Hello everybody and welcome to the PHAY Eagles show.
Live from the Xfinity Lounge and presented by Ashley,
it was a rainy Monday, but now the sun is out.
We get to tell you about a little football.
E.J. Smith, Rand Duffy, a wolf.
Gentlemen, how you doing?
Doing great. Yeah, it was a eventful day.
I can wait to hear about it.
Yeah, we got a lot to cover.
And I'm glad because we didn't talk to you about what we saw.
saw so you get fresh reactions out of those is kind of fun i mean i would rather see practice but this is
i get to hear what happened and react you get to this is the seat that i was in during the spring when
you guys were at ota's ready camp so this is fun ernest ernest the third was popping over there i am doing
great it was a good day of practice the pads were on surprisingly yes um it wasn't necessarily
conventional padded practice i i would wonder if they will also have a padded practice tomorrow like it
was originally scheduled but a lot of action a lot of a lot of things to take away so it's going to
fun show. I'm excited.
All right. Let's get to it then.
I want to know who your players of the day are. Let's start there.
A player of the day today is an undeniable.
Should we do it together? Yeah.
Same one? Same one. Same one.
Wow, you guys have been on the same page a few times now.
We've all been on the same page a lot recently.
Okay. All right. Count us in.
Three, two, one.
Jaylon Hertz.
Jaylon Hertz was awesome.
Oh, okay.
Yeah. This was, and it's, well, oh, go ahead. You go first.
It's very topical.
you know, because I feel like there's been a lot of scuttle butt
out in the Eagles universe about how the offense.
And look, yeah, like the defense was better
the last two days of practice.
But it's gotten so overboard about, oh, like the past game
hasn't looked good and like, oh, it's been a disaster.
I find this whole thing very bizarre.
It's very weird.
This happens every now and then in camp
where a narrative coalesces,
and I find myself wondering if I've been at the same place
as everybody else.
Yeah.
I don't feel like that has been.
I mean, I only watched the first, I didn't get to see today,
but this narrative was happening over the weekend.
The first three days of practice, I didn't feel that way at all.
I thought the offense looked pretty good.
I mean, the defense won the second and third day,
if you're going head to head.
Sure, yeah.
But I've seen practices last summer, the summer before even,
where the defense absolutely, like, ruined a day of practice,
and it wasn't like that.
The offense also, to me, seems a little bit ahead of schedule
from what I thought they were going to look like.
Exactly.
After having seen them in the spring,
and I don't think that Jalen Hertz has looked bad at all.
I think the offense has been more of a positive through three days of practice
than the defense has to be given expectations.
And that last part of it, to me, is exactly that.
If you were going in expecting this to be like this well-oiled machine
and they should be dicing up one of the best defenses in football that's in year three of the scheme,
I don't know what to tell you.
And we talked about, to me like talking about the season,
I'm not expecting this to come out of the gates as the top five offense.
They should look a little bit up and down.
There should be bumps along the road.
But this offense, it's coming together.
They're doing something completely new with a new play caller.
Yeah, like it's going to not be perfect.
But today, it was really crisp.
Even stuff, well, I want to hear more about today.
Yeah.
But even stuff like, oh, like Mikele Lemon hasn't done anything in camp so far.
Like, I don't know.
Is that a few catches?
Right.
He has a very specific role.
He's working with the ones all the time.
It seems to me that he is getting open sometimes even when he's not getting the ball.
I think McHelleman has looked fine.
I think to a certain degree
they're suffering from success a little bit
because the first day they looked
way ahead of schedule.
They had a really good practice
in the opening day
and then they kind of came back down to earth
the second and the third day
against a really good defense
that's played important games together
that it's way further ahead
in their continuity
and what they're doing schematically
than where the Eagles are at.
So I think that that's a big part of it
and then I have two other things
I really want to get off my chest about this.
The first thing is like
the discourse around like Jalen Hertz
hasn't thrown a touch.
I mean, let's redefine that as Jalen Hertz through the first two practices and then most of the third as well, didn't throw a 60 yard touchdown pass while working on early down installation like of the offense.
Like working on under center play action throws and like underneath routes. Like I understand the idea that maybe they would have been nice for them to have an explosive play, but they had explosive plays. That just went for 25 yards instead of 60 yards. If they had moved the drill 40 yards up the field, he would have thrown a few touchdown passes. They had won reds.
period on the third day, but still.
Yeah.
Lacks context is such an understatement.
It doesn't make any, it doesn't matter at all.
Well, it's saying it is a fact, but like the reaction to it does, it is lacking significant
context.
The other thing I want to get off my chest about it before we just get into how Jalen
look today is this is the nature of this, you know, this time of year where people aren't
watching practice.
We are reporting on practice and there's a collective group that reports on practice.
And like, this is like maybe a media.
I think that's part of it. Media literacy thing where it's like people, there's a lot of people on
the periphery of that coverage that will talk like what happened to practice is a fact. And then it
becomes this echo chamber where you see a few people say, yeah, Jalen Hertz looked bad today.
And then it becomes this like this snowball effect where a lot of people then echo that. Like,
oh, well, yeah, Jalen looked bad yesterday. And then they use it to push whatever narrative they have
on their mind. So I appreciate the people who listen to this show because I think we are more nuanced
and we add a lot of context to all the reporting that we do.
All right. Tell me about today.
Tell me about why he was your guys player of the day today.
I mean, very first team period.
They had like six or eight plays total.
And he had three attempts.
Very first play.
Under center.
Play action crosser hits Don Tavian Wicks for a huge chunk gain, probably 20 plus yards.
Next attempt, two plays later.
Under center, play action.
Devante Smith on a deep comeback route in the outside.
Hit complete for a big play.
Next attempt, under center play action to Elijah Moore,
open in stride for a big chunk play.
So like three past steps just to start the day, confident in rhythm, big plays, chunk plays through the air, like look calm and collected.
But we actually, we also have to set the table with what Nick said.
Yeah, I'm about to say, why that's the other big part of this.
Why that's even more instructive and important to me is because Nick before practice explained that they have 10 install days planned for training camp, 10 days where they're going to be building out this offense and going through new concepts, working on the ground level of something.
Today was a review day for them.
They were going over the things that they practiced in the first three practices
and they were practicing things that they've done before.
So I think today was really the measuring stick for the offense.
Today was a day where if you wanted to say, how is the offense doing?
The day where they're actually working on things that they've had a chance to rep already,
this is the most instructive.
And I think it is significant that this is the best that the offense has looked.
And that first day was really good.
But especially with Jalen, there were a handful of big time throws today,
doing the things that he's done for the first three days of practice.
You guys are getting me excited.
Oh, you haven't heard anything yet.
So the next drill they do is a seven-on-seven period.
Very first play.
This is perfect, okay?
Because very first snap, Jalen throws a pick six, okay?
And it's an out route to Elijah Moore from the slot.
Now, Elijah Moore's in the slot, and those guys were not on the same page.
Very quickly.
Mackay Lemon was not.
Yeah, McKin Lemon did not participate in team drills today.
Lane Johnson was also not a practice, not injury related from what we understand.
I don't have any further context on why Mackay Lemon didn't practice.
You know, I'm not sure.
He was out there, but just not for team.
Okay.
So, yeah, so Elijah Moore is getting those reps to the one.
Yep, yeah.
He cuts the route off.
It looked like he, like, went to go settle in,
and Jalen kept throwing it towards the sideline.
Quinaw Mitchell catches the ball, big plus,
and takes back the other way.
And you could hear, like, the murmurs on the sideline,
like, oh, picks it up.
So it's like, okay, yeah, like Elijah Moore, like, stopped the route.
They ran the same concept.
later with Devante Smith.
Devante kept running and it was a nice ball to the sideline for a first down.
But more importantly, the play after the Devante catch, Jalen hits Elijah Moore streaking
down the slot for, and it was a dime.
I mean, beautiful throw.
He ripped it down the seam.
And so not only did he did Elijah Moore, it was a double catch, but catches the ball
in stride for a touchdown, Jalen was fired.
I've never, I've actually personally, I have never seen him that fired up after a throw in practice.
He, like, did the fist pump and, like, went nuts, like, yelling over at Elijah Moore.
Like, yeah, like, that's what I want.
We're in the bubble.
So his scream, like, reverberates throughout the entire bubble.
And, like, yeah, I remember, like, CJGJ has gotten Jalen worked up in practice.
This is the most demonstrative, I think I've seen him in practice.
It was a typical completion, or not a typical reaction from him.
Tell me more about the throw.
Was it, so he ripped it?
So it was more like on a line?
Oh, yeah, it was on a row.
I mean, it was a layered throw.
Oh, the hole.
Yeah, they'd get over the linebackers.
It was a too high safety look in 7-on-7.
And, yeah, like, so they were playing too high.
So there was nobody in the post.
And he threw it early to a spot.
And Elijah wore around, like, right through the catch point.
It was a big-time throw.
Quintessential, like, tight window arm-talent throw.
Like, it was a big-boy throw, for sure.
I mean, and we were, we get to see it up close because we're in the bubble.
It's, like, it's tight quarters.
Yeah, it was, I, it's probably his best throw of camp.
I mean, the one to Donatavian Wix was probably,
more impressive in terms of arm talent, but the timing, the rhythm, and the arm talent,
yeah, that it combined all three.
What do you make of the demonstrativeness?
It could have just been the pick six a few plays earlier.
Yeah.
But Jalen might be hearing the discourse about like, you haven't thrown a touchdown pass.
It's being talked about because it was talked about after.
Yeah, so we, Pam Juergens mentioned it on those way off the podium.
Really?
You know, he looked at, he looked at Elliott and said, you know, like what are your touchdown stats
for today?
He didn't say it in a confrontational way, though.
I want to make that totally clear.
He said it kind of in like a joking way.
And then he said to Elliot like, yeah, it's good.
We got a couple touchdowns on the board finally.
So it was an acknowledgement of what's been going on.
This touchdown thing is so silly.
It is.
This is why you should listen to the show because we give context to this type of stuff.
But you know, you could read into it and think that Jalen maybe is like,
there's your touchdown pass, you know.
Next team session.
So they had to move the ball.
Like they had to move the ball period today.
So it's the move the ball meaning like, all right, first play, it's first and 10.
The offense calls in a play.
And, you know, let's say it goes for six yards.
All right, now it's second and four.
Offending, you know, Sean Manning's got to call a play.
So you're going through the paces, basically like a scrimmage type of situation.
Right.
And in the context of the touchdown conversation, that like, that's the thing.
Yes.
They will work on, they're working on third and long all day long.
Correct.
Yeah, exactly.
They're working on early down runs and play action from their own 35 yard line.
and then they don't, if they get a first down,
you don't then go snap the ball from there.
Right.
It's a drill like this.
Thank you.
Yes, exactly right.
So they have to move the ball period,
and Jalen has a couple more completions.
And then what they did was after the series of downs,
they went down into the low red zone.
It was basically like a one shot at the end zone for a touchdown.
And if you make the touchdown,
you get a two point conversion play.
So Jalen drops back.
First play of the low red zone.
Quick out route, perfectly placed to Devante Smith
at the pylon for a touchdown.
I couldn't have made it a better ball.
I mean, directly at us too.
Merrill had to, you know, keep a quick feet there, get out of the way.
So then they go for a two-point play.
Jalen rolls out.
Sometimes you see the rollouts and it's like, oh, like that would have been a sack.
You know, that's in time, like decisive rollout.
He's rolling who's right.
Finds Devante throws across his body in the middle of the field,
but throws it low to where only Devante can get it and Devante comes up the touchdown,
or the two-point conversion play.
Probably my least favorite throw from Jalen,
even like process over results there
like cross body middle of the field
late in the end zone we've seen that backfire
you got to throw the ball.
That's exactly right.
I was good with it.
To me like this was like
Jalen between that
and the
the throat of Elijah Moore like
Jaylen was feeling it today
and he was feeling it in a good way
like he was confident
it was good.
Final team period
hits Darius Cooper on a dig route
diving catch over the middle of the field
a really good ball too
really good ball too.
And then he had a couple, I mentioned some decisive scrambles.
He had a couple, like, good decisive scrambles today.
Outran Nolan on one to the sideline, had a good zone read on like, it was like a second
and five for a first down.
And then down in the red zone, had QB draw for a touchdown.
The QB draw is alive and well, people.
I mean, it was so, you know, again, I am privileged to watch practice with Fran because we're
just sitting there, they're an empty.
And Francis leans over to me, he goes, looks like they're going to go QB draw here.
And they go QB draw on in the defense, if only they were.
so lucky to have Fran Duffy because, I mean, the floodgates just opened, like, like,
you've seen it happen in games over the last few years. So QB draw, alive and well.
This was one of the best Jalen Hertz practice days, I think, of his career to me, personally,
from what I, from the practices I've seen from him in his career, like in training camp, I thought
this was one of his best days. Yeah, there were probably like practices where it's more like
the ball didn't touch the ground. But in terms of like big time throws in a scheme where he's
doing things he hasn't done it a high clip before, like most of the, most of the,
of his big throws today were in the middle of the field.
Downfield in the middle of the field as well.
Seams, digs, crossing routes.
So, yeah, I think that that's fair.
I think it's like seeing the growth in the areas he needs to,
he needs to grow in for this offense.
I mean, I'm smiling here to ear.
That sounds great.
That pass to Elijah Moore up the scene was like the most like,
I'm him moment Jaylen's had in practice for me.
Like that was a true leg, so that's what y'all wanted to see a moment from him.
Hit the celebrate like out.
I've never seen him like that on a practice field.
That's so interesting to me.
Yeah.
Because usually, yeah, practices.
It's a shrug for him.
Yeah.
It's all part of the process.
No, he was fired up.
I mean, I feel like if you're an Eagles fan,
that's like the best news you could possibly get right now.
Yeah, they had a review day.
They went, instead of installing a bunch of new plays against a really good defense,
they ran some stuff that they're comfortable with,
and Jalen looked awesome doing it.
And you're saying stuff that they're comfortable with,
it's still new stuff.
Oh, yeah.
And you're already comfortable with it.
Yeah.
Dotting it up in the middle of the field.
Oh.
I mean, listen,
this is coming from Fran Duffy, too.
What does that mean?
That's good news for Gila Hertz.
He says, like the standard is the standard.
He'll hold him to that standard.
Today, he met that standard.
All right, that sounds great.
Really good.
Fantastic stuff.
All right.
Let's take a quick break on the PHA YGO's podcast.
Much more to come in terms of what these guys.
I saw on the practice field today on the other side.

Back in the PHAYGO's podcast,
presented by Ashley in the Xfinity Lounge,
training camp rolls on,
Beau, Fran, and EJ.
Quick news reset here, E.J.
Aside from Lane, not being at practice,
personal reason, we don't know what's going on.
McCoy Lemon.
It wasn't on the injury report.
Yeah, seemingly.
seemingly limited.
We'll see if he's on the injury report moving forward.
Obviously he was dealing with the hamstring injury in the spring.
You wonder if this is just a maintenance thing.
Go ahead.
Yeah, we'll see.
We'll see.
Kishon James Newby was out with an ankle.
Micah Morris was out with the shoulder injury.
Jaden Roberts, calf contusion.
Cole Wisniewski, hamstring injury.
And then Cam Williams was limited today.
So we did get to see him out there.
He's got a knee contusion, which honestly, you know,
I think that's probably like the best case scenario considering when he went down.
Jaden Roberts was only a calf.
contusion is interesting.
I thought that was like a blown knee.
Yeah, both of those like, yeah, you wonder if it's like maybe, don't they say sometimes
like if you don't tear the tendon, like the bruise might be the tenant like stretching
on the bone.
Somebody who is more versed in this can tell you that.
But I think that's a thing.
Like if you spray, if you like strain it, it can like wrap around the bone.
Ooh.
Somebody's going to be able to tell me that this is the right thing, right?
Somebody.
I just enjoy you struggling.
Like you're just like.
I mean, I'm not a doctor.
But I've heard that before.
Like, you get a bone bruise because the tendon, like, stretched.
Yeah.
Somebody is.
Somebody help me out.
Dr. Smith.
A couple super chats to get to early on in the show here.
Thanks to everybody for contributing.
Jake Arters.
I have a potentially dumb question.
ESP has been talking about a lack of TDs.
How is he considering a touchdown?
Do they actually move the ball down the field?
In high school, I don't think we would count TDs.
Okay.
So we addressed this already.
Elliot is keeping the stats based on what's happening in practice.
It's just that in practice, they're not like continuing drive.
Correct.
Yeah.
My slight defense of Elliott is that the stats are the stats.
Like you can keep the stats.
It's the like insight that comes from the stats.
How you choose to react to them.
Yes.
You can track.
We all take notes on practice.
I think him taking notes on completions and reps.
is actually, it has some value.
Well, he has also been doing it's a matter how you react to.
That there is context in comparing.
Yeah.
To Elliot's right, right, year over here.
But yeah, I think through three days of practice saying no touchdowns.
Yeah, it's just like you can read into it way too much if you want to.
Dinkleberg, unable to watch live as I'm at the zoo with Madam Dinkleberg.
Oh, nice.
Got out to.
Lex, Bear country.
the Dinklebergs.
But please do not forget
everyone's favorite
new training camp segment.
The Gush Push.
Got any notes on the Gush for me today?
No, but Maximus Polly.
A couple plays.
You get there?
What's that?
We got there later.
Yeah, I was looking at you.
I was wondering if you had something
to say about Maximus Pully.
No, I don't have anything to say
about Maximus Pully.
You think, oh, you think that's...
I don't know.
No, no, I'll tell you something
when we get some devs chart now.
TLM says, what do you think is up with the O lines talk about doing less diagnosing at the line?
What does it tell us about Stout's approach?
Yes, tell us about this.
Yeah, I actually, they're quote, Cam Juergens talked about this after practice.
It's something we were going to get to later in the show.
We can do it now.
Cam said that they're playing less chess at the line of scrimmage,
and this is something we've heard from every offensive lineman,
that when they're getting to the line,
it is simplified for them and more complex for the defense.
So Cam said, from the standpoint of not going up there and playing chess, we can play a little bit faster.
The scheme kind of presses a defense and you're able to play fast and not have to overthink things.
You can play a little quicker and you're making things look a lot more complex without having to think a little more complex.
It's a nice intermediate best of both worlds where we can play fast and not think a million miles an hour.
I think that's a good window into like some of the things that they really struggled with last year.
In particular, like Cam Juergens with the calls at the line, he had a lot on his plate.
I think that was a point of, I mean, just a point of struggle for the offensive line in general with the calls.
And I think that they're all like relieved by the fact that it's a lot more dictating to the defense nowadays.
Yeah, I know that this is reductive, but it really does feel like you're flipping a switch from playing defense at the line and being reactive and having to worry about being reactive as opposed to this is what we're going to run.
We are the aggressor.
Yeah.
You react however you want to react.
we are prepared for that.
The things that we've talked about in the show,
like, you know, just in terms of the frustrations for me watching this scheme
over the last few years, even when they're going to Super Bowls
and they're having a lot of success is that there's a needle to thread.
And yeah, it's a lot less taxing.
It's not just for the offensive line.
And that's why I wouldn't say that it's all,
it's purely like a Jeff Stoughtland thing.
It's like the whole operation like schematically and ideologically,
the way that they wanted to operate is much more like,
all right, well, if the defense does this, then we're going to do this.
And if they make this read, then we're going to do that.
And if they, if they're playing this, then we got to go over this way.
And if you mess up one link in that chain, the whole thing gets, it's a house of cards.
And so, and now you see Jalen and scramble drill over and over and over again.
You see, you know, there's a lot of stress on everybody involved.
And now it's like, this is the player running.
If the defense does this, like coverage be damned.
Like if this guy's not open, I'm not going there.
I'm going to go to the next one.
And then I'm going to go to the next one.
I mean, that's for the quarterback, but it's the same thing for everybody.
It's, I think it was a Chip Kelly quote a long time, maybe back in 2013.
He was asked like, oh, your, your offense has seen is QB friendly.
And it's like, it's not, if it's friendly for the quarterback, it's friendly for everybody.
That's kind of the idea is that what I'm saying.
It's like, it's not just like, oh, it's more O-Line friendly or it's more Jalen friendly.
Like, it's easier for everybody.
And watching so many other teams in the NFL, like operate this way for as long.
Like, that's what I've kind of wanted for this team.
So being able to see that, come to fruition, it's going to be fun.
Is it over a simplifying?
it. Obviously, they won a Super Bowl in 2024 doing it this way, but you can get away with playing
that way when you have a Jason Kelsey at center. Again, Cam Juergens was the starting center in 24,
so they obviously have had great heights still running it this way, but when you've got a veteran
center that's seen everything, maybe you can get away with it a little bit more. Not just that,
but when you also have like a legendary run game and you've got A.J. Brown and Devante Smith
and Dallas Scott. You know what I mean? It was a perfect storm. Or like, yeah, like, you can, you could play
that tight wire act and still be okay and be really successful.
But it doesn't mean that it's easy to do.
You're easy to replicate.
All right.
Tell me a little bit about what you saw.
You get to see close eyes on the defensive line today.
Well, so being in the bubble, when you're outside at the practice facility where the
defensive line warms up is a mile away.
It's 150 yards away.
You cannot see them.
So in the bubble, where they had us today was actually in the end zone.
So, and the defensive line was right there.
So I'm like, well, I'm just going to literally just watch the defensive line as long as possible
because we never get to be on top of them this way.
So I was thinking we'll kind of separate this from like the starters.
And then we'll get into the depth guys later.
But look at this.
Nolan Smith's new brace on his arm because he had a pretty heavy brace on to start camp.
New brace today.
So I don't know if that was like just by design, if they're trying to work them out of it.
But a little bit of a lighter brace.
Also looks a little bit thicker than I'm used to.
Jimmy Kemsky actually made that
Shout out to Jimmy
He actually made that point
I was like yeah I think you're right
I think he is a little bit thicker
And he said that at the podium right
That he's out of the ULBs
There you go
I wonder if Jimmy was the one who asked it
Because he brought that up
I believe it was yes
Shout out Jimmy
Yes
He had a sack against Mark Hell Bell
On team sessions
Right tackle without Lane
Has been a little bit messy
For two days
I do think that's notable
Was it Markle Bell or was it Fred Jones
The sack that he had
The sack he had in this game
Was against Mark Hell Bell
It might have been a two of you
I think it might have been
the 2 v1 period.
Markle Bell did work in with the first team a little bit.
So I might have been out.
But Markell Bell,
it was interesting because he was left tackle on,
whoops, that's Saturday.
Yes.
Left tackle on Saturday.
He was right tackle today.
And yeah,
mixed a little bit in with the first team.
A few times.
Not,
you know,
he wasn't the majority of the time,
but still.
Nolan also, like,
as I go through guys,
I'll give thoughts on like the warm-up stuff
and then some of the highlights
from practice from them.
Coverage on Eli Stowers in the,
in the flat and just kind of thudded up,
right to catch,
nice play.
And then forced it in completion
on a back,
side slant against Stone Smart and then did my favorite celebration of football, did the seat
belt, the celebration, which is one of my, one of my favorites. So, yeah, a nice, nice showing from
Nolan Smith. Okay.
Jalick Hunt, also seeing him up close, without question, more filling out the pads, like, looks
bigger in his quads, looks bigger in his midsection. I think that he looks a little bit more filled
out. And just, he's looked really good. I mean, you guys talked about it the other day.
I thought he was, he was my practice player the day. I thought he was really, really good on Saturday.
Jonathan Gernard was out there, like, you know, on the side.
For me, this is the first time I've noticed him.
No brace or sling or anything, which I would say that's,
if you were worried that this is going to be like a really serious thing.
Yeah.
That could be a, now it doesn't mean that it couldn't flare up
or he's not going to be dealing with it once he gets back on the field.
But the fact that he didn't have any kind of sling or anything,
I thought that was good.
So, yeah, that was my note on Gernard.
Jalen Carter, he had a two-place.
sequence to start this day in the first team period.
He gets a sack of Tanner McKay.
That's what it's all about.
He gets a sack of Tanner McKee.
And then there was one play where there's like a collision or something like in the trenches
and everyone like everyone notices it.
But it's like you know, usually people are ball watching.
Yeah.
It was so violent.
Jalen Carter throwing Markell Bell to the ground.
Markle Bell.
Through Markle Bell and ground.
Very much like a welcome to the NFL kind of moment.
Like you're not you're not taking on a.
Texas I&M anymore moment for Jalenk or for Markell Bell.
But they were like two plays in secession where you get the sack and then you get the
him just tossing Markle Bell to the side.
But this is what you want to see from Jalen Carter.
Yes.
You know, maybe don't wreck the whole practice.
Like, you know, then people will be like, all right, Jalen, can you let us go through
the drill?
But you want to see just like glimpses where it's like I'm the baddest guy out here.
And he's had that.
Yeah, he has absolutely had that.
I mean, tossing Markle Bell.
No offense to Markle Bell, but that's quite an accomplishment.
You know, it's a big guy right there.
Was the sack?
Was that a Jake Major's issue?
That was in the opening.
Yes, it would have been two verse ones.
So it might have been.
Was he at center or was it Kendall?
I thought it was.
I think he was a guard today.
Yeah.
Kendall at center.
Yep.
Morrow.
Looks good.
I know he talked after practice today.
A couple TFLs around the quarterback a decent amount.
I found during today's individual period,
and I don't know if this is all the time,
but during,
during today's individual period,
it feels like Morrow is the big brother,
the tutor for O'R. Bernard.
It feels like that's who he is.
He is most often talking to Morrow.
And Morrow was really coaching him up,
took him off to the side during special teams.
Yeah, I mean, the countryman.
And Morrow talked about that after practice.
The first thing he said is the same way
that if he pointed to all of us and said,
it's the same way if two of you guys have been to the same college.
Like if you graduated from the same school,
you'd have a connection like it's even more so.
you know, both hailing from Nigeria.
And then he mentioned, he kind of defended Uar preemptively.
And I don't know if anybody's been criticizing UR at this point.
But he's like, this guy just finished like his sixth, like,
or his fourth football practice of his life.
Yeah.
He's like, imagine if we went back to you, like you at six years old
and went to your football practice and looked at,
look to see what you looked like back then.
So defensive or, you know, just calling for patience for O'R. Bernard,
which I thought was nice.
What else did Morrow say about his own contract situation?
Yeah.
Yeah, so he said that he was obviously happy to see Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis sign new deals.
The thing that I've found interesting is he was asked if like if playing the final year of his rookie deal,
Morrow's rookie deal was Morrow's choice.
And Morrow said if there was an agreement right now, there would be an agreement.
Everyone would know.
So obviously there's no agreement as of right now.
Jeff Simmons is with my agency.
We've got a lot of really big talented players.
So I think he can do his job at a high level talking about his agent.
And he said,
And if I know if I try to do his job for him, I'm going to become a worse player.
He went on to say that he has to deal with Landon Dickerson and Jordan Milata's heavy,
I'll clean it up, heavy selves during practice every day.
So he's got enough to worry about.
So, you know, I think he was refreshingly honest about his contract situation.
I thought it was interesting that he said, like, kind of alluded to like, you know,
he would have welcomed an agreement to come at this point.
But I think we all kind of know.
And I'm sure Moro knows he's a smart guy.
I'm sure he knows that his next contract is going to be more likely than not elsewhere.
I mean, he's eight months away, eight months, eight months away from signing a $100 million deal.
That's exactly what I said to somebody in the media house after.
To backtrack a little bit, I imagine you watched UR those individuals.
What did you think?
About the effect, yeah, I mean, yeah, exactly.
So, you know, is it all like finally tuned?
No, but you absolutely see the allure.
he also got everyone
wasn't like excited on the sideline
but it was late in practice
developmental period
developmental period
let me tell the story
so O'R gets a sack
it's a total coverage
absolute coverage sack
like I actually watched O'R the whole play
because I wanted to see you know
how's he looked rushing the passer
and you know he doesn't really have a past rush move
or past rush plan why would he
of course of course that's the case
but you know like the play kind of breaks down
and then he gets to just kind of
kind of like use a shiftiness.
He did a good job, like moving laterally.
And then, yeah, he gets the sack.
And all the reporters sort of look at each other like,
yeah, you know what, we're going to give that one to it.
That's a sack.
That's a sack.
Like six seconds after the stab.
Everybody's running around.
What were your other notes from individuals?
I feel like I could save it for the next spot because it's a little decent amount.
Oh, all right.
He's got a big one.
I've got a big one for you.
Yeah.
Where to come.
I'm a guy.
My interest is piqued.

Back in the PHAWY Eagles podcast.
All right, you got me.
Yeah, that big bird just flew right.
I was going to say, that was a big bird, right?
Not big bird, but a big bird.
I don't know that big bird can fly.
No.
No, I don't think so.
I don't think so either.
No.
I don't know why you're hedging.
He definitely can't fly.
I mean, you don't say definite.
No, he definitely can't.
I'm not going to put a big bird in a box.
Have you ever seen them try?
I tell my niece and nephew all the time,
don't ever say you can't do something.
So I stand corrected.
You say you can or you can't, you're right.
Yeah.
Good lesson right there.
All right.
Should I just get right to it?
Yeah, just do it.
I'm so excited for you to do it.
We've talked a lot about UR Bernard.
Yeah.
We don't talk about Wiiu.
I'm glad you said that.
There was one play on Saturday.
He gets off the ball pretty quick.
He's a little smaller than I was expecting.
A little bit.
He's lean.
He's not,
he looks like Jalix did when Jalix first got here.
Okay.
He was one of my things I wrote down.
He's got some pop,
because he's long.
Tell me what you saw with Joshua Weiru.
He's a really loose athlete.
Yeah.
Moves really well.
If you don't know who this is,
yeah.
This is the other international player,
Eagle signed,
undrafted.
Is he also from Nigeria?
No, I don't believe so.
He's from a different country.
believe. This drill, right here.
Oh, look at these. Look at these. He's from Kenya.
Yeah. He's from Kenya. He also had elite testing results in the pre-draft process.
He's not quite as big as you are. No. But, okay.
The different body. He is a pure edge guy, whereas UR is going to be kind of moved up and down and more of, and UR works with the defensive tackles.
We work works with the outside backers. When you see him go through drills, he's a really loose athlete.
You mentioned the length. There's something to him. A little lesser off.
just in an I would have been yes definitely with the way he moves yes no question um like I said
physically looks like rookie Jalick hunt uh a couple of drills I'm like yeah like there's definitely
some movement skills here that are that can catch your eye now the outside backers they did uh
and this is a pretty consistent drill that they do uh with coach washburn is um hey they're
gonna run he's gonna have like two tight ends on the ball and basically run different run schemes at those guys
and he knows that he's coached them up
on how to attack certain blocks.
So depending on what you see,
you don't know what's coming,
how do you play against those blocks?
We were like Drew Praise a couple of times
for how he did it.
And I'm like, okay, for a guy that's never played,
that's really important to see.
He also got run with the twos early in practice.
Really?
Yes.
Got some run with the twos early in practice.
And there's not really injured guys.
No.
Well, James Newby, I guess.
James Newby didn't practice.
Obviously, Gron, so after Epinessa and Ebikati, yeah.
He, I think Ebikati was working with, was on the left side and Weir was on the right.
Okay.
So these are things where I'm like, okay, file that away for Josh Reader.
I also was like workshopping like, we don't talk about Bruno, like a we don't talk about Weiru.
I like that.
Weiru talk about.
We don't talk about Wii.
We don't talk about Weiru.
Yeah.
Okay.
We don't talk about Weirot.
Okay.
Okay.
I mean, I can't, he can't be my.
I know.
Well, yeah, I'm sorry, but he, yeah, there's something that.
You know what's funny as I thought about, I wanted to see him in pads.
Yeah.
Thinking about whether that was a worthwhile one.
But yeah.
What I will tell you is, like, when Fran mentioned him, I'm like, all right, I'm going to
key in on him for a couple of plays.
And he gets knockback.
Like, yes, he's on the smaller side, but yeah, yeah, he gets knocked back.
I guess, like as Fran said, the length and the leverage.
But I don't know, this guy's new to football.
The fact that he already understands that,
I like what I see.
I'm encouraged.
Okay, that's exciting.
Yeah, I like what I saw.
Zion Wilson, undrafted free agent,
from East Carolina,
played the East Carolina.
Body body.
Yep, so former office of Lyman,
moved over to defense.
And this past year is his first year playing defense.
So very much a project.
If he had gone,
he was trying to go back to school.
And that's why,
so that's why he was a late addition to the UDFA classes
that basically he got told in the middle of the summer
after the draft that he was not,
to be able to go back.
He was going to transfer to Virginia Tech.
So classic, like, oh, if he was in next year's draft,
he would have been probably like a fourth rounder,
like something like that.
So a guy with talent,
he's definitely not built like your typical Vic Fangio defensive line.
Like all these guys are much longer,
like, you know, have that position versatility.
He is much more of a squatty body.
It's a bit of an Alangequale's body type.
Yes.
Not quite as doughy.
He's pretty,
he's dolier than I think I would have wanted to see.
Like, but he's,
He's got some pop in his hands.
I like what I saw from him,
just kind of like seeing him up close for the first time.
Good to juxtapose
Byron Young
with Ty Robinson.
Byron Young is just, I think he's just a better player.
Yeah.
Which,
bad.
No, you know, no offense.
Not saying a lot.
That's like a low bar for me.
Byron Young was a third round pick out of Alabama.
Ty Robinson, a fourth rounder a couple years later.
No pop.
whatsoever with Ty Robinson.
Now Robinson did flash a little bit today
like in team drills.
Like there was a play
where he got into the back field.
But yeah,
like even just watching those guys
go through certain drills
and they're asking the same movements
and like the same thing
like the striking bags.
Just more pop with Brian Young.
With Byron Young also made a play today.
It was Moro and Byron Young.
It was a red zone.
Twos versus Twos.
They make a TFL and they have this funny celebration.
They do like a bridge celebration.
You don't know the context
of that celebration.
Oh, no.
Okay, maybe save it from overtime.
Yeah, we've got to save that for overtime.
No, I want to know.
So we shouldn't.
It's like an Apple Tower?
What are we talking?
Yeah, so that's exactly what.
That's what they were doing?
I have no idea what the celebration was.
Should I know what the celebration is?
It's an inappropriate football celebration.
That's so funny.
It's like if they just did the jerk-off motion.
I was going to tell you before, like, don't bring up this stuff.
You're a full Eiffel Tower celebration.
It's a DFL.
Oh, no.
Should I Google it, is the question?
No, your work computer.
You got, yeah, you got about three days to Google it before.
You're not allowed to do it.
Oh.
I can't believe that.
That's so funny.
Well, I apologize.
It's too bad nobody asks more about it in the press conference.
So, yeah, so that happened today.
What else?
Here, I've got some more than notes here.
Evacati had a couple plays today.
Save one.
Don't tell them about the one.
Got it.
Just a couple just like squeezed down to run.
No, there was one that we'll talk about a little bit later.
Here's my question.
I was thinking about this.
a lot of this is contingent on
Grenard's health
and the health of everybody else
but let's say every one of the starters is healthy
all those guys are out there and at their
at their best at 100%.
We know that like they don't get
super like exotic from like their front
alignments and personnel group
is we don't see like NASCAR packages
and stuff like that from this defense.
In past we've seen
like Brandon Graham will kick inside
like you know things like that.
I don't know that any of like
Nolan, Grinard, I guess Grinard can do it a little bit,
are going to rush from the inside.
What does third down look like
when all these guys are healthy up front?
Third and eight, pass all the way,
who's out there,
and how do they divvy up those snaps
between the 3D tackles and the three edge guys?
I think it's gotta have it.
I think it's Grinard, Carter, Ojamo, Hunt.
Yep, right.
I think that's probably right.
I think that they're
I'll be interesting
what the rotation looks like there
yeah who's the one that's most angry
Nolan
yeah
yeah
yeah tough
I mean
yeah that's how I feel
it's like I think Jalix
should be should be the one out there
yes
my eyes are still like
wet like
so many tears
I
I
ohjimo
the Ojimo one is tough
also
because
you know
Ojojojo wants to get paid.
He wants to be out there on showdown.
And as you say, there's no one who necessarily goes inside,
but you could see a scenario where it makes more sense to have Grenard or even Jalick's
Hunt rushing inside and have Nolan Smith on the field of a true like sort of NASCARry package.
Right.
Yeah.
Or like is, you know, is A.J. A. Pinesse rushing from the inside more likely to get to the quarterback
tomorrow?
I don't think so.
Yeah, I don't think so.
I think that's that is one of the,
I do think that in a fully ideal,
a realized version of A Pinesa
is the Brandon Graham usage and role from last year.
I just don't,
I don't know that it'll be there for them.
I don't know if they've got,
I mean,
there's not,
yeah,
there's not a lot of snaps to go around.
If they're all healthy.
Yeah.
Grinard's also,
he's got to show it.
You guys talked about it well the other day.
I think it was,
it was Friday show about,
when E.J. was going about,
going through the injuries from last year.
You hope that that's not the case with Gernard, but
often there are breadcrumbs there where it's like, oh yeah, you can go back to the summer
and you can see that this was already an issue.
I think the one reason why I wouldn't put Grenard in that camp of like the ominous injuries
that started last year is it's like he heard it right before the start of the season.
Right.
Now again, does it linger is the question.
It's not the type of thing where with like Cam Juergens's back injury,
that basically was like you got hurt in February.
It's going to take you 12 plus months to get back.
My conversing thought on that, though, is that that's what happened to him last year.
It was like he had an early season or training camp injury that lingered in the end of just shutting him down.
One and a half sacks.
That was last year.
Yeah.
That was great point.
I don't know.
Okay.
All right.
Any other sex position celebrations?
I wouldn't say with 100% certainty, no, but not that I saw.
Very funny if that becomes the Eagles thing.
2026 is just, listen, there's some precedent there.
Why not?
All right.
Last break.
up we got some depth chart notes and i gotta describe a play to you i want your live

Why is it so hard to get tickets
to a sporting event or concerts?
You know, they make everything so hard for us these days.
That's where game time comes.
Because game time,
It makes it easy.
You can see what it's going to look like from your seat at the event.
You can see the prices, including all the hidden fees that are going to be in there.
They're not going to surprise you on game time.
And you can follow along the flow of the prices and make sure you jump in and get a good deal at a good time.
Game time is the only place where I buy tickets.
They've got the zone deals too where you can pick the section, pick the exact seat,
and you save even more.
and you know you can trust game time because of the game time guarantee
where your tickets are legit and you know you're getting the best price.
So use code P HLY for $20 off your first purchase
and take the guesswork out of buying tickets at game time.
Again, code PHLY for $20 off.

Back on the PHLY Eagles podcast, Bo, Fran, and EJ, give me some depth chart notes.
I want to describe the play for you first.
Okay.
Let's see, because I think this will be a good discussion.
So, twos versus twos.
It's a, I think it was a move the ball drill?
It was.
Move the ball drill.
They line up with Eli Stauer split out wide in like a funky formation.
Okay.
Arnold Ebikati follows him.
Green light, man coverage indicator on the outside, mismatch for the rookie tight end
that's supposed to be a mismatch night.
Yeah.
He runs a slant route.
No separation.
Ball goes his way, incomplete, broken up by Arnold Ebikati.
This is...
Dalton or McKee?
Dalton.
I believe it was Dalton.
I think I believe that was Dalton,
but I'm not positive on that.
Who had a nice day, by the way,
but that's not either here or there.
Another discussion for you.
That to me was the biggest,
like, Eli Stowers had a quiet camp,
and I think it's like, okay,
let's wait and see.
This was one of like the let's wait and see moments.
If you get a matchup against an edge rush,
you split out wide,
and you were a tight end that got worked out at receiver
and is considered like a matchup nightmare
player, you know, the type of player with the physical attributes to punish, you know, slower people
in coverage, slower players in coverage. To me, that was, again, a yellow flag where it's like,
these are the moments where you have to win. And if you're not going to win, then it's hard to envision
what role you're going to have. Siriani talked about Stowers before practice and said what he's liked
from him so far is his ability to find spots in zones, his zone instincts as a receiver.
and then he said, and we think that his athleticism
and the tools in his body mean that he will be
a good third down player in man coverage.
We haven't seen it.
We have not seen it.
You know, it's a type of thing where I want to see him
in some one-on-one passing,
or some of the receiver versus corner,
tight end versus safety or linebacker drills
because I think that is going to be
where you can see the flashes.
But this was a moment where you should see the flashes.
I mean, like, there's really no way to dance around this.
Like, you couldn't beat Arnold Abacadio, a slay around.
It's, you know, it's concerning.
To me, like, the way I'm looking at it is,
what we've seen so far does not mean that Eli Stowers is not going to be good.
This is always a long-term developmental project.
But if three years from now, he never turned into what they were hoping.
If you look back to this, he said, like, yeah, this is what it would look like, right?
I think it's for me, the bigger concern is that it's very clear.
The first two tight ends are Goddard and Munt, right?
And then they're mixing in all the other guys, right?
So when they split the fields up into ones and twos,
it's Goddard, Munt, Calcutera, Latu, with the ones,
Stowers, smart.
Who am I missing in there?
E.J. Jenkins.
E.J. Jenkins with the twos.
Now, that's how they should do it.
it because they need Starras to get reps.
I said that to E.J.
You could explain it that way.
When they're splitting fields, he should be over there so he can get reps.
It's when they're not splitting fields.
Right.
And he doesn't rotate in at all.
At all.
And so that's what we have seen.
That's what I was going to say was that we've also seen when they are on one field.
And, you know, it's 11 personnel and Calcutera's out there.
Or it's E.J. Jenkins getting a rep with the ones.
We saw that on Saturday.
It's like, those are ones who are like, man, like, all right.
It's not clicking yet.
But again, it doesn't mean that's never going to click.
Yeah.
But if it doesn't, this is what it would look like.
That's kind of where it's at right now.
And it's an indication he is not going to be involved early in the season.
Early in the season.
Yeah, I think that that's all fair.
I just, I wanted to see more juice from him, like, from a movement perspective.
I agree with that.
Just seeing him go through drills, like you wanted him to stand out.
You know, I think that is the vision for when you draft him.
It's, I think that's the one thing that shouldn't take time, if that makes sense.
Like, he should already look like a physical.
like a mismatch type player at tight end when he's running routes with the rest of the tight ends he should stand out again this guy got worked out at receiver we just haven't seen that you know we haven't seen him get in and out of breaks with any explosiveness with as much explosiveness as you need to be that type of player so I think he's going to have to be a long-term development guy and I do think it matters that he won't be on the field as a rookie I don't think it's the end-all be all but yeah I think that it is a little worry I mean a bunch of those guys aren't going to be here right and he's going to be here yeah
Unless there's a, you know,
Phantom IR type of situation,
which I think they would want to avoid
because they want them getting practice reps.
They want them developing.
So, yeah, it'll be interesting to see that play out.
Okay.
Yeah.
All right.
That was the Stowers update from today.
We were pretty positive for like the first 50 minutes of the show.
A lot of a lot of good things, but yeah, that's one that,
when that play happened, I just looked at Fran.
And it's like, you're allowed to have some downplays.
All right.
What other depth charts are up to me to worry about?
Stand by.
So Jeremiah Trotter got some reps of the ones.
Okay.
Now, Jihad Campbell missed over the weekend.
I believe he was down getting his degree in Alabama.
Yes.
I don't know.
You know, was this like a scheduled thing?
Vic has no time for education.
You're getting that piece of paper.
This is training camp.
Yeah.
I don't know if that was.
Go past Dunmore this weekend.
Took a sign, yeah.
Andy Dalton, large.
majority of the second team reps.
Tanner McKee got the move the ball period at the end,
but otherwise it was all Andy Dalton with the second team.
He had a good day too.
It was a better.
It was a little bit better in the summer than the spring.
Yep, pretty good day overall.
He loves Britain Covey.
He loves throwing a Britain Covey.
He does.
Johnny Wilson had a couple plays today.
Yeah.
A couple of in cuts.
He had one that was underthrown from McKee.
There was like an outbreaking route,
but he caught a quick slant off play action
from Dalton early and then caught another dig rot later.
This is, I would say,
the deepest their wide receiver room has been in some time.
It's not as good at the top.
You're missing AJ Brown.
But wide receivers four through nine on the roster right now
are better than I can remember them being in a very long time.
Yeah, I agree.
I mean, like, Darius Cooper is like fighting.
I said, I think it was on Saturday show.
I think he is like firmly the fifth best receiver on the
roster, but like they have good guys in that range.
Elijah Moore, you got one.
Speaking of that, let's get to the Hand Your Delft presented by our friends at Parks
Casino after the big catch from Elijah Moore today.
I've got three of the sort of scrap heap veterans that they signed this off season.
Who do you think among them has the biggest chance to make an actual impact on the season
this year, Elijah Moore, Jonathan Jones in the secondary or AJ Epinessa on the defensive law?
Are we picking based off who we think it's going to be
or who they would want it to be?
That's a good question.
That's a different question.
Yeah.
Who do you think they wanted to be?
I think they'd want it to be Elijah Moore.
Right.
Just because it's the position they could use
the most floor raising.
They could use a player that raises the floor more there
that I think they could at Edge or in the secondary.
And he needs to beat out Hollywood Brown.
That's who he needs.
He's not fighting with Johnny Wilson.
And Starius Cooper.
I think he's fighting with Hollywood Brown.
Also, they could, I mean, they could keep six.
They could do that, yeah.
Yeah, but if you told me that Elijah Moore was like their third or fourth receiver
and you felt like good about him in that role.
Yeah.
And he's contributing and productive.
I think he's not a returner, which he would think he should be.
He's not getting reps there.
He's not getting reps there.
Right.
And I agree with Big Man in the comments.
Darius Cooper is a better player.
I agree.
I think if they could pick.
Yeah, I mean, it might be nice if Epinessa was a,
was a real right it'd be nice yeah i think the guy most likely to make it is jones i think that's right
i think the guy most likely to make it as jones as your fourth corner i think that's probably right
he did have a defensive holding call on the back of the end zone in the red zone period today
against so the couple of guys had the jerseys hiked up today so that you couldn't see the full
number i don't like that quez might as well have not been wearing a jersey today so but you know
Quess his body type.
Yeah, but still, it's just like,
and he's filtered through a bunch of numbers.
He's showing up.
Yeah.
He's been a decent camp.
All right.
I like a quest.
On the hand you're dealt,
presented by Parks Casino.
Speaking of cornerback four
and guys in the secondary,
I'm not,
I wouldn't,
I'm not picking anybody yet.
If I had to pick a guy
who has moved the needle
for me the most
through the first three days of camp,
it was Mack McWilliams.
Mac McWilliams had a really good day
on Saturday.
Yeah.
Two of them were PBOs against Eli Stowers,
and the context they're giving us now of him going up against Epicady
and not getting open is important there.
There was a play where he really impressed me.
He was guarding Devante Smith,
and there's this motion going on.
He and Cooper DeGene pass off who they're covering.
He ends up on Devante.
It's kind of a tight split,
and Devante runs kind of a slant,
and Jalen wants to throw.
the ball there and Mac McWilliams has a covered.
So then the play continues and Geelan rolls out left and DeVante's crossing the field
and completes the ball to Devante Smith on Mac McWilliams.
You're not really expecting him to run with him across the entire field on kind of a busted
play.
But the fact that he had that initial move locked down, I was impressed by.
I think that and it's also you think about that's a position where it is a little bit
developmental, year one, two, jump.
I think there's a chance Macon Williams could be.
a real player for them.
Flash Darling Camp last year
and that praise,
the public praise from Vigangio.
And I think that
Jonathan Jones is a good player
for him to learn under similar skill set.
That's typically what you like for the young guys.
And the two of them are doing the same thing right now
where they're going inside outside.
Yep.
With the twos.
I don't hate that.
He did give up some catches today.
Mackman Williams did.
But yeah,
I did think that he had a nice day on Saturday.
Okay.
I agree with that.
Max,
Maximus Desimus Pulley did have a couple of plays today.
There was a throw to Eric Azucanma in seven-on-seven.
He came down with a PBU,
forced the incompletion.
And then he had an interception right in front of EJ and I
to end to move the ball period,
right in the back of the end zone,
got both feet in.
Nice play.
It was like a scramble drill type of situation.
Yeah, McKee, it was like Kim just throwing up a prayer.
I know one of the GGM is a big Maximus Pullie fan.
Oh, really?
on his ball.
Yeah, no, it was a nice play.
Again, kind of like a throwaway kind of deal.
That interception aside, even,
like it wasn't a great Tanner McKee Day.
He just didn't get a ton of reps,
and he had a few, I had him down
for a really poorly underthrown pass
to Johnny Wilson at the end of practice.
It was just, I think it was on a crosser.
And I did note that Jeremiah Trotter Jr. blitzed on that play.
I found interesting.
They're doing the developmental period.
Yeah, it was during developmental period.
developmental period, pretty sure.
Or no, it might have been special teams.
So close confines in the bubble, right?
So there's all kinds of stuff going around.
The media's all kind of corralled in one spot.
Devante wanted to do some work on the jugs machine during practice.
So PR comes over and they're like, guys, like, hey, you know, heads up.
E.J. and I, like, he was like, look, if you want to stand here, just be, just be aware.
Put our trust to Devante.
Not one ball got through.
You're good.
Went through his, went through his, his cadence.
going through the jugs.
Okay.
He would change.
You want to know what it's like to be inches from Devante Smith catching the jugs,
keeping your head safe, you can find out in Devante time.
Okay, go ahead.
So Devante Smith would change his like, all right, I'm gonna be face up, all right, now
I'm gonna go, I'm gonna look left and then, you know, I'm gonna do, but everything was in 10
past sequences or like cadence.
So it's like, you caught that.
So it's like 10, 10, 10, 10, yeah.
So it had 20,000.
balls in the bucket. He would do 10 from one spot, then adjust and do 10, and then he would switch
with the trainer, would get the, get the balls back. But yeah, he did some on the front side hip,
backside hip, then flip around, go the other way, front side hip, backside hip, square up. Not one ball hit
the ground. Nothing got through to put EJ and I in harm's way. It's not something that we're going to
talk about every single show, but Devante's just looked really good at this camp. You know,
going up against Quinion more often, and he just, he looks like a number one wide receiver. He
exactly how you would have expected.
Okay.
Good player.
That Devonthe Smith.
He's a good player.
I think that's all my notes.
I think that might be all mine too.
Dalton had a good day.
I'm looking at just a handful of completions.
Wait, was there a Colpade and throw the day?
He had a touchdown.
Of course it is.
I didn't write in my notes here.
I have it in my notes out there.
I didn't bring my notebook in.
Yeah, it was a
it was a double catch.
But he put it on the guy.
It was, I can't pronounce his last name.
I'm going to mess it up.
Azucanma.
Yes.
Yes.
He had a double catch, double catch in the back of the end zone.
Yeah.
Azuccava, former fourth round pick.
So, you know, a guy with some draft pedigree there from Miami from the Miami Dolphins a couple years ago.
I had something.
Oh, Tank Bigsby, the wheel route.
I'm going to, I'm going to.
Oh, that's a good one.
Yeah.
See the Florida you on it, but yeah.
No, it's it.
Basically, it was one of the team sessions.
They ran a wheel route to tank Biggsby.
He fell incomplete.
Yeah.
But.
it was similar-ish
to the play they ran to Sequin
for the touchdown in Brazil.
Yeah.
And it's, to me,
I think we could pump the brakes on like the hype
for Bigsby.
I'm sorry.
Personally, like, I think we've, like,
he's been good.
Like, it's been fine.
Like, it looks good.
But I don't think we need to go,
like, oh, like, you know,
he's been amazing and like,
he's been good.
Yeah.
And I'm not making anything out of the fact
that they ran the wheel route to Bigsby.
I think it's just important to note
that,
that's in the toolbox.
Yeah.
Like the wheel, like, when you talk about like running,
we talked about this the other day when it comes to, like,
oh, are the running backs going to be more involved with the past game?
It's threefold, right?
It's the checkdowns from the quarterback.
How often does he get to the checkdown?
It's the screen game.
And then it's like, to me,
the stuff that really, like, unlocks it is utilizing those guys
as primary options in the past game down the field,
whether it's wheel routes, the Texas routes over the middle,
like things like that where it's like,
we are designing things specifically for the running back
and the drop back pass game.
So the fact that they had that wheel route in
at this early stage of camp, I thought it was notable.
There was a fun route from,
I don't remember which running back it was.
Maybe you do, Fran.
It was like a flat route.
So they were like flattened it out
toward the pylon and red zone.
And they broke it off and cut back in.
It was almost like it was similar to a Texas route,
but like one where you go all the way to the sideline
and then cut it back.
I like that.
I enjoyed that.
I don't think I've seen that from the Eagles before.
And Chipley had a bunch of catches today.
And you agree with the Bigsbee.
pumped a brakes. Oh, yes. Let's go back to that for a second. Tank Bigsby, Nick Sierraani told us he's
like a practice player. Like he is not to say he's not a game player too, but he's like an effort guy
in practice. He brings a lot of juice. So we knew going into camp. I think I said it in the lead
up to the camp. Like, I think Tank Bigsby is going to be really fun to watch in training camp. And he is.
But like let's go back to what we said earlier in the show where there's a couple things that
trickle out from camp and then that kind of becomes like a conversation. And I think it goes too far.
like Tank Bigsby splitting reps with Saquan Barclay on the first four days of training camp
probably is more about just managing the Saquan Berkeley's workload than it is about like
Tank Bigsby is going to be splitting time with Saquan Barclay in the backfield.
I understand like the fantasy football implication.
I think Tank Biggsby will be an awesome handcuff player for you in fantasy football.
But like, yeah, we need to pump the brakes on the idea that like he's going to eat into
Saquan Barclay's workload in this offense when they actually are playing games.
I think that that is overstated.
If you're playing meaningful snaps,
you're not taking Sequin Barclay off the field for Tank Bigsby.
He's a fun player to watch and practice.
Like, I'm not trying to pour cold water on the Tank Bigsby thing.
Just like he has a narrow pathway to actually being on the field.
Well, yeah, I mean, what's the realistic six touches in a game?
Like, yeah.
Right.
Max?
Right.
If the offense is operating at full tilt and they're putting up,
and it looks like 20.
24 and they're putting up points on people and you get into your like mop up duty at the end of games. That's great.
Or even if it's like, hey, like they're up by 10 in the second quarter and it's, you know, you just had a 10 play drive.
All right, yeah, like we'll spell them with Bigsby. Yeah. Like those guys. But if you're having, honestly, like games like last year where the offense is hurting, like you're not taking Seekwan off the field for tank Biggsby.
Eiffel Stowers. Something? I hope not.
Could be.
Good be.
All right.
Wait, one more thing, one more thing, one more thing, one more thing.
During the aftermath of next press conference, you and I had another moment.
We had like a bread time moment.
We did have a bread time.
I can't remember what it was, though.
It was Phillies made a trade.
Oh, yeah, we both said Phillies made a trade.
And then the funny thing is we looked at each other and we both said bread time at the same exact time.
So something weird's going on right now.
Oh, I didn't tell you this.
This is the third part of this.
Lindsay texted me.
She says like what should the thumbnail be for the show today?
And before I got a chance to answer, she said, oh, never mind, Bo did it.
And I knew that you were doing the Philly show.
So I said, we really got to make sure we lean into Jalen today.
And she's like, oh, Bo already did that.
That was bread time.
And Maker.
One year in, almost the one year anniversary.
You guys are.
And you know what?
Speaking of which, friend, don't forget, we got the Ospreys coming up on August 26th, Wednesday night at the Hitler Club.
Special guests, music, nudity, whatever you need, we will have it there at the Osprey.
Check out the tickets, make it happen.
VIP, you get a meetup, buffet, a couple drink tickets.
Like an after, we're going to an after party too?
Your house.
I know that's not right.
All right.
We believe tomorrow is going to be the first real.
padded practice of the summer.
Weather permitting.
We're going to get one-on-one?
Oh, please.
So they did the seven-on-seven today.
The O-line and D-line were together.
And you're like, oh, here we go, here we go.
But they were on the other, so we were caroled on one side,
and they were surrounded.
So we couldn't tell, is it one-on-ones?
Is it two-on-two?
But they were together.
I don't know if it was one-on-one.
I'm just going to manifest that it was two-on-twos.
Yeah.
So we didn't miss one-on-ones.
That's always, like, the biggest letdown in camp.
When you go over there, you run over to the other.
field as you can watch one-on-ones and they're doing two v-2s working on stunts.
So make sure that you join us for tomorrow show at 2 o'clock.
And that's all we got.
Thank you, Lindsay.
Thank you, E.J., thank you, Fran.
It's kind of fun.
I'll not know what happened in practice and then find out from you guys.
Now I'd rather watch practice.
But still, good stuff.
Thanks, everybody.
Comment below what your favorite European landmark is.
And we will see us.
tomorrow at two o'clock as always we love you all silly like the mayor
