Hello, everybody, and welcome to the PHLY Eagles postgame show following the Eagles thrilling 14 to 13 victory over the New England Patriots.
There's plenty to talk about Bo Wolf and Jamie Lynch.
We're going to hear from Zach Berman live from Gillette Stadium in a little bit.
We're hoping to maybe hear from Nick Siriani as well.
And a couple injuries to talk about Jamie, Tyler Steen leaving this game.
We will keep an eye on that.
That's a big one.
also John Ross and E.J. Jenkins suffering some injuries.
But we got to talk about the main thing.
Keep the main thing.
The main thing here, Jamie.
And I think that we can all agree that we may have the makings of a backup quarterback
controversy here.
Kenny Pickett in the first half, boy, the numbers, the completion percentage might
lie to you.
11 of 13 for 67 yards.
He was also sacked four times.
If you watch that, keeping in mind that it was mostly the,
Patriots starting defense going up against an Eagles offense that had second team and third
team offensive linemen out there and a wide receiver core missing its top three or four people.
But Kenny Pickett did not look like he was processing quickly.
You know, he was running around, was not recognizing the blitz.
We can, you know, was not pushing the ball down field over the course of two preseason games.
He has completed three passes that have gained 10 yards or more despite getting
exact six times. Only one of those passes went more than 10 yards in the air beyond the line of
scrimmage. And then in the second half, Tanner McKee comes in working with the same crew, if not
lower level players against admittedly a lower level Patriots defense. But he's slinging it, 15 of 19 for
140 yards. And what you see is that Tanner McKee throws guys open and gets the ball out quickly,
recognizes what he's seeing in front of him.
Kenny Pickett from what we have seen is sort of waiting until the last second and
firing balls in there.
And he's not necessarily trusting what he sees if he sees anything.
And Jamie, my general point here is that this is pretty much what I have seen over the
course of the summer.
This tracks with everything that I have seen from both of these guys in practice.
And what I see is what the players see.
And at some point, it gets to a level where you cannot look the locker room in the eye and be honest and say this guy is ahead of this guy when everybody knows what they have been seeing.
What did you see tonight, Jamie?
Yeah, I mean, I think it's obvious.
I think Dave Spadero coming on at the end of the game and saying, ah, no, not so fast.
There's no controversy here.
The Eagles really like this kid.
You think that one was called in?
You think how we called that one in?
Yeah, I mean, it's twofold.
It's either trying to save face of, you know, trading up to get or giving up a pick, you know, essentially not a ton of picks.
I think it was the differential of what, like 20 picks in the third round or something like that.
I'd have to go back and look at it.
But, you know, one, you trade it for the guy.
So it looks like he's horrible.
And then two, I don't know if you're going to be aggressive and try to move them or not.
So it's like, hey, no, we really like this guy.
We're not going to admit any mistake here.
But it's clear.
Everyone can see it.
You know, the Patriots defense might have been slightly worse in the third quarter as opposed to the second quarter.
But the offensive line was the same offensive line that Kenny Pickett was salsa dancing with.
And you just saw that right away.
You saw him throw guys open.
There was two throws tonight that Pickett made, you know, E.J. Jenkins and a tough one there to John Ross and some traffic with Gonzalez all over him.
But those were like four yards slants and outs.
I mean, if we're getting excited.
They were good throws.
They were right on the money.
But like,
they were,
they were tight windows,
but they were eight yards down the field.
If that's your highlight for the game,
yikes.
And I think it's,
it's pretty obvious here that Tanner McKee is,
is more suited for the team's backup quarterback role.
I mean,
let's,
let's be fair.
Kenny Pickett has started for two seasons in the NFL.
The larger sample size matters more than,
you know,
what we have seen and what the Eagles have seen in camp this summer.
He's been learning a new offense,
you know,
trying to be as generous as possible.
But I just, you cannot have,
have been there all summer long
and watched and think that
he's going to be better for the offense.
And listen, this is the same thing we saw from Tanner McKee
last summer in the preseason.
What is impressive is that he gives his guys a chance
to get the, like, to win the ball.
He gets the ball out quickly.
He throws a very catchable pass.
And he's very accurate.
I mean, Joseph,
And Gata tonight had five catches for 88 yards with like no separation.
But you know what I was doing with Joseph and not in Gata tonight.
I was going back and looking up how big of a high school prospect he was.
Because I was like, I think he was 67th overall in his class coming out of high school.
He was the number six.
Yeah, he was the number six high school receiver coming out.
Just had some neck problems at Clemson a little bit.
But to your point, like E.J. Jenkins went up and made a one-handed catch that was like,
damn all right e j i was unfamiliar with your game uh and the same point with nata too like that's been the
that's been the connection all summer is mckee to e j jenkins yeah he he impressed as well but you're right
like mckee gives his guys a chance to go out and make a play whereas kennie picket is still
spinning around uh and just not able to see what tanner mckee is able to see and i and i saw people
in pitts it's funny tweeting the night like uh-oh philadelphia is learning about kenny picket and
they're not happy.
And it's like, well, yeah, if you tried to support this for the past two years
and tried to convince yourself that this guy was a legit starting NFL quarterback,
that's down bad.
I'm smiling ear to ear because I just got the text message that the first cameo
that I have submitted for next Thursday's Osprey Awards,
a week from today, the first one has been sent to me.
So I'm happy about that.
I will not.
I can't give away more than that.
but I'm happy about that.
Oh, man, I might have to text you on the side.
I don't know if I can go a week with that tease.
Yeah, I think the, I'm trying to think about like the most realistic,
delicate way that they can handle this, right?
Trade them.
You could look, you mean, you could look for a trading target.
I think then you're probably left in a situation where they want a third quarterback
anyway.
Part of the appeal of Kenny Pickett for them is that he is.
on a very cheap contract.
He's cost controlled for the next two years.
I don't, I mean, it's not the worst thing in the world.
If Kenny Pickett's your number three quarterback,
I mean, it makes the trade look worse, the value.
Sure.
But he's certainly roster worthy, like they can keep all free guys.
And the thing that I had said to Zach earlier in the summer
is that I thought it was very unlikely that there was any scenario that like week one,
Tanner McKee would be the game day active quarterback.
and Kenny Pickett would be the emergency third quarterback.
That seems very unlikely that the Eagles would signal to the league
that they misjudged the Pickett situation.
But that if there was a serious Jalen Hertz injury,
Pickett would have a short leash.
And they would be willing to give the ball to Tanner McKee
if Pickett didn't look the part.
The more this goes on,
I don't know that it's that crazy,
that they could just let McKee be the number two on game day.
Like, the ball don't lie, you know?
Yeah, yeah, and you're right about Pickett.
I think part of the reason he's here is Jalen Hurts is getting paid big boy bucks.
And with that, you need a cheap, you know, hopefully multi-year backup plan.
And I think they probably were a little sick of going just year to year to year with the backups.
And, you know, they saw two years with Pickett, you know, somehow he was a first round pick.
That case study needs to be done one day, how that happened.
but I'm sure the two years played a big part in, all right, let's get him in the system.
And, you know, we can help develop him a little bit.
He's very cheap.
And we have him for two years.
But Tanner McKee said not so fast, my friends.
So it'll be interesting to see what they do.
I, you know, I think he is legit good.
I think he's a good quarterback.
He throws a nice ball, a very catchable ball.
There was two tonight.
I forget one was in, in God, and the other E.J. Jenkins was nice,
but there was another one I'm thinking of on the right side line.
I forget who it was too.
But they were like, you know, as you said, he threw them open and he threw him to a spot and he let the guy go get it.
And Kenny Pickett, we just haven't, we just simply haven't seen anything like that in two games now.
Yeah, I think he processes very quickly.
And, you know, there was like the excuse making at the end of the broadcast.
Like, well, you know, we know that this is preseason and, you know, you're not seeing the same things you would see in the regular season.
Well, guess what?
It's the same case for Kenny Pickett.
And he's not seeing it clearly.
So, you know, it goes both ways.
Yeah, it does.
And in fairness to pick it, the offensive line was not good.
And it was a mismathe.
And they were going up against the Patriots starting defensive line, which is at least average, if not above average.
Yeah, I thought the backup offensive line unit was struggling.
And then Steen went down and it seemed like they just kind of pulled Fred Johnson, the left Keegan in.
So it was kind of like a.
Mish-Mash unit of second and third teamers.
It was brutal, but then McKee comes in with a similar-ish offensive line and makes it look
not as brutal.
So, you know, in fairness to him, I do think he was under duress a little bit more than
McKee was for whatever reason.
But still, you just don't, it just doesn't look the part.
Do you think there's any chance that we see movement here?
I mean, how could you not consider it, right?
I mean, it's clear.
I think Tommy Lawler put out a tweet, like Stevie Wonder could see that Tanner McKee is worthy
of the backup quarterback.
And, you know, it's that glaring.
And like you said, you know, the vets in the locker room.
Not that, you know, you get all worked up in arms about the backup quarterback, a guy
you hope you don't really see.
But like, come on, you're lying to our face.
Like, we watch two games of this guy.
We've seen the tape.
Tanner McKee is better than Kenny Pickett.
So I would think some vets are like, yo, Howie, come on.
What are you doing here?
So why not?
not try to shop them. I mean, if you can get like a sixth round pick, a seventh rounder,
like, screw it, move on. Like, you got the better guy in McKay.
Interesting. All right. I think that is, I think that is the story out of this game,
but let's, I do too.
I do. We're going to work out of the specifics, especially on offense. Now, on offense,
none of the starters played. So Mackay Beckton did not dress in this game while Tyler
Steen did. I think it's fair to say that that competition is,
is all but over.
Yeah.
Week one, it will be Mackay Beckton starting at right guard, barring injury.
Now, the offensive line was to start.
Fred Johnson at left tackle, Trevor Keegan at left guard,
Brett Tooth at center, Tyler Steen at right guard,
and Darren Kinnard at right tackle.
Steen goes down with an injury.
And as we talked about in the pregame show, Jamie,
I think Steen has played pretty well when he's been healthy,
but he was clearly laboring last week with the injury
and throughout practice this week.
And then he goes out there today and suffers an injury.
I mean, I don't know.
I don't know if this was a risk of re-injury situation,
but you do have to wonder about that a little bit.
We have no word on the severity of the injury,
but he was carted off.
It has been a tough summer for Steen.
I think to some part, like a little bit beyond his control.
Yeah, my first thought was that it was the same ankle
that had been bothering him and he was just kind of like it was too much for him.
It was a good sign that he got up and walked off the field and then was carded.
You know, when you see the card on the field, you immediately kind of know it's season ending.
So the fact he was able to get up, you know, I guess that's somewhat encouraging.
But yeah, it is the more and more I think about it, it is strange to just, I guess,
Doutlin and Nick love what they're seeing from Becht in practice every day.
because to just kind of crown this guy,
and I know the injury to Steen kind of prevented him from giving it his best,
but to just crown this guy without many reps in the preseason does seem strange
because Lane Johnson,
stalwart right of him,
but to the left of him,
and he can lean on Cam Juergens for guard advice as much as he wants,
but it's not like Jason Kelsey's there anymore.
So, you know,
your center to right side of the line is two-thirds new.
So to just give this guy the job, I mean, hopefully speaks to he's been that impressive, but it does also.
I don't agree.
I don't think that he has been that impressive.
So you're there every day.
I'm not seeing it.
Yeah.
I think they're a little bit enamored with the idea of having this massive guy who is very powerful at the point of attack and can be very body moving in the running game as their right guard.
Did you see Jimmy Kemski with the very good research tonight that if Bechton is the opening day starter, which presumably he is, they are going to be the second heaviest offensive line unit in NFL history, to your point about being enamored with the size.
Only the Cincinnati Bengals, I believe it was.
I got to find Jimmy's tweet here.
I think it's the Bengals current offensive line.
Oh, is it the current?
Okay.
I thought I thought he originally said.
But yes, their average height and weight with Beckles.
starting is 6 foot 6, 337 pounds.
The Bengals are heavier by two pounds.
So they would be the second heaviest line in the league.
Yeah, Jurgens.
Come on, man.
Get a couple of cheese steaks, get some scrapple in there.
Two pounds is nothing.
So I guess, but it does seem weird that they're not giving them more reps and more time together.
Yeah, I think there is, you can imagine that Stoutland in his mind is
chasing a little bit of the
Brandon Brooks offensive line
and how if you have
those four massive guys
and especially two huge guards,
how that allows your undersized
center whose strength is
like what he can do in the open field,
the bigger the guys around him are,
the more like the easier it is
for that guy to get out, right?
There's just
geometrically there's more space
covered by the big guys
so that he can get out and go down field.
So the theory of it, I understand, we'll have to see.
I just, I want to caution that Mackay Beckton is not a, you know, this is not a first round pick
stepping in at guard and you should expect that level of play.
I think it's going to take some time.
Yeah, this is not a turnkey situation, which again, makes it stranger that he didn't play a little
bit more.
But, you know, run-wise, if he's able to become this unit that moves guys around at will,
you know, Sequant Barkley, all of a sudden running behind Lane Johnson and that mammoth,
man on the right side could turn into a lot of fun for him because like she's like
Beckton is strong and powerful. If he can get guys moving, I mean, Lane and his capability.
And if you're pulling Juergens, you know, on the run side, you would, you would think Beckton's
okay. I'm sure it's past where they're more concerned. But say,
Sequin, just get behind those two big old hogs and, and have at it.
Okay, elsewhere on offense, and we'll get to the defense because they did play several starters on defense, and I think it's worth unpacking, Jimmy.
But elsewhere on offense, I don't know that there's much, much else to talk about.
Now, after Steen went down, it was interesting. Nick Gates went in at Red Guard.
He's been playing mostly left guard.
Matt Hennessy, apparently, unavailable tonight, according to Ross Tucker.
On the broadcast, you also saw Brett Tooth at one point moving from center to right tackle as they continue to tout his versatility.
Dylan McMahon going in at center.
I think McMahon has the team made and will be on this roster.
He showed some of that athleticism and open field ability in this game.
But the offensive line was not great, as you would expect.
Max Sharping at left tackle struggled when he had to go in there.
The other wide receivers in tight ends.
The former second round pick, is that who Scott Graham was talking about of the chiefs?
Sharping, yes.
Yeah, a long time ago.
Yeah, he came in and immediately let up a sack and let pick it out to do.
And to be fair to him, he is typically a guard, and he's been asked to play left tackle, which is not his natural position.
E.J. Jenkins, second to Engada in receiving yards tonight. Five catches for 47 yards.
Tight end three? I mean, he's got a shot now. He went, he went down with an injury as well and was able to jog off, but it didn't look like a necessarily good one. So we'll have to keep an eye on there.
Eagle is very injured at tight end right now. Calcatera down.
Oak Weybenam down and now E.J. Jenkins potentially down.
And even with all of that, C.J. Y. J. Y. Jenkins was behind E.J. Jenkins and the pecking order tonight.
So that is worth keeping an eye on. I do think that E.J. Jenkins has a chance if he is not hurt to make the roster as the third tight end.
Yeah. I mean, that jump catch alone kind of, I was like, oh, damn. Okay. All right. E.J.
That was nice to see. But he made two or three nice receptions tonight before getting hurt. So I would think he's got a real
shot there at tight end three.
I want to speak,
Julia,
I talk about Shepley before we move on.
Well,
I'm wondering if we have
Siriani's presser.
It seems like I'm getting the
firing up notifications that he might be.
We're going to try something new tonight.
We're going to try something new tonight and bring you.
How do you expect this to go?
The Eagles, Twitter.
This is history we're making on.
Yeah, this is.
This is a ground game show, Jamie.
I'm sure that Julia is efforting.
What did you,
what did you make a Shepley?
catches for 31 yards and five carries for 15 yards a little bit less
dynamic tonight but that's okay yeah I you know I think he missed a it's picket at the
podium right now so we will wait we don't need to carry the picket podium just
oh poor poor picket getting mics in your face after that yeah Shipley you know he missed
that he slipped on like the reception on like a third and one where he didn't really have the
veteran true fall forward he kind of fell sideways uh I was a little bum by that
He slipped on another run.
But the play I wrote down in my notes was that nice catch and run he made on second and 22.
He picked up 19 and totally made that, you know, an obtainable third down.
It was a nice patient catch and run by him.
He kind of waited for some blocking to set up.
And I think that's a nice run, yeah.
Yeah, I think that's the thing that's been most impressive with him to me is his patience
and ability to see the field a little bit and allow the blockers.
You know, he knows he's not.
running over anyone. I think you saw him kind of dip out on a couple tackle situations on the
loose ball on the punt tonight. So I think he's a he's a he's going to wait for the big hogs to get
in front of him. But really nice play. He looks quick and patient out there. And he's actually
getting interviewed by Mike Quick and John Clark right now. I still can't believe he's kind of an NFL
running back looking at him. But the kid looked like he belongs. Yeah, we'll see in the regular season.
but I think he looks good.
Well, I mean, with Seekwan Barkley,
how much is the running back too actually going to see a field?
Yes, exactly.
I mean, you paid Sequan to come be a three down back
and he's going to be a three down back.
I think that's right.
A question in the chat about E.J. Jenkins as a blocker.
That is not his calling card.
He was a former wide receiver at Georgia Tech.
However, I do think that he has shown effort there as a blocker.
And I think you saw that a little bit tonight.
Actually, I believe on that Shipley screen,
Jenkins is getting a guy out of the way and doing a pretty good job.
I think Ross Stocker got a little horny for the blocking on that Chipply play.
So he got a little ramp up on that one.
Yeah.
And listen, I hear the people.
Tyreon Davis Price looked a little bit juicy tonight,
four carries for 28 yards,
looked like he had a little bit more juice than Lou Nichols tonight.
Lou who had four for 10 and like robbed by the crooked.
What was that?
He had done that overturn.
What was that?
What would have been in his second straight game with a fourth and one conversion?
Insane overturn.
And listen, do I wonder, you know, should I have listened when E.J. Smith forced me to make Lou
Nichols my Boat Wolf Camp Crush?
I'm not going to throw him under the bus.
You know, I could have gone with E.J. Jenkins, my other finalist.
I could have gone with Thomas Booker, one of the other, you know, the other finalist of the final three.
But I still believe in Lou.
He's not going to be the kickoff returner.
I think we know that for sure.
But as a big back, I think he offers him a little bit more wiggle than he showed tonight.
But I do think that we're probably looking at three running backs on the active roster.
More likely than not.
Yeah.
Do you think he gets practice squad at Bo?
I mean, we got you on the couch here.
Yeah, I think they'll probably carry at least one of them on the practice squad.
But, you know, the arch of the Bow Wolf Camp Crush, like they're.
their returns is very long.
You need not look more than a year ago
when someone was touting Tanner McKee
and Morojimo,
two of the stars from tonight's game.
Okay, so let's settle down a little bit.
I know, you know, loving is hard.
You put your heart out there, you extended it,
and if he doesn't make the team,
I'm afraid of a little bit.
Has literally never proven the Bull Wolf Kram Crash
wrong. Every single one of them has hit.
Well, Thomas Booker showed up for you tonight.
You know?
What's that?
Thomas Booker showed up for you tonight.
You're goddamn ready to do.
Back to back set to end of drive.
A lot of people out there are saying it's to spite you because he got snubbed.
No, Thomas and I are on close terms.
There's no doubt about it.
He wouldn't do that to you.
Okay.
Because it looked like a snub game tonight.
You know, he was extra motivated.
No, no, no.
If anything, he was doing it to prove me right.
Okay.
All right, he's got your back.
That's nice.
All right.

Pre-alcohol, it's the world's first genetically engineered probiotic.
It was invented by people much smarter than me, PhD scientists, to tackle those rough mornings after a night of drinking.
Here's how it works.
When you drink, alcohol gets converted into a toxic byproduct in your gut.
You don't want that.
It's this byproduct, not the dehydration.
that is to blame for your rough groggy morning the next day.
Pre-alcohol uses an enzyme to break this byproduct down.
So just remember to make Zbiotics your first drink of the night,
drink responsibly, and you're going to feel your best tomorrow.
I got young kids running around the house.
And, you know, if me and my wife are going to go out on a date night or whatever it may be,
I make sure.
Yeah, I have that pre-alcohol before the drinks when I go out
so that I notice a difference the next day.
and I'm not groggy and miserable until I get my coffee.
So I'm not going to lie to you.
Go check out Z-Biotics right now.
Use that code, P-H-L-Y Eagles.
You get 15% off pre-Biotics and the pre-alcohol is just, it's a wonder.
It's a game-changer.
So whatever it is, vacations, weddings, birthdays, reunions, there's so much going on.
Get the most of your summer plans by stopping, stocking up on pre-alcohol now.
go to Zbiotics.com slash P HLY Eagles to get 15% off your first quarter when you use code PHLY Eagles at checkout.

And thank you to Zybiotics for sponsoring this episode and our good times ahead.
I believe Z biotics the only sponsor we have that has both ZB and Bo in...
I would imagine so.
I would imagine the Z is the tough one.
Yes.
Bo is probably quite common.
Yeah, there's a lot of Bizonos.
Yeah.
But that's because I spell it correctly.
Well, yes, yeah.
All right, let's talk a little bit about the defense as we wait for Siriani.
Let's just sort of set the stage on who played.
The starting defensive line, the defensive tactics.
did not play, but Bryce Huff played the first two series.
What a first quarter.
And he looked good, made a couple tackles on the first two plays of the game.
And the linebackers both played Devin White and Zach Bonn.
I think for the first two series.
And then Bond stayed in for an extra series when Devin White came out.
Isaiah Rogers and Quinion Mitchell and Keely Ringo all played.
Isaiah Rogers played the least of those guys, played I think, just two series.
Mitchell came out a little bit shortly after that, played both the nickel and outside.
Ringo played most of the, I think even into the second half, which was a little bit of a
surprise and got ran by by Javon Baker on a nice throw from Drake May that Baker was not able to
haul in.
And on another play Ringo looked like he got beat deep too, although that one he was able to force
the guy out.
And then the safeties were Maddox and Bradbury.
And we will get to Bradbury in a minute, Jamie.
me, but Ovo.
Avanti Max, a very nice play, intercepting Jacoby Brissette in the end zone on, I believe,
the second drive of the game, or if it wasn't the first drive, a really nice play from
Avanti.
Now, you were dogging him a little bit for running out of bounds, not going for the kids.
I get it.
Come on, man.
You got a chance of glory right there.
One cutback, he had to be an offense alignment, and you're gone.
That's smart.
That's just, that's just veteran.
It is.
It's veteran football, much like him picking up Quinyon on the bridge.
He's being a good vet and doing the smart thing.
but my man could have had to pick six.
It looked to me like he ran out of gas a little bit, if we're going to be honest.
But he needs to stay healthy.
Like, let's not push a hamstring here, you know?
Sure.
Defense has to go right back out there, you know?
Yeah, that's a good point.
He did, that was a really nice play to jump that.
To the defensive line, Bryce Huff stood out a little bit, four tackles.
There was one play in particular where I think I wrote it down in my notes,
who he shed.
I think it was it chook's okoropor.
Yeah, it was the tight end.
And he straight up tossed him like a rag doll
and made the tackle, I think, with white.
But they look good.
And I think Nick Siriani, we're going to give this a try now, Beau.
So we'll circle back to this rest of this defensive conversation.
Here we go.
Courtesy of the Eagles Twitter account.
Thank you very much.
All right.
Let's see how this goes.
Ooh, the sound.
We're going to bang up that sound.
Hmm.
Come on, Nick, I want to hear the cliches.
Mm, all right.
Good lighting.
I think he's talking about.
Yeah.
Yeah, what do you think he's talking about?
His post-game dinner?
Lobster rolls.
Help each other, he said.
Oh, are you a lip reader?
Something in the first half.
The beard kind of hides his upper lip,
so you don't really get that definition.
Hmm.
Hmm.
Do we think we got a shot here, Julia?
Or should we abandon ship?
What are we saying?
Stone cold, E.T. in the chat, yes, we're aware there's no audio.
We hear what you hear.
We're working on this.
We're trying things.
We'll try to run that back in a second.
I do think that tonight was a pretty bad sign for James Bradbury's chances of making
Oh, yeah.
I think that.
that Bradbearer, like, I am, I'm not rooting for like yet one thing or another. I think James Bradbury is like a, as a great guy to talk to by all, by everything I can tell. He's a good guy. I think it's a great story. And I appreciate that a guy who is getting, you know, getting paid what he's getting paid, who has been as high level player as he has been on the outside is doing whatever he can to try to make this roster and trying a new position. But it was a tough watch tonight. I mean,
He missed a tackle in the open field.
Austin Hooper ran right by him on a pass that was overthrown by Jacoby Brissette.
He gets run over on a run in the middle of the field.
And it just doesn't look like this is going to happen.
And then meanwhile, I think Tristan McCollum looked pretty good and has continued to look pretty good.
He flies around out there and makes plays on the ball.
I think I wouldn't I'm not I'm not happy to say this but I think I think that Brad Bear
experiment is probably over and I wouldn't even be surprised if like they move on this week
I agree with you he's cooked I mean when he whiffed on that one look now granted two
Eagles whiffed on that play are we giving us a whirl again what we got Nick talk dirty to me
Yeah.
It was working in there.
It was working before the show.
We had to go and something has changed.
So Gene DeAngelo in the chat says that Zach Berman just asked Siriani if there was a quarterback competition for quarterback too.
But I agree with you.
Like Bradbury, it's a sunk cost.
You're eating the money either way.
Do you value the veteran leadership that much?
or do you want to give Tristan McCollum
a legit chance at being, you know, safety three
or four, depending on how you consider Maddox,
I guess four probably.
Probably smart to give McCollum the shot.
He's one of the guys that made the notepad in the second half.
He kind of popped.
He made a nice physical breakup where he high pointed a ball
and kind of broke up a play that was potentially close to a first down.
And then he made another really nice.
hit. He came in and squared up. It was the running back for the Pats, I believe. McCollum came
downhill and threw his body into him into a bigger guy and stopped him. So there was two or
three plays tonight from McCollum where I went, oh, I'm not letting that guy go. So I'm with you. I think
Bradbury's probably done here. Thanks for the two years, weird two years. And hopefully
you catch on somewhere else if they do let you go.
yeah we still
this is a good effort from Julia
fantastic
the Eagles
nice to see it
yeah
the beard looks good
looks nice and trimmed and capped
yeah
not bad
a little bit
a little bit less
salt a little bit more pepper
than mine
but that's okay
somebody in the chat said
they ordered the hoodie tonight
that he was rocking
it is a nice hoodie
I will give him that
hmm
but yeah
defensively
know, there were some, there were some guys that showed up tonight.
And Tristan McCollum and Booker are at the top of the list.
Thomas Booker really, really jumped off the screen.
Well, how about the linebackers, Jamie?
Now, Zach Bonn, are you seeing it?
He started the game well, made a nice, nice play on that run tackle.
I think I was, I was keen in on Devin White more than I was him.
So again, I may have missed it, but, you know,
We'll see.
Nicobi Dean, I thought Flash.
I thought the Times tonight.
Just based off the TV copy, you know, you can't tell everything, obviously,
but I thought he played well tonight.
And listen, what you see with both Nicobi Dean and Nolan Smith is, like, those guys hustle.
You know that you're going to get that.
Like, those guys will fly around just by force of wanting to do everything that they can.
Like the play that Nicoby Dean made where he's blitzing and it is stopped while the
ball comes out and then two guys miss a tackle Bradbury among them and then Nicobi
Dean makes the tackle you know eight yards down the field or whatever after coming from
the backfield that's a that's a really nice display of like what you what you expect from
Nicopi Dean and then the Nolan Smith sack where he's going up against Vadarian Lowe who
is I believe it's supposed to be the left tackle for the Patriots even though it was the third
quarter and then he gets chipped and then is like that that chip unblocks him from
Vadarian Lowe when he loops inside and sacks the quarterback.
Like he's going to play hard.
It was the same thing we saw last week.
I don't know if, like, that stuff is going to work as a pass rusher against good teams and good offensive linemen.
But it gives you a floor, right?
Like you know that when he's out there, he's going to be trying hard.
and if it's for the fourth pass rusher, maybe that's enough.
But it was, you know, I don't think we should overreact to back-to-back sacks
in the third quarter of preseason games for Nolan Smith and think all of a sudden
like the light has turned on here.
But at least, at least you see those things showing up.
Like those guys are going to play hard.
Yeah, I don't think there's any doubt about that with Nolan.
He seems like a dude that loves football.
The one sack, even like the running back.
Chip almost helped him out and kind of threw him in the right lane to get the sack.
But you know, you see the speed.
You see the athleticism.
You see him and Hunt dropping back sometimes.
I think it's a really interesting combination to have, you know, Hunt and Smith with their hands out of the dirt combined with Dean and Trotter there.
That was something that was pretty interesting to have those kind of four athletes.
because Jeremiah Trotter Jr. is, I guess, a sneakier athlete than I gathered watching him at Clemson.
Like, instincts, yeah, but he's a little bit better of an athlete than I expected.
And Nacobie Dean made a couple nice plays tonight where, you know, there was a chase down.
So, you know, that package will see linebacker-wise if they ever, if White and Bonn, you know,
allow somebody to steal a job there.
but I think you feel good about the linebacker depth in particular.
You know, Nolan Smith and Hunt are going to be kind of like those hybrid jackknife
hands out of the dirt guys that appears mostly.
So you have a lot of athleticism there in the middle of the field.
Hopefully they can, you know, take advantage of that and utilize it in the proper ways.
And I think the good part about having Fangio here is you feel as though you're in good hands
with that type of stuff.
A lot of reports in the charts.
chat that ZB is dominant.
He's brilliant.
He's grilling.
He's a conference.
Yeah, he's grilling about the QBQI.
I mean, it is the story of the night, right?
When he comes up, he's going to have his chest way puffed out.
Oh, yeah.
No doubt about that.
Spadero shot it down, you know.
I do agree with you, though.
I agree that I think you can probably feel better about the top four linebackers that you did a season ago,
but that's not saying much at all.
Yeah.
I mean, Nicoby-Dee went from being the top linebacker to now three or four.
And I thought Trot Jr. was not quite as flashy tonight as he was a week ago.
Yeah, he didn't miss a couple tackles last week.
But I think that's okay.
He's in the right place.
And that's what you would expect from him.
That's the idea.
Yeah, and Alex S makes a good point in the chat.
You know, if Bond doesn't work out at linebacker, they might be able to move him the edge.
It's at least for some depth.
It's certainly possible.
So we'll say.
Up front, we mentioned Morrow Ojimo.
he was really impactful early in the game.
Did I hear in the broadcast that he graduated high school at 16?
He did.
That's correct.
Wow.
Is he a genius or what?
Or just young for his age?
Is he a young dude?
I think he was pushed early.
I think when his family immigrated,
immigrated.
I believe it's the part of the story.
But Zach will know.
He can give you the exact details.
All right, so Julia is asking, Bo, should we give this one more crack?
We can try, though I thought Nick was done.
Yeah, gave it a shot.
You know what?
It's a preseason for us, too.
If the goal, we're going to be ready for week one, that's the goal.
Yes.
We don't want to get anybody right now.
We don't want any injuries.
No.
And speaking of Rio, Bo, this is a good segue to just tell people,
we got a great event coming up.
And diehards can get a 20% discount because you're,
You're already a diehard, but for the Rio game, we'll be at the tradesman in Center City, Philadelphia.
$35 gets you three drinks.
Was that place named after Hallie Roseman?
Well, he is the most active in training camp of all the GMs in the league, right?
I wonder if there's going to be some activity this week.
But the tradesman, yeah, $35.
If you're a diehard, you get 20% all of that, get you three drinks, unlimited food buffet.
So hopefully some of you sickos and diehards can come out there and join us for the pre-examination.
game watch party on opening night.
So yeah.
What do you think on the activity meter for Howie?
Do you think we're going to distract you for a second?
No, I'm excited about that event.
You're going to be out there.
Yes, the event's going to be great.
But do you think, you think Howie's got to move up a sleeve before week one?
Absolutely.
I think wide receiver is a place to keep an eye on for sure.
I think offensive line is a possibility.
Okay.
Tight end is a possibility.
And I think that's probably about it.
All right.
Yeah, so the tradesman, Howie Roseman.
We'll see.
I'm curious what he's got up his sleeve.
Craig, can he pick it now?
And one way to, you know, make sure that nobody knows what you have up your sleeves.
You know, if it's like a poker game, for instance, what do you do to hide your intentions?
Poker face.
Put those shades on.
Ah.
Might as well be shady.
raise. Now, I have been rocking my Shady Rays, Jamie. I've told the story. I don't know if you have
been here when I went on my trip to Brazil this summer, left my shades at a restaurant. No big deal.
And they were like, you know, $10, $15 shades. I liked them, but no big deal. So I come home,
I fire up to Shady Rays code, ordered myself two pairs of Shady Rays. And when I did that,
they offer this other deal where it's like, oh, you spent this much money.
would you like to pay a very small amount for a mystery pair
for like a marked down.
So I now have three pairs of Shadyrays in my rotation.
And I'm loving them on.
What was the mystery box?
The mystery one was like aviators,
which, you know, that's not going to be my everyday go-to,
but like I leave it in the car.
If I forget my sunglasses, it's like...
Going to the wedding.
It looks good with a suit, maybe.
I've got a backup pair that I don't need to worry about.
Love it.
And I'm very happy with the Shady Rays.

That's your boy.
I love him.
I love a mystery box offer.
How do you not?
Oh, man, isn't that?
How can I pass that up?
Who's passing up the mystery box?
Yeah, I love that.
Oh, a mystery.
Yeah.
I was more excited to open the mystery than I was the ones that I actually ordered.
Yeah.
And if Bet365 Bo was to offer me a mystery parley for a $5, you know, a $5 wager, I'm in.
Because things are never ordinary over at Bet365.
They have 90 million users worldwide.
They stream over 780,000 events each year.

cashed out right then and there on the spot.
The final score does not matter.
It's irrelevant.
So at Bet365, they don't do ordinary.
They believe every sport should be epic.

and check out their boosts and see why.
It's never ordinary.
I bet 365 must be 21 or older and physically located in Pennsylvania.
If you or someone you know has a gambling problem and once help, call or text 1-800 gambler.
Now, Bo, I took my $150 bonus bets and I spread them out on some NFL future bets.
One of them is our own Jalen Hertz.
Touchdowns on the year.
21 and a half.
I took that over easy.
Passing or?
Passing,
yes.
Rushing.
Okay.
I like that, yeah.
Right.
If he can't get 22, what are we doing here?
The other ones I took, Bo Nix over 14 and a half,
Anthony Richardson over 17 and a half.
I took Joe Burrow plus 900 for MVP and a couple others.
I'm blanking on.
I don't dislike any of those except for,
I'm appalled that you were compelled to bet on Bo Nix.
I,
that is,
that is sick,
arranged behavior.
Well,
14 and a half.
I mean,
I'm just thinking he can do one a week.
He might play 25 games and not throw for 15 touchdown.
I,
I'm drinking the Kool-Aid of Broncos,
Twitter,
man.
I'm seeing our friends out in Denver.
They're getting hype.
They're getting irrational.
I saw the preseason game.
He must be given it.
You must give them.
Wow.
Oh, Nick.
Yeah.
Anthony Richardson's the one I like the most of those, by the way.
That's a fun one.
That's a fun one.
Yeah.
All right.
I think we might have Mr.
Berman himself coming on.
He says,
he texted me coming on now.
So let's,
okay.
I don't know if he meant in the Julio way,
but I expect to hear from Zach shortly.
And about all,
I want to hear all about this domination of the press conference.
Is this true?
Zeeby once almost took a job in Denver.
Somebody in the chat.
This is,
this is the,
when we took this job.
when we were at our old job, I had been needling Zach because he had been watching so much of the DNVR programming.
And so I kept teasing the fact that, oh, well, Zach is thinking about a job in Denver.
He's been watching a lot of, you know, nobody knows more about what's going on with the Broncos than he does.
And that's where that's where it comes.
Gotcha. Gotcha.
It's difficult to keep up with you, too, you know, doing a different show every day.
So some of these inside jokes, I'm out on the outside looking.
in. He's seen. He texted me. He said he's coming on now. I did watch you guys the other day
and found out about Robert Kraft being so cheap that there's no soap at Gillette. Yeah, what's up
with that? Now, there were, there was hand sanitizer outside the bathroom, but that's not the same
thing. No, I prefer the wash over the hand sanitizer. I mean, how about both? Yeah, I'll double
down. What are we doing? Yeah, come on, Robert. Outrageous, Robert.
flying out of there in your helicopter.
Give me a break.
Just looking through some of my other notes from the game.
Yeah, Ojimo early on.
Now, John Ross, who left the game with an injury,
I thought this was the best.
It was a concussion check?
Yeah, check for a concussion, I believe, is right.
I thought this was the best he's looked all summer.
You know, he ran by Christian Gonzalez,
who was a good young player.
But I still think it's an uphill battle for John Ross.
Gainwell had a couple of nice
Now Jalen Ringer had a nice play
What did you what did you think of Drake May Jamie
Since you're since you're
Oh Nick's fan
Yeah
He looked fine
You know
Athletic
Put a couple walls on the money
I thought
Yeah I thought so too
His one deep shot he took
I thought it was actually a completion
And I forget it was that it was that ringgo
No it was just Baker just dropped it
As he was going to the guy
That's what it was
Yeah it was a nice ball for him
May. I just thought of this and I don't want to not say it. The Eagles were jamming wide receivers
at the line. Is that, is that legal? Ah, don't get Zach. I did notice that. Don't make Zach
re-litigate Jonathan Gannon on this podcast. I am a, I am a staunch Jonathan Gannon
hater. I am the biggest hater east of the Mississippi. So let's open those floodgates up. But I did
notice that tonight because on that one play, Ringo jammed, got beat, May made the throw. Ringo
kind of caught up as he dropped it. But I did notice that Eagles cornerbacks were jamming at the
line of scrimmage tonight. That was, that was different. So the Vic Fangio effect, I know it's vanilla
and basic packages and all that, but you can already see the Vic Fangio difference, whether it ends
up being a good or bad difference, TBD, but, and good to see that. I like, I personally like watching a
wide receiver's life become more difficult in the first five yards.
The problem is you need cornerbacks and are then athletically gifted enough to catch up and
and stay with it.
And I think we actually have that now in a secondary.
Well, if you want to continue this relitigation, the defense calls to the stand, Mr.
Zach Berman himself.
Look at all.
Backdrop.
The backdrop is back in.
Wow.
Wow.
That comes from dominating the Siriani presser from what we can hear to dominating the backdrop.
The man is the man is hitting on all cylinders.
We thought you'd be puffing out your chest, Zach.
Let's see a little chest hair.
It's good to see you guys.
I'm excited to talk about the preseason game two.
I don't know why there's discussion about a defense coordinator from two years ago on the show.
But there's a lot to talk about with the defensive coordinator tonight in addition to the head coach tonight.
in addition to the quarterbacks tonight.
So eager to have this conversation.
It came up just because I noticed that the Eagles cornerbacks,
Keely Ringo in particular,
is quite physical off the line of scrimmage.
And it's a little bit of the Fangio, I guess, system that we're seeing
that he's allowing these guys to get physical
and bump wide receivers off the line.
I for one liked it.
So that's why it came up.
It wasn't complete nonsense.
All right.
Let's get to the matter of hand, Zach,
the thing that we all saw tonight,
Tanner McKee.
looking like an NFL quarterback, Kenny Pickett, less so.
I know that this was part of what you were asking Nick Siriani about.
What can you tell us?
Yeah, did you guys get a chance to hear Nick?
We did not.
Okay.
So I asked Nick point blank.
I said, is Tanner out playing Kenny?
Or I don't know.
Is he or did he?
But that was the framing of the question.
Okay.
Good question.
And he said, he said no.
he said they're both playing well.
He's happy to have them both on the team.
He said that he read the numbers for both of them.
He said in Pickett's case, there were some problems with the pressure in the running game that was kind of out of his hands, some stuff that they need to work on there.
But he's happy with the way they both played.
I said, is this a competition for this job?
And he said, he said, he said, Kenny's our number.
number two. Tanners are number three. So he made that clear. I asked a few other questions.
Do you believe him? Do I believe him? Yeah, I mean, I stand by what I've said. I think
week one, Kenny Pickett's going to be the number two quarterback and Tanner McKee's going to be the
designated third quarterback. I think if J.1 Hertz were to go down for six weeks, they have a
conversation to be had there. I think this is a, I think they're starting to be a little protesting.
too much, including on the broadcast at the end of the go. Yeah, Dave Spanaro. I think, listen,
you have seen it. This is not different than what we've seen all summer. Sure. McKee has looked
better, looked more decisive, throwing more accurate and catchable balls. We have also seen
increased over the course of the summer, Tanner McKee taking reps with the second team at the expense
of Kenny Pickett. Now, tonight was interesting because there was that little series where Will
Greer came in. Did Nick explain what? I asked, I asked Nick about that as well. What did they say?
So he said that that was their plan all along. And the reason being, because you can't control game
situations. And they wanted to get Greer time. And they didn't want to throw Greer into the game in like,
you know, a hurry up or like a four minute situation. So they decided that they're going to have Tanner come out of the half,
start the half, but then they're going to get Greer time in like a controlled setting and then put
McKee back in.
Interesting.
Okay.
Now, I'm curious to see what they do next week.
But I don't know.
Like, I don't think they're going to do,
they're not going to change up the order next week, I don't think.
But I think there is,
I think there's a, like, if anybody in the league comes calling for Kenny Pickett,
I think that they're willing to listen.
Okay.
And I just, as I said to Jamie, Zach, at the start of the show,
the players know.
Right? Like they see the same thing that we have seen, if not more.
They like they will understand it to an even higher degree.
Like if you think that A.J. Brown and Devante Smith are out of practice, you know, watching plays and watching film and meetings and thinking we'd rather have the worst quarterback.
You can't lie to the guys for for too long.
Yeah, I mean, I'm just telling you what Nick said, right?
You did a great job pushing him.
I'm glad you were there.
Yeah, but look, we all see this tonight.
And to me, it's the way the offense was moving, right?
Because you can say protection, you can say a running game, and it is true.
Kenny Pickett was playing against the Patriot starters, right?
So there are variables that you have to consider.
But you also go based on the results.
And you also have, you know, as you're referring to, with three-week sample size now,
You have two games.
And Kenny's not run away with this, right?
And if you didn't know which one was drafted in the first round and you traded a third round, you know, you didn't trade a third round pick for it.
You traded a third for a fourth.
But you trade draft capital for.
Then you wouldn't know that based on watching practice, right?
So I get all that.
I understand sunk cost fallacy if Professor Selman's watching.
but I also think that they operate with a wider lens sometimes.
You know, one thing that I know people in that building have said in the past,
and I remember this well,
if you and I and Jamie were having a conversation on August 15th, 2017,
you'd be concerned about Nick Foles.
And, you know, a player gets acclimated, a player,
there's a greater track record that they look at.
Now, of course, Kenny Folles, I'm sorry, Kenny Pickett doesn't come with Nick Foles's track record,
but they acquired Kenny because they like the player that he has starting experience
and that Tanner's a bit of an unknown here, right?
But I mean, Tanner McKee is Nick Foles 2.0.
Well, I mean, Nick Foles.
Tanner McKee is going to win two Super Bowl.
Nick Foles won the Super Bowl MVP.
Let's let's not go overboard here.
So, yeah, so what else?
There was a lot of, this was actually a juicy game from like some team nuggets that I thought.
Yeah.
So, Zach, Bo and I were just talking about it.
You brought it up, sunk cost fallacy.
Somebody in the chat said that's my second favorite fallacy.
But James Bradbury kind of falls in that category.
You're more or less paying the guy regardless.
My naked eye, he looked cooked out there tonight, some with tackle, some misplays.
Is he on the opening day, Ross?
at this point. Do you think, Jamie? Thank you.
Yeah. So, you know, spoke to James briefly. I wanted to run over to Bryce Huff.
So I was in for James, ran over to Bryce.
What?
This is funny.
You're running, the mental picture of you running.
Well, and it's a very tight lock. You know, the lot, to give, take the audience behind the scene.
I've been in those locker rooms, yeah.
These locker rooms are small as it is, but they're not built for 90 players, right?
So it's congested enough in the regular season when there's 50s.
53 guys. Now you, now you, I mean, it's not 2x, but, you know, like 1.75X or whatever it may be.
That's, it's a lot more players in there. And of course, Bryce Huff's locker was behind all the offensive linemen.
And the offensive linemen are known, like they take their space. They're not.
You really got to, yeah, you got to get off a block.
Yeah. And it's, it's not the type of setting where you're trying to like squeeze in somewhere, right?
you want to let people have have their space.
So I didn't navigate, but I departed from Bradbury.
I'm sorry for that detour in this conversation.
Bradbury.
I think this is your best backdrop.
I think this is the best backdrop you've ever done.
It looks like a green screen.
Oh, yeah, no, this is the field that they played on tonight.
Yeah, so I, you're on fire.
Bradbury said he needs game, you know,
He needs game work.
There's nothing that, like, simulates game work here.
You know, he's adjusting his position.
And I thought he's acclimated decently this summer.
I wrote that today.
I thought tonight was a step back.
It's also the second game that he's played at safety.
And playing a game is different.
We talk about this for defensive players in particular.
I disagreed with coaches on this in the past.
Fitting a tackle is not the same as tackling, right?
And so that's why being out there is important.
and yeah, I thought it was a step back.
To answer your question, Jamie.
So, yeah, like, is there learning, is there a learning curve there for him?
Well, so look, there's a numbers thing at play here too, right?
You know, Sydney Brown's going to be back at some point.
If he's back and Tristan McCollum, Zach, is showing up.
Sure.
James Bradbury, that contract, unless they trade him, they pay him the same amount,
whether he's on the team or whether he's not on the team.
So it's a decision howley-Rosman has, has, has,
to make there. They put them at safety for a reason. They didn't put them at safety just to kind of
run the clock out on four weeks here or six weeks here, right? They want to see what's there because
they need safety depth. That said tonight was a step back. Nick's really playing up these next
five days or these five days of practice. He hasn't said this. I imagine they'll be in the link
one of these days to try to simulate like a game setting. I think we're going to learn more about
the team over these next five days. They really
would, they, they want these days to be competitive.
So we'll see what happens. But
yeah, going into, your tone is not great for his chances.
Well, going into the summer, I said no. Going into tonight, I said yes.
After tonight, I'll probably say no again. And that's the beauty about the
preseason. You go back and forth.
You said you've got, you thought that there were a bunch of nuggets. Give us some
nuggets. Yeah. Well, so pregame,
Mackay Beckton not in uniform, Tyler Steen in uniform.
That's notable.
Nick Siriani said it doesn't do them any good to name a starter right now, right?
That they have a whole week of practice to go here.
There's a lot more that they need to look at.
I think as as Beau has said, and you know, you watch what they do and not what they say here.
Proper action, I appreciate that.
Yeah.
And watching what they do, Mackay Beckton's been in there.
Now going back to when Steen was hurt the first week, right?
So this has been three weeks, two plus weeks, of Mackay Beckton taking all the work.
Tyler Steen came back.
He's been second team.
For Beckton not to play tonight shows you or shows me and should show the audience,
this is not a competition anymore.
If it was a competition, one of them would be competing.
Mackay Beckton's not out there competing.
So I understand.
I respect Nick, like why he has to answer or why he feels he has to answer that way.
they showed us with their actions tonight.
Mackay Beckton is going to be the starting right guard.
Tyler Steen, any update on his injury there, Zach?
Yeah, Nick didn't meet with the medical people.
I did see Tyler leave the locker room.
I tried to ask him, you know, it was outside.
So we have to wait a certain period before we can go inside.
A lot of guys had left.
Tyler being one of them.
I shouted out, Tyler, how's the ankle?
I did not get a response.
That's okay.
maybe he didn't hear me.
But no walking boot or crutches or anything.
He was walking fine.
He was walking fine.
I thought, so the other nugget here,
I thought it was fascinating from my vantage point tonight that Bryce Huff was playing.
And he was the only one on the front five, the starting front five that was playing.
17 plus million dollar edge rusher, ostensibly your top edge rusher for him to be playing.
and for J. Juan Carter, Milton Williams, Jordan Davis, Josh Swett, these guys are not playing, right?
That stood out to me. I didn't know, are they sending a message to him, right?
I didn't know if it's there's things they need to see from him.
I spoke to Bryce after the game. I asked him a few times about why. He needed a real good explanation.
He said, Vic talked him about this, explain this because he's new to the team.
They wanted to give him a little more work. Nick said, Nick even volunteers.
this. It was on my list of things to ask Nick. I asked Nick like four things. I didn't ask this because he answered it. He said that you saw Bryce Huff out there. He saw Devin White out there. He saw Zach Bonn out there. You saw some of their new players out there for this. Like they wanted to play the guys who were new gear to kind of get them acclimated to. It's a new defense for everyone, but it's new teammates for all of those guys. So that explanation did add up. I thought Huff.
played well against the run, man.
I mean, he had, he played 12 snaps, I believe.
I have to go back and look.
But he was, it was, unless he came off the field,
there was 12 offensive plays when he was on.
Four tackles, yeah.
Yeah, he had four tackles.
He was penetrating.
He was physical.
He shed a really nice block from a tight end,
like, and manhandled a guy.
Yeah, he said he's been working at this.
And it follows up a day of practice,
Bo observed it,
Beau wrote about it,
both talked about on the show,
that he had a real strong practice.
And I asked him about that.
And, yeah, he felt real good about the way he played.
He said, you know, he didn't want to put it on as far as like not playing against Lane.
But he says the lane does make you better, right?
And clearly there's a difference when you're not facing Lane Johnson.
I think if you're an Eagles fan, which I imagine anyone watching this at 1108 right now as an Eagles fan,
unless they just love Bo and Jamie, which there's nothing wrong with that either.
I think it's a sex appeal.
Yeah.
A lot of people are saying this is the sexiest postgame show in the country.
Well, how many postgame shows are there right now?
You know, so it's like, might be the least sexiest too, right?
I don't care of you.
But, yeah, I think going into New England this week, you probably said I might have some concerns about Bryce off, right?
And you're leaving your feeling better about Bryce off.
That's a positive.
If we're doing, you know, if my son and my daughter see me tomorrow and they say,
what'd you learn in New England?
I said, I learned about Bryce Huff this week, right?
Bryce Huff had a good week, strong week.
I know what else Reid is going to ask you about,
and you know what's coming.
Did you have a chance to talk to Quinea Mitchell in the locker room?
I did speak to Quignan.
About practice, about the game, about what he learned from week one and week two,
and then very sheepishly, as I was, I walked away, turned her out.
By the way, Quinyon, I have a seven-year-old son.
Really?
You wanted me to tell you that he had a pick six with you and Madden.
And I said it really fast that he might not even have heard me because I felt I was really like,
You didn't get a reaction?
I did get a reaction.
And what did he say?
He said, oh, tell him I appreciate that.
All right.
All right, quinion.
Yeah.
Read, read, read, read, read, read, read.
But yeah, I mean, it's the least I can do for not being around my son this week.
Yeah.
That's fantastic.
What did it feel like to dominate the press conference?
Well, first of, I didn't dominate the press conference number one.
But no, I told on the chat that Nick was, Nick was, was like calling you out for
for dominating the press.
Are asking a lot of questions?
Yeah.
Well, I mean, look, I, I allow it for a pause for other people to get in.
But when that pause was unfulfilled, I had, where's my notebook?
I had questions, man.
I had questions I had to get into.
So, and I'll be honest, I didn't spend four days away from my family to sit on my hands and he clam chowder.
I came here to get information about the Eagles.
You know, there's one of me here.
I have a decision.
Leave the locker room, you know, stay in the locker room.
I try to get Joseph and Gata because A.J. Brown said, I hope AJ doesn't mind me saying this,
Hey, J. Brown walked by as he was leaving, said Engada was the MVP, right?
Or the player of the game or something like that.
I wanted to talk to Angada.
Those guys were fired up on the sidelines.
There were other guys that I wanted to speak to.
But I felt this was an important night to talk to Nick for I have to write,
but also I knew I'm coming on in this show.
And I needed to get, I need that there were questions from this.
This wasn't one of these Nick games where it's just like, you know, tell me your feelings on this,
telling your feelings on this.
You want to try to get information about some of these things.
And so I'm trying to get that from Nick.
So, yeah.
So I wouldn't say I was being aggressive.
I was saying I was trying to do my job, you know?
I mean, I'm filing an expense report to Vince when I get home.
I need to make sure he's getting his money's worth with this trip.
Zach, the people are saying that, you know, you had the year of the creative heater.
That is gone.
It is now the year of the reporting heater.
Silver back of the press room.
Look, I'm excited.
We have a full year now of PHLI.
We started, you know, this is a little melancholy, or I shouldn't even say melancholy, coming here, this was like the, this was right before we started PHI.
This was our last day on the old job.
Yeah, exactly.
And, you know, you start week two.
You're trying to like process the previous game while start this new job.
While, you know, there's a lot going on.
It's 9-11.
What's that?
It's 9-11.
You're trying to get your, you know, you don't even have a key to the new building.
You haven't met everyone yet and you're doing a show the next day, right?
So you don't really get a chance to sit down and prepare for the show.
Now here we are going into our first full year.
We got a chance to like, you know, put, you know, to build this thing.
So, yeah, me being at these games, that's a big part of it.
And I'm getting ready for Brazil, man.
So, Zach, you brought up a name I wanted to ask you about.
E.J. Jenkins and got a kind of shine tonight.
Yeah. Chances opening day.
What do you think?
Is Jenkins have a legit shot at tight end three here?
And what do you think about in Gata?
I think E.J. Jenkins has been the third best tight end on the roster this year.
Does he have a chance?
So it really depends what they're looking for there.
It depends if they, if E.J. Jenkins is a guy, they want to try to keep on practice squad and elevate.
If C.J. Uzama, they value the blocking, the size, the experience.
maybe they don't want to guarantee
you Zama's contract. Maybe they just go
with two tight ends on the initial
53 and then see what's out there on the wire
and then determine it. I don't think
E.J. Jenkins has helped himself
and I think next week will also be a big
E.J. Jenkins game.
But there's two tight ends
so I know what will be on the roster. Okay?
Grant Calcuttaire and Dallas Gotter.
I should say Dallas Gotter and Grand Calcutterra.
That third,
that's wide open right now.
As far as Joseph and Gata, I don't think Joseph and Gata
it makes the 53.
I can see him being on practice squad again.
I thought that, yeah, yeah, I thought he did some nice things tonight.
I don't think he's, like, shined throughout camp.
And what the Eagles do to this point.
So I saw in the press box before the game, I saw Johnny Wilson walk through with the team security official.
I said, that's kind of weird.
This was like two hours before the game when the team just got here.
Once he trying to get a hot dog or something?
Yeah, I don't know.
You know, what's going on?
And then I'm watching pregame warrants and I don't see Johnny Wilson out there.
So I try, I do some digging and then I find out that he was in the concussion protocol.
And then I guess Ross said, Ross Tucker said it on the broadcast.
The team announced if they're after.
So yeah, so Johnny Wilson, now he's going to miss some time.
We don't know how long that's going to last.
Paris Camel comes back this week.
Bo and I did the exercise of 10 receivers they could trade for or like 10 potential
trades and we'll see what happens.
But to answer your question, I don't think Joseph and God, it makes the 53, but I think
he'll be on the 16 to 16 man practice squad.
A couple little small ones for you, Zach.
What did you make of Kili Ringo playing deeper into this game than not only Isaiah
Rogers, but also Quinnian Mitchell?
Yeah, surprise me a bit.
I think if I go based on the first guy up, this past two weeks, I would say,
say Isaiah Rogers is ahead of Keighley Ringo.
I think Isaiah Rogers needs work, right?
He didn't play all year last year.
But yeah, that did surprise me some.
Maybe they wanted to give Ringo a little more work.
It's a good, it's a good point.
Coyon, I think they have a good sense of what Coyon is right now.
And I actually, I'd be skeptical that Coyne on plays next week.
I think I'd probably agree with that.
It seemed to us from the TV copy that Nicopi Dean had a pretty good night.
Is that what you saw from the press box?
Yeah, that is.
And I actually, I didn't think Trotter had as good of a game as he had the first time.
There were a few, you know, there's a play when he penetrated and then, you know,
there is a cleanup tackle, but I thought it was Trotter that made the play.
I thought Dean was probably the better of the linebackers tonight.
And I actually thought, you know, Bo watched the defense more than I did.
But when I was glancing over, right, I'm talking about the practice on Tuesday.
I thought Dean played decently, played and played well on Tuesday, too, from what I saw.
So I'm not counting Dean out of this competition yet for the starting linebacker job.
I think if you just go based on what you see in terms of reps, you're going with Bonn,
but I'm not counting Dean out yet.
Any other big takeaways from what you saw just from your own vantage point?
Yeah, I thought the defense was active.
I mean, the Patriots aren't particularly good.
We know that.
There still be some protection things.
It was interesting.
Nick was asked about a player
was really taking a step up year one to year two
or not year one to year two
from last year or this year.
And he's singleed off Fred Johnson.
He's real happy with the way Fred Johnson looks.
Yeah, so that's a good little nugget.
Are you taking anything out of Nolan Smith tonight, Zach?
I know we got the kind of weakish penalty.
I thought that let,
well, yeah, that personal foul,
that wasn't the smartest play.
But I thought his sack was really nice.
I thought he closed well on his sack.
And the sack last week,
Vic Fangio even said it.
It was like there was no one on him.
He kind of went through.
I thought tonight was a sack that he earned.
I thought he did a good job there.
And Avanti Maddox, by the way, I thought Avanti's interception was an impressive one.
Really nice.
Very nice play.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And I think, I think, as Jamie and I said, stood a little bit in contrast to what you saw from Bradbury tonight.
Sure.
We'll keep an eye on all of that.
As the days go on, Zach, give us the, for the people who don't know, give us the schedule that's coming up for the Eagles, those, those, this five days that you just teased.
Yeah.
Eagles are on their way back tonight.
They'll land probably by the time I leave the stadium tonight.
And they are, they're off tomorrow.
Bow and I are not off tomorrow.
We have a show at 2 o'clock.
You can watch the P.HL.Y. Eagles show.
And then on Saturday, Sunday, the Eagles are back at practice.
I'm sorry, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, the Eagles are back at practice.
Tuesday, they are off.
Wednesday, Thursday, practicing.
I'm a little surprised they have five practices this week.
I thought there might be four practices with a walkthrough and a day off in there.
This is a busier week than they've kind of had in the past at this juncture.
Nick's, I think Nick wants to take a lot out of this week.
He keeps emphasizing, like I mentioned, having a competitive practice,
having a practice, you know, where they kind of work on game situations.
So I can see them being in the stadium.
I can see it almost like a scrimmage.
But to answer the question succinctly, they're back at work on Saturday.
and, you know, we'll be there having all the updates.
And what will you be writing tonight for all p.hly.com?
Kind of what we talked about, some of the, I think, what people want to know,
explanations on the quarterback, explanations on the guard situation,
explanations on Bryceoff.
I'm not getting as much into kind of like the down the rock.
I think tonight's a night where there's kind of like top of the, you know,
there's bigger picture questions that if you didn't watch next press conference
or if you weren't in the locker room, which obviously most people weren't,
some questions I can answer from that.
So that's going to be, it's going to hit on the big topics, like five takeaways from tonight.
All right.
Well, Zach Berman, you have dominated again.
We thank you for all of your expertise and your information, your ears to the grindstone,
all that good stuff.
Good luck tonight.
We will talk to you tomorrow on the PHO-Ego show at 2 o'clock.
Look forward to it.
guys.
Thank you, John.
Zach.
What a performance.
It's the silverback
of the press for man.
I mean,
it's regular season for him.
He doesn't need any free season.
He's hitting on all cylinders.
Yeah.
Man,
just,
you know,
he gave everyone an opportunity to jump in.
They didn't jump in
and get off the tracks.
The Z.
Berms is coming through.
All right,
Jamie.
Let's wrap this bad boy up.
Do you think that we will remember
tonight as the night
that Tanner McKee
became the Eagles backup quarterback?
Yes.
I don't know.
You got to shop him, right?
Not that he's going to get you much,
but like just make your life easier and get him out of here.
I think it's,
I would think it's more likely that they keep him and wait around
and maybe see if somebody needs to be ready for some injuries.
I don't think that that's impossible.
Yeah,
but I think we know,
I think the players know,
I think in their heart of hearts,
the coaches and how we know,
Tanner McKee is deserving of the QB2 spot.
I agree.
And I guess that'll do it for the PHLY Eagles post-game show.
Another win for the just smoking hot Philadelphia Eagles,
undefeated in the preseason with a 14 to 13 victory on the road against the New England Patriots.
We will be back tomorrow at 2 o'clock with the PHLY Eagles show, Zach and myself,
You've got the Anthony Gargano show in the morning at 9 o'clock.
I'm actually, I am actually off Friday and Monday.
The misses is going back to the school year on Tuesday.
All right.
So we're cramming in a little last week in a summer with the girls and doing a Phillies game.
The girls are going to Folk Fest on Saturday with Julia.
Sunday, we're going to a little Lakewood Blue Clause Philly Minor League game and a night at the shore.
Monday at the shore with the family.
and then I will be back on Tuesday.
But yes, Phillies tomorrow at 11 and again on 11 on Monday.
So check them out because the Phillies are back.
Fantastic.
Yeah.
I know.
I can't believe summer's here.
We're 22 days away from NFL starting.
It's good stuff.
Good time of the year.
Good time of the year.
Indeed.
All right.
That'll do it for the post game show.
Thanks to everybody for watching and listening.
Make sure that you hit the like button.
Subscribe, all that good stuff.
Evangelize.
Spread the word.
and we will talk to you tomorrow at 2 o'clock.
Thank you, Julia.
We will talk to you tomorrow.
And as always, we love you.
