PHLY Philadelphia Eagles Podcast - Eagles Training Camp, Day 7: Birthday Boy Jalen Hurts Keeps Finding Darius Cooper | PHLY Eagles

Episode Date: August 7, 2026

Jalen Hurts is 28, which might just be how many catches Darius Cooper had in practice on a sweltering Friday in Philadelphia as Lane Johnson returned, DeVonta Smith and Makai Lemon remained sidelined ...and the defense held up its end of the bargain. EJ Smith and Bo Wulf run through the players who have raised their stock the most through camp thus far.    Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Starting point is 00:00:01 Hello, everybody, and welcome to the P.H.O.I. Eagles podcast on a beautiful Jalen Hertz's birthday. Live from the Xfinity Lounge and presented by Ashley Boat Wolf and E.J. Smith, a lot to tell you about. Intense practice today. Very hot. All the stars were out. I'll tell you all about that. Lots of good stuff to get to. We'll give you some big picture takeaways on stock up, stock down over the course of camp. Lots to bring you, but I do have to start, E.J. No show yesterday. No show yesterday, yes. But Lindsay and I took a little field trip.
Starting point is 00:00:39 Oh, yeah. Go check out the Fittler Club where we are having the Ospreys in two and a half weeks. August 26th, 7 o'clock. And boy, were we blown away by the space? If you are in the area, if you are anywhere close to the area, you have got to be there on August 26. Why? Several reasons. One, it's E.J.'s birthday. Do you like E.J.? Do you care about E.J.? Do you want to make him feel good on his birthday? Yes, you do. Well, uncomfortable here. You do. And if you don't go, it means that you don't like E.J.
Starting point is 00:01:17 And that's not very nice. Well, what if they don't like me? Look at this guy. He's lovable. If you don't, if you don't like me, you should still come to the Ospreys. And by the way, that's true. But if you like you, you have to come. Speaking of liking things, let's just say at the top of the show, because we saw what you guys were capable of again we mentioned that you know it's it's a violation to not like the video before you you even watch the video just give us a little bit of support i'm going to say it at the top of today's show too please like the video it helps us out a lot you know we're we're at training camp sweating we know we're writing down our notes i my pens running because i'm sweaty let's give
Starting point is 00:01:48 us a like it helps us out lindsay and i have some some ideas oh yeah it's going to be a fun evening it's going to all the star is you thought today's practice was star studded we're talking you know the who's who of the PHA by greater extended universe will be there some people that you will be excited to see you're going to have some giveaways we are going to make it worth your while but if you really consider yourself a fan of this show at all and you're even within the possible range of getting there we need you there shout out to cousin grace says tickets purchased bang love it love it when the when the real sickos you know the people we see in the chat every day. When they let us know they're going to be there, it gets me all excited.
Starting point is 00:02:31 Well, I walked out from touring it with Lindsay and ran into two sickos on the street. Oh, did you really? Fantastic. And I told them they got to go and they want to know what we're going to do in London. So, great to see them. Make it happen. It's the community. Okay. Lane Johnson's back. Yeah, Lane Johnson is back. After missing four practices, Lane was present for today's practice. I think all Eagles fans can exhale now after, you know, there's a lot of uncertainty. Again, he had a non-injury-related excused absence for those four practices. But back today, I don't have too many details. We didn't hear from Lane.
Starting point is 00:03:10 Nick Siriani, we heard from him before practice. He didn't really want to get into what Lane situation was and whether or not it would affect him moving forward. But again, I think it's fair to say, exhale, Lane Johnson is back. It was noteworthy, though. He did not participate in team drills at all today. Yeah, that was a little bit interesting. Yeah, it was interesting. I mean, I think you could, you could project and guess that maybe he was out of, he's a little bit out of shape after missing a week.
Starting point is 00:03:38 Maybe that's it. Maybe it was something else. You know, I think that it would be good to get some clarity on that eventually. But, yeah, just the fact that he was at practice today, I think that does, you know, quiet some of the more extreme worries that people had while he was, while he was away. Now, meanwhile, Cam Juergens left practice today and walked off and went in. side. We don't have any word on what happened there. Didn't look serious. I was going to say, like, I hate to say this because you never know, but he didn't walk off
Starting point is 00:04:07 with a noticeable limp or anything. It didn't seem like he was really hurting, but again, he didn't come back. So we'll see what the injury report tells us there tomorrow. I have one more Osprey's thing. Okay. By the way. After the show, we have an after party situation going on. There's the VIP tickets where you get a buffet, you get drink tickets.
Starting point is 00:04:29 to get better seats. But after the event, we have access to their, their, like, special area where they've got bowling alleys, ping pong table, pool table. Listen, you want to come get your ass kicked in ping pong?
Starting point is 00:04:47 I was just about to say, bring it on. If you want to know what my life is like on this show with Bo being, like, maniacally competitive and stubborn, go see about him on the pool table or, you know, any of these games. I'm sure you will have a great time because Bo is a great time, but you'll also probably have a terrible time.
Starting point is 00:05:06 We'll do some people ways for whoever can beat me in ping pong. It'll be nobody, right? That's what you're going to say. Well, then whoever comes the closest. Some other news from practice. We had some celebrity guests at practice today. Well, this was fun. Big names.
Starting point is 00:05:21 Why don't you give us the biggest name first, and then I'm going to tell you the other thing that was fun to see. The biggest name for Philadelphia? Oh, yeah. The big guy, the tall guy. Jaylen Brown was at practice. J.B. J.B. 7.
Starting point is 00:05:33 You know, he's walking around Philadelphia. We had the, if you haven't checked out the press conference that we broadcast on P.H.O.I. Sports on the YouTube channel, you should check that out. Yeah, it was good to see Jalen Brown. I will be honest, I didn't know who it was at first. I thought it was Tori Smith because I didn't actually know. And I said, yes, Tori Smith is here, but he's over there. I didn't even know Terry Smith was there.
Starting point is 00:05:52 And then I was like, oh, when I saw Torres Smith, it was from quite a distance. Yeah, we were far away. I promise. I'm not saying that these guys actually look like each other. But when I saw Tory Smith and I looked back at Jalen Brown, I'm like, that guy's way bigger than Tori Smith. So yeah, it was cool. We got to see Jalen, Jalen Hertz and Jalen Brown talking.
Starting point is 00:06:07 Jalen Brown. You mentioned Tori Smith. I believe Trick Williams, the wrestler was there. But then there was a great scene during warmups where truly two goats having a discussion in two different places. So to my left over here, you've got Howie Roseman talking to Theo Epstein. Yep. okay and they're talking about who's the best general manager of you know the century whatever
Starting point is 00:06:33 and then over here you've got jason kelsey talking to willie lampkin and they're talking about who's the best center in egos history i mean maybe one day we will be having that conversation fantastic probably not i mean i love i love a willie lambkin but we got to show jason kelter today was a big willy lampkin day we will get to that i've said this on the show a bunch of times about jason kelsey well, at least I feel like I've said it a bunch of times. It's a shame that that guy is so talented because he is just so at home on a football field hanging out with the offensive line.
Starting point is 00:07:05 Yeah. Like I don't want to diminish anything. Like he's incredibly talented. Like he is, he could be a head coach. But like, there's a part of him that is just the most, the world's most ideal offensive line coach. Like when he is there, he looks like,
Starting point is 00:07:20 you know, what is the expression? It's like you in Studio B, baby. you're right here in the Xfinity yeah he looks just like what is it like a blank to water what is it somebody help me out it's like he's like a fish to water or something like that
Starting point is 00:07:36 he's just right at home so somebody will help me with that one okay thanks a lot all right you want to go player of the day and then we'll filter that down from there I'd love to
Starting point is 00:07:51 you go first my player of the day might be yours two. Darius Cooper. Oh. A little synergy. A little synergy today.
Starting point is 00:08:00 My player of the day today is Darius Cooper. Okay. Okay. Wow. You know, I wrote in my notebook at one point today, death taxes, Darius Cooper on a dig route. It feels like every single practice,
Starting point is 00:08:17 this guy is making catches between the hasses, especially on dig routes, which I think is significant because it shows the trust that the quarterbacks have in him. You know, like they're throwing. on that ball before he gets out of his break, and they know that he's going to win to the inside. And if he doesn't win to the inside, we heard from Nick Siriani before practice, Darius Cooper's going to win at the catch point.
Starting point is 00:08:34 He's going to win through it with a contested catch because he has a physicality that defies his frame. Obviously, he's bigger guys built like a running back. But as a six foot receiver, like he wins more 50-50 balls than you'd expect. So to me, you know, it feels like there's moments in camp. You know, there feels like there's momentum for things to happen. I am starting to wonder if Darius Cooper is all. already on the 53 man roster.
Starting point is 00:08:56 I think he is. I don't want to go to, I don't want to get too ahead of myself, but I do. I feel like every day when I watch him, I'm like he is at least the fifth best receiver on this team. Might be the fourth best receiver on this team, but if they're going to keep five or six,
Starting point is 00:09:08 the third best. Yeah. If they're going to keep five or six, he is on the roster. I mean, he's going to make the team. And even, even all the little signals of Jalen talking about would suggest that as well.
Starting point is 00:09:19 Siriani did the same today during his press conference. The one, he had like four catches during team. drills today yeah the first one in the first team drill from Jalen was one you're talking about but that was a tighter window throw and it was a strong at the catch point throw that was I believe with I mean Omar Epps was or Omar Marcus Epps coming towards him was that was a very nice play but then the ones with the twos he's just shaking free and he's getting wide open and actually
Starting point is 00:09:48 was that McKee or Dalton I think it was McKee because the both of those guys had a good day but yeah Darius Cooper was has been all over the place. Every single day he has made a handful of plays. Is it a good thing for the Eagles that there's a chance Darius Cooper's like going to be on the field in week one? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:10:11 But there is a chance. Yeah, it's weird. This receiving core of the floor is probably a lot better than we thought it was going to be. But the ceiling probably is a lot lower right now than where you'd expect. I wanted to mention.
Starting point is 00:10:23 Right. It's like we said the other day. They are worse, they're much worse, one to two. Right. And they are much better three to eight. Yeah, they're basically, like, I think the drop off from AJ to Devante isn't as significant, but that second spot in particular, it's a huge drop off. That is a huge drop off to go from Devante to, you know, we should have this conversation.
Starting point is 00:10:43 Then we can get back to Darius Cooper. Like, I want to separate what I feel and what the team feels on this. Quickly, let's say, Devante again did not practice today. Yeah, Devonte. and McIlan. And the same with Mackay. Yeah. So separating how I feel about a player and how the team feels about a player for a second,
Starting point is 00:10:59 like I can tell you the team feels really good about Dontavian Wix. You know, Nick Siriani has talked him up. Jalen has talked him up, talked about the rage, the internal rage that he has in a good way. You know, and Dontabian Wicks has had a really good camp. But now, like, let's go back to like where I how I feel about the player, which is if Don Tantavian Wix is your number two receiver, like, yes, he has earned that role. But like, you feel a lot better about your. room if he was your third guy. You feel a lot better if you had an upside swing.
Starting point is 00:11:26 And Mackay Lemon's out right now and maybe he turns into that player for them. But I still like as much as camp hype kind of builds on a player and I do think that's building for Don Tavia and Wicks right now, you probably don't want him to be your second optioning or receiving core no matter how good he looks during training camp. Or you just believe that he's going to be more productive than he's ever been. Yeah, which maybe he looks possible. He looks good. Um, But back to Darius Cooper, I just, I feel like that guy is, and I just, like going to the 53 of it all, they had him on the roster last year. So they let the league know how they feel about this guy.
Starting point is 00:12:06 I don't think you're going to. It's not even, it's not, it's like who we were saying it was last summer. It's over. He's on the team. Yeah, I tend to agree. He's going to make the roster. A couple super chats to get to. Rivera says, what if difficulty in camp is because Jalen simply can't.
Starting point is 00:12:22 read or run motion offense efficiently against the dominant D, they go to the old offense or to QB2. We've talked about this. I don't agree at all that there has been like that much difficulty for the offense in camp. I think the arrow is pointing up for the offense
Starting point is 00:12:41 in terms of what our expectations were. I think Jalen looks great. Yeah. I think the concerns about the offense are that they're right now missing two of their top three receivers, Lane Johnson couldn't get on the field. Jurgens loses, you know, today.
Starting point is 00:12:56 I don't know if they're going to stay healthy, but I've been very impressed with what I've seen in a big picture sense from the offense. It's not been great. They don't look like a top five offense. Right. But they look like an offense that's going to be able to move the ball. Yeah, I think that they have looked ahead of where I expected them to be
Starting point is 00:13:13 this point in camp, especially going against a really good defense and implementing a completely different scheme. They look solid. They look fine. I thought today they had they stretches where they looked really crisp. We can get into some of those. But yeah, I wouldn't be worried about, I think the offense is going to have like a roller coaster, you know, season probably just because of how different this is.
Starting point is 00:13:33 But for me, like, they have shown me enough glimpses in practice that I think like they, they have the ceiling at least. You know, they should have the variance to be good for at least parts of the season. So, yeah, it hasn't been perfect. But again, I thought today they look pretty good. I think the most important, I think Jalen looks really good. Yeah, he looks comfortable, too. I don't think it's a coincidence that the two practices after walkthroughs,
Starting point is 00:13:56 I think have been his cleanest practices. And the offense is cleanest practices. So, yeah, no, I don't think that the, like, we'll see how the season goes. I don't think that the Jalen can't run this offense narrative is his many more days. I think that the days are numbered for that argument. Tizi Trez with a super chat says, glad Lanes back, but also glad Markell is getting so many reps. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:19 Invaliable experience for the. rook, he might have to be a starter sooner rather than later. Now, you're right. I mean, it's unlikely just based on the history that Lane Johnson and Jordan and Jordan Milit are both going to start 17 games this season. This is one where as we do the stockup, stockdown exercise. Yeah. Sometimes it's hard to differentiate from one person's stock up as another person's stock down. I'm not exactly sure where I land on Michael Bell versus Fred Johnson. Is this, is Markle Bell getting these reps because he's been so impressive? Or is it because Fred Johnson hasn't looked that great?
Starting point is 00:14:56 I think it's a little bit of both. I think it is. I think it is very good. TZ Treys is right that Mark Hale Bell is getting these reps. Yeah. Especially, you know, not only is it going to the NFL, but it's a new position. He was at left tackle most of the time at Miami. I think these are very, these are invaluable reps.
Starting point is 00:15:12 And I do think that Markle Bell has looked better than I expected him to look as a rookie. Yeah, I think it's, it's important to like qualify the Mark Hill Bell thing. I talked about him on Cousa's show this morning. Like, I, based off of what you would have expected Mark Elbelle to look like, especially given like what he looked like in the spring, just like from a body composition standpoint, he looked like a guy who needed to put on a little bit of weight. As crazy as that sounds, as big as he is,
Starting point is 00:15:35 he looked like a guy that looked like he needed to put on weight in the lower half. You know, he's got, as Fran would say, like skinny ankle, skinny calves. I actually have been pleasantly surprised by how he moves and how he holds up against power based off of what I expected. But yeah, if you told me he started. 14 games for you this season, I would have concerns about if he can be consistent. But again, I think the highs have looked good for him. You know, the lows have been getting tossed by Jalen Carter.
Starting point is 00:15:59 I'm sure that he's had some missed assignments as most rookies probably would in that scenario. So we're not saying he's perfect, but he is the Eagle Swing Tackle right now. Like, you know, if you told me like who's going to be the swing tackle in week one, is it going to be Fred or Markell? I would guess Markell based off of the rep distribution. And again, like you said, Fred is. not had a good camp. You know, whether that's like, you know,
Starting point is 00:16:24 whether that should outweigh his track record on the field over the last few years, it's its own discussion. But yeah, he has not looked like the solid swing tackle that you would have expected in training camp. I am less sure, I think, than you, that it would be Markell week one. I think it's not, I don't think it's done and dusted.
Starting point is 00:16:43 I think giving him these reps. And there's probably a little bit of hesitants to move off of the veteran there, but I don't think, I mean, I think that's a real, there's a real chance. My pushback on it is like,
Starting point is 00:16:54 we aren't seeing them like accelerate. Obviously, Mikhailim, it's hurt, but we're not seeing them accelerate the other rookies. You know, it's not like,
Starting point is 00:17:00 oh, like, you know, let's get Elii Stourer's some reps with the ones. Like, Frank Alcatera's gotten those reps. That's true than him. You know, EJ Jenkins has been in more with the starter.
Starting point is 00:17:08 So it's not like they've been really prioritizing rookie reps. I think that Markle has like looked good enough in spells. Like I thought he had a good day today. I think he's looked good enough in spells to at least... I mean, we both had more turkeys on him, you know, when we did it last week. I think it's more likely now that he is the swing tackle. And then GoBirds XTL with Superchat wants to know how Rik Wullen has looked us far in camp.
Starting point is 00:17:28 I think he's looked. You know, I think he's looked... He probably hasn't been like light in the world on fire like you did in the spring. But he's been solid. I don't think he's... He hasn't been like a liability or anything like that. Yeah, I agree. Yeah, as expected.
Starting point is 00:17:40 Time for a quick break. On the other side, we'll get more into the specific weeds of today's... practice. We had some one-on-ones to tell you about, including the first real flash from an interesting player. The brain is a powerful tool. You can imagine anything. But don't wait, this flavor is only around for a limited time. I had this flavor at Eagles training camp last week.

Starting point is 00:19:51 Rita's ice custard happiness be cool Go to Rita's Back on the PHA Y Eagles podcast Bo and EJ Let's talk Willie Lampkin Oh, that's Today is the first day That I feel like
Starting point is 00:20:08 Willie Lampkin is going to make the team And I didn't think that was going to be the case And I'll tell you why today with the twos Willie Lampkin was playing guard and I'm going to tell you why that was interesting in What's Brewing presented by Wawa What's brewing with Willie?
Starting point is 00:20:25 What's brewing with Willie? Willie's brewing. Now if we did like what's No, I was trying to think of a good tongue to here. So listen, it is hard to imagine a player of his size being able to play guard in the NFL. It is also hard to imagine the team holding a roster spot for a player who only have
Starting point is 00:20:44 as backup ability at center. Yes. So I read this as they're trying him out. They're just seeing what it looked like. I thought he looked good today. He did. Yeah. At guard.
Starting point is 00:20:56 And the interior pocket is so much better when with the backups with the twos and threes when Willie is on the field. Then if it's just Jake Majors, it happened again today where majors give up a second thing to Ojamo. It was Carter too. Carter teleported that guy. over like three gas saw that one yeah that came off the ball so fast that is like that's that was tough and now again i know i've been killing jake majors but that was like an illustration of like what would it look like
Starting point is 00:21:24 if a pretty like yeah above average athlete but somebody who is a little bit overmatch gets lined up against jalen carter how ugly it can get like that guy got yeah sent to the shadow realm uh so i read this as very good signal yeah for willie lincoln i think he has looked good i think there's i think there's a real chance they'll make the team. But he got beat on one rep today. And it was in, it was in O-line, D-line, two-on-toos, and he got a little bit manhandled.
Starting point is 00:21:53 And this is the, you know, this is the argument against William. And who is so much stronger than you would imagine him to be. Absolutely. I'll take it through the one-on-reps later. He did a very good job. But he got pushed back into the pocket,
Starting point is 00:22:05 like walked back six or seven steps by Uar Bernard. Yeah. The very first time I have seen that kind of flash from Uar. So that was great to see. Yeah. I mean, it is like, because I'm thinking when you're telling me like Willie Lamkin got walked back, I'm like,
Starting point is 00:22:22 well, you know, you get him into the wrong situation. Yeah. Against the wrong player. Like, it's just like that train is not getting off the tracks. You're not getting that train off the rails. And that's kind of where UR probably is too, where it's like if you get him like with his hands in the right place,
Starting point is 00:22:36 with the right leverage, he could do real damage against somebody. So I guess that's good to hear for, That was nice to see from Ovar. But yeah, I would say we will do our 50, we'll do an early 53 next week. I think right now my O line would be after the starters. Kendall for sure, Markell for sure. And maybe, maybe Willie and Fred Johnson, I guess.
Starting point is 00:23:02 Yeah, Willie. Probably what I would do. Willie has to pass the like, would you be really upset if he got claimed off of waivers? I guess you have to ask. They used a waiver spot on him last year. And it's like, do you think he would get claimed? He might. So I think the preseason is going to be important for him, obviously.
Starting point is 00:23:17 But I thought he looked really good. I know you're going to go through the one-on-ones. I just wanted to say two things with Willie, his feet, he's got that. I've used this reference before. Like Jeff Stalind referred to Lane Johnson. It's almost like he was on a helicopter. Or, you know, like he's like levitating over the ground because his feet moves so quick. Like not comparing Willie Lampkin to Lane Johnson in terms of footwork,
Starting point is 00:23:37 but there is that helicopter feel where his feet. are chopping so quick that he almost looks like he's above the ground. And yeah, way more pop than you would expect for his frame. When he's at center, he's really good at coming in as the second guy and displacing a guy. I mean, listen, it's hard. He's a he's a teeny tiny offensive lineman, but this body's not new to him. He's been playing it the whole time and he's got this far. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:24:00 I'm feeling bullish on Willie. Yeah, I had him in my standouts. I do my three takeaways every day. All those things are taking over social media. Hey, you got, I don't know about that. You got to follow me on Instagram. I just changed my handle too. Really?
Starting point is 00:24:13 E.J. Smith reports. You know, a little more professional. I need everybody to know what year I was born. So I'm E.J. Smith reports on Instagram. I'm trying to get to 2,000, at least 2,000 followers by the time that training camp is over. So give me a follow over there. Come on, make it happen. I give you guys daily reports from training camp.
Starting point is 00:24:29 Like, I walk off the field. Sometimes I don't even walk off the field. I take the video. I give you three quick things. It's good content. Don't do the. for what's brewing presented by Wawa. I got a Wawa trip coming up.
Starting point is 00:24:43 Let me take you through the one-on-ones. Yeah, not the longest session. And they were doing the two-matchup thing. I missed the first rep, which I was not happy about, but I'm not going to lie to you. We start with a good rep from Jake Majors. Jake Majors did a good job against Byron Young, beat him twice.
Starting point is 00:25:06 This is the first time that my, Jake Major's bias might be showing. Oh, you had Byron Young winning this? I had Byron Young down on the Bull Rush, the second one. Oh, I thought he recovered well. I'm going to defer to you. There was initial pushback, and then I thought that Jake Majors settled in. I'm going to defer to you because, A, I was getting, like, situated when that was going
Starting point is 00:25:23 on, and B, everyone knows that I've been pretty hard on Major. Michael Jordan, the veteran guard, did a good job on two reps against Zion Wilson, but Michael Jordan, you should know, has kind of moved down the depth chart, is now mostly working with the threes instead of the twos. Just something to keep in mind. That's why I have them down on my roster. And now here's one where, you know, the context of training camp is always, because it's the same team, when so-and-so beat so-and-so,
Starting point is 00:25:49 is that good or is that bad? Yeah. And, you know, what do you take of that? And when Miles Hinton has two really good reps against Nolan Smith, is that good for Miles Hinton? Yeah. Or is that, oh, man, like, come on, Nolan? I think it's the latter.
Starting point is 00:26:08 I'll have more on that later. Yeah, two reps that were much better than you would have expected. Michael Morris had two good reps against Ty Robinson. You sure did. I thought that was a really impressive set of reps from Michael Morris. And that's another one where, okay, you want to see more from Ty Robinson. But I think actually when I was talking about my offensive lineman before, I have Michael Morris penciled in. I think he will make the team.
Starting point is 00:26:32 Yeah, he's looked okay. And those were good reps. That might be more. my notes on that one were it doesn't seem like Ty Robinson has a plan when he rushes. It's just kind of like trying to overpower you. The whole point of draft on the 24 year old. Yeah. Willie Lankin had two good reps against Zion Wilson in the one of months.
Starting point is 00:26:48 Yeah, great feet. Really good feet. And then two really good reps from Kendall against Moro Jumo. So this is what I wanted to say is that I was excited about Willie Lampkin too. Yeah. But he was going up against Zion Wilson, you know, a guy who's new to the position. Like, there are levels here. And Drew Kendall is.
Starting point is 00:27:06 on a different level. And that was my biggest takeaway from those one-on-ones. It's like to have two good reps against Morrow Ojo-Mo, who's had a good camp? It's not like Ojo-Ojo-Mo's been quiet this summer.
Starting point is 00:27:16 I am just all in on Drew Kendall. Like, I am all in on him being the first interior offensive lineman off the bench. And I would actually argue, like, the Eagles' depth on the offensive line, you probably won't feel great about it
Starting point is 00:27:29 if you're just looking at it on paper. It's a lot of young guys that aren't proven in the league. You know, with Markell Bell is a potential swing tackle for you there. I'll, I will wait and see on the tackle situation before I say that's about that group. But on the interior, I feel fine about their depth. If Drew Kendall has to play any of those three spots,
Starting point is 00:27:47 I feel like he's going to step in and play average to above average football for the Eagles based off what we've seen from in the summer. I think he's looked really good this training camp. I think so too. Yeah. Yeah. I think you said it well. Then the last rep was Nolan on kind of like a rematch of Nolan against Hinton and it was
Starting point is 00:28:03 almost like they wanted to give him a win. and he won inside, but it was one of those ones where, like, there's not really a rush lane there, right? Like when France says it's not a real route. Yeah. You said that. You missed one. Jalick's Hunt against Cameron, Liam.
Starting point is 00:28:15 Oh, yes. He destroyed him. What do we do? Yeah. Like, why? Hunt kills 73 is what I have. And then 73 holds. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:23 Poor, poor. That's tough. I mean, that's unfair. But that's the right context for Nolan versus Hinton. Yeah, it should be like that. Yeah, you're absolutely right. Because that was like. Yeah, that was like.
Starting point is 00:28:34 It's not nice. I was, when I wrote my notebook, I probably need to say. The show. Yeah. That was tough. Yeah, poor Cameron. You're right. Thank you for picking that up.
Starting point is 00:28:45 All right. Any other specific notes from practice you'd like to get through? Let's see. I thought, I mentioned earlier, I thought it was a crisp opening sequence for the Eagles offense. I had them, the plays I had down. Elijah Moore, flat route complete, 26. So Sequin Barkley, outside zone for a decent gain.
Starting point is 00:29:04 Jordan Davis had a sack. He had like a swim move against Lana Dickerson. That was probably the only negative play. Yeah, that was a nice move. Yeah, it was a really nice move from Davis. And then the two that really stood out, the Dallas got it, ran a stop route on the hash against Rick Wulin.
Starting point is 00:29:18 And it was just a really good timing route from Jalen Hertz to hit him in stride there. That first drill? Yep, first one. And then I had undercentered jet stretch for a decent gain. I think that was Bigsby on the character there. And then that was when I wrote down, after that was when I wrote down Death Taxes, Darius Cooper Digrout completed for 15 yards.
Starting point is 00:29:33 So, yeah, a good opening sequence, probably something they reped during walkthrough, and I don't think it's a coincidence that their best, cleanest practices at the very least, have come after the walkthrough where they probably are able to install some of the stuff that they then rep out during practice. Tanner McKee had a good day. Yeah. In that drill, had a really nice throw, a tight window to Danny Gray on the sideline with Keely Ringo in coverage, hit, and then Eric Azoukanma had a drop in the middle of the field.
Starting point is 00:30:01 Yeah. But McKee looked good today And then had a series where he hit Darius Cooper twice and Dalton also had a good day today as well Yeah they yeah Although what did you think on the Dalton deep shot That's a thing Johnny Wilson
Starting point is 00:30:15 Yeah it was a good I mean so Johnny Wilson gets wide open on Mac Mac Williams Down the field And Dalton correctly sees it and gets the ball out And the ball just hangs It's way underthrown so Johnny Wilson Catches the ball It doesn't score It's a nice play but
Starting point is 00:30:31 I mean, that's the Andy Dalton experience, right? Yeah, so you're going to get the right read, but no arm strength? Yep. The ball was way too inside. It was like, at first, I was like, oh, this is a good throw because he really like wound up to unleash it. And then as it was in the air, it's like, oh. So, yeah, it was a little underwater.
Starting point is 00:30:49 Yeah. You know what, Johnny Wilson had another beautiful touchdown catch in the corner. Oh, you know what? I'm glad you said that. I literally wrote Best Play of the Day, question mark. Yeah, I think so. And that was with, I think, Michael Carlson. Carter and Jonathan Jones.
Starting point is 00:31:02 You know what? It probably was Jonathan Jones. I had 22, but I think it was 32. And he went up and got it and came down. It was like there was the vision of what you hope Johnny Wilson could become. That was it. So Johnny Wilson has had a good, pretty good camp. Today was his best day by far.
Starting point is 00:31:17 It was his best day. I would wonder if this is like the JJ Arthago Whiteside thing where it's like you're a big receiver. You probably should look good during training camp. I think that was a better play than JJ Arthago Whiteside ever made. Yeah, it's fair. It was a good ball by McKee, too. in the corner of the end zone? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:32 Yeah. I thought that might have been Dalton. Was that McKee? Definitely McKee. I had McKee, yeah. I made note of McKee because I double checked to see if it was in. Other drills, I had OJMO with a sack at one point. Jalen Carter wrecked to play.
Starting point is 00:31:45 That was the one that you talked about. Yeah. Which then led to kind of a mad scramble where Jailen threw across his body to Darius Cooper. Yeah, Jalen's been doing the cross-body thing, a decent amount this camp. Don't love it. Don't love it. Results have been good. I imagine we will get a super chat asking.
Starting point is 00:32:01 about everybody's favorite. Oh, yeah. The Gush push. Gush got some reps with the twos today. He did. Handful of reps in plays of Maximus Polly, who until now has kind of UDFA mugged him. But I thought that good.
Starting point is 00:32:18 I thought Gush was okay. Michael Carter continues to have a very good camp, had a PBO. Wait, you didn't mention Gush's play. So I don't think he knocked it out. I thought he picked it up. I thought he knocked it out and picked it up. Oh, I thought somebody else knocked it out.
Starting point is 00:32:33 Let's give it to him. I don't remember who fumbled, though. That's the only thing. That was why I was going to defer to you on that. It was. Oh, I have it somewhere. All right, well, Bo finds a receiver here. I thought it was, I thought he,
Starting point is 00:32:45 I thought he was the other guy in and someone else knocked it out. I'm giving him both. The gush knocks the ball out. And then recovers the fumble. And the whole, like, seated row of people that I was watching practice with, they're all going, oh, the gush. The gush. Is that what they were saying?
Starting point is 00:33:01 Actually, it was. And we've got to say, Eli Stowers had a better day today. He had two catches in the flat, baby steps, possibly, for Eli Stowers. Because, yeah, two catches, one with the second team, one with the third team. They were both checkdowns. It's not like, you know, he routed somebody up or anything. But, yeah, I mean, it was his most productive day of camp.
Starting point is 00:33:20 If you're looking for, like, a silver lining or, you know, something to hold on to, I think he gave you that more or less today. Super Chat from Alex Schleson, who says, how worried are we regarding Lemon? I think it's okay to be worried. Yeah, I'm about to say, we'll do stock up, stock down. If you want to, we can have that conversation then.
Starting point is 00:33:44 Sure. You want to do it right now? We'll get to break. We'll come back on the other side. We'll talk about Mikhail Lemon, and we will give you the players who we think have moved the needle upwards over the first seven days of Eagle's training game.
Starting point is 00:33:57 You know how on this phone you do the thing where you do the drop down and it shows you the suggested apps, the ones that you're usually searching for, guess what's on there for me, game time? Because I'm always looking at game time to find the latest prices for events, for that's sports, music, whatever else. Because I know that game time is the best place to find tickets. Starting point is 00:35:54 Have a night. Welcome back to the PHAY Eagles podcast, day seven of Eagles training camp. We're telling you all about it. Let's talk a little Mackay Limon. Yeah. So if we're going to do stock up, stock down, I would have Mackay Lemon in my stock down. And it never feels good to put a player in stock down because of an injury. Make me feel good.
Starting point is 00:36:21 It doesn't ever feel. I think it's okay to acknowledge. like, you know, if he was out there, maybe this would be totally different. It's not really a matter of what he's done on the field. But I think it is okay to feel like this is going to have a real impact. It's going to have a real impact on what he looks like as a rookie, you know, like how often do you hear from rookies after a season where they started injured? Like, I just never felt like I caught up.
Starting point is 00:36:46 I never felt like I, you know, was able to really, you know, make up an already here. Yeah, exactly. Nick Siriani said before practice, he was asked about like the balancing act between a rookie that you need to get reps and get chemistry with the quarterback against the fact that they're just hurt. And he said, like, their priority is getting him healthy. And, you know, obviously that's what he's going to say,
Starting point is 00:37:04 but it's also an acknowledgement, like, this might be a little bit of a road back from Mackay Lemon. And if it is, then these are valuable reps that he's missing. So I think the best case scenario for the Eagles was that he was their number two receiver. I think that that's, he's going to have a real uphill battle when he comes back from this injury, whenever that is to make that possible.
Starting point is 00:37:22 Yeah, it makes it more difficult to imagine him, not just being the slot guy. Yeah. Especially the first like half of the season. He's going to have to earn more than that. And, you know, those are valuable reps. Yeah. And, you know, some people will point to Devante Smith missing time as rookie year.
Starting point is 00:37:39 My argument against that would be that Devante was a little bit more of like a ready made NFL receiver. And Mackay Lemon, we were already envisioning his role in this offense being specialists or specialized to a degree. He was going to be in motion. He was going to have to be around the formation. they would have to figure out ways to feature him without the reps and the time on task getting that into the offense. It's hard to envision he's going to step in week one. He's not winning
Starting point is 00:38:02 because he's bigger and stronger and faster than everybody else. He's winning with precision. Yeah, and obviously scheme. Like, scheme is a big part of that. And so all of the time missed means he's going to be less precise. He's going to be less reliably exactly where Jalen wants him to be.
Starting point is 00:38:18 Yeah. I mean, it's not ideal. A perfect example is the only the interception that Jalen threw on Monday where it was a miscommunication with Elijah Mitchell and him. And then the next play he rips a ball up the seam to Elijah Mitchell. Those reps... Sorry, Elijah Moore, I apologize.
Starting point is 00:38:35 Those reps should have been Mackay Lemon. Like, those are the reps you want Mackay Lemon in and, like, literally, Elijah Moore is filling in for where McKay Lemon would be in this offense. So that is like a good representation of what this time on task means for these receivers and Jaylen. And the fact that McCoy Lemon's missing that,
Starting point is 00:38:53 Again, it makes it more likely that Don Tavian Wix is going to be your number two. And then, yeah, you kind of hope that McKayleman's back and the slot guy. But it might be Elijah Moore at the start of the season, depending again on how long McKayleman's out. The great Dinkleberg checks in at the Super Chat. It says, y'all beat me to it. But if you listen closely, you can hear it. That sounds you hear?
Starting point is 00:39:16 Yeah, it's the Gush Push. Do you get satisfaction that Dinkleberg's chats are written, like, for your? delivery. I wouldn't say I get satisfaction of it, but I appreciate. It knows your schick, your delivery. Could it feel seen? Yeah. I apologize to Elijah Mitch and Elijah Moore, by the way.
Starting point is 00:39:37 And to Elijah Wilkinson. That's an Elijah. I know. I know how Elijah Verit Tucker calls his name. Okay. All right. Let's do some stock up. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:49 You want to go first? Back and forth. You want me to go first? You go first. No. you go first because if I go first, I'm just going to take you, boy. Well, we've already talked about Darius Cooper. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:58 Who would be in this category. We've already talked about Drew Kendall, who would be in this category. So who's your first stock up? I'm going to get my first stock up to both Marcus Epps and Michael Carter. Mm-hmm. Because I think they have so far assuaged concerns about that second safety spot. Both of them have looked pretty good. I think Mukuba has looked fine too.
Starting point is 00:40:21 He's been the kind of. quiet that you would hope to see from a safety. He hasn't made any big plays, but he hasn't given up any big plays. Michael Carter today was probably his worst day, and he was around the ball, but he gave up two catches or something like that. Marcus Epps has been pretty good. I think that the urgency to find a different solution, as the Eagles did, you know, with Anthony Harris before the 22 season and then traded for CJ Gardner Johnson, I feel like Harry Roseman doesn't feel the same way he did that summer. Yeah, I agree. I think that. that like premium draft capital used on a safety spot.
Starting point is 00:40:56 If you had asked me before camp how likely it was, you know, maybe I would have put that at like 30 or 40 percent. I'm much lower now. I feel like, you know, you never say never, but this group has played well enough throughout the summer so far that you feel okay going into the season with the combination. It's not just, I like to make them a package deal because it's not just Marcus Epps.
Starting point is 00:41:15 It's like Marcus Epps and Michael Carter between the two of them. You feel good about your secondary and the depth that you have in the secondary as well. I think that's right. I'm going to go Jailix Hunt then. I thought you would go Jailix Hunt. Well, you know, I want to share the man with the world. I appreciate that.
Starting point is 00:41:29 I thought, yeah, I thought Jalick. To me, the stock is only, it's steady because I already expected him to be the best player in the NFL. It's like, well, not to say your first pick isn't going to move the needle for the Eagles defense, but I think Jailix Hunt, the summer he's having is one of the bigger needle moving things that we've seen from the first seven practices. He looks incredible. He looks like the way he looked last year, but just bigger and faster and stronger. So as much as, you know, Jonathan Grenard's absence has been felt, I think that Jalix
Starting point is 00:41:59 has looked like, honestly, he has looked like the type of edge rushery that you want at the top of your rotation. He has to prove that in game. And I think that that group is better when Jonathan Grinard's out there, obviously. But Jalick's been awesome this summer. I feel like, you know, he has taken the leap we expected him to. And it's all the more important because Grinard has not been out there. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, if you had told me that the Eagles, you know, had somebody penciled in at the top of their addresser rotation, the way that Jaleks Hunt has looked, he wouldn't, if I didn't know anything about the team,
Starting point is 00:42:30 I would go, yeah, that guy looks like, you know, one of those guys, like one of the 32 that you want at the top of a rotation. Again, it's got to prove it in games, but he looks awesome. Can I just throw in? Yeah. Stock up Jalen Hertz. Yeah, he was online too.
Starting point is 00:42:49 I think it looks really good. Yeah? I do. He looks comfortable. he doesn't look hesitant. You know, the, the proof will be in the pudding in terms of how much he ends up
Starting point is 00:42:59 throwing the ball over the middle of the field, but he's throwing the ball over the middle of the field fine. Constantly. He seems to have a good semblance of the offense. And you know what was interesting was the other day when I asked him about the, I was just a little curious about,
Starting point is 00:43:16 you know, he wears that helmet, the camera on the helmet. Yes. And I don't think he has worn it before. It has usually been like a tool where one of the backups has done it. Yeah. And he's doing it.
Starting point is 00:43:26 And I just asked what the case was. You know, like, does he find it helpful? And he pointed to, rather than it being a good reflection of like what I'm seeing and then we can talk about it, it's actually a good source of accountability for in the huddle. Yeah. And making sure that everybody knows their assignments because I have given you the play call. We can check that the play call was correct. you should know what your job is. And that's part of why he was so, you know, the Elijah Moore thing
Starting point is 00:43:57 where he was upset about the wrong route, but then demonstrative about the touchdown pass that followed. You know, he is put in the time. He's the expert here. And I think he, you know, I don't want to be too flowery. But I'm pretty bullish about the season that Jalen Hertz is going to have. I am too for a reason you haven't mentioned yet, which is the footwork that we've seen from him this summer.
Starting point is 00:44:21 he looks efficient and effective with his drops. And the way that in Sean Mannion's offense, Sean Maynard laid this out where you have to listen to your feet, trust your feet, and your feet have to kind of bring you around the progression. And, you know, that's always been a thing with Jalen where it's like, oh, like you have to give him half field reads.
Starting point is 00:44:38 You know, he's, you know, you want him only reading one side of the field. We have seen him work across the field on progressions way more this summer than we have in years past. And he looks efficient and comfortable doing it, which again, like, you know, you go back to all the times you've heard, Like, you know, if you, like Jalen hurts, like he's, whatever his ceiling is, he's going to hit it because he's going to work hard at it. You know, the under center aspect of this offense, turning your back to the defense on play action fakes. And then the footwork, the, you know, the importance of it in this scheme.
Starting point is 00:45:06 He's really embraced all of those things, you know, and that wasn't a given. That wasn't a guarantee. You know, we sat in this studio questioning whether that was going to be an ideal fit. And yes, it has, it's where I'll see how it looks in the regular season. But in training camp, he looks comfortable and confident doing that stuff. you know what it's going to you know the discourse around jailer never stops yeah and it's probably not going to be you know he's not going to throw for 4,000 yards is this probably still going to be a very run heavy offense sure and uh you know there will be some easy some easy buttons with
Starting point is 00:45:35 under center play action and people will be like oh well that's just you know he's in the shanahan system but you can't you know so be it's going to be it's going to be a little bit head spinning yeah like jalen hurts without play action i don't think that it's going to be you know he's not going to put up the numbers he put up in 2022 obviously Yeah. But I think the egos are in good hands. I agree. All right.
Starting point is 00:45:56 Give us one more stock up. I feel like we talked about Dantavian Wicks. So, and we talked about Drew Kendall, too. I'm just going to go with Dantavian Wicks. Oh, you know what? I thought you were going to go for him. That's your guy.
Starting point is 00:46:13 I like it, Damien Pierce, but I'm going to go with another needle mover here. I'm going to go with Jalen Carter. Okay. Because obviously Jalen Carter is an excellent player. We already knew that. But there was a question as to, what he would look like coming into training camp.
Starting point is 00:46:26 And, you know, before training camp started, I remember saying that like, Jalen Carter, if you're listening, like, I just want to see you like wreck a practice, you know, or at least wreck a team session, wreck a five play sequence. And we have seen him do that, at least like with a few plays every single day,
Starting point is 00:46:41 you feel his presence, you feel like the otherworldly ability that he has to teleport a guard to two gaps over or just, you know, knife into the backfield on a rundown and, you know, give them the finger wag. at the end of it. So I think for that reason, like he is a stockup player for me.
Starting point is 00:46:59 If you ask me, like, which version of Jalen Carter are we going to see in 2026, the 2024 version or the 2025? I would point at the 2024 version and say that's what he's looked like in training camp. Super chat from SS remodeling
Starting point is 00:47:12 says Darius Cooper had the best catch from Hertz of the day. ESP and others are saying he's the third best wide receiver on the team. What's the chance he gets snaps? I think we'll be on the field Third best is probably not the best case scenario for the Eagles Although my former colleague Jeff McLean
Starting point is 00:47:30 He wrote this in his practice observations And it kills me that he wrote it Because I wish I had said it myself And that I could have taken credit for it But if Darius Cooper were having Or sorry, if Mackay Lemon were having the summer That Darius Cooper is having right now People would be freaking out
Starting point is 00:47:44 People would be so excited about Mackay Lemon It's been a really good summer for Darius Cooper I think there's a chance that he gets real snaps I think so too I think the answer, the honest answer is if McIleman is not ready for a week one, then I think Darius Cooper might be in the top three. Especially because he, we already know he can do the Dirty Work stuff, which is important in this offense.
Starting point is 00:48:05 Now, where does Hollywood Brown fit in there? And maybe, you know, it's not, they can have different roles. Yeah, I'm about to say, I feel like early down, you can have Darius Cooper out there, and he, you're a little more multiple with him in the, in the slot or in a condensed formation, where he's going to be asked to block. and then when you have Hollywood Brown in the field, it's probably a little bit more like horizontal stretch.
Starting point is 00:48:25 Can we get him in a jet motion? Can we, you know, like, I guess draw attention from the defense because he is somebody that can move around the formation? I feel like it's just horses for courses with those guys. All right, time for our last break. On the other side, we will give you some stock downs. And also, E.J., I want you to think about if you could get Jalen Hurts anything for his birthday,
Starting point is 00:48:45 what did you get him? Okay, yeah. Find out on the other side. If it has been a. while since your last pest control service. This is a good reminder to get ahead of the things before pests become a bigger problem. Where? At Evans, of course.

Starting point is 00:51:10 My favorite Cajun seasoning. Okay. It's called Holy Voodoo. Actually, no free advertising. Yeah. You want me to mention the seasoning. sponsor the show. Do you think he would take offense to the idea that he would change up his own seasoning routine at all? I don't think he changed.
Starting point is 00:51:27 He's got his crawfish. Yeah, he wouldn't change his crawfish recipe. I know that that's passed down from generation to generation. But he seems like a fan of Cajun food. And, you know, if you're not trying to whip up the seasoning, maybe you have that. The second thing I'd give him, he probably would appreciate more. I'd give him this putter I got. It's a nice putter.
Starting point is 00:51:43 Again, no free advertising. I bought that putter in, like, July. and I mean it's not like a putter is so personal it's not a crazy just because it works for you doesn't mean it's going to work for him oh it's one it's like it's a good like game improvement putter though it like if you if you're not practicing a lot it's probably a good one but I was saying to somebody the other day I've chipped in the backyard all summer I played like two rounds of golf all summer so honestly he probably used it more than I would and he is a lefty golfer so you know he can make use of it okay super chat from SS remodeling is back says it's
Starting point is 00:52:17 Seems like the team is getting better in OTAs. I think it means training camp. Hunt, Bigsby, Carter, Wollin, Maccuba, Wicks, Bell, Kendall, Munt, Young, etc. have looked better. Stock up for all those guys. I think every single one of those guys is probably a fair stock up. Yeah, Johnny Munt. Young, maybe.
Starting point is 00:52:41 Johnny Munt and Byron Young are probably. Well, Munt is a stock up in the sense of, yeah. It's not that he has been. been super impressive or more impressive than we expected. It's just that it's becoming clear he's going to be more important to the team than we might have expected a month ago. Water gun to, what will be some high stakes here?
Starting point is 00:53:02 You're left nostril. Oof, that's not, when you said left, and no, I thought he was going somewhere else. You knew my mind wasn't there. So, you know, you're going to get water up your nose if you get this wrong. Okay. Are the Eagles going to add a second tight end or a start? in caliber safety between now and week one.
Starting point is 00:53:22 I would say more likely tight end. I agree, which is not what I would have said going into training camp. I think tight end two on this team is a real place that they could add somebody. That makes sense. We've talked about on the show before. I don't know, though. I feel like they think they're fine with Munt and Stowers. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:53:40 Maybe, maybe. I think that they are clearly comfortable slow playing Eli Stowers. So then it becomes, can you find someone that can give you more than Grant Calcutera. Mont, Mont, Mont. I like a Johnny Monta. All right, you want my stock downs? Yes.
Starting point is 00:53:56 We talked about him a little bit before. I think Fred Johnson is probably the one that has to be number one here. I mean, like, I don't want to, it's not a conclusion, but he is losing a job right now in terms of he was the swing tackle. You would have gone into this summer expecting him to be the swing tackle. I was the slowest to come around to the idea that Markell Bell would really challenge him because I kept saying like if they're in a game
Starting point is 00:54:21 like are they really not are they going to trust a third round rookie that is clearly like a developmental player or a guy that's played good football for them he's struggled enough in training camp so far that I do think that Markle Bell is probably the swing tackle in week one so because of that
Starting point is 00:54:36 you know it's been like missed assignments it's been getting beat by Jalick's Hunt a lot you know one of our stock up players he just had a really rocky camp so yeah I would say he's probably the number one guy on my stock down I have a less important to the outcome of the 2026 season one. But Cole Westesky, I mean, you can't make the clump in the dump, my friend.
Starting point is 00:55:00 And he was gone all of the spring. Came back. I practiced, I think, twice. And that was it. Got to get on the field, my man. Yeah, I think that's fair. It's not super insightful to say that the guy who's injured is stocked down. But, you know, I don't think he's going to make the team right now.
Starting point is 00:55:18 Yeah, and he was a fun story coming in and again, how he compared him to read Blankenship when he got drafted. So, or sorry, yeah, when he got drafted. So, yeah, it's a disappointment. I will also give you, I'll give you another non-injured rookie, another seventh round pick. Kishon James Newby just hasn't really flashed yet. Yeah, I mean, it feels like those late day three edge rushers, like you're really, I mean, if you can get one in like 10. I'm going to take Josh Weiru, baby. I am going to keep trying to get players that actually are like going to play for the Eagles.
Starting point is 00:55:58 I'm going to go with Nolan Smith. Yeah, he's on my list. The Hinton reps were tough today. We didn't talk about this on the show, but Vic Fangio before practice earlier this week was talking about Jalix and Nolan both being, both telling us that they had bulked up. They'd added weight. And Vic, always honest, said like, yeah, like Jalix is buffed up a little. little bit. Nolan came in heavy and has had to lose that weight. Like he came in and, you know, we wanted him to look like lighter and he came into camp. So I mean, you, you, you add that with
Starting point is 00:56:29 obviously the speeding incident that he had. Like, it's just been a rocky offseason for Nolan. So, and this is a pivotal year. So yeah, the fact that he hasn't really made an impact in camp, I think is kind of the latest chapter and what has not been a great few months for him. I will go with another defensive lineman. Again, it feels like we're kicking someone when they're down here. But Ty Robinson just... Yeah. Has not moved up to Deptart at all.
Starting point is 00:56:57 Has not really flashed. It doesn't look like the kind of player you thought that they were drafting. A player with impressive physical tools and who was, you know, an older player. And so they had maybe more of an advanced pass rush plan. That's just not what we've seen at all. it just doesn't feel like he has enough of a pass rush bag and he's clearly not going to just win off of just being stronger and faster than the guy across from him. So yeah, it's a, it's been a disappointing, disappointing stretch for him. Christopher is right. By the way,
Starting point is 00:57:30 Kishon James Nuby has been injured. But this is a yeah, clump in the dump in the dump. Yeah, and it's also a cumulative. He didn't show much before he got hurt in the spring or in the summer. I think Just thinking about Ty Robinson Do you think that defense to tackle is the place where they are most likely to add somebody? Yeah, probably because
Starting point is 00:57:53 I feel like with the top three being as good as they are like you could have Byron Young and feel fine about that. You could probably also get Byron Young to the practice squad. I think they might just go light at that position. Like... You need to have a fourth.
Starting point is 00:58:07 Yeah. To me, if you're going to add a four, If you're going to have a fourth, you probably are going to add somebody. I think they could use like a Linvall Joseph type. Like just a nasty nose tackle that is going to spell Jordan Davis every once in a while. He's going to play like a single digit. But how often do, you know, there aren't that many. But they just, those other three guys are going to play so much and they have such like high leverage roles.
Starting point is 00:58:35 What does that room need is probably an early down guy that can just kind of spell. somebody. You know, maybe it's not, maybe it's not a nose tackle, but maybe it's like someone who could play like opposite Jordan Davis on and early down and you feel like we're just going to get really good run defense here. It's possible. All right, you got one more? Yeah, you want it before or after. No, I want you to tell it to me in, birthday time. I feel like that was good teamwork for that one. Sure. Happy anniversary, by the way. Yeah, one year at PHOI. Thank you. Thank you to all the people out there.
Starting point is 00:59:14 All the, all the listeners, the community. You know, I found myself reflecting yesterday on one year. And the thing that stands out the most other than having a great time with you and Fran on the show every day is just how special the community is. Yes, obviously. Well, Lindsay's not on the show. She is on the show. She's on the show sometimes.
Starting point is 00:59:33 Her voice is on the show. Sometimes you are correct. You don't think her voice is part of her body? That's actually an interesting question. I was thinking that's like how he's. at people to come to Ospreys. I'll be there. You can meet Lindsay.
Starting point is 00:59:47 Ah. Meet. I'll be there. Oh, you got to do a meet and greet. I'll be setting everything up when you guys do the meet and greet. I'll be there. It would be too much. Maybe I'll put, maybe a costume.
Starting point is 01:00:00 I should be behind the curtain. Yeah. And like not even come out. We'll just put like a square curtain around you. Yeah. Yeah. It's very fun. Or it's like a Wilson from Home Improvement thing.
Starting point is 01:00:10 We'll put a little fence there. You just see my eyes. Yeah. I thought Lindsay isn't on the show. She is the show is a bar. I got to give myself a pat on the back sometimes on this show. But yeah, thank you to the community out there.
Starting point is 01:00:23 That's what stands out when I think about what this last year has been, what has been special about this last year is all the people, all the people who messaged me on Instagram, again, EJ Smith reports on Instagram, and all the people who tune in every day for the show. Appreciate you guys out there. All right. Anybody else?
Starting point is 01:00:38 I got a couple more. Kick when they're down. It brings me no joy to say this. been talking about this guy a lot on the show in a negative light. You know, I'm getting accused of burying this guy and saying this guy's never going to turn into anything. He might turn into something. He might develop into a very nice player, but through seven practices, Eli Stowers has
Starting point is 01:00:58 been underwhelming. Yeah. He has not been the mismatch generator, the, like, the outside receiving threat that we would have expected. He just doesn't, like, move the way that we would have expected. Dallas Goddard said after practice that he feels like Eli Stowers is like adjusting to the speed of the game
Starting point is 01:01:18 and is starting to play faster now and maybe he'll have a stronger second half of camp but so far I just wanted to see more specifically more like juice at the top of the route in and out of breaks why are you smiling at me it's a nice super chat about you oh let me finish my point before I read it
Starting point is 01:01:36 because maybe it'll get me misty I just want to see more juice from Eli Sowers as a route runner and as a a separator. Maybe that'll come, but so far, I think it's very good. The catches are coming a little bit, but even those are like, they're like eight yard catches. You know, there's not a lot of explosiveness. Yeah. And, you know, maybe as he adjusts to the speed of the game, it'll come. SS remodeling back with the Super Chat. And how about this? E.J. is easily one of the best Eagles sports reporters in the city. He has only continued to get better. What a great addition,
Starting point is 01:02:09 man knows ball. Thank you, SS remodeling. Very kind of you to say. There are a lot of really great reporters in the city. I'm sitting next to one, so that is very, very high praise. I appreciate it. Well deserved. Happy anniversary. Happy early birthday. We love you.
Starting point is 01:02:27 And with that in mind, I do have to choose violence and give you one more stock down. Oh, on one of my guys? If you say Cam Latu, what are we talking? What are you doing? What do you mean? When's the last time you put, wrote Cam Latu in your notebook. I wrote his name down today actually. He had a catch.
Starting point is 01:02:47 He had a catch day. Cam Lottu's not a training camp player. He's not necessarily somebody that's going to pop and practice. He's not taking many reps. You want him to block somebody into the bench and get him to start a fight? Yes. No, he's not going to do that. He's boys with everybody on the team. Carson Steel is getting carries. Carson Steel does not
Starting point is 01:03:07 look good. Don't get me started on Carson Steel. Well, they have them in the backfield. like yeah he's getting carries Cam Lottu is not stocked out how dare you I think that his chances of making the team have decreased since the beginning of camp
Starting point is 01:03:24 I don't think he's gonna I don't think yeah I don't think he's gonna make the team necessarily okay I think he's gonna be a practice squad guy that they call up because he's great on special teams and he adds a little bit of a full back dimension Camp Latu stocked down that was mean spirit you you did like the biggest stretch
Starting point is 01:03:41 to get that in there You like pulled a hamstring trying to get Cam Latu into your stock down. I think it's fair. No, you just want to... E.J. Jenkins is getting reps. Yeah, I like E.J. J. J. Jankans is over Cam Latu. Yeah, but like Cam Latu. Yeah, but like Cam Latu.
Starting point is 01:03:56 Like, I didn't expect him to be getting first seen. How many fullback reps have you seen? Yeah, not much. That's that, you know what? That's your argument for stockdown for Cam Latu. Yeah. They are not using him as a fullback. And I think that was where his value was last year.
Starting point is 01:04:09 Although, he's still a good blocking tight end. And they could use one of those. Tight end too. I can't believe you did that. You want to hear my other stock downs? I don't have to be, I don't have to give a breakdown on for all these guys. Smile Mondin feels like Chance Campbell is ahead of him.
Starting point is 01:04:28 Chance Campbell might be in the house and Smile Mondon might be on the outside. Oh, I don't know about that. We'll see. I mean, you're right because it's like he's got the draft pedigree. But in terms of like who Vic is excited about, he's more excited about Chance Campbell right now. Keeley Ringo, just because there was a non-zero chance, probably single digits, that Keeley Ringo came into camp and looked like what we wanted him to look like last year.
Starting point is 01:04:53 And that has not happened. It feels like he is entering the special teams ace era of his career. He's got a few more reps with the twos lately. And actually, Mac McWilliams, who I thought had a good start to camp, has taken a bit of a step back to past few practices. So there's a little bit of a jockey and going on there. Yeah. But like...
Starting point is 01:05:12 I don't know that I think John, Jonathan Jones is definitely going to make the team. The thing is, like, they don't trust him at outside corner. Yeah, they don't. In a high leverage moment, they're not putting him out there. So, I had Gabe Hall, too. We've talked about him before. It kind of feels like that, like, excitement period for Gabe Hall is kind of ending.
Starting point is 01:05:29 I don't really know where he goes from here. Okay, good stuff. I had Jeremiah Trotter Jr. My stock up, by the way. Yeah, that's what I was trying to get you to do before. I mean, I've, like, you with Jalick's Hunt, I feel like I've talked so much about Jeremiah, Trotter Jr.
Starting point is 01:05:44 Jeremiah was a bullfrog. Do I know that song? I would hope so. Come on. Yeah. I mean, I guess. I'll listen to it on the way home when I finish the John Mery. I'm disappointed in you.
Starting point is 01:06:04 I was bumping when you got my car today. It's true. Yeah, Bogit's in my car. I got the search for everything. Could not have been more on brand. I've been trying to listen to more music on the way into the facility. I feel like it gets me a little bit more focused. Okay.
Starting point is 01:06:16 Gives me time to think. Oh, I'm glad you brought that up. Best playlist of the summer so far. Yeah? Today at practice, didn't you think? Oh, yeah. The music was by a wide margin. By far.
Starting point is 01:06:27 Yeah, great music. We got, uh, we got Soul Survivor. Mm-hmm. We got, such a good song. Uh, Gangsta's Paradise. I'd say, yeah, we got some good.
Starting point is 01:06:39 And there was one other, one other, yeah, good 90s, 2000s hip-hop song that made me happy. Brought me back to, life a little bit. Yeah, it was a good playlist. Even Thunderstruck today was not, you know, they played it, but for whatever reason it was not quite as offensive as the other time. It hit for
Starting point is 01:06:57 some reason. I, we were not together. I would not go so far. I would go so far as saying it hit because I was, I was sitting that is Stockholm syndrome ever, ever hit. We were not together today. I was sitting at the top of the bleachers. And when Thunderstruck came on, I moved my leg
Starting point is 01:07:12 and then during the like, I literally tapped my foot. And I was like, why did I just do that? That is Stockholm syndrome. That is some combination of Stockholm syndrome and a Pavlovian response. It was hot today. So maybe I was, maybe I was looping. Rosa Parks was the other sign that made me happy.
Starting point is 01:07:29 It was early in camp, early in practice. Yeah. Yeah. Good work today. It was. I mean, Robert Mays was there today. It's always good to be raw. All the stars.
Starting point is 01:07:38 Yeah. We should have mentioned him with all the celebrities. I mean, I think there's one more person we forgot about. Well, before we leave time to tell you about the big takeaway presented by our friends
Starting point is 01:07:55 at Xfinity happy birthday to you happy birthday to you happy birthday dear Sidney Crosby and Jalen Hurts
Starting point is 01:08:18 I didn't realize that and M. Knight. He's watching the show somewhere. Danny Graves, the former reliever. Mike Trout. Mike Trout. And Amar. Kyler Murray, really? Oh, we can't trust that. Boo!
Starting point is 01:08:57 Oh, Charlese, they're on. Charlize, one of the great. Calypso. Tommy DeVito That's interesting Chandon Sullivan What do you think is the most popular day for athletes to have a birthday
Starting point is 01:09:26 Shane Lackler Like late September So because they then would have been like In the school year Yeah Happy birthday to you. Julia and I have been talking about that.
Starting point is 01:09:40 Baby Smith, you'll be an athlete. So you think I'm an athlete? Yeah. I would suspect that you guys were great athletes. This guy at the gym, I know, Flex, I was at the gym, came older guy.
Starting point is 01:09:52 Okay. Came up to me and was like, lacrosse or field hockey. And I was like, that I played. And he was like, yeah. And I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like,
Starting point is 01:10:03 I was a cheerleader. He like said something nice about cheerleading. And then was like, back of my day cheerleaders were just one step above a slut oh wow what Jesus I was like oh okay
Starting point is 01:10:17 and then he was like what yeah he said that to a person this guy said it to me should have beat him up Lindsay and then he was like oh but I think you're you're like a jock or whatever like he was like trying to compliment me but I was like can you just not talk to me at all
Starting point is 01:10:32 generally outrageous thing to say how old was this guy 70s do better get out of here that's terrible terrible there are bad people out there that's the big takeaway presented by Xfinity
Starting point is 01:10:50 shout out Xfinity shout out to M-night I see frame out Ed shout out Ed I see frame on the chat yesterday Julia was mad at me for not like looking at the Instagram messages that she had sent me
Starting point is 01:11:11 and then one of the ones she sent me, I go, I sent you this. And she goes, no, you didn't. And then she did the thing that, you know, she always does. I think this is like a common thing. A lot of people experience where it's like, she's like, it must have been your other girlfriend. And I was like, hmm, actually it was Fran. So, Fran, I don't know if you've ever been referred to by that title, but Julia is now jealous of you. It's an even better joke once you have kids and you make, oh, it's your other family.
Starting point is 01:11:37 You have a whole other family that you're joking with. Enzo, or no, that's not Enzo Fernandez. Kyle Walker has got the double family. Like, he had a whole secret family? He's got two families. Guess whose birthday we missed? Who? I think if this is the right person.
Starting point is 01:11:57 David Baker, July 30th. No. Actually? Oh, July 30th. No, no, not today. We missed David Baker's birthday. Oh, you missed it when it happened. Yeah, yeah, sorry.
Starting point is 01:12:06 Listen, I put the ask out there. It's possible that he will be there at the Ospreys. See if you're there? I sent the invitation. We'll see if he's... I mean, he was on this show, so he could be there. I want to get everybody who's a part of the show who's there. It'd be nice.
Starting point is 01:12:27 David, if you're listening. Put the child down. A long day. Long day in the heat. Oh, God. All right. That's all we got. Wait, this super not super traffic chat.
Starting point is 01:12:59 I think it was about my story. They think I'm 20. I mean, I think Oh my God. That's 20. Yeah. Yeah. It could be.
