Hello, everybody, and welcome to a very special fun episode of the PHAY Eagles podcast, live from the Xfinity Lounge, and presented by Ashley, O'Wolf, Fran Duffy, E.J. Smith, the annual around the NFL draft. And I know, Fran, that your competitive streak, getting ready to come out.
I will say this. This is one of my favorite episodes of the offseason. I love this idea from you.
Yeah, this was one of my favorites last year
And I've been like waiting chomping at the bit for this year
I'm excited
He did a good job last year
You came in second place, that was fun
A debut performance by you
A debut performance came into number one last year was great
I'm doing well
I'm excited for this
I am I would say I'm like 70% excited
I'm I've had to like ramp myself up
To know I know what's coming
I know how this exercise will go
But I think it's a fun it's a fun exercise
And I'm gonna try to enjoy it
If you will allow me to have some fun
I will most certainly allow you to do that.
Happy Shorts Day to everybody.
Yeah.
Pay off for raising money for Big Brothers Big Sisters last Thursday.
I believe we're supposed to have one more short stay coming our way as well.
Very exciting stuff.
Also, before the proceedings begin,
talked about it at the end of yesterday's episode,
but we've got to pitch this bad boy early on.
The Ospreys are coming,
and we're going to be fancy.
We're going to be at the Fittler Club on August 20th.
That's 7 p.m.
It's going to be a good evening.
Fun celebration.
Given out awards.
Maybe some special guests.
Maybe some musical performances.
Who knows?
Birthday cake?
Join us at the Fittler Club.
I don't know what you're talking about.
Check out the events page on all page.
com to do that.
All right.
Are we ready to get going?
This could take a while.
So we weren't going to get ready.
Yeah, we should get right to us.
You're worried about, you're worried about EJ's
birthday? Worried is not the word I would use to describe it. I'm all right anxious. I'm very excited.
Here are the rules. There are 32 spots for us to fill. Quarterback. Backup quarterback. And this
has to be the team's actual backup quarterback. Running back, three receivers, tight end.
Need a left tackle, a left guard, a center, a right guard, a right tackle. And then you get
one extra offensive player, offensive weapon, running back, wide receiver, or tight end.
on defense.
Two edge, two defensive tackle,
and a fifth defensive linemen of your choice.
Two linebackers, two corners, two safeties, a nickel,
and an extra defensive player, a defensive flex.
That's 26.
And how do you fill out the other six spots?
Head coach, offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator,
stadium, owner, and general manager.
Now, general manager in the grand scheme of things,
very important.
In this exercise, a little bit less so.
The idea that we're thinking of this prism through
is you're trying to win the Super Bowl as soon as possible.
So you're trying to have the best team this season,
but general manager matters just a little bit.
Same for owner, right?
How odious do you want to be?
Absolutely correct.
So it'll be fun to kind of talk through that with everybody.
But I want to just share with you.
Do you mention the competitive nature coming out?
Yeah.
The guerrilla warfare aspect for me,
I waited until just before just to show EJ the spreadsheet.
Yeah, and that was, you know, that was just an intimidation tactic.
You know, I feel pretty good about my spreadsheets today, but yeah, Fran's got color coding, he's got frozen columns.
I'm, I get a little bit of that going on, but that's...
I mean, you have to, you can't not have it.
Yes, E.J., I want to know, as the newbie and the person who won our last game, as the debutante, as it were.
You didn't win the last game.
Yeah, he lost the last game.
You lost the last game.
You lost the last game specifically I lost, but the war I won.
As the debutante, how did you go about preparing for this exercise?
I went through all 32 teams and I listed options that I would have liked to get.
And I tried to pinpoint on each team where I felt like there was a drop off.
And then I had players that I still would be happy with, you know,
because I know I'm going to have to fill out positions.
So I'd say between five and 10 players on each team that are on my radar and then I've got guys that I really want to get.
I told Fran, from there, I ranked my each position.
I ranked the top five, kind of like an ideal scenario.
and then to really game out like an ideal scenario,
I put together one team of one player from each team
that would be like the perfect team.
And I'm going to try to preserve that as much as I can.
But listen, I'm here to learn about how this experience goes.
And, you know, but also I want to say,
I am also here to win.
So we will see how it goes for me.
All right.
E.J., would you like to pick your spot in the draft order?
Yeah.
Snake order here.
I'm okay going.
I think I'm okay taking the first pick here.
Okay.
Well, then why don't we make things easy?
Just let it go.
flow this way. We'll go you
and Fran. Thank you for that. I appreciate
that. That's fine with me. But that it's going to go back
EJ just so you know. The snake draft. Okay.
You get two picks for row every time.
Except for the first time. Yeah.
The very first pick
of the around the NFL draft, curious
where you go here, what are you going to do?
I get really nervous for your guys' reaction,
but I feel good about
taking Laramie Tunsell here.
I'm going to take a left tackle at a premium
position off the board
on a team that I didn't like a lot of the options
that. So I know it's strange that Laramie Tunsell is the first pick here, but I want to make
sure I get a premium position addressed, and I want to avoid anyone else on that commander's roster.
Interesting. Not where I would have gone. Here's what I'll say. Here's what I will say for you.
I did this exercise. We have talked a lot about the Jeremy Fowler rankings. Yeah. Right?
They're not perfect, but just as a reflection of where the talent is, how many players each team has
on all of the top 10 lists combined, right?
Okay.
There are two teams that have zero.
There are four teams that have one.
And you did nail the one who's on Washington.
That's Larry Me Tonsol.
So there's no doubt that you have gotten the best player on that team.
But I don't think that he's left tackle is such an important position.
I don't think that he's a top five left tackle.
Yeah.
So that's not why I would have gone.
Top five, around the fringe of the top five, I would say,
listen, my board's not your board.
So, you know, you can say that you wouldn't have gone that way.
But I wanted to make sure I wasn't picking at the scraps of the commander's roster later today.
All right.
Go ahead.
Especially I have a terrible owner, terrible stadium.
You can't really backfill that team.
It's similar.
Not all that different from your strategy the last couple of years because you had the first pick
each of the last two years, I believe, I believe.
And you took another player at a similar at the same position.
Yeah, but I think the idea.
I think the quarterbacks were gone when I did that.
Oh, so you went third.
With your first pick, you took the same player.
Yes.
All right.
Well, I am going to go with the most important position in sports.
Yeah.
And a team where I was a little surprised at the lack of other blue players.
Yeah, it's an interesting exercise from that perspective.
Yes.
I'm going to go with Josh Allen here.
Okay.
The quarterback from Buffalo Bills.
MVP caliber quarterback.
To me, like, when I, so my process was blue, blue player is like, I definitely want to target this player.
green is like this is a good player I'd be happy to have and then red is like I'll grit my teeth and take this player
Josh Allen was the only blue for Buffalo for me so give me Josh Allen here and I'll be happy with that
All right, it's good.
That's, I think would you, if you were just picking the any quarterback you could have, is that who you would pick?
I mean, he would be on the short list for sure.
Yeah.
Okay.
I would say like, you know, top two, top three.
Yeah, I'd have him in that conversation.
All right.
All right.
I think it's a good pick.
Because now, Beau gets two picks now.
It's easy because we're in order today.
That's true.
That's a good point.
All right.
Before I figure out my next pick, this is not quite as game theory E
because there are plenty of other blue chip players on this team,
even beyond the players, the head coach, the defensive coordinator.
But I'm going to make sure that I get the best player in the NFL,
the best player at the most important position.
I will take Patrick Mahomes as my quarterback.
back.
Then I think what I'm going to do, yeah, I think if I'm thinking of the next three most important
positions in the sport, there is one where there is kind of like a tonsily situation
where this team only has one guy left.
He's probably the best player at his position,
and there's nobody else I would want from that team necessarily.
Yep.
And that is Jamar Chase.
Oh, interesting.
With the Cincinnati Bengals.
Okay.
I'm not expecting you to go there.
So I'm taking Jamar Chase.
That's, yeah, that's not a bad pick.
I think that makes a lot of sense.
I didn't expect that either from you.
Yeah.
One sec.
Let me just adjust that there.
Okay.
All right.
So looking at the rest of,
of my board here, I think the way I'm going to go.
Hmm, do I do it here?
I'm gonna wait.
All right.
I know here to take.
Well, no, actually, I don't need to make this pick yet.
All right, I'm gonna go a little off the board here.
Okay.
If I'm building a team for right now, for this season.
Want a head coach?
Oh, interesting.
I want the guy that's running the whole show
from a, from the offensive design.
you got to win against the Eagles this year
and famously took a shirt off in the locker room.
I'm going to go Ben Johnson here.
Interesting.
Very interesting.
The only blue target I had on the bears.
And yeah, I feel a real like needle mover at that position.
So give me Ben Johnson here.
I thought about when somebody would do that
because I think that is the right pick on this team too.
Yep.
I'm a little surprised you did it that early
but it's a good I wanted to get out ahead of it yeah I wanted to get out of it
okay all right so I think Ben Johnson okay I'll tell you who I was thinking about
taking in this spot and why I didn't take them all right can I get one pick and then
we can go to break give me some uh give me some time to think you haven't even had a
double yet we got a lot of doubles to come okay fine um the first player I'm going to
take here not as much game theory just you know addressing yeah a position
group I want to make sure I am rock solid at and trying to take a player that I do think
is probably the best at their position.
Actually, yeah, yeah, probably the best at their position.
I know that this is going to take a lot of really good players off the board as well,
but I'm going to take Lane Johnson at right tackle.
Really?
Yeah, interesting.
That is interesting.
This is the same thing that happened last year.
I am surprised by that.
I want to make sure I'm solid up front.
Okay.
First Eagle off the board is Lane Johnson.
I am going to make a pick again.
I'm sorry.
Okay.
We got a long way to go.
Sure does.
All right.
E.J. has built his tackles.
Tunsel and Lane Johnson is how he's building his team.
I'm going to then take a player from a team I didn't feel amazing about,
but again, I want to make sure I'm getting some of the best players in the NFL.
I'm going to go edge rusher.
I'm going to take Micah Parsons.
Okay.
Now you don't get him until October.
or whatever it is, but.
Yeah, we're playing for January and February.
Okay.
I'm trying to get needle movers here.
Micah Parsons.
And I thought, did you guys feel like going through this exercise,
Green Bay was a little bit lighter than you might have expected?
I did, yes.
And I think we had actually, I didn't go back and watch last year's show,
but I actually feel like we talked about that last year
as we were a little surprised by how few blue players there were at the top of the...
Yeah, how many blue players did you have for Green Bay?
For Green Bay.
I had two.
Who was the other one?
I'm not telling you.
I've got to wait a little bit here.
I'll pick it against this guy.
I wonder who that is.
All right.
Over to you, Fran.
For the first time in the history of this exercise,
I'm going to not let you take Tristan Werfs.
I will take Tristan Werfs.
It's a good one.
The reason I did not take him last round
was because E.J. had already taken Laramie Tunsel
and could not take Tristan Wharf.
So I will take Tristan Worf's here in this spot
and feel good about my left tackle spot.
Okay.
That's a good one.
Yeah, where if so somebody high on my board?
I am going to go ahead and just,
I'm going to take the two best players in the NFL
at their respective positions.
This is not a bad strategy here.
Rams are loaded.
Yeah.
Give me Miles Garrett.
Yep.
And then would you like to guess
which team had the most players
in the top 10 of the Jeremy Fowler exercise?
Most players.
in the top 10.
Seahawks?
Not the Seahawks.
Lions?
The Lions. The Lions have nine.
Really?
A league leading nine.
Chiefs and Eagles were second with seven.
But I will take one of those nine,
and I will take Penny Sewell as my left tackle.
All right, so left tackle, dried up.
Gone.
Yeah, I guess I didn't need to do that just there,
but that's okay.
All right.
I guess Sewell, you guys could have put it right tackle.
That's true.
I thought about that.
I also thought about Worf's, but I wasn't sure if I could put him at right time.
I think as long as they have actually played that position in the league, I think it's okay, too.
Okay.
All right, over to you, Fran.
And then after this first pick, EJ, you'll get a break.
Thank you.
I'm going to go, I'm going to select my first edge rusher here.
And this was another team where I only had one blue and honestly not that many green targets here for this roster.
New coaching staff, give me T.J. Watt, the past,
from Pittsburgh Steelers.
Yeah, I didn't feel great about the rest of that roster.
Yeah, I totally good.
That's a bad roster.
Yeah, so give me T.J. Watt here in this spot.
All right.
Over to you.
E.J., and then I will reset the scene here.
I thought you just told me I was getting a break.
You meant midwest.
You get one more pick, yes.
Okay.
All right.
Let's see here.
You know what?
I'm going to stick to my board.
Might be an unorthodox board,
but again, it's going to fit the vision
that I have for my team.
And I'm going to stick with teams
that I don't want to be picking at
toward the end of this exercise.
I'm going to go with,
I can't wait for you guys
to react to this one too.
Tyler Linderbaum from the Las Vegas Raiders.
I want to get the best center in football
and I don't want to mess with the rest of the Raiders roster.
So building through the trenches,
building a strong offensive line.
Okay, you just get three offensive linemen.
It's not the craziest thing you've ever done.
He's one of the three blues on that.
team, I would say.
Correct.
Okay, so, okay, there it is.
EJ starts Tunsel, Linderbaum, Lane Johnson, and Micah Parsons.
Franz got Josh Allen, Tristan Wirthes, T.J. Watt, and Ben Johnson.
And I've just got the four best players in football.
Patrick Mahomes, Penny Sewell, Jamarches, and Miles Garrett.
Where do we go from here?
Stay tuned after this.

We're back on the P.H.M.Y. Eagles podcast.
E.J., you are back on the clock.
as we move to round five of the fabled around the NFL draft.
You said that you were getting the best players in the NFL at each position.
We're going to do this through the prism of the Hogi Fest Hangout.
Yeah, baby.
By our friends at Wawa.
Shout out to Wawa.
I'm actually going to get the best player at his position.
Unlike you, I'm going to take Justin Jefferson from the Viking.
That's a good pick.
That's the pick that I would have made next.
Yeah.
And arguably an even bigger drop-off
in Minnesota because there's no Dexter Lawrence
like there is in Cincinnati.
So a good pick by you.
Yeah, that was a good pick.
I'm going to go with a player that I just
I just love this player and I would put him
on the same caliber in terms of like he is
he's on the short list of
Top players.
I thought he's going to say more of a Joe Mo.
I could take another edge.
If you can't take Haydn-Rike, he's on the Steelers.
I'm going to take Houston Texans
pass rusher, Will Anderson.
So give me Will Anderson to pair
with T.J. Watt.
I feel really good about my defensive
front to start things off here. That's fun. I love Will
Anderson. I totally am with you there.
Okay.
Those were, I had four,
I had five guys listed as the way wanted on this
turn here, so he took two of them.
I am definitely going to
use one of my spots.
And this is a team where
going through this exercise made me feel much better about
them. I would have otherwise.
I was sort of poking fun at them last year,
kind of a paper
AFC championship trip for them.
However,
I'm taking the best corner of football.
I'm going to be Pat Sartan.
But you guys still have plenty of good players,
blue chip players on that Broncos team.
And then I am going to take Kyle Hamilton.
Good one.
So I feel very good about my secondary.
Kyle Hamilton and Pat Sartan.
the Ravens are a team where like even their blue chip guys
they're either at not the most important positions
or they're a little bit older.
Yep.
And so yeah, Hamilton, certainly we know how good he is
and in the prime of his career.
I think that's right.
I think of where E.J. might go.
I know the position I want to go with here.
More likely than I might do that.
All right, I'm going to take my first receiver.
players, I don't think I would take.
So I'm going to take Pooka Nakua here.
Wow, after you spent all last year
hating on Pooka Nakua.
That is not true.
Every time I took him, you, yeah, absolutely.
That was your love affair with Tyree Kill last year.
And you now have decided that only now
that you really know what Pook is all about,
are you willing to have him on your team?
How did Tyreek do for your team last year?
What was he all about?
There's nothing I can say to that.
I'll take Puka in this spot and we'll see what are the receivers I can surround him with later.
Okay, good one.
Okay.
With the first pick in my two here, I'm going to go with the coach I know can win a Super Bowl,
an elite play caller to take advantage of this offensive line that I put together.
I'm going to take Sean McVeigh.
I want the offensive mind as my head coach.
Okay.
And then it gets harder for me here.
I have a couple of different places I could go.
And Fran's right that like the blue chip players really dry up faster than you think they're going to.
We've been talking about that before the show.
Yeah.
So I'm going to, I'm going to stick with my defense strategy here.
Don't love a lot of the options on Tennessee, so I'm going to go with Pete Skrowski.
Interesting.
Oh, wow, you're really, I really beefing up that a line.
I want a strong front.
Yep.
Building it, building it with a philosophy here.
Okay.
Okay. So going in at left guard, I'm assuming?
Yes.
Well, I mean, as you played both, I think I might,
I'll take the flexibility if I can, if I can have it.
I'll do the research by the time it comes back to me.
We'll see if you need it or not.
Yeah, I'll see what you go.
So Bo has taken this position.
Go and do it.
Yeah, I'm going to do that.
I'm going to take my second tackle here.
And I'm going to take Joe Alt from the Chargers.
Good pick.
Young player, obviously coming off the injury, but when I look at the upside here,
honestly, I didn't feel great about the right tackle position overall.
I miss out on lane.
But I think Joe Alt is a player that I think is worthy of this draft slot based
of what we saw from him early in his career.
Okay.
A solid pick, but I do get the two people that I was hoping for here.
I am going to take to make sure since you took Skoronski, that is a two-
player team all the way.
So give me Jeffrey Simmons as my first defensive tackle.
And then I'm going to take the best guard in football.
Give me Tyler Smith from the Dallas Cowboys.
You do love the Cowboys.
How about them Cowboys?
E.J., you have not taken a Cowboy, correct?
Not yet.
My team so far.
Patrick Mahomes, Jamar, Chase, Penae Sewell, Tyler Smith, Jeffrey Simmons, Miles Garrett,
Pat Sartan and Kyle Hamilton.
Fran's got Josh Allen, Pooka, Kouc,
Tristan Worf's, Joe Alt, Will Anderson,
T.J. Watt, and Ben Johnson.
E.J. Justin Jefferson,
a nice four-man offensive line
of Tunsell, Skaronsky, Linderbaum, and Lane.
You're starting to see the vision.
Micah Parsons and Sean McVeigh.
I am going to
take another blue chip receiver.
Don't do this. I'm going to take CD Lamb
from the spot.
I was one. So I know
who you're going to take here.
Yeah.
But I felt comfortable
about some of the other options
at this team.
That's fair.
So I'm going to take C.D. Lamb here.
I'm going to go.
I'm going to run the card in.
I'm taking Jackson, Smith, and Jigba
to make my receiving core even stronger.
Good one.
And then with my next pick,
I'm going to Hem and Hall a little bit here.
You know what?
I'm going to go for it.
I know this isn't necessarily
a premium position,
but I got Sean McVeigh in place.
I have a strong offensive line.
I'm building a team that I can envision
playing a certain way.
And I'm going to add a Swiss Army knife
for Sean McVeigh here.
I'm going to add Christian McCaffrey
from the 49ers.
Oh, interesting.
Hope you invest in the backup running back spot.
I mean, I don't know if a team in this
draft has ever been as injured as
as EJ's as likely to be, but the third team
from last year.
I just want the audience to know.
I just want to.
I just want the audience to know, I don't, you know, I work over here in silence.
I stay focused on the task.
Just because I don't denigrate their teams as much as they denigrate mine.
It doesn't mean that my team is worse.
I just, I'm staying focused over here.
I'm above, above the banter.
No, you're not.
All right.
I am going to go here with a team.
Oh, then that gives you this player.
I'm probably not going to take that player anyway, so I'm just going to chalk that up to you.
Yeah, give me Brock Bowers.
Ah, okay.
Yeah, I'm going to take Brock Bowers here in this spot.
Raiders don't have too much there in terms of top, top-end talent,
but obviously he is near the top of that list.
Okay, Brock Bowers off the board, first tight end off the board.
And E.J. has also taken his Raider, so you're right,
that I will probably just get Max Crosby, but I don't need to use a pick on that right now.
Nope.
I could do that.
But I want to focus on the important positions still.
Yeah.
And so I think there's plenty of depth at a couple of other positions
and maybe less so in terms of elite, elite corners.
So I'm going to take the second Philadelphia Eagle.
And I'm going to take Quignan Mitchell.
I can close the Wawa Hangout as the second.
I get my pick of the rest of the Eagles here.
Get your pick of the rest of the egos.
You can wait.
And yeah,
certainly it could be Cooper to Jean,
could be Jalen Carter.
You can wait and see you can...
Certainly you could take Sean Mannion.
He works hard.
One thing about Sean,
he can be working hard now.
One thing you got to know about him.
The thing is,
if I take him,
then that means I'm out one less parking spot
in my office.
You know, he's going to take one early.
That's true.
Meanwhile, my...
I think my right situation
is already settled pretty much.
So give me...
I'm going to go a little bit cute here,
and this is the rejoinder to your Brock Bauer's pick.
This is another team where it is a very similar situation
and probably the other best young tight end
in the league, give me Trey McBride from the Arizona Cardinals.
Okay, yep.
Okay with that pick.
All right.
Back to me.
I don't know who my defense coordinator is yet.
so this might come back to bite me later we'll see but when I look at blue chip corners
don't do that no
now that I know that EJ's looking at that position maybe I can wait and let him pick for me
hmm oh now I'm now I'm torn EJ kind of showing his hand really uh really might have really might have
Really might have tilted the scales here.
You never know.
Elite strategy just over here.
All right.
I am going to go.
Hmm.
Now I'll stick with it.
Because this team just though there's not a ton there.
Hmm.
Give me sauce Gardner.
Yeah.
I saw a gardener from the cold side.
I didn't love a ton of what I was working in terms of like premium players at premium
positions.
So I'm going to take sauce gardener in this spot
All right, I'm running the card in again
On my first selection here
I'm going to go with
I'm going to take Derek Stingley Jr. off the Texans
I'm going to make sure I get a blue chip corner here
Yep
Now do I do do I stick to what I want to do
Do I stick to my vision for the team
Or do I try and punish Fran
They already got it you got one of the guys
Oh
You know what?
I'm going to play my board and not play the man.
I'm going to go with Aiden Hutchinson off of the lion.
Okay.
I'm going to make sure I have a good pass rush here.
Okay.
Now Fran will get his pick of the rest of the good lions.
Got Micah and Aidan Hutchinson.
All right.
Let's do your pick and then my first pick and then we'll go to break.
All right.
So for me,
I'm going to have blue chip players.
I don't need to make a pick there yet.
Hmm.
I love this play.
I'm going to go back to back corners here.
Thought about doing it.
I really thought about it.
Give me Christian Gonzalez.
Yep.
Yeah.
Now I feel pretty good about the corner room where it's like, all right, I got sauce.
If I want to get, you know, get up and beat up receivers at the line, Gonzalez can also do that,
but also has got more scheme versatility because of his band coverage capabilities.
Give me Christian Gonzalez.
Yep.
I think that's a good pick.
Fair pick.
I will then.
I could do that.
I took Aiden Hutchinson.
Ah, all right.
No, I don't want any of those guys.
I thought about Gonzalez.
I will take the very first linebacker to go off the board.
I will take the other.
I continue to just get the best player in football at their position.
Give me Fred Warner from the San Francisco 49ers.
I did think about him.
And we will go to break.
Hold on. Before we go to break, so when I draft Christian McCaffrey, it's like,
oh my god, you're going to have the most injured 20 minutes ago.
Yeah, I remember.
I still remember it.
You might be surprised that my memory doesn't go that far back.
Oh, you know, it's the most injured running back on football.
What are you doing?
And then you drive Fred Warner and you're like, all right, we're going to go to break.
We're out of here.
Keep the show moving.
Convenient.
Stay with us.
As this draft rolls on, we'll reset the scene and continue.
Plenty of spots still available.

Bo, Fran, and E.J.
I've got my target and I'm a little anxious that you're going to take them.
I'm between two guys.
Opposite size of the ball.
Okay.
And this is one where I am trying to take advantage of
a blue chip caliber player on a team that otherwise doesn't have many.
This is a position that all three of us still need to fill.
This is one on the offensive side.
of the ball.
Okay.
I don't think that this is who you are.
No.
Pining for.
All of the drama has been leading up to this,
the fireworks of the selection of Chris Lindstrom.
Right guard from the Atlanta Falcons.
Leave it to you to pick a Steve Adazio protege.
That's my guy.
That's fair.
Adazio's your guy?
Just to be clear.
I think everybody who has ever watched this show knows exactly how I feel.
That's David Doge.
You and need both.
Maybe rest and piss.
All right, good pick.
I was a little worried that you were going to go for a guy that I was looking at at a high-impact position,
not necessarily a pre-bit position, but a guy that I think will make an impact for a team that just does not have many impact players.
Give me Arizona Cardinal safety, Buda Baker.
I will take Buda here.
I already took my third member of my secondary.
Okay.
All right.
I am going to focus on pass rush here.
And now I'm starting to look at my...
Very interesting, E.J.
You have not drafted anybody from, as far as I can tell,
any of the first 10 teams alphabetically in the NFL.
I think this is what he's gone for.
You know what sucks is that you did that and you bought me some time
and I was so confused as to what you were about to say.
I didn't think about my picket.
Arizona, Atlanta, Baltimore, Baltimore, Buffalo, Carolina,
Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dallas, and Denver.
Wow.
Amazing.
Oh, man.
Okay.
I'm going to take a cowboy off the board here.
And I'm going to...
I'm sorry, have we flashed up to graphics yet, Lindsay?
Okay.
Yeah, keep buying me some time.
All right, let's give E.J. a break here.
I don't need a break.
I just need time to think.
And what's the difference?
Fran Vamps for like three minutes every time he has a pick.
And I'm offering you.
And I'm offering you and out here.
Okay.
See, what I vamp, it's with a purpose.
You're just sitting there fidgeting.
No, I'm literally looking at my board.
So for my team so far, we got Patrick Malhombs, Jamar Chayette, McBride,
Penae Sewell, Tyler Smith.
I just drafted Chris Lindstrom.
I already know who my right tackle is going to be.
Miles Garrett, Jeffrey Simmons, Patrick Sertan,
Kyle Hamilton, and Quinn Jan Mitchell.
Fran, Josh Allen, Hookanakua, C.D. Lamb,
Brock Bowers, Tristan, Worf, Joe Alt, E.J. Watt,
Will Anderson, Sauce Gardner,
Christian Gonzalez and Ben Johnson and Buda Baker.
Buda.
EJ.
As we await his next two selections, he's got Sean McVeigh,
leading a class of Christian McCaffrey, Justin Jefferson, Jackson Smith, and Jigba,
Laramie Tunsell, Peter Skoronsky, Tyler Linderbaum, Lane Johnson, Micah Parsons, Aden, Hutchinson, and Derek Stingley.
Okay, thank you for all the time.
I am going to go with Quinn and Williams as a defensive tackle.
Again, looking at my ideal team,
Quina Williams would have been on there
because I didn't love a lot of the other options
on the Cowboys roster.
Interesting.
Especially as I was trying to fill out the defensive side.
And then I'm going to play a little bit of defense here,
specifically with another roster.
I don't really, I don't want to get involved with the roster,
and I don't love the organization as a whole.
I'm going to really supercharge my receiving corps here with Malik neighbors.
Okay.
See what he looks like this here.
It also allows me to keep JSN
flexible. He can play on the slide. He can play on the outside.
Him and neighbors and Jefferson.
All pretty interchangeable there.
The Giants are an interesting one because
probably their best player is Andrew Thomas,
and you would think that that would be a guy that we would all want,
but we've all already got left tackles.
Yep.
All right, E.J. taking...
Neighbors. Neighbors gone. Okay.
I think I know where we're going here.
So E.J. taking Dallas means
that he took the ninth team alphabetically.
So he broke the streak of the time.
top 10, but the top eight still unpicked.
So you did them alphabetical when you like listing them all?
Yes.
I do them like by division.
Yeah.
Just to try and see if I can recite all 32.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
This is more about having the other column where I can just check them off.
Makes sense.
I'm going to go with his former teammate, he being Malik neighbors.
I'm going to go with Cincinnati Bengals' defensive tackle, Dexter Lawrence.
That's a good one.
here in this spot.
Yeah, I didn't have any blue players left for Cincinnati based off of the other positions
I've taken.
So give me Dexter Lawrence here.
Well, you let him fall right into my lap.
The other guy that I was considering before.
Oh, yeah.
And you want to talk about an impact defensive tackle.
A team that otherwise is not that stacked.
I want to talk about one of the foundational building blocks in the NFL.
Thomas Booker.
A player who, you could make a case for drafting this person in the first or second round.
A great player in the prime of his career.
Give me the great Derek Brown.
Nice.
Well done.
Wasn't he like the third pick last year?
No, I don't remember exactly.
Zach, remind us.
Great to have on my team.
If Zach's so watching, he might have gotten sick.
This might have been like PTSD.
deeper.
He's like,
this cuts too close to home.
I'm out.
And then,
and I already took that position.
Okay.
You took Gonzalez.
I guess he could.
I am going to,
yeah,
I'm going to do it.
Okay.
You've talked about
the building blocks
of a dynamic
and flexible secondary.
I've already got Sartan and Quentinianney
on Mitchell. I've got Kyle Hamilton.
Liza Riley?
Well, the guy who you love
even more than I love Eliza Riley.
Oh. Give me
Nikki Minwary. Yeah.
I like that. Good one.
Good one.
Now, where are you playing him?
Right now he's at safety, but I think I can.
You can if you want, yes.
I just want to make sure. So you're going to put him in safety for now.
Okay, good pick.
And I like having that, I like having that flexibility here.
Also gives me Seattle, okay?
All right, so I'm actually glad you did that
because that gives me a lot of flexibility for down the road, man,
I can.
You got a lot of options with those teams, yeah.
All right, so I'm going to keep picking here from teams
that don't really have a lot else going on.
I don't think,
As far as I can tell, there are three, four,
there are four teams remaining that have not had a single player selected.
Yeah, then they're going to be, they're going to be waiting a while, I think.
To me, oh man, yeah, the blue chips really, yeah, they dry up fast.
Really dried up quickly here.
I do that, then I'm locked in there.
I can't get those two.
You know what?
All right, got fewer.
Seven green.
You know what?
I'm just going to do it.
I'm going to take my third edge rusher here.
This guy's too good.
Nick Benito.
He's lightning off the edge.
He's my third edge rusher.
So that means that I can no longer take a,
a flex spot, but that's a perfect spot for him.
You actually could still take another.
Could I?
I mean, I get another detackle.
You get another de tackle, but there's also a defensive flex position that you could.
I took T.J. Watt, Will Anderson and you get five defensive linemen.
There's a DL5 spot also.
Right.
Oh, there's.
And then there's an extra flex.
There's an extra defensive player.
Oh, man, I'm short of fat.
There's 13 players on defense.
Oh, I missed to miss that.
That can be any kind of defensive players.
All right.
So that means, so there's another defensive flex spot.
Yeah.
Okay.
So I'll leave that there then.
Thank you.
You guys both drafted off the Broncos already, correct?
Yes.
Good news for me.
Yeah, good team.
Yeah.
All right.
With the first pick here, again, just trying to find, like, real difference makers.
I'm going to add Trey McBride from the Cardinals.
He drafted him a long time ago.
You did?
Yep.
Are you serious?
Yes.
I mean, I made it this far.
It was right around when you took Chris McCaffrey.
Yeah, that's one.
and I spoke coming out of my ears.
All right.
Sorry.
J.C. Horn.
From the Panthers.
Gonna make sure I've got two man coverage corners.
Yep.
Really leverage that.
And you,
that's the second Panther, right?
Yes.
Yes.
All right.
You're telling me.
Now E.J. has still the first four alphabetical teams remaining.
So you're,
number five.
Sorry.
So you're telling me there, there's, there's two edge rushers.
Two defensive tackles and then a fifth defensive lineman and then a flex.
And then a flex that could be any defensive position.
Could be a, could be a linebacker, could be a defensive lineman, could be a secondary player.
That's a big number there.
Okay.
Good.
Okay.
I am going to, I'm going to go with, since I have two corners that I feel good about,
feel slightly better about, no, you know what?
Okay.
I'm going to go with Milton Williams.
off the Patriots roster.
Okay.
That's Micah Parsons,
Quinn and William's, Milton Williams,
and Aden Hutchins up front for me.
Wanted that to be a strength,
and that solidifies it
on a team that, you know,
we are starting to pick at here.
Okay.
I've got a good amount of positions
that are essentially locked in for me now
that I don't need to use a pick on.
I know my wide receiver,
I know one of my wide receivers,
I know my right tackle,
I know one of my edge rushers.
I'm going to do a bit of a silly one to start here
Not that silly, but
Oh, it's France turn.
Yeah, you're right.
Thank you, Lindsay.
Um, hmm.
So just so the listeners know,
the teams that have, none of us have selected from yet,
the New York Jets,
the New Orleans Saints,
the Miami Dolpherson,
and the Cleveland Browns.
I texted Fran about the Dolphins roster
and disbelief last night.
It is utter...
Dyer.
Dyer stuff.
Yeah.
I am going to go...
Too early for this player?
Not really much else to work with.
I'm not going to be taking that position.
I apologize.
There's a 15.
The Jacksonville Jaguars.
Yep.
Which was another one that was...
And that's one of the big takeaways.
And in the Fowler exercise,
the Saints,
the Jaguars, the two teams that didn't have a single player in the top 10 in any position.
Yeah, I believe it.
Looking at the Jaguars roster, it's like shocking how, yeah, how just thin they are.
They don't, they just don't have a lot of top-end talent.
Make sure I'm right there.
Yeah, okay.
I'm going to go off the board a little bit here.
This is going to be a surprising.
I'm going to take last year's defensive rookie of the year.
I'm going to take Cleveland Brown's linebacker.
Really?
I'm so glad I'm doing this.
I'm going to take Carson Swettinger.
A team that obviously does not have a ton of.
a talent top end. There's some interesting
players, but I've kind of blocked myself
out at a couple of those positions.
So if I was going to end up with a Brown
that was going to be an impact player,
it was going to be Schweringer.
Yeah, I'm happy with this choice,
especially knowing that you were just about to scoop them up.
Okay.
Well, that was going to be my pick
of the next one of the next two.
I don't know, don't need to use that.
I guess I could do that.
I want to find
real impact guys
and I know exactly what I'm going to do
I'm going to
I'm actually surprised that he's still on the board
and I'm thrilled to have him here
and this means that I can move Nicky Minowry to
nickel I'm taking Derwin James
with my first pick
I feel very good about that
that's and Derwin James good combo
Kyle Hamilton Durman James and Nicky
in Worry with Sir Tann and Quinyon Mitchell.
Woo.
Making me.
Make me blush.
Yeah, I only had three blues for the Chargers.
I took Joe all.
Yes, you took all.
Darwin was the other.
Safety yet, so.
Yeah, and I had one other.
Okay, feel good about that.
And then,
who do you,
I got to figure out who you guys don't need,
or do need.
Fran,
you
they have so many good players
but of the positions that we both need
I feel pretty good about this
I'm gonna I'm gonna use my
my Lions pick
on Eam and Ross and Brown
okay
you already used Lions pick you took
Penny Sewell you're right I missed that
I missed that deletion I apologize
thank you
welcome I thought that that was wrong
I had that highlighted
that was like her at Lions
I'm not going to say anything.
All right.
Then give me...
This is tough.
I guess we need a break.
We do.
We need a break right now.
We've got to go over a last break.
Stay tuned.
Long way to go.

All right, back on the PHABago's podcast.
I have one blue-chip defensive lineman.
Now that you've gotten a break to identify him.
Yeah, that's fine, as if you've never gotten that.
one blue chip defensive lineman left at a spot where somebody else could take him.
Actually, that's not true.
You've both taken Texans.
You need another break?
Never mind.
Yeah, you need another break.
Lindsay, can we see the teams?
You did get this last time.
No, I am just keeping the same energy that he had when I needed a break.
You know I don't care.
I have no problem with the way that you're treating this.
I think that's totally fair.
Um, yikes.
That's a good looking team.
Why don't you read it for the audio listeners?
Oh, yeah.
All right.
Next time it's up, I'll read it.
I can't.
The championship team is currently up on the screen.
That is mine.
Josh Allen, Pooka, Kua, C.D. Lamb, Brock Bowers, Tristan Worf's.
T.J. Watt, Dexter Lawrence, Will Anderson, Nick Benito, Carson, Suesinger,
sauce Gardner, Buda Baker, Christian Gonzalez, mentioned Joe Alt and Ben Johnson.
Mm.
Ben Johnson.
I mean, he's no Sean McVeigh, but he's all right.
He's decent.
Aspiring to be a Super Bowl winning head coach one day,
like Sean McVeigh, the offensive mind.
Behind my team, which is Christian McCaffrey, Justin Jefferson,
Malikina, Neighbors, and Jackson Smith & Jigba.
Wow, what are receiving corps.
But we're strong up front too.
We got Laramie Tunsell, Pete Skoronski, Tyler Linderbaum.
We have a big addition coming at right guard.
We're not going to talk about that right now.
Lane Johnson, Micah Parsons,
Quinn and Williams, Milton Williams,
Aden Hutchinson up front.
And we got Derek Stingley, Jr.
I have another corner too, don't I?
No, I don't, actually.
And I have Sean McVeigh as a head coach.
No, I do have.
I've got J.C. Horn.
You're done?
I'm done.
I mean, that's literally my entire team.
Oh, you ready?
I kind of like picking second.
I like only having to make one pick at a time.
I don't like that I have to play against both of you
because I have to have an understanding of who both of you have,
depending on which turn I'm going into.
I will say, though, it is anxious when I'm sitting here
and what you guys are stewing for a pick,
knowing who I'm going to take,
and just hoping that you don't, you don't settle on the same guy.
Yeah, it's tough.
Boy, it was the way worth it.
There go.
I'm taking Graham Barton as my starting center
from the Tampa Bay of Bucks.
You couldn't leave this without a buck's offensive lineman.
That's right.
Graham Barton.
I'm happy with that, but.
He's a good play.
He's a good player.
I wish you didn't take so long.
That's okay.
Super chat from Go Birds.
EJ to counterpoint on your Yamal debate from yesterday.
You could have said the exact same thing about Mbapai after the 2018 woke up.
That's literally what I said to EJ before the show started today.
Thank you, Goberts.
Has Mbapai won the Euro?
Did I not know?
What do you mean?
Oh, the Euro.
Who cares about that?
But he was the more important to that team than Yama was to this team.
Yeah, but Yamaul won a euro as the best player on Spain.
Again, again, I don't.
This draft is going to take a long time.
You watch the World Cup and that's how you form your soccer opinions and that's fine.
I feel fine.
I feel great about the argument.
I may have heard in between now and the show yesterday that I have never been more right than I was about the EMAL debate.
I got the run going on head coach.
I will get the run going on defensive coordinator here.
I'm going to take my lone remaining blue chip person from the Minnesota Vikings.
Give me Brian Flores.
Here is my defense coordinator.
I like that.
The amount of man coverage I can play with sauce and Christian Gonzalez.
I got Buda Baker back there to match up.
I'm excited by this.
All right.
I...
What teams do you have that you haven't drafted yet?
I'm missing one of yours.
Kansas City, Baltimore, the Giants, Packers, Falcons.
We have different ordering, so it's not going to work.
Yeah, right.
That's fine.
Okay.
I'm going to start...
What am I going to start around, but I'm going to continue to add to my pass rush.
I'm going to take my fifth defensive linemen here, and it's going to be Jared verse.
from the Browns.
Okay.
And then with my next pick,
I am going to add
what I am hoping
will be a versatile enough
secondary on the back end behind.
I got J.C. Horn and Derek Stingley.
I want to make sure that I've got
some flexibility
and who can play in the nickel,
so I'm going to draft Minka Fitzpatrick off the deck.
Ah, I thought about him at one point.
I'm on a bad pick.
I think they're both great picks.
Put him at safety or nickel right now.
You can put him at safety for now.
We'll see where I end up with.
I think you want to keep him at safety.
in 2026.
I'm gonna say he's actually older than messy.
The current greatest player of all time
because I didn't say that Yemal is the greatest player
of all time. I said he has a chance to be.
And also like Mbapé could also have a chance to be.
Like, well no, sorry, Mbapé,
maybe he still could, but yeah.
I bought you enough time talking about soccer.
Man, I don't have too many blues left.
You know what?
I'm gonna take them.
Oh wait, I don't need to yet.
Yeah, so many of the positions,
the picks that I want to make,
I can just pencil them in
because either you guys have taken that position
or that you haven't taken the team.
Yep.
All right, so I can wait there.
I'm happy about that.
No, I'm not gonna do that yet.
Man.
Okay, let's go with, man, that's a,
that's a rough team.
Um, none of us have taken a Washington commander, right?
I took Tunsel.
You took Tunsel.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's right.
It took Tunsel.
It's probably too early to take that guy, though.
I'm not going to rush.
I'm definitely not taking that guy yet.
Yeah, it's just, see, this slim pickings now that we get to this point in terms of guys you feel really good about selecting.
Um, I am going to take, no, I'm not going to give me really just chalking that up to you.
All right.
I'll just do it.
Give me Tray Smith at Wright Garden.
Find out who else.
Big, powerful baller.
Fits the Ben Johnson scheme perfectly.
Give me Tray Smith.
Find out who I'm going to take in.
Messy tough.
We got a lot of mess still to come here.
All right.
I mean, it should go quick once we get through.
Yes, correct.
Sort of.
All right.
I guess.
Do you have access to the spreadsheet where you can see who drafted?
Who are you looking for?
I'm just wondering which teams, like, you guys have both picked that already.
I'll help you there.
Yeah, I mean, I have that, but.
I'm just asking if it was a community thing.
Look, because it includes my board.
I don't know.
I'm not asking you for it.
I was just asking if it was something.
All right.
I am going to draft one of the few.
draftable Miami Dolphins.
Jordan Brooks is going to join
Fred Warner.
Head linebacker for me.
Hey,
and handsomely today.
Yes,
right?
Yeah.
Very exciting stuff for all of us.
Just,
I mean,
on the team.
Huge news.
And then,
nope,
we've already used that.
I promise it will.
The puzzle pieces here.
The pieces are all starting to,
I mean,
should we do the thing
where, like, if I know,
for instance,
we are in a clear now,
yeah.
For instance, not use a pick on this, but just fill it in in the sense of you guys, Chicago, E.J. can draft one, but he doesn't have right tackle open.
So darn all right, it's going to be my right tackle.
But should I use a pick there, or can we?
I was going to say, why don't we do?
Maybe we should clear it out.
Yeah, I think that'd be helpful.
Not a whole thing, because I've got a few where I'm like, I could go here or here at this team and that position.
I'm going to clear a couple things out.
Okay.
That are not picks, but they're going to just make this easier.
Okay.
Yeah.
So feel free at any point to do this.
Okay.
And also feel free to object if you think there is a possibility otherwise.
Okay. Okay.
Darn all right is going to be my right tackle because E.J. has drafted both of his tackles and you have drafted the Cleveland or the Bears.
So that is done.
A.J. Brown is going to be one of my wide receivers.
Okay.
Because you guys have both drafted Patriots.
Max Crosby is going to be one of my.
Because you guys have both drafted poor Lindsay the Raiders.
Yep.
Okay, that helps clear that out.
And then DeNeil Hunter is going to be my DL5 because you guys have both drafted the Houston Texans.
Yep.
Okay, so that clears things out for me.
And then I will, and feel free to do that same exercise at any point of yourselves.
It's harder for me to know where I need to do that.
Yeah.
I'll just keep going until.
I am going to...
Oh, wait, I can give you two.
I'll give you two.
Go ahead.
And then I'll give you two
so I can buy Frantime.
Go ahead if you want to do it.
You guys have both taken
offensive, or you guys have both taken Broncos.
So I'm going to take Quinn Miners there.
Perfect.
Good pick.
Good pick.
That's a very nice one for you.
Yeah.
And then you guys have also already taken
Colts.
So I'm going to take Tyler Warren at tight end.
I have not.
taking a cult, but I'm, but, but, don't take my war.
I could theoretically drafted.
Yeah, right.
Yes, you could.
But that's fine.
I'm not going to argue with that.
Quentin Nelson didn't get drafted?
No.
No.
I thought about it, but yeah, I went elsewhere.
Okay.
I then.
So you did take Warren?
Yeah, it can be one of my picks when it comes back to me.
I apologize for jumping the gun there.
Um, okay.
Have AJ Brown.
you know what i'm going to uh uh sorry you why don't i do a couple clears here okay go ahead
all right um for my past catcher flex i'm going to take a second tight end and i'm going to take
george kittle a pair of brockbowers um and i am also since you guys have both taken centers
I'm going to take Aaron Brewer from the Miami Dolphins.
Yeah.
You guys both taking Chiefs yet?
Yeah, he just took his second one.
So you have?
I have.
I have.
All right, I'll take Nick Bolton.
I don't have any line back.
Aaron Brewer, Nick Bolton.
And then for my defensive flex,
I am going to take Jalen Phillips from the Panthers.
you guys have both taken Panthers.
You still have a defensive tackle open.
Am I right?
Correct.
You both have taken charges, correct?
Yes.
Yes.
O.C., I'm going to go Mike McDaniel.
That was my only blue chip
offensive coordinator on the board.
That's a good one.
The only reason I didn't,
that I was okay with losing him
was that I took Ben Johnson.
Yeah.
So you have a play caller?
I had a play caller.
That's why I took Joe Alt over Mike McDaniel.
Think about the math I did.
McVeigh is the head coach
in the play caller with Mike.
Mike McDaniel is just the run game coordinator with my offensive line.
That's a fun exercise right there.
That's fun.
That's awesome.
Think about the concepts.
You know it gets you excited.
You can't even hide it.
You're like, yeah, that would be pretty awesome.
All right.
This is kind of a silly.
It's not that silly.
It's fine.
I'm taking D.K. Medcaf.
Okay.
So that.
Okay.
Gotcha.
All right.
All right.
Do you want me to read the teams?
Yeah, let's read the, let's do it.
Let's do a, yeah, let's do it.
Okay.
I have you, Fran, with still a falcon, a raven, a lion, a packer, a jaguar, saints, giants,
eagles, Seahawks, Titans, commanders.
Did I miss one?
I think I might have missed one.
It's tough because I'm out of order.
E.J., I have you with Cardinals, Falcons, Ravens, Bills, Bears, Bears,
Bengals, Colts, Jags, Dolphins, Saints, Steelers, Bucks.
Yeah, yep, totally right.
Can I make a pick here?
Yeah, go ahead.
For my running back, I'm going to take Bejohn Robinson here from Atlanta.
I would take my first Falcon, or my only Falcon.
Okay.
Oh, man.
All right.
I can just, I have a bunch of clears.
Can you give me the teams that are up for grabs again?
Like the teams where it would actually benefit me to make a pick
Instead of just clearing?
To make a pick?
Yeah.
Ravens, you and Fran both have.
Bills, you and I both have.
Jags, all three of us have.
Saints all three of us have.
That's it.
I didn't take a saint.
Oh, to take me.
Sorry, sorry, sorry.
Sorry.
Yep.
Oh, man.
I don't love this pairing of D.C. and secondary,
but I'm going to take a leap of faith and go with Brandon Staley as my D.C.
To get my Saints pick off the board.
You know, his own heavy defensive coordinator with J.C. Horn and Minka Fitzpatrick and Derek Stingley.
It's really coming together.
Yeah.
But, you know, he's a, maybe, I think.
I think at the very least he's gonna be a good defensive coordinator there.
Oh man.
All right, you said, you didn't say Falcons.
You said Bill's up for grabs still?
Mm-hmm.
Mm.
Can I give you some clears to buy myself some time?
Sure.
I...
Wait, Steelers?
Steelers up for grabs.
Steelers are not up for grabs.
Jalen Ramsey is gonna be one of my safeties.
Okay.
Some versatility, you know, pair him back up
with Brandon Staley.
I think that that would be...
Your safety dough would be really, really good in, like, 2019.
I mean, they're still versatile and still really good.
I can't remember if the bears are already done,
but give me Colston Loveland as another tight end.
Okay.
I hope that that was actually a pick and not a clear.
It's okay.
Is it clear?
It was a clear.
All right.
It's fine.
It's fine.
Yeah, we're in basically clear.
I'll give you another clear.
So wait.
So you took Warren and Colston Loveland.
Mm-hmm. Okay, got it.
Oh, yeah, because Warren was one of my picks.
So there you go.
Lamar Jackson's going to be my quarterback.
Okay.
We are getting right down to it now.
Yeah, we're like, we're basically there.
Backup quarterbacks.
Yeah, we're basically there.
In stadiums.
Yep.
Do you want to just here, I'll tell you the teams if you want.
For me.
Do you want to tell us who your Raven's going to be?
Do you know that yet or it's still not?
No, I can do my Raven.
I will take Eric Dacosta as my GM.
Okay.
Because, you know, if I make a trade they don't like, I could just back out of it.
There you go.
Do you know who your lion is going to be?
Yes.
I'm going to take Jack Campbell as my lion.
Okay.
You have the monsters of the mayo.
We'll be my line backing court.
That's good.
You know who your Philadelphia Football Eagle is going to be.
Still undecided there because them in Seattle, I'm going back and forth.
And then Tennessee is the other one that nobody else has.
Correct.
Hmm.
Wait, I didn't draft somebody from Tennessee?
I did, didn't I?
I got Scranti.
Tennessee is the one.
Scaran?
Oh, I forgot.
Oh, so I am.
Okay.
That.
Ugh.
You know what?
Yeah, I am going to do that.
Josh Allen played great football under this guy.
Give me Brian Dable is my O.C.
Hmm.
Compensive.
I got to take an O.C.
Okay.
I got to take a Titan, rather.
Boating staff of all guys whose name starts with B.
what i was going for um i feel really good that i'm winning this exercise by the way
no one it's funny to say that um all right so for an actual pick here for me
i have any blues left on the board no so i have i have hmm
I can't do that.
I can't do that.
All right.
Give me,
hmm,
yeah.
I'm going to take Javan Holland
from the Giants
as a safety.
Peributa Baker.
You think you're winning the exercise?
Yeah, I do.
I do.
Okay.
I think it's up.
I think it's to you now.
That's to me.
I was about to say.
I really hope it's well.
All right.
Picks-wise,
I am taking
What jet do I want?
GM, Brick, whatever his face is.
Rick Johnson?
Do I want
Breeze Hall?
Or do I want Jonathan Taylor?
I already...
I took a cult?
What cult did I take?
I don't think I took a cult,
but I haven't deleted.
You took...
I don't think I took a cult.
I don't think you did either.
Oh, I don't have you.
I was with it.
Nobody took Quentin Nesson.
Yeah.
Let me put that in.
Taking your boy, psycho.
Stiko.
Actually, I got a good selection of head coaches to choose from.
You don't know, Sean McGh, but, you know.
Can I give you a clear?
I got two clears.
Go ahead.
I'm going to take Cooper DeGine to be my nickel.
Like that.
And I'm going to take Seahawks defensive tackle, Byron Murphy.
It was my defensive tackle.
I was basically, I was trying to decide do I want Devin Witherspoon and Jalen
Carter or do I want Cooper de Gene and Byron Murphy?
And instead of Leonard Williams as well.
Correct. That is true too.
Okay. I love Byron Murphy.
I like Barron Murphy too.
All right.
Okay, I could do that.
You know what? In terms of picks,
I'm going to draft
Washington Commander's backup quarterback
Marcus Marriota.
You've always loved Marioo.
I love the guy.
One of the best
EPA per dropbacks in the NFL over the past two years.
I'm in Tanner McKee.
And pick wise, give me,
I know, you've both drafted.
You both have drafted your entire coaching staffs.
All right.
I'm going to take the best stadium on the board, baby.
Give me the Superdome.
Nice.
That's a good pick.
You haven't taken your running back yet.
Correct.
Is it to make?
It's to you.
I will take Lambo Field.
That's fun.
Rambo.
Yep.
All right.
That's nice.
It doesn't say a lot about the Packers, though.
I mean, Lambo.
I got blocked out at a couple spots.
Tucker Kraft was the other blue chip player I had for the Packers.
Have you guys both drafted bucks?
Yes.
You have?
Yes.
Yes.
I want Vita Vea as my defensive flex.
Okay.
You may have noticed that I don't have a linebacker.
Well, you have Nick Bolton, but you're missing a line.
Yeah, I'm missing a second linebacker.
And I got to be honest, the picking is are slim, so I'm going to take my Falcons pick and go with Divine Diablo.
Wow.
Hoover, Cade Nellis.
Yes.
I thought you're about to say it actually like, you know, pro bowl or all pro player.
I'm like, I've been looking for like 10 minutes, Rand.
I'll take my saint here.
I'll take David Edwards, left guard.
Who?
You just signed a big money deal from the bills.
Was really good for the bills.
Protecting Josh Allen, by the way.
So some synergy.
Give me David Edwards.
Left guard for the Saints.
Okay.
I have you with just three spots remaining, right?
That's what I've got as well.
Wide receiver, backup quarterback, and owner.
And you've got Jaguars, Jets, commanders?
Bad receiver, backup quarterback, and owner.
Yep.
Okay.
All right.
Well, that actually helps me figure out who I'm going to draft.
I'm going to draft Garrett Wilson as my final offensive weapon.
And then I haven't done Green Bay, right?
Yeah.
This has gone so long.
That's like a super cut of just dust the pit.
Poor Lindsay.
She's got the plague from listening to us for so long.
I'm going to draft.
This is going to, this is going to.
No.
I don't need to do that.
I'm going to draft
Jaguar's defensive coordinator
Anthony Campanili.
Okay.
You took,
you've taken away,
yeah,
you just took Quo Commander.
Okay,
so I'm going to do a clear here.
Yeah,
I think you can,
I think you can finish.
You've got three spots left.
Terry McLaren as my wide receiver three.
Okay.
I can,
yeah,
I got to do it.
I got to do shotgun at,
you got to do shotgun at,
uh,
at owner.
And my QB2.
Let's do it.
Kate Klubnick is my Qat
Me too.
Wow.
That's who some analysts have compared to Matthew Stafford.
That's in poor taste.
It's a poor taste.
I think you can finish, E.J., if you want.
I don't know that we're going to have.
I'm not sure I can.
I'm going to take the Dolphin Stadium.
Okay.
Hard rock.
Yeah, hard rock.
A little weather advantage for me there.
From there.
I have you.
you as you need backup quarterback, nickel, owner, and GM.
Yeah.
But I'm missing one of the teams because I have Arizona, Buffalo, Cincinnati,
Indianapolis, and Jacksonville.
Which one have you actually used?
I took Indianapolis.
I took Tyler Warren.
That's right.
Okay.
So I got Jags, Bengals, Bills, and Cardinals.
I'm going to take Gardner Minshu as my backup quarterback.
Nice.
And I'm going to hope that you can go back to Fran and help me.
Ray is done.
But that's okay.
Yeah, I got to figure out a line.
I've got running backer and a nickel.
All right.
I've got running back, head coach, OC, owner, and GM.
Five spots, one.
Oh, and defensive flex.
Okay, so I have six spots.
I've got Buffalo, Cleveland, Green Bay, Indianapolis, Minnesota, and the Giants.
I'm going to make Matt LaFleur my head coach for sure.
So good about that.
And that also solves for, he's basically the OC.
I guess I could have done Minnesota as the stadium.
I will make...
Great memories there.
I'm going to go James Cook or Jonathan Taylor.
I'm going to go...
Well, I guess who's the best defensive player on the board on those teams?
Go Ed Oliver.
Go Denzel Ward.
Boris Buckner.
Brian Burns.
Abdul Carter, Iron Murphy.
I'm gonna, I'm gonna go Abdul Carter.
I feel like that's a fun one to bet on.
Then that means I'm gonna go James Cook
as my running back.
I'm gonna go, who are the OCs here?
Oh, the great West Phillips could go there.
Who's the cult O.C. behind Psycho.
Chimbao.
Oh, I can't call Jim Bob.
Can't do that.
Very fitting.
Give me West Phillips.
It feels like a nice marriage of schemes.
Hey, what's Jim Bob Cooter's
full government?
Wormbe Overtime.
James Robber Vagana.
That means that
Lady Ursay is my owner.
That's a good owner.
And Adam Berry is my GM.
That's a pretty good honor, though.
That actually is a pretty good.
I feel good about that.
It's a good final closure there.
Oh, man.
Could I put,
Can I have DJ Turner?
Can I sneak them into my secondary?
Somebody's got to play the nickel
between J.C. Horn, Derek Stingley,
and DJ, or not DJ Turner.
Yeah, no, DJ Turner.
Okay, no, DJ Turner.
Yeah, so the Bengals.
What do you think?
I think in the interest of time?
Speeding.
Okay.
Linebacker's been talking to me.
You can't, you're done now because you have owner and GM left,
but you've got Jags, and he's already got Shad Khan.
So you've got, you guys,
I'm taking the Pagulas.
You get the Pagulas?
Yeah.
And then you got the guy who invented football as your GM.
I actually don't know who that is.
I apologize.
Is for the Jaguars?
Jaguars.
James Gladstone, yeah.
I mean, it's one of here.
He can't, he can't screw this up.
All right.
Wow.
Man.
Was that riveting or what?
It was.
It's just, you know, at the end, it's tough.
Yes.
The end is tough.
I'll let Lindsay do her magic to grab us.
We can all gather our thoughts and come back in a couple of minutes
after we check out this lovely video.
Your reward for sticking with us through the end of this entire draft
is a little trip around the city with the great E.J. Smith.
Hello, everybody.
As part of City State Week, I wanted to do a little bit of like a tourism guide
and pick out one thing that if you're a listener from out of town
and you're coming into Philadelphia,
I actually think one thing that totally lives up to the hype
One of the touristy things you can do is the Museum of Art.
And I actually wanted to do the first part of this as a walk-and-talk
because I just want you to see, like, it's such a beautiful area of Philadelphia.
You know, if you're intimidated by, like, parking, it's not hard to find parking down here.
And generally, like I said, I feel like you get a really good feel for Philadelphia
and kind of how beautiful it can be here.
So, you know, we're not at the art museum yet, but you can see just like, you know, how picturesque it is.
You know, this is just a nice summer afternoon in Philadelphia.
And, you know, obviously we're kind of coming off of the World Cup, which, you know, a lot of people were in town for.
But I also feel like if you're an Eagles fan, you know, this is not the busiest area that you get to.
It's busy, but not crazy this time of day.
And, you know, the things that you can kind of like reminisce about from an Eagles perspective if you're here.
Obviously, you know, Jason Kelsey's famous Super Bowl speech, Super Bowl parade speech was here.
You know, and obviously we're coming off two years ago, the Eagles being here again with a lot of famous speeches as well.
So, you know, it's more than just the Rocky Steps.
You know, there's a lot of Eagles history that's happened here.
again, like Jason Kelsey's speech is part of Eagles History Forever.
Really just maybe Philadelphia sports and sports history in general.
So, and again, you know, you kind of have just gone with me on a walk here.
And, you know, we've officially arrived.
But even if you're not coming for the Rocky statue or the steps,
just to kind of appreciate the surrounding area and think about what it would mean
or what it would look like and what it would feel like.
Everything behind me right now was just Eagles fans, right?
You know, just like everybody back here as Eagles fans, you know, like it was for both of the Super Bowl parade.
So, yeah, that's going to conclude part one of our city-state review of the Philadelphia area.
You know, perfect timing here as we get to the Rocky, get to the steps here.
Get to the Rocky statue and the steps.
All right.
See you guys soon.
Good stuff, E.J.
Beautiful fun little trip.
Beautiful day yesterday.
Yeah, not a clown.
City State Week.
rolls on.
Fantastic stuff.
All right.
Let's run through
everybody's rosters
and be honest
about what you're proud
about and what you
maybe wish that you had done
differently.
All right, E.J.,
you're going to go first.
Why don't you just tell me
what you think I should have
different?
I feel like you'll have it
covered for the both of us.
Lamar Jackson and Gardner Minchew,
good quarterback room.
I got it.
I thought it was a good job
to wait a quarterback.
Christian McCaffer.
You want to do it?
Or read your offense
and you tell me how you feel.
Okay.
Okay.
Lamar Jackson,
Garder Minchue,
Christian McCaffrey.
Justin Jefferson,
Jackson Smith and Jigba, Maliknaissance,
Colston, Loveland, and Tyler Warren,
and an offensive line of Laramie Tunsell,
Peter Skoronsky, Tyler Linderbaum,
Quinn Miners, and Lane Johnson.
I feel great about my offense.
I went in wanting to have like an all pro caliber
offensive line across the board.
I was surprised that I was able to build out my skill positions
as well as I was with that not being the priority.
So yeah, I feel like that's a group that fits well together.
You can be really, there's a lot,
there's some scheme versatile players.
some guys you can be creative with.
I feel really good about it.
I think it's a good looking offense.
I mean, these are all going to be very good teams.
My tight end room isn't like dynamic.
It's not crazy, but it's still a very solid group.
It's fine.
I think you are right, though, that your focus on the offensive line,
you still did, you know, to get Justin Jefferson and Jackson's bits and jigbit together,
I think that's pretty fancy.
Yeah, and I think I know you're going to poo-poo the idea that a running back could be impactful,
but if you were going to put an impactful running back into an offense like this,
it would be it would be Christian McCaffrey because of what he can do in the past game.
My critique would be I do, I agreed with your assessment of trying to invest the office line early.
I don't think you got like your bang for your buck.
I agree with that.
I think that's fair.
I don't know that your office line is like overwhelmingly dominant.
It's more about not having weak links on it.
But I get what you're saying.
Like if Skoronski and Tunsell are your left side, like that's a strong left side, strong side.
But it's not like, you know, it's not Sewell.
I agree with that.
Yeah, okay.
I think that's fair,
but it's still a great,
it's still a great front.
It's a really good front.
I mean,
yeah.
Well,
should we do this more
comparing by positions?
Okay.
Yeah.
Yeah.
All right.
Lamar Jackson and Gardner Minchu,
Josh Allen and Kade Klubnick,
Patrick Mahomes and Marcus Mariotta.
You know,
it's,
you like what you like,
but I would vote for mine,
but that's fine.
Well,
my critique is that I got my quarterbacks
at the very end of the draft.
Yeah.
One of those are going to,
yeah.
It's a very,
it's all close,
you know.
I don't know. That's why I didn't want to take my pick there.
So McCaffrey, let's just, the whole skill group.
McCaffrey, Jefferson, J.S.N., neighbors, Loveland and Warren.
Bejohn, Puka, C.D. Lamb, Terry McLorin, Brock Bowers, and George Kittle.
That two tight ends is nice.
And then Jamar Chase, James Cook, A.J. Brown, D.K. Metcalfe, Trey McBride, Garrett Wilson.
I would say
I do regret not getting
another stud receiver
actually probably should have taken
Nico Collins instead of
Daniel Hunter
and then not had DK Medcaf
but otherwise
I feel pretty good
and then yours
Terry McLaurin
what are we doing?
It's my last pick
it's an important position
yeah
we literally are a really good player
I think you could make a case
for any of those groups
and then we know
AJ's offensive law
line. Yours is Worf's, David Edwards, Aaron Brewer,
Trey Smith, Joe Alt, a lot of short names.
Penae Sewell, Tyler Smith, Graham Barton, Chris Lindstrom,
darnall Wright. It's a good front that you put together.
I think your offensive line is actually, like,
it at least competes with mine.
I feel like my receiving trio is the,
I mean, I'm just going to keep pounding the table for my team.
I feel like my receiving trio is the thing that, like,
if you're trying to figure out, like, where are the difference is,
I feel like my receiving trio is where it is.
I mean, I feel really good about my,
the total package of my skill talent.
Yeah, your Bowers-Kittal thing is nice.
The Bowers-Kittal, Pooka, C.D. Lamb, with Bijan.
Like, it's not like I said, I didn't sacrifice there.
I feel very good about my skill.
Yeah, but you conveniently left out Terry McLaren there.
For him to be the final pick.
He's going to be left out of the game plan too.
Yeah, I got two tight ends.
All right.
Defensive fronts, E.J., Aiden Hutchinson,
Quinnon Williams, Milton Williams,
Micah Parsons, Jared Verse,
and Vita Vea, Fran,
Will Anderson, Dexter Lawrence,
Byron Murphy, T.J. Watt, Nick Benito, and Jalen Phillips.
Also a very good group.
Bo. Max Crosby, Jeffrey Simmons,
Derek Brown, Miles Garrett,
Abdul Carter, and Daniel Hunter.
I think I've got the best one,
but we all probably feel that way.
Yeah, I think I have the best one.
And honestly, I think Franz would have been my second pick.
I agree with part of that statement.
I think you're nuts.
Miles Garrett and Max Crosby and Jeffrey Simmons.
Come on.
It's really good.
Who's your defense coordinator?
Anthony Campanilee.
Okay.
I was just,
I was,
I was wondering.
You really,
like,
walked yourself into a trap
when you,
you said that Christian McCaffrey is so injury prone.
Like,
you know,
you can't count on him.
You know,
he's not going to be playing in February.
And then you drafted a bunch of injury prone
defensive players.
Who?
Him,
you said,
you draft.
Max Crosby and Fred Warner.
Max Crosby has played more snaps over the past few years than anybody alive.
He was at the center of a huge controversy about him not passing a physical.
It's just because his GM is a liar.
Nick Bolton, Divine Diablo versus Carson Schwessinger and Jack Campbell versus Fred
Warner and Jordan Brooks.
You have the best player.
I have the best duo.
Maybe.
And then here's where the real difference is.
I do, this is what I'm hanging my hat on.
I do think that I clearly have the best secondary.
E.J. Stingley, D.J. Turner, Minka Fitzpatrick, Jalen Ramsey, J.C. Horn, Fran,
sauce Gardner, Cooper DeGine, Jvon, Bouda Baker, Christian Gonzalez,
Beau, Pat Sertan, Nicar, Michael, Michael, Kyle Hamilton, Derwin, James, Quinion Mitchell.
It's very strong.
Good. Yeah.
Yeah. I like my secondary, too, though.
And then the extras. E.J., McVeigh, McDaniel, Staley.
It's going to be tough.
You're going to have to make sure that there are no mirrors allowed in that entire building
because otherwise they're not going to get any work done.
I mean, basically what you're saying is that they're three of the best at their positions,
respectively.
Well, two of them.
I think Staley is a D.C.
Yeah.
I think he's among the best.
Not the best, but among the best.
Playing in Miami with the Pagulas and James Gladstone.
Brian.

Maybe a couple years from now.
You can have Adam in this draft.
All right.
The synergy for my,
I honestly, I know we like, we joke.
I'm going to make the serious.
We joke all the time about it.
after we do these games and we say like, oh, yeah, my,
this was like 2024 NFC championship, like smothering.
My team is way better than everybody else's.
No way.
I feel very strongly about that.
Well, let's do it this way.
Hit Clubnik.
Each of us has to pick another person's team.
I mean, that is going to, I'm taking Fran's team.
Yeah, so I'm not doing this.
I'm picking Lindsay's team.
Whose team would you take, Fran?
I have to look at it.
I was so focused on my dominance.
I haven't decided which of the other team I like.
Bye.
I think my team.
Let us know in the comments.
Let us know in the comments why you think my team won again.
And what a ride.
What a ride it's been.
I think maybe next year we'll do the thing where we do one team at a time.
I love that idea.
To make it a little bit easier to follow.
Yes.
Whose idea was that?
It was yours.
It was a great idea.
Thanks.
You asked if that was how we do it.
It wasn't your idea.
Right.
It wouldn't be overtime if you're not making a semantics argument.
That's right.
All right.
Hope everybody enjoyed Shorts Day.
Show us yours if we show you ours.
And we'll see you tomorrow at 2 o'clock.
