Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello everybody and welcome to the P-H-O-Y Eagles pregame show live from the Xfinity Lounge and presented by our friends at Bet365 and Ashley Furniture, Bo-Wolf, Jamie Lynch here. And Jamie, the Eagles, are back on the field for a game that matters for the first time in just under seven months, February 9th. The last time we saw this team play and they won the Super Bowl. And tonight they get to raise the banner in front of the Dallas Cowboys. how are you feeling about that? I mean, talk about a shot of adrenaline.
Starting point is 00:00:34 Training camp, like all that stuff, you know, was a slow build to this, and I tried to play it cool. I tried to play it cool. They're the defending champs. They have the number one player in the NFL. They got a quarterback that looks like he can take this league
Starting point is 00:00:47 by the Cajonis and run with it. This is awesome. I am fired up to see that banner drop tonight. I love that the players are like rearview mirror in it. It's the cat. Cowboys, it's NBC, the whole league is watching. This is awesome. The players can do that.
Starting point is 00:01:04 The players can focus on a job at hand. You don't have to do that. No, I'm getting nude. You can make sure that the Cowboys are well aware of what is happening tonight. The thing that happened to the Eagles this year is they won the Super Bowl. The thing that happened to the Cowboys this year is they traded away their best players. It's really quite funny that Micah Parsons is not even on the Cowboys. And, you know, you talked about it with Mina the other day.
Starting point is 00:01:27 the idea of the amount of pressure they've put on Kenny Clark to stop the Eagles offensive line and Saquan freaking Barclay. I hope Saquan has a huge night. I hope the run defense of the Dallas Cowboys is getting dissected on every level about how bad it is again. And I hope the Eagles just gash them up.
Starting point is 00:01:48 All right. So we have a lot to get to on this show. Let's get some thumbs up for the birds here. Come on. Yeah, there's some interesting Eagles news on the inactive front. We're going to hear from E.J. Smith, who is live at The Link.
Starting point is 00:01:58 We're going to hear from Fran Duffy, who's going to break down why he thinks the Eagles will still have success in this game on the ground. Obviously, Sequin Barclay coming off one of the best running back seasons of all time, going up against a Cowboys defense.
Starting point is 00:02:11 That was terrible against the run last year. Will that continue? Fran will tell us what he thinks. But first, Jamie, a little something different on the show today for those of you watching on YouTube. What is that? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:23 And if you're not normally watching and you're just checking us out for the first time, obviously like and subscribe. If you want to get real sick, Bose, we have some sickos that follow you around. If you want to support us here at PHLY, we have a new YouTube membership.
Starting point is 00:02:37 It's called the Supporters Club, and there's a lot of cool stuff going on. There's custom emojis. There's loyalty badges in the chat, and exclusive behind-the-scenes content for supporters. It's the Supporters Club. You help us out. You gain access.
Starting point is 00:02:56 you gain custom emojis, Bo. We got a doing guys emoji. You can only use that if you are in the supporters club. So that's live with us now. Check it out and support us here. It's going to be a lot of fun. All right. To the matter at hand here, Jamie.
Starting point is 00:03:11 You mentioned Jalen Hertz as somebody who could take the league by storm here. What are your expectations for Jalen Hertz this season? To be great, to be the steward of another great team. I think it's fair to have expectations on pressure on this team. to have a legit shot to repeat. You know, I think they're the upper echelon. They're the gold standard of the NFL right now. And, you know, look, in 2018,
Starting point is 00:03:35 there was probably some Super Bowl hangover stuff that happened the next year. Now you're returning, yeah, you lost Milton Williams, you lost Josh Swett, you lost some guys. There's no reason this team can't go back and do it again. And Jalen Hertz, I think between the ears, the mentals, he has the right frame of mind to lead this team to success again. And I think he has a chance to stamp his stature in the NFL as one of the greats.
Starting point is 00:04:01 And it will be very interesting to see in this game with a new offensive coordinator and Kevin Petulow. Do they make this a Sequin Barclay game again or do they want Jailen Hertz to throw the ball a little bit more? A.J. Brown has talked about putting a stamp on being the best wide receiver in football this season. Obviously, Devante Smith and Dallas got out there. There are lots of mouths to feed. Jalen Hertz has carried himself with the swagger of a Super Bowl champion. in all off season. I'm curious to see if we get the the swagger version of Jalen Hertz tonight or the
Starting point is 00:04:31 just don't turn the ball over Jalen Hertz version. Yeah, it's going to be interesting. The Kevin Petullo aspect of this is interesting. Like, are we going to get a new look offense? Are they going to be pushing it downfield more often? Are they going to be going for bigger chunk plays? I think AJ and Devante want that. You know, they want to have big impacts
Starting point is 00:04:48 on games and, you know, we'll get to that later in our pregame picks. You have one of the best wide receiver rooms in all of football. You have one of the best running back rooms in all in football and you have one of the best offensive lines in all of football so how kevin petulow puts that together how it looks different from last year i'm really excited and maybe a little bit anxious to see how it goes yeah shout out to everybody uh in the chat let us know what you think is going to happen come on the birds in this game going to see some familiar faces
Starting point is 00:05:13 francis and and davis oh we have our first supporter there we go our first supporter Dave, shout out, our first supporter. Shout out to Jane and Kakey Wolf out there somewhere. Okay, let's get to the inactives that we have here. And some interesting little nuggets here for the Eagles. The most interesting thing to me, Jamie, is that both Aziz Ojolari and Agbo Okaranko are down for this game. That's good work by you on the...
Starting point is 00:05:38 Thank you very much. That means that there are only three edge guys active in Nolan Smith, Jalick's Hunt, and Josh Ushay. Now, there are guys inside who can kick out, there's also Jehad Campbell and Zach Bonn who can play on the edge. So just an interesting little thing there as Aziz O'Jalari makes an inauspicious Eagles debut. Yeah, what do you think Uncle Vic has of his sleeve here? Because I think you're right about Jehad Campbell.
Starting point is 00:06:01 We might see him unleashed a little bit at the quarterback, maybe some different fronts. But that is odd to only have three true kind of edge guys in the inactives here. So it's going to be very interesting to see this new look defense too. And then, of course, there's other elements of the defense. I'm a little anxious about too outside of the edge rusher. But I feel great about Jalick's Hunt and Nolan Smith. Seeing the footage of Nolan Smith the other day, you know,
Starting point is 00:06:28 talking about playing through the injury and like F you and his attitude and his kind of sickness between the ears in a good way is very exciting stuff. So like Nolan Smith might be one of the most important eagles on the team. Sure. Yeah, there are big expectations for him. He's also going to have to play like 80% of the snaps tonight. Yeah, he's going to have to play a ton.
Starting point is 00:06:48 and he's going to have to produce at a level that they expect him to, which is, you know, very high. He has to be like a double-digit sack guy for you. He has to fill Josh Sweets' shoes immediately. He and Jalick's Hunt have what should be a nice opportunity in this game against Terrence Steele and Tyler Guyton, mediocre tackles for the Cowboys at this stage. Tanner McKee, we should note, is down for this game. He was ruled out. He's got that finger injury.
Starting point is 00:07:12 There is no third quarterback for the Eagles in this game. So it's just Jalen Hertz and Sam Howell has your backup. Yikes. And if disaster strikes, disaster strikes. And then the backup offensive lineman with Drew Kendall down. That leaves you with Brett Tooth and Matt Pryor and Fred Johnson. Ty Robinson, the rookie fourth round pick, is inactive. That means that Gabe Hall and Byron Young are active.
Starting point is 00:07:31 And then we should also say Marcus Epps, who was on the practice squad. The ex-Eagle, of course, is back. He's elevated for this game. He'll be your emergency safety. And Patrick Johnson elevated to play special teams. Yeah, Patrick Johnson just can't quit the birds, can he? They can't quit him? It's a nice relationship.
Starting point is 00:07:48 Yeah, it is. Something's going on there. I feel bad for Patrick Johnson, the guy who was like on the team week one last year, misses the Super Bowl, then he comes back again. You know, get that guy. He did get a ring. Oh, all right. There you go.
Starting point is 00:08:02 I'll take that right. It's a bad for him. All right. Time to take our first break. And on the other side, we will check in with E.J. Smith live at the link. You get all of the wonderful writing from E.J. Smith and Les Bowen and yourself. And you get Fran Duffy doing guys and wait a little the day to be. You want to get you.
Starting point is 00:11:19 get in now while the sales happening. I think we've already seen one of the emojis there. Fantastic. Because Fran's going to do a lot of guys coming up here and the database alone is worth the price of admission. You mentioned Les Bowen. He is here. He's going to be joining us on the post game show with Vinnie Curry. Vinnie's back. Jamie Lynch
Starting point is 00:11:35 and myself after the game, so stay tuned for that. But for now we head to the link where E.J. Smith, our Eagles Insider, is just taking note of everything that's going on. He's trying to see if he can find himself a nice backdrop. Let's see if E.J. can live up to the standard, the very high standard we have here. Is he here? E.J.
Starting point is 00:11:58 The backtrud. Do you think he's nervous? You know what? Oh, there is. Oh, E.J. Look at you got the haircut. How did it go with the barber? It went well. It went very well. Yeah, but are we going to spend, come on, it's Eagles game day. Are we going to talk about my barber? Yeah, how long did you get him? I mean, again, shout out to my barber. He did a good job. Listen, he takes his time. He's very, very methodical. But we can appreciate that. You know, it's better to be, to be thorough than to be too quick here. He's a craftsman.
Starting point is 00:12:27 Yeah. Bo and E.J. with the fresh game day Super Bowl champ cuts. I mean, it's week one. What are we going to do? Had to do it. Hagger? How to do it.
Starting point is 00:12:34 All right, E.J. Let's start with the inactive. Nothing crazy here, but a little bit surprising to only have three edge guys active in this game. What jumps out to you there? Yeah, I mean, they got Patrick Johnson up too. So I guess you can, you can count him as the fourth. But he really isn't necessarily somebody that you want. want to have a heavy workload off the edge. So yeah, no, I'm surprised. I mean, Azizzo O'Jlari, I didn't see
Starting point is 00:12:56 him out there. You know, I did see Ty Robinson out on the field in streetclose. So, you know, it didn't seem like there was any injury there with him. Again, maybe it's an upper body thing. But, yeah, I am a little surprised. It's not like Aziz had a great summer. So it's not overly surprising that maybe he wasn't necessarily a big part of the rotation, but to not be up and they'll also have not have obo Okoronkwo up. I mean, that is definitely a surprise that they're going that late at the edge. And then with with no Britain Covey elevated in this game, what are your expectations for what we're going to see in the return game? Yeah, I mean, I would guess John Dotson probably takes punt return duties. I mean, maybe Cooper to Gene in like a high leverage spot. But yeah,
Starting point is 00:13:34 I was also surprised. I thought that Britt and Covey made a lot of sense as a, as a practice squad elevation. They must feel pretty good about Jehan Dots. I mean, he did it in college. He did it in high school. He advocated two return puns for the Eagles. And we've seen him get more repetitions with that since he advocated for it. So yeah, that's my guess there. But I definitely thought Britt and Covey seemed like somebody who would have made a lot of sense if you didn't feel good about Jahan Dotson, at least catching the ball back there. E.J., as E.J. is with us on the Exfinity Mobile call in line. E.J., any observations from warm-ups? Sometimes, you know, Adori Jackson and obviously Sidney Brown are going to be the starters on paper. Did you get any sense of
Starting point is 00:14:12 McCuba and maybe Bennett working in a little bit more? Do you expect to see them in some packages more than just like the quote-unquote starters tonight. Yeah, so actually I just got a text from one Zach Berman. I feel like I got to give him a shout out for this. He texted me to let me know that Andrew McCuba is working next to Reed Blankenship as we speak. So as we are talking right now, Andrew McCubba is getting some reps with Reed Blankenship and the pregame warmups. So maybe he will have a bigger role than we anticipated.
Starting point is 00:14:44 Again, I think that it was kind of headed that way before the injury. so it's not overly surprising. But yeah, I do think that there's a chance that he might have a bigger role than we thought. Sydney Brown, maybe he did overtake Sidney Brown kind of behind the scenes in the last few days. All right. There are a lot of things and questions that are going to be answered
Starting point is 00:15:01 when we actually see what they do in this game. But let's dispense with the guessing, EJ, give us the scene of what it's like at the link right now as the fans are there to welcome in the defending Super Bowl champions. Well, I've been here since like 4 o'clock. So I have really gotten to see things. It wasn't necessarily a flex. I was trying to avoid the traffic because I knew that the energy was going to be
Starting point is 00:15:24 at the level that it's going, that it has been so far. There's a lot of energy around the stadium for sure. And when you pull in, you can just tell, even, you know, getting here at 3.30 in the parking lot, 3.45 in the parking lot. You could just see it was packed. There was a lot of traffic even then. A lot of people tailgating, including my sister. She was out there.
Starting point is 00:15:42 She met up with me. Did you not know? And then believe what? I knew she was here. but what she, what I didn't know is that she ran into Cliff, our good friend Cliff, who we love. Yeah, Cliff sends me a video of him and my sister at a tailgate. I was like, what is going on?
Starting point is 00:15:57 So I'm sure that he's got some state secrets on me now that I need to be worried about. Hopefully she has some news that she can break. Yeah. You know, maybe we'll see if she can break some news, you know, Jesse two scoops. But yeah, there's a lot of energy in the stadium. They've got some Super Bowl champion paraphernalia around the stadium. the Eagles Tunnel that they're running out from has Super Bowl champs 52 and 59 over it. So, yeah, there's definitely some new additions.
Starting point is 00:16:24 And, you know, we got a sneak peek of the banner a few times. The people who are in charge of unveiling it. Again, it's not going to be raised. It's already up. But the people who are unveiling the banner have done a couple practice runs. So we've gotten a chance to see it. I may or may not spoil that on social media. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:41 So, you know, I might have spoiled it on social media a little bit, but you know so if you want to see it before they bring it out you're going to have to check there now new edition ej i thought it was boys to men tonight i boys to men was out there warming up and they they sound good they still got it so absolutely yeah there's like i said a lot of energy here yeah so what are your expectations oh man ij in on the jillian now on the jillen hurts front uh what do you expect to see from him tonight yeah i think i think you know we're going to see a comfortable version of him. I think that they're, I don't know what sample size is going to be.
Starting point is 00:17:20 I mean, again, especially against this Dallas defense defensive front that was not good at stopping the run last year. I could see them really leaning into the run game. But in those opportunities where Jalen Hertz is going to have to go into the drop back passing game, the play action game, I think that based off the summer that he's had, both on the field and really just, you know, the body language being able to kind of see how he's navigated the last few months. I do feel like we'll see a more comfortable version of him. You know, I think it's important to mention at the last few seasons. The Eagles offense has sort of, you know, stumbled out of the blocks.
Starting point is 00:17:50 We haven't always seen them be perfectly in sync from the outset. But, you know, they put up a lot of points in Green Bay in Brazil or against Green Bay in Brazil last year. So we kind of still, they have enough talent. They should be able to overcome even a slow start. So maybe not the most like in sync start would be my guess. But I do think that, again, what we've seen from Jalen Hertz this summer, I am bullish on him, you know, making the most of the opportunities that he does have.
Starting point is 00:18:13 So, E.J, the thing I can't stop thinking about is how this. Dallas Cowboys offense plays the Eagles defense in one particular area. C.D. Lamb is a monster in the slot. Cooper Dijin, a monster covering the slot. Adori Jackson, a little older, maybe not as good on the outside. Do the Cowboys and Brian Schottenheimer try to exploit C.D. or pickings on a dory, or do they bring C.D. Lamb inside and put steel against steel, Cooper Dijin versus C.D. Lamb. what's your what's your read on that and what do you think's going to happen? This is going to be one of like the ultimate cat and mouse game, games of the game.
Starting point is 00:18:52 You know, it's the game within the game, if you will, I feel like if C.D. Lamb is in the slot, you know, that kind of neutralizes some of what he is able to do. Obviously, he's a matchup advantage against just about anybody,
Starting point is 00:19:02 but you're used to having slot corners that you, that aren't Cooper de Gene in that position. So I wonder if Schadenheimer will play both of those guys on the outside. And then I wonder how Vic Fangio responds to that. Does he have Quinnian Mitchell responds to that? follow CD Lamb and try to help Adori Jackson out on the other side, or does he try to double CD Lamb with Adori Jackson and Reed Blankenship or Andrew McCuba and then have Quinion have the tough job on the opposite side of the field in solo coverage against George Pickens?
Starting point is 00:19:29 And then beyond that, you have to start asking yourselves like, okay, well, what about motion? What about if they start to move CD Lamb around the formation? And that's my guess. I would imagine that the Cowboys are prepared to move CD Lamb around the formation, try to complicate things for the Eagles and keep it, keep it from getting stagnant and being able to kind of have those predictable matchups for the defense. So yeah,
Starting point is 00:19:49 I think CDM is going to move around a lot. I think he probably still will be in the slot because of how dynamic he is, but I think that there are also a lot of chances here, especially on like those money downs and those third down situations when you have to have it. Having those guys on the outside really does create kind of a mismatch
Starting point is 00:20:04 with Adori Jackson on one side of the field. Yeah, to me that is, we're going to see it all, right? Sure. And it'll how the Eagles respond. will affect how the rest of the game goes. But to me, yeah, where CD Lamb lines up is one of the most interesting things in this game. Because, frankly, if the Cowboys get anything going on the ground,
Starting point is 00:20:21 it would be a major disappointment for the Eagles defensively, right? Yeah, absolutely. I mean, even if they don't have to roll a safety end of the box, you know, we all have kind of, especially if it's going to be Andrew McCuba, I think we have questions about how he's going to look flowing down against the run. But, yeah, I think that this Cowboys run game, especially with your boy, Jaden Blue, as part of the inactive's here, Bo. Like, you know, the run game isn't exactly what we're, what we're really going to spend a lot of time thinking about going into this game. It really is that passing game, that receiving core. And really to see how that Prescott looks. You know, I'm curious to see how he looks in this new offense. How much pressure do you think Kenny Clark has on him tonight, E.J. You know, the fixer of the run defense. And Michael Parsons was no good. And he's here to fix it. And oh, yeah, here's the best offensive line in the league in this guy named Seekwan Barkley, who just happened to be voted the number one player in the NFL by his peers.
Starting point is 00:21:12 Yeah, you know, if you're Kenny Clark, you've got to be thinking, what did I just get myself into? And he didn't even get himself into it. That's the most unfortunate part. They said, hey, you're going to Dallas. And now Dallas is going to put all these expectations on you to be the guy that stops this historic Eagles run game going into a new season. So yeah, listen, he's going to have a tough job today, especially with Landon Dickerson. I saw him out there earlier to earlier during warmups. It seems like he's moving around just fine. Doesn't seem like the back is all that much of a hindrance. So if he is close to 100%, you know, that interior. your offensive line. We've seen Tyler Steen have a really good summer. It's going to be tough for Kenny Clark to really be able to make that run stuffing impression that I think that Jerry Jones has been building up for the last week or so. All right. E.J., thank you so much for joining us on the Xfinity Mobile call-in line. Great debut. People maybe a little. Give me a grade on the backdrop. A little bit angry that you're wearing Cowboys Blue, I feel like, is the feedback I heard. You know, I said this to Julia, my wife, Julia. I said this to my wife, Julia, that like maybe, Yeah, wearing the blue, people might say, oh, E.J., you're wearing Cowboys colors.
Starting point is 00:22:15 And she's like, it's just Navy Blue. It's, you know, so blame my Julia for that one, not our Julia or anybody else. How about that, EJ? That's on brand for you. You know, you are always on here. You're in the tank for the Cowboys. Get them in the NFC championship game. All right.
Starting point is 00:22:32 E.J, we'll talk to you after the game on the question. We got to get the official prediction. We got to see how he does. Okay, EJ, what's your prediction? Yeah. You know, I was thinking about this on the LVI, elevator ride up to the press box. I said, if they're going to ask me for a score prediction,
Starting point is 00:22:45 I got to be ready. Did everybody call the correct name on that elevator ride? Yes. Everyone called me the correct name, and I didn't have to relive any traumatic experiences. All right, score prediction time. I'm going to go Eagles 31, Cowboys 20. I think that there is a chance that this game
Starting point is 00:23:07 is a little bit sluggish out of the blocks, but again, we've seen the Eagles come out sluggish in an opener, and still be able to put up points. I think that they will be able to run the ball against this Cowboys offense. And again, our Cowboys defense. And I think that Jalen Hertz will be able to take advantage
Starting point is 00:23:19 of the opportunities that he does have. So I think the Eagles will be able to put up points. This Cowboys' offense, the receiving course scares me a little bit, which is why I don't think it's going to be just a complete blowout. But I think the Eagles should be able to control the game. We've seen them do that so many different times. And because of that, yeah, I've got them winning comfortably,
Starting point is 00:23:34 31 to 20. All right, E.J., thank you very much. We will talk to you on the post game show. Enjoy the game. And hopefully you don't get in, much trouble by just blaming everything on your wife, Julia. She's tough. She can take it.
Starting point is 00:23:48 Thank you for joining us on the Expedited Mobile call in line. And as a true pro, he's talking about the Eagles running game. Well, that is a perfect segue for us to bring you to Fran Duffy, breaking down why it is that this Eagles running game should still have plenty of success against this Dallas Cowboys defense. All right. So Eagles Cowboys, let's take a little bit of a closer look here into this matchup, but we're going to focus in on the Eagles running game anchored by Sequin Barclay,
Starting point is 00:24:14 the number one player in the league as voted by the league over the course of this off season. When you're looking at Sequin Barclay, one of the bread and butter plays for him in that magical 2024 season was counter run. It's a gap scheme run where you've got offensive linemen, you've got blockers on the move, you've got double teams at the point of attack, and the Eagles had some really good adjustments using that counter run play last year. We're going to look at a play back against this Cowboys defense from 2024. and see exactly what I mean. Now, what I like about this play, the right guard is Tyler Steen.
Starting point is 00:24:45 Mackay Bechton was injured on this play. So we get to see Tyler Steen in action on this one. And we're going to start right at the snap of the ball. You're going to see that you've got Tyler Steen on the move. He is going to be the puller. He is the first man in here at the point of attack. Because you're going to get two blocks here from Landon Dickerson on the defensive tackle.
Starting point is 00:25:03 You have Jordan Milata working up to the backside linebacker. That means that Tyler Steen, his job is to come and block the place. play side defensive end. That is Micah Parsons. We know that he's not on this team anymore. Now, Michael Parsons, he knows that this is a bread and butter play for the Eagles. And he does not want to get blocked out to the sideline. It's really going to be Tyler Steen's job to get Michael Parsons and displace him, try and block him as wide as possible, and give Seekoine Barclay a really wide lane. Seyquan Barkley's aiming point is going to be on the inside shoulder of Tyler Steen. So Michael Parsons, again, he knows this. He wants to get to that inside shoulder
Starting point is 00:25:39 and force Sequan Barclay to bounce this outside. So you get to the next shot, you could see that Michael Parsons does what is called spilling this block. He's going to cross Tyler Steen's face and try and force Seekwon Berkeley to bounce this outside to his help. I love the adjustment here from Tyler Steen because once he realizes that, you know what, I'm not going to be able to block him towards the sideline.
Starting point is 00:26:01 I have to now turn my hips around and get him pinned as far inside as possible and keep that lane as wide as I can force Seqwan. Barkley. Now, E.J. Jenkins is the rapper here on this play. Now, you're inserting Dallas Goddard, maybe it's Grant Calcutera. Could be Ben Van Sumer in here in this role. But whoever that's second man in is, once he sees that, all right, Tyler Steen is now creating the inside part of this alley. I now have to create the outside part of this alley. So he's going to get up to the playside linebacker. Here comes E.J. Jenkins. If he tries to block his man inside, that clouds the picture for the running back. So it's going to be up to E.J. Jenkins. He now has to
Starting point is 00:26:38 get his guy on the run and block him to the perimeter. Saquan Barclay has to navigate this as best he can. This is a great picture. You see that you've got Tyler Steen wrapping Michael Parsons. He's got Parsons on the ground. E.J. Jenkins does a great job of blocking this inside out and creating that outside lane for Mike or four Sequine Barclay to get up to the second level. You've got Jordan Milata on the backside linebacker.
Starting point is 00:27:02 Grant Calcuttaire, he's on the force defender. The Eagles have hat on a hat here. That's exactly how it should look. And now you get Sequan Barkley up to the third level. You got A.J. Brown with a crackback on the safety. That gets Sequin released up to the third level. This was a run that was extremely well executed by the Eagles last year. We saw that adjustment from Tyler Steen and E.J. Jenkins, a couple of guys that were role players a year ago.
Starting point is 00:27:25 With added experience here for Tyler Steen here this summer, I would expect that the Eagles will continue to keep executing this run play at a high, high level. And I expected to start tonight against the Dallas Cowboys. This rushing attack, they're going to be up to their old church. here against Dallas and Week 1. And let me tell you why. Starting point is 00:29:36 We did. A couple hours ago. I got a little beef stick right here. They've got all kinds of stuff and you really can taste a difference

The ExtenPA-based company has been making all natural premium quality better for you meat snacks for over a decade. and evolved into the region's preeminent jerky brand. All right, Jamie, we are about 18 minutes away. So let's turn the ship here towards our bets, our predictions, and then a little special surprise at the end. Okay, you are the Bet365 man.
Starting point is 00:31:06 We know that you have been on a heater on these kickoff show bets for two years running. Can you make it three in a row? How are we starting? And we're doing things a little different this year. We got everybody gets 100 units. Yeah. We're going to keep track.
Starting point is 00:31:21 And first, I have to give a shout out. After your righteous felon read, Bo, the girls, Skyler and Paige, they would like everybody to know that they are big righteous felon fans. All right. Just got the hot text off the press. Oh, that's fantastic. They're all in on the righteous felon. But back to our bet three.
Starting point is 00:31:37 six five, uh, bets. I think A.J. Brown is going to come out tonight. You know, they rested them. I never was worried about him being ready for opening day. I think they just said, AJ, you don't have anything to prove in camp. Let's make sure you're ready for a week one. Kevin Petulow and his new look offense. Jalen Hertz wants to put, uh, you know, that wax seal on his status in this league. I think he's going to connect with A.J. Brown in a big way tonight. maybe over newly paid Duran Bland a bunch. I like him on the player highlight package there. Over 80 receiving yards tonight.
Starting point is 00:32:15 That's plus 145. I like that action a whole lot. I also believe in A.J. Brown tonight. And I am just going with an A.J. Brown touchdown at any point in this game, plus 150. I feel very good about that. I feel like even if AJ is not, if this becomes a Sequin-Barkley game, they are very aware of the fact that AJ wants to stamp
Starting point is 00:32:36 this season is the best receiver in the game. They are going to get him touches in the red zone. I feel very good about that when I went 50 units on that. I went 25 on my AJ, so you're very confident there with the 50 unit spot. Next one I took tonight, again, I think it goes hand in hand with AJ Brown. I'm going Jalen
Starting point is 00:32:52 Hertz. First touchdown plus 400. You know, they have a new partnership. You know, they want to shove the leagues face in this. They are down inside the two-yard line. And that That's what's going to get the crowd going. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:07 Get them in a lather. Jalen hurts. First touchdown plus 400. I think we should keep track of the tush pushes this year. Let's do that. Absolutely. Why not? It's a big part of their identity.
Starting point is 00:33:18 All right. My next bet, I'm going, I like Jalickson's matchup against Tyler Guyton, the left tackle, who's been injured and was up and down as a rookie. We saw the last time Jelux Hunt was on the field in February. He was awesome. Now he's obviously going to be playing a lot in this game, given the depth of the defensive edge guys in this game. So I like Jalix Hunt for a sack plus 150.
Starting point is 00:33:39 I only went 20 units there. Yes, and on my Jalen first touchdown, I went 25 units. My final bet, I'm sticking with Jalen. I'm riding them for a 50, 50 unit spot here. I'm going Jalen Hertz over. Oh, you believe it. You believe the hype. I am all in on Jalen.
Starting point is 00:33:55 I don't, something about how cool this dude is and how mentally he prepared he is. give me the 2.13 and a half through the air. I'll take the over tonight on Jalen Hertz's passing yards. All right. And I am closing up my Bet365 pregame picks with I just, I don't think that the Cowboys are going to be able to run on this Eagles defense. And we don't even know if it's going to be Giovante Williams or Miles Sanders. So I'm going. Javonte Williams under 10 and a half carries minus 150. I'm not getting a ton of action there, but 30 units. I feel like, that feels like a very safe bet to me. And if you also want to make your bet 365 bets, just in time. Of course, you can go to Bet365, download the app. And there's also that parlay you see
Starting point is 00:34:36 up there that is available for anybody. Yeah, that's the P-H-L-Y Eagles podcast, custom same game parlay. It opened a plus 500. It's actually dropped down to plus 400. Good for you. I think, yeah, I think, you know, I was ahead of the game. So if you see that right there on the homepage of Bet365, pounce on it early, because usually I make them adjust. Must be 21 or older and physically located in Pennsylvania. If you are someone you know has a gambling, problem and wants help call 1-800 gambler all right jammy should we do the predictions here or should we should we should we should we do our own unveiling i think we should do our own unveiling and then make out with the predictions okay are we doing ourselves or are we going to let's get intern
Starting point is 00:35:16 it in here even come on in here we got our own unveiling don't tell the eagles don't tell nick seriani this is happening we're focused on the show you can enjoy the banner we're keeping this one show at a time We got to climb the mountain. We got nothing to defend. We just got to go out and get it. But you can watch as headless intern, Ethan, goes ahead and unveils. Woo!
Starting point is 00:35:43 Oh, the throne Super Bowl banner. Two-time Super Bowl champions. Oh. That is a fresh purchase from the Eagles Pro Shop today. Thank you very much. Old Johnny two times. I like seeing two-time Super Bowl champion up there. Utah, make it too.
Starting point is 00:35:58 What an unveiling. Great job. Ethan. Give it up. Give it up. Let's get some thumbs up for each. for Ethan. Let's go, Ethan.
Starting point is 00:36:04 I mean, you've got to be a supporter for that. And speaking of support, by the way, before we leave, we've got to mention that this is Giving Month for our friends at Big Brothers Big Sisters, our partners. And so you will notice, if you are watching on YouTube, there's a button to the side where you can donate to the good folks at Big Brothers Big Sisters. We know what a difference they make in the community.
Starting point is 00:36:22 So, you know, support them. And it's Plus, Bo, it's good vibes for the Eagles. Yeah. If you donate a little bit to Big Brothers, Big Sisters, you're helping your community. The birds pick up. on that stuff down at the link. The fumble is going to bounce the right way. Yeah, absolutely. So there they are. Take care of our community. It's a great, great organization.
Starting point is 00:36:39 So anything you can give helps 100% of all proceeds go to Big Brothers, Big Sisters during their month of giving. So thank you to everybody that can help Big Brothers Big Sisters. All right, Chairman. We're closing in. Time to get to it. I imagine you would think the Cowboys are going to roll here. Well, I do. Deck Prescott seems to play his best football versus the Eagles. I think that could be very good in this game. He absolutely could. So my thought process all week has been this, Bo. My dumb reactionary brain says this is an over.
Starting point is 00:37:11 This is going to be a shootout. And if it's a shootout, the Dallas Cowboys can hang. I'm a little bit worried about a Dory Jackson, a little bit worried about Sidney Brown. If him and George Pickens get into a mental battle this game, oh man, you can see some fisticuffs. Then my logical brain goes, well, the defenses are always ahead of the offenses at this time of the year.
Starting point is 00:37:33 So that tells me it's going to be an under. And if it's going to be an under, I'm going to go with my logical brain here. I'm going to go with a logical thinking that the defense is ahead of the offense. The Eagles win the game. I'm going to go with, I like EJ's 31. I don't want to do the same thing as him, so I'll up it to 34. I'm going to go, oh, but then I got to keep it under. I'm sorry, I'm all over the place.
Starting point is 00:37:55 I'm going to go 2820 birds win, misses by the whole. hook on the over. Okay. I like that. Listen, I can see how this could go wrong for the Eagles. On defense, where the Cowboys are weak, offensively is those tackles. And it's possible that Nolan Smith and Jailikson are not quite ready to take over this game.
Starting point is 00:38:17 Between Tyler Smith and the first round pick Tyler Booker, it's possible that they are able to keep Jalen Carter at bay. And we definitely think that between Cid Lane and George Pickens, they will find a way to be able to get those guys on Adori Jackson and Andrew McCuba or Sidney Brown, whoever is out there, I can see the Cowboys scoring points. And listen, we have seen the Eagles come out a little bit
Starting point is 00:38:38 like, you know, not on fire on offense sometimes. It takes some time for things to click offensively, but I just cannot get there in this game. I think the Eagles will be able to keep the variance low by giving the ball to Seque and Barclay. I don't think the Cowboys can stop them. I do think this game is going to be maybe a little bit closer than more.
Starting point is 00:38:59 uncomfortable than Eagles fans would like, but I think the Eagles are going to win this game. I think it's going to be a little bit tight in the fourth quarter, but give me the Eagles 24 to 20. All right. We're not too far off there, each other's predictions. And yeah, I would be surprised of the Cowboys win it, but it's certainly, like, there's something in the back of my mind that goes, Dak Prescott just plays well versus the Eagles. He struggles versus a lot of other teams. He plays well versus the Eagles. So I'm a little. I mean, there is also a chance that it's 30 to nothing in the second quarter. Sure. Just getting shots of Brian Schottonhe's. who could bet on this dupus.
Starting point is 00:39:32 And then Jerry Jones is like thinking about jumping off the owner's box. Like that is on the table as well. Yeah. And I love Howie Roseman playing the mental gymnastics with the Cowboys too and getting involved with the. Of course he wanted to trade for Michael Parsons. If you're a fan of another team and you didn't call about Michael Parsons, you should stop being a fan of that team.
Starting point is 00:39:50 All right. We are going to close things out here on the PHOI Eagles pregame show presented by Bet365 and Ashley. We will be back at halftime for a quick recap of the first half. and then don't miss the postgame show afterwards with Vinnie Curry, Jamie Lynch, Les Bowen. We're going to hear from E.J. Smith. We're going to hear from Fran Duffy.
Starting point is 00:40:08 We're going to hear from Nick Siriani and the guys in the locker room, all kinds of good stuff coming. Enjoy the first game of the 2025 season as the Super Bowl champion Eagles have their first chance to defend.
