The first day of Eagles practices in the books.
And boy, do we have a lot to tell you.
Jahad Campbell is out there.
Andrew McCuba, Keeley-Ringo are doing stuff.
Cooper de Jeanne at Safety.
We heard from A.J. Brown.
Howie Roseman, Nick Siriani, Sequin, Barclay, Jailen Hertz.
Zach Berman's here.
We're going to talk to Mina Kimes.
It's an overload.
Join us.
We start now.
The P.H.Y. Eagles show presented by our good friends at Do Dad Dental
and True Mark Financial, Bo-Wolf.
Zach Berman here.
and listen, it's been like months of just making stuff up to talk about.
And now we've got some real stuff to talk about.
The first day of Eagles training camp is in the books.
We've got a lot to tell you about depth chart machinations.
Who's practicing where?
We've got a big surprise with the first round pick.
We're going to talk to Mina Kimes in the B-block.
We talk to A.J. Brown and Nick Siriani and Jalen Hertz.
All kinds of stuff to talk about, Zach.
must be a kid in a candy store. How you doing? Yeah, first day of school. I always looked forward
to the first day of school. I got to see Julia. So, HZ, with an early appearance on this very
important Wednesday. That was a compliment to our head of production. So yeah, no, I always look forward
to the first day of camp. And it's always good when there's little news on the first day of camp.
And we had that today. Let's get right into it, Zach, because I think this was, you know, if you are an
Eagles fan. And you've been, you maybe have tuned out for most of the summer. You're just coming back
for, insulted. We did shows every day. Well, there are, these people exist. We need to, we need to open up
the tent, Zach. We can't just talk to the sickos. And I think you might be surprised because if you
last checked, all expectations were Jahad Campbell's probably not even going to be ready to
necessarily play the start of the season. This is a guy who fell in the draft because of these injury
concerns. Vic Fangio said in the spring, he wasn't going to practice until August. And then
surprised before practice. We talked to
Howie Roseman, and he says
the only person on PUP
is Nikobi Dean, everybody else
is going to be out there. And we're like,
okay, well, I mean, maybe Jehad Campbell's
going to be like practicing off to the side or whatever.
He was out there full board, practicing
in team. Yeah, that's why the follow-off is
wait, Jahad Campbell is going to be
practicing. And yeah, Jehad Campbell, now
they're like transitioning him back
in, so yeah, he was out there in team.
He's not like with the first team defense yet, right?
And so. Which were you not expect?
Sure.
And we should also say that this was a practice in shells.
Yes.
No pads today.
So we'll see if they do anything different with pads.
But go ahead.
But this is a great sign for the Eagles.
Because as we discussed yesterday when Jihad Campbell was one of the 20 players, the when was important because the when would really determine what that week one role is going to be.
Now I got to think he's going to be in the starting lineup week one.
Barring a setback injury-wise, I just think that.
they're like the stage is set for him now.
Truly there was not a single better piece of information the Eagles could have gotten today.
Exactly.
On the first day of training camp than Jihad Campbell being this ahead of schedule.
Yeah, it's it's the headline.
It's the biggest story.
And so that's a good sign.
And then also like some of these players coming off injuries are not on pub either.
You know, the only player on on pup like you mentioned was Nicopi Dean.
But, you know, Cam Juergens, Nolan Smith.
I mean, these guys aren't starting the summer on Pupp either.
So this is a relatively healthy roster.
I know Jalen Carter did not practice, but...
Nor Kenyon Green.
Nor Kenyon Green.
But it sounds like, well, by definition of them not being on the NFI list or Pupp,
these aren't injuries that are keeping them like long term out.
So this was a good day for the Eagles by virtue of that Jehahad Campbell news.
Now let's stick on Campbell here because this is obviously hugely,
important. So for today, it was still just Jeremiah Trada Jr. working with Zach Bonn as the first team
linebacker. Jehide Campbell was working mostly with Smile Mondin as the second team linebacker.
I thought it looked great. I mean, for one practice, you know, you can tell that he moves differently.
There was one play in particular that is already a snapshot in my brain. Danny Gray, it's twos against
twos is coming across the field. And Danny Gray has a little bit of juice. He's made some plays in the
three. Four, a 40 guy. You told him.
us last fall that, you know, he was the guy on the practice squad who was opening some eyes.
And he comes into Jahad Campbell's zone. He's got a pattern match and pick him up. And just with ease
breaks up the pass and is like fully there with him athletically. And so there's a long way
to go for him to prove to Vic Fangio that he's going to know where to be in all the right
situations. But you even saw him sort of hanging around the edge a little bit too. Again, this is this is as
good of tangible football news as Eagles fans could have gotten today.
Yeah, I like the analysis there.
And just to add to it, what stands out when you watch him to is the length, right?
Like he just, he looks different than a lot of linebackers do.
It's almost like Tremade Edmunds like in terms of the length out there.
That's who comes to mind.
So, yeah, I mean, I look, it was one practice in shorts and shells, like you said.
but so I can't tell you
he's going to be a difference maker for them at linebacker.
I just think at this point
it's a disappointment if he's not starting at linebacker
unless there's a setback.
And I think back to some of the shows with Fran post-draft
when I said,
I asked Fran is the concern in NFL circles
like when he returns or that this is...
The longevity.
Yeah, the longevity.
And he said it was both, right?
Yeah.
And so, but if the concern was the when he returns,
then this is a clear boon for the Eagles.
And it's similar even to Landon Dickerson.
right, who fell in the draft coming off that torn ACL.
And then he was starting.
But he was starting for the Eagles by week two.
Right, because somebody got injured.
Yes, yes.
But my point being is that like if you're not focused on art,
you're getting the optimum health today.
Right.
That's a good sign.
Now let's talk about how things have changed here.
You said it would be a disappointment if he's not starting week one.
I think I probably agree with that.
Just in terms of like the how much the needle has moved yesterday,
you would have put his turkeys at starting in week one as what?
I would say 50-50 yesterday.
And what was it today?
90-10.
I think that's about right.
Yeah.
So yeah, I mean,
I think that it's possible that it's going to be something where,
and obviously we will follow this over the course of the next month plus,
but it could be something where there are certain packages.
Maybe Jeremiah Trader Jr. is involved in the defense somehow.
But yes, I mean, this is absolutely good news for the Eagles.
Agreed.
Okay, let's move on from Jehide Campbell.
The number two person I want to talk about today,
Keely Ringo.
Oh, okay.
I thought, okay.
Who did you think I was going to go with?
Cooper DeGine.
Cooper, Jean.
That's my number three.
Let's go to Keely Ringo number two.
Now, the position battle at corner opposite Quinead Mitchell.
And I don't give it a specific because right now,
Quigna Mitchellon Mitchell is at left corner and Keely Ringo and Adore Jackson,
when they're with the ones are rotating at right corner.
But when they're with the twos,
Kili goes to the left side.
So I think that this is actually a nice situation for Vic Fangio
where he is not only evaluating who deserves to be on the field
between Keely Ringo and Adori Jackson,
but he's also evaluating, okay, if it's Keel Ringo,
who should be on which side between him and Quignan Mitchell?
Keel Ringo got the first crack at right corner today,
but they rotated him and Adori Jackson every other period.
So the good news is Keel Ringo got the first crack.
Yes.
We will talk about Cooper DeGine and where he was practicing in the base.
I think you could make a case with that was also good news
for Kele Ringo. The bad news is that Keelringo had a tough day today. Yeah, twice he got beat deep.
Yes. Once, with the twos, Terrace Marshall beats him deep on a nice throw from Tanner McKee.
And one where, like, Terrace Marshall beat him pretty clean. And then with the ones, when he's,
when Keely's on the right side, this one, I don't think you worry about too much. You know, Jalen Hertz
throws up a nice back shoulder ball to A.J. Brown. AJ Brown beats Keely Ringo. That's going to happen
to the best cornerback in football. That's fine. Keeley also gave up another computer.
completion to Terrace Marshall with the twos against Tanner McKee.
And so, listen, it's one day.
You're allowed to have a bad day, but a bit of an inauspicious debut for Kili Ringo.
You're right.
And we've been talking about this now for three summers in terms of the deep ball tracking
with Kili Ringo is that that hasn't as much.
You know, we've talked about how the ball skills were more of the, like finding the ball,
but that he's able to run with players.
Right.
He should not be getting beat.
Exactly.
Terrace Marshall beat him.
Now,
A.J. Brown, you know, that's similar to the conversation we had yesterday.
Like, I think you put it well.
J. Hurtz threw a good ball there.
A.J. Brown is, as he says,
the best receiver in the league.
Yeah, and we look up to that.
That's a play that, yeah.
If Keeley gives that up, you're like, okay, that's fine.
The Terrace Marshall ones, both of them raise a little more concern there
because you want, if it happens once, okay, but over, you know, a 55 minute, I'm sorry, 65 minute practice.
Yeah, it was showing up.
Truly, it is if, I think we both imagine that the Eagles would like Keely Ringo to win the job.
The thumb is a little bit on the scale for him to win that job.
Sure.
The kind of thing that's going to get him to lose the job is getting beat deep by Terrace Marshall.
And that's, that's no knock against Terrace Marshall.
But if you think about Vic Fangio's defense and what he cares about,
Don't get beat deep, please.
And for it to happen on day one, against the two is not ideal, but let's not overreact.
You know, we'll see how we rebounds.
Yeah.
And so I do think it's important to note what you said about them rotating in because after he got beat deep the second time, Adoria Jackson was in there.
And I think on social media, there was some speculation.
Maybe like Keely was being pulled because of that.
But that didn't seem because Keely went right back in there.
in the next period
with the first team.
So I think they were set on rotating here.
I know we'll get to the other positions,
but they did this at safety.
They didn't do what at right guard,
but at corner,
it's actually pretty cut and dry.
It's just every other period they switch off.
Yep.
Okay.
Number three, you mentioned him, Cooper DeGine.
And what interesting here is the Eagles had
several plays today with the first team defense
when they were in their base defense.
So five defensive linemen,
two linebackers,
two corners, two safeties.
And Cooper DeGine, we knew he was going to be on the field
in base defense. He's too good not to,
but he was playing safety next to Reed Blankenship.
Maybe Vic's been watching the exciting mic.
Yeah, well.
Thinks they've got good chemistry.
Good point.
Although the Eagles put out that video yesterday,
I don't know if you saw where they forgot their handshake
with each other.
Oh.
Yeah, that's because they were doing their virtual exciting mics.
And they, you know, so they had to do it.
Now they're back in studio.
That handshake will be.
like peas and carrots.
I'm trying to think.
What's, what's,
and shank will be like peas and carrots.
Things that go together.
Boy. We'll be in sync.
How about that?
We'll be in sync.
So, yeah, Cooper the Gene.
This is something that Vic Fangio teased during the summer.
I'm sorry, during the spring that Cooper could play safety.
And like, you know, the antennas went up.
Safety?
Yeah, safety.
And then we didn't really see it during the spring.
But when the Eagles were in base today, they,
So when they had four D backs on the field,
they were going with Cooper the Gene at safety.
And I think what you said is this does speak well to Kili Ringo
because you're saying, all right,
Kuanian Mitchell's going to be on the field,
read blanket chips is going to be on the field.
You want Cooper DeGine on the field every snap.
We expect the Cooper the Gene to be on the field
every defensive snap this year.
Whose spot does he take?
Does he take the second safety or does he take the second corner?
The fact that he's in there over the second safety
would give you confidence in that
or like the way they think,
I don't want to say the Achilles heel,
but the fourth guy in that secondary
is probably the second safety more so than the second corner.
It's also, I mean, it's day one.
It's day one.
Yes.
And until Drew McCuba earns the job at safety,
while there is a position at safety that's totally up for grabs,
it would make sense that it would be,
you would think that that's the spots of a Cooper de Jean.
But Cooper the Gene,
and you were on this from the jump,
like when they drafted him,
that his best position long term might be safety.
Was I?
I think you said, yeah.
I don't know if I feel like,
okay.
Listen,
I'm happy to take,
stay claim to anything.
Yeah,
I think that's something
because I don't believe
that that's an opinion I had.
Was it Fran who might have said that?
I'm sorry.
Franz,
Fran's been pounding the drum on him as just a corner corner.
Well,
that's what I've been saying like financially outside.
Right.
I think maybe it wasn't when they tried.
I think this off season you said,
what about Cooper at,
at C.
Oh,
that's different.
That's not the possibility.
Okay,
yeah.
I think that so when I was saying Cooper on the on the outside.
But, yeah, I'm intrigued by this.
I mean, Cooper is so versatile.
We've seen that.
He's a physical player.
He's an athletic player.
He's got real good size.
He's got good instincts.
AJ Brown said today that he calls him APC, all pro coop.
And when AJ Brown's saying that about you, that speaks volume.
So, yeah, it stood out to me that the first day of training camp,
they had Cooper to Jean playing first team safety.
in that formation because this is something
that they're seriously considering doing.
All right.
Number four, who do you think my number four is?
Tyler Steen.
Tyler Seen's five.
We're gonna go MacCuba four.
MacCube Four, okay.
Just to update everybody on the state
of the rotation and safety,
much more jumbled than it is at corner
where it's Ringo and Adore Jackson.
When it wasn't Cooper DeGene and they were in Nickel today,
Sidney Brown got the first crack
with Reed Blankenship, as we expected.
But later on,
throughout practice.
We did see Drew McCuba work in there alongside Reed Blackenship.
And then with the twos, you know, you've got a rotation of Tristan McCollum's in there sometimes.
Andre Sam is in there sometimes.
Sometimes we got to see MacCuba and Sydney Brown playing next to each other.
So this one is just very much wait and see.
Let's see how all these guys do.
But I do think, you know, if you're reading the tea leaves, the fact that McCuba is getting
some reps day one.
Again, I think they would like him to win that job.
You're right.
And the reason I pause here.
is because I think back to last summer when I was like, all right, Quineon Mitchell,
they're not going to put them on the outside, or I'm sorry,
they're not going to wait long before they put them on the outside.
And they waited like a pretty long time before they put them on the outside last year.
They didn't put them on the outside with the ones until week one.
Exactly.
Yeah.
So the lead up to it.
Yeah.
That was only because Isaiah Rogers hurt his hand.
Sure.
So that's why, yeah, like last year kind of threw me off.
Last year is my first exposure to Vic.
but in years past when you have the rookie mixing in with the first team early on,
it's usually a sign like, all right, go win this job, right?
Like we're giving you these opportunities now,
and then gradually you play it more and more.
That's typically how it's gone with those high draft picks.
Do you, did you see anything from the safeties today in terms of?
Not that I would say conclusively.
Yeah, not that I would say conclusively.
And how do you feel about Makuba just the way that he looks?
Does he looks like to you?
He's got those bright cleats.
He's got the neon yellow, what do you call?
Fluorescent yellow cleats?
My son would love those.
But how did he look?
Yeah, he's not, he's not jacked up.
Like he's not, he's not, you know, Sidney Brown.
He's not Joad Campbell.
He's not Sydney Brown.
I mean, yeah, he's not.
Yeah, he's not a big frame for that position, right?
More so than the Maccuba, but he does, he does move decently.
Okay.
Number five, Tyler Steen, EMA.
mentioned it. Tyler Steen took every rep with the ones at Red Guard today in individuals and in
team drills. Kenyon Green did not practice. The second team Red Guard was Matt Pryor. I think
I think you could move your turkeys a little bit more that Tyler Steen is going to be the
starting red card. Yes. I don't know. Yeah. It seems like this is the way that this is headed.
Yeah. As I tweeted out today, the news to me is when Tyler Steen's
not in there, not when he is in there. I'm operating under the presumption that he's the starting
right guard this year. And if there's a day when Tyler Steen's taking second team reps, that's when,
ooh, the antenna goes up. Yeah, that's a five alarm fire. Exactly. At this point, I'm expecting
to see Tyler Steen in there. And as we discussed, Jeff Stoutland's history would suggest that he's
looking for that synchronization. Yes, I agree with that. Okay, before we had to break, Zach,
anybody else that you want to make sure we talk about at the top of the show before we get
to Mina. And then before we talk about the other maybe lower level things that we saw today
in the C block and also what we heard from the press conference standpoint. Yeah, well, just
from practice today, Terrace Marshall, you know, I... Sure, the counterbalance, the zero sum
of Keeley, you're going to be deep is that Terrace Marshall popped. Yeah, Terris Marshall
jumped out there. And then you saw some Azizableness.
Zosolari mixing in with the ones on the right side.
As the day went on, I think that's kind of like a rep count type deal.
Yes, but he's, I think, the next one up at that spot there.
But no, you know, I thought then there, on topic of Quinnian Mitchell, he was
tightened coverage on A.J. Brown.
There was that play down the right side line.
So my left when AJ, so this is like, look, we say Keely Ringo.
Yeah, Keely Ringo, you deserve, you know, the benefit of the doubt here.
when you're defending AJ.
When someone makes a stop against AJ,
you're like, all right, great job by the corner.
And the ball is a little under thrown.
This is pre-snap.
Yeah.
And AJ Brown described it after the fact,
said that he and Jalen said two words to each other,
and they knew that this was going to be a go ball.
And it's a deep ball down the right sideline.
And it looked like AJ had like maybe a half a step.
Yeah.
And it's broken up by Quinnian.
Great play.
Now the flag gets thrown by the official,
and he calls defensive.
He calls defensive.
He calls defensive pass interference.
But AJ, after the fact, said,
I'm going to give that one to Quignan.
And I love that because I do think it was tickey tack,
especially on the first day of training camp.
Yeah, the official.
Yeah.
I've been at those practices.
Officials in mid-season four.
Seriously.
Sometimes they're like, hey, Ferrari, you know,
that's John Ferrari, who's the assistant GM,
who kind of oversees that.
I didn't hear that from AJ, but yeah, that's, that's,
I did not spot the flag.
I just saw the coverage.
So AJ did a good job saying,
you know what?
I'm going to give, I'm going to give Quinnian.
that one. All right, time to take a break, hear from some sponsors. We will hear from
Mina Kimes coming up. She was a big Jahad Campbell fan in the draft, so I imagine she's
excited about today's development. And then later in the show, I want to tell you about the
interesting A.J. Brown dilemma that he told us about today. We start with our friends at

All right, friend, here's an impression of me from yesterday.
Okay.
That's me walking into my house, sweating like a pig,
because it is feeling like a sauna in there.
Yeah, I mean, you know how it is.
This time of year, it's a fully heat.
It's no joke.
So what do I do?
Do I go jump in a lake?
It's not going to happen.
So I just got a bunch of ice.
Like, held it, rubbed it on my face, stuffed it down my shirt,
stuffed it down my pants, only way I could think to cool down.
I mean, stop being the stereotypical dad, though.
Like, turn on the AC.
It's time to fire that thing up.
I don't want to be, uh, I want to waste money, be energy efficient.
Well, look, instead of icing yourself out or jumping into a lake, you could just check out Pico's energy saving rebates.
They've got deals on Energy Star cooling equipment that actually work and cut down on your bills.
So, no more ice down my pants?
No, you could skip the ice, save the ice, and you throw in my drinks when I come over.
The same ice?
No, we'll change the ice up.
Okay, fine.
That's what's up.
All right, well, just head over to pico.com slash ways to save.
They've got tips for everything.
heating, cooling, lighting, you name it.
All right, back on

and yours.
How you doing, Zach?
Doing well.
Doing well.
You're nervous?
For talking to Mina?
I mean, I respect the heck out of Mina.
So am I nervous?
I'm not nervous.
No.
There's other emotions, but not nervous.
No.
Okay.
What kind of emotions?
I'm excited to talk to Mina right now.
So right now, excitement.
Okay.
Fair enough.
All right, while we wait for Mina,
let's go down the line
of some other things from practice today.
Do you care about the offensive?
defensive line depth chart that I can tell you about?
Or would you like to wait?
I always care about the W.
Let's talk about plays.
The BWOLR, the B-Wolf Offensive Line Report.
Nothing like it, baby.
We can probably sell that to, you know.
Oh, sure.
Billions.
I don't know about billions.
I would love it were millions.
But if we could probably sell it to like a moving company, you know,
the Michael Dunn moving company.
Remember we used to do that on, on, on our show?
Yes, I do.
Yes.
on our show.
Yes.
Yes.
That was an Osprey's appearance.
And also the,
the,
the,
CB and the wolf.
Zeeb and the wolf.
Yes.
There was a,
there's a quote
that Jalen Hertz said today
that I thought I wrote down
and I thought
was going to hit you
right between the eyes.
Did you tell me if you felt this?
Which one?
The past is behind us
and the future is too far away.
Yeah,
it's,
it's,
it's good words to live by,
for sure.
For sure.
Actually, I was flattered.
I saw,
on the Discord over the summer, someone said
that Jalen pays Zee-B for his quotes.
And I was like, that doesn't,
that's, that's not the case, but,
um, I,
I do like some, I do like some, uh,
Jalenisms.
Yeah, I do like some Jalenisms.
Yeah.
I'm a sucker for Jalenisms.
What did you think of Jalen today?
On brand.
Totally on brand.
Don't say repeat.
Don't, yeah.
He appreciated the question did not include repeat.
He,
he said, you know,
regarding not wearing the Super Bowl ring.
that he's on the next year.
Behind him.
Yeah.
I would have answered it.
Like, you notice he was wearing his wedding ring.
Hmm.
I would have answered, I'm wearing the ring that matters, right?
Oh.
Like, that's the, that's the Jordan Milata, you know, Jordan Milata at the SPs, at the parade,
always thanking the wife.
Great move by Jordan Milata, right?
Like, no, yeah, yeah, that's the way to go.
So you get a ring question for, for Jay One Hertz, you should say, yeah, I'm wearing the ring that matters.
All right.
Well, there you go. Now it's Tyle. We can welcome to the show from ESPN and the Mina Kimes show
featuring Lenny Mina Kimes joins us. Hello. Hi. Hello. How are you? How's it going? Good.
Happy to be here. We are very excited to have you. The response, I mean, people overwhelmingly just
thrilled about this. So thank you again. Is that so? Oh, okay. For doing it. And you said it.
Jihad Campbell. This was like one of your pre-draft crushes. So,
This is a huge piece of good news for the Eagles today.
We feel like the best possible football news they could have got today
was that he is this far ahead of schedule.
Signs seem to be pointing to very early.
Like he will be ready week one.
Why did you love Johan Campbell so much in the pre-draft process?
Yeah.
A lot of reasons.
Let me count the ways.
I did a defensive, like I kind of previewed all the first rounders
ahead of the draft.
So long before the Eagles drafted him.
and I expressed kind of my journey with him,
or I guess with this draft in general.
I was watching all the players and there were guys I liked.
And there were certainly Abdul Carter made sense as a top edge overall.
But I didn't really have that feeling of watching a prospect and falling in love.
And the player that I think I've said this at the time that I always go back to
is the first time I watched Kyle Hamilton in Notre Dame.
And then I got to Jihad Campbell.
I think I got to linebackers at the end.
And it was like the first moment where I had that feeling.
I was like, oh, wow.
This is a guy, like this is a dude.
And I'm so excited to watch him in the NFL.
I'm so excited to see how he's used.
Whoever is getting him is going to get an absolute steal.
And naturally, of course, of course, when he fell to the Eagles, I said, of course, of course.
There's just so many things about his game that I really like.
The athleticism is the first thing that pops.
The first step as a pass rusher, which of course is where he started.
His career, he's so explosive.
He has like true sideline to sideline range.
The instincts.
I think are really outstanding.
Having made a positional change,
I think there's going to be a little bit of an adjustment period for them.
And you saw that a little bit on tape in terms of diagnosing the run.
He would get kind of fooled at times by misdirection.
But I really believe he has all of the tools,
as well as the physical attributes in terms of speed, size, wingspan,
all of that to be one of the best softball linebackers in the NFL.
So to see him land, not just with the Eagles,
and to get to play next to the backers you have,
but to land with Vic Fangio,
just absolute dream for him and for me as a fan of the player.
And it is almost like the ideal version of Jahad Campbell
is what Zach Bond was last year, right?
And so to have the two of them together now
for Vic to be able to play with and not necessarily give things away pre-snap
and both of these guys can sort of do it all,
it is a little bit of like a, like, man,
we're giving this magician even more tools that he can use.
Yeah, Bonn's a little bit.
little bit of proof of concept for him in some ways. And, you know, not exactly identical as players,
but I do think some of the same attributes there, of course, Bond, too, with the past rush background
and Vic sometimes deploys him that way. But just having a player who you want, when I thought about
Campbell and how I wanted him to be used in the NFL, I did think a lot about the way they used
Zach Bond, the versatility, using him on the minus scrimmage with those six-man fronts,
how, you know, he was really the straw that stirred the drink in that defense. And it's
It's such a great, from a roster construction, I love the veteran linebacker with the young backer, because it's such a hard position.
And there is an adjustment period, you know, for rookies.
We have seen time and time again, which is why I went ahead of the offseason.
Zach Bonn was the one player.
I thought they got to resign, right?
Because the Eagles obviously got a lot of difficult decisions to make on defense.
But I thought, you can't count on a rookie coming in and taking this role.
Nicoby has his health issues.
You got to keep Zach Bond.
You keep Zach Bond.
And now you have the rookie.
I love that sort of build for the team, and I love the idea of them playing together.
And it's just so counter to the way that Howie has built things before.
And so you can tell that it is a Vic influence,
that this is how he wants the team to be built sort of from back to front a little more.
Yeah, and that's what I was curious about from your perspective, Mina,
because you spoke about him as an offball linebacker,
but also having that ability to play on the line and send six-man fronts.
And I remember watching you leading up to the draft,
and you thought similarly to us that the Eagles would look at the line of scrimmage in the first round.
Like that seems to be their history.
And after the Eagles drafted him, there was a lot of conversation, including on this show,
are they going to move him to edge rusher?
Is this going to be a Micah Parsons-like situation?
I know year one could be different than year three.
But as you project out, Jahad Campbell, do you see him being a Zach Bond-like player where he excels off ball?
Or do you think ultimately, I hate comparing anyone to Michael Parsons,
but he makes that transition to more of a pass rusher.
I would play him off the ball.
I think early on, you know, you use him in a variety of ways
and how he plays or how he has used his rookie season
might not, or how he's used the rest of his career.
I think the best version of him is as an off-ball linebacker.
He's a good pass rusher,
but I don't, certainly from like a, in a lot of ways,
he's not Michael Parsons, you know?
Very few humans on earth are Michael Parsons.
And I think because of the potential for coverage ability, you really saw it on tape at times.
He's got great wingspan.
I talked about the instincts.
That's going to get better and better.
I think, you know, playing the run sometimes at times, like it's just like a little bit slow.
But once he arrived, the knockback ability, the power, I think he's a really good tackler.
It's all there.
He has all the pieces it takes, honestly, to be like a really, really like elite.
I think an elite off ball linebacker.
That said, you talked about it.
You know, I thought they would go line of scrimmage.
I think he was just the best player available.
I agreed with that, obviously.
But at that point, you know, looking at the defensive linemen available in the draft,
there was nobody who compared to him, in my opinion.
And this way, you know, if you start the season and maybe like Hunt isn't quite the guy
you thought you hoped he would be, maybe Nolan Smith regresses, it's like, okay, we can use
him to add to the pass rush.
She brings us that flexibility because it is something that is in his bag.
And I do think, you know, part of the reason that they would have been willing to trade up for him to 24 is that.
And you just think about Howie.
And it's like somebody told Howie in the room like, hey, he could always be an edge rusher if we want.
It's like, okay, fine.
I'll trade up for him.
Okay.
I mean, I want to sort of level set your expectations for the season.
But first, I do want to ask you are married into an Eagles family, correct?
Yeah, true.
So how often are the in-laws bothering you about like where you ranked Jalen Hertz and the quarterback rankings?
I didn't rank him.
I think I've managed to evade being pinned down on quarterback rankings.
I did a pod where we had a draft.
So, you know, that's a two-person job.
Much different.
My in-laws are like true WIP listener, like wanted Nick's fired million times and now are completely
angry at anyone who dares
says he's anything other than a top five head coach.
They are the prototypical Eagles fans.
My kid, unfortunately, has a ton of Eagles apparel
that's been given to him.
They've really, unfortunately for him, I guess.
We've got to get him some PHLY gear.
Yeah, get, please.
He's big now.
But yeah, no, so I think I've avoided the shows,
because this has been, of course,
the big talking point.
And I feel like on every ESPN show the last week,
fortunately for me, it's not really what we do in NFL live.
We're not ranking.
So I get to, I get to evade as I am doing now.
And what is your big picture, Jalen?
Not where he ranks among the rest of the league,
but what are the ways in which you would like to see him take another step
if there is one for him to take?
Yeah.
I mean, I think just consistency is the first thing that comes to mind.
Can he be the guy throughout the entire season that we saw in the Super Bowl?
that we've seen in every Super Bowl he's played in, right?
I'm sure you guys would agree.
I mean, I know everybody kind of only remembers the last football game
that they watched these days,
but there were ups and downs the season.
Of course, there were reasons for that.
Inj. Brown's absence was tremendous,
and I think understated, perhaps,
when we talk about this team and we think about them.
That's the player where I'm like,
maybe Lane Johnson, but like,
you really can't lose AJ Brown,
but that's a whole conversation.
So you just want to see more consistency.
You know, he's continued to develop every year, not just in the NFL, but his college career as well.
That's kind of his calling card as a football player and what makes him so great.
You know, I think the change in play caller obviously brings about a set of questions, but not massive ones given the continuity on offense.
So you just, you know, my thing is with Jalen Hertz is just, okay, cool.
Like if he plays at the level he played in the Super Bowl throughout the course of the season, there's no debate about where he belongs in terms of quarterback tiers.
is you just got to see it.
I'm curious, a big, a big point of discussion here internally with the Eagles is how to,
I don't want to say repeat, but respond to a Super Bowl winning season, right?
And, you know, you saw this firsthand with Seattle going from, you know,
2013 and 2014, and they were so close to repeating.
And, I mean, no disrespect to Jowen, but, you know, if you don't have Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady,
it's been hard historically to win those back-to-back years.
He's probably more comparable to Russell Wilson at this stage of his career than a Patrick Mahomes.
So from your observation, what type of obstacles do the Eagles have right now trying to get back to the Super Bowl
outside of the fact that it's obviously hard to win a Super Bowl?
Yeah, I would say it's as much of a challenge for the front office as it is for the coaching staff and the players
because when we think about these dynastic runs and we look at the teams that have had success,
of year the two pieces in place seem to be either the quarterback who can win and elevate regardless
and then a front office that's good to replacing talent loss you know when you're a good team and a
in a hard-capped league you're going to lose players and you got to be able to rebuild and reinforce
and add depth and something obviously the eagles have been extraordinary at drafting can that continue
because you're we talked about this at the top you are leaning on now your defensive line depth that's
probably the biggest question of the entire roster right um can some of those young people
players who looked good in smaller samples, particularly towards the end of the season,
step up, uh, Juma.
I'm saying three and I'm saying three and I,
this is a very, this is a very interesting thing.
And we, we kind of, we kind of need to do like a, a Pablo Torre style deep dive into this
because it's been a different pronunciation guide each year of his career.
Has it?
Yes.
It was, he has a Jomo.
And then it was a Juma.
And then very recently it's, it's changed to Ojima.
Oh, goodness.
I like it when teams do the, they have the players do their own
pronunciation on the player guy and you just click on the website that's the best way to do it but
anyways he looked phenomenal but in a very small sample size right so like what are we going to get out of him
what are we going to get a hunt um you know the quarterback position opposite Mitchell on the outside
of course with wringo that's a question mark as well um and then I think offensively it's less about
drafting and there although you know there's a competition to guard and more just about um depth and
injury these eagles have played a lot of football people always ask about the 49ers why they have so many
injuries and you know does it have anything to do with kail shanahan and and the perhaps right but a lot
of it is just because they play so much football it's hard lions suffered that too and while the eagle's
offense is tremendous and obviously it's like an all-star team it's not deep at a few positions
and i think that would be the biggest challenge to me is if you lose an a j or or elaine johnson
are probably the two players i would put at the top where you where you start to worry about the depth
behind them. And so as you think about that and as we think about the Eagles heading into the season,
this offense that is star-studded and probably over the course of the regular season underachieved
a little bit last year versus the defense, which surprisingly turned out to be probably the best
defense in football. Which side are you a little bit more worried about? It's interesting because the defense
is mitigated to some degree by big fan geo and the fact that you have stars at really important positions.
but I would have to say the defense regardless.
I mean, that's a lot of snaps walking out the door.
And you're counting on young players to step up.
Macuba wins a safety job.
Another player I really liked, you know,
if Campbell has to play, brushing the passer,
you know, feel like they really landed on something there
with Smith next to Carter and that's great.
Can he build on that?
But also, you know, opposite him, also on the inside,
just questions.
I think this will be good.
And it's a complimentary sport,
so they're going to be put in a good positions, I think,
because of the offense,
continuing to be dominant.
But, you know, there are questions on that side of the ball.
What's your expectation for the offense this year?
Do you anticipate another year of Sequin, you know, being kind of the centerpiece of that
offense, or do you think this goes back to more jail and thrown AJ Devante and Dallas
Goddard?
I think it'll be exactly the same, which is you dial in on one and they'll punish you
the other way, right?
That's the thing about the Eagles.
They are the biggest math problem in the NFL.
You got to play single high because of Sequin.
Oh, oh, here comes the best man beating ride receiver, arguably in the entire league.
To me, I know there's a little bit of like, I want to say hebie-jeebies,
but everybody is remembers.
It felt like we were saying all the same things when they went to Brian Johnson.
And so there's a little, I wouldn't say paranoia, but I have found like there's a little bit of pause when we say,
cool, just run it back, hit copy, paste.
You don't have to change anything.
Okay, cool, but they did that, and it went horribly.
But that was a different group.
First of all, Jaylen Hertz, I think, has become a better quarterback,
particularly against splits, against pressure.
And they didn't have Sequel and Barclay.
And so I think that'll help mitigate that to some degree.
And I also think from the coaching standpoint and like the personality dynamics there,
if you want to be optimistic about it, back then,
the Brian Johnson, Nick Sirion,
situation was one where Nick felt like, you know, I think he was, he was eager to be involved
in all of that stuff. Whereas because this is Kevin Petulah, who has been his right-hand man,
I think he's going to be a little bit more willing to let it be Petulow's show for now.
But we also know that, you know, Nick, Nick can only help himself for so long. So we will,
see how that plays out. Yeah, I don't know if Nick's wound as tight now as he was in 2023.
I think super not wound tight stuff. I think the Super Bowl helps you, though, right? You can flex a little
bit after Super Bowl.
The last thing on that front,
on just the math problem that the Eagles present,
that I always,
we often talk about is,
and this is one way in which,
you know, Jalen could get better,
is boy,
when you have A.J. Brown and Devante Smith
and Dallas Goddard and Seekwon Barkley,
it sure seems like that fifth guy
should be someone that the defense
can't really pay attention to.
And the Eagles throw to their third,
Jalen Hertz,
specifically throws to his third receiver
less often than anybody else in football.
And I understand it.
You know, you should throw the ball to AJ and Devante,
but it does feel like that is just one little area
where I feel like they could get better.
Goddard is one too where I think, you know,
last year disappeared and underperformed.
There was injuries too.
And it's such an opportunity for him in this offense
because of everything else, right?
Like, I think of him as kind of being the third dude.
And I feel like if, and that was,
I also wasn't sure if they were going to retain him.
So to me, that's a, he has the opportunity
to be the third guy.
The fourth thing is Hertz rushing as well.
Yeah.
I feel like I got some blowback from Eagles fans when I,
when I said after Super Bowl,
I was kind of astounded by how good he looked running.
But I was.
Like I thought that was the most explosive.
He's looked as a runner.
And again, injuries, all of it plays into that.
But that's such an X factor in this offense.
And it sometimes it's been up and down how much of a factor
that's been over the last couple of years with Philadelphia.
but that's always an option for them
that can really, really punish defenses
to overplay either Saquan or the receivers.
All right. Well said.
Mina Kimes, thank you so much. We look forward to this.
We'll talk to you in two weeks.
Enjoyed it. Great to see you guys. Thanks for having me.
You too. Thank you.
Thank you, Mina.
All right. Time to take a break.
Come back and talk about what we heard
from the press conferences today.
Any other, I got to give you those
offensive line depth chart notes
and what A.J. Brown said that I thought was very interesting.
All right.
Everybody looked down.

All right, Zach,
back to what we learned today.
Yes.
At the COVID-Care Complex.
What was the biggest press conference takeaway you had today?
Well, there's, I mean, there's a, so the number one.
I guess we should start actually with Howie and Nick.
Yeah.
They kicked things off.
Was there anything worth?
Well, again, I mean, it was the news of Jihad Campbell was, but no, I mean,
Howie Roseman acknowledges that they have draft picks at their disposal, that they can trade,
that they can use, right?
I mean, this, you said what they have, they're expecting 13 next year.
It was a 12 or 13.
I think he said 13.
13, yeah.
And so, you know, I did ask him about his,
his tolerance for playing younger players
compared to external reinforcement
because this is something they, they have,
whether it's safety, whether it's edge rusher,
spots where you know there's going to be new starters.
Like Josh Sweets not walking through that door.
C.J. Gardner Johnson's not walking through that door.
And there's a little more depth at edge rusher.
It's a more important position.
But these are spots where the Eagles could, in theory,
out of the ad veterans and we've seen that in the past when there's been you know after two weeks
of camp or so or even you know c j garner johnson was cut down day back in in 2022 uh and he he said
that you know like they they talk every day during the season during the off season about
upgrading the roster he said if there's someone on the street who's better than their 90th player
they're going to bring that guy in um which is that's that's part of what metali how yeah um by the
reason why they had to sign a defensive tackle because because of whatever Jalen Carter has going on.
You called it. Well, I mean, you were right. You were right. That's like when I predicted the
Zach Bond thing on that that day. Again, you deserved credit for that, even though you then
predicted a different day and you backed off of it, but no, you need to wait a lay at the show for it.
But Howie, Howie made the point of mentioning, you know, they only have two players in their
defense over 25 years old and they're going to play young guys. But he talked about how some of these
young guys have either already had meaningful snaps or have played with these guys before,
right? And so the Georgia guys stand out there. Yeah, I think that is overrated. I agree there.
I'm just kind of saying what. Right. I know. Like, you know, Cooper DeGine and Quinnianne
Mitchell hadn't played together before. Exactly. They work together well. You know,
I think if you've got good players, they'll be fine. Exactly. And I was listening to the show on
the way home yesterday or the way to work this morning, rather. And you made the, and you made
the point that like the Drew MacCuba pick is a is a big franchise.
I don't want to say franchise altering, but like you, you said like this is such an
important pick for the franchise because of what it means for that position, right?
So that's why safety, if we are sitting here on August 2nd is what day is August 2nd?
That's a day when we have a show, right?
August 2nd is a, no, it's a Saturday.
So August, if we're sitting here August 4th and we're talking about Justin Simmons signing,
then that's a bad sign for the Eagles, right?
So that's why I kind of asked the question and the jury's going to be out there.
How he's always been aggressive.
He traded for Jahan Dotson last year when it was clear that wide receiver three was a question.
What's that smile?
Nothing.
Okay.
Well, I mean, would it be a worse sign if we are sitting here on August 11th in talking about it?
So you have Jaha, well, look, I mean, the later later,
it is in camp, the harder it is to acclimate.
True. So, yeah, so Justin Simmons.
So anyways, what, let me just free a group here.
He traded for Jahan Dotson last year two years ago.
He's very intentional about saying, we've got these picks.
If I think we need to make an upgrade, I can use the next thing.
Yeah, two years ago, Zach, you know, Zach Cunningham's a starting lineback from them.
They signed him in August.
Three years ago, they trade for C.J. Garner Johnson.
So, so there's still, there are still options here for the Eagles.
But I guess that's a takeaway from how I thought the players were more interesting than anything else.
To me, I mean, I love just hearing from AJ Brown.
Yeah.
He's so insightful.
He's so thoughtful.
And he has such interesting perspective.
He had a great perspective on the ring and how that actually felt more meaningful to him than other things.
I think he can check out that clip on the PHAY YouTube page.
But the thing that he said that I thought was most interesting was, you know, he talked about.
himself and you know he thinks he's the best wide receiver in football and and his goal is to put a stamp on
that and then he sort of caught himself he's like but i have to put the team first yes and i think that
is such a good insight into a jay brown and i and i don't mean this from like a um it creates tension
in the locker room stand it's not you know he he does what's best for the team and he says and i do
yeah but you have to imagine that that is a difficult thing for he himself
to wrestle with is that
I am the best receiver in football.
I could have 2,000 yards receiving
if you throw me the ball.
Yes.
But that's probably not the best thing
for us as a team.
I have to take a step back.
And that must be really hard for him.
Like putting a stamp on it,
if he has the best yards per out
running the league, you know,
there's no stamp there.
Exactly.
Get that, even if he is efficiency-wise,
the best wide receiver in football.
But if he has 1,800 yards,
then like that's a stamp.
But that's not the way
that the offense is going to run.
Yes.
I'm so happy you brought this up.
We've been talking about this
the entire offseason.
And part of the reason why I said
that they're going to pass the ball more this year.
And it was perceived, you know,
because I read every comment,
I read the Discord.
And it was perceived as me saying,
like, you know,
AJ and Devante are selfish.
And it's like they proved.
And I said, no, it's not that.
They're prideful, right?
And so, like, I don't think,
I've made this point over and over again.
I don't think these guys
are just on the team to block, right?
Like they want to be,
AJ views himself as the best receiver
in the league.
And so I asked the question today
after he said that,
how do you demonstrate that?
Is it with statistics?
Is it with all pro appearance?
You know, what's like the measure?
And he said that he can't even like judge the critics.
It's what he knows in his heart.
But yeah, I mean, I got to think
the entire pat you know whether it's jalan passing whether it's a j passing whether it's
i'm sorry jay receiving devante receiving dallas goddard like these guys are going to want better
numbers um and i don't blame them like they're that good and if you just i mean if you just think
about it intellectually it's probably not good if they give the ball to say guan quite as much as
it did last year right you don't want to overburden him and overwork him necessarily maybe that's
the way you want to play in the playoffs right because that's your formula but over the over the course of the
season, yeah, spread the ball around a little bit. And it's the same thing we talked about.
Sequin Barclay's the best running back in football. He's averaging whatever it is yards per carry.
And guess what? AJ Brown's yards per target is more than that. So like, yeah, he needs the ball.
Yeah. And and like to make this kind of big picture in terms of human dynamics,
this time last year, we were talking about they paid AJ, they paid Devante, so they don't have to worry about that.
Right. Right. This year, they paid Sequan. Like they don't, you know, that's true. They don't have to
We're like Sequin, if Sequin had the 2,000 yard season, and then he comes back and, like, they pull back his numbers.
Then this would have essentially been a contract year for him because there was, you know, the guaranteed money was in those first two years.
If you're Sequin, you're like, wait, I had that career year.
And now I'm going into my contract year with like, you know, with.
So, so it could be like the inverse.
All right, Sequin, we took care of you now.
You don't need to worry about getting 2,000 yards.
You don't need to worry about getting 1,500 yards.
And it's, it's like, you know, you, you.
you take care of these guys and it's like, all right, you're good, you're good.
So I think that's something to keep in mind with like AJ and Devante this year is those conditions that were in place last year.
I think, you know, I think they're going to want to be more involved this year.
Okay. Anything else from Jalen that jumped out to you?
You mentioned the repeat thing, you know, similar to Nick.
He's not using the term repeat.
He talked about his conversations with Michael Jordan.
He didn't want to discuss, you know, these quarterback rankings.
list, although he had a sly smile when he was asked about it.
Like, you know, that was his way of answering without answering it.
He's aware.
He's aware, exactly.
And, you know, especially because this isn't just like talking heads sometimes, although
I suppose former players become talking heads.
But like, you know, Cam Newton talked about this, right?
And that's someone who Jowen's spoken about in the past.
And so I'm curious.
What did Cam Newton say?
I missed it.
He wasn't, he thought like Jalen was kind of paraphrasing here.
because I only read it.
I didn't watch it.
But, you know,
Jalen was kind of,
like, carried by the offense,
that kind of,
that kind of concept.
Although I might be missed,
I'll come back tomorrow
with a better explanation there.
And, yeah,
so he talked about that.
He talked,
you know,
you asked him about control
with the line of scrimmage.
Yeah.
And he said he feels no different
than his,
than his rookie year.
Just that experience matters.
Exactly.
Exactly.
So,
and then I also thought, too,
like,
if you go beyond the Eagles,
what's pretty topical
with some of the NFLPA discussion.
Yeah.
You know,
Lane Johnson was fairly blunt that like...
Got the weakest union in sports.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's been a crap show.
Exactly.
Yeah.
And, you know,
Jordan Milata said that he thinks
they have the right people
deciding things now
and they didn't before.
But he is in...
He's in a leadership position.
He has to say that.
He says he needs...
But he says it wasn't,
you know,
it's been a mess, right?
And which is pretty clear,
you know,
there was a good article today
by Don Van Adden,
Kailen Keller.
Yeah.
And so,
So, yeah, so that was interesting.
A lot of important power lunches.
A lot of important power lunches.
I guess I'm just talking about Lloyd Howell, Jr.
Oh, okay.
Expense reports.
Okay.
I thought you meant Don Vanetta and got him, Cam Taylor.
I was like, okay.
Yeah, so that stood out from those guys.
Sequin was, you know, similar to what we talked about with the Super Bowl.
Seekwon said, you know, the reason why it's hard to get 2,000 yards and back
back of years, it's hard to get 2,000 yards once, right?
So, like, yeah, it's not typically done
because it's hard to get 2,000 yards.
And then there was, you know,
Jordan Ayala eloquently kind of stated
what Nick Seriani said.
Jordan said they're not defending anything this year.
They won last year's Super Bowl.
They're 2,024 world champs.
They're not defending champs anymore.
Like, they're trying to win this year.
So that's kind of the way it goes.
Okay.
I'm going to give you your offensive line
report. Yes, let's hear. Are you ready?
With the ones, you know what it was.
Jordan Milana, Lentickerson, Cam Jergens, Tyler Steen,
Lane Johnson. With the twos.
Now, there's a difference between individuals
and teams. Today,
and individuals, from left to right,
Kendall Lamb, left tackle.
Trevor Keegan and left guard, that will change.
Brett Tooth at center, Matt Pryor at right guard, and
Darren Kinnard at right tackle. In team drills,
though, it was Kendall Lamb at left tackle.
Brett Tooth at left guard, Drew Kendall bumping up to center.
So Trevor Kagan bumping down, Pryor and Kinnard.
But with the threes, Trevor Kegan, in team drills, working at center.
So we saw, remember, I told you, I get, you know, snapped to attention in the spring.
When we just on the side, we saw him doing it.
Well, he brought it to the practice field today.
So Trevor Kegan getting some positional versatility.
And then with the threes, you've got.
Miles Hinton at left tackle,
Lakin Vakalahi at left guard,
Cam Williams at right tackle,
and Holland Pierce at right guard.
And of course, that's no Kenyon Green.
We'll see where he slots in when he returns.
Miles Hinton, I think, looks good,
just physically, looks good.
I was talking a friend about that.
Flex.
The interesting thing there,
Kegan, do you think that's a good sign
that he's getting some center flex?
I do.
I think it's important.
I do, yeah.
I mean, I think it's important
for his chances to make the team.
And then water gunned to your head, Kendall Lamb or Daryne Kinnard,
who's more likely to be the swing tackle?
Water gun to my head.
I mean...
Let's call it the belly button.
We don't need to be...
Regardless.
I would lean toward Darren Kinnard
because Kendall Lambs strikes me more as a practice squad guy.
Like, you don't have to guarantee his salary.
And then, you know, Daring Kinnard, you have up.
But the whole reason that Kendall Lambs here is to be a swing tackle.
So, right.
But it could also be an insurance signing too.
Sure.
So, yeah.
I think you got the right read there.
Anything else, depth chart wise for us to talk about?
Dept chart wise, no.
I mean, just in terms of like seeing Jason Kelsey was there at practice today.
So you, you saw him.
Speaking of Seen, by the way, Lewis Seen not involved, as we said in the spring at all in the safety competition.
Yes.
Yes.
So former first round pick, pedigree does not resonate with.
Vic Fangio the same way it does with Howie Roseman and myself.
Yeah, I think that's a Devin White situation where one guy is higher on him than the other.
Yeah, that's how he's saying, hey, let's, you know, that's, yeah, let's try to extract as much
talent as you can, you find here.
Okay.
We don't have a ton more to do, but whatever it is we do, it will come in overtime.
We do have just as a reminder, a super chat we didn't get to yesterday.
I know, yes.
We've got a couple of super chats from today and one from yesterday.
We abdicated our responsibility yesterday.
Pun returners.
Anaya Smith, Cooper DeGine,
Taylor Moran,
Jahan Dotson,
and who's 42?
Orrin Berks.
Is Elijah Cooks?
No.
Let me tell you here.
Hold on here.
Pulling this up.
I should have these numbers memorized.
I don't.
That's a bad job by me.
Bad job by me.
Forty-two is Jackson, Kyle's.
Gilles Jackson.
Giles Jackson. I knew it was
one of those guys. Okay.
That's about all I got.
Not a lot of big plays being made.
Yes.
On the other side of the ball.
Good thing about training camps are back at it tomorrow.
I know that's right. All right. Let's get to the Super Chats.
Let's do today first.
Vinny T. says Doug Peterson had a book deal
and run it back vibe.
Siriani had no deals and avoid
repeat like it's the plague.
What's your read on the two head coaches post Super Bowls?
Yeah, good question.
Because look, for full disclosure, you know,
I wrote a story on all pHly.com
that I hope you'll read last week
where I kind of got into this.
By the way, this is my fault.
I should have brought this up before.
But you can read that story
and every other story that we have on all p.hly.com
if you become a diehard and now is the time to do it.
$36 for the whole year.
It's a training camp special.
You get Fran Duffy.
You get Charlie O'Connor.
You got Kyle Newbeck.
You get Fran Duffy.
Should be pretty good.
Go ahead.
And I'm going to have a piece up today on practice.
You get my work too.
Oh, yes.
So.
I wasn't sure.
So, and then I had a piece last week that I was referring to that you can read.
Yeah, you certainly get the back catalog.
So, yeah.
So I asked Nick Siriani about how he navigated this off.
off season.
Because I think this is a, you know, it's always interesting to see, you know, he's never more
marketable than he is this year.
Sure.
And, and he said that his, you know, he did some speaking things as you.
Yeah, he took the money there.
But he was not like, he was not on the speech circuit.
Yeah.
He didn't write a book.
Thankfully for me.
Because I think Doug.
Peterson and Nick Foles,
ate in some of my book sales in 2017.
So I think the only books that are coming out are children's books.
So I think the bookshelf real estate will be hopefully pretty safe.
And we know how you feel about children's books.
I love children.
I read every night to my son and my daughter, too.
So, yeah, so to get back to the Doug Peterson part of this question.
Doug's, not to think, look, Doug, I don't think Doug did anything wrong, writing a book about his, his message, though, was about the target on the back, embracing the target.
This is the new normal, right?
That it was like, it was, you know, own this.
You're the Super Bowl champs.
To the point that Malcolm Jenkins that year, before week one, asked Doug to take off all the Super Bowl stuff.
We're living in the past, you know?
And Nick Siriani has almost done the opposite.
All right there.
no that was last year you know no repeat the ring ceremony that's that you know they're going to
have the banner come down but yeah nick syriani um has taken a different pack the different
approach here so that has stood out to me yeah do you think that that is seriani on his own
or do you think that that is in any way um influenced by howie rosam yeah good question i think it's
Siriani on his own. I think so too. Yeah, I don't think Howe's telling Nick how to operate with this. I mean, sure. I imagine he spoke to Jeffrey and Howie about, you know, 2018. And as Howley said, they started slow and finished strong in 2018. And as Lane said today, they finished or they started fast and finished bad in 2023. So they kind of got to put it together this year. But I think, you know, Nick and this,
what I wrote about in that piece on all phtly.com. Nick's spoken to a lot of people
who have experienced this and he says the two problems that they have is they either rest
on their laurels or they look too far in ahead or they look too far ahead and he said all you can
do is like focus on right now. So this is behind us and the future is too far away. Yeah. So he gave the
example Christian Parker gave him this book on a daily wisdom and one of the things was if you're
running a marathon and you're on mile, you know, and you're not thinking about 26.2 miles. You're
think about the mile that you're on right now.
And I think that's probably a good way to go through life as well.
Yeah, I mean, I don't think I could run a marathon because I'd be thinking about all the ones to come.
That'd be brutal.
Yeah.
Okay.
Next super chat from Fresh Prince, who says, will Zeebee finally admit that he loves us?
Yes, I could tell you with unequivocally, I love this audience.
I am so, so grateful for this audience.
Like it is, it, this, this is hard grew.
Yeah, this, I love, I love this, this audience.
Like, I get, you know, my wife will tell you, like, I get a dopamine hit from this audience.
Like, you know, I, I, I don't know what, uh, what like a high is like, but I get, um, I, you know, I, I, I get pumped up when I read.
Julia, you want to chime in?
Yeah.
When I read, um, when I read comments and like, like, nice messages.
and, you know, every time I'm out and someone says, you know, I love the show.
Yeah, I promise you, I feel that.
So I love, love, love this audience.
Yes.
And the community that we've built here.
Yeah.
Do you want to answer Stonks question or you want to say that for another day?
Stung's, I'll tell you, I'm focused on the mile I'm on right now, right?
So if you look too far behind you, it's in the pad, you look too far in front of you.
Like, yeah, my focus is doing.
You can tell the future.
Nobody knows.
is doing the best show today,
but then when I get home,
writing the best practice report I can write,
and then tomorrow,
coming back doing the best show tomorrow,
if I'm doing the best 30 second video I can do,
honestly, like that is,
that's my focus right now
is doing the best work I can every single day.
And I think that's how you build audience loyalty.
I hope that's how you felt audience loyalty
by doing great work, you know?
I don't know, loyalty is what you want to lean into,
Now, okay, let's go to the super chat from yesterday from Polar Jam.
It says, do you guys read much national Eagles coverage?
ESPN had Matt Pryor listed as the presumptive starting red guard,
and the Kobe at linebacker makes me want to ignore anything that doesn't come from a team's beat reporters.
Do you guys read much national Eagles coverage?
Yeah, ESPN, I read every single piece written about the Eagles.
Like, I get Google alerts about Eagles.
So I get some stuff that has nothing to do with the Philadelphia.
Do you just do just Eagles, not Philadelphia?
Actually, Philadelphia Eagles, yeah.
But, yeah, so I read everything.
Dept charts this time of year are hard to project, right?
I think we've been pretty consistent about Tyler Steen.
So, yeah.
So, yeah, I mean, that's kind of how I would read.
I think to the question, it's, I mean, this is, it's just media literacy.
Yeah.
You know, if it's Tim McManus, you trust.
Trust what you read.
Sure.
If it's something less informed, there might still be value to it, but yeah, it's not the closest thing to the source.
That's okay.
Yeah.
Everybody's got a job to do.
Okay.
Julia, how you doing?
Fantastic.
Eagles practice again tomorrow.
Fran is going to join us.
We're going to have a little three-man weave to talk about the second day of practice.
Look forward to that.
Coming your way at 2 o'clock.
No practice Friday, but we will still be here, rest assured.
than the Eagles are on the practice field on Saturday.
We will do a very quick version of the show
that'll go up, just go up as a Vod, as it were, on Saturday.
So we'll still got you covered.
And then, of course, all this stuff on social media.
So thank you to everybody for joining the show today.
Thank you to Mina Kimes for stopping by.
Make sure that you like the video.
Tell your friends to subscribe.
Let's grow this bad boy.
And then remember, we're going to be back tomorrow.
And one more reminder, $36 for the year, training camp special if you want to become a diehard,
and two weeks away from the Ospreys in person should be very fun.
Okay, that'll do it.
For Zach and Julia, I'm Bo, we will talk to you tomorrow, and as always, we love you.
