Starting point is 00:00:09 Hello, everybody. Welcome into the P.H.L.Y. Eagles podcast presented by our friends over at TrueMark Financial Credit Union. If you are unaware of the benefits of a credit union, it's always great to have them in their corner. And what better one than one base right here in the Delaware Valley. We are not Zach Berman, Fran Duffy, or Bo Wolf. We are Jamie Lynch and Bill Matt's in with you on this Monday after NFL draft weekend. Bill, how we doing? I am quite well this morning, Jamie, this afternoon, whatever it is. I'm all thrown off. Flyer Show moved to noon today. Now I'm home for the Eagles. We're just covering all of our bases today, but really excited to talk some birds after a year of talking about a pretty bad team. I'm going to talk about one that's pretty damn good.
Starting point is 00:00:59 You know, Super Bowl champs. Yeah. I don't know how you feel, but most of the Eagles fans I talk to are kind of in the same mindset, Bill, that I found myself in. which is, hey, the Eagles are picking 32nd. They won the Super Bowl. I don't give a damn what happens. Yeah, and it's when the draft is your main event and it's going to be for every team that
Starting point is 00:01:22 doesn't win, it's you get really dug in on this stuff. And I know there are still, you know, Fran Duffy, amazing job. If you watch the weekend coverage and who didn't saw the numbers, they were outstanding. But, yeah, they're the draft experts. They're going to dive into it. But for the average fan out there, it's like, What am I going to doubt Howie? He just rebuilt a defense in a year.
Starting point is 00:01:43 They dominated the best quarterback in the league. So, yeah, keep at it. Go to work. I'm down. And that's how I felt, you know, reading all the analysis and catching up on the draft. Yeah, I was at a party Friday night and somebody was like, who'd they take? And I was like, Andrew McCuba. And they were like, cool.
Starting point is 00:02:01 Yep. And that was pretty much it. Yeah. Watching a bunch of playoff hockey and stuff, like having some friends over. We're checking in on the draft. doing different things. And it's like, okay, yeah, safety. All right, linebacker. That's it. Like, you know, and cool. Yeah, I agree. Way to go, Howie. After losing what they lost on defense and watching what they were able to do with a pretty damn young defense this past year.
Starting point is 00:02:28 It's, yeah, thumbs up. Looking forward to, looking forward to saying how great we have it here in Philly. Yeah, it's really not bad. And we will go over the kind of scouting reports Fran had on each of these draft profiles, which is to give you the 30,000 foot view here. A big shout out to Fran, Zach, and Bo this weekend. And of course, Julia, Brenna, Andrew, Brianna, Chris, everybody behind the scenes that made that broadcast really kind of show off what all city products can be because it was spectacular. There's nothing like it locally. And I think word is starting to get out amongst people. I saw you in the chat a lot. this weekend threatening tequila shots and volcanoes i myself was in there kyle was in there so it was a
Starting point is 00:03:14 really fun kind of great weekend here for the p hl y brand i couldn't be more proud of everything yeah shout out to uh shout out to our social guy chris who uh represented the brand well shotguned a paps light uh and did it quite efficiently was definitely impressed with uh with chris but everyone just awesome job in the draft coverage um can't can't say enough about what everyone did in front and behind the cameras. Yeah, shotguning a tall boy, Bill, is no easy task. That extra four ounces you really notice when you're taking that one down. Absolutely. It gets to you quick. I was very proud of, I was very proud of Chris. That's how, you know, Zach won't do it. It's like, what are all these people getting to
Starting point is 00:03:58 needy to be professionals for? I know. I can not imagine this. Like, I'm going to wear a suit and not chug a beer on camera. But we need a little bit of both here at people. we need the personalities and the wildly unprofessional people like me. And then we need Berman. We need Charlie O'Connor. We need people like that. Keep the shows on the rails, I'd say. Yeah, they balance out our idiocy, Bill. We'll gladly take that honor and run with it. But a little bit of what's ahead today. The Eagles are, or some of the Eagles are in Washington, D.C. Zach Berman is, I think, arriving in Union Station at this very second. So he's going to check in with us a little bit later this hour from the White House.
Starting point is 00:04:43 I was like, Zach, you got to get the White House in the background, do a little Zoom link for us and just check in just to see it. Because it's just another reminder, Bill, politics aside. The Eagles won the Super Bowl. Yeah, it's, that's, if you're Zach, like, yeah, man, you need, you need to stay in the White House. Like, you need that background there. That's just one of those must-haves.
Starting point is 00:05:07 And yeah, this is one of the benefits, perks. One of the things you get when you win the Super Bowl is the White House visit. I know there is, I have so little desire to talk about anyone who feels either way on either side of the issue. No, we won't be doing that today. Yeah, it's just one of those things that happens. You get an invite to the White House when you win the Super Bowl. and today is that day for the Eagles. Very interested to see the reports coming out and what goes down.
Starting point is 00:05:38 I always thought one of the low-key benefits of being president would be the awesome collection of jerseys you get when you come out. Is there a man cave at the White House? Like, did some pro president back in the day, like JFK just start like a sweet, like bootleg basement bar? And it's just got like all these awesome jerseys and sign pictures of all the athletes that have been through there. there because I hope so. I always thought it was sick. Like, you know, like the Blackhawks had
Starting point is 00:06:05 their run a lot during Obama and like the Cubs won in that time. And it was like, oh, you know, Chicago guy, that's got to be cool. Like it's your team wins. You know, like that's, that's got to be like a little bit of extra fun there. But that's I always like, oh, man, that collection of jerseys when you're done in four or eight years, I bet it's pretty sick. Yeah, yeah, absolutely. We do have some nonsense to get to as the internet. was tackling some tough, tough questions this weekend. We'll get to that. We are going to play for you a little snippet of Nebraska head coach Matt Ruhl, who joined Anthony this morning talking about the newest Eagle and Cam Juergens buddy there, Ty. So we will get the scouting report on Ty Robinson, the new
Starting point is 00:06:50 defensive tackle from that rule, a man who knows them very, very well. We'll read for you some of Fran Duffy's analysis on these draft picks. But overall, aside from the, is good. It doesn't matter who do they pick. The one note I did have from this weekend was I was surprised at the lack of offense. There was such a youth movement on the defensive side of the ball last year. I was surprised to not see it revert back offensively a little bit. They only took basically the two offensive linemen late in the draft who are, you know, far from sure things to make the roster. But were you surprised at the lack of offensive addressing this weekend? You know, I was a little bit just considering how much they've invested in the defense the last couple of years.
Starting point is 00:07:34 But then you look at the losses that they had on defense. And it's well, someone has to play. Like we need depth. We obviously needed a safety. You need the defensive tackle rotation. And the offense is just so set. And when I saw the, it was in one of the articles up on pHLY on all pHLY.com, like how he's mandate going in was we can always find.
Starting point is 00:07:58 veteran backups, you know, later into camp, later in the offseason. We can always buy our way out of those bottom of the depth chart, depth issues. Find people with the, find players with starting potential. Take some swings on guys who, yeah, maybe they don't have, like, maybe they're not going to make the team or they're going to go to a Pro Bowl one day. Those sorts of guys. And when you just look at the potential openings, none of them are on offense. Like what would it take to be a top two receiver in this offense outside of a tragedy?
Starting point is 00:08:34 What would it take to be a starting offensive lineman on this team outside of a major injury? Nothing. Those players aren't available. We have five pro bowlers. Like what can you possibly do moving forward? So I just think the value in terms of taking those swings probably on the defense. And you do have all of our skill positions set. the offensive line. Yeah, we could use a little depth there, but we have Stoutland.
Starting point is 00:09:01 Why would we use a top 60 pick on a guy when we can just find a Jordan Milata in the seventh ground? You know, like I kind of understand the philosophy there. Yeah, I think Polar Jam just said, you know, basically the offense, more or less what you did, that the offense has spoken for, right? The one part of that that did surprise me was kind of not addressing the tight end. And I guess this is kind of the segue into the Dallas Goddard conversation. I did think they were going to take a draft, an early draft picked on that tight end, the replacement plan, even if they are able to work something out here where Goddard does stay. I thought it was going to be that get a guy in the system for two years and then maybe year three, he can take the starting job and run. So I was a little surprised that they didn't address tight end.
Starting point is 00:09:46 But outside of that, you're right. Like, you can't really crack this case offensively. Yeah, and we've seen that philosophy. We saw it with Ertz coming in under Selik, and then we saw it with Goddard coming in while Ertz was still here. And it is a little bit surprising, but again, how many weapons, it's not as if Dallas Goddard has been overly utilized. I know he did have a big playoff run for them. I wonder about the role of the tight end in this offense with Jalen Hertz as the quarterback and his utilization of the middle of the field and just how many balls there are to spread around when we're going to run. run as much as we do and we're going to throw to the top two guys because they're one of the
Starting point is 00:10:27 best duos in football like yes it probably was on the board all right we need to address tight end and then as you just keep going okay just nothing of value there we'd rather address other areas and there is no law that says we have to move on from Dallas Goddard this season it's yeah it seems like they want to but if you hold them another year and see how it goes I don't think I don't think that's like, oh, well, we failed there. Yeah, he's still a good player. Yeah, and Howie Roseman's comments, I thought, said a lot. You know, he said, well, Dallas is a part of the team for now.
Starting point is 00:11:04 Like those two words there hung pretty heavy in the air after he said them. Now, Zach Berman has said, you know, multiple, multiple times. Basically, it's about the cash. It's not about the cap. It's about the cash. And he doesn't see a scenario where they pay him. him, you know, the $14.1 million he's owed this year. Dallas Goddert is looking at a scenario where he's a lame duck contract guy at an age where it's probably his last opportunity to get a big deal.
Starting point is 00:11:34 I still wish there was some scenario where they could work out, you know, that two or three year deal, maybe where they lessen the cap number and make it, you know, amicable for both sides. but I think that for now that how he said kind of speaks volumes that maybe June 1st because I think they can save an extra $4.3 million if it's a post-June 1st designation. Maybe that for now told you, told you everything you need to know. Yeah, that's it is telling when the GM of the team whose job it is to come out and like, you know, give you poker face is like, yeah, I mean, I don't think I have to, you all know the situation.
Starting point is 00:12:16 You know, I know. I actually want to keep. We've, everyone knows what the situation is. But I, I would be nice if they were able to work out like we've seen so many times, they restructure keep them around. But a player of his age at his position and the availability of the last few years, it's how interested are they in three more years. And I realize it would be a Howie contract.
Starting point is 00:12:43 So it ain't three years. But, you know, it's. still a certain amount of cash designated to that player over that period of time. And we don't know if he's going to play 12 games next year because that's been a struggle for him. It does appear as if all roads, even though they weren't able to get a tight end at the draft, weren't able to move him still probably going that direction. Yeah, and the name that keeps surfacing up, because if you're going to address it via trade, obviously there's not a ton out there free agency.
Starting point is 00:13:15 but if you were to address it via trade, maybe the Raiders and Michael Mayer, the backup tight end out there could be wiggled loose from them as Brock Bowers is pretty good at football. So maybe he's a guy you keep an eye on here. We'll see. But I'll tell you this, Bill, I'm not like that gung-ho about starting the season with Grant Calcutera as our starting tight end. You know, it doesn't, it definitely doesn't excite me. I thought he made some decent plays down the stretch while Goddard was out in that kind of moving into that role, but there's so many other responsibilities other than, you know, catching a 12-yard pass in this offense that Goddard really, I think may have been underrated
Starting point is 00:13:56 in that it's, you know, can Calcutera, is he really that sort of tight end? I'm not positive. You would think there would be another addition of some kind if they are to move on from Goddard, even if they see him as a primary pass catcher. Yeah, Calcutera has a tough time blocking a wet paper bag. So I wouldn't mind to see Sequin's life made a little bit better with a better blocker in there. But in Howie, we trust, you know, I have nothing to say. I can't complain at all. It's a great place to be. I can't sit here wearing this shirt as I try to get it more extreme.
Starting point is 00:14:32 I can't sit here in our P.HLY World F& Champ shirt and be like, you know, Howie, not so sure about this one. Like, who am I? I know that's not sports. That's not the sports talk world. You and I were brought up in Jamie, but we also... Got to have a take, Bill. Yeah, we also weren't brought up in an era where they've won two Super Bowls and been
Starting point is 00:14:57 just three in the past 10 years, you know? That's never been a thing that's ever happened. Yeah. I mean, I got to a point in life where I was fully convinced I was never going to see one. So when the first one happened, it was like, I'm good for life. I should never complain again, even though that's not true. A second one, are you kidding? me? I mean, this is unreal. I kind of always thought that was going to be our penance for being
Starting point is 00:15:19 who we are as fans. Like, oh, yeah, Sixers will win one. Even the Phillies will win one. Maybe the Flyers will get another. You're never going to get that thing that every summer we talk about what would you give up to get. Yeah, you're never going to have it. You know, like you did a couple of those shows in my life, as I'm sure you did too. Absolutely. Now it's off the table forever. This next generation of kids on the air is never going to know that game. But like I just kind of always thought we would never get it. And now here we are celebrating yet another one. Spoiled rotten.
Starting point is 00:15:53 And yes, talk about being spoiled rotten. If you're not a diehard yet, I saw Julia flash that QR code up here a little bit ago. The sale ends tonight, tonight, tonight. It's our lowest offer ever, $36. And the stable of writers we have here is worth. it alone. You can get that beautiful shirt that Bill Matt's is wearing as part of the deal. You get an invite to our Discord channel. You get so much stuff. And here's the beauty bill of why you should get it before the sale ends. The price is great. Less than $3 a month. I mean, that's like less than a nice
Starting point is 00:16:26 coffee. But if you get it today before the sale ends, you'll be up for next year's draft season. And Fran Duffy has already started the process of working on the draft guide. So it's live for next year. Dorn College football. So you can be the absolute sickest of the sick and you can track Fran Duffy's draft guide all college football season and get ready for the next year's draft. And you get it all for this year's price. Thank God for people like Fran Duffy. Just keeping the rest of us idiots informed about any of the I can not like that just that's the difference. If I was Fran, I wouldn't watch football again until someone like said you're going to lose your job. And if you don't watch a freak and if you don't watch some film.
Starting point is 00:17:11 But here he is already working on next years. It's incredible. And like you said, the stable of writers we have for every sport. Good luck matching it anywhere. Yeah. And the Flyers are about to boom. I feel like in the near future and you and you'll have full access to Charlie. Two to three years, maybe.
Starting point is 00:17:28 Just two to three years. Any day now. We'll see what happens. Kelly and I were talking about that on Friday. Like I actually believe that. And I know what it sounds like when you say it. Like I trust me, I know what it sounds like, oh yeah, they're like, yeah, like two, maybe three. Like I know, I know, I know.
Starting point is 00:17:49 But I believe it this time. It's maybe true. Who knows. Yeah, yeah, who knows. All right, let's take a quick break here and tell you about some of our friends. And then on the other side, I want to hit because you just said the Fran Duffies of the world, put in all the work. We'll read you some of his pluses and minuses. for this draft class.
Starting point is 00:18:09 And then we'll play for you. Coach Matt Ruhl, head coach of Nebraska, was talking about the newest Eagles defensive tackle. So I want to play that for you as well after a word from our friends. And that's our friends over at Ashley Furniture.
Starting point is 00:18:28 Low prices are blooming. It's not just spring that's blooming outside. So spring into savings that Ashley save up to 50% of living rooms, bedrooms and dining rooms and have it all delivered free. Yes, free. Starting point is 00:19:32 All right. And whatever the moment, it's never ordinary a bet 365. I've got to tell you about our sports book partner here at P.HLY. You know, I've been using Bet365 Sportsbook for a couple of years now, and it's one of my favorites for so many reasons. They're one of the pioneers of live in-game betting. They have over 90 million users worldwide. They live stream almost 800,000 events each year. And you can bet on over 78 different sports.
Starting point is 00:19:57 Can I name 78 sports? I can't, but I can bet on them at Bet365. But the thing I love most, it's the early payouts across the NBA and NHL. You know, maybe you've been taking. the Kings on the money line a little bit in the Stanley Cup playoffs. And then you see those leads wither away. Well, when your team opens up a three-goal lead, you take your early payout. You get paid right away. And then maybe if you're seeing Edmonton come back, you go the other way. You get paid twice on the same game. But whatever sport you're betting on, you need to use
Starting point is 00:20:33 Bet365. And we have breaking news from our friends at Bet365. New customers now get $150 in both. bonus bets when you bet just $5 win or lose. All you got to do is sign up. Use the code P.HLY. 365, deposit 10 bucks, and place a bet for five to get $150 in bonus bets, whether your bet wins or loses. Bonus bets can be used on the spread, totals, player props, futures, and more. Whatever the moment, it's never ordinary. A bet 365 must be 21 or older and physically located in a PA.
Starting point is 00:21:03 If you were somebody to know as a gambling problem wants help, call 1,800 gambler. And this is the P-H-L-Y Eagles podcast presented by our friends at TrueMark Financial Credit Union. There's that offer. The sale ends tonight. If you know somebody that would love it, hop in there and get it before it's too late. And don't say we didn't warn you. It's over tonight. $36. Hop on it, people. I don't want to get any DMs. Don't want to get any DMs about how you missed the sale. We've been pushing this long enough. Yes. And Bill, let's do a little flyers trick of the trade here. And let's get those thumbs up. up. Maybe I can't see what we're at right now because I don't have it up. But let's try to, you can't see it on stream yard. But hit the like button. It's definitely not enough. Whatever the
Starting point is 00:21:47 number is, double it. All right. Let's get these. These are rookie numbers. Let's get these up. We're about to talk about the 999 challenge and 100 men versus a gorilla. Come on. Let's get a little thumbs up here, people. Obviously the things people came here for today. Screw the White House. We're talking about 100 men versus a gorilla. We will get to that soon. enough. But to touch on the draft picks this weekend, let's just start at the top bill. Jihad Campbell, local kid from Timber Creek right across the bridge. This seemed like the one all weekend that people were excited about. One, because he comes from a big time badass program. Two, because he's a little bit of a heat seeking missile that can potentially play linebacker
Starting point is 00:22:31 or edge rusher kind of in that Micah Parsons kind of build slash model a little bit. not saying he is Micah Parsons, but that one had to get a little lead in your pencil this weekend, I would think. Oh, 100% when you see the comparisons to Micah Parsons, like, yeah, he's an offball linebacker, but how are they going to use him? Maybe in that what they thought Zach Vaughn was going to be more of an edge that they can line up and the versatility. And it's all about the athleticism and upside for me with this guy. When you see he can play multiple positions, you look at how Vic Fangio, utilize different guys this year, how they could use depth at a couple different levels.
Starting point is 00:23:13 I, how do you not like this pick when, you know, obviously how he's going to tell you, oh, he was top 10 on our board. You know, it seems as if, man, you guys get steals every single year, dudes you thought were top 10 pick. And hey, it's hard to argue with the success. Maybe he's, maybe he's being truthful, but it does seem like this is a high upside pick here. Yeah, the reason I believe him about this one is because they were willing to trade up to 22. And like internally, they had to be doing cartwheels that they were able to get him at 31 because the value they saved on going 22 to 31 was probably remarkable stuff. So I think I do believe him that he was pretty high on their board on this one.
Starting point is 00:23:53 Most times it's GM talk. But this time they tried to get up to 22 to get him. So it seems like a steal. A couple of notes from Fran's profile on him. Tall with a thick frame, well-built kid. Always love to hear a good frame. dirty like a shed. Consistently productive.
Starting point is 00:24:13 Most of his time was spent in the box, but he would move down to the line of scrimmage on over 10% of the snaps and would walk out at times. Versatility still unknown. Some consider him a potential full-time edge rusher in the NFL. He did stay behind to do a full battery
Starting point is 00:24:33 of defensive line tests at the combine after the linebacker stuff was over. so I don't know if Vic Fangio eventually. I think year one, he's probably going to be the linebacker because NCOB Dean isn't going to be ready till probably the back half of the season. But I think this is something over time, Bill. We might see him transition to that D.N. Yeah, it's put a young guy in a position to just get comfortable in the NFL,
Starting point is 00:24:58 almost changed hats there. In the NFL, like, master one thing. Let's teach you one thing and be great at it. and then add as necessary in terms of the versatility and role. There are other guys you can play at edge for now. They have a lot of production to replace in terms of pass rusher. But like you mentioned, Jacoby Dean, probably not going to be here to start the season. Well, there's a starter right there.
Starting point is 00:25:26 That's a guy that you're counting on being in there. So train him in the one thing and then add as necessary. Yeah, I'll be a little bummed if he can't, if he doesn't win out the starting linebacker job. opposite of Zach Bonn. Orrin Burks, obviously, he's gone. So I said gone, weird there. Gone. You got Jeremiah Trotter Jr., but I think he's ideally a depth piece. Played good in some opportunities last year. But if Campbell can't win the starting job, that would be a little concerning. All right, Fran's notes go on to say in the past game, he would be a QB spy on some third downs.
Starting point is 00:26:06 He showed a good ability to break on routes early in coverage, and he often ended up with tight ends. So he is a guy that can go and drop back and play a little coverage for you. In the run game, solid play recognition skills overall, says the great friend Duffy. He's good at diagnosing blocks in his periphery. He can get deceived by his eyes and read play fakes and play action a lot. Very comfortable playing downhill to the line of scrimmage. Rarely misses tackles. This is the one that's kind of most horny for Eagles fans out there.
Starting point is 00:26:45 He had a 7.3% mistackle rate in college. And it is one of the better numbers of any drafted linebacker in the last 10 years. Only 12 of 179 charted players by PFF had a sub-75 miss tackle rate with over 150. tackles. That is very sexy stuff. You know, there's nothing that drives the Eagles fans nuts more than the mistackles. Yeah, because everybody, everybody thinks they, it's like a, it's like a foul shot. Just like have the right form. Like just have, just square up. Get your, like get your shoulders low and tackle the guy. And it drives everyone nuts when sometimes the best athletes in the world get away from the other great athletes. Like sometimes they're going to win the down. But it is
Starting point is 00:27:32 very frustrating. You know, it's third and 12. We have the tackle at eight yards and, ah, just one little slip and they have the first down. It is wildly frustrating and bringing in a guy who, like, even if it's a low end thing just takes away those few extra possibilities, you need short tacklers. You absolutely do. Yeah, my dad used to say about free throws growing up playing, well, you better make them. They're free. And I was like, well, right, right. The word free is in the title. Exactly. Exactly. Exactly. So the next pick was pick 64, the Eagle sat pat and stayed and took Andrew McCuba, the safety out of Texas, actually former roommates of Jeremiah Trotter Jr. during his time at Clemson, really great family story behind them,
Starting point is 00:28:19 coming over and molding himself into a big-time D-1 football player. He's a little bit of a heat-seeking missile that's going to knock some snot out of people. and if I know Philadelphia Eagles fans, I know they love safeties that can knock the snot out of people. So excited to see the potential of Andrew McCuba. Hopefully he can steal a job. I'd love for him to earn a job over Sidney Brown or McCollum or whoever. He has the opportunity there with CJGJ's departure.
Starting point is 00:28:50 Yeah, the clip that made the rounds on social this weekend was the hit he put on Jackson Dart. That was really something. But no, it's a you just look at the area. is where they needed to fill in. And McCuba comes with the really good pedigree. I think the story of the first couple of rounds, though, is like the first three rounds, really. Yeah, that focus on defense, replacing what they've lost
Starting point is 00:29:15 and free agency after the Super Bowl. But, you know, they tried to get up to 22, 23. Ended up getting up to 31, but couldn't do it. You see them actually just stay in their spot in the second round and take a guy. And then in the third round, it's all right. all right, we're trading back. Yeah, and you just see that and won the price.
Starting point is 00:29:35 Like, yeah, there's going to be an Eagles tax. Absolutely. How we can't just keep doing, how does he keep getting away with it and then get mad when he finally does it? And I do wonder if certain teams are just like, you know, it seems like they're targeting this guy. Maybe we should just take them because we keep getting fooled. You know, like everyone kind of catches on.
Starting point is 00:29:57 I'm not, 2.15, no thanks. Let it go to voicemail. We got other stuff. There was a report from an anonymous GM that did say, like prior to the draft round one, that, yeah, if we see that 215 number pop up, we're not that anxious to answer it because we've been pants by that man before. So I think there's a little validity to it. Eventually, everyone has to catch on, right?
Starting point is 00:30:19 Like, eventually you can't just, oh, yeah, this is probably an even trade on both sides. Like, he wouldn't have called you. He wouldn't have called you if it was, bud. Yeah. He does lose trades sometimes. Oh, it happens. I think for, yeah, I think for most part, other GMs are like, what's up your sleeve there? All right, a couple notes on Macuba from Fran.
Starting point is 00:30:39 I love this one. Love his physicality. He arrives with bad intentions. That is awesome. That's, I think, like as much as the playmaking, the six interceptions, everything with C.J. G.J., not as if he's, you know, the most sure tackler or always in the mix, but the mentality he brought. Like I think what we lost in the year he was gone. And then when he comes back immediately, this was a completely different defense from
Starting point is 00:31:07 mentality. Maybe that's Vic Fangio. But with a lot of the same players back, they were just a more physical downhill badass defense with CJ's kind of swagger in there. And I think you need to replace that. If not with a dude with that sort of attitude, at least a guy who plays that way and can kind of bring you that element, I think real important to add to this defense. as it does continue to get younger.
Starting point is 00:31:30 Yeah, Fran goes on to say some of his physical skills or tools. He's a bit clunky laterally. He's more of that straight line athlete. He plays faster than his times say, but he can get stuck on blocks. His size is an issue on contact. So something he'll have to work on, obviously, at the NFL level. In the passing game, he says his own instincts are pretty strong. As a middle hook player, he reads QB's eyes and beats the throw to the spot at the catch point.
Starting point is 00:32:04 That's good stuff for what you'd like to see out of your safeties. He had one interception in three years at Clemson before erupting with five this year for the Texas longhorns. And if Matthew McConaughey's opinion means anything to you, he says a tremendous kid with a hard ass hat. The Eagles got a good one. So, all right, all right, all right. That's great. You see the ball skills and that's important. You look at the Eagles defense last year. I think they had 13 interceptions in the regular season, 11 of them by safeties. That's kind of the role in this defense. Howie alluding to, yeah, man, the box safety, like those days, basically another linebacker out there. Those are over. You need somebody who can play some coverage. It's good to see, you know, given the opportunity, the ball skills show up with the interceptions. Because that's, is a necessary part of this defense, someone who can hawk the ball on the back end. Yeah, now this next pick, defensive tackle, Ty Robinson. Bill, if you're anything like me,
Starting point is 00:33:08 once you saw the picture tweeted out by Jeff McDevitt out there of Ty with his pet camel, I was sold. I don't need to see anything else. I don't need to see end footage. Just show me tie with his pet camel and I'm in. Oh, you need some crazy people. This is a sport where like you're giving yourself a concussion on every play. You need some people who are just out of their mind on that D-line mixing it up. And that's, you got a pet camel. I'm like, hell yeah, count me in. This guy is the kind of weirdo we need.
Starting point is 00:33:41 Yeah. And it was a very cool moment this weekend. Cam Juergens was down on the Ocean City boardwalk doing like a Q&A and autograph session. As Ty was selected by the Eagles and a listener, viewer, whatever, broke the news to him. And he was like, hell yeah, I'm texting. him right now. That's awesome. I think he called him Big Red. So excited to have another corn husker here with them. But forget us. Why don't we listen to the head coach of the University of Nebraska. Head coach Matt Rule, former Temple Great, joined Anthony Gargano this morning to talk about the
Starting point is 00:34:18 Eagles' newest defensive tackle. And here's what Coach Rule had to say about Ty. Tell everybody that the minute the Eagles took Ty Robinson, you're like, dude, I'm on the show. I'll talk about this kid. I love this kid. I told him, you know, I talked to him right afterwards. I said, hey, listen, you know, obviously he went probably on the third round. You'll flip to the fourth. I said, you won't remember any of that, even a year from that. What you know is you're one of the best organizations in sports. I said you're going to the best city, the best fan base. And they're going to love him. You know, you're, you guys going to love him.
Starting point is 00:34:58 Like there's, you're not going to have to worry about, hey, am I going to get an honest day's work out of this guy? He is a, he's blue collar and he's tough. Yeah, and that, and you know what you know better at anybody. You're the author of Temple Tough. You know what we love. And this is exactly this kind of kid who's relentless, right? who's your you look at him and he's got he looks the part right he's a football player and that's what
Starting point is 00:35:23 people love in philadelphia yeah and he um you know to just to speak to his like his loyalty to type of guy that he is you know he gets done with the combine man he's back here training you know we got him and cam jergins are training here in the facility you know i mean one day i have cam jergins talk to the team next day i have tie talk the team he told me he said hey guys you know what you know they undressed him made me in this process i went down to the senior bowl the first day i'm with the third group. By the time we were done with that practice, they put me with the ones. You know, they just, you look at them and you don't know everything that you're getting. You're getting it. He's an explosive athlete. I mean, he put a show on at the combine.
Starting point is 00:36:02 So I think the Eagles added a guy that is going to be a starter in this league. And he's he's versatile, right? Up, you know, when you talk about playing up front, he's pretty versatile in that sense. Yeah, we first got here, you know, before he had, we had got here. You know, we had got here he was in a kind of a three four two gap system I mean he could get at the 3 30 and play the nose wow I he could be 95 300 and play you know you know kind of that big you know defensive end you know not truly an edge player but the defensive end and you know it can be a three techniques so to me you know I think when I think about the eagles you know we talk a lot
Starting point is 00:36:38 about the coaches I think coach washburn one of the best defensive line coaches in football and you know talk about a guy that's been a line coach but a de lion coach Don Briola was here and you know, Coach Watson, one of his best friends. And he said, you know, how good is that for Ty? Because Ty is so versatile. You know, he'll continue to accelerate his learning. He can rush the passer. I mean, he's just going to thrive, I believe, in Philadelphia.
Starting point is 00:37:04 That is awesome here. You know, it was interesting. You look and see how the Eagles won, right? How they've built this thing. And they clearly have been ahead of the curve on being a tough, physical, defensive-minded team, right? They draft Jihad Campbell a first round, the first time they pick a linebacker since 1978.
Starting point is 00:37:31 And, you know, it reminds me of kind of what you were looking to do. You saw this trend coming early in the NFL where it was going to get away from a passing league, pass, pass, pass, pass, and back to being more basic tenets of football. Yeah, you know, I go back to the Super Bowl watching that, you know, and then obviously in college, you know, we're using everything as recruiting. You know, we're talking to the guys afterwards about it and recruiting and stuff. And that looked to me like a team that had watched the Chiefs for two weeks and retired
Starting point is 00:38:02 to watch on the Chiefs. And by the time the game started, they're like, hey, let's get this all. And they didn't back down. They rushed, you know, they rushed the quarterback. All the things you guys know. But you look at how he has constructed the team. I mean, you know, best offensive line coach, best offense of line. best best that elite defense elite run game so you know when you talk about what wins in the
Starting point is 00:38:23 playoffs what carries you know having a run game is always going to carry you know having a great defense is always going to carry and so yeah you know we we we tried to do our first draft in Carolina started that way you know I think the thing that how he's done masterfully is you know they found Jalen Hertz and they found a guy you know I played against Jalen twice in college and his development, his growth in the NFL. He's such an amazing leader, but his growth has been unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:38:51 You know, one of my good friends, a little temple guy, Scott Leffler joined the team this year as a quarterback's coach. And when I was talking about the job, I was like, bro, I would absolutely, I'd be there tomorrow if I were you, because to work with Jalen,
Starting point is 00:39:04 to work with Coach Sieriani, I mean, they've done things the right way. That is great stuff from Nebraska head coach, Matt Ruhl. He's convinced me. This guy's going to be a starter in the NFL. Love it. Plus, hopefully the pet camel can find a nice place in the Delaware Valley to settle down its roots. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:39:23 Now, this just feels like another bet on high athletic upside and that sort of versatility we've been talking about, just ability to play multiple roles to put in the work, play as many downs as necessary, whether it's, okay, yeah, Jordan Davis is going to be out there on first and second. but maybe we have you at end. Maybe we have you at defensive tackle on third down, just playing in the different techniques, being a huge body up there. And we all know the star of the show, right?
Starting point is 00:39:54 It's Jalen Carter. If you're 6-6-300 plus, if you're able to take advantage of the one-on-ones you get, like it seems like he can rush the pass or pretty reasonably well given of just his, the way he tested for explosiveness at the combine, this could end up being a steal. Yeah, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:40:12 know if it was Zach or Fran, I can't remember because of all the tweets in my head this weekend, but somebody tweeted out, you know, the RAS score for the Eagles draft pick was their highest. It's something that they're very, but I think they were the highest in the league in terms of like percentage of, you know, top 5% RAS scores. So Ty probably another one of those guys that fits that mold, as you said there. Let's take a quick break because Zach Berman is going to be joining us from Washington, D.C., in a little bit and tell you about our friends at PHLY. And that would be our friends at Empire today.

This is the PHLY Eagles podcast brought to you by our friends over at TrueMark Financial Credit Union. Bill, I'm sure maybe some Eagles fans that don't typically watch the Flyer show are blown away by that hat collection behind you on the wall. What is the total number of hats that you own?
Starting point is 00:44:00 Have you ever counted? I just added it up for a mailbag we did the other day. I have like just in regular rotation, I think 25 Phillies hats. eight eagles, like three Philly A's, one clear water thresher's, four flyers, and the PHLY hat. That's what I've got. But it's like this whole wall behind me and then like over the doorway over here, also have some of the like the NLCS and World Series hat from 08 and the 17 Super Bowl hat.
Starting point is 00:44:34 So it's like, it's way too many. The answer is it's way, way too many. All right. I got him on the line. I don't want to keep them waiting. We have to go to the official White House correspondent of the PHLY Studios. Look at Mr. Berman, all suited and booted up. Zach, hello from the nation's capital. You know what? All those years of journalism school, this is my only time as the White House correspondent, right? So I will take that greeting for one day, right? I feel like the education is finally coming to use now. all your time in dc zack did you ever get to the white house to do a tour or go through it or anything i did the tour yeah i did the tour and then i did a few stories uh yeah um j you know the the pittsburgh pirates had a pitcher then ross olendorf who worked for the department of interior uh so was that the department of interior uh or the department of agrit culture raggather but um
Starting point is 00:45:32 yeah never the uh never the white house so never covered a team that won the super bowl i did it actually in 2017, but Eagles got disinvited, so it wasn't quite the same type of ceremony. So we'll see what happens in. I need to be in there in about 30 minutes. So curious to see what it's like. This is an interesting experience. Yeah, for sure. So what is the kind of schedule of events here?
Starting point is 00:45:58 What can we look out for? I'm sure you'll be doing some recap videos and articles for us at all B-H-L-Y.com. What's ahead of you this evening or this afternoon? Yeah, so 4 o'clock is when it's scheduled. I think I get or the media gets escorted to the South Lawn at 345. So I'll be in position at 345 and need to check in before that. And then I honestly don't know. I imagine it's quick, right?
Starting point is 00:46:24 You know, we get sent to schedule for the day and, you know, the president has something else at five. So I can't imagine this is going to go on too long. But obviously, you know, you want to see what's said. You want to see who's here. You want to see, you know, what. Look at that back. Yeah. Great work by you with the camera.
Starting point is 00:46:40 Look at that. You got the Washington Monument. Over there is my, one of my favorite spots in D.C. That's the Jefferson Memorial. Spent a lot of time there. But yeah, I, this is a real, you know, usually you go into an assignment and you know what's going to happen. Here, I have no idea, right? I mean, I know when and I know who, but I don't know what it's going to be like.
Starting point is 00:47:04 I can say, yeah, I imagine it's going to be a lot of platitudes and pleasantries, but we'll see. You know, it's probably the big story in the NFL today is the Eagles visiting the White House. Yeah, absolutely. And I don't know if Emily picked out your suit combination there, the shirt and tie. But the chat agrees. You're looking very dapper today, Mr. Byrne. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:47:26 I got one suit. So I was able to pick that out, right? That's what I like to hear, Jack. That's what I like to hear of one suit. I feel like you're a one suit kind of guy. A blue suit, you can change up the tie and shirt, but one suit. Absolutely. Zach, I just want to know, did you ever get around to shotgunning a Papps light after the draft coverage?
Starting point is 00:47:49 Did not get to do that. Maybe, you know what? I said when we do the Ospreys this summer, if we get enough people there at the Ospreys, then I will shotgun. I will shotgun the beer there. Outstanding. All right. That's perfect information.
Starting point is 00:48:06 That's commitment. in. This is that your word is as good as a strong as an oak tree here, Zach. In Washington, D.C., you got to follow through with your word, right? Yeah, exactly. So, Zach, any idea who will and won't be there? We saw an early tweet from a White House correspondent that Jalen Hertz and a couple others are going to be, have scheduling conflicts, quote unquote. Any idea who will or won't be present today? But we know Seekwant's going to be here, right? Yeah, not that clear. And I saw on Instagram, actually on the Uber ride over here, Mackay Beckton, looks like he's here.
Starting point is 00:48:44 But I don't have particulars as far as the other players yet, right? I mean, yeah, with the White House to confirm that John Hertz won't be here. In talking to Nick Siriani and Jeffrey Lurie at the owners' meetings, they're going to be here. Jeffrey Lurie was talking about, oh, I'm sorry, Nick Sieriani was talking about how excited he was. Jeffrey Lurie spoke about how this is, you know, like a time-honored tradition champions, you know, for decades. decades upon decades have been honored at the Super Bowl. Oh, I'm sorry, I've been honored at the White House. But as far as which players, I don't know that Eagles are in their offseason program,
Starting point is 00:49:16 but I don't know if they're mandated that or this obviously isn't a required period. I don't know what their schedule would have been today otherwise. But, you know, I will find that out shortly. And honestly, I mean, it's it's not as if I'm going to be, you know, peppering questions at them, right? So a big part of what I'm doing here is taking attendance and seeing who's here, kind of being the eyes in the years for Eagles fans back home. Love it. Well, Zach, we know you have a busy afternoon ahead of you.
Starting point is 00:49:43 We'll let you go. Did you have to do like a background security clearance? Are they going to be like examining you all and bomb sniffing your bag at the gate? Do you have any idea on the security measures? Yeah. So I, yeah, so that's what I had to send something in last week for security. And then, you know, my friend Elliot Shore Parks has been texting me for like the past hour. You hear, you hear.
Starting point is 00:50:02 The line's long, you know, give yourself time. and so then I'm frantically texting you, Jamie, like, I got to get on. I got to get to this line. But no, I mean, they got nothing to worry about other than some bad opinions from the 2020 draft. Well, great stuff, Zach. We'll be looking for your article tonight on all p.hly.com and maybe some video content coming as well. Appreciate the time. Great job on the backdrop there.
Starting point is 00:50:27 Absolutely. Thanks, guys. See you, Zach. There he is. The great Zach Berman, a phenomenal weekend from him. And, you know, regardless of your political opinions, I do think going to the White House is a opportunity that's pretty damn cool. I can see the allure of just like going, you know, a lot of presidents I haven't liked over the years, but it's still. Maybe all of them.
Starting point is 00:50:54 Yeah. Like, it's still a thing that you get to do. Not everyone gets that opportunity. And you did win the freaking Super Bowl. And I can see like especially a guy like Mackay Beckton. Like this is his, this is one of his last chances to be in that group. Because yes, he'll always have the ring, you know, when they have the ring ceremony. His name will always have been on that roster.
Starting point is 00:51:16 But he ain't here no more. Like this is the last one of those last opportunities where you get to have the brotherhood with the dudes who did it with you. And so we'll see, we will absolutely see who does and doesn't show up. But what a pro, Zach Berman, getting the getting some good shots in there. you know, he's going to have to wait in that line because he talked to us. But it's always funny to me to think of the beats outside of their stand-ups. Like when it ends, like him and ESP are like joking around.
Starting point is 00:51:47 It's always funny to me to picture that. Like, what are those conversations? Paul says what I could give to clog the White House toilet. If you could, I don't think there's a more famous toilet seat, is there? I would think not. Yeah, I mean... That's probably seen the most famous ass of any toilet seat in the world, Bill. There's definitely some jokes to put in there, but yes, absolutely. Absolutely. All right. Let's get to some of the very important stuff of why people are here today, Bill.
Starting point is 00:52:20 Why they're here. The show is winding down. A couple things to get to. One, the Shador Sanders prank call. Now, prank calling draft picks is nothing. Nothing new. No. Cooper, our own Cooper de Gene was even pranked last year. And VG from Anthony's show was telling me about how Baker Mayfield's own buddies
Starting point is 00:52:42 went into another room and prank called him on his draft day, which is just hilarious. This story became a big deal because Shador Sanders was the main talking point of the NFL draft weekend. But Ulbrick, who famously filled in for Robert Sala, Dornet, as an interim head coach with the New York Jets, now down in Atlanta as their defensive coordinator, I guess left the iPad out and his son hijacked the number, went back to Old Miss with his buddies, I'm sure had a couple drinks, and they decided to prank call Shador Sanders. That's a bad look for Obrick. That is a, that is a fail son, dragging dad down. I did feel bad for the dad, but he probably didn't
Starting point is 00:53:26 protect it well enough, I'm sure. I just, this went from me thinking this was just at all time. great prank to when I see it's a 21 year old and they filmed it. That's just sad. You're a dork. I honestly think like you're now I think the kid's a dork. Like, oh yeah, I'm 21 making prank phone calls. Like, and you're filmed like, you gave away the freaking, like, now you don't even get away with it. It's jackass.
Starting point is 00:53:53 I was, I was raised by the jerky boys. Like, so a prank call to me will always be funny. But you never film the crime. You dumbass. I thought kids were starting to get smart. You know, when they sent us to, when we went on the Montreal trip with Philly sports trips, we took a bunch of disposable cameras. And, oh, you know, disposable cameras.
Starting point is 00:54:16 You're actually making a comeback because the kids are starting to figure out putting everything in the cloud is really freaking dumb. And here we are, 21-year-olds filming, like doing something this dude. Come on now. Yeah. Be smarter with your friends. I saw a couple jokes at the NFL's expense. that they solved this case quicker than they did most domestic violence cases in the league. Fair point.
Starting point is 00:54:38 Probably a little too much attention was paid on this case. All right. Contributing to the, you know, Shador Sanders side. Yeah. It's just, it was ridiculous how much it was talked about this weekend. All right. Now, I want to brag about my cousin, Bill, as I feel like your, oh, crankyankers, right? That is a very funny show as well.
Starting point is 00:54:59 Outstanding. Outstanding. And Bart Simpson's prank calls. I mean, always amazing. Poor Mo. Now, my cousin achieved greatness this weekend, Bill. And I'm curious if you have any interest in doing this challenge. But my cousin lives in Chicago now.
Starting point is 00:55:15 And when the Phillies come to town, it's the highlight of his year. He gets to market on the calendar. And I was in Florida with them two weeks ago. And we were talking about the 9-99 challenge. If you're unfamiliar with the 9-99 challenge, it is nine beers, nine hot dogs. in nine innings of baseball. He went on Saturday and was giving us play-by-play updates of the 9-99 challenge.
Starting point is 00:55:41 And I got to say, I didn't think he had it in him. He ended up completing it with one out to spare in the bottom of the ninth. And I got to give him credit. He went with the 16-ounce beers, not the standard 12-ounce beers. So really good work by him. Does Bill Mats think he could complete a 9-99 challenge? You know, that is the game going the full nine instead of eight and a half. Like, you do need that little bit of extra, I would say.
Starting point is 00:56:10 You need the home team. Absolutely. Yeah, you need the home team to need those runs in the ninth. Yeah, I do think I could complete this. The issue I've always had, and when, you know, back in the day, we, my friends and I on Dollar Dog, RIP, on Dollar Dog Nights. The biggest challenge to me is the dog's getting cold. get all nine or do you go up to line multiple times and then take away from your overall experience or do you just go you know what i'll eat four cold dogs and i'll just deal with it i do so i think with
Starting point is 00:56:45 the dollar dog days yeah those lines made it so awful that you kind of had to grab them if it's just a normal challenge or whatever it was i think he went up three times i think he went up at basically at the end of the third uh like the end of the fifth and then he i think they went i think they shut down at Wrigley in the 8th. So I think he went back up at the 8th. I really don't have any desire to see if I could do this challenge. I like hot dogs, but I don't think there's any scenario,
Starting point is 00:57:13 regardless of performance enhancing drugs, where I could eat nine hot dogs and not feel absolutely terrible. No, this is just one of those things you do and know that the results, you know, you have to sacrifice for greatness. In order to achieve glory, you do need to put other things at risk. And I can't imagine your cousin felt great during or after this challenge. But he completed it.
Starting point is 00:57:46 And that's the mission right there. He FaceTime me later when he was walking home. He was smoking a cigar. And he looked like the happiest man on earth. And I was like, dude, you're throwing a cigar into the mix. Are you insane? and he's like, yeah, the chances of an uh-oh are probably pretty high. But I believe his, I believe his boxers made it out clean this weekend.
Starting point is 00:58:09 That's all you can ask for, honestly. Yeah. If you're able to complete it and then make it home, outstanding. I mean, that's the marathon in record time right there. And by the way, not only is the 999 challenge, probably not great for your body. It's also going to cost you. That was my question here. I did the math.
Starting point is 00:58:31 Approximately at Citizens Bank Park, it's going to run you about $170, give or take a little bit, to do this challenge. He said it was close to 200 at Wrigley. I'm out. You know, that's, I was saying to someone the other day, you know, I freaking love ballpark food, absolutely. But in the last few years, it's just been like, all right, given this budget, let's put it all in the beer. and haven't really done the food end of it. I can't imagine like the nine beers and nine food items of any at any ballpark. Like, yeah, I can see that being, yeah, 170, 200.
Starting point is 00:59:12 And that's before you get into the premium beer thing. That's for your lighter domestics. Yeah, if they were smart, they would do Papp's life. But we're headed to overtime. Overtime. Last one for you before we get out of here today, Bill. The internet, for some reason, as the internet does, got into a very dumb discussion weekend. And the dumb discussion at hand after the NFL draft was completed was, could a hundred men take down one gorilla?
Starting point is 00:59:57 Now, this is without weapons, bare hands, a hundred men versus one gorilla. Do you think 100 men could take down one gorilla? I do think eventually you could overwhelm it. But this would have to be in like waves of 10, 15 at a time. And before my flyer show today, me, you and Tyler were talking like, yeah, this is like beached Normandy stuff. The first dude, good luck, pro. Maybe we're getting two or three to the finish line here. But, you know, I always think back there was, and this is what the internet's great.
Starting point is 01:00:35 for, right? But it was like a bonfire and me and a couple of my buddies sitting around with our girlfriends or wives at the time. And I'm like, no, me, Mike and Brian, armed with beer bottles, could take down a silver back grill. But 100% we could do that.
Starting point is 01:00:50 And then like 20 minutes later, there was like a huge spider someone saw and my buddy, Mike freaked out. And I was like, no, we couldn't. Never mind. We have zero chance. Zero chance. But like, you see these, like, yeah, that's like a huge human, but, you know, Ice Cube got Debo eventually. Maybe we could do it.
Starting point is 01:01:12 I don't know, man. I don't know. These things are sometimes you're just overmatched. Yeah. Now, Steve Whitaker says, no weapons, no way. I think you're right, though. I think you'd have to go almost like hockey line changes. I think you'd have to do like four lines of 25 at a time. You'd have to like table. top them and get them down somehow. Yeah. Could be a her. I don't know why I'm calling it a he, very sexist of me. Either way, you'd have to really commit to the amount of people going at it. You can't do this one at a time.
Starting point is 01:01:48 Because just like the humans involved, only a man gorilla would be like, yeah, let me fight 100 dudes. I can do that. Only the male gorilla is dumb enough to do that. I'm fighting 100 dudes, sure. Just like, oh, like, that's 100% what the problem is here. Yeah. We're all just looking at each other like, we could do this.
Starting point is 01:02:07 The girl's like, no. No, you idiot. I wonder if the guerrillas sit around and like, how many? 150. How many dudes would it take to take you down? I know the commenter said no way, but I got to think there's a way. We're just the sheer. Now, look, a lot of these people are going to die.
Starting point is 01:02:29 Yeah. There will be casualties. All 100 are going to live. Yeah, I feel like it could be done. It's not easy. I'm not underestimating the gorilla here. Great lateral speed, great bench press reps at the combine. I mean, the grill is putting up numbers.
Starting point is 01:02:43 But 100 people, I feel like could overwhelm it. Like a couple, like, as he's knocking out three or four people at once, someone has to grab him by the leg. Like, we get a couple of people wrapped around his legs. You get someone to throw a clothesline in there. Eventually, you can dog pile them, right? Like, what's the goal? Like, we pin him eventually.
Starting point is 01:03:04 I think you'd have to choke them out, right? You can do this. Yeah. I mean, oh, Paul raises a good point is the grill of throwing poop. That could deter some people. That would, that would maybe take a couple, take a couple out right away before the initial matter. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:22 Jesse says the first dude I see getting his chest pounded into dust. I'm out of there. I would be a coward and run away too. I don't know if I could commit after the first line. That's that we need, this has to be in order to. counteract. Like, this has to be like a steel cage match where no one can get out. Like, that's the other problem because after the, after you see the first seven people perish,
Starting point is 01:03:44 it's like every, yeah, 50% are out of there and now it's no longer 100 to 1. Like now the odds are dwindling. So I don't think there's any hope of knocking the gorilla out. I think you would have to choke it out. Like you would have to rear naked choke and cut off the air. I don't think any male, regardless of size. Even if the mountain's in there with us, I don't think anybody's knocking the gorilla out. No, that's, we're trying to survive here.
Starting point is 01:04:13 I'm thinking, get this thing on its back for three seconds. That's the best we could possibly do. Yeah, and then just pummel it. And then get the hell out of there. If I was on bet three, six, five right now, I would say the five Jalen Carter's would be enough, Jim says. That's a good battle right there. Yeah, like, who are the, who are the, who, are the human beings, you know, like, what, what are we, is it me and you? Is it 100, is it 100 podcast hosts?
Starting point is 01:04:40 Because I don't love our chances the way like, yeah, we get Elaine Johnson in there. We get a Jordan Milata in there. Like, maybe. But if. All right. So the, the first two Eagles you would take off the board for this. Yeah. Would have to be myelot and Jalen Carter, right? Like those are the two top draft picks in the, in the guerrilla battle? Yes, 100%. Okay. Who else would jump out to on paper to? you. Obviously, Devante would be toast. This is not a good situation for him. No, we need the beef. We absolutely. Cam Juergens, I could see being strong. Somehow match the ice. Yeah, the gorilla has to do the 9-99 before this. That's how we even the odds.
Starting point is 01:05:21 Absolutely. Ray says, can you use the snap bones of the victim as improvised weapons? I think that's legal. If you're going to pick up your buddy and swing. him like a weapon after he's been defeated. It's not a weapon. It's a good dabber. It's just one of the hundred. Maybe Jalen Hertz's 600 pound squatting ability comes into hand in this battle. Maybe we get him in there. That's how we get the girl. It's a little too handsome for this. You know, I don't I don't know if we want the quarterback in there. Honestly, you know, as much as I want to beat this gorilla, I want to win another Super Bowl more, I think. Yeah. That was a fun conversation. Thank you. internet. Would you, would you, would you play a gorilla for another Super Bowl? Is that the, is that the, no, no, I'm out. I'm good. I've got two. I'm happy. I got two. I'm all right. I like my girls too much. I don't want to die. All right. Two last things for you. An awesome photo this weekend. I saw a friend of mine in it, which got my attention. I was like, oh, that's Danny from Angelo's. Holy hell. Here's the photo courtesy of Devin Caney on Twitter of the Eagles cafeteria staff that,
Starting point is 01:06:31 kept the team caffeinated and fed all weekend long. There's your normal cast of Eagles cafeteria workers who are beloved in the building. There's my friends Danny and Angela and Jared from Angelo's over on the right. And then in the back there in the middle, there's a very handsome man. And I was like, why is that guy there? Oh, wait, that's Bradley Cooper, famously of Zach Berman and Julia's high school alumni fame. But Bradley Cooper, is this guy not crushing life right now? Like he gets to take an entire episode of the Mighty Gemstones and steal the show. You know, he's dating.
Starting point is 01:07:12 Who's he dating again? Somebody famous. You know, just on top of the world. And then he gets to feed his football team's organization. That is pretty cool. Not too shabby. No, that's really cool. Bradley Cooper is, he seems really genuine in his, in his fandom.
Starting point is 01:07:28 And how do you not appreciate that? Yeah, very, very cool stuff. Bradley Cooper feeding the Eagles organization this weekend. Very cool stuff to see. And I did have one other thing for you. And now I'm totally brain farting on it. That's all right. We'll get to it another time.
