Hello everybody and welcome to the P. H.L.Y. Eagles podcast. Training camp day 10 is in the books.
We are live from the X-Finity Lounge and presented by Ashley, E.J. Smith, Rand Duffy, Bo Wolf. Lots to get to on a busy day at the formerly known NovaCare Complex.
Something to discuss. Vic Fangio spitting some truth bombs. Good news about Jalen Hertz.
Another long touchdown pass.
One's versus two is all over the place.
Some depth chart movement.
Players of the day, all that good stuff.
Good to see you out there, Fran.
Great to see you out there.
Yeah, it was a brisk day.
It wasn't too hot.
A little breeze today.
A little breeze today was very helpful.
Yeah.
I feel like the last 30 minutes of practice
and the press conferences and everything,
it did get hot.
People keep telling me I look sad.
And I'm like, I guess I've just been out in the sun today.
I promise I'm not sad.
I'm actually.
Very excited for today's show.
We got a lot to get into.
He had one of the craziest comps I've ever heard.
You weren't here for this.
Nice guy, Tim.
Shout out to Tim.
Good looking fella.
But like a long white beard, long hair.
Yeah.
And E.J. goes, anyone ever told you?
You look like Jake Elliott.
He looks like Jake Elliott.
He doesn't look like Jake Elliott.
He looks like Jake Elliott.
And then think about Tim.
He looks like Jake Elliott.
Not even a little.
He's got the same kind of like
Like that face
You know?
Like that friendly face
At all
He looks like him
Really bizarre
I knew you had no taste
No smell
I didn't know that your eyes didn't work
He looks a little more like Bobby King
Than Jake Elliott
I just
I mean he doesn't look like Bobby King
He doesn't look like Bobby King
He looks like Bobby King
You're not gonna come out to Fran
You just come out to me
He looks like Jake Elliot
He looks more like him than
No he doesn't
He looks like Jake Elliott
You should smile more
It is

Okay, let's get to our players of the day.
And let's do it with the right people presented by True Mark Financial.
E.J., our Eagles Inside, I'm going to let you kick us off.
Yeah, so I have a, I've got my player of the day, but I also have an honorable mention.
I feel like if you're going to give it to somebody today, it's got to be Sequin Barkley.
He brought a lot of juice to practice today.
It was a run-heavy practice for a lot of the day.
You know, we'll get into some of the looks at the time.
the defense responded with.
But I feel like Sequin, he's looked explosive this summer.
He looks fast.
He looks like he's in great shape.
And I think it shouldn't be taken for granted the intensity that he brings to every practice
as a trash talker as just a tone setter on the field.
I think we've really seen that the last couple of practices, him really being, like leading
by example when it comes to like the intensity that they expect that practice.
There was a good moment talking about the trash talk.
Oh, yeah.
At the end of practice, a very end of practice.
So they did a four minute drill.
where, you know, the offense is trying to milk the clock.
You're trying to, you know, whittle the game down.
And the threes were out there.
The two, it was the, it was a three.
It was a threes.
Yeah, threes are out there.
And on third down, Ty Robinson, after the play, turns to the refs and just yelling
the refreeks out.
He's flinching.
He's flinching.
He's talking about the offensive lineman.
Very next play, now it's fourth and fourth and short.
And AJ Ebenezsa jumps off sides on that play.
And Seekwan comes running off the sideline yelling,
oh, I thought he was flinching.
I thought he was switch.
Oh, it was really funny.
And what was also funny there is
Keely piped it, you know, chimed in.
It was like, I'll do that.
I said something.
And Seekua, literally looks at Keely.
I look at the camera and do this.
He looks at Keely, goes, do something.
I swear, if Seekwan Barclay were not Seekwan Barkley,
he would have gotten into a fight this training camp.
He is constantly talking trash to these guys.
Yep.
And he looks really good.
Yeah.
Looks really good.
He looks really good all summer long.
Yeah, he had a couple good runs today.
I was watching the running back linebacker pass pro one-on-ones.
Oh, so good.
He is one of the best eagles we've ever had in pass protection.
And so that's what we've always talked about.
I never we talked about this last year at this time.
We were talking about managing his workload and trying to find where do you steal the snaps.
Yeah.
You can't take him off the field on third down.
He's too good.
He's too good in past.
He is so much better than anybody else they have in that.
He's awesome.
A note on The Past Pro.
So I think I mentioned on yesterday's show that Sequan just destroyed Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
On a blitz yesterday.
I asked around about it after practice.
Apparently, that got a big reaction when they watched the film.
Just because I'm not sure I've seen a running back do what he did to Jeremiah Trader Jr.
on that play.
I mean, he drove him into the ground and then some.
And again, I think that that was admired after the practice.
That's a good one.
Good one.
Over to you, Fran.
I thought about Seekwuan today.
I thought about going that route, but I just used him on Saturday.
So I said, I'll let me go a different direction here.
I went with Jalix Hunt.
And I think that, you know, Jalix was a player whose name I wrote down a handful of times
over the course of practice.
He did get home for a sack of Jalen Hertz on one drop back in a team period late in the day.
But Moore showed up for me in the run game.
It was a heavy dose of the run game and play action pass game again here today this morning.
And there were a number of times where I thought Jalick set a really strong edge and
forced Sequin to kind of bounce outside.
There were a couple where, again, like you see like linebackers,
Jahad Campbell, Zach Bond flying downhill.
And a reason is because Sequin's forced to get east-west,
because Jalick set a strong edge.
That happened a couple of times over the course of practice.
There were a couple others where he was the one who actually got off the block
and made a play to play to play.
So I thought Jalick's hunt.
I want to throw him some flowers.
I don't think I made him player the day yet this summer.
So I went with number 58.
We got to get our, we're going to get our tracking.
See who's going to win the summer.
Yeah.
But yeah, Jalick looks great.
He was my pick, Jimmy Kemsky,
every year. Shout out Jimmy does a stockup, stock down. He pulls the beat reporters.
And Jalix Hunt was my pick for stock up. Like all the players on the roster, he is the one that
I think has increased his stock the most. I know you can make an argument for Darius Cooper,
and we've been really bullish on Darius Cooper, but I think that Jalix has stepped into a class
of edge rusher that needs to be admired and appreciated. Who did you say?
Stock up? Yeah.
The chat can probably guess.
Big Willie.
I go Willie Lamper
Come on, what are we talking about here?
The hat.
You know who I said?
Cooper.
I initially was going to say Cooper.
Too popular.
Yeah, we like to be different.
And then I thought about one that matters more.
Oh, one that matters more.
Kendall?
No.
The reps?
The reps.
No, stock up for me.
For you?
Yeah.
Jalen hurts.
Good one.
Yeah.
If I will say, though, if EJ did that, you would be roasting him right now.
I don't think that's right.
That is, oh, come on.
I think that's been true in the past.
That's been true in the past.
I think, I think Jailen has been really good this summer.
I agree with you.
A lot of different ways.
Yeah.
And even things you hear about like the way that he's acting in the, just in the building.
Yep.
Like there's been a bit of a shift with Jalen.
I think it's all positive.
A quick note on that.
Vic Fangio had some, some positive things to say about Janehers for her practice.
You want to talk about a reliable narrative.
I was going to say, Vic doesn't sugarcoat anything.
No.
If Vic wanted to say that's a question for Sean or that's a question for Nick on how Jalen looks,
he could have done that.
Or he would have done that if he wanted to.
He made a point of saying, like, he looks good out there and he looks faster out there.
And I don't know, I took that as physically faster, but I guess you could also attribute that
to playing faster too.
So, yeah, it's been a good summer for Jalen.
Well, I think he did mean physically faster because he was talking about how, you know,
the defensive lineman will, you know, complain after a play,
saying that they weren't to get there.
And Vic, the defensive coordinator, was like,
some of those, they're not getting him.
Yeah.
He's getting away from those.
Yeah, he does look faster.
Jalen kind of played that down after practice.
He said that he just does his normal regimen.
Didn't say that he's lighter or anything,
but you can look at him or you can tell.
He's a little bit lighter and a little bit quicker
than he has been in years past.
My player of the day,
I wanted to give a little nod to a down the roster player.
Of course.
Because this was kind of a day where we got a lot of work with the ones, but it was run heavy.
There was nothing super splashy.
I wonder.
Okay.
And there's a down the depth chart defensive player who we have talked about a little bit.
I thought this guy was on my short list.
Really?
Yeah.
And he flashed to me today.
Yeah.
And he was very comfortable in the box, making like patiently waiting for the hole to open up and then exploding to the ball carrier.
Deontale Lawson.
To me is a player on the come.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Now, especially,
Chance Campa has been injured.
Right.
So, I mean,
I kind of like it Deontay Lawson.
I like it Deontay Lawson as well.
I'm a little bit heartened
that he was on your short list as well.
I thought about using Deontay Lawson today.
Because we've talked about it a couple times
over the course of the summer.
I said, yeah, like, I just haven't seen him pop in team drills.
And then it was, was it Saturday the first time?
Or I was like, yeah, like he popped again today.
This was the first time where I noticed him a handful of reps.
And then today, I felt the same way.
there were a couple of reps from like, yeah, there's 47.
Numbers rough, but that'll get corrected.
Lawson.
Well, and to your point, as you've, for people who don't know, this is an undrafted rookie
out of Alabama, who was a highly ready to recruit, right?
And then dealt with a lot of injury issues.
He was in a lot of the two early mock drafts a year ago at this time.
Okay.
Like, so first round pick, you know, so the guy that people were really high onto
and then just was not healthy last year.
And to that point, when you, like, he's lining up next to Smile Monson a lot.
Yeah.
You look at those two guys, you know, it doesn't look like one guy is a higher draft pick than the other.
And I think Lawson almost looks the part a little bit more.
Lawson looks the part.
Did you remember who I said?
He kind of reminds me of physically for my namebacker.
Yeah.
I forget who you said.
Nigel, Nigel Braddon.
Oh, you did say that.
Yeah.
He's got those long arms.
He's just like a physically imposing guy.
Really good downhill.
I, I'm, and he's on my, I would say, like, my short list of players that I am most excited to see in the film.
on Sunday morning after the preseason game Saturday.
Yes, especially because linebackers and safeties, as we always talk about,
it's very difficult to judge in a practice setting.
You want to see how they actually finish plays.
So once he gets on the field, I think he's got a shot to potentially earn a roster spot.
Yeah, it's a crowded room all of a sudden.
Like that back of the depth chart linebacker spot, like how many can they carry is probably
a good question?
Because, I mean, Vic told us, Chance Campbell, when you're making your lists, he should be on there.
Yeah, but that was before he got injured.
Yeah, but I mean, we'll see how long he's out.
I think the fact that, yeah, they have a lot of guys there all of a sudden.
It is funny, though, like thinking, you know, covering this team for so long,
like, if you could have taken any of Chance Campbell, Lawson,
like any of those guys had put them on the team six years ago.
Correct.
They're all like, oh, this guy could start.
But now it's, I don't know how many of them we're going to make the theme.
Yeah, right.
All right.
All right, let's close the book on The Right People, presented by True Mark Financial.
We got a couple super chats.
Wait, I got an honorable mention for you.
Let's do the Super Chats, but I do have an honorable mention we need to talk about.
Super Chats.
We start with the Dinkleberg, who says, looking forward to hearing Gush's name and some 53-man
predictions when I listen later tonight.
Little schedule change here.
We did not expect today's practice to be quite as intense as it was.
So because there's so many notes to get through from today's practice, we're going to give
you our 53-man rosters on Thursday's show.
Yeah.
I think it's fair to say that they change the schedule at some point between yesterday and
today.
They made this a longer, more intense.
practice than we expect.
So we will give those two on Thursday.
But as for the Gush,
Gush is getting a lot more time
on the field than he did at the start of camp.
He's playing some reps with the twos
on the field a lot.
Another day, it seemed like where he was ahead of pulley.
Yes.
Will Madden with the Superchant says
Eagles, player, or coach,
most fitting of also
having the pasta man nickname
versus shout out to the great magician
Michael Carbano.
Hmm.
I mean, it's hard
not to just think Vic.
Yeah.
I'm trying to think is there like a name pun.
Yeah.
Give me a second here.
I made a Michael Campanero.
Finally,
the people have been asking
about the garden.
Finally got the first like
harvest yesterday.
So the collaborativeian chili.
So the first time I had to collaborate in chilies.
I did like a collaborativeian chili like cream sauce.
And we're talking.
It's like some Cucili.
What about?
Where's the invite?
Oh.
I had to test.
see if the if it came through like Joe caspatopi is that something a pasta name
Joe Cavatopi hmm oh you guys hate that wow
tough scene I mean you could have sold it a little bit I love to think about that
one a little bit uh good question though thank you very much
penangio all right oh penazio penanzio is a good one yeah don't don't give me a pity bell
now.
I'm not.
Certainly better than whatever.
Whatever it was that came out of your mouth.
I like, we're a big Cavatopi family.
So, you know, Joe Kaspatapi, I think that's all right.
I'll take it.
As long as you'll take it.
All right, who was your honorable mention?
Quignan Mitchell.
I think we should probably talk about Quignan for a multitude of reasons
early in the show here.
So I was the only one who watched the wide receiver corner one-on-ones.
Yeah.
And I can go through those notes later, but the big one was that
Quinian Mitchell got another interception today.
Oh.
He was sitting on a Hollywood Brown double move.
And it was funny because me on the sideline, not, you know,
savants of covering wide receivers, obviously.
When Hollywood Brown broke inside, I'm like,
Quinian, you lost leverage.
Like, you were on the outside.
Like, I thought you're about to give up a 50-yard touchdown.
And it was funny because then Hollywood Brown kind of knew that Quinehan was sitting on it.
And he's just like, uh, and, you know,
Jalen throws the ball.
And Quineon is literally running the route for Hollywood Brown.
It was impressive.
It was a very cerebral play.
But this is like Quinion Mitchell's fourth interception of the summer.
You know, Vic said before practice that he called Quinyan a regular season virgin.
He's still a virgin in the regular season.
Because he doesn't have an interception in the regular season.
He's got four in the postseason, which is quite a number.
Vick's like he still doesn't have an interception.
And he'll tell you that he's got a bunch of the playoffs, but he's still a virgin in the regular season.
Quite a quote.
Vic Fangio, like the king of one-liners.
But I am ready to be the one pushing this agenda.
I think Quinion Mitchell has added interceptions to his game.
I think he has added takeaways.
So what's a realistic over-under in your mind?
Three and a half.
That's fair.
I mean, he is an elite cover corner.
He just hasn't made plays on the ball.
He has made plays on the ball this summer.
Would you take the over or the under?
I'm taking the over, obviously.
This is my agenda.
Look, I've always been,
really, really high on Quignon.
And interceptions are weird.
Like I, yeah.
To me, like, it's not going to get worked up over it.
I mean, he looks good.
He has looked good making plays with the ball the summer.
You guys have to look better.
He's looked good.
He's looked good.
I don't know why you guys are trying to slow play this.
He looks good.
He's making plays every practice.
He's had two picks and two straight practices.
Okay, but what else happened with Quineon today?
Okay.
So the thing that was noteworthy with Quineon is he got,
he kind of fell awkwardly at the end of one-on-ones.
It was against Hollywood Brown on an out
breaker. And it was weird because he got up on his own and he never went inside. He never,
he just, he was on the sideline the rest of practice. He took a knee for a while. But I didn't,
I don't even know if I saw him have a long conversation with trainers, but he did not participate
in team or seven on seven after that. So he had a great play early in practice and then watch the
rest of practice from the sideline. It's actually interesting, Mac McWilliams got a bunch of those reps
with him down. Keely Ringo got a few as well. I got a couple of good one-on-one reps too. Okay. Yeah.
That's notable. Against who? Um, I, I'm actually interesting. Um, I,
I will tell you, let's see.
Great coverage versus Elijah Moore Outbreaker I have here.
Mack, nice rep versus Torre slot fade.
Those are the two I think I had him down for.
And Vic gave him a little bit of a bump as well.
Mac?
Mac.
Right?
So he's matured.
Yeah.
And he said the way that I talk to him about it, I can't say on the podium.
Yeah, I feel like I have an idea what he meant.
I'm not saying it on the show either.
be a man kind of deal?
Yeah.
I think it probably had to do with, you know, I'm not actually going to finish that.
Is there anything you're going?
Well, and then what was the important thing that Vic did not say when he was asked
about the backup quarterback?
Oh, man, this was brutal.
He was talking about the outside corner depth.
And he's like, you know, we got Josh Jones, or John Jones, sorry, we got Jonathan Jones,
even though he's got an injury right now.
The reporter?
Not the reporter.
The Eagles quarterback.
He's like, we got John Jones.
We got J.B.
which is Jacorian Bennett.
And then he goes,
he says,
we got Mac.
And he says,
I'm probably forgetting one or two.
But,
you know,
that's shaping up nicely.
And he also said,
we'd like to be able to not
have to ever put Cooper back out there.
Right.
But what he did not say
is Keely Ringo's name,
which is really tough.
Yeah,
that's right.
You're like scraping the bottom
of the barrel of your outside corner depth
and you kind of forgot
the Kili Ringo even played
on the defensive side.
So,
I mean,
I think he's just a special team's guy
for them at this point.
you're not going to trust them out there.
All right.
Time for a quick break.
On the other side, we will get deep into the notes.
Lots of one-on-ones, lots of team drill stuff,
separate fields, multiple pairs of eyes.
You're going to tell it to you.
120 seconds.
What if you had the same stain on your shirt for five whole years
and nobody told you about it?
That would be pretty tough.
Almost as tough as if you had internet
that kept raising their prices every single year
making you pay more, making it worse.
It's tough to be a consumer these days.
But not at Xfinity
because of the five-year price guarantee
where they tell you that you can have five years

You know what's not going to change?
The cost of your internet.

Has it been a while since your last pest control service?
If so, this is a good reminder to get ahead of things
before pests become a bigger problem.
Our friends at Evans Pest Control are offering a welcome back deal for returning customers.
Your home hasn't had general pest treatment in the past 12 months.
You're eligible for 5% off your next service.
You just have to use the code return 5 when you schedule.
When treatments lapse, pest activity tends to ramp up, especially with ants, spiders, rodents, bees,
and other common household pests that look for a place to settle in.
I actually just had to take care of some of this around my house.
We have a front porch and there were just bugs everywhere.
I had to get the power washer out.
So make sure that you guys are getting regular service
to help prevent those infestations before they start
and keep your home protected year round.
So if it's been a while, now is the perfect time
to reconnect with Evans Pest Control.
Use the code return five when booking your next general pest treatment
and get 5% off as part of this limited time.
Welcome back off.
Welcome back to the P.HSAB.
The P.HL.E.E.L.E.E.C.T.C.m. Day 10 in the books.
Let's get to the Nodies.
Where would you like to start, Fran?
Let's do one-on-ones.
I'm excited to hear these.
I'm going to do running back tight ends first.
Sure.
I mean, I gave the...
Yeah, the big one.
Yeah, so basically they repeated matchups over and our, which I enjoy.
So we got to see a lot of Sequan Barclay versus Zach Bonn.
Seekwon pitched a shutout.
Like, was outstanding versus a good blitzing linebacker in Zach Bond.
Jihad Campbell had a couple of nice wins over Tank Bonds.
Bigsby, Bigsby, this was the first time
I've really gotten to see him in this drill
because he obviously was not with the team
during training camp last year.
He's a bigger back,
but he's got, like,
there are some technique things
that he's got to continue to work through.
I think he's just okay in that phase.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr., it's funny.
I think because we make the comparison
with him and Nacobie,
and N'Cobie was such a good blitzer,
and Jeremiah Trotter is a good blitzer,
but it is like feast or famine with him.
He either wins well,
or he just gets like crushed
to the Sequin clip.
Yeah, like he,
there were a couple in this,
in this session where like,
yeah,
he lost pretty handily
to a couple of those running back.
So I'm pulling up a couple.
Yeah,
like he was very hit or miss.
Lawson had a couple of nice reps.
And went up the,
like he,
the first couple he had
were against Jackson,
the new kid.
And he kind of beat him pretty handily.
So then got a couple more
against Shipley and Bigsby
as the drill went on.
Shipley struggled.
I know that that's an area
where they were hoping to see him
kind of take that next step over the course of his career.
But, you know, that's one of those things, though, that does keep you from being, like,
that true third down back.
Like, Kenny Gainwell could be counted on because he's going to give you some, he's going
to give you something in pass protection, right?
Like, you know, Shipley has just never made that step in that fast of his game.
I did the O-line, D-line, but you were, you were.
Yeah, I'm curious to see if we, if our notes match up, you want to go through them.
Yeah, let's go on.
So this is O-line, D-line, pass rush.
Yeah.
And it's mostly two reps at a time.
Sometimes they would rotate it and out.
Yep.
Start on the right side.
Lane Johnson against Nolan Smith.
Nolan tries an inside spin move.
Lane's got it handled.
Oh, I actually, I kind of like,
I thought I gave Nolan the slight win there.
Really?
Yeah.
I thought that was as good of a spin move
as you're going to get against Lane.
Okay.
I was good with it.
I thought it was fine by Lane.
You just don't like Nolan and I do.
I think you do like Nolan is what's happening.
I feel like that's, I feel like,
I do like Nolan.
That it's a good discourse that we have where I feel like you're a little bit more Nolan sided and we are a little bit more skeptical sometimes
Because you remember frame was defending like his practice
Like you weren't defending his practice habits. You were defending him not looking good in practice
Okay, yeah I thought I thought it was a good rep
Then they brought in Fred so Lane only got one rep right and Fred did a good job riding no one wide
Got it yep rode the hoop with him yep then you get Jalen Carter against Tyler Steen
Yeah first one Jalencar slips
Sloply stumbles, yep.
Good rep from Steen.
Steen pushing the ground.
Then a good, so then they take out, Jalen Carter.
Here comes Ty Robinson, Steen get him on a good quick set.
Quick set, got him.
Got him.
Got him. That was good.
And you go Cam Juergens against Jordan Davis.
Yep.
And the first one I put in my notes, did he lose slow enough?
Yes.
To me, so what I usually do with the one-on-ones is like clear win either side or just like a stalemate
and that one I put it as stalemate where I'm like, I like.
Like, Jordan Davis gets in.
into the pocket.
Yes.
Like,
there's like enough resistance
from Cam
that it's like,
okay.
For me,
that's a win for Cam.
Yeah.
Like, you know,
big picture,
if I'm looking at
that's a win for Cam.
And then the second one,
he did,
it was a clear win for Camper.
Clear win for Camper.
Clear win for Camden.
Yeah.
Next up,
you've got Ojamo against
Drew Kendall.
Yep.
First one's a win for Ojamo.
I thought so too.
Quick,
quick easy win.
Yep.
And then the second one,
good bounce back from Kendall.
Good.
Erlian.
Yep.
Sat with power.
So no Landon in one-on-on-ones?
No Landon in one-on-ones.
And I think that they are really taking care of Landon Dickerson this summer.
Yeah, I think so.
And really, I think just trying to get him to week one.
I think that's a fair assessment.
It's like the end of Jason Peters, where I was just like, yeah, we just got it,
like, you're almost like putting them on ice a little bit.
That's kind of how it feels with Landon.
Yeah, I think if you were an outside observer,
and you're like one of these guys,
is consciously playing the final season of their career.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You would think that it was Lenny Dickerson.
Right, yep.
Yeah.
Jordan Mila against Jalick's Hunt.
And this is good because Jalek's Hunt has gotten the better of Milata most of the summer.
And I had two good, clean wins from Milata.
It was the only thing that was like, that was in my mind,
before I'm naming Jalix the player the day for me,
was like, man, like he just got completely locked up by Milata on the one on once.
That was a good job.
Yes.
Then we get Fred gets the first rep against Jose Ramirez.
Good job by Fred Johnson, rides him wide.
In comes a juquo, and a jukew handles him.
Two not great reps from Ramirez.
Ty Robinson gets the first rep against...
Who do we have here?
Majors.
Again, against majors.
And Ty, Ty, wins the first one.
Clean win.
And then the second one, I have, like, a loses slowly.
Yeah, I, like, gave a slight lean to Robinson on that, but it was that, yeah, nothing I feel strong about.
EJ's...
EJ knows where the...
I wasn't even over there.
I mean, I gotta tell you,
Jake Majors,
I'm writing down Fetch in my notebook
because they just keep trying
to make Jake Majors happen
and it's not there, man.
There was the first team period,
the backed up period.
He gave up a sack off that side.
He's struggling a bit.
I got a Jake Major's problem.
I don't want to kick a guy,
but it's not good.
OJMO then got a rep against Willie
and he walked him back.
I thought both times got it.
Yep.
Yeah.
And then the second one too.
The second one was kind of like a quick swim.
Willie was holding on for Dear Life.
It was the first not great reps from Willie.
We'll get to a funny Willie moment later in the show.
That was great.
A really funny Willie moment.
Michael Morris against Gabe Hall.
Good rep from Michael Morris, the first one.
And then the second one felt like Gabe Hall got underneath him a little bit.
I thought the second one was probably more stalemate, but I was, I kind of like Michael Morris.
I like Mike Amos.
I was just good to say.
I feel like he's starting to come on a little bit.
I'm excited to watch him.
There was like one or two reps in team periods today where he gave up a little bit of pressure.
but I am, he will be on my 53.
He was on mine, yeah.
He is a guy, you know, I made the comparison
to just how he was like perceived
similar to Miles Hinton last year.
I am more optimistic about Michael Marst right now
than I was about Hinton last year at this time.
He's playing both sides.
He's only playing guard, but he's playing both sides.
Yep, moving up a little bit.
He swapped sides in the middle of a team period.
Did you guys catch that?
No.
Yes.
Yeah.
Yeah, it did happen.
He went from right guard to left guard.
Yeah.
Yeah, they did a little bit of rotating
the offensive line within
the drill today.
Yeah.
He just looks like he belongs.
I think that's like the best thing you can say about a late round offensive
line.
Honestly, it goes to the, I believe it was Alic Calabey describing him in like the, you know,
the passion meeting before day three, which we saw from the Eagles.
And it's like he's played in the SEC against good competition.
Like he looks the part like that's great traits.
There's a little bit of, you know, less guesswork.
Yep.
Totally agree.
Markle Bell against Wieroo.
and these were unfortunately
just not great reps for Weiru.
Locked him up.
Yep.
Totally locked him up.
The second one was especially impressive.
It was like very polished.
He punched at the exact right time
when we were was a little bit off balance.
Totally handled it.
That's what you want for your third round pick
going up against a gifted but still undrafted players.
That hasn't really played.
Now you want to talk about fresh legs.
Yeah.
Here comes to Ron Jackson.
Yeah.
Just making mince meat of both Ajukwu and then Cam Williams.
Yep.
This spin move he puts on Cam Williams.
Really slick.
Really nice.
I mean, the guy's good.
He's been waiting shot out of a cannon all training camp to get this opportunity.
He took advantage.
I like a Toronto Jackson.
93 on 79, what we got here?
This is, oh, UR.
Yes.
So the first one, kind of a stalemate.
And this is against Michael Jordan.
Yep.
The second rep, now Ojuuku comes in.
I was a jukew, right?
Yeah, it goes to a jukew at right.
Guard.
And UR gets underneath and is pushing him in the pocket.
Yep.
And the reaction from the defensive line to UR having like what is really the first good one-on-one rep that he's had.
Yes.
You know, Jalen Carter is fired up.
Jordan Davis is fired up.
They are like hooting and hollering because it's like, oh, O'R, putting it together.
Same wavelength because I wrote down like these guys are having fun, enjoying watching him go.
And I thought Uar even like his response off that, like you kind of are like, all right.
He grew, he was like, it was truly like he grew a couple inches.
It was very cool.
It was very cool to see that.
It was very,
I actually got like, seriously like a little bit of goosebumps even like talking about it
because you can kind of see like, that was like a boot, a confidence.
Like he's starting to believe.
Yeah, it's like, the hard work is for this moment is paying off.
Very cool.
It was really cool.
What a moment.
It sounds incredible.
It was awesome.
It was very cool.
Just to quickly finish two more reps.
Zion Wilson against Drew Kendall at center.
These were, the, the first one was okay.
for both of them.
The second one was a great rep from Kendall, I thought.
And I'm excited to see Zion.
I like Zion, too.
He shows some flashes.
Yeah.
He shows some flashes.
He is worth a practice squad spot.
I think so.
That's the level that we're talking about.
Yeah, he's a fun, fun player.
And then finally, Michael Morris goes up against the new guy that it was, 64.
Yeah, yes.
I forget his name.
I wrote just, I drove 64.
Wait, 64.
And actually the second rep, the new guy had a good,
had a good rep.
Yeah, I wrote down.
I got it.
But you sure is number 64?
I think so.
Is that his name?
Oh, Blay is the defense tackle.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yes, correct.
David Blay, Miami.
Not to be confused with David Blow.
Correct.
Not to be Washington Commander's
office coordinator.
There you go.
Yeah, I thought we were on the same page
and that was fun.
The UR moment was probably the biggest highlight.
Sounds like something out of a movie.
I missed it now.
Outside of Nolan's spin move from the first rep.
Please.
Barely,
barely of pressure.
How about what do you got for one-on-ones?
All right.
Yeah,
so wide receiver DB one-on-ones.
I thought Rick Wulin had a tough day.
He got beat on an in-rout
by Don Tavian Wick's first play of the one-on-ones.
And I thought it was noteworthy that Vic
when talking about Reek-Willan before practice.
Yeah, he was like, you know,
the question was,
has he translated his strong spring
into training camp with the pads on?
And Vic is like, yeah, you know, some of it's translated.
You know, he's been, I don't want to call it lazy, but, you know, lazy with some of his technique, you know, and off coverage.
And that, you know, again, Vic doesn't sugarcoat anything, but, you know, made it clear that Rick,
Enrique has talked about transitioning to off coverage and how that has been something he's worked on this summer.
And yeah, I think Vic wants to see him clean up his technique.
And that's just the degree to which the tone of voice has changed in the way that Vic talks about Rekwell and
from the spring.
Yeah.
Why some of us sold our stock.
It's why some of us
for saying this in the spring.
I was wait and see.
I got to play a little bit.
I mean,
he's still a significant improvement
over what they had last year.
Yeah, he's still,
yeah,
I mean,
these one-on-ones are not advantage.
But he will be,
there will be times this season
when Eagles fans are frustrated with him.
Yeah,
sure.
Elijah Moore had a nice day overall
and had a nice rep against Cooper de Jean
on an outbreaker early.
He's a tough cover for,
Dijin. Yeah, Elijah Moore
and Britton Covey are a tough couple. Yeah, that's
that body type is tough for Degine. And Dijin
said that to me before about how
like those smaller slippery guys are the ones he struggles
with. Like, you know, DeGine wants to be physical
in the slot. So
yeah, you're going to hear a couple
of reps for Degine that sound alarming, but
I think it's just that type of receiver.
Gives him trouble. Darius Cooper with a
win on a slant route against Keeley Ringo.
Darius Cooper,
such strong hands, man.
Like at the touch point, he's so physical.
Mac McWilliams, nice rep against Samori Torre, slot fade.
Jacorian Bennett, nice Pbue on, I have 86th written down here.
Is that Quez?
Cuez Watkins Go ball.
Britton, nice sale route against the Gene.
He did a nice job selling the dig and then cutting back out.
And then Eric Ezukhanmu.
Azu Kanma.
Asu Kanma had a drop on a go ball.
It is very funny.
You better get his name right.
He got a drop.
I write down
as in my notebook.
That's my,
that's my defense.
Mack McWilliams,
great coverage on the
Elijah Moore Outbreaker.
You know,
not like that as guy.
Quinion Mitchell
sat on the double move
against Hollywood Brown.
And then Darius Cooper
routes up requal
on an Outbreaker.
Again.
Yeah.
The Andy Dalton
had a great pass to Samori
over Cooper to Jean.
And it was a good period for Andy Dalton randomly,
especially like on 40-yard deep passes,
which you don't typically see from him.
He had one where the wind kind of caught it,
which you don't love to see,
but otherwise I thought he had a good session.
Cuez caught a touchdown from Andy Dalton
against Tricori and Bennett on a go route.
And then I have Britt and Covey,
nice hezzy drag versus number 30.
I'm not going to try and figure out who that is on the fly.
Sean Wade.
Yeah, that's a new guy.
and then I have Hollywood Brown
I'm not a new guy
Hollywood Brown
had a win against Quigion
but it was the one where Quineon got
hurt yeah got tripped up
and then Darius Cooper wins
on a slant route again
strong hands again
Jaylon Hertz had nice things to say
about Darius Cooper after practice
let's hear it
he was asked about how good Darius Cooper can be
which is a question that I think we're all wondering
right now you know
like I had a conversation with a couple of reporters
in two separate conversations
about like, what is this guy's ceiling?
Yeah.
And before we get into that, Jalen,
he took a really long pause,
you know, really thought about it
and said, I think he's pretty good already.
But, you know, just need him to continue to grow.
You know, didn't want to put expectations on him.
But I think the fact that he took that long pause
probably honestly,
thinking about it just like we are.
Like, how good can this guy really be?
Right now, I think he is already pretty good.
I like that.
He's already pretty good.
He's already pretty good.
Girl, you already look good.
Good.
My two favorite Jalen plays
the day?
Okay.
He hit Elijah Moore.
I was going to say,
let's tell the people
your two favorite Jalen plays of the day
after we hear these words
from our sponsors.
Stay tuned.
If you're looking for the perfect way
to cool off this summer,
you've got to check out,
Reidas.
They've got a brand new
Shirley Temple Italian ice
and it tastes just
like the classic drink you grew up with.
If you want to take it to the next level, add the Shirley's Sparkle topping for a little
extra fun.
And while you're there, grab the limited time, limited edition, Shirley Temple Cup, snap a photo,
post it on social media, and you could win free Rita's for a year.
But don't wait, this flavor is only around for a limited time.
Of course, Rita's is about way more than one great flavor.
Their Italian ice is made fresh daily with real fruit.
Their frozen custard is unbelievably creamy.
and if you've never had a gelati, I mean, what are we doing?
There's layers of Italian ice and frozen custard together.
You are seriously missing out if you've never had that.
With so many flavors to mix and match, the combinations are endless.
So treat yourself to a scoop of happiness this summer.
Rita's ice custard.
Happiness.
Be cool.
Go to Rita.
Do you guys know those moments?
When you're not really looking for a full meal, but you just want a little something?
Maybe it's that long commute home like I have.
I drive past four or five Wawa's, and by the time I'm passing the fourth of the fit,
there's almost no way that I'm not stopping.
And that's exactly where Wawa can come in in the clutch for you guys as well.
Wawa has become my go-to, anytime I'm craving a sweet treat.
They've got so many options depending on what you're in the mood for.
You're feeling something rich and creamy, you've got to try the strawberry cheesecake cream smoothie.
And if you want something that tastes like summer, the peanut collata float is the perfect answer.
or if you're looking for something you can really dig into,
the caramel cookies and cream parfait,
it's seriously hard to beat.
It's a perfect afternoon pick me up on these hot days
or a little reward after a long day or even a late night dessert run.
So no matter what you're craving,
Wawa's got ice cream parfaits, floats,
and cream smoothies ready whenever you are.
Again, on these hot days, got to have a Wawa.
Back on the PHOY Eagles podcast, Fran,
the two best plays you saw from Jailen,
hurts today were deep post touchdown to Elijah Moore in team periods uh off play action really
nice ball from Jalen down the field caught in stride by Elijah Moore very funny after the play
he takes the ball and punts it onto the roof of the uh the practice of health complex yep and then
the ref throws a flag uh for a little bit's very funny got out the rep and then well some people's
player the day sometimes um and then actually my favorite play was actually one of his last
of the day. I think it might have actually been his last throw of the day.
Drops back. He hits Dallas got it on an in-cut
who, and he had Marcus Epps right on his back. So like a relatively tight
window throw, catch over the middle of the field, nice play.
But more importantly, there were like some bodies right in front of them that kind
of got like, you know, a defensive lineman got thrown to the ground.
So there's people at his feet and he still made that throw in in the middle of the
field. Obviously he knows he's not getting hit, but just, you know, him making that kind
of throw from a congested pocket to the middle of the field, always good to say.
So those were my two standout moments from Jalen Hertz today.
I like that.
Yeah, the poster out to Elijah Moore was really nice.
It was almost like, I wouldn't call it a double move,
but Elijah Moore did a good job selling the corner before breaking inside.
It was against Andrew McCuba,
but I wouldn't put it at the feet of Andrew McCuba
so much as I would say it was good play design.
Like they got the coverage look they wanted.
Yep.
Do you feel like Elijah Moore could make this team?
It's a, it's a tricky question because it's like
been very productive. His play in camp might, you might say it warrants him earning a spot on the 53,
but he's the type of player where you probably, not probably, you could get him through to the practice
squad. You know that he wasn't necessarily in high demand and free agency. Like maybe it's just a roster
mechanics thing that maybe like you put him on the practice squad just to get somebody else through
on the 53. I think he's someone who you could do that with. But he has been productive. A lot of it has
been like schemed open for him. You know, it's been like spacing routes. You know, you, you want to
just get the ball on his hands. But today he was, he was good even beyond that, I would say.
At what point should Eagles fans be worried that McKay Lemon's not going to be ready for week
one? Oh, I think we were there at this point. I mean, at the very least, he's not going to have a
huge role in week one with as much time as he's missed. Because Devante is like starting to gear back
up. Yeah, that's a good, that's a good thing. Before practice today, we saw Devonte working out.
Lemon was out late. Like, you know, he was like well into practice before we saw it. Yeah.
Devante was doing like 100-yard sprints with a trainer before practice.
Mackay Lemon came out.
He was on the jugs machine for a little bit when he did come out, but like he's not doing any rehab yet.
I do.
We've always said that Devante's timeline seems more abbreviated than McCoy-Lemans.
So yeah, I think we are there.
I think you can start to wonder if he's going to be available.
If McKay-Lemond is not there week one, does Elijah Moore have to play that role in the offense week one?
And you have to hold him on the roster for that reason.
But I do think to EJ's point, though,
elevate him.
I think send him down to the practice,
squat and elevate them.
Yeah, I think that's...
I think they should be able to sneak him through.
Okay.
It would be my guess.
Yeah, it's been productive, though.
It's not interesting play design today in the...
When you guys were watching 1-0 versus 2D,
I was watching 1D versus 2-0.
Dalton under center fakes the handoff,
you know, the outside zone that we've seen to Will Shipley,
rolls to his right.
but then it's a screen throwback to Shipley
and the offensive linemen are still out in front
which was cool.
It only got like six yards or something like that
but it was a nice little,
it was a fun little wrinkle.
They did some more like perimeter type stuff today.
There were a handful of players
where I noticed with the ones where I was like,
oh, Cam Jorgans out in front,
Cam Jorgans out in front.
Yeah.
And again, you know,
I thought he had a good day.
Yeah, I think Jurgen,
if you were comparing like Jurgens to Landon,
yeah, health-wise, like Juergens
It looks.
It's early,
but it looks like he did two years ago.
Yeah,
he looks like he's back,
quote unquote,
whereas Landon,
I don't know.
Yeah,
Landon,
I had the benefit of standing
next to like the screen
where you can watch everything back.
So I basically,
I made a point a lot of the time
of watching Landon and Protection today.
And it was a heavy,
heavy pressure day,
which is what we'll get into that.
But yeah,
Landon didn't look great in Pass Pro today.
I don't think you look good
in the run game either,
but especially in Pass Pro,
it felt like more often than not,
like if somebody was trying to beat him
with quickness,
like he didn't have anything for it.
Yeah, I mean, even like after warm-ups
and they're going over to individuals,
like, sort of my lot is sprinting over
and like, you know, the guys are on a jog
and Lannon's just kind of lumbering over.
You know, that's fine.
That's who he is.
It's like, yeah.
Just, it looks like, it looks like every rep is like
he's muttering to himself afterwards.
Oh, like.
Yeah, the Jason Peters comp is a good one.
You know,
There's just like a loss of mobility.
Question for you, Fran.
Do you think, because we have seen more duo probably in training camp
than you would have expected.
According to some, yeah.
So do you think that any of that could be like a reflection on maybe our interior
offensive line isn't as fluid and mobile as we would have expected?
No, I think that this was always going to be a part of the identity.
I think one of the reasons you want to go under center,
especially now is that we're seeing more teams that if you're going to go under center,
you want to be able to run more duo.
and that's leaning on those double teams up front.
I think Landon, if he's not mobile,
like that should be a scheme that he should fare well in.
Right, yeah, I was wondering if, like, the move toward that is, like,
seeing how they look running a lot of wide zone and saying,
like, yeah, maybe we need to mix in more duo.
No, I think that that was, you know,
I think Lane had talked about that in the spring.
Yeah, I was excited when he said it, yeah.
Yeah, I think, honestly, even, like, listen to you talk about,
like, the throwback screen, like,
that is the benefit of going under center more
is that you can do all of these different things
from a, like, it's a much wider scope of ways you can attack the defense and dress things up
to look exactly the same.
So, yeah, you're on like under center and it's under center stretch play or it's under center
and you have duo and then you have all the different play actions off that.
It was a heavy play action day today.
I saw more pistol today.
Yeah, it was going to be some play action pistol.
You know, the under center duo with some of the under center duo play action.
So that's going to be like straight dropback play action.
but then there's the play action boot.
There's like the half boots.
There's a lot of variety, which is really good.
Yeah.
And then there was, we also, when they were backed up,
there was like a shotgun run.
It was like, oh, that's from last year's playbook.
And they just got blown up for his safety.
Right.
I was going to say, just like Jalen Carter flying in the back field.
Yeah, exactly.
Andy Dalton threw a pick to Cooper DeGine.
And that drill, it was one of the worst throws of the summer.
Just a total, no doubt, like no shotter into double coverage.
if Dijin didn't picket, somebody else would have.
So that was not great.
You know what Wiru does a lot?
You want to talk about Wiru for a sec?
Yeah, let's do it.
They use, weiru drops a lot.
And for a guy who's not played football before,
like, looks pretty comfortable doing it.
You know, there was one where they completed it past a Covey on him in the flat,
but it's like, okay, you have a three-yard catch to Bryn Covey.
I still see it, like, I still see the speed around the edge.
He's fun, man.
Oh, I was, we were all.
He's smitten.
We were all, I mean, the whole media corps was spitting.
We heard.
Everybody needs to know why E.J. was smitten with Josh.
No. No. You can say it, but it's not true.
He's got like a British accent.
Yeah, he does.
So E.J. is hookline and sinker.
Not like the Beatles, though.
Like starry eyes. Yeah.
Most of he sounds like he plays for Ashton Villa.
That's why I like him.
But he just, we've finally heard.
from Joshua Weirut today.
You know, this is his first time speaking to the media since he signed.
And he is a nice guy.
Like, you know, he's very insightful and, you know, enjoying the whole process you can tell.
I wasn't the only reporter that was like, oh, man, like, what a fun story.
Yeah, but that's the important question.
He's the, I'm in a defensive line in the NFL.
He's too nice.
Too nice.
I don't know about that.
I mean, he's got popping his hands, you know, he's out there knocking people back.
That's what you want to say.
we have that you wanted to play? Yeah, we have a fun clip about Joshua. We were talking about
the role Jailix Hunt has played in his development and kind of taking him under his wing. They do
have similar physical profiles. Jalick's Hunt agreed with the assessment from Fran here. And then, yeah,
Jalick Hunt crashes the interview. So I thought it'd be a fun clip to play.
Technic tips all the time, attitude tips. Just, I mean, watching the guys and how selfless
they are with tips, it's not kind of like negative competition.
where they're not trying to give me the inside, inside knowledge or whatever it might be.
So I can see that all of them really want me to succeed.
So that really helps me.
I'm sure all of them have been helpful, but Jalix was just talking about how he's, you know,
taking a vested interest in your development.
You guys kind of have a similar build.
So how much have you taken from his game and, you know, the kind of his approach and meetings
and everything like that?
Yeah, no, Jalix is one of the best vets.
That is one of the best vets.
I mean, what you were saying, like, body type is similar.
I would say Rush style would probably be similar.
And seeing how he's winning and kind of seeing, like, yeah, if I sucked myself out,
I can actually start winning like that.
I mean, it's just inspiring.
Would that was your answer change in the AK was right here?
I'd have said the same thing.
They asked about J-Lix and I was like, that's my guy.
That's my dog.
That's my guy.
I'm going to stay out here, so I'll meet your people.
Okay, yeah.
He's going to look a lot different.
just like looking at the,
he's going to look so different in a couple of years.
Yeah.
Up to,
like shoulders.
Yeah.
By that,
he's going to fill out really well.
Exciting.
Yeah.
All right.
We're going to take a quick break.
We've got some super chance to get to on the other side.
More notes from practice and the funniest thing that happened on the practice.
Really good stuff.

full-time job. You're dealing with waiting rooms, prices jumping around, hidden fees. It could be
really brutal. That's why I've been using the GameTime app. It just makes the whole thing so much
easier. I was on the app the other day looking at some Sixers tickets, you know, really excited for the
upcoming season. And I just love that what you see is what you pay. There's no surprise fees
popping up a checkout, nothing that you need to worry about there. And another great feature,
before you buy, you can actually see the view from your seat. If you're looking at some MSG

Back on the P.J. Y.O.J., let's get to the soupy chatty's.
Three of them.
coming in hot and heavy.
Steve Whitaker,
do we think this offense
will have more misdirection
and trick plays?
I think misdirection for sure.
Misdirection,
a thousand percent, yes.
I mean, you know,
nobody loves a trick play more than I do.
But,
I don't know.
Sean Manion doesn't seem like
the kind of guy
who enjoys trick plays to me.
Too serious.
It's like you should smile more.
Like, oh, you should do more trick plays.
Yeah.
Sean Manion was playing catch
with,
I presume,
one of his kids and like they're using this little what oh they're using like this little nerve football
yeah he launched that thing it was like 80 yards i swear to you because you know it's a little football
yeah believe it you know more velocity on that bad boy i mean yeah Dallas goddard was talking the
other day about how he like Sean made and throws throws darts well you remember you know drew
lock told us back in february he throws a heavy ball that's right he throws the heaviest ball of any
quarterback that
been around.
I saw it today.
I tried to get a video of it
because he,
I mean,
I was like,
it was one of the most
impressive things I saw all day.
I'm not,
it's not being hyperbolic,
but then his kid wasn't running far away anymore.
So he's just,
you know,
throwing ropes 40 yards downfield instead.
Yeah.
Rivera.
What run scheme do you predict
will be used most this year,
inside zone,
outside zone,
trap, power?
I mean,
it's still going to be mostly,
it's still going to be mostly,
zone. Like, it's going to be, you know, it's just a matter of like turning down the
notches of inside zone and turning up the notches of some of the other. So I think the answer
is yes, it'll be, you'll see, you'll see a good variety. But that's also part of one of
those things, like, as we see it evolve over the course of the first few weeks, they'll see
what's working well and what's not. And then, you know, that identity will kind of set itself.
CDP, how does Nick look? Is he in good enough shape to take his shirt off in the visiting
locker room after the birds drag the bears across concrete on Monday night football.
I'd say Nick looks a little bit slimmer than he has in years past.
Yeah, Nick looks good.
Yeah, how he called out that he's in good shape.
And Nick, I will say, Nick was a, he partook in some of the conditioning that they did
at the end of practice.
Right.
But I kind of feel like he took the easiest route.
He did, because they did some version of gassers, you know, not, unless these aren't the gassers
that I was doing when I was in high school.
Some of the guys, I think it was the specialist or the skill players did the full length of the field.
And then if you were tight end, tight end quarterback, you did three quarters of the field.
And then the O lineman did half the field.
They ran to the middle of the hash and came back.
And like all of the position coaches, I noticed at least, they were all running with their groups.
Nick ran with the O line once.
He ran the last one with the O line.
That's very funny.
So he took the easiest group and also only did it for one of the teams.
two gasses. That's pretty good. I mean, listen, he
has run more than I did today, so I shouldn't
and I would say Nick is definitely
not above pulling the Ben Johnson.
No. Rip the shirt off if they beat the airs. He honestly, he
probably will do it. I think he's already thinking
about it. Yeah, it's a really good call.
That makes a great prediction. I think
honestly that's why he looks so good right now.
He's been thinking about that moment
all offseason,
training just for that.
Diling and training for months just for this moment.
File that away for swooper. He might do it.
He might do it on the sideline.
Incredible.
We got to see the Bone Man today.
We did.
Yeah,
shout to the Bone Man.
You got some special gifts.
I got an earned Earl Wolf card.
Finds in my car.
Oh, man.
That's how I'm a chair.
Vival like that.
Yeah, baby.
The car.
I mean, my car's locked.
Sure.
What do you mean?
This is a funny,
this is a funny read.
How well did the former NC State standout fair in the preseason?
Well enough that there was serious.
chatter he would beat out incumbent Nate Allen as the starter.
While that didn't happen, Wolf did suit up during the season opening win against Washington.
Hilly fans should see plenty of Wolf in the secondary.
I liked R. Wolf.
I loved R Wolf.
I like talking with R. Wolf.
Did done dirty by the organization.
Yeah.
Didn't end well?
No.
You want to talk about the fun thing that happened today?
Yeah.
It's one of my family.
It's so good.
So this speaks to the degree to which Willie Lampkin is a curiosity not just for us on the outside, but also the guys in the locker room.
And this is like they're, it's right before a drill transition.
Yeah.
You know, the D-L linemen and the L-L-L-min are moving over fields.
And here is Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis.
They're kind of like, they're kind of like messing around with Willie.
They're kind of poking at him.
and then they start doing this thing
where they line up, like they're about to
take a snap, and then
first it's Jordan Davis, and
they're just like lowering
and lowering to see if they can
bend down the way that
Willie bends down, and Jordan
Davis falls over. Can't do it.
Can't do it, and then Jalen Carter does it.
And Willie Lampkin is just like bending
at the knees, you know,
past setting, and Jalen Carter does
the exact end and falls over, and they're just laughing.
Jalen Carter falling over was like a card
Like he fell like fate on his on his face and then he rolled over and
He was like if he told like a fifth grader like pretend you're playing dead
He just like rolled over his back and just laid there
It was very funny like how do you get that low? It's essentially like them challenging to a game of limbo
Like it's like a football version of that
And they're not being able to get nearly as low and they're just they're loving it
It's so funny to them that there's just no chance for them to get lower than him
I didn't mention it after practice too that like willie has that natural leverage and how it's
for defensive lineman because they're not used to seeing a body type like that on the offensive
line so he i mean it's hard to call it an advantage but he has made it an advantage for him he called he
called willie lankin their secret weapon landed diggers are called willie lampkin their secret
weapon um reliable narrators uh the thing about willie is when you are that much of an outlier
whether it's, you know, speed-wise or height-wise or whatever it is,
you know, there are all of these different rungs
that you've got to sort of prove yourself, right?
He has proven that he can handle the twos.
Like, if he had to play a game tomorrow against the twos, they'd be fine.
The question still is,
if he has to get in a game against Dexter Lawrence
or whoever it is, like the best players in the league on the interior,
will they manhandle him.
We don't know the answer to that yet.
Yeah.
My guess is they probably,
especially early on,
they probably would.
Like he's got to learn how to,
you know,
you'll learn how to deal with those guys.
Levels.
Yes.
But he has also,
he belongs.
He belongs.
Yeah.
You know,
how to up his game.
And, I mean,
for a guy to have made it
this far at that size
at that position,
you gotta just believe in the heart.
Like,
I will say,
it was very listening to Nick Serion
and talk about him yesterday.
it did bring me back to 18 months ago when I'm watching him for the first time
because I remember like senior bowl go down there and I see the measurements first
I hadn't watched him yet he was a late addition and so I get down there and I said and the
official way it's come in I was like there's an offensive oh it's an offensive lineman and he's
he's six foot 275 I'm like there's no way like he's under six foot I was like that's got to be
like a typo literally I was like oh he's probably 370 like there's no way he's
270.
Actually, he might
to be, he was 265.
Right.
And praise from 511.
Yeah, right.
And so when I watch, I'm like, oh, he actually, he's fairing pretty well in
the senior, I'm excited to watch him on tape.
And I'm going to watch him on tape.
I'm like, this guy is awesome.
And he goes again.
There he goes again.
There he goes again.
And there's Willie again.
Oh, he did it again.
He did it again.
It was very, it was very similar to my study of him at UNC.
Hopefully you're all going to get a chance to watch him on Saturday.
The Eagles open up their preseason.
All right, we got a few more notes to cull through in overtime.
No singing today for overtime.
Yet?
Yeah, the day is still young.
Every lineman O-Line and D-Liamen, I feel like get asked about Willie.
I know.
But they're all game to talk about them, which is interesting.
You got to feel, though, that like Jake Majors has like a, you know, like a dartboard in his,
in his room with Willie's face on it.
Everybody's always talking about Willie.
What about Jerry?
It's always Willie this,
Willie that.
Everybody loves Willie.
Oh, Willie's so short.
Willie's so small.
What about me?
I'm the major.
I think Dave Zengarar asked Byron Young,
like, you know,
was like when you have to go up
against a guy like that,
he said like it's all about
because you're not going to win the leverage battle,
you have to get to him first.
So it's all about like full extension.
You've got to leave with your hands
and get on him before he can get
into you.
And I thought that was insightful from Y.
I really like talking about Byron Young.
He's a smart guy.
Yeah.
I think he looks really good this summer, by the way.
Oh, wow, you guys are going to know so that.
Looks fine.
I think he looks fine.
He looks like the fourth defensive tackle.
I feel good about him in that role.
I think he's a fine fourth.
I think he is not fully secure in that position.
If they trade for somebody.
Yeah.
I don't think it's impossible if they think that he could get their waivers.
Hmm.
I had him on.
when I did my 50.
I think I would probably lean on.
I like how he learns.
But I like the guy.
Same.
Okay.
What other notes you got?
Oh, wait.
Speaking of defensive tackles,
let me add one thing from Jalen Carter
that we probably should have gotten into a little earlier.
He said he lost 10 pounds this off season.
We finally have a number on it.
He said, you know,
Vic Fangio told him a weight that he didn't want to disclose
that they wanted him at when he came back in
and that he hit that weight and he's noticed the,
you know, the benefits of it throughout training camp
in his condition.
that's good i know there was some like news when jalen signed the contract there was a way
clause he mentioned that he was like yeah i mean you guys all know i have a weight clause like i don't
want to get too much into all okay he said that to cut weight he stopped drinking minute made juices
wow and he stopped eating what he would characterize as big daddy meals i mean
speaking my language what would you categorize as a big daddy meal
Oh, I don't know.
30 packets of ketchup is the answer.
Lamb with tuna fish, also the answer.
Yeah.
Land with an or not.
I have a story about,
I wouldn't call it a big daddy meal.
It's a healthy meal.
We can save it to the end of the show if you want.
Maybe it might as well,
a better time than the present.
All right.
So as the audience will know,
my wife is pregnant.
And she's at the point now
where I am trying to do as much as I can
to just like make her life easier.
Not that I don't always do that,
but it's especially now.
So what it has led to is a funny,
series of moments where I realize how stupid I am, like how incapable I am at certain things.
Like I washed my AirPods, like just one AirPods. It was in my pocket. You know, I'm in charge of
the laundry now. It's happened to me. And I washed it and then it's like got this microphoneic
sound every time I put it in my ear. It's like, man, what an idiot. It can get better though.
I watched my credential recently. Okay. You have kids though. It's just us. I don't, I think I don't
I don't think I have as much of an excuse as you.
I know I know about the laundry debt.
I learned on the show.
But yesterday, you know, Julia was working.
She gets home a little later than me.
And I wanted to make sure that I had dinner ready for when she walked in the house.
That's like something that I know she will appreciate.
And I, we had baked, we had potatoes.
And I was like, I'm going to bake these potatoes.
But I wanted to put them in the air fryer because I had seen, you know, got some, you know, wild hair on YouTube.
See it, okay.
Like, yeah, you can put these potatoes in the air fryer.
So I just wanted to check with her
Like if I'm using the right bin for the air for the air fire to make sure I didn't make a mess
Because again, want to stay under the radar want to stay out of the crosshairs right now
So I face timer she's at work and I'm asking her like is this is this tray okay
And she's like yeah it's fine it's totally good
And I'm like okay and just to be clear I mean I haven't baked a potato in years like it's been a while since I've done a baked potato
So I'm like so yeah you just like you fork them and then you oil them and then you salt them right like
that's all I got to do.
And I'm asking this question.
And again, like, what an idiot I am.
I don't have to bake potato.
I'm 31 years old.
And the moment, like, my all-time low moment was, she's like, yep, that's what you do.
You'll be fine.
And as I'm hanging up, I just hear her whole, like, coworker base.
They all just burst out in the laughter.
It's like, all right, I love you.
Bye.
All right, I love you.
And you just hear like, oh.
So it was an all-time low for me.
He's like, I see what I'm going to deal with?
This guy doesn't know how to bake a potato?
But it turned out great.
They turned out great.
I'm sure they did.
Thanks to Julia.
Maybe they were just laughing at Forkham.
Forkham?
Yeah, maybe Forkham was,
no, I think they were probably laughing at the fact that I needed instructions on how to bake a potato.
That's very funny.
It was good.
That's really good.
you held it together pretty well with that one I must say
fork them before come I thought I thought you were gonna lose me
yeah he was cooking kind of yeah I was cooking
listen it would turn out good I need to give you the play-by-play on the baked potato
it was good though good yeah sour cream all right now I'll give you the play by play
I made a pound of ground beef um so I put them in the air fryer and then I did like
light butter,
cheese,
ground beef,
and black beans on there.
They were good.
Okay.
Really good.
Nice.
What else you got?
Um,
talked about this.
We talked about this.
Not empty.
They were,
we talked about how they did
the four minute drill period
at the end,
basically the situation,
they did the ones,
the twos and the three.
So the situation was...
And the ones and two is both dominated.
Yes.
The first team offense,
two plays.
They were able to get the first down.
That was a first.
one because the second down, which the first down probably was the first time anyway.
It goes second and four.
Morrow tries to shoot the gap.
Right.
And by doing so, creates the biggest hole for Sequin to run through.
It was like he guessed wrong and game over.
I think you, I mean, you said it earlier.
I think Sequin's a big year.
I think Sequin looks good.
He looks really decisive.
He looks close.
He looks good.
So yeah, situation was first and ten.
Two minutes left.
two timeouts up to at midfield.
So, yeah, we talked about it.
I got out of this, though.
Epenessa jumping off sides, talked about that.
Yeah, I think we hit on.
I had the second and four run from Sequin was a good run,
and at the left side in particular,
did a nice job on that one.
I think it was Cam at the second level of Milata,
also at the second level there.
Again, I had the screen, so I was able to watch some of the blocking back.
And then the two is, I was a little bit surprised,
actually, at how much the two offensive line
blew the two defensive line off the ball in that situation.
Yeah, they got the tank.
They only gave tank two yards on that first one.
I thought that they made it a little bit more.
They mean, they're doing that on purpose.
Yeah, yeah.
Make it harder.
Yeah, I think that's basically everything.
Good stuff.
It was a long practice, but there wasn't as much, like,
I don't know, it's probably because they had so many runs.
Yeah, I didn't have tons of explosive goals.
Yeah, that's good.
Now, no practice tomorrow.
DJ and Fran will take you through the episode at 2 o'clock.
Eagles returns to the field on Thursday.
We'll be live 2 o'clock then.
We'll have our 53 men rosters prepared.
No show Friday because the preseason begins on Saturday, Baltimore, 7 o'clock.
We'll have a postgame show for you.
Well.
Two more pieces of business before we leave.
Check out the all-pHLY.com website.
see the goat debate where you can vote for rank week.
Coming up in just a couple weeks, that'll be a lot of fun.
And then one more reminder, if you have made it to 67 minutes into this episode,
the Ospreys August 26th, come losing ping pong.
It's going to be a lot of fun.
And we have secured a very big guest.
That's all I will say.
Are we going to know who the guest is?
E.J. might know who it is.
Big guess.
Really?
Big.
Yeah.
And now I'm excited to hear about it.
Lindsay's laughing.
Lindsay knows too.
How come on the only person that doesn't know?
Yeah.
There's nothing that happens on the show that Lindsay's not aware of.
I have one other notes.
Oh, I'm sorry.
Speaking of, that reminds me.
Yeah.
Because we spoke to a friend of the show today who had the note that Lindsay's
Jim story is the funniest thing that's happened on the show.
very long time and I agree with that but the cheerleader story because we saw
Chris Jenkins today yeah right it's crazy how people you don't really know
can just like bring you so much joy like Chris Jenkins doesn't know I exist but
like yeah he does because we talked about you did oh you told him that our
producer was a cheerleader oh it was right there yeah on the court um yeah but just
like that brings me so much joy it's one little shot
Got great year.
One very quick thing, because I know you'll enjoy this.
Jalen on Lane, Johnson, you'll be happy to know.
I saw this tweet.
He said, you know, I got a lot of appreciation for Lane.
Hey, I know it's not easy to say that it's the last dance.
I mean, so funny.
He's just like the most on brand thing.
Do you think that he's like playing a game with himself when he does that?
He is, right?
I think he's trolling somebody that, like, you know,
you guys want to call me a little Jordan?
I'll show you little Jordan.
Yeah.
I think it's like, listen, you're signing me to this deal.
I am going to be the best Jordan ambassador there is.
He had on the Jordan club, too.
The last dance for Lane.
Very funny.
He did say he wants to make it a special year for Lane as well.
I was wondering.
All right.
This is just another dance for us.
We're not going to stop dancing for a long time.
We'll see tomorrow at 2 o'clock.
for Lindsay, E.J., Fran.
Thank you for the super chats.
Good to see a bone man.
Not enough likes on the video.
I know there's lots of people there.
Like the video.
Hit the like button, please.
And comment below with your answer to how do you bake a potato.
That's all we got.
We'll see you tomorrow.
And as always, we love you.
