Happy Friday to all birds fans out there. Welcome in to the Xfinity Studios here at P HLY.
This is the PHLY Eagles podcast. We have, of course, are presented by our friends at TrueMark Financial Credit Union and Dudat Dental.
Rich, it has been a long time, my friend, since we have talked some birds football.
Make sure everybody's tuning in after the game tonight, E.J. and Bo Wolfe are going to be live after the preseason finale here on P.H.L.Y.
Do what that little animation in the corner tells you to do.
And subscribe to the channel if you haven't yet.
How are you?
I'm good, man.
You know, I was just thinking about EJ going up to New Jersey, the swamps of New Jersey for tonight's game.
And that dreaded MetLife turf.
That's real.
That's taking a lot of people out.
Playing a preseason game there is no way no.
One of those cheap asses.
Like, it's in your best interest to have a grass field.
You don't injure your biggest investments.
It's athletes want to play on it more than they want to play on turf.
Like,
it's,
when you have a turf field in this day and age,
the year of our Lord 2025,
like,
come on,
what are you doing?
You could even say that it's not very classy.
You can say that.
Yeah.
If everybody is,
Mr.
Mara, come on,
man.
Let's do it.
Yeah,
no,
I'm,
I'm excited for tonight's game,
but I'm also excited for the preseason to be over.
Yes.
very much so. I think we've talked about this before.
Preseason used to be, there used to be some stuff that would happen.
And, you know, this, this, this, this star, this Eagles roster has had some battles that we have
seen played out during this, uh, during these three preseason games. But it's, it's not
the same as it used to be. Yeah. Yeah. No, it's certainly not. When Tanner McKee is getting
put in bubble wrap, uh, in a week two preseason game to find out if it's Kyle McCord,
uh, of your St. Joe's prep, uh, alma mater or DTR, EJ's guy as,
Bo would famously tell you.
I think that's going to be a big wedge issue between them.
Bo is really hammering the D.R for E.J.
I think he saw his first opportunity to pounce on E.J. for something.
Not a potential.
And he's hammering it there.
But E.J. is standing in his ground.
Do you think a DTR jersey is in E.J's future?
Bo may have already ordered it from D.H.G.
I'm sure.
But on that note, it is the finale of the preseason.
Hallelujah.
Looking forward to the end of it.
not probably as much to watch for specifically tonight,
but a lot of guys are playing for jobs,
not only here, but around the NFL.
You know, you don't always audition just for your team.
You're auditioning for the league.
So you never know what can happen.
Rich, let's get into tonight.
And I guess the biggest question about the Eagles
heading into the season, heading into the finale of the preseason,
is who the hell is going to be cornerback to?
Because this is a weird one.
Dude, I think this has been one of the strangest training camp battles we've ever seen.
And as much as we all talk about the Eagles and we do it every day on this show and this team is exhausted, exhaustively covered by tons of people.
I just think we have not made enough of what a strange competition this has been.
So Adori Jackson, who I think has a chance, like if I had to guess, he will be the cornerback starter in week one.
I think him and Jacorian Bennett, it's close to 50-50.
If you said that Bennett was going to be the starter, I wouldn't argue with you.
We're all sort of just guessing at this point.
But if Adori Jackson wins, somebody who we think actually can win,
he got brought up midway through training camp,
kind of a relatively mild question to Vic Fangio,
just like, hey, Adori's starting to play a little more?
What do you think about him?
And Vic just completely lit him up.
Vic is amazing.
He gave him how he's guy.
I didn't watch any of the tape.
When Howie wants somebody, I guess I just have to take him.
He said that the two teams that have already let go of them,
they basically let go of them for a reason.
And this is the team.
That guy might win the job, Jay.
Yeah, it's, I mean, if I had to,
I guess I'm hoping Bennett wins because of what you just said.
Like I think when other teams send you messages,
if they're good teams and well-run franchises,
you're usually, you kind of take that with a grain of salt.
Like, all right, why are they moving on from this guy?
I don't have much faith in Adori Jackson being a starting caliber
cornerback in this day and age.
So like I'd rather just kind of-
Uncle Vic told us that.
Yeah, I'd rather gamble on the young guy that at least has some starting experience,
has some athleticism, some really good speed.
You kind of saw it on that crossing route in game two, like the closing speed.
he had in breaking up a pass.
I'd rather just roll with Bennett
and take my chance on the athleticism
and the upside rather than roll out a retread
that's probably going to be cooked.
So you mentioned Jacorian Bennett.
Let's back up and the weird circumstances
that he came here.
And real quick,
if you had asked me three months ago,
I would have told you,
without a doubt,
Keely Ringo is the guy.
Absolutely.
We're going to get to him in a sec.
but Jacorian Bennett got traded from a Raiders team
that is not exactly flush with talent in the secondary.
And basically the only explanation for that was
Pete Carroll has a type when it comes to the cornerback position.
He likes long, ranging corners.
But like, let's be honest,
the Las Vegas Raiders are not the Legion of Boom right now.
No, no.
So frankly, the Eagles have more high-end players than them in the secondary.
So he gets traded just for Thomas Booker.
I like Thomas Booker, but come on.
I mean, you know, a fringe player at this point.
A defensive tackle would have made the roster,
but, you know, certainly would not have been getting a ton of snaps on this team.
Would have seen some probably as a depth defensive lineman.
And that player who's been here for a couple of weeks,
if he starts, he is going to join a defense that last year,
the reason they were the best defense in the league was just that suffocating zone coverage
they played on the back end where not only did everybody play at a high level individually,
they played at a super high level collectively,
where they all knew kind of how to pass off the routes to each other,
playing that cover four from Vic Fangio.
We saw it in the Super Bowl on Cooper DeGine's pick six.
So you're telling me this guy who barely knows any of these people,
did not do OTAs or anything,
was not here for the beginning of training camp,
all of those installs.
He might get the job too.
So any of the answers that you get,
they come with some major question marks.
Now, I'm with you.
I think he probably has the physical tools where you just hope,
okay, he'll learn how to play with.
He's playing in a good system and he's got great teammates around him,
whether it be coop in the middle of the field,
potentially great linebacking core.
You know, you got Quignon on the other side.
So like you have decent safety play, at least with Reed.
We'll get to safety two in a minute.
So you hope like, you know, a high tide rises all boats there
and he might benefit from playing in a better defense.
I feel like we'll see what happens with Vic
in terms of Quignon traveling
because that's something that the Eagles have experimented with
in training camp where they have him matched up
against number one receivers.
If that is the case though,
I do wonder if those number two receivers,
the goal is going to be to get
Oh, absolutely.
It's going to be to get cornerback two on the same side
as safety two and maybe like...
And attack the two weeks spots of defense.
Yeah.
So we'll see what happens there.
That would be the danger.
or at least you could put Quinyan on maybe on the same side as safety too.
I don't know.
But it's certainly there are some major question marks.
I do think we can take a step back and say,
look,
this is still a first world problem for a team.
Absolutely.
A lot of teams have question marks up and down the roster.
And we've been talking about this CB2 battle the entire training camp.
But it's a weird one.
It's a weird one.
And if you do subscribe to the weak link theory where,
you know,
if you have 11 pretty good player,
instead of, you know, the Eagles have studs on all three levels of their defense.
They have Jalen Carter.
I mean, he could be the best defensive player in the league for all we know.
Zach Bonn, you know, could he-
He's a defensive player that year finalist last year.
Could he take a step back?
Maybe.
Although Bo and E.J. said he looked phenomenal during his first.
I love to hear that.
Team, uh, teamwork of the summer after dealing with that injury.
By the way, he could take a step back and would still be.
And still be better than any stud.
Any linebacker we've had in a long time.
Just a terrific player.
And by all accounts, you have Quinyan who, I mean, it's my boy.
I'm expecting Revis Island.
I'm expecting, I mean, it's like, they're not even going to look at him this year.
Real quick, do you think?
I know you're getting all hot now.
I am.
I need a cigarette and a bonbon.
Are bonbon?
Are bonbon still a thing?
I don't even know what a bonbon is.
Really?
No.
Wow.
Did I just age myself?
Julia, do you know what a bonbonne is?
Oh, man.
It's like a little ice cream.
like it almost looks like a thimble and then it was covered by like hard chocolate on the outside
okay peg bundy used to love them it was a it was a it was a it was a married with children
you said am i aging myself you talk for like 10 more seconds and then you said peg bundy used
to love them hey she's still around katie segal she's killing it she's not dead yet i'm not that
old oh really i thought bonbon was like a fairly big like cultural type of thing yeah
Let me know if you know what Bonbons are. Help me out here.
She's not dead yet.
Anyway, you love Quinyan. We get it. Yes, but when you were talking there about Zach
Bond's regression, the bad thought popped into my head and I don't like it there.
Do we think there's any possibility that Quinyon takes a regression?
No, I don't. I don't either. Just from everything I read at training camp, it's like this guy is
prime to be even better this year.
Can't wait.
Well, it's very different than last training camp from Quinyan 2, where he was
CB2, you know, considered to be CB2 at training camp last year and Vic was playing him
in the slot.
He was, you know, he was playing him with the second team.
It was not apparent that he would be Quinyan Mitchell, the guy who nobody was going to
throw at at this point last year.
This has been the exact opposite.
Every report we're reading is, oh, wow, like he's winning one-on-one.
He's beating AJ Brown.
Yeah.
Fairly consistently.
And that's just, that shouldn't happen.
Is, do you, do you think the Eagles, just a real quick thought,
we're not going down this path?
But do you think there's any uptick in the passing game where AJ Brown can make the case
for best receiver in the league this year?
Or do you think that's an impossibility?
Is he going to need the yards?
Like, I mean, I just probably.
Yeah, I think like the yards are, you know, a big part of it.
Well, probably not, right?
Like Chase and Jefferson are just.
It's interesting, though, if you look at yards per route run.
Sure, he's top.
Efficiency.
Isn't it 15.
point like three or something?
He,
I think yards per route,
that might be yard per reception.
Okay.
Yards per route run,
which I'm sure he fares very highly.
Sure.
But just like the amount of times
you run out on a passing route,
I think he's averaging over three per route,
which is crazy.
And the only guy that was ahead of him last year
who didn't play most of last year was Pooka Nakua,
who's awesome, obviously.
Yeah.
The Eagles certainly know that.
But yeah,
I mean,
he was uber efficient last year.
And I think we probably underrated the fact that
I forget what he ended up with like,
I think it was like 1100 yards.
And the fact that he missed, I believe,
four games last year and also played in the most run heavy offense in the league.
His season probably went underrated.
I just wonder, is he going to have the volume of Jamar Chase?
Because that Bengals defense stinks.
So they're going to be in shootout after shootout.
And he's probably going to begin some garbage touchdowns.
It's also too.
I mean, the wide receiver position in the NFL is so loaded right now.
It's so much fun.
Like you talk about Puka.
I feel like he gets,
he gets overlooked all the time.
Do you have a fantasy draft coming up in the near future?
Because like,
I have a couple,
yeah.
I feel like if you don't get two wide receivers in the first like three or four rounds,
like you're cooked.
Like that's how strong.
It used to be running backs.
Yeah,
absolutely.
Now it's like if you don't have two top like 20 guys,
like you're in trouble in your fantasy drafts.
All right,
we kind of went down the side path there.
Let's bring it back to the cornerbacks.
There's some good bonbon.
Let's get it back to the bonbons.
Um,
one guy said I know Jamie is a stock,
Stocks fan.
Stocks poundcake
is maybe the greatest thing in the world.
You talk about a Philadelphia treasure.
My God, yes, I love stocks.
So the real question is,
does Katie Seagall like Stocks Poundkecks?
I don't know if she's had that yet.
We should probably get her one.
Should we send her a Stocks Poundcake,
courtesy of P.HLY, Katie Sigal,
with the big shout-out.
As you said, she's still alive.
Yeah, she's still ticking.
Yeah.
Okay, let's bring it back to the cornerback two conversation.
And you mentioned.
Because there's more weirdness.
Yeah, Keely Ringo.
It's one of the weirdest things ever.
I keep hearing, you know, when you, again, not like E.J.
or Bo who have really seen every snap at training camp.
But I think most reporters say,
Keely hasn't had a great camp.
It hasn't been an unmitigated disaster.
But it seems like Vic has got him in the doghouse.
As far as a result, though, the fact that he's taking third team snaps this week,
you can sugarcoat it any way you want.
I mean, that's an unmitigated disaster that we are here in late August.
he's receiving third team snaps.
You mentioned Vic, though.
Vic, you would think he would just tell it to you straight and would bury the player.
He's sort of, he's like tiptoes around Keely.
Like it feels like he believes in Keely.
Do you think this is a motivation tactic by Vic that like he actually has in his back pocket
like big plans for Keely and he's trying to, I don't know, motivate him or something?
Like, I don't know.
It feels weird.
To send him on a third team in practice is like, that's a shot across the bow.
I think so.
And I mean, I think it says that he's just not confident in him right now.
But, you know, maybe Vic Fangio has a little more nuance to, to his motivational technique.
Maybe.
Like some players, they need to be yelled at.
Sure.
Players need to be, you know, their egos need to be massaged a little bit.
So when you talk about Ringo, I think the weird element of Ringo is that Isaiah Rogers isn't here.
Because, look, how he.
And we can say this about how we, like going to get Bennett, for example.
He never rests on his laurels and like, good enough is good enough.
Like he's always looking to tinker and upgrading this.
And Isaiah Rogers two years ago was one of those guys suspended from the league.
We'll invest in you for your suspension in the payoff that in year two, we got you back.
We kind of believe in you.
It was like an embarrassment of riches in a way last year.
I always thought when they let Isaiah Rogers leave that Keely Ringo was full confidence in Keelie.
Yeah, I was like, oh, they love what they've seen from Keely Ringo.
They're making a bar pretty low for him to clear.
Yeah.
And he has not cleared it, apparently.
I mean, so much so that you had to go out and trade with the Raiders.
So like the Isaiah Rogers, Keely Ringo slash Bennett, like that is a weird situation.
One other element of this, because I wrote about it in the newsletter the other day.
Which is a phenomenal newsletter, everybody.
And you should sign up for the PHLY Daily and do it.
Yeah, you should do that.
One thing that I found interesting about this offseason is that the two trades that have,
he has made have basically been player for player swaps.
Yeah, like bubble fringe.
We're going to cut this guy.
You're going to cut that guy.
Let's just swap these out and see if we can both prosper here.
I thought it was very funny that the two picks that went in the CJ Gardner Johnson trade just came back.
It's like, you know, how he's looking at his, you know, his cabinet, his refrigerator, he sees that stock's pound cake.
But then he sees that pick and he's like, got to get that thing out of here, man.
But anyway, yeah.
Nick Casario and him are like this, man.
They love trading with each other.
They must just be on the phone all night.
They do that.
Mrs.
Roseman's like, Howie, get off the phone.
They're doing that, you know,
TikTok trend where they, like, call their friend to say good night.
And they're filming each other.
It's just Howie and Nick.
He's got like the old school phone cord kind of wrapped around.
And they're talking about death flares on the Eagles and Texas.
Oh, yeah, Harrison Brian.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah, we did some time.
So, yeah, no, that is a little bit weird.
But also weird, I'm surprised at Howie is not traded from that stockpile of picks that we have this year.
Same.
Because it's just, I think there's 12, 13 picks next year.
Yeah.
It's like one.
It's insane.
There's, I think, four.
I think there's like seven in the top 130 or something.
And it's just surprising because, you know, I understand the idea that you're going to need some of those picks to replenish your roster when some players leave and some players get too expensive, too old.
all of that stuff.
But you're not exactly mortgaging the future by trading a couple of those.
No, not at all.
Absolutely loaded.
So, hey, look, maybe the right trade didn't materialize.
So I'm not like, you know, certainly not down on how we pros me right now.
But I'm a little surprised.
I thought they were going to take from that stockpile of picks and maybe try and upgrade some of the shots.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I wonder if there's a near future big money player that they know they can't keep and they want to keep those draft picks to
replace said player.
Like it,
because,
you know,
I'm sure how he has
his two to three year
plan and window of everything.
And if three years from now
they can't afford AJ Brown anymore,
there's been some like drastic drop off.
Do they want to keep three thirds so that they can package and move up in a
first and get some new kid from LSU that they love?
You know,
like something like that.
I do believe they have that three to four year.
That's true.
Kind of kind of window.
So we'll see.
Optionality,
James.
Yes.
We love option.
You know,
Sam Hinky term.
Optionality.
But,
cornerback too, and then you throw Mac McWilliams in the mix who has been
toyed with a little bit in getting some first team reps back to the second team.
What do you, like, I honestly, you're right.
Like the more and more we talk about this, it's just, it's a bizarre situation.
Mac McWilliams even getting reps out there.
Like, I, Mac McWilliams, for all we know, is going to be a good player.
Yeah.
It seems like he has the profile of, you know, a tough, good football player.
I think a lot of people said, Avanti Maddox type player at the,
at the beginning of Avanti's career.
That would be swell.
Avanti was very good when he was not hurt.
But Avanti Maddox never played outside corner.
No.
It's not like the Eagles didn't have some issues out there.
He was pretty strictly,
he was a nickel.
And then they tried him at safety a little bit.
Yeah, yeah, that's scary injury.
He came in safety as a rookie, right?
Didn't he get knocked out in Lambo's end zone that?
Yes.
Wasn't that his rookie year?
That was scary.
But he was versatile.
But anyway, Mac McWilliams has the profile of,
okay, he's going to be a slot corner where I think he's an awesome understudy for Cooper de Gene.
He's a developmental player.
Who knows?
Maybe he becomes part of the secondary, like you said, as a safety.
Maybe he becomes a trade piece, something like that.
But they threw him for, you know, he got a lot of reps the last week of training camp on the outside.
That was a little weird.
You also mentioned Cooper DeGine also getting some reps.
I always thought that was their break glass in case of emergency.
And then what was it, Monday?
He was getting some looks as cornerback.
two in the base defense, which they're only in, they're only in, what, like 10, 12% of the time,
something like that. So it's not a huge thing. But like I do wonder like if that's their,
oh, bleep, like none of these guys can be like, do we bring Coop down and put somebody else
in his spot? And I think the answer to that is no. If Coop was a good nickelback,
I think there's a reasonable suggestion that, hey, maybe you put him on the outside.
Mac McWilliams, okay, he's better than we thought he can come in.
Coop is a game-changing
slot quarterback. I think you just
got to keep them there and try and get
decent play on the outside. And if you want more on that,
check out the Mina Kimes interview from
Wednesday. It's up on the video section
on our page there. They talked about
Cooper DeGine's, you know,
optimal situation and fit.
And, you know, those three great football
minds, E.J. Bo and Mina agreed
with exactly what you just said.
All right, we'll continue talking about some of the stuff
tonight. Maybe some more guys' jobs
on the line. But first, let's

All right, this is the PHLY Eagles podcast, and we're broadcasting live from the Xfinity Studios.
I'm an Xfinity Mobbleman.
and I'm an Xfinity internet man at home, and I love the product.
We are in Xfinity land here in Philadelphia, so it's an honor to be broadcasting from the
Xfinity studios.
All right, let's round out some of the things tonight.
We talked about cornerback two, first world problem, totally.
But one last thing on cornerback two.
Sure.
I love discussing it because it's been so weird and so unorthodox.
But it's going to be one of those things where, you know, Adori Jackson or Jacorri and Bennett
is probably going to be the corner on opening night.
Yeah, I think it's those two.
And it could be terrible because C.D. Lamb could light them up and get in the right matchup or the Eagles defense could not miss a beat.
You know, I don't really know how much the weak link theory is going to matter.
I just know it's going to be tested.
Yeah, absolutely.
You'd be foolish not to test it.
If I had to bet right now, I would say Bennett gets the start 13 days from now.
Yeah, me too.
I'm curious to see how they play it tonight.
Like, is it the two of them go out there and Best Man wins?
Like, is it legit up to this game?
Has it already been decided?
We'll find out.
I wonder if Vic's going to continue to put them in in tough situations, too,
where he put Keely in that zero blitz against Jamar Chase.
Unless Jamar Chase is sick.
We talked about how loaded the receiver position is.
He's probably the best receiver in the league.
It's probably him and Justin Jefferson.
Yeah, I think you can make, yeah, you can make the case for either one.
Are considered one and two.
So no shame giving up the catch there, but, you know,
got to get them on the ground.
That one whiff on the tackle was a tough.
watch. That was pretty bad. So I don't know. Does Vic test those guys in this final
preseason game? I would think he wants to. Jamar Chase is probably not playing for the Jets unless
unless I'm not as familiar with their second team and what's going on. Yeah, I can't imagine
Garrett Wilson stepping out there tonight. I don't think he's going to play for that. But they are
the Jets, a terrible franchise. So you never know. So, so yeah, as Rocco says in the chat,
good thing, the D-line and Ryanbackers are nasty. I agree with that. So I'm really looking forward
forward. And we're going to talk about the excitement of opening day. This Eagles D-line.
and excites me because
you know, Nolan Smith
looks like he's on the verge of like
busting through in a major way. Jalick's
Hunt looks like
way more than I ever would have
hoped for that
early in his career. You have Jalen
Carter. I think Ojamo is going to
become a big name in the
NFL this year. Like I'm excited
for that defensive line this year. So
to Rocco's point, yeah, this defense
is exciting. We're nitpicking on the
one or two areas where it's like
what are we hot? Because we don't know.
You mentioned the defensive line. I'm more excited about the linebackers.
Well, if Jihad Campbell is legit, I think Beau said this the other day, like, you legit might have the best linebacking room in the NFL.
It's crazy.
Like, where are we?
Think about where we were a season and a half ago.
We didn't even know.
I, we did Bo rehashed.
We did the snap count member, which you won in a big way.
Congrats to you.
As everybody remembers.
a flagship segment.
I took Devin White.
Devin White.
I mean, we thought he was going to start it this time last year.
Yeah.
Didn't even make the flight to Brazil.
Oh, crazy.
All right.
So the other position I'm curious about,
and you brought up the good point,
who sits tonight at the safety two position?
Now, Drew McCuba did look like hell of a, hell of a first game.
A pick six, his first ever in his life, he said, at any level.
He gets a fumble recovery.
Thank you.
By the way, that's crazy.
Yeah, isn't that nine?
First pick six.
Yeah.
I saw him with Johnny Tarmac down in the bowels and he's like, yeah, that was my first pick six ever.
I was like, what?
How was that possible?
Because he looks like an athletic freak.
Look, I think I've revealed a lot about my, my athletic career on this show.
I had two pick sixes in grade school football.
Oh, nice.
Very proud.
Nice.
Were you jumping routes?
Was it a tip ball drill?
How did they go down?
Linebacker on a blitz on one of the.
them kind of tip the ball up in the air and it fell back in my arms.
I got to say in, uh, in eighth grade CYO ball, the quarterback play is, uh, you're not exactly
seeing Jalen hurts out there.
Did these, uh, pick sixes get you any girlfriends in eighth grade?
No, no, not at all.
Not at all.
That's a shame.
But it was, it was quite a rough.
And the other one was a jumped route.
Yeah.
Okay.
So Drew,
Drew McCuba.
Welcome to the club.
So it did look like after his performance last week, I was kind of like, oh,
I think Drew McCuba just won the job.
And then he goes down and practice this week with the hamstring.
Really unfortunate.
You brought up the point, who's going to play safety to tonight?
Who's going to sit?
If they sit, Sidney Brown, does that tell you he's starting 13 days from now?
I think so.
Yeah, I do.
And as weird as CB2 has been,
yeah, safety has been a bit of a roller coaster as well.
Absolutely.
Because leaving the second preseason game,
I would have put more turkeys on McCuba,
even though he really hasn't gotten a lot of reps in this training camp
because he's been banged up for a week at a time,
a couple of times now.
And as much as we know,
you can't make the club and the tub.
You also probably can't make the starting lineup in the tub either
when you're a rookie that needs the reps and needs to learn.
So I think the job is probably Sidney Browns because of this.
And I wonder if that's the case,
they're probably going to sit them in the night
because I would think you're right about that.
Yeah.
Yeah, I mean, you can't risk another injury.
If it's, I mean, my boy Tristan McCollum, who kind of won me over a little bit last preseason,
I guess is the other option there.
Like, it's, I mean, what else are we looking at?
Like, Drew McCuba has to kind of, I know Siddy Brown has all the athleticism in the world.
I know his brother is extremely talented.
I worry about what's between the ears and kind of the spastic nature of him.
Oh, me too.
And can it apply to a full-time.
starter or is he just a depth guy? So kind of a big year for him. Year three, you know,
what are we going to get out of Sidney Brown? Well, he has an opportunity here to take a job
and, and keep it potentially. You're right. The worry with him is just, is his bad play disastrous?
Is he just completely missing an assignment and then a guy runs past him, ball gets over his head?
That's the worry. I will say the concussion uncle in me, like, let's get Sidney Brown on the field.
Some snobbles. Yeah. Let's get him laying some people out in the middle of the field because he's just, he plays
with his hair on fire.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
So I think the job is probably his.
It seems like he's been okay at his job.
Like, my guess is that if Makuba had played the entire training camp, it would be his job.
But he's really just missed a lot of time.
So is that a position that changes in the middle of the year?
By the way, CB2, that could also be a position that changes in the middle league.
Maybe Adori Jackson gets the first shot, but then they say at some point, all right,
Chakurion Bennett, he's caught up.
He's ready to go.
And maybe Kili Ringo gets back in the mix at some point.
as well. So week one, we talk about a lot, uh, who the, who the starters are going to be.
And we're all curious, right? That's going to be a big game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Absolutely. The, uh, the eyes of the nation are going to be on Philadelphia. Yeah.
We, uh, we, uh, we see a banner get, uh, unveiled, which is going to be sick.
In 13 days. It's so close. Like, I don't know how you handle training cam. I, I don't want to say I
ignore it, but like, I can't get too excited early on for the NFL season because it's still so far away.
right about now is the time
where like the excitement
starts to like really slow build for me
we're less than two weeks away like
I'm ready to run out to Broad Street
and do an Eagles chant and like kind of like punch a brick wall
like I'm starting to get hype for the season
absolutely me too and it's and it's
been dormant in me and now it's time
Jim also mentioned in the chat
what up Jim as well just just
you know I think it's something to be cognizant about
McCuba is somebody who puts his body on the line
and hits people pretty hard
definitely but you do worry
about his size a little bit. Yes, he does look small.
Johnny, Johnny Tarmacque was like, like, he looked like a giant next to him.
Oh, I didn't see this interview. I got to see.
Johnny, the airport. John's a tall guy. He's a pretty big guy. Yeah, yeah.
But he's got these size for a reporter. I was like, oh, you're, you're the guy that
would knock people out at Texas? Like, it's impressive from a slight frame that he hits as hard
as he does. But it is a worry. And can he stay healthy? I think that was a concern of McCuba,
even coming in. Yes. To the NFL. I will say, you know, I'm not watching how he
got injured, you know, maybe these were just kind of two freak, freak injuries, but not a great start in terms of staying healthy in the NFL.
No, your first game back and you, or not first game, you get one game and then you practice a week and you pull a hamstring.
Not, not great.
So real quick to tie a bow on tonight's game, Rich, I guess there's some offensive line jobs up for grabs.
When we were meeting before the show, you brought up a good point about Drew Kendall, who some people called like one of the steals of the draft, a very good center out of Boston.
college, you know, his dad played in the league, good pedigree, really impressive time at BC
as a center.
Last week, we did not see him playing center.
We saw a little bit, but they bumped him out to guess.
Yeah.
He and I believe Tooth played the entire game.
They flipped him.
Yeah, they flipped him.
Apparently, too, everybody who watches Toast snaps at training camp, they're like, this is a disaster.
You're like, we like Toh, like he might be an okay, you know, left guard replacement.
They've had them around for what, like seven years now?
But the snaps are an issue.
Like, look, modern NFL football, you do need to be able to do a shotgun snap.
Yeah.
So I guess it's a good sign for Drew Kendall.
Look, Cam Juergens has center on lockdown.
Guard is...
Versatility is very important.
Yeah, huge.
And Stalin loves versatility.
You know, Kendall is a guy I'm going to keep an eye on the night for sure and see what they do with them and how they use them.
But that versatility is huge for him making this roster.
Well, and the Eagles also hopefully Landon Dickerson.
comes back sooner than later.
It seems like the Eagles did dodge him to start.
You think he's going to play the first game?
I do.
Yeah, he's a little nuts.
Well, in a good way.
Yeah, in a great way.
He's such a beast.
I still don't think we talk enough about him and Juergens in that NFC championship game.
Real quick to sidetrack.
Do you follow his wife on Instagram by any?
No.
Okay, so I follow his wife on Instagram.
I follow a lot of guys' wives on Instagram because you get more insight to like the player's lives than you do through them.
Oh, that's why you follow him.
Okay.
Yes.
Yeah.
Yes, guys, I'm a professional.
But they do so much home renovations and projects.
Yeah, they're big on the landscaping.
Oh, yeah.
Like her content is wild.
It's like there are projects that they work on in their house.
They just got a townhouse.
Like she documents their whole life.
So I feel like me and Landon are, you know, like boys.
But they just got a townhouse that they're completely renovating themselves after up to, like, they fix up some mansion in South Jersey with the lawn.
Oh, they have one in Philly?
I think so.
Oh.
And they're like in the process.
of renewing that and doing all the work themselves.
It's pretty wild to see, like, how talented of a person, Landon Dickerson is.
I was a little worried when he had the meniscus entry.
I'm like, can he be on the lawn mower for this?
Because that guy loves mowing his lawn, his gigantic lawn in South Jersey.
And I don't want that taken away from him.
He shares that I did not know this about our new colleague, E.J. Smith, besides being the nicest
people you'll ever meet in your life, huge lawn guy.
loves a line.
He flexed.
We started a Discord channel here for, what do we end up calling it?
Lawn home projects or lawn.
It was strictly for E.J.
So he could flex on his lawn lines to our diehards.
So you should become a diehard.
And you can see E.J.'s lawn and the beautiful lines he makes on them.
But yeah, big yard guy.
E.J. Smith.
I never asked.
I wonder if he's got like a real tight relationship with Landon Dickerson because they can just talk lawns for hours.
He's like, you can speak my language, right?
You're not just trying to get these.
these BS quotes from me about my health status.
So it's called lawns, landscaping, and home projects channel.
Well.
And E.J.
just flexing in there.
Did you see these lines?
I mean, it sounds like you've seen them before, but like, take a look at E.J.'s lawn lines here.
Oh, very active.
Well, that's not a reason to become a diehard.
Thank you, Julia, for popping that up in the corner there.
Definitely great time because it's a sale going on and you want to do it.
It's the best price.
Great time to get in.
You can see E.J.'s lawn in our Discord.
channel so many other perks too so yeah i'm definitely interested to see drew kendall it's it's very
important to have versatility when you're looking at you know those three four offensive line backup
spots now now dickerson provides versatility too because he can play center sure in a pitch as well
but yeah it's it can be it can be tough if you were just a backup center usually you would like
to have somebody be able to play those other positions seems like people are pretty uh impressed by
Drew Kendall, which is good.
I will say the offensive line in the Cleveland game,
a large reason that game was relatively unwatchable for long stretches.
They did not perform well in that game.
And that was a little bit of an alarm bell going off in my head where I'm just like,
yeah, like, can you guys be a little bit more, more competent?
Because at some point, somebody's going to get injured.
Fred Johnson's going to have to play.
Tyler Steen of last year is going to have to play.
Who are those guys to step into those spots this year?
You have guys like Kendall Lamb and Matt Pryor who have played a lot of ball?
in their careers.
But like, let's see, maybe like a little bit more competency.
Hopefully Kendall is somebody they can rely on as well.
So that's something to look for too.
I'm going to add one more guy on the offensive side.
John Metchy.
That's true.
Yes.
We didn't,
we kind of glossed over an obvious one.
Look,
I think he's a lot to make the team,
especially with Johnny Whistlin injury.
Is he going to be that kind of like mucker, grinder,
blocker, dirty work type of guy?
Are they going to, how are they going to use them?
Him and Devante are like best friends.
And I think they have some crimson tied dance that they do together on the field from their Alabama days.
So it'll be fun to see.
But you're right.
Like how do they use METCHI?
Do we see him?
How long do we see him for?
Et cetera, et cetera.
Yeah.
And I mean, Kyle McCord, yeah, it seems like he's going to be.
He's going to be QB3.
I think it makes sense.
You get the four years, the rookie contract.
You can mold them.
You can shape them.
You can develop them.
DTR is he's a fully baked pie.
he should be much better than McCord
because he's been in the league a few years.
He's actually started games.
It is kind of wild when you watch DTR.
I'm like, man, this guy like started games for the Browns last year?
What the heck is going on?
I mean, me and a Browns fans got to be rough.
Yeah.
It's another St. Joe's prep alum as their head coach.
All right, let's take a quick break
and tell you about some more of our friends here at PHLY.
And then I got to tell you,
I think somebody got snubbed.
I think two Eagles got absolutely.
snubbed rich on the NFL 100 list.
We'll tell you about those two coming up after this.

This is the PHLY Eagles podcast.
We're broadcasting live from the Xfinity Studios.
Time's flying by here, Rich.
And you know what we got to get to.
We got to get to the big takeaway.
Let's do it, baby.
And the big takeaway is presented by XX.
Xfinity where the Wi-Fi is booming.
And the big takeaway today, Rich, I think Devante Smith, I am a big fan of the NFL 100.
I like it.
I consume it.
We're content, man.
Yeah, you know, team content.
Hashtag content.
I like the way they slow release it over the 100 days.
There was going to be a ton of Eagles on it this year, so I had a lot of interest.
Just yesterday, Lane Johnson got released as number 23.
We'll get to him in a second.
The big takeaway is that Devante Smith got screwed.
I understand it can't be like too eagle heavy.
And you probably had to sacrifice him of the Eagles so you don't have like 15 Eagles on the list.
But Devante Smith is not on the list of the NFL top 100 this year.
Number 100 on the list was Ladd McConkey.
Yeah, I mean, come on.
He had a nice rookie year, but I do think Devante is a much more
a staunch player.
They caught the dagger in the Super Bowl on the biggest stage.
I think that's probably a bigger conversation, though, James, like that Devante is
an underappreciated player because of the circumstances.
Absolutely.
So I'm looking at Devante's career.
First year, 916 receiving yards.
Next two years, he goes over 1,000.
And last year, he only had 833.
He only played in 13 games.
though as well.
But that's, again,
that's part of what we talked about
with the AJ Brown season.
Sure.
Not only are the Eagles
as run heavy as possible,
he's also the number two option.
Yes.
Because AJ is the guy
that you do have to get the ball
to every single game.
Devante, he is weeks where,
you know,
he only has like 20 yards receiving.
I'm curious,
what do you think he could put up?
Let's say he was a number one option.
Number one option on a,
not a terrible team,
but a, let's say like a Seattle,
like an up and coming type of team.
A below average team, yeah, like Seattle.
Like a Gino Smith type.
That's like defense first.
Yeah.
I think he's a 1400 yard guy.
I think he could put up 1,300, 1400 yards.
Yeah, absolutely.
You know,
8 to 10 touchdown type of thing.
I think absolutely.
He's such a complete receiver too,
because the route running is excellent.
Oh, I'm mesmerized.
We put out a slow-mo video of his footwork the other day.
The ladder drills are.
Oh, I can watch Devante ladder drills all day.
That might be the best thing from training camp.
Yeah.
It was just wild.
how he's getting those feet in and out.
And his pants are so skinny.
And he's just, look, coming out, I love Devante Smith,
but I will raise my hand.
I had fears of his size and going across the middle
and like, is he going to hold up with the wear and tear of an NFL season?
This guy's an enigma.
Like, he's unbelievable.
He plays so much bigger than his size.
Yeah, like he's almost better going across the middle.
And his, some of the contested catches he makes.
He makes three of the craziest contested catches every single year.
I mean, that catch he made.
And his footwork on the side.
sidelines like unbelievable getting the toes in you would think he would make the top 100 just based on
the catch he made against jacksonville in that game last year that's one of the best catches i've ever
seen i know i think he got robbed here's some of the receivers on the list rich and tell me tell me
if he would take devonte or this receiver lad mccankee at number 100 devonte
Drake london number 97 Drake london's a good play like all these players are good who played well against the
eagles last year now and he's kind of up and coming and uh and he's kind of up and coming and uh
maybe transcending.
But the idea that Devante couldn't be,
DeVante could be Drake London on the foul.
Absolutely.
100%.
Yeah, it's funny.
Drake London caught that Eagles defense at the perfect time.
Coming off the Brazil game.
Cooper wasn't really playing all that much.
Yeah, take on dropping passes.
Given the end of the W.
Jerry Judy at number 82.
No,
I'd rather have to.
Of course you would.
That's exactly what I'm talking about.
We're a guy who's playing on as a number one.
As a number one on a defense first team that's not very good.
Yep.
T. Higgins, number 77.
Good player. I think he's very similar position to Devante.
Very.
You have Jamar Chase slash AJ Brown as your counter.
Except his team throws the ball a lot more.
Yes.
There's more targets to go around.
And Joe Burroughs slings it.
And that's not a Jalen Hurts shot, people.
Malik Neighbors number 67.
See, I think he's going to be really good.
I think he's going to be really good too.
And it looks like Jackson Dart can play a little bit.
We'll see.
You think that that dude perfect segment we did.
couple months ago. It's not going to age well.
It's going to get thrown in our faces.
This Jackson Dart is just winning NFL offensive rookie of the year.
Yeah.
Sick, bro.
He's made some good throws.
We'll see.
I think he had 14 straight completions in preseason week too.
Well, look, Tommy DeVito.
That's true. Tommy Cutlets.
That was an excellent performance.
Yeah.
Let's see.
We have Brian Thomas Jr. number 61.
I think that's a very fair comp.
DeMonte has more of a track record to him.
Brian.
Ryan Thomas is pretty sick.
Pretty sick, younger.
It's like I'm saying.
The state of the receiver position is excellent.
Then we have Scary Terry still remains unsigned.
Had a great year.
Fake Adam Schefter tweet got my commander's buddies earlier today.
They sent it.
And the Schefter T was a one.
And I was like, dude, you ate the poop online.
You never eat the poop online.
You got a check for that check mark, man.
He was all hyped.
He's like, we got Scary Terry done before the year.
And me and my one Eagles buddy, Dave, we're like, dude, it's a fake account.
Like, what are you doing here?
But scary Terry calls comes in at number 52.
Good player.
Good player.
And I also think it's, it's fair to point out that the commanders have gone so old on their
roster this year that they're drawing the line at Terry McQuarran is, is, I think he turns 30
this, this year, or he's already 30.
One of those two.
So I understand you, you might be a little bit wary about extending him, but Washington
with how you've built your roster.
You have to.
Come on.
This guy has been your good soldier with all your bad quarterback play in all these years.
Yeah.
And then you really saw what he could do with the guy who's legit and Jaden Daniels.
So Jaden Daniels, he was today's unveiling.
He came in at number 21 on the NFL top 100 list.
So some big praise for Scary Terry's quarterback there.
I think the main point with Devante is just I'm curious what he would do in another situation.
But as we saw in the Super Bowl where, okay, you know, AJ gets the touchdown catch on the,
on the shallow cross or earlier.
everybody's worried about Sequin.
John Dotson actually gets a throw
earlier in that game. Hey, by the way, DeVante Smith
still here. And when
you have single coverage against him, because
your, you know, Spags is getting desperate
and he needs a turnover, the Eagles
run a play to get him the
deep ball. And, and of course, of course, he
wins one-on-one. So really, really an embarrassment
of riches on this team. I love Devante.
He is, I love him to say this, too.
Like, I think he has, even
if AJ is a beloved player
and a great player, there is something
about Devante where I just think he's such a fan favorite.
You want a little bit of a flex here?
What?
I tailgated with DeVante's parents and his girlfriend with our friends at Philly
sports trips.
Oh, cool.
At the Tampa, was that the playoff game?
No, it was the regular season game a few years back.
His rookie year.
But me and Devante were like this.
House of Horrors Tampa.
I hate that.
That's going to be a loss, by the way.
I'm saying that already.
Oh, you're calling it?
Yeah, I can buy that.
Absolutely.
To round out the receivers on this list, Tyreek Hill number 47,
Mike Evans, number 44, your boy Puka, number 41, CD Lamb,
who we'll see in 13 days comes in at number 35,
Nico Collins, number 32, and our boy, AJ Brown, number 29.
Loaded position.
Loaded, and you're still going to have Jamar Chase, Justin Jefferson.
Is there somebody else we're missing?
There might be one other guy we're missing.
But I think the top two duos for sure,
and you can put them in any order.
I think you definitely put T. Higgins and Jamar Chase up there,
but I'll take Devante and AJ against anybody.
Yeah, so the other part of the top 100 list is I think another guy got screwed.
I don't see a scenario where Lane Johnson isn't a top 15 NFL player.
He comes in at number 23 on the list.
I just told you, Jaden Daniels was 21 today.
Max Crosby was 22.
So, I mean, like he's surrounded by great.
and there's a ton of great NFL players.
But Rich, when you think about the lack of sacks over the last three years,
the importance of the right tackle position in this day and age,
the win-loss record with and without lane,
two-time Super Bowl champion,
it's hard for me to think that there's truly, like,
more than 10 to 12 better players.
And I know this is going to be a quarterback heavy, top 15 or whatever,
but like, come on.
talking about the position they play and grading them as a football player,
Lane Johnson deserves to be higher.
I will die on that hill.
I mean,
top two player last year and has been the best player at a top three premium position,
right?
I think you would say quarterback,
edge rusher, tackle.
Those are probably the three receiver,
very important as well as we talked about,
but there's a lot of depth at that position,
has been doing it for forever.
It's a hall of famer.
And he's just,
he's underappreciated.
because we don't have to think about the tackle position.
And something we've talked about a lot is PFF.
If they tweet out something we don't like, then disregard it.
Yeah.
But if they match our agenda, they're the best.
Then it's the best.
Love you, Chris Collinsworth.
Absolutely.
The stat that they had that I thought was legitimately interesting,
the island percentage.
And I don't have it up right now.
Oh, yeah.
No.
But it just goes to show that the Eagles treat their,
both of their tackles differently than pretty much anybody in the league.
I think Tristan Worf's is the other one.
That guy is like an elite player.
But when you look at Lane versus Pene Soule,
Penezul does not get put on an island quite as much as Lane.
Or myelotta.
They turn the difficulty up as much as possible.
And yet we still don't hear anything about it.
And it's part of the secret sauce.
And when Lane eventually retires, you know,
I think he was on Bustin with the Boys or pardon my take or something recently.
And he was like, yeah, my contract's 30.
next year. That could be it for me. Like, if I win again this year and become a three-time
champion, I could just call it quits. Like, he's very much thinking about the end of his
that worries me a little bit. And that makes me real sad because Lane Johnson, I've said this
before. I hope it's not misconstrued as a hot take. I think he's the greatest eagle ever.
Yeah. I mean, when you talk about the contributions, but also the longevity. Yeah. Just the impact
he has game to game, but also the fact that he's,
He is drafted in 2013.
So yeah.
Yeah.
Thank you,
Chip Kelly.
It's been around forever.
And thank you to the Miami Dolphins.
Yes.
drafting Dion Jordan.
I'll never.
As soon as they took him,
I was like,
yes,
I didn't want him.
I thought Lane was like a sure thing.
Or Chip was a sure thing to take Dion.
So.
Yeah,
I thought those comments this week were interesting though,
where he was,
yeah,
he was basically like,
you know,
at some point here,
I think I'm going to want to spend Thanksgiving
and Christmas at home with,
with my family.
I feel like he also,
when the offseason said,
I got a couple more years left in me.
It's always a question at the end of the season.
Is Lane Johnson coming back?
And that's completely fair.
The Eagles have been spoiled because it was the same way with Jason Kelsey.
When you have these amazing linemen that are playing well into their 30s and at a high level,
you still do need to ask the question these guys who have made a lot of money and at some point
are going to just say, yeah, I won out.
That will be a sad day and that will also be a day that the Eagles are going to have to rework the roster a little bit.
So I would think this upcoming drag,
draft next April is probably right tackle time.
Well, they didn't address it the last two drafts.
And we'll see about...
I mean, I hope Lane plays two more years,
but you're probably going to want to start addressing that guy
to get into the system to develop them.
If he's not going to be, you know, a top 20, like, plug-in-play day one type.
Like, you got to start addressing that soon.
You know, it's interesting.
One guy we're going to look at, I think, a decent amount this year is,
is Simmons, the Ohio State kid.
Oh, yeah.
For KC.
I think the, that's the name, right, Josh Simmons?
Yes, I believe so.
The Eagles, they trade up a spot.
Now, I think that was a weird trade.
They trade up a spot with the Chiefs.
And I think there's a little bit of trust there with Howie,
because Red Veach was on the phone.
He said, well, what side of the ball are you taking
and how he was honest?
And I think that's that level of trust you need.
Sure.
Between GMs, he said, I'm taking defense.
And I think the chiefs looked at it and said,
All right. Well, just take a defense.
We're going to go.
Yeah, we want Simmons.
So we'll see how good he is.
Doesn't he have like an absurdly long wing span?
Like isn't it one of the biggest wingspans like in recent memory Simmons?
There have been some pretty positive reports on him.
Yeah.
And they like the chiefs did away like with half their offensive line.
We'll see.
I mean, everybody has positive reports in training camp for their rookies.
And then when the season starts, it's a little harder to contribute.
But I got my eye on that one.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So Lane, I think, got snubbed.
And that was our big takeaway, bro.
to you by Xfinity.
Rich, a couple minutes here as we wrap up.
We're 13 days away from the opener.
And Jerry Jones,
we just kind of laugh at him.
Because what he is doing right now
with the Michael Parsons situation,
you brought up a piece by Bill Barnwell.
I think you should hit on because it's very accurate.
Like, this dude just does not get it.
He gets in his own best interest
constantly. He costs himself more money constantly, and he's more worried about producing Netflix
dramas than he is running a successful NFL franchise. What a joke. I mean, I love him as an Eagles
fan. Like, I hope he stays and his son, Stephen, takes over and runs it the same exact way for
the next couple decades. What an absolute joke of an organization. It's the complete opposite
of how the Eagles handle these situations. Pay cash up front.
just set the market
and hit where it is,
because the market really only goes up
with these top players.
You know,
what's Jalen Hertz going to be?
He's going to be like the ninth highest paid
quarterback in like a year,
you know,
like,
and that's going to change.
But when that does change,
no,
I'm saying,
it's like a good thing.
Like,
you lock them up early
and so many other guys like wait to set these deals.
And it's just like,
but he's going to need a new deal at some point.
Yeah.
They're going to get out ahead of that.
And,
you know,
and you're going to get Jalen Carter done after this year.
And then two years from now,
he'll be like the 10th highest paid detackle.
go to do I don't call this bovertime do I that's just a bow thing now let's go to overtime let's go to
over time like this dude's never going to get it no no he's not it's it's the complete opposite
of how yeah yeah the Eagles do it it's just like and by the way he's he's like paying for bad
vibes and hurting his players like the Eagles like their players get less money but because the
Eagles set the market rate right away they're like okay that that's fair uh they said a good price
with me. I was taken care of right away. And he's the exact opposite where he's getting into these
arguments with Micah Parsons and his agent. Did you see Michael Parsons on Twitter? His Twitter is like
Penn State 2021 like TVD. It's awful. I mean, it was so bad like C.D. Lam situation was bad.
Then Michael Parsons and who was it? Dak Prescott was another one too. Dak. Yeah. But they like held a press
conference on the sidelines of training camp and were like calling the owner out. How do they expect?
to be a successful team.
Like with that going on, it's insanity.
It's completely crazy.
And the best bet is that he's going to pay
Micah Parsons a record setting contract
like a couple days before
or maybe a couple minutes before the Eagles
unveil their banner in the first game.
You say, oh, we won the news cycle or whatever.
But you're just costing yourself so much money
in the long term.
And I also think this, it's been pretty bizarre
the back and forth between.
Jerry Jones and Micah Parsons here because it seems like Jerry Jones felt like he had a handshake
agreement with Michael Parsons without his agent.
And it's like, come on, man.
So that's not how it works.
Pro football talk has a story out four hours ago.
I haven't read it yet.
But he says by negotiating directly with the players who have agents, Jerry Jones is again, brazenly
violating the CBA.
And the NFLPA continues to let him do it.
It's in like, what is going on?
Like, does this not have nudes, pictures of everybody like in the NFL?
like how does he do how does he do this even even if it's sorry sorry you kind of got me off off
trap a little something besides that like what is going on why is he allowed to just i i just do whatever he
wants it's such bad form like it's like micha parsons went back to his agent of course he did what he
pays the guy like 3% of his contract i pay the guy so he gets me the most money and then he takes a piece
of that, right? It's kind of a, that they're on the same wavelength there. Yeah, I just find that
bizarre. So is this Micah Parsons deal going to get done? Who knows? I think it probably will because
we've seen it play out, but Jerry will have cost himself some money. And I will say for everybody
here in the chat, who is a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, why don't you watch America's team,
the gambler and his Cowboys? Have you watched? Oh yeah, I watched the first couple episodes as a thank
you for his stewardship of the Dallas Cowboys. So he clearly had a hand in the production,
right? Like is he listed as a producer on the show?
Like,
this is,
he likes that stuff more than he likes probably competing for Super Bowls.
Like,
is it something worth watching?
I thought the first,
some of those docs are good,
even if it's from a biased perspective and,
uh,
the subject has final cut over it.
I thought the first episode was pretty fascinating.
There was a thing called the,
the Saturday night massacre where Jerry took over the team and he fired Tom
Landry, which was firing God down there, basically, and also fired,
I'm blanking on the long time, TechSram, the GM, and Gilbrand and a bunch of other people.
I thought that was kind of interesting, which ended up probably being the right move,
but, you know, we're talking 35 years ago at this point.
You want to, I got a Gil Brand story for you.
He was great on NFL.com.
Yeah, so I liked him as an analyst, and I was back in my radio days.
I called him to book him.
And he was like, can you do me a favor and send me a,
facts.
And I was like, dude, what?
What year was this?
I mean, like 2010, 2012, like, faxes are beyond obsolete at the time of the conversation.
Sure.
And I think I went back to Cuzz or whoever I was working for at the time.
And I was like, I mean, he says he'll do it, but like, I have to send him a fax with the
information.
I was like, I don't even know how to do that.
No.
So I don't think I got him on because I didn't send him a fax.
You got to meet him on his terms, man.
I know, but I don't know how to do that.
No, I wouldn't either.
I think you just kind of move on after that one.
If we're talking about sports documentaries, too, that Chiefs documentary.
Oh, I heard the latest episode has the Super Bowl in it,
and Eagles fans would find a lot of enjoyment in it.
I haven't gotten there yet.
I'm watching a lot of K-pop demon hunters these days.
Okay.
Not by my choosing.
The girls kind of run the TV.
Okay.
I want to get to it.
And the other one that's out is the White House, apparently, about the party house that the Cowboys had.
And I saw a trailer for it. It's coming out. You know, they had the party house right by the practice facility.
And it's like Emmett Smith and Haley and like some of the great cowboys. And they're like, man, I'm not spilling the tea on this one.
And then they cut to Michael Irvin. And Michael Irvin's like, all right, what do you want to know about the White House?
Like, whatever you're, you know, we had girls in this room and weed in this room and Coke in this room.
And I was like, I was like, I think I have to watch this one.
This seems crazy.
As somebody who does not like the Cowboys, I enjoy my corner.
I do too.
I think he's very entertaining.
So maybe I'll have to check that one out.
All right, Rich.
It was a lot of fun catching up on the Eagles.
The season is 13 days away.
Up in the Meadowlands tonight, Mr. E.J. Smith in the house,
joining Bo Wolf live on the post-game show.
That post-game show will probably be about 35, 40 minutes after.
after the conclusion of the game
so that EJ can get down to the locker room,
talk to the players, you know,
this roster.
The inside scoop.
Yeah, and this roster's going to be determined on Tuesday.
Tonight goes a long way for probably those bubble fringe guys.
So they'll have the latest 40 live on the postgame show tonight.
Excited to tune in and watch that slop.
E.J.
and Bo or the game?
No, no, no.
The game.
All right.
I thought it was shots part there.
No, E.J.
no.
Look, E.J. and Bo.
we're going to be great. Yeah, I mean, one more postgame show until, you know, a couple weeks from now.
And then we get to watch the Cowboys, watch the banner get dropped right in their faces. It's going to be
great. Thank you to Julia behind the scenes for helping us out. It was a lot of fun, Rich, doing the show.
Thank you so much for tuning in. If you're not already liked and subscribe to the channel,
