Starting point is 00:00:06 Hello, everybody, and welcome to the P.H.O.I. Eagles podcast on a Thursday, 2 p.m. Bo Wolf, Zach Berman, the Eagles, a practice tonight at The Link. Open for the only time this summer for you lay people. That's at 6.30 p.m. ahead of that. Zach and I doing our little check-in on our 53-man roster is how things stand through the first week of camp, where our positions, where our spots there to be one, who has moved the needle, who's in, who's out, all that good stuff. But, Zach, I got to say. You know, yesterday you did the, the, the, the, the H. H.L.Y. Sixer show with Derek Podner, who was to know that this was the day when the biggest Eagles news would be basketball related. Biggest Eagles news is basketball related. Yesterday. Enlightened me. What was, what biggest piece of course? The CJ Garner Johnson shot to cancel movies. Come on.
Starting point is 00:01:01 Yes, I did see that. Okay. I was, I was curious where you're going with that. Yeah. A good shot by C.J. Garner Johnson. Someone screamed out Kobe and certainly clutch like Kobe are there. Okay. Yeah, they get out of meetings.
Starting point is 00:01:19 I was not prepared. I can assess his jump shot if you want. It's a slope in that auditorium. So it's actually, it can be difficult sometimes to shoot in there. You're not on level ground. All right. There's a lot at stake. there. It's a high pressure shot. Okay. Um, but he was the one thing about C.J.
Starting point is 00:01:44 Gardner Johnson is, well, there's many things about C.J. Garter Johnson, but one thing about CJ Gardner Johnson is he is supremely confident, right? Yeah. It reminds me, it, I think of Jaylon Mills. Jalen Mills was a similar way. And there was a story. I thought of me wired that way as a DB, right? Yeah, there's a story I like to tell about Jalen Mills. I was doing a, I was interviewing him for a story I was working on about him. I spoke to people around him, his family. But I remember asking Jalen, do you remember a time when you were like anxious or nervous or like felt uncomfortable about something? And he, he stopped and he thought and he said the fourth grade.
Starting point is 00:02:30 And it was like it was so illuminating to me because like he's so confident that he can remember the last time he was not confident and i must say i'm playing what he was not confident about in fourth grade yeah it was it was uh there were there was a pair he his shoes were were old model shoes or along that ilk and and there were other kids in his class who had new shoes and he felt um i don't want to put words in his in his mouth it's been it was 2016 when i I wrote that 2000. So, but, but, but that was the last time he, he didn't kind of have like the overflowing confidence.
Starting point is 00:03:18 And yeah, it's, it's, it's, it's a great attribute. I think of, you know, Jay one hurts. So there was an interview, maybe I forget which, uh, person he, he, he said it to or which magazine. And he was, he was talking about, um, it was about clothing. And he said, I'd make it look good. Right? Whatever I wear him is. And I'm like, that's, that's a good way of thinking. It's a healthy way of thinking. All right. Well, there you go. A very nice super chat from Chris, who says, shout out to Zach and Bo just got out of a five-year relationship. And this pod has helped me feel less alone, go birds.
Starting point is 00:03:58 Happy to have you with us, Chris. I think people worried that Zach and I are beginning to end a five-year relationship. Chris, I'm sorry about your, the relationship ending. I am not if it was on his volition, not if he thinks it's for the best long term. It can still still hurt, you know. I'm still sorry about it. It doesn't mean it might not be the best thing, but you invest your time and note, but better days are ahead. Line or step back for a major comeback. You know, this two shall pass.
Starting point is 00:04:26 That's a piece of advice that could that could go, that could apply to anything. is too fast. There's plenty of men who count but none too much in the sea. Yeah, that is not applicable here. But Chris, I appreciate you watching. Thank you very much. All right.
Starting point is 00:04:46 Zach, let's get into this 53-man roster. Now, I approach this a little bit differently than I would have like entering training camp. To me, I think this is an interesting exercise, not as a projection for week one. This would not be
Starting point is 00:05:01 the roster that I would submit if I was predicting what the week one roster is going to look like in a month, I'm looking at this as if the season ended today or if the summer ended today and they had to make a roster tomorrow, what would it look like? And so there are a few things where, for instance, like, I don't know if Anaya Smith is going to improve over the course of the summer, but if the summer plays out like it has over the first week of the season, I would not have Anaya Smith on the roster. So just a little bit of a distinction in the way that I went about this today. I don't know how you did it.
Starting point is 00:05:35 Yeah, mine's forecasting it the way I would if the season were to begin tomorrow. So you take in draft pedigree, right? If I was doing it just simply based on what I've seen in camp, I would not put Anaya Smith on it. But I still think they would lean toward keeping their fifth round pick, although they cut Nate Gary at one point. He was a fifth round pick. They've cut a number of, or I should say it. cut Clayton Thorson. He was a fifth round pick.
Starting point is 00:06:01 So it's certainly not unprecedented. And the other thing is preseason games have a lot to deal with this, of course. You hate to frame it this way. There are going to be injuries, right? I always think back to it was the night before, cut down day after the fourth preseason game in 2014. And I was out with some friends of Julie. is at the uh the uh
Starting point is 00:06:30 the south street beer garden and i receive a text about Travis Long tearing his ACL and it's like hey just the heads up Travis Long tore his ACL and I'm thinking man this is this has serious roster implications and little did I know the implications that it had the butterfly effect helped eagles win the Super Bowl Brandon Graham would have been cut brandon graham stays on the team a few years later brandy graham has
Starting point is 00:06:58 the strip sack to clinch the Super Bowl. And a few years after that, Brandon Graham's still playing year 15 and a Philadelphia icon. So it's a roundabout way of saying injuries are going to happen. Amen. All right. Who do you got a quarterback sack? I would not punctuate that with amen.
Starting point is 00:07:19 A man will get injured, though. Not too much, hopefully. Jenny, I'm sorry, Jalen Hertz, Kenny Pickett. Kenny Pickett, Tanner McKee are my three quarterbacks. This is fairly obvious. Will Greer is cut in this scenario. Are you going to ask Howard Rosman for the pleasure of cutting Will Greer since you're so anti-Will Greer? Well, first of all, I take no pleasure in anyone losing their job.
Starting point is 00:07:46 I mean, if I was a football coach, I think they're contractually obligated to say this, but it is a genuine sentiment. It's probably the worst part of the job, right? is cutting somebody. So, you know, I would take no pleasure in that. But I also think that players know the rules of engagement. And I can't imagine Will Greer is expecting to make the 53-man roster right now. Do you believe them?
Starting point is 00:08:12 Do you believe that they think it's the worst part of the job? Worse than like answering questions after in the middle of like a five-game losing streak? Yeah, no, I do think that. Now, the worst part of the job is when they're the ones getting. Yeah. You know, like I have said this to someone before and like, oh, they're like, God, you know, it was so tough. I hated that. I was like, it's probably tougher for the person getting cut, right?
Starting point is 00:08:41 But it is, I can't imagine it's an enjoyable part of the job. I believe it for most. Like, I believe that Nick Siriani probably views it as the worst part of the job. I don't believe that, like, Bill Belichick thinks that cutting people is the worst part of his job. And why do you say that? Because he probably loves to cut people. Based upon he, you think he loves to cut people. You think like you're invested in this.
Starting point is 00:09:10 You see these guys every day. This is a childhood dream. Some of these players will never play football again. There is absolutely a subset of Hardo coach who does not care about cutting people. Yes. It's a, it's a, it's a, it's a part of the process to getting your best roster. I disagree. I think they might be desensitized to maybe the emotion of it.
Starting point is 00:09:34 But I need to imagine that anybody who is around someone working as hard as these players do, trying to achieve a dream decades in the making. And like I said, some of them will never play football again. And you're the one who's bearing this news to them. I don't think anybody enjoys that. I, you would need to lack all type of humanity. Correct. To enjoy that.
Starting point is 00:10:06 And I, I don't think that just because someone's gruff in a press conference doesn't mean they lack humanity. You know, I, yeah, I have a hard time thinking someone enjoys cutdowns. I think, I think you're being a little naive if you don't think that any football coaches lack. a little bit of humanity. I would argue I'm not the one being naive here, but, uh, Oh, what about me being naive about? What are you being naive about? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:37 I think you are dehumanizing these coaches. Yeah, I, I think. And like, again, there's a difference between being desensitized to it and enjoying it. Now, they, they might not be- saying it's his favorite part of the job. But I think if, if there's a guy who, if there's a guy who, who Bill Belichick thinks has been dogging it all summer. Okay.
Starting point is 00:10:59 Like, I don't think that he's like losing sleep over cutting that guy. Sure, that guy in particular. But I think the overall action, like getting the Ross is a guy who writes fan letters to someone who's most known for firing people. I mean, I'm not going to get into like that's, that's his business, whatever that is. I think from a, a football, being around these football players. or seeing what they invest in this job, seeing how much this means to them.
Starting point is 00:11:33 You know, you watch Hard Knocks and like it's, I can't, I know, perhaps I'm being a show for coaches here. I don't think, I think that that you can say they lack humanity. I don't think they are, you know, devout of humanity, right? Okay. This is one of our sillier more. Yeah, I would say so. But yeah, I don't believe it.
Starting point is 00:12:01 It's the worst thing for everybody. By the way, this started because you said, are you going to ask the cut Will Greer? That's how this started. You just want to, if you want to know what took us on how we got from A to Z, it was because I was telling you, though, Will Greer is going to be cut.
Starting point is 00:12:18 Literally, a conversation that on any Eagles podcast, I know we're differentiating ourselves would take 13 seconds. And then you say, do you want to cut Will Greer yourself? Yeah. That's the special sauce. Yes. Yeah. Jilline Hertz, Tanner McKee, Kenny Pickett.
Starting point is 00:12:36 No doubt about that. I do, if there's going to be any change here, I think the only thing that could change aside from injury would be a Kenny Pickett trade. And I don't expect that to happen, but that's the only thing that I think would change this calculation. Sure. Great. Running back.
Starting point is 00:12:52 Isaac, I have the same three. we've expected for most of the time. Sequin Barclay, Will Shipley, Kenny Gainwell. But I will say I have been impressed with Lou Nichols over the past couple days. If someone is going to sneak on the roster, I would tilt more towards Lou Nichols than Tyrion Davis Price at this point.
Starting point is 00:13:14 So I have the same three that you do. I wanted to like Tyrion Davis Price. I actually think he runs the ball hard. He can't catch or he's not catching. And that has been problematic there. Kendall Milton haven't seen enough yet to make a strong opinion one way or the other. These guys are going to get work in the preseason. We'll get a better sense then.
Starting point is 00:13:38 But yeah, I would be surprised if the Eagles kept four backs unless they kept one expressly for special teams. Yeah. Do you think they're going to be in the market for a fourth running back? Do you think that this is something they would like to identify on the waiver wire potentially? Or do you think they're comfortable with three? I would imagine they are comfortable with three, especially because Will Shipley helps you on special teams. You know, you know he's going to return.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Sure. If you've got Chipley, you can probably only carry like 45 guys on the roster. He's good for like nine spots. Well, he is a personal player. Practice squad allows, as we know, elevations. And I could be wrong. I don't know if Lou Nichols is going to be like that hotly contested on the waiver wire. I would imagine they can have him on practice squad and elevate him if needed.
Starting point is 00:14:30 But it's notable that they don't have, I mean, Gainwell and Shipley are both undersized players. They don't have somebody behind Sequin Barclay who is a bigger body type. So I think if they were looking for somebody, it would be somebody like that. That's fair. Although, you know, I was talking to Jamal Singleton about this the other day. And I asked if they're going to have the rotation that they're, they've had in the past. They kind of gave coach speak.
Starting point is 00:14:58 But my answer for this, if I can be the translator, they didn't pay Sequin Barclay, $13 million a year to be on the sideline. Seekoine Barclay is going to play more than the running backs they've had here in the past. But if Sequan goes down, they certainly need a third back up there. Did they pay Sequin Barclay to retweet anti-trans propaganda? I did not see that he did that. Contract, okay. Just wondering if that was part of what they paid them for. Okay, we both got three running backs.
Starting point is 00:15:34 I've been transcribing today. That one was way over my head. I don't know if it's something I was supposed to know, but yeah, I don't know what you're referring to. Okay, let's talk about the wide receivers, Zach. And I think one of the more interesting roster battles that we have here, obviously, A.J. Brown and Devante Smith are on this roster. I think we probably both agree that Britain Covey is relatively safely on, given his quality as a returner. And then you're wondering, is it two spots or three spots for the rest of these guys? And is somebody going to grab the mantle as wide receiver three?
Starting point is 00:16:09 For me, I have Paris Campbell on and I have Johnny Wilson on. And right now, that's it. I do not have Anaya Smith on the roster at the moment. I think if you were asking me to project if he's going to be on the roster eventually, I would lean towards yes, but it would be like 52 turkeys to 48. But right now, as a reflection of how things are going, I do not think that he would be on the roster if they were making decisions tomorrow. That's interesting.
Starting point is 00:16:38 I have him on my 53, not by merit, but by draft status. I have A.J. Brown, DeFonte Smith, Britton Covey, Paris Campbell, Anaya Smith, Johnny Wilson. I'm not convinced that Britain Covey has this sign sealed and then deliver. I would keep written covey. I think that Britain Covey, what he's shown in the return game, he's shown promise as a pass catcher before, but especially this training camp.
Starting point is 00:17:04 It's something that I've been reading people saying he's having like a great camp as a receiver. That's not exactly what I have seen. Yes, Saturday's practice, I thought was a really good Britain Covey practice. Okay. That was one I didn't see. But I, yeah, I mean, I think it's a little bit of a stretch. Like sometimes, look, I'm far from an astute practice observer. I think I'm like a decent practice observer.
Starting point is 00:17:28 But no, it's not like the best part of my game. But I think sometimes past catchers can be high. Like if you make the catch, it seems like you're having a big day, right? In a passing camp type situation. Not to take anything away from Britten Covey. I thought he had a real good rep against Tyler Hall in one-on-ones two days ago. and he said he's been watching Cole Beasley. He's watching a lot of Cole Beasley this offseason.
Starting point is 00:17:59 He had a funny quote, like it doesn't do him any good to watch D.K. Maccalf. Like he can't learn anything from D.K. Metcalfe, right? It's like what John Ross said about A.J. Brown, right? Yeah, exactly. But speaking of John Ross, that was a great segue by an outstanding host. John Ross, I don't have all my 53 right now, but I am intrigued by John And I think that he's, I like the way he's played this summer.
Starting point is 00:18:26 Well, I should have meant that. I like the way he's run this summer. And he still is fast. I think that in one-on-ones in particular the other day, I liked what he showed. The fact that he's getting work with the ones, I don't think is by accident here. I don't have him on my 53 at the moment. But I do think he is a player to watch. And I also think just in terms of the game theory of it, I mean, he was a tri-out player in the spring, unless he has a monster preseason.
Starting point is 00:19:01 I think you would feel pretty comfortable that he's going to slide through to the practice squad. And he's actually a perfect practice squad player because his speed is going to play as, you know, get you ready for the next week's opponent. He can be the speed guy. And if you want to elevate him and have him be a bit part of the offense, you can do that too. it's unfortunate that like that's his status as a veteran for him but i think i think he's much more suited for a practice squad spot than an active roster spot do you think that this is six no matter what i've only got five or i'm sorry do you think that um they'll they'll try to keep six like like do you think they'll bring in someone from the outside when i say six no matter what
Starting point is 00:19:43 No. Because you have them late at running back wide receiver, three backs, five. And tight end. I'm going to have. I'm only going to have three tight ends. Interesting. I think, I just think, I don't know that it's a, I don't think it's a number preference. I don't think it's, they care what the number is, but I think they're definitely going to want to bring in receivers here.
Starting point is 00:20:06 And like, you know, Paris Campbell has had a few nice moments. Jalen Hertz early on was willing to throw him the ball in team periods. that's maybe the most notable thing. But I do think long term, this is where, you know, when we had the conversation about should Sidney Brown be playing in September because it's going to look, you know, the December Eagles are going to be more suited. I think a lot of the young guys this year are not necessarily in that situation. Like, I don't think that Queenie and Mitchell needs to be on the field because they have other
Starting point is 00:20:36 young guy options, right? But I actually do think that unless they're trading for somebody or adding somebody, I would like to see Johnny Wilson getting more work with the ones right now just to build that rapport with Jalen Hertz. I think he's the likeliest candidate to work his way into that rotation come midseason. So I would like to see a little bit more of that happening. But I also can't say that he has earned that opportunity through the first week of the season. He's not the most dynamic guy.
Starting point is 00:21:05 He looks like a tight end out there. But I think that he brings more to the table than the other options. And I'll continue with the announcement. analysis that this is real expert type stuff here they can't afford a j brown defa fonte smith going down they just don't have they don't have depth there they don't have numbers there i understand the counter is no team can afford like an all pro going down but some years you're better position than other years i know nick syriani said uh earlier the this this week last weekend i forget specifically when it was that this is the best group of fight from one to 13
Starting point is 00:21:40 that he's ever had. I have a hard time believing Nixiriani on that. I don't think this is, I've seen, in my 13 years, I've seen better ones to 13s, and I haven't seen a better top of the receiving court. Yeah, I think that's fair. You could even call AJ Brown and Devante Smith the two aces on the outside, Zach. The two aces on the outside. Am I reading this or do you want to?

Starting point is 00:25:23 than it it typically would be typically we'd be a practice in the morning talking to players in the afternoon um because it's a night practice these guys are meeting virtually i think lane johnson and maybe a j brown janet hans jrts uh the number of guys are coming through but But if anything is said that is pertinent to you, we will tell you on tomorrow's show. Starting point is 00:25:59 That's right. Okay, tight end. Who do you got, Zach? My tight ends are. Well, this is obvious. Dallas got her. Grant Calcutterra. Actually, it's not obvious.
Starting point is 00:26:10 I have CJ Usama. CJ Usama hasn't necessarily blown the doors off here in terms of like they need to keep him. But Albert O hasn't either. E.J. Jenkins made a few nice catches, but I don't have them keeping E.J. Jenkins. McCallon Castles, I know there's some McCallon Castle's buzz in the media core. It's not palpable yet, but it's that's the thing about a buzz is it starts. and then, you know, you start to hear that B around you, and then all of a sudden it's like swarming, right?
Starting point is 00:26:44 So you get stung, yeah. Yeah, so McCowan Castles, there is some buzz there. I have once, actually. Only once. What happened? How about you? I think a couple times, three times or so. I remember the first time I got stung by B.
Starting point is 00:26:58 I was maybe like six years old, and I fell off my chair at a restaurant. That's the memory in my head. When you think of bee stings, what do you think of? When I think of B-stings, what do I think of? The movie where McCauley Cullin dies? Yes. Yeah, that's exactly what I think of.
Starting point is 00:27:18 Yeah, the end of that movie when he gets stung. Yeah. What is that? My Girl? Is that what it's called? Maybe so. Do, do, do, do, do. Yeah, it is my girl.
Starting point is 00:27:30 Yeah, so who are your three or four? Yeah, I've got Dallas Gotter. And I'm curious. I was talking about this. on the morning show this morning with cousin VG about Dallas got it. So I'm curious to hear your expectations. But I've got Grant Calcutera. And then right now I do not have CJ Usama on the team.
Starting point is 00:27:50 He hasn't done enough to earn that roster spot. Maybe they eventually keep him. Right now, now this is the distinction between right now versus their projection. If I was, if I'm guessing who is going to make the roster right now, I think I would put McAllen Castles on it. I think the Eagles would like to keep the streak of, you know, one undrafted guy. He would be the one. There's a bit of a, you know, a bit of a stole to him. You get the, you get the four years of cost control. But right now, the one who I think has earned it and has done more. I got E.J. Jenkins on my, you know, August 2nd, 53-man roster. I think he has
Starting point is 00:28:26 looked good. He's got a nice rapport with, with Tanner McKee. And I think he's made plays dating back to the spring. So I'm giving a little shout out to E.J. Jenkins for right now. I'm going to have my tight end and eat it too. And what about E.J. in particular? He gets open and he makes, he makes plays. He has made, E.J. Jenkins has made more plays as a receiver, I think, over the course of camp than anyone aside from A.J. Brown and Devante Smith.
Starting point is 00:28:58 Wow. Like caught more balls 10 yards down the field. I would need to check with Elliot on the data for that one. That's interesting. I mean, Shipley has actually would be involved there. Of course, yes, naturally. I think it's, I think in the flash bulbs of my mind, it's, it's E.J. Jenkins. Okay.
Starting point is 00:29:21 Yeah, I mean, I'm not saying I don't like what I've seen from E.J. Jenkins. I still think that they would lean towards C.J. Usama. Do we both agree. Grand Capitara is kind of set in stone as the number two? I mean, I would not say set in stone, but I would say usage-wise, he has been the guy. Do you see a scenario where Grant Calcutterra is not the second tight end this year? Yeah, if they could trade somebody or they claim somebody. Yeah, I think that's possible.
Starting point is 00:29:52 McDonald's still available. Well, he's actually not available, but you can probably trade for him, is my point. Well, everybody's got a price. So this is me going based on what they say, although sometimes you have to watch what they do and not what they say. I get that. Yeah, I mean, we don't need a stenographer. We need an analyst. Starting point is 00:30:36 poppable buzz. There's a palpable buzz about this appearance you've had on, what is it, the NFL Daily Show? Is that what it's called? Oh, really? With Greg Rosenthal? Oh, yeah. On time yesterday. I have not listened to it yet.
Starting point is 00:30:50 Thursday is a gym day, not a walking day. So I haven't listened to you yet. But my drive-in, I'm going to listen to it. And let's just say that there's been more than one text message to me about this appearance. So I don't quite know. What are the tenors of those text messages? I need to listen and evaluate this.
Starting point is 00:31:15 No, I want to know what the text say. What the text say? The text is like essentially saying, if you need some material, you know, there's a, you got to listen to this pod. So I'm eager to listen. I want to know who you're hearing from. A reporter can never reveal his sources or her sources. Yes.
Starting point is 00:31:37 But there is, it's more than one. And I am told that there is material to be used. There's always material. Yeah, it was a fun time. You should listen to it. You can listen to the NFL Daily podcast. The good news is Greg found his tortoise. So that's the most important thing.
Starting point is 00:31:57 All right. I guess we should move things along. We're halfway through and we haven't even moved into the offensive line yet. But, Zach, on Dallas got her pretty wide. variance and the expectations you could have for Dallas Goddard this year. We had never seen him put it all together for that one fully healthy season, but he's also 29 years old and banged up consistently. Do you view him as something of a like a variable for the team this year? Like as Dallas Goddard goes, so goes the offense. Good question. I don't view it in that context. I do think they need more of the doubt. Scottert from 2022. I don't think Goddard played to his maximum last year. I think in 2022, he was a better player than the numbers suggest.
Starting point is 00:32:47 I think that that was a year where if he had more targets, he would have had a lot more production because he was playing awesome that year. And I think the advanced data shows you that. And in particular, like the yards per target. I don't know how advanced yards per target is. It's yards divided by targets, right? but I would say last year I actually didn't think Goddard played as well as he needed to play and I think that he can raise the offense but I don't think he is like the big variable for the offense
Starting point is 00:33:19 yeah I think that's fair I agree that he did not just physically look as threatening in the open field last year as he was and the numbers do bear that out he was he was not as productive after the catch. I would like to see, you know, I think the 2022 version of Dallas Goddard would make a big difference in this offense versus if he's just sort of on a steady decline. And all of a sudden that number three option in the passing game is not as dynamic as it could be. Yeah, I think he's, I think he's playing for his, his Eagles future here. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:59 I think that if he doesn't have a good year, even if he, If he's a middle and year, then I think everyone in Philly's going to know who Colton Loveland is or who Oscar Delp is next year. I would like, just as a note, I'd like you to start just making up names for these. Oh, really? I think that would be fun because those, I mean, that was just gibberish to me. Oscar Delp? Oscar Delp is awesome. Yeah, he's the top ten of Georgia when Brock Bowers went down last year.
Starting point is 00:34:32 Oscar Delp. Oscar Delp. And he was awesome. Yeah. Colton Loveland at Michigan, dude can play. I mean, so, yeah,
Starting point is 00:34:43 this is, I'm not saying this is like, there's no Kyle Pitts in this class, but this is a good class, number one. And Oscar Delp, Oscar Delp's going to be a riser this, this fall.

I don't think there are any huge surprises there. I think when we did this exercise in the spring, I had Fred
Starting point is 00:35:27 Johnson off. I think he has looked pretty good this summer, maybe, you know, more reliable. at tackle even than Mackay Bechton. So I think he is looking relatively safe at the moment. I know that there has been some disparity on the reports on Matt Hennessy. I think that Matt Hennessy has looked very good. So I have him on as well. And too early on the Nick Gates front, I've got them keeping McMahon and Keegan. That's my 10 at the moment. Yeah, I had the same 10. Mylotta Dickerson Juergenstein, Johnson, Beckton, Keegan, McMahon, Johnson, Hennessy. I am curious to watch Nick Gates. I don't know how great advantage point I will get tonight, but now that you say that,

Starting point is 00:37:43 Edge ones. Here's where I have one surprise edition, Zach. And this is based on the first week of camp. And sort of the back end of the roster, a couple spots unclaimed. And I'm going to give one here. So I've got Brandon Graham, Bryce Huff, Josh Schwett, Nolan Smith, Jailix Hunt, and I've got a sixth edge, Terrell Lewis, who I think is at a solid start to camp. And this is one where prediction-wise, I don't think that this will keep up.
Starting point is 00:38:14 I would not bet on Terrell Lewis making the roster eventually, but right now I give him the edge over Patrick Johnson and anybody else. Okay. You like Terrell Lewis more than Joy in O'Quarr of the intriguing edge rushers? I do. Because of the length? But I all because I think I've seen him do more. I've seen him do more as a pass rusher. But I also think, I get a great PBU where man, those long long.
Starting point is 00:38:44 He's also, this is one where you got to factor in the competition, but, you know, he, demolished Darren Kinnard at left tackle twice. maybe that's more of a canard than a Terrell Lewis thing. And Nick Siriani did talk up Patrick Johnson the other day. They know what he brings on special teams. Push come to shove. They probably would lean towards Patrick Johnson, but I wanted to give a little shout to Terrell Lewis.
Starting point is 00:39:09 Yeah. I have five here. Bryce Huff, Josh Sweat, Brandon Graham, Nolan Smith, J.Ox Hunt. My sixth, based on what I've seen, will be Joey O'Quara over Terrell Lewis. But both of them have relative draft pedigree. Joint acquires a little more production in the league.
Starting point is 00:39:27 Terrell Lewis has a little more length. Terrell Lewis played at Alabama with Jalen Hurts, played at Alabama with Devante Smith. So yeah, we'll see what happens there. But I have five here. I actually wanted to push more edge rushers and defensive linemen than I have. I'm probably a little too deep in the secondary right now.
Starting point is 00:39:50 but that's just kind of the way that the roster is assembled. Who do you got a defensive tackle? Well, I have five here, but that's only because Booker is going to Canton tonight. I'm getting back, because I enjoy, like, I respect Thomas Booker. I like Thomas Booker. But I have five here. That would be a good story. Great thumbnail for today's shot, for today's show, though, too. And, you know, I still don't really expect him to make the roster. But I think if the roster math is as it is now, he's being a good soldier. right? Like he's learning the position. I think he's actually looked pretty active. They're paying him anyway. I don't think it's crazy. Now, you're guaranteeing the, I guess he's, but it's all guaranteed anyway. So the idea of not having him on the week one roster doesn't make as much sense for him. So right now I do have him on.
Starting point is 00:49:17 Look, I think that based on play, I can see it. I still think that, Yeah, I don't anticipate that occurring. I still think they try to move on from him. I don't think you have James Bradbury as a backup on the 53, but like we've said, they're paying him regardless, right? So if you're paying him regardless and he's being a good soldier, if you will, I can understand it. They do need depth at safety.
Starting point is 00:49:49 I think Avanti Maddox sufficiently supplies that, or I think he supplies that depth. I think Cooper to Jean, when the Gene's back, It wouldn't surprise me, especially if Quinnian Mitchell's taking time in the slot, if they start to play Cooper the Gene a little bit at safety, just to prepare them for a backup role. That would not surprise me. But I am going at this point with Bradbury off, although I can certainly understand the argument for putting them on. And then my only other, my other difference is I have Josh Job instead of Eli Ricks because I'm just,
Starting point is 00:50:24 boosting special teams. Job is a good special teams player. I don't think he's guaranteed of making this team by any means. But I have not seen much for me, Eli Ricks, this summer. And I do think that he is a guy who they can, you know, flip for another player. Maybe a Donald Parham. Look, if the Chargers would do that, I mean, that certainly makes sense. You get a 6-8 tight end who's played in this offense before, who can be a threat in the red zone.

Starting point is 00:58:04 Yeah, carrots are good too. Okay. So, Eagles are on the practice field tonight, 630. They are not practicing. They haven't walked through tomorrow. They have an off day Saturday. I'm curious when we talked to Nick Siriani tonight, why they structured the schedule the way they did.
Starting point is 00:58:24 Because this is the thick of camp. And they basically have one practice in, what, a five-day span? It's weird. And then they're going to practice four days in a row, right? Yeah, very weird. So we'll find out about that. But I think overall, what to watch for tonight, I actually think they're going to show more than you expect.
Starting point is 00:58:52 Like, I don't think it's going to be a nothing practice. I think there's, I think it's going to be a scrimmage heavy practice, right? But I think you're, yeah, if you're, yeah, if you're, going tonight, you'll be able to to ascertain some things. I don't think they're, they're not going to do anything out there tonight. It's not going to be a great like O-line, D-line night, right? They're confined to one field. But it should be a fun practice to watch. I imagine they'll go about an hour and a half. So you're thinking like 630 to 8. I'm curious to see what kind of crowd is. It's a, it's a hot night, but it's a nice night out. No Phillies game.
Starting point is 00:59:32 So I'm expecting, you know, probably see, you know what, what, 40, 50,000 people there tonight. The only practice of the summer. Tickets, it goes to a good cause, Eagles Autism Foundation. And yeah, but so we will have a show tomorrow where we will talk about what we saw in tonight's practice and some other material. But then, as Beau alluded to next week, really, you want, is the thick of training camp. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. four consecutive practices. Big, you know, those are, that's the only four-day stretch during camp.
Starting point is 01:00:10 And what you also have to have to understand is after that stretch, it becomes very fragmented. They have a game next Friday, right? And then they go to New England for a practice, for one practice the following week. And then they have a game. And then they have, there's like a week there leading to the third game, right? And then you start to, the eyes start to turn toward Brazil. So for like the traditional training camp, the four days Sunday to Wednesday, I think is the most important stretch. And I would, the only thing I would add to that is we forgot about cauliflower, like a cauliflower.
Starting point is 01:00:47 I thought the only thing you would add to the practice part of it. Yeah. You like a cauliflower. Okay. Bok choy, radikio. Yeah. I took my children to a pizza spot last week and I had cauliflower crust. I was trying to be on the healthier side.
Starting point is 01:01:02 It actually was pretty good. Didn't taste good. Oh, really? Yeah, yeah. It wasn't bad. It wasn't the same, but it wasn't bad. It could be a lot worse, right? Yeah, it could be a lot worse, but it could be a lot better, too.
Starting point is 01:01:15 I'd rather just have a slice of pizza and eat some cauliflower than, you know, mix it all together. The whole point, though, is, is like to reduce the carbon intake, right?
