from Andrew McCuba. He talked about Jamie, which is just sort of a lofted up ball from Carson Wentz. But I think the story of this game for the defense
Starting point is 00:17:17 was what they did in the red zone. Yeah. One of them was the result of kind of a tiki-tack holding call. Great play by the Vikings, but a great play by Dijin. One of six for the Vikings in the red zone. And that explains why, like, if you look at the advanced numbers
Starting point is 00:17:33 of this performance on defense, by EPA per drive, because they made the big plays and were tight in the red zone, it's like a 72nd percentile performance from the defense. By success rate on a per play basis, how good are they, all the way down to 13th percent? Because the Vikings were really moving the ball pretty well. I'm still a little bit worried about the run defense,
Starting point is 00:17:54 but this defense does have a way of sort of making the big plays when it needs to. Also, I thought the pass rush was a little bit better thing. I agree with that. Uche got home today. Ushay got home. Big snack by Moro Ojimo. Oging and the Redshaun.
Starting point is 00:18:07 Carter had a game changing. That interception, he helped kind of, you know, like, yeah, man, I just like the way, I like the approach to the game. Overall, the way the Eagles approached this game was, you know, it was good. And what was interesting as the Eagles were searching for some pass rush help, and we will get to the conversation about Brandon Graham in a little bit, is on base downs when they were going heavy, and they had three defensive tackles. on the field.
Starting point is 00:18:37 Nikobe Dean was all of a sudden a part of the defense again. He was in the middle with with Zach Bonn and Jihad Campbell was spending some time as an edge rusher. It didn't seem like he made
Starting point is 00:18:45 a huge impact as a rusher. But Nekobi Dean made a few plays and it's a new, interesting thing as Vic Fangio tries to incorporate everybody. If he had figured out, the cool thing is to see
Starting point is 00:18:59 the Kobe Dean flying around and that big hit he had a hundred line of scrimmon. Yeah, that was nice. I thought that was a, I would say, energy booster because you see the way they rally around them and they was all hyped about it. Yeah, I think jihad playing the edge there, Beau, is like, it's just they're kind of forced to do it because they have so few bodies.
Starting point is 00:19:20 Hence our coworker being in the news earlier today, they're, they just legit need some bodies to be in the edge. So I think that the dean, I don't think if Nolan and BG and some of the other guys return, that's going to be a long-term thing. I think that's just something they're doing out of necessity because they need bodies. Because Vic has always talked about, like, kind of being lukewarm about it. Like, he never really, like, was like, yeah, Jihad's going to be a great edge guy.
Starting point is 00:19:45 Yeah. He thinks his strength set linebacker. So I think this is just a temporary kind of band-aid for the defense. I think that's probably right. Okay, a couple more super chats, and then we'll head to break. And finally hear from Fran Duffy. Musa says,
Starting point is 00:20:00 Wence is like an ex who has done so bad since you broke up, you feel bad. I was feeling like that on the couch You were I can't believe You were like I can't believe this is the guy from 2017 Like you know It just
Starting point is 00:20:14 And it just seemed like You know he was pressing and pressing and pressing And I was like damn Better look next week champ Yeah I mean I legit thought he deserved MVP that year Like even though it was only what 12 games Yeah it had been done before in the NFL Like he was that good
Starting point is 00:20:31 To go to what we saw today is like, wow. Bill Niles says, time to revisit Bow's preseason Legerius Sneed speculation. Everyone on that squad is available. Sounds like a smart prediction from somebody. I can see that.
Starting point is 00:20:50 Yeah. I think if you, we will get to the BG conversation, I think after we talk to Fran, but. I think there's two moves. If you think that that helps the edge enough and you want to cash in your chips
Starting point is 00:21:03 for corner, I could see that. Yeah, I mean, Addison was ripping them up a little bit today. I am concerned about that CB2 position and Adori. But you're going to make two trades? Like, wasn't Chigori and Bennett supposed to be? Well, you got that.
Starting point is 00:21:17 I mean, the Tang Spigsby trade was worth it after today's performance. One carry for 11 yards. I mean, that was great 11 yards. Meanwhile, we got to see Xavier Gibson on the kickoff. And you made the observation and aptly. Yeah. That's seen somebody that fast wearing, is it 87? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:34 I mean, after not giving away Brent Selleck's 87 for so long, to then give it to a guy who looks so different and kind of messes with your head. Yeah, it does. That's weird. I think it was just a shocking factor that they gave it less and mighty wear. Yeah. For a long time, they didn't. I mean, I agree with that.
Starting point is 00:21:50 Eventually, there's only so many. Yeah. How do you feel about seeing somebody wear 75? I don't really, you know, I don't. I just, you know. I feel like you don't love it. Yeah. I mean, I know, I was like, I just, you know.
Starting point is 00:22:02 It's not you don't. I don't, you know, I'll be happy. for the person. Right. You know, you kind of like, all right now, come on now.
Starting point is 00:22:08 You know, but it's like, we talk about Brett Sellecare. You're not mad about them giving it away. It's just that you don't really want to see
Starting point is 00:22:14 somebody else in it other than you. Well, now, if the person's dominating helping us win, I'm all for it. What if somebody
Starting point is 00:22:20 sucks were in your number? Yeah. I believe what you meant was. Flag on the play. All right, let's go to break. And on the other side, we are going to hear from
Starting point is 00:22:31 Fran Duffey as he breaks down some of the key plays from this game. We start, however, with our friends at Xfinity. We're here in the Xfinity Lounge. You're watching it in beautiful, pristine picture and quality because of Xfinity.

All right, there's a new snack out there righteous felon beef sticks. Skyler and Page, my daughters, they love them so much, they take them to school and they love when I talk about them on the post game show. But that's how good they are. A four-year-old loves these things. Why? Because they're healthy. They're nutritious. It's protein.
Starting point is 00:23:52 You feel good after eating them. And they have four flavor pack sticks that go way beyond the usual gas station suspects. You know, they have the OG hickory. They got the lemon, pepper, turkey, the street taco pork, and they have the fiery habanero for those that like a little heat in their lives. You can grab all four flavors at righteous felon.com and use code P.HLY 20 to get 20% off your first order. They have two ounce jerky bag, two for ten at Wawa. That's a great deal in the jerky world. You can also find them at giant royal farms and thousands of other independent stores across the country. Righteous felon, high protein, bold flavor. no BS.
Starting point is 00:24:39 Back on the PHA Eagle's post-game show and it's time now to head to Fran's film room presented by Ashley. There he is. A big smile on his face as the Eagles take this game down. Rain, good to see you, my friend.
Starting point is 00:24:55 Now we got a little mute issue there, Fran. We'll be right with you. You look good. Thank you. Oh, now you sound good too. There you is. Boy looking sharp. What's happening?
Starting point is 00:25:07 guys. Thank you. We're going to get to, I believe, breaking down all four of the Eagles touchdowns in this game. Yes, yeah, that's a good point. Your general takeaways about, I guess the attack plan on offense and what you saw from Jalen Hertz. Yeah, it's weird because the numbers, obviously, for Jalen Hertz looked great, and there were some great plays in the game. But I don't know.
Starting point is 00:25:31 I watched the same game that you guys did at halftime. I didn't feel great about the past game or the offense leaving the second quarter. and coming up here to get stuff ready and watch you guys at halftime. So weird performance. I am excited to go back and watch it on tape, but certainly Jalen Hertz, this was one of his better games, certainly for this season.
Starting point is 00:25:50 Yeah, Fran, I thought we talked about it earlier, but I thought that third and 15 dart to AJ on the sideline. That was the game. I thought that was one of the best Jalen Hertz plays I've seen in a long time. Yeah, he ripped a couple of those throws. I mean, there was the end breaker, or the deep in cut to Devante Smith off play action.
Starting point is 00:26:08 We'll talk about that, the under center play action in this game. But there were a number of throws in this game that certainly, you know, kind of said like, all right, like Jaylon's feeling it today. Yeah, yeah, I mean, you come in here as the owner of a swooper with under center play action. This was, you mean, you must have been going nuts. Well, I'm just glad that we don't have to relitigate this for next week. I mean, I'm sure you'll find a way, but I'm glad that we don't have to, you know, talk about how, you know, we're going to bump this down.
Starting point is 00:26:34 and I shouldn't be allowed to keep that moving forward in perpetuity, but they took care of business on that end today. Do you think that this was something they saw was going to be effective against this defense in particular, or it was just something they wanted to add to their bag on offense? My guess is that it's something that they felt like, we have to do a little bit more of this, right? At least we have to incorporate more play action into our attack.
Starting point is 00:26:59 And it's funny because, you know, we saw the under center play action was obviously a big part of it. I'll be interested to look back at the numbers on the shotgun play action end of things as well. But just overall, my guess is they said, all right, this is something we want to see an uptick uptick in. I doubt that it was game plan specific. I mean, we'll find out next week when they play the Giants and see if they go back to the way that they played the first few games. But I do think that this is just something where, hey, like, how can we improve what we're doing schematically? Well, let's turn this dial up a little bit here when it comes to the play action
Starting point is 00:27:31 pass. And before we get into the touchdowns and the grabby grabs, Fran, what what looks wrong to you with the running game? You know, it's one of those things where, you know, we went, what was it? It was a couple weeks ago. It was after the Bucks game where we just went and watched every single Sequin Barkley run. I knew it was something different every single time. And typically in football, when it's something, you know, the one side of the ball is, it's hurting in one facet. It's never really one specific thing. And I feel that way about this run game where, you know, I don't know that it's just one player. I think last week, everyone would have pointed to Brett Tooth and said like, oh, it's his problem. But even before he came back into the lineup for Cam Juergens in this game, they were still
Starting point is 00:28:15 having issues running the football. So I do think that at the end of the day, left tackle, left guard center, not 100%, you know, not the level that they were playing last year. You see you're not getting the pro bowl quality play that you got from the right guard spot. And I think that, at the end of the day, the teams are also gearing up to be able to stop the run. There's a lot of players geared, you know, out with the line of scrimmage. That didn't stop them a year ago. But also, that's why there's going to be regression to the mean when you're talking about leaning on 60-yard runs, you know, as far as, you know, being one of the lifebloods of your offense.
Starting point is 00:28:49 And I think we have seen that a little bit over the course of this season. Some of those runs that hit last year obviously have not hit this year. What's Sequan's longest run 19 yards so far through seven games? Fran, scramble drills really benefited the Eagles today. Is that just, I don't know how to say, a more conscious effort by Devante and AJ to think of coming back to plays. Did you notice anything off of that and why the scramble drills? Because we've talked about it in the first six weeks, how they've sucked this year at the scramble drill. It seemed to really be in tune today.
Starting point is 00:29:23 You know, a scramble drill is, I would say I would almost equate it to defensively like turnovers, where, you know, every, every coaching staff is going to say, like, we work really, really hard on this. We work really hard on drilling it. But at the end of day, there is a sense of, like, randomness to scramble drills where, all right, the quarterback breaks the pocket and chaos ensues. And while it is orchestrated chaos, you know, all the receivers have jobs to do in terms of, all right, the quarterback breaks left, here's how I have to cut my route off. Someone's working to the sideline.
Starting point is 00:29:52 Someone's working back to the football. Someone's working downfield. Everybody has their roles as the play ensues a little bit. incumbent upon the quarterback to be on the same page as those routes. But at the end of the day, like, they're all going to look a little different. They're all going to feel a little different. And you're going to go through some dry spells there where those just don't hit. And that's, again, one of the issues with playing outside of structure as often as you do.
Starting point is 00:30:15 If you're going to lean into randomness, like sometimes it's going to come back to bite you. And I think that you're kind of feeling that a little bit here in this game. And obviously it started with the opening drive. They were able to capitalize on a fourth down scramble drill with AJ Brown. What a transition, Fran, as you see up breaking down the first touchdown to AJ Brown where Jalen sort of calls it out. What did you see there? Yeah, well, let's go to the first one. This is actually, it's going to be AJTD, is we'll be the first one we're going to do here. And it was the opening drive, and it's fourth
Starting point is 00:30:44 and four. And this is their longest drive of the first two and a half quarters, because after that, we saw a string of three and outs from this offense. But you see you're going to have what looks to be some kind of a pressure look here from the Minnesota Vikings. and from Brian Flores here. So you're showing pressure, and the Eagles have seen a lot of these looks in recent weeks, but is it going to be pressure, or are they going to fall out in coverage?
Starting point is 00:31:06 It turns out on this play that they fall back into coverage. If we go to the next play, you'll see that one of the defensive line in there, he's going to drop out, a couple of the other defenders that were mugging up on the line of scrimmage. They are going to drop out. So it's just a three-man rush.
Starting point is 00:31:19 Didn't get a great look of the replay, but it looks like some kind of variant of cover two, where you've got two high safeties, and that's why you end up having a safety and Josh Mattelis matched up on A.J. Brown. You see him at the top of the screen here. If we go to the next shot, and you can see that Mattelis is matched up on A.J. Brown in space. That's an advantage, certainly for the Eagles. Jalen Hertz is looking at his right.
Starting point is 00:31:41 He's trying to work the right side of the screen. Dallas Goddard works a double move down the seam here. So he's going to act as if he's running a little stick route at the sticks, and then he's going to work towards the middle of the field. That's going to occupy that defender on that side. I'm pretty sure that's Isaiah Rogers here. year is he's going to occupy Isaiah Rogers. Now, what that does is when Jalen Hertz now breaks structure here because the timing
Starting point is 00:32:02 has all blown at this point. Once he knows the ball's not out at the top of his drop, all right, now even if he's not running around, you're basically, you're in scramble drill mode. And so if we go to the next shot, we all saw this in the broadcast where he basically points to A.J. Brown, now you're outside the structure of the play. And he says, all right, you work up field now. Even though I'm not rolling, I want you to start going into scramble drill rules. he sends AJ Brown up the field
Starting point is 00:32:26 and AJ Brown outruns the safety. You go to the next shot here in the last one. He outruns it. Great touch throw from Jalen Hertz. He puts it in a mailbox there down the field, drops it in for a touchdown. I feel like Occupy Isaiah Rogers is the political movement.
Starting point is 00:32:42 We all need to get behind. I think there's more pressing matters. All right, let's get to the next touchdown pass. And this came on your beloved under center play action a 79-yard bomb. That was crazy. Devante Smith as the Eagles looked like they were a little bit stuck
Starting point is 00:32:59 on offense coming out of the half. Sheelan Hertz bombs away. Yeah, well, let's go to, this is the Devante Smith, deep post route, and they come out with 12 personnel set, two receivers with two tight ends on the field. You have Dallas got her,
Starting point is 00:33:13 and the second tight end is Fred Johnson. Who's been calling for it, Franny? In this game, we saw a lot of it where you had extra offensive linemen out on the field in those situations. and it wasn't just the run game. Now, what they did the first few plays, you, E.J. and I were texting
Starting point is 00:33:29 and we said, like, yeah, they've run this a few times, but they're running the same play out of it constantly. And so the first three times, what we saw, if we go to the next shot, is you're going to see that Sequin Barclay, just basically it's a stretch toss play. They're tossing it to the strong side, and they're running it behind Fred Johnson and Dallas Goddard,
Starting point is 00:33:45 you know, to the field side, to the wide side of the field. Now, what's interesting about that is that when they come out and they run a play action fake here, if you go to the next shot, it is the opposite kind of action, right? And so this goes to show like not everything. It's not necessarily, oh, it's got to match up perfectly with what we're doing, right? We want to make sure we sell. If we're running the outside stretch toss action with Sequin,
Starting point is 00:34:10 well, we need to mirror that and pair that up. No, get into these heavy sets. You can sell run and you can still occupy, you know, the eyes of the defense, the way that you want to. Now, one of the big things, if you come out in this, way and you come out heavy personnel, six offensive line, what's the reaction going to be from the safety or from the defense? Typically, you're going to roll that safety, the extra safety down towards the line of scrimmage, which means you're going to play with a single high
Starting point is 00:34:35 safety down the field, right? So you're basically dictating to the defense. This is how we want you to play. We want you to play single high safety. And now we can run rap concepts that attack single high safety coverage. And that's what the Eagles call here. It's a beautiful post cross combination where you've got Devante Smith running the post over the top and then you've got A.J. Brown running the crosser. Now, if they do a good job of picking this up, you've got it running the shallow cross underneath it as well. But this is basically Jalen Hertz off play action from a super clean pocket reading that safety. Does he have the ability to take this post away over the top? Does he is in position to be able to take that away? If he is, then I'm going to
Starting point is 00:35:13 hit A.J. Brown on the deep dig. If he's not, then it's going to go bombs away to DeVante Smith. And you can see that Jalen is reading this safety here, and he puts this perfectly to Devante Smith just inside the far hash mark, and he's able to go in for a long touchdown, the longest of Devante Smith's career. So really good execution, good schematic, good game planning, like everything. All the positive things we can say there about that play schematically and from an execution standpoint for the Eagles pass game.
Starting point is 00:35:45 I wonder what you think about the identity search, we've talked about it, Fran, because if this team is not going to be able to sustain drives, thanks to the running game, do you think that they should be inviting this kind of high upside, bombs away kind of offense? Yeah, I mean, that's kind of what we were hinting at a couple of weeks ago after the Tampa Bay win, where, you know, they went out, they jump out an early lead on the Bucks. And in that game a year ago, honestly, over the majority of the last few years, the identity of the Eagles offense would dictate, all right, second half,
Starting point is 00:36:18 We're going to come out and we're going to choke hold this team. We're going to come out. It's going to be like an Anaconda tightening its price. It's going to be 10 minute drives. We're going to go, you know, 20 plus plays and we're just going to bleed this game out. And we're going to win by three scores. Well, they have not been able to run the ball in that way. So you come back and we said we talked to this is going to be the answer.
Starting point is 00:36:36 They threw a lot last week against the Giants. Even though they had some early run game success in that one, they went out and it became more of a throwing game and they didn't have success. So now it's like, all right, well, you're almost back to square one. Like, are they a running team? Are they a throwing team? How is that going to play out? The fact that they were able to have this success,
Starting point is 00:36:56 hopefully that gives them a little bit of confidence and they can keep that positive momentum rolling going into next week at the link. All right, one more touchdown pass to breakdown, and that is the second to AJ Brown from, I believe, 26 yards out. This is also another single high situation, wasn't it? I think Jalen might have motion to AJ into this look.
Starting point is 00:37:16 It was. So let's take a look at it. This is going to be the AJ post. So they come out in a condensed formation here. So you got 12 personnel once again on the field with two tight ends, you know, in the formation now. And so you've got A.J. Brown and Devante Smith stacked on top of each other before the snap of the ball. Well, they send A.J. Brown in motion. If you go to the next shot, you can see that AJ gets pushed out wide.
Starting point is 00:37:37 You know you've got some kind of man coverage look here. And just judging by the pre-snap look, they assume that they've got man-to-man coverage. And when Jalen Hertz takes the snap and drops back, you can just watch his eyes. He's looking right at the post safety. Because right now that safety is the only guy that can take this route away. If A.J. Brown does his job outside the numbers, then Jalen has to worry about that safety to make sure he doesn't jump the post. Right. So he's going to hold that safety. He's got a route coming from the tight end position in the back side. You can see got it working vertically down the seam here.
Starting point is 00:38:08 And now as soon as he hits the top of his drop after staring at that safety, you can already see he's cocking his arm back to throw and cut this loose to a. Jay Brown on the outside post route. So Devante Smith, he does a great job. We don't see it in the frame here. I'm excited to break this down on film tomorrow. But Devante Smith, he's got to win inside and hold that safety. Jalen's got to hold his eyes there in the middle of the field to also hold that safety. And it's up to A.J. Brown, he has got to beat his man outside.
Starting point is 00:38:35 He has got to make sure he gets outside leverage, or inside leverage, rather. And it's exactly what he gets here on this play. He does a great job of working inside Byron Murphy. And Jalen puts it on him. You could see the two defenders in the frame that I don't have circled there. Devante did his job. Jalen did his job. AJ did his job.
Starting point is 00:38:51 And it resulted in a touchdown. Okay. Now let's talk about the defense as we have finished with the offense. Nice job there, Frannie. This was a defense that made big plays in this game. Maybe wasn't consistent on a play-in, play-out basis, but made the big plays and starting with a really good call by Vic Fangio, who flummox our old friend, Carson Wentz.
Starting point is 00:39:12 Yeah, this was one where, you know, where is the past rush going to come from? What is this offensive line from Minnesota going to look like? They ended up getting a couple of their starters back, but the Eagles were still able to find ways to pressure and harass Carson Wentz throughout the course of the afternoon. And we could see here on this play that you've got a five-down look here where you've got the two edge rushers, three defensive linemen, and then potentially Zach Bond rushing here.
Starting point is 00:39:36 You've got the extra linebacker there, potentially rushing from depth here. So the Minnesota Vikings, protection-wise, schematically, like on a whiteboard, this looks good. They actually, where you've got the five down, your five offensive linemen are going to handle these five defensive linemen, and then the running back, he's going to account for the linebacker, Zach Bond, if he blitzes. So Carson Wentz, he knows what the protection is.
Starting point is 00:39:58 So he said, all right, if the running back gets sucked in here, that means it's a blitz because Zach Bond is coming here downhill from depth. Well, if you go to the next shot, you could see that you've got multiple edge rushers dropping out, both Jaylux Hunt and Jahad, Campbell on this play drop out in coverage. So when those guys drop out, this is a sim pressure where you've got Zach Bond. He does blitz. That's going to occupy the running back. And then you've got the three defensive tackles interior alignment, all blitz, all pressuring the quarterback as well. So it's a four-man rush. You drop the two edge rushers out. Vic Fangio has done this a couple
Starting point is 00:40:31 of times here this year. And this one is really well executed. But the reason why I bought up the protection rules and Carson Wentz understanding what the protection is, if you go to the next shot, you're going to see that the running back, he steps up. And Wentz knows, all right, the running back stepped up here. That means that Zach Bond's coming. It's a blitz. I got to get the ball out fast. I'm going to work the middle of the field.
Starting point is 00:40:50 It looks like it was manned coverage before the snap. This middle of the field route, too, Justin Jefferson should be wide open here. So I think he feels, all right, I'm going to be hot on this play. You could see Jalen Carter is about to deliver a big hit on Carson Went. So he knows that he's hot on this play. That's one of the beautiful things about these plays, too, guys, is that if you do have dominant defensive linemen that can win, one-on-ones. These kinds of looks, they put the pressure on the offensive line where, yeah,
Starting point is 00:41:14 you have to block one-on-one. You, you, because you've got to make sure that those eddressers are accounted for. If all six of those guys come, you don't want to make sure that any of them are cut free. So it's going to be really important for all of your guys to be able to hold up one-on-one. Jalen Carter wins here. He gets home, delivers a hit on Carson Wentz. But Jalick-Sunt is sitting there in the passing lane because he wants to be able, Carson-Wence, wants to be able to hit that blitzbeater in the middle of the field, Justin Jefferson. There's Jaylux Hunt, waiting as the whole player underneath. He jumps this route in the former college safety. He had a drop
Starting point is 00:41:43 interception a couple of weeks ago. So I'm sure that he was Jones in for one of these to get payback and he was able to come up with this when you go to the last shot here. He comes up with it and takes it back to the house. You make you jealous, Finney? You know what? It looks like that. Friend, remember the play
Starting point is 00:41:59 James Harrison had on that Kurt Warner and the Super Bowl? He liked that play. Yeah, a similar kind of idea. It's one of the things is like even the best quarterbacks here, you're going to get fooled by pressures like that one. What did you think, Fran, of what we talked about
Starting point is 00:42:18 with the adjustment to the base defense, with Niko Bedeen on the field and Jihad Campbell on the edge? Yeah, I mean, I'll be interested to see if that does continue here moving forward. Because really what we're seeing, all right, when the Eagles played, they faced 12 personnel. So you got two tight ends out in the field. The Eagles responded with base defense, which, all right, Nicopi Dean's going to come out.
Starting point is 00:42:39 he's going to play next to Zach Bonn, Jehad Campbell becomes an outside linebacker. Now, to me, when I was projecting Jehad Campbell as having pass rush upside, that's more in your rush package, not necessarily in your base defense where you have the threat of the run being incorporated into this
Starting point is 00:42:55 because he is going to be an undersized pass rusher as an off-ball linebacker. So for him to be able to hold up consistently at the point of attack, you know, against tackles and against tight ends, that could be a little bit of a chore for him early on in his career. So I am interested to see if that does continue,
Starting point is 00:43:12 if they do make some additions here early in the week to that edge group, is that something where that's going to be a one week thing? Nekobi did flash. So I don't know if it's necessarily, oh, we don't want to, are we going to take him off the field now? That will be interesting to see how that rotation works out. All right.
Starting point is 00:43:27 Okay. Fran, a coworker of ours has been mentioned in the news this week. Looks like some help is probably coming. If he comes and Nolan Smith returns, what the, and let's just assume for the sake of the conversation that he's the old 55, we all kind of know. Is cornerback two a more pressing need than the defensive edge room, in your opinion?
Starting point is 00:43:52 Or how do you see that? Yeah, I mean, if you get Nolan back and he's healthy, and if the scenario plays out the way that you're saying where you get Brandon Graham and it's 2024 version of Brandon Graham, then you're probably a good shape. You know, I think that you're certainly in better, shape than you have been for the last few weeks. Now, I do think that it's a question of whether or not
Starting point is 00:44:12 both of those things are going to happen. I don't think that that's a guarantee, especially, you know, next week against the Giants or, you know, after the buy. I think after the buy, you're probably hoping that you're pretty close to that level. But I don't think that that's a given. That said, yeah, they're going to have to figure a corner, you know, what are the, how are the ways that they can mitigate the issues they're having a corner? I think they could still coach around it, but it's going to be, that's going to be something that they have to work on week after week. Well, Vinnie, I want to hear your thoughts here when you heard the report of the possibility that Brande might be on retiring, considering it.
Starting point is 00:44:48 Man, I don't even, if I know, listen, B, what is there to consider, man? Bring your ass back, man. Bring your eyes back, man. Let me tell you all, let's just remember now. Let's go back. Who was the one to say, hey, put it all your cars on the table. That's aired this out now. Was everybody's problem?
Starting point is 00:45:07 That's right. Okay, now BG is considered to come back. It will look like today everybody's clicking on offense. Whoa, is that a coincidence? Yeah. I wonder, I wanted so. Maybe a little, just as much for the locker room presence. He need to be there, bro.
Starting point is 00:45:22 You need to be there. This is where the word veteran leadership is important. He needs to be there. And he can bring those young guys. Listen, the young guys are playing well, but they can be playing way better, and he could bring them up to speed. and we're going to be all right.
Starting point is 00:45:40 So I'm loving it. I'm loving the whole scenario thing. In theory, all of this, very speculative. Yeah. He is a different kind of player than they have on the edge right now.
Starting point is 00:45:50 He can set an edge in the run game. You know, the run defense is struggling. I think that is as big of a factor as the pass rush and his physicality is something that they don't quite have. However,
Starting point is 00:46:02 they did find a way to manufacture some edge rush pressure in this game. Fran, including a red zone sack by Josh Husha. Yeah, a big play in the game because you remember Minnesota goes down. They convert on fourth down. So now they get some momentum. Maybe they're going to try and see if they can sneak a touchdown in before the two-minute warning.
Starting point is 00:46:19 And I really like the front that they come out in on this play. It's first and 10. And you've got Jahad Campbell mugged up over the guard. And you've got the rest of the offensive line loaded to the opposite side. So you've got Jalen Carter right next to that. I've got Campbell circled there. Right next to him over the center is Jalen Carter. then next to him, you've got Jordan Davis
Starting point is 00:46:37 towards the top and you got Josh Ushay at the top. So right at the right off the snap, I'm like, all right, like this is a rush package look on first and 10. What are they going to run here on this play? Minnesota basically handles, all right, we're going to go five versus five. We're going to, it's going to be one verse one, big on big here on this play.
Starting point is 00:46:56 If you go to the next shot, you're going to see that Jihad Campbell does not blitz here. He basically is, but he bluffs and he just is going to occupy that left guard. The left guard stays trained, on Jahad Campbell, the running back, he's going to, he's kind of drifting. He wanted to make sure that nobody is going to blitz from the second level. All right, no Zach Bond, no safety, no nickel. All right, now I'm going to drift out, but the left guard is occupied. And so now we're going to shift our attention over to the opposite side where you've got three versus three at the top,
Starting point is 00:47:22 and the Eagles are running, basically just pick and pick and roll basketball here. It's two versus two. Jordan Davis is going to be the picker on the stunt, and Jalen Carter is going to work behind him. So Jordan Davis, he's going to punch the guard on that side, and then Jalen Carter's going to loop behind him and try and attack the center and try and get after Carson Went. So they're running a TT stunt on that side opposite of Jihad Campbell. Now, what I like here from Jordan Davis, if we go to the next shot, is that he gets full extension
Starting point is 00:47:52 and jacks that guard up into the backfield just for a step, and he forces the guard to step on Brian O'Neill's foot. So there's a little bit of a collision there. So we're going Zepruder film here. We're in a circle. You can see exactly where those guys have that collision with their feet. And now Josh Uche, he just gives Brian O'Neill just a little bit of a shove. And now O'Neal ends up on the ground.
Starting point is 00:48:15 And O'Neill's able to close for a sack. Jihad Campbell actually was spying there on that play, which was important because, you know, we saw that Carson Wentz made some plays with his feet in this game as well. And so you had Jihad Campbell there as a spy just in case. But Josh Ushay was there to be able to clean up. Really nice job. good execution from Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter, working the stunt inside.
Starting point is 00:48:35 But more importantly, like the putting Jehad Campbell up on the line of scrimmage to mug the guard and occupy the guard, if he's not there, well, now the guard is working inside and he's able to pick up the stunt and help those guys out. And maybe that doesn't happen, you know, and maybe that sack does not occur. And so just good scheme, good execution overall from Vic Fangio's unit and from that rush group.
Starting point is 00:48:57 Brian, it's just a matter of time before they start scheming Jihad Campbell up. to put them in some of the pass rush mix, rather as, you know, uh, uh, different type of games or anything. That's another plus of add in big 55 back there, because we all see 55 in the chip Kelly era,
Starting point is 00:49:17 play off the, play off the ball and involve him in, uh, Davis line, uh, stunts. And that, and that's like a thing where, you know,
Starting point is 00:49:26 and I'm not saying it. It's for the, for our viewers at home. Like the, that's, that's more on Jihad Campbell's play. And I do wonder how wary they are of throwing too much at the rookie is like, we're going to incorporate you into maybe like, you know, one package from a rush standpoint.
Starting point is 00:49:41 We want to throw too much at you early. But there's, it requires such like a feel in terms of being able to work on the timing with those guys. So that's going to be something I'm excited to monitor with Jehad Campbell moving forward is, you know, how they're able to incorporate him, not just as like a blitzer from depth. And you all know some of these sim pressures. They've done that. They can do that. but putting him up on the line of scrimmage in these rush situations
Starting point is 00:50:03 and then saying, all right, you're going to run a game with Jalen Carter or you're going to be a looper here on this stunt with like a pirate stun inside. Like that could, there's a lot of fun possibilities with Campbell from that role as well. Fran, nobody. And I mean nobody. Does it better than you. Thank you so much. What are we going to be looking forward to as you break things down from the actual film tomorrow at 2 o'clock
Starting point is 00:50:26 on the P.HLY Eagles post-regular, regular Ph.L.I. Eagle show. what's the first thing you're going to be looking forward to figuring out? I think I'm excited to look at the past game and just see like, you know, again, I know the completion numbers were really good for Jalen, but what were some of the missed opportunities in the first half? Because just that, again, I didn't have a good taste in my mouth coming up here to my office during halftime. So I'm excited to see what the offense looked like in the first half.
Starting point is 00:50:51 Was there meat left on the bone there? What did that look like? And did things just kind of open up schematically? I think that's the first time we've heard it's an upstairs office. I feel like that's a nice flex. Big flex. I mean, it could be a downstairs office. I don't know how that changes any.
Starting point is 00:51:05 Coming up to your office. Yeah. Well, I'm saying, like, why does that change if I have it in the basement or not? I'm just saying, you know, Mr. Penthouse over here. We appreciate it. It's hot in here. I don't feel great about it.
Starting point is 00:51:19 I think the first floor office is more of a flex on the upstairs office. Interesting, why? I think I agree with that. Because then you have a dedicated office. Like, there's an extra room that's dedicated to just be. in an office as opposed to a bedroom made into an office.
Starting point is 00:51:33 This was the junk room for the first two years that I lived in this house, and there's still like cardboard like right over there. So let's not get too excited. Levels. We're talking just one level. So the fact that you have a range of level. Yeah. I feel like that. Very blessed. Thank you, Bob.
Starting point is 00:51:47 Thank you. All right. Then I'll do it for a friend's film room. Thank you, Mr. Duffy. We will talk to you tomorrow at 2 o'clock. Okay, back in the P.HLY Eagles. podcast and Vinny, you know what time it is. Beef for the week.
Starting point is 00:54:08 It's time for the righteous felon. Beef for the week. Now at Righteous Felon, the beef of the week is given to like the employee of the week. But for us, we're talking about a hog molly. Could be offensive line, could be defensive line. Somebody's getting your beef of the week. Mr. Pick Six, got my beef of the week. I like that.
Starting point is 00:54:32 Not often that we get to see the bull. on parade the beef out in the open space like that but Jaylix hunt getting it done. Hey, did he get it done? Not only did he get it done, that was, you know, that was just, that was magical for him. You know, what a confidence booster, you know, what a, what a, adder boy. When you get to that side life from Uncle Vic. So yeah, you got my beef for the week. It was a, it was a beautiful beefy play because Jalen Carter helped Jailix get the
Starting point is 00:55:00 beef of the week honor by real, like Carson Wednesdays is going. going to be feeling that hit on Wednesday still. Jalen Carter jacked his ass up. So that was an incredible beefy play. And listen, uh, as, as Brian Baldinger talked about on Cousa's show this week, as we've talked like Jalen Carter has not had no an impactful season so far. And that was probably the biggest impact play he's made this year. Absolutely. So just a good all-around play. Congrats on the beef of the week honor. I mean, I think we got to get them like a little meat stick trophy. We can send E.J. down with the, you know, the beef stick trophy every week. I'm sure these guys are honored.
Starting point is 00:55:36 Make E.J. going to the locker room and tap them on the shoulder and go, Meep for the week. Beful the week. So, congratulations. Mr. Jay, what an honor. Would you guys like to hear some snap count? I think my cow impression got some love in the chair. Yeah, and I'm curious to see how many snaps, Jordan Davis,
Starting point is 00:55:58 please. Okay, well, I'll tell you. 67 total snaps on defense, according to true media. all of them played by Zach Bond, Reed Blankenship, Cooper de Jeanne, Coonionn Mitchell, and Andrew McCuba. Uh, McCuba, nice play on the interception.
Starting point is 00:56:16 I would like to see him not miss that tackle on Justin Jefferson on the 40-yarder. Yeah, that was, that was... At least force him inside, right? Yeah. You can't, I mean, he dove it like his knees kind of. It was just like... Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:28 It was a bad effort. I'm sure he wants that one back. Vinny, 65. of 67 snaps for Jalen Carter, who was questionable coming into this game. 65 of 67 snaps. Wow. How are you feeling after 65 snaps, Vinnie?
Starting point is 00:56:45 No, listen, I'm glad to see him toughed out. And he has some plays. Yeah, definitely have some flashes in this game that definitely elevated and we took advantage of. What did his counterpart have? What did Jordan Davis have? We'll get there. Well, I'll just tell you.
Starting point is 00:57:02 He had 43. Pretty good. That is pretty good. It's a lot of snaps. So Jahad Campbell was next with 58 of 67. 51 for Jalek's Hunt. That's a lot of snaps for him. 43, as we said, for Jordan Davis.
Starting point is 00:57:14 And he go down to 33 for Ushay, 30 for Ojamo. 29 snaps for Nkobi Dean in this game. 25 snaps for Patrick Johnson, which is a lot of snaps for Patrick Johnson. 23 for Dori Jackson, who left this game with what looked like a concussion. A bit of a scary scene there. and that meant that 22 snaps were played by Keeley Ringo, 12 for Byron Young, two for Ty Robertson,
Starting point is 00:57:38 only four for Aziz O'Jolari, and one for Perry Nickerson. What did you think of that Perry Nickerson snap? It was very exciting. Good for him. Yeah. That would have been in dime. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:53 Everybody. We just put out a clip of Devante Smith talking in the locker room after the game, captured by E.J. And he said that the offense, Bo still has room to grow and improve even after today's win. I'd love to hear that. Well, I would agree with that. I mean, you should get the running game going a little bit.
Starting point is 00:58:13 Got to. We got to. I'm missing. Say, whoa. Yeah, we haven't. And shout out to the supporters club. I saw some of the emojis flying around here earlier. If you want to become a supporter here at PHLY, it's very easy to do.
Starting point is 00:58:25 You get the custom emojis, the behind the scenes content. And Vinny, I feel like we're slackened and missing on the Sequans. I'm telling you, I, listen, O'Line, we just got to get healthy. Yeah, Juergens, leaves my boys. Juergens is beat up, man. I was Dickerson. Yes, I was Dickerson. There was my loss, so was Lane.
Starting point is 00:58:45 And let me tell you something, them's some tough, tough, tough SOBs, you know what I'm saying? So, you know, they must be really hurt. Exactly. So, you know, we just got to get them back healthy, you know. First, you know, they had to handle business, 26. But, you know, hopefully you will come back. that, they get all healthy and healed up and ready to go on the stretch. Can we talk about the elephant in the room and it's Tooth?
Starting point is 00:59:10 What is going on here? He's the backup center? Well, Drew Kendall was inactive for this game. Who they drafted to eventually be the backup center. Yeah, I mean, Toeuf is the backup center. He's the backup left guard and he's the backup center. Designated. Cool.
Starting point is 00:59:33 I feel bad for the game. guy. I mean, it is what it is, but, you know, I've seen a little too much Brett Tooth this year. It's an observation. Yeah. I think, I think if you had Howie Roseman truth serum, I think he would, he would say that he probably wished that he addressed the offensive line a little bit more in the offseason. Dylan McMahon. Yeah. Well, our officer line was, you know, we, I just, I didn't see all these injuries coming. They're beat up. But they played a lot of snaps last year. My lot of said. Credit to E.J. who we're going to hear from
Starting point is 01:00:10 in just a little bit and he was in the locker room so he was going to have plenty to tell us from there. You know, he called out and some of the guys talked to him and agreed with him that like even like maybe the tush pushes have had sort of a lasting impact on just how healthy those guys are. I mean, my allotta said on the radio that this was
Starting point is 01:00:27 the hardest off season he had in recovery and just feeling normal again. He said usually it's like a week or two after the year. He starts feeling like himself again. And he said it was like months this off season. So I think there's validity to that. I will give you the offensive snap counts and then we'll hear from Devante Smith.
Starting point is 01:00:43 Cool. How's that sound? 49 snaps, all of them played by Lane Johnson, Jordan Milana, Jalen Hertz, Landon Dickerson, and Tyler Steen. This all, of course, courtesy of true media. 48 from Dallas Goddard. 45 from A.J. Brown. 43 from Devante Smith.
Starting point is 01:00:59 38 from Sequin Barkley. 34 from Brett Tooth. 24 from Jahan Dotson. 17 from Kyle and Granson. 15 from Cam Jurgens. Nine from Fred Johnson. That's a nice little sign of those six offensive line. There's nine of those plays?
Starting point is 01:01:14 Yeah, unless although maybe a few of them came at the, maybe three of them came at the end of the game. Yeah, yeah. Three or sorry, eight from Will Shipley. Five from E.J. Jenkins. Four from Tank Bigsby. Three from Cameron Latu. And of course, on the final play of the game,
Starting point is 01:01:28 one from Cooper to Jean. Love that. Yeah. I think he's lined up way in the backfield. They fumble the ball. Victive formation. Yeah. I think he's probably the right good at there.
Starting point is 01:01:39 He had a crazy play too, especially on that side line. Look, the lane was open on that toss and he just come through out of nowhere. Woof. He's good. Like, he doesn't miss tackles. He is just a solid football player. I think there's a case to be made that he's the best player on the defense. Wow.
Starting point is 01:02:00 On a defense with Jalen Carter, Quinion Mitchell, and Zach Bonn. I don't know. Do you want to make the case or you just say, there is a case to be made. I think that... Let's get this take out of you. If I was really pushed, I would probably still say,
Starting point is 01:02:19 if you're comparing them to everybody else at their position in the league, I would probably still say Zach Bonn. Right. I think Zach Bond is probably, now that Fred Warren is injured, probably the best linebacker in football. And I think he's been not quite at the level
Starting point is 01:02:36 he was the first four or five games over the past couple games, but I think he's still very good. I think if that's the same metric, how do they rank against everybody else? I think I would put Cooper to shoot number two. Wow. Some Quignon Arracier there by Mr. Wolf.
Starting point is 01:02:51 Queenian's been good. Yeah. Jalen Carter, I mean, Jalen Carter this year hasn't been what we... Yeah, Jalen Carter this year. Last year, I think it was Jalen Carter. Yeah. I mean, I'm not going to, like, fight you on that one.
Starting point is 01:03:05 I don't know. I think Quinn... I mean, it's a great problem. It's a great discussion because Quinyon's awesome. Cooper DeGine is awesome. I think you're right. Zach Bonn is probably the best compared to a position around the league. That's an interesting thought.
Starting point is 01:03:20 What do you think, Vinnie? I like all four. I like all four. I just think, listen, Janet Carter, listen, he'll get there. The first time that he actually, there's no middle wings, you know. Sure. There's, you know, the guys, you know, I mean,
Starting point is 01:03:44 he's probably getting all slide calls, all the double teams, you know. He has to address the other guys next to him. Like we see a drummer today with a sack. We got to adjust the guys next to him to win a one-on-one matchups. So therefore, you can't just move everybody to one guy to the red shop. All right, we have a little taste of the locker. And before we get to E.J. Smith, and that is Devante Smith. and what he said after his big day.
Starting point is 01:04:16 It was all that matter of time, but, you know, it's still things that we can grow in certain areas. Still some things that we left out there that we didn't get, you know, get a chance to capitalize on. So it continued to take away, but we continue to grow. Do you feel like the offense is starting to figure out some of the stuff that it can lean on, though? I would say we still working on them.
Starting point is 01:04:34 Like, like, you said, you know, right game. It wasn't, you know, that effective today. We had some big head. and then, you know, we had some of them that lost a lot. So it's just about finding that balance. Today, you know, doing the things that we did just allowed us to, you know, open up the past game of the board. The San Francisco Giant Lid on Devante.
Starting point is 01:04:55 He went dressed down mode because normally he's to the nines. Yeah. He likes to mix it up a little bit. Yeah. Yeah. Well, listen. What a game. What a way to be back in the W column.
Starting point is 01:05:10 Yeah. And then you have. Giants coming into Philadelphia For a revenge game I love it Well would you be surprised to learn Vinnie That the Giants in Denver Right now
Starting point is 01:05:22 Are leading? Up 13-0 Nothing Jackson Darts got the juice Like I hate to say But that kid's a little bit of a baller I said you know We all you know
Starting point is 01:05:34 That's good Yeah I agree If they beat the Broncos That's perfect scenario Just understand When they come to To Philadelphia
Starting point is 01:05:43 I just all I want to hear is Devon get the tables You know You know Because we all know how we all was feeling you know last week You back in the women column And the only thing that would make things great Is beating the Giants here And Philadelphia
Starting point is 01:05:58 I agree with that Hey what do you guys make his special teams Jake Elliott misses his first field goal Of the season I think that's fine I mean Yeah it was a lot of chaos going on And I think it was a lot of chaos going on
Starting point is 01:06:10 For that I think the timing of the snap And him was off. I think he was trying to catch them in substitution mode. And it just didn't... It's his first miss kick of the year. I think, you know, you can't kill the guy for that.
Starting point is 01:06:25 It was nice to see the kickoff return game actually get the ball to the 30-yard line in this game was Xavier Gibson. That was nice. That was nice. And then Braden Mann, who continues to... He can boom the ball, but anytime they've got a short field,
Starting point is 01:06:38 he just puns it into the end zone. I mean, let's work on our direction. directional kicking. I don't want to be the bad guy, but come on. Who agrees with me in the chat? We need to improve the short side punt game. Got to have something. Enough is enough.
Starting point is 01:06:58 Got to get more air on it, you think? Yeah, or kicking out of bounds. I don't know. Can't be having a 30-yard punt. Oh, my God. Right? Hit the thumbs up for Bo. Give him some support here.

All right. Now, joining us on the Xfinity Mobile call-in line live from the site. of I would imagine one of the most memorable nights of your life, Vinny Curry. Oh, in the coldest night of my. The coldest.
Starting point is 01:10:22 It was one of those. You got there, you had a little, uh, fraud chips on your damn big. But the greatest party I haven't been to in my life as well. Yeah? Who performed at that?
Starting point is 01:10:33 Did you guys have a musical act? Oh, man, did we? Was it Cardi B? Or Nicky Minaj? Amosal Cardi B and though? But I have, I have a video on my phone. You know, we broke the stage.
Starting point is 01:10:47 Oh, I did know that. We broke the stage. That's how many people were jumping around, bro. We broke the stage. And I was so excited. My suit ripped right down the... Now that's a party. Oh, man, what a day.
Starting point is 01:11:03 E.J. Pulled to Lenny Kravitz. All right. Ladies and gentlemen, there he is. Everybody goes inside. E.J. Smith, E. J. Great.
Starting point is 01:11:10 What a shot you've got there. Beautiful stadium. Yeah, listen, I figured I should do this for Vinny, like you said, brings back some memory. And while I was setting up the shot, I see Nick Siriani walking across the field playing some air guitar. So I think that's a, that pretty much sums it up, you know, about the energy around the Eagles right now. Now is that the, is that the Philly Special End Zone? Do you know or is that the other one? Or is that the Zachert's touchdown end zone?
Starting point is 01:11:36 I would think that this was the Zachert's touchdown end zone. But I have to be honest. I'm not positive about that. Well, I can tell you, from the press box, is this from the press box to the right or to the left? The press box is on the far side. It'd be all the way. Oh, I forgot my cameras. Oh, so that's the Phillies specialized zone.
Starting point is 01:11:55 Okay. Yeah. So it's probably right over there. Now, what are you using right now? Yeah. How was your camera moving, E.J. What kind of magic you work in here? I don't know.
Starting point is 01:12:05 You upgraded your iPhone. You got the iPhone 17. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Oh, really? Yeah. Is that PHLW money?
Starting point is 01:12:14 Oh. Flex. That is very cool. All right. I didn't know it did this. E.J. Yeah, it feels like you've got your own camera. Yeah, the little...
Starting point is 01:12:27 I love that. Okay. What was the mood like? We keep asking you about the mood in the locker room after these brutal losses and these wins that feel like losses. But I think this game, they deserve to have a little bit more chest puffiness. what was it like? Yeah, I mean, before the players even got into the locker room,
Starting point is 01:12:46 you could kind of feel like the weight was lifted. Jalen Hertz talking to Howie Roseman on the way into the locker room said, we're not FN losing anymore. So I definitely think that this was, yeah, yeah, no, I think that this was an important step is what you heard from a lot of players in the locker room. And, you know, just like the way the offense looked, obviously some things to clean up. But I think they felt like they started to move in the right direction offensively.
Starting point is 01:13:11 and then, you know, I mostly heard from offensive players, but I think the defensive players, you know, were pretty happy about the performance as well, especially those red zone stops that, you know, kind of kept the Eagles on top for most of the game. Man, I really like that. I really like that hurts Howie moment. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:13:30 I mean. EJ, did you agree? It was just a lot of sense of urgency out there today. And we haven't seen that in a while. Yeah, no, I think that they really, they were prioritizing an energy. shift is what you heard a lot of guys talking about. And, you know, I found it interesting that these guys, Devante talked about this,
Starting point is 01:13:48 Sequin talked about this, like, not being prisoners of the expectations anymore. You know, I think that that was something that, you know, you really felt. Like, you guys have asked me about locker rooms in the past, you know, past month or so. And how I've, I come here and I tell you, like, actually, they won the game, but they, they didn't seem happy. They seemed frustrated by the performance. And I think there was a real emphasis this week to kind of get away from that, to be, you know, a little bit less, again, be less of a prisoner to the expectations.
Starting point is 01:14:14 And I think it maybe is a product of how many Alabama and Georgia guys that they have that sometimes like the standard becomes more important than winning. And I think it was interesting that even Sequan Barkley talked about this. You know, the run game obviously wasn't great in this game. But Seekwon said like they won the game and that is what's more important than the way that the run game looks. So definitely an energy shift. And I think that that does speak to the sense of urgency they had coming into this game.
Starting point is 01:14:39 All right. Now let's talk about the receivers because you had a very interesting interview with AJ Brown on Friday, which people can read about on all phtly.com. But you also talked to Devante after this game, one of the best games of his career. And there's a little bit of an interesting nugget to the long touchdown. Yeah. So Devante called it called a shot there. Devante said that this 79-yard touchdown, the play that they ran, the under center play
Starting point is 01:15:04 play action, he said that was open all game. The way that the Vikings were responding to Fred Johnson, on the field, the six offensive linemen, you know, that heavy package. The Vikings had a certain look at with that. It seems like, you know, I'm sure Fran will do a better job, breaking it down that I will without having watched it back. But, you know, like they were loading up the line of scrimmage. Devante said the middle, the deep middle of the field was open as a result.
Starting point is 01:15:25 And Devante went in at halftime and was pretty demonstrative, apparently, about like, this play is open. We need to call it. We need to run this play because it's going to hit. And Jordan Miletus said that, you know, he, that Devante went over to Landon to talk about the front that the Vikings were playing again. those looks and that Jordan went up to Devante after the touchdown and said, hey, you called your shot. So yeah, there were a few players talked about this being something that Devante Smith
Starting point is 01:15:49 pushed for. I think Nick, from what I heard from other reporters, Nick said that it was a half-time adjustment. And I think it was one spark by Devante Smith advocating for it. Oh, so much for halftime doesn't mean anything. I like that. Yeah. I mean, maybe it does when Devante Smith is, he said he said, you know, he said, you know, we were like, well, who you talked to Kevin Petullo. He talked to Nakey said, I talked to everybody about it. What did you make of of it felt like the game playing this week was, okay, let's add some under center. Let's add some under center play action.
Starting point is 01:16:20 What did you make of the importance of that in this game? Yeah, I think that this is probably the beginning of the Eagles trying to figure out how to make teams pay for selling out to stop the run. Listen, we can talk about why it took six and a half games for them to get to this point. But, you know, I think it's something that players are, we're advocating for it's obviously it obviously was a big priority coming into the game even i just left jalen hertz's press conference and he said it was something that he talked to he i think he said you know he advocated for it with kevin petulow nick syriani on the other end of the mini buy so i think
Starting point is 01:16:53 what we're starting to see like i said is i'm starting to find more balance um and trying to figure out ways to alleviate the fact that teams are selling out to stop the run they're being created to stop the run so again i don't want to like absolve the eagles run game here too much because it's like even sequan Barkley said, like, you know, teams are trying to stop them last year in the run game, too. It's not like this is a new phenomenon. But I do think that the past game, the undercenter play action in general, especially was punishing the Vikings for being aggressive against the run against those under center, under center looks. Jalen, given the demonstrative interaction with Howie, what did you see from him,
Starting point is 01:17:30 hear from him in the press conference? And did that also carry over into what you saw on the field being in the stadium? Yeah, well, he credited his teammates afterward. He didn't seem like interested in taking very much credit for himself. But, you know, Jordan Milata said afterward that Jalen was from the time he threw the touchdown to Devante up until the dagger late to AJ Brown on that third down completion. He said that you could tell that Jalen had a little bit more energy, a little bit more demonstrative. And honestly, that made me think back to something Jalen said a few weeks ago about how he's
Starting point is 01:18:01 talked every year about how each year the team requires something different from him. and he has been, I think making a concerted effort to be more demonstrative on the sideline, kind of give the team a little bit more energy. I think we really saw that in the second half against the Vikings. I think, you know, from what we heard from Jordan Milata just now, like that was maybe something that Jaylor had made a point of doing, you know, being a little bit more outward with his teammates on the sideline and on the field. And I don't know. I mean, it seems like the team has responded to that.
Starting point is 01:18:26 So, you know, again, I think like there was a lot made of certain aspects of the mini-buy, but I do think it gave them a chance to reset and maybe reevaluate some things that we did see manifest themselves against the Vikings. How do you think he felt, given the way he ended up playing in the second half, about Nick Siriana giving up at the end of the first half?
Starting point is 01:18:48 I listened to you guys on that one. I mean, listen, like, you see what this offense is capable of. Like, there was that long third down, completion AJ Brown on a scramble drawer where he just comes back to the ball. Obviously, like, you've got incredible players. So I completely agreed with you guys.
Starting point is 01:19:03 And I'm sure like truth serum, if you ask Jalen, he believes he can make that play. So obviously we don't know. But again, I do think that there was evidence today as the passing game started to take some steps in the right direction, that this is an offense capable of getting 20 yards in a chunk play, even if it's something like silly, like an illegal, you know, illegal, a legal motion or not illegal motion, but you know what I mean? Like defensive pass interference, it's something illegal use of hands. There's ways that they can move the ball down the field with how much talent they have.
Starting point is 01:19:31 I definitely feel like Jalen would suggest that, again, with the truth serum probably. E.J. I want to run Boa's workshop and a little bit of a take earlier, and I'm curious your opinion on this. He said that there's a case to make that Cooper Dijin, comparative to his position around the league, could be the Eagles best defensive player this year. What are your thoughts? It's an interesting one because of how versatile he is, what they're able to do because they have guys like Cooper Degene. And honestly, I would even throw like Jehad Campbell and Jalick's hunt into that this week. You know, the versatility that they had really showed up on defense. But specifically with Cooper, that that rep against Justin Jefferson on that fade route
Starting point is 01:20:11 at the end. Might to save the game. That is one. Yeah. And that is one where you're just like, man, those are just two incredible football players going at each other. Like, you know, that is, you know, that's an impressive, an impress as an impressive rep as you'd expect. And it came at outside corner because they were in base defense.
Starting point is 01:20:25 So, no, I think what he affords them, the versatility and the flexibility that you can make an argument. I mean, at the very least, like, you know, you put them up there with the, this is lofty company too, so maybe I'm workshopping at take too. But like you put them up there with like the Kyle Hamilton tier of defensive player that because they can play so many different positions, their value kind of exceeds what their position normally would suggest that they could because of, you know, Cooper to Gene can play three or four spots. I mean, you could put them at edge rusher in this defense right now and probably get good snaps. So, yeah. I feel like Coop need a t-shirt that's a duck no smoke.
Starting point is 01:21:00 Ooh, I like that. I mean, somebody in the chat said it, he's such a good tackler. He honestly might be one of the best just pure tacklers. I've seen in an Eagles uniform in a long, long time. I mean, he fundamentally changed the Eagles defense from the minute he got in last year, just because of that fact, James, like, you know, the fact that he, duck no smoke. I mean, we have, we can pull these level. Like, you know, it's a whole, yeah.
Starting point is 01:21:24 We, we have people for this, you know, I think we can get, I can run this by the art department. E.J. For those of you, not on social media, our Eagles insider here, E.J. Smith, broke some news beating the likes of Adam Schaefter. Did you roll back the tape on that one? This morning. What was the news you broke, E.J.?
Starting point is 01:21:49 And did you get any reaction to it in the locker room today? Yeah. So Brandon Graham, considering returning to the Eagles, I would say there's momentum. moving toward this happening in the near future. You know, talking to guys in the locker room, Jordan Milata tried to play dumb on it and was eventually talking about the fact that Jordan,
Starting point is 01:22:09 that Brandon Graham is, he called him OG and said that, you know, he's a big presence in the locker room. And I think that a lot of these guys would be happy to see him come back, especially you see Aziz O'Jolari comes out of this game with an injury. So they have a need for him on the field. I think they actually, you know, there's a Brandon Graham-sized hole in the locker room just because of the impact that he has. you know, he's not really a replaceable figure in that locker room.
Starting point is 01:22:30 So I think, you know, even off the field, the intangibles that he's going to offer are really big. But honestly, first and foremost, they could use him on the edge, you know, like the Jahad Campbell experiment on the edge. I think it's a credit to him that he can play those different positions, but I just don't think you want him there on early down. I just don't even think it's an indictment on him. I just think you look at him as a player. He's an athletic, lean offball linebacker that you're asking to play edge rush or snaps. I think if you told me that Brandon Graham was out there for some of those, I feel a lot better. about this Eagles defense.
Starting point is 01:22:59 Is Vinnie Curry far behind? What do you think, Vinny? Hey, Vinny. Vinny looks like you could still play. Looking like and actually doing something is two different things. I love my hamstrings. I listen, I left it all out there. I ain't got nothing else to give.
Starting point is 01:23:18 Vinny. But a couple claps and a sequo. Well, I've reached the stage of wash where I'm packing a foldable yoga mat in my carry-on suitcase so that I can stretch before the game. Really? So, yeah, I mean.
Starting point is 01:23:35 How small does that get? It gets, I mean, it gets small enough that it takes up very little in my suitcase. I just stuff stuff. I put stuff on top of it. And now I don't have to do these like hip openers while I'm talking to you guys. So it worked out perfect. You got to know yourself. You got to know when it's time to get the yoga mat in the suitcase.
Starting point is 01:23:51 Why do you? Why do you need the mat? Yeah, why do you need the mat? I don't want to lay on the hotel floor I'd rather lay on the yoga mat Okay Yeah I don't blame you because I Holds on the floor
Starting point is 01:24:05 Let me be honest I hate putting my bare feet On the damn hotel floor Yeah Yep see see yeah I completely agree Vinny You gotta like all do respect Give me the hardwood
Starting point is 01:24:15 Yeah give me a hotel with a hardwood floor So that I don't have to worry about Like what's on this carpet Yeah well you're that boozy over here Yeah exactly what you think is exactly what the hell I'd be thinking out there. It's like, oh. That floor's seen some stuff. Yeah, yeah, exactly. That's what?
Starting point is 01:24:33 That's enough. No, my. No, that's what I'm here. We're 90 minutes in. Let's get to me. I don't know. Listen, bro, that's one of the reasons why it's hard for me to sleep in
Starting point is 01:24:44 hotels at AC. Can you imagine if those walls and the floor could talk? Yeah. Yeah. Better not to know. You don't want the blind house. in that situation. All right.
Starting point is 01:25:01 Julie is in the chat. She said, reasonable, E.J. She brings slippers to her hotel rooms. This is, okay, it's OJ. I see you in the chat now. It's OJ.
Starting point is 01:25:09 Okay, cool. Cool. Yeah. All right. E.J., any final thoughts? No, I think this was an important, an important win for the Eagles. You know, I think not only the intangible,
Starting point is 01:25:23 like responding to adversity, but just seeing, there was, especially that one drive in the second, second half. It felt like the Eagles passing game needed that drive. There was under center play action. It was the one where they threw the post to AJ for the touchdown. It's like an in-rhythm, you know, timing throw from Jalen Hertz to AJ Brown. Obviously an undercenter play action call. It was a 20, I think it was 20 plus yarder to Devante Smith. You just, you feel like they're starting to find answers. They're starting to figure out which levers they can pull to kind of drag them
Starting point is 01:25:50 through games. That's really important. You know, I think that that is going to open, inherently open up things in the run game, especially the under center game. I think that this is going to. going to be something we see from the Eagles moving forward. Last thing, E.J., is that last possession. Did Nick talk about his decision-making to trust Jailen Hertz to throw the ball there as opposed to just, you know, wasting the timeouts and trusting the defense? So I wasn't in on Nick. I was listening, I was interviewing Devante while Nick went.
Starting point is 01:26:18 But I do feel like we've seen the track record of the Eagles, like, and the receivers talk a lot about this. Like, you know, they don't get many opportunities one-on-one on the first. perimeter, especially on vertical routes like that. And we've seen the Eagles, they almost have a track record now of taking those shots in those moments because they, I mean, especially you think about the way the run game was, like you feel really good about Devante Smith and AJ Brown one-on-one down the sideline if you know it's going to be man coverage like it, like it is in those situations. So I think that that's, I mean, I actually think it's a good call. It's obviously an aggressive call, but one that if you, if you, I mean, you know, we didn't hear from AJ Brown after this game, but that's like the let you're like we're takers. We takeers. We take. take what we want. You know, let your killers do the work. That feels like a good example of that to me.
Starting point is 01:27:03 And it's something that, you know, I think that a lot of us have been saying, like the Eagles should be doing more of. So, you know, you tip your cap for him to call him there. I thought,
Starting point is 01:27:10 like, did you guys talk much about like Kevin Batool? I feel like this is a, this was a much better, you know, flow of a game for Kevin Battoll. Obviously that first half was shaky, but that second half,
Starting point is 01:27:19 it felt like the offense really did find some answers. I think that's fair. Now, you know, the people in the chat who are predisposed to hating everything about Kevin Petulow are saying, well, of course, of course, the best play came from Devante Smith
Starting point is 01:27:32 and not and not Petulow, which maybe there's a little bit of truth to that. But yeah, I think in this game. But you give him credit for listening, right? You give him credit for taking the feedback and going with it. Exactly. Yeah. All right. Last thing. Last thing. One one more quick thing. Lane Johnson did not speak after the game because I think he felt like the message that he was trying, he's trying to get across to that. He felt like his comments after the Giants game maybe had a ripple effect through the locker room and had a negative impact on the team.
Starting point is 01:28:04 So we did not hear from Lane Johnson afterward. Interesting. Huh. That means he has to talk. I think it was in the spirit of not trying to, you know, not trying to affect the team with what he said. Well, he spoke the truth.
Starting point is 01:28:21 Yeah, maybe he's the one who deserves credit. Yeah, maybe. E.J. Smith, Arrigo's Insider. Thank you very much. Safe travels tomorrow. We'll see you on Tuesday on the PHY Eagle Show. Your home save, E. All right, Jay. Thank you very much, E.J. All right.
Starting point is 01:28:34 Final thoughts, Fini Curry on the Eagles moving to five and two with a 28 to 22 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. I've never been more excited in my life for a win and a chance to get paid back on the Jones. That's my final thought. They're coming here next Sunday. One o'clock. Jamie, how about you? just we need to coordinate our our pants next I think all three of us need to go with the the viny pants I got the same bear yeah I hope we wear all black I like I mean what a what a win because I really
Starting point is 01:29:11 feared if that locker room lost what was going to happen to this direction of this team so I just think this was a monumentally huge victory and it was nice to kind of have an offensive passing game explosion in the victory it was kind of like a perfect scenario today defense played pretty well made some game-changing plays Devante and AJ had a day so they're feeling good 55 is going to be back in that locker room farting and laughing all over the place so it feels like the vibes are getting
Starting point is 01:29:41 are snowballing in a positive direction now yes I think we will remember this as one of the best games of Jillen Hertz's career I think you know the touchdown pass to AJ the second one is one that we will I think keep an eye on because we know he can make those throws on the outside. And I don't think every defense is going to give him as many opportunities as this defense is good because they played so much single high.
Starting point is 01:30:05 But him making that throw down the seam, taking advantage of some stuff in the middle of the field, that's the kind of stuff that's going to open up this offense to, I think, really become good if they're going to. Yeah, you know, there's very real scenarios where they get on track. And, Jamie, before the game, we were talking about this is how I felt like more curious about what the Eagles were going to do in this game and any other game this season, just coming off of those two losses,
Starting point is 01:30:29 to see them come out and play with that energy on offense. I think the defense has a lot to work on, and so does the running game. Sure. But it sort of tells you that as long as the passing game is like this, the Eagles will be in good shape. Absolutely. And then, you know, once the office line get back healthy,
Starting point is 01:30:46 we hopefully would be here some... Say, whoa! There we go. You want some around the... Before we get out of here, giant still up, 13, nothing at the half. Cowboys, which is a big one in the NFC East, are up 20 to 8 on the commanders.
Starting point is 01:30:59 And that is going into half short. And how about the Packers in Arizona? Packers are down, 13 to 6 to the Cardinals. Colts continue to be a wagon, throttling the Chargers, 23 to 3. Wow, stiking. Danny Dimes.
Starting point is 01:31:18 Interesting. All right. Well, that will do it for the P.H.O.I. Eagles postgame show. Thank you, Tyler. Lindsay, behind the scenes, thank you to Fran Duffy. Thank you to E.J. Smith. Thank you to all of you in the chat. Wait, do we have any super chats we missed?
Starting point is 01:31:32 Yes, we do. Oh, wow. A bunch of them. No, only one. Jack, should stout be talked about more. Read the run game, woes. I do feel like that is unfair because we've seen the track record for so long. It feels like he can't be the reason.
Starting point is 01:31:49 And we've seen the surgeries. I mean, Landon had surgery, Juergens had surgery, Lanes missed a game and a half now already. He's, you know, unfortunately, probably getting near the end. So, like, there is health concerns with the line. Yes, all right. Thank you very much, Jack. If this is your first time joining us,
Starting point is 01:32:04 you should know that we are live every weekday at 2 o'clock. Brand Duffy breaking down the film tomorrow. We'll have E.J. Smith and Brandon Graham on the show on Tuesday. And, of course, don't miss Brandon Graham unblocked this week. Should be a very interesting episode. That should be an interesting one, shouldn't it? So for Vinny Curry and Jamie Lynch, Wolf, we thank you for watching and listening. We'll talk to you tomorrow. And as always, we love.
