and welcome to the P.HLY Eagles podcast on a sweltering Monday afternoon presented by
Dudette Dental and True Mark Financial, Bo-Wolf, Fran Duffy, Zach Berman.
Always good to have a nice conversation off-camera before the show starts.
Find out who's heard of meat spin, who hasn't.
And now we get to keep going.
Got a lot to talk about from an interesting practice today as the Eagles put on the pads on the top.
but tomorrow is when they're going to be full pads
but we got our first taste of one-on-ones today.
Yeah.
Man, felt like football out there.
Still trying to get over the first 30 seconds.
Yeah, it was nice to be able to, once we saw the full pads ride,
I was like, oh, today's going to be one-on-one day.
I was so antsy about it.
I said, like, how do you want to split up the one-on-one?
It was like, it was 99 o'clock.
I wrote down the timestamp of when it's,
started, although it actually turned out to be two-on-twos at first.
Right.
So then I, but then, you know, they did it in the back.
It was great.
Oh, fantastic.
Oh, good stuff.
Good, good to have three sets of eyes to cover all these things.
That's right.
Yeah, sweaty eyes today though, right?
You know, and you get the sunscreen rolling down your eyes.
It stings.
That's, that's a football feeling right there.
What's your guys, you know, any of you went hat today?
Yeah.
It was going to be hot.
How do we feel about balancing the hat or no hat?
The days when I do the show, no hat.
Because I don't want a hat hair.
So Saturday.
Keep the hat on.
Like that, yeah, that, that too.
Like Saturday, I wouldn't happen,
but we ended up doing the show afterwards,
the minipod, if you will.
But yeah.
Saturday was a disaster.
In terms of...
Just a disaster.
It was hot.
I had to take a lift to practice.
Left my hat in the lift.
Oh.
So not only was I sweaty,
but that was my ace.
That was the hat I was wearing the most.
Princeton football hat?
No.
Oh, I like that.
too. I still have that one. No, this was the, this was a Wesleyan hat from back on my sister coach there.
There's a coach here anymore, but I liked that hat. I asked you in, in person, did you,
did you consider contacting the lift driver after the fact? Yeah, I thought about it. Uh, felt like
too much, it would have been too much hassle. What's the line of demarcation for an item with
which you are willing to like make that effort to go and retrieve a lost item? Well, I mean, the
obvious ones, you're, you're going to go for a phone. You're going to go through keys.
Yep. Phone can't like, you know, work bag or something like that.
Honestly, I think that if I remembered soon enough, then I don't think I'd be opposed to contacting the lift driver.
Then he or she is driving around, right?
It's all, you know, it's all there where they picked you up, where they dropped you off.
You can send a tip or you can even, you know, Venmo him or cash chap him or I'm sorry, I'm sorry, cash chap him.
Nice kiss.
Yeah.
What's that?
Give him a nice kiss.
or that, I suppose.
I didn't think about that one.
But yeah.
There was an app that they could
specifically just send tips to people.
Tip to that, right?
But yeah, so I think that the,
yeah, I think I would have contacted him or her over that.
Yeah, I thought about it.
But your life moves on.
Now I've got to go find a new hat.
It's a new side quest I get to take.
That's true.
Okay.
Yeah.
Okay, let's get to football.
Yeah.
Lots to talk about here.
let's just play the old
give me your your number one takeaway
and we'll bat it around the horn so Fran
what was your number one takeaway from today's practice
can I start with one-on-ones
sure all right so it was just fun to be able to
I was over the for wide first session
or the second session
I was there for it was the full
the full first session of one I'm sorry yeah
because there was one period where it was
O-line and D-line were doing two on twos
working on games and then in the middle
middle field you had running backs
running routes online
backers on the right side field you had wide receiver dbs and then also
safeties and tight ends yes on the far side and then later on we got true oline dline
one-on-one's but that's while they were seven on seven all let's do a quick store crank
really quick okay of all the one-on-one drills that you like to watch yeah in order we're
going to go wide receiver db one-on-one regular wire receiver db then we're going to go red
zone wide receiver dd okay because i think there are two differences tight way yeah oh line d line one's
running back linebacker with the running backs running backs running back linebackers
blitzing so it's pass pro one I got to start writing this down there's a lot of these and then we got
tight end safety one-on-ones all right so wide receiver corner wide receiver corner in the red zone yep
O line D line D line we'll keep that all together and running back linebackers yep and tight
routes and then the running back linebacker blitz pick up okay I'm going to give it to you here's my
go for it number one is OLend D line of course I mean the easiest of course we know that you
We can know that way.
Number two is running backs past, past pro.
Okay, I like that.
Yep.
Number three is wide receiver DB red zone.
Yes.
Number four.
Number four is probably wide receiver DB regular.
Yeah.
Then tight end safety.
And then for me the bottom is actually running back linebacker.
So maybe tight end safety is the bottom.
Tight end safety is my lap.
Yeah.
It is so rare to see a safety get a stop in that kind of scenario.
So yeah, it's like tight end.
So it's like tight-up. Those two, because they're covering the whole field.
Yes.
It's, you know, you get a running start.
It's a very difficult task, which we will get to with Jehad Campbell.
Oh, you, Zach?
Yeah, I went Red Zone 35, O-line, D-line, 35.
Why?
Are you going to go to turkeys?
Oh, oh, I'm sorry.
Okay, so we're just ranking them.
That's all right.
It's tough to keep track.
We've got a lot of games.
It's a stork rank.
You're just, you're just, what's your favorite?
So, I like that even in this, you kept the turkeys the same.
Yeah.
You didn't declare a winner.
Yeah, I'll go just for the sake of, of conversation, wide receiver corner red zone.
Yeah.
Then O line, D line, then wide receiver cornerback regular.
Yep.
Then running back linebacker, then running back linebacker blitz, then tight end safety.
Okay.
So you're lower on the pass pro.
Lower on pass pro.
For the running back linebacker blitz.
Yeah.
Yeah.
For me, I would go O line, Dline, one-on-one, wide receiver DB red zone.
Because the energy is always really extra juiced up in the red zone one-on-ones.
then I would go past pro running back linebacker love those
then I would go regular wire receiver DB one-on-ones
we're on the same page there running back linebacker one-on-ones
then tight end safety yeah yeah that's you want to talk about a football guy
conversation now we're getting into it um all right so wire serial dbs uh a few
takeaways number one we saw a j brown and quinya mitchell uh they were matched up a
couple times a j had two catches both of them were jump ball like back shoulder
type throw let's still let's stay here okay because
To me, this was like the story of practice is the, so because Devante Smith did not practice.
No Devante today. Much to my surprise, I went halfway through practice. I said, is that okay,
Devante's not getting the ball today. And he's like, he's not practicing.
It tells you how well I was watching practice today.
I was actually worried that that DeVante was out there because I'm like, Bo is always right.
But you, I think over the, over the course of four days of camp so far, you have like, you know,
AJ and Quinion going up against each other.
has been a lot of fun to watch.
And it has started, in my eye,
to develop a little bit from
best on best,
we're getting each other better,
to now it's starting to get a little bit
extra competitive.
And like,
not necessarily in a good way,
but like, you know,
those guys really want to win against each other.
And Queenie gets a couple.
Now, and so in,
I saw a few of those in the one-on-ones
and it transitions to the team periods.
Those guys, you know, those guys,
AJ was targeted against Quinnian probably like eight times today
over the course of practice.
And it's just really fun to see those guys
going up against each other.
Yeah, I mean, you mentioned the fact that,
so you had the two catches in one-on-ones,
which I'm sure there will be other media members
will say like, oh, yeah, like AJ,
got the best of Quignan over the course of today.
But Quigion had an interception later on.
It was underthrown pass,
but got an interception on a targeted AJ Brown deep ball.
He had tight coverage on a play action in cut that Quinyan was able to get the ball on the ground.
And then there was another one, A.J came from one side of the field to the other, came to Quinyan side and ran a vertical route right at Quinyan.
And Quinyan picked up the route and got Jalen off of it.
Jalen had to scramble and roll the other way.
So a really good coverage from Quignan on that play.
So it's not like AJ just dominated Quinyon over the course of the day.
And like, what an unbelievable thing to say about Quinyon, Mitch.
And if you're wondering, like, you know, is there going to be a bit of a,
of a sophomore slump, we'll see.
Sure.
For him to be like pretty much stride for stride with AJ,
even when EJ, AJ makes the catch,
like man, Cunningham Mitchell looks really good.
No question.
A couple other takeaways from receiver DB one-on-ones.
Hertz got pissed.
There was a, there was a miscommunication
between he and Terrace Marshall on a route
where terrorists took it too deep, Jalen got rid of the ball.
And so Jalen was angry, right?
So he goes over and he said,
he's talking, you know, in a good way,
like talking it out.
made them go back and redo it later on in the drill.
Because you know how they go, like specific order.
Yeah.
Went out of order so that terrorists could get the same,
uh,
got the same rep and they got it right.
It's good observation next time.
Um,
Tarris Marshall feels like after, after day one of practice has been extremely quiet. Yeah, he's been quiet so far, uh, you know, since, uh, since that first day. Uh, I would agree with that. But maybe it says something that jane was taking that type of interest in him as well. I, right. It's like, you know, they used to, uh, Bill Parcells used to say, if I'm not coaching you hard, that's when you should be worried. So that's right.
That's right.
Eli Ricks had a really nice PbU against Johnny Wilson, smothered a quick curl out.
AJ Woods had a nice Pbue against your boy, Taylor Moran.
Yeah, I saw this.
This was really impressive recovery speed.
Very much so.
Oren got a step on him.
Yep, slot fade.
So he's lined up inside, gets on top of him.
And Woods, no panic.
Got his hands for the catch point.
Perfect.
Teach tape kind of plug.
For the listeners.
Who is AJ Woods?
AJ Woods is a reserve safety, former third round pick, I believe, from the, by the
from the, from the, from the,
from Baylor by the Chargers.
If memory serves,
I'm pretty sure that's where he started
where he began.
But yeah,
but Woods really hyper athletic,
a really athletic player at Baylor,
was raw,
kind of unrefined when he was coming on.
Am I thinking of the other?
Yeah, yeah,
yeah, everything about the other AJ.
I'm sorry,
AJ Woods is undrafted from Pitt.
Oh, man.
We talked about him.
You said very traitzy,
but very traitsy, but very traitsy player.
Yeah, yeah.
All right, but either way,
very traitsy player.
This is his second year undrafted.
Yes.
Really good recovery speed on the play.
and ended up getting the ball in the ground.
I thought that was a really good play for AJ Woods.
I actually kind of like what I've seen from AJ Woods so far as.
We're thinking of J.T. Woods.
I'm thinking of J.T. Woods. Yes, J.T. Woods.
Thank you.
Yes, thank you.
Who was also on the Eagles practice squad, so it's easy.
Right. Last year, they were both there together.
Yes. All right. All right. So I don't feel as bad.
No, no, you should.
Three Castro Fields had a nice Pbue against Elijah Cook.
Okay.
Elijah Cooks, though, came back and had one of the nice and best plays of the day,
caught a back shoulder throw,
over Adori Jackson along the sideline,
final rep of the drill.
Oh, okay.
That's a good win.
Elijah Cook's had some nice reps
at the end of Saturday's practice
in threes versus threes.
So him getting that catch against Adori Jackson,
both feet in bounds,
climbing the ladder,
and Adori Jackson even gave him like the golf clap
after, and the two were talking after the play.
So that was a good rep there.
All right, I like that.
Yeah, so my biggest takeaway was going to be Quignon Mitchell.
Like, we didn't have an extended conversation on him,
but if we want to get to that later,
I can leave my second.
Tell us about the intercept.
Yeah, so it was, so he was matched up against AJ.
Jowen goes deep.
It was an underthrown pass.
Yeah.
But Cunyan Mitchell made an adjustment on the ball.
Look to me from my vantage point, like a one-handed grab.
Like he stuck his arm out and brought it in.
Yeah, it was not a, it was not at the cleanest catch.
Yeah, it was, but it wasn't like he jumped up like that.
Yeah, it looked like he, he brought it in.
There's a few things noteworthy about this.
Number one, the fact that he was tightened coverage there, as he was all day, like you said.
Number two, if you remember,
For Quignan, interceptions was not a big part of his game last year.
No question.
Not have his first interception until the playoffs.
Teammates made a big deal about it.
Darius Slay, he used to make fun of him about his hands all the time,
even made the point that interceptions come later on for a corner as they better track the
ball.
But this is the type of pass that you want to see intercepted in that it's an underthrown
pass.
And so it's as much the cornerbacks ball in that situation as the receiver.
ball. He spotted it. He was, he was tight in coverage, and then he was able to make a play on the
ball. It's, it's, it's, it's, it's cornerback one, it was a cornerback one play. And that's what
Quinnian's been throughout the summer. Like he's, he's, he's, I don't know if we would say
quietly, but he's been really good throughout the summer. And that should not go unnoticed.
And I do just want to say on the jailing front of that interception, uh, to me, I, I believe that this was
like a third and long situation. Yes.
like get the ball out.
This was not like, you know,
a bad decision throw.
It was just a desperation throw.
But we talk sometimes like,
hey, just throw it up to AJ and he'll make the play.
Right.
And, you know, this is Quignan making the play.
And that's,
and so I give Quignan credit there.
All right, let's stay a corner because I will tell you that,
to me,
the biggest takeaway today was it did feel like
there was a little bit of movement.
Yeah.
And we've talked about,
tell us, you know, wake us up when it changes
that Adori Jackson and Kili Ringo
are just rotating every day in every drill
who's taking the first team snaps.
Today, Adori Jackson got more of the first team snaps.
And there was also a two-play period in team drills
where we have talked about,
Quinni Mitchell has been on the left side,
and when they're on the first team defense,
Adori Jackson or Kili Ringo,
whoever it is, is on the right side.
And then with the twos, those guys sometimes play on the left.
Well, with the ones, we saw a pair of snaps where Quinyan went to the right side and Adory
Jackson went to the left side.
And I just, I'd say, you know, it's not over.
But it felt like today was a little bit of a movement in the direction of, okay, what's this defense going to look like if it is Adoree and Quignan?
So I went through, as we talked about that walking off the practice field.
Those guys actually did do that.
Keeley and Quinyon did it in seven on seven.
In seven on seven.
Yeah.
And so now I do agree with you, though, that in most of the team periods, Adora got the first crack at right corner or left corner, depending on the drill and how they started.
So, yeah, the fact that they were mixing and matching, that speaks to what Vic said last week in terms of Quinnian's versatility.
But yeah, this one felt more like 7030, 80, 20, that in terms of first team reps in Adora's favor, now the question becomes, do they do the same thing tomorrow?
but in keely's favor and they're just trying to see these guys having the extended action day to day.
Yeah, I agree. And the point about Adore is spot on. I thought going in the camp and I said this last
week, I believe, that all Keely needed to do was shoot par, right? Even par would get him the job.
I thought the deck was stacked for him to win the job. And there does seem to be movement.
Now, it is early, but Adore, it's not just that he's out.
out there more, he's, he's more active.
He's making late.
Yeah.
He can move.
You know that.
Like he's not, you know, there's, there's some corners they get to a certain age and
you see they can't move anymore.
He can still move.
He doesn't have like the height that, or the, well, he's, he's not keyly size.
Like he's a little thinner.
Yeah.
But, but he can, he's, he's legit out there.
And so I still think it's going to be keyly.
But if I just go based on what I, on what my eyes are showing me in practice,
I would say Adori Jackson.
Okay.
Let's take a quick break.
We'll come back with many more takeaways,
including a rundown of O-line, D-Line 1-on-1s.
And another big day for Morrow Ojima.
Talking about that coming up next.

an impression of me from yesterday. Okay. That's me walking into my house, sweating like a pig,
because it is feeling like a sauna in there. Yeah, I mean, you know how it is. This time of year,
this Philly heat, it's no joke. So what do I do? Like, uh, do I go jump in a lake?
it's not going to happen. So I just got a bunch of ice, like held it, rubbed it on my face,
stuffed it down my shirt, stuffed it down my pants, only way I could think to cool down.
I mean, stop being the stereotypical dad, though. Like, turn on the AC. It's time to fire that thing up.
I don't want to be, uh, I want to waste money, be energy efficient. Well, look, instead of icing yourself
out or jumping into a lake, you could just check out Pico's energy saving rebates. They've got deals
on Energy Star cooling equipment that actually work and cut down on your bills. So,
No more ice down my pants?
No, you could skip the ice, save the ice,
and you throw in my drinks when I come over.
The same ice?
No, we'll change the ice up.
Okay, fine.
That's what's up.
All right, well, just head over to pico.com
slash ways to save.
They've got tips for everything.
Heating, cooling, lighting, you name it.
All right, back on the P.H.L.Y. Eagles podcast, by the way,
we are nine days away from the Ospreys.
Hmm.
A couple tickets still available.
I want to come and hang out at the Hard Rock Cafe.
it's just all that's going on in my mind right now is just Osprey's planning.
I think we also need to reiterate that that is the only way you're going to be able to take it in live.
We are not live streaming the Osprey.
So if you want to know what happens at the Ospreys before anybody else,
you need to be there in attendance.
And it's going to be,
I mean,
it's going to be a better experience than watching it or listening to it after the fact,
getting to be there and see it.
I mean,
every spare moment I have right now I'm thinking about some bit for the Ospreys.
So it makes you special.
I don't know.
That's one way to say it.
That's just the word.
All right.
Over to you, Fran.
So for my next one, I'll say what.
So, okay, if you go first team offense, first team defense, first team defense, second
team offense, second team defense, third team offense.
So you get six units.
Yeah, yeah.
The second team defense, I think, has outperformed my expectations relative to all the other five units.
More than, more so than the other five units.
More than the other five units so far.
Like I, I, I feel like I've been pleasantly surprised from the guys on that group.
Now, I think that's fair.
That's like Jihad Campbell, but like Thomas Booker flashes every single day.
Thomas Booker is like, he is too good to be playing against the guys he's playing against right now.
He has been, he has been dominating.
Yeah.
Yeah, because he is like, you know, a just sub first team guy who's playing up against a lot of twos and sometimes three is.
Those guys just have no chance.
We saw it in one-on-ones too.
Yeah.
And that's a part of that could be, hey, you know what?
Like the backup receivers, like the second team aren't great.
The second team offensive line.
Obviously, the add a mismatch against the second team.
So that might be part of it, but that group overall, I feel like I'm writing their names down positively every day.
I think that's fair.
I think, I think actually both threes.
Okay.
Have been better than typical threes.
Right.
In this camp.
I know what you mean.
You know.
You know, there was a, there was a, there was a play today where Siriani got mad at them because they got, they were slow on the, you know, the operation was not very good.
Yep.
But even on that play when they were sloppy, I thought the throw that McCord made to Kylean Granson where he had to sort of change his arm slot and keep it low and maybe his big throw the summer.
Yeah, it was a really good throw.
Yeah.
Kyle and Grantson had an active day today.
And I think the, like, you know, Elijah Cook's had that day.
Yep.
I feel like relative to three is the wide receivers are better.
than the twos are relative to other twos.
Okay.
Wide receivers.
I'm following you.
Yeah.
And I've then some of the,
the third team defensive backs I've been impressed with.
And there are two.
Longbackers aren't bad too.
No.
Dixon,
I've written out Lance Dixon's name a couple times.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You mentioned AJ Woods.
I mentioned AJ Woods.
I mentioned AJ Woods, not J.T. Woods.
AJ Wood.
You don't sleep on that one.
That's okay.
I know the feeling.
Okay.
And what about today's second team defense stood out?
So they did,
this actually goes to the third team,
because they did a,
they had a team period
when they went ones versus
threes. So it was the starting
offense versus third team defense
and it was a stretch play. It was an
outside run to the left
for Saquan Barclay, first play.
And Ty Robinson showed the range,
got off the ball and
chased Saquan down to the sideline.
I saw for a big guy showing that
athleticism, I thought that was really good.
I mentioned Thomas Booker. I wrote his name
down a couple of times.
And then there's another name
who was also
getting some reps with the ones.
I think this of like the bubble guys.
Oh, this is your guy.
I think this is my guy.
This is the Fran Duffy Camcrasch.
I'm not going to do that I'm not going to do Camp Crush.
That's your,
that's your, that's your baby.
That's your, that's your bit.
But the guy that I'm like most excited about,
I think after seeing them once in pads,
I feel good saying it.
Gabe Hall.
Oh.
Yeah.
I think Gabe Hall.
Yeah, there was one play today where he blew something up.
Yeah, there were honestly,
there were a couple today where I wrote that.
I was like, oh, like, who's that.
And I was like, oh, and he got, he got some run with the ones today, too, in some team stuff.
Is there a roster spot for him?
Yeah, it's going to be tight.
You know, I think when you're looking at it is numbers.
We just talk about Booker, right?
We talked about Booker.
Obviously, you draft Ty Robinson.
Yeah, Ty Robinson's on there.
So it's going to be tight for Gabe Hall.
You got to keep six.
You can keep six.
I think they can.
I mean, did they have six on the roster last year with Byron Young?
Just not being active.
Yeah.
That's true.
That's true.
Yeah.
It's a lot.
If you're looking.
Jalen Carter Jordan or Jordan day yeah Jalen Carter Jordan Davis more Ojamo who yeah
different topic I don't get that's on topics yeah Booker Ty Robinson yeah Gabe Hall would be six
and is Byron Young Joe Evans and Jacob Sykes uh round singer pal I think you could do that
and I also think it's part of the conversation of do we really believe that Jordan Davis is
going to be on the field on on third down yeah right and if the answer is probably not
then yeah there's this there's even more reason to keep a spot for Gabe Hall
Last year, he was undrafted out of Baylor
and you see like the length and the athleticism
and you're like, okay, there's traits there to develop.
This year, the thing I've noticed most
is like his hands on contact
and like how fast his hands are when he's trying to win.
Those, two of those things have really stood out to me so far.
That's a good one.
Okay.
Yeah.
I feel bad.
On your toes.
No, except it on your toes.
I like cable.
I like cable.
I feel bad taking this because you're going third in this order
and you teased it and you just mentioned it.
but Morrow Ojimo every day is standing out.
And again, like to be fair, he's going against Tyler Steen,
who's the weak link in that defense.
And so I'm sorry, in that offensive line.
So you don't know how much is Steen.
But the reality is Moro Ojamo is going to see Tyler Steen like guards this year.
And that's a good point.
And he, he's in the backfield every day.
He's just corruptive.
He's been awesome.
Jalen Carter hasn't been taking team drills, right?
So, you know, so now John Carter was back today.
Yes.
Yeah.
But Moro Ojimo is, like, we've been saying he can be 80% of Milton Williams.
It might be more than that, right?
And he had this quote after practice, like, this is the Eagles way.
It went from Javon Hargrave to Milton Williams, and then it goes, it goes Milton Williams to him.
When Vic Fangio was talking about this at practice, or before practice the other day,
Fangio said it's going to be a bunch of people taking Milton Williams' role, right?
It's not just going to be Morrow.
I think it's going to be Morrow.
I think Morrow is going to play a lot.
he's disruptive
and I've been so impressed with what I've seen.
There was there was awesome.
Yeah, go ahead.
I was going to say there was a,
there was a,
I want to say it was like a five play stretch on Saturday
where I wrote his name down three times
where, hold on,
let me see if I can pull it up fast.
And yeah, here it is.
So early team drill,
he had a run stop at the line of scrimmage.
Very next snap,
he like bench pressed the offensive lineman
and forced the running back to cut back
and then three snaps after that,
chase down Seekwan Barclay.
showed the range on an outside run.
Today, there was a rep where he bench pressed the offensive lineman
right into Tanner McKee in a team drill
where it was ones versus twos offensively.
The second team was in there.
And then later got that sack of Tyler Steen against Tyler Steen against Jalen Hertz.
So he's popped every day.
My guess is, is our friend Jimmy Kempski will do that poll once we get every year.
I think, Ojamult is going to win that poll.
Zach, we should just take a second to talk about the injury.
news today. What was that? Because
we haven't talked about Andrew McCuba yet, but I
feel like him not practicing was a relatively
big deal. Yeah, good point. So the
players who did not practice today, Drew
McCuba, shoulder injury, Danny Gray
Finger, they collided at practice
the other day. I don't know if that occurred
on the same play. Smile, Mondin
with an illness. And then the
notable one here is Devante Smith
back tightness. So this isn't
like he's on crutches or anything, but
you know, it's backtineness. He was not
out there. Limited today. This is a sign
in progress. Jalen Carter. Jalen Carter
with the shoulder. Anthony
Gargano, if you watched him this morning,
was saying nothing to worry. You know, Anthony talks to people,
said nothing to worry about. Jihad Campbell
remains limited, but continues to see
more work. I asked Nick Siriani
about this if, like, it's health
holding him back, if it's understanding with the defense
holding him back, and Nick kind of gave a vague
answer, talked about there being competition.
I'm expecting to see Jihad Campbell with the ones more
and more as the week goes on.
Kenyon Green continues to be limited with a knee,
but not looking, not
looking great for my guy, Kenyon and Cam Juergens officially listed as limited with the back.
The McCuba one is the one that I would be most concerned about, right? Because if you expect that it's
supposed to be his job, the longer he's in the can't win the job in the tump, right? Also, as you pointed
out, the question with McCuba has been his tackling, right? And so even if he recovers,
sometimes when you have that shoulder, you're a little, I mean, for lack of a better term, gun shy,
like, you know, coming in.
So curious to see what that is.
Now he was out there, okay?
So he was working out with trainers before practice.
You saw him on the sideline.
So it's not as if, like, this is something
where he sequestered into a different area,
but he's not practicing.
I'm going to give you a little gas here, Zach,
because my next takeaway was also from Nick Seriani's press conference.
We've got to close the loop here.
He was asked about that new drill.
Oh, yeah.
I didn't even get a chance to talk to you about the
He was asked about the new drill we talked about
And he said, yeah, that's the one that Tavante gave us
So I mean, give it up, give it up
For Zach, for calling that bad boy.
Thank you, thank you.
Yeah, I was going to ask him off podium.
I got that was a podium question today.
Yeah, and a long answer, like a six-minute answer or something.
Yeah.
Okay, I want to take it through O-line D-Line 101.
Please.
Were you there or you were sitting at this seven-off?
It's all fresh.
All right.
They did something a little bit different today, Fran.
He was, you know, one-on-one, but every matchup was two snaps in a row.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, every once in a while, though, do something like this.
Yeah, this is good.
It was a good start.
O'Shawn Mathis draws the short straw to have against Lane Johnson twice in a row.
I think that went about, as you would expect.
Jalick's Hunt then goes up against Tyler Steen and like.
Jalick Hunt was against Tyler Steen.
Okay.
No, I'm sorry.
Thomas Booker.
Okay.
Thomas Booker was not.
Thomas Booker goes up against Tylerstein
and this goes to the point
like Thomas Booker
soundly defeated him
the first time it's like an easy pass rush win
the second one it's like he bulls him
into what would have been the pocket
and
I don't know are you guys worried about Tyler Steen
right now? Because
on the one hand
he's been taking every rep and nobody's even
working in on the other hand
he hasn't been very good
it's one of those things where it's like
it's too early it's early
he's clearly I mean and
I think it's the weakest he's the weekest of the five
how weak is he is he like
is he really bad or is he just like he's a solid player
that's what's what's got to get answers
it's it's hard because it's like it's
I say what are there other options
right you know there now there was an interesting thing today
that just kind of story way
Darren Kinnard was playing right guard with the second team right so maybe there could be
which which I believe last year Darren Karnar had to spend one day at guard and it was like
yeah utter disaster yeah so uh I mean he's got to build out his portfolio of playing other
positions but that's that's an interesting but yeah I mean Kenyon Green is the player who I thought
would push for yeah he's not pushing anybody he's not pushing anyone right now Matt prior it's not
like they're like pushing it Matt prior time with the ones I suppose he can always be a fail safe
they want Steen to win this job.
It was Ruben Frank.
Afterwards, we were talking to Steen.
And I think he said today is like the anniversary of when Steen got hurt last year.
And then, you know, Bechton went in.
And so Seen, you know, didn't really have that momentum last year.
He has, I think there's, there's cushion here for him.
Like he's allowed to make, you know, you know, but at some point you say, is the Steen or is his Ojimo?
Is this scene or is this booker, right?
It's the, I mean, this is the,
the classic training camp question, right?
When you've got someone on your team
beating someone else on your team,
is it good news or bad news?
And is it good news that the fifth defensive tackle
is pretty easily handling the starting right guard?
You're counting down days until joint practice.
Yeah.
Great point.
Great point.
So the questions of how good is it going to feel
to be able to get another team's jersey color
across from you?
Jordan Davis against Brett Tooth.
This was a kind of like a lose slow, you know,
and it's kind of what we have seen from Jordan Davis a lot,
where he wins that initial contact.
Yep.
And then just doesn't always have that next move.
Okay.
Next up we've got here.
Got my numbers.
I've got to look at the thing.
Okay, this is OJMO.
And the first one, he beats Leonard Dickerson clean,
which is like a really impressive rep.
And then the next one,
Len Dickerson rebounded well.
But that was a good one to see.
from, from Morrow.
Okay.
Who is, let's see.
Oh, this was a very funny rep.
This is Hunt going up against Jordan Milana.
And the first rep was like, you know, in a movie when it's like the little kid is like wailing on the big guy just beating on him and the big guy's like not moving at all.
That was the first rap.
Like Jalick's hunt like wins the like pushes like an initial contact.
And then Milana just like sits and doesn't move at all.
It was a very funny rep.
And then my lot of one
the next one as well.
Nolan Smith doesn't seem like he's going full go.
I don't know if it's a peck thing still.
Like he does the initial rush,
but he's like the handwork is not
speed it seems like.
It's interesting that he's waiting.
So they're like,
you know what we're not even going to put you against Lane.
Like you get work against second thing.
Yeah,
which makes sense.
Yeah.
On that front.
Is it because it was the triceps on it on his left arm.
Is he not activating that left arm in the way?
Yes.
That's what it looks like.
Yeah, so that's probably what it is.
Yeah, boy.
Gabe Hall beats Matt Pryor.
And then prior won the next rep, but that's okay.
Let's see what we got.
Jacob Sykes.
This is one where...
Cam Crush.
No, it was raising the audience.
Yes, exactly, yes.
It was a really good rep, and it was against Drew Kendall at center.
And that's one where it's like, who is...
Yeah, if you're Howie, you certainly want Drew Kendall to win that rep.
Jacob Sykes, by the way, went to Harvard.
Did he?
Ivy Lear.
No, he's a smart guy.
Yep.
He tells people he went to Harvard, and then he walks away and goes,
Sykes.
Well, he transferred UCLA after that.
So he went from Harvard to Chip Kelly.
He had one of my favorite reps on the second day of practice.
Sykes did where it was a team drill, there was a long run play.
And one of my favorite things, after a long run, because there's no tackling, obviously,
it's like, all right, let me get my eyes back to the line of scrimmage.
and you see Sykes go like this.
It just hit his nail.
I'm going to go with him.
You're like, all right, Sykes messed up on that.
He messed up that play.
Kenyon Green did a good job against Byron Young.
I will say Byron Young, you know, whenever you get the player who the Eagles ad from somewhere else, you don't see him all season.
Yeah.
But where are they going to look like at training camp?
I've been a little bit underwhelmed by Byron Young so far.
Yeah.
Maybe the Eagles thought they were getting the Tennessee, Byron Young.
Maybe.
Kendall Lamb did a good job against Josh Ushay, but then Ushay won the second rep.
Ogo-Ocoranquo going up against Cam Williams.
The first rep, Okaranko, was like one of the quickest wins around the edge
with a speed move you've ever seen.
And then the second one, this goes to your scouting report on Cam Williams.
Cam Williams false started and then just like held him to the ground.
He would have been flagged twice on the play.
So not a great start for Kay Williams.
Ogbar Okaranko had a really good bull rush against Kendall Lamb
in a later team period, like really rocked Kendall Lamb backwards on the play.
Back to the Booker point, he got to go up against Holland Pierce.
That went about as you would expect and destroyed him.
Trevor Kagan at safety had a couple good, good reps.
That'd be something.
In one-on-ones, too.
Victor's really flexing now.
Hey, the more you can do, the more you can do, right?
At center, had a couple good reps.
And then it closed with, you want to talk about an unfair matchup.
Ty Robinson going up against Lake and Vakalahi.
I mean, Ty Robinson just threw him around,
which was too bad.
And then the period ended before we got two reps of Miles Hinton.
Yeah, sorry.
He got one rep against his Ojollari and did well.
He did well against Ojolari.
Hinton did, yes.
Very nice.
He was working with Kendall Lamb and Miles Hinton
spent a lot of time together after practice
going through stuff far field by the side.
All right, I like that.
All right, we want to give us one more and then we'll go to our next break?
Um, have anything else.
Really quick.
We'll do,
I'll do a quick one since we're going to do the break.
Uh, this is,
we've reached the point.
It's actually one of the saddest, uh,
things to see at training camp is so afterwards,
players,
coaches, staff,
they get to meet with families and they go,
they see they see their,
they're significant others.
They see their kids.
Um,
in the beginning,
the beginning of camp,
the kids are like,
oh,
it's all very happy.
Oh,
yeah,
yeah,
then you reach a point and it's usually like the first,
like several days in where the kids are
just like crying.
They want,
one was so hot.
Yeah.
And they're just like,
I want daddy.
It was like,
I got back to the,
I saw,
I saw the one kid
crying.
A couple there.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And that's,
that's always a tough one.
Yeah,
that's tough.
And it was so hot today.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Kids,
yes.
They can't be having
no good time out there.
Yeah.
That's brutal.
Okay.
Quick break.
Yeah.
I'm back.
Talking more about
we saw at practice.
Then the fourth one
of the summer and tomorrow.
Full pads.
Okay.

See this chapter report about Christian Wilkins?
I did.
Yeah.
Yeah, they're talking about it in the chat right now, too.
part of the reason he got cut is because he offended somebody by kissing them on the head.
Yeah, there was like weird allusions to it over the weekend.
So like this is the first time we've gotten some kind of detail, but it feels a little weird.
I mean, like in turn the reporting on it feels weird, I'm saying.
Feels like that's not the full story.
That's what I mean.
Like, yeah, the reporting on it's got to be a little bit more to this story.
I would say so.
Okay.
Super Chat.
From old green knees says, would you rather have joy.
Jordan Davis or Jahan Dotson have an all-pro season
with all that would entail for the pass rush and passing respectively.
Tyler Steen or Keilloringo.
I'll go the first one.
To me, you go Jordan Davis for sure.
Without a doubt, yeah.
Because Dotson means probably that one of the other rod receivers got hurt.
Whereas Jordan Davis could get there without it.
And I mean, if Jordan Davis turns into an all-pro player, that's fantastic.
Also, from a contract perspective, Jordan Davis is under contract.
next season.
John Doss is not.
So if John Doss is an all pro,
he's going somewhere and getting paid
and you're just getting a compick.
If Jordan Davis is an all pro,
he's on the team next year
and you're probably signing him to an extension.
Good call.
For the second one,
I would go Kili Ringo.
I think so too.
Yeah, I think,
because you don't need Tyler Steen to be an all pro.
You just need Tyler team to be passable.
I think if Keeley Ringo is an all pro,
opposite Quinnian Mitchell,
that's good sign for the guy.
If Tyler Steen is an all pro,
the offensive line is awesome.
Well, guess what?
It should be awesome.
If Keeley Ringo is an all pro.
If Keeler Ringo is an all-pro, which is a, you know, there's a real question about the secondary this year, then all of a sudden you've got a really good secondary.
If Tyler Steen's an all-pro, then someone just needs to give Jeff Stalind a head coaching job.
Just be like, look, just coach our offensive line.
We'll make you a head coach.
You can do whatever you.
I mean, that would be just like the ultimate Jeff Stadlin story.
Or not the old, I mean, Jordan Mila is the ultimate Jeff Stadlin story.
But that would just be another feather in the Jeff Stadlin cap.
All right. You got something else, Zach?
Yeah. So I know I've been banging the drum on...
Lily.
On Jahad Campbell, becoming the starter.
But I got to say, Trot Jr. is not, like, giving him that spot.
Trot Jr. has been solid, been fine out there.
And he got his hand on a ball today.
He knows what he's doing out there.
Like, he's not out of place.
You and I talked about the Goddard catch last week that was just over his hands,
but he was in the right spot.
And so if for some reason Campbell's not up to speed
or if there's a recurring injury
and you say, all right, can they have tried
or give you some form of the Kobe Dean's production?
I think that's possible.
I know linebackers.
Orrin-Ber in Berks.
Yeah, exactly.
I know linebackers are hard to judge in these sessions,
but as far as like being there, I'm impressed.
I think today you could definitely say,
like he was getting mixed in with the first team today, John Campbell.
Yeah, and I think now when he was with the first,
team he was always with Trotter. What do you guys make of that? Basically they said,
like, Zach Bond, you go off to the side and it'll be Trotter. Yeah, and it feels like a Bonn rest,
like a kind of a yellow day for him, right? I felt like that was part of it. My take on it was
give Bond rest and if Campbell's playing, he's going to be the, the Will linebacker. So
keep Trotter in there as the Mike with Campbell getting the first team reps at Will. Right,
which is what we talked about. Right. Then Bond becomes the Mike. Would you rather Bonn be
one or the other? But yes. Yeah.
Speaking of Campbell in the one-on-ones where the linebackers were covering the running backs,
he did not have a good session.
Shipley beat him a couple times.
There was one where it looked like he almost had an interception, but it was a flag.
He was all over the guy.
That one, I got to give a little credit to EJ because I didn't see the contact.
I just saw the interception.
E.J. said it was all over him.
I'm not worried about that.
Yeah.
Those drills are really hard for linebackers.
No question.
But just, you know, the skyrocketing up of ascension for Jared Campbell.
He had at least one drill where he was not very good.
And also, like, that drill, that's running back for this one-on-one, like on an island.
Like, that's not what the linebackers are asking to do in this defense whatsoever.
So it is even less applicable in Vic Fangio's defense.
But a good session for Dallas Gant.
He's flashed a little bit.
He got some rest with the twos.
Yeah.
Got long arms.
Yeah.
I just go back to that one question.
of Andy Reid for Dallas Reyes.
Classic Les Bowen moment.
By the way,
less has a column up on all pHLY.com
that went up Friday
looking at the 2018 Eagles versus the 2024 Eagles.
So I'm sorry,
2025 Eagles,
so check that out.
We should say when the Eagles went dying
with the first team defense today,
Mac McWilliams was on the field
as the six defensive back.
And made a play too out,
not in dime,
but yeah,
but he did make a play.
Yeah,
there was a play where they did
like a one play situation.
and it was twos against two's, two-point conversion to win the game.
And Tanner McKee had to go to like his third read,
which was throw it up to Johnny Wilson and Mac at the PBA.
We talked last week about like, all right, it was after Vic kind of gassed up Mac McWilliams.
All right, what is the ultimate upside, like best case scenario for MacMilliams this year?
But even thinking like year two, year three, like down the road is, all right,
if Cooper DeGine becomes a safety full-time in this defense and then Mac Mac McWilliams is the full-time
nickel. That might be what
the plan could be for 2026, 2027.
It's not crazy. Yeah.
I think he's looked pretty good. I think so too.
It doesn't look out of place at all. Okay.
Anything else for you?
I'll say the second there. Tari Castro Fields had some moments today.
Interesting. Interception, right?
Yeah, yeah. He had the, it would have been a pick six of Kyle McCord in the one team drill.
McCord, I mean, just telegraphed and out route from the slot.
Castro Field stepped in front of it. It went the other way.
It would have been a pick six. He would have been a pick six.
see what, but he also had a nice
pbue against Elijah Cooks that I mentioned earlier
in a one-on-one. So Castro Fields
flashing a little bit. That's interesting.
Penn State Corner.
Former high school teammate of Zach McPherson.
There you go. That goes
to the point of
I feel like the third team
defensive backs are pretty good. I have
been less impressed with Eli
Ricks, I would say.
He had a nice PBO against Wilson
today against Johnny Wilson, but I would
say overall, yes, I would agree with that.
But you know what? Even as we're talking about this,
You talk about how the threes have looked good on both sides.
We talked last year so often about how these position coaches,
how this is one of the best coaching staffs we've seen.
That's a good point.
I think that speaks to that.
Christian Parker, all those guys on that.
Christian Parker's last year with the Eagles, probably.
Probably.
Be my guess.
Okay.
Patrick Johnson on the second to last play of practice
jumped up and had a P.BU.
Nice play.
And he came down.
I couldn't tell if he was.
If he was injured, if he had like strained something on the jump or on the land,
took two steps, out came the puke.
Ah, right.
Puked all over the place.
And then they ended up practice.
So good job by Patrick Johnson.
I mean, working to the end.
It was legitimately hot out there.
You know, we've referenced it.
But, you know, if we're sweating like that, I can only imagine how the players are feeling.
Nick Siriani made a point of saying that this is good preparation for what they have early in the season.
week two in Kansas City,
week four in Tampa Bay.
We all remember what week four in Tampa Bay was like last year.
Week two in Kansas City in 2017.
I went and checked the box score today.
I was surprised that it was listed at 68 with 95% humidity.
I remember being really hot on the field.
So maybe that was one of those like the real temperature,
but the real field temperature was much hotter.
But those are two games when it could be really hot for the Eagles,
both day games.
I said this to Zach earlier, Bo.
Are we sure that QB3 is done and dusted?
I'm pretty sure.
We'll see.
Really?
Yeah, we'll say.
Is it more you're disappointed in McCord or DTR has flashed from?
A little bit of both.
A little bit of both.
I mean, Zach's point is that preseason will spell a lot of that
because obviously we'll see a lot of both players during the preseason, but...
I've actually still been pleasantly surprised by McCord.
It's been okay.
It is more than...
that he seems to be making quick decisions.
Yeah.
He seems to be processing quickly.
And they're not always the right decision.
Right.
And they're not always,
it's not always the most accurate throw.
But other than that,
no, but I mean, some of them are very good throws.
Right. Yeah.
But it's in from, from a rookie,
it doesn't like, his head is not spinning.
You know, it's not like he's sitting there
and not sure what he's seeing.
I'm okay with that for him early on.
Yeah.
No, it's,
how much to see both guys perform in preseason?
Okay.
Over to you, Zach.
So Jalen was running the ball a bit more than usual today,
and some of that was induced by the defense.
Like, the guys weren't open, and he had the run.
There was a play at the line, you know, in goal line,
it was a designed run.
Right.
But it's, you know, Nick had the,
what he would say is the annual,
like Jalen Hertz running question today at the press conference.
And so it, I mean, perhaps it was confirmation bias on my part,
But there were a few times where he he tucked the ball away.
There was a time the first 11 on 11, was it a high snap or a bobbled snap?
And he kind of had to make something out of it.
So that wasn't a design run that time.
But you saw Jalen running and it just brings to mind the fact that the last game he played
was probably the best he ran all year last year, right?
So I'm curious to see how much the running is part of his game this year.
Yeah, I think it's more about the design stuff.
I think usually if he's forced to scramble, that's a bad sign.
But, yeah, I mean, that's a, it's almost like, I kind of feel like whenever they do these special situations, like 70% of the time they're calling a Jalen draw.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Now, I mean, I was, I was talking to someone who's like, you know, Kevin Patoolewell, I was never, you know, really had a running quarterback before.
And my response to that was Kevin of Toll spent more time in Philly than any point in his coaching career.
Like he's had a running quarterback now for the year.
So I think he knows what Jalen can do.
And also keep in mind too, like the, we talked about this last year with Kellyn Moore, like the run game coordinator, as much as we the office coordinator, play.
The run game coordinator is Jeff Stoughtlin and Jalen is a big part of the design run game.
Yeah, there you go.
What about press conferences after practice, Sack?
So I spent a lot of time talking to Jamal Singleton because you don't get a chance to talk to the.
position coaches that often.
Punch the keys, Jamal.
What's that a reference to?
It was a good movie.
Sean Connery.
Oh, Finding Forrester.
Yes.
Love that movie.
I quote it often, actually.
Just not that line.
Yeah.
Just not the best line.
I quote this line all the time.
When people ask me about writers bluff.
Rob Brown.
Yeah.
A wide receiver at Amherst.
Yeah.
When people talk about writers block,
I quote that movie where he says,
you write with your heart and you rewrite with your head, right?
So I say, just keep writing.
Just get the words on paper and then go back and read it through.
But yeah, so I was at a speaking engagement recently,
and they asked me about writer's block.
And my answer was, was I just keep writing, just like, just write.
And then go back afterwards and rewrite.
So, yeah, Finding Forrester.
Good movie.
There you go.
Jamal Singleton.
You were talking.
Jamal Singleton, yeah.
Thank you.
Speaking to Jamal Singleton.
And I asked him about, obviously, Sequin's touches.
And he said that we pay attention to the touches in the game.
They monitor it like through the week and how much he's so, you know, they back off when they need to back off.
The goals to get him ready for Sunday.
There's going to be games where he's going to need to carry the ball a lot.
There's going to be games where he doesn't.
That was kind of the answer that he gave.
he said there's still more that that that sequoan can reach it's it's like having fewer
negative plays or or bad plays in there and yeah so so so there was quite a bit there uh and then
also speaking to johan dotson after practice uh johan said that uh you know the full off season
certainly helps he he was he was uh he kind of had to had had the rush in there last year he
also said that the way he took last year not getting as many touches would have been harder
or when he was younger.
But he kind of learned last year
how to handle that.
And yeah, he wanted to get out of 83 all year.
So he's in number,
he's wearing number two now.
There you go.
I did like that answer.
He was like,
I was trying to get out of H3 all year last year.
It is, you know,
the thing you said about Jamal Singleton,
saying that, you know,
said there are still ways that Seekon can get better.
It's a tough job for a coach.
I mean, there really isn't anything.
Like, what do you do?
Yeah, he was,
get on the guy.
He was, he was talking about, like, certain angles you can take and, you know, footwork, things like that.
But, yeah, I agree.
It's just, it's realistically, yeah.
But, you know, I, I did ask Jamal this, and, you know, he's not trying to, to pump himself up.
But three years, he said three different running backs, rush for, you know, over 1,000 yards.
and make the Pro Bowl.
And for each one of those backs,
there's like an A-B test, right?
You see where they were in Philly
and you see what they did elsewhere.
Now, as Jamal and, you know,
and I included this in the question
and as he acknowledged,
it's a lot more than the running back coach.
Like, it's the system,
it's the offensive line.
But, you know,
credit to him.
De Andres Swift,
Miles Sanders,
and Sequin Barclay have all had
the best seasons of their careers
here in Philadelphia under him.
He's a really good coach.
He's a really, really good coach.
I'm not going to ask you to,
Stork,
the position coaches but oh show say that that's that's not that seems like a good show idea okay
all right any questions from the chat is that qualifies a mailbag no no it doesn't it doesn't
trying to just like play like a random i had a few of the uh i was gonna like rapid fire like is this
guy on the team or not okay Patrick johnson no no johnny wilson yes it's a good it's a good
Good question because I have not seen the year to jump from Johnny Wilson, but right now I still would say yes.
By the way, just to tell the audience, we said Devante was out.
Yeah.
It was Anaya Smith as the third receiver today.
That's why I brought up Johnny Wilson.
And honestly, so let me ask Anaya Smith.
I think right now I would say yes only because of the investment in him, which is not that significant.
and I don't think that
I just don't know that there's
somebody taking his job just yet
a lot of the youth
like he's he's been active
and he's been working with the ones
not just today but like
they've been mixing them in
the ones throughout camp so far
the usage hasn't really changed
it's a lot of like gadgety stuff
shallow crosses
wide receiver screens
like it's all underneath stuff
there was a he took a screen
I think it was the second practice
or the third practice
where I think it was the first
time where I thought, oh, he's moving.
Yeah, like the way that he transitioned from the catch to get a field,
like there was some real juice there.
And it's few and far between.
Also, Avery Williams made his first catch.
I think of camp today.
Yes.
In team drills at least.
A cow route.
Yeah.
Again, I'd still like to see a little more juice there too.
Special teams will be big for you.
Okay.
Those are the ones.
I started writing around.
I was like, oh, I think we'll have a nice.
I kind of lean yes.
I lean yes on Anias.
I lean,
I lean yes on Wilson as well.
I lean no on Patrick Johnson.
Although Johnson has,
he's had moments.
How about Ben Van Sumer?
I think BVS is on the team.
Yeah,
I think Ben Van Sumeran's on the team.
He's on the team,
like fully on the team?
I think so,
yeah.
And we haven't seen,
I mean,
it's been four practices.
Maybe they don't want to show it.
It's not like we've seen him.
We haven't seen that yet,
no,
but like what is that going to be a three play a game package?
And especially,
and core special team's playing.
Yeah,
yeah.
Is it Ben Van Van Sumer or is it Avery Williams on the team?
Because honestly, like that view, I don't know that you can carry both of those guys.
That's probably right.
Julia, who you got?
Who's going to make it?
Ben Van Van Sumer and Avery Williams.
Good answer, Jules.
Julia, good answer.
All right.
We are going to keep talking in overtime.
I'm curious from the chat.
Who else caught the Savannah bananas this weekend?
Oh, how was it?
I was there.
It was cool.
I mean, I got to admit, it was, it was cool for the kids and for me.
I would hope so.
Yeah.
You know, like, I just imagine like Zach who's just so like straight edge and like, you know,
but he goes to the bananas game and he's like, this is amazing.
Oh, yeah.
Reed was asking me what I know about the Texas tailgators and I had to like, you know,
that's who they were playing against.
Yeah.
Do they, is, is this like,
They played them every time.
This is my first event of bananas experience.
I mean, I've read about the phenomenon of it.
And it was my first time there.
They, they do a good job.
I mean, they...
And he said good, not great.
No, they...
Trailed off.
I did know it was the trail off.
This endorsement is getting more tepid as it goes on.
No, I, I, yeah, it's a great, it's a great, like, fan experience to be there.
You know, I enjoy a baseball game, right?
So, but I also enjoy a basketball game and I, and I enjoyed the Globetrotters growing up, too.
So it's, it's, it's the same concept there.
They, but I, I didn't know the scoring system until I got there.
And they, they do it.
You, you win the inning, right?
So you get a point if you win the inning.
Okay.
And there's like a trick play scoreboard.
Then there's a two hour clock.
So it lasts two hours.
The game yesterday had had rain delays and then it was eventually canceled.
But it was, I believe it was.
No, like.
Oh, you went on Saturday?
I went yesterday.
When the game was canceled?
In the, well, there were two rain delays.
And I think they stopped the game after the second rain delay.
I think.
I left during the second rain delay.
Okay.
But the people I was with said that they stopped it.
But it was a, I mean, my son loved it.
My, the thing is, my recommendation to them is you got to get more merch stands.
Right?
So they.
Long lines.
Well, yeah, because they have, they had two, my, my daughter, I wanted a Savannah Bananas merch.
I should have had it.
I should have got it outside from the outside vendors.
I didn't have cash on me.
They need to take cash out there.
And so I go in.
Or kisses.
And I take Sloan and the lines are so long for those.
And then I go to the team store, but it's just Phillies merch in the team store.
They should sell the banana stuff in the team store that day.
But yeah.
That's a Phillies thing.
The Phillies need to, from what I understand about these deals are not,
like the Phillies need to allow more.
Oh, is that right?
To open up.
Yeah.
I know that's with the Eagles, it would be like if, you know,
Taylor Swift coming up, they open up more spaces for Taylor Swift merch to.
That's true.
Okay.
Yeah, because I did go to the Club World Cup that day and it was a similar thing.
Yeah.
But yeah, cool experience.
I really loved it.
My nephews loved it.
So it was awesome.
I could see like the shortstop doing like a triple cartwheel makes it behind the back.
And you're like, yeah, but that's not fundamentally sound.
But he missed the double play.
Right?
So it's like.
So it did happen.
Yeah, it was like a perfect double play ball.
And like he tried going around the back and like he's the second basement had to go off the bag.
And I'm like, you missed the double play.
You could just gotten out of the inning right here.
But kids loved it.
That's what matters.
Right.
Jay Brown says which position group is most likely to be reinforced with a free agent
addition for depth.
I think safety at this point.
I mean, I've been saying edge rush all along.
Right.
But safety's the spot where I wouldn't even say for depth.
I think if Macuba is slow to return and they don't have confidence in Brown, that's like,
you know, Justin Simmons is waiting there if that's a player they've interested in.
I agree.
And I think the other position we had talked about possibly was running back.
E.J. Dillons looked pretty spry so far.
I think so.
Yeah.
I think he's looked at, you know, we'll see how he does through contact.
preseason.
I don't mind Montreal Johnson.
Yeah,
some Montreal Johnson buzzed today.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mentioned earlier.
Yeah.
The block of the Miles Hinton block.
Miles Hinton just drove
Ty Robinson up the field in Montreal Johnson,
played right off that block and had a big run.
Good start for Miles Hinton.
I think so.
Also a good sign.
He's,
he's Dave Zengarro's Camp Diary this year,
which has a prestigious history.
Take us through it.
Well, Jordan Milata was once was once it.
I have to go through all the, all the years.
But he typically does a good job picking them.
Jalawks Hunt last year.
Okay.
Yeah, he does a good job picking them.
So, yeah, I always enjoy that series.
They get the very end of practice, Hinton got a couple reps with the twos.
I'd love to tackle.
Okay.
That might have been, that might have been how they did
Kennard at right guard, land at right tackle.
Right.
But of the four rookie O' lineman, he's been,
most oppressive for sure no doubt yeah also we didn't talk about this on friday show um in part because
the internet was i apologize to the audience for that uh tough uh that was on me i'm sorry um but happy
trails to to jordan hicks uh jordan hicks retired um someone he was here for four years and he
had two of those years were uh as as as high level of linebacker play as the city's had outside of
Zach Bond in the past like two decades.
I mean,
he was really good.
He was respected in that locker room.
And he went on to have a 10-year career.
Yep.
Right?
And so he announced his retirement,
so he won't be here for joint practices next week.
But happy trails to Jordan Hicks.
Really good player.
Really good player.
Great guy too.
Yeah.
Which he was local.
Yeah.
His kids really look a lot like him.
Really?
On Instagram.
That's one of my takeaways.
Yeah.
You know,
some kids you can.
can see it. Those kids, they looked like little Jordan Hickses.
Hey, good for Jordan.
Yeah. All right, that'll do it for the steps to the PHA Eagle's podcast.
We're back tomorrow, 2 o'clock, all three of us, full pads.
Should be a very concussion uncle episode. Thank you to Julia for making it all happen today.
We'll talk to you tomorrow. And as always, we love you.
the mayor.
