P.H.L. Eagles podcast on a Friday, March 22nd, a big day. Happy birthday, Zach Berman.
I appreciate that. Thank you. Nowhere. I'd rather spend it than with you and Joy in this studio doing a good show.
Well, we are excited about that. We are going to continue our discussion of the bottom of the roster Eagles players, but we're not calling the bottom of the roster to you, maybe, but we are giving them the time that they deserve.
I'm going to talk about who has the best chance of making this Eagles roster.
A few months down the line.
I think at some point today, Zach's going to have a little discussion about Big Blue,
but we can get to that in a little bit.
And also, we may be joined by a special guest in a little bit,
a certain former Philadelphia Eagle recently retired defensive tackle.
How about that?
Just a little something that may or may not happen on this show.
But before we do that, Zach, let's get into it because we've got a lot to do.
We've got to get through this bracket.
let's do what the experts say.
Let's talk ball at the top.
At the top.
Okay, yeah.
Enough small talk.
Let's get right into it.
My kind of show.
All right.
Noah Ellis.
Yes.
Versus Torel Lewis being on the active roster all year long.
And those of you who are joining us who didn't watch yesterday's show, let's just very give.
Shame on you.
Give you some time to go back and watch that episode because that's what you should be doing.
But we have created a bracket, March Madness.
We've got 32.
two players on the Eagles roster.
Most of them, the stakes for them are, will they, do they have a chance to be on the
week one opening day active roster, the 53-man roster?
For some of these other guys, it's a little bit different.
So Terrell Lewis, who is a former, I believe, third round pick or fourth round pick,
third round pick in 2020.
He's only 26 in August.
He had six sacks in his career.
This is a guy who was productive at Alabama, but he's bouncing.
around the league. He's been with the Rams, the Bears, the Saints practice squad, and he signed
with the Eagles in January, Zach. Who has a better chance with the Eagles? Him on the active roster
all year long, or Noah Ellis, of course, the brother of Christian. Yeah, I'm going with Noah Ellis,
the brother of Christian because I think the Eagles are going to need to back up nose tackle.
The barrier for entry, if you will, for Noah Ellis to make the 53 is beating out more than
two to Pilotsu, PJ Mustafa, and then maybe they,
draft somebody.
But for Terrell Lewis to be on the active roster all season long, I think the odds are against
that.
I think there's a better chance Noah makes the 53 out of the jump.
Interesting.
I think I would have leaned Terrell Lewis only because they need that body type when, let's
say, like Zach Bond suffers an injury, then they're going to need somebody else there.
But he's probably bounced around the league for a reason.
I'm not going to argue with you on your birthday.
And I'm certainly not going to argue with you about staying in the Ellis family.
So I'll give you no Ellis.
I don't know.
My picks aren't very good.
So.
So far.
All right.
Next up,
Licitis Smith, the offensive lineman,
who is 6-3-314.
He was a sixth rounder with the Houston Texans,
signed with the Eagles practice squad in November.
Did not test very well in the pre-draft process,
but has like long arms and that type of body type.
Yeah, or Shaq Davis.
I'm sorry, and he is going up against Chiquon Davis, the wide receiver, who is 6-5-215,
when undrafted last year, 24 years old, from South Carolina State and has been on a bunch of
signed release from the practice squad on a couple teams.
Yeah, I'm going with Smith here.
There's going to be some open spots available on the offensive line for the Eagles.
He has some draft pedigree.
The Eagles brought him in last year to be on the practice squad for a reason, and so it has
some developmental time there with Jeff Stoutland now gets a full offseason here. Among these two,
I just think it wouldn't surprise me if an undrafted receiver or futures contract receiver
pushes his way onto the 53, but I think there's a better path for an offensive lineman.
I agree with you. We move on now to, I would say, one of the real star-studded matchups
of this first round. This is the big one. This is the Kentucky, Oakland, or maybe the, I thought
Gonzaga-McKnees was going to be a great game. That was the one I was looking forward.
to the most and the Gonzaga just blew him out.
Anyway, we're going.
Julian O'Quara is going to be on the active roster all year long.
Julian O'Quara, of course, of the O'Quara family, him and Romeo, who just stepped
away.
He is of the O'Chorra family, correct?
26 years old, nine career sacks, including five with Detroit in 2021, former third round pick,
64-239.
He goes up against Yaboy, Tyrion Davis-Price, another former third-round pick of the
San Francisco 49ers.
This is a big boy, 6-1-219.
He had 40 carries in two seasons with the Niners in a very running back friendly offense
and average just three yards per carry.
Zero receptions over the course of that time.
Ran a 4-48 in the pre-draft process but had bad agility.
TDP or J-O.
Where are you going?
Yeah, this is one of those like Caleb Love plays against a UNC where the networks love it, right?
this is a great matchup here.
This is huge.
This is doing box office.
Yes.
And you love a J.O.
Julian O'Quara,
by...
In honor of Julio being on their thumbnail, at least.
I really liked
Joyne O'Quarrar coming out of Notre Dame.
And...
Of the O'I. Quara family.
Of the O'I.
A greed, the Eagles need that type of body type
here. Davis Price.
him some money and you know what there's not let's see what they do in the draft at running
back but outside of your top two you don't know who's who's going to make it they're probably
have four on on the 53 i guess i would go davis price but i really wish i really wish o'quara
was going up against like no one time exactly championship caliber teams you hate to see in place
early i wish i wasn't burning this in the first round that's why the selection committee is so good
There's one like a little later on.
That's what this is why they're so good.
Yeah, we have an Austin Wachage Jr.
Taryn Jackson one coming up where I'm like,
I don't really love this matchup,
but the Davis Price O'Quara matchup,
that can go far.
I think I would go O'Cora.
Okay.
I'm betting against Davis Price
just knowing that he was like discarded by that offense.
I don't know.
I mean, they gave him money,
but they gave O'Quara money too.
You're the birthday boy.
Let's go, let's go,
O'Quarr, Davis Price.
The Eagles have already done that with Trey Sermann,
where they take the Niners, former third-round pick.
But he made it, I guess they claimed him,
and then the next year he didn't make it.
Yeah.
So, yeah, I like joining O'Quarr,
and I actually think that his body type
and his skill set would be a welcome part of the Eagles group.
And we'll see what happens in the draft.
I have a mock draft up where the Eagles gone with an edge rusher.
But if they don't go with an edge rusher,
it's even more likely that a guy like O'Quara or Lewis makes it.
Happy to see Andrew in the chat, who filled in for us on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.
He saw me wear this shirt, and he is happy to see it once again.
Happy to close out the week, five for five.
Yeah, we'll have a whole thing on that shirt a little later.
I do want to tell the audience, though, that if you see Andrew's headshot there, that's not a picture of Miles Taylor.
That is Andrew Frazier.
Okay, that is Andrew Frazier.
It's not like he Googled Miles Teller and put that in there.
We have a whole thing on the shirt later?
No, I just mean we should devote time to like five days in a row wearing this shirt, the commitment to the bit.
At what point in the week where you're like, all right, let's just roll with this all week long?
What happens to that shirt winning?
Oh, no, no, no.
I decided on Monday I was going to wear it five days in a row.
Oh, wow.
Okay.
Yeah.
I mean, you, some people let things roll off their shoulders.
You are terrific.
You'd be like a great, like, person to be inducted into Hall of Fame, you know?
Interesting.
Because like Michael Jordan, you know, he's just talking about every slight that he's ever had.
I imagine when Tom Brady goes in, he's going to be talking about every slight he's ever had.
You got that Jordan Brady like, oh, I will not forget you said this.
Well, it's more just I can turn this into a thing.
I mean, we got to fill a show every day.
You got to have a hook.
That's what makes you great.
All right.
Wait, you don't think Jacob Harris versus PJ Mustifer's the hook?
Yeah, I think you're right.
Okay.
Let's do that.
PJ Mustifer, who you talked about gave us the Skinny on a few days ago, although 6-4-318, more like maybe not so much the skinny.
He's going up against Jacob Harris, a former mid-round pick of the Los Angeles Rams.
I remember they were very excited about him the summer that he was drafted.
This is a guy who tested out of the gym in the pre-draft process was a wide receiver tight-end hybrid, but has not had success in the NFL.
he is 6-5-219, fourth-round pick in 2021, ran a 4-4-3,
actually recruited to play Division I soccer.
Zach, Jacob Harris, before he walked on at Western Kentucky,
then went to Central Florida.
One career catch for six yards for Jacob Harris,
who, if you look at the mock draftable comps,
come to Big Bob Davis, our old friend.
Who had a big catch for the Eagles.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You know what?
I was thinking Jacob Harris on this when I was prepping for the show.
just because that the height weight speed combo,
the fact that he did spend some time with the Rams,
I heard he was actually a very proficient special teams player
when he was with the Rams.
So maybe he makes it there.
I think he's got a better shot at Tite End.
Let's move him to Tide End.
Howie loves a tight end project.
Oh, yeah, exactly.
By the way, I want to get into the Howie Andrew Berry thing in a minute.
Okay, yeah, I like that.
Maybe after our guest.
That's getting a little steam on social today.
Oh, you're getting more?
You're getting steam on?
it? Yeah, Busting with the boys.
Let's talk about that up.
Let's talk. Oh, that really?
Bussing with the boys picked that up, yeah.
What did they say?
Taylor Luan and Will Compton.
What did they say?
They just, they said this is awesome and like put a, put a.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
I have a take here.
I got to say, by the way, I took the screenshot.
Yeah.
Just like the text of you.
I didn't think it was going to be disseminated all.
Like, I put it up there.
I didn't expect it to be something that actually caught steam.
So I could have caught a different frame of, of the,
of the video there, but you can still make out what it said.
I have a take here.
Yeah, let's hear.
Now that we have seen that Andrew Barry has Howie's on his ball,
after you showed us how he has Theo Epstein.
My understanding is how he and Theo have talked in the past, right?
Presumably so?
Presumably so.
I think this is a bit.
I think they're playing a game.
I think this is a fun thing they do to make themselves laugh
is they put a quote from their friends who have a similar job on the board,
and it's like, oh, see if you can catch this that I have this on.
Like, I think there's something going on here.
I disagree with you.
First off, the Howie quotes not attributed, or the Theo Epstein quote in Howie's office,
it's not attributed.
You just think it's like a mission statement.
Yeah, but that's like, it's like Howie took it to the next level.
He's like, oh, you think that's good.
Watch, I'm going to put it in wallpaper.
Yeah, I don't know because this is, Andrew Barry has a series of quotes.
We can't see the other ones on there, but we can see the Howley one.
The quote, by the way, is to win a Super Bowl.
you either need the best player in parentheses, e.g. Tom Brady,
or make a decision that could cost you your job.
So it's essentially about being bold, I suppose.
And, you know, I know Andrew Barry has a lot of reverence for Howie
in that he once described Howie as the best GM in all of sports
after going to Cleveland, just in terms of kind of the way he manages things
and the creativity with which Howie utilizes.
but this is on a whiteboard,
so it's not a permanent thing.
Maybe it's like an off-season one.
He's thinking about the decision,
and then there's different in-season one.
Who knows?
That's the great thing about a whiteboard.
But this is kind of...
That is.
That's the great thing about a whiteboard.
Yeah.
Look, I'm a sucker for quotes.
You know that.
You are.
That's a great thing about a whiteboard.
So anyway, so when I was watching this James thing,
and I'm scrolling through and I'm like,
wait, what is this?
that and they said oh that's howie roseman and i thought i texted you find when that howie roseman quote
was said oh no and it might not i mean perhaps it was like in a letter that he sent him or something of
that nature the the parenthetical makes me think that it was not said it was written right right
because you would put e g tom brady correct if you're writing something not necessarily if you're
saying something uh but i've heard howie kind of talk about this this general sentiment before
I think it's a game.
I don't think it's a game.
You think everything's a bit.
Yeah, well.
Sometimes people are just earnest.
I guess that's true.
Yes.
Do we, is he, Julia's, is our guest on?
All right.
Well, this is very exciting.
Ladies and gentlemen.
We got Fletcher.
A special surprise in the middle of Zach's birthday episode.
Please welcome to the show.
Fletcher Cox.
Surprise.
Happy birthday, Zee, B.
Your fan club loves me.
you more than you'll ever know.
Hope you have a great rest of the show,
and we can't wait to celebrate you this weekend.
Love you.
Bye.
Happy birthday, Daddy, we love you.
We got him.
Thank you.
Thank you for doing that.
That's sweet.
I appreciate that.
That's my wife and my kids reading Sloan.
I'm a little taking it back right now in a second.
Thank you.
Thank you, Bo.
that was really nice and thank you.
And we read them trying to keep it together here.
Wait, but are, is Fletcher coming on?
No.
God, all right.
Whoa, what we got here?
Oh, man.
I appreciate it.
What we have here, Zach?
There's a little birthday treat for you.
It's Krispies treats.
Some Rice Krispies treats.
Did you make these?
Made these this morning.
We had the recipe that of friends.
sent that a listener sent us?
Wow.
First of all, thank you.
I'm taken back by M.O.
and Reed and Sloan being up there.
Thank you for doing that.
That was really nice.
Enjoy you.
Thank you.
Don't thank me.
Thank Emily and the kids.
I'm going to, wow.
I was really kind of, I was prepping for Fletcher.
I told you earlier in the week that I think we might have a chance to get Fletcher on the show.
I was listening through and trying to figure out.
Trying to think out what I was going to ask.
And I text you guys today. Can I promote this?
And I said, well, why don't you wait and see Justin's?
Yeah. Oh.
Wow. Okay. So Rice Krispy treats.
Rice Krispies treats.
And thank you, Emily and Reid's song.
This is the Orrin Berks.
This is the Orrin Berks. Is this with the recipe that was suggested to us with the brown
butter? Yes, it is.
And this sounds like a very ignorant question.
I always see like brown butter chocolate chip cookies.
And I like, like, what exactly is brown butter?
It's about like how long you let the butter melt.
Gotcha.
Okay.
You melt it long enough.
It gets this nuttiness.
Oh, okay.
So there you go.
Should I eat it on air?
Yeah, why don't we eat it on air?
To Zach Berman.
Very good.
Orange Booksh...
What were you good?
What were you safe?
It wasn't good.
Julia, we got you one.
Yeah, this is not great podcasting right now.
Yeah, man.
Hearing me chew.
Wow.
Should I give like a review of this?
Yeah, sure.
It's chewy.
The, you can taste the Rice Krispies and the marshmallow and the brown butter.
Really well done.
So thank you for the recipe.
I give great respect to Rice Krispy Treats.
I still stand by what I said that if I'm at a party and I have, there's Rice Krispy
Treats and fresh baked cookies and cake.
Well, really, you're a cookie guy.
Yeah, the Rice Krispy Treats probably not.
not my top choice. But if this is like dessert for the day or for the night, this is terrific.
So I should have been on to you, by the way, that, man, all right.
So let's play it back.
So I'm having a hard time here because I'm so, I'm so touched. Like, A, by you and
Julia doing that, B, especially Emily and Reed and Sloan. At the same time, I was hoping to talk to
Fletcher Cox.
So, I mean, I don't want to seem like I'm unappreciative here.
And I don't want to seem like I'm dejected.
Because that would certainly give the poor, like, I'm five years into this, I'm still
not living down.
I have the rest of my life with these kids lines.
So I need to be mindful with what I said.
By no means, though, I want to say I'm more excited for Fletcher Cox than seeing
my wife and my children.
But within the context of today's show and Fletcher Cox retiring,
we could talk to Fletcher at some point.
But that was really nice that you did that.
I was, yeah, I was, I was curious if, if, Emily was on her computer the other day and then, like, she closed it.
And she's not like, you know, she's not like looking at things.
that you would close it quickly for.
So I wonder.
Well, how do you know?
I wondered if.
Maybe she's heard about this Julio Jones all of a sudden.
So I wondered if she was up to something,
but I thought it was maybe like a birthday gift
or something of that nature.
But this is, this is a birthday gift.
This is awesome.
Yeah.
And I'm very, I'm very appreciative.
Very appreciative.
Thank you for putting that together.
Yeah.
So, I told you there, yeah.
Yeah.
That's a good surprise, guess.
I didn't think, I didn't think, I didn't know.
know if you, I thought maybe you didn't think that I knew that it was your birthday coming up.
I'm not like a huge birthday guy.
And then Jamie, shout on to Jamie Lynch, sends the slack this morning.
Happy birthday, Zach.
So then I'm texting Julia like, oh, here we go.
Now we got to play it off.
Like, oh, Zach, happy birthday.
I totally forgot.
Well, I mean, it would be okay.
It's not, it's a birthday.
It happens every year.
I mean, you are, you are Mr. Let's make this the best year ever.
You got to celebrate.
Exactly.
Yeah.
but I'm not like a big birthday celebrator per se
Listeners of the show knows that Emily threw a surprise party for me last year that you were at
And I make the joke that whenever you can celebrate your 37th birthday
You should have a surprise party, right?
But yeah, this is a that was a cool treat
And this is a cool treat as well.
Did you bake these yourself?
I did, yeah, they're very easy to do
Yeah, well, that's the thing with Rice Krispy Trees, low barrier for entry
Yeah, so thank you.
And I certainly don't want to make this about me, but I appreciate that.
Everybody's wishing you a happy birthday.
Yeah, I think that's Emily's debut, well, it's say it's Emily's debut on the PHLY show.
She was on once before the Super Bowl, giving her, giving the kids predictions before on birds with friends.
So. There you go.
Yep.
So PJ Mustafa or Jacob Harris, who you got?
Yes.
All right, back to, I appreciate this, back to my prep work, my breaker sketcher program.
I'm going with Jacob Harris here.
I can help with special teams.
I know it might be hypocritical because I went with Noah Ellis before saying that they need a nose tackle.
I think they've got enough guys who can help on special teams.
Okay.
So I'm okay going with.
I'm okay going with PJ.
Yeah.
Penn State guy.
Owingsville, Maryland.
We need a receiver to advance at some point, though, right?
Do we?
I mean.
You're telling me they're going to draft one in the second round.
You love Paris Campbell.
Okay.
Once again, that's not how people in Montreal talk.
Yeah, but I know, but that's the thing.
And now I'll take the note that that's not how people in Montreal talk,
but that's not the point.
I'm talking about Paris.
The whole thing is for Paris.
Is it how people in Paris talk?
Oh, yeah, it's a very, very interesting difference.
No, do they go, ho-ha-ho?
Like, is that out?
Yeah, and they've got their twirly little moustaches.
That's a whole thing.
That's a generalization.
Yeah, sure.
let's let's go PJ Mastifer you know Penn State which we have a Penn State banner behind us we don't
quite have a Penn State show right now but we do have in our discord where's a Penn State channel
for the diehard to earn the Penn State so you can check that out if you're a diehard.

All right, Zach, a matchup of defensive backs now.
Mario Goodrich, who would have won this game?
last year. Now, maybe not. We wouldn't have given him the win, but he is a guy who
would have fit this category. His second year with the team went out and earned a roster
spot, and then the Eagles sort of proved that they didn't really believe in him that much.
They gave him one shot and then let him go after that. But Mario Goodrich is back. He's
going up against Tristan McCollum, who, of course, is from the McCollum family.
Of course, yes. He and Zion, and he is a safety who showed a little bit of something and was
elevated for a couple games to play special teams last year. Yeah, I'm going with Tristan McCollum here.
The safety corner versatility helps. It was more of a safety. But I think that he showed a little more
last year. Goodrich was kind of the nickel by default last year, but they clearly were looking to
bring someone over him. I like both those guys, but Zion McCollum, I'm sorry, Tristan McCollum,
I always enjoy talking to him as a twin brother to Zion. And I always always
got a kick out of
before the bucks,
the first bucks game,
the bucks game,
he goes,
I want to remember
when Tristan was on
practice squad,
you would think
that they would make
Tristan Zion on the scout team.
They did not do that.
And it still mystifies me
why they would not do that.
It's like,
you want to prep for this guy.
Why don't you have this someone
who is his twin brother
looks exactly like him,
sounds exactly like him,
rather than just putting like
another random guy out there.
So I never understood
why they didn't do that.
But they clearly don't think about this as much as I think that's a good take.
Yes.
All right.
Now we have an offensive line matchup.
La Raven Clark.
La Raven, of course, is French for The Raven.
And he's going up against Brett Tooth.
A couple guys who have been here for a while.
Yeah.
Brett Tooth, they've been working them at center in recent years.
And so that center versatile, he wasn't particularly good at it during training camp.
Snapping at least.
Snapping, yeah, snapping.
But even when he went elsewhere, he went to Carolina,
the Eagles brought him back when Carolina waved him.
You broke the news to me on the show, if you recall.
Yes.
That he had been back for a couple months, a couple weeks.
Yeah, and I did not see him because Brett Tooth and I, we always get along.
They wrote a story about him once.
Yeah, yeah, I did.
I sat down with him for a while.
We spoke about that.
I spoke to Jeff Monkin, the head coach at Army.
And he had been coached very specifically to have to say thank you to President Trump
for making this happen, right?
Yes.
Yeah, I think so.
I'm staying away from that one, but yeah, I believe so.
We'll just a little peek into how things work.
Yeah, but Brett Tooth, I do know that La Raven Clark is someone that they value because of, but...
The Raven Clark is going to be 31 this season.
Yeah.
So there's a reason why they signed him because they like him, but I'm going with Brett Tooth because of the ability to snap.
Okay.
I mean, I don't feel strongly about that one either.
I'm going to let you have that one.
Okay.
All right. Here's the one that you talked about that you were very excited for.
Austin Watkins Jr., who is 26 years old, undrafted in 2021.
He has been all over the place at 6-3-2-10.
He has been in the CFL, on a CFL practice squad.
In the USFL, he was on the Browns practice squad last season, then was released,
signed with the Eagles earlier this off-season.
He's going up against Tehran Jackson, the Eagles' former sixth round pick,
who played a little bit as a rookie.
not so much the next year, not at all last year.
Yeah, so I want to just give a mention here for transparency that the players that
the Eagles signed to future deals who were not on the practice squad, we haven't like seen
them yet, right?
So, and if they weren't a guy like Joey and O'Cquara and Terrell Lewis who've played like
snaps in the NFL really, there's practice squad film.
I got to be honest, in my prep here, I didn't go crunching the Browns practice
squad of film from last year.
but I just don't have a lot of insight on some of these guys.
To Ron Jackson, I've seen him.
The deals drafted him.
I've written about him, nice guy.
But I kind of look at it like he's had three chances to make the,
or he's had two chances to make the team.
Well, and also you could talk yourself into this as a defensive scheme change.
Maybe this will help him.
And he is unfortunately the kind of body type who I think this change hurts.
Like I don't think they have a need for it.
Teran Jackson potty type.
Yeah.
So I am going with Watkins here, but for all I know, he could be like a bad wide receiver.
He could be the guy that they release in a month to make room on the roster.
I don't know.
I'm trying to be transparent.
I don't know much about him.
But he is the kind of guy who I'm intrigued by because he comes from nothing.
Exactly.
You know, there's no reason that he should have been given a shot.
Yes.
So whatever he has, he has earned.
And I believe he was the leading receiver for the Browns.
In preseason.
In the preseason last year.
Yeah.
Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Austin Watkins moves on.
All right, the last matchup of the first round.
Running back, Lou Nichols.
Now I love the spelling of Lou here.
L-E-W, very phonetic.
You don't see that a lot.
You love that.
Lou Nichols, a seventh round pick last year.
He's one of the few who spells it like that.
Few who spells it Lou.
Exactly, yes.
Yeah, I mean, it would be great in flu world order.
7th round pick with the Packers last year out of Central Michigan
had a really good beginning to his career at Central Michigan
then tailed off a little bit 510-220
ran just a 4-6-1 in the pre-draft process
was waived from injured reserve with the Packers
and then was on the practice squad for the Eagles
over the course of the season.
Has a little bit of pass-catching chops in his background.
He's going up against Ben Van Sumeran
and the odds for Ben Van Sumer in here,
the stakes rather, are top two in the Eagles
in snaps at off-ball linebacker
over the course of the season.
So the Orrin Burks, the Rice Krispy Treats signing,
he, he...
How judge you do we have to be about, like,
the amount of Rice Krispy Streets that Zach's going to eat or not?
Because it's on the screen.
I can see, you know, you're nibbling,
but you're not taking it to town.
Well, I mean, first off, I have birthday cake.
got, and we made homemade birthday cake.
I am, I'm probably the only 38 year old who still gets like a football birthday cake.
You know what I mean?
Like that?
Yeah.
She got like, you know, the green and the white and the brown icing, right?
Oh, nice.
She does the football and the football field.
Love that.
I'm really like, oh, yeah.
I'm touched by like how, how nice that is to do.
It's just, I feel like I'm eight years old.
Like the football.
She could have just done like the plain icing, happy birthday.
and I'd be fine with that.
I so appreciate it.
I know, I appreciate it.
I know, I appreciate it.
No, because she's going to watch this right.
I so appreciate it.
It was so nice.
I just saw it this morning.
And here, I'll actually pull up the cake for you.
I'm not going to.
It's hard to put it on the screen.
What's that?
You send it to Julia.
She can put it up.
Okay.
No, no, Zach, that's the hentai tab.
Here, let me, let me screenshot.
this and send it to
this is good podcasting right here
here we go okay right here's the
birthday cake nice yeah that's good looking
here let me so here you can fill the time as I
screenshot this but that's all a way of saying
that I need to pace myself a bit
with the desserts
okay and so where does
where do Lou Nichols and
Ben Van Van Sumeran factor into your decision making.
I'm going with Ben Van Sumeran.
I'm going with Ben Van Van Sumer in here.
Now, this is all the way of saying, before Orrin Berks was signed,
Ben Van Van Van Zumerman was the third guy up there.
They could still draft someone, but you're thinking,
all right, Nicobie Dean doesn't have this great history of health with the Eagles.
Sure.
Right?
So there's not much a barrier for him being there.
The thing is this, I look at the Eagles' recent history of linebackers,
and it doesn't take much for the for like the afterthought guy to become the starter.
That's true.
And Lou Nichols, who was on the practice by last year, like a strong, compact guy.
But I think that they'll probably draft the back.
They have Davis Price in there.
I'm expecting Van Sumer to be on the team.
So I think there's a, there's an outside chance of Ben Van Sumeran.
Yeah, I think that's fair.
I my my bias is to Lou Nichols over Tyrion Davis Price for the reasons that I've said I look forward to seeing him in training camp but I think for the reasons you've outlined that makes a little bit of sense so congratulations to the entire fansumer and family for moving on to the second round and now we can get to the second round because this show is cruising and you know we still got to hear about Zach's Kentucky takes so oh yeah I have a big apology to the audience why it's coming it's just you
Just your prediction.
You're the one who suffers.
They didn't do anything wrong.
No, I have a huge apology coming.
But let's work on this game.
Wow.
Okay.
All right.
Let's speed through the second round and then we can take some time after that.
Devin White is on the team in 2026 or Zach McPherson is on the week one roster.
I am going with Devin White is on the team in 2026 because there is a world that exists or Devin White's good, right?
I understand there's reasonable and justified.
Bible skepticism based on the way last year went.
But if Devin White is good, the Eagles might say, like, look, this guy has been a top talent
before.
He's 27 years old at this time next year, right?
He showed you that one year.
Let's keep him in the building.
So I think there is...
This is three years down the line, just 26 is...
Oh, I thought...
Okay, I'm sorry.
I was thinking 25.
Yeah, no, that's why we're...
That's why I'm making...
A little bit pie in the sky.
Oh, okay.
Well, then maybe he signs a two-year deal then.
Sure.
I mean, I think the odds are that Devin White's probably still going to be in the league in 2026,
so it could be with the Eagles.
I'm going with that.
Over Zach McPherson.
Yeah.
Okay.
Do you disagree?
Not strongly.
I think that's fine.
Okay.
Next up, Keely Ringo starts all 17 games or Grant Kalkatera has 20 catches.
Keely Ringo, all 17 games.
Do you disagree?
Not strongly.
Okay. Tell me when you strongly disagree.
Noah Tangii or Tyler Hall is the primary nickel.
Tyler Hall is the primary nickel.
I think Noah Tongueye.
That one I agree with.
He's got some Richard Rogers in them, but it would you like to have some?
What?
I keep going.
Dary and Kinnard is on the active roster all year long or Mackay Garner is on the week one roster.
Mackay Garner on the week one roster.
I agree with you.
Next up, Noah Ellis or Laceda Smith?
Noah Ellis is the backup nose.
You were excited for Noah Ellis going in the camera.
I was, but I've seen what I've seen what I've seen.
Geez, I don't think, I don't think no Ellis has ever been slighted like that on this show among our.
I mean, I think it's pretty well established that I'm in good graces with the Ellis family at this point.
A little too much, I would say.
Yeah, I think if the Ellis has saw you, they'd probably be like, you know, when Andrew Barry sees me next week and he's like, why you're screenshoting my office?
office.
Julian O'Quara is on the active roster all year or P.J. Mustafa.
Mustafa?
I haven't kissed her yet.
Let's go with Mustafa, I guess.
Back of nose?
Sure.
Although I do like the O'Quara family.
I kind of like O'Quara. I would go O'Quara.
He is of the O'Cquara family.
He's of the O'Cquara family.
All right.
Tristan McCollum or Brett Tooth?
Tristan McCollum.
Tristan McCollum.
Last one.
Austin Watkins Jr. or Ben Van Van Sumer in Top 2 in Snaps?
Sorry, Austin.
You're Oakland.
Although Oakland's playing, what, NC State?
So they're...
Yeah, they could keep going.
All right.

It's the NCAA tournament as, excuse me, as we've discussed, and I love watching NCAA tournament games,
and sometimes, you know, when I, if I have a free hour, I might go to the bar, sit down,
watch a few games at once, and order a nice cold Miller Light.
Because a lot's changed over the years, and one thing that hasn't is the great taste of Miller Light.
It was the original Light beer, and to this day, it's still the best one.
Miller Light has more of the taste you want and less of the stuff you don't.
there are times in life that matter most with a miller light
like watching and that's the double a tournament game
when the team you predicted the win loses
and then all of a sudden you need to suck them back even more with the boys
you're sitting around with your friends and they're saying
it's like you don't know anything about sports
and so what I like is that I can
I don't even want to say drowning my sorrows I can enjoy the good time
I can enjoy what matters
and that's being with Bo and
Julia, drinking a Miller Light.
Because what's, there's so much to like about the best light beer.
It's the clean finish that it has.
It's the simple ingredients.
And you know that because Miller Light keeps it simple.
Undebatable quality.
Great taste.
Only 96 calories.
It's the beer that strips away everything you don't need and holds on to what matters
most.
Light beer that tastes like beer.
Less filling and only 96 calories.
The original light beer since 1975.
Okay, that is 49 years old.
Times change.
Almost as old as Peyton Wilson.
We're going to have a good Peyton Wilson conversation, by the way.
Yeah, and I have a quick thing to add to that.
Times change, but you can always enjoy the great taste of Miller Light.
Tastes like Miller Time to get Miller Light delivered right to your door.
Visit millerlight.com slash P.H.L.I. Birds.
Or you can find it pretty much anywhere that sells beer.
Celebrate responsibly, Miller Brewing Company, Milwaukee, Wisconsin,
and 96 calories per 12 ounces.
So I have a mock draft up now that's for our die hearts and all p.hly.com.
Please check it out because I put thought into it and I want each mock draft before the final
one that we do to be different.
So I'm not just like repeating players.
And I intentionally change the position in the first round each time.
So you kind of have the thought exercise.
All right, if this, then that.
But anyways, I was debating which wide receiver to go with in round two.
And I was choosing between a few, and there's a few that I like.
And I know you did your work with Coach Flynn this weekend.
And there's one that is in one of our friends and another writer's mock draft in the second round.
And I texted the guy this morning, and I was like, I like him.
He's like 24 years old.
And the person said, I heard Bo in my head when I was doing this mock draft.
He texted me about it yesterday.
Oh, okay, yeah.
And I texted him this morning because I didn't have a chance to respond.
And I just looked at his stuff.
I mean, it's Van Jefferson's profile all over again.
He's old and he's never had a thousand yard season.
What are we doing?
So I went with Troy Franklin in that spot.
It's 21.
But my first three picks in this mock draft, I'll say it on air.
You can read the analysis.
Cooper DeGene and Kingsley, Sue Mattaia.
Matea and Troy Franklin, they're all like 21-year-olds who just turned 21, basically.
So there's age upside with some of those prospects.
and I bring that up because you made the Peyton Wilson joke,
but that's much harder to find in this draft especially.
We're still in the COVID, the remnants of the COVID era of college football
where guys had like six years because you still have like six years.
You guys who are like 24-year-old, six-year-old, six-year seniors, right?
And if you think about it, if you're drafting a 21,
if you're drafting Cooper to Gene who just turned 21,
where you're drafting a guy who's 24, right?
There's a three-year developmental age difference there
that you need to consider when you're drafting.
Totally.
Yeah.
We'll have time to get into all that over the next month plus.
Sorry, Julia, did you have something to say?
Yeah, I just had another little surprise for you, Zach.
A few people wanted to say something to you.
Oh, God.
Happy birthday, Zee-B.
For your 38th or 39th birthday today.
and Julie asked me to share one of my favorite memories of you from high school.
And that has to be the time you were giving a couple guys a ride home after practice.
And you stopped for gas.
And like high school guys will do, they were giving you hard time while you were pumping the gas,
throwing things at you.
And while everyone knows you is a really generous and nice young man,
you'd had enough and had a bit of, shall we say,
outburst and
use some
expletive lace language at the top
of your lungs only to
hear this nice voice say
Zachary from
across the way and
the next thing out of your mouth was
gram gram
because your grandmother had heard you
and happened to be at the gas station
so to see you kind of
squirm in those situations and that situation
was wonderful and
when I tell people that who know you they still
laugh out loud so happy birthday hope it's a great one and uh so pumped for the success you've had already
i had the pleasure of coaching zach birman at germantown academy on the 2003 and 2004 in our academic
league championship teams everyone's role may have been different on those teams but their status
was the same they were all important players on the team zach was a great teammate and everyone
loved having him on the team one day we let zach hit
and he got on first base.
I'm not sure how you got to first base, but you did.
I was coaching third base, and eventually you got to third base,
and you looked at me and said,
Coach, thank you for the opportunity.
Zach, you may have made me cry that day
for the first and only time on the baseball field.
Thank you for making me a better coach.
I look forward to listening to you more
and reading more of your stories.
Happy birthday, Zach Berman.
Oh, look at the cinematography.
That's awesome.
ZB, happy birthday to a guy that had a better batting average than Matt Ryan 21 years ago,
has climbed to the heights of Philadelphia sports media,
and has loving colleagues like Bo and Julia,
who gave all Zach's friends a good six hours.
That's awesome.
Julia, thank you.
So that's Sean Greve, Coach Cross and Pete Vernon.
That is awesome.
That is awesome.
There was one more from Zach Ristler, but I couldn't get the video to play, so I'll show it to you after.
Thank you.
I'm really grateful.
I'm a little taking a back here.
It's a 38th birthday.
I'm not retiring.
I didn't turn 60 or anything.
I literally, we needed a hook for the show.
I woke up.
I woke up.
I prepped for a show.
I was excited to talk to Fletcher cops.
I don't actively seek attention.
So this is a little, but thank you, Bo and Joya.
And thank you, Sean, and Coach Cross and Pete.
That's awesome.
There was a lot of baseball talent discussed there and me.
And there's the cake, too.
Oh, there's the cake.
That's the cake.
That's the cake, M we made.
Yeah, as you can see, I so appreciate that.
That is awesome.
yard line. Yeah. So yeah, that's, that's the, that's, that's the cake. That's really funny.
Do you want to do, do you want to give your Kentucky apology? Yes. Okay. Thank you here.
You're nothing to apologize for. I am sorry. I am sorry to the audience.
What are you sorry? I'm sorry. Because one thing that I,
among things that I, I, I try to reinforce and keep in mind and take pride in is that
don't talk about something unless like you, you have confidence.
Like, you know, you know, when I'm giving an Eagles opinion here, it's coming from a place of, like, preparation and education and nuance.
I'm not just throwing stuff out there.
I watched Kentucky basketball this year.
It's just ridiculous.
Yeah, I don't cover college basketball.
Everybody fills out their bracket.
It's a totally fine thing to do.
You weren't saying bet the house on Kentucky.
You were saying, I believe Kentucky is going to win the national championship.
That's fine.
You were wrong.
So what?
But the irony is.
I was wrong about a bunch of picks yesterday.
Okay, but the irony is this.
And Boe can attest for this, and our longtime viewers can test for us.
How many times do I say something on the air of the last five years where I couch it
and I give all these qualifiers and this, that?
When I spoke about Kentucky as if I'm like, go to mortgage CS and call them up.
And so I spoke to the whole too much.
That's actually a thing that you do.
It's when you have an opinion about something that is much more subjective, you speak definitively.
You do say that.
Yeah.
So I'm trying to lean into like the entertainment aspect of the show.
I get accused of being, well, it's probably not accused.
I get properly pegged of being a little too buttoned up.
So I'm trying to kind of let loose a bit.
But I was totally fine.
Yeah, it's a bad pick.
I will also say that whenever I'm wrong about something, I try to kind of workshop.
All right, what can I learn from this?
And I really can learn from this in terms of my football analysis in Bo makes the joke about me with first round picks,
former first round picks is that I'm a big believer in talent, right?
And I understand intangibles matter, but I always say talent matters more,
and that you can't coach talent, you can't teach talent,
and that so when I see a Kentucky team that has four guys who can score,
who can create their own shot, and they go nine deep,
and they're that talented, I lean toward those teams.
But this is something that, as I do my draft analysis here,
like there are there there there are certain intangibles and and things that go beyond height, weight, speed, and like the football skills that has to has to do with the makeup of a player and maybe the way a team's coached that I certainly need to take into account so.
Okay.
Yeah.
Yeah, I don't think you have anything to apologize to square.
All right.
Devin White is on the team in 2026.
That's three years down the line.
or Keeley Ringo starts 17 games.
Keeley Ringo starting 17 games.
Now, if they draft the first round corner, that's in question.
But I can see Keeley beating out James Bradbury.
I still would not rule out the Eagles trading for a corner.
Yeah, me neither.
I think the Devin White thing is possible.
Like if he is good this year, I could see them signing him to a longer term deal.
But I guess I'm fine with Ringo.
Okay.
That's possible.
By the way, if they draft a corner in the first round, are you expecting that guy to start?
Yes.
Okay.
Definitely.
Yeah.
Tyler Hall is the primary nickel or Mackay Garner makes the week one roster?
Tyler Hall is the primary?
Actually, no.
No, let's go Mackay Garner.
I go McCoy Garner.
Yeah, I'm good with that.
I think there's a little flexibility there.
This is the Mario Goodrich Path.
I think he's a better player than Goodrich was last year.
So I'm willing to go Garner.
I like that.
Yeah.
Get the year of.
development, that big jump from year one to year two. I'm okay with that. Noah Ellis,
your boy, or Julian O'Quara is on the active roster all year?
You join O'Quara. Of the O'Quara family. You're sticking with the J.O.
I'm sticking with a talented edge rusher who can drop in the coverage.
It comes from the O'Quara family. Congratulations to all of them. Tristan McCollum,
or Ben Van Sumer in the top two in snaps at linebacker.
This is just Tristan McCollum, making the 53.
Correct. Tristan McCollum making the 53.
Okay, why do you think that?
I think there's going to be a spot up for grabs there and Van Sumer.
I'm okay with going with Van Sumer in here.
I know they like the way he closed the season.
He'll have a full year.
It's just you're going to need Devin White or Nicobo Dini get hurt
and Orrin Burke's not to be good or in Orenbergs to get hurt
and then not to draft someone over Van Sumeran.
But no, let's go Van Sumeran.
All right, Van Sumer and it is.
Final four.
Keeley Ringo starts 17.
games or Mackay Garner makes the week one roster.
Keeler Ringo starts 17 games.
But I don't say this with the same conviction that I said Kentucky yesterday.
I think I'd lean Garner.
17 games is just even if he wins a starting job, he's going to stay healthy for 17
games.
But I don't, I think it's, I think this is a close to a toss-up.
What do you think?
You're going Ringo?
I'm going Ringo.
All right.
But I've always been a Ringo guy.
It's your birthday.
We'll let you have.
We'll let you have.
We've already established a birthday thing.
We don't have to keep milking it, but I appreciate that.
Speaking of milking it, Julian O'Quara is on the active roster all year,
or Ben Van Sumeran is in the top two in snaps at linebacker.
Well, so I'm compelled to go BVS here, but I kind of think that the spirit of the game.
I know.
Well, that's the problem.
That's why I would have gone Mackay Garner in the last round.
All right, so let's go O'Quarrie here.
I think of these guys, Mackay Garner would be my pick-to-click.
Of all these guys who has the best chance to make the week one roster,
it would be between him and Julian O'Quara, probably.
Yeah, then let's go O'Quara here.
Okay.
All right, before we...
By the way, O'Quara was on the Lions for three years, right?
And then part of last year, he got waived late in the year,
but it's certainly not far-fetched to think that.
And the Eagles signed him quickly.
Yeah.
Yeah, I think that's fair.
I mean, he's obviously he's, you know, five-sack season.
He's a guy with who has some pedigree.
All right, before we get to the final matchup
between Kili Ringo and Julian O'Cquara,
Julia, do we have one more message?
Oh, my goodness.
I really am appreciative.
I don't want to sound like I'm not.
One more, very special.
These all have been special, so I can't imagine what's more.
Hello, Zachary, it's me.
Emmanuel Macron, the president of France.
Just, how you say, popping in to wish you a bon anniversary from all of your friends here in Paris.
I was watching the show yesterday, and I have to say your co-host, his impression of the French was very magnificent.
The subtle differences between us and the French-Canadians, he nailed this to a tea.
So how you say kudos?
Congratulations.
You have made it to 38.
28.
28.
You are now just a year away from being as old as my wife was when we met and I was 10, 15, as you say.
So from one perpetually only teenager to another, one more time, I say, bon anniversary.
and
uh,
Fetton la mayor
a sejour
I was not expecting that.
That is
special in its own way.
I want to say something
to our audience here,
okay?
Um,
it was like 12.30 at night
uh,
in Indianapolis a few weeks ago.
I'm at the combine.
I'm sitting around the table
with a few other,
few reporters.
And we're talking about like
who's,
who's
who's the best
of this
and who's the best of that
and I said
Bo Wolf's the best host
in the city
come on
I said
because of that
no I said
Bo Wolf's the best
I said
Bo Wolf's the best host in the city
I said
his creativity
is like second to none
and
I found that
to be extremely odd
I
I
um
Paris Campbell
I did not
when they signed
Paris Cambo
I did not even
think about Paris
France.
I did not know that would result in the president of France.
Is that what Macaron is?
The president of France.
Yes.
Wishing me a happy birthday.
But I am...
I have to do with that.
That's real.
I think it shows your level of creativity.
And it makes me both excited and nervous for the Ospreys this year.
And it also makes it daunting for Julia and I to try to figure out what to do on
June 11th for Bo's birthday.
It's impressive that I knew that, right?
That's pretty good.
That's the day that I got offered a different job.
So, like, uh, I bet you're wishing that happens again.
I did today.
No, no.
That's the day when I started working with Bo, where I got offered the job that worked with Bo back in
2019, June 11th.
What a treat, Manuel Macron.
And by the way, big fan of the show, it turns out.
That's great.
Wait, real quick, a funny thing about that is, um, Bo did practice observations.
OTAs or at mini camp that day.
And the entire observations were about it being his birthday.
Do you remember that?
Only because you've mentioned it before.
I actually don't remember.
Oh, okay.
So I was like, okay, this is going to be an interesting, you know, way to do the job.
But it's been an awesome five years.
There we go.
Did you know that about Macron?
About meeting his wife at en bon pan?
No, I don't think
I don't know if you heard
I think you may have missed the
context there
People want to play it again
If you want
I think that's what you said
Did he not meet his wife
At all Bon Pan?
No, no
He was he was cans
He was 15
Oh
When she was 39
Really?
Oh goodness
Okay
I did not know that
All right
Well look I'm
I'm not
I'm staying in my lean.
I'm not judging anyone else.
Okay.
Yeah, I thought it was a good line that he said to you, but you'll have to rewatch.
Yeah, I was a little taken aback by it, but thank you for that.
I had nothing to do with it.
That's real.
I am so impressed by your creativity.
Thank you to Julia, really is what it comes down to.
All right, so Kili Ringo starts 17 games, or Julian O'Quarr is on the active roster all year long.
Let's go join O'Quarrar of the O'Quara family here.
I think there's a better chance of, well, I'd like Kili Ringo's chances of starting 17 games,
but the thing is he could get hurt, right?
They could draft a corner.
Join O'Quara, he just has to be the fourth best edge rusher, which isn't, you know,
if the Eagles don't draft an edge rusher in the first four rounds, let's say, then the guy's not guaranteed.
Especially if they trade Hassan Reddick.
Yeah, I'm expecting to trade Hassan Reddick.
Joyne O'Coir, like you said, five-sac-season, he's still young.
He's, what, 25 years old?
26 this year, I believe.
Um, he's, he is like, you're talking about an edge rusher who can drop in the coverage.
That's what he's done, right?
He is kind of that, that three, four, um, outside backer type.
So, uh, yeah, I'm going with, uh, I'm going with Julian O'Quar.
Also, it's the purpose of this game was the kind of talk about this.
Yeah, I kind of wish I had made the, the, the, the holdover guys, there are things a little bit, uh,
no, you did well.
Unreachable, more unreachable, but that's okay.
You did well.
Julian O'Quare.
Congratulations, the winner of the inaugural edition of this game, which we forgot to give a name to.
So, very exciting.
Here, can you think of one off the top of your head?
Lou World Order.
Because of Lou.
Because of Lou Nichols, yeah.
What about, is there a, we can't do anything with quackatology because that's already taken.
Is there a March Madness pun that you can do?
I think we can need something with future.
Okay.
Yeah.
Well, we'll think about it for next year.
Yeah, I don't know.
Okay. I'm sorry.
I don't have one for you.
No problem.
But the great thing for our audience is the next time that, I mean, unless Hassan Redica has traded this weekend or something like that, and there's an emergency show, the next time you see Bo and me, we are actually not going to be in the studio.
We're going to be down in Florida for my favorite event of the NFL off season.
And that is the NFL annual league meetings.
And why is it your favorite event?
It's my favorite event.
It's my favorite event because we get significant time with the coach,
Nixiriani.
It's the only time Jeffrey Lurie speaks on the record all year.
It's the opportunity to talk to Hallie Roseman after substantive things happened.
One flying moment.
That's pretty good.
Oh, I like that.
That's a good one.
Yeah.
Great job.
I did sandwich.
Thank you.
And it's a...
One shining moma.
So, okay, one shining moma.
Okay, I like that too.
And also, like, the, the combine is, like, the combine is, like, the combine is,
um, oh, it's good, like, from a reporting perspective, things haven't happened yet.
They're still putting it together.
Combine, you're also, it's a lot of, like, crowded bars, late nights.
This is more kind of, you know, laid back.
You, you know, you, you're not in a crowded spot.
You're outside.
You're a good weather.
I love springtime.
You got March Madness, the baseball season is around the corner.
And you have real substantive things to talk about.
So this is my 11th owners meetings because there were, there was two that they didn't have during the COVID years.
So I look forward to them every year.
Okay.
Well, yes, that's right.
We're going to be with you on Monday, probably not at noon a little bit later in the day,
because we're going to hope to talk to Harvey Roseman that afternoon.
So we'll do that.
And then on Tuesday at noon, after we've talked to Nick Sirion,
in the morning and then maybe another show that night after we've talked to Jeffrey
Lurie, but we are still working on the specifics there.
But we will have you covered from the owners meetings in Orlando next week.
That'll do it for this episode of the PHY Eagles podcast.
Zach Berman, happy birthday.
Let's make this the best year yet.
Well said.
That's the objective.
And for all of us here at PHLY, for Julia, all your friends, your family,
we say thank you for being you.
And as always, Zach, we love you.
Thank you.
Goodbye.
