Hello, everybody, and welcome to the P.HLY Eagles podcast live from Reading Terminal.
Bo Wolf, Fran Duffy, Zach Berman, the professor off to the side.
And we are presented by Bet365, download the Bet365 app and use code PHLY365 when you sign up.
Whatever the moment, it's never ordinary.
At Bet365, feel the energy.
Feel the excitement.
How you doing, Fran?
I'm a lot more full than I usually am when we get ready for a 2 o'clock show.
Yeah, full of crap.
Yeah, well, we'll find out.
get an hour to figure for people to decide that but uh no i'm outstanding i love coming here this is one
of my favorite places in the city uh so being able to do a show from here what could be better
Zach i'm doing great i'm so happy to be here so great to see some of our listeners in person
yes viewers in person uh the support's awesome some real sickos in the house and i will echo fran
uh i love the writing terminal been here more times than i could uh than i care to share uh i used to work
down the street, so I spent a lot of lunches here.
And this is awesome. So thrilled to be here.
We've already, we got, yeah, we got our bellies full.
It's a Dom, who is a sick of, works at De Nix.
Got that Uncle Gus's cheese steak.
Oh, my gosh.
Not full yet.
I got to indulge after the show.
I wanted to make sure I didn't overindulge before the show.
So now I got to roll back in.
You had a half a cheesecake, didn't you?
Had a half a cheese steak, yeah.
I mean, that's pretty hefty.
Is that sufficient to half?
I mean, you're better to make.
It's really good.
Yeah, it was outstanding.
Shout out of Don.
On behalf of Dom, we've got to give a shout out to the P-Lock crew, he says.
All season ticket holders, fantastic.
We got, we got, we got Claire in the house.
We met Andy Reed's mustache for the first time.
Turns out he's actually Josh Shapiro.
No, come on.
Treat the governor with a little more respect than that.
Wow.
What do you mean?
See Andy Reets mustache with more respect than that.
Great to see you.
Great to see you.
Wow.
Oh, my gosh.
He's throwing the sicko under the bus.
No, no, no.
No, the way down here.
Never stops with you.
I didn't mean it like that.
All right.
We're already off, off script three minutes into this show.
We do have to be a little bit tidier time-wise because we have a heart out of this episode.
So we're going to get to Shoehper.
I mean, listen, if you're going to keep wearing no pants, we're happy to keep doing it this way.
So we're going to get to swooper in a little bit.
But first, we do have news from the Novacare Complex, Sack.
Nick Siriani spoke.
today, very cryptic about AJ Brown, limited, limited, limited. Don't ask me about this.
But he was at practice.
Yes, he was at practice, and he spoke to reporters, the locker room sessions going on now.
He spoke about 15 minutes ago and said he's playing. He didn't make it sound as if he was 100
percent, but he said he's playing. This is according to our friend E.J. Smith and other
reporters on the scene. And from what I gather, when the injury or when the tackle occurred
in the fourth quarter, he was more concerned about his ankle than his knee. His ankle is
okay. There's a little, there's a little something with his knee, but he'll play through it.
But obviously, he's notable that he wasn't on the injury report Wednesday and then was on it on
Thursday. And the fact that he was limited on Thursday means you can deduce that he started practicing
but didn't finish practicing. He was limited. Yes, he was limited. He was limited. Not full.
That was. Oh, that's what Nick was. Oh, yes, yes. Okay. Anything else on the injury front that we need
to be concerned about? I would say no. It certainly sounds from Washington that Jonathan Allen won't play
this week. That was that was when we were monitoring. Yep. We'll see.
if the Eagles make a move with Bryce Huff
in the next 24 hours.
My guess, like we said in yesterday's show,
they're a little more patient with this.
All 53 players were
practicing at least an unlimited basis yesterday
that included Atlanta Dickerson.
So I don't anticipate anything that's
that's real worrisome.
Right now, this would be the last
elevation for Karie Blossin game.
So the Eagles are going to have to make a decision after
this week about what to do there.
But otherwise, it's a relatively
healthy team for Week 16.
seen in the season. All right. Well, I think one thing we can talk about then in that case is a bit of
a banger of an article on All-P-HL-Y.com. If you are a sicko, I hope you have read that.
Deep dive from you on Jalen Carter, Zach, and some of the things that he thinks about the game,
some passion for violence a little bit, and Clint Hertz's willingness to protect him and go to bat for him.
Yeah, I appreciate you bringing it up. And please check that out on all-P-H-L-Y.com. And like, I like using
the show for a little behind the story.
I originally pegged it for this week because one thing that was brought up to me by Clint Hurd was when I asked for examples of like game changing plays.
And the example of the game changing play that he pointed out, the first one was that fourth down against Washington.
When Zach Bond gets the credit for it, but really it was, and we talk about this on the show,
Jaylon Carter disrupts the play at the point of attack.
But what's also relevant to that is I spoke to Clint Hurd quite a bit about the New Orleans game and kind of that show of emotion that Jail and Carter had after the game.
I mean, he was taking a literal victory lap, and they had to restrain him.
And they being Clinton Hurt, Dom DeSandro, team security chief, Nick Siriani was in there.
So when a similar scene was happening last week after an inexcusable penalty, it kind of brought the light.
And I appreciate you saying, no, you can further contextualize it, which I did.
And one of the things that Clinton Hurt said, and I thought this was really telling, was that that's what he wanted to see in the Saints game.
You don't want to coach.
You don't want to have to ask a guy to have juice.
You don't want to ask a guy to have passion.
You want someone who wants to kick the bleep out of the other team.
And Jalen Carter is like that.
And so this is also relevant when you consider some of the free draft scouting reports, the red flags.
Let's take away any of the off-the-field questions.
Some of the red flags there were like, is he passionate?
Does he love football?
Does he play hard?
And from all indications, from talking to not just Clint Hurd, but guys behind the scenes,
that passion is real.
The way he is in the meeting room, like, look, he's not.
he's not leading the meeting room per se but he's asking good questions they say the types of questions
he asks about the lean of the offensive tackle about certain formations there was an example that was
used in two tight end sets can this tight end get over here to block me like questions that show
an advanced level of understanding of the position when i spoke to jelan carter about this he really
appreciated this storyline because he's like people don't know this about him he's always kind of been
assumed to be the biggest best player and that
He said his offensive background really helps him.
The fact that he played offense, he understands the way offenses think.
He didn't start playing defense until his senior year of high school.
And then the final thing I really got into was the conditioning.
Because that was the major talking point this off season.
He's taking the second most snaps among defensive tackles this year, I believe.
And he's on pace to play a greater percentage of snaps in Fletcher Cox every day.
Now, volume's different.
But it really speaks to the difference from last year when he played 48% of the snap.
and war down to this year when he's been in absolute force, even in December.
And I do think the added context for the back and forth last week is important and interesting.
And I mean, one of the money quotes here that you have from Clinturt,
if I got to sit there and encourage you to have juice and passion to go play,
I don't need to be coaching you.
Every day that you come in here, you should be ecstatic and fired up to put a helmet on
and go kick the S out of people, which I think that's great.
That's what you want from your defensive tackle, your star player, right?
Exactly. Absolutely.
Now, Fran, yes.
Did Julia just text you to tell you to take your, like, cavernous water bottle off the set?
Not only did Julia text me, but my wife texted me, Meg texted me, and also, the chat apparently was all saying it.
So, yeah, now there's a universal thought like this.
It was just four guests today.
I've got a little bit more space.
Julia said we can't fit four people on here and then you bring a mountain like that.
It's important to stay hydrated.
I don't know what to tell you.
Yeah, you're keeping villages hydrated.
A lot of sodium in that cheese steak, right?
Exactly.
Okay.
All right, friend.
You got a chance to watch yesterday's show.
You saw you saw some of the conversation we've had about this matchup, but what did Denny's for, what did he forget?
What did he forget?
Because he's coming at you, or Zach was coming at you for, he's got better numbers than you do in the chat.
So I want you to take this opportunity to maybe puff your chest out and say, you have things.
that Danes does not have.
I love how it's, oh, Dainez was coming at you and Zach was doing this,
but you were the one that left my name off the invite list for Detroit to make the,
we know you're going to be on the Australian game with the Senior Bowl.
No, look, I think going into this matchup, there are obviously a lot of layers to it.
Look, Jadenal's playing at a higher level now than what he played in week 11.
That's right.
Dennis did not say that.
That's true.
He's a little healthier now than he was.
That rib injury seems to be in the past.
So I think that that is a bright sign for Washington in this offense.
At the end of the day, though, I look at this team.
This is a team that has nine wins and they have not beaten a team of the winning record.
They're the only team with their winning record in football that is yet to beat another team with a winning record.
I think when you look at them on both sides, certainly offensively, they've been extremely efficient.
They've been explosive.
Run game has been really, really good for them.
But ultimately defensively, they're still waiting for that next step.
I think getting Marshawn Latimore in the lineup, that's certainly a change from week 11.
The secondary is going to be a new look group on the back end.
But ultimately, I think talent wins out here.
I just don't think they have the horses defensively to keep up with the Eagles in this matchup.
Let me ask you this.
From an offensive game plan standpoint, last week, obviously they were, whether it's because they knew that the Steelers want to play single high and whatever,
and our path to success is to pass the ball, or it was a direct answer to all the conversation of the week.
But they come out, you know, they come out and empty.
They're trying to throw from the opening drive.
Do you think they're approaching this game as we want to prove that we can throw again, or is it going back?
back to what they did in that first commanders matchup,
and we are just going to ride Sequin until you finally bust.
Well, I think the big thing to remember from that one is that the commanders did a good job of stopping Sequin,
stopping the run game in the first half.
And it wasn't until you got into the fourth quarter where the dam really broke
and you saw those big runs from Sequan really hit.
I think when you look at that game and going back and rewatching it this past week,
yeah.
The past game, there was like a calamity.
That was the game where you had A.J. Brown and Devante Smith run into each other in the end zone.
You had drops.
So you had Devante dropping the ball along the sideline.
You had unfortunate sacks.
You had Jalen Hertz stepping up in the pocket and getting sacked by Frankie Louvue.
It was just a sloppy game overall from the past game.
And even in the run game, assignments weren't great up front along the offensive line.
The slanting from Washington's group really gave them trouble early on in this game.
I think they look, when you look at the way that Washington played the Eagles back in week 11,
they came in focused on stopping the run.
They said, we're going to go and we're going to put six guys up on the line of scrimmage.
We're going to really load the box and force this passing game.
to beat us. And for the most part, because of the inconsistencies there, they weren't able to do it.
You know, they left a lot of meat on the bone there from a past game standpoint in that game.
My guess is they're going to come out, and it's going to look a little similar to what we saw a
week ago because I think that's the way that Washington is going to try and forcing the play.
Far be it for me, but I'm sorry, far be it for me to deviate from the conversation.
But there was a comment on the screen from Mrs. Duffy.
And so when a wife chimes in, we need to recognize that, right?
And so I think that, yeah, you guys were talking.
And I think it's important that she's watching.
She chimes in.
She was commenting about the size of the water bottle and said it takes up the entire space on the kitchen counter back home.
So no one should feel, she said no one should feel bad about pointing that out because it takes up the kitchen counter real estate.
Listen, we have a very selfish of you.
Look, she has 97 water bottles.
So, you know, I have my one giant one.
But she can efficiently spread those out.
There it is right there.
Yeah.
So it's a, it's a running joke of our house.
whenever she comes on with a new water bottle, me and Francis look at each other like,
here we go again, another water bottle.
So it goes both ways.
That's very funny.
You would shower with that thing too?
Every once in a while.
I got hydrated everywhere.
Yeah, I guess that's fair.
So do you think that, I mean, I am more curious to see how the offense comes out than I am about the defense this week.
Is it the same for you?
Yeah, absolutely.
I think when you're looking at this game, we talked earlier this week about the Pittsburgh game,
and certainly there were strides that the past game made, and, you know,
Jaylin was so efficient in the first half.
We love seeing that fast start from that group that had been unable to do that for the majority of this season.
But you saw some of those same inconsistencies crop up in the second half.
And so now I want to say, all right, can they come out basically do it again?
And this defense is nowhere near as talented and as execution oriented as last week's group was against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
But it's still a good test.
And honestly, it's going to be their best test from now until the playoffs.
I have a question about.
Meg.
Meg.
Meg.
Meg.
about your numbers, which are awesome.
But not as good as day nils.
No, they're both very good.
17, 13.8%.
Stuff like that.
Do you find that the sample size is large enough when you talk about the success rate against empty, right?
Because when Washington's 21st in the league against empty, would you look at that
and say this is a team that struggles against empty, so therefore the Eagles should play
it more often?
Or do you say the sample size for something that micro?
is too limited to really get a good gauge.
Good question. I would say that
a little bit of both. I do
think that that's when you kind of go into the film and say,
all some of the issues that they have had,
are they replicable for us
going into this game? That's what Kellynne Moore,
Nick Siriani, that whole offensive staff,
they're going into that watching all of the empty
sets against that defense and saying,
okay, where have they given up plays?
Is this something that we can try and replicate
here in this game? Well, it seems they really struggle
against motion. Motion at the snap, motion at the run,
and RPO. So I'm curious
to see if that's something Kellmore includes more of.
It's funny when you look at the stats like that,
and to your point, like when you get into those
granular things, when you look on the flip side of the
Eagles, and they're good against everything.
At the end of day, when you're a good defense,
you're going to be good in all those situations.
And when you're a bad defense by the numbers,
you're going to be bad in a lot of those areas.
And that's typically how this looks here with both sides.
What did you think of the comment that people want to see
your version of the opposing scouting report for the Eagles?
Yeah.
Maybe, look, if the Eagles have the number one seed in the buy,
maybe that's some buy-week content.
I like that. A little salscouting.
I respect that.
Nice reminder from Julia in the chat that we are close to 30,000 subscribers at PHOI.
So make sure that if you're watching on YouTube, you hit that subscribe button, all that good stuff.
You wanted to weigh in on the tail debate.
I actually don't remember.
We're going on here.
I don't remember.
I felt like this was getting put to bed on Tuesday.
And here we are Friday.
No, you know, we had never considered the spiral pork tail.
Yeah, no, we don't need to consider.
that. I mean, if it comes on the back end of a roast pork, look, I'm all for that, obviously.
Yeah, I feel like it was said yesterday, we're at the tail end of this tail conversation.
I feel like we can all move on.
Zach, what is, in this matchup, what is, what is something that you're looking forward to
see it? You might get to see it very well with that vantage point at FedEx field, but.
That's true, although I always enjoy going down there. Why? Why? Yeah.
I have very fond memories of my time in Washington.
I like being at any Eagles game.
Okay, but that's not Washington.
It's in Landover.
I like being at any Eagles game.
And when it's a game that, you know, I can still be with my family Saturday night.
So it's a road trip where you don't have to go on the road.
There's benefits there.
Right, but that's not, you're not enjoying the going then.
I just enjoy being at football games.
There's a certain energy.
It's kind of like doing a show at,
the Reading Terminal. I would much rather be
at a game and feel the
crowd. It's palpable
often. Get the sex
appeal of
less likely for the building to fall apart
around you. He's doing his Josh Harris face. Honestly, I think
whether the passing game can kind of
maintain the consistency of this week.
Feels like that's this. That's the that's the big.
I mean, Seekwon had that huge game against him last week.
I am monitoring Seekwan relative
to to the
the Eric Dickerson record.
I know that's more of a narrative than a game plan thing.
But I think it's really cool.
It's history, right?
And you're at a point now with three games to go
where you can say, like, yeah,
he needs to do X, Y, and Z.
Now, he's not going to get 400 plus yards on Sunday,
so he's not going to break it on Sunday.
But you want to see if he can maintain that pace.
Defensively, I thought that the Eagles played well against Washington
that first game outside of there were like two explosives there.
And I want to see if they can just,
kind of maintain that consistency. A question
that I've asked both Vic Fangio
and Nick Seriani this week is
like what's really good about this defense?
And we talked about it on the show.
They have these, I call it like a meat and potatoes
quality. It's that they're not exceptional
in like any one area other than
they tackle well, they cover
well, they rush well together.
They just play good team defense. Their sound.
And so it's just
from an Eagles perspective, you don't
want to see them have any
type of hiccup here going into
these final or going because at this point you're thinking about a 20 21 game season you're not
thinking about a 17 game season yep how many email friends are you on discussing severance
a couple no no no no no we should clarify the show the show yeah yeah one other so
we have a special comment you're right it's it's important that yes we called that out
sec. I'm so
pleased to get a shout out on this topic that one of the hosts
seems so uncomfortable about.
It's Sony.
Oh, it's telling.
It's his stay and his friend,
his tail friend.
We should clarify, not that kind of tail.
All right.
Why are you reading his email, by the way?
I was getting ready to jump in.
Exactly.
Listen, I'm a reporter.
If it's sitting there, I'm written.
For the people they don't, like,
For Swooper every week, I always have to kind of put into my computer back.
This only just further solidifies that I have to do this now.
All right.
We're taking a break to talk about our sponsor.
Oh, I have to verify that it's me first on this read here.
Would you like me to do it for you?
We can trade?
Sure.
Okay, yeah, because you'll tell everyone about our presenting sponsor next,
and I will tell everyone about game time.
Okay?
I am looking forward tonight to go to the 76ers game.
Thanks to Vince.
Vince has really helped me out.
But if I wasn't going to the 76ers game tonight with help from Vince,
I would be going to the 76ers game tonight with the help of game time.
Game time, we've been talking about it since the launch of PHLY.
The reason is because this is the place to turn for tickets.
Game time is focused on togetherness this holiday season.
You can be together with all your friends at the Sixers game.
That means when you bring people together at live events,
the experience is that much better, and it's the perfect gift.
Game time has a new feature called Game Time,
that makes getting tickets for live events even easier.
Game time picks filters out the fluff to show you only incredible deals in great seats
so you don't have to waste time searching through thousands of tickets.
This is the first time I'm going to a basketball game or at least an NBA game since that Clippers game.
And when I went to that Clippers game at the Intuit Dome, I used Game Time to get my seats.
And I got, I had terrific seats with a great deal with game time.
And you know what? They've curated deals that make it easier to find the best
seats, the best price for great seats. They have a super deal.
You can see the seat view before you buy the lowest price guarantee, event cancellation protection,
job loss protection, game time picks. It's a curation, makes it easier to save more on sports,
concerts, comedy, theater, et cetera. There's some great comedy coming up in these next few months in Philadelphia.
Make sure you get your tickets in game time. They have all in pricing, which is something I love,
because you never want to say, oh, this is a great.
price and then open it up and say, I have to spend that much money on fees.
So it's all in right there.
And I talked about the seat view already.

But, I mean, all four of them, it should be really fun.
I'm really glad this is going to be a great weekend of college football.

All right.
we moved to swooper and first we review last week where Zach was dominant dynamite
four out of five you hit Zach the Eagles have three or fewer three and outs on offense bang
AJ Brown has at least one of ten targets 156 yards or three touchdowns bang got it on the
targets the Eagles or Steelers score a touchdown on their first offensive drive and if both teams do it
It's two points. Didn't hit. That's okay.
Jake Elliott does not miss a field goal or extra point. Bang.
And the Eagles win and the Lions lose. Bang, you hit four.
I only had one. Kenny Pickett plays in the game. Didn't happen.
Fran had Jake Elliott attempts at 50-plus yard field goal. Didn't happen.
Russell Wilson has more passing yards in the second half than Sequin Barclay has rushing
guards in the entire game. Didn't happen.
Kenny Pickett throws a pass. Well, didn't play. Of course, didn't throw a pass.
The Eagles defense prevents a touchdown in the goal-to-go situation if only C.J. Guard
and Johnson had batted that ball down instead of trying to catch it.
You still wouldn't have won, but you got an extra point.
AJ Brown catches a pass of 20 plus air yards, 19 on the one-on-one against Joey Porter Jr.
And then the Eagles passing yards minus Eagles rushing yards is greater than Eagles points,
minus two his points.
He got that, but just one.
And so on the season, Zach moves up to 2.83.
Two points behind me at 4.83, and I am a half a point behind Fran at 5.33 in this.
week. Fran will have
no other turkey, so he's got 24.
Zach has two extra, so he's got
26. I've got 14 extra,
so I have 38, and
on we go in case this is your
first time watching Swooper.
Weird, but
what we're going to do is we've got 12 items
that we're going to bid on, and if they
come true, we get points.
Whoever gets the most points in the week wins
the week. And here comes
the professor.
Just sort of...
He's very awkward.
We've got some friends over here.
Hold on.
I don't really know how to do.
Pick this kid's nose.
There we go.
Has a weird sentence.
How do I?
There's that.
It could have weird.
Okay.
Dennis, how are you doing?
I'm doing well.
How are you guys doing?
Who's got better numbers?
You were a friend?
I mean, I think.
Dana's has better numbers.
Wait, can I clarify that comment?
Sure.
Okay.
It's just different numbers.
Professor Solomon has like, like,
the DVOA rankings.
So you can look at it and see where the offense ranks, where the defense ranks.
It's the quick study.
Franz doesn't have that.
I do have DVOA on there.
Where?
He definitely has that.
Fran and I work together to improve each other's number.
Oh, right there.
Oh, right there.
And then also, thanks a lot, Fran.
I was never going to look at mine.
My bad.
Before the great numbers.
I'm sorry.
Now, Fran doesn't.
Good thing you clarified that.
Fran has a monopoly on those next-gen stats numbers.
So, you know, what can you do?
All right.
Zach, you kick things off this week.
It goes, Zach, Bo, Fran, Danes.
Thanks for the.
Swooner gets underway.
So my submissions have a noticeable theme this week.
I like the bad experience, too.
It's a theme week.
Okay.
Sequin Bartley rushes for more yards than any Penn State running back.
and if you're unlike Bo who's a huge college football fan,
you probably know all about Nick Singleton and Ketron Allen.
Nick Singleton's gone over 100 yards the past two weeks.
Ketron Allen went over 100 yards two of the past four weeks,
but they use kind of this committee approach backfield.
So I will start the bidding.
And they're playing smooth, is that right?
They're playing SMU, Southern S as I think Cooper the Gene asked,
what does that stand for, Southern Methodist University.
And I will start the bidding at two.
I'll go three
I'll go four
Oh Zach feels very strongly about this one
Yeah I mean
I'll go five
I mean I don't know anything about the SMU run defense
But I'll go six
Wow
I'll go seven
Oh geez
The look of pain
Doesn't it hit different in person
You feel it right
You can go eight
Eight going once
What you have for eight
All right
Eight going twice
sold sold
all right
Sequin more than any Penn State running back
I hope uh well he got it so it doesn't happen but that's okay
all right my first uh submission this is going to uh
probably bother Zach a little bit
okay one and only one
of the following things happens
in this game only one
one and only one of the following things happen
how much I'll write this down
Jalen Hertz does not rush for a touchdown.
Jahan Dotson catches a pass within two yards of the line of scrimmage.
This includes behind the line of scrimmage.
A kick hits the uprights.
A goal to go play happens from beyond the 10-yard line.
Something in FedEx Field breaks, and this becomes a viral thing.
And an eagle scores a touchdown from as many yards out as his jersey number.
But only one of these things.
And only one of the following things happens.
I just need a semantics clarification on E.
This isn't like a story.
This is a physical thing that breaks.
Yeah, well, you know, it's like if there's like the pouring of waste water or something happens.
Yeah, no, but I'm saying if someone breaks the story, you can't say after the fact.
Oh, yeah, yeah, correct.
Correct.
Yeah.
I just want.
Yeah, a physical part of the structure of the field.
Sego-Bombardley breaks the spirit of the Washington.
Yeah, yeah.
I mean, if I, it might count.
A record, it can't be a record that's broken.
I'll be the judge of that.
Of course you.
One of the owners in attendance breaks a mirror.
Exactly.
It breaks my heart.
Does the crossbar count?
Yes.
Yes.
Yes, it does, you're right.
It says uprights, crossbar counts.
Okay.
But only one of these.
Only one.
All right.
I'm going to start the bidding at two.
Three.
Yeah.
I'll go four.
I mean, it's just.
I kind of get. I got to go for four.
Go ahead.
Yeah, that's beyond my number for this.
Go ahead.
You put his number for this one last night down.
It's a foo platter, but it's like too specific.
Yeah.
Yeah. So.
Friend of man.
All right, I'm up.
My first one here.
We're going to go back to the college football weekend.
Oh, you and I are thinking of like.
Yep.
All right.
So more than one of the underdogs in this weekend's college football
playoff games wins outright.
So here are the four
games with the spreads. Indiana,
seven point dogs over Notre Dame,
SMU, eight and a half
point underdogs over Penn State,
Clemson, 11.5 point underdogs
over Texas, Tennessee,
seven and a half point underdogs over
Ohio State. So you need at least two of them to hit.
I figured that one of them hitting
was too easy.
They just win the game.
Win the game, correct, not just cover. They got to win the game.
And I don't say this condescending.
I say this because this is the first time this is happening.
So I just want to inform Bo.
No, because you're not as big a college football fan as a friend is that these are all home games.
Correct.
I think some people assume these games are neutral site games.
That's what I meant to say.
You didn't do a throw me under the bus.
Well, no, but you're doing one bidding here who might not know that is my point.
And also, thematically, I presented these as like gifts for football fans.
And this is for, we get a 12-team playoff for the first time.
in history.
I mean, what a gift for football fans everywhere.
And can I ask one clarifying question about here?
What's a football game?
I like the, I like the, the art.
It's something we saw what we talk about on the show, actually.
We only have 28 minutes left.
Can we get moving here?
Tell me, sir.
What's the football games?
It's laugh and me.
All right, let's roll.
Let's roll.
Let's go.
We'll start the bidding at two.
Oh, you're confident in dogs this weekend, huh?
I mean, but two turkeys.
Only you think that's big that's big money.
That's more turkeys than Zach Scott.
It's not real.
These are big underdogs.
None of these games are close.
You're paying them on two of these big underdogs winning on the road.
As someone who doesn't watch much college football, I had a question for you.
How come it seems like whenever I do watch college football, which is usually only in the playoffs?
Yeah.
It's like a 40-point blowout.
Like, how are they so bad at having anything close to parity in college football?
It's a good question.
These are all supposed to be top 12 teams and it's like all touchdown plus spreads.
Yeah.
I think there is more parity this year than there has been.
I mean, it's been a wild stretch here down the last four or five weeks.
So I think there's a very good chance that at least one of these two of these teams win.
Three.
Three going once.
Four, four.
Zach, all of a sudden trying to stage direct, giving us a wrap it up.
Brick.
No, see that before.
Four going once.
Four going twice.
Salt to Fred.
All right.
Now the professor.
All right.
Looms over us.
Yeah.
Very awkwardly.
Hold on.
Let me find my own items here.
Okay.
All right.
Item four.
Now, because we're here in person, all of mine are going to be non-standard options.
This one's going to be one that you've done before.
The other two, just little T's, are going to both be formats that we have not done.
Oh, very exciting.
So this one is going to be the standard Dutch auction.
So I'm going to start at 15, and I'm going to count down until someone says Swooper.
And I know that you all know what the item is, because I said I would keep on having it until it happened.
The Eagles score a touchdown on their first offensive drive.
This is still not happened all year.
Everyone ready.
And how are we doing this?
Dutch auction.
So I'm starting at 15.
Whoever yells whoever yells Swipper gets in.
Okay.
Okay.
15. 14.
13. 13. 12.
11.
10.
9. 8.
7.
6. 5. 5. 4.
Ooh.
We got to leave it up to the sickos with 10.
Oh, man.
Is there a way to...
Can somebody rewind and live?
Listen on YouTube.
Jack is raising his hand, and I'm pretty sure he was last.
Hold on.
I got right here.
It was too close.
You're doing the video?
I got the video right here.
On the leg.
Oh, that's me.
Oh, that's me.
No.
Oh, my goodness.
I mean, that is you there.
Hold on.
Can you do like a slow motion?
Raising his hand.
Just go by the...
Go by the...
But you can't.
It's not about who starts.
It's about who finishes.
No, it's about who starts.
Hold on.
Whooper.
Can you?
This is riveting.
This is like the actual NFL.
It's like a really long replay process.
Actually, most of the chat is saying ZB or Bo.
I mean, Chad, come on.
Well, you know, Bo, if you have a pizza restaurant and they like your pizza, they'll keep coming back.
Five.
All right, here it comes.
Here it comes.
He's about to say four.
Oh.
Look at my mouth there.
It's so close.
So close.
I don't know.
Julian, what do we do?
All right.
Whoever takes a piece of clothing on first gets it.
What?
No, this is what we did last time.
It's so the bidding starts at four and then who wants to pay five?
Right?
Yeah, that's fine.
Yeah, it was so close that we may as well do it that way.
Yeah.
Does anyone want it for five?
Sure.
All right.
Wow.
Wow.
Wow.
Wow.
Wow.
Wow.
Wow.
Wow.
Frivolous spending of a turkey.
All right.
How many do I have left?
13.
Okay.
All right.
Opening drive touchdown for Zach.
The Eagles are still 32nd, an EPA board drive on the first two drives and first on all remaining drives.
And it is crazy that that might actually make it until the end of the year.
It has effect.
All right, Zach, it's yours.
Yes.
Continuing my theme.
Grand Calcutera has more receiving yards than any SMU tight end.
Oh.
Grand Capitare, of course, went to SMU.
If you want to know the stats, R.J. Maryland has 24 catches for 359 yards.
And Matthew Hibner has 22 catches for 330 yards.
And I will start the beating.
So what if, like, a wide receiver is lined up in like a tight end position?
No, it's the tight end, a tight end designation on SMU's roster.
Okay.
And I will start the bidding at one.
Two.
Penn State's got a good defense.
Any Nittany Lions fans in here?
There we go.
And he was a mustache.
Not Josh Shapiro.
Of course he's rude for Penn State.
Governor Shapiro is also a Penn State.
He was the governor of Pennsylvania.
All right.
You're at two.
Two going once.
Classic one where Zach
Interesting but doesn't want to buy it.
I'll go three.
I don't love this one, but I don't be on the books.
Three going once?
Three going twice.
Okay.
Salt is that?
I mean, that's not a hard one for you to win, Zach.
Yeah.
As we know, the over's on Kakatera struggle to hitting.
And those Mustangs are going to be pretty cold up in Happy Valley tomorrow.
Okay.
I'm up.
Julia, like your life.
You made a joy laugh, Zach.
Oh, it's the first for everything.
I'm no joy for 20 years.
Yeah, just made her laugh for the first time.
Those Mustangs are going to be cold.
Mighty cold up in Happy Valley.
All right.
I have a point system for Jalen Carter for this game.
Okay.
And the item is that Jalen Carter has at least five points.
And here are how he gets points.
A tackle for loss or a quarterback hit equals one point.
Drawing a holding penalty equals two points.
That's not going to happen.
And a sack is four points.
And obviously then a half sack is two points.
Okay.
So Jalen Carter has at least five points between TFLs and quarterback hits, holding penalties, and sacks.
I feel the need to mention that the NFL counts sacks as quarterback hits unless it was the quarterback running out of bounds.
So just the normal sack would be five points.
Okay.
So let's say that then that quarterback hit doesn't count.
I think it's fair.
I mean, I don't think it should, but yeah.
Okay.
All right.
So for the purposes of this, a sack does not also count as a quarterback hit.
I'm going to start the bidding at four.
Ooh.
Good spender.
Four turkeys.
Like I'm buying water bottles over here.
Four going once.
You're not getting, oh, okay.
I want to get in on this, but I...
Four going twice.
All right down the 10 turkeys.
Sold to the handsome man on the right.
Carter, four points.
Carter last time was very disruptive, but the numbers were not huge in his favor in that game against Washington.
Betting on the ZB. Bump.
I will be exing that story, and what's the verb for blue skying the story every time he makes a play.
I promise you that.
All right, let's go to my next one here.
My last one was a gift for all football fans.
This is a gift for Eagles fans.
The linebacker play here in 2024
has been so much better than what we've seen
in recent years. So looking at Zach Bonn and
Coby Dean in this game, Bonn or Dean
gets a sack or is involved in a turnover.
So that's an interception, fumble recovery
or forced fumble. We will start the bidding at three.
A sack or involved in a turnover. I'll say four.
I will go.
I'll go five.
I keep bidding here, Bo.
I don't have to do it.
anything.
Five going once.
Five going twice. I will say six.
There you go. Good job.
Six going once.
Go ahead, you can take it for six. Six going twice.
It's a good one, both. Sold to the handsome man on the right.
I liked your last two picks. Those are good picks.
Okay, well, I don't want them anymore.
Franana, I had a question for you.
I'm not normally a look-ahead to next year guy in this time of year, but I know there's a lot
of interest in this topic. How many turkeys would you put
on Zach Bonn
being on the eagle next year
well not the tip ahead on
what's that game called
uh flu world order
the flu world order right
um
it's been a while since we've had a freeway
flu world order that's very exciting
very excited that's the thing that excites you
is
out of 10 turkeys let's go
it's out of 100 turkeys
let's go out of 100 turkeys
we'll go
67.
Okay. That he will be.
Yeah. Okay.
Big deal?
I mean, it's got to be, I would think so.
Big-ish. Yeah, big-ish.
I think that, I know that there are a lot of fans who are like,
why aren't they signing Zach Vaughn right now?
I just, I think it's a very difficult,
it would be a very difficult contract for the two sides to agree on at this point, right?
Like, the Eagles have no idea what the league is going to value him.
He's an older player coming off a breakout season.
They might think that Zach Bonn wants to come back and take a discount,
But, I mean, this is his one chance to really get paid.
And his agent doesn't know what his market's going to be.
This is one where I feel like they have to at least wait until, you know, the combine
when he can figure out what the market's going to be like for them to actually have an idea of what the numbers are.
Yeah, just looking at the linebackers from last year, my guess is he'll be around 13, 14 a year.
That's a lot.
It's a lot.
But, you know, Patrick Queen just got just under that.
Frankie Louvre was just north of just around 12 million.
Aziz Alshay year was right around 12 million,
so I would think Bonn will be just north of that.
He's so soft-spoken and modest.
Like, it's funny to think about him as getting this massive deal,
and he's going to start wearing, like, leather jackets
and get a piece like the one Jalen has and stuff.
That would be very funny.
Okay, before we get to DeNez's, let's take our last commercial break.
What are we talking about?
Talking about Rott A.
That's right?
The Rode Reda and Refreshery.
He's a good place to get your little bit.

One thing I love about coming here at Redding Terminal,
you know, I've been coming here for years since I was a kid,
and even though some of the storefronts have changed,
some of the vendors have changed, the vibes,
like everything is exactly the same as how I remember it,
coming here when I was younger.
And so much in the world has changed,
Redding Terminal has not changed.
Another thing that hasn't, the great taste of Miller Light.
And another thing that has not changed,
Miller Light, it's less filling.
So what is the best thing about the original light beer
Miller Light sparked this debate way back in 1975, and they still have not settled it.
You've got the great taste.
You've got the less filling.
I will say I've eaten all this food here today.
If I'm going to sit down tonight and I'm going to watch Indiana against Notre Dame,
I know that I can crack open a Miller Light and feel okay.
I'm not going to feel completely gross and full because I want to have a beer while watching this football game.
Miller Light keeps it simple, undebatable quality, great taste, only 96 calories.
It's the beer that strips away everything that you don't need and hold.
on to what matters most. A light beer that tastes like light beer, less filling, and only
96 calories. It's the original light beer since 1975. And again, you don't have to choose what's
best. Miller Light has great taste and is less filling. Tastes like Miller Time to get Millerlight

All right, as we get to submission number eight from the professor, a quick check-in.
Zach, you have 10 turkeys left.
I have 24.
Fran, you have 20.
That checks with my accounting.
All right.
So, here we go.
Item number eight, this is going to be a swooper first.
We have not done this.
This is going to be a sequential single-bid auction.
Cuzz is here just literally punched me in the shoulder.
almost knocked my phone out of my hand.
That's our version of my handshake.
That's right.
Glad you said shake.
Now, I need to know who won item seven, because I don't remember.
Because that's part of the rules of this auction.
The last item.
Who won it?
Who wanted?
Bo won it.
The very last one.
Yeah, Bo won it.
Right?
Bo one the last two.
Yeah.
No.
Yeah, I did.
Yeah, yeah.
And who won the one before Bo?
Bo did.
Bo one to run.
No, I know, but like, what other person was attacked?
Grand Cockatero.
Okay.
Yeah, great. So that's the order. So here's how it works. Bo, because he won the last item,
is going to announce his bid for this item and he will not be allowed to change it. That will be his final bid.
Okay.
After that, Zach will get to hear that item and decide whether he wants to up bid it or not. He can bid anything higher or he can just say, I'm out.
And then Fran will get to play last and he will get to either bid more than whoever has bid so far or.
say he's out. So you're just rigging this for Fran.
Bo has to bid. Bo has to bid at least one. Okay.
What, how is this fair? Are you just rigging it for Fran? It's completely random.
Who won items set? We don't know that that way. You could have come up with anything to make it so that Fran goes last.
Of all people saying how it was a fair. I literally didn't even remember who won items seven.
The first time in seven years. I don't believe. This is absolutely outrageous. I emailed the rules to Julia this morning.
And I obviously did not know that Fran was going to be the one who didn't win items.
I knew that I had the most turkeys coming in.
I would be most likely to win items.
Are you done?
I'm just saying.
I have a first grader.
We have a first grader.
This is obviously outrageous.
I have a first grader and I have the patience for this if you want to keep going.
Al-Amadee Zakeas has more catches than Jahan Dotson has targets.
For the years, Achaeus has 30 catches and Dotson has 22 targets.
This is obviously the wide receiver three from the Eagles last year versus this year.
Bo, you have to bid at least one.
What's your bid?
Three.
Okay, Zach, would you like to bid more than three?
I'm out.
Fran, would you like to bid more than three?
Yeah, I'll take four.
Okay, that's it.
Okay, that was fun.
Good work.
You looked like you had fun, Zach.
All right.
He was just like, I'm out.
I'm not doing this.
I am up here.
Okay.
And this year continues the theme that I have, which is this huge, huge playoff game.
Huge.
Right down 76.
I can't wait to watch it tomorrow.
By the way, I'm going to be a wheelhouse signing books tomorrow during the Penn State game.
I'll be there.
This is Wheelhouse and Wayne.
I will be there 11 to 2.
So make sure you come on by.
It was my last book signing before Christmas.
So here you go.
The Eagles and Penn State both win.
Oh, they both have to win here.
This isn't covering.
This is winning.
They're both favored to win.
I will start the bidding at three.
Four.
Five.
Six.
Seven.
Ten.
I'm out.
Eleven.
Good one, Bill.
Twelve.
Good one, Fran.
Thanks.
For the people who are here,
Zach brought books that he can sign, just so you know.
Oh, I appreciate that.
I finally got my copy.
Friend, do you have yours?
No, I have no.
You out of 12?
12 going once, 12 going twice.
Sold to friend.
That's a good bit.
That's a good bit.
Yeah, but if Penn State wins, that's one underdog that hasn't won,
so then you've got to get two out of the other three underdogs.
Next one thing.
I would only spend four on that one.
Yeah, that's true.
All right.
My final one.
The game on Sunday is never tied.
after it's zero-zero.
Hmm.
I like this one.
Yeah, that's an interesting one.
And I'm going to start the bidding at two.
Three.
Four.
I mean, I should have said four, so you couldn't get it in.
I'll say five.
It's yours.
Yep.
Five going once, five going twice.
Sold.
You really love sold, Zach.
The only time Zach seems to care at all about swooper is when he gets to go,
So.
In the book business, that's your favorite word.
That was pretty good.
All right, Fran.
Give us your last book.
All right.
So this was a gift to NFL fans everywhere.
And that's Sequin Barclay, being on a good team.
So we'll go to Sequin Barclay, potentially going for the record here.
He needs to average 139.3 yards in the final three games to break Eric Dickerson's record.
So the item here is Sequan Barkley runs for at least 140 yards.
Now he ran for 146 and two touchdowns back in week 11 against his defense.
The bidding will start at four.
Ooh, big bid.
Just one more after this.
Yep.
I got to be in the game.
Five going once.
Brand can't bid.
I can't bid.
Twice.
Six.
Six.
Why don't you say an original, yeah?
Got to build it up.
How many turkeys do you have, though?
I have 19.
Shoot.
Six going once.
Is that how many you really have, or is that as like cheating number?
That's the real number.
Seven.
Seven going once.
Seven going twice.
Seven going twice.
Sold.
Okay.
All right.
Wow.
This is a spirited one this week.
Yeah.
All right, Dennis.
All right, last one.
So this is also going to be a debut of an auction format.
This is known as...
This is called a Fran doesn't have to bid.
He just gets the item.
I like that one.
That's a good one.
This is known as a median bid wins.
Sealed bid auction.
Now, this is what we call in auction theory a non-standard auction, which we actually haven't had a single non-standard auction on the show.
You might think that we have, but a non-standard auction means that the highest bidder doesn't actually win the item.
Okay, so this is a little different.
the second highest bidder wins the item and pays their own bid.
If there's a three-way tie, we'll do a do-over.
And if there's a two-way tie, those two bidders will break the tie with a normal auction.
Is everyone clear?
Yep.
All right.
Can we borrow from next week?
Yes, you can borrow from next week, as always on item 12.
The person in the middle wins the item and pays their own bid.
So if you bid really high, you're probably not going to win.
If you bid really low, you're probably not going to win.
You've got to be in the middle.
you're ready okay the eagles win and at least one of the lions and vikings lose and if the
eagles win and the lions and vikings both lose this item will score two points that will also mean
the eagles control the nfc one seat okay all right so you guys have to bid in private
as a reminder without showing each other what you're bidding somehow even though we're all kind of
crammed up against each other here.
Lions have the bears and Vikings have who this week?
The Vikings are at Seattle.
Right, right, right, right.
Do you see mine?
Did you hear you?
I can see them.
I can see them.
Just make sure a friend can see you.
Okay.
Okay.
All right, so, Bo can I see yours?
Everyone else has bid already, so.
Okay, so, Zach bid 10.
Fran bid five.
So Bo wins it with his bid of six.
So Bo gets it for six.
All right.
All right.
It's a goodbye, Bo.
Well, I'm doomed for this week.
That's for sure.
All right.
Jack, were you trying to win or were you trying to make the price go up?
I thought they would bid higher.
Okay.
Bo had a lot of turkeys.
He had a lot of turkeys.
I thought Bo was going to bid high.
And Fran was going to bid low?
Yeah.
So you were trying to win.
Yeah.
All right?
Because my logic was I, you know, I need to stack up wins.
Future turkeys don't do me as good anymore.
What I did a call for Matt Elroy?
Who says the winner who predicted that the winner will get it for six.
Wow.
Good call, man.
All right, Zach.
You have Sequin rushes for more yards than any Penn State running back.
Grant Calkatera has more receiving yards than any SMU tight end.
The Eagles score a touchdown on their opening drive and Seekwan Barkley rushes for at least 140 yards.
Yeah, I should have got in the gym.
Jalen Carter won.
That's my...
And you've got three turkeys left.
I have only one of those long list of things happens.
Jalen Carter has at least five points from my new system.
Zach Bonn or Nacobi-Deen either gets a sack or is involved in a turnover.
What is this one?
The game is never tied.
The game is never tied after zero-zero,
and then the Eagles win and either the Lions or Vikings lose.
And Fran, you have at least two underdogs win in the first round.
round of the college football playoffs.
Olamanez Akias has more catches than Jehan Dotson has targets,
and the Eagles and Penn State both win.
All right.
It's called a hedge.
There you go.
All right.
I'm going to say goodbye.
Goodbye, Danes.
Appreciate it, Professor.
Good luck on those numbers.
Thanks.
Zach, you want to give us your prediction of this game?
Yeah.
Let me see what the overrunner is here.
A crystal ball of eagle, as it were.
Exactly.
I'm glad we'll do that on the Friday.
show. I think the Eagles win this game. I think the Eagles are in position to win out here this
season. Things are looking good for them. I don't anticipate this being a letdown game. I actually
think the Eagles cover. I think the Eagles are a better team than the commanders. That game is closer
than I anticipated. It's a three and a half point spread. Even though Brian Robinson, as Dan is kept
telling us over and over again, shot himself in the foot. The overrunner is 45 and a half.
I don't think the Washington Firepower is going to be there.
I am going with Eagles 21, Washington 14.
Wow.
Okay.
It is a little bit of a Washington line.
It is a Washington line.
It's a little scary from that standpoint.
But I do like the Eagles to win and I'd like the Eagles to cover.
I'm going to go Eagles 3117 here in this one.
Big one.
And the exciting news for the Sickos is Sunday.
we've got another Franen cast
the last one of the regular season.
Me and Fran are going to be calling
the game as we watch it.
That'll be a lot of fun. You can watch it
with us on Sunday.
We've also got the kickoff show, the post-game
show with Vinnie Curry and Jamie Lynch.
I want to amend my score. I did the math wrong
in my head. The 27-17.
I want to get closer to the over-under.
27-17.
21 points was low.
Yeah, 27-17.
Oh, thank you.
Thanks for watching on TV.
You normies.
Make sure you go to all-P-H-L-Y.com to check out the rest of this episode, which will not be very long.
Frannicast is coming, so we're very excited about that.
All right.
Thanks to everybody who came out.
Yes, thank you.
We have one super chat.
Oh, we have a super chat.
We couldn't see the chat.
I know.
Sorry about that.
Dan Carvalio says, do you guys think if we had a top five edge rusher, this defense would have
or reach legendary status?
I think it would have more acclaim around the league.
As well as Gellon Carter is playing,
he's not your legit defensive player of the year candidate.
If you think of Hassan Reddick in 2022,
he was a legit defense player of your candidate.
So if you have this defense's production,
and then in place of Nolan Smith,
you put in 22 Hassan Reddick,
yeah, I mean, I think you're talking about,
look, legendary status,
no defense in the city is going to compare
to the 91 Eagles,
which was number one,
the board and everything, right?
Had, you know, Hall fame,
had perhaps the best defensive player,
one of three best defensive players of all time.
But I am going to go, yeah,
I think this, they would be viewed differently
if they had me lead.
I think just from a, yeah, from a sexiness standpoint.
I mean, I think this is the best Eagles defense
of my, like, being able to pay attention lifetime.
And so, like, it should be probably held in higher esteem
than maybe it is.
I think because of the stuff that you've been talking about,
their identity is that they are just so buttoned up at everything,
and there is not necessarily a, you know,
I think that Jalen Carter sort of counts as a standout player,
but from a production standpoint,
I think they would be held in higher regard,
at least nationally too, if there was a, you know,
a guy to hold up there.
Yeah, I think that's fair.
I think that what, you know,
when we talk about this defense,
Zach outlined it perfectly earlier in the show,
that this is not, you know,
the sexiest defense from like a pure, like,
playmaking standpoint.
There's no Brian Dawkins, right?
Obviously.
league but I think when you look at this group just the way they're functioning I mean it's it's
been the best defense in the NFL this season there is a Chuck Harris though amen
no macho though no nacho macho or nausea or nausea or Nogie no Nogie or Wittles Damien
there's a lot of Harris you can go with here what did you say wood Harris Wood Harris
Wood Harris I don't know that one come on do you know that one no
That's Avon Barksdale, my friend.
He's Wood Harris?
Left side, strong.
South side, yeah.
That man must have a code.
Yeah, seriously.
Over here, come on.
All right, that'll do it for this episode of the P.H.O.Y. Eagles podcast.
For all the sickos in attendance, for all of you watching around the world, we thank you for hanging out.
We'll talk to you on Sunday, full slate of coverage.
