Starting point is 00:00:12 Hello, everybody, and welcome to the P.H.O.Y. Eagles podcast on a summer Friday, high noon, Bull Wolf, Zach Berman. Back in the saddle for a rousing edition of Tick, Zach Bo. Zach, how you doing? Doing great. Excited for the show. Always look forward to these. What's popping? What's popping? Summer edition of Tick, Zach Bo. Right? It's a great show. Okay. I've got some good topics. I've worked on the grid. I'm excited about it. Yeah. Are we still angry about Joe Missoula? I wouldn't use the term angry. I review every show. Okay.
Starting point is 00:00:48 And when I reviewed the show from Wednesday, we don't need to relitigate this to the top of the show. And I'm realizing that I was getting appropriately, but bartered for my commander's opinion, I thought the, like, the opinion on the show that was most dubious was. Yeah, you wouldn't think that. Was your Missouille one when it literally came three days after you set or two, Two days after you said, you don't watch, or you did not watch a second of the NBA finals.
Starting point is 00:01:18 It would, we're going to get to the U.S. Open. I watched a few seconds. We're going to get to the U.S. Open in a bit, but it would, it would be like me having like a really bold take about a golfer without knowing anything about, or like without knowing, with knowing very little about the golfer. I consume plenty of NBA media. Okay. I'm aware of the general perception of Joe Mazul.
Starting point is 00:01:37 Okay. Okay. Could you, if, could you pick? Joe Mazzu out of a lineup. Absolutely. Okay. Could you, if you heard his voice, would you know it was him? I mean, probably not.
Starting point is 00:01:52 Okay. If he's just whispering in my ear. I mean, if you listen to it, if you're scrolling through the radio or podcasts, you put on a podcast, you turn into the 30, 30 minute. I think if I had some context clues, I could probably figure it out. Okay. Okay. I did not expect that to be the top of the show.
Starting point is 00:02:11 I was, this is what, uh, what's your general process for creating your, uh, your tics,ac bow grid. My general process, uh, I have different half baked ideas about the team that there are, there are certain things that I want your opinion on. Um, with the NFL one, the NFL one's harder. We actually might as we workshop this and if we going into, well, I think during the season, the NFL one, there's, there's more there during the off season, I'm scanning. all the different NFL articles, different NFL opinions, to try to find something that we haven't covered in the show,
Starting point is 00:02:46 maybe an Eagles thing that we can extrapolate to the rest of the league. I try to find something topical. With the miscellaneous, I try to look for sports and non-sports, what's relevant to that week. I will not be on next Friday show. I was thinking about this, which might be a good thing because the big topic next Friday morning is probably going to be the debate the previous night.
Starting point is 00:03:08 So. Oh, God. I hope not. I would imagine the big topic in the news on Friday morning is the presidential debate on Thursday night. That's not a political opinion. That's probably just like from a general news. I don't think the second round of the draft of the NBA draft is going to get the same type of attention as the first presidential debate. So I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:03:32 Now I'm in a bad mood, just thinking about that. That puts you in a bad mood. Okay. Yeah, so there's different topics. I try to explore. I look at first and foremost what we're doing here, PHLY, some of the things going on in Philly sports, some of the things going on in sports.
Starting point is 00:03:48 And then I'm not a big pop culture guy, but I try to mix in pop culture when I can. Let's get, so why don't we start with a pop culture one then? Let's really turn the people off. Okay. Now, of course, if you're new here and God help you. We've got a three-by-three grid here. Eagles.
Starting point is 00:04:09 NFL, miscellaneous, and convince me, predict the future. And what's the other one? Would you rather? Would you rather? Okay, let's do a miscellaneous, would you rather? Miscellaneous, would you rather? Okay, so this one is topical for the PHLY Philly show for Phillies fans out there. Tonight, Cole Hamils is being honored.
Starting point is 00:04:33 Oh. And we have great coverage on PHLI, right, on all PHLY. dot com right now. I'm a Charlie Manuel in studio yesterday. Yeah, that was awesome. That was awesome. That was the Anthony Gargana show. Make sure you guys check that out.
Starting point is 00:04:46 You can find that on our YouTube channel. But Jim Salisbury has a story. John Foley has a story. I was on Cole Hamils. And I was reading Jim's piece. And Jim, who's obviously covered the Phillies for a long time, had a nugget in there that in the draft, when Cole Hamils was coming out. So 2002, there were two pictures that they were.
Starting point is 00:05:08 the Phillies really liked. Zach Rankie and Cole Hamils. And now I know football fans might say, well, that's, you know, that's obvious. The thing in baseball is, first off, there's less, like, consensus, and you can't trade picks. So there might be a guy that you think might be there at 18 and he goes at six. Because if a team really, after like the top three, top five, teams aren't as focused on value. They're focused more. like it's a player that they really like, right?
Starting point is 00:05:40 And or signability comes into it. There's different factors. He went sixth. Hamels went 17th. Yes, exactly. But they didn't know. I mean, there was a chance that he could have been in there, right? Similarly, he had a nugget in there when the Phillies drafted Chase Huttley.
Starting point is 00:05:53 The player they really liked was Rocco Baldelli. And Rocco Baldelli didn't last to them. But anyways, I'm curious. Same high school as my ex-girlfriend, the famed Bernie Mac Dead. Is it Bishop Hendrickson? Oh, you know what, not to say my high school, like the boys' version of the girls' school. Is it, okay. I think you went to Bishop Hendrickson.
Starting point is 00:06:14 Is that correct? Can you look that up real quick? Sure. Okay. It sounds right. Am I wrong or right? Bishop Hendrickson, yes. And did Joe Mazur go to Bishop Hendrickson?
Starting point is 00:06:30 Oh, my God. Joe Mazur was from that area. He went to a Catholic school area. It might have been Bishop Hendrickson. I'm not positive. This would be funny. Yes. He went to Bishop Hendrick?
Starting point is 00:06:40 It's actually Bishop Hendrick Ken. Oh. There's no S. And that's where Joe McCle. And is that where Joe Muzul went? Yes. What are the odds? It all comes back.
Starting point is 00:06:49 What are the odds? Can you imagine that? Look at that. Even Joy is laughing at that way. That's pretty good. That is cool. It's pretty good. It all comes back.
Starting point is 00:06:59 So anyways, I'm fascinated. You're someone who you're a good pitcher. I like that you're using the active, like it's in the present. too i'm still a good pitcher but you also you have perspective on you know a baseball career baseball historian so would you rather cole hamels his career or zach ranky's career and i'm going to preface this with this take out like some people could say well zach rinky made a hundred million more right so take out the financial conversation just just look at the careers that they had and to give a brief summary to the audience and you'll get into this zach rinky uh was more successful like
Starting point is 00:07:37 of you know he had six all-star games Cole Hamels had four pitch longer but Cole Hamels is a world series champion a world series MVP and a and and and the NLCS MVP so it's basically like how much do you value championship championship level performance here yeah I mean Zach Grinky had a better career right 225 wins 263 wins he played a little bit longer his you know he was he was the pitcher in baseball for a time but I think if you play that long and you're good enough I mean you want to win it you want to win a title and Zach Grinkey never won a title right he went to two with Houston is that correct or went to one with did he not make one with L.A oh so okay I think I think one with L.A one with Houston is I know he's
Starting point is 00:08:27 peered into okay but yeah he did not win one yeah I mean you know Grinky's more likely to be in the Hall of Fame mm-hmm but I feel like as a human being, I think you would want to win the title, probably. That's a good answer because I was thinking about it this way. And when we had Brandon Brooks on, and I posed Brandon the question with the, you know, Gene Schero line. I'm sorry, Fred Scherow line. I conflated Gene Hart and Fred Scherrow, you know, a win today and walk together forever, right? Cole Hamels is being honored tonight.
Starting point is 00:09:03 And Cole Hamels is a legend in this town, okay? because he was he was the MVP in the world series. Had the Phillies not won that World Series, Cole Hamas would have just been like a really good pitcher. You know, Cliff Lee is a really good pitcher. Cliff Lee's not like a legend in this town. When you win, it changes everything in terms of your reputation. The 0-18, like think about the 2017 team.
Starting point is 00:09:29 We talked about this, you and me. Asante Samuel was a great player, like a great player for the Eagles. He's not looked at as like an all-time eagle. But there's players on that 2017 team who have this indelible place in Eagles history because they won. And it's not even the lasting impact of that, which is true. But it's like, you know, you play how, like, you know, he was in the league for 20 seasons. The whole point, the whole reason you go to work is to try to get to that top of the mountain. And if you never get there, that's going to haunt you a little bit, right?
Starting point is 00:10:03 Now, I'm sure that, you know, Zach Rinkie is like a guy who has a very interesting and healthy perspective. most of the time so I'm sure it's not like bothering him necessarily but you know you you are there every day with these group of guys all trying to accomplish the same goal and if you never actually accomplish that goal I would rather be someone who did probably it's good answer yeah although I don't know maybe being in the Hall of Fame might might be it's it's an age old question like the championship like I'd rather be Zach Grinky than you know Joe Blanton sure or whoever else yeah but like if you were if you are still that good and it's like the differences are close then I think you probably would
Starting point is 00:10:41 rather have the title does it surprise you that Cole Hamels made only I say only that he made four all-star teams like would you have if I said to you before this exercise how many all-star games that Cole Hamill's make what would your answer have been yeah I mean I might have guessed five five or six yeah it's a little bit lower okay okay what would you have answered the same way yeah no I I love Zach Rankie I mean Cole Hamill Hamill was a left I'm a lefty. I wasn't a pitcher. But for the reason we mentioned, I mean, not to bring this back to the Celtics, but the joy of winning a champion.
Starting point is 00:11:19 The Joe, the Joe's winning. When you watch a team win and the Stanley Cup will be the same way, that must be one of the greatest non-family feelings in the world. Right? the like that that joy that you see from from those players when they win or those coaches or those executives and uh and cole hamilton just win he was the MVP right also grinky happened to be on a lot of really bad teams in the beginning of his career too so it's tough okay that's a good one all right let's do let's get an eagles one in before the break we might as well do that
Starting point is 00:11:55 let's do eagles would you rather eagles would you rather okay double would you rather So, Bo and I have talked about this framing about Sequin Barclay, one of the top five running backs against, you know, like what a third receiver is or, you know, the Darnel Mooney contract or the Gabe Davis contract. But it got me thinking if you take out the draft, if the Phillies, oh, I'm sorry, if the Eagles, if you had the option of signing, so you're looking at the running back and wide receiver three, would you rather this combination? Sequin Barclay and Paris Campbell, which they did, or you can say Devante Parker, right? You can't say it. Or Gabe Davis or Darnal Mooney and J.K. Dobbins or Alexander Madison. And that's because Gabe Davis and Darno Mone made comparable money to Sequin Berkeley. J.K. Dobbins, Alexander Madison made comparable money to Paris Campbell.
Starting point is 00:12:51 So which of those would you prefer? Basically the replacement level third receiver. Yeah. And the and like the 13 million dollar running back or the 13 million dollar receiver and the replacement level running back I think for a normal team I probably actually would rather have the Gabe Davis or darnel Mooney and Alexander Madison but for the Eagles specifically because of the like the target distribution that they have because they already have AJ Brown and devante Smith because you can talk yourself into if Saquine Barclay is what he used to be
Starting point is 00:13:30 and can recapture that in the most running back friendly scheme he's ever been in. There's more upside there. So I think for the Eagles, I would do what they did. What about you? Yeah, I probably would too. And I think Paris Campbell and J.K. Dobbins,
Starting point is 00:13:46 even though Campbell's not coming on, it's probably similar types of storylines. J.K. Dobbins has had a little more success in the NFL than Campbell, but Dobbins is coming up. coming off a major injury. Campbell has been bestricken by injuries in his career. Yeah, I think that your framing is correct.
Starting point is 00:14:06 It's easier to find, and I think this has shown over the past decade with Eagles. It's easier to find production at running back from the replacement level player than it is production from the third wide receiver, right, that you're signing. So if you're allocating 13 million a year to a skill, position player. You could make a conceivable case that this money's better spent at the third receiver because we can find production at running back. But I do think, like I said, when they signed him, Sequan's a blue chip player. I don't think Gabe Davis or Darnal Mooney or Darnal Mooney are blue chip players. And I think you can win with blue chip players. It remains to be
Starting point is 00:14:45 seen if Sequin Barclay is still a blue chip player. It's valid point. He certainly being paid like it. Sure. He wasn't a blue chip player last year. That's true. 3.9 yards per carry as we discussed yesterday. Yeah, so over under of a thousand 50. They're betting on that, but. They're betting on that. Yeah, that's not, that's not definite. I think would you,
Starting point is 00:15:05 if there was an option to split the middle, is there a running back between Sequin and the Madison level and then you, you paid a wide receiver a little bit less? Is that, was that an option? I don't love that because this is what we talked about with the running back spot. I don't love the idea of the Devin-Singletary contract or, if you look in
Starting point is 00:15:26 I mean the Andre Swift I suppose you know the Patriots just gave Ramadre Stevenson a contract extension now not a lot of guaranteed money but I'm of the opinion
Starting point is 00:15:39 with running backs that if I'm not if he's not like a star and I think Seekwon can be a star then I would rather draft one in the first three four rounds and develop that player I'm trying to think of what a
Starting point is 00:15:54 something like that would have looked like. Yeah, because Devin Singletary's contract was, let's see, Devin's Singletary contract, three years, 16.5 million. So five and a half, average annual salary, nine and a half guaranteed. Right. So that's your mid-level deal. And so if you're splitting the difference at wide receiver,
Starting point is 00:16:16 and then let's say they kept the Andre Swift. So Swift was, what, $7 million, so a little bit more. Right. And then your mid-level wide receiver, that's an interesting framing, Bo. I wasn't considering that, but that might have been a better pathway to go. Like, yeah, Devin Singletary and Tyler Boyd or something like that. Yeah, that's an interesting one. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:16:42 Well, I mean, I think Hollywood Brown specifically signed there to go to Kansas City. But no, that's that's a good. I mean, Curtis, like this is, the Eagles are, our star. hunters yes right like that's very much their M-O that that shouldn't surprise us exactly okay all right let's close out the would-you-rather version of the the tick-tac-toe here let's let's get three in a row sure NFL okay so bow and I on Monday those who listen and watch every day watch and listen we did our skill position rankings okay and on Wednesday we did our coach rankings
Starting point is 00:17:18 and some of us I'm raising my hand for the audio listeners had some some dubious picks in there I will own up to that but what I found interesting when I was reviewing that were there were two there were two teams on that list oh I'm sorry there were so if you look at the top 10 in Super Bowl odds there are two teams in the top 10 on Super Bowl in Super Bowl odds who were not on either of those lists from either of us okay this is fun on skill position players and game coaching and that's Buffalo and Dallas okay Interesting. And now obviously, the obviously we did not rank quarterbacks.
Starting point is 00:17:55 So if you're considering quarterbacks in the offense, Josh now and Dak Prescott, you know, raises that ceiling. But if you're just looking at it like offensive skill spots, they don't have elite offensive skill spots, although, you know, CD Lambs and an elite player. And they don't have from, you know, this amazing coaching staff, right? Would you rather, and I should also add this in the preference. That's a good framing that neither were in the top ten. In the preface. Both teams were, I think the general thought is they got worse this offseason or they did not make these like major splash upgrades. Both teams lost key players via trade via free agency and really didn't have like that splashy signing, okay, or the splashy draft edition.
Starting point is 00:18:46 So would you rather Buffalo right now or Dallas? because their super odds are somewhat comfortable. They're both kind of in the bottom of the top 10. Which team would you rather have right now? For this year or just moving forward for life? Good point. Let's go this year because that's how we did the coaching staff. Yes.
Starting point is 00:19:07 Yeah. For this year, I would say Dallas pretty easily. Interesting. Okay. For a few reasons. One, they're in the easier conference. They're in an easier division. all that's like that's the path for them to the Super Bowl is much simpler than the
Starting point is 00:19:22 bills who would have to go through the chiefs among many other teams right for two like like boy those bills like that offense they have totally stripped it and I like I do not feel good about that for them I have much more confidence that the Cowboys can maintain an elite offense even though I would obviously rather have Josh Allen than Dak Prescott like the coaching staff stuff they did you know was it bobby babich is is taken over as defensive coordinator and it's really like mcdermott's show sure um you know mike zimmer i can i can i can squint and see that that could turn into to something good uh maybe not quite on the level of you boy dan quinn but but um i think the cowboys defensive roster is better than the bills
Starting point is 00:20:10 defensive roster i would much rather have the they be the cowboys right now than the bills if it was like, who would you rather have for the next five years? I probably would say the bills just because I like the quarterback better. It's interesting. So the bills are plus 1,200 to win the Super Bowl. That's the fifth best odds, better than the Bengals, Texans, Eagles. That surprises me. The Cowboys are plus 1,700.
Starting point is 00:20:30 Okay, so that's the eighth best, or ninth best odds. Actually, tied with the Eagles. Interesting. Tide for eighth. I'm not seen it with the bills. Maybe I'm the idea. Yeah, I mean, there's a lot of Dalton, there's a lot of Dalton Kincaid hype. Is it outpacing the Ben Van Van Sumer in hype?
Starting point is 00:20:51 It is outpacing the Ben Van Van Sumer and hype. He's there, he's kind of their wide receiver one, if you will, is going to be Dalton Kincaid. Yeah. Yeah, now that's a good point. James Cook is a big part there. But yeah, if you look at their depth chart, they did not make these major, major offseason additions. they certainly did not if you're looking to make a major off-season
Starting point is 00:21:17 audition for yourself maybe a new house well mortgage CS can help you out our friends at mortgage CS are here to tell you everybody's worried about these rising rates you know we know we're paying attention we're reading the news

Starting point is 00:23:12 who you were watching it with, what you were doing. And that's the great thing about Miller Light, is that it's not just about the drink, even though it tastes great and it's less filling. It's about the memories you have, the good times you have when you drink Miller Light. A lot's changed over the years. One thing that hasn't, the great taste of Miller Light.
Starting point is 00:23:32 Another thing that hasn't is that it's less filling. So what is the best thing about the original light beer? Miller Light sparked this debate in 1975. We still haven't settled it. There are memories that you associate with Miller Light. Like I said, these great sports moments. The Stanley Cup, Game 6 is tonight. Maybe the Panthers close it out.
Starting point is 00:23:53 Maybe the Oilers win in seven. No matter what, whoever wins that, they'll all get together and they'll be drinking their Miller Light. Because you can spend less time thinking about what you're drinking, and more time thinking about who you're drinking it with. You don't have to choose what's best. Miller Light has great taste and is less feeling. Taste like Miller Time to get Miller Light delivered right to your drink.
Starting point is 00:24:12 door, visit millerlight.com slash p.chly birds, or you can find it pretty much anywhere that sells beer. Celebrate responsibly Miller Brewing Company, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 96 calories per 12 ounces, fewer calories and carbs and premium regular beer. All right, let's do Eagles predict the future. Eagles predict the future. Okay, this is a good one here. And so I'll read the quick sentence here, and then I'm going to give a quick preamble to that, too, before you answer it. Fourscore. Does Jalen Hertz get a third contract with Eagles?
Starting point is 00:24:47 Okay, so why am I asking this? Well, you might have heard Howard Askin on WIP this week say that if Jalen... What is this company's general opinion on Howard Askin, you think? Historically. This company? The people at this network. How do we usually feel about Howard Askin?
Starting point is 00:25:07 Oh, I'm staying far away from now. He said that jail and Hertz can get Carson winced if he does not have a good year. And look, I'm not one thing on this show, I don't get into the particulars of someone else's report. I'll do my own reporting on it. But this has obviously been a topic of conversation. We've talked about jailing quite a bit. I'm I there are are two parts to this that I I will say first off Carson Wentz demanded to trade but what is relevant there is is that the Eagles have shown that they're willing to
Starting point is 00:25:48 move on from a player if it gets to a bad point from either the player side or the team side that a cap hit is not you know I think when the field when when when Eagles did the Carson Wentz move it was shocking in terms of the big cap hit. Then you see what the Broncos did with Russell Wilson. I think the NFL is kind of coming around to the idea of sunk cost. I don't think Jaylen hurts. I think Jaylen hurts. There's a lot of confidence in him, right?
Starting point is 00:26:18 But I think about this with the third contract. This is interesting to me because we frame it like if he has a bad year, what would they do? I think an interesting way of framing it. What if he has a good year and a good year after that? but not like the elite year. We spend so much time talking about do you pay a quarterback that second contract. There's not enough attention paid to the situation that Dallas is in right now, for instance, with Dak Prescott, right?
Starting point is 00:26:47 Which is, you know, if someone's been there for seven, eight years or six, seven years, whatever it may be, and you haven't wanted it yet, do you keep pushing it in? Do you keep making him the highest-paid player? Or do you say you've had seven years, eight years, right? So or perhaps the Eagles win the Super Bowl or make the Super Bowl and Jaylen says in this time frame that since I signed the deal, Trevor Lawrence got this and Joe Burrell got this and Tula got that, right, or whatever it may be. So this is a long preamble of saying if you had the guess today, June 21st, does Jalen Hertz sign a third contract with the Eagles? Eagles. Well, before I answer that, let's, let's unpack some of the things that you said. Yes. First of all, the, uh, the Carson Wensing, I don't think it's a crazy thing to say
Starting point is 00:27:45 if Jalen Hurts has a bad year, a really bad year that the Eagles might be interested in moving on. I don't think that's great. Yeah. That doesn't seem crazy to me at all. Really bad. No, so, so this is, this is the one thing I'll say because I was texting with someone about this yesterday. I wouldn't frame it that Gial needs to have a good year. I would frame it that like, If Jalen has a, like, you know, Carson Wenz got benched. If Jalen gets benched, then that conversation opens. I don't think it's like Jailin needs to play like the 2022 Jalen in order to stay. No, but if it's like, you know, okay, we went out and got you a new offensive coordinator.
Starting point is 00:28:17 You know, you still had these guys. And let's say that everybody stays healthy and he has, you know, he, he's maybe a touch worse than he was last year. Sure. Right. Yeah, I don't think that that's crazy. The other side of the thing, the not enough attention being paid. to like if you're plateauing a little bit. To me, that's more of like a,
Starting point is 00:28:38 that's more of a general manager thing. Interesting. I think it's a binary thing. Like if you have a quarterback who is good enough to win a Super Bowl, like I think Dak Prescott is good enough to winning Super Bowl. It reminds me of Matt Stafford, right? Good point. That was not a Matt Stafford issue in Detroit.
Starting point is 00:28:52 That was a team building issue in Detroit. They didn't put a team good enough around him to get to the Super Bowl. I think if you have a player of that caliber at that position, who is at that caliber for long enough and you aren't getting it done, it's probably an organizational thing. Good point. Now there are lots of other reasons and variables in there.
Starting point is 00:29:13 But yeah, like I think the Cowboys should be paying Dak Prescott, right? As for the prediction on Jalen, if I had to guess, I would say yes. I mean, I just, I think he is of that level, that like yes or no level. And so it seems more likely to me than not that you would choose to keep. keep building with him as opposed to rolling the dice of trying to find somebody as good or better. But I would say if you would ask me that question a year ago, I would have, you know, I would have had like 95 turkeys on. He's going to have a third contract. And now it would probably be like 60 turkeys. Yeah. What about you? Yeah, I think you framed it well. And I would
Starting point is 00:29:54 agree with, I think you put it more succinctly than I did. I liked what you said. Like it's, it's not out of the question. And that's what I was trying to say about, like, the dead cap hit. You know, there's, there's, I've heard opinions, well, the contract's prohibitive. You just saw what happened with Russell Wilson. I don't think a contract would be prohibitive. I think everything would be performance related and alternative related too, right? What's, what's your next plan?
Starting point is 00:30:19 But if I had the guess, yeah, I think J.O.N. Hertz gets a third contract with the Eagles. I think he's a good player. I think he's built right. But I think he does need to play better than last year. year. I think one of the big differences with Carson is they were worried about injuries with Carson, right? You know, one thing that I think the Eagles would tell you is that is that Carson never won a playoff game with Eagles. I mean, Jalen has, he's won two playoff games and nearly won the Super Bowl. So injuries aren't as much a consideration. And the Eagles don't have
Starting point is 00:30:57 that clear alternative. But I, I, I do think, and you and I have debated about this, I think the Eagles would have run it back with Carson if Carson didn't want it. If Carson didn't want out that year? I don't know. Okay. You think they were done with him? I don't know that they were definitely done with him,
Starting point is 00:31:19 but I think they were interested in being done with him. They were curious about being done with him. Yeah. I think they probably would have brought him back, but it wouldn't have been, it's your team. You know, I think they're, and I think, and even if they brought him back, it would have turned sour and Jalen Hertz would have won the job eventually
Starting point is 00:31:36 and then they wouldn't have gotten anything for him right? Yeah. But I also think the Carson wins of it all part of the reason and like if they wanted to bring it back the reason they traded him is because he didn't want to be there. Like they fell out of love with each other in terms of like the way like the interpersonal dynamics of everything
Starting point is 00:31:56 and like all the noise around Jalen Hertz right now with the team is like not that they're not that they're headed towards that way but like there's some question about whether they are in lockstep right like you know maybe we're making too much of the you know the nick syriani answer and the 95% stuff but like that stuff is in the is in the zeitgeist and there's a reason that Howard eskin is saying things like that like Howard eskin is well connected in that building yeah he he's he's on the team playing he's he's on that you know he's the he's the sideline reporter for the the the official team sideline reporter, right? I mean, I'm not saying
Starting point is 00:32:34 he speaks for the team, but he's he, there's a clear connection between Howard and the team. It doesn't take a lot to connect those dots. Yeah, I I think you, you raise good points. I think that
Starting point is 00:32:51 with jail, yeah, like there's a threshold where it could get sour. I always say, or I shouldn't say, I always, I've learned a lot during these past few years. From the Eagles moving on from Carson, from the Broncos moving on from from Russell Wilson. Like never say never.
Starting point is 00:33:08 There's no marriage in the NFL that is like ironclad. I mean, Tom Brady moved on from the Patriots. Like Patriots moved on from Bill Belichick. Like everything runs its course. You know, it seems that the only people who are who last for as long as they want in this league are the owners, right? I mean, everything else can can kind of run its course. But I think that this is the point I wanted to make in terms of some of the noise. I think one of the things, even if the Eagles don't explicitly say this, that they might be sensitive to, is they don't want it to get to a point again when there is a feeling that someone's above the franchise.
Starting point is 00:33:51 And I do think there was a feeling from like with Carson that like they did a lot and he was above the franchise or that he was. he was untouchable, right? And I think that the Eagles want to try to make clear, like whether it's implicit or explicit. Well, it's more implicit than explicit. They're not actually saying this. But that like, hey, you know, no one's above the franchise. Okay, well said.
Starting point is 00:34:19 All right. Let's do miscellaneous convince me. Miscellaneous convince me. Okay. So get ready. I don't know where this is going to. going to go. Okay.
Starting point is 00:34:33 Are we previewing the debate? No. Honestly, I did not even know that there was a debate next week. You got to write the newspaper. What am I going to learn from that debate? Whose possible mind is going to be changed? Well, that's a fair point. Okay.
Starting point is 00:34:53 So I am not a huge golf fan. All right? I probably follow golf the way a lot of people follow the NBA, where I know the characters. I have a general idea of who's winning and losing. I'm not watching every game, and I'm not like as invested in the minutia, okay? I know Bryson D. Chambot won the U.S. Open.
Starting point is 00:35:15 I know Bryson D. Chambot has been somewhat of a polarizing figure in the past. I've read stories this week about how Bryson D. Chambo has rehabilitated his image. I don't know the context of what he, he, he, he got rehabilitated from to what he rehabilitated to. My question to you is convince me, how should I feel about Bryson D. Shampo? I don't mean, I don't think you have to feel any kind of way. Okay. About Brescent DeCampo.
Starting point is 00:35:48 He's an interesting player to watch. Okay. And like the rehabilitation of his image. Is it just winning the U.S. Open? I find to be a little bit phony. Okay. But, you know, he does like he's involved with the crowd. like he does play that stuff up and you know he plays with and shows emotion like that's that makes for good television he also like the way that he plays uh is is interesting to watch um i don't find him likable um like the arc of this is like you know he he bulks himself up he becomes this like monster golfer he's pushing the limits on how far he can hit the ball then he leaves for live stops playing as well uh you know he's
Starting point is 00:36:32 you know, and then there's this like, I just, I don't find it authentic. The, like, the stuff with the fans, but I'm glad that people enjoy him. I don't think you have to feel any particular kind of way. Just watch him and see what you think. But like, I don't have an appreciation for the way he played. Like, that's not, that doesn't.
Starting point is 00:36:57 Like, is he, is he a villain? Is he, like a protagonist now? Is he an antagonist? What's the, I mean, I view him as kind of an antagonist. And I didn't particularly enjoy, like, he played that course last week, and he misses, like, 12 fairways and, like, is not punished for it on the course. But, yeah, I think he's a doofus. Okay.
Starting point is 00:37:23 I'm glad that people like him. Okay. I don't know. Okay. That's fair. You know, he makes people watch. That's good. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:37:34 I'm not going to convince you on anything on what's the next major? The British Open. The British Open. The British Open. Macatrune. Who's expected to win that? Well, I mean, I'm sure Scotty Shuffer is the betting favorite.
Starting point is 00:37:45 Fair enough. Yeah. If I can sneak one more golf thing, how should I feel about Roy or McElroy? Because I've read some of the work. Well, you're going to be angry that he skipped his press conference. So you're going to be furious. No, but like, you see, is it like someone now who, is it like John Elway in the 90s where
Starting point is 00:38:06 where he's like so close? Like is he ever going to win it? Yeah. Yeah. That's, I mean, I think that's a much more interesting story. Is he ever going to win it? Like, did he blow his last best chance? I think he will.
Starting point is 00:38:18 Okay. He's a much more compelling figure to me. Although I think it was poor for him for him to not speak. Who's the, who's like the golf rush to get behind? Who's like the up and, I don't say the up and coming one, but who's like the, if I'm trying to find a golfer where I'm saying, all right, this next decade of my life I'm getting into it. I don't want to focus so much on like the big names.
Starting point is 00:38:41 I want someone who that my son and I can sit around on a Sunday. And when this guy's playing, I will tune in. I mean, you could do, you probably want an American, I'm guessing, knowing you. I would say, I mean, you could be a Morikawa guy. I can see him. Yeah, he was, he was that two years ago when he went to, he went back to back. Back back. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:09 Okay. Okay. Yeah. I will get into that. Was it back to back? Yeah. Okay. That's a good one.
Starting point is 00:39:14 Sahith Tagala. That's a good one. Okay. Plays with some, with some swag and creativity. Okay. That would be a good one. He's a young guy. Okay.
Starting point is 00:39:22 Those would be the two I would give you. All right. I'm going to go with more. And they're going to be involved. That's perfect. All right. That's good answer. Let's do the last.
Starting point is 00:39:32 No, let's do. around the NFL convince me? Around the NFL convinced me. All right. So this is a half-baked idea I have, and this is tied into the news. So you saw yesterday the NFL expanded the injured reserve return
Starting point is 00:39:46 to now you can get two more players returning in the postseason. So it's up to 10 overall now. I think eight during the regular season, too, during the postseason. And there's all these rules. And so I like that they've loosened the IR rules. There's practice squad elevation.
Starting point is 00:40:02 But there's so many particulars here, right? It can only be elevated a certain amount of times. You can go on IR here and this amount, you know. So here's my proposal. Tell me if this is crazy or if you would rather keep what they have. And I understand that contracts might complicate this. But every team gets 70 spots. No practice squad.
Starting point is 00:40:23 Okay. No IR spots unless you're out for the year. Like if you tear your killies, you're not coming back. you, that opens up a roster spot. Otherwise, it's pretty clean. You have 70 spots you can choose from. If you have 10 players who are hurt, then you have 60 players you practice with. But there are, there's no practice squad.
Starting point is 00:40:49 There's just 70 players on the on the roster. You can do with that what you wish. And if a player's out for the year, you open up a roster spot. It's clean. I don't mind it. I mean the downside is if you are ravaged by injuries you don't have like that there should be a protection against that just to be able to practice right maybe there's like a
Starting point is 00:41:12 maybe there's like a like a practice level that's like you once you're a practice player there's absolutely no path to getting on the roster at any point like you have to be that level of player but I don't I don't I don't dislike it it's interesting I think there might be something there It's kind of like the NBA's thing is that you have this amount of roster spots. I just, I did not like how the NFL had a little like it if these guys are all getting actual contracts. Yeah, they're all getting actual contracts.
Starting point is 00:41:41 There's no practice. I'm in favor of that. I did not like how the NFL used to be where if you had a three-week injury, but you weren't valuable to the team you go on IR, right? But I think now there's so many, there's designations and elevations and. you can have a certain amount of veterans on on practice squad i think it's much cleaner just have 70 players i don't i don't just like that i think even if that's not the final answer i think it's a good it's a good start so uh roger or i shouldn't say roger um NFLPA if you're your honor my pitch is this your your holiness mr giddell labor day to president's day
Starting point is 00:42:23 70 players on the roster um there's my stump speech my my debate for nifference Commissioner is it's built on on on those two premises all right I vote for you over at least one of the candidates let's talk about our friends at right aid Zach and the pharmacy services they provide because with a my pharmacy account at right aid you can do a whole bunch of things like refill your prescriptions schedule a vaccine get personalized care recommendations sign up for prescription notifications and all you need to get started is a prescription at right aid get started at right aid.com slash my pharmacy and stop stressing over your prescriptions let right aid refill them automatically you can

Around the NFL, predict the NFL, predict the- I'm going to save our Eagles one for last.
Starting point is 00:45:43 Yeah, predict the future. Okay, so. PTF. Which gets broken next? The highest paid quarterback contract or the highest paid receiver contract in the context here is that, Basically, DAC or CD-LAM? Which one happens first? Well, Jamar Chase, too.
Starting point is 00:46:01 So Justin Jefferson set the record for wide receivers. Trevor Lawrence, Joe Burrow, you know, are the highest pay per year at quarterback. Both those positions are keep going up. You have Tua and DAC who are not quite at the level of Jamar Chase and CD-Lam in terms of where they stand at the position, but quarterbacks always get paid. So if you have the guess, who's who's. who's the next highest pay like is it which quarterback or wide receiver that's interesting i feel like the jammar chase one they have another year right or this is his fifth year option similar to devante yeah they have the fifth year option to play with okay so he's on his he's in year four and they've
Starting point is 00:46:47 shown a comfort with waiting for the franchise tag they did that with t higgins they give him the big contract maybe it makes t higgins feel some kind of way although he did he just sign his his is tender. With the Cowboys, the question is, if you pay CD, how's that going to feel, right? And I don't think it behooves the dolphins to sign to that big extension, especially if you're not getting any kind of discount on it, right?
Starting point is 00:47:21 And then if neither of those get broken this offseason, there's a chance Brock Purdy becomes the highest paid quarterback next off season. Right? There's maybe Jamar Chase, maybe the Bengals wait a year and pay Jamar Chase next offseason. There's a handful of different directions this could go. I guess I would say why. And then there's always the chance Tyree Kill renegotiates. Right.
Starting point is 00:47:43 But does, like, is it Justin Jefferson's contract so out there that it's possible that Chase could sign for less? Well, that's a good question. It is the highest contract by significant amount, but Jamar Chase could say, I'm a better wide receiver, yeah. I guess if I had to guess, I would say quarterback, because I do feel like eventually going to pay DAC, and they're... Oh, Jordan Love could be in there.
Starting point is 00:48:10 It's more definite that a quarterback, if they sign a new contract, is probably going to hit that number, then a wide receiver might not. But, I don't know, what do you think? Yeah, I would say the quarterback. I would be more apt to make Sammar Chase, the highest paid receiver in the league,
Starting point is 00:48:25 or CD Lamb, the highest paid receiver in the league, than I would in making... Tua, Jordan Love, or Dack, the highest paid quarterback in the league. But like we talked about when J.1 and Hurtz signed his deal, the highest paid gets broken. I think the difference here is when J.N. signed his deal, there were about four quarterbacks who were about to get paid. Like the Eagles rush to that. If you're the dolphins with Tua, you're the Cowboys with Dac, you're not trying to get it in. You're not trying to get Dax on contract in before Tua.
Starting point is 00:48:57 You're not trying to get Tua's contract the end before that's a different. They don't need to do it now. Exactly. Yeah. So that's, I would say quarterback for the reason you mentioned, but it would not surprise me at all if Jamar Chase's contracts more than Justin Jefferson's. Let's do miscellaneous predict the future. Miscellaneous predict the future. Okay.
Starting point is 00:49:14 What's the next movie you'll see in theaters, Bill? Summer movie season. Probably inside out too. Okay. I want to take Casey to go see that at some point. I saw that with Reed. I don't want to know what you thought. Is there an adult?
Starting point is 00:49:26 I like to not anything against you. I'd like to not know anything about the movie before I see it. Then we can talk about it after. Sure. Is there an adult movie that you want to see? And part of the reason I ask is because if you're following the news right now, one of the big, I sound like a pop culture thing. One of the big topics out there is Kevin Costner's movie, Horizon, is coming out this weekend. And it's like, he's like staked his career on this thing.
Starting point is 00:49:53 It's like all his own money, right? Exactly. That's kind of the big one. The summer blockbusters, I think is, I was looking this up for the show. Twisters is a big summer blockbuster. It's got, I think, Glenn Powell in it. What are some of the other big summer blockbusters? But yeah, I did see Inside Out too with Reed.
Starting point is 00:50:15 I don't want to say anything to you, but I was actually getting into it. I did not know the premise of it. But last year, of course. Every week at the start of the week, I think to myself. Oh, after the show, this one of the days this week, I'm going to go, you know, stop at, whether it's the Philadelphia Film Society by the Bors or the Ritz, and I'm going to go, you know, treat myself to a movie,
Starting point is 00:50:37 love going to a movie by myself. And I just, this has been going on for like six months. And I just, there's always something else to do in the afternoon. I got to go get the groceries or whatever, all the stuff. So at some point I got to do it. But I think my answer is going to be not one of those ones you said. It'll be something a little bit, you know, a little more hipstery,
Starting point is 00:50:57 a little low budget. That's just, that's the kind of thing that I'm going to watch. Last year, of course, was the summer of summer blockbusters
Starting point is 00:51:03 because you had Oppenheimer and you had Barbie. And it doesn't quite seem like there's that same summer blockbuster this year. Although I could be wrong. I had not,
Starting point is 00:51:13 I've not seen Barbie. You still haven't seen it. I still haven't seen it. No, but I have seen that. Joy is shaking her head. I would like to see the, I would maybe like to see
Starting point is 00:51:22 the Furious and movie on theaters. Okay. What's the threshold? What's the threshold? for I want to see this in theaters versus I'm going to wait for this to come out on streaming. If it's if part of the hook is the visual spectacle of it than I do.
Starting point is 00:51:37 Like Oppenheimer, yeah. Yes. Yeah. Which I still haven't seen. You haven't seen Oppenheimer? I don't mean, I didn't see in the theaters, so, you know, I'm not going to watch it at home. I loved Oppenheimer.
Starting point is 00:51:47 That's like a, well, yes, of course, the documentary. That's going to be like a five-night event. It's going to be so long. It was based on historical events. defense, yes. All right, let's get to the last one. Eagles convince me. Is that right?
Starting point is 00:52:02 Eagles convinced me. Okay. So, Howie Roseman, I know you're watching this on Friday, June 21st, at 12, 53 p.m. Howie, good to see you, man. Good to see you, man. Howie Roseman turns 49 on Sunday. Howie Roseman was once the youngest GM in the league when he got hired, I think, at age 34 in 2010, is this funny if my math's correct year.
Starting point is 00:52:27 And, yeah, because he was turning 35 that June. He got hired before that. And now, Howard Roseman turns 49 on Sunday. So I'm sure I was trying to find a peg for Hallie Roseman's birthday. Happy birthday, Howie. What move do you think Howie looks most fondly on, football move, for his age 48 year? And what would he like to look back and change? And then knowing you like to have fun, what's Hallie Roseman doing for his birthday?
Starting point is 00:52:56 What do you think how his typical birthday is? Or not typical. Ideal. Ideal birthday is. Well, let's answer the first one. Yes. The football one first. So satisfy me first.
Starting point is 00:53:07 It's interesting because the timing of it is like, yeah. Like it's the good stuff doesn't come around to the next year, right? Yeah. So if you're looking back on it, like the major moves he's made, we don't necessarily know about yet. Right? From his 48 year, right? From the year he just finished. Right.
Starting point is 00:53:25 Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Sure. Because it's in late June. You don't know how the Sequan Barre can deal those. So it's pretty obvious that the worst move, the move that he would lament the most. Obviously the waving of Christian Ellis. I mean, it cost the Eagles the season.
Starting point is 00:53:40 Yeah. I was thinking maybe the Darius Leonard signing. But yeah. Well, which like, yeah, those were. Those two were. So actually, yeah, we were in the same wavelength there. The other one, I thought you might say signing Devante Parker. No.
Starting point is 00:53:53 No, I, I, I, I, I, returns are already. I actually, no, in all serious, that's when I was thinking about this. I guess I was thinking about this in the shower, but not just because I think about the show in the shower. First, we're talking about pegging on his birthday. Now you're talking about thinking about in the shower. We haven't even gotten to your dream of the week yet. So I was actually thinking when you were on top of this.
Starting point is 00:54:17 I give you so much credit. You're on top of everything last offseason. You said the position they should trade for was Eddrusher. Okay? and I think when he looks back, he probably wishes he trade for edge rush or help last off season. Their pass rush was not good enough late in the year.
Starting point is 00:54:32 That was an issue. They waived Derek Barnett. Nolan Smith did not develop the way they would have wanted during the year. And I can't prove this, but if they had more pass rush umph, like that might have made more of a difference than mixing things up at linebacker.
Starting point is 00:54:54 changing your defensive coordinator. They did not do a good enough job getting to the quarterback last year. And that's the type of move that should be, and it didn't work out this way with Robert Quinn. Maybe he was kind of scarred by the Robert Quinn move. But that should be a plug and play position in the middle of the year. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, I think if we were answering this question honestly and you had how he's truth serum, I would imagine that his real answers would be things that didn't come to pass.
Starting point is 00:55:21 Sure. Like, you know, a move that he didn't make or a move that he could have made. But of the things that he did do. Yeah, yeah, I should have that too. I mean, you know, I do think it's the Christian Ellis one. No, but how about. But in terms of what he's happiest about, I think over this time period, I think you would have to say, like, staying patient and getting able to get Quinnianne and Mitchell,
Starting point is 00:55:48 which then leads to having the capital to move up and get Cooper to Sheen and get both of those guys. I think that's probably the answer. In terms of like winning the deal, you know, I think the Devante extension already looks like a really good deal. In terms of like veteran player acquisitions, it's hard. I mean,
Starting point is 00:56:08 maybe C.J. Garner Johnson, like maybe recruiting Vic Fangio? Like, I don't know. At this point, I wonder what he feels the proudest of. I was actually going to say what you mentioned not in terms of winning. the deal, but having
Starting point is 00:56:24 Devante and AJ locked up, having Jordan Mila out of Landon Dickerson locked up, I think there's an offensive core here that over the next four years that's really promising, right? They have two
Starting point is 00:56:40 stud offensive linemen locked up under contract. They have two of the best wide receivers in the NFL locked up under contract, going into the off, or going into last season, because they do all their kind of contract planning at like a year in advance if you will you did not know if you'd be able to have a j defante land in and jordan a lot under contract so i i i think having that uh kind of settled is is
Starting point is 00:57:08 is probably what he's most happy about from this year yeah i agree all right i have here uh what i believe to be howie rogman's perfect birthday okay um we should make this a one shot on bow because I imagine this is going to be good. Well, I don't know about that. I mean, you know, you told me there wasn't much prepped the show today, but this was one of them, so I had to do something. Yes, yes. What time do you think Howie gets up in the morning? Do you think he's like you?
Starting point is 00:57:30 I think he's a 5am or? Well, I'm 545 typically, but yeah, I think Howie's probably 6 a.m. I could be wrong. I'll ask him that. Okay. Well, Howie Roseman wakes up at 5 a.m. to a news alert on his phone announcing that the Philadelphia Inquirer is ceasing operations. That's the 5 o'clock hour at 6 o'clock hour.
Starting point is 00:57:48 at six in the morning. He gets a little morning workout in, you know, text around with some national reporters. And he has some news here. Aaron Rogers on vacation has suffered a career-ending injury at the hands of a dolphin. Okay. We move on to 7 a.m.
Starting point is 00:58:07 Breakfast with the family. Everybody's wishing him happy birthday. It's a nice little event. And they've got Sports Center on and comes across the bottom line. Drama at Ohio State, they have fired offensive coordinator Chip Kelly. We now get to 8 a.m.
Starting point is 00:58:23 It's a little bit more of a normal time here, and he gets a phone call from Andy Reid, wishing him happy birthday. He says, you know, by the way, just for the record, you're the best general manager I've ever had. A few minutes later, Doug Peterson calls. He says, happy birthday as well. And he says, and I know I've said this before,
Starting point is 00:58:40 but just again, I'm really sorry for asking you to draft Jalen Rager over Justin Jefferson. That's on me. I love you. All that good stuff. the best. Then the doorbell rings and it's Jeffrey Lurie gives him a big old kiss on the forehead and says, I love you, Howie, you're like a son to me and he hands him a present. It's a nicely wrapped box and Howie opens the present and he unraps it and then it's a pen. It's like, what, what is this?
Starting point is 00:59:05 And he's sort of confused and Jeffrey's like, oh, I almost forgot. And he pulls it out and it's a, it's a brand new contract. He says, here's your new contract. You are now the highest paid general manager in the league. Howie's very excited. although he's a little bit sheepish. He wants to sort of wants to know what the number is, right? Like he's like, thank you, Jeffrey, but like, what's the number? And who to tell? And Jeffrey says, well, I'm not going to tell you the number, but let's just say,
Starting point is 00:59:31 I asked Thomas Demetrov what would be fair. And that's the number that I gave you. We now get to 9 o'clock in the morning. Breaking news, two bits of breaking news. Tom Petty is alive. Actually, he's not dead. and WIP has gone bankrupt. 10 a.m.
Starting point is 00:59:52 press release from the desk of Roger Goodell at the NFL League office. In an effort to make sure that there are finally no true lulls in the NFL calendar, the league has officially decided to crown an official off-season champion in the first week of July.
Starting point is 01:00:09 So they've got a big event coming. Officially, the off-season champions will count, it'll count as a half Super Bowl. Okay? And the Eagles are announced as a finalist for the trophy this season. They have also been awarded retroactively three off-season championships. So Harry Roseman is now a two-and-a-half-time Super Bowl-winning GM on his resume. We move to 11 o'clock.
Starting point is 01:00:32 We should have led with this. The call comes in from Joe Douglas. Obviously, you've heard about the Aaron Rogers news. Joe Douglas loves Kenny Pickett, and he's willing to offer the Eagles Hassan Redick in return. and Howie's like, well, I mean, I got to see if he wants to, if he's willing to play here. So he gets on the phone with Hassan Redick's agent to work out the details. And the agent is actually sort of apologetic. He says there's actually been a misunderstanding.
Starting point is 01:01:01 All that crazy ask that I had for Hassan Reddick's, you know, APY. It was actually in yen. Ah, I don't know the conversion rate. It's actually working out well for the Eagles. Howie signs off on the deal. Kenny Pickett for Hassan Redick. and now the Eagles pass rush is in good shape. Time for lunch now at noon.
Starting point is 01:01:20 But this is a working lunch. This is with Fernando Noriega. Okay. The new director of strength. Yes. And the good news is Zach for his birthday. The prototype is ready. Okay.
Starting point is 01:01:31 Noriega unveils for Howie Roseman the world's first body de-aging machine. Brandon Graham, consummate team player that he is, is on hand to be the first one to try it out. And the process takes about 20 minutes two minutes per year that you want to deage the body. Brandon Graham emerges. I'll take that.
Starting point is 01:01:51 And it's clear that this thing works. He's the more limber, stronger, leaner version of himself of his 26-year-old self. Of course, you're using on football players. Not to advance mankind. Yeah, this is all. I mean, how his life work has been accomplished. This is a huge competitive advantage that the Eagles now have. And he immediately resigns Deshaun Jackson.
Starting point is 01:02:15 Jason Peters, Malcolm Jenkins, and for some reason, Stuart Bradley. I think Stuart Bradley was getting in here. Okay. Yeah, so the Eagles roster all of a sudden is in very good shape. Yeah. At 1 o'clock using some of the money that he now has, Howard Roseman purchases a controlling stake in P.HL.Y. And fires Bowulf.
Starting point is 01:02:37 Why? No way. At 2 p.m. That took a morbid term. He walks past Vic Vanjo in the hallway And Vic's, you know, he's grumbling It's like, Vic, what did you say?
Starting point is 01:02:55 And Vic's like, oh, just It makes me so angry that you know so much more about football than I do. Like, that's why I'm angry all the time. And he gets a call at 3 o'clock from Chris Ballard And Chris Ballard says he's, you know what? He thought about it and he slept on it. He's finally willing to pay the asking price for James Bradbury. But then Joe Shane calls
Starting point is 01:03:13 says he's interested in James Bradbury too. So now we got a classic bidding. It's the best. It's a classic bidding war. This is fantastic. This could not have worked out any better. And eventually the Eagles trade James Bradbury to the Giants for a fourth that can turn into a third. If James Bradbury can play 50% of the snaps.
Starting point is 01:03:30 I like, good move. Four o'clock, Jalen Hertz goes live on Instagram. And everybody's like, what is going on? This is incredibly out of character. And he's having a pool party with Nick Siriani. Just the two of them. Everything's fine. They're just hanging out.
Starting point is 01:03:44 Okay. And Jaylon's like, Eagles fans, I'm sorry. I woke up this morning. I didn't, it only finally occurred to me how weird I've been. I'm so sorry. We're in, we're in good shape here. I love Nick. The offense is great.
Starting point is 01:03:55 There's nothing to see here. All is well. And in conjunction with that, how he sends a reply text to Bill Belichick. And he says, thanks, but no thanks, Bill. I do not want to be set up with one of your girlfriends, cheerleader friends. I'm happily married. Thank you very much. Five o'clock.
Starting point is 01:04:12 Five o'clock. home now. It's time to play a game of football in the yard with the kids. You know how he's got four kids. Right? Yes. Yep. It's two on two because one of the kids has decided to sit out instead of playing in the game goes up on the balcony and is watching the game from binoculars playing the role of Howie Roseman because that's that's much more fun. And so that's that's an ice heartwarming thing. Yep. For Howie. Six o'clock, Milton Williams has agreed to a discounted contract extension. That's very good. Philly voice announces the of its Eagles coverage. The NFL purchases ESPN and he gets a call from George Clooney saying
Starting point is 01:04:51 Howie, your tequila is better than mine. 7 to 9. It's a nice dinner with his wife. He's able to turn the phone off. Michael Solomanov has come over to the house and is cooking a meal specifically for them. Gets the luxury of turning the phone off, gets to disconnect.
Starting point is 01:05:09 Lovely time with the wife. Drinking phosphoro is his mescal. There you go. 10 o'clock turns the phone back on. The league has announced that the San Francisco 49ers have been stripped of a first-round pick after discovering that they tampered with Matt Pryor. And finally, it's 11 o'clock. It's ready for bed.
Starting point is 01:05:30 Lays his head on the pillow and he gets a text. Last thing he sees before he falls asleep, text from an NFL insider. Heard about some drama in Detroit. Sam Laporta might be available. And there you go. starts again the next day. The kicker was Sam the Porta.
Starting point is 01:05:45 You know what? I couldn't think of a better kicker. First off. But that was the one hole in the roster that had not been addressed. Your creativity never ceases to amaze me. Number one, well done. Number two, why are you being fired? I don't like that.
Starting point is 01:06:01 That's a, he's buttressing you. He wants to give you a bigger platform. He's not dismissing you. But no, that's a good day. I think Hallie would try to sneak in around the golf in there. He likes to golf this time of year, I imagine. I mean, it's a packed schedule. It's hard to fit in around the golf.
Starting point is 01:06:20 It's a packed schedule. No, that's a good, that's a good birthday. That's a good way to ring in year 49. She's changed human existence. Although, yes, yes. I don't like the fact that the Inquirer and WIP and Philly voice cease to exist. You don't? It's not your perfect birthday.
Starting point is 01:06:39 I want media to thrive. to thrive here. I love the fact that there's an anti-aging machine. You know, I think that's that that'd be great. I think the Eagles should. Well, not to be fair, it doesn't, it doesn't, my understanding of the machine, I didn't, I didn't build it myself is it does, it's not, we're not changing lifespans here. It's just like the physical capability of your body changes. Yeah. I mean, I love to go back and be 23 again, right? I could eat more cheesecakes than I eat now. I don't know if the metabolism changes. I got you. Okay. Certainly you could, you could jump higher. I didn't jump out. I didn't jump out.
Starting point is 01:07:10 I jumped like the Saturday, Dale & News was how I jumped. Yeah, I like that. Good work. Okay. Good work. Creativity. What is the Zach Berman dream of the week? Last night's dream I was making a cheese steak.
Starting point is 01:07:26 Four members of the Eagles. I don't know why I was the one on the grill, but there was, there was bad meat in the fridge and I had to get you're serving the Eagles bad meat no I had to get different meat so I I picked out I I like somehow I it was taking a long time because the meat was old or bad and the Eagles were getting impatient and then I made it and I remember it so the new meat came in I put that on the grill it's chopping up the cheese steak I put Cooper Sharp on and then I woke up.
Starting point is 01:08:09 So I don't know what was happening the rest of the dream. Who were you serving? Well, that's why I can't picture specifically. I just remember something with it. It might have actually been in the Eagles cafeteria. Okay. As I'm remembering it. There was a dream two nights ago where my, I was,
Starting point is 01:08:30 I was, I don't know why I answered this question. I was on a road. trip from like it might have been like Georgia, North Carolina and we're driving up to Wisconsin. I don't know why. And who was in the car? Matt Leo? No, there wasn't an eagle in the car, but when the car like broke down, okay? And Mario Goodrich came to fix the tires. No, I was, I was walking, I was walking along the interstate to the closest, like, service shot. Okay. Okay. And then I woke up. So those are my past two nights. I would need to think back to what three nights go.
Starting point is 01:09:16 Presumably that's... No, I... That wasn't the only dream that you had all night long. It wasn't just... No, those are the ones that are sticking with me. No, the... Well, that's the thing. You don't...
Starting point is 01:09:28 Your dreams are actually only like three minutes. Like, you don't remember... I was reading about this. You don't remember six hours of dreams. You only dream when you're in, what r em is that right so i i i can tell you let's see well how much last night i shouldn't how much meeting you made i shouldn't even is the or not get that too last night my r a m sleep was 52 minutes of r em sleep um so yeah that's the only part of the dream i remember was the
Starting point is 01:10:02 cheesecake part yeah okay i'm actually dismay made to say, I think I had a dream the other day about us. Really? Yeah. I'm in your death's nice. I think it was like a, it was a show and like you had COVID. No. Okay.
Starting point is 01:10:19 But you weren't wearing a mask and everybody got sick. So in your dreams, I was being irresponsible to the people around me and I got everybody sick. Yeah. What do you think of me, Bo? Goodness. That's not how that's not how dreams were. I had a dream the other night. I'm not going to get into particulars of the dream, but you got a huge race.
Starting point is 01:10:37 okay. I told you about this dream. Bo got like an enormous race. Bo dreams about me getting everyone sick. I wonder what this says about the two of us. All right. Marshall says North Carolina was mentioned. But North Carolina was mentioned yesterday.
Starting point is 01:10:55 I don't know, but this was two days ago. So this was Wednesday's show. I don't know why I was on that road. But anyways. So we should just end. Here's a note. ended with the Howley picked thing. Here's a note.
Starting point is 01:11:09 Yeah. If you see a comment and you don't understand what the comment is saying and you have no particular response to it, you don't have to read it. Okay. That's a good feedback from the show. You know what? You should leave that in the YouTube comments and then that way I will take it to harm. Or what you can do.
Starting point is 01:11:27 Or what you can do is you can get like an anonymous username on Reddit and you can title it like P-H-L-Y show. Put your feedback there and I will find it. then I will internalize it. But if you tell me directly, it doesn't have the same effect, right? It's good to know. I'm joking. I'll leave a comment on today's episode.
Starting point is 01:11:45 Yes. Yes. All right. Well, that'll do it for this episode of the PHLY Eagles podcast.
