Hello and happy Wednesday to all out there. Welcome into the P. H.LY. Eagles podcast presented by our friends over at Bet365. You can find out why it's never ordinary at Bet365. Use promo code P.HLY 365 at sign up. Get yourself $200 in bonus bets. Jamie Lynch, Rich Hoffman. We're going to be joined momentarily by Zach Berman live from the Novacare Complex. And Rich, I don't know if you caught our Ph.LY custom odds boost.
last week.
But my thinking in creating it was I went Sequin, two touchdowns, because the pendulum had
swung so far in Jalen Hertz's rushing touchdown.
It had a situation that I thought Mr. Emotional Intelligence, Nick Siriani, would counter
it by going Sequin.
That was the hard part.
I hit that.
Sequin yard, 75 over, piece of pie.
This was a six to one parlay.
The last leg, A.J. Brown over 75 yards.
and an injury robbed us all.
So that sucked.
Yeah, I mean, the Sequin ones hit very easily.
I mean, that was the bravest cowards draw I've ever seen.
That's when you knew the Jags were a band team.
When a Cowards draw hits untouched for a touchdown 20 yards, that is, that's something.
All right.
Bo was leaving the stadium so we didn't get to see his live Cowards reaction touchdown.
But nonetheless, it was a hell of a week.
weekend. Still kind of digested that one Sunday night when I got home. But let's get right to him.
I believe he's there. Of course he is. ZB. is never late. Let's go down to the Novacare complex and talk to
Zach Berman. Zach, what's up, buddy? Hey, good to see you guys. Yeah, how are you? So why don't you
just kind of surmise Nick Siriani today for those of us that didn't hear or watch Nick? Obviously,
some big injury updates. We're all awaiting here. Why don't you surmise what Nick had to say today?
Yeah, as far as injury updates, he was not going there.
He said, we'll get the injury report later today.
But honestly, what will probably be more telling than the injury report is I'll be on the practice field in about 11 minutes.
And I'll see if AJ Brown's out there, Dallas Goddard's out there, Darius Slay's out there.
And I think this is important to monitor, not just for Sunday, but I think Eagles fans need to keep in mind.
There's a quick turnaround next week, right?
They have that Thursday game against Washington.
And they're not even going to practice next week.
They'll have a walkthrough on Tuesday next week.
But I think that if you want to see AJ and Goddard next week,
you should hope that maybe they're at least practicing on a limited basis by the end of this week.
So we'll see.
That's going to be interesting there.
As far as some of the other topics from Siriani,
I asked him about Bryce off because Bryce off wasn't traded, as we all know.
He's on the team.
And he said Bryce off is going to be in the mix with the other edge.
rushers. They're, they're going to keep rotating. Certainly not the way you typically describe
your $17 million edge rusher, but he's someone who is going to be in the mix. And now,
Nick Siriani has said also, you know, Jelix Hunt could push to play. Jelux Hunt's been impressing
behind the scene. Something else that Siriani was talking a lot about the quality of the position
coaches this year and kind of the value they're providing. He spoke about managing Seekwans
workload and being privy to Saquan Barkley's workload as the season progresses.
And then obviously the background that Kellan Moore might have on the Cowboys and Cooper Rush in
particular, he said they'll be mining for information and it's going to be up to them to determine
like what should be used and what should not be used.
Zach, you mentioned the position coaches and I'm thinking about the defensive side right now
where the Eagles have played really good ball over the past month. And, you know, you have
I think a new face literally at every
spot of the defense with Clint Hurt, with Bobby King,
and then Christian Parker on the back end.
I know there's some guys who are still here,
Jeremiah Washburn still helping out in his role.
You know, just in talking to players,
what have you learned about those three guys?
I mean, you can really pick any one of them, actually.
Yeah, sure, yeah.
So they're all quite different, right?
I mean, Christian Parker, he's a young deep ex-coats,
32 years old.
He's also the defensive passing game coordinator.
E.J. Smith from the Inquirer had a good piece on him
this past weekend. And really, he was very highly regarded when he came over from Denver.
I worked with Patrick Tertan in Denver. And you're seeing how well this group is acclimating.
Bobby King, Nick Siriani was abusive in his praise of Bobby King today. A real experienced
linebackers coach. And that's something the needles haven't had in the past. And you see really
the development of Zach Bonn, the development of Nicoby Dean. I think Bobby King deserves a lot of
credit there. Clint Hurd has been a coordinator in this league before. He's called plays. He's run
defenses. He's done a good job with that rotation on the defensive line. And as you talk about
these guys, one thing that jumps out and really compares to last season is the experience of the
group. Take away the age of Christian Parker. Every one of those guys has been a position coach in
the league before. And that's not to say you shouldn't give someone a first chance. But last year,
the Eagles didn't have position coaches who, who had that type of experience. And part of that
is because they were replacing their secondary coach and their linebackers coach
after the Super Bowl, the hiring cycle is kind of up by then.
But this year, the Eagles got an early start on it.
And I think they have a much more high quality or a much more experienced staff than they had a year ago.
So, Zach, the Dallas Cowboys made the odd decision to be buyers at the deadline.
What I didn't catch your show yesterday?
What's your general takeaway of the Cowboys decision at the trade deadline?
granted i think it was what a six round pick it wasn't you know all it was a it was a fourth round pick
oh it was a fourth excuse me so they gave up more for mingo than they got for amari cooper odd decision
what you make of it yeah so this is interesting here because you're talking about guy who was a second
round pick a year ago by the by the panthers and so this is a situation where the cowboys are
going based on their college got in report mingo has not been good with the panthers branded the
panthers have had nobody's been good with the panthers and yeah
in the year and a half that he's been there.
And so I don't want to compare to the Jahan Dotson trade in that
Jahan Dotson had a little more production in the NFL than Mingo did.
But when you acquire someone who's on a rookie deal,
it was a high pick in this relatively short window that he's been in the league,
oftentimes you're saying,
all right,
this is a guy that we really like coming out.
And for this circumstance or for that circumstance,
he hasn't played to his potential,
but he can be more here.
Now, in Philly,
that hasn't been the case with Dodson.
If you look at the Cowboys, they've always liked these height, weight, speed wide receivers.
That's that that's kind of a prototype that they've liked the draft.
And, you know, I think that if you looked at it like Mingo had a low first round grade
or high second round grade on your board a year ago and now you get them for a fourth,
I still think that that price is too high relative to the market value elsewhere in the league.
I don't know who you were bidding against, but that's probably the rationalization or the justification for it.
Zeevi, you mentioned Jahan Dotson in that answer.
And I got to say, I've been looking at Washington's remaining schedule.
And it's easy.
It's not that hard.
And they clearly, like, whatever you think of them, I know they have a couple of blowout wins.
They have not been quite as impressive the last few weeks, but they just take care of business every single week.
They make probably the biggest move of the trade deadline yesterday.
And as a team that the Eagles are going to face in, you know, a little over a week now, what do you make of Marshawn Latimore?
coming over there.
Huge acquisition.
And I give credit to Washington for not just sitting there and saying, you know, they have these
picks, they have these young players.
Washington has a window right now, right?
I mean, if Jayden Daniels keeps us up, they're seven and two, they can make some noise.
And look, I think Eagles were the more talented team than Washington.
I think Eagles are the better team.
But I would say that those two games next, next Thursday, and then later on, what is it,
December 23rd, September 22nd, late December, right around the game before Christmas.
That's how I know.
And those two games, that's going to determine the NFCs, right?
And, you know, if the Eagles can sweep Washington, they'll be in the driver's seat.
If they split, a lot depends on what you do elsewhere.
If they lose twice to Washington, the Eagles aren't winning the division, right?
So, you know, it seems weird to say when the Eagles have this huge game in Dallas this weekend,
that really the entry comes four days later against Washington.
But the entry comes four days later against Washington
because the Eagles are heavy favorites.
They should beat Cooper Rush and the Cowboys,
even though they haven't won there since 2017.
But I think that Washington game is going to be fascinated.
Is this going to be weird?
I mean, again, I don't think you've been in the locker room yet this week,
but just the general lack of juice for an Eagles Cowboys game,
considering the state of the Cowboys
and really how well the Eagles have played over the past few weeks.
Yeah, you know, now the Eagles, like I said,
they struggle down there.
So it's still a big division game.
And I think when you speak to,
when I speak to Lane Johnson
and the offensive lineman today,
they'll be talking about C.
Michael Parsons and that group.
But yeah,
when you don't have Dak Prescott on the field,
when there are questions about C.D. Lambs' health,
it doesn't have the same juice.
Now, now, that said, Cooper Rush was,
well, he was four and one as a starter a few years ago.
I mean, the Eagles played well against him.
I wouldn't be beat.
Yeah, exactly.
So I would explain.
I expect Eagles to go down there and win that game, but I've seen some fluky things in this
division.
That's funny.
I was just going to ask you, Zach.
I have like a 5% portion of my brain that is reserved for hoagy mouth takes and mouth
breathers.
And that portion is saying more than 5%.
All right, seven and a half percent.
That portion is saying I'd almost rather face Dak Prescott.
Yeah.
Yeah, I strongly disagree with you.
Can you kill that portion of my brain for me?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
look I I I mean by by like my my approach to this is I never dismiss anyone's opinion right like you're no I mean they say it just say yeah actually mean it yeah yeah I never want to go into it and say like I I I know more than you or anything like that but like I I mean that Crescott's a darn good football player and I and you don't see back by this and gover rock and Scott but to your point but to your point but to your point
To your point, teams can kind of modify a game plan sometimes when you don't have your starting quarterback.
And you can either simplify things or you can be less aggressive sometimes.
And when you're at a talent disadvantage, which I think the Cowboys are going to be at this weekend, especially with missing players.
Sometimes when you can muddy up the game, if you will, then it can change things.
Now, this is the thing.
The Cowboys don't really have a running game to hang your hat on.
So it be one thing, if this was in the past when you're looking at Tony Powell,
or a younger Ezekiel Elliott.
I haven't seen enough from Rico Dowdle this year or Dalvin Cook to say,
all right, if the Cowboys lean on that, then they're going to beat the Eagles.
Yeah, I hear you.
All right, Zach, we'll let you go to practice.
We're going to be following your tweets.
We'll probably read some in show here.
If we see A.J. Brown, any final guesses as to A.J. Brown's status this weekend.
Any sort of gut feeling?
Well, so I spoke to someone the other night who, you know,
was saying day to day, right?
Now that doesn't mean Sunday,
but it means it's not a long-term injury.
I think that I'll have a better idea in like an hour.
It would be surprising to me if he's doing a lot of work today.
But I think this is one that could come down to the wire this week,
but I would expect him on the field next,
or I shouldn't say expect.
I'm thinking he'll be on the field Thursday against Marshawn Lidingmore.
Okay. All right.
there he is Zach Berman.
Make sure you're reading them on all p.hly.com.
Of course,
and we'll be following your tweets from practice.
Thanks for joining, Zach.
Thanks, guys.
Talk to you soon.
See ya.
Yeah, I kid about the Cooper Rush thing,
but it's almost like,
I bet against the Browns last weekend
because sometimes the NFL's weird, right?
Like sometimes you get those emotional backup
quarterback situations.
The first game with the backup.
The first game with the backup always just gives me a little bit of like,
uh, first game with the new coach.
There's a new coach.
bump too when he gets fired.
Yeah.
And James obviously came crashing.
Back to reality.
Back down to that.
Yeah.
So getting Cooper rushed right away.
Yeah, he was good for them a few years ago.
Obviously, he ran into a bussaw Eagles team at the end of it.
But four and one, you know, like...
I mean, if you get four and one in five games from a backup quarterback, it's a damn good success.
I know the feelie for Bo is being enacted the entire year, but I would also call that
the feely being four and one for a competitive team at any point of the season.
True.
So for the rest of the show today, Vinic Curry is going to join us at 240, and you got Rich and I through that.
And we're going to get into the greatness that is Saquan Barkley right after we tell you about some of our friends.

So every Wednesday we get to get together here on the Eagles show.
And, of course, we're presented by our friends at Bet365.
Find out why it's never ordinary.
at Bet 365.
First we get to kind of recap the game from the weekend.
And then we get to turn the page kind of officially here as we look towards Dallas week.
That game I got home from the postgame show.
And I was just like my head was spinning.
And I just couldn't help but think about how wild of a game that was.
Between Jahan Dotson's catch, Sequin Barkley leaping people, Jalen Hertz's play,
two linebackers getting I NTs.
It was like the M1 mixtape tour.
Yeah.
I was like somebody should have been on the mic
yelling exposed him.
Like the stuff they were doing
was unbelievable.
It was wild.
It was just truly a bizarre game.
I don't want to say the Eagles were lucky to come out victorious
because they certainly.
I played them on a play by play basis.
Yeah, doubled their offensive output.
The fumble play and return for a touchdown.
Like that was replaying in my mind.
I still think like they kind of got it right, but also very wrong at the same time.
You're with Bow and Fran on this?
You guys are crazy.
I think they're more wrong than right.
But like I think by definition on.
I think they're 100% wrong.
I don't understand.
I'm like 80% wrong, 20% like I kind of understand where they were coming from, even though I think it's mostly wrong.
I just don't get this.
The guy touched the back of his cap.
I know.
He takes one more step that hits the ground and then he falls to the ground.
I know.
And he's down,
he's not down by contact?
That's been down by contact my entire life.
I know,
I don't understand it.
That one was like pretzling my brain.
And the way I would put it,
Jamie is like,
so if Sequin got back up and ran for a touchdown,
there's no way they would have let him.
I pose that to the guys and everybody kind of looked at me like,
well,
oh,
there's no way they would have let him do that.
Yeah.
Okay,
that's,
that's one thing.
So regardless,
it was just a weird and wild game from so many different levels.
Your overall take is right,
I would say.
And it was just,
it went from zero.
to 100 like that.
Yeah. It was so crazy. Honestly,
once Jalen runs in
to make it, what was it, 22-0,
because of course they didn't get the two-point conversion.
And then that's a whole other element of the game.
It's like selective aggression.
And then you like, I used Jake Elliott for two and a half hours.
And then you're like, oh, yeah, go kick a 57-yarder.
Like, there was so much just weird dynamics to that game.
By the way, every time Sequin does a weird thing around the first down marker and
doesn't realize where it is, like,
every time he does that, we have to make peace with the fact that
Nick Siriani is going to roll snake eyes.
Whatever he decides to do it.
They're not going to run a good play.
It's going to be third and short, fourth and short.
And whatever he decides to do, whether that's throw Jake Elliott out there for a 55-yard
or go for it.
It's not going to work whether he's actually running the tush push,
whether he runs a ridiculous rollout.
It's not going to work.
So, Sequin, you need to stop doing it.
Yeah.
And that brings us like, so, you know, I'm sitting there and like I digest
all the wildness of the game.
And like the thing that just kept coming back to my head was the Saquan Barkley play.
I still, I've probably watched it 57 times.
I still can't believe that happened.
And I saw one of the coolest videos yesterday online and we're going to get into all the accolades that Saquan has accomplished so far.
But I thought one of the coolest videos was the teammates' reactions to the play.
There was one on the field where Lane Johnson and Jalen Hurd.
Jalenhurtz smiled and he actually laughed in a game.
That's how you know it was.
That's how dynamic a play it was.
When you get him to a moat in the middle of a game like that.
Yeah.
And then you saw the angle of the sideline and we're going to share it with you just because it's very joyous.
And I think Jordan Davis and Reed Blankenship in Dallas got it also pretty good.
But here's the reaction of the sideline.
They also can't believe what they just saw.
George Davis
Reed Blankenships
like the Kevin McAllister
like oh my God
yeah it was just really cool to see guys
that have seen everything on a football field
react like a seven-year-old kid again
I think it works too because Jordan Davis
and Reed Blankenship are just so different
their sizes are different
Reed kind of looks like a little kid
Jordan Davis is huge
huge but also looks like a little kid
but they're still having the same reaction
it was it was unbelievable
And there's another good video that the Eagles put out yesterday where it's, it's a Kobe Dean's reaction to it.
Yeah.
It starts with him and Jalen Carter.
Is he the one saying they got to put that in Madden?
No, well, no, Zach Bonn.
Okay.
But it's basically, it traces the Kobe Dean first just reacting to it with Jalen Carter just like, I can't believe what he just did.
And those guys are basically falling over themselves.
And I got to say, Jalen Carter has had some of the greatest highlights I've seen over the past couple years for his position.
So for him to react like that, like, wow, that's crazy or whatever.
But then Nikovi starts talking to Zach Bonn.
And by the way, Zach Bonn, if he wants to help me out with the newsletter every week,
he was making some great great Odell's catch.
Like the great one-handed catch O'Dell made.
I was in the Sunday night football trucks for that game.
I was up in the Meadowlands working that game when O'Dell made.
Yes, I believe it was.
And when O'Dell made that, I mean, at the time, it was like the greatest play I'd ever seen in the NFL.
Since then, now you get wide receivers, you know, making similar play.
Eagles Devante.
Yeah.
I was in the truck and the trucks just erupted.
It was unbelievable.
Like people,
and I would imagine the production crew trucks erupted when Seyuan Barclay did that.
What do we have here from Zach Berman?
Oh, is this a little update, Julia?
Big news for the Eagles.
A.J. Brown and Dallas Goddard are both practicing.
Good stuff right there.
Honestly, when you get the day-to-day designation, that's so much better than week-to-week.
Week-to-week basically means like, you might see them.
a little over a month.
Week to week is so bad.
So there is Zach's tweet.
He just left the show.
He's out on the field and Dallas got it returning is huge.
A.J. Brown.
He's photography skills as well.
Yeah, it's not a bad picture there, Zach.
He's done worse.
I believe he took an Apple photography class during the offseason.
Oh.
Do I, did I make that up?
I think he went to an Apple store and took like a pointers class on taking pictures.
I think they offered like one of those.
I'll have to text him and find out, but I think I remember him telling me that.
Because he got roasted so bad for the Sean DeSypick last year.
Oh, yeah.
He's like, you know, I'm always trying to improve my game.
I got to be better.
Number one, I believe that.
But I also didn't know that.
But I also didn't know those existed.
Yeah, I think they do it for like me moms and papas out there to like catch up.
It's like in the Apple store?
Yeah, I think they do like introductory classes.
And I think there might be a photography one as well.
And I think they're free.
I believe.
Don't quote me on that, but I think so.
You can do it in the back corner by the iPads.
They have a little projection screen up and they're like, hey, if you want lighting it.
Yeah, so don't cool.
I got to learn more.
Yeah, we'll have to dig into that.
I think Zach did do that.
But Sequin Barclay, you know, I'm sitting there Monday morning.
I wake up and then you're like, wow, that was such a weird game.
Eagles won.
That's really cool.
They've won four in a row.
Momentum is on their side.
And then you see the Dak Prescott news.
The thing I just kept coming back to was Seekwan Barkley is real and he is magnificent.
I mean, that's one of the greatest plays I've ever seen.
Ever.
The spin move alone would have been like a highlight real play.
And then he doubles down on it with a reverse butt jump.
With a jute too as well.
I mean, the juk before, he makes the guy miss.
Yeah.
Spin move.
I mean, as Fran said on the postgame pot, he's like,
he made three insanely athletic moves in the span of like one and a half seconds.
Yeah.
And the reverse squat jump, it felt like a wrestling move.
You're a little bit, I'm a wrestling new.
Didn't somebody used to have like a jump off the top rope,
like kind of butt bomb where they would go backwards?
Am I making this up in my head?
I call it a butt bomb.
I'm still as much of a noob as you are.
Okay.
Because I don't really know what the move is.
Maybe we'll have to ask Vinny Curry about that coming up at 240.
Oh yeah, the butt bomb.
Yeah.
So, that's a great move.
He did win offensive player of the week for the NFC.
Again, the second Eagles offensive player to win it in the,
to win three offensive player of the weeks in the same season since Michael Vick in 2010.
Player of the week awards, by the way.
So stupid.
I hear you,
but like there's not a lot.
There's only 17 games.
Do you get a trophy?
Like, is there a shelf in Sequin's maybe Man Cave downstairs his trophy room where he's,
he's got all of these NFC offensive player of the week?
Is it the FedEx Air and Ground Awards?
Is that what it is?
Oh, I think you're dating yourself with those.
Oh, is that way out of date?
That feels like, yeah.
There's no sponsorship attack to them.
I mean, there might be, but I haven't heard that in a while.
The air and grounds are dead.
I guess they aren't.
I don't know.
We'll have to look into that.
But I wouldn't be surprised if there's a little like locker or, you know, figure or something.
And then to put in perspective, historically how good Seguan has been rich.
This is courtesy of John Gnude down at the Eagles PR.
The most scrimmage yard by an NFL player through eight games in their first year with a team.
Adrian Peterson leads the group in the 2007 Vikings.
he had 1,242 yards after eight games.
Then it's Eric Dickerson in 83 with the Rams,
Billy Sims in 1980 with the Lions,
Marshall Falk with the 99 Rams,
greatest show on turf.
That's from the past.
I know.
And then Saquan Barclay, fifth,
most yards through eight games with a new team.
This signing by Howie Roseman, A plus plus.
Like, it's unbelievable how much talent this Eagles team has
on the offensive side of the ball.
It's frankly scary.
And now that Jalen seems to have cleaned up his play, improved the turnover rate, all of that.
I'm kind of getting into the hype a little bit here that like, you know, Detroit's in its own class,
but there's no reason you can't be second right behind them.
I felt great about the game.
Honestly, so I was obviously nervous as you know what.
Sure.
When Jacksonville was driving at the end of the game and I was like, are we seriously going to have to talk about Nick Siriani?
all those moves backfiring.
Although I do agree with, you know,
Zee and Boe have kind of talked about.
I did not think this was as bad
as some of his other games.
I think it was in practice,
destructive because every movie made backfired.
But I also understood a bunch of them.
But like, it just would have been such a stupid game to lose.
I guess my main point, though, is Jamie.
I think he made enough right decisions
where I can look and say,
all right, they found a way to avoid the super stupid loss.
And what I care about is unlike last year
on a play-by-play basis,
they dominated that football game, right?
And some of it is that, as you said, Sequin, but also Devante, also that Dotson catch.
I mean, the Dotson catch was wild.
Well, it was also wild because it was more yards than he had contributed in the first seven games.
Yeah.
So, yeah, that's bad, but nice play.
Yeah.
The Devante catch just.
Freakish.
Otherworldly body control.
And I mean, you just look at this and Jalen obviously plays a, I thought he was holding it a little bit too long at the start of the game.
but he's getting into a rhythm
that was obviously a very nice throw.
He made the throw on the deep crosser to Devante as well.
Beautiful throw as well.
You know, and you just kind of look at it and say,
man, you got a lot of talent on this team.
And then you have, you know, the defense, right?
You have Cooper DeGine and Quinny Mitchell.
You have the two linebackers.
What a game for Zach Bonn.
And then great moment for Nacoboey at the end.
Nikobe who I think all of us have been rooting for.
Sure.
But just has not quite shown it.
and he really hadn't shown it through like halfway through training camp this year,
just didn't know if he had it, right?
If he had the ability to cover and play at a high level at linebacker.
So for him to make that play and then celebrate with the fans afterwards,
it was awesome.
So overall, Jamie, I'm like pretty positive about that game.
Sure.
I don't think if you play out that game with both of those teams,
those general levels that they both showed,
I think the Eagles probably win by two touchdowns way more often than not.
It just was crazy that every high leverage play was going against them.
So I feel good.
Yeah.
And to your point about Siriani, I do think fans are at a point where they're kind of looking to hate.
Because to your point, I don't think it was like his worst mismanaged game yet.
When you get a penalty and you get the ball inched up to the goal line and you have the
push push in the bag, like the right play is to go for it there.
So I didn't like mind that stuff.
At the end of the game, they were actually in a scenario where going for two was
the right move and the fans were so
criss-cross mentally that they started booing.
And I was like, I think I said to Bow and Fran.
I was like, no, what are you booing?
This is actually the right time to go for two.
The one disagreement I had was when he had the opportunity to make it a two-score
game with the field goal on the fourth and three.
And they pulled out that cluster F of a play.
That was bad.
That to me was like the one where I was like, dude, take the points.
That was the one that was.
You're making it a two-score game.
Or if you go for it like a better play.
Run the touch push.
one of those two.
You clearly took the
worst of the three options.
Yeah, but to your point,
I do think fans are looking
to hate on Siriani.
And I think the reality is
you have to give him a lot of credit
since the buy week.
Yeah.
Look, I would kind of rather
him just take the,
take the field goal.
Like they,
sorry, the extra point most of the time,
but at least I understand
what he's doing, right?
That has been an unstoppable play,
getting it at the one yard line
and they just,
they stopped it.
Yeah.
And they were in,
in reality, you know, like the review, another aspect of the game in the wildness was,
it was a very poorly officiated game.
Oh, yeah.
Like, he got in.
He got in on the one.
Yeah.
I'm with you.
I'm with you.
So I was wrong.
The FedEx, air and ground players of the week are still a fact.
All right.
I stand corrected.
You made me feel real old there for a minute.
I just voted for Sequin Barkley.
So I would imagine FedEx sends them a little something.
Right?
What?
Like if they win that award, you probably get like the FedEx like,
little truck. Like a model truck? Yeah, you put it in the locker or something. It's like air,
air player of the week. What a rough trophy. I like a little. I'm a little bit of a little bit of, I'm a little
bit of a little bit. Did you get the Hess ones when you're a kid? I never got into them as a kid,
but, you know, they were always a big, yeah. That was a big Christmas. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I like
trinkets. Like those shelves out there with like a bunch of like, a bunch of, you know, like shenanigans,
a bunch of goofy ass on the wall. Like, I kind of like stuff like that. So if I was like,
on and I got a little FedEx ground award of the week.
I'd put it up in the locker.
Yeah.
Yeah.
All right.
We got a lot to get into, and Vinnie Curry is going to be joining us shortly, but let us
take a moment to tell you about some more of our friends here at PHLY.
And that's my friends over at Ace Hardware Home Services.
I have been a devotee of Ace Hardware stores for a long time, because one, you go in there,
not only are they friendly, but they greet you at the door and they say, what do you need help
with. How can I help you today? And if you're unsure about a project you're on taking,
they can basically walk you through every piece of material and tell you how to do the job.
And they're just that neighborhood helpful hardware place. It's so much better than a big box
store. So why wouldn't I trust those same guys? Because you know they're like retired contractors
and guys that are just looking to stay in the game. Well, now you can bring those trusted hardware
folks right to your front door with Ace Hardware Home Services. Whether it's a leaky pipe and air conditioning
issue, maybe a leaky faucet. Two things I don't touch in my house, electric and plumbing.
I go to the pros for there. And that's why I go to ACE Hardwarehomeservices.com.
They can get you started on your next project. They're bringing helpful home, the helpful
you love from the store, now right to your front door. So visit Ace Hardware Home Services
online at ACE Hardwarehomeservices.com to get you started on your next project.
And Jamie, I'm going to talk to you about our friends at Rothman.
Everyone has a specialty they love.
And for some, it's running or gardening.
For others, it's shooting hoops or crossing up a defender.
At Rothman Orthopedics, their physicians are not only specialized in orthopedics and clinical research,
but they are fellowship trained to treat specific areas of the body.
So shoulder, hip, knee, whatever is ailing you, they got you.
Since 1970, their physicians have remained committed to research, innovation,
and minimally invasive procedures to get you back.
to what you specialize in.
Two great things about Rothman, Jamie.
I already mentioned one of them, is that whatever you're dealing with,
they got you.
You know, our friend Devon, he was dealing with an Achilles injury last year,
and he is back to 100% now.
Podcasting, he's a very healthy podcast.
It doesn't exactly need that for podcasting,
but he can do other stuff too.
And the other thing that they offer is that they have locations all over the Delaware Valley,
So wherever you are located, they will be able to take care of you.

Now, Rich, we talked about the defense.
And before we bring Vinny on here in Uno Momento,
Your thoughts on the inactivity of the trade deadline.
I think there was only one real clear area to address with this team, and that was
defensive end.
And my thinking, and we can ask Vinny about this as well, I think Josh Sweat has...
He looks back-ish.
Yeah, kind of resurrected himself over these last four weeks, and I think Nolan Smith has turned
a corner and given them internally some reason for confidence.
So I almost think they're just betting on their own guys more than they are about
going out and acquiring somebody at the deadline.
So I didn't have a problem, is my long answer there of not addressing the trade deadline.
And they're just, they're betting on the back seven, which has been really good, I think.
Which has been phenomenal.
CJ, GJ has probably been the one week spot.
And that's pretty good if he's been the one week spot.
Sure.
And Yvante Maddox, unfortunately, steps on the field for one play last week and they go right at him.
So I would like to see.
He's having a rough going.
Yeah.
And I really like.
I liked him too.
We've been over there.
I feel bad for him.
I'm like, just don't put them out there.
Good player for a long time, versatile,
tough, good tackler,
but he just doesn't have it right now.
And I think somebody mentioned this on the postgame pod.
Like,
just play.
I know Kili Ringo is an outside cornerback.
Sure.
Just put him on the field.
And now that Slay's likely back this week,
Isaiah Rogers or Ringo,
one of them,
or Ricks even, like,
teach them the dot the dime.
Bump Rogers in for a play.
Yeah.
I don't know.
It's got to be one of those.
I'm with you.
The one thing,
I was curious about.
I wrote about this a little bit.
And the newsletter is that our friend,
Shil Kapadia, he said he cited,
I don't, the name of this site is R at BSDM.com.
It's a little bit of a mouthful to say.
Over the last four weeks,
the most run heavy team in the NFL is the Philadelphia Eagles.
Thank you.
They're running the ball over 60% of the time on early downs.
Kind of those neutral downs, first and second down.
And he says it's been.
been a huge change in their offensive approach coming out of the buy.
I guess my question is I feel like you have won.
I feel like the run the ball hoard, run the ball nation, the Hogi Mouse, all those people.
But that can make quarterbacks better was like my bigger point.
Oh, look, look, I'm on board with it.
I don't need a quarterback to throw the ball 47 times a game just for the sake of throwing.
If you can throw the ball 25 times and we'll bring Vinny in here and have the defense on
their heels and take advantage of less throws.
then it doesn't matter.
You know what I mean?
So I'm with you.
But my point is,
if they're going to be this run heavy,
you see multiple times a game
where Sequin, who plays his butt off,
though, you know, he plays four or five plays in a row,
maybe he breaks off a 12-yarder.
He's out of bounds.
He's putting his hand up,
and Kenny Gainwell's coming into the game.
I dread that part,
because Kenny Gainwell is not as good as Sequin.
No.
And I wonder if there was, I don't know,
like the idea of trading for a running back
seems crazy.
No, there's no point.
But what if it was like a sixth or seven
round pick, you know what I mean? Like, because again, I just feel like there is a major drop-off
between. Are you talking about addressing that in the off season or getting like that six or seventh
I'm talking about like trade deadline? Yeah. Okay. I don't know. Like, look, it's, I mean,
it would be nice to have an insurance policy. It wasn't a huge need, but it's certainly like for a team that,
like you said, D-N was probably their biggest need. But also you could talk around that and say,
you know, no one's Smith starting to play a little bit better. They're not playing pretty much. Well,
And then instead of trading for that guy, wouldn't Will Shipley be the better alternative to?
He did have some juice.
He did have a little juice on that run.
Yeah.
Who was the penalty that got called back on?
It was one of the backup lines.
Was it Tyler Steen?
No, I think it was somebody else even.
Okay.
But like to your point, you know, he's a fourth round pick.
Zach Berman always says he's the highest running back they've drafted since Shady.
And Bo agrees with it wholeheartedly.
So maybe you try Shipley out instead of Kenny Gainwell.
I'm very over Kenny Gainwell personally.
But let's bring him in.
He is a Super Bowl champion.
You may have heard of him.
His name is Mr. Getflee on Twitter, and he joins the show now.
Vinny Curry.
Vinny, what's up, man?
What's your fellas?
How are you, buddy?
No, I'm just eating some lunch here.
What was on the menu today, Vinny?
Yeah.
What are we eating?
Man, I had an omelet, a spinach omelet.
Okay.
I don't know where, where.
But in the middle of the day, I had a taste for a spinach omelet.
Now, does Vinny Curry cook?
that'll be a no.
So you got no game in the kitchen?
Any barbecue skills?
Anything?
No game in the kitchen.
I'm just a taste tester.
I'm going to let you know if it's good.
That's great.
Vinny, we were just talking about it.
Sunday night I got home
after doing the post game with you
and just kind of digesting the whole day.
That may have been one of the wildest Eagles games
I can recall in a long time.
When you think about all the individual plays,
bad reviews, two point conversions, field goals,
Sequin jumping over people backwards.
What's the like wildest game you remember playing in?
Like to the point of it,
win and loss is irrelevant, just weird and wild.
Is there one that comes to mind for you?
Oh man, right off the back.
No, I don't have one right off, right off the back.
Okay.
If one comes to you, let us now.
No, no, you know what?
Maybe women when we went down to Washington,
when Chip first year, and we, we, like, blew the doors off the mat first.
Oh, yeah.
Next thing you looked up, the goddamn gang was so close.
I'm like, so what's going on right now?
Yeah, Michael Vick had like four touchdowns in the first half.
But I was crazy.
Yeah, it was crazy.
Then the next thing you know, Washington had caught up.
And then I was like the first time that the defense is playing like 97, 98 play.
It was something crazy.
Like, wait, what?
Like, you play like two NFL games than one that day.
That was crazy.
You're right, Vinny.
Everybody remembers the offensive fireworks,
but I'm pretty sure you guys had to recover an onside kick to win the game at the end.
Yeah, that game was crazy.
Yeah.
Because we were so excited, like, emotionally, like how fast they were scoring.
But then next thing you know, you look up and it was like, yo, this game,
how this game gets so tight?
Like, what happened?
Like, it was crazy.
But as far as that game on Sunday, I mean, if you was there, you definitely got your money's worth.
Yeah.
It just went from kind of, I don't want to call it boring, but I was kind of,
putting my feet up a little bit at the beginning of the second half jalen runs in it's like all right
this is a great boring win they just dominated them i know i know i know i left i left a little early to
come you know what i mean to come to the studio and i said i'll get there early see the guys a little and
then i'm looking i'm like okay that fumbled okay what's about to happen and then it was just so
quiet in there what's like yeah we had the barbecue viny and we all just kind of looked at each other like
oh oh no what just happened and it just got
quiet and weird.
But I tell you what, though, like, those are the games that you have to finish because
the way they start, and that's the, you know, you want to take a, if you want to take a positive
out that game, that's how I felt.
I'm like, you know what?
They understand got to finish in this league.
They understand the finish.
You know, too close for comfort.
Damn, too close for comfort.
But, you know, the way they finish and the excitement throughout that whole game was a little,
was a little crazy.
Oh, I'm with you.
I still feel really good about the team.
Like it's just avoiding that almost terrible loss, right?
And you can look back and say, well, we still did a lot of good things in that game,
whether it was the offensive fireworks.
The thing I wanted to ask you about,
part of the reason the game was boring was in the first half,
the defense pitched basically a shutout.
Like they were not moving the ball at all against them.
What stood out to you about the defense?
And frankly, like, you know, one of those touchdowns comes on that freak play
where Sequin fumbles.
I don't actually think.
he was, I think he was down.
But for the most part, defense, really
dominant effort. What stood out to you?
Oh, man.
Cooper, like,
I just think everybody played together.
You know what I mean? Like, Nicole Deen had
a good game, great game, first half.
And the defensive line play was crazy.
Guys took advantage of their one-on-one
matchups. You know,
Jenner Carter was getting
double, and it was the way
leaving guys on the island, and guys was actually
winning their one-on-one matchups.
that's what we're used to seeing as
Philadelphia's. We're used to seeing guys
when they're one-on-one matchups, and that's
exactly what you saw. It was
a crazy game. I'm not sure
if you watched the
remember last week when we talked up a little bit
about
Trouble Lawrence, a little bit,
we said that he's a deep-setter.
He's going to try to, you know, extend the play
and things like that. Guys took advantage
of the scouting report,
and I just think he just ran into a defense
you know that vick got these guys playing at a hundred miles an hour and they're just hunting man
and i'm here for it yeah viny and one of the reasons i think uh the eagles didn't make a move
for a defensive end help yesterday is that they're betting on their own guys and you've been
talking about it what you've seen from nolan smith over the past couple weeks josh sweat
looks like he's back at a rate um you know that looks like his old self again and jaylix hunt even
They're talking about is really performing well behind the scenes and might get more of an opportunity here.
Do you do buy that's the reason what that they didn't upgrade that they believe they have in-house what they need?
Absolutely.
Well, I think for sure two things, two things, two things.
Now, I do think the secondary is playing unbelievable football.
Yeah.
Which is allowing the rush to be themselves and get there and get close and sniffing.
the quarterback. Now I mean, so, you know, I want to just give, you know, that back in and
them linebackers, you know, they flowers right now. Yeah, I don't think it's a coincidence
that turned the corner since Cooper DeGine went in the starting lineup. You know, it just
look like a whole different, I don't want to say team, but it's just like a different sniff
of energy, different stink there. Guys are like, you know, they wanted a little bit more.
Guys are playing fastest hell out there. And I think that has a lot to do with it, where
You know, when you get to the trade deadline, you're looking and you're looking around,
looking at your talent, like, wait, hold on, we got something here.
These last four games, they don't put out defensively, has been really, really good tape.
So, you know, I'm thinking that's probably what he was thinking at the deadline.
Vinnie, the team released some videos of the defensive players reacting on the sidelines to Sequin's reverse hurdle.
Now, I don't think we've ever seen that move pulled in a game, but were there,
any ever moments when when you were playing for the defense, whether it was Shady or Deshaun or
somebody where they just they pulled off some crazy move, Vic, you know, somebody like that,
that really kind of, you know, the defense just started laughing to themselves on the sidelines.
Oh, absolutely. I mean, every time Shady got the ball is one of those, let me get up real
quick, you know, you get right? Well, you just knew something amazing was going to happen.
But even a catch, we were talking about the catch like that.
There's been some crazy catches this week.
The one catch that stood out to me was we're at Tampa.
Do you remember this?
Nick Folds Throw it to Jason.
Oh, yeah.
Vought catches that thing.
Right at the sidelines.
And that was like, like to see that lives and be right there.
And the way we won that game was crazy.
So I'll definitely see some amazing, some amazing stuff from my teammates.
So one of the amazing things from last weekend, Vinnie, was two linebackers for the Eagles had interceptions in the same game.
The last time that happened was the pickle juice game for the Eagles back in the day, Dallas Week.
Dallas Week, you grew up a Byrds fan.
It probably means a little more to you than a lot of the guys in the locker room.
But what's your first kind of gut reaction when you hear it's Dallas Week in Jerry's world?
man i already know what was being said in that building is
Dallas week
it's like a roll call
you know road call
here here here you know
you know how this is man it's vibravery game
and then of course you know they try to
they try to make an excuse before the game even happened
like nah don't say that we we
y'all look right now hey that that's not our problem
I feel like, yeah, I mean, the Eagles have struggled the last few years there, but during, during your run, you guys had some pretty great moments there, like winning the division in 2013.
I think the Thanksgiving game in 2014, you beat the crap out of them in that one.
Is it, I mean, obviously, like, it's probably a pretty unique stadium to play in just because it's so big in all those things.
But what's that like?
It's the atmosphere, man.
It's the atmosphere.
Like, you know, when Dowhard, Eagle fans meet Die Hard Dallas fans, some crazy
issue going to happen, you know, you look in the stands, you see all type of fights,
all type of craziness going on.
They're like, God, damn, how are you not letting?
You know, when we have rather beefed it right here right now?
So, oh, man, and the way the birds are rolling, especially defensively, and we're coming
into the, coming into the season, they didn't talk about the Eagles defense the way we should
be talking about it.
And now it was about Dallas defense.
So I'm interested to see, you know,
us step up to the plate and see if we can push a pitch of shut out.
So Vinnie, one of the weird things in the NFL,
and you kind of saw it with the Browns and James Winston two weeks ago,
the backup quarterback getting the first start.
There seems to be like an emotional, I don't know, buy in or teams perform well
in a backup quarterback's first games, I feel like.
And then there's like a comeback to reality moment in the second game.
What is it about facing a team in a back?
up quarterback, whether from a defensive standpoint or just the locker room standpoint, is it,
is it every guy just knowing that they have to bring their A plus game if there's any,
any chance or what, can you pinpoint it?
Yeah, that's funny you bring it up.
Man, you know, I've been seeing a lot of that go across the bird.
I mean, go across the league lately, but everybody want to, want to be like the birds, man.
Who started that thing, man?
Coit Dettmer?
No, no, you know, no, no, I'm talking about.
like the real run of it where the next man mentality of let's go down foes take over
foes goes to the promise land you know so you know everybody wants to rally around the backup
a little bit more because you know they want for encouragement but they're not pulling wool
our eyes man we're going to go over russia ain't that guy no no vic had those guys ready
Yeah. And hopefully they can get it over with FAST because they got a quick turnaround that next week. So, and we do too. I think we're going to be doing Tuesday that week. So I am kind of skipping ahead here, Vinny, but I guess just like as a player who gets pretty used to, all right, you play one Sunday, you play the next Sunday once in a while. You'll play on Monday night football. How did, how was Thursday night football in terms of just getting ready for that game on such a short turnaround?
Oh, man.
So that's just credit to the front office.
So, you know, they got guys that come around,
that will break the film down before, you know,
you get a little glance at it,
but you got to stand the task at hand.
But the turnaround is all about recovery.
Recovery and the mental game,
when you have a quick turnaround like that.
So it becomes very, very mental.
How is the physical turnaround, though?
Oh, you got to fight through that.
thing. You better have a masseuse. You better have a masseuse or you better have a lot of recovery
regiments ready to go because at the end of the day, when that, when they turn, what, 820 is the
game? Yeah, when that 820 comes, there, nothing else matters, but coming home with the W.
Is there a small part of the locker room that might actually, you know, while that Monday,
Tuesday, Wednesday might suck? Is there a part of the locker room that goes, hey, we got a little
mini buy here 10 days. We can actually have a weekend off with the family, watch some football,
and just kind of be normal a little bit, or does that not really enter your mind?
No, not not in November. You ain't thinking about that.
You know what I mean? Yeah. Man, you're trying to get to the playoffs. And you really want to
be racing to a shot to having that by week too, you know what I'm saying? And winning the
division. That's the only thing that should be on in mind right now because these next two games
are very, very, very important. All right, Vinnie.
So it's the last time we'll see you before Sunday, Eagles, Cowboys.
What's your prediction?
What do we got here in the Curry Lab?
Okay, okay.
I think I'm going to go, I'm going to go, I'm going to go 287.
287, a bloodbath.
I love it.
That would be awesome.
I'm going to go 287.
And Seekwon keeps it going, I assume.
Why don't you hit the people on the way out?
I'm going to go by three touchdowns.
Listen, man, they got, if you look at it,
you know, how the Dallasman
defending a run, I was,
it's like, wow!
Whoa!
Love it.
Vinny, great stuff as always, man,
and we will see you on Sunday for birds,
Cowboys.
All right, thank you guys, man.
Thank you, fellas.
Enjoy the rest of your day.
You too, buddy.
See you.
See you.
There he is.
Vinny Curry.
And I forget who it was,
K. Redd or somebody in the chat said,
Vinny Curry just elicits joy.
He is a very joyous person.
I would agree.
Yes.
It's a fascinating watch watching Eagles games with him.
It's very, and now he starts to feel like, because he's looked at me a couple times and been like, man, is this, is this how you all feel every week when you're watching us?
And I'm like, yeah, man, it's an emotional roller coaster.
It's like that meme.
I got to show them the meme of, oh, cool, my football team is playing a game.
Oh, kill me.
Oh, cool.
They won.
I'm like, yeah, welcome to my world, Vinny.
It's not easy.
It's probably much less nerve-wracking when you're allowed to hit people.
Yeah.
And you're playing half the snaps.
Yeah, absolutely.
But it should be a good one this weekend.
So it's the running backs matter bowl, man.
Yeah.
I cannot believe how bad the Cowboys rushing attack is.
I mean, I can believe it because they resigned Zeke after that year in New England.
Dalvin Cook, you're bringing in.
The last time, they seriously went into the season with Zeke.
As I don't know, was he their starter or was it Dowdell?
Yes, I mean, they thought Dowdell was going to give him a run, I guess, but like at best, a platoon.
Two years ago, the last thing they did was Zeke was have him line up as the center in that thing.
That felt like that should have been.
That was the funniest NFL play ever.
End of his Cowboys.
And then they just run him back.
And then they have Dalvin Cook.
I love it when national NFL writers, they'll show like Dalvin Cook, like, working out in his home gym.
And like, obviously, like, he's in better shape than the average.
But they use that as evidence, like, big sign and coming up.
He's throwing a medicine ball in his home gym.
Even though he's been watched for a long time.
Yeah.
So it is Dallas Week.
And I saw this stat, I think crossing rod or somebody put this out.
The last couple quarterback matchups between these two teams have been some odd stuff.
Going back to November of 2020, you had Carson Wentz versus Ben Danucci.
And part of my Cooper Rush fear is that I remember the.
Ben Danucci game and you just kind of, I don't know, it was like that weird feeling going into it.
Then you had Jalen Hertz versus Andy Dalton, the red rifle. I think I forgot about that.
It's a Dallas beat down. Yeah. And then you had Jalen Hertz versus Dak Prescott. That was normal.
Another Dallas beat down. And then in 2022, you had Gardner Minshew versus Dak.
Then you had Jalen Hertz versus Cooper Rush. And then you had Gardner Minshew versus Dak again.
And then the last two, last year was normal.
You had Hertz versus Prescott in both games for the first time.
It's just weird that Eagles Dallas, even though those quarterback matchups have undoubtedly been weird.
It's weird that this is not the premier matchup in the NFC East this year.
No, it's Commander's Eagles.
Yeah.
By a large margin.
Washington and the Giants have been.
Washington has that once every four years, five years where they sneak in and it's a good team.
Obviously the COVID year.
Like the commanders winning the division during the COVID year, that was perfect for them.
Like they just, and they lost in the first round of Tampa, I think, too.
Like, that's what they do.
They win the division.
They sneak through during a bad year and then they lose in the playoffs in the first round at home.
But like the commanders and the giants have been bad franchises for a long time here.
And it's been, you know, as much as you want to make fun of Jerry and he's having a rough year right now.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
I don't know what is going on with them.
They've done a good job with their roster for a long time
where it's been them and the Eagles kind of neck and neck
trading blows.
I mean,
when's the last time the Eagles won a game in Jared World?
Was it,
I think it's 2017.
I think it was the Super Bowl season.
Wow.
I remember Amari Cooper has a big game in 2018.
Oh, yeah.
I think he also,
I played him in fantasy that week and it was like doubly like awful for me.
Yeah, it is always a little weird down in Dallas.
But I think my confidence level is kind of like supreme going into this game.
the Eagles are just clicking right now
and Fran and Bo have given me the honor
in the post game show Rich of
being the president of the Quinion Mitchell
fan club and I love hearing a defensive end
give credit to the secondary
because sometimes it's a little
I don't want to say contentious because they're a team
but it's always like well no we create better coverage
on the defensive end and then it's like
the secondary guys are like no we create time for you
to get sacked so it's always like that tug of war a little bit
Fran will say it's always a marriage of the two
yes it's a marriage is somewhere in the middle
like a lot of issues.
But Quinyon Mitchell has been phenomenal.
And I say that not like being a film grinder and watching the All-22.
I say that because I don't hear his name ever when I watch a game on Sunday.
You watch an Eagles game and you will be lucky to hear Quinyan Mitchell's name.
Unless he's involved in a near interception.
And I want to read these numbers from you.
This is courtesy of Anthony DeBona, DeBona NFL on Twitter.
Eagles rookie quarterback, Quinyon Mitchell, has played against five of the top 15 wide receivers in receiving yards this season.
Here is how he performed head to head using PFF's metrics.
Jamar Chase, two receptions on two targets for 16 yards.
Jaden Reed, two receptions on two targets for 59 yards.
Brian Thomas Jr., zero targets.
That man was in prison.
Chris Godwin, zero targets, prison, Malik neighbors, one reception on two targets for nine yards.
Quinion Mitchell also held Drake London to one reception on two targets for five yards.
And Mike Evans, who is undoubtedly going to be in Canton, Ohio one day, two receptions on four targets for 19 yards.
And not only that, he got in his face and he smack talk the Hall of Famer.
I love this kid.
Him and Cooper Gene together.
I mean, we're talking about like a Lido Sheldon,
but better combination in one year.
What they did in the draft this year with the cornerback group is frankly unbelievable.
And they're going to reap the benefits of it, not just this year, but for a decade?
Let's be conservative and say at least the next six years, you know, and then we'll see.
We'll see if they keep going.
It really is unbelievable.
By the way, Ronald Darby.
still playing for the Jaguars last week.
When I looked, I
usually look at the R-Lads'
Dep charts before the week just to
try and get a little more acquainted with the team.
But I was watching a London game a few weeks
ago and Darby made a tackle and I was like,
oh man, he's still
really involved with these guys.
I mean, frankly, I didn't even think he played
that poorly. Like he was the one who got beat on
the Devante touch up. He was kind of good cover.
It was an amazing throwing catch. A great throwing catch.
Not much you can do about it.
Anyway.
And then to throw some flowers into the diehards out there,
thank you for joining us.
To throw some final flowers at Vic Fangio's feed here, Rich.
The defensive ranks are really unbelievable.
This is courtesy of Brandon Lee Gouten.
The Eagles defensive ranks.
They're now fifth in success rate.
Fifth in opponents, yards per play.
Sixth in opponents, offensive points per game.
10th in defensive DVOA.
12th in EPA per play.
And that's having, as Brandon points, that's having some bad turnover luck.
Only six teams have had fewer takeaways, ranking as the fourth lowest spending team on defense this season.
Doing more with less equals good coaching.
Vic Fangio has these boys.
They turned a corner after the buy.
They're not missing tackles.
I think more turnovers are going to come.
You're starting to see them coming bunches here.
The defensive turnaround has been.
nothing short of amazing.
We were looking for competency,
and it looks like we're going to get better than that.
And that's a really impressive job by him.
And also, too, I guess it goes to show
when we were talking during the bi-week
about, and you know, on the heels of that Tampa game,
where that was their worst game of the year,
where they just looked completely unprepared.
I think it just goes to show,
Vic Fangio in the first month,
he's lighting that one on fire,
so the rest of the year can be good.
The man is just a slow starter.
He's not putting anything good on tape.
I'm just kidding.
but there probably is something to,
it takes a little while to pick up whatever.
And I think for both offensive and defensive purposes,
there probably is, you know,
something substantial to that,
a new system in place.
You know, in the offseason,
Jalen Hertz said it was like 95% new terminology
or whatever the quote was.
There probably was a patience degree
with both offense and defense.
And, you know, look, it seems to be paying off.
And, you know,
if you ever want to get into the film grinding
of Fran Duffy's brilliant world,
you should consider becoming a diehard here at PHLY.
There's tons of great benefits, including free merch, invites to our Discord,
discounts on events, and of course the best writers in the city.
And Fran's film work, to me, is worth it alone.
So if you want to support us here at PHLY,
consider becoming a diehard today.
Since we won't see each other until Sunday in Maniunk, by the way,
a reminder, Rich and I will be out at the Rook in Maniunk.
this Sunday, a little watch party.
So you can join us at the Rook and Mannyunk.
It's a great spot.
You can RSVP on all P-H-L-Y.com,
the events tab up top.
You got a free pitcher of Miller Light
and entered into the giveaways we'll be doing.
Looking forward to that.
Looking forward to just kind of enjoying it.
I think this is the first Sunday I'm entering
a little stress-free.
I had it to a degree this weekend against the Jags.
It felt really good.
Now I feel like the team's in a great place.
And there it is.
The Rook and Manny-Yunk.
So if you can come out and hang with us this Sunday,
we would love to meet you for the 4 o'clock kickoff.
I'll probably be there around 2.30 or 3.
And we'll hang and have a good time.
Drink some beer, watch the Eagles beat the Cowboys.
Yeah, some Miller Light smoothies on a Sunday before Cowboys Week.
What's better than this?
All right, for Julia Hoff behind the scenes, thank you for Rich Hoffman.
I'm Jamie Lynch.
Zach and Bo are back tomorrow.
I believe Fran is in the saddle with them.
Julie, is that correct?
The three of them tomorrow.
and then, of course, the professor on Friday, Danez, with Zach and Bo.
So we've got you covered all week here at PHLY.
Thanks for hanging out with us today.
And Go Birds!
