Hello, everybody. And welcome to an emergency podcast. Everybody's wondering, the Eagles have so many of their key players hitting free agency this offseason. What's the big move? What's going to be their priority? Is it going to be finally locking up a linebacker long term? Is it going to be sticking to their roots and bringing back a young defensive lineman like Milton Williams or a productive player like Josh? Is it going to be fortifying the offensive line?
bringing back Mackay and Beckham Beckton.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Howie Roseman's priority.
In the middle of everything happening in the combine,
all the NFL world watching him, what's he going to do,
how is he going to back up his second Super Bowl title,
make his Hall of Fame case?
There's only one answer, baby.
And it is the signing of running back.
Lou Nichols.
back to the Eagles,
emergency podcast worthy,
Bowulf, Fran Duffy,
and what do you think?
Book a trip to Santa Clara
for next February, baby.
I mean, look, we know that when you get to
Indianapolis, this is where the action happens,
right?
The Eagles, you know, you're itching to make a move.
You have Zach Bond,
Mackay Beckton, you went through the names.
But number one priority
was to make sure that Lou Nichols
was back in the fold here for 2025.
I know you're very excited about what this means
for mini-camp coverage.
I know you're excited about
what this means for training camp coverage, but obviously a huge move to to bolster the depth of
the Eagles backfield and clearly on the forefront of the Eagles mind as they are touched down here
in Philadelphia last night. No doubt about it. And I know that there will be Eagles fans wondering,
is this an opportunity for the Eagles to sell high potentially on Sequin Barclay coming off
the offensive player of the year worthy season, arguably the best season in running back history?
Do they consider extending him or, you know, do you take a chance to maybe go back to basics in the backfield, see what you can get for Sequin Barclay and move forward with a Lou centric backfield that might be too spicy.
But listen, how Zach Berman told us today that how Roseman said, Eagles fans, be patient.
We may have to buck some conventional wisdom this offseason.
That would be spicy, Fran.
Look, you can't rule anything out as we sit here on February 25th, 2025.
You know, there's all options are on the table.
And I think now when you just look at what the depth of this running back room looks like,
and again, what this means for the competition in camp, in practice.
I mean, where did he rank?
He was at least sixth or seventh on your camp crush list by the end of the summer.
Who knows if he's able to rise up the board.
This is the week of people rising and falling up boards.
I think when you're looking at Lou Nichols, a lot of room for movement here this summer.
The diehard sick goes will, of course, remember Lou Nichols?
one of the final three for the Bow Wolf Camp Crush last off season,
along with E.J. Jenkins and Thomas Booker,
who both went on to ply their trades.
All of them will be receiving Super Bowl rings at some point this spring.
And so, yes, Howie Roseman, the man, the myth, the legend,
making it happen, bringing back sweet, sweet loo to Philadelphia,
worthy of an emergency pod.
That's all we got.
Then I'll do it for this emergency podcast on,
P-H-L-Y Eagles podcast.
Welcome back, Lou Nichols to Philadelphia.
All of a sudden, the Eagles, once again, fortifying the best backfield in football.
And as you think about, you know, Kevin Petulow, what is this new Eagles offense going to look like?
Rest assured that Sweet Lou will be a part of it.
Check out Fran and Zach on tomorrow Wednesday's show at 2 o'clock live from Indianapolis,
as they tell us the NFL's reaction to the Eagles bringing.
back, Lou Nichols.
