This is the P.H.L. Yagles podcast, Bo Wolf, Zach Berman,
strap in, everybody. We are here for the long haul over the course of this afternoon as news begins to swirl.
And before the show even started today, we got some Big Eagles news.
Zach Berman, how are you? How is your weekend?
How diverse is your set of vests? Unbelievable.
I'm doing well.
I'm excited for free agency.
I'm excited for the football news.
I'm excited for the show to an extent.
I don't know what it's going to be like in hour two or hour three or hour four.
I mean, we're just doing what you'd be doing anyway.
We're just sitting here in front of Twitter.
What do you want?
Oh, with a camera in front of me.
But no, I like to...
What are you worried about?
I like to send text out.
I want to be...
You can do the Shepter thing.
Send your text while you're on the air.
You're dingin already.
Yes.
Dinging already.
I had to have the volume off there.
So...
Wait, what did you do?
Jeffrey say? So, excited for the show, excited for free agency. And my weekend was nice,
busy Eagles weekend. And we was just kind of waiting for Monday. And what was the third question
about the vest? Yeah. I don't know. It's a big day. I'm trying to dress up. So.
What is that? What is that? I can't rep Yukon hockey? Absolutely. Yeah, you rep Yukon.
I've never, I've never known anyone who has as many vests as you have. As many.
Yeah. I have two in the rotation.
Oh, you got more than two.
I had some in a pretty, you know, a few years ago.
Those got swapped out.
What happened? You lost the sleeves?
Oh, ha, ha, ha.
No.
We're four minutes into the show.
Four minutes into the show.
Yeah. So the big news before the show started.
Can I say it or did you have it?
No, go ahead.
Okay. The Eagles agreed to terms with Land and Dixon on a four-year deal.
big move for the Eagles.
According to multiple reports, he's signing for the, he'll become the highest paid guard in the NFL based on average annual salary at $21 million.
Before this was Chris Lindstrom at $20.5 million.
So big number, we can get into that.
But you and I both expected the Eagles to make a hard push to sign Lyndon Dickerson to an extension before the season.
there was more urgency there than with Devante Smith, like we discussed two weeks ago now,
because Smith has that fifth year option, Dickerson would be going into his contract year.
I'm a bit surprised by the number, given that he's really good.
I didn't know if he was going to set the market.
I thought it was going to be more like in that 18 to 20 range, but good for him,
and it's probably an indication that the market's going to keep going up at guard.
But big move for the Eagles, and I think the big bull point here is the Eagles don't let
their homegrown guys out the building.
All right. We're going to get into Land and Dickerson.
We've got a lot of time to talk about that as the show goes on.
But I want to start here because like the ball drops on noon and like the national reporters
have some things that they've been saving and are seating out there.
And so in these first couple minutes, a few little Eagles related things.
Adam Schaefter says that the bears are expected to make a major push.
And this is a fun time of how you talk around things that you know are going to happen to land
the Eagles free agent running back D'Andre Swift per sources.
So if you read that, that sort of certainly sounds like D'Andre Swift is going to Chicago.
And then Diana Rossini says that the Eagles and Texans are expected to have strong interest
in signing running back Saquan Barkley per sources.
So two things very early out there from an Eagle standpoint.
The Saquan thing we have talked about, the links there.
It's hard to convince yourself that the Eagles would really be willing to pay at the top of the market.
we're running back, but I can sort of see it.
Well, I believe that the more good players you have, the better.
And Sequan's a really good player.
And so I wouldn't criticize a team for signing someone who's at the top of the league at his position.
That said, it would surprise me if the Eagles signed Seekoine Barkley at the number that's being reported at.
If that number comes down, I think if it's in the 8 to 10 range,
then you're talking, then, okay, I can listen to that.
If it's like the 12 million range, that would surprise me from the Eagles' perspective.
We'll see.
I could be wrong.
Connor Hughes from S&Y says the Eagles and Giants are among the teams.
I've heard linked to pass rusher Bryce Huff.
A return to the Jets isn't out of the question.
And Diana Rossini, again, doubling down on the Eagles, she is very plugged in, says Xavier McKinney is a top target for the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles.
I do think that just knowing the Eagles' organizational priorities and philosophy,
fees. We know they value the offensive line, but if, like, their two big moves of free agency
are paying a guard $20 million and signing a running back for, you know, $10 million, that's
kind of like not their M.O. Well, I don't think the Dickerson move is part of this free agency,
really. Actually, what it does is it, it buys you a little more cap space for this year, right?
But this is more, you're just signing a core player over the next, you know,
it's five-year contract basically this year and then the four-year extension.
So that's actually kind of helping you cap-wise to sign more players this year to a certain extent.
Well, I'm not talking about the cap, though.
I'm talking about like where they're putting their money.
No, not the headlines.
From a team-building philosophy, a guard and a running back, like those are not premium positions.
Well, did you think they weren't going to keep Dickerson?
No, but I'm just saying, take a step back from that.
And from a team-building philosophy, that's like Chicago Bears type stuff.
Like, go sign Nate Davis for $15 million.
And, you know, like, those are not positions that necessary.
Now, the guard market is kind of crazy.
You know, you saw how much Kevin Dotson got.
I don't think that the Dickerson is a deal is a bad deal.
I'm just saying, take a step back.
Sure.
Like, that's not edge rusher, course.
cornerback tackle and quarterback and wide receiver, the five most important positions,
that's spending it on more, you know, replaceable positions.
Sure, yeah.
Yeah, no, I hear you there.
I don't think we need to be combative at eight minutes in on a four-hour show.
I don't think the two moves that they make are going to be guard and running back is what I'm saying.
So that's where, yeah, it's, yeah, if those are their two headlining moves today,
guard and running back, then that would really surprise me.
and that would be uncharacteristic of them.
I think edge rusher is, you know, I wrote it today.
We discussed it last week.
I'm expecting Bryce Huff to be a target for the Eagles.
We talked yesterday's show,
and then we had a thing on Saturday about potentially trading Hassan Reddick
and or Josh Sweat.
So there's going to be edge rusher movement.
We've talked for a few weeks now about them going after.
Safety.
I think they pay money at safety.
It's just a matter of how high they're willing to go.
you were on the Xavier McKinney train before anyone else was
in terms of that should be the ideal fit.
We'll see what that contract will look like.
And I'm sorry, I got the algorithm.
My 4-U, something came up with the Eagles.
You can't be doing for you on this day.
Are you nuts?
Sorry, I saw something from 54 minutes ago.
What is this your first day?
Your first day is a reporter?
What are you doing?
from 54 minutes ago.
For you on the day of NFL?
Like, are you kidding me?
So you should do the following.
Yes, yes.
You're right.
You nuts?
So anyways, yeah, so I'm expecting them.
I had a prediction thing at the end of my column today.
You can check that out.
I expected them today in the next few days to trade one of their edge rushers, but I don't
think both.
I think they signed Bryce Huff.
I think they're active in the safety market.
Xavier McKinney, if they can get them at the right price.
If not, I would look for CJ Gardner Johnson.
I think they're in the middle of the market at lineback or not the top of the market.
I think that I predicted, and I could prove to be wrong, that they don't get Sequin Barclay
because they don't pay big at running back.
Again, I could be wrong, we will see.
And then my fifth one there is that I think they trade for a corner.
I think the corner help comes via trade, and we discussed this actually last week in terms of
the types of players they could trade for.
but it could be a big name potentially,
especially if you get a draft pick or draft picks
for your Reddick or Sweat.
Like you can look at it as redistributing.
So basically if you trade Reddick or Sweat,
you spend money in free agency on an edge rusher,
and then you trade for a corner,
it's a way of kind of redistributing those resources.
And so who is on your radar there?
Legerius Sneed, Patrick Sertan, J.C. Horn, is that?
Yeah, well,
Well, so we spoke last week about Marshawn Latimore.
We spoke about Seneed.
I don't know about Seneed, but the name that I think would be like the ideal player for them.
And we've talked about this in the past.
There's Patrick Sartan.
The Broncos are clearly going through something there.
Like they're, I don't want to say rebuilding, but they traded Jerry Judy.
What a crazy take in the chat that rigatone sucks.
Rigatoni is great.
They traded Jerry Judy over the weekend.
Good deal.
Andrew Barry keeps getting these wide receivers at good prices.
So they did that.
Well, how about this?
Your boy.
I'm sorry.
There might be a lot of interrupting today.
Always interrupt with news.
Your boy, Mike Garifolo.
The Bears have agreed to terms with DeAndre Swift on a three-year $24 million deal.
Good for DeAndre.
Your guess there is that third year probably is fake.
It's probably like a two-year $16 million deal.
but $8 million a year, if that's what it is for DeAndre.
Except what are the Bears doing?
We haven't talked about they're paying Kevin Byard a lot of money.
Yes, that's true.
What are they doing?
Yeah.
Well, first of all, I think Swift's a really good player, have been on record with that.
He's coming off a career year, still young.
Good, you know, he's a good young player.
I thought that because of the amount or the volume of running backs on the market,
volume starting running backs on the market, his market might be depressed a bit,
and therefore the Eagles might get a,
him on a one-year deal. Clearly, that's not the case. He gets good starting running back money.
And we talked about that. Like, for a running back, sign in the first two hours.
Absolutely. That's the thing. Because if you miss the window when teams are willing to pay,
like, you have a chance to totally bottom out. Yeah. No, you're absolutely right. And so good for
Swift here. Yeah. And look, if Swift is getting $8 million, you, I don't think Berkeley gets $8 million.
And I think Berkeley gets more than that, right? So Barclay's probably in that 10 to 12,
range. And if you're there, I don't know if the Eagles go there. I keep thinking there's going to be
a running back that's going to fall to the Eagles at 5 million a year. But if they want Barclay,
they're going to have to pay for Berkeley. And good job by Mike G.A reporting that.
I think I would rather, I don't know. Would I rather, like, I might rather pay
Sequin 11 than pay like Tony Pollard 7.
or I don't know
or like, you know, Zach Moss 4.
Yes.
I don't know.
I think they might think that Sequin has a chance
to really be a differentiator for them in the offense.
Whereas, like, everybody else is just going to be good,
and that's fine.
And, like, good, you don't pay for good.
You might want to pay for great if you think he's great.
It's a good point.
And if you think he's great, if you think he can be,
I don't want to say Christian McCaffrey,
but a Christian McCaffrey type effect, right?
He can help you in the passing game
and the running game.
He can block that makes sense.
It's just, it's uncharacteristic of the Eagles.
They haven't paid a running back like that.
Well, Howie hasn't since Lashon McCoy.
By the way, this is the second year in a row
that the first deal of free agency
has been the Bears signing an ex-Eagle.
Yeah, seriously.
And someone who basically, the whole league
could have gotten last year for nothing,
but you're absolutely right.
At a, at a, like, replaceable position.
Like, for good money.
TJ Edwards last year.
Yeah.
So does this change the way you view?
Does this change the way you view what the Eagles do at running back?
I mean, if that number is real and it's 8 million a year,
then I think, because like I would have thought that Swift was the fifth guy, right?
Yes.
Now, I would rather have him that, like Josh Jacobs, I just, I would worry that his legs
are done. Like the workload is too
crazy. And Swift
you can hope for some upside. But like Swift
that's the only year he's ever been healthy. I would
be a little bit worried about that. That's your point of
like don't pay for a career year.
It changes it a little bit because if he's
going for that, then the guys who are sub
him are probably going to go for like
five, right? And I don't, I wouldn't want to pay
you know, pick your
you know, like
if it's J.K. Dobbins for
five million.
I don't mind that because there's some upside there.
But the rest of the guys, like the Zach Mosses, the Austin Ecklers,
I'm not paying those guys $5, $6 million.
Swift got $15.3 million guaranteed, according to Adam Schepter.
So basically two years in a row for the Eagles,
they're starting running back leaves and gets a good contract elsewhere.
You can also look at that and say, like, in this offense,
the Eagles can find running backs.
Now, I think Swift is a really good player.
I thought Miles Sanders was a good player
but Miles Sanders did not have a good year in Carolina
we'll see how Swift does in Chicago
yeah the Sequan thing is interesting
I wouldn't rip them if they made that move
because I've always said I get Blue Chip players
you win with Blue Chip players
I don't like paying B players A money I'm okay
paying A players A money
I just think there's other options at running back
and the delta between what you're going to get
at a discounted rate
and the top of the market there.
I don't know if I love that, but we'll see.
I think if you're selling Sequin,
I mean, he has been in a terrible offensive
and like a terrible environment his entire career.
Yeah, he hasn't aligned.
A bad old line and a terrible quarterback
and has been, and like bad receivers.
Like he has been the only thing on offense.
And so, you know, it's not dissimilar to like the Niners thinking
and going to get Christian McCaffrey.
Like you take that guy.
who has been the only thing on the offense
and put him in a place where he is not going to be the focal point
of opposing defenses and there's going to be more space for him,
just think about what he can do.
I think if you envision him in the Eagles offense,
you can sell yourself on, well, if they've got to account for J.
lyn Hertz as a runner, and then they've got to worry about A.J. Brown and Devante Smith,
like, there's a chance that Sequin Barkley can be, like, unbelievable
and give them, like, an explosive dynamic that they have not really had,
like Swift had it for a couple games.
I am open to that.
Yeah.
And if the price is, if the price is 10 or 11 or even 12, like I don't, it's, I am not ever the guy who wants to pay a running back.
But I can, I can sort of see that line of thinking.
Yeah, I'm okay with paying A players, A money.
I see that line of thinking too.
I just need to see how this whole picture comes together.
I also think I say this tongue in cheek, but there might be some validity to it.
it's the PHLY bump, right?
Zaire Franklin comes on our show.
He gets, what, 11 million a year?
Yeah, good point.
DeAndre Swift comes on our show.
He gets 8 million a year?
I mean, come on, guys.
Like, we have a third seat in that other room.
If you're a pending free agent, this is where to come.
Fletch, Covey.
The GMs are watching, right?
GMs are watching, you got Ryan Pools and Ian Cunningham there being like.
Oh, wow.
Speaking of which, look at this, the Kansas,
city chiefs have signed D'Andre Carter to a $300 million guaranteed deal.
He actually had me gone for a second.
It looks like Dionne Dawkins, Temple Zone, South Jersey Zone, is being released.
It looks like.
He says it was good while it lasted Buffalo.
Peace out.
Wow, Buffalo is really getting rid of everybody.
Everybody, yeah.
Except they got Mitch Trubisky.
They're good.
Mr. Biscuit.
Yes.
That's interesting.
Okay.
All right.
As there is a bit of a pause here, let's dig in a little bit more on Dickerson.
and just like the scope of what he brings to the table here
because they draft him as a second round pick.
He falls to the second round in large part
because he dealt with a lot of injuries in college,
two different ACL tears, another season-ending injury,
and he has been very durable here for the Eagles.
Certainly, I would say that whenever Lane Johnson retires,
like you expect that Lennon Dickerson is the best offensive lineman on the team,
he has the versatility.
I think obviously they like what they have with him and Milana playing next to each other.
I think they certainly are always going to want to have the offensive line taken care of,
and not only is he very good and has he been very durable,
but he can play multiple positions.
So as you project how you're going to fill the offensive line out,
that gives you some flexibility, as you said, they were never going to let him go.
And the reason to prioritize this, as Jimmy,
Kemsky said, and shout out to Jimmy for breaking this because a local guy getting this is fantastic.
Yes, credit to Jimmy.
That, like, Devante, they have the fifth-year option.
They have, like, the franchise tag.
Whereas for a guard, you would not do the franchise tag, and he doesn't have the fifth-year option,
so there's more urgency to get it done.
And the way that the guard market is going, like, he may not be the highest-paid guard in NFL history for very long.
So it's all sort of expected.
It's a little bit pricey, and it's a lot for.
or a guard.
But as you said, I guess there was never really any other option for them.
Yeah, the only thing that I found surprising was that it set the market, right?
I mean, I knew he was going to get the top of the market.
We're near the top of the market.
I didn't know if he was going to get quite Quentin Nelson, Chris Lindstrom money.
Those are the only two who are at that $20 million range.
Of course, the market goes, you know, cap goes up, the market goes up.
There's the NFL version of inflation there.
So I get that.
And I'm not going to fault them for keeping a pro-ball,
all-pro caliber player.
It is, look, they're clearly going through a transition
in the offensive line over the next few years.
I don't expect them to sign a starting right guard.
I think that's going to be Tyler Steen.
I could be wrong.
I think that's going to be Tyler Steen, though.
Or maybe a draft pick who has tackle guard versatility.
Cam Juergens is your starting center.
He's going to have two years at that spot on,
on a rookie deal.
You and I have discussed that Nauseum,
and we will during the month of April,
drafting a right tackle.
If Lane Johnson has this year and next year,
which is kind of the timeline he's told you,
then you have a starting right tackle on a rookie contract
for two to three years after Lane Johnson retires.
So there's ways you look at it and you say,
all right, they're going to invest X percent of their cap in the offensive line.
So here you have Milata and you'll Landa Dickerson on big deals.
You have Lane Johnson, but Lane Johnson's deal is going to be up.
They're going to have to re-sign Jordan, Milata at some point here.
But yeah, this is, it was just a matter of what the number was.
It wasn't a matter of whether they would keep them or not.
Let me ask you this.
And I was thinking about this with Kelsey and Cox retiring and Brandon Graham resigning over the weekend,
about to play his final 15th season.
Lane, as you said, maybe a couple of years left.
who do you think on the roster currently will be the last remaining eagle and let's take Jake
Elliot out of the equation.
Okay.
On the current roster, who will be the last man standing?
Good question.
I like this.
Didn't think about this and do any prep work on this?
I guess I'll go Jalen Carter.
Okay.
Trying to think.
Yeah.
Yeah, I will go Jailen Carter.
I mean, Jailen Carter was really young when they did.
drafted him. Yeah. Premium position, like premium player. Unless something happens, I think they're
going to want, he's a guy to be, he's a chance to be one of the best players at his position
over the next decade. So, yeah, I'll go Jaylon Carter. Okay. I think I might go Lennon Diggerson.
Now, Len Dickerson is older as it is, you know, he's a fifth-year player. Right. Right. And so
you're counting on him to be playing into his third, like, right? And the body's got to hold up.
I think he can make a case for my lot of two.
Sure.
You could make a case for Devante.
Couldn't make a case for Devante, that's true.
Are you making a case for Jalen?
Carter or Hertz that is?
I don't know.
That's not really the arc of the Eagles franchise
to have a quarterback.
Yes, it's true.
Stick around for 10 years.
It's true.
I don't know.
I feel like Jalen Carter actually would surprise me a little bit.
Yeah.
I mean, at the rate it's going now, I'd probably say nootongiae.
because they keep bringing him back.
That's good.
I like that.
Okay.
All right.
It's kind of slow going early on here.
Oh, you expected this.
I expected there to be a little bit more floodgates open, but this is, I guess this paces.
Wait, so now Adam Schuptor saying that, I hope this is the right, Adam Schaftor,
that Dionne Dawkins is signing a three-year $60.5 million extension.
So, oh, Dion played a trick on us.
All right.
That's good.
I like that.
I respect that.
Yes, Dion's a guy after Bo's heart in that regard.
That's very funny. Good for him.
He said, peace out.
That's that Temple Communications.
It's a man who knows what he's doing.
I like that.
Good job by Dionne Dawkins.
And thanks.
We have Chris and Julia in the studio here helping us out with everything.
We appreciate that as always.
Jeremy Fowler says the Eagles attempted.
Did P.H.O.I. just get an Apple as a sponsor.
That's good.
Jeremy Fowler says the Eagles.
Eagles attempted to re-sign DeAndre Swift before the tampering period with an offer, but Swift waited it out and cashes in.
Interesting.
What's interesting there is if you thought, like, they were confident they were getting Sequin.
That's not the case if they were trying to keep Swift.
Again, I thought they would try to, maybe, maybe, I mean, I'm saying this partly in Jess.
Maybe Hallie read my piece.
If I were Hallie Roseman and said, DeAndre, there's eight guys on the market here.
You sign a one-year deal with us.
You hit the market next year, 26,
and then you can get a three-year $24 million deal.
And DeAndre says, Howie, I'm going to get myself a $3 million deal.
I just have to call Ryan Poles.
Boom.
There you go.
Today is also a fun, like how the sausage gets made,
just watching the news disseminate,
like how you can pretty reliably count on one of the major guys
will break who's going where,
and then the other one will quickly follow up with the contract details.
And, like, you know, the Lina Dickerson thing from this morning,
like, you know, Jimmy Kemsky breaks it, but like then they couldn't let him have it.
Like, you know, like then they got to push out the Eagles announcement.
It's like last night, it's like within 75 seconds of each other,
it's like Schaefter, then Rapport, then the Russell Wilson video of the Russell Wilson signing.
Can't you just let Russell Wilson announce that one maybe?
I don't know.
I don't know.
It's just a...
I don't know.
They all have jobs to do, right?
I don't put the Jimmy thing, I'm with you on, right?
But the Schaefter and those guys are doing their jobs.
Garifolo.
They're doing their jobs.
I respect it.
Yeah.
I'm not debating that they're doing their jobs.
You're debating what?
I'm not really debating anything, although I could debate something, but I'm not going to do that now.
All right. How was your weekend, Zach?
I had a nice weekend. I took my son to basketball on Saturday.
He played. He had his best Saturday. He had some other ones that were good.
But he loved it. We had fun. We went out for pizza afterwards.
Nice.
Then the Eagles, you know, I taped a video that you can find on PHY on our YouTube channel.
about, and then thanks to Julia for helping me out with that on kind of the news on Saturday.
The Brandon Graham news came out.
The Josh Sweat news came out.
So did that.
Yesterday I had some book, some bookwork like I was working on a book that I'm working on.
Nice.
When I said bookwork, I thought it would sound like I was, you know, doing my bookkeeping?
Yeah.
I was working on a book.
Okay.
And.
Flex.
Is that a flex?
Writing a book, yeah, I'd say so.
It's a flex when you've written a book, not writing a book.
I mean, you've got a book deal.
I feel like that's a flex.
Well, thank you.
Pretty clearly, yeah.
Okay, all right.
We've already congratulated, Jonathan.
Everybody knows about this.
I was working on that, and then came Fletcher Cox.
The definitive Jay Liggins' biography, right?
I would love to write that.
That was a fascinating story.
2019 was a fun year.
Creative theater.
And then the Fletcher Cox News came out,
and that consumed a lot of my time and attention.
And then had a nice dinner last night with family.
Ah, Sunday dinner.
Yeah, Sunday dinner.
And then last night I started working.
I had to file some expenses for work.
I got to do that.
And then I caught Curb Your Enthusiasm,
and I watched the United States of Scandal.
So that was my, and I had the Sixers on the background, of course.
Okay.
No Oscars for you?
No Oscars.
Your favorite documentary won, Best Picture.
Yeah, it was a good picture.
Yeah, I expected that.
That was the only one that I saw of all the ones.
I want to give, I wanted to watch Maestro because the lead actor went to Julia's High School.
But I haven't watched that yet.
I love the story of you using the Bradley Cooper line and in your speech to the,
students so much. I think that is so funny.
Yeah, it didn't work.
It's so funny that you thought that was going to land well.
I thought it's going to land. They're not land.
They're not fans of comedy, I suppose.
Tell me about your weekend.
It's also such a different, like, audience.
It's like these high school kids.
Like, they're like...
Yeah, tell me about your weekend.
You were on the road.
On the road, yeah, a lot, long road trip.
Had the kids to myself this weekend.
Rachel was out of town.
We did the...
like the five-hour drive up to Connecticut to go watch the Yukon women.
As you can see.
Take on Northeastern for the Hockey East Championship.
Should we zoom in on the-
Very first time?
They were trying to win the championship.
Northeastern had won six years in a Rozac.
And no goals in the first period.
No goals in the second period.
Third period.
Yukon gets a five-on-three for two minutes, followed by a five-minute major.
no goals goes into overtime no goals and at this point Casey and Jane like they had nothing
they tuned out yeah well it's not even that they had tuned out it was just like they were at the end of
their rope and so you know we had another five-hour drive home if this game goes into double overtime
unfortunately we're going to have to call it and with 35 seconds left in overtime
Yukon gets the goal congratulations gets to celebrate so it was all well worth it and let you
rush the ice did not rush the ice
You know, you might say that, you know, taking both kids on a five-hour road trip by herself, like, makes me hero.
That's true.
I would agree with that.
But then we had my sister Eve come back to us to Philadelphia.
Had a good weekend.
So, yeah, it was all worth it.
Congratulations to the Huskies.
Elizabeth Wolfe, what a coach.
And it was fun to watch them celebrate.
Now they've got, they go to the NCAA tournament for the first time.
They've got Minnesota Duluth in Columbus on Thursday night,
and if they win that, they take on the number one seed Ohio State Buckeyes.
How is Minnie Duluth?
A good squad?
I don't know.
I don't figure that out.
I don't have a...
Their men seems very good.
Yeah, there's too much, like, the powers that be weight everything
towards those Midwest teams too much.
It's enough.
Spread the wealth
Spread the wealth
Okay
Oh really
You fake UMD says Chris
Is a Maryland guy
Just like
The Duns
We'll get some Dunn news today
I'll be tracking Michael Dunn
In free agency
By the way
Our
Our colleagues over at CHGO
They do an awesome job
Their Bear show is great
We need to get our numbers
Up to their level
So tell your friends
To tune in to our show
But they're doing a two-hour
Free Agency frenzy
We're going four
So
Well that's how we can catch them
Yeah, just putting that out there.
They're talking sex addiction.
Let's get there, too.
We should tell with the reference.
J.1. Johnson today signs a big deal.
And he mentioned that he saw a therapist last year for a sex addiction.
So happy that Jail and Johnson is in good spirits.
And, yeah.
You have anything to add to that?
I'd sort of like to let you weight in that water by yourself, if you don't mind.
You're the one who brought it up.
You're the one who wanted to explain it.
Well, I thought it would be odd if he said sex addiction without any type of, like,
acknowledgement about what it is.
You like sex, sec?
All right.
Let's see what else is going on in the NFL world.
We should say DiMario Davis.
We should say DeMario Davis.
We should say DeMario Davis.
He reworked the final year of his deal, according to Adam Schefter.
So he replaced a two-year, 17.25 million-dollar deal.
with one that now has 13.25 guaranteed.
So linebackers early on are doing okay
between Zaire Franklin and between...
I mean, Daniel Davis is how old?
He's 35 years old.
And now he figures to finish his career with the Saints.
So the Saints investing in linebacker play.
And other than that, it's been a little quiet.
Now, I went on record with some of my predictions.
What's your prediction?
Yeah, I saw you tried to steal Blake Cashman after you...
You forcibly eliminated him from...
I didn't try to steal Blake Cashman.
Okay?
All right.
I didn't try to steal anything.
I don't.
I was simply kind of putting some dots together of, you know, things that you're hearing, things that you're not.
Players who are hitting the market, players who are you hit the market.
Anyways, get back to what you were said.
What predictions are you expecting?
I don't know.
That's what I like about this is, as we talked about on Friday show, this is when they have to tell us the truth.
Yes.
And so I'm looking forward to finding out what they think about the roster.
I would really love to know what they're going to do with the Reddick and
and Sweat trade situations.
If you had to guess which one goes first, which one?
Or which one's more likely to be moved?
I don't believe they're going to trade both.
I don't think so either.
Okay.
Which one do you think is more likely to be dope?
I think probably, I don't know.
I mean, Redick is the one who you would think is,
agitating for a trade more, right?
But sweat is the one who would probably be easier to,
like for the league to agree on his value.
Sure.
Whereas Reddick is, there's a little bit more unknown around the league.
Although I do have to say, like,
going off of the fact that Reddick didn't have a big market
when the Eagles signed him is not necessarily, like,
the most telling thing because he had two good years since then.
Like, he has proven to be, like, a reliable player over the course of four years now.
And he does what teams want the most, and that is sack the quarterback.
So, I don't know.
I just, I don't believe we're going to see some philosophical shift of the way that
Howard Roseman builds the roster just because Vic Fangio's here.
I think that's the thing that is, like, we're wondering if we're going to see some major change here,
and they're going to sign, like, two linebackers and a safety.
and a running back and like not worry about edge rusher.
I don't think that's going to happen.
I don't think that's ever going to happen under Havie.
I think it's going to be more like Vic has one or two guys he's allowed to pound the table for or positions.
He's allowed to say we need and they go from there.
Two things.
First off to the chat, please don't put fake deals in the chat right now because I'm trying to listen to Bow.
And then I see that and I get all like, wait, do I have to send the text out?
What am I missing?
Okay, so yeah, you're right.
I do want to throw one thing at you, though, with this.
Do you think because the Redick News has been out for four weeks now, three or four weeks.
The sweat thing, that was kind of percolating behind the scenes.
It just comes public yesterday.
Playing a little, you know, trying to, I don't want to be skeptical, but maybe the Reddick
market wasn't what Reddick thought it was going to be here, what the Eagles thought it was going to be one way or the other.
you think they wanted to raise the stake, you know, the sweat market.
Maybe it's like, all right, Redick's going to come back because either he's not getting the number
that he wants or we can't get the comp that we want.
They're thinking that.
So it's like, well, we have this plan of trading one of the edge rushers.
And now we need to pivot to the sweat market.
So let's put that out there to try to drum up interest in the sweat market.
And we're saying that we're willing to deal both to keep that.
I think it helps their leverage to say that they're willing to trade both for both of them.
Yes.
And it also goes to your point of if they are plotting out what their big moves are
and they want to say we need to trade for a premier corner,
but we need to get some capital in return to do that,
and we're not getting that from Reddick.
What if we could get it from sweat, would we be willing to do that and then sign Reddick?
Like, yeah, I think it absolutely helps.
them to have it out there that, you know, get your best offers in for both of these guys,
and we can go from there.
We have some people in the chat saying that we are buffering.
We are working on that as we speak, if that's the case, although on my screen here, it looks good.
We also have another big signing here from your boy, Mike G., who has broken this one.
Credit to Mike Garfur.
Jonathan Grenard, who we have talked about as one of the good up-and-coming pass rushes available.
he is going to Minnesota.
Interesting, okay.
According to Mike G.
So that is an interesting one as they replace Marcus Davenport
and Daniel Hunter, who were both headed to free agency.
Yes, and for Eagles' perspective,
there were rumors of them being in the Andrew Van Ginkle market,
because there's obviously a connection there with Brian Flores.
They need edge-ratching help.
If their money goes to Jonathan Grenard,
then that takes...
And that takes, or it opens up the Van Ginkle market.
The other thing, too, is I think Grenard was the top available edge rusher on the market.
I think Bryce Huff fits the Eagles more, but the Grenard money could dictate the market for Bryce Huff as well.
And, yeah, shout out to Mike Garfalo.
I was texting with him this weekend.
He is awesome.
He's the best.
I was listening to a podcast that he was on.
and I said anything mic's on, I'd listen to.
And I would tell the audience to do the same.
And the feed is working for me as well.
And I see the chatter going.
Yes.
Huh.
I don't know what's going on, guys.
Okay.
And so ours is working because we're on the same internet?
Because like if I open it up on my page, it works.
Yeah.
Then I'm going to go to my cell phone here to see.
I just put my cell phone internet up.
Yeah, what's your read on Grenard?
Well, before we get to my read on Grenard, I'm going to take this opportunity to tell you about Miller Light, Zach,
because just like I don't think Howie Roseman's roster building philosophy is going to change much over the years, neither has Miller Light.
Because the great taste of Miller Light is the same that it was when they were the original light beer in 1975.
Miller Light has more of the taste you want and less of the taste you don't.
If you're just hanging out with the fellows tonight or the ladies talking about what a crazy first day of free agency it was,
you're going to want to be sucking them back.
We're talking about those Miller Lights, baby.
Times change, but you can always enjoy the great taste of Miller Light.

And I am pulling this up here.

And it's great to see that the feed is back.
The feed is back.
You don't want to know what Bo said while you were gone.
That's pretty good.
Jonathan Grenard, to the Vikings.
What do you think that deal is going to be?
around as we wait and so Mike G breaks it and let's see what Shepard tweets about the
21 and a half a year is my guess I bet it's more than that oh you think more than 21 and a half
for him to sign this early you're going to pay the top edge rush around the market probably I don't
know Tony Power the Titans interesting so the Derek Henry era is over as we expected
Tony Power different type of back huh different type of back different type of coach and I
thought they were real high on Tadier Spears so I didn't know if it's
if they would pay.
Yeah, it's weird for that to be a priority for them.
Yeah.
So 20 Power goes there, and that's two running backs off the market,
and one of them is not Saquan, so that continues the Saquan watch.
But Spears and Power, that's an interesting tandem with the Titans.
Huh.
Where do you think Kirk Cousins is going to go?
You think he goes to Atlanta?
Yeah, I think he goes to Atlanta.
What about you?
I guess, I mean, it certainly seems like everybody's pointing in that direction.
Unless he goes back to Minnesota.
I think Minnesota or Atlanta.
What do you think Minnesota does if Cousins goes to Atlanta?
Trades for Tray Lance.
Interesting.
And makes him their starter?
Brings the Minnesota guy back home and then drafts a quarterback, yeah.
In the first round?
Mid-first, or they trade back a little bit.
They draft Michael Pennix or they draft...
Keep them in purple?
Keep them in purple.
I like purple and gold.
There you go.
Right?
What would you give up for Trey Lance?
What would I give up for Tray Lance?
Well, he's got one year left on his rookie deal, right?
Is it a former top three pick?
We have to factor that.
Of course.
No wonder.
That's where it all starts.
I would say, I mean, last year he went for what?
A fifth to the Cowboys?
I think that's right.
Need him play, going to the last year of his deal.
And as expected, Schepter has the Grenard.
Four years, 76 million.
42 million guaranteed.
So less than 20.
Yeah, so 19 a year.
Interesting.
Okay, so good news for the Bryce Huff market, if those two things are related at all.
Yeah, I mean, if Gernard's going for 19, then Huff's got to be going for like 16, right?
Unless Huff is like, I'm a better player than you.
Yeah, but he doesn't play.
True.
Half the amount of snaps.
True.
Interesting.
I'm a little bit surprised by that.
Tony Power gets a three-year deal.
Of course, we don't know how many of that's guaranteed.
Probably not a real three-year deal, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah. So, no, the Grenard, I expected edge rushers to get paid more. So that does surprise me. If you thought Gernard was the top, the top one on the market. I got to say, like, if you're Montaustin for it and Jonathan Gannon in Arizona, you didn't have an edge rusher last year. You had Dennis Gardick, your boy, B.J. O'Jolari, and no one had over six sacks. You know, they also had Victor D. from.
I can't pronounce the last name.
De Mook, I'm not going to try to.
You started to try to.
Yeah, I started to try to.
In any event, yeah, if that's the going right for an edge rusher, if I'm the Cardinals, that's what I do.
But, Montiast, unfortunately, not asking my opinion.
Maybe Jonathan Gannon doesn't have that much sway.
Maybe not.
Yeah.
I mean, the CHGO guy's going to have us on so we can talk DeAndre Swift and Kevin Byard.
Where are they doing?
Yeah, the Byrd.
deal was the buyer deal as it was a big one.
All right.
We see, seeing some reports that the feed is not perfect again.
That's unfortunate.
Maybe everyone's in the city's on the internet right now,
and it's the problem with the service provider.
That must be it.
Okay.
Can't have anything to do with us.
Okay.
Well, I don't know.
Titans are giving Tony Pollard three years $24 million.
So that is the same exact contract as the D'Andre Swift deal.
So Pollard for eight.
So that's what the market is.
I have a message on Twitter here.
Your beep is buffering like crazy.
And I mean, if someone didn't know the context there, they'd be very confused.
I feel like the context for buffering is really only one thing.
What else could he be talking about?
I don't know.
I was trying to have fun with this year.
I thought you'd sell the joke a little bit more.
What do you make of Pollard and Swift getting the same contract?
I mean, Swift's a young, up-and-coming player.
I'd like Swift more than you do.
That's kind of a trend, it seems, that I like the Eagles running back more than you do.
Probably so.
But, no, I'm not surprised.
I mean, look, Swift is, when Swift's healthy, he's electric.
and he was healthy last year.
It just, it's, I don't know, Chicago confuses me.
Like, they let David Montgomery go on a deal that's, that's, like, not a significant deal.
I mean, it was a fine deal, but I thought Montgomery was a good player.
They let Montgomery walk.
They're kind of going with this running back by committee,
and then they pay Swift at the start of free agency.
I found that to be an interesting approach, but good for Swift.
Yeah, I didn't know if it's good for him, absolutely.
Who would you rather have Swift or Pollard?
I'd rather have Swift.
Fresh your legs or?
Yeah, and I think he showed last year that he can handle a bigger, you know,
he can take on a bigger load than kind of the reputation was.
And the opposite was actually the case with Tony Pollard.
True.
So, you know, his workload increased.
and he wasn't as productive.
Now, there are multiple factors in play.
But, yeah.
I want to say here, there's people talking about all p.l.y.com.
We are having, you know, we have some free content, but a lot is for the diehard tier.
And I just want to emphasize the diehard tier, you're not just getting the exclusive content from us
and from our Sixers writers and our Flyers writers and our Phillies work.
But, you know, you're also getting discount on events and discount on merch.
and we'll continue as we keep growing here,
we'll continue to look at different ways
to make the die-hard tier maybe more accessible
and things of that nature.
But yeah, there's definitely a lot of good quality work
on the die-hard tier, including Bose Top 100,
which I would recommend keep going back,
pounding refresh.
When the Eagles sign someone,
when someone goes off the market,
see what their fit would be,
see what the advanced metrics from True Media
as shows because I think that's
the best piece we've had this
off-season. Well,
that's very nice of you to say, but you also
published something this morning that people can read.
So you are also staying on
top of it.
Okay.
We want to talk a little more
Fletcher Cox? Yeah, let's do it.
Let's do it.
Anything that, like, hit you last night
as you were tossing and turning
that we didn't get to talk about yesterday?
We hit on a lot of the big points.
There were a few things there.
I saw Emmanuelacho say that Fletcher Cox was like the smartest defense of linemen he played with.
He would like he would know exactly where the plays were going.
He would call out the shifts on the line.
And like Fletcher was such a valuable piece of so many different groups of, you know, defense alignment that the Eagles had.
And, you know, it's interesting, like, he played next, there was early in his career,
Cetrick Thornton was the one next to him, right, and Benny Logan.
And then he gets a point where he's playing with Tim Jernigan, and then he's playing with, you know,
J. Bon Hargrave, and there was a, they wanted Malik Jackson to be a pair.
But something that I didn't mention yesterday, and it's not just the defense of linemen next,
to him. It's like the edge rushers. Connor Barwin,
Connor Barwin was a
great pass rusher for the Eagles, like a really good
player. But Connor Barwin's Pro Bowl year
came when
Fletcher Cox was at the top of his game. And I
remember Connor saying a lot of those
sacks were like due to Fletcher, right?
The attention that Fletcher receives.
And Jeffrey
Lurie in his statement had something there
that he talked about
the respect that opponents gave him, like opponent's
game plans were built around him. And I remember
Jim Schwartz giving a line that said every team we play against puts 91 on their board.
And that's how they start their week.
Like, yeah, we have to figure out how to play against 91.
And I think that sometimes we get, I say we in like the Royal We, get caught up in like
the stats of it.
And like, sacks are important, obviously.
But at that position, a lot of it is what you do for everybody else.
right and Fletcher Cox made a lot of players a lot of money
and made a lot of players better during his time here with the Eagles
Chris Long said the same thing on Twitter yeah I mean and you're right
that position it becomes difficult if he is absorbing you know
double teams all the time and as I said when we talked like he he
sort of helped me like change the way that I watched those guys
he was an unbelievable player and it deserves to be feted as such
but didn't ask to be you know
just sort of sent it out.
Yeah.
On a Sunday, I liked your,
how appropriate for Fretcher Cox
to be doing it on Sunday.
Thank you.
Yeah, because that's the thing with Fletcher.
It's like you can count on him being there.
And I used the line on yesterday's show.
We focus so much on the spectacular,
but being like reliable and consistently great
or consistently very good,
there's a lot of value in that.
And knowing that you're getting this high baseline
week in, week out.
There you go.
All right, well, before we keep going, let's talk about some of our other sponsors.

information and a few minutes ago i talked about our die heart tier and i mentioned the events
and you might be sitting there at home watching our stream,
thinking like, what events?
Well, we have some great events coming up.
You can join Charlie, Bill, and other PHLY Hockey Diehards
at the Wells Fargo Center this Thursday, March 14th,
as the Flyers take on the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Big game for the Flyers.
It would be without their head coach,
so be interesting to watch.
Limited tickets are available.
Takeover tickets include pre-game meetup with the PHLY crew
and a game ticket in the assembly room
to enjoy all the game.
with the other diehards.
You can also check out all our upcoming events
at all phtly.com under the event calendar
and an event that I'm excited to follow.
I won't be there because I'll be here at work,
but you can follow our PHALY Philly team
for details on opening day.
They'll be hosted at Bet Park's Casino and Sportsbook.
With the Philly season coming up,
there's a lot of great stuff on tap
with our Phillies coverage.
And like I said,
you can become a diehard on all PHLY.
You can get one of these great shirts.
We're going to have more merch coming, and it's just the start here at PHLY.
Nancy said.
All right, Julia, should we be restarting the stream, do you think, or should we just keep on plowing ahead?
Okay.
The Wi-Fi power has come back up, so we're going to stick with it as we close out hour one of nine.
Nine?
You've got me worried there.
You got a game tonight, Zach?
We have a game tonight, yeah.
You're on the team.
Yeah, we're my team, yep.
Yeah, so.
Who are we playing?
What's the scouting report?
A team is good athleticism, tough on defense.
We were in it with them earlier this year.
Is this the one seed?
I think it's the two seed that we're playing.
The two seed, okay.
So you guys were the three?
No, I think we beat the three.
How many teams are there?
No, there are two teams that got buys.
So there were.
For the six?
Yeah, I guess so.
Yeah.
Oh.
Or I'm not sure, but we...
No, you must have been the five.
The five, probably.
Yeah.
I had to look that up.
But did you reseed?
I don't know.
I love a bracket.
Yeah, we...
Because if it's six teams, one and two get buys, two is playing the winner of three, six,
unless it's a reseeding situation.
Let me see.
I can pull up the standings, okay, from the year.
I kind of look at the opponent and let me see here.
You're taking it, you're taking a week to week.
You're focusing on...
Definitely what I'm doing.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And but we have,
let me look this up.
We got the rotation for tonight's game.
Okay.
And all hands on deck?
Are we missing anybody tonight?
All hands on deck.
Okay.
And hopefully, you know, we're efficient on offense.
So you have eight players?
And we're tough on defense.
Yeah, eight players.
Okay.
Hopefully we're fishing on offense.
We're tough on defense.
And we make it work.
So our team this year was, yeah, we were fifth.
So we were in the...
Actually, we were tied for third.
I mean, there were three teams at the same record here.
Okay.
Through eight games.
Oh, wow.
So Delaware, eight and oh.
That's where we're playing Delaware tonight, actually.
So we're playing the top seat.
This team's undefeated.
Oh, this is a...
You're going to take them down.
And then everybody else was clustered together at three, four, five, six.
Yeah, so our games is 730 tonight.
We're playing the top seed.
We'll see how it goes.
But, yeah.
Martin Franklin.
going to cover the game?
Martin Frank's not covered in the game.
But we need to be efficient on offense.
That's our key.
But you were in it with them earlier in the season.
We were very close with them.
I can actually tell you what we were with them.
You think they're watching the show for a scouting report?
For a scouting report on us?
On you?
To see if you give anything away?
No.
I mean, I imagine they're at work right.
Maybe they're watching.
Yeah, they're probably tuning in.
You don't think any of our listeners or viewers are at work right now?
No, they're all working. I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking, I wasn't expecting to talk about my team right now.
Well, Zach, we got 10 hours to get through.
We have three more hours to go. Yes.
Okay. I can't wait to find out how the game goes tonight.
Well, we're back here tomorrow at noon.
Chat, let us know. Will or will Zach not take a shot tonight?
I don't think I'm going to take a shot tonight, honestly.
I mean, I will if the situation presents itself, but...
Like, at no point, have you ever just, like, gotten a steal and gotten out on a fast break?
Well, honestly, so, all right, I'm explaining that there's a free agency going on, but let me...
I'm waiting, and if something happens, I'll cut you off.
When I'm in the game, and, like, I'm not in the game that often, right?
But when I'm in the game, my goal is for us to get, like, the best...
shot on the court at that time. It's like the way the Golden State Warriors play. There's always
the best shot. And if I think that seldom is me shooting the best shot for the team at that time.
Now, if I have an open layup, if I have an open jumper, sure. But if I can get the ball to someone
who's going to be a, is in a spot for a better shot, I'm going to do it. I'm not going to be
Ben Simmons and pass up a layup for someone who has a more difficult shot. But.
straight. Yeah. But. But. But. But.
But, no, it's, but I am not, when I get the ball, I'm looking for us to get the best shot,
not looking for me to get the best shot.
That's the best way I can put it.
Yeah, you're a good team, man.
I hope to be.
At some point, honestly?
It must feel like there are you having the ball.
What you just said there is what I, I hope that when my team says, I hope they say, like,
we're better when Zach's on the court because he bought.
So I got a real nice compliment last week from a guy on the other team, Adam.
Shout out to Adam.
And look, I'm the smart.
smallest guy on the court. He's like, man, you really box out. I'm like, yeah.
You're throwing that A around. No, but. You're going to box out at that size. You got to,
you got to be throwing your dump in the trunk. No, you try to be, but no, I will always try to box out.
I will, you know, pick, you know, if I'll play transition D. I'll do everything I can to help my team
win him on the. You know, it was a great box outer. Who? One of your former colleagues.
When I used to, when I used to, Bob Ford. Bob Ford.
Yeah, Bobford is a great box outer.
Boxer outer?
Yeah, Boxer outer?
I can see that.
Yeah, Bob's a good player.
Yeah, we play those games, those half-core games at the Plessra.
I'm jealous.
I've never played at the Plesster.
I've been to many games in the Plesster.
A lot of fun.
But I've never played at the Plesster.
Shout out to Jack Shore.
Shout out there.
Okay.
Well, I look forward.
I feel like if you win this game and get to the championship game,
yes.
I think maybe Hanson Rich and I call the game on Ph.O.
No, no, no, no, please don't.
I'm allowed to have a life outside of work sometimes.
All right, so how about this?
Connor Hughes from S&Y, our old frenemy.
He wasn't a frenemy, from the Marissa Dunn crossover,
says there are increased rumblings that the Eagles are willing to go north of $12 million annually for Sequin Barclay per sources.
That's higher than the Texans, which is believed to be near $11 million.
The sentiment, he continues, the sentiment was always.
is that Barclay would give the Giants a chance to match or do better,
but what would Shane do, Joe Shane, that is,
to keep Barclay away from a division rival?
I mean, yeah, look, I, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that, that's, that, that's, that's, that, you know,
are really pushing it, what will the division, you know, what will you guys do to keep them away
from the Eagles? That's, that's kind of how that, I think there's. And to be fair, the Eagles,
this is a thing that, like, they are willing to be used as a stalking horse in the media.
Yeah. So we'd like to talk about how the sausage is made. I'm not dismissing anything,
and there's clearly smoke here, right? And as we've discussed, like, there's legitimacy to this.
But, you know, for instance, in the past, the New England Patriots are a team that's notorious for, like, they'll tell agents, they'll tell players.
Like, if you tell anyone about this conversation, it's, you know, it's dead in the water, right?
Like, they, at the combine, when you have those questions, who did you meet with?
They're, like, not allowed to say the Patriots, right?
The Eagles sometimes, they're a team that's like, yeah, you can, you know, you can use us.
and I had a tweet yesterday,
and this isn't to dismiss anyone's reporting on anything,
but I guarantee you come the draft time,
come to draft,
you're going to see the Eagles are making calls to move up.
No crap.
The Eagles always make calls to move up.
Or the Eagles are,
the Eagles explore every player that they're interested in.
Like, now they're not checking the private,
but you've said this before,
what keeps Hallie Roseman up at night
is knowing that someone's available
and not at the number that they want.
So, yeah, so if,
And this is all part of that.
Yes, exactly.
When you say they as the Eagles, it's Howie.
Yes.
And, you know, the comparison you're drawing to the Patriots about, like, if this gets out there, you know, this is done.
I believe from talking to people that, like, that is how Howie views things for everybody else in the building.
Like, he or the very small people in his circle who are dealing with these information brokers around the,
the league. They are the ones who will be playing this game. If other stuff gets out, he's going
to be very angry about that because, as you said, like, he wants to know everything and part
of knowing everything is being the go-between for if, like, the national reporters or other
GMs want to know what's out there or what guy, like what the market is for guys or who might
be interested. He wants to be the one who is part of that conversation. And if that means,
use me in this way to put our name out there, that's fine because it's going to be, it's part
of the relationship that is like, you know, you're going to get, you're going to break this,
we're going to give this to you, you're going to get the contract terms, we're going to
give this to you, like that relationship is very much a part of the way that he is plugged
into like the ecosystem of the league.
Well said, you're right.
The information part of it's huge.
And additionally, sometimes, you know, let's say Bo Wolf is playing for the Denver
Broncos and I'm covering the Denver Broncos and Bo Wolf's a free agent in demand and I want to
see if if Bo Wolf's coming back and I'm calling Bo Wolf's representative Rachel and I'm saying
Rachel like what is what's what's the latest with Bo and it's like well too busy to know well the teams
that are interested are XYZ and the Eagles yeah because the Eagles if they're interested in Bo
they're going to call and they're going to find out what that number is right now that that that very well
might mean that the Eagles
execute on it and sign
bow at that number, but
the Eagles aren't a team
that's like, eh, he's out of our
price range, we're not going to call, right?
The Eagles, so the reason why you
often see the Eagles link to so many players
is because they look into so many
players. That's a good point. Now, that
said, when enough
I, like you said, there's smoke
to the sparkly thing, right? It's not just
being picked out of thin air.
But I do think that,
a lot of times when you see the Eagles being, when you see the Eagles' names out there,
it's because they're calling.
It doesn't necessarily mean it's because the deal is going to be executed.
And I'm not saying that's the case with Swift, but the Eagles are linked to so many players,
and that's the reason for it, because they call on so many players.
Well, it's like the Bryce Huff thing, right?
Like, if they're going to be willing to entertain trading Hassan Reddick or Josh Webb,
they need to have a plan for backfilling that position.
And so they need to reach out and find out what the market.
market's going to be like for Bryce Huff.
That doesn't mean that they're definitely going to sign him, but it means that
if they do this, then this is the thing that is.
I mean, to be fair, that is the way that Diana reported it, right?
Like, they have to have, like, plans for all of these different possibilities, and they
need to check in on whether any of those plans are feasible.
Yeah, you're right.
And comes draft time, it's like, the Eagles are on the on the phone.
looking to move up.
When was the last time the Eagles stayed at their actual spot in the first round?
Like they're always on the phone looking to move up or looking to move down.
So that's the way of saying this is how the Eagles do business.
They are not a team that sits on their hands typically,
and they're a team that likes to be in on every player.
And by the way, this is how you land CJ Garner Johnson in a trade.
Because you call, I've used this example in the past.
They are like the fantasy football owner.
who, you know, I'm in an auction baseball league,
and I'm getting all these offers thrown at me for Jackson Shorio,
and I'm like, I'm not.
But people are, you know, people, you don't know unless you call, right?
There was a story that I've written about,
and I talked on our former show about this.
There was a player that someone told me this guy's getting cut, okay?
Like, rock solid source telling me, this guy's getting cut.
And I go and I check, you know, because you have to get it confirmed,
or checked, and I'm told, no, you know, hold on here because he might get traded.
And I'm like, I heard he's getting cut, like from a really, from a source, like, as close to this as could be.
It's like, no, no, and I thought I was being played, and then sure enough, Beagle's got something for the guy.
And I'm like, oh, man, okay, so there's something to this.
So, yeah, that happens quite a bit.
interesting
what did you make of
Russell Wilson to Pittsburgh your boy
great signing by the Steelers
first of them yeah it costs them nothing
yes right because Denver's paying the salary
true
if you're not
unless you're going to trade for like Justin Fields
who you I mean was a high in draft pick
you must have liked but where are you getting
your quarterback upgrade this year if you're Pittsburgh well which would you
ever rather done well given the trajectory
that Pittsburgh's in, I probably would have traded for fields. That said, you just spent a first
on Pickett. Like, you can, in theory, talk yourself into this, you know, this dual timeline
where you have Russell Wilson for this year, you see what you have in them, and you can still
develop Pickett, right? I'm not saying that's the case. If Russell Wilson wins that job,
Kenny Pickett is not a part of their future at all. What, do you think they cut Pickett?
well, I don't think they're going to cut him, but he's going to be, he's a backup.
Like, you know, a first-round pick doesn't lose the job and then regain it.
I mean, no, it didn't work out.
The Jets plan last year was for Aaron Rogers to be the quarterback and Zach Wilson to be on ice.
Give me a break.
How did that work?
You're right.
I hear you there.
But no, I think Russell Wilson, why not?
If you're the Sears, why not?
It costs you nothing.
It's like a minimum salary.
the Broncos are paying.
Yeah.
I do like the framing that
Mike Tomlin is like trapped.
It's like he's Phil Connors in Groundhog Day
and he continues to test the limits of
like, can I still get a winning record if I get this?
It's like a game to him.
It's like, yeah, he's trying to kill himself
in all these different ways and he keeps waking up just nine
and eight again.
Like, well, if I sign Russell Wilson,
certainly that will mean that I can have a losing season
and we'll leave.
But no, not.
No, not the case.
I got one for you here.
Yeah.
I see it.
Go ahead.
Jordan Schultz from Bleacher Report reports that Brandon Jones, the free agent safety,
is going to the Denver Broncos on a three-year $20 million deal with the upside of $22.5 million.
He gets $12.5 guaranteed.
That's the number you have to know.
But so anyways, this is valuable from the safety market perspective.
That's a lot of money.
And also a former Dolphin, so former Vic Fangio guy.
But he was their third safety last year.
Yeah, three years, $20 million.
crazy deep safety market.
It's 12.5 million guaranteed.
The third safety is getting that much money after they just released Justin Simmons.
That's really interesting.
Also, according to Jonathan Jones, now this one doesn't affect the Eagles, per se, but the Titans are signing Lloyd Cushenberry.
Ah, more Cushenberry for the Pushingberry.
Yeah.
To be their center.
So two moves right there.
There's a guy who can box out.
Yes.
Yeah. Lloyd Cushenberry.
But Brandon Jones won is an interesting one.
That's really interesting.
Interesting. I, like, huh. Why would you race to sign Brandon Jones of all the, I don't know, that's interesting. 12 and a half million.
Yeah, I mean, I don't, I can't tell you what the Broncos are doing right now. Yeah.
Am I, now, you're going to laugh like first round picks. I know I have a thing for them. I get it. Okay. All right, make that joke. But you and I and Shield both, like, thought very highly of Jerry Judy coming out.
Yeah.
Okay, really young player.
He's been in crappy situations, like throughout his NFL career here.
I'm not saying he's going to turn out to be Devante Smith, but they gave him way for nothing.
And the Brown, you know, I understand he's playing on the fifth-year option, so it's expensive salary.
But I like that deal for the Browns.
We saw work with Amari Cooper.
Now, Marry Cooper had more production in the NFL.
Yeah, I feel like with first round wide receivers, even.
even if they have bad quarterbacks, if you don't see it, it's not coming.
Now, he had a 900-yard year, but...
How disappointing would it be when you were evaluating him as a player?
True.
If the pennant you were hanging was he had a 900-yard year.
Fair.
Look, I am with you there.
But didn't you think he would get more than what he got?
I don't know.
I guess I hadn't really thought about it.
But, I mean, certainly I think it makes sense for Cleveland.
I just don't get what Denver's doing.
I just don't think he's ever going to hit the level that we thought he was going to hit.
Like, he's just not good enough.
Yeah, Denver, I keep seeing.
I saw something.
Sean Payton opened up $24 million in cap space and got two giraffe picks.
He got rid of like all his good players, right?
Outside of Patrick Sturtain.
Yeah.
Which is something to monitor with Patrick Sturtain.
Interesting.
Okay.
Dorence Armstrong.
According to Jordan Schultz, a bleacher report?
I got to add Jordan Schultz to my list here, then I guess.
Close to finalizing a deal with the commanders would reunite with Dan Quinn.
Now, Eagles' takeaway here is not just the edge rusher market,
but also the commanders were considered a potential landing spot for Bryce Huff.
They need two edge rushers.
Okay, they traded both their as starting edge rushers last year.
But this is noteworthy here that Doran Johnstrung goes to the commanders.
Now, you were high on Doran's Armstrong as like a, you know, a guy who can step into a bigger role.
Did you think he would, did you think he'd be a candidate for the Eagles at any point?
Not really.
I feel like if they're going to replace one of those guys, they would go for a higher cost,
and then he's too good to be a depth guy for them.
So that middle ground did not make sense for them from a market standpoint, I think.
Yeah.
You want to know my Oscar's thoughts?
Yeah, let's hear.
That was a nice deep red.
By the way, what smells so good?
Is that like the bread?
That's the garlic.
I got some stir-fried.
Yeah.
They ordered some...
I don't know if we can give a free advertisement,
but they ordered from a local establishment that is a chain.
Big fan of it.
I'll say it, honeygirl.
Yeah.
Honeygirl, please advertise for us.
Reach out to me.
I've never had it before, but something over there smells delicious.
Yeah, this.
These are my Oscars.
Oh, the Jaguars, Ian Rappaport says,
are signing Gabe Davis to a three-year deal
of Gabe Davis, who, of course, I invented.
That also means that...
That means they're not bringing back Caldriddley, right?
Most likely, I guess.
You know, I do like a Gabe Davis,
but he also, it's hard to get in a better situation
than he had in Buffalo.
True.
But that's interesting.
Yeah.
Would you have kept...
Would you have kept Ridley?
Who do you like more, Davis or Ridley?
Well, in a vacuum, Ridley, but given the...
Draft pick?
Yeah, what is it?
If they resigned Ridley, it's a second round pick.
If they signed him in free agency, it's a third,
and if not, it's a fourth or something like that?
Is that what it is?
Something like that.
Yeah, given all of that, I probably would rather just pay for Gabe Davis.
Keep the second, I guess, yeah.
I heard if they had resigned him, give them to a second.
Yeah.
Or before once they were in a second.
wait until he officially is a free agent.
Right.
Then it's a third.
Right.
Yeah.
So, okay.
Yeah.
And it'll be interesting to see what the bills do.
Yeah.
My Oscar's broadcast thoughts.
Oh, yeah.
I'd like a Jimmy Kimmel.
First of all, my number one piece of feedback.
What are they doing with the in-memorium segment?
Like, we don't need to see the dancers on the stage.
We can't see the screen of all the people who they're trying to memorialize.
You can't read it.
What are they doing?
Show us the screen.
We don't need to be zoomed out for that.
If anything, that's the one time.
We don't need to see anything that's going on on the stage.
Ridiculous.
You can barely see Andre Brower.
My second.
Yeah, how did Kimmel do?
I thought I did okay.
Yeah, good.
Yeah, I think you sort of know what you're getting with Jimmy Kay.
I saw him live one time.
Yeah, how to go?
It's great.
Yeah?
Yeah.
And we and I were in L.A.
Who do you think would win a, like, a.
A boxing match between Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Kemmsky.
Jimmy Kimmel.
I'm taking Kempski, absolutely.
He does have to have the reach.
He does have to have the reach.
That's true.
I don't know how Kempsky is as a boxer.
But you know how Jimmy Kimmel is?
I don't know.
Okay.
Didn't propose thought into that one.
Sorry.
I think of the man show.
I thought for sure that you'd be on the side of your beat colleague.
Yeah, I gave Jimmy a shout off.
Broke the Lama.
Then you just threw him under the bus.
I didn't throw him under the bus.
You ask, I pick Jimmy Kimmel in a fight.
Okay, I'll give Kempski.
I don't know.
Go on.
Maybe your take is, like, if it's a bar room fight, then you're taking Kempski,
but if it's more of the art of, like, the science of boxing that Kimmel is the man.
I don't have a strong take on this.
But go on.
Yeah, more Oscar's thoughts.
By the way, did you ever see Oppenheimer?
I still have not seen Oppenheimer.
I've seen, I think, six of the movies, but I haven't seen Oppenheimer.
You watched the Oscars, but you haven't watched the Oscars, but you haven't watched
the movie that the Oscars is basically
honoring.
He's got that much time.
Well, Oppenheimer's shorter than the Oscars.
What time the Oscars come on?
Well, yeah, but I can fast forward through commercials.
Oh, so you didn't watch it live?
Did not watch it live.
Wow, so what time did you watch it?
You picked it up like 9 o'clock and then fast forward through?
Basically.
Okay.
We were done before midnight.
I saw YouTube TV did what they do for the NBA finals
where they had the trophy when you fast forward to rewind.
Oh, yes. Yes, yes, yes.
Yeah, yeah.
They had like the actual Oscar.
That's the kind of technology
that really moves the needle for you.
You love that.
Yeah, I do actually.
Yeah, show something personalized.
But anyways, go on with your Oscar thoughts.
The speeches from the former
winners to the acting nominees.
Okay.
Started really well.
I thought the supporting actors ones were great.
But then the men were terrible.
Like, they were so impersonal.
They were so, like, just generic.
There were no connection between the two of them.
It was awful.
I thought the kudos to the women for coming prepared,
but, like, let's get a little more, like, a little more homework
from Nicholas Cage and Ben Kingsley, please.
Nicholas Cage was a presenter for Best Picture?
Yeah.
Or best actor, rather?
Okay.
Yeah, he did Paul Giamatti.
Gotcha.
And Murphy won?
Killian Murphy won, yes.
Okay.
Yeah, he was good in Oppenheimer.
I mean, I would like to see it.
I'm going to see it at some point.
I highly recommend it.
No rush.
It's on Peacock right now.
Is it?
Yeah.
Well, there was a point when I wanted to go see it at like the King of Pressure Theater.
Oh, yeah.
Right?
It was like a three-month wait when I tried to do that.
I'm not going to just see it in a regular theater, but now I'm going to end up just watching it at home.
Yeah.
It's a good film.
I'm sure it is.
Recommend it.
Any other thoughts?
I think I wrote one other thing down.
Let me see.
No real John Cena thoughts, but, you know, what a bod.
Oh, I mean, this is, but the...
What you said?
Well, he was naked on the stage sack.
Like, that's...
Oh, okay.
It's not a...
Okay.
Although, like, he looks like a cartoon.
Who would be like, that's not...
Nobody wants that body.
Let's be fair.
Like, it looks ridiculous.
The Ryan Gosling musical performance was great.
It was fantastic.
Have you seen Barbie?
No, I've not seen Barbie.
No, I've not seen.
Why is that like, that is such, that is such a perfect Zach reaction.
Well, Julia's wearing her pink Barbie sweater.
That is such a perfect, like, how dare you suggest that I pee sitting down?
Like, women belong in the kitchen.
Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, time out, phone.
That's insulting.
Take, take that one back.
Okay, I take it back.
I never once that women belong in the kitchen.
I know, but that's the general.
That's not the general thing.
Like, neighborhood you're playing in.
That's nothing to do with the gender roles.
I'm not interested in...
I would never see Bar.
That's a woman's movie.
I'm not interested in...
Have you seen Barbie?
Yes, I thought it was great.
You saw Barbie, but on Oppenheimer.
Yes.
Barbie is for everyone.
Okay.
What's it about?
It's about life.
Okay.
All right.
Look, I'm not judging anyone who sees Barbie.
Oppenheimer's more of my speed, okay?
Okay, the documentary.
That's why Baskin-Robbins makes 31 flavors.
There you go. I like that.
Big pop, big pop in the crowd when we get a Baskin-Robbins.
Yeah.
It's not toxic masculinity at all.
I just don't.
I'm sorry.
I have not seen Barbie.
I will watch it.
I think it's on, I think it's on Max.
I will watch it.
Will I enjoy it?
I think so, but I don't know.
Are you a Gosling fan?
I like Ryan Gosling, yeah.
Okay. I'm not like a big, I'm not like a Gosling head, but, uh, okay.
I see the appeal.
All right.
Certainly more attractive than John Cena.
I think we can agree about that.
I'll defer to you on that one.
Okay.
Yeah.
Gavin, Super Chat, wants to know what's the deal.
Like, can you elaborate on why Ridley Walking would have, or doesn't mean a second
Thank you for the football question, Gavin.
I'll let you take it, Zach. Go ahead.
Yeah, so he was traded.
The terms of the deal.
He was traded for a conditional pick.
And the conditional pick was contingent upon a second contract.
And so if the contract extension was done before, then it would be a second round pick.
If they kept him, but he hit the open market, be a third.
And then if he left, it be a fourth.
So it's a conditional pick the same way.
If a player hits a certain benchmark, it was based on a contract resigning.
All right.
We have a big domino that has fallen, Zach.
Oh, let's hear.
One of the big players in for agency, Christian Wilkins.
Yes.
The star Dolphins defensive tackle is going to play for Antonio Pierce and the Las Vegas Raiders.
Ian Rappaport reporting a four-year deal worth $110 million.
That includes $84.7 million guaranteed.
So that is a spicy meatball.
That's what, like 27 per year?
Yeah, 27 and a half per year.
Good for him.
Good player. A little older, right?
Yeah, 28.
Yeah, 28.
Antonio Pierce is going for it now.
Yeah, he's a good player.
I don't object to that.
That's around the ballpark of what I thought he would make.
Once again, I don't know what the Arizona Cardinals are doing,
but that could be a theme on this show.
I think that's a deal that's going to look really bad in two years.
Because of the player?
Or because of the money?
The player and the cost.
I just, I'm a little bit, I'm a little bit.
I'm a little bit Wilkins skeptical.
I kind of always have been,
and so that has not, you know, he's been very good.
Who did you have in your mock draft that year?
Did you have Brian Burns?
Or was he just the guy you left?
I did at one point have them trading up for Burns.
Yeah.
Okay.
I never thought they were going to draft Wilkins.
I had them taking Dexter Lawrence.
I don't remember actually who I had them in the final.
I think it might have been the trade-up for Burns.
Okay.
I had Dexter Lawrence, which would have been a good thing.
He didn't fall around.
Yeah, that's interesting.
So of the guys who are expected to make the most money in free agency, obviously, Cousins is still out there.
And maybe that's what the market's waiting on.
That's what Diana wrote this week.
That's what I said on Friday when in my final thoughts is that the quarterback market usually dictates the way things go.
So maybe that's kind of what people are waiting on here is the cousins part of this.
But in terms of the unrestricted guys, non-cousons, I think that's expected to be like that's the biggest deal probably.
Sure, based on position and based on, yeah.
I would agree with that.
Certainly in terms of total guarantee, you might see, like, you know,
maybe DeNeil Hunter signs a one-year deal or something like that
or Tyrant Smith or something like that.
But in terms of overall guarantee, that will be the highest non-quarterback, I would imagine.
It was Vic Fangio, some cheddar there because Vic helped him get that deal.
Had a good year under Vic.
There you go.
Had his best year, certainly sack-wise.
That's an interesting.
The Raiders.
All right.
What else would you like to talk about?
I still wonder who's going to play quarterback.
Six more hours to be here.
Yeah, we don't have six more hours.
We have two and a half more hours.
And then we have emergency shows later.
But this is fun.
I enjoy talking to you.
This is an invitation to ask questions here.
We can open up a mailbag?
We can make this interactive.
Oh, wow.
What a wonderful, wonderful idea.
It's not a mailbag, per se.
If you're tuning in, you deserve to ask us a question.
I agree with that.
See me is a pathetic.
Wait, wait, wait, wait.
feel bad for Zeeb's wife.
Yeah, please go up here.
He does not, he does, he does, he's not that regressive.
I want to see it because it's a joke.
Wait.
No, I want to know this, wait, uh, I'm sorry that I didn't see Barbie, okay?
I will see Barbie.
Honestly, I, it's, I have no issue with Barbie.
It's not a movie I plan to see.
I've only seen, like, the only movies I've seen in theaters in the last five years,
Well, since COVID, so four years ago is Oppenheimer.
I saw all my own, and I've taken my kids to see movies.
That's it.
Okay, but my wife wanted to see Barbie.
She loved it.
It was a nice night out with her friends.
My daughter had a birthday, and we put Barbie on the, on the, on the, she had friends over.
We put Barbie on the TV.
So they watched that, and then they switched to like a Tower Swift movie at that point.
but um pretty cool kid
Sloan?
Yeah
Yeah, Sloan's awesome
Yeah, she's the best
Like the Eagles just had
You should have her on the show
I love Sloan more than anything
Yeah, so
I have nothing against Barbie
I just
I just had no interest in seeing it
That's all
I don't know why that's the
It was not that you hadn't seen it
It was the, oh
It was the revulsion
I think it was more
The Barbie talk was coming up
In a free agency pop
No no no no
You cannot defend
I mean, Julia saw the whole thing play out.
It was absolutely the initial revulsion.
But Joy is one of my oldest friends for her to react that way.
It makes me feel self-conscious.
You just got to see Barbie now with your entire family.
You have to see Barbie now.
Did you like Barbie?
I loved it.
You loved it.
What did you love about it?
I mean, just, I mean, the majority female castes, the whole premise about it,
just like everyone coming together.
There's also like the male stories, the storylines are still, you know.
It was just all around.
Very good.
Did your brother see Barbie?
I don't know.
Okay.
I think Barbie might have been my favorite movie of the movie.
that I saw in my defense.
You haven't seen Oppenheimer?
Yeah, I said of the movies I saw.
I saw Barbie, past lives, which I loved.
Did you see Maestro?
I feel like Maestro was the only one
that I'm not going to ever watch.
Why?
I just, biopics are not, I just find them very boring.
I love biopics, okay.
I watched Anatomy of the Fall over the last week,
which was great.
I watched Zone of Interest on Saturday night,
which was really good.
What else did I see?
Oh, I saw the holdovers, which was fine.
I loved past lives was probably, for me was past lives
and Barbie, I would say.
Gotcha.
And then zone of interest and then anatomy will fall.
I wonder why the chat was all over.
Like, what was the person that someone said?
I'm a, gosh.
I'm here to talk football, man.
Football guy.
All right, what questions do we have?
Let's get to that.
Hold on, let me see if there's anything else that I've seen.
Oh, I'm like, I'm like halfway through Killer
of a flower moon and I'm not sure that I will finish.
Oh, American fiction. I loved American fiction.
Yeah.
Did I say what?
Godzilla minus one.
I have not seen Godzilla minus one.
I'll be honest. Stuff that comes out during football season, I don't see a lot of.
The time I usually catch up on movies is the spring and summer.
That's why when I went and I saw Oppenheimer, it was like a big deal.
It was the night before training camp started.
Oh, you were getting it in, yeah.
Yeah.
I went at 8 o'clock.
I sat in the front row because the theater was packed.
Nice.
And did you see it on the IMAX theater?
No, I couldn't get it.
The IMAX was like a three month wait.
I went to, yeah, just went to a local theater.
Okay.
All right.
Chat's asking, let's see here.
Levato and Man.
Yeah, I'm expecting them to bring Brayden Man back
and I'm expecting them to bring Rick Levato back.
Do you want say...
Super chat says
Genocidal bombs
over dolls
is toxic masculinity.
Okay.
I'm trying to filter
to the questions.
Let me tell you something here.
That's a super chat.
Yeah.
All right.
Let me tell you something here.
Here's a truth bomb that's coming.
No.
I'm a big fan of history.
Okay?
I love movies about history
that are either loosely
or strictly based on history.
And Oppenheimer
is right up
my alley in that regard.
So it has nothing to do with masculinity or I'd love the...
You don't need to defend yourself too.
I love the premise of Barbie.
I just...
It's just not a movie that interests me to go see.
You love the premise of Barbie.
Now you're just...
I mean, let's not stretch it.
Well, what Julia just said, I think it's great about women empowerment.
I think it's wonderful.
Yeah.
I'm gonna...
I'm not going to pile on anymore here.
Okay, thank you.
All right, Christian Wilkins.
So that means I would expect that maybe some more stuff starts.
I mean, it is funny that like we're 90 minutes into the start of the league year.
We're like, oh, like, let's make something happen when like 15 players have already signed.
Yeah.
Which is just the pace of things.
We're 90 minutes since the league year.
We're talking about Barbie.
Okay, go ahead.
What do you want to talk about?
You take the ball.
I'm curious what the chat has to say.
But no, apparently Kay Adams is inferring the Sequin thing.
look, there's a lot of smoke around Seguan.
I get it. I hear it.
I'm not dismissing it.
I'm just telling you what I personally think.
And again, I might be wrong.
I'll gladly admit I am wrong if that's the case.
In my 12 years covering the Eagles,
it's hard for me to see them setting the market at running back.
Now, never say never.
In 2017, they were going to draft Christian McCaffrey
with a 14th overall pick had he fallen.
They paid LaShawn McCoy.
But it would surprise me to see them pay a 26, what's he, 26, 27?
Secon?
I want to say 27.
27.
Top of the, you know, top of the league money.
If he's, if the, as I said, if there's a sweet spot there, if it's like an 8 to 11 or 8 to 10, I think is what I said.
It's going to be more than 10.
Yeah.
It would surprise me to see them pay more than 10.
but again
the reasons you said have validity to it
that if they say
he was this good
with the Giants he'd be that
good with the Eagles
that I believe in paying A player's A money
and I think that he's an A player
or as close to it at that position as you can get
but it would just surprise me to do that
that's all
and I think a lot of it
might be kind of what the
you know
what Barkley wants
Like if you want to go back to the Giants,
and again, the Giants were rumored to be in the Pollard market
if they didn't get,
if they didn't get Barclay,
if you want to go back to the Giants,
one of the best ways to get the Giants to act
is to make the Giants think that the Eagles are going to sign you.
Right? So we'll see.
Diana Rossini reporting the Gabe Davis terms three for 39
that can get up to 50 with different incentives.
Feels like that's about...
Yeah, 13 million year?
Yeah.
For a, you know, number two, number three receiver?
Yeah.
Now, free agent wide receivers get paid.
Yeah, Pittman got, what, 23 a year?
Yeah, I would not want to be signing that deal either, but...
Yeah, I'm saying I would rather Gabe Davis a 13 than Michael Pittman of 23.
Me too.
Yeah.
Do you think the Eagles are going to do something in wide receiver?
I think they're going to wait until the draft.
And clearly, you know, there was a thought that that market might be depressed because it's not a great free agent market.
look i mean t higgins might be available for for trade now so that can impact the market as as well
some of these teams like you know the panthers we thought the panthers would be in on a wide receiver
the Patriots is a team that's thought to be in on a wide receiver i don't think the eagles get
a good number at wide receiver or there's not a wide receiver to go after we'll see yeah i i kind
of think that they should sign somebody for you know two or three million dollars um i think
they need to improve that third receiver, and they can't necessarily count on it happening
in the draft.
And that's where I disagree.
And you hope you draft over the guy, because I think they need to sign a guy who can
be their fourth receiver.
I think they can count on the draft because it's just such a deep draft of players
at that position.
But just to kind of reset the audience while we get questions and whatnot, if you thought
going into the day that Bryce Huff and Xavier McKinney and Saquan Barkley were the most
likely targets for the Eagles or the guys to really watch, then they're all still on the market.
If you thought the Eagles were going to sign a starting linebacker, which we both did,
the linebacker markets wide open still, right?
Actually, the market that seems to be hit the most so far is running back, you know,
two of the top running backs off, and you predicted that.
If you're a running back, you should act quickly because those seats could get filled pretty quickly as well.
Yeah, I mean, has anything that has happened so far
tangibly changed your expectations for the Eagles?
Not at all.
Nope.
There hasn't been any trades.
I think the only thing that is like materially interesting
for what we think or expect them to do
is just the price of the running backs.
Sure.
Like for Swift and Pollard to go for eight is interesting.
Yeah.
And it means that Sequin's going to go for more than that.
But even more than it meaning that,
Sequin's going to go for 11 or 12, it means that the guys who are sub that are going to go for
probably more than they would be willing to pay, I think.
That's a good point, too.
Okay.
I was kind of hoping we'd get trade stuff, but I guess that is not linked to the tampering.
It can be.
That's true.
Those could be agreed at any time.
T. Higgins.
What do you think there?
Oh, yeah.
I feel like he saw the pictures of Joe Burrow over the weekend and said, I don't want that guy to be my quarterback anymore.
and so he went in and demanded a trade.
I don't think I had anything to do with it, but...
In my mind, it did.
I think that Jamar Chase is about to get paid a lot of money.
Adam Schefter said they haven't even talked contract
with T. Higgins since March of last year.
So if you're T. Higgins, you're kind of thinking you're on the back burner there.
She probably are, right?
I mean, what I kept hearing is they expect him to play on the tag this year,
and T. Higgins probably wants to go to a place that's going to give him a long-term deal.
Now, Cincinnati's not a team that typically budges, so...
We'll see what happens there.
But if you're, like if you're Carolina and you have the 30 third pick in the draft,
and maybe that's Adonai Mitchell, right?
Maybe that's Ladd-McConkie.
I would trade that for T. Higgins and pay T. Higgins.
I mean, in theory, yes, but, like, you cannot just keep giving away all of your best future assets.
like if you're the Panthers, I don't know.
But you're probably going to draft a receiver there anyways.
Probably.
Yeah, I mean, I don't know.
You want to get some of these questions?
Sure.
Thank you for collecting them, Julia.
Would the Eagles sign Huff before trading sweat or Reddick?
Well, yes, because, yeah, you have to, like, Huff's not going to wait for you.
So, yeah, now maybe you lose some leverage.
I got to think at this point they know what the sweat and reddick
market is the other thing to consider. Yeah, I think they would have already, they would have a deal in
place. Like, it might sequentially process first, but I don't think that they would do that
without knowing what the resolution was on the other trade. Also, sometimes the sweat and the teams
that want sweat and Reddick, they're waiting to see, are they going to get Jonathan Grenard.
Like the Grinard signing maybe does move the, move the ball forward a little bit on negotiations
for Sweeter Reddick. Yeah, I mean, if the Texans, the Texans could draft an edge rusher in the
second round, I'm sorry, in the first round, it would surprise me for them to go trade for someone
like Rediker or Sweat when they could have just kept Grenard. It was seemingly a decent number.
But, yeah, I would think that they would act on Huff quickly. Do you guys want to eat your food?
Yeah, feel for me.
Part one of two. Big Flex.
Real time says, Zach Berman belongs in the kitchen.
Well, to be fair, he said the kitchen.
Okay.
Look, I like the cook.
You make a nice steak on the grill, right?
Yeah.
That's your go-to move?
Yeah.
I have no issue with being in the kitchen.
I enjoy the kitchen, right?
Okay.
Presidential Mike, do the Raiders trade Max Crosby?
No, I think Max Crosby's a big piece there.
I mean, part of what they...
Yeah, I think part of the appeal of Christian Wilkins is that maybe he frees up Max Crosby.
Part of the appeal of keeping Antonio Pierce is that Max Crosby said he wanted to trade if they did not keep him.
the other super chat here from Gavin.
Can you elaborate on why Ridley...
Oh, oh, we talked about that.
Thank you.
Sorry.
Next one. Do we talk about Sequin?
Jacob Williamson, what would Zee do if the Eagles make a major signing in the third quarter of the playoff game tonight?
Good question.
Yeah.
So, Jacob, well, there's two halves, but the spirit of your point.
I'm not disposing the question.
It's a fair question.
What would I do?
I would leave the game probably at that point?
Really?
Yeah, this is my job, right?
I mean, if they traded Hassan Reddick or Josh Swet during the game...
Yeah, but what is there to do that you can't do an hour after that?
Well, time is of the essence.
If we're doing an emergency show...
No, I am telling you right now, if the Eagles...
I got a tweet.
If the Eagles signed Sequin Barclay or trade Jalen Hertz during the middle of your game,
just finish the game and we'll do the emergency pod after that.
Finish the game.
So, yeah, I think...
They're not going to call a press conference.
You're not going to miss a press conference.
No, but you want to be a destination.
You want to be a destination for people to go to.
Now, there are times when I won't.
Like, my cousin, my cousin is one of my best friends, okay?
Lee?
Yeah, Lee.
Shout out to Lee.
Yeah.
I say one of because I have four brothers as well, right?
But Lee's awesome.
And I was the best man in Lee's wedding.
And I was giving the speech.
And the Eagles traded Brandon Boykin.
the night of Lee's wedding.
And I waited until, like, you know, after the speech.
And then I went and I tweeted out and I gave my thoughts on Brandon Boykin.
But I would not do it, like, during the ceremony you're doing.
Okay, okay.
That kind of thing.
I waited.
But that's a wedding, right?
This is, I would, yeah, if I would.
You also were working for a newspaper, right?
Like, you had to get, maybe not that night, but, like, part of the deal was, like,
You had to get something in the paper.
You had to get something up on the website.
Like, you do not have to rush to do that in the margins of, like, an hour making a difference.
You want people to, like, when something happens, what does Bo think?
What does Zach think?
Like, that's part of this job.
You want them to be a destination for that.
And we will do an emergency show, and they can come to the show 45 minutes later and find out what you think.
Okay.
All right.
Well, then maybe I'll just put a tweet out.
that I won't leave the game.
Yeah.
I am, I, you know, I don't control you.
You can do whatever you want.
I can't order you to do anything,
but I would strongly urge you to finish the game.
What else in the chat?
Let's see here.
What are the best movies Zeeb has seen with the kids lately?
Let's see here.
Well, I took Reed to, what was the one?
It was like they were
The person was
The it was an animated movie
And there was like an ice town
And the fire
Oh elemental
Elemental yes
So elementary
Pixar
Yeah on Father's Day
We went he and I
We go to the movies
He and I on Father's Day
Nice
The past two Father's Days
We did that
I'm trying to think what else
I've seen with him
That's it was mostly animated movies
I'm not really
He has into the
animated movies, but he picks them out, and I go with him. Yeah, we go to, we watch the trailers
online, he decides what he wants to see, and we go. Nice. Yeah. You didn't let him watch the trailer
for Barbie? I probably let it. I mean, I know she was letting it. He didn't pick Barbie.
Okay. I would be happy to take Sloan to Barbie, but we watch, we saw that on TV. But yeah,
I'd love to take Sloan to Barbie. Um, you're, wait, wait, here, can you go up to the other one that
You're not a misogynist, but you can't call yourself a fan of comedy and not watch Barbie.
Okay, I will watch Barbie, I promise you, when three agencies finished, I will watch Barbie.
All right, what else do we have here?
Okay.
Okay, this is a good question from Kyle.
What would most improve the team, a top-tier linebacker or a top-tier running back?
Good question.
Well, if you're saying the best running back in the league is Christian McCaffrey or the best lineback in the league is Fred Warner, let's say.
I think Christian McCaffrey would improve the Eagles more than Fred Warner would.
That said, I think that the Eagles, here I'll put it this way.
I think a top-tier running back would improve the Eagles more than top-tier linebacker.
I think a mid-level running back would do better for the Eagles than a mid-level linebacker, right?
I actually disagree with that.
Interesting, okay.
I think and this is the conversation we've had about like you know Vic Fangio raises the floor enough on defense and you're chasing ceiling on offense I think I think the best running back in the league would make a bigger difference for the 2024 Eagles than the best linebacker yeah yeah that's what I said oh I think the like 10th best linebacker would probably make a bigger difference than the 10th best running back yes that was my point I thought you were saying both of the Eagles
No, no, no, I said a mid-level linebacker would be better for the Eagles than a mid-level running back.
Oh, okay.
I thought you had said it first.
I thought you were saying both.
No, the Eagles would, here.
Yeah, I said a mid-level running back would do better with the Eagles.
Like, the Eagles can get by with a mid-level line with a mid-level running.
That's what I mean.
Like, a replacement-level player at running back would function better in the Eagles' offense than a replacement-level linebacker would function in the Eagles defense.
Oh, but I think the replacement-level linebacker is what more materially effect.
the quality of the Eagles defense.
Like the Eagles need a replacement level
linebacker. They probably need two.
They don't need a replacement level running back.
Okay, yeah. Yeah.
So I just phrased it incorrectly,
but I think we're on.
I think we're basically saying the same thing.
Exactly.
Yeah, like the Eagles need linebackers,
but I would buy that their
record next year would be more affected by.
And that's why like, you know,
Sequan Barkley has the upside
of being the best running back in football.
That's why I think they could talk themselves into it.
That's fair.
And I don't think there's a linebacker on the market who you could talk yourself into being one of the three best linebackers.
Certainly not one on the market.
You're right.
Right.
Yeah.
So I don't know.
That's interesting.
I like these questions.
What else do you have?
I bring them in.
Dean wants to say, we love you, Zach.
You enjoy the movies you want to enjoy.
Thank you, Dean.
I appreciate that.
Thank you, Dean.
That's a load off Zach's shoulders.
Yes, I was worried.
I was worried I came off as, like, misogynistic.
I would have never wanted that.
Ryan wants to know what's a legitimate deal for Sartan or Brian Burns.
Good question here.
Well, I would start with 22 for either one of them, right?
Now, maybe they ask for 22 and something else, but I would think 22,
I would think 22 should get it done for Burns.
Maybe what did Chub go for?
Bradley Chub went for first in a...
I forget.
Yeah.
So I would say for Sartan, Sartan.
Sirton is 23 years old.
That's the crazy thing.
I would give up a first and a third.
I think it was just a first for Chubb.
Okay.
Look, the Eagles traded for A.J. Brown.
Oh, no, a first and a fourth and Chase Edmonds for Chub and a fifth.
Okay.
I would say the A.J. Brown deal, which was a first and a third, or first and an exchange of thirds, right?
Or the Eagles traded a first, a third, and then they got a pick back.
Right.
Yeah, that's probably what I would think.
and I would do that for I would definitely do that for Patrick Stratan
who is who's 23 years old
the Eagles were yeah I would do it too
Eagles would have taken him over Devante Smith
right yeah so yeah and then Brian Burns
I would do I would do that for Brian Burns I think too
and what you got to think here is when I bring up
trading for either of these guys it's with the presumption
that you're getting a second round pick for either Reddick or sweat
right so you trade reddick for a second let's say or you trade sweat for a second you get back uh you know
you then sign bryce off to be an edge rusher you turn around you trade a first for
ser tan or you trade a first so you trade a first for certan and then you have three second round picks
and a third round pick you know you can still get a quality like three second round picks you can
get good player or you or you can get two starters right there should
You should, we would hope so, yeah.
So, yeah, that's something I would do.
Someone says they would give up 22 and 53.
You give first and a second, a big call,
because you've got to pace your tan, too.
Yeah, that's a lot.
Yeah.
But if you're, but if you're getting, you know,
a second pack for Rediker sweat.
You could start, I mean, a first and a second is probably too much.
Yeah.
But you can see, as you said, like all those moving pieces,
that's part of the puzzle.
Yeah.
All right, let's go to the next question.
Let's see.
How about from Rich, if they don't go Sequin,
what do you think they'll do at running back?
If they don't go Sequin,
what I think they do at running back is a cheap player
like an A.J. Dillon type and then draft somebody.
Or they make a trade for like a Damien Pierce.
So for instance, let's say Sequan signs with the Houston Texans.
okay I would call the Texans right now and I would trade for Damian Pierce
yeah you know that's that's something I would do and that's very how we like
that's how they got they got the Andre Swift last year right a day after or two days
after the Lions took Jimmer Gibbs so yeah you're you're kind of connecting the dots
there if it's down to or if he leaves the Giants and he's going to either the Eagles
or the Texans and he goes to the Texans Damian Pierce who already lost his job last year
to Devon Singletary, who is someone who, like, the, I don't know if the Eagles would have taken him back in 2022.
I know when the Eagles were playing the Texans that year, the Eagles thought pretty highly of Pierce based on the film that year.
So, yeah, that's something I would do.
Yeah, you've mentioned that before.
I think that's a good, I think that's a good Dock Connect.
And I think, I think you're right.
Like, if it's what we've been saying, if they're not going to pay for the, like, the A player, then I think,
they're going to bide their time and just sort of let the thing come to them.
And I'll scratch your back here.
You had him on the trade deadline show last year.
He was one of your trades.
No, well, you don't need to.
I got enough backpats.
But thank you.
Okay, next up, given Cam Juergens has had some injury issues in his first two seasons,
this is from EZIO, do you think the Eagles will sign or draft a backup center,
or do they view Dickerson for that role?
Interesting question.
In quackatology, we talk about Nick Harris.
I do think they're going to add interior offensive line depth,
and you're going to want to back up center.
Maybe someone who has, like, legitimate center experience in games.
But I don't think it's going to be, like, high on the priority list.
But I do think they're going to – it's not just going to be Dickerson and Jurgens.
Like, I don't think the plan will be to move Ken – to move Lenn Dickerson in the center that
Kemp Jekins gets hurt.
they're going to have someone who can play center for them on game days?
Yeah, I think maybe in-game it's possible that that's their plan.
But you do need to have somebody.
I just, you know, we have like only mildly disagreed about this,
but I think that they are going to sign a starting caliber or starting capable player
for the offensive line in free agency.
And by that, I mean like a Suea Opetta or a Jack Driscoll.
And I do think that at some point they need somebody who,
can snap. And so that could be in the draft, maybe likely in the draft, but I think they're
going to, you're right. Like they're going to have somebody else who can play center.
Speaking of which, there's a center off the market right now. The Washington commanders,
go back to the Cowboys well and sign Tyler, is it Bidich? Beiotich.
Beaudich. Thank you. Beaudich. Tyler Beiotich from Wisconsin.
Shout out to Josh.
Bad Biotish energy.
Hey, shout, hey, hey, I haven't texted you.
yet. I will text you after this. Congratulations,
Josh Tolentino.
Yes. Congratulations in order.
Yeah. And thank you for watching.
You want to tell the people? You can't just say congrats like what?
I was actually, I didn't know if I was speaking out of Turner, but he put it on the IG.
You put it on IG. Yeah. Josh Tolentino got engaged. Okay. And so yeah, and there you go.
Caliph says it. Congratulations. And way to lock it up. Congratulations.
I mean, it looked like what an unbelievable effort. I know.
Photographer.
Everything, yeah. Good for Josh.
Great job. Awesome.
Yeah.
All right. We're closing in on the end of hour two, Zach.
We're only halfway through. How do you feel about that?
This has been an interesting one.
Shout out to Roger Evoie, who's been very good to us in the past.
Big Raj.
A long time sick oh, says, I find myself every 10 minutes or so chuckling and saying,
poor Zach. Roger.
Thank you, man.
If only you knew. Yes.
I feel like this is going to be studied as like a hostage.
video in some school somewhere, right?
You know?
It's how long can you keep someone in a seat, making fun of him for four hours, and have him
trying to remain professional?
Yes.
I don't think we've been making fun of you the whole time.
I don't know.
No, I don't think I don't think.
I did have someone.
I don't think of as making fun.
I think we're having fun.
I had someone to ask, I had someone to ask me one time.
They're like, do you ever want to punch him in the face?
and I was like, first off, no, both green.
And I'm like, but I would never do that on air.
Yeah, good point.
But, yes, I think it was in regard to, like, some of the off-color stuff maybe, and then, yeah, and that's some other stuff that's not, like, I don't have to get into it on.
Let's hash it out.
We got two hours to be here.
Let's, let's focus on football.
What lines would you like me to not cross?
Well, no.
So I purposely do not talk about politics on air, okay?
That's not to lean toward a political persuasion, okay?
It's because, like, in general, I want as many people to watch our show as possible.
And I don't want, I don't think people are coming to the show for political opinions, number one.
And number two, I don't want to alienate people on either, like, of, like, any persuasion, okay?
but that's interpreted by some as like me like leaning a certain way and that's not that's not the case
it's simply like I'm here to you know it's it's the Michael Jordan line I don't get into it right but
but yeah so people people are like do you ever want to like freak out a bow about that and I'm like
no it's it's it's fine I've had conversations with him off the air about why I take this tact but yeah
but that comes up and then
and then just some other stuff
but nothing.
Just some other stuff.
Okay, well,
yeah.
That is actually an area where I do have a fundamental
like I think there are certain things
where the absence of an opinion
is expressing an opinion itself.
Yeah, it's not the absence of an opinion.
It's absence of expressing an opinion on here.
Like you can express your opinion in the voting booth, right?
You don't have to express your opinion.
I think, yeah, and that's why I think there are certain times when maybe that, that, that, the lack of saying something is saying something.
Yeah, and I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, it's not saying something, because I can feel strongly about something, but understand that when people are watching me, they're watching me, because, you know, they want to know about the Eagles or they want to have a platform.
They want to hang out.
They want to hang out with us, and they're not, you know, there's certainly a.
There's certainly other avenues for that.
That's kind of my personal view there.
Claire wants to know what's your favorite football movie.
Oh, my favorite football movie.
Probably any given Sunday.
I like the program.
Plays at the table.
Yeah.
Plates at the table.
That's the program.
The big Willie Beeman guy.
That's any given Sunday.
I know.
I'm going back to your first one.
Yeah, like any given Sunday.
I'm trying to think here.
Yeah, probably any given Sunday, I would say.
I liked playmakers to show when I was on ESPN.
Oh, yeah, I love the playmakers.
But of movies, any given Sunday.
NFL shut that down real quick.
Very quickly, yes, yes.
Yeah, they were very unhappy with how the league was portrayed,
and fairly so, but probably not inaccurately so.
Stephen Lee says,
Farah Harrison from Ford movie, The Fugitive.
Interesting.
Yeah.
I didn't have that.
on the board.
How would you have?
I don't know.
I feel like I guess I don't know.
Because you're not a star,
you wouldn't be a Star Wars guy.
I guess I kind of thought you might be
an Indiana Jones guy,
but.
Not as much as Mike Kay.
Wow, Mike Kay taking a shot.
No, he loves Indiana Jones.
Yeah, yeah,
the fugitive, you know,
and that scene when he's at the waterfall,
he says, yeah, I didn't kill my wife
and he jumps down.
That's a riveting scene.
Whenever I'm in Chicago, when I see the Chicago Hilton, I always think about that movie.
I was wondering if you might like Indiana Jones because it reminded you of Indianapolis.
I didn't put that together.
We have two deals here.
Yeah.
Yeah, do you want to report this?
We have two deals.
The guard market continues a pace as the Rams, according to Mike G.
Your Boy, are signing Jonah Jackson from the Detroit Lions on a three-year $51 million deal with $34 million guaranteed.
So that's at 17 a year.
This is a guy who was good for the Lions.
That's a lot of money.
The Rams are paying guards because they signed Kevin Dotson, too.
That's an interesting.
And they drafted Steve Avila in the second round last year.
Shout out to Media, Pennsylvania.
But yes.
So is one of those guys going to play tackle?
Is Jonah Jackson going to play center?
That's interesting.
I'm not sure.
We'll follow Jordan Rodriguez for that.
And then the other one, we've been sort of interested in seeing what's going to happen in the safety market.
And we saw Brandon Jones.
sign the Jaguars, according to Ian Rappaport, are signing Darnell Savage.
Ah.
You boy, a former first-round pick.
Yes.
Okay.
And the terms aren't out on the Savage one yet, right?
Correct.
Hmm.
So.
Also, the Rams are signing Colby Parkinson, the Seahawks tight end, according to Adam Shepter.
I heard he was going to have a market, yeah.
For 15 and a half million guaranteed on a three-year deal.
Why?
They had to play tight end for them.
What are the Rams?
doing.
They had to play tight end for them.
What are they building?
But yeah, Jonah Jackson, and for Eagles, like to tie this back to the Eagles, the Giants
were team that was rumored to be interested in Jonah Jackson.
So that was money that was being allocated.
Now in theory they have money allocated for Xavier McKinney, for Sequin and Barclay, something
to monitor there.
Jonah Jackson from?
Media.
There you go.
In Ohio State.
And Rutgers and before that he transferred.
Wow, what an odd offseason for the Rams.
That's weird.
All right.
Chekhov's apple might be taking a fall at some point soon here.
That's well, that's...
What's the, what kind of apple?
I said Chekhov's Apple, but I'm...
There's a great scene with an apple in Oppenheimer.
Oh.
I highly recommend it.
And Goodwill Hunting.
How you like them apples?
That's my favorite.
movie.
Nice.
You have said.
Good choice for you.
You want to do,
you want to compete against each other
in Immaculate Grid?
Sure.
Should we do it different?
We'll do it differently than the
Tick-Tac-toe that we usually do.
We'll just see who gets a lower score.
How do you feel about the four-hour show?
Are you upset beyond the lack of action here?
Do you join the conversation?
I'm enjoying the conversation.
I'm enjoying the conversation.
Yeah, but I also think, I think the stir craziness
is part of the appeal to the audience.
Fair enough.
Here you go.
All right.
got it. Oh, it's an Eagles one today. Oh, we got an Eagles one. Okay. Oh, you can pull it up?
Oh, great. Okay. Should we do the Tic-Tacto then? Let's do it live, yeah. Okay.
Claire F says the game plan was entertaining. I didn't see the game plan. Is that with the Rock?
Yeah. Okay. Oh, interesting. I saw the tooth fairy. That's not good for you.
By the way, shout out to read. He lost his eighth tooth overnight. His eighth tooth? Wow.
Yeah. He was.
nervous. So it was loose during dinner
last night, and he didn't
want to lose it because he wanted to lose it
in school today. He thought that would be really cool.
And so he was a little miffed
this morning, because he was hoping that it would
lose it during school. But
yeah, I was... How many are out
at the moment?
Oh, I think that's...
Yeah, it's just really that one. But his
his teeth are like all over the place.
I shouldn't say that. That's not nice.
But here, I'll show you...
His teeth are all over the place.
His teeth tooth. Oh.
And it's C.J. McCollin jersey today.
Nice.
Yeah, so he lost that one right there.
That's the spot.
Yep.
Nice.
Yeah, so shout out to read on that one.
Shout out to read.
Yep.
Love a read.
I feel like that's a good, that's a good pace.
Eight teeth are in.
Seriously.
Yeah, seriously.
Yeah, he's.
Good for him.
Tooth Fairy might need a stimulus package.
What's the going right for the tooth fairy these days?
Well, I kind of put my, well, the tooth fairy put herself in a corner on this.
because...
Didn't think about the long game.
When we started, we were saying a dollar a tooth.
Okay.
Okay?
Which first tooth, that's fine.
Second tooth, that's fine.
Wasn't the thing about the eighth tooth.
Right?
So, yeah, so the tooth fairy is very generous as my wife pointed out to me this morning.
So...
Well, yes.
Good for the tooth fairy.
Yeah.
Good for read.
But the tooth fairy might cap it at a certain, like, when you get to...
Yeah.
Interesting.
Yeah.
Okay.
We've got to figure that out.
All right, Zach, you get to go first.
The rules of Tic-Tac-Tow here at play.
And we got another Eagles one.
That's exciting.
Now, if it's a tie, we'll do the lowest average score.
Sure.
And an Eagle, if it's in a different Eagles box, gets half the points.
Okay, so I'm going to go with the Eagles Broncos in the middle here.
And I'll go with our old friend, Alex Singleton, who did not come on the show, unfortunately, join the Super Bowl.
But Alex Singleton.
I let it do the timer.
That's fine.
We don't just, yeah, we have enough time.
We don't need to speed this one along.
I can't see.
What's the percentage there?
What's the percentage there on?
Five.
Okay.
Oh, well, this is interesting.
We'll keep it going, but we have a, oh, we have an Eagles move.
Shefter has it.
Bryce Huff is signing a three-year $51.1 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Wow.
So that means certainly a trade would have to be coming.
And this is an indication that maybe the roster of building philosophies have not changed.
That's $17 million a year for Bryce Huff.
I like Bryce Huff.
What are you laughing at?
I saw the highest NFL history.
I was wondering what it was.
It's the highest paid non-QB undrafted free agent in NFL history.
So good job getting that nugget.
Yeah, that's a good.
That's an agent being like, look at what I did.
This is fantastic.
Yeah, big move for the Eagles.
I'm going to read what I wrote about Josh Huff or Bryce Huff because how many times are
going to do the Josh Huff mistake?
I'm good here.
I have always liked Bryce Huff.
But, and I think that there is the, we have talked about it, there is a Hassan Reddick
connective tissue here.
So let me, I'm just going to read the whole thing here because we got time.
Jets General Manager, Joe Douglas.
said at the Combine, the team does not plan to place the franchise tag on Huff, who became a
household name for tape crunchers with a 10-sac season that topped his previous high of three
and a half from the year prior. He has never been more than a rotational player, in part because
of his undersized frame at 6355, which is a generous listing. This is a pass rush specialist
who played 43% of his total snaps on third down in 2023, compared to 32% on first down and
22% on second down.
So most of his snaps are coming,
or the plurality at least,
are coming on third down,
which you would expect.
All of that seems like it paints the picture
of a buyer be aware situation,
like Zach has talked about.
This is a guy you're paying
for coming off his best season.
But I wonder if there is a discounted version
of Hassan Reddick's free agency experience at play.
Even though Huff's overall production
took a major leap in 2023,
his efficiency remains steady
from a 2022 season
in which he also hit
the quarterback on 7% of his
pass rush snaps, which ranked third
in the league among edge rushers
with at least 100 pass rush snaps,
that his efficiency held steady
with more than double the volume, is enough
to consider whether this is a burgeoning star
even if the market figures
to be skeptical. Now, not super skeptical,
17 million is a lot to do,
is a lot to pay, but
you know, Howie Roseman said
they want to get younger on defense.
Brysoff is 26. We'll be 26
in September.
And obviously they are remaking that edge group.
I am fascinated to see what the other domino here is,
who they're going to trade.
But this is like the reason I like this signing is because even though you're paying a lot,
there is a chance that he outperforms this contract.
Like he could be really good.
Now, he could also just be a bubble that pops when, you know,
this is a guy that opposing offenses will try to target in their running game.
Like they will try to run on Bryce Huff.
He is not a great run defender, but this is the Eagles valuing what they value.
And it's like, oh, maybe we shouldn't be surprised when the Eagles draft a tackle in the first round.
Maybe we shouldn't be surprised when they spend their big deal on an address.
Exactly.
Yeah, this is.
So the first free agency rule I say is don't pay for a career year.
I view this as a little different because he was, he had that year in a situational role.
So he's actually going to play a bigger role for you, presumably, than he played with the Jets last year.
So he's growth.
He's an ascending player in that regard.
You like the age profile.
He's younger than sweat.
He's younger than Reddick.
And, yeah, it makes a lot of sense.
He's someone who we've been targeting.
They're saying restart the stream.
Should we?
The stream is slow again.
Okay.
Yeah.
So Bryce Huff, it just makes a lot of sense for the Eagles.
Like we said, the next shoot of fall would be a potential trade of Sonoretic, Josh Sweat.
But the profile is what Hallie Roseman likes to look for in free agency.
There's a reason why he advanced farther than any other edge rusher in quacketology last week.
I wrote this morning.
Final four, right?
Yeah.
I wrote this morning.
My expectation was that they signed Bryce Huff.
They signed Bryce Huff.
It just makes a lot of sense for the Eagles.
I like the signing.
The 17, what, 17.5 million?
That's a fine.
Mike Jesus, up to 20 a year?
Yeah.
So, look, you're getting him for less
than an extension for Reddick or Sweat would be.
Reddick would be over 20 million.
I assume sweat would be over 20 million.
So I like it.
I like the optionality of this.
You bring in Huff, you trade either Redick or Sweat.
You get a second round pick and change.
You need Huff to perform, right?
I mean, I don't want to dismiss Reddick or Sweat.
They're both really good players.
But I think Huff can grow into a bigger role for the Eagles.
And, yeah, good move for the Eagles here.
It's interesting.
Do you guys want to restart?
I mean, I think so at this point.
Yeah, because it's the lowest it's been.
Okay.
We will be right back on this street.
on we're gonna have to is it a brand new thing right yeah maybe we can just like
pause I can pause it for a minute and try to reset it that we don't have to
start will people have to go they'll have to go if we restart it fully they'll have to
go to the new the new link which I can put in this one okay so so what are we
gonna what are we telling people to do I mean I'm just checking it again
round quick it's five it's at five it's buffering they're saying it's not it's not
getting better so why don't we restart fully okay and so we're gonna have to
send out a new link
To people?
Okay.
All right.
So we're going to end the show.
We're going to send out a new link for the rest of the afternoon.
I guess stay tuned to our Twitter feeds or check out the PHLY YouTube page.
And hopefully we'll be back as soon as possible.
