Whatever the moment, it's never ordinary at Bet365.
We are here in Studio A to talk about the Eagles announcing themselves as a serious contender.
A stirring come from behind 26 to 18 win in the second half over the Washington commanders.
what a game it was. We have so much to talk about. I am Bo Wolf. That is Fran Duffy, who's going to break it all down. We got Jamie Lynch. And most importantly, on tonight of all nights, the night that he retires officially as a Philadelphia Eagle, you get to feel the adulation of the crowd. We have Super Bowl champion Vinnie Curry, who I know has a lot to say tonight, but maybe starting with one word. Seguan.
Sequin Barclay,
198 yards from scrimmage,
two monster touchdowns in the second half,
and I think not coincidentally,
the first one happened the minute you walked in the door, Vinny.
Right on Q.
Right on Q.
Are you saying Q?
We'll get to hit.
We'll get to hit a little later.
Speaking of Q, rookie of the year,
we're stating it right now.
Unbelievable.
So we have a lot to talk about.
We're going to hear from Zach Berman,
live from The Link,
in a little bit. We're going to hear from Nick Siriani after the game. We're going to hear from
you of the fans. We appreciate everybody who is here in the chat. Let us know what you think about
this game. We have a lot to talk about. The defense was unbelievable. I think their best performance
of the season, given the stakes and the quality of the opponent. We'll talk about that. But let's
start with Sequin because this was a game in which the Eagles offense was struggling. It felt like
they were letting the team down to some degree in the first half, but they kept sort of banging on the
wall and Fran on the the touchdown that put the eagles ahead it was actually before sequoans run that we saw a
couple Kenny gainwell runs that was sort of like the the pounding of the run game had started to
break loose on the commander's defense yeah they ran a couple of plays that we haven't seen them really
run this year they've been staples of the eagle's offense over the last few years and that's the
trap and the wamp play where essentially you're inviting the defensive line up the field and then
you're bringing a blocker from the other side of the formation to earhold the defensive lineman.
And so they ran the trap play first that got Gainwell going on the first long run.
And then the second one, they ran Wham where you got Dallas Goddard come and get the defensive tackle.
So they were able to get Kenny Gainwell up to the second level, got a couple of explosive plays.
And that's set up Sequin Barkley first touchdown.
Jamie, are you feeling as good as you have felt about the Seagull's team since early last season?
Since the early last season.
What was it?
Was it the bills game?
Bill's game.
Yeah.
Probably that was like the high point of last year and then it all fell off a cliff.
So yeah, I think absolutely the best.
My buddies do a golf trip in Florida every year on a championship weekend.
And I have held off buying my tickets.
There you go.
That's how good I feel.
Yeah.
It's interesting.
We can talk about it has been to me the first time in a long time where like definitively the defense is so much more fun to watch than the offense for the Eagles.
Now, I don't know if you feel the same way, Benny, because we know you're a defensive guy.
But I actually do want to start with, we'll get to the full evening later.
But how are you feeling tonight?
Like what an unbelievable evening it must have been for you?
Oh, man, it was surreal.
You know, seeing a lot of, you know, familiar faces, you know, new faces.
It was so surreal, man.
It was like a full circle moment.
It's awesome.
Yeah, it was definitely cool.
You felt the love.
Yeah, yeah, I did.
Thank you, Philadelphia.
Thank you.
And you also got to like watch this game up close down on the field.
What was different for you?
The pass rush.
The pass rush came alive tonight.
No question.
And you can feel them.
You can feel that they was rushing.
Oh, man.
They had off to them.
They played their tails off tonight.
They only finished with three sacks.
But to me, this was easily the best they've looked all season long.
And it was not just one person.
It was all of them.
All of them.
Yeah, Jaden Daniels is going to be sore tomorrow.
Ranney Graham,
showed up. I thought Jalen Carter
dominated the games at points. I think this was
his certainly his best game
since that won. Yeah, Josh
Swett had a beautiful sack that Fran
was salivating over.
Just all, all.
Nolan had a great sack. Nolan Smith was all over
the field. I thought defensive line wise, yeah,
Jaden Daniels was in hell. You could just see that
the way they were firing off the ball early in the
game. We were noticing it during the
watch along just so you're watching those guys
get off the ball. You can tell they just had juice from the
jump. Yeah, I mean, that first, the
first possession they go three now. Bonn makes that nice
diving play. The numbers tell us
this was the worst offensive performance
of the season for the commanders. They came in with
a very good offense. This
defense is so good and so
fun to watch and it's the energy they play with
that. That really stands out. That's how when I
say, man, we just
scored a touchdown. Watch they're going to turn the
ball over for pressing?
Turn the ball over, man.
It was just a good. It was a fun thing to watch
let's like watching fine art
you know, the way the defense is playing.
Yeah, man, they're really doing well because we, I remember,
let's go back all the way back the beginning of the season.
We were like all looking at each other, but then you come out that bye week
and look out as Devis is playing, man.
This is kudos to the players for taking on a challenge.
Kudos to Coach Vic for even putting these guys in position to be successful, man.
It's been fun to watch.
Since the buy, they've been the best defense in football.
Trying to tell you.
It's really impressive.
So Jimmy Kamski just put a graphic out during the sixth game.
winning streak, the Eagles have outgained
their opponents by a thousand and sixty-nine
yards. Wow.
Sounds good. I mean, it's more of a credit to the defense than anything.
Yeah. Because, I mean, when you hold the Giants to like,
what, 165 yards, like they are just shutting teams down.
I know some of those were bad quarterback play, but Jaden Daniels
is not bad. Joe Burrow is not bad.
This defense doesn't care who they're playing
right now. At all. Yeah, and they afford the offense
the... They kept them in this game.
The runway, yeah, to work themselves into the game, right?
I mean, the Eagles offense in this game goes missed field goal, punt, punt, missed field goal, punt, field goal, field goal.
That's their first seven possessions.
You would think in a game of this magnitude that's probably not going to be good enough,
but because the defense was so good, even better, punt than the one touchdown drive,
then punt, punt, punt, and then a field goal drive.
And a lot of those are three and out drives too.
Like, the defense is playing at such a crazy high level.
boy shut down Terry McLaren tonight.
He had one catch for 10 yards and it came not against Quignon Mitchell.
Scary Terry was scared because they sent him to the right side of the field to get the
hell away from Quinyon prison.
Look, I just looked it up real quick.
No Eagles players ever won a rookie of the year.
Offensive or defensive side of the ball.
Interesting.
I know Jared Versus is having a great year for the Rams.
I know he is.
But Quinyon is going up against Premier, Premier, top end NFI.
receivers and putting them in prison every single week.
This dude could very well be, hopefully, the first rookie of the year they ever have in Eagles
Green.
We've got to campaign it for them, man.
We're starting it right here.
The whole country watch.
You move the needle.
You make it happen.
Yeah, man.
You know, people, let's spread the word.
A little tweet here.
Yeah.
About 2,000 retweets off that thing, man.
This man, the rookie of the year, man.
But isn't that kind of unbelievable?
No rookie other year.
It is very interesting.
That is interesting.
the Vinny
like magic
tonight extended beyond
Sequin to after they get
they take that lead
you're like
you know Jane Daniel's
probably going to be pressing here and we need a turnover
very next play
Reed Blankenship gets the
gets the turnover.
Yeah man so that's the thing about the young
quarterbacks is playing well
you know when the team goes up
he feels like oh I got to make something
happen right away and I just knew
you know that he would press
And obviously, the defense is very prepared.
You know, preparation, get you get you to that point to be in the right spot and pick off, man.
That was a great interception, by the way.
Great play.
And it came on the heels of what was the moment of this game, right?
It's 12 to 10.
Jake Elliott has missed that extra point after missing two field goals in the game.
So you're starting to be concerned.
The commanders are driving.
A field goal would give them the lead.
A touchdown, obviously, would give them a bigger lead.
they have second and inches and three straight stuffs by the Eagles defense that was that was the moment they won this game right and and they were really really impressive plays yeah i mean look the watching it had success running the football all night you know they got Brian Robinson back in the lineup he's been one of the most efficient runners in the NFL this season when healthy you figure they've got three shots out it they should be able to get inches and the Eagles defensive line gave up no space and then obviously that fourth down play
You get the fumbled snap, but then the pursuit from the to the perimeter from Blankenship and then Zach Bond finishing it.
Just outstanding job from everybody involved.
And I think it was, I think on the third in inches, Jordan Davis makes a great play.
Yep.
Blowing that up.
Did you think that Dan Quinn should have gone for it?
We did the watch along.
Yeah.
I was surprised he went just because he's an older school coach.
I was surprised he went too.
I figured they're going to kick.
I think as an Eagles fan, you probably wanted him to kick.
Yes.
I think that would have been the preference.
So I think that when you're looking at it,
I was surprised,
I was as surprised as you were
than they ended up going for it.
Did anything about that stand?
Jump out to you, Vinny?
Man, you know what?
Like third, fourth, and short.
What's your mentality?
For me, it was 50-50 because he's like,
you won with kick, but then, you know,
when he went for,
it was kind of like, ah, hold your breath type of thing.
Yep.
That could have went either way for me.
If you're on the field in that moment.
What's the mentality on third and fourth and short?
All right now, y'all.
Let's go.
Dig deep, you know what I'm getting ready to come.
But you know at the same time, it's just like if he fall forward the right way,
excuse my language, but yeah.
You held it in.
You did it out.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That was huge.
But at the same time, as an equal fit, the way this defense is playing,
and it's like, all right, let's just get off of that.
It makes something happy.
Sure. I mean, don't you just have so much faith in this defense right now, Jamie?
Yeah, it's actually insane to think about how much, you know, where we were the first four weeks.
And Baker Mayfield and Vinny, you know, came in and was like, I've been talking to people.
They're close. They're about to turn this corner.
Baker Mayfield was just quick hit and I'm quick hitting them.
And you're like, oh, boy, here we go again.
Ever since the buy, it's unbelievable.
And kind of a little PTSD in the first half there.
Yeah, I was talking about, you know, Baker Mayfield was.
just quick hit in this defense and, you know, the pessimistic hoagie mouthing me was like,
oh, no, the Achilles Hill of the Eagles defense has been shown again by the damn
buccaneers.
And ever since the by, they've shured up the tackling.
Everything is different now.
And I was kind of getting a little PTSD there in the first half.
We talked about it at halftime.
It seemed to be a lot of mistackles, both on special teams and defensively in the first half.
And they were still maintaining just allowing the seven points.
And Fran would tell you, I kind of caught him by surprise at halftime with my optimism, though, going forward.
Because I thought the defense earned you that win.
I thought there was no way the offense was going to be that bad again.
This win the night, as great as Sequin was, as great of the rushing attack was in the fourth quarter, the defense won you this game.
Yeah, I agree with that.
I mean, it is interesting, just given the way that we know the Eagles sort of want to build a team,
that this is a team that is built to rely on its defense, let them keep you in the game.
you pound the run with Sequin.
I mean, he had 26 carries tonight plus two catches.
That's 28 touches for him.
Meanwhile, the passing game, it's struggling a little bit right now.
And we can get to that and maybe some of the theoretical reasons for that, Fran.
But it still goes back to, I mean, all those close-up shots of Vic Fangio we saw on the broadcast.
Those very close-up shots.
Like, I don't know.
Like Vic Fangio, if you're going to give like a, give the flowers to anybody,
anybody who's the star of the season right now, it's probably Vic.
Yeah, I mean, I'm excited to see what the overall game plan was just in terms of what was going on in the back end.
But it didn't seem like, I mean, you were there for the first half.
Like third down, it was looked like they were playing basic zone coverage.
Like, you know, nothing crazy from that standpoint.
We didn't see crazy blitzes or anything along those lines.
So they went out and they just out executed Washington in the past game.
You know, obviously they made those run stops late in the game when they mattered most.
I think when you look at this defense,
they've shown the ability to win in different ways,
which I think is impressive.
We've seen the defensive line to show that ability to take over at times.
We've seen that secondary.
If you want to play man to man, if you want to play zone,
however you want to play it,
this team has been up for the challenge.
Jayden Daniels finishes 22 of 32 for 191 yards,
a touchdown and an interception.
So obviously,
not a lot of plays downfield for the commanders.
And we know that you told us all week,
friend,
that they like to take those vertical shots.
Austin Echler had one play for 34 yards on that sort of that broken tackle.
Other than that, the longest completion was 16 yards to Zach Ertz.
Yeah, I'm glad you bring that up because going back to that Tampa Bay game,
I feel like they tried to make their version of the quick game.
And there's been some changes to the secondary.
Cooper!
You know, and I think the pass rush was on tonight.
So some of the windows that they might have seen that they thought could get away with it was strictly locked down and it'll make them hold on to the ball a little longer.
And I don't think they adjusted after that.
Yeah, it's interesting.
This season has been an exercise in patience sort of for us and for Eagles fans because the defense didn't start super great.
No.
Give them some time.
All of a sudden they round into form.
The pass rush.
Maybe it took them a little bit.
longer and maybe now if tonight is an indication they're getting even better and that patience has
allowed the offense within games to sort of get into its own you know get out of its own way
after struggling in the first half which they have more so than the second half maybe if we are
patient enough the the passing game will be the last one to sort of catch up and hit its stride and if that
happens this could be the best team at football yeah you saw the one play where a j brown was
open on the sideline the night. I think there was a little bit of frustration there. Jalen
didn't have his best night. He missed a couple throws. Devante dropped one on the sidelines.
I'm surprised they didn't make more of an effort to get Devante the ball in this game,
given we heard all week that that was maybe a focus. Four catches for 29 yards. That's not enough for
Devante. Yeah. Yeah. The passing game was not in sync tonight. But now you got 10 days off.
Maybe that kind of unofficial buy, you know, they get back to the drawing board.
Maybe Jaylon's been, maybe Jaylon's been more hurt than, you know, he's let on. You know, that slip up
last week by Nick Sierraani still is weird to me.
Yeah, and Jalen in this game got tested for a concussion after the hit on the third
in goal at the end of the first half.
You know, he's been hurt going back to last year.
They don't like to let you know when injuries happen to Jalen hurts for whatever reason,
competitive advantages.
So maybe he's been more hurt than, I don't know, but the passing game needs to get
a little right, but when you got Sakewon in this defense, you can kind of win without it.
And the thing is, is that from what we saw on the broad,
right when we saw receivers running into each other right in the in the end zone we saw
davante smith dropped that ball all along the sideline we saw incompletion bad misses from jalen
hurts we saw the sacks on no throws so he steps up that ball should have been out to devante he
doesn't throw it so we just saw examples of all the different ways where the past game can go wrong
and it went wrong for them especially in the first half jaylon completed his final eight passes of the day
so you know finished strong which is what we've seen from him throughout the majority of the season but
certainly those inconsistencies in the first half of this game,
you can't have that against the best teams that are going to be on the schedule.
They are a second half team though, right?
No doubt about it.
It's like night and day, first half to second half differences all year.
And I still keep thinking you were one Sequin catchaway from being nine in one right now.
I mean, it's unbelievable.
To be eight and two.
I'm not complaining.
Pretty good.
Yeah.
Game and a half up at Washington.
For all intents of persons that had that game won.
Yes.
Now you could say there were the same.
scheme they could have lost. So Jalen finishes 18 of 28 for 221 and adds 30 yards, 39 yards rushing
on 10 carries. And that was a huge play he made on that third down in the first half where you
saw him running. Man, let me tell you, I was down there for that play and he was moving.
I was like, damn. You know, no wonder Noah loves him.
Oh, man, yeah, he loves him. He loves him. He loves him.
Yeah, but he was moving, man, and just like to be like it.
It's a different feeling from watching it, you know, on TV than actually being down there with the guys.
And you really see that they was out there and humming, humming tonight.
Was there one guy that seeing him up close like made you not necessarily appreciate it,
but you're just kind of like taking it back just from like the speed of the play speed?
Um, yes, yes. I was there a couple guys.
Okay.
You know, remember last week I was there for the, for the, the backwards.
The backwards hurdle.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
That was crazy.
But to actually watch him and not have to game playing for him.
Yeah, right.
You know what I mean?
To watch him as a spectator, he's unbelievable, man.
Sequoan Barclay is unbelievable.
Yeah, he had almost 21 miles an hour tonight.
Like, thank you, Giants.
Like, you dumb bastards.
How did you let that guy go?
I mean, he looks almost better.
And it's probably a credit to the offensive line here in place with the Eagles.
He looks better now than almost he ever did with the Giants.
And he had to spectacular ears with the Giants.
Yeah, I mean, you get, well, you get to see it.
Like, you get to see it in the open field.
I mean, you know, he had more heavy lifting to do in those first couple years in New York when he was as explosive.
But, I mean, to see him get as much open field as he gets now is wild.
And this is another, what, like close to 200-yard game in totality?
$198 yards.
I mean, is that the third time?
He's been over $190 this year?
I think that's right.
I think so, yeah.
I think that's right.
And if you are as taking it back as Vinny is and as jammy as,
you can get your own Sequo.
Sequo!
Merchandise on the L-P-H-L-Y locker.
So check that out.
There's also the nice, the air Sequan of the reverse.
What are we calling it?
The backward turtle, the, well, yeah.
There's no good name for you.
hasn't been a good name for it yet.
Whatever it is, just imagine Danes' face underneath as he jumps over.
An interesting point from the chat that I think is true to me, or at least in recent memory,
some of those Jalen misses were of the ride, which we don't usually see, and that's just sort of
inaccuracy.
Yeah.
And usually he is super accurate.
It's more about the throws that he's not making.
For whatever reason, he did just seem a little bit off tonight.
Yeah.
And the one to AJ, it looked like he was expecting.
That's the route to be a little different.
Yeah, that's why I always say this.
I am excited to go back and look at the film and see what some of those looked like.
Because sometimes you can you can see before the ball even leaves his hand.
Oh, that that's why that pass was inaccurate.
Look at his feed.
I'm not saying Jalen, but a quarterback in general.
You can see why that ball was it was inaccurate.
But yeah, I mean, it was a weird night for the past game.
And it didn't feel right from the jump.
Like very early on, it just there was no flow.
whatsoever. They didn't do anything to kind of create some easy completions too early in the game.
We did see a couple under center play action throws in the first half, but, you know, outside of that,
it was what we've come to expect. The Devante stuff is weird to me. There was, I mean, there was the,
there was a play early on, Jamie where I was like, oh, that was that was a play that was designed to go
Devante and the crosser or no. No, it was before that even. There was, it was a vertical.
It was a vertical. It was a hard to throws down. Yes, that's right. It ended up being a checkdown.
They ran like the fake bubble screen. And then they,
They ran.
It was the Devante down the left side line.
Jalen had to throw it away.
And there was a playoff of the first play in the game.
Yep, where they had Dotson coming.
So they dialed up.
And they did the same thing last week.
I mean, they had plays dialed up for Devante Smith.
You know, there's times where the ball just doesn't come your way.
Or, you know, you don't get credited with the targets and with those receptions, obviously.
He drew a couple penalties last week.
That wasn't the case here today.
But, yeah, I know that they want to try and get him involved more than he has been these last couple of weeks.
Yeah, I mean, he said that he would like to be.
I mean, he's not complaining because they're winning, but, you know, as you said,
it's his birthday, right?
He wasn't, you know, he's like wide receiver.
He wants the ball.
I don't know.
You see that suit pregame?
I mean, come on.
That was a good suit.
That was good to say.
It's always a good suit with him.
It wasn't reached, Blank and Chip and Cooper.
He's a bowler.
He's so good.
Yeah.
That's why it's like, listen, I know.
It's easy, it's easy to sit here and say, you know, Sequin had 28 touches.
Could we give four of those to Devonte?
Smith. Obviously in the flow of the game, it's, it's, it's, it's not as easy to actually make that
happen. And there's a case to be made that if you don't give Sequin all the, the first 20 touches,
then maybe touches, you know, 25, 26, don't go for touchdowns. We, we were talking about
during the watch along. And we didn't like circle back on this, but Rich brought it up initially
about, hey, when you, when you lean into the run game, the way that the Eagles have been,
and the run game's not hitting the way it was in the first half, right? So they're struggling
to run the ball officially in the first half. And it resulted in a lot. And it resulted in a
a lot of third and longs.
And so with the past game,
not operating the way that you would want,
they were getting off the field.
That's why,
you know,
they were struggling to move the football consistently.
But you go to the other second half and to your point,
if he doesn't get those,
those carries,
those first 20 carries,
you know,
does he break those big ones later in the game?
And so you can kind of look at it from both ways
about why the run game is so important and why it's important to stick to it.
And,
you know,
the Eagles insistence on being this running team because that has been the
strength of this team so far.
You can kind of see both sides of the coin here in this game.
So you want to hear what they did in the fourth quarter as a rushing game.
As you said, kind of set it up for later.
12 attempts, 117 yards, three touchdowns, 95 yards before contact.
Just in the fourth quarter.
Just in the fourth quarter.
Four runs gaining 10 plus yards.
The closer.
The closer.
I like that.
Super chat from David, who says,
how about instead of Quinnion, Q,
Qanonan he's putting receivers in San Quinyan prison I've heard that I've also heard
quinianamo by at the end uh Al Q Tras I was another one another one of the super chat
I like I like Al QTrass I think I like that's the last one yeah I thought earlier there's the
leader in the clubhouse oh you might have been in the previous link yeah I like that Al Q Tras
whoever that was that said Alcatraz it was really really good that's pretty good I mean
this was big for him in terms of defensive rookie of the year I mean prime time
games count more, you know, because
the national media is paying attention
and next-gen stats is tweeting
Quinyan links and
all sorts of stuff. So this was a big one for him.
They just tweeted out, Terry McLaren
versus Quinyon Mitchell, 25
routes, 20 matchups, so
80% of the time, target
zero, reception zero, receiving yards
zero, press coverage six times.
So 30% of the plays on
scary, and he had that man in prison.
He stepped
off the field. And that's his guy.
Like, he throws the ball to McLaurin, like, all the time.
65% of his dropbacks, right?
Like, here's Quignan, the back end of that from next gen.
Since week six, all right?
So during this, during the stretch.
Do I need a cigarette and some bonbons for it?
Keep the laptop on your lap.
Fitch intense over here.
Since week six, Quinaw Mitchieff, Mitchell has allowed 0.5 yards per coverage snap,
second fewest amongst all corners in the NFL.
It's pretty wild.
Pretty good.
It's pretty good.
and give the man
just man
put him in a race
he got to be
he's in it
when I looked a couple weeks ago
Jared verse was your odds on favorite
Quignon was second
I think he has to have closed that gap
and if he continues
and the thing with him is
you're going to go with the winning team
like look at the receivers
he's gone up against
there's been some upper echelon
he's not getting a hidden yeah no he's out there
you know taking on the best so
it's going to be a
interesting race.
The other super chat was about
Friends tie.
It's just because you're sitting.
It says,
can we have a debrief on France knee length tie?
I think it's just because...
Yeah, I think it's just a...
I think it's pretty normal length.
It's a little long, but not...
It's a normal tie.
It's fine.
It's fine.
You didn't...
I mean, you didn't...
It's not like you had a tie it all night.
You did it.
No, I did it pre-show.
Yeah.
Two minute warning.
I mean, Vinny, you're the most fashionable guy here.
What do we think about France tie?
I love it.
And orange is my color.
There we go.
There we go.
Beautiful.
So, drippy, someone would say.
Take this shot away.
Too drippy.
Some would say.
All right, we will hear from Nick Siriani shortly.
They must be partying.
There's a Devante Smith birthday cake.
I shared the picture with Julia in the locker room after the game and says,
Happy Birthday, Smitty.
Are they going to give them a cake every time they don't give them enough targets?
An apology cake.
All right.
So before we get to Nick Siriani, let's take a little break to hear from our sponsors.
And we start with, you know, we're looking, I like Al Q-Tras,
but if you wanted to say that Terry McLorton was in Q-JAM construction,
that would work a little bit, right?
But instead we'll go with our friends at C-JAM construction,
because C-JAM is a family-owned home remodeler specializing in decks,

You know, sometimes it's very
difficult to remodel or refurbish
or replenish something.
Sometimes it's as easy as
drafting Cooper DeGine and Quignan Mitchell
and signing Zach Bonn and bringing in Vic Fantio.

And if it's my birthday, you can just go give me an old 30 rack of Miller Lite and I will
be a happy camper.
That's because Miller Light is the original light beer since 1975 and to this day, it's still
the best one.
And why is that, you might ask?
Well, because it's less filling and low calories and it just tastes like a light beer
should taste. Miller Light got rid of everything
you don't need and they hold on
to what matters most. And whether you're with
friends and family watching the birds
down in the lots in the stadium at home,
up in the mountains down the shore, wherever
it may be, having a cold Miller light
in your hand just makes it just makes
it better in my opinion. It's undebatable
quality, great taste and only
96 calories. The original
since 1975
and you don't have to choose what's
best. Miller Light has great taste
and is less filling. Tastes like
Miller time. To get Miller Lite delivered right to your door, go to Miller Lite.com
slash P.H.L.Y. Birds. Or you can find it pretty much anywhere that sells beer.
Celebrate responsibly Miller Brewing Company, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 96 calories per 12 ounces,
fewer calories in carbs than premium regular beer.
Now, Vinnie, you have a Super Bowl ring on your hand.
That is nice.
In part, thanks to Jake Elliott being ice at the end of a game.
You worried about this?
Two miss field goals, one mixed extra point tonight?
His big toe was cold.
Yeah.
First cold game on the season, he'll be okay.
I'm not going to say that he didn't, he didn't make us, you know,
loosen up the tie, you know, but I want to say I'm not worried about it, you know,
because that's not, that's very unlikely from him.
Yes, no question.
Very unlikely from him.
But he got it going.
Whatever the problem was, I feel like he fixed it.
And to the team win aspect of it, I'm kind of happy that they didn't make him sweat it.
Like it kind of ended up not mattering a little bit there.
If that ended up being a close game and a three point or a one point or a swoopers.
He would have probably felt that, maybe internalized it and worried a little more this week.
The fact that he was able to kind of take a deep breath and go like, all right, I didn't cost my team a game.
I feel like mentally that's just good for him to move on.
And those misfield goals and the fact that they had the Eagles behind
as much of the game as they did obscures the fact that
over the course of the game, I mean the Eagles really did dominate this game.
You just like the net yards, it was 434 to 264
and the commanders had a long drive at the end of that game.
That is a lot of that.
Like under the hood, this was even more of an impressive performance.
And I think mostly because of the defense,
but I mean this team this team might be really good yeah we we said it this week that
whoever won this game like you would feel really good about just being in the driver
seat for the NFC east and I think that's going to be the case of the Eagles that the
hype train is going to be you know full full speed ahead for this team moving forward you got
a big week next week against the Rams you got the this Ravens and the Steelers coming up
it's a tough couple weeks here coming up but you know after that I mean this this team is
in the driver seat for the east for sure
they're making you like
feel like you want to be out there?
Oh,
no.
I want to get to a little bit more
of what tonight was like for you,
but I don't want to get
cut off by Siriani.
So we'll wait until after that.
But yeah, I mean, I have so many questions.
On a night, it must have been.
Yeah.
Nick, again, taking his sweet old time.
They got birthday cake in the locker room.
They're party.
There's no way that he has a good idea.
So I read in the pregame what this does for the division
chances here.
Oh, yes.
It bumps them from like,
it bumps them like to like 80%
to win the division.
So when they win tonight,
the Eagles now,
per ESPN analytics,
have an 81% chance
of winning the division.
If they had lost it,
it went down to 38%.
So to say,
this game was pretty monumental
in the division title.
Talk.
It was huge.
You could feel the aura out there.
Yeah, it was chippy early on too.
Yeah.
It was crazy.
It felt like a play-on.
atmosphere. Washington came with some juice tonight.
You could tell that they were up for this challenge in terms of trying to prove like, hey, you know,
like we're here for real, both defensively and offensively, special teams.
Like, they came out chippy.
To me, like, they had more juice, certainly coming out of the box for this game.
Well, I do have to say, like, being there tonight, you know, maybe it part because it was cold.
It's a night game.
I'm there.
I'm watching you, Vinny, get celebrated.
You know, there's all kinds of people there.
There's the Mount Joy concert before the game with Kelsey.
You know, Malcolm's there with you, Lageret Blunt's there with you, Chuck Ladell's walking by.
There's all that, you know.
Chuck Lidale.
Yeah, there's like all kinds of just random people.
It's juice.
And then, yeah, like that game started.
Like this was a big game.
And the offense, the passing game, maybe it didn't answer the bell, but everybody else sort of did.
Yeah, I think I'm going to wake up tomorrow smiling about the defense.
Yeah.
You know, like, Seiquant is amazing.
Like to say that the defense is the star in this when Sequin did what he did in the second half
and the closer closed out the game, to feel that good about the defense, I mean, Cooper DeGine
and Quigionne Mitchell, like those dudes changed everything.
Cooper DeGine, you know, probably didn't have his best game of the night tonight, but had some really nice plays still.
And, you know, Vinnie mentioned it earlier.
When he came into this defense, everything changed.
And don't you think in the stadium, there's a different feeling for like a long,
touchdown it's more of like a it's more of like a relief whereas there there is no
better feeling I think in the stadium than when the defense is just dominating
yeah it's like nothing there's nothing like that man telling you that to see
that sorry but to see like I'm saying like the more and more you think about it
and the more and more you see them jelling it's getting scared is they they is
getting scared.
When you, anytime you got a good defense like we got in a good running game,
them two match up together.
Championship football.
I mean, that travels, right?
A good defense travels, a good running game travels.
Nikobe Dean and Zach Bonn, again, you know, pretty good games, maybe not their best
of recent weeks.
But those two are reliable linebackers now.
But even though it wasn't their best game, like you saw some mistackles from this defense
in this game, I mean, Nikobe Dean's tackle on Jaden is not third-down scramming.
Big time.
That was a third down play.
Yeah, Zach Bond, the diving PbU and the opening possession.
Great.
He had the, he helped finish the tackle on the fourth and inches.
I mean, both guys made impact plays in this game.
You know, it's...
When does extension talk start with Zach Bonn?
Start, I would imagine.
Sorry, start, right?
Three, four weeks ago.
Yeah, I would think so.
He had 14 tackles, including his assist.
Well, eight, eight solo, six assists.
That four and a half.
That was a lock.
Damn.
Yeah, there you go.
And Kobe had eight, ten combined.
10 for Reed Blankychip.
Read Blankychip was very good in this game.
There's two back-to-back players where we're very good.
Yeah, I mean, this defense is really fun to watch.
I mean, Jane Daniels has been tearing people up,
and he had nothing to throw to tonight.
Yeah.
Outside of Austin Eccler.
And no space.
Nothing.
All right, Nick, at this point, like, come on.
Do you think he's doing the varsity blues,
like whipped cream and cherry, like bikini dance in the locker room?
You think he's, what's taking?
Talk about a birthday suit.
Like images.
You didn't want to think about that one?
Siriani on Allie Lager's body.
She's a local girl from Cherry Hill.
Really?
Yeah.
I don't know that.
My brain is full of useless information.
I mean, that came in handy on this post-game show.
Debate.
We have some short chats from Stephen who says,
we all love Jake, but is it time for the Eagles to
look to bring in another kicker.
No.
He coughed up seven easy points that could have cost us the game.
Here's the thing.
Kickers are volatile.
Like, even if you wanted to bring in somebody else, there's certainly no guarantee that
they would be better.
I think it's pretty clear that you ride with Jake for now.
Fresh Prince says, what is Q's ceiling?
Is it limited due to the lack of ball production?
He's not discussed how sauce was during his rookie year.
I mean, it's early.
Yeah, I was...
Fresh Prince, I was, I was thinking that to myself, like, I think he's having that type of year, though.
Yeah.
People are scared to throw over there, bro.
Yeah.
I mean, no interceptions isn't a bad thing.
It means people stop throwing at you.
I mean, not entirely, but you don't know what I mean?
You're right.
Like, he hasn't, it's not early in the season.
He had a couple ones where he could have picked him off.
Sure.
That is not the case right now.
No.
Terry McLauron left the field at one point and just stood there and looked like he was in
shock. And then they sent him to the right side of the field to get away from Quinyon Mitchell,
and they threw at Cooper DeGine right away when he was moved to the other side of the field.
Like, I'm not, I know I'm a Quinyon's number one fanboy here, but like, this dude is causing problems for other teams.
And he's doing it from off coverage. He's doing it in man. He's doing it in zone. He's doing it in press.
That was a big question for him coming in was all, what is he going to be as a press man corner just because he didn't do that a lot in college.
he's passed every test.
I mean, he's been outstanding.
The big thing, obviously, is the ball production that's just not there.
And that's what's keeping him from, I think, reaching that, that national level of scale.
We talked about like, oh, why isn't he getting the attention that Soss Gardner got in New York?
But, I mean, to me, that's the only thing kind of holding them back.
But it's not, that doesn't determine his upside.
That just determines his upside in terms of what the accolades are.
Sure.
He's the same.
I mean, he's, he's the best quarterback that's ever lived.
Deion Sanders, who?
No, I like it.
Prime time.
And we saw him, he saw him do a little dancing tonight after the Reed Blankenship Interception.
Yeah.
It's a little sauce on there.
I'd like to see that.
A little sass.
Yeah.
Not so bad.
Fran.
Yeah.
In the passing game, how was the, how was the blocking tonight it looked like to your, to your live eye?
I thought the past bro seemed okay.
Yeah.
I didn't think it was.
I didn't seem like Beckton got beat a few times.
Yeah.
I mean, Beckton definitely, I didn't think he had his best game, even in the run game as well.
I thought there were some miscommunications between he and.
and Cam Juergens on some of those double teams
where both guys came off at the same time
and they let Duran Payne come through.
That happened at least twice that I saw.
There were a couple of pulls where Beckton was on the move
and he ended up on the ground.
He missed the block.
So it did not seem like 77 had his best game tonight.
Yeah.
I mean, you know, not everybody can have a lot.
A lot of look fine to you.
Yeah, I thought so.
Yeah.
They ran a couple of melts during the game
and showing him in Passpro.
And he was doing a really good job,
you know, one-on-one with Armstrong with Fowler.
Well, Siriani is now finally getting to the podium.
Oh, good.
Well, before we actually have Siriani, what did you guys think of that trick play?
Oh, God.
Do we think that Siriani is going to volunteer that was his idea?
He fell on the sword, yeah, absolutely.
You think he'll do that?
He called that one in.
Yeah, that was, that's on me, guys.
Yeah, I told Kellan to run that one.
Okay, well, hopefully we'll hear from Nick in a bit.
Yeah, that one, that one, like reliance upon Kakatero.
Oh, we got them.
All right.
Let's check on Nick Sirian.
Again, so much respect for Coach Quinn.
He's done an unbelievable job.
So we knew we had to be on it today.
And so he played a good opponent on a short week, and it was big to get a win.
I think you saw you go over since Jake Elliott when he was having his trouble.
What did you say, he's been so clutch his entire career and his entire time that I've been here too.
And just like I would say to somebody that fumbled or dropped a pass in a moment, you know, we believe in you.
You're going to have to make a kick to help us win this football game.
And, you know, he did to get us up that 16 points and 8 points or whatever it was.
But, you know, we have so much faith in him.
And, you know, that's what you do.
And when the connection happens, I think connections happen when you can really build connections through tough times, right?
And so obviously he was going through a tough time.
But, you know, this team believes so much in Jim.
Jake Elliott, you know, because of his track record and who he is and the teammate he is,
the captain he is, and just wanted to let him know that we all believed in him and can't
wait for him to get his opportunity to go out and do it again.
Terry McLaren only had one catch, didn't see it until the fourth quarter.
I think Q lined up against him 20 times and he had zero targets.
What was the key to shut him down?
I think, you know, first and foremost, Terry McLaren is a phenomenal football player.
Man, like him coming out.
When I was in Indies, an Indianapolis kid, we did a lot of work on him
and just really think the world of him, the player, the person.
He's been awesome in his career.
With that being said, I think our guys did a nice job going against him.
I think it started up front.
We were able to get some pressure on the quarterback
and force some scrambles.
And we did a good job plastering on some of those scrambles,
but just good team defense.
and a lot of credit to Q, a lot of credit to Slay,
a lot of credit to the underneath coverage
that was helping them go other places with the football.
Or, you know, it just takes, again,
being on good team defense takes being on the same page,
playing with great effort to the football,
which I saw a lot in this game,
and then just tackling well.
I think we probably missed a couple more tackles
than what I'm used to us missing.
But credit to their players that can, you know,
Austin Echler,
I was fortunate enough to be with him in 2017 with the Chargers.
And he's still everything I remember him
because he's pretty elusive in the open field.
But that's the key to getting off blocks, playing physical,
and I thought our defense was lights out tonight.
Joe and Carter by Grant-Captainterra.
How big of a play was that?
And what to say about him that he was all the way down there?
Yeah, first, Dallas got to do a better job protecting the football.
He swung the football there, and we'll get that corrected.
Dallas was bummed about that, but good things happen when you get to the football.
We talk about that on defense.
We talk about that on offense.
When you're hustling to the football, when you're getting to the football,
when you're playing with relentless effort, good things happen.
And I think that, you know, we've made a big emphasis on after the catch,
who can you flip and find, meaning who can you flip and find and get a block on him, right,
to be able to spring that thing open even more.
And so that was just effort by grant of, you know,
trying to set his teammate off to get it to get a big gain.
And then he's around the football to be able to pick that up there.
You know, in 2022, we lost, I think Kwez lost a similar fumble in this game
against the commanders where, you know, it was on a deeper pass,
but they were able to recover it.
That was a huge recovery.
But again, we'll stress that because we'll really talk about,
that because, again, like I said, good things happen when you get to the ball.
And, and again, it's, you know, Dallas will get all the yards for that, but, you know,
Grant made a huge play right there.
And Grant continues to do things with the ball on his hand, without the ball on his hand,
whether he's the number one tight end, whether he's the number two tight end.
And, you know, we're winning football games because Grant's playing good football.
It takes everybody.
Everybody's got a, not everybody's role is the same, but everybody's role is vital.
important. And that's team
football. And that's where you're proud of the
guys of just playing good team football together.
Feeling hard with half their high-end tackles
tonight. I know you haven't seen
the tape, but is there anything that you can see
from the sideline on his game? And how has
he progressed these legs? He's just
he is a freak athlete.
You know, I
really think that Jim Carter,
whatever sport he would have put his mind into,
he would be a big-time player in that
sport. And
he's just such a good athlete.
and he's able to get to the football.
He's violent when he gets.
There was a draw that they ran or it was kind of, I think it was a draw,
that he retraced and made a play and got a big hit on Jane Daniels.
And so, again, I just think that he's been playing more than all the guy.
You guys would tell me, I know recently he's played a lot more than the other guys.
I don't know exactly the snap count, but he plays with Relentless Effort,
he plays with great athletic ability, plays with great,
violence when he gets to the football, made some, you know, everyone will talk about the
fourth downstop, but there was a couple plays he made behind the line of scrimmage that put
him in the fourth down on that drive, which was a huge stop for our team.
What did that do for the team?
I'm sorry?
Fourth down stop.
What did that do for you?
That was huge.
That was huge.
I mean, that's a turnover in our eyes.
And it looked like they had something with the snap.
I didn't see exactly what happened.
But we got, not only did they have something with a snap, but we got pushback.
I don't know who that was.
We got pushback on the center and in the guard, I think.
And then we were, again, we were flying to the football.
I think we've shown great athletic ability on defense.
Again, it takes relentless effort, but shoot, you know, you need good athletes out there doing it.
So credit to Howie and his staff of the guys that are on this field.
We're an athletic defense that flies around and hits.
And as that play got strung out, you could see the effort to the football,
but you also could see the athletic ability to the football to make that play.
Because, you know, Jay and Dan is obviously a really good athlete,
really good football player.
It was good to be able to string that thing out and get the stop.
It was huge because we went down and made it a two-score game at –
was it 1910 when we made that?
Yeah, I think it was 12-10.
Yeah, so huge, huge, because then we went up two scores.
So big stop.
But it wasn't like it was a short field, right?
The offense had to go do its job,
and really we were able to lean on the big guys up front.
Man, how special were they tonight?
I'm really excited to watch that tape.
Obviously, Sequin's going to get all the credit for that,
but again, you can't be great without the greatness of others.
And Sequan was great tonight, but that offensive line was really good.
And, you know, even on Sequon's touchdown,
we got the receivers running off.
that played. Smitty's running off.
AJ's running off to that side where he's
able to, you know, that's effort.
And I think our guys have been playing
with extreme effort
and good things happen
again when you're doing those things.
The running game, Nick,
as a whole, probably
on paper, not where you wanted until the fourth quarter.
And then it just, do you get a feeling for that?
You just talked about that. Yeah, I thought
Kellan did a great job calling the game.
I know it was tough sledding at the
beginning. But he kept leaning on the run game as the game continued on. When you got a back
like Sequin, I mean, Kenny Gainwell, how about how about how he played, huh? You know, because we got
into a, you know, Kenny came in for Sequin, you know, and Saquan needed a break. And we were going
on the ball because we were having some good, you know, tempo as we were on the ball and kind of had them
on their heels. And we just kept going. And, man, Kenny played his butt off. But yeah, yeah,
you get the feel of that as the game. You know, we felt like we were getting some moving.
movement up front. Again, that's a really good defense. Great defensive coaches, great defensive
players over there. They got some good youth over there as well that you notice and have some
speed. But hold on saying. It was huge. It was huge that we were able to get that going
and Kellan just sticking with it even though some of it was muddy early. But that's how it goes
sometimes in the run game, right? It's ugly sometimes. It's, it's grimy sometimes. It's like,
but you continue to grind that out,
and that really helped us put that game away.
What's a great thing in the game,
Jayleman Hertz was kind of off.
He was like just holding the ball too long
or it was just the timing was off.
Was anything wrong just holding the ball too long?
Well, I'll have to look at the tape.
I just, again, you know, it didn't,
it's everybody that contributes to a slow start offensively.
It's not just one person.
This is a team game.
It's always a team game,
and it'll always be.
the team. And so I'll have to go back and look. What I'm proud of the offense, what they did
tonight is that, you know, they found a way, you know, they found a way to continue to point
on the board and, you know, to be able to stretch that game out. Obviously, the defense did a great
job of holding a good offense down, but the offense just kept trying, it kept finding a way.
We'll look at the tape. We'll see what happened. It wasn't our, obviously wasn't a great start
for us. It was ugly. But sometimes those ugly moments turn.
into, you know, again, part of it's the run game was a little ugly and it wasn't as clean.
But then as the game progresses, I'm just so proud of the guys to, they do truly have this dog mentality of like, all right, it's not going good.
Well, what are you going to do about it, right?
It's just you just, all you can do is learn from what happened.
And sometimes it's hard to learn from what happened within game because you don't know exactly sometimes what happened.
But you put your head down and know that the only play that matters is next.
And this is just such a resilient group that can really put bad plays behind them and move on.
And they can put good plays behind them and move on.
Like you said, when we went up, whatever, we were up 12, 10, we get the stop.
We go up 1910.
That was a good drive.
We get another stop or we get the pick by Reed and we go score another touchdown.
Like that is truly, it's so much easier said than done of how do you play the next play?
But the guys did a good job of that.
What was it like at halftime from your perspectives?
Jalen's getting checked for the concussion.
Are you putting in contingency plans for Kenny at that point,
making sure that Jalen's okay?
What's that?
Yeah, I got information really early on.
I think as I was going into the locker room that he would,
Chailen was going to be, you know, he cleared.
But really what we talked about at halftime was,
hey, this is going to be a grimy, gritty game and just just keep going
because we know we're grimy and gritty.
We know that team's grimy and gritty.
A lot of respect for them, but we just kept going.
and that was the talk of halftime, like, hey, it's a street fight.
And it's not about who's tougher.
It's about who's tougher longer.
And we all said that to each other, and we went out.
And I think they got points right away.
Right.
I think they got three points right away.
But then, again, just great resilience by our guys.
What does a great defense, too, for a team's mentality?
Yeah, again, when you, I think similar to, like, when you're running the ball like we're running,
I just, it, we really pride ourselves.
I think the, since I've been here, the last four years,
when we've played our best, we've played with extreme physical toughness,
mental toughness, physical toughness, relentless effort.
And I think that when you play, you know, that, you know,
you think about the run game when you do that, you talk about the defense.
Again, like what part of those things, when you describe defense, good team defense,
again, it's talks about, we start with being on the same page,
but everything else is about effort,
physicality, right?
Toughness, the way you'd strike blocks,
the way you'd get off blocks,
the way you tackle, all those things,
fundamentals and toughness.
And so it just brings that,
it just brings that light of the,
we have tough guys,
like we're tough on this football team
because we've got tough guys.
Like that's so important.
It can't be tough if you don't got guys that are tough.
And so I think it just emphasizes what we want to be as a team,
the physical toughness,
the mental toughness, a relentless effort, all those things umbrella over the word tough in our mind.
And that's a core value ours. And it's huge to the football team.
Because, I mean, you know, just like a big catch or a big run, a big hit does the same thing, right?
Whether it's finishing somebody on the sideline as an offensive player or getting a big hit or a pushback on the defensive line.
And we'll highlight the crap out of those on, you know, when we review this tape, we'll look at those.
and we just want to build on that.
The trick play, what was the thinking there?
I'm sorry?
The trick play, what was the thinking there?
Yeah, we're trying to get a big play.
I mean, just what went into preparation?
A lot of preparation goes into trick plays.
Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't,
but a lot of preparation goes into it.
They got us on that one.
All right, thanks.
Jayles on his way in.
I'm surprised.
Nick did totally fall on that one.
That's interesting.
To your point, Vinnie, on the closer.
I saw this on Twitter, and I don't actually know who it was from.
The last 30 years, most rushing yards per game in the fourth quarter in overtime,
or second half in overtime, Sequin Barclay, number one, 73.8 per game.
Oh, wow.
Wild.
The most second half rushing yards of any running back in the last 30 years.
Closer.
Got to say it like that.
Should you be getting to make us get new to Sequin?
So the question here becomes, is Sequin Barkley worthy of MVP votes?
Legitimate non-quarterback MVP votes, I would make the case that he's a finalist right now.
That he's a top three finalist in the NFL.
I think he's making a strong case for the top three.
And I think when that game comes along, because we got to go there.
Oh, yeah.
Ravens and Lamar.
Yeah, we have to play them, not looking ahead.
but he's going to show up and show out.
Those are top two of the top three.
The closer.
We'll do what he does.
Yeah, I think we got a little, little, little case on our hands.
Yeah, that's right.
And by the way, we had not talked yet about the Calcutera recover.
That was a huge play.
Give that man a game ball.
Huge play.
I mean, near disaster.
You would even see it.
Like, we were watching and he was like, put the ball away because you can see Dallas has it out.
He just got to bounce, dude.
Yeah.
That was tough, but what a play.
Near disaster.
Yeah.
Great play by Calcutterra.
All right, let's take one more break before we're going to talk about Vinnie Curry's special night.
And then in a little bit, we'll hear from Zach Berman from the lake.
Not a happy thing to say, but it's true.

All right, Vinny. Let's talk about it.
What was like today even before you got to the stadium like where you, where you, where you,
nervous how many people had you heard from what were you feeling oh man i think i heard from
mostly every teammate i played with really awesome that's amazing blowing up um i've been doing
interviews all day so um the day started like at 11 30 bro so yeah so you've been you've been
gone for a long time yeah yeah yeah yeah so um but like i said man it was it was surreal um
So much love.
And, like, I just, it was overwhelming, you know.
I imagine so.
Yeah, yeah, definitely overwhelming.
This, you know, one of the mentors that when we first got to the league
on the opposite side, coaching the defensive line that I was.
T-TAP.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I was wondering if you got to be with him.
You know, man, it was just.
It was surreal out there.
You know, you was out there.
You see it.
It was awesome to watch.
So, so many former teammates out there.
It was, it was not beloved.
Well, it's, it's funny.
I was, I talked about this on the show the other day, but I had gone back and watched this,
this interview that Fran and I did with you with Chris McPherson at the Eagles website 10 years ago.
And just thinking back to that, that's you in year three.
And even then, you're talking about.
Well, you know, as a junior in high school, I was 5'9.
Like, I didn't hit this growth spurt.
Like, this net wasn't even in my dreams.
We know that you grew up a Eagles fan to go from there to that point.
And then to go from that point to having as long and amazing a career as you did.
And to have the impact on all the people you heard from tonight.
It's awesome to watch.
I definitely.
I didn't do anything, but I'm proud of you.
Appreciate it.
I think another cool thing was, you know what they kept saying?
Hey man
We saw the podcast
Bro
We go
We're watching the podcast
I was like
Oh my shoot
I like that
Well they jump in the chat
Yeah we're talking
Like I did
Jump in the chat
I'm pretty sure
The fans want to hear from you guys
No question
So was there anything
The night that just like
Totally took you by surprise
Or like
Really
You're gonna look back on
In 10 years
And be like damn
You know what
When
Something
Like
Something like
When I went up there
To do the WIP
Interview
And I'm a day with
hill and I'm like damn I'm like when I was like in six six and the fifth grade like I was like
want to be like these dude yeah oh I'm out here retiring next to them so talk yeah that was crazy that
that was like a moment right there that was a pretty cool moment you know that's cool I was
going to ask what at what point did it like hit you that like this is this is like uh the retirement
night oh I want to say when Tico Tico text me was like yo man like
You know, and I tell you,
he's like, man, you're part of the legends community now.
Yeah, right.
Damn, bro.
Like, that's my mind you got to get a bow and arrow and go join them in the fields?
Nah, I told him, I told him, if they always tried to get me to go camping.
I said, I'm the one in this in the truck.
Just go, go, go, who.
You need me come get you.
I'm not getting out that thing.
Yeah.
Well, that's the thing is that it, I imagine for you,
tonight was also like you had your family there, you had friends there, right?
So there's probably also a lot, lots of manage,
but to be able to step back and just like accept that all of this was being done on your behalf.
You know, that's tough.
Man, that was awesome.
That was awesome.
I, and to get the W, most importantly.
You can't ruin Vinnie Curry night.
Oh, man.
To say God knew that.
He understood the assignment.
Oh, man.
To get the W on top of that, it was even crazy.
What was it like watching it through your kid's eyes?
Because, you know, they were so young when you were playing, like, seeing Noah.
like taking that all in and the link going nuts for you like that had to be amazing oh
yeah he was having a great time yeah oh my god he was he was he was so good in and more than me
but that's what it's about though you know that's what we do we do you know you gave him a little
like uh you're like go go tap up jeline yeah yeah go ahead you know you know you want to run over there
hug you know what's your spot yeah i'm like yeah go ahead man you know and it's awesome
you know, and all the guys know, like, you know, for me bringing them around all time,
but it was, it was definitely cool.
Now, how about going out for the coin toss?
Oh, that was cool.
That was, you know, it was weird to see him in the colors.
Yeah.
Like, damn.
But now, that was awesome.
And y'all know your boy was talking.
That's what I was going to say.
What was he saying?
Yeah, you better tell him.
You better tell him.
Was he talking smack to Ertz?
No, he was just telling him that he told him, but yeah,
You better tell you boys, we're coming.
It's going to be a long night.
I'm trying to laugh.
I'm not saying, I'm like, yo, bro.
That was funny.
That's good.
And then you did the Eagles chant before the start of the second half.
Yeah, that was cool.
That was cool because it got a little quiet in there.
People start musing up the time.
But you know, listen, the Eagles been, for the last couple of weeks,
second half football team, they come out of the second half.
They dominate the football game.
Yes.
So that was cool.
And then what about the actual signing thing with Jeffrey?
I thought I was going to cry, but, you know, I held it together, you know.
But that was just having that moment with my family and Mr. Lurie,
I still remember like when we was doing the, you know, interviews and stuff and Big Red and all of us in there.
I mean, it was all dark and lights were.
It was like a mom movie.
It was crazy.
It was like, and I walked in there, and I knew all the coaches in there, I started going crazy.
And I'm like, just in case y'all were on draft, let me just take a couple pictures with you guys.
They're like, what?
I'm like, man, you know, I truly believe green, but please don't talk the rest of them if you're never thinking.
It was funny.
It was funny, man.
I want if they're going to release that video now that every time.
That would be fun.
That would be funny.
And I think people would be like, yo, V is crazy.
Like, I was so excited.
Like, just imagine being 21, 22 years old,
and you're walking there, and you, like, Big Red is like,
have a seat, and I'm like, oh!
What it is.
It's crazy.
Yeah.
And it was like so many questions you want to ask him.
So how was he coaching Mike Vick?
Yeah, you get to, you know what I mean?
It was crazy.
It was like, it was fun.
It definitely, definitely was a good ride.
All right, great right. I enjoyed the time here.
Yeah.
I feel like I lived every Eagle fan dream.
You did, right.
And hopefully I didn't pry out, you know.
You did.
Do you think that you kept that inner fan the whole time?
Or was there a point where you felt like you had to go from like,
I'm a fan playing for the team to like now I just got to be a professional.
That must have been hard early in your career, I feel like.
Yeah, but that's why I played so hard.
Yeah.
You know, like we talked about all the time.
I might not have all that accolades it,
but hopefully it showed you with my play that I play so hard.
And I don't mind being the first one into a burning building,
you know, for somebody else to be successful
and open up something else for anybody else
because at the end of the day,
those who know and actually understand the game of football
know what I meant to know those teams over the years.
And that's why I was so many...
The same time.
Bob's know what you did, you know, like they saw it.
Yeah, well, I got out of the team.
of their super fat
but they paid you
recognize what you did
what we're going to say
I was going to say the
first couple years
obviously were rough right
it was the end at the end of Andy
and so I know there were games
that that ended lots of booze and all that
did you feel like you had
a different viewpoint
on the relationship with the fans
earlier in your career than most guys
that came into your age
um
absolutely I mean
you know, at that time, you know, it was, like, people forget this part.
Imagine being a rookie, going on your favorite team, we roll.
I mean, in the beginning, we was doing high.
We beat the Super Bowl champs that ended up being the Super Bowl champs
that end up in the Super Bowl champions.
Right.
Then all of a sudden, coming to a game, you're out there warming up,
people got bags on their heads.
I'm like, yo, it's just real.
And I'm looking at that.
bro, that dude is funny.
But anyway, and he like, yeah, Vida.
Like, he's just in his little voice.
And I'm like, damn, man, like, what's going to happen?
And then obviously the change happened.
And when the change happened, it was like, yeah,
I know y'all was just all drafted last year,
but yeah, we were running three-four.
Oh, shit.
You know, like, it was just crazy.
so that but we we did it to our best our ability like I said man and one thing when you turn that
tape on guys play hard no question so I think we do actually have a a photo Julia of the interview
from a decade ago uh oh wow wow look at that hair 40 pounds lighter you know it's funny you
were you were talking in this interview about uh the the diet changes that you had made yeah uh
Yeah.
Like no, I forget no cheese.
Yeah, bro.
Yeah, it was tough.
I was down from dairy.
Yeah.
Man, I was real strict on that.
Good for you.
Yeah, I wish I could be that damn strict right now.
Yeah.
And then there's, there's Fran and C-Mack as well.
Wow.
Frank just got back from his honeymoon.
Fresh off the honeymoon.
Yeah, fresh up on honeymoon.
Man, I mean, there is.
St. Lucia.
That's where I went.
Oh, really?
Some real terrible fits going on here.
Oh, I mean.
I mean, anything for back then is back.
It's really bad.
I'm embarrassed.
But Vey looks good.
Vinnie still got it.
Man, what a time.
You look like a very earnest, like, intern in that...
Yeah, I look awful.
And I'm a hard listen in that one, too.
It's very low energy.
It's like, oh, man, yeah.
CMAQ is doing, like, all he can do to just keep it on the rails.
I had the...
Vinny's doing great.
I had the Siriani cut.
That's a straight number one all the way around.
To the shaved head, save the season.
Shaved head, shaved the season.
Well, if any, we are, we are, I mean, I'm just, I'm just over the moon for you.
It was, uh, it was awesome, awesome to watch.
Just seeing, just seeing, like, your people there as everybody's coming up to you, so happy to see you.
Like, that was great.
No, that was cool.
It made me want to cry.
No.
That was cool, man.
And I will say, like, to their credit, the Eagles have always done a very good job of, like, you know, Trent talks about the legend community.
Like, bringing you guys, keeping you guys.
guys in the family.
What?
And doing up stuff like that, right.
So I give them credit for that.
And I want to say, like, the, the Eagles went up and beyond, and I truly appreciate it.
Awesome.
Yeah. That's great.
All right.
Now we'll wait for Zach and get our conversation.
Would you like to hear what the crowd was chanting at Sequin?
One way he went to Nick Seriani's press conference.
He joined the Amazon broadcast booth and a horde of Eagles fans around.
around them started a thank you giants chan nice and sayquan said i love this oh nice that's awesome
that's good yeah i did see i saw i mean the uh the joe shame memes are very good oh great he's like
he ran for how many yards you don't pay a quarterback 40 million dollars to hand the ball off to a 12
million dollar running back you sure joe oh man tough and uh another tweet that's going by
i mean mara must just be in hell no he's an absolute yeah
Michael Parsons, you know, he's not one to hold his tongue.
I blame the Giants on Twitter.
Nice.
He wants to be an eagle so bad.
Vinnie, if you got drafted by the Cowboys,
how bad would you, like, so you put yourself in Parsons' shoes?
Like, do you feel like you would be this way where it's like very obvious that you would want to be a Philadelphia Eagle?
I want to say we went through that process.
Sure.
So,
draft night,
the,
the Giants had to pick either between me and David Wilson.
Yep.
Running back from the tech.
Yeah,
and they wanted me to come up there for one more.
Like,
wanted me to come up there or they wanted to,
and they wanted me to come up there for one thing,
and I'm like,
bro.
You know,
you know what's crazy.
But the business is,
The business version of course.
You know what I'm saying?
Yeah.
But it worked out.
You know what I mean?
It's just crazy.
Yeah.
He's just like, yeah.
He's rubbing his Super Bowl race for the audio listeners.
Like, like that's...
Michael Bars is a beast.
Like, and I get it though.
So, you know, Philadelphia fans, the organization should be, you know what I mean?
Like, damn, that's pretty cool like this.
Sky or another team stood.
Oh, that means talking about us, you know?
When you talked to, when you went to Tampa and New York, like, what is the perception
of the Eagles?
Is it a place that straight up people just want to come to?
Yeah, yeah.
You know, you hear so much about it, man.
The fans are so passionate about the players.
They're going to let you know when you're doing well.
They're going to let you know playing shitty.
You know, and I just, that's the only thing you can ask for is honesty.
So as the guys were like coming up to you tonight,
what kind of vibe are you getting from the team?
Oh, man, they was ready to go.
They was locked in.
Well, you seen, they was locked in.
Yeah.
They was locked in.
They didn't blink.
They ain't bad an eye.
They ain't blink.
So even in the beginning of the game,
you could feel the oar in there.
It felt like you couldn't tension.
You could cut with a stick knife.
But, you know, they did what they were supposed to do tonight.
Yeah, they certainly did, especially on defense.
Go ahead.
As Nick Siriani secured a job for the foreseeable future here?
I mean, a year ago at this time, you would have thought so, too.
So let's see how the second half goes.
but I think he's like fifth or sixth
and win percentage in the Super Bowl era now
his second bet I think if the Chargers
lose this week he'll have the best active
head coach winning percentage
what a roller coaster of emotions for him this year
huh? Just like a shaved
head that's all yeah it's all it's all it's all
all right how about
we have Zach
oh let's bring him in the Berman
the Berman
the back draw
for Biddy 9 he has brought
his A game
What's up, Zach?
For the backdrop.
Vinny, congratulations, man.
Vinny, congratulations.
Yeah.
There was a player on the team who you probably guess who it is.
He's like, I heard what you and Vinny were saying.
And I was like what Vinny were saying.
Yeah.
So you probably guess who that was.
I hope it was good stuff.
It was Trevor Key.
No, yeah.
Yeah, it's someone always looking for motivation.
It's a classic Brennan Graham bit.
Yes.
Yes, exactly.
Exactly.
We'll start with what the locker room was like
because that was certainly the biggest win of the season
in terms of the stakes going into the game
and the way that they pulled away in the second half.
What was the general feeling in the locker room?
So if we're continuing the music theme that we do for all this thing,
this could be good.
Dequan Barkley is by his locker speaking.
and the song is
don't you worry about a thing, right?
And maybe it was apropos
because you saw Sequin
in the fourth quarter there
really closed the game out.
But around the locker room
there were two more prevailing sentiments
more so than like how good Sequin was,
although there was a player
who walked Bobby on his way out
and was like, thank God we have Seekoine Barkley, right?
Nice.
But wait, is this, is this,
Don't you worry about a thing?
Yes, yes, yes.
Yeah, exactly.
I'm glad you sang in a memory.
I'm trying to have your back.
Yeah.
So thank you.
Appreciate that.
Tori.
So there were two sentiments, really.
First off, the defense, right?
The way this defense is playing, you know, we'll get to it.
CJ Gardner Johnson said that fourth downstop, like explains everything you need to know about that defense.
Right.
And then the other thing was the offensive line.
And that the way Seekwon ran, the way.
with a Kenny Gainwell runs,
those were offensive line driven
as much as anything else.
You guys heard Nick, I know you had them on.
Nick was really talking about how they're a tough team,
but in the locker room,
what you kept hearing was the way the offensive line
in the fourth quarter imposed their will.
I spoke to a few different offensive linemen who,
because when Gainwell had those two runs,
those guys were more demonstrative than you typically see.
And I asked them why.
And they're like, those were plays they had in there,
They were waiting to run them there at that trap play.
And, you know, they caught it the right time and it worked.
And so, like, it's, that's, that's, that's, that's what it was.
Franz calling it out live on the watch along.
He's like, they haven't run that all year long.
And then then on the very, they get on the very next play.
They do a different one that they haven't run all year long.
Well, Fran hit it on the head because I has two guys independently,
Mackay back and Ann Lane Johnson.
And they both said exactly what Fran said, like, it's a play we were holding on to.
we ratted it and it worked as designed.
And then the defense.
Like what is there not to say about the defense
and that fourth down stop in particular?
And just the praise around the locker room for Zach Bonn.
And I got a chance to speak to Zach Bonn.
So those were the overriding sentiments.
And then some other stuff that they need to work on for sure.
You know, Jalen Hertz was harping on the red zone in particular
that they need to finish in the red zone.
And that's that was the problem early in the game.
but, you know, C.J. Garner Johnson said as he was walking into the locker room,
that the division goes through the Eagles.
And when he was asked about it, he said he's not doing any clickbait here.
He says, this is kind of how it's been.
The NFC. East goes through the Eagles.
He says he has respect for Washington, but the NFC East goes through the Eagles.
And at least now, you know, because I heard what you said before I came on.
And when if you think back to our postgame shows, when it was, it was Jamie, you and me.
I'm speaking to Bo here last year.
At this time, you know, you think about the Buffalo win or the Miami win.
It was like there's so there's a long season ahead.
But to be eight and two right now for a game and a half up in the NFC East,
that's a good situation for these guys.
No doubt about it.
And we do agree.
I mean, the defense was awesome tonight.
Those three consecutive stops on second, third, and fourth.
and short really was the turning point in this game.
I think what did they,
what did they say aside from C.J. Garner Johnson about
that being such a big swing.
Yes, so I was actually interested in the specifics of the play.
And, you know, Zach Bond said you can,
you can do all the, all the tape study you want,
but you have to react when you're there.
Like he didn't know where CJ, or I'm sorry,
where Jaden Daniels was going to go on the play.
They had an idea of,
of it, but, um, but he said you can't account for a bobbled snap. Uh, and then he, he, he talked
about, he didn't know if Daniels was going to cut in when he, when he, he, he went around the
side. You just kind of have to have physicality. You have to, you know, be disciplined there.
And he, he made the play. Um, I would say overall, you know, one thing, I, uh, it was C.
Gardner Johnson who's who said this the the game plan Vic Fangio's game plan was was to make
Jayden Daniels be a quarterback right and and and to have him try to try to beat them that way and you know
CJ said no one's kind of beat them deep so I know that's that's that's that's not about the
fourth down play in particular but uh that that that was and we saw that that that was their
game plan was don't let jade and daniels beat you with his legs and on that fourth down to play in
in particular they obviously had had had pushed that help the miss hand
able to snap or whatever it was, that contributed to it.
But Zach Vaughn just made a huge stop.
And, you know, G.O. and Hertz was talking about, like, what Zach Vaughn brings to the team.
Other guys were saying it to.
Zach Vaughn was saying all this attention for him.
It's making him a little uncomfortable because, like, he's not the way he is off the field as he is on the field.
He's, like, he's kind of preserved off the field.
And he actually has to, like, work himself into a frenzy before.
the game, but he says he comes off
confident and tough and intimidating on the field,
and that's kind of not what he's like off the field.
So he's kind of getting used to all this attention right now.
That's interesting.
He deserves it.
Yeah, absolutely.
I kind of wonder, like, is he getting texts
from his old Saints teammates?
Like, dude, where was this?
What's going on?
I thought I knew you.
Yeah, he was speaking about
all this inside linebacker stuff.
And he's like, you know, he said he, he, at his opening press conference, he kind of answered the way he did because he didn't know where he was going to play.
He thought maybe inside linebacker.
He didn't.
And then it was, it was funny as someone who's kind of been studying Vic Fangio, if you all, you'll appreciate this.
It was kind of framed to him like, what was that conversation like with Vic Fangio when you were told you're going to be an inside linebacker?
It's like, it wasn't a conversation.
It was just that, yeah, that's where I was assigned to go.
and I went and played there.
Like, it wasn't, it wasn't like there was no pomp and circumstance to it, right?
On the offensive side of the ball, aside from Sequin, Zach, the passing game, not their best night tonight.
First of all, what about Jalen getting his bill rung and getting checked for the concussion?
I was there next to you.
You were doing a very good reporter.
You're standing up.
You got your binox out.
You're just looking for is Jailen coming out?
What was that scene like on the field?
and then are you worried about, you know, Devante Smith's lack of integration into the offense at the moment?
Yeah, good questions there.
So the G.1 hurts of it all.
It's weird when it happens right before half, right?
Because you don't know, obviously he's going, everyone goes into the locker, right?
So you don't know if he's going into the locker.
You can go get to the locker.
You don't know if it's for that or if it's just that he was cleared.
Now, it turns out that he was cleared before he went into the locker room.
But Jalen said, by the way, there's nothing to it.
He cleared the protocol.
He doesn't have many more details to offer other than that.
I guess I cleared it.
But then there was a funny line when someone was asking about the Gainwell plays.
And he was like, I don't remember what you're talking about.
And he's like, that's probably not the best thing for me to say right now.
Hey, Jalen made a joke?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Jelan made a joke there.
Yeah.
I laughed.
You know, sometimes like there's like the fake reporter laugh or the guy doesn't actually say something funny, but but that was actually a funny line, I thought.
But no, so the scene there, so when Jalen comes off the field and we all saw the hit, like I saw him on the ground there.
And I, so I was eyeing right away.
All right, is he going to get evaluated?
And Tom Hunkley, the head trainer was going over chatting with him on the bench.
And then Tom goes and talks to someone else.
And so I was like, all right, Janeline's fine.
Jalen's not like following him there.
But then next thing you know, the blue tents up, Jalen's in the end of the tent.
The half ends.
Everyone's going off the field.
The tent's still up.
About 30 seconds later, Jalen comes out.
He jogs into the locker room.
then he's the last one out coming on onto the field in the second half.
This isn't atypical.
He's usually the last one out coming onto the field in the second half.
But there was obviously intrigue there.
And then he went right to the exercise bike.
And when he went to the exercise bike, I'm like, all right, he's good.
He's not going on the exercise bike if he's not coming back out here.
And, yeah, I mean, he played a little bit better in the second half.
So to the second part of the question, this Devante thing,
this is going to be important for us to monitor.
Devante was, I thought, slow getting touches tonight.
You saw the play up the middle of the field,
like what Devante can do for this offense.
But this is a passing offense that's,
I don't want to say disoriented right now,
but it's not maximizing what it can do.
Like, AJ Brown, with the matchup he had,
could have been 100-yard receiver tonight.
You know, Devante can be that type of player most weeks.
and it was it's it's not there and they should have done more against the commander's defense now jellan
said 450 yards of offense you can't really complain about that right and jowen was really more harping
on not finishing in the red zone but i do think they need to get this passing game going better than
they have no doubt about it uh last thing from me any any concern or or word in the locker room on
Jake Elliott's misses.
Yeah, so I didn't get a chance to speak to Jake.
He was talking when I was talking to some other guys.
But, you know, Nick Siriani said Jake's kick clutch kicks before.
I heard players in the end, the locker room saying, you know, Jake's still the best,
you know, in the league, that kind of things.
But look, me speaking here, this has to be on your radar.
And by the way, I remember the Ravens preseason game.
I'm asking Nick, any concerns about Jake?
Right?
Because, I mean, this has been going on since the preseason.
And the inconsistencies, you know, I've known, I mean, I've seen Jake Elliott, you know,
Vinny has a Super Bowl ring in part because Jake Elliott was, was money that year, right?
What?
No, no, I said the same thing.
They're on the same page.
Oh, oh, okay, okay.
Yeah.
And last year, you know, right behind me here, Jake Elliott.
He was their appeal last year.
Yeah.
Yeah, so, but something's off right now.
And we've seen it with Justin Tucker down to Baltimore.
The best kickers go through it.
But when you get to December, January, maybe February,
you can't be missing the volume of field goals that he's missing.
And, you know, you look at Buffalo last year.
Buffalo had a great kicker.
Misses a makeable kick in the playoffs and Kansas City advances.
So I don't want to be Debo Samuel or like LaShaul McCoy here and be like, you know, it's not a real member of the team.
But like the kicker has to make those kicks, right?
And I think Jake Yally would tell you the same.
So Zach, after this game, I'm curious in the Berman rankings, which storyline gets more steam here?
Saquan Barkley for league MVP or Quignan Mitchell for defensive rookie of the year?
By the way, somebody's in the chat said his odds tonight went from plus 60.
to plus 300.
Quinyan.
Ooh.
I would say Sequin.
I would say Sequin MVP.
MVP is more prestigious.
And,
yeah,
I mean,
I think Seekwon MVP is kind of the
sexier topic.
But Quinyon...
Speak for yourself.
James got himself whole around that one.
So,
Richard,
so Richard Sherman was
chatting with
Quineon after the game.
And,
a different reporter
asked Quignon what was Richard Sherman
saying to you? And Richard Sherman's message
was catch the ball.
Because if
you want Quignon to be a defensive player
of the year, it's not going to be because
of the PFF grades. It's going to be
I'm sorry, defensive rookie of the year. It's not going to be because
of the PFF grades. There's going to have to be
more play. Yeah, there's going to
have to be more plays on the ball. Now, tonight,
the ball wasn't really thrown in his direction.
Right? But
yeah, there's going to have to be more plays
on the ball presumably. What Sequin's doing here is it's just otherworldly. I put this number
out there. It'll be in my story tomorrow. The Eagles had 1,000 yard rushers and pro bowlers the
past two years combined. Those two guys, Miles Sanders and DeAndre Swift, did not have the amount
or the volume of 100-yard rushing games that Saquant Barclay has this season. Think about that.
Like what Sequin is doing here is, it's relatively, I mean, I guess something can't be relatively unprecedented.
It is, like, it's without compare in Eagles history or at least modern Eagles history.
And he's the leading rusher in the NFL.
And he is, you know, look, Jalen, AJ, Devante are probably not having like the overall seasons that maybe they could.
And Sequan's been the guy.
And, you know, Lane Johnson said he saw this early in training camp.
And he said the other thing about Sequin is, like, how well Sequons fit in.
And like he, I think Lane called him tonight the glue of this locker room.
So, uh, Seqon's, you know, Sequon's been, been a real big piece of what they're doing.
So he said, obviously, he said, yeah, he set a franchise record tonight.
most 140 plus yard games with multiple touchdowns.
He did it for the third time this season.
That's the most in franchise history,
not just in one season,
in franchise history.
And they play 10 games.
And, you know, in theory, you, yeah.
I mean, I'll defer to Vinny on this,
but, you know, one thing that players always say
is that it's harder to stop the run in December and the cold weather, right?
And so we haven't even, you know, and by the way, after next week in L.A.,
the Eagles don't fly again.
Four of their last five games are at home.
There's going to be, and it's against teams, it's against teams that are going to be out of it.
There's going to be some guys making business decisions out there, I imagine,
who we're going to be like, you know, the fourth, you know, the third quarter of a two-touchdown game,
do I want to be getting in Sequon's way?
Right?
When Cabo is calling, right?
So, yeah, I mean, look, Sequin.
Caquan's looking, Sequin might be looking at 1,700, 1800,
I mean, dare I say, 2,000 yards.
He's been that type of player.
So Zach, Tony Gonzalez just said it on the broadcast.
He thinks the Eagles are the best team in the NFC.
If Zach Berman had to pick lions or Eagles right now, who you got?
I'm going to Detroit because, yeah, I just think, like,
Detroit's A game this year, I think's been, been better.
But look, the Eagles are going to be in the end to think of this year.
And it's going to be great.
It's going to be fun to watch.
I just have to think, I look at the way Detroit finished last year, the way they played
in the postseason, they were better at the end of last year.
I think they've been more consistent this season.
But with the way this Eagles defense is playing, and look, Detroit lost Aiden and Hutchinson.
The Eagles had all 22 starters healthy tonight.
So we'll see how this goes.
But I just think the Eagles are eight and two.
And they have one more flight left.
And like I said, they're at home throughout December.
There's a chance you're looking at a 13, like a 12, 13 win team.
Yeah, they could be at one seat very easily.
Yeah.
Yeah.
There you go.
And that changes everything.
As we're like, it's much different.
it is much different if you are the two seed and you have to win three games and you have to go to maybe Detroit.
And we all heard what that was what that stadium was like last year when the Lions hosted a playoff game, you know, against the Rams.
Prepare that to a first round by and teams having to come in here and win.
if the Eagles and Lions were playing on this field
on what January 25th or whatever
I would take the Eagles in that game.
There you go.
All right, Zach Berman, it's after 1 o'clock.
Two quick things.
Go ahead, go ahead.
Oh, okay, yeah, yeah.
I'm trying to let you go.
I'm going to get Vinnie to sleep.
My bad, my bad, yeah.
No, no, I need to hear these final observations.
I'll just give us your things.
I'll just give one thing because,
no, because Beau and I have a show.
Zach, Zach.
Yeah, no.
No, no, Beau and I have a show in 13 hours.
So we can talk about it.
But the play that a lot of people were talking about in the locker room was Grant Calcutera's
Femble Recovery.
I spoke to Grant Calcuttaire about this.
And Grant was like pumped about it too because he's like, this is exactly what they're
coached up on.
And he said he was actually running.
He was sprinting downfield to make a block because he thought Dallas was going to cut in.
But that's that's a type, you know, the game could be.
different if that doesn't happen. So that play came up and then everything else we can kind of
touch on tomorrow. No, give us the other thing. You said two things. Oh, yeah. I was just going to say
like the overall, you know, what CJ Gardner Johnson, I mentioned it before, but like the confidence
that this team has and, you know, CJ who's, who's, I don't know, I don't know if I would say reliable
narrator, because he always kind of has that provado.
But when he was talking about this defense and he was kind of asked about how this
defense compares to two years ago, and he's like, everyone can play.
All three levels, everyone can play.
And just, uh, who was he throwing out of the bus?
I don't know.
Yeah, I wasn't quite sure what that was referring to.
And then the other thing I'll throw in there is there's just a lot of, you know,
J.on Carter love in that locker room, too, for the way Jone Carter was playing.
Yes. I think I don't know how much we talked about it, but he was a beast.
This was his second best game of season. He was he was fantastic tonight.
Well, I want to, I mean, I felt like every drawback pass, he was damn there getting in a hurry.
Yeah. Yeah. Some type of he was, yeah, he was, he dominated.
And Zach, you and I were sitting next to each other. It felt like early on, he got into it a little bit.
And I think it was actually the, the long Austin Echler play where there was some pushing and shoving afterwards that got them riled up.
and I was like, I know Joe's like,
oh, Jalen Carter's like ready to go now.
This is, they've lit his feelings.
Oh, yeah.
It's awesome watching game with Bo.
Bo's in tune on everything going on.
I will end it with this when you talk about pushing and shoving.
We talk about pushing and shoving.
Vinnie might know the answer.
If he doesn't, he would,
Vinny had a former teammate who was in the locker room after the game.
Okay.
Not a current member of the Eagles.
So I haven't seen a long time.
who's one of the great pushers and shovers that I have covered during my 13 years on the beat.
I don't want to drag this on until 1.30 a.m.
So I'll just give you context clues.
He played cornerback for the Eagles.
And he was a fun guy to cover.
I was always honest.
And there you go.
Carrie Williams was there.
It was good thing.
Carrie Williams was there.
Wow.
Carrey Williams was there.
Yeah, Wisconsin.
I love Carol Williams.
Yeah, Brenda Graham brought him into the locker room and I went right up.
And Kerry was probably like, why is this?
Yeah, why is this little guy coming right up to me?
But yeah, I said, Carrie, Zach Berman, great to see you again.
Yeah.
That's great.
I love that.
Was he here for Vinny Curry night?
I guess that.
Was he here for Vinny Curry night?
He kissed it right away.
How do that mean?
I have one more question for both of you then.
In the very beginning of that podcast.
that we referenced earlier.
The one from 10 years ago.
Zach is not a part of it in any way.
And yet his name comes up in the first three minutes
because I am relaying the story
that the night before, apparently,
Zach mentions that he and Vinnie
went to dinner at the same place.
They ran into each other.
Do either of you remember where that was?
Vinnie won't.
I know exactly where that was.
Yeah, I remember exactly.
exactly what I was. I have a fun. Yeah, it was at a raw sushi. Okay. And this might have,
this was probably 2014. Correct. Uh, if memory serves. And I was dating my wife at the time.
And, um, and she had like, um, she had like a pet peeve that like people would, you know,
because at the time I was on TV like once a week. And so I, I guess like, people were starting, like,
recognize my faith.
Yeah, people are starting to recognize my face a bit.
And so, like, we would be out to eat.
And, like, people would, like, come up to the dinner table and say hello.
And you know what me?
Like, I'm talking to everybody and, like, oh, what's your name?
That kind of thing.
And she would get really annoyed.
And so, and so Vinny being the nicest player in the world, you know, we're leaving.
And she doesn't know Vinny's a player.
She's not an Neegles fan, right?
And so we're leaving.
And Vinny comes and says hello.
And she's like, to me, she's like, is this guy really have to interrupt us?
And I'm like, like, this guy.
I was like, I promise you, everyone in this restaurant,
knows who he is they don't know who i am so uh yeah i remember that well it was raw it was it was raw on
what wealth and sandsom that sound right yeah yeah you said you were just getting into sushi
yeah there you go i was just getting in emily so that was the uh oh
Oh, I mean, like, I mean, like, I mean, we had just started dating.
That was the kind of thing I meant.
Sorry.
Yeah, don't misinterpret that anyway.
All right.
I'm going to go.
I'm going to go right, okay?
Please don't mention the trip to that.
Don't get me in trouble back home.
All right.
That's nothing.
All right.
Mature up in there.
Guys, come on.
Mature up.
Oh.
That did, yeah.
That was not meant to be a joke.
I hate anything else for the name is like.
Ladies and gentlemen.
What's your story tomorrow?
My story tomorrow.
Nobody better.
You don't have to say anything else.
We'll check out all p.hly.com
to read it.
It'll be up in tomorrow.
Tomorrow at 2 o'clock.
I'm getting myself a 4 a.m. deadline.
Oh, man.
That's perfect.
That was worth everything.
That's great.
Congratulations on all your success.
all right uh fran let's let's let me first hey hey listen to man the sushi
yeah it works got the job done um god all right let's let's wrap things up fran as you
watch the tape tomorrow where the things that you're most excited to watch uh quignon
for sure yeah yeah yeah i want to see i want to see what the covers looked like um
And then the past game, just see, you know, some of the things that we saw there.
I tried to hold it.
I'm thinking about Jamie and the Brands started to just get into Quinn Young.
This is after hours.
P.H.L.Y. Eagles after hours.
Unbelievable.
Give us a thumbs up for Zach Berman,
ladies and gentlemen.
What a draw.
Zach, Zach.
Make sure you're all subscribed.
This is what you get every week.
The man got married after that.
Yeah, that's right.
So she worked.
So she worked.
Vinnie, Vinnie coming over to say,
I was what, I mean, the magic touch, Vinnie.
It started even back then.
Shut out to Raw.
Hit the like button.
make sure you subscribe and all that good stuff.
Jamie, any final thoughts from you?
Quignan Mitchell, I love you.
Jack Berman, you're amazing.
Fantastic.
Man.
Vinny, what a day it's been for you.
Man, for real.
And listen,
another thing is we have to sit back and understand
Nolan the way he.
He played really good.
Yeah, you're right.
You're absolutely right.
This is what I was.
It's going on four games now.
you're absolutely right
we haven't talked about Bryce off
because that was such a story early on
it's just accepted at this point that he's right now
the fifth guy in that in that edge rotation
had a handful of snaps tonight he's playing
with the club thing but the reason
that it is not as big of a deal right now
that their highest paid offseason acquisition
is not playing up to the
contract is that Nolan
is a real player
right now and
after a quiet rookie season
he is absolutely a functional part of this past
rush right now. I made this point to Zach the other day.
It was around this time, I think, last year, that
they started giving Nolan Smith more
workload, and you're kind of seeing almost like
a reciprocal Jalyn, Jalix Hunt type
of thing this year, where like week 11,
12, starting to get more playing time,
starting to trust him a little bit more.
But Nolan's been great. Jalick's came over, gave
me some love before the game. Oh, yeah, he'll be a good player.
Yeah. He's definitely going to be a good player.
And Josh sweat, too. Another, what is,
is that five games in a row? Yeah,
I think he didn't have one last week.
He did not have one last week. It caused me a sweep of
point. It's the only reason I know.
Okay. There you go. They're rolling, man.
They're playing together. They're rolling.
Yeah. It's a very likable defense.
It is an extremely likable defense.
No question. It's fun. It's fun. It's fun for like the film guys,
schematically. It's fun just the energy they play with.
And I saw Chris Franklin or somebody caught up with Terry McLaren in the commander's
locker room. And he was praising Quignon Mitchell. He said he does not play like a rookie.
He was impressed. He said, that is a good cornerback.
He does not play like Giroki.
All right.
Well, that'll do it for this episode of the P.H.O.Y Eagles post-game show.
We are back tomorrow at 2 o'clock, Zach and me,
and maybe a little check-in from Fran from a distance.
And then we've got a nice long lead-up next week, 2 o'clock every day,
to the Rams game next Sunday as the Eagles sit now at 8 and 2
in commanding position in the NFC East.
and all of a sudden chasing the number one seed in the NFC.
But tonight we will remember the Saquan runs.
We will remember the defense.
But I think most of all we're going to remember Vinnie Curry night.
And we are very grateful that Vinny graced us with his presence tonight on such a great day.
You need to get some sleep.
You've had a long day.
No doubt.
And a big emotional day.
So thanks to everybody for watching and listening.
Thanks to everybody who watched the watch along during the show and handsome rich for being a part of that.
Thanks to Julia and Chris for making it all happen behind the scenes.
We will talk to you tomorrow at 2 o'clock.
And as always, we love you.
