Hello and welcome to the seventh annual Osprey Awards presented by Bet365.

What a day!
What a joyous day!
A special thank you to the sickos watching live.
and to Julia for producing what is our first in-person ospreys, Zach.
Maybe next time the sickos and us can all be in the same place together.
I think that's something to shoot for for the eighth annual Ospreys.
But here we are, remarkably 15 short days away from the start of the 2024
Eagle season, a season that promises to be a fascinating one.
as Nick Siriani coaches for his job.
Jalen Hertz tries to return to the ranks of the league's elite quarterbacks,
and as E.J. Smith recently wrote in the Philadelphia Inquirer,
Brett Tooth's versatility gives him a real shot at making the 53 men roster
out of training camp for the first time.
And yet, Zach, of course, despite there being no-show tomorrow,
and the Eagles closing out the preseason on Saturday afternoon,
we will discuss none of that today.
Jahan Dotson never heard of him.
I mean, there is an emergency pod,
which is on the site.
You could watch that if you want.
But no, today we wind the clock back 17 months
to the opening of the 2003 league year.
That's right, the day the Eagles signed Rashad Penny.
Now, despite coming off a Super Bowl loss and losing both coordinators, the Eagles entered last season with high expectations.
Hertz had played the best game of his career on the biggest stage.
Siriani was the king of vibes, and Jason Kelsey had the second most popular Eagles podcast in existence.
No Shane Steichen? No problem.
Brian Johnson, knew Jalen Hertz when he was a little kid.
No Jonathan Gannon?
Bad news for Zach Berman's tear ducks, but for the Eagles defense, Sean Desai was to the rescue.
And things started out distressingly great.
A dropped pass in week one.
A forced fumble in week two.
Ron Rivera scared to go for two.
Another dropped pass in Kansas City.
A 58-yard field goal at home, we picked up our heads in December and the Eagles were
10 and one
atop the NFL standings.
Alas, that record
proved to be almost
as farcically misleading
as Zach's Will Shipley stat.
Seriously?
I mean, Zach.
Let me finish.
Then came the free fall.
After the Niners
made the Eagles look like frauds,
the team chose to believe
that negative opinion of itself,
panicking to
make one of the most short-sighted, insane, self-defeating decisions this side of Shirel Parker's
work from home policy. That's right, Zach, they waved Christian Ellis. And yes, they also then
secretly fired Sean Desai in order to promote Matt Patricia of all people. That backfired as
spectacularly as any sane person would have expected. The head coach and quarterback apparently
despised each other. The owner flirted with Bill Belichick and the Eagles became an NFL
punchline. I still
can't get over the Patricia thing,
Zach. Like, how do
they not know better? Like, the most
important win in Eagles' franchise
history came at his direct
expense. This is a job
that they know that he is bad at.
It would be like if I hired you to be
my compass of Philadelphia.
Is that a reference to not knowing
where things are? Come on. Jihad
Dotson's from right over there
and we're talking about this
today.
Why do you always have to downplay the Ospreys?
There's news today.
There's news.
There's real news.
You know, I have like a whole Belichick parody medley thing ready to go that I was going to get into.
But let's just get into it.
This, me and you, it's not working.
Excuse me?
You know, Zach and I have been part of it.
is for five going on six seasons now. Some couples are meant to last. Some are not. And I think I can
lift the curtain here and say that for a while now, you know, you and I have talked about how to
fix this. The bickering, the creative disagreements, the stupid Nolan Smith lie. Like, do we call
it quits? Do we shake hands and go our separate ways, Zach?
we're doing this year
or doing this year
I know you got a flight to catch
but doing this here
seriously
or do we
try to spice things up
keep things fresh
in our proverbial studio bedroom
so Zach
I talked to Vince about this
and I think we are going to try
something different
I see you
I hear you
I appreciate you
and I want to thruple.
Excuse me?
I didn't know that was coming.
That's right.
That's what the chair is here for.
Truth be told, Zach, this decision was made a while ago.
I have been scouring the content fields around the country in search for the right match.
Someone even tempered enough to be the thermostat when our temperature rises.
Someone who can take a joke, but someone who really deep down into his bones nose ball.
Someone with Philadelphia roots.
And most importantly, someone comfortable enough in their own masculinity to give the people what they want when what they want is more thigh.
And Zach, I found him.
I wanted him.
The problem is, I didn't know if he wanted us back.
Julia, go ahead.
There's a boy.
I know.
He's the one I dreamer.
Has an E.
A good eye sees it from the sky above.
Mm-hmm.
Oh, he knows.
Football can't seem to get enough.
Uh-huh.
Zach and I
Are screaming
Does he want to be a dove
Ooh
How will I know
Oh my God
So bad
I will I know
I will I know
I will
I will I know
If he wants to be three
I say a prayer
With every new tweet
I fall in love
When he's in the sea
I'm asking you
Because you know sicko's heartstrings
How will I know if he wants to be three
I try to pot
But I'm too nostalgic beakly
Falling in love is so bittersweet
Tell Gunter Brewer I feel like a freak
I'm shaking
Wish I had you side of now
Nobody ever wants the second verse
Nope
Said there's no
Mistaking
Think you fit us like a glove
Ooh
I will I know
I will
Still going
I will I know
If he wants to be three
I say a prayer
With every new tweet
I fall in love when he's
in the sea
I'm asking you
Because you know
Sicko's heart strings
How will I know
If he wants to be three
I try to pot
But I'm
To nostalgic beckley
Falling in love is so
Bittersweet
Tell Gunter Brew where I feel
Like a freak
Us
If he loves us not
If he loves us
Ooh if he loves us not
If he loves us
If he loves us not
I think you're going to miss your flight set
One take, pretty good
How well I know
Zach, I will know because he is here right now.
Ladies and gentlemen and sickos.
That's right.
The newest member of the PHLY Eagles podcast
and the new draft expert for all city,
the one, the only.
Fran Duffin!
Welcome.
Hey guys.
How you doing?
A little more awkward now than I was three minutes ago or five minutes ago or 12 minutes ago.
The contract is not, right?
You can't go back down.
Let's just make sure.
Welcome aboard.
Thank you.
How you doing?
I'm excited.
My first Osprey's had to dress for the occasion.
You look great.
People can't even see that your shoes are matching the tie.
Yeah.
This is very exciting.
We are thrilled to have you.
I have something for you.
Hold on.
Oh, geez.
Thank you.
Is he opening it?
Yeah, am I opening this now?
Yeah, why not?
Let me pop some champagne.
It's the Ospreys after all.
Look at that.
Oh, wow.
Well deserved.
We got it.
I prefer the Zach, Zach one.
No, I, no, this is big deal.
All right.
Fran, friend, friend, friend.
As a way of welcoming you, Fran,
as I get this champagne open.
You know the Ospreys.
We have some cameos.
I have one to welcome you.
If you want, Julia, why don't you play that bad at home?
Hi, Fran.
It's James Cosmo here.
Lord Commander Mormont of the Night Watch.
Your friends got in touch with me
and told me you're starting a new job.
So that's very exciting.
They all want to wish you all the very best
and the best of luck.
as your new watch begins, as they put it.
Although there's no white walkers or werewolves or anything like that,
unless you can't read Blankenship and Cuper de Jean,
but there obviously is danger.
But the thing to remember, Fran, is more thigh, the better.
You take care.
God bless.
Bye-bye.
That was well done.
It's great to hear from the old bear as the sign goes up.
I don't know if that's going to stay, but...
How much of that did you come up with?
I mean, that's great.
The White Walker's...
Yeah, the pronunciation of Dijon.
Yeah, I love that.
Outstanding.
How you doing?
I'm doing great.
I'm really excited.
I don't know if you're as excited as Zach.
Zach, how excited are you?
I'm ecstatic.
It's well-deserved.
I have been an admirer of friends' work now for a decade plus,
and I think this is a huge addition to the P. H.L.Y. Eagle Show to All-City Network.
I'm sure people saw the news this week.
We're growing.
We're in more markets.
And I think, I think Fran did outstanding work for the Eagles,
but I think this is going to take it to another level.
So this is the best news that could happen to the show this summer.
Thank you, ma'am.
Congratulations.
Thank you, man.
Appreciate it.
I'm really excited.
I've watched every episode of you guys since you've been together.
Oh, here we go.
Everyone?
Every single one.
So it's an honor.
I'm excited.
I'm fired up to begin.
Thank you.
you sir uh now you uh i think it's fair to say my my camp crush confidant yeah i think uh do we do we go
back to e j jenkins do we go to thomas booker do we stick with lou nichols uh well so it was
a couple weeks ago and the three of us were standing on the sideline and zach was uh trying to get
out of you who the camp crush was going to be and i said you know i feel like i would be able to
finalize your top three and so i had i was able to write those names down and it was those three i don't think
I followed up on that. It was exactly. It was those three. But it was the wrong order. I had Nichols
at number three on that list. Because you didn't think he'd go running back, right? Yeah, I was shocked
that you went with Nichols as the camp crush. I can get ahead of myself. You can.
And so if I had, there was a day, two days prior, I said I was going to call it. Yep. That was for E.J. Jenkins.
I figured it was for Jenkins. Yes. And then it's like I'm too much of a, of a hipster of my own
mind.
Yep.
Like, it already moved on.
I got to call it week one.
Like, it was the same thing with McKee the year before.
So, I don't know.
Maybe we'll do some retrofitting.
I'm a Thomas Booker man myself.
Like a Booker?
Yeah.
But if...
Too much talk about the 2020.
Yeah.
We've got to get back to business.
Well, can we pump up Fran just a little bit more?
Sure.
Real quick.
I mean, we can move on, but...
I'm going to say, like, I mean, you'll see throughout the season how, how France is a part
of the show, but stuff like breaking down X's and O's.
player personnel as we get to free agency as we get to the draft you know that we're going to be
the place to come for all of that so uh fran is is significant value added to it we're very excited yes
very excited it's uh look not just to talk about the eagles but to talk about the draft talk about
all 32 teams it's going to be it's going to be a lot of fun over the next few months for sure
friend friend friend friend friend friend friends friends friends friends cheers all right back to the business
we out. Let's start, as we typically do, with the best separating player on defense from last
year's not very good defense. The nominees, Justin Evans, Sidney Brown, Zach Cunningham,
Christian Ellis, and Keely Ringo. Where do you guys fall on the best separating player for the
2023 Eagles defense.
I always go with Zach Cunningham
in terms of the contributions to the team.
Yeah, I think I would make a case for Ringo.
Okay, not till later in the year, for sure.
Well, that's a separating, that's a supporting player, you know?
That's the whole point.
It's a small sample sizes for a number of those guys,
but I would agree with Zach.
I think Cunningham offered the most steady level of play
when he was in.
Obviously, the injury kind of hurt him
over the course of the second half of the year,
but I think what we saw from him,
especially against the run, would give him the nod for me.
I think that's the first time I've ever heard that expression in five years on the show.
I agree with Zach.
And the Osprey for Best Separating Player on Defense goes to Christian Ellis.
Congratulations to Christian Ellis on his first of many Osprey Awards.
Next up, the Best Seperating Player on offense.
The nominees, as you can see on the screen.
green.
Landon Dickerson, Dallas Goddard, Jason Kelsey, Jack Stoll, and Olamadee Zakias.
Obviously, the concede here, Jalen Hertz, A.J. Brown, Devante Smith, starring roles.
How do you feel about the best separating player on offense?
I mean, my initial head goes towards Jason Kelsey, Landon Dickerson.
It would be one of those two guys for me.
I think that Kelsey probably would get it for me, though,
and try to keep it away from being a career overall recognition award,
but even still in his final season, I would still give the nod to Jason.
I'm going with a right-in vote, Julio Jones.
We'll get to.
I think Dickerson you can make a good case for here.
I think so.
Kelsey's got plenty of flowers.
I think the best separating player goes to Landon Dickerson for last year
as he looks to ascend.
We have a super chat, Fran from Sean, who says,
will you be able to do a lot of your weekly breakdowns
throughout the week in addition to your draft analyst analysis during the season?
Yeah, we'll start figuring out what that format is going to look like,
but you can definitely expect to hear, listen, read, everything,
so make sure you become a diehard and you'll be able to get a lot of that analysis.
Great plug.
All right. Yeah, good plug.
It's like I've done it before.
Lots of good stuff on the diehards.
Yep.
Now, I've got to say, a lot of moving parts for this episode, a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes.
Julia is the one to thank for putting all of that together.
And Julia has been playing hurt.
Yeah.
She was sick last week.
You know, we were worried about her.
She's back.
But just as a little something for Julia, we have another cameo that I don't believe that she has watched yet.
Hey, Julia, you dead?
No man, you're not dead. You were out sick, but now you are back and ready for action.
You are not, your eyes are not fooling you. You are looking at the greatest push-car driver in all of Jamaica,
aka Dogg-a-Duggy-a-Sanka with a very special, special pep talk just for you.
From the sickles, eyes and shine. It's back in action time. Cool running. Listen, I understand that you're a woman
of pride, your woman of power, and you're an Osprey award winner that don't take no crap
up for nobody. Best wishes and congratulations on that. But listen, your friends tell me that
you were sick, and now you're ready, ready for action, and I want to, in your recovery, I
want you to take it easy, because if you're doing it, take it easy, you'll stress out, and all
your hair will fall out. And then the sickles.
The sick holes will have to draw a line down the middle of your head.
So it looks like a butt.
That was explosive.
Oh, my goodness.
At any rate, listen, I also have a message for Zach.
You're a weirdo, and you should not refuse to pee sitting down.
That's strange.
At any rate, I have a song for you, Julia, and I go hold something like this.
No people say you know they can't believe.
Jamaica, they have a boxlet,
Tim, they won deris and the one junior.
Julia, the sickles and the mansanka,
Sack, Julia and the Mansanka,
the fastest of Jamaica and Sprintas.
Go to Olympics and fight for Jamaica.
Listen, my love, continue blessings
as you move forward into the rest of your life
and into your gradual recovery
and your re-entrance back into the fold.
You're fortunate to have friends
that are thinking about you even though they're sickles.
sickles because teamwork makes the dream work.
You know, I know something about successful teams.
Best wishes to you.
Peace on your journey.
I always remember and never forget, Zach, peace sitting down.
Love from the Lucky Egg, Julia.
Cool runnings.
Peace and love.
Goodbye, said God.
What a performance.
Oh, my gosh.
Unbelievable.
Thank you.
Did Vince approve all these?
He gave me a budget.
Oh.
We feel good, Julia?
Thank you so much.
What a performance.
Now, did you, I don't know, I know you don't want to get political, Zach.
Yes.
But the, uh, the, uh, the DNC speech this week with Doug Emhoff, the Doug, Doug, Doug, Doug signs.
Yeah.
I thought of Dougie Doug.
I enjoyed the speech.
Yeah, it was good speech.
It was.
Yes.
Look at you getting into it.
Yeah.
All right.
Anything else you want to share?
I respect anyone who loves her wife, right?
Okay.
Yeah.
So it was a nice message.
I agree.
A loving husband.
Yeah, it's actually my favorite of the week.
But yeah, okay.
All right.
Zach, you have a, you do have a plane to catch.
So we're trying to move things forward a little bit.
And so I'm pushing up the Zach's dove bird of the year.
Are there ads with her?
We'll get to the ass.
No, see, what happens is this is a show that's longer than an hour.
So we don't have to get to it quite at the same time.
Gotcha.
Okay.
The Zach's dove bird of the year.
The nominees.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
I don't know who that is.
Julio Jones.
Okay.
Lolita.
Yep.
Guilty is charged.
Matt Ryan.
And Josh Swet.
Fran, where do you come down here?
As a listener to the show.
It's got to be Julio Jones.
Yeah, for me, it's got to be Julio.
Lolita is a pretty good.
I mean.
I said, do you have a dog in this fight, Zach?
Yeah.
Julio. I mean, Holyo is the best, he's one of the two best receivers of, or three best receivers of my lifetime.
Calvin Johnson, Randy Moss, Julio Jones.
Right. And what does that have to do with last year?
I had the privilege, the privilege of being able to cover him and watch him play football.
And you could have covered him.
We actually have Huio somebody to award this award.
let's hit that cameo.
Julio, Conor Stanion's here.
One Michigan man to another,
congratulations to you
on winning this year's award
for Zach's Dove Bird.
The Ospreys are so glad
that you finally came.
What a year it's been
back-to-back-to-back winners of the game,
back-to-back-to-back, Big Ten champs.
Of course, Rose Bowl champs and National Champs.
Remind everyone who's on top of the college football world.
It's my understanding that you may or
not be a Trevor Keegan fan. I don't have any specific story about Trevor. I dealt a lot more
with the defense, but obviously I was around him all the time. And just obviously very reliable
dude and had grit like none other. I mean, he was a dog on that O line. But also, anytime
you're around him, you're always laughing. He's one of the funniest people I've met. Awesome dude.
great guy to have in the building
and wish him the best in Philadelphia.
But, hey, again, congratulations to you
and go blue.
How do you feel about that, Zach?
Well, Conner Stallions is a very polarizing figure
among college football fanatics, if you will,
or followers.
Like you.
Well, I didn't go to Michigan, but I grew up rooting for Michigan.
And, yeah, there's a documentary out now about Conner Stallions.
Looking forward to watching it.
I figured you, well, go ahead.
I was going to say good on him for jumping
the cameo. I mean, you got to strike while the iron's hot. Yeah, absolutely. He's, he's one like the
most requested ones that seems like these days. Now, uh, Isaac, I did, you know, knowing you,
I figured I'd take the opportunity to ask about Trevor Keegan. Otherwise, you would, you would
get mad at me about that. Yeah, I appreciate that. Good insight. That was good insight.
Okay. I know you. I know you a little bit. Uh, let's talk about our friends. By the way,
we were joking at the, at the beginning. We don't have, have, uh, tumult in our relationship.
I just want to make that clear. Yeah. Okay. Uh, yeah, you did a good, you did a good,
You did a good acting job.
I wouldn't say that.
I just don't want the audience to think that I actually was expecting to talk about Jahan Dotson today,
even though they made a big trade.
We do have that covered.
Okay.

Zach, what do you think this viewing experience is like for Franz family?
I mean, don't know what this is.
I'm going to hear about it in about an hour and a half.
What is that guy wearing, by the way?
Yeah, Franz got this amazing opportunity, right?
Everyone's tuning in, and we have cameos from Counter Stallions,
and I don't know who the first guy was for Friends.
I should have explained.
Fran is a big game of Thrones, yes.
Gotcha.
And then the cool runnings.
Is that right?
So yeah, but we do need to, I want to make an appropriately big deal about Frank.
Thank you.
We did.
Yeah, we're good.
Thank you, though.
Appreciate that.
Now, I have dropped the ball.
And one little thing I forgot to tell you who won each of the awards presented last year.
Brandon Graham won the best disparating player on defense.
Devante Smith, who won the best separating player on offense.
And Jonathan Gannon was the Zach Dov Bird of the Year, as everybody would expect.
All right.
We move on out of one of my favorite awards, and perhaps my favorite award.
And this is the Chicken Little Award for the favorite short storyline, you know, brief storyline of the season.
Last year's winner was Hassan Redick dropping into coverage too much.
The nominees this year, Howie Roseman fleeces the Titans again in getting Kevin Byard.
Shaq Leonard chose the Eagles over the Cowboys.
Julio's coming.
Miles Jack and
Zach Cunningham is exactly
like when the Eagles signed
Lindvald Joseph and Domokens Sue in 2022
and finally
Matt Leo's sideline thong
I'll chime in here
I'm going Shaq Leonard
choosing the Eagles over the Cowboys
that lasted a week until we saw
Shack Leonard on the field and
we realized that it was not as much of a boon
as maybe a YouTube
short that's still out there would suggest
Oh yes
What do you think, Fran?
I would go with Julio Jones.
I think he brings up a second one here.
I think that present company not excluded.
Most people did not expect, like, huge things from Julio.
That would be my guess.
So I feel like that's the most short-lived.
I mean, I'm sorry.
This is a runaway to me.
This is Miles Jack and Shaq Leonard,
the repeated seating from national reporters
that this is the exact same thing
as when the Eagles signed Domic and Sue and Linvald Joseph.
And then Miles Jack retired.
is a week later. That is the winner. That is the Osprey for the Chicken Little Award. Sorry, guys.
He wanted to be a plumber. Yeah. Yeah, he wanted to be a plumber. All right. Similarly,
we have the eagrettes. I've had a few. Award. Oh, I know all about this one.
The worst decision of the year. The nominees. Trading for Kevin Byard. Hiring Matt Patricia.
Demoting Sean Desai in favor of Matt Patricia. Jalen Hertz's decision to audible to that
passed to AJ Brown that was intercepted
at the end of the Seattle game and finally
waving Christian Ellis. It feels like
a two person race here.
I think
the change of defensive coordinator
is one that you can kind of point to and say that was a huge
fulcrum in the season last season, last year.
Look at you coming up with big words.
Listen, we got to relegate where we can.
I will go with
the defensive coordinator change.
Yes, I am with a friend
there. The defensive coordinator change
with the regret.
that one. Yeah, I mean, I think you know where I stand here, but the Osprey for the eagrets I've had a few
does in fact go to firing Sean Desai in order to promote Matt Patricia. I thought it would be wearing
that shirt. Huh? I thought it would be wearing that shirt. Wow. That's the famous shirt.
That's the joke. That's why I'll always be sitting in the middle. That's the famous shirt. The
orange shirt. Yes. I have something coming for.
I actually think it's coming up pretty soon.
Okay, we can move on.
We're a little ahead of schedule here.
I think we might get most of this in, Zach,
before you have to leave.
So that's exciting.
Zach, let's go to the Bose dovebird of the year,
the rejoinder to your Julio Jones,
the nominees, D'Andre Carter, Fletcher Cox,
Christian Ellis, Tanner McKee, and Tony Pauline.
I mean, it has to be Christian Ellis here.
It's Christian Ellis easy.
You're literally dressed up as a priest for me.
I am not allowed to vote on this one, so I want you guys decide.
It's Christian Ellis.
Easy.
Congratulations to Christian Ellis for his second of many Osprey awards.
And now, Julia, let's give Zach a little bit of what he deserves.
after that snide comment
we know that you try to stay out of politics
I know you got into the Doug Emhoff thing there
we had our we had your boy
Arpeyo last year
I know
I know that you would like to stay away
from the political conversation so I did reach out to someone
who my understanding was felt the same way
I don't know if that's how it turned out
Hey, Zach, Ken Bone here.
And someone was wondering if I could let you know my secret for how to avoid political conversations with coworkers.
And that's my secret, cap.
I don't.
When people ask my opinion, I just tell it to them.
I know I've picked up kind of a reputation for riding the fence, but I'm not a centrist.
I'm kind of a left-leaning libertarian.
The thing is, you don't have to avoid political conversations with your coworkers if you don't want.
too, I just wouldn't be the person to bring it up. If they bring it up, go ahead and be honest
with how you feel, but make sure that you actually, like, strongly feel that way about your
convictions, and don't be a dickhead about it. Like, if one of your friends say, doesn't believe
that universal health care is the way to go, try to figure out why they believe that. More than likely
they believe it because they don't think it would be efficient enough or something like that.
It's a very common, commonly held belief.
And then you could bring up something about how much we actually spend on health care or whatever.
Just try to keep it fax-based.
And if it gets heated, go find some work to do someplace.
But if you don't want to talk about politics at work, don't.
It's definitely not the most appropriate workplace conversation.
But you don't have to be afraid of your opinions is what I'm getting at.
So anyway, I hope that helps a little bit.
And if it doesn't, you could always spend some time, you know, enjoying hentai.
because an anonymous source tells me
you're super into that also.
Most of that was good advice.
Yeah.
There's no debating that.
Bo, your creative genius knows no balance.
Oh.
What did I sign up for?
What did I sign up for?
You really hit that line.
Thanks to Mr. Bowen.
Oh, man.
That was good.
How long ago was that debate?
Eight years?
Yeah.
Time flies when you're boning.
All right.
Speak for yourself.
I think we can move on to the awards that were presented earlier.
Before the show, we have the Nobel Geese Fly's Award for Work in the Community.
That went to Jason Kelsey, the Osprey for Emu Salani.
Excellence in toughness like a hockey player.
Christian Ellis, what work by Julia here?
I mean, look at that flying osprey.
That is beautiful.
You've got to be watching this.
Not just listening.
We have the unexpected virtue of ignorance award for the best bird man that went to Reed Berman.
Congratulations to read.
Always in the chair.
The championship belt went to Andrew DeCheco for his roster prediction title.
The Goose Almighty Award for Most Evangelical Eagle.
Christian Ellis, why not?
Of course.
The Rotten Egg Award goes to Shaq Leonard.
The Stork Award for Delivery of the Year went to Bo Elliott, even though he spells his name incorrectly.
The Flyer Flyer Pants on Fire Award went to Howie Roseman,
blaming the snow for the delayed timing of the postseason press conference.
The Swift Departure Award went to Rashon Evans.
The Pelican Bay Award for Best BFFs went to Howie Roseman and Matt Patricia.
The Grudge Hatch Award for Best Beef, of course.
Dom Desandro and George.
Ray Greenlaw. The Renew Wish Upon a Star Award for Best Play by a quarterback. Jalen Hertz's
rolling completion against the Bills and the back of the end zone to Alameda Zakias. Same game
gets Jalen Hertz the award for Canary near the goal line. Best Red Zone touchdown, his game
winner against the Bills. The Flackeroom Award for Best Locker Room Interview. Well, that's Christian Ellis,
of course. The Under Their Wing Award for Best Offseason Edition, DeAndre Swift. The Under Their Wing Award
for Best in-season edition goes to Gray and Mann.
The Peacock Award for Best Ensemble, Devante Smith, for the second year in a row.
The songbird of the year goes to Matt Quinn of Mountjoy's Sweet Marissa,
and finally the Penguin Award for Coolest Bird.
Well, it goes to Christian Ellis.
Christian Ellis, racking them up.
Not since Carson Wentz, 2017, have we seen such a dominant osprey's performance.
As we all remember.
That was the inaugural ospreys, as we all remember.
Stuffing the ballot box, I see.
I mean, I will take absolutely nothing that.
all on the up and up.
Speaking of which,
we also have the results of the poll from the diehards
for the other Ospreys that were available.
I can run those down now.
The Brief Turkey Award for Worst Individual Game Performance
with 51% of the vote, Matt Patricia,
against the Arizona Cardinals,
takes home the Osprey.
Congratulations to Patricia.
The Walling Pippet Award for Best Injury Fillin.
This was a tight one.
Christian Ellis getting 38% of the vote.
Sue Opetta getting 30% of the vote
Jack Driscoll getting 25% of the vote
The Osprey goes to Sue Opeta
Opeta. Congratulations to Mr. Opeta.
The Golden Fruit-Dove Award for Player with the Most Juice
65% of the vote.
A.J. Brown, he takes that one down.
The beautiful Fruit-Duff Award for the game
with the most juice.
40% of the vote goes to the week two game
against week 12, rather, against the Buffalo Bills.
That does, in fact, take home the Osprey.
Rook of the year,
Biggest blowout of the voting process, 95% of the vote to Jalen Carter.
Congratulations to Jalen Carter.
The Gooseeg Award for Best Eagle not to play a game for the team.
Miles Jack had 59% of the vote, but the award goes to Dennis Kelly, who garnered 21% of the vote.
The Baby You Flutter My Bread Award for Best Sponsor with 52% of the vote.
We're sucking them back.
Congratulations to Miller Light.
The unnecessary award for least essential player on the 3rd.
53-man roster all year long. This is a two-way race between Albert O and Rashad Penny, and with 51%
of the vote, Rashad Penny takes it down. You've got the Ugly Duckling Award for person who most
surpassed expectations, and with 44% of the vote, Braden Mann outpaces Eli Ricks for the Osprey there.
The Bustard Award for person who most underachieved, with 68% of the vote, James Bradbury does,
in fact, take home the Osprey. The Teradactal Award for Best Performance by a Planned
player 31 years or older, another three-way race, 38% for Jason Kelsey, 33% for Lane Johnson,
and 29% for Fletcher Cox, but Lane Johnson takes home, the Osprey for best performance by a player
31 years or older. The Owl Be Better Award for player most likely to take a step forward in
2024. I want your guys opinion on this one, because it's a four-way horse race. Everybody
between 22 and 28%. Cam Juergens, Keeley Ringo, Jordan Davis, Nacobo, Nekobo,
Who do you think?
My initial reaction would be Cam Juergens.
I think when you go in and you say,
okay, he's going to switch back into his more natural position of center,
all eyes on him taking over for Jason Kelsey.
I'm not expecting a lot to change schematically with what they do in the run game.
Obviously, there will be some differences from a like pre-snap phase sort of thing.
But I think when you look at Cam Jorgans,
I think he is most poised to take that next step.
I'm so excited we have Fran's insight here on the PHY Eagle Show.
I'm agreeing with Fran on that one.
You would vote for Fran on this award.
Yes, for sure.
Let me ask you an actual football question.
What you just talked about.
The pre-snap stuff, Juergens and Jalen Hertz,
the fact that they have not had any preseason work in a real game,
something that's on your radar at all?
I think that it's just a give and take in terms of like the risk reward there, right?
I mean, yes, you could say would they have benefited from a couple series in the preseason?
Yeah, but how long into week one would that have been?
benefited them anyway. You know, so if the risk of injury was there versus, hey, maybe the first
quarter of the Packers game in Brazil is a little bit clunky, you're probably willing to just
say, all right, let's just kind of bump those things down the road and we'll deal with it
come that Friday night. And do you think that it is a significant extra load on Jalen Hertz to have to
handle this stuff in game? I mean, it's certainly going to be different than what he had done previously,
but I mean, he has spoken about how he's excited for that opportunity. So I think that
Yeah, he's going to meet that challenge head on, would be my guess.
And it's going to be different.
And then also while dealing with the new offense, the new passing game, with everything that they've got going there with Kellan Moore, I think that is going to be a little bit of a load, a little bit of an adjustment for him.
But that's what this offseason has been about.
And it's been good to see him go from the spring where things did not look as smooth to getting into this summer where from every day I was out there at practice.
I mean, you saw some of the best things we've seen from Jayland Hertz in practice, certainly over the course of this calendar year.
Well, congratulations to Kim Juergens on taking down the Ospre for Al will be better in 2024.
Closing it out, the Exit Stage Flight Award for Player of the Team Most Needs to Replace in 2024.
Jason Kelsey got 41% of the vote.
He will take this one home.
The Come Black Swan Award for Comeback Player of the Year.
Fletcher Cox takes it down with 56% of the boat.
And finally, the Rags to Ostriches Award for Most Improved Player with 64% of the vote.
Reed Blankenship takes it down.
Zach, let's get into our final ad reads before we move on.
Our friends at Sleep Healthy PA, I mean, nobody's sleeping through this, but maybe afterwards.
You have a little bit of champagne.
You might want to take a little nap, but you don't want to be snoring.
You don't want to wake up your boo.
And at Sleep Healthy PA, they are committed to helping Philadelphia residents stop the snore
and find solutions for sleep apnea that will allow you to rest well and improve your health.
What causes sleep apnea?
Well, there's a choke point in the throat that causes snoring that's like a kink in a garden hose.
Not that kind of kink sack.
Dr. Andrew Cohen, board certified in dental sleep medicine and his staff will work one-on-one with you to provide first-class care that will meet your needs.
Many physicians are not equipped to provide other options outside of CPAP machines.
And if you're tired of a CPAP machine that's too cumbersome, if your significant other is tired as well, check out Dr. Andrew Cohen.
and based in Jenkintown, he has worked for years to educate dentists across the country on his personal approach to helping those with sleep apnea.
His team is committed to stopping the snore, tell him PHLY sent you, and receive 15% off your initial workup.
The process, a two-hour initial exam split into two sessions, the information gathering, and the reviewing of results and sharing of recommendations.
If you are experiencing sleep apnea and are looking for a custom solution to stop the snore, reach out to Dr. Andrew Cohen at Sleep Healthy Pee.
or call 215-337-250-2501 and tell him p hl-y sent you uh so the eagles have zach bond
at linebacker i saw the link was sold out for the zach brian show i point this out because
there's a lot of zbys that might be popular but none more popular than zibiotics nice okay uh i have
to tell you about the game-changing product that you can use before a night out with drinks it's
called Z-biotics pre-alcohol. Let's face it, after a night with drinks, you don't bounce back
the next day like you used to. If you're of a certain age, right, it gets a little harder. I have to
make a choice. I can either have a great night or a great next day. That's until I heard about
Z-biotics pre-alcohol. Let me tell you if there's a surefire way to wake up feeling fresh
after a night of drinking, it's with Z-biotics pre-alcohol. Pre-alcohol is the world's first
genetically engineered probiotic.
It was invented by PhD scientists to tackle rough mornings after drinking.
Here's how it works.
When you drink, the alcohol gets converted into a toxic byproduct in the gut.
It's this byproduct, not dehydration.
That's the blame for your rough next day.
Pre-alcohol produces an enzyme to break this byproduct down.
Just remember to make Z biotics your first drink of the night, drink responsibly,
and then you'll feel your best tomorrow.
Vacations, weddings, birthdays, and reunions.
I have a wedding this weekend I'm going to. There's so much going on. Get the most out of your
summer plans by stocking up on pre-alcohol. Now, go to zeobiotics.com slash pHL-Y Eagles to get
15% off your first order when you use code pHL-Y Eagles at checkout. Pre-alcohol is backed with
100% money-back guarantee, so if you're satisfied for any reason, they'll refund your money,
no questions asked. Just remember to head to zibiotics.com slash p.gely eagles and use the code
P-H-L-Y Eagles at checkout for 15% off.
Thank you, Z-Biotics, for sponsoring this episode and our Good Times.
All right.
We move on now to the Kaka-2-Good Award for Best Performance by an Opposing Player, Coach, or Executive.
The nominees, Josh Allen, what a game against the Eagles.
29 for 51 for 339 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception with two rushing touchdowns,
and 81 rushing yards in an overtime loss.
We have Zach's boy, Jonathan Gannon, bringing the heat to an Eagles team that needed the win gets revenge as the Cardinals come in and pick off his former employer.
Julian Love with two interceptions against the Eagles in the game against the Seahawks, including that game ender on the ranging play against Julio Brown, or A.J. Brown.
We have Brock Purdy, who went 19 of 27 for 314 yards and four touchdowns in the blowout win over the Eagles.
and Debo Samuel from that same game
who had four catches for 116 yards and two touchdowns.
What do you guys think?
I would say Josh Allen.
I think that he played well enough,
certainly for the bills to be able to win that game.
Jake Elliott hitting that field goal,
they probably do win that game,
if not for Jake.
So I think that for me,
looking at that list,
I would say Josh Allen.
When Jonathan Gannon was on that other sideline,
he knew what the Eagles were going to do.
He knew how next year he would call that game.
So let's go Jonathan Gennon.
What does the chat think on this one?
I'm curious.
I think you could make a case for several of these.
I think Debo probably was the difference maker in that game,
the way he was just running free open field,
though it was only four catches.
A little insight.
The award for cockatoo good goes to Josh Allen.
Sorry, congratulations to Josh Allen.
In a losing effort, interesting.
You know, you don't get to see the bills that often.
really his only Osprey's opportunity.
Maybe the Super Bowl this year.
Maybe the Super Bowl this year.
All right.
The counterbalance here, the Kaka You Suck Award for worst performance by an opposing player
coach or executive.
The nominees, Kirk Cousins.
Now, Kirk Cousins had a pretty good game in week two, but this is sort of an annual nomination
for him, so good for him.
He remains in the mix.
31 of 44 for 364 yards, four touchdowns, zero interceptions, two sacks, but another
prime time loss against the Eagles.
also nominated Tommy Cutlets, Tommy DeVito,
nine or six of nine for 55 yards
and pulled at halftime in the loss to the Eagles.
Zach's boy, Emmanuel Forbes,
sunned by A.J. Brown and borderline career ruined in that loss.
You have Ron Rivera failing to go for two
when his team scored at the end of regulation,
like a coward,
and then finally Marquez Valdez Scantling
with the game losing drop in the loss to the Eagles.
I feel like this one is between Forbes,
Rivera and DeVito to me.
Yes.
In Rivera's defense, his team was tired.
The defense wasn't tired, but his team was tired.
But I will go with a member of that defense.
I will go with Emmanuel Forbes.
I think when you look at AJ Brown going up against Forbes,
I mean, they sent him to the bench after that.
It was a rough season.
A little tension brewing here because I know you don't want this to be in
Emmanuel Forbes.
No, I've been honest about Emmanuel Forbes, but honestly, you know,
I believe in being, I think it's very important.
as a journalist that I maintain, A, my objectivity and in doing so with the Ospreys as well.
So even though I went to Syracuse, I'm going with Tommy DeVito on this one because Tommy DeVito came in,
if you remember, with a lot of hype.
There was a lot of national hype.
You heard all about Sean Stiletto, the agent, and then he didn't even make it into the second half.
Stiletto is the guy with the, like the hat or whatever.
Yeah, he just got honored actually by the city of Salem.
Really?
Yes.
As a witch?
No, he was, I think it was, Adam Schaeffer tweeted out, he's the first living person to be honored by them.
Salem, Massachusetts?
Yes.
Really?
Wow.
Did they try throwing him into the, like into the water?
Caldron.
Yeah, tied up, see if he would flow.
No, but my point is, his Tommy DeVito was this national sensation.
And then it was literally the only time the Eagles look good, the whole backstretch of the year, was when they played Tommy DeVito.
The problem is, I don't think anybody really thought that Tommy DeVito was.
a good player
Emmanuel Forbes was a first round pick
I kind of leaned Ron Rivera
but congratulations to Emmanuel Forbes
There we go
Fran's getting a lot of love here
as he should
And by the way Carson Wentz
the winner of this award last year
And Andy Reid won the award
for Kakatoo Good
a year ago for his Super Bowl performance
Although I will say that
before the Ospreys
the best produced thing that
Beau did was the Davido sandwich
Did I do special.
That was a good one.
Shout out to Farina Davita.
All right.
We have another cameo to get to now.
This is a message to the newest member of our family, our extended family, from an old member of that family.
Fran, congratulations.
This is such amazing news and deserves a four-hour Osprey to celebrate.
I couldn't be more excited for you to join.
Bo and Zach and so is Madison.
I know a thing
or two about being the mediator between
Bo and Zach and at times
it could get a little hairy, but I know
you're the perfect man to do the job.
I wish you the best of luck
and cheers.
Oh, and one more thing.
Steve Adazio.
That was perfect.
That was perfect.
Great to see you, Marissa.
Yes, that was outstanding for Marissa.
Thank you.
What delivery.
Cheers to Marissa.
as well. What delivery. That was outstanding. And what a performance from Madison. Yes. Awesome job
by Marissa. Can I ask Fran a question in honor of Marissa here? Sure. Okay. You and I have a business
lunch or or are you me and Bo and joy. We got to really enjoy a meeting for lunch. Okay. How soon is
too soon to actually talk about business when four colleagues get together? I think it depends on the
situation and what has been discussed previous leading into that into that meeting.
If it is that, hey, we're going to meet and talk shop a little bit, then basically right away.
If it's just, hey, you want to get together for lunch, at least wait until we've ordered, I would be my guess.
Okay.
Yeah, you keep trying to relitigate this.
You're wrong here.
I stand by the fact that, yeah.
You stand by the fact that I'm on the company time.
I'm doing company work.
Okay.
Well, this is actually a good, this is a good foray into this conversation, Zach, because I think that,
that, you know, Fran and I have worked together before.
Yep.
You know, we're friends.
But I don't think that the audience necessarily understands that, like, personality-wise,
Fran is a lot more like you, Zach, than he is like me.
You're a planner.
Yep.
You're a, you know, you need to get all the work done.
You're tossing and turning at night thinking about everything.
You eat, sleep, and breathe football.
You know, you're an over-analyzer. Is that fair?
Very fair.
The last couple weeks, I've slept like four hours a night.
So, yeah, I would say that's very fair.
Very similar to Zach.
This is good news for you, Zach.
Depends.
You know, I want people to be authentically themselves.
And I'll say this, whatever France is doing is working.
So if that personality allows you to do the work that you've done for the past 13 years, then lean into it.
if your personality allows you to do the work you've done over the past nine years.
Although you didn't like the work I did before that?
No, I don't know what you did.
I was trying to refer to that year in between.
Was that eight years ago, nine years ago?
The mysterious year.
Yeah, the mysterious year.
So, but so since you came to.
But you didn't like the step of the Eagles.
That's the.
No, I love the wolf stand.
Okay.
Yeah.
Actually, there's a, we want to get into it.
You got to say it now.
You can't fall start.
there was a reference to my celebrity crush
and the Wolf's
Milakunis I believe
Milakunis and I said if Milakunis reads this
She should get in touch
Milakunis didn't get in touch so I only presume
that she did not read it
Fortunately I met someone better than Milakunis
since that came out so we're good there
But yeah I was a big fan of the Wolf's then back then
My point is this
Your personality works for you, Fran's personality works for him
I agree with that
But I mean
you have a lot of siblings, Zach.
I don't know if you need another one,
but I feel like Fran is a little bit more Berman than Wolf.
Is that fair to say?
I mean, I think he's Duffy.
I think that's what he is.
Well, let's listen to a little musical interlude.
Oh, no.
Let's go, sickos.
Our show is on tonight.
We hope there's not a fight.
Otherwise, I'll probably pal.
Need to keep my poise
Don't want to raise my voice
But yeah I'm gonna scream and shout
No inhibitions
Zach is so conditioned
Gets a rio at a bow
He's gonna try to act politically correct
He only wants to have a good show
The best thing about being a Berman
is the anxiety to get your work done
And
O-O-O
Can never be lazy
Treatly like Brady
Beach shirts, love hurts
Oh-oh-oh
Story is filed, yeah
Doing a piece style
Oh-oh-oh
Get in the action
Avoid the distraction
Styling your hair, sleeping is rare
Oh-oh-oh
You wanna be free yet a feel
the way you feel
Fran
you feel like a birman
Unfortunately that's not the end
Oh my gosh
Ads need a break
So now we're going to fake
The chance to drink milk from a cow
Is it less or fewer
We only want more viewers
We're going to start the show right now
The best thing about being a Berman
Is the anxiety to get your work done and
Oh, uh, oh, can never be lazy
Treat the life Brady
Beech shirts love hurts
Oh uh oh oh story is filed yeah
Doing a piece style
Uh oh oh get in the action
Avoid the distraction
Stiling your hair sleeping
is rare.
Oh, uh-oh, you want to be free
and I feel the way you feel.
Fran, you feel like a Berman.
Not quite the end.
I just want to confirm for the fourth time.
The contract signed.
Yeah, right.
It's done, yeah.
The best thing about being a Berman
is the anxiety to get your work done.
Come on, everybody.
Uh-oh, uh-oh.
Can never be lazy.
Treat their left Brady
Beat shirts love hurts
Uh-oh-oh
The story is filed
Yeah, doing AP style
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Get in the action
Avoid the distraction
Stiling your hair
Sleeping is rare
Uh-oh
We want to be free
And I feel the way you feel
Fran, don't pee like a woman
I think the end is worth it.
Yeah.
I mean,
we're Casey and Jane, like,
were they asleep at this point?
I had to record myself.
I recorded that at 3 a.m. last night.
Oh, my God.
You know,
the Ospreys take a lot of work.
And so, you know, you need to send the family away.
Yeah, this is a week-long process.
Yeah, I was up row this morning,
and I saw you tweet, like,
around that time I was up about Ospreys with a...
You're up at three?
Like 3.30.
Yeah, that's about when I went to bed.
Yeah.
Long night.
That's okay.
I do think, you mentioned Casey and Jane.
I have mentioned before.
Jane's favorite thing in the world is music class with Miss Anna.
And Miss Anna has listened to the show before, her and her fiancee, I believe.
And to imagine, and Jane loves, and she has this beautiful voice, Miss Anna, to imagine Miss Anna, to imagine Miss Anna listening to that.
I mean, hopefully she can do better with her.
Jane. That's a lot of
the musical talent comes from Rachel, obviously.
Let's hope. That's what
we're concerned Ms. Anna. The voice.
She watches the show and the voice.
That's the red flag. Yeah, I think so.
Okay. Now, by the way, a little shout out to the dieharts.
Thank you to the diehards for being here
and for signing up.
And frankly, I mean, Fran's going to be writing
for the site. This is your chance to get in.
You're going to get even more added value. And we also
do have some fun surprises
ridding-wise coming up in a couple weeks.
Let's talk quickly about what sort of our plan is here for the show.
Now, during the season, when we have, let's say it's a Sunday game, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday shows.
We're adding a show this year.
There will be no days off.
Hashtag no days off.
Although Saturdays.
Shout out to Bill Belchick.
You think he's the one who created no days off?
Yes.
Is that what he said during the parade?
this Super Bowl parade, and then he started chanting, no days off?
I don't think that Bill Belichick is the one who invented no days off.
I think that's what popularized the expression.
I think you would think that.
He started a no days off chant at the Super Bowl parade on February 2017.
You don't think anyone had used it before?
I know people use that expression, but in terms of the hashtag no days off, I think Bill
Belichick's the one and popularized it.
Yes, of course, all hashtags, the, the,
all hashtags take their cues from Bill Belichick.
Well, when you chant something at a parade in front of X...
Well, when you're trying to date 19-year-olds, you have to use their language.
I'm saying far away from that one.
I might be covering this guy one day, so I don't want this on time.
Yeah, okay.
So, Fran, you'll be with us on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Yes.
And on game days.
Correct.
So we are very much looking forward to that.
Now, this Saturday, when the Eagles have a preseason game,
you're going to be doing the kickoff show and postgame show with Jamie Lynch.
Yep, because Zach taking vacation in the middle of the season.
I stopped back.
I didn't know there was a game.
I didn't know there was going to be a game.
Hashtag days off for Zach, and so I'll be covering the game instead.
I already feel so much anxiety about missing this game.
Okay.
You were on the schedule show when you literally encouraged me on the set to go to this wedding.
Yeah, I agree.
Okay.
But I also know it's eating you up.
It's in a huge way.
Why do you think I was up at 3.30 last night?
John Dotson's first game is an eagle and you won't be there.
He's not going to play.
Starting the quarterback.
So you'll be with us Tuesdays and Thursdays and game days over the course of the season.
You're also going to be doing a lot of work around all city and putting together
whether that's prospect write-ups or just insight on all these guys in addition to scheme stuff around the league, right?
Yeah, and I'm really excited to dive in.
Obviously, I'll be talking Eagles here.
on PHOI, but as we get closer to draft season,
we get into December, January,
I'll have a lot of my reports done on a lot of players.
So we'll talk about players.
I'll be jumping on all of the other markets as well,
CHGO and DNVR, everybody, all across the All-City Network.
So really excited to dive into these players,
to dive into the schemes around the league,
to dive in, obviously to the Eagles and their upcoming opponents.
We're going to write about it.
We're going to talk about it.
It'll be a lot of fun every week.
All right.
I think the Tuesday shows are going to be taken up a notch this year.
I think so with Fran's breakdowns.
So I'm especially looking forward to those.
Absolutely.
So we've got a lot of fun things in store for the season ahead on the PHLY Eagle Show.
A couple super chats to get to.
Handsome Rich Bobby to homing up with a nice $10 super chat says Fran is the goat.
Very happy for your friend.
We love you, Rich.
Thank you, Rich.
And then also Jason says, let's get Fran to relitigate old arguments one day.
That could be a nice show, maybe a byeweek show, just get,
Fran to weigh in on every single argument we've ever had.
Yeah, Fran, the one thing about the show is five days a week, year-round.
We are on.
So there are days in May and June, July, when we're saying, all right, what's the topic
du jour?
So that could be it.
We could also do it the Tuesday after the Eagles play the Cowboys and just do that.
And I'm not talking about football at all.
That might be it.
Then we're talking after my own heart.
Maybe you're more like a wolf than I thought.
And also, Sean, by the way, says, will there be any Fran T-shirts available?
So already a call for Fran merch.
There go.
think we can get on board with that.
So I'm saying merch coming up too.
We are down now to the big six, the big five, rather, the most important awards of the evening,
afternoon, wherever you are.
We start with the Palm Doreal for best team performance.
Now, this obviously waited towards the first half of the season for a team that collapsed,
but the nominees, the week two win over the Minnesota Vikings, 34 to 28.
the week three win at Tampa Bay 23 to 11.
I think both of those not going to win.
This is really a three team, a three game race.
The week seven win Sunday night, prime time,
the Kelly Green jerseys over the hot dolphins offense.
The Eagles win 31 to 17.
Then you got the week 11 game,
the rematch of the Super Bowl at Kansas City,
Nick Siriani, yelling at Elliott Shore Parks afterwards.
A win, 21 to 17.
And then the week 12 game, the following week,
overtime. Jake Elliott hits the 58-yarder.
Jalen Hertz runs in for the win, 37, 34, and overtime.
What was the best performance by the Eagles last season in your guys' view?
This is a good one.
At first I thought Miami, because that was such a big way.
Correct me if I'm wrong, that was after the Jets loss, right?
It was after the first loss of the year.
And so there was concern, what is the defense going to do against this high-flying offense?
Maybe this team is a fraud.
And then they went up against a very good offense and shut up.
And it was also like, oh, Sean the side knows what he's doing.
But then, I'm a big way.
But then to me, the win against Buffalo, I mean, the image of Jalen Hertz and the Kelly
Green after the game winning touchdown, hands in the air, fans in the back.
I mean, that was like the MVP moment.
You must not know Jalen like I know Jalen.
To me like that, I think that was the high.
That was the peak for this team.
Yeah, I would probably go Miami.
I agree the Buffalo game in terms of the significance of it.
But the Miami game given like the way they shut down that offense.
was what stood out to me.
And I'm on Mike McDaniel, Stan.
Shout to Coach Flynn.
Yeah.
Well, I'm torn here because I've given all of the ties to France,
so I want to give one to you.
So let's give the award to the week seven game,
the win over the Miami Dolphins.
Plus it was the Kelly Green.
They looked good under the lights.
Although both were Collegian.
Oh, that's true.
Yeah.
Okay.
All right, the Gullet Surprise for best play goes the nominees.
A.J. Brown's one-handed touchdown catch
against the Washington commanders in the corner of the end zone.
Very nice play.
Jalen Carter diving to try to intercept a spike.
Probably my favorite play of the season.
Jordan Davis in that Bill's game,
sprinting, turning his energy bar to low to tackle.
Josh Allen near the sideline.
You have Jake Elliott's field goal from that same game,
59 yards to send the game to overtime.
And also from that game, three plays from the same game,
Jalen Hertz's walkoff touchdown.
I'm going Jake Yowie's 59-yard field goal, man.
That was clutch.
And they had to rush out there.
It's a long field goal, tough conditions,
sense it to overtime.
I mean, Jalen's touchdown was outstanding,
but I'm going to Jake Kelly's field goal.
In the rain, in the wind, going into the wind.
To me, I said it after that game,
that was the best kick of Jake's career.
I would say it's the Jake Elliott field goal.
All right.
Well, congratulations to Jalen Carter for winning the Osprey
for best play of the season,
trying to intercept a spike,
something none of us had ever seen before.
Fantastic.
Okay, next up, the Gullet Surprise for Best Individual Performance.
We have H.J. Brown against Washington, nine catches for 175 yards and two touchdowns,
including the aforementioned one-handed grab.
We have Sean Desai against the Miami Dolphins shutting down that offense.
We have Jalen Hertz against the Buffalo Bills, 18 of 31 for 200 yards, three touchdowns, one interception,
at 65 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.
We have Darius Slay against the New England Patriots in week one,
giving the offense the boost it needed on a 70-yard touchdown return,
and then D'Andre Swift against the Minnesota Vikings.
A week after basically being benched in favor of Kenny Gainwell,
28 carries for 175 yards and a touchdown, including a long run of 43 yards.
I would go A.J. Brown v. Washington here.
I think when you look back at that performance, he beat up Washington in every way imaginable.
He beat them vertically, get the ball in his hands quick and let him work after the catch.
He worked inside.
He worked outside.
The physical prowess showed up.
The technical prowess showed up for me, AJ Brown against Washington.
As we talked about with the Emanuel Forbes selection earlier on the show, I would go to AJ.
DeAndre Swift against Minnesota for three reasons.
First off, DeAndre Swift.
First home game grew up right over there.
Nice.
Okay.
Number one.
Number two, best game he ever had.
since he played against LaSalle in high school.
Okay.
And number three,
perhaps most important.
That was the first show of the P.H.L.Y.
Eagles era.
The first post-game show, yeah.
That's true.
Okay.
I'm willing to be swayed by that.
However,
the Gulletzer Prize for Best Individual Performance
does go to A.J. Brown.
Ah, okay.
Nine catches for 175 yards,
two touchdowns and that one-hander.
Unfortunately, just a little bit better.
Okay.
All right, we have two awards left,
but before we get to that,
and Zach,
I know you've got to go in a couple of
minutes. So I want you to be able to see this.
You know, as we embark on a new
era of the PHOI Eagles show,
people might be, might be doubting us.
You know, we have high expectations, but I don't know if that's the case
for everybody else. One person in particular.
You know, some people have a chance to fall up,
and some people just get jobs that they have no ability to do.
But, Fran, how in the hell could you possibly get this job?
and know that you're not qualified to do it.
I mean, the first day you're going to go to work,
you're going to be like George Costanza.
You're going to wonder what the hell you're going to do at your desk all day.
Look, I want to wish you the best of luck,
even though there's no chance this is going to work out,
but know that I'm behind you 1,000 percent.
I know Bow's behind you, Zach's behind you,
and Julia, they're all behind you,
but you know you're going to fall flat on your face.
But look, one thing you got, you got love,
and you got the people behind you to give you all the love you need,
just know this.
Every day that you walk into that building, you got no chance to walk out without getting fired.
I wish nothing but the best, Fran.
Thank you.
Thanks for that.
That was good.
I needed that today.
That's got to be good luck, right?
Is that a Doug Peterson reference?
Yeah, what else would it be?
I didn't know if there's an inside joke I wasn't familiar with.
Yeah, I mean, that's what set the Eagles 2017.
I don't know if you read the book about the 2017 Eagles season.
I wrote the book on the 2017.
Yeah, that's what got him going.
Yes.
So now we've got no chance.
We have no choice but to win the proverbial Super Bowl of shows, right?
Yeah, the proofs in the pudding.
We get to work, are only as good as your next show.
I would say we landed our Carson Wentz, but I wanted to turn out like that.
Oh, shi-jikes.
Remember, we lend our Dick Foles.
There you go.
There you go.
All right.
The penultimate award of the evening.
The Chickadee defensive Player of the Year, Award,
for the Eagles, a defense that finished like 30th in the league, but that's okay.
We can still award the best player.
The nominees, Jalen Carter, Fletcher Cox, the Ph.L.Y.
Brethren.
Christian Ellis earns a nomination.
Hassan Reddick and Darius Slay.
I would go Fletcher Cox.
To me, I thought throughout the most of the last season, he was their best defensive
player a week in and week out against the run, against the pass.
He was disruptive.
I know Jalen Carter had more pop in terms of.
what he was able to do from a production standpoint,
especially in the first half.
But for me, I think you look at Fletcher Cox
from week one through week 18,
I thought he was their most consistent defensive player.
Yeah, I got to go Fletcher Cox,
and especially I'm pumped to have Frayne on Tuesdays,
but Fletcher on Tuesdays was always fun as well.
No doubt.
Congratulations to Fletcher Cox
on winning, not his first,
Chicka defensive player of the year.
Warned, I believe he won in 2017 as well.
Well deserved, what a swan song it was for Fletcher Cox,
played at a very high level.
All right. We have arrived at the most important award of the evening.
The Emperor Penguin Award for King or Queen of the 2003 Eagle season.
Who is the person who, when we think of this season, is the person who we will think about the most.
Some good nominees. They are.
Dom DeSandro became a superstar, not just in Philadelphia, but around the
the NFL, this was the year it happened.
Jake Elliott, I mean, the kick you talked about,
best kick of his career, became the most money player on the team.
Jason Kelsey in his final season.
I think Matt Patricia, results be damned,
was sort of the story of the season,
deserves the nomination here.
And then finally, Howie Roseman?
How do you guys feel about this one?
For me, person, and I can only speak for me,
I will think of it for Jason Kelsey.
His swan song, him going out is still one of the best to ever do it, a future Hall of Famer.
I will think of it as Jason Kelsey's final season here in Philadelphia.
At training camp every day this year, I've seen Dom DeSandro requested for autographs.
He is a, I've known Dom now for 13 years.
He is a celebrity of celebrities.
So that is the year of Dom.
It's not a bad pick.
What do we think in the chat?
I could go either way.
I do, I mean, Kelsey is a good one here.
But Dom did, I mean, this was the year of the Dom glow up.
Yes, yes.
We had the Big Dom sandwich at Farina.
The Eagles Autism Challenge is, they're raffling off as part of the Radiothon.
I think a day with Dom or lunch with Dom.
And the Dom merch is one of the best sellers for the, for AC.
Well, the good news is we actually, we do have somebody to award.
this nomination, this award.
Kelsey?
Chow Dom, congratulations from the agent, Sean Stolato,
and winning the 2004 Emperor Penguin Award from one Pison to another.
So happy for you.
I know this is your first award.
It's well deserved.
And whenever we think at 2023, we think of Dom's glow up.
He's a spicy meatball.
Bono Norte, God bless, Vibra, Italia, baby.
Zach, how did you know we were going to have him on the show?
I did not know you're going to have Sean Sletto on the show.
Salem's finest.
Salem's finest.
He also represented a key member of that Super Bowl team.
I don't know that.
A guy who gave a fiery speech at a halftime in the Super Bowl.
Brian Brayman.
Wow.
Yes, the Wild Man.
The Wild Man.
Nice.
That's a good one.
Okay.
We have reached almost the very end.
Zach, I know you've got to get that.
I got 90 seconds.
You got 90 seconds.
Okay.
Well, I have one more song to celebrate this joyous occasion.
I worked hard on this one.
Actually, but sorry.
Sorry.
Matt Quinn sent this in.
He just, he said, no one needs to hear your voice.
I don't agree.
But he said, no one needs to hear your voice anymore.
So he sent me something to play instead.
We got one from Matt Quinn of Mount Joy?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yep.
Here we go.
All right, Sickos.
Happy Ospreys from your favorite Sicko band.
We don't watch King
We just got
Matt's the best
Unreal
Matt's the best
Go ahead Zach
You can leave
Frank congratulations
I'm excited to work
Yeah very excited
Bo outstanding job
Julia
Outstanding job
Thank you
Guys I'm gonna miss this weekend
So much
But I will be watching the game
And I will be tweeting
And I'll be writing on the flight tonight
And so
No no no
Do not be tweeting
When you're not at the game
You're not at the game
Don't be tweeting
Well, not that would be disingenuous, but before the game and tomorrow.
I got, I got quotes, I got thoughts.
Yes.
You can't expect anything less.
Fran, you feel like the Berman?
Yeah, I don't blame them.
I mean, Matt Quinn.
It's the best.
They're like they were in Alaska.
They're flying to Seattle.
They got all these shows.
Unbelievable.
What a performance.
By the way, Mount Joy, coming to Philadelphia,
Friday, September 20th at the Manse.
enter, make sure that you buy tickets.
Go, I'm going to go.
Got to get a babysitter, but I'm going to happen.
I mean, that was fantastic.
And listen, Matt, long established now as our tight end expert,
if he says, I have to change the crush to E.J. Jenkins,
I think it's official.
You waited until Zach walked out the door.
E.J. Jenkins is now the official Boat Wolf Camp
Crud.
of 2024.
Zach is going to get the Uber driver to turn around when he goes back and listens to this in 10 minutes to
You know that that's what was in my heart the whole time.
It was.
He was at the top of the list when we talked about it on the field two, three weeks ago, right before the first preseason game,
I thought it was going to be Jenkins, then Booker, then Nichols.
After a week, I was ready to call it.
And then he had like one drop in the back of the end.
I was like, oh, like talking myself out of it.
I can't do that.
I got to just, I got to trust what I see that first week.
The heart wants what the heart wants.
And then I talk myself into, oh, like maybe it's more McKee than it is Jenkins just because it's his tight end.
This is more of a McKee thing.
Listen, I think it's okay to establish a precedent that if an amazing musician writes a song asking me to change the camp crush, then I'm allowed to change it.
Yeah, I mean, there's only so many people in the world that can say that.
I think the fact that Matt was able to come through for you in this moment of need.
I think that you can only follow his wishes.
Three Ospreys in a row that we have a Matt Quinn song.
Unbelievable.
What a performance.
You know, if you are on Twitter or whatever, thank Matt for making that happen.
And boy, what a refreshing palate cleanse for our ears after the other songs that have been sung on this episode.
Not once during that did I ask, is it almost over?
All right.
let's chat for like three more minutes
just so we can get to 90 minutes
here Fran. What are you looking forward to
about the game on Saturday?
You know, obviously the big thing is just seeing how
some of these young players continue to shine.
I don't expect that we're going to see too much.
I mean, what's your expectation defensively?
Because obviously we've seen a lot of the,
maybe not the front line starters,
but the guys that, you know,
we expect to play pivotal roles.
Do you expect that we're going to see some of these guys
in this game Saturday?
Like is Quinnion Mitchell going to play a quarter?
I don't think
Quinion is going to play.
Do you?
That's what...
Maybe.
Right.
Yeah, maybe like a series or two.
Right.
I don't know.
I mean, like the Vic has been
pushing the needle
instead of the offense.
Like, I think we'll probably
will see the linebackers
for a series or two.
So maybe we will see like a series
or two from Quinionta Mitchell.
I don't think that's crazy.
And to me, that's what the focus
will be on.
Number one, making sure those guys
get out of the game healthy.
And then number two,
just seeing if they can see
continued development.
One of the things
while watching the film back
from last week's game
against New England
was just seeing all of these guys get reps against the New England ones for a half plus, right?
And just seeing those guys go up against another team's starting unit, whether that was the pass rushers, seeing Jailix Hunt, seeing Nolan Smith, Keeley Ringgo, Quinyan Mitchell, seeing all these guys get these extended reps.
One of my big takeaways from that game was all of these are so, so important for them and their future development.
Now, people don't know what the studio set up here is like.
We have a big glass door here.
We can see what's going on in the rest of the office.
Zach is just out there lollygagging.
He's not running away.
He's not going to catch his Uber.
He went to change.
He's looking at his phone out there.
He couldn't have stayed on for that?
He's probably watching the show right now.
The disrespect for the Ospreys knows no bounds from this man.
And by the way, the tweet that he sent out, to give away
all but give away what was coming
as the big surprise on this episode
the guy has no chill
when I pulled into the parking lot
you could see the steam
coming out of Bo's ears
I mean have a sense of the moment
have a sense of mystery please
I tried to keep people off my
off the trail a little bit
you did a great job with my message
earlier today
threw in the time off
and yeah we know that you're as
you're afraid to feel like a Berman
you took about two hours of time off
but not even that
no it was
yeah look he he was
following your lead, that was his defense, was, oh, you said that there was a big announcement coming.
But, in conjunction with your announcement today, there were only a couple people that got in and were able to sniff it out.
Now, I should ask you, since you weren't on the emergency podcast, I know you're going to be,
there goes a friend banner.
There's a little bit of it.
You're going to be on Anthony's show tomorrow morning talking about this stuff.
But your reaction to the Johan Dotson trade.
I like the trade.
I think that he is the exact profile of player that they should have targeted for.
a move like this because number one
he could play inside and outside. Look at him sauntering over
there. Just no hustle.
He's got to leave the show, but he's
just, I've never seen anyone pack
up so slowly. If he was
my ballet guy, I mean, I would be
aghast. What are we doing? A lack of urgency here.
But for me, I think that
John Dotson is a guy that can line up inside and outside.
I think he played about a third of his snaps
in the slot last year.
Coming out of Penn State, I mean, he was a guy that I
didn't see as like an impact starter
at wide receiver.
I thought he would be a nice compliment.
And to say, okay, he can come in,
be the wide receiver three.
I mean,
he would have been an upgrade
a wide receiver three a year ago for this team.
And as Zach walks by.
He doesn't even have his stuff.
He would have been an upgrade
at wide receiver three a year ago.
Walking around for 10 minutes.
I think that,
uh, John Dotson, he's,
and again,
the price,
yes, you had to pay a little bit,
but to me,
like,
you're trading down from the fifth round,
or from the third round to the fifth round.
You give up a couple sevens for sure.
but this team had extra draft capital going in the next year anyway to kind of shore things up.
He can be a viable wide receiver three and knock on wood,
if there is an injury to AJ Brown or Devante Smith,
he's a guy that at least you can feel like you can have some level of competency at wide receiver
and not have to bet on one of these young guys to be able to come up and step into that role.
And so for me, this trade made a lot of sense.
Do you think, and as you were watching camp, you know, that they were lacking from that third wide receiver spot,
Do you think that there is like a like a multiplication effect here where if there's if everybody on the field is competent like if they have to respect Johan Dotson and if Jailene Hart is willing to throw him the ball that that just it makes things easier for everybody.
Certainly.
I mean more talent is definitely better across the board.
I have always been one to say, you know what, like this was a little bit overblown anyway.
He's finally leaving.
Oh, there we go.
He's got his back.
He's going out of the door.
10 minutes later.
to me we go but to last year I talked about last year and the wide receiver three last year for
this team depending on situation was either quez wakins or alameda zakias the drop off from alamade zakias and
quez wakins to will say britain covey johnny wilson paris campbell whatever triumph ross
i don't know to me like that was marginal i didn't think it was like oh that this is
going to be huge for this offense the issue would be obviously if there was an injury to one of the top
two guys. Then that's when you were going to be in big trouble. But I think that this kind of
insulates them from that. I think when you look at Dotson, again, he's a guy that can help you in a
lot of different ways inside and outside. All right. I think that's enough. That's enough football
time. Eagles, 24 talk for the Ospreys. You will have a chance to talk about that with Anthony
and with Jamie on Saturday. Thank you to you, Fran. Thank you for coming here and giving us a reason
to celebrate.
This is,
what an honor to be on my first
Osprey's.
Yeah, I've never done
like any kind of contributing
video, I don't think.
If you're for Shields goodbye,
I don't think I did anything.
I don't think so.
So this was my first appearance.
I do, I think
that over the course
of the seven or
eight years of the different iterations
of this show,
I believe you are the person
who has been on as a guest the most.
You had said that a couple,
a couple years ago.
Actually, yeah, I think it was Shields going away.
Right.
did we have the stats i think it's you yeah i'd like you right we were we were grooming you
the whole time yeah who knew hashtag fran groomer yeah uh and then you're the one that came up with
that term you you were you were you were about one of the same one of the same uh
uh groomer um is i got a text from from zach we'll wait for you to tweet your own announcement
uh so it's not to not to spoil uh things but uh yeah that'll do it for the seventh annual
Osprey Awards what a ride it has been what an exciting day for p. HLY and for Zach who didn't
even he took like one sip of his champagne I was shocked that he took the first sip to be
honest I did not think he was going to touch it he might have actually only bought it to
his lips and didn't actually yeah yeah hashtag Frumer is what we have going on in
great now all right very exciting stuff we'll be back with a kickoff show with Fran
and Jamie on Saturday and a post game
show as well. He goes play at 1 o'clock, so that'll start at 12.30 and then after the game,
obviously. And the next week, we get into it. Five days a week, Fran Duffy on your screen,
in your ears, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and game days. Very exciting. We are, this is like way
bigger than the Jahan Dotson edition. This is like adding an AJ Brown to our roster. So we're
very excited. Thank you to the sickos for being here as well and enjoying the Ospreys.
with us. Thank you to Julia, most of all, for making it all happen and all of the contributors.
You know what? Some of those guys, think of what you will, they were game.
You know, Mike Lombardi playing into it. Who are you most excited to get?
Who will, when they arrived in your inbox, we're like, oh, I'm so glad this person got back to me.
Probably the bone man. Because that was the last one to come in. Okay. And I wasn't sure if it was
going to come in. And then, like, him going into the, like, the very specific left-leaning libertarian thing was very funny.
to me and I had forgotten that there was a hentai reference in the prompt and so when he
nailed that delivery I lost it that's when I texted Julia I was like oh my god wait till you see
this cameo that we got yeah that was pretty good well done as all but everybody everybody was game
so we appreciate that okay that'll do it for this very special episode of the ph.LY Eagles
podcast another ospreys in the books we'll see you I don't know who knows
that's the beautiful thing about the auspies.
You never know when they're going to pop up.
Thank you to Fran.
Thank you to Zach.
Thank you to Julia.
Thank you to Marissa and the Sickos and all the cameo people.
And I don't know, most of all, but I mean, what a performance.
Thank you to Matt Quinn of Mount Joy once again, September 20th at the Man Center.
Looking forward to that.
What a ride.
What a ride it's been.
That'll do it.
We'll talk to you on Saturday and then on Monday at 2 o'clock.
For all of us here at PHLY, a little friend, friend, friend, friend, friend, friend, friend.
And as always, we love you.
