Starting point is 00:00:21 Eagles show on a beautiful Monday live from the Expendity mobile studios and presented by Bet365 and Ashley, we've got E.J. Smith back from Tampa cooling off. We've got the great Franny Films. Fran Duffy, ready to break this down for us. I'm Bo Wolfe. We've got a lot to talk about. But Fran, this is a nice, we're going to silo our focus on this bad boy and really dive into what is going on with the Eagles running game. Are you excited? Always excited. We're going to be breaking down some film today. And as a reminder, because we've had a lot of people in the chat, like in the YouTube comments, asking like, why are we showing screen grabs and not video? Don't take it up with us. Take it up with the NFL. That's all I could say.
Starting point is 00:01:04 NFL going after everybody, content creators left and right for copyright infringement to try and, you know, promote their game. He's worth. Yeah, it's a whole. Friend, we have to get started on this early. Clips. Shots. Yeah, clips. you know, the, anything except for grabs. We're open. We're open. I'll leave it to the chat.
Starting point is 00:01:26 You know, Fran has offered. I don't leave it to the chat. Franny's frames, but, Brian has to beat the grabby grabs. And so far, nothing has beaten the grab and grab.
Starting point is 00:01:34 No, Peter. They're on the wrong side of history. Grab and the comments. Unfortunately, it's the tooth base may be out of the tube here, friend. Yeah, I just, you know, to me, like,
Starting point is 00:01:44 I don't, it's going down a path. I don't want to be associated with who are getting into these grabby grabs- I just, it's this. The NFL puts this out on my head here. Franie frames, there go. Player one in the men. Thank you, Player 1.
Starting point is 00:01:55 Franny frames, yeah. I stand with Fran on this one. You know, we can't have this guy associated with grabby grabs. Come on, what are we doing? It's grabs. I mean, it's the grabby grabs. I stand with Fran. Solidary.
Starting point is 00:02:08 We want to support for the grabby grabs until I see otherwise. That's what we'll go with. E.J., how are you, my friend? How were your travels back from Tampa? I'm doing well. Yeah, my travels were. Smooth, easy. I had a layover in the Charlotte Airport,
Starting point is 00:02:21 and I don't know, for you guys may be familiar. Those can be dicey sometimes. If you get taken from one, if you get on one end of the airport, it can be tough to get to the other end. But I had like the dream scenario today. Same plane. I didn't even need to leave the plane I did,
Starting point is 00:02:38 but I wouldn't have even had to. Same seat on the same plane. So, yeah, nice and smooth today. Friend, we should address the fact that this is, I believe, two weeks in a row. or two out of the last three weeks where EJ has told us he's not going to make the Monday show, you guys go ahead and do it and then come like 11 o'clock, he's like, actually, you know what, I think I'm going to be on the show today too.
Starting point is 00:02:59 I mean, isn't that like a compliment to you guys that like if I can stand or, you know, stay awake for another hour, like, I want to talk about the game with you guys. I get excited for it. You're such a martyr, E. Thank you so much for a hour's sleep. All right. Let's get into this because obviously there's a lot to talk about from this game. We can get in later to some of the interesting things going on on defense, what's going on with the edge rushers.
Starting point is 00:03:28 Obviously, Jalen Hertz's performance in this game is something we need to talk about. It was unbelievable in the first half and then 0 for 8 on 11 dropbacks in the second half. But we want to really make this show today about what is going on, generally speaking, with the Eagles running game, which was so dominant last year. And I have been thinking a lot about since you brought this up on the postgame show yesterday, Fran, about just the idea of the offense had to figure out who they were last season after four games. And that's when they really turned to making it the Saquan and Barclay offense. And they may be in a similar position here where this offense is maybe not what they think it is. And we're going to get into all of that stuff.
Starting point is 00:04:09 So Saquan Barkley yesterday, 19 carries for 43 yards, 2.3 yards per carry against the Bucks around defense. that is very good. And as you pointed out last week, AJ had not allowed a running back over 50 yards. So that was frame. Okay. Well, I didn't win that. You take that into account. And yet this Eagles offense that was so good at it last year, struggled. So we're going to look at 16 of the 19 runs for Sequin Barclay, Fran. Let's get into it. Let's get into the grabby grabs. Let's get into the frames. Let's get into the shots. Let's get into these plays. All right. To me, you know, it's one of the big things we talked about, yesterday like you mentioned was do the eagles have to rethink their identity and all offseason we talked
Starting point is 00:04:50 on the show about how you have to expect some kind of regression with this run game now it has gone the opposite like further than what we expected from a regression standpoint but you know one of the big things about explosive runs is that that is not a sticky thing from from year to year week to week month to month you can't expect that to continue time and time again because you need so much to go right. And honestly, one of my big takeaways from watching this run game yesterday is that it was not one thing. You know, I think everybody, again, we've talked about this with like the past game last week where everybody looks and it's like, what's wrong with this? It's got to be Tyler Steen. It's got to be Grant Calcutara. It's got to be Sequin Barclay. It's got to be Kevin Petullo. When again,
Starting point is 00:05:32 in reality, every play you're looking at all right, like, we're going to pick this apart. We're going to pick that apart. And that's why I kind of thought that this would be a good, a good conceit for this show. And we'll start on the, the first run of the game for Seiquon Barkley. It happened on the second drive. It's first and 10. We'll go to the first one here, Julia. So Sequant A, again, it's first and 10 here on this play. The Eagles come out in 12 personnel. The Bucks respond in their base defense. Now, it's a loaded box. You've got eight defenders for seven blockers. Now, this run goes for seven yards, but it goes, it's a little bit wonky. So if you go to the next shot here, Julia, you can see that what we're going to find
Starting point is 00:06:09 is that Grant Cacotter is going to come in motion before the snap. Jalen Hertz is under center. it looks to me like Calcutera is supposed to block the backside defensive end over on our far left of our screen. But if you go to the next shot, the ball is snapped as Calcutera is right behind Jalen Hertz. And so he has to like kind of alter his path so that he does not run into Jalen. And when he does that, he ends up really far in the backfield. But not only that, if you go to the next shot, you get the linebacker reacting to the motion before the snap. And that kind of carries him towards the path of Sequan Barkley. And so if we go to the next shot here, you could see that the motion brought the linebacker into the hole because Calcutera had to alter his path. He does not have a
Starting point is 00:06:53 clean shot at that end man on the line of scrimmage. So you've got both guys here in the B gap that Seekwan's trying to hit this. And miraculously, if you go to the next shot, Seekwan actually puts his foot in the ground and he cuts this to the backside and he goes for seven yards. So right off the bat, just like some details here with the run game are a little bit off. And it leads to what could have been a really messy play, but thankfully, Sequin's able to make something out of nothing and it turns into seven.
Starting point is 00:07:18 Do you think that's bad design, bringing the motion there against that look? You know, it's just one of those things. Like, and it's because you don't know how defenses are always going to react to motion until you do it, right? And I think that that's one of the things
Starting point is 00:07:30 that we've seen in the past. And you talk about like the, the Shanahan and McVeigh offenses and everything that's going on in the NFL. They push these buttons early, push every button early to see how the defense responds. But on this one, you saw, all right, they bumped the line back
Starting point is 00:07:43 over against that look when you had that even set when they brought the into the motion into that y-why formation that's how the linebacker responded okay let's get to number two all right so there's going to be some themes that emerge but let's see you know let's get into it yes yes so we'll go to the next one here this will be uh play b here julia so uh this is the very next play so it's the same drive second drive of the game very next play now the eagles are in 13 personnel again jalen hertz under center you've got calcutara on the right you've got dallas got it on the left And then you've got Cameron Latu lined up as a fullback in the backfield. EJ, please contain your excitement until we get to the end of the play.
Starting point is 00:08:21 So here on this one, this is going to be just a basic stretch toss play here from the Eagles. We go to the next shot. It's going to be a stretch toss to the left. So Hertz is under center. He takes the snap. He's going to toss it out to Sequan Barkley. You're trying to get the defense to over-pursue. You're going to stretch the front side.
Starting point is 00:08:38 So everybody kind of just creates that, you know, get latches onto a guy and runs their feet, hoping that Sequan can kind of put his foot in the ground and you can cut for a big gain through the middle of the defense. We saw this against the Eagles a couple of times last week. Well, on this play, if you go to the next shot, Dallas Goddard loses at the point of attack. And so Reddick is able to kind of clear that block and get in the backfield. That forces an early cutback from Seekwon. And you could see there's a lane there. But when Seekwon puts that foot in the ground right here, he slips.
Starting point is 00:09:05 And so it ends up being a two-yard loss here on the play. It ends up being three, brings up third down. They run a double screen out of empty where you had Sequin to the right. You had A.J. to the left. They're blitzing from that side. I would imagine this is a play where like AJ might be looking at this. Like, man, like I wish the ball went to me here because there just aren't a lot of bodies that way. But I get the idea of that, right, we don't want to throw into the blitz.
Starting point is 00:09:27 We want to throw away from the blitz. So either way, the Eagles are forced to punt here on this position. Do you think that would have been a big gain there? On this one, on this run. Yeah, I think that he probably would have been a big gain had he not. slipped. You know, and you could look at her. He was forced to kind of cut early because got it lost pretty quickly at the point of attack, but still a pretty clean cut where Sequin most of the time, he doesn't, he doesn't slip. Right? And on this one, he slipped. Just for the
Starting point is 00:09:58 record, though, we are two plays in and we have two tight ends losing at the point of attack causing some havoc in the backfield. You know, Bo, you mentioned like the themes developing. I feel like that's something that we should keep an eye on here. So let's do this. Yeah. Let's say, let's break this into three categories. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:10:18 For what goes wrong with these plays. Let's say one is a skill issue. Okay. One is a design issue. And one is just bad luck. Yes. So this second one, you chuck up to bad luck because he slips? I think so.
Starting point is 00:10:31 I think this is like one of those like, you know, nine times out of 10. This doesn't happen. And on this one, it did. You know, I saw this one I would say this is a bad luck play. Okay. And that first one, would you go skill or design? I don't know if it's skill as much as like execution. That makes it.
Starting point is 00:10:48 I would say that that might be a difference there. It might be it might be a design issue as well. Like who that's what we don't know, right? Is like, was that the exact timing of when the snap was supposed to be in relation to the motion? Is that how it was coached? Or did the guys mess it up on the field? That's one of those things that we don't know sitting here. Maybe skill's not the right.
Starting point is 00:11:08 the right way to phrase it we'll call it execution right i think that's fair and then is the other one just you know should we just say play calling and make you know if it's making it make it make it an umbrella term right yeah potentially all right all right well before we get into number three here fran let's let's get into what we are calling our ford drive of the game presented by your local ford store the forward drive of the game, Fran. Let's get into it here on this next two plays. All right. So this is the third possession of the game. And so, Julia, we're going to go to Sequin C here.
Starting point is 00:11:44 So third possession of the game. It starts. Jalen Hertz hits Dallas Goddard down the seam against cover two. Similar to the touchdown last week. Perfect layered throw over the linebacker behind the Tampa two guys. So it's a big play first down. Very next play. The Bucks have a bust in coverage.
Starting point is 00:12:01 Grant Cockterra's wide open, 16 yards for a first. down. So right off that, you go pass, pass, big play, big play, and we're moving. So now you come out on the very next play, and you've got first and 10, 11 personnel against Nickel, and the Eagles are going to run a counterplay. And they did not run any gap schemes last week. The professor, Dana is Selman, pointed this out last week. We didn't see any really gap scheme runs from the Eagles against the Rams, where you've got pulling linemen and you got those guys, you know, the double teams of the point of attack. Well, they come out here on this drive and you're going to get a counterplay, a counter run play.
Starting point is 00:12:34 And so, Julie, if you go to the next shot here, the first thing with counter, you're going to get those down blocks on the play side at the point of attack. So you've got Maelada blocking down. You've got Dickerson blocking down. You go to the next shot. Now you've got your puller, your kickout block. That's going to be Tyler Steen here on this play. So Tyler Steen's going to wrap around and he's going to take that first guy on the end
Starting point is 00:12:52 of the line of scrimmage. It looks like it's going to be that linebacker there where the arrow ends. So he's going to kick that guy out. And then behind him, you're going to have the rapper. And on this play, that is going to be Lane Johnson. go to the next shot. Here comes Lane. And I'm here to block.
Starting point is 00:13:06 Yeah. So Lane is going to pull, is going to wrap around. And he's typically going to get that backside linebacker that's lined up on the right hash here. And so that is how you're going to see counter. You're going to get those down blocks at the point of attack. And then you've got the two linemen pulling from the backside. If we go to the next shot, you see Tyler Steen's going to wrap around. He's hunting up that linebacker.
Starting point is 00:13:26 He's in good position here. So now the big thing that you're going to see with Sequin Barkley, and it is a little bit different based on. off of each version of counter because sometimes that rapper might be a tight end. It might be a fullback. It might be the tackle like it is here with Lane Johnson. And depending on if this run was from under center or the shotgun, how Sequin is reading this might change.
Starting point is 00:13:45 But what you typically see is that when you have counter, the running back is going to aim off the inside shoulder of the wrapper. So again, in this scenario, that is Lane Johnson. So, Julie, if you go to the next shot here, we're going to see that you have Lane Johnson preparing to block this backside linebacker. linebacker, he knows this, right? He knows, all right, they want to be able to hit this off the inside shoulder of Lane Johnson, basically right up the hash mark. Now, so what you'll see from the linebackers often is that they're going to attack that inside shoulder. They're going to force the
Starting point is 00:14:16 running back to bounce this out. And so they kind of play to his help. So what you've seen the tackles do in the past, what you've seen guys like Lane Johnson do is, all right, if you're going to attack me inside, I am going to block you inside and just push you as far towards the middle of the field as possible. And Seekwana has done a nice job of kind of reading off that. And on this one, he just kind of misreads it. It was a little bit of a delay here. You go to the next shot here, Julie. You could see Sequin is basically right on Lane's backside. He's cutting inside right where the linebacker is. And so to me, this is one where I think Seaquin would probably want to have this back. He probably want to cut this a little bit further outside.
Starting point is 00:14:52 And that's where the green grass is going to be. I see, I get why he ends up going on that path, because that's where it typically is going to hit. But because of how the blocks kind of demonstrated themselves and how the linebacker from Tampa Bay attacked it, that's just kind of how it played out. And it looks like Steen has his guy blocked to the inside as well. So if he does take it outside, he might have room to run. Exactly. And so it's just one of those where, you know,
Starting point is 00:15:16 that's like half unlucky, half execution. And you probably lean more towards the execution end of it. And again, I think that's one where Sequin would probably want that one back. Yeah. Maybe it's more execution by Sequin versus, you know, execution by the rest of the team. Yes, I would agree. It really stands out because, like, you hear these guys in the locker room talking about how they're close to some of these explosive runs.
Starting point is 00:15:37 And that one stood out as like a you can see the space. And, you know, if he had just gotten into that space, you expect that they would have been able to to break off an explosive run there. So, yeah, I do think it's important to point some of these out as we do get through into the second half where it maybe gets a little bit more bleak. And then what happens in the next one, Mr. Duffy? So a couple of plays later, you've got third and long. Jalen Hertz rolls to his left. He hits Devante Smith for a 20-yard gain, gets him into the low red zone.
Starting point is 00:16:04 So on the very, you got first and goal. We'll go to the next one here, Julie. This is going to be red. So we're in the red zone here on this play. It's first and goal. And what you're going to get on this one is the Eagles come out in 12 personnel against the Bucks base defense. And again, you're going to get that same counteraction here on this play.
Starting point is 00:16:22 So Julie, if you go to the next shot, you're going to get the down blocks from the left side. So you got Maelada blocking down. You've got Dickerson blocking down. very next shot you're going to see that you've got tyler steen kicking out he's going to come and he's going to block that playside defensive end this time it's going to be dallas goddard as the rapper so if you go to the next shot uh julia it's going to be dallas goddard coming around so he's the second man in here uh leading the way for saquan barclay we're going to let this play and you're go to the next shot and you're
Starting point is 00:16:50 going to see that uh the linebacker he's looking he's like all right like here here comes i'm going to i got to i got to i gott but don't i'm a little little bit of the linebacker he's looking he's looking he's like i'm ropey dope here. This isn't this isn't a Sequin Barkley run. This is why I talked about this in the post game show yesterday. This is a great play to run when you have counter in the playbook in the game plan on a weekly basis because it looks just
Starting point is 00:17:11 like counter, but this ends up being the shovel pass to Dallas Godor. Julia, if you go to the next shot here, you can see that you've got Tyler Steen. He gets up on that linebacker. You've got Dallas Godder catching this here and you can see the crease that he's got. So a really clean execution there of the shovel pass and why it was just to me
Starting point is 00:17:27 a really good play design, really good job of the coaching staff getting this into the game plan this week to work off of all the different counter runs they're at awesome stuff and that'll make it be forward drive of the game for a reason nice job for kevin petulow in the low red zone all right much more to get to here as we continue to diagnose the eagles running game but first a word from our sponsors so a j brown puts out that weird tweet uh yesterday which which we can talk about in a little bit e j um but he he puts out that tweet he lands in Philly last night and I tried to get a hold of him like
Starting point is 00:18:04 AJ what did you mean by that can we talk about it so he invites me over says let's watch this this Cowboys Packers game and unfortunately I get there the whole thing was a mess his setup ridiculous lagging buffering switching between apps trying to find the game he claimed he was a big football fan but it was like I was

Starting point is 00:19:03 The F-150 blends work-ready toughness with modern-day tech and luxury, offering six power chain options, including a hybrid and a fully electric lightning model. Or you could go with a 3.5-liter power boost hybrid V6 with 430 horsepower and an amazing towing capacity. Speaking of that towing capacity, it's best in class with a 14,000 pound limit depending on configuration. I owned an old truck when I was in college and I think rusted like crazy with these pensions. Pennsylvania winter roads, but that's why Ford have gone to a military-grade aluminum alloy body, which is tough, lightweight, and corrosion-resistant. The F-150 offers plenty of creature comforts as well from Ford Blue Cruise for hands-free highway

You also get a 360-degree camera system, which is great for tailoring, parking, and off-roading. The F-150 comes available in so many ways. you can get a regular cab, super cab or super crew, and to select a bed length that fits with your needs. For more information, visit your local Ford store. All right, back on the PHY Eagles podcast.
Starting point is 00:20:11 And let's just take a step back and look at the overall numbers for Sequin Barkley through four games. Julia, this is the 2024 versus 2025 for Sequin graphic that we have. And I mean, you just see yards per carry 5.8 down to 3.1, 125 rushing yards per game down to 59. The success rate, not totally different, but a significant drop off there. And we're going to get to the yarns before contact because I think this will reveal itself as this exercise with Fran goes on.
Starting point is 00:20:42 But it has not been very good. And so let's keep going into why that might be Fran. Let's get to play number five that we have here. Yeah, let's go to Julia to D, to Sequin D here. So this is the very next drive after the. the drive of the game. So after the Dallas got her shovel pass touchdown, the Eagles get the ball back. And it's first and 10. First play of the drive. And they come out in 11 personnel against Nichols. So you've got one tight end on the field. This is that 11 personnel of the John Mecci package here.
Starting point is 00:21:11 So you see Mecci lined up on the left. Hurt is in the pistol with Seikwan behind him. And this is going to be a gap scheme run called Duo. So on this play, you're going to get double teams at the point of attack. And you're going to get the wide receiver inserting up. John Metsch is going to insert in between the tight end and Jordan Milata and block that next level defender. Julia, if you go to the next shot, you can see that this is going to be a run that's going to go to the left. There goes Metschi releasing up.
Starting point is 00:21:37 Sequan's going to, he starts his approach to the left, but you see that Jalen hurts, he just turns to the wrong side. And so he turns to the wrong side. Now, he recovers really really well. Julie, if you go to the next shot, he pirouettes and is able to get the ball into Seekwant's belly, you know, and they were able to get the exchange off fairly clean, considering that he turns the wrong way. but again, it's just kind of like another example of like the details not quite being there.
Starting point is 00:22:01 Sequin does an outstanding job here. Again, of kind of making something out of nothing. He puts his left foot in the ground. He cuts back the opposite way, finds the breakout lane, and he's able to make this a seven-yard pickup on first and ten. So another play that could have been a disaster. He's able to turn into seven. So it has not all been bad for Seekwon in that way.
Starting point is 00:22:19 And you see that one. I mean, they do really blow them off the ball on that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that was one where it's like, all right, the offensive line. did their job. Metschi's got a hat on a hat point of attack. Dallas Goddard does a nice job there.
Starting point is 00:22:31 Like if that's clean, Sequin is off to the race, not off to the races, but he's hitting that hole with a full head of steam. But because of the fact that he kind of had to stop, now he's got to find the cutback land and he was lucky that he was able to. Okay. That's an interesting one.
Starting point is 00:22:46 Tough one for Jalen, but a good recovery. All right. What have got next? So that's a good one. That's a good one. Exactly right. Let's go to,
Starting point is 00:22:54 let's go to E. So Seekwan E here, Julia. So two plays later, you have the John Metchie, very next play. Jalen hits John Metchie underneath for a first down. So it moves the chain. So you've got another first and 10 run where the Eagles come out in 11 personnel. Yeah, or no, this one's a 12 personnel run first and 10 going up against the base defense. So you've got a Y, Y set.
Starting point is 00:23:15 You've got both tight ends off to the right. That's where Saquan Barkley is. This is going to be just a basic inside zone run. And if we go to the next shot here, Julia, with the inside zone run, with this formation against this front, you're going to have both tight ends kind of double teaming that backside defense event. So you're going to really need those tight ends to just get to be able to wash him down and just kind of use his momentum against him. You need those blocks to the point of attack to do well, especially when you've got Vita Veya lined up in there. So Lane Johnson's one-on-one. You've got a
Starting point is 00:23:43 double team between Cam Jorgans and Tyler Steen there on the nose tackle. Everybody does their job here. It's a really nice job. If you go to the next shot, you can see that Seekwan plays right off the tight ends. He's able to put his foot in the ground. He gets downhill. And this one goes. for this one goes for seven yards so uh you've got three seven yard pickups here this is probably the cleanest run on the in the first half from sayquah barkley okay we're up to we're up to two out of five good run so far i find dallas goddard's uh stance very funny like the he kind of looks like a frog yeah he like squats down really he's been doing that he's been doing that over guys knees gonna be balking a little bit good for him maybe uh you know we're working into the stretching routine
Starting point is 00:24:24 an example for all of us. Yeah, mobility is important. All right, let's keep it firing here. Yeah, let's go to the next one. So we're going to go to F, Julia. So now basically we've got a few plays later here is now that you've crossed into enemy territory. And now you've got that failed like fake orbit motion swing past to Sequin Barclay that gets tackled for a five-yard loss.
Starting point is 00:24:49 And then Hassan Reddick's like sacks, Jalen Hertz for a two-yard gain, point you know the play where he kind of steps up uh so now it's third and long and this is the first time where it's the third and long run play now uh jalen hertz lines up it's third and long and you see it's a rush package here from the bucks you've got stand-up rushers inside uh now they are not blitzing they end up bluffing here on this play where they're going to drop everybody out on this one now when you're this is just going to be a basic inside zone run from the eagles and what you saw as a change up in the past from them is like all right well if we if we have the running back in the shotgun and we're going to run inside zone if the running back is lined up to the left like natural momentum all right this is
Starting point is 00:25:28 going to be an inside zone to the right on this play and one of the changeups in the past has been what we call same side inside zone so julie if you go to the next shot basically it's like an awkward uh kind of a change up for the from a footwork standpoint for the running back and for the quarterback offensive line is blocking left and sayquan is going to run left so it's a little bit of a delay so it looks like a draw it doesn't it's not a draw but it's an inside zone play so it's an inside zone to the left, but because the bucks were in the rush package, and then they show that they're going to, they're going to blitz, and then they drop out into coverage, the linebacker Savasier Dennis, he's like dropping back into coverage.
Starting point is 00:26:05 That's Cam Juergens' responsibility, but he can't get on him because he immediately retreats at the snap. Well, now Dennis has a running head start with a two-way go to beat Cam Jurgens. I don't blame Jurgens on this one. This is just, this one is, I don't, it's something between like unlucky and like, should this have been the plate call, right? like would you have been better off if you wanted to run it, just run inside zone? Or you can get into the idea of like, all right, well, we could also like put the ball in the quarterback's hands and let him try and throw it on third and 12.
Starting point is 00:26:32 It wasn't like it was third and 20. So here on this one, Dennis is able to beat him. If you go to the next shot here, Julia, you can actually cycle through it even to the next one after that. And you can see that Dennis is able to beat Juergens and he's able to get home and ends up being, I believe, a two-yard pickup there for Sequin Barclay on third and long. And the Eagles bring up fourth down. Now, I want to pound the table for something here, Bo. I feel like this is play calling. It's third and 13.
Starting point is 00:26:56 What are we doing? Like, with a, with a, I mean, we can't call it a coward's draw because, as Fran just pointed out, it's same side zone. So we're going to call it a coward's going to call. It's a coward's draw. I think we put it all into the coward's draw. It's all encompassing. And obviously, this has been on my radar as the person who invented the coward's draw. So here's the deal.
Starting point is 00:27:20 I looked it up this century. This is a great one. The team in the NFL who ran the ball the highest percentage, just is just designed runs. So you take scrambles out on third and 11 plus. So you've lost yards on the first two downs is the 2016 Houston Texans, who did design runs 44% of the time. Right now, through four games,
Starting point is 00:27:42 the Eagles have had, I think, 12 of these such plays. and they're running at 58% of the time. Like, now, it's only four games. I'm sure they're going to break this tendency at some point, but that is wild, considering how well Jalen Hertz is playing. Yep. That's like two standard deviations away from what is already the high for a team. Now, you know, I'm sure that that will come down a little bit,
Starting point is 00:28:10 but what are we doing? You've got AJ Brown. You've got Devante Smith. Give them a chance. I agree. Yeah, I mean, especially, again, we're not talking third and 18. We're not talking third and 25. Like, third and 13. Honestly, like Jalen hit Devante Smith to set up a touchdown on third and six or third and eight earlier for 20 yards. Like, there are plays in the playbook that you can achieve a first down with third and 13. I don't know if this is like a holdover from, you know, past seasons where it's, we don't necessarily trust Jalen to air it out or take shots down the field. We are not that we are not dealing with this version. of Jalen Hertz anymore. I don't know if we ever really truly were. But like this season, we've talked about the strides that he's made as a processor
Starting point is 00:28:54 and the decision making that he's shown. Like, there is no reason to your point with as much talent as they have on the perimeter or not to take those chances. Well, there's an interesting wrinkle here because there's actually a team in the NFL that has run it even more often on third and long this season, but they've only had a handful of such opportunities. Can I guess? Can I guess? Sure.
Starting point is 00:29:14 It's the Colts. Oh, the Colts. Colts and show you, I don't know if this is like a Stuyken-Siriani philosophy, or if you think that Giel and, like, Nick Siriani believes that Jailen Hertz is the kind of quarterback that Shane Stuyken believes Daniel Jones is, but that's an interesting little. That's E.J.'s boy you're talking about now. What's that? I said that's E.J.'s boy you're talking about now.
Starting point is 00:29:41 Isn't it sad that my guess was one of my other boys in Justin Fields? I mean, but with Justin Fields, I understand it to a certain extent, but yeah, we're not there. Yeah, we're not there. Can I ask, do you guys think that this could be like this philosophy could also be an overcorrection to, you know, everybody's making the parallels between this team and like the vibes of 2023, where, you know, the defense was more the issue in 2023, in my opinion, you know, especially after they made the switch, where in my opinion, they didn't need to make that switch at defensive coordinator. but offensively we remember like you know Jalen uh you know the Seattle game where he changes the play
Starting point is 00:30:17 and he throws it deep to AJ Brown and it's intercepted and it's like no we are we are going this is not going to be our identity where we're after the Super Bowl where this is going to be the thing do you think they are trying to go too far over correct to not be that version of the offense after the Super Bowl run like I don't know I've just been thinking like the conservative nature in those situations specifically stands out to me I don't know what it is it's it's it's it's madden it if I think there's something I think there's something I think there's something about Nick wanting to lower the variance for their games and how much they harp on turnover avoidance and really just like defaulting
Starting point is 00:31:00 to they have enough talent where if they just don't have turnovers and they win most games so it's hard to argue with that with that formula but I still feel like they're not maximizing what they have offensively because of that formula. So I think that they, yeah, no, I think that that 2023 season does inform a lot about this version of the Eagles, but I do think that some, a lot of the parallels are misplaced in my opinion. I don't think that's really on the table for this Eagles team. We are, I'm repeating myself here because we've had this conversation, but it is not, it is not a binary thing where it's either turn the ball over or hand the ball off, right? You can call a safe pass. And I'm not
Starting point is 00:31:39 even saying a wide receiver screen or something like that. You throw the ball deep. That is generally a low, like, turnover probability play. So, like, there is room, there is a room the size of a football field in between those two things. All right. Let's take another break. We'll come back with more. I believe we're like a third of the way through the Sequin-Barkley experience so far, courtesy of our Somalié, Fran Duffy.

Let's get back into it, diagnosing Sequin Barkland and the Eagles running game with the goat, Fran Duffy. All right, let's go, Julia, to Sequin G. So we're going to go to G here.
Starting point is 00:35:10 This is the first run of the third quarter, first play of the third quarter. So it's first and 10. The Eagles come out in 12 personnel. It's an even set where you've got a tight end on each side. You've got Jalen Hertz under center. And you've got Sequin Barclay in the backfield. And this is going to be just a straight downhill run where, again,
Starting point is 00:35:30 you've got the motion coming from our right to our left. So you go to the next shot here. You're going to see the tight end come across the formation. Again, the linebackers are going to bump off. This is a loaded box, which is fine. We've seen a lot of these other shots there. a lot of these other plays that I've shown also had loaded boxes where you had plus one for the defense. It's not a fair fight from a number standpoint.
Starting point is 00:35:52 But here, the motion brings that linebacker in. And we go to the next shot. You can see that the ball snapped. Jalen's turning around. He's going to hand this to Saquam Barkley. Servassie-Dennis has a clean run. The offensive line is doing their job here from a like a number standpoint. It's hat on a hat across the board.
Starting point is 00:36:07 No one misses a block here. It's just that the unblocked man goes downhill and makes the play in the backfield. meet Sequan Bartley order the next shot here, Julia. You can see that you've got the linebacker in the backfield, meeting Sequan Barkley behind the line of scrimmage, and this one goes for a loss. And so, you know, it's funny. Like E.J. kind of texted me, asked me about this play specifically earlier today.
Starting point is 00:36:29 It's like, oh, well, like, what do you do on this one? I don't, look, I don't have all the answers from that statement. All I can say is, like, in that situation, first in 10, 12 personnel, whether they just are keyed into it. it, whether it's, you know, you need to do something else to make sure you kind of even the box count. I know there were some questions in the chat earlier. Like, do they need to run more zone read to kind of level it out a little bit? They actually ran zone read like three or four or five times in the game and Hertz was pretty effective on it. You know, they, they were able to pick up
Starting point is 00:37:00 some decent chunks with Jalen Hertz keeping the ball on some of those zone reads. So maybe they need to lean more into that. But overall, I mean, that was a good example of they just teed off. like the Dennis flew downhill. He was untouched, unscated, and he's able to get in for a TFL. Yeah, I just wondered if this was like a Jalen Hertz says to check out of this one. Like, this is not the right look for this run play. That was my curiosity with it because it's just watching it. It's like, man, they got no chance on this one.
Starting point is 00:37:28 Is it, is there a world in which Sequin makes that one guy missed last year? I don't think. I mean, it's possible, but I don't think you can count on that one. Just because, like, there are, there are examples. later in the game where it's like, all right, like they're, you're minus one, but it's the, the only guy that's left is the safety at the third level and Sequin meets him at six yards. And it's like, oh, like, all right, like, ideally, Seekwon's able to make this guy miss and he's off, you're not making that guy miss in the backfield. Like, I think that's, that's just a lot to ask.
Starting point is 00:37:57 Okay. All right. So let's put this one on, on the umbrella of play calling, but this could potentially be on, on Jalen for not checking out. Yeah. Not a good look. We'll go to, we'll go to the next one here to H. So, this is the very next drive. So now, all right, actually no this is actually a couple drives later this is right in the midst of like the whole three and out uh stretch right so uh again that last one where dennis got the tfl that was the opening drive of the third quarter so next drive they go three and out where hertz runs on a zone read for seven yards and then they go incompletion incompletion in completion end completion next drive and then he gets sacked on the uh the one play action pass play so that's that the next drive so
Starting point is 00:38:34 three drives into the third quarter this is sequan's next touch here it's first and 10 12 personnel it's seven on the here it's seven on seven in the box right so now they're they're kind of you can see there's actually two high safeties here on this play so uh the eagles have the advantage here from our the advantage from a number standpoint and they're just running again another counter run play we go to the next shot and you can see you've got your down blocks at the point of attack calcatera's going to work up to the linebacker you've got dickerson he's going to kick out number 88 the d or number 98 rather the defensive end you've got the tight end coming across i believe that's granson here on this play as the second man in as the rapper. So here's your counter run play. This should this should be this should be
Starting point is 00:39:13 a first down kind of looking play here for the Eagles. You go to the next shot, Julia. You could see the one guy I've got circled is Calcutara going up to the second level, taking on Servassia Dennis. Everything else looks pretty good. The offensive line doing their job here on this play. Unfortunately, for the Eagles, Calcutara gets stood up at the point of attack on this one. If you, Julie, if you go to the next one, you could see that Dennis basically completely locks out, dismales, this males this block and he's able to meet Sequin Barclay for a stop. That one went for just a couple of yards. Yeah, I actually don't have that number down on this one. Two yards. Yeah, two yards. Thank you. So that's a two yard gain there, which that that was from that picture pre-snap, they probably felt good about that
Starting point is 00:39:55 in the booth like, oh, this one should hit. Yeah, I wrote disappointing two yards in my notes for that one. Did you feel like Landon didn't get like a lot of force on the kickout block there, Frank? He didn't, but it was it was enough for them to be able to. I think ideally. you probably want a little bit more. But it was, to me, the bigger culprit on that one was Capatera. Yeah, I just, I was, like, really looking for, like,
Starting point is 00:40:16 examples of Landon's injury showing out, because I feel like we default to saying, like, oh, he's not playing healthy. And I do think that's, that showed up a little bit, but, like, not as much as maybe I anticipated when I went through it. I don't know if you agree that it doesn't seem
Starting point is 00:40:28 like it's affecting him to the point where he's, like, a liability or anything like that. I think that anytime he's asked to do anything athletic, so the pools, it does show. He doesn't have the same. range. Getting up to the second level of my backers, again, doesn't have the same range. Pass protection, I think it shows up. We've seen him get beat a couple times so far this season in Pass Pro. But I think it was less of an issue in this game than what we saw the
Starting point is 00:40:51 first three weeks. Okay, so this one we put on execution for sure. Let's go to the next one. All right, so let's go to the next one. This one is I here, Julia. So on this one here, the Eagles come out in 12 personnel. And what you're going to get on this one is just your basic inside zone. And this one, we talk a lot about the drills that Jeff Stoughtland does and he does the same drills every day where they're working on those double teams and what they call surfacing blocks. And surfacing blocks is basically, if you imagine that there's going to be a double team and imagine it's just like a pad on the sled, basically the surface with which each guy that's part of the double team is able to strike that pad or strike that defender. So you want an ideal world,
Starting point is 00:41:34 you would like your guard to strike 50% of the pad and your center to strike the other 50% of the pad. And now you're getting 200% of your power going up against 100% of a defensive lineman's anchor, if that makes any sense. On this play, I feel like the surfacing was not great. Now, it's a, if you look at the block between Steen and Juergens, you've got the nose tackle right on top of Jorgans. It's a shade towards, towards Steen here on this play. If you go to the next shot, here, Julia. You could see that Steen gets a little bit out over his toes, and he ends up kind of overshooting here on this play. So Juergens doesn't get a clean shot at the nose tackle, because I think that Steen is just a little bit too far. I guess it would be too far inside by his angle,
Starting point is 00:42:20 by his leverage point. So he's a little bit too far inside. So now he ends up just getting stood up here at the point of attack. And if you go to the next shot, Julie, you could see the nose tackle just completely lock Steen out. And that's going to force that early cut from Sequin Barkley. He gets stopped in the backfield. There's not really great movement here on the backside. So it goes for a very short game. But to me, this started with just a bad surfacing here from Juergens. But more importantly, I think Steen was just a little bit off from a detail standpoint
Starting point is 00:42:49 here on this one. And how much of that is just also the player is good on the other side? Yeah, that's the other part of it, right? It's like, like, you know, at times you're going to just get beat. Like there are coverage plays last yesterday where Jalen Hurst drops back. on third down. There was the one sack that we referenced to the early in the third quarter. They were running dagger and Brady actually pointed this out
Starting point is 00:43:09 in the broadcast was like, yeah, like, Devante Smith running a comeback. Morrison blanketed him, great coverage. Zion McCollum read the dig route perfectly, got under E.J. Brown. Like, Jalen had nowhere to go. It was third and long, and the defense just won. And on this one, that's kind of what happened.
Starting point is 00:43:26 Now, I know that we got more place to get through here, but I wrote something on the on the flight home that I'd like to I'd like to read to you too. Fine gentlemen. This is a poem? To my esteemed podcast co-hots.
Starting point is 00:43:42 No. I write this to express my sincerest apologies for previously advocating for the Eagles to, quote, unquote, lean into using heavy personnel packages and condense sets to bully opposing defenses in the run game. Since this advocacy, I have seen far too many instances of the Eagles tight ends getting pushed around at the line of scrimmage and have realized the error in my judgment. And while I would like to acknowledge this idea first came to me during a hectic time of the year in which I was spending potentially too much time in the sun with insufficient sunscreen, there is no excuse for this mistake, and I want you to know that. Moving forward, my affection for the concussion uncle style of football will be limited to Cam Lott's appreciation and nothing more. I hope you can accept this apology, and for the sake of us all, hope that the Eagles will no longer try to make condensed sets with multiple tight ends or those formations with John Metchy as the H-back. a thing any longer. I will hereby respect all modern 11 personnel offenses and what they offer
Starting point is 00:44:37 in terms of balance of space for a healthy run game, signed E.J. Smith. Number one, as Claire said in the chat, wear sunscreen. Number two. Yes. You're way out in front of having no, you like apologize so fast and backtrack off your take so quickly. Well, I'm just watching these condensed sets and I'm just like, oh, E.J. What have you done? What were you thinking? I also want to get out ahead of your, like, let's just get out ahead of this now. Apology accepted for your Kam Latsu love for like two weeks from now when you give us the apology then. Oh, no. That one, that one we have to stick with it.
Starting point is 00:45:14 Well, hold on, because the other thing is your, your defensive philosophy is also concussion, unclely. Base, yeah. Live in their base defense. Well, how'd that work out for me? Well, I don't know. But here's the other thing we got to talk about if we're going to have a Cam Latsu conversation. you do realize, I hope everybody realizes, that the emergence of Kam Latu, which has been impressive, and it deserves a lot of credit, is the exact reason why Ben Van Zumrin should not have been on the week one active roster. Oh, this is clever by you.
Starting point is 00:45:53 It's not clever. It's the truth. That is a replaceable skill set. This guy's not even a fullback and he's doing what they need to do. And he's a better special team's player anyway. and he was just sitting there on the practice squad. All I got to say is I am colon arc of the beat because I got the Ben Van Zumrin thing right.
Starting point is 00:46:11 Right. And there's no relegated the wrong way like they were. I'm sorry that I was correct. I appreciate the reframing. I just wanted to say that a couple weeks from now, if they're still in those heavy condensed sets, I've washed my hands of this. I can no longer be affiliated.
Starting point is 00:46:32 EJ. Pro Monarchy, by the way. Snuck that in there. Now I'm going to have to write another note's apap apology. All right. Back on the P. on my Eagles podcast business out of the way get down the brass text let's get back to some ball let's get back to the stills let's get back to the shots let's go uh let's get back to grab
Starting point is 00:48:45 let's go uh let's say say quang j Julia we're gonna go a little fast here because we got we got a few a few plays left to go so uh say Juan jay it's 11 personnel inside zone point of attack and there's been some stuff in the chat too like oh like this is how the run game goes yes this this this is how the run game goes but if you're talking about it's one of the differences from last year where they had an insane run game where they were on a hit chunk after chunk after chunk to go all the way from that side to the opposite end of the spectrum, which is kind of where they're at right now. We have to explain like some of the issues and some of the things that are popping up.
Starting point is 00:49:21 On this one here, it's basic inside zone. Julie, if you go to the next shot, basically you're at you got double teams at the point of attack and these guys do a great job. I talked about the surfacing between Tyler Steen and Cam Juergens. If you look at that left circle, this is perfect. Against Vita Vaya, they're doing a great job here, surfacing this block. You've got Logan Hall there between Dickerson and Milata.
Starting point is 00:49:40 Those guys do a great job. But on the backside of this, on the far right of our screen, we can see that Dallas Goddard's going to lose the point of attack. So here on this one, and I'm sorry to Dane is, if you're watching, which I don't know if he's watching this one. I think he usually waits to watch the film himself. He is seen it. I sent it to him.
Starting point is 00:49:57 There we go. You said it to beautiful. So, Julia, if you go to the next shot, you can see that Godder gets stood up here by Yaya Diabi. and he gives up the play here. We go to the next shot and you can see that he gets, Diabi's able to impact Seekwon Barkley behind the line of scrimmage. This brings up, you know, what we showed before,
Starting point is 00:50:15 and Julia, we can flash up the other yards before contacting. I mean, if you want some statistical backing for the play of the blocking for Sequin Barclay, last year, he, before contact per run, 2.64 yards per carry, that was number one of all 41 running backs in the NFL. this year, it's just 0.95 yards before contact per run, which is 28th of 42 running backs. And if you just think, you know, last year, the philosophy behind getting Sequin Barclay was you've already got this offense with Jalen Hertz as a running threat behind the best offensive line in football.
Starting point is 00:50:51 He is going to be a multiplying factor. Right now they don't have the best offensive line or run blocking in football. It's not great. Yeah. And honestly, again, it goes to one of the things we talked about, the first. front where it's not like, oh, it's Tyler Steen's fault. He's the new starter, you know, because everybody has kind of taken their turns with all this. So if we actually, if we go to the next shot, Julia, if you go to Kay to Sequin Kay, that's another good example of it, where again,
Starting point is 00:51:17 the Eagles come out this time. It's 11 personnel. It's going to be a zone run. And right at the point of attack, if we go to the next shot, you can see that Jordan Milata ducks his head and lunges here against Logan Hall and completely whiffs. Go to the next shot. And you can see that he just get swam completely by and Logan Hall able to get into the backfield. Julia, if you go to the next shot, just a miss block at the point of attack from Jordan Milata there. And it results in a TFL against Barkley. So we've got a, we've got five executions so far. And we've got, we've got a Milana.
Starting point is 00:51:49 We've got a cockatara. We've got a gunner. We've got a steam. Like as you said just now, Fran, it's not like there's the same culprit. Everybody is a little bit of a part of it. And one of them is a Sequin Reed. One of them was a Sequin Reed. We had, you know, Jalen Hertz turning the wrong way.
Starting point is 00:52:03 We had running into heavy boxes. Like, and that's, I was thinking about this this morning as well. Think about the defense in this game last year, week four on the road in Tampa, looked terrible. And the defense yesterday looked amazing, by the way. Like, it was the, it was the opposite of last year's performance where, you know, where everything was, like, everything was extremely easy for Baker Mayfield. Ball got out fast.
Starting point is 00:52:29 He was barely touched. tackling was terrible and it was the complete inverse yesterday where there was no tight there was there was no loose coverage guys there was there was no air in the in the coverage at all and you had the tackling was really good for the majority of the day things can change quickly so this this run game can turn around but this is the issue they're facing right now it's just a little details here and there all right let's get to some super chats before we keep this exercise going we've got michael vick to deshawn jackson says shout out to my brother michael who is celebrating his name day today over here in the Czech Republic.
Starting point is 00:53:04 Oh. All right. What do you say? Do you say a skull in Praha to celebrate? What do you say? Can't help you there. Nothing? That doesn't sound right.
Starting point is 00:53:24 Now you're going to use AI for this. No, I'm not going to use AI. Anyway, let's keep going. We've got some more. I'll come back to it. some more super chats here. We've got Chase Daniel Plainview says, do we need to have a Jason Michael conversation?
Starting point is 00:53:38 I think this is more of a reflection of the personnel. So if anything, it's a front office conversation. We talked about the fact that they didn't even have an undrafted tight end in training camp. I think when you look at the lack of consistency from the tight ends in the run game, I think it is more about matchup troubles than anything else. Nasdravi. There we go. Nasdravi.
Starting point is 00:54:05 You comment in the chat. Nice job. All right. To Michael. Next up, we have another super chat from Joe Rockhead, who says John Clark reported Jahad Campbell left the game early. Any report on Y, EJ? No, he was in the locker room afterward.
Starting point is 00:54:21 He seemed fine. He obviously had the triceps thing going into the game, but I did not. There was no indication to me that he was dealing with anything. thing extraordinary. So actually, I think I saw this on your girl Olivia's social feed that Jahad Campbell, he had to leave right before because of like heat exhaustion. Okay, gotcha.
Starting point is 00:54:41 He said afterwards that he was fine. My girl, Olivia. Cliffs girl Olivia. Cliffs girl Olivia. Yeah. And then finally, June K says, and shout out to Kevin Wallace for becoming a supporter. June K says, did this team used to run a lot more read option? Would more of that keep defense is guessing is the.
Starting point is 00:54:59 Jalen Hertz injury risk too high, Frank? Yeah, I mean, we saw, we talked a couple weeks ago about how we hadn't seen any design quarterback runs at all. And then they changed that last week. We saw a little bit of Jalen Hertz keeping the ball against the ramps. We saw that yesterday. I mentioned a couple of zone reads. They had a really nice creative, uh, QB draw out of empty where you had like the fake orbit motion
Starting point is 00:55:19 into the screen to the bottom or to the left hand side and then Jayland's able to take off. Like they put the ball on his hands a little bit more often. But I do wonder if that's going to be something they try to lean into a little. a little bit more just to kind of keep people on their toes. If they really just don't want to be a passing team like in these situations, we are dead set on making sure that the run game is going to be our weapon. Well, then I think you've got to utilize Jalen Hertz a little bit more in that way than it to try to level the numbers out in your favor.
Starting point is 00:55:46 All right, you got some more France frames for us. Thank you. Yeah, we got a few. Let's go to let's go to Sequin L here. This is a 13 personnel. This is this is right up EJ's alley here where you've got two tight ends up in the line of scrimmage. You've got Cam Latu in the backfield as a fullback. This is going to be a counter run.
Starting point is 00:56:08 If you, Julia, if you go to the next one, you've got down blocks on the right side. Fred Johnson's in the game. You've got Dickerson pulling from the left to the right. And you've got Latu coming as the rapper on the backside of this. The timing here, not great where you've got, if you go to the next shot, Dickerson is pulling. and it was, I think, not a great block from Tyler Steen here, but either way, those guys kind of collide and you see the nose tackle. Elijah Simmons is able to get into the back foot.
Starting point is 00:56:37 We go to the next shot here. This is a rookie undrafted free agent nose tackle who's able to get into the backfield here. There's just a little bit too much for Steen to be able to handle, and you get Simmons in the backfield disrupting this play. You put this one on execution, or is this kind of a give-up look? I think that's an execution one. I think I put this one on probably mostly, mostly Steen, unless there's something in terms of like what Dickerson's angle was supposed to be on his pole.
Starting point is 00:57:04 But I think that's more likely than not that that's on steam. And shout out to Rad Frank for watching closely and giving us a Dallas Frogert siting on that one. Let's go to another one here. This one's actually, this is a really clean one. And, you know, it's funny. This goes back to remember the third long play that we talked about earlier. earlier where they did the same side inside zone on the Cowards draw. This is the second and 12th.
Starting point is 00:57:29 This is the very next snap after that play that we just showed. And this is Julia, this is play M. They come out in 11 personnel and the bucks are like, oh, well, surely they are going to be passing the ball in this situation. So they're playing a little bit of a rush front. You've got four down linemen with two linebackers. So it's six on six. And this is as clean as it looks.
Starting point is 00:57:49 You go to the next shot and you see Sequin Barkley releasing up to the second level. And this one goes, this was one of his, I mean, one of like two successful runs, I think, in the second half for Sequin Barclay. You know, if you do same side inside zone, I don't know if that one's going to work in this scenario, but they're able to go just basic inside zone, go right downhill for a nice game. To me, this is like, this is what the Eagles offense should look like. Like, if it is a past first offense, you then open up space for Stacquan Barclaylorpe's. Yeah, you get like, because after watching through it, Fran, like seeing the light box,
Starting point is 00:58:25 I'm like, oh my goodness, like, what is this? I haven't seen this all game. So, yeah, I think that this is like a good illustration of like what leaning more into the past game could open up for the run game. Yeah, in theory, right? I'm with you. That would be nice.
Starting point is 00:58:45 All right, we got a few more to get to, Fran, but unfortunately, they're going to have to come in Bolver die. Make sure everybody's like in the video, commenting below, all that good stuff. you can become a diehard now if you would like to. You get to read EJ's early bird. You get to read Les Bowen. You get to read Fran Duffy throughout the week.
Starting point is 00:59:13 All fantastic stuff for the low, low price of either $59 or $39, depending on if you want that handsome hat, that beautiful green P.H.O.Y hat. All right. What do you got, Fran? Let's go to N. Julia, we're almost, I think we're just about to the end here. So this one's 12 personnel. You've got two tight ends on the right hand side. It's going to be another just basic inside.
Starting point is 00:59:34 zone. It's a different box look, a different box count from the defense here. And again, when you're when you're dealing with the run game, a lot of times it really is like it's a bunch of one-on-ones. Like sometimes, yeah, you're going to get double teams at the point of attack, but a lot of times it's just going to be like, can your guys win one-on-one? Can the right guys win one on one? And on this next shot, Julie, if you go to the next one, you could see that Cam Jorgans gets stood up by Vita Vaya. I thought Jurgens actually played pretty well overall against Vita Vaya in this game, considering like the size of disadvantage there. And then Calcuter also gets squeezed on this play.
Starting point is 01:00:06 So if you go to the next shot, you could see that the run lane kind of squeezes here on Sequin Barclay. He's got nowhere to go on an inside run right down the middle. Where are you picking that one? Probably, Bo, I would say this is an execution you're putting this on. I would say Juergens and Capitara there equally. Okay. You got one more? Last one.
Starting point is 01:00:27 This is the second and last play of the game. And honestly, the last play of the game was very similar. They come out in 13 personnel. Julie, if you go to the 2-0 here, this is the last one. 13 personnel, two tight ends on the line of scrimmage. You got a lot to in the back field. They're going to run counter again, where you're going to have Dickerson pulling from left to right
Starting point is 01:00:45 with Latu wrapping around. Clearly, they put this into the game plan here for this game. Julie, if you go to the next shot, you're going to get really nice double team at the point of attack between the tight end and with Fred Johnson. They get good movement. You have Dickerson pulling up to get the kickout block here. but the unfortunate part is you've got Latu who does a nice job here at the at the next level
Starting point is 01:01:07 and he played, Sequin plays off of that and he actually gets up to the safety like this one, this was the one actually, yeah, this is the play that we're like, yeah, he gets up to the set this is blocked well, but you had like,
Starting point is 01:01:18 this was like a nine man box at this point. And so instead of Seekwon making this guy miss and going for a, you know, a 30 yard gain or a 60 yard touchdown, it ends up going for six or seven yards. And this is, I mean, this is end of the game.
Starting point is 01:01:32 They know that this is, as you said, a nine-man box. This is an obvious run situation. It's tough to really get on them for not making that an explosive play. Yes. So, you know, it's, you know, I think overall, and I don't know if you were as we went. Yeah, what do you got his final numbers here? So let's see. I've got, uh, of the play of the 14 we looked at or 16?
Starting point is 01:01:52 16. I've got three good, three play calling. One on Sequin. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven on other execution. and one on bad luck. So a little bit of everything. And the execution. There was definitely some overlap.
Starting point is 01:02:07 There were definitely some overlap in somewhere. It's like, oh, that's part bad luck or, you know, part scheme and, you know, things like that. And the execution is spread out, as you said. Exactly. You know, Calcutera gets one and a half. Steen gets one and a half. But, yeah, it's not just one person. And so, I don't know, how correctable is that?
Starting point is 01:02:23 And more importantly, because we've got to talk about some other things from this game, you know, if you were to draw back. and reimagine how this offense should be built, how much would you change, you know, the way that they're approaching things right now. And what would you change? I really feel like that they need to put a little bit more for Jalen in this game. And they rely on him and the passing game a little bit more, you know,
Starting point is 01:02:50 and I don't know, Vinnie brought up yesterday in the post game show that, you know, maybe the organizationally there was a little bit of extra, a little extra one to going into this one. I think that's just then to me, like, that's another like a stick on the pile for jalen just like stepping up when his number is like needed right like when they when they have big games like jalen steps up consistently basically every single time uh i think when you're looking at his matchups against buffalo in kansas city and you know in the playoffs and you know against the indivision like uh to me like he's he's playing some of his best football we've
Starting point is 01:03:25 seen him play over like three four game stretches um to me this would this should become a more of a past first offense, but I also get, I also get like knowing like you're going to have to run the ball. Like they need to run the ball better than what they are running right now. I think that what they probably need to do is like, yeah, we need to like up the efficiency and explosiveness in that area, but like also like tone down the volume and, you know, in the, uh, in how often we're asking Sequin Barkley to kind of spear, you know, be the tip of the spear here. And instead, lean more into Jalen and AJ and Devante Smith. E.J. What do you think? Yeah, I, I, I, I, I see it a lot the same way that Fran does.
Starting point is 01:04:02 I think that this offense can and probably should revolve around getting the ball to AJ Brown and Devante Smith in space. You look at those guys route trees every week. And then you look at the route trees of some of the more featured wide receivers across the NFL. Like, I mean, I think I saw Pooka Nakua's route tree circulating on social media yesterday. And it's like, why can't A.J. Brown or Devante Smith, especially Devante Smith at the Pook and a cooler role. Like, why can't this be a function for the Eagles offense? And so we saw elements of it last season, especially early in the season, I think it might be time to revert back to that,
Starting point is 01:04:34 prioritizing getting those guys the ball in 11 personnel, no more heavy, no more condensed. I'm off that narcotic. You know, I feel like this is a, I think that this is a team that's built to be a power spread team. And if you told me that this team was built around that, I'm not worried about the run game. Because I think that the Eagles run game has enough talent to get by
Starting point is 01:04:57 against most opponents. You know, obviously this is a good buck's front. We knew going into the game was going to be tough sliding for them. But I think the thing is that like last year's version of the Eagles, you go, oh, this is going to be tough sliding for them against a really good run defense, but they're probably just going to run it anyway and they're going to do it well. They're not there right now. They can't lean on it the way that they have.
Starting point is 01:05:15 I mean, that fourth quarter just like stands in such contrast to what we saw from the Eagles the year before, even honestly, the last few years where it's, I mean, they jokingly call it like the 10 minute drill, right? you know, instead of the four-minute drill, they just kill out the fourth quarter. They just stay on the field. They are not there right now. And again, I don't think they can major in that with the way that things have been going in the run game. I totally agree with you guys.
Starting point is 01:05:40 And I had this conversation with Anthony on the show this morning. I would be surprised, having been around this team as long as I have, and knowing that, you know, one of Jalen's, probably Jilin's biggest fan in the organization is the owner, I would be surprised if this is not a conversation that's happening at some point soon between Jeffrey Lurie and Nick Siriani. Yeah. I mean, I think it's definitely possible. I just especially like with AJ, like, and we can talk about that, I guess, like with that dynamic, like, they're going to need to create.
Starting point is 01:06:13 And I, a lot of people I think are quick to like, oh, like, why is AJ doing this? AJ's got a right to be upset, in my opinion. Like, I get it. I get the frustration. You could see the frustration on the field as the game was going on, like his first target being that quick little. smoke screen where it's two versus one on the boundary. Devante can't be right with who he's going to block. And then AJ takes a shot as soon as he catches the ball.
Starting point is 01:06:34 Like that's his first target. I get it. I get the frustration. And then look, they tried to hit him down the field. And, you know, Jalen had a couple of bad balls yesterday. Uncharacteristic deep ball day from.
Starting point is 01:06:45 Yeah, it was weird. Yeah, a couple of those landed out of bounds. You usually don't see that. But I think that when you look at overall, like Jalen has been playing very, very well. And they need to lean into that. Yeah, the uncharacteristic throws from Jalen. I know Jamie on the postgame show, they were wondering about the hit that he took on his head.
Starting point is 01:07:04 I'm also a little bit curious about the shoulder that he dropped on that long scramble in the first time. Yeah, yeah, and you would imagine that like if at halftime, like sort of the adrenaline of that wore off, you could maybe talk yourself into that making an impact there. But yeah, I mean, listen, I am almost always on AJ's side. and I think he's right to be frustrated. I don't know if I'm going to get behind. Like, he should have put out that tweet after the game. I completely agree. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:32 To me, it's like, it doesn't really matter what your end goal is with the tweet. Like, it's not going to be effective. Unless the end goal is just like, you know what? I'm just kind of shake things up. It's like, I don't know. I've been talking to him every week and you could tell that this was coming. You know, his frustration was bubbling over. You can be content.
Starting point is 01:07:54 And, you know, that's it. And, you know, he said in the offseason after the Super Bowl, like he doesn't get the joy in the winning the ultimate game. He gets the joy in, like, dominating games, you know, being able to beat the guy across from him. So it must, I understand why it is frustrating if you play a position that is dependent on scheme and timing and the quarterback throwing you to football for you to be able to achieve the ultimate goal that you have, which is to dominate the guy across from. You, I understand the frustration. And again, it is something that you could sense has been. coming since week one. You know, every time he talks after games, he's measured.
Starting point is 01:08:30 He's been careful, but he's been clearly frustrated. He spent most of the last week saying that, you know, what he said about the wanting the offense to be aggressive, well, it's out there and he said it. But also, like, he kind of was arguing and got spun out of context. But then he kind of doubled down on it by saying, like, we're takers and we should take what we want. So, yeah, I understand the frustration from his perspective. I don't know if it was, like, the best way to go about it.
Starting point is 01:08:53 I'm kind of with you, Bo, but I do think he's, I know, well, no, I know from talking to him, he is well aware of what that does to the locker room. He's well aware of like what his words and actions do inside the locker room, the waves that he can create. And I, because of that, I am sure him posting this was intentional. You know, it was with the goal of making those waves in the locker room. I don't know exactly who it was directed at. But no, I think that he, he did this last year, too, you know, where he wanted to make waves late in the season after that Panthers game. You know, he picks his spots with these.
Starting point is 01:09:32 And I think that, you know, as we talk about the possibility for this offense, having an overhaul, I think that AJ is pushing for that. Very interesting stuff. Some quick hits on yesterday, Fran. Let's talk Jalen because, you know, we talked so much about the Blitz last week. And in the first half, they were unbelievable against them. Blitz, nine for 10 on success rate, like going exactly where the ball should go, coming out quick. Danes posted a graph, I believe that the Eagles were the most six, even over the course of the game,
Starting point is 01:10:05 including the second half, the best performance against the Blitz by a team that faced the Blitz as often as they did in this game of any team this season. But what did you see second half? Like, would you be concerned about the fall off there? Or, you know, do you put that more on sort of play call? Yeah, I think it was just one of those things where like, all right, you know one the thing you remember about like those blitz numbers too is that the in the second half they blitzed at a lower volume but it was more like they did a handful of those like exchange blitzes that don't go down as blitzes but they actually like they're blitzed in the slot corner and dropping a defensive end a couple of those were like batted balls by that player that was coming off the edge so you had a couple of tip passes we talked about the deep balls to a j you had three straight incompletions to a j like underneath that they're like you know i don't know if you want to like talk like through like force throws and things like that but like Jalen definitely was not sharp in the second half of this game from an accuracy and ball placement standpoint. You know, I think that it was just, it was a weird game from that from like that end of it. And, you know, if we get into the reasoning of like injury and stuff like that, like, I don't know what the answer is there.
Starting point is 01:11:10 But I think overall like, yeah, first half, like the plan of attack, outstanding. Like the game plan was great. The execution was great. They did, they pushed all the right buttons in the first, you know, half and change. if this was a few years ago we might be talking about needing a skango to better marry the run in the past because you do imagine you know this team is so run heavy and yet they're 27th in the league in play action rate when they do drop back and part of that is because even when they do go play action they're not very good at it you know they're one of the few teams who is negative EPA per play when they do run play action so like i don't i don't really understand why a team that is so run heavy and the defense is selling out to stop the run. I don't really understand why they wouldn't be better at play action and why they wouldn't run it more. But that's probably a question beyond my pay grade.
Starting point is 01:12:04 Yeah, especially when you factor in like, you know, that they're doing a little bit more of the under center and they're doing a little bit more of the pistol. Like they're changing the formations around a little bit, you know, being able to add like an extended layer of variety there with some of the play action looks. I think that would be, that's a good dial to turn up. Something that Jordan Milada mentioned after the game too, that he feels like they need more play action. Oh. To advantage of that. Well, here's one other Sequin stat I have for you. His longest run of the season, 16 yards.
Starting point is 01:12:33 It's only been four games. But in his 16 regular season games last year, he had 22 runs longer than 16 yards. All right. Let's get to the soupy-supies. We got some soupy chats that have come in. Hoflax 24. It says, I think AJ Brown is afraid of wasted talent. His team at Ole Miss had him, D.K. Metcalf and Dawson Knox, and Phil Longo at OC held them back immensely coming from a jaded Ole Miss alum.
Starting point is 01:13:05 Who was that quarterback again? It was Kelly. Chad Kelly? Chad Kelly? Oh, I thought it was the other guy. Anyway, John Gannon has a pair of Super Chats. First, he says, last two games, the Eagles are 57% of real drives, 12 of 21, that were three and out or a turnover. Only four of the 11 non-turnover drives were third and seven plus.
Starting point is 01:13:38 They average 4.4 yards on the first two plays of every drive. One drive gained 38, other 20 had 55 combined. Good stat. Another one says in previous four Tampa Bay games, the Eagles had 27.5% scoring drives removing end of half. On non-scoring drive, 11 turnovers. Tampa's average starting field position was the minus 29.6. This game, 36.4% on the seven punts, Tampa averaged at the minus 31.9. Matt Corral was the quarterback.
Starting point is 01:14:14 Deep into his bag. Matt Corral. Yeah. Hmm. And then there was another guy before. him too, who was also bad. Anyway. Jordan Tamu.
Starting point is 01:14:26 That's who I was. That's who I was thinking of. Okay. All right. You want to talk a little bit of defense before we get going? E.J., I don't know if you want to hop to Nick. Yeah. Yeah, let me make sure I got Nick covered here.
Starting point is 01:14:38 All right, guys. All right, EJ. I mean, an impressive defensive performance, especially all that was asked of them in the second half by the offense going three and out. First, first blush, what did you think of Keely Ringo? I thought he was solid. You know, look, a couple of the tackle attempts, you know, he's got to do a better job, but it wasn't like every single one of them was bad.
Starting point is 01:15:01 He had a couple of nice reps one-on-one in that way as well. You know, the standout coverage rep would probably be that fourth downplay, where he did a nice job of just kind of like staying on top of the receiver in the quick game and, you know, was able to impact the catch point. But I thought it was a solid, solid doubting from Keeley overall. A couple of mistackles, but I think that I think that's okay. I would like to see, even if Adory Jackson is healthy, I'd like to see Keely get another game and see how he does.
Starting point is 01:15:27 Yeah, I think that to me, I'd like to see a Keely too. And that's why going into the summer, I felt like excited to see Keely, even knowing like he would probably be volatile. Like I wasn't expecting him to be a Pro Bowl quality corner in 2025. But to me, I think you accept the volatility if you think like he's going to continue to grow and improve. you broke down the long touchdown pass on the postgame show which everybody can check out either on the post game show or on the VOD there on the PHOY YouTube channel I'm curious how you feel about the state of the edge rusher position the eagles are the only team of the NFL fran that doesn't have a sack by one of their edge rushers Zadarius Smith has a half sack that's the most they have and I am interested by you know vix blitz usage he's obviously having to blitz more because they're not not getting home on four-man rushes.
Starting point is 01:16:20 Two of, they've only got five sacks on a season, and only two of them have come on a four-man rush. You compare that to last season when 33 of the 41 came on no blitz. And so how much of a concern do you find that to be moving forward? If I were going to go like one to ten, like a seven, a six, you know, I think it's a little alarming in certain games and situations. Like that to me, like when you're talking about not having a blue chip edge. rusher on the whole you know i expect like okay like vicks can be able to count for that and i think
Starting point is 01:16:52 we've seen that he's been he's even account for that it's more like in a high leverage moment it's you know third and eight late fourth quarter and you need to get baker mayfield to the ground and he scrambles for nine yards like that's where it's like oh like it would be nice to have that guy right and i think that that's where you kind of miss it and you just hope that you're able to in that moment like can one of those guys step up or is someone in the secondary able to overcome it or is Jalen Carter able to take over that play? Like you're hoping that somebody else is able to step up and make a play in that moment.
Starting point is 01:17:21 And there is also reason that you could use that guy in run defense too because there are some times when, you know, a Josh Ushay, for instance, is letting the edge go kind of unset. Yeah, I haven't looked at the numbers from yesterday, but like they ran some more stunts and twists. We talked about that last week. It's like I like to see a little bit more of that. We broke down the Ojimo sack in the fourth quarter late in the game and how that
Starting point is 01:17:48 set them up for success in that final drive. But they did it a number of times in the afternoon. So I'm hoping that that could be something that we start to see a little bit more from this group is they're just trying to manufacture us best they can. All right. Any other leftovers that you'd like to get to? Quinnian was awesome. Cooper DeGine was awesome.
Starting point is 01:18:07 Yeah. I thought Jehad Campbell had maybe his best day from like a box play standpoint. There were a couple of really good reps of him playing downhill in traffic. It wasn't even like, oh, man, like he was amazing. But it was like, all right, like steps in the right direction, some of that linear development there. I was expecting this coming in. Like, like Jordan Davis was fine. I got to say there was that one play, that fourth downplay that Keely.
Starting point is 01:18:32 Jordan Davis chasing Mayfield to the boundary was big on that play, forcing Mayfield the throw where I think Mayfield maybe have been looking to run on that one. But overall, like it wasn't like a huge Jordan Davis game. but I expected that given what we expected with the heat. And also they were they were mostly running to the outside. Yes. And I think that was purposeful, you know, given what we've seen from Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter. Carter clearly we talked about, you know, playing through, you know, an injury.
Starting point is 01:18:59 I don't know if he reagravated yesterday or that's just kind of what he's dealing with. But, you know, Carter continuing to deal with whatever that injury is. They blitz spawn more from depth. There was a next gen stat actually that I had on that. Give me one second. I'll pull it up. I was talking with what Dane is about this last night. Let's see.
Starting point is 01:19:18 I thought this felt like a nice, you know, change of pace from breaking tendency from Vic because it had always been, it had mostly been jihad coming in the first three games. Yes. So Bonn recorded five pressures in a sack in the day, six defensive stops and allowed just one reception for one yard in coverage. That's a crazy game from Zach Bond. Four of his five pressures came in under two and a half seconds. he now leads all linebackers with seven quick pressures on the year, which is interesting, you know, given the fact, again, the lack of blitz from a year ago and just that change.
Starting point is 01:19:50 It would be the best friend of the team. Yeah, it might be. But it's it. I was, I was thinking that, like, you know, I think if you pull, if you did a straw poll of Eagles fans a month ago, they would say like, oh, it's Jane LaCarter, best player on the defense. We've talked about the possibility that Zach Vaughn is that guy. We talked in the summer about the possibility that Quinnian Mitchell is that guy. And so, you know, having a lot of different players that are able to kind of hold that mantle in any given week. I think it's definitely big for that unit overall, especially given the youth of some of those players.
Starting point is 01:20:17 Yes. We talked about like Baker Mayfield going into this game. And it was like, all right, like to me, in my opinion, the best version of Baker Mayfield is the like point and shoot, like catch and throw like in and carve you up. And that's what he was a year ago. And if you want to like roll the dice, get him to play outside of structure.
Starting point is 01:20:37 And it kind of worked in both ways yesterday, where he was terrible outside of the show. They did an outstanding job of really just tightening up the coverage. He completed three of six passes when holding onto the ball for at least four seconds. Two of those big touchdowns, and he had the pick,
Starting point is 01:20:54 where him holding onto the ball. And so you got a little bit of both there where it's like, all right, like, if the rookies don't bust those coverages, you know, I think that the defense had an outstanding day. We're having a different conversation about this game overall. But when it came to, like,
Starting point is 01:21:09 in structure. He averaged 3.3.8 yards per attempt, a career low, 27.3 success rate when he got rid of the ball within four seconds. So the coverage was extremely tight, really, really good examples. It's like on third down, especially, like some of the passoffs in zone coverage, obviously he had one-on-one reps between Dijin and with Quinyon and like all those guys doing their jobs, but there was a, there were a lot of standout reps from this defense overall in this game. That's good. Those are good nugs. good nuggy nudge. And listen to the
Starting point is 01:21:41 those those those those those uh those touchdowns are also plays where you know if you had a slightly fiercer pass rush yeah he doesn't have time to you know jihad Campbell doesn't have time to lose bucky Irving down the field. Yeah that was one where like the mayfield started like rolling to his right and Campbell's peeking in the backfield he's on the opposite side of the field and you know that's just tough he basically he just got caught you know he just got caught peeking too long in the backfield and bucky was able to release up the field it was not
Starting point is 01:22:08 that obviously Campbell came up with that interception late where that was a scramble situation and he was able to stay active and it was a different part of the field and all that but a nice retribution there for the rookie to come back and make that play and a great job by reid blank and jip getting his hand shout out to nate burge for the super chat and to jeff pezzie for joining the supporters club we love that all right fran well thank you so much for going through that exercise and uh spending your morning grinding that fill the Franny France. We will talk to you on Thursday. I know that you're a little bit salty about a couple of things that we'll have to talk about on Thursday, but... But it's not salty. Like, to me, I wasn't wrong by anything, at least that you guys did in this one. You do have...
Starting point is 01:22:54 Actually, you do have something you want to talk about that you're salty about. Oh, yes. Thank you. Okay. So I thought about the... Honestly, like, I forget exactly when in the game it was. but if I thought about it in post game, I was kicking myself that I didn't bring this up
Starting point is 01:23:10 in the post game show yesterday. But Brady talking about Quinnian Mitchell, Tom Brady talking about Quinnion Mitchell, and he's like, oh, like, he's just a little too handsy for my liking. Like you want to be more like Dorel Revis, who wasn't really that handsy.
Starting point is 01:23:21 Oh, thank you, Tom. You want to compare a second year corner to like the best cover, a man cover corner of a generation. Really, that's like the, to me, like there was. Like one of the best players I've ever seen. Yeah, it was a perfect encapsulation of why great.
Starting point is 01:23:35 great players very often are terrible analysts and terrible coaches because they just want to point to the fact that like, oh, like, why can't you be like me or like, why can't you be like this great player? Like, I don't know, because they're the 99.9th percentile athlete and you're not going to be able to, uh, to replicate that. Uh, so maybe, you know, appreciate the fact that Quinnian balled out yesterday, uh, again, after what he did last week against Devante Adams. Yeah, it's a good point. Uh, outrageous. Uh, and then there's also another super chat we have from Nate who says concerned with the number of defensive penalties. And to me, I'm less concerned about the penalties and more concerned about the general possibility that, you know, the Eagles are becoming a target team for the league office. That's how I feel. And I mean, there's that, look, you're getting a reputation. And so there's going to be a bigger target on you when you are perceived that way. So even if it's not like directly coming from like, you know, Troy Vinson and, you know, and Roger Goodell in that way. I think the fact that you're, you know, because officials watch tape of teams, like officials
Starting point is 01:24:41 are watching at the end of whoever their assignment is that week. You know, you see that and you say like, okay, that's at the front of mind as you're getting ready for that game. I would, the one that I would be most angry about if I was Siriani was the flag that was picked up on the hit on Jalen when he was sliding. Yeah. Because it doesn't, even if he didn't actually hit him in the head, he's still sliding. That's like that was a, and that was a violent hit.
Starting point is 01:25:03 That should have, that should not have been picked up. I agree with that. I am, I get, I'm getting really annoyed with the taunting stuff as well. Mainly because it is so inconsistently officiated. Like, to me, okay. It's difficult to officiate. They should take it out of the game. To me, like, you look at a Mecca, Buka, like turning and slow and slowly walking in the end zone.
Starting point is 01:25:29 How is that different than what Cooper DeGine did? But why? Because he's 40 yards away, because he's 20 yards away from the guy. I posted a clip last week, and I am fascinated to see if the league does anything with this one. But I posted a clip after the Thursday night game where my guy, Elijah Arroyo had a beautiful catch down the right sideline, Seattle against Arizona, over Josh Sweat. And I don't know what sweat did to the Seattle sideline. That's at any point in that game. But seven guys come running over and are showing up sweat down the field.
Starting point is 01:25:57 You can get into why Jonathan Gannon has Josh Sweat dropping in coverage with a tight end. But the one coach is doing like your too small celebration in John. Josh Sweat's face on the sideline. It's like, yeah, is this guy getting fine the same way? Like, if that was a player doing that, like, that's a flag and a fine, is that coach getting that same treatment? He better be. Like, it's, yeah, you're going to, you're going to get me frustrated with this one.
Starting point is 01:26:21 And it goes both ways. Like, the one on the Kua last week was ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. I'm totally with you. It's so stupid. Like, let them play. Let them play. Exactly.
Starting point is 01:26:33 You saw, like, there was the one play. It might have been the fourth down in completion. No, actually, it might have been a different play where Keeley, like, made a stop along the sideline. And you could tell, like, he had to, like, so for a second and, like, had to stop himself. And it's just like, I hate that these guys, like, work, like, all year, like, worked their entire lives to play this game they love. And they, like, can't, like, even, like, celebrate that they want to be putting their bodies on the line. It is, I mean, you know, this is the deal they make, of course. But, I mean, I mean, let them celebrate.
Starting point is 01:27:00 It's so ridiculous. You want to take away, like, a throat slash. Fine. But, I mean, come on. No question. Flex. Let them flex. We can't have the Brian roll Thursday night football at MedLife. That should be the only celebration alive.
Starting point is 01:27:16 I think you can let guys flex on each other. That's okay. Yeah, absolutely. All right. Well, you just spent 87 minutes flexing on everybody else, Fran. We appreciate all of the work that went into this. Great stuff. We'll see you on Thursday. And E.J. and I will be back tomorrow at 2 o'clock with the next greatest. edition of the PHM White Eagles podcast. Thank you to Julia for making it all happen behind the scenes. We will talk to you tomorrow. And as always, we love you.
