Hello, everybody, and welcome to the P.HLY Eagles Postgame show presented by Bet365.
Download the Bet365 app and use code PHLY365 when you sign up, whatever the moment.
It's never ordinary at Bet365, and it was not an ordinary day for Sequin Barclay.
For 176 yards as the Eagles finally have that big win.
We have been hoping for 28 to 3 against the New York Giants.
we can dispense with the buildup here.
Let's get right to Vinny for the...
Sequin!
I mean, the man, he's just as good as advertised, 10 yards of carry,
you know, that just make you go, Sequo!
You know, so...
And it busted this game open.
This game was an ugly zero-zero-year-game for six possessions.
Eagles could not move the ball on offense,
and then all of a sudden you get Sequan in the open field
with Cam Jergens leading the way of 55.
Yarder gets things going. Yeah, you had three explosive runs from Seekwant in this game. We had the 55
yard or the 41 yarder and then a 33 yarder. The Eagles scored touchdowns on all three of those
drives. I mean, he was the catalyst for so many of their points in this game. Obviously, you get the
big play to A.J. Brown, but I think ultimately, Sequin was the catalyst. He was the driver of this
Eagles offense. The past game just not consistent at all. Certainly past protection had something
to do with that. I didn't think Jalen Hertz had his best performance here in this game. But I think
overall, I mean, Sequant Barclay, that offensive line, you had to like what you saw from them on the ground.
It's the second most revenge yards on the ground in NFL history.
And I will give somebody in my, somebody here, if they can get number one, $2 in my pocket.
Well, they showed it on the broadcast.
Did they?
Yeah.
658 rushing yards through the first six games for Sequin Barclay, Jamie.
That is the most for any Eagle ever.
It's also more than any giant has ever had in the first six games of the season.
Tough day for Joe Shane.
Yeah, that's tough.
To put that on tape,
Doran Hard Knocks this summer,
and to have the owner say he's going to be in hell.
Yeah,
I mean,
if John Mara can Mr.
Magoo himself and find his way
into Joe Shane's office again,
it's not going to be a pleasant conversation.
Yeah.
Cedric Benson is the most revenge yards ever,
with 189,
Saquan second.
So,
you know,
that was kind of like,
that was part of the M.O.
this week, right?
You want your guy to feel good going home
and kind of stomp him a little bit.
So I loved him
first touchdown the night. I thought Siriani was going to make an emphasis to get Seekwan as,
you know, the main driver of this offense. And I also think it was pretty cool was, you know,
they was going for the push-touch and crowd is, you know, wanted him to get back. Get him the ball.
Yeah, yeah, he comes in and they, ah, ah, they should have gotten him too there. Let's be honest.
If I can nitpick a little bit, give Seacuan a second touchdown.
Yeah, so that was, that was cool, man. Saquan is definitely, uh, man, we're so happy for you,
man. Us Eagles, uh, fans and the fan base, we're so happy for you.
He's awesome.
He's awesome.
You know,
there in that stadium
that sucked.
Oh, come on.
It wasn't his fault.
It started with that first time
we touched the ball.
He runs over Dane Belton,
right,
just lowers his shoulder.
Like, you could tell.
And, you know,
all week long,
I say,
this is just another game.
I think,
I think we know that.
And as you would say,
Vainty of any of that,
that is not true.
Yeah,
I'm telling you,
Seiguan had a little extra juice
for this.
Oh, for sure,
100%.
I mean,
I had actually juice watching it.
That's cool.
You know?
Very reminiscent of A.J.
Brown in 2022 going up against Tennessee
Titans. That was the year after the Eagles
acquired him via trade. And he
goes off, gets their GM fire
the following week. And we'll see if the
Giants hold serve here. So, Vinny,
we were just asking you right before the show, like, went
live here. Like, what's it like for a
defense on the other side of that? When Seekwan
Barclay is just, what do he average?
10 yards to carry today? And I have
the game log in front of me. You were correct on
the game. A game came right
to your mind. We were like, oh, I remember that
game. It was Jim Schwartz's first year here.
What's that like on the defensive side of the ball?
Oh, man, it was heartbreaking.
I just remember getting back on that train.
It was like silence.
And then, you know, I remember that, you know, the defense is making a package.
Like, as long as we're together, we never, ever, ever going to have a game like this again, as long as we together.
And as you know, then you can look it up.
I have it right here.
I haven't had no game like that again.
But it was Matt Jones, 16 carries for 135 yards, average 8.4.
And Rob Kelly had five carries for 59 yards.
11 point eames.
Yeah.
I still hear Jim yel right now.
Form Eagle great, Matt Jones.
That's right.
Yeah, absolutely.
All right. We got plenty to get to
on this show. We might hear from
Sequin Barkley at the podium coming up
in a little bit. We'll dip in on Nick Siriani
as well. We're going to hear from Zach Berman
live from MetLife Stadium, but
we're also just going to unpack this, which was
also a very impressive defensive performance.
And we'll get to that in a minute. But this game
we've been talking about like even last year
when the Eagles were winning and
started the season so well. It was all close games.
very nice to see them win a game comfortably like this.
They say that the best mark of good teams
is that you're able to beat bad teams handily.
A 25 point win,
do you know the last time the Eagles beat a team
by that many points?
Ooh.
I mean, it's got to be the 2020 season, right?
2020 season, week 14 against the New York Giants.
There you go.
48 to 22, so there you go.
But to your point, it was prior to the Tampa Bay game,
I believe it was 18 consecutive one possession games.
The Eagles have been a part.
part of. So, you know, they haven't had a lot of these. It felt good to be bored in the fourth quarter
and to put your feet up and to see to see so much Kenny Pickett. Yeah. Will Sipley. Yeah.
I love it. He's got to be happy. He's actually thrilled when we talk to Zach later.
What do you mean Normie storyline? This is the whole thing.
Before we get to the defense and before we hear from Sequin, do we have Seekone right now,
Julia? All right. Let's check in with the man of the hour.
Seiquon.
game I probably talked a little more shit today than I usually do but uh not language
yeah yeah fully in through the week right now while I'm at mentally just focusing on my
preparation focusing on the little things staying consistent is the reason why you know when I go
out there and I'm getting booed or whatever you know I didn't remove myself from the moment I
stay locked in the moment the whole time and I got to continue to do that for the rest of the season
Where were you on the field of the same reaction?
How much you're paying attention?
I mean, it's kind of hard not to hear that.
I think I kind of, you know, I didn't help myself when I said earlier a week.
I didn't think I was going to get booed.
But, you know, they're booing for a reason.
It's a compliment at the end of day.
That's how I took it.
Are you no surprise by the vitriol?
I mean, they're burning your jersey in the parking lot?
That was crazy.
That was crazy.
I mean, I've seen my jersey get burned before over on social media.
but the timing of it
I'm locked in, I'm listening to my music
and I see the fans
and all I see his fans just pointing and I look
and I'm like, what are they pointing at?
I see smoke and I'm just like
in my jersey getting burned.
So yeah, that was definitely different.
I don't know if I ever experienced anything like that in my life
and hopefully I don't experience that again
but in that moment I was
I was ready for third and one, let's just say that.
You bounced off defenders before
but on that first catch you made
even though you were stopped short of the first down
You got a pretty good pop on 24.
Were there's a little more behind that moment?
Or was that something just to kind of get you going?
I just lower my shoulder.
I don't know.
Like, my boys told me, the team, they told me that I ran through him.
But I just low my shoulder, you know, try to run hard.
I think the team feeds off that well.
And that's really what it was.
What border did you want to stay on the field for the player high?
It's all good.
I'm not really, I don't know.
I know you guys don't know me enough yet, but numbers don't do it for me.
Of course, I want to be great, and I'm all about my legacy.
But at the end of the day, I'm all about the team, and I'm happy to see Kenny got there and see Young Will get some reps.
Were you particularly satisfied with this performance today over any other game?
At the end of the day, you know, we won the game.
Could we start better?
Yeah, we still haven't scored in the first quarter.
I know you guys probably going to write about that.
I think we won't.
Convincently, but we still left some food out there.
We played with our food.
And that's the beauty of it.
Even in games like this, you can go back and learn from it and get better.
And that's what we're going to do.
Go watch film and get ready for Sinty.
How did it feel getting in the end zone for the first time as an eagle at MetLife Stadium?
It felt great.
I mean, anytime you scored touchdown is good.
You know, I didn't allow myself to, you know, let the moment of me get in the end zone,
whether it was in MetLife or not.
To be honest, so far, my coolest, my favorite touchdown was in Brazil.
The atmosphere was amazing there.
anytime you can score feels good
and I was able to set up some big plays
I didn't really, you know, I hit a lot of doubles and triples
today. I didn't hit the one out of the park so
definitely go back to the drawing board and get ready
for that. That 55 yarder is the fastest
you've ever been clocked. What was I at?
22.
That means Jay Penny was moving
then because I just, I remember looking
up and he was head
down track. He was just moving, so
I was like, I wonder what I hit. If I hit 22,
he must have hit 23 or 24.
So like I said, it don't matter if you hit
You know your numbers like that?
Scoring that play, but try to eliminate the next play.
Talk to me from Coach Huff in college
because you don't know what can happen in the next play,
but we end up scoring that drive.
Coach Hars is a lot.
There we go.
I had a lot.
A lot of great conversation this week from family members,
from friends, teammates, AJ, Jalen, P, strength staff,
Autumn, Dee Wood,
Jody, our therapist.
You know, they did a really good job of, you know,
checking it on me this week.
And, you know, I don't really make it more than what it was.
But even if I did, you know, it's helpful to have,
I've only been in this team for three or four months
or ever long and this organization forever long.
But it's a comfortable feeling when you know that you can go to a hostile environment.
And there's a lot of people that on your side has your back.
How about what with those guys on the other side of them?
Did you have any conversations today?
Yeah.
No, I talked a little more crap this week because, you know, I'm literally playing some of my friends.
Even some of the guys I don't know, no, safety Newman.
He's, you know, we were talking, we were drawn, but it was more like a respect thing.
I like his game.
I think he's going to be a phenomenal player, and I look forward to, you know, many battles we're going to have in the future.
You know, Dex, I kept it short with Dex.
because I'm not the guy that got to block decks.
And I said it before the game started and before the week.
I think he's the best season to play in the league.
And, you know, he gave us some trouble today.
But at the end of the day, we got the one.
We saw A.J. Brown two years ago.
All right.
I think we can pull out of Sequin there, but good stuff to hear from him.
So he has 17 carries for 176 yards, 10.4 yards per carry with the 55-yarder in a touchdown
and adding two catches for 11 yards.
Jamie, do you feel like he's the best running back you've seen since?
Shady to me was like, I mean, B. West.
I can't forget about B. West.
The best in Shady, yeah.
No doubt since Shady.
No question, yeah.
Different style, right?
Tough to compare to Shady because very different guys.
Shady's more like juke, make you miss.
Yeah, I always said like Shady's kind of like a doorstep of the Hall of Fame guy,
a really close,
like pretty explosive plays.
But Seekwon might be,
yeah, I don't know how to categorize it
because one of the positions of strength
of the Eagles over the last 25 years
is running back, you know?
B. West and Shady are great.
So definitely the best since McCoy.
And I mean, kind of the ceiling is outrageous with him.
Yeah, I have been personally, like,
pleasantly surprised at how awesome.
Yeah.
He's so fun to watch.
Even when he gets like, you know,
he's finishing.
seeing three and four yards after the first port of con like he is falling forward he's getting those
extra yards at the end of plays that you just love to see that viny i'm sure like kind of fires a team
up when you see your guy fighting off two and three tackles and getting three and four extra yards
like that's got that's got to that's got to fire some people up definitely and that's a big compliment
you know just to be in the b west and shady you know conversation you know so that's that goes to show
you how highly we think of sequan you know because do you talk about two all-time grades i think
Shady is one of the best
running backs to ever play this game.
To see that live in person
every day was even crazier.
So just to talk about
Saquana goes to show you that
how much us Philadelphia is, I appreciate you, brother.
Jamie, you talked about like his,
him always leaning forward and pushing and creating
some of that extra yardage.
Next Gen put out 92 yards over expected
alone in this game, which was, I believe,
the most by any, a third most by any running back
this season, 176 total
on 17 carries.
Just outstanding performance.
And really, you saw the explosiveness.
You saw the creativity. We saw the determination downhill.
We saw the finishing ability.
I mean, everything you could have wanted to see from
Seyquan Barkley as a runner, you got to see it here in this one.
You know, when, before the show starts, we're all like looking up stuff, like trying
to find a little nugget to look through, you know, that's sort of the game, right?
And I'm looking through the running backs over the past however many years.
the advanced stat stuff goes back to 2016,
relative to all the other Eagles running backs.
I was surprised to learn it's not even the after contact stuff.
He has the most yards per carry before contact
of any Eagles running back.
So that would speak to the line blocking for him
and the run game scheme.
Was there anything about the variedness of the running game today
that jumped out to you, Fran?
We saw more of those perimeter plays and that were successful.
They tried that last year or last week against the Cleveland Browns
and they didn't find as much success.
They went for like six or seven yards as opposed to that very first one,
that 55 yarder that came on that sweep play where he was untouched until he got to the third level.
I mean, he was downfield.
And that's the way he was talking about in the press conference where Jason Pinnock kind of hawked him down there.
But I think when you're looking at his ability to get to the edge,
if you've got that speed along the offensive line to be able to leak out,
and certainly they've got Cam Jergins, that ability to be used as a puller there.
That is such an advantage for the Eagles offensive line and for Sequan Barkley
to create those angles.
Really, I mean, get him one-on-one with a corner,
and that's what you're hoping for every time you hand the ball off to your running back.
Because if you can get him one-on-one with somebody at the third level,
and ideally that cornerback, that should be curtains for the defense.
All right, well, let us know in the chat, what you think of the game,
all the good stuff, how you're feeling.
We'll get to all that and much more to come.
But before we do that, a word from our spots.

a saint you're just giving that money i can't bet it myself i just had to put it out but hopefully those
winnings you can uh transfer right over to your local beer store and pick up some of the original light
beer. Miller Light on Birds Game Day, Miller Light just, I think, taste better. I don't know if it's
science or what, but it's the original light beer since 1975, and to this day, it's still the
best one. Why you may ask, well, it's simple. It's a light beer that tastes like light beer
should taste, and they don't tinker around and change anything. It's less filling, and it's only
96 calories per 12 ounces. So when you're with friends or family or an Eagles tailgate or wherever
you are and good times are being had, Miller Light is always a great accompaniment. It's the
original since 1975 and still the best one and you don't have to choose what's best. Miller Light
has great taste and is less filling. Taste like Miller's time. To get Miller Lite delivered

much anywhere that sells beer. Celebrate responsibly. Miller Brewing Company, Milwaukee,
Wisconsin, 96 calories per 12 ounces, fewer calories and carbs than premium regular beer.
All right.
Now, it's Philadelphia, so it's not always just sunshine and roses.
So let's talk about a few of the negative things on offense.
Jalen Hertz, sort of an up and down day.
The number is not so bad.
But there were a few times in this game where it looked like he was, you know, missing open receivers.
And two of them happened on a very similar play, friend.
Yeah, they were in, I believe,
consecutive drives, right? There was the third down right before AJ Brown's 41-yard touchdown catch. So
it looked like Devante Smith was breaking wide open, right, on the, on the shallow cross,
and Jalen's looking down the field at Saquan Barkley. And then you go, I believe it was to the next
drive down in the red zone. And he's looking at Devante Smith when he had Seekwan Barclay
going on the wheel route. So what it looked like to me, because they didn't show great replays
on this broadcast, which, you know, that happens when you're going down the chain.
Sanchez, broadcast team.
If the Eagles keep winning games, we're going to get better.
It's a broadcast.
You get down the chain a little bit, less cameras, less, less ability to go to the replays.
But it looks like it was those mesh plays that the Eagles have had so much success with
over the course of this season.
We saw it on the big play to Devante Smith last week.
We saw the Dallas got it against the Saints.
So a play that they are very comfortable running.
Now, what you typically, and this is actually, it's going to be interesting to go back
and watch it on tape because when you get a play like that, there's the progression,
but then there are alerts, right?
So for something pre-snap,
an alert would be, you know,
Jalen talked last week about the AJ Brown
deep throw down the left sideline.
That's an alert, which means when you see something pre-snap,
abandon your progression.
You're not going one, two, three.
That's your throw.
Probably like what happened on the fourth down touchdown pass to AJ in this game.
And actually, I think that was because they were running a play
that's a basically like West Coast concept in the middle of the field.
And he was like, no, I'm not working that.
We're throwing the fade to A.J. Brown
because he had press ban coverage against their fourth corner.
So he got an alert pre-snap,
and so he's looking at Sequin Barclay.
That's when you're throwing the wheel.
Those teams that Vinny was on,
we talked about those mesh concepts
with Chip Kelly and LaShawn McCoy.
And you remember all those plays the LaShawn McCoy
caught out of the backfield in those wheel routes,
that's an alert for the quarterback in that situation
where, hey, I like the match up,
I like the leverage.
It's one-on with the linebacker, whatever it is.
So Jalen saw something pre-snap that said,
hey, you know what, I want to look at Seekwan-Barkley here.
I'm not going to look at the shallow cross.
I'm not going to play the match.
mesh route and then it was just the opposite where he either got a false key on the alert with
Saquan Barkley and that's why he didn't even look his way or you know maybe it was looking and it could
have been something like Devante Smith had no catches up to that point so he was like I'm not
going to even look at the alert I'm going to instead play out the progression I want to try and get the ball to
Devante Smith and he misses Saquan Barkley I can't answer why exactly those two happen but yeah I would
say that it was an uneven performance from Jalen Hertz in this football game and look I know all of
This wasn't Jalen Hertz in the football game
because they were like one for four with Kenny Pickett in
with a lot of Will Shippley runs,
but they were one for 13 on third down today.
And the only conversion on third down was the play
where Jalen Hertz gets hit in the pocket,
takes a clean shot, shakes the contact off and runs for a play.
That's great, great individual play,
but that's obviously not like sustainable, like offense
you can count on from rep to rep.
And so not a good performance from a third down,
pass prediction had a lot to do with that.
A lot to clean up for the past game.
The first half alone.
And again, no points.
in the first quarter.
Concerned at all, Vinnie?
So,
save the worries for another day.
Yeah, yeah, I said save the worries.
Yeah, I said for another day.
Yeah.
Because I, like,
because on the flip side of the things,
it's just like, you're like,
listen, do you know you had press coverage
against A.J. Brown,
and just, that was just willing to want to.
Take it.
My guy's better than your guy.
Touchdown.
And that was a gussy call.
Was that fourth down?
That was fourth down.
Yeah, that was, my heart.
And I think he changes that play.
I looked like he audible to that, to that play.
They ran that same as that play last week.
I want to believe, you know, and it was a gutsy call.
Yep.
Their best offensive plays are kind of gutsy calls or kind of non-traditional dumb calls.
Sometimes it is results of a process.
We were saying that, I mean, we're sitting next to each other watching and we're like,
no, no, no, no, what are they doing?
Touched him.
Yeah.
And you know, that goes to show you that, you know, the way the defense was playing,
you could take that gussy call.
the defense is playing lights out you know like a fire under the ass and they were just all over the field
yeah daniel jones is terrible at home it's really it's really remarkable his home and road splits
like he is a viable NFL quarterback on the road well he's debatable fine a mid at best
quarterback on the road at home he is trash bag juice like the guy is terrible he knows they hate him
it's 22 months without a touchdown say Juan barclay now has as many touchdowns this year as giants
of players at MetLife Stadium.
Take one had more rushing yards than the Giants had total
offensive yards in the game.
That's tough. That's tough.
The numbers, by the way, for Jillen Hertz, 10 of 14
for 114 yards.
14 passes. Only 14 pass at 10.
Wow. Yeah.
And it's the second week in a row where it's been a pretty
conservative game plan offensively in terms
with play selection. Do we, I mean, that kind of begs
a question. Do we know what the eagle's identity is now?
Sequel!
Yeah, I mean, it's down there. That's the, that's the, right?
When it looks their best.
Like, that's, they're a run first team now, which kind of is like a new trend of the NFL this year.
It's like quarterbacks aren't lighting the league up through the air as much.
And a lot of the teams with winning records have really good running games.
So I guess it's not a bad thing to lean into.
Well, Vinnie, you, you teased it.
And I think that's, you know, you're, you're growing into like a pseudo host of a show.
Because let's, let's talk about the defense now.
Oh, man.
Eight sacks for the defense.
They dominated this game up front.
like in run defense as well.
You know, Tyrone Tracy, six for 23,
Devin Singletary, five for 18.
They couldn't do anything against the Eagles.
And Daniel Jones absolutely harassed by the Eagles defense.
Two sacks for Nacobie Dean, two sacks for Jalen Carter,
Nolan Smith, Bryce Huff on the board, Josh Shet, and Jalick's Hunt.
Nice to see them meet.
Oh, man, it was having a psych fest out there.
And, you know, we talked about it early in the week that when, you know,
you guys asked me, what do I think about is Josh
going to be okay or this one i'll say listen when they come they're going to come in bunches
and the way they came there's no better feeling than watch some sacks go down at metlife
stadium today so uh you know the divas really played lights out dr coby dean and uh really show
what he's capable of like the way he timed up his blitzes today was amazing to see and i thought
this had to be nolan smith's best game i thought so too yeah i mean fran probably has some notes on
nolan smith but i i thought nolan smith kind of jumped off the page a little bit he was around
the ball, whether it was a running back or Daniel Jones a lot today.
Yeah, I thought that he showed off well last week against Cleveland.
And so you just want to see guys continue to kind of build on that week after week,
game after game.
And I think we saw some good things from Nolan.
All eight of the sacks came from a four-man rush.
Wow.
Obviously, a couple of them you saw Nicoby Dean, right?
So it can be, you know, obviously that defensive end is dropping out most likely.
But that's the value in having that flexibility off the edge is when you're able to, you know,
send four not give up bodies and coverage and you got some favorable matchups there with
nicoby dean one-on-one scot-free either with the quarterback or one-on-one with the running back and him
being able to win do you think of Andrew Thomas is there it changes much to the that's got to change
a little little bit some of those sacks were so that's the only one i remember beating the left tackle
i think nolan did nolan did huh hans was untouched but the the jillin carter and the way
jillen carter and lola smith worked together today that was straight chemistry you know
You go high, I stay low, I'll push them up to you.
That was insane to see.
People don't talk about it enough, right?
That was insane to see.
Explain that.
Explain that.
How long does that take to develop?
I mean, they've been playing together.
Yeah.
That was just, but just to see it on display today, you know, I'll say, damn.
Like, that's how, that's what everybody's been waiting for to see them to, plus Nicole
Dean go crazy, you know.
Georgia kicked up yesterday, so maybe that added an actual little bit.
No fire under their self
But when I tell you that they showed up
It showed out, man
That was impressive
What do you mean by the high and low?
So, Nolan Smith comes speed rushing off
If you see Jalen Carter, he fakes it and comes back to the side
He, uh, Daniel Jones goes to step up
And he's just right there.
Okay.
So he forced him to step up on one of them rushes.
Because he's going high.
Right.
And if you watched it like after the sack,
he was, you can look at, um,
Nolan goal, I told you.
And then they do their little hand thing.
And it was like,
Oh, that's impressive.
Oh, hold up.
They practiced that, but you know, it's the chemistry, man.
That chemistry, once you got your chemistry with a defensive tackle and have a play off each other, hopefully it's just the beginning.
That's what I always felt you guys had, especially, I want to say like 2015, 2016, 2017.
You really kind of saw the timing work really well, especially on stunts you could see it, where you guys played off each other well.
But, I mean, that takes a lot of time to be able to create that chemistry.
Absolutely.
You know, because you talk about it all week.
and then you work on it and you know like when you do like one-on-ones and at practice you know
you also do two-on-tools so you know you kind of work on with you guys uh feel like we'll work in
the game so to see executed on the Sunday it was crazy said the new guys was pretty pumped up for
it made me pumped up and then I thought it was awesome and sticking with the Georgia guys friend
you said something when we were watching the game with Nacobi Dean it does feel like he's moving
at a different speed when he's coming downhill yeah he just looks more confident when he's just
playing straight downhill. And that
it might mean, when he has that run through,
we saw the on the one sack where it
looked like honestly he was triggering against the run
more so than even, you know, blitzing
the quarterback on that play. But the way
that he was able to get downhill, you just saw
like a different level of speed and burst from him.
There was a play where he lost the corner to a running back again.
Or maybe it might have even been to Daniel Jones where the
runner got outside of him. But again,
he's working to the sideline and that speed does not
show up. But when he is playing downhill,
you know, in that straight line,
that's where you kind of see that burst.
And to me, it's more like the play speed and the confidence.
It's more like a mental thing where it's like when he's decisive and goes,
that's where that speed really shows up.
Super chat from Nick DeVirjilis, who says,
how much success does Siriani need to have this season to not get fired?
Poor Nick Siriani is watching this show from the locker room.
Right now.
Finally, the first episode of the year in which the big conversation is not going to be my job security.
and unfortunately Nick makes it happen
that's okay Jamie what do you think
um
how much
I said in the pregame show
like I kind of believe
and Nick's about the talk
so we'll get right to him
this is kind of like a moment
this was a big momentum point in the year
like you have your little stumble
coming out of the buy
if you can string this together
you kind of have two more
like easiest opponents on the schedule
like you can start believing
and start snowballing here
so like maybe Nick's peacocking around
nude in the locker room right now
I don't know.
Maybe he's really feeling it.
Let's see.
He's at the podium.
Close?
Yes or no?
Jane Daniels left the game with the rib.
Yeah, I was just going to say Jane Daniels out with the rib.
Yeah.
Marcus Mario.
No, you do media.
Ah, he's wearing.
And so I think the thing that I learned this week and I has told the team that it happened, you know, a bunch of different ways.
There was a bunch of different ways that I learned this this week.
It wasn't just through this situation.
that I was in was through, you know, I'm not even going to go into all that, but it's like,
you can be angry.
But angry, all anger does is cloud your ability to, if you really are holding on to anger,
all anger does is cloud your ability to get better, right, and control the things that you
need to control.
So what I said to the team is like, you know, I put my head down, you know, when you have
criticism, when you have those different things, you put your head down and you work even
harder. And the thing about that is, you know, the hard work that the team had and that we had
throughout the week helped put us in position to be successful today. And the other thing it does,
to be quite honest with you, is it unites. And so you can look at it as a positive, a big,
a positive if you allow yourself to do that. And so I think that this game is constantly teaching us
things. And that's what it taught me this week.
He wants so close to his career.
I think you consider keeping him in.
Yeah, you know, I usually like to keep my conversations with guys private.
Frank Reich was always, always would say to me,
make sure we know when somebody's on the verge of doing something really special
because it's hard to do that.
It's hard to recapture that.
Or breaking a record or whatever it is.
You know, similar to Devante breaking the rookie single season record a couple years ago.
You know, we really wanted to get that for him.
And so, you know, that was on our mind because I got the word from the box that he was close to his career high.
And I sat there with him and I said, listen, here's where you are.
And here's what it is.
And he looked at me and he said, I mean, this gives me chills to think about like this guy is such a great teammate.
And all he cares about is winning.
And he looked at me and he said, let the other guys eat.
And I was like, you're special, dude.
And he's a special player.
He's a special person.
You know, I read all the stuff that all the Giants players were saying about them,
and no one said anything.
I said it was going to be war, but they all love them.
And I know this football team loves them.
Man, when somebody self-like, you talk about team and the things that it takes to be a team,
selflessness is a big part of it.
And that guy's selfless.
That guy's a baller, and I can't say enough good things about them.
You know, because I had some apprehension.
I'm like, I don't put Sequin in right now.
we're winning 28 to 3.
Man, do I feel good about putting them in?
But I wanted to leave it up to him, and that's what he told me.
I know you want to be multiple.
You want to be diverse.
You don't want to leave too heavy in one way.
But is this formula maybe something you should lead more into where your guys are going to run it?
I know you got ahead, and that played a factor in it too.
It is what we needed to do this week to win.
If you sense from all the players and the same feeling that you had in terms of taking me of anger
and turning it into a universe,
and grinding out a big win?
This was our best week of practice so far this year, this week.
This week was our best week of practice, pardon me, so far.
I just think that it was just like we know, we know it takes what it takes.
Jaylen always, I love when Jaylin says that.
It takes what, you know, winning takes what it takes.
I love when Jaylin says that because it's true.
Like, there's a price to pay to win.
I love it.
You can't do.
And so I just love it.
I think that they all saw that.
They practiced their butts off.
And I took care of them.
little bit later in the week because of the energy
and the effort that they had in practice, but there were
some good back and forth in practice. I can't
say enough for the scout team guys.
I'd like to name all of them, but
Andre Sam, you know,
what he did on practice squad
and he
was really good this week.
You know, Gabe, Gabe Hall
was really good this week on practice
squad. Oh, yes.
You know, gosh,
Kenny Pickett did a really good job
on practice squad. It was a week.
Ty, T.D. Davis, he did a good job this week on practice squad.
And so it was just, man, I wish I could sit here and say every one of them.
Dude, get to the practice squad list out.
I'm going to say all of them.
No, but it just takes what it takes.
And the work, I could just feel, again, everything uniting us this week and everything
and the work that we put in this week, I had a good feeling we were going to play good because we practice so good.
You spend the day after we can go out.
And I don't know fireworks on this press conference today.
He is so weird.
Vinny, you were whispering about it.
Two weeks in a row now for the defense in which they have not given up a touchdown,
only allowing 119 total yards of offense in this game.
Wow.
You feeling like they have maybe turned things around,
or is this just too bad offenses they've played?
No, I think they turn in the corner.
If you watch today, you see how much passion was there,
how fast they looked.
They do look fast.
They look fast, bro.
That's how they were supposed to look coming in to the, coming off the buy, you know,
which they play good.
But today, they was just popping off the stream.
Like, they look fast to a Daniel Jones on conference was kind of trying to creep up.
Does the speed come from just like comfortability and not thinking as much?
Or like, where does that come from?
What makes it click?
I want to say, for being comfortable in preparation.
And start with preparation.
You know, we've got to understand, like,
as we getting ready to close out October and November and December football is getting ready to be here,
you better be on your A game.
If not, you're going to get booed out of it.
You know, and with, you know, you know how it is in Philadelphia?
Yeah.
It's what have you done for me lately?
Like, you know, but as it right now, this is the first game, I would say,
this season that my blood pressure is not high.
You know, I don't need, I don't need no haul.
It was enjoyable, yeah.
I don't need no cough drops, you know.
This is pretty cool, you know.
Just to see the defense, like I said, fly around like that.
That's even cooler.
To me, the confidence is such an undersold and under-discussed part of playing the sport.
And you can, you can obviously speak to it better than I can.
But like, when you see guys go out and execute and play fast and play confident, to me,
that's when you see the best versions of those players.
And I talked about that with like N'Cobi a little bit ago.
Typically when he's playing downhill and he looks the most decisive and confident,
that's when we see him shine brightest.
And I feel like that all speaks to that.
confidence level across that entire defense. So you might have the numbers on this and sorry to jump in,
but like is there a correlation here between because I know they played a little bit more man press
coverage last week. Is there a little bit of Vic kind of trusting? I don't know, for lack of a
better word, the youth movement and the athleticism, a cornerback a little bit and kind of jamming. Are
the two correlating there? Did they play more man press today up front a little bit and are the two kind
of married to each? I haven't seen any numbers yet in terms of how much they've played. I will say that
typically if you're playing a lot of man, that's either A, the confidence you have in your guys,
sure, or the lack of fear that you have in the opponent, right, in the opposing passing game,
which the past two weeks is probably somewhere in the middle of those. So I know their press coverage
numbers jumped a little bit last week going up against Cleveland. My guess is the numbers are
probably reflective of that here in this one. I think it was probably pretty similar. But how much
of that is just Cooper DeGine and Quignon Mitchell? I mean, Quinnion Mitchell, like, this kid is an
absolute stud. And Cooper de Jeanne didn't like pop off the screen a ton today, but I feel like Vic Fangio
probably has more confidence in them than maybe he should this early into a career. Yeah, Vinny will
probably not like me saying this. I can't wait to go back and watch the coverage on those sacks,
because I always love seeing how those guys are married together. And it seemed like there were a couple
where I was like, Nikobi Dean, outstanding job playing in zone coverage underneath and taking the
throw away. You know, everybody kind of needs those guys to work in concert together in order for
to make it all go. So I'm excited.
to see are there plays where we didn't see Cooper dejean making coverage that took away a throw
made Daniel Jones hold on to the ball and now Bryce Huff gets home for a sack.
Everybody knows all sacks come from the secondary frame.
Well, as you touched on the numbers are not yet in on man versus zone, but they are early
in on the blitz and this could change a little bit.
But like you said, all the sacks coming on four man rushes, this was by far their lowest
blitz percentage, just 5% of the plays, the passing place in this game.
And the D-Line always runs.
That's the thing.
Like if the D-line can get home while you're also covering with seven,
all of a sudden you got the formula for something big,
and they're going to have a much more difficult test next week against Cincinnati.
Absolutely.
Yeah, Jamar Chase is good.
Another thing, I think where we're watching is that defensive front growing up
right in front of eyes, you know.
I like that.
Just, they look poised.
They look calmed out there.
And like I said, they're flying off the ball.
And it helps when you got a good secondary play and lineback of
play and like to see everything jelling together at this right time, hey, I'll take it.
You know, if you're going to peak right now, I'll take it right now, especially going to
play in Cincinnati.
And we talk about guys playing with confidence.
We saw Bryce Huff get on the board last week.
So yeah, he gets that half sack, you know, just gets on the tallyboard, comes back, gets
his first full sack in this one.
According to Next Gen, five pressures on 18 rushes today against the Giants.
His first game with multiple pressures this season, Bryce Huff, and his highest pressure rate
of the season, just under 28 percent pressure.
for Bryce off in this one.
So,
you know, again,
confidence here you start
building on top of each other.
You know,
the,
that's why the whole discussion
about like two point stance,
three point stance,
four point stance,
you know,
if you feel like the coaching staff
was kind of letting them have a bone there
in terms of all right,
you want to put your hand in the ground,
go ahead.
If that makes you feel better,
if that makes you feel better,
hopefully that kind of builds it moving forward.
I think,
I think everybody wanted to,
like you said,
that full man front,
man,
and just letting everybody just call the shit
and get it.
And just letting them just letting it have speed and everything else,
just take over, just whatever you think and just let it go.
You know, I only only see maybe one time,
only seen a zone drop if I even seen one,
but everything else was just let them go.
And we got you guys back here.
Yeah, that first possession, they opened in that five too.
And the first play of the game is Josh Sweets in sort of in coverage,
quote, against Malik neighbors, right?
But Nolan Smith gets the start in this game.
You wonder if that's a nice little reward.
for how hard he was playing last week.
We saw a few other interesting things up front.
There was a play where Josh Schwett was rushing from the inside
and Brandon Graham was rushing from the outside.
But I was just going to run through the snap count numbers here
for those defensive linemen.
Kieland Carter, 44 snaps, continues to play all the time.
Josh Schwett led the edge group with 34, followed by Huff with 25,
Nolan Smith with 24, BG with 18.
And then for the guys inside after Carter, Milton Williams,
with 25. Morrow Ajuma
with 21. Thomas
Booker with 12. Jordan Davis, only 11
snaps. Wow. In this game, a little
bit interesting. Ojoma
with nine more snaps?
Yes. That could have happened.
10 more. Well, I think a jump at the end of the game.
He has probably eight snaps
here when, you know, Sidney Brown and
Keely Ringo and Jellick's Hunt and Jeremiah Trotter
are all on the field, but still not a ton
from Jordan Davis. Yeah, so then that
makes me wonder, you know, what the
you're talking about how they came out in that
five-man front and Josh Sweat got moved outside.
I wonder if they came out and based early.
And then they said,
all right, let's get off of that.
Let's get into more of the nickel fronts and,
and, you know, trying to attack them that way.
That'll be interested to go back and chart that a little bit later.
Yeah, I like that.
Anybody who, anybody else who is like
popping out to you, Vinny, on defense?
Well, Matt Mitchell's got to catch the ball, man.
Yeah, I don't know.
I see that, man.
Yo, he works his ass off, bro.
You got to, he's due for a pick, man.
It's got a little calm.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, and we hear for it.
You know, when you, when you catch that thing, I'm going to need some haul because I'm going to scream, so, you know, crazy.
But I thought I thought he played, you know, his tail off.
Like I said, they always just complimenting each other, man.
And that was just straight Eagles defense that we've been waiting to see, you know, for the last couple weeks.
And just to be able to sit here, blood pressures down and talk greatly, you know, on how good the defense played is amazing.
Yeah, I gave out under.
Malik neighbor 75 yards on the PHLI bets this morning because of the confidence I have in Quinyan
and I'll be excited to see like you know the film warriors like Fran and others that like break this
down and see you know how much was he on neighbors because you didn't hear neighbors name much at all
today this this Quinyon kid and it's physical too yeah I think he's like I think this kid's special
like all pro potential for several years to come this kid's been unbelievable yeah and Cooper de Jean
again you're not hearing his name a ton today
That can be a good thing when you're a cornerback.
So I think these two young kids are maybe kind of shape-shifting the defense a little bit
and giving Uncle Vick some more toys to play with.
All right, a super chat from Roe Heat, who has a nice little dose of reality,
which I think is a fair point.
Oh, Johnson and Johnson.
Fred Johnson has upcoming one-on-ones against Trey Hendrickson,
Josh Hines Allen, and Micah Parsons, assuming they're all healthy.
Those are, of course, the next three games with Jordan Milata,
on injured reserve, meaning he's going to have to miss at least the next three
games roheed says looks like a major problem i do not disagree can you put steen out there is that
something they look at i think that is a real possibility the concussions though with with most players
usually keep a guy out a week i mean it used to be like a guy got concussion and it's like oh there's a
good chance it comes back uh i think the last in case people don't know mckeye beckton leaves
this game with a concussion and and does not come back so yeah obviously we don't know you know
they got to go through the protocol it seems like the trend has been over the last year uh since the start
of the of the 2020 season, that concussion,
that the protocol has just been a little bit more conservative,
and those guys have missed the following game.
So my guess is we'll probably see Steen next week at right card.
I think so.
And then Fred Johnson at left tackle,
which that will be a difficult assignment.
And as you guys know,
and as we talked about during the week,
you know,
the Eagles' offensive line philosophy
is not to give those guys a lot of help.
Like Fred Johnson's going to have to block Ray Hendrickson.
So here's my thing watching Fred Johnson last week,
watching him, you know, earlier this season.
and even in this game.
When he,
obviously,
he's a big,
strong guy,
right?
Like,
he's a large human being,
but so many of his rush,
the pressures that he has given up,
having guys going through his chest,
you wouldn't expect that for such a big guy.
But I think when he is stressed for,
to try and defend speed.
And Vinny,
you can talk about how rushers try to set this up, right?
They'll try and set up their speed
and then they go speed to power and get inside his chest.
And that's when he gets driven backwards.
He gets so worried about speed.
You know who does that as well as anybody in football is Trey Hendrickson.
So to me,
like Hendrickson's got to be licking his chops, I would think,
when he goes to watch the Fred Johnson
film. Vinny, you know who Fred Johnson reminds
me of? Guy played with your rookie year.
Yeah, I know you're going to go with. King Dunlap.
Oh, yeah.
Huge body.
His body, yes. Right?
Yes, yes, yes. If you get inside his chest,
you can push him back a little bit.
Yeah, yeah, I can see the body type. Yeah, I definitely
can see that, but I want to say that hopefully
they'll give him some help.
I'll rather have some chip block
or some play action because
Seiquot, it's going to take care of the majority of that.
So you think he's going to tee off on our backup left tackle.
I don't think that's going to happen.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I hope so does not happen.
Like, I just seem crazier things in this league.
But, you know.
That's why watching Hendrickson this year, especially, like so many of his rushes
have come that way where he'll set up the speed early and he wins with his hands and he
can clear that the top of the rush.
But then he puts his foot in the ground late in the game, the second half,
and he goes right through guy's chest.
that would concern me with Fred Johnson.
It's kind of exciting that this is going to be a week
where they like the off-field storylines, the drama.
I'm looking forward to the football.
Yeah.
We've got a football week.
Yeah.
A very good offense with the Bengals,
a defense that seems to be turning around.
He goes now four and two.
They go on the road and win in Cincinnati like that.
You feel a little bit different.
It's like a,
we've got a football game to break down.
Joe Burrell holds the ball.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And Quinyon-Mitchell is going to face one of the,
best in the game you know so like there's a lot of there's a lot of ex and oh stuff to really look forward to
in this game and it is nice it's a fran duffy week speed my last yeah you know like i did the show on wednesday
and i was so over the nix sriani conversation i wanted to like puke just talking about it it is nice
to just like kind of get back to football a little bit here well let's make it a friend duffy moment now
as we break down the long run for saquine barclay that opens things up for the offense uh the 55
Yarder in the second quarter. Yeah, so I think we have some video, you know, of the clip. So basically the
big thing. And again, this is actually was another play that we saw a lot from the Eagles, ironically,
in the, in the chip Kelly era, that's that pin pull sweep where you've got the guys in the
outside. And if there's a tight end outside the tackle or if it's just the tackle, they're going to
pin down. They're going to block from the outside in. And then you're going to get the guys that are
inside, the guards and the centers all depends on how the front is aligned. You're going to get them
pulling out. And so you see Cam Juergens here. He does a great.
job obviously as the polar you saw the contact he was able to make with that defender at the
second level but when we go back to this to watch this one more time look at the block from fred
johnson here on the defense event this is one of the biggest blocks to spring this thing free because
if he does not get outside and pin that defensive end in you can see that block there if fred johnson
doesn't make that block this one doesn't get going and you see that even if that defense event doesn't make
the play he at least slows barclay up to the point where he can't get to top speed can't get to the
corner and now more of these giant's jerseys are able to get there and so the big thing there is you
obviously cam jergins block is huge but you that doesn't not happen without fred johnson his ability to be
able to seal the edge there and create that crease for saiquan to be able to work and that's when
say quine gets to 22 miles an hour yeah not too bad he's he seemed to he knew his numbers huh
yeah he seems like yeah like that that means something to him yeah yeah i guess maybe coming off the
knee like once he sees like consists in 21 and 22s like maybe he starts to like
Because, you know, I'm not comparing myself to any sort of professional athlete.
I get 24 sometimes.
But I shredded my ACL MCL and meniscus once.
And it's amazing how mental it is, more so than physical, like, in just the confidence
you have in it.
So, like, maybe when he sees that miles per hour, he's just getting more and more confident.
When I'm playing ping pong out here, I try to get to 24.
Pop a shot, man.
There's a lot of quick movements.
It's crazy because I think the energy that, you know, that Philadelphia is embracing him
is even giving him more confidence as well
because like I said,
the kid is playing out of his mind right now.
And the other thing too
in terms of him knowing his numbers,
he had the whole fourth quarter off.
My guess is he has a conversation
that was sideline
and I'll ask some of those questions.
You might be right.
All right.
We're going to hear from Zach Berman in a little bit,
but before that we're going to talk about
a different ZB.
That's our friends at Z biotics
because if there is a sure fireway
to wake up feeling fresh
after a night of drinking,
if you're sucking back those middle of lights,
Jamie. It's with pre-alcohol. And Z-biotics, pre-alcohol, probiotic drink is the world's first
genetically engineered probiotic. It was invented by PhD scientists to tackle rough mornings after drinking.
Here's how it works. When you drink, alcohol gets converted into a toxic byproduct in the gut.
It is this byproduct and not dehydration that is to blame for your rough next day.
Pre-accohol produces an enzyme to break this byproduct down. Just remember to make Zibiotics your first drink of
the night, drink responsibly, and you'll feel your best tomorrow. We keep hearing about pre-alcohol,
and we wonder what it's actually like. Well, you can do it as well. Now that we've tried it,

Mark Financial before and the great work they do. They're located right here in Fort Washington
and they have area branches all around the country. Now, when I was in college, I was an absolute
moron and I ruined my credit because I didn't think financial literacy was important. I was just racking
up credit card bills and going to Acapulco, like a total bozo.
Interesting. Yeah, I did. I'd like to do a full episode on that. Yeah, we could. I went to
Jamaica and Cancun on credit cards. And, you know, the point I'm getting at here, Beau, before I go
down a rabbit hole is that I was a moron. And financial literacy is very, very important, especially

Yeah, but I mean you got to go to Jamaica. Oh, I had a blast. I regret nothing, but I wish I was
you know, financially a little more red.
You know, I have to apologize to the audience here
and mostly to Vinny because Vinny,
I didn't mean to offend you during when we were watching the game,
but I didn't know that you were the guy who brought
We All We Got to the Eagles.
Yeah, yeah, I did.
I've been saying that since high school.
Yeah, we all we got, we all we need.
I didn't know that.
Did you guys know that?
I did not know that.
I mean, it wasn't in either of Zach's books.
So what are the hell, Sam?
That's a good point about that.
Sounds like we need a new chapter.
Yeah, yeah.
Or we need a new book.
We all we got, or I all I got.
Why not?
Super chat from Aaron, just shouting us out.
We appreciate that, Aaron.
Good stuff.
And the truth says,
might move my money from citizens to True Mark.
Do it up.
Oh.
Love that.
There you go.
Now, Vinny, you also have a very good Mark Sanchez story,
if you don't mind sharing that one.
Oh, no.
This is where Vinny learned.
He's never off the record.
He's a great story.
This is not a bad thing.
This is funny.
I mean, it is, but you know, you all.
Oh, I've been a beer for this story.
Yeah, so, um.
It's 2015.
The team is struggling a little bit.
You live near Mark Sanchez.
You get a knock on the door.
Yeah, he's like, yo, bro.
Yo, bro.
Where's your phone?
I said, I said, I said, what's up.
What's up?
What's up?
What's up?
He's like, he's like.
brody fired jip kelly
what
it was crazy
I got to my phone
it was like 13 14 missed calls
so like different teammates or whatever
I know group text but
man that was just
it was funny
it was funny
it's a very good
trivet question
he's a lot going on the team at the time
you know sure
like he wanted
different people wanting to play
and he had different people in place
and you just had to be there
to understand why he knocked on a door
and it was like yo
bro.
It's very good.
Okay, so big picture, Jamie, after this win,
do you feel significantly differently than you did yesterday?
Significantly, no, but I do feel much better.
Like, it was a little bit of a palate cleanser.
It's kind of like that little bit of sorbet before the next course is coming out.
The Bengals are going to be...
That would be a real test.
That is going to be like the biggest test.
but to get two in a row here out of the buy
at the end of the day that's all you can ask for
today was a little prettier than last week
so baby steps to the Bengals
you know Seyquan Barkley's a beast
this defense is looking a lot better
we didn't have any like in-game management
buffoonery today
that really jumps out at me
so it kind of feels like it's headed
in the right direction here
and you know these next two games are both winnable
so like you have a chance to really snowball
this into something good
what about you friend yeah i mean i don't i don't feel too different uh it's certainly to as as jamie noted
it definitely is a pallet cleanser when you have a 28 to 3 victory over a division opponent
especially a team that you felt like you could go in and have this kind of win like to just
see that through i think is big we even talked about half favorites yeah we talked at half time
we said all right like the litmus test is yes can this team just go out and finish the job and so
they were able to go out and do that i think that's big for their confidence moving forward
I think the big thing, though, look, Cincinnati, I know people are like,
Lally, I got off to a slow start.
That offense is legit.
They're still putting up points.
Yeah, I mean, Joe Burrow, Jamar Chase, T. Higgins.
Chase Brown is running really, really, really well.
They're getting some good contributions from Andre Yoshavas at receiver.
Oh, yeah.
Hibbs of love, obviously.
I really hope that he and Michael have done swap jerseys today.
The only thing that I want.
Before the game.
Defensively, look, they're not great on defense, Cincinnati, but.
What happened to Anaruma?
you know what happened is that they didn't they haven't drafted well defensively the last couple
years and so they they lost some guys to free agency and then they haven't they haven't been able
to backfill a lot of those spots but uh that said he's still going to put a game plan together
that's going to try and confuse jalen hertz say they're going to throw a bunch of different things
at them some pressure some coverage looks disguise like they're going to keep them on their toes
next week's not going to be easy out in cincere i think my general stance is that i i do feel better
about the defense i think they have to go and prove it against cincinnati but the fact that
that even though these offenses that they played
the last two weeks were both Garbonso Beans,
they were able to actually hold it together
and the defensive line does look like it has some juice.
And even if it's not fully real,
the confidence that they have now,
you hope that that that carries over.
I'm still a little bit wary of the offense.
I don't know that the way that they scored 28 points today
is a sustainable way to play.
Yeah, I mean, obviously, look,
they lean heavily into the rushing attack.
During a Nixirani's presser,
I just went through it and just kind of cycle through all the past plays.
And I'll just really quickly buzz through
them so yeah the under center play action on the first play of the game a j brown 11 yards they're allowed to do
that they they figured that out today uh so they went for completion of the first play of the game uh sack
check down screen sack screen another under center play action curled a j brown wow sack check down
crosser to grant cockatara throw away on the mesh play the go ball and fourth down to a j
brown only on the uh the audible there on the alert bubble screen to devante smith for minus two
one can't for negative two yards for Devonte today
and you probably could he probably should have handed that ball off
on the RPO oh I haven't been fantasy
scramble for Jalen Hertz
sack screen go ball and complete
on the audible to Jahan Dotson on a third
third and five a play action throw to
a J. Brown
scramble scramble scramble scramble
A lot of play action in there which I got a lot
There's three play action play plays yeah for a lot
It feels like a lot
It was a very conservative game plan
and not a lot of like...
Everything to the outside.
I mean, again, but...
Yeah, like a lot of...
But is this their identity now?
Like, I know it goes week to week, an opponent and a opponent.
Lay up some three-pointers, right?
It's like, yeah, they're not throwing the ball over the middle.
No.
But look, they've had success.
That's the thing about this whole conversation when it comes to, like, the identity of the past game.
They've had success doing it.
Sure.
It's just the, you're going to deal with the frustration of top three talent offensively,
playing like a top 10 unit as opposed to...
a top three talented offense playing like a top three unit every year every year every
the week why can a j brown slants and quick hitters be a thing they did i mean the one the last
one they threw was the play action slant uh for first down it was uh first and ten went for 15
like why he made that be like their go-to game playing was a good way to not turn the ball over
yeah to keep the wall safe and to avoid that had that pass rush no doubt yeah they still can't
turn it over because i mean burns and dex law started to pick up steam you know bro
I think it up steam
We need a
That might be the thickest neck I've ever seen
I think it was
Shout out to Defob Noah
Who said that right now Cam Jergens
Is a little bit like early career
Jason Kelsey where it's like he really does
He looks awesome on the move
But he does struggle a little bit against those really big guys
And you saw Dexter Lawrence really pushing him back today
Yeah it took Jason
He's talked about this on his podcast
Like I took him a few years to know
Like this is how I have to play against a guy like this
And even you know
I'm sure that Kelsey kind of like pass some of those lessons on to Cam, but I think the only way, the best way to learn is to do it.
Yes.
When you have 345 pounds of Dexter Lawrence in your face, like some of that can go out the window until you actually do it.
And by the way, I do totally agree with what Kelsey tweeted about Sequin.
Like the idea of Giants fans being so angry at Sequin as if he is the traitor is insane to me.
Well, their mouth, their mouth breathers up there, but he very clearly wanted to stay on that team.
They didn't pay him.
Now, you could argue it's not worth paying a running back if that's,
if that's,
right,
you know,
thought,
but like they're paying Daniel Jones.
They could have paid,
like,
like,
Sagan wanted to be there.
He's not the traitor.
No.
Like,
it's an open market and they didn't want to pay him.
And the Eagles did.
Yeah.
And also,
like,
who are they protecting this franchise that's run like a bunch of,
run by a bunch of buffoons.
They can't win games.
It's ridiculous.
Um,
okay,
we had another super chat,
Julia.
We got one from Aaron who says,
this is the first time the Eagles defense hasn't given up
an offensive touchdown and back-to-back games
since weeks 11 and 12
of the 2017 season.
Pretty good, Vinny. I think you remember that well.
Yeah, how'd that work out?
Oh, man.
Do you remember that two-game stretch?
Yeah, I won't have to try it.
The Luke Falk game and then the
Bears game? Was that that late?
The Woodville.
It might have been Denver. Oh, Denver.
Why have been Denver?
Yeah, they steam, you guys steamrolled.
Yeah, it might have been Denver.
Yeah.
So what's this bus ride home like?
Y'all.
Hey, yo, what's crazy?
Yeah, I mean, it's crazy, man.
Listen, like, we, we can be sitting here.
We, you know, we, we're trying to define the perfect game,
but they put up, what, 20, 28 to 3, like 28 points.
Yeah.
To the New York Giants, three points at MetLife, you know,
that's an impressive win.
It's still a division win.
No doubt.
You know, and like I said, like, like, giants,
The Giants fans has a little bit of hope.
Like, they really thought they were going to win this game for some reason
because they're, they're letting, yeah, you know,
they're letting the things that we say about our team
defect the way they really supposed to play.
Like, no, wait, we can say that about a team,
but they're going to come out and kick your ass, you know what I mean?
It's like, it's nowhere around that point.
And there was a view out there of, like, the NFC East being up for grass.
Yeah, that's still, you know, very much is.
You know, Jaden Daniels will see how extensive his rib injury is,
but Dallas is, like, clearly the worst,
which is hilarious.
But it's very much up for grabs.
I know I'm bet 365,
the Eagles are still the favorite
to win the division.
But if I'm a Giants fan
and I need to get drunk
on some hope and optimism,
like, yeah, I might have talked myself
and do like...
You got neighbors.
Yeah, you know?
Like, Jaden Daniel's mom
just tweeted he's fine.
Yeah.
Okay.
There you go.
He's lighting it up,
but he is skinny, man.
Yeah, he is skinny.
You know what we haven't talked about yet?
The Sequin Wildcat play
with a,
like the fake end around to Devante with Jill and Hertz.
That was pretty dumb.
What are we doing?
Yeah.
I mean, that was a second and medium play that brought up third long.
For an offer.
Again, like the final numbers were one for 13 on third down, but they were one for, they were one for 10 with the starters in on third down.
It's that's something that they have to obviously get corrected against, you know, Cincinnati moving forward.
Is that the sound of our man?
Oh, no.
Not yet.
Okay.
I thought that was.
I think Zach is partying in that locker room right now, bro.
You know what I mean?
He's partying in the locker room.
I'm pretty sure he's promoting that book.
Oh, I would have been promoting the book.
So when you get home from like a long road trip after like a big win,
are you just like with family or do you throw on games and kind of just chill out?
Do you actually watch football after a game?
Oh, yeah.
We all do.
Yeah?
Yeah.
We either, you know.
Because I've heard a lot of guys say, oh, I don't really watch football.
Oh, my cat.
Yeah.
All right.
good. That's what I thought. Yeah, yeah. You know,
you especially have a win like this, you're drilling it and still rushing, you know,
once you get back, you go eat with the guys, eat somewhere, then, you know, what kind of
watch the game. Then I see y'all later. Yeah.
But, man, like that, this was a great win, you know, a great confidence boosting, great win,
you know, to go into, to get ready for Cincinnati, you know,
with Joe Burrow, he holds the ball, you know, a little long as well.
and if the defense align
and that defense can keep this play up
we're going to be here smiling
and drinking Miller light next week
look at you
I know that's toast in the city
we can't drink the miller light
without having some Zipaiotics beforehand
obviously
Devon our own Devon
Givens texted in I said Dexter Lawrence
has the thickest neck ever
he said I gotta go to Keo
so to Keo might have a pound
to Keo for sure
yeah that was not normal
Dexter Lawrence's head
to neck. It's just, it's magnificent. It's huge.
Dude, it's quite a neck.
No wonder. All right. One more super chat we have from CDP, who says,
should the Eagles get Mike Williams jump ball receiver for Jalen and Joey D. love losing.
You know, I don't know. I think, I don't know that Jailen Hertz is going to throw to any other
wide receivers. I say no. Yeah. I mean, we talked about Dotson, like, yeah.
I think if you can show me a contestant ball against AJ Brown that he didn't get,
then maybe, but AJ Brown is in the class and the league of his own.
Great point.
Yeah, because any ball that goes to Mike Williams on those jump balls outside the numbers,
and if it goes incomplete, the first question is, why isn't that ball going to AJ?
So, yeah, that's a no-win situation there.
Yeah, I agree with that.
Are you worried at all about Devante not being involved in this game?
No, not really.
That's, I think it was just kind of like how the, how the game worked out.
14 passes, right?
Like, there's not a lot to go around.
Well, yeah.
And again, because how many of those were like design screens and checkdowns?
Now, at least one of those sacks was a play.
I think it was one of the third down ones.
I want to say it was the Dexter Lawrence one.
The first Dexter Lawrence sack was a play action shot play.
They were hoping to hit Devante Smith on the deep post route over the middle of
the field.
I just saw the next gen put out the dots of that play.
So I went and watched that back and it looked like they had and looked like he was going to break open based off the dots.
So I'll go back and see what that looks like on film.
But they wanted him there.
There was the shallow cross down in the end zone that we talked about, right, where he's looking at Seekwan.
And so opportunities were there for DeVante.
And they just didn't go his way in this game.
So I'm not necessarily worried about it.
What you don't want to happen is, hey, you know what, Jalen, and I'm not saying that this happened.
But like the, what you don't want is then, you know, Jalen is.
starting to press because he wants to get, he knows,
but Devonty Smith doesn't have a target. I got to make sure I get him a target.
And now I'm not reading plays outright because I know I need to get the ball to six,
right? And it would be the same thing if it were AJ.
You want him to still play within the flow, within the natural progression of each
of those plays. And so you don't want that to happen.
Devante's not a guy that's going to make a huge stink like after, you know,
but you just want to make sure everybody's, everybody's happy.
But that, I think to me, hearing Kellan Moore talk about like their plan for like opening
scripts and he's like oh we want to make sure we get everybody touches that's kind of set off like alarm
bells for me is like oh like that that's important to them that they want to make sure that everybody
everybody gets a little bit early yeah so then that way there's no complaining later but yeah that those
would be the things that would concern me from something like that just to follow up for it's worth
just looking at the first three quarter since the fourth quarter was so much garbage time okay
planning wise the eagles in this game they played 11 personnel 64% of the time and only 25% of the
time in 12, which was a bit of a surprise.
They were 50% last week and 12 personnel.
So I doubt that back a little bit more next week as we talked about the left tackle issue.
I bet they do a little more 12 and maybe chip.
My guess is the injuries in the giant secondary had something to do with that too.
They probably wanted to keep them a nickel, keep that fourth corner out in the field.
They may not have wanted to then to get into base with one less corner.
And it did not look like as opposed to what they did earlier in the season when they were in 11.
it was Dotson most of the time in the slot today and Devante on the outside,
which maybe that is a part of the reason why he was not quite as involved in the passing game.
That's how he gets open a lot of the time.
You know, hey, if John Dotson is going to be running routes and not getting the ball,
let's have him run the routes to the area where Jalen's not throwing the football to the middle of the field.
Well, yeah, maybe that's the case.
All right.
Let's throw our ball now to Mr. Zach Berman himself, who is in what I believe to be his favorite place on Earth,
MetLife Stadium, the classiest place.
around Zach, how you doing?
What was the vibe in the locker room?
My favorite place on Earth is being there with you guys.
So this is, I suppose, the next best thing, right?
It's fired at your family.
Yeah, geez.
Yeah, fair enough.
We're not going there.
No, the vibe in the locker room, look, this was a locker room that kind of felt like
they saw this coming, right?
That it was the type of game they expected.
It was a locker room.
I don't want to say it was like, and I told you so a locker room,
but it was like, yeah,
This is who they felt they are.
Defensively, you heard that offensively.
I don't think anyone was surprised by the way Sequin played.
So this was a team that I think expected this type of performance, this type of win.
It maybe came a little later in the season than they thought, then fans thought.
But I don't think this was a team that acted surprised by the way this panned out today.
All right.
And so Seguan Barkley, who had 176 rushing.
yards in this game what was the uh you know like the the support for him in the locker room and what was
the we did get to watch his press conference after after the game so you don't have to go over
that necessarily but what was the vibe about the game that he had yeah that they expected this right
and you know i think they you know the the sentiment was this this was a big deal to say kwan like
don't kind of take it from him that it that it wasn't this this was a big deal now it was interesting
the Lenn kind of did you guys watch
Nick or no
we got a little bit of Nick
yeah a little bit of Nick okay so did you hear what Nick said
about about the record
about not giving me in for the record yeah yes
okay all right yeah so that was so
you know it was interesting there because it was
it was close like this is throughout the game
this was the dominant storyline
like to give you some some some color from the stadium
you know I I did not see
Sequin Jersey's being burned in the parking lot
like Sequan did
but I did see, you know, 26 Giants jerseys or jerseys that are, you know, number 26 giants
with Saquan's name either X-Dow or like a piece of tape over it with someone else's name there.
So, yeah, look, this was an emotionally charged game.
This was an emotionally charged game, and this was the type of thing that it really resonated within the locker room.
And I think, you know, they, I don't think they're surprised by the way Seypon's playing.
Like, he's, he's shown this really since he got here.
He showed this in Brazil.
You know, he has as many 100-yard games in six weeks as anyone during the Nix Ariani era has, like, in a season, right?
So this isn't a surprise to a lot of guys in here.
J-Ellen Hertz said, did you guys listen to J-Lan?
I don't want to repeat it.
Okay.
So Jalen was said, he said that when it happens the second time, you know, in terms of a player going back and doing it like that, it's coincidence.
When it happens the third time, it's precedent.
So he says we need to see who they can do it for next time.
So maybe the Jahan Dotson return game or something like that, right?
But he was asked about it in the framework of A.J. Brown and the game A.J. had against Tennessee last year.
And then, you know, Sequin follows it up with this game.
And then there was a lot of, you know, like support for Nick in the locker room.
But Sequan specifically, these guys expected this type of game.
They knew how significant it was for them.
And they saw it from the jump in terms of the way he played.
Zach, how fired up was the defense in the locker room?
Two straight games, no touchdowns allowed.
A ton of sacks in both games.
We were talking about it during the show.
It looks like they're playing faster with more confidence.
Is that defense feeling pretty good in the locker room today?
Oh, absolutely.
I spoke to a number of the defensive players.
And when I said that they saw this coming,
that's more kind of targeted toward the defense
because that was a sentiment that was shared collectively.
And Vinny knows this with this well.
You hear the expression, Sacks coming bunches.
Like they're not surprised by the way these past two weeks have looked that way.
There's a lot of, you know, there's a sense of the way they practice.
You know, I spoke to C.J. Gardner Johnson,
and he talked about the way they practiced during these past two weeks.
You know, Josh Sweat, he said that his, he felt he's been a productive pass rush all along this season.
It's just kind of the sacks are coming now.
He didn't think like anything is different the past two weeks.
I spoke to a few of the Georgia guys.
And, you know, they said this is kind of what the design of this was, right?
Like they're expected to have this type of performance.
Jay one Carter with two sacks, Nolan Smith with a sack, Nicopi Dean with two sacks.
So, you know, Jordan Davis said, like, this is why they're here.
And they want to be the guys to carry the team.
So to answer your question, Jamie, the sentiment was, like, it's not necessarily that anything changed.
They felt that they've had the talent.
They felt that, you know, Vic, that directions there from Vic Vanjio, but they thought this type of game was coming.
And if I can add commentary there, I think a lot of it, too, has to do with the quarterbacks they face these last two weeks, right?
I'm not sure it's going to look like this against Joe Burrow next week.
Well, Zach, Vinny raises the point that Joe Barrow holds onto the ball a lot.
This is also the, you know, okay, yeah, so then that could too.
But I've covered games when, you know, Vinny's been out there where it's like everybody eats, right?
And I kind of feel like, you know, defensive players, and I don't want to speak for Vinny here,
but defensive players know when it's that kind of game, you want to kind of get your stats that day, right?
because, and that's really what it felt like across the board on defense.
Zach, you would think that the Maras, is it Maras or Marras?
Marrars.
You would think that the Maras, if they were classy, would have better Wi-Fi.
Is my connection bad?
It's okay.
I mean, for New York, it should be better.
You're like a, what you talk is like a back-in-day, bootleg movie.
You talk there and then the words come like 15 seconds later.
It's the job, yeah.
So, you know, interestingly, they don't have, I don't want to say it's a pet peeve of mine.
They don't have.
They don't have.
They don't have.
I need a chapter in that new book.
Yeah.
We need a new book.
They don't have the dedicated media.
That Vinnie is the person who brought we all we got, we all we need to the Eagles.
I did not know that.
I thought, I thought Brian Dawkins said that.
What?
Oh.
Is my wrong there?
Call him a liar?
No, no, no, no, no.
What will make you think?
Let me ask you that.
What made you think that?
I thought.
You saw was, which I don't know if it was this season or last season,
what you saw was him in a pre-game hype video for the Eagles' intro season saying it.
Is that what it is?
Okay.
All right, fair enough then.
That's what you saw.
You deserve.
You deserve great.
I got a phone.
all about that like damn man you should have patting that thing although i do want to push back on
on on that sentiment though right because like that we all we got we all we need i i i always thought
that when you when you guys are playing well you got you know 70 000 people in the stadium
behind you you got you know x million people in the though were valley behind you uh so yeah it's
i i understand the sentiment about locker is all you guys you're in another zone now that we all we need
came from. Remember, we had just got a new
Rujin and we was, we didn't start off hot.
We didn't start off pretty, pretty good. And they was
on us. Oh, Vinie, this one, this one, this one, this one. Oh, this is
shoot damn, man. You know what I mean? Can't let it leak into the locker room, man.
That's what we all we need thing came from and then just transferred
to the next year. Well, but we've been saying we all we got
since I've been here.
You're like those damn journalists and media members
are talking bad about us.
We don't need them.
Yeah, so that's what I kind of came from.
So, yeah, man, damn, you didn't know that.
That's crazy.
Come on, Zach, man.
You write books and stuff like that, now.
I got to do better reporting than that.
Somebody over there, fall down.
Yo, yeah.
Yeah, look, you.
I need that a lot to the paperback
that Vinny Carey deserves credit.
that one now you're also some comments in the chat Zach about the the background here tell us what
we got because some people think it looks like you're peeing sitting down
definitely not all right so here you go um i'm going to turn my computer around for you here i can
hold this i'm in a booth so you got the stadium there but so at nova care or not nova care at the
link the um section behind me is a little lower so you can put your computer up if i
put the computer up there, you would just see the top of my head. Now, the good thing is,
I got a full head of hair there for you for everyone to see. But the, uh, wow, that's a 28 to
three comment right there, but, but the bad thing is there. You would not see, you would not see,
uh, you would not see me getting frozen on camera. I'm sorry, you want to talk about Nazis?
Oh, no. Well, definitely, definitely not going near that one. Um, so, uh, so, so by the way,
This is not my lens is is not the issue here.
I'm underneath a light.
I see in the chat.
Someone says clean the lens.
I'm underneath a light.
So it's the ray of lights here.
I hustled up from the locker room to make sure I was here.
I knew you guys were like an hour plus deep into this.
So I didn't want to keep you waiting.
I wanted to make sure that I got on.
We appreciate that.
But the backdrop, I couldn't.
I love this stadium.
I obviously don't love the Wi-Fi right now.
But I wish that the backdrop was a little more conducive.
Hopefully, Cincinnati next week, you can get a little, you know, you can get like the tiger stripe somehow in the backdrop.
So who else did you talk to in the locker room, Zach?
Yeah, so I was all around that locker room today, you know, speaking to Jordan Davis, Nikobi Dean, C.J. Gartner Johnson, Josh, Josh Sweat, a little bit of Tyler Steen.
Yeah, there were, yeah, I might be missing a few guys. I was, I was bouncing around. I did not get to speak to A.J. Brown, unfortunately.
but, you know, I really want to get a sense of the defense, their perspective.
And then a lot on Saquan, you know, like, you know, that's obviously a big story here.
And then, you know, obviously speaking to J.O. and Hertz, too.
He said that fourth down play, I'll give you some insight here.
He said that was not a check.
He said, why do guys think everything's a check?
He said, that was not a check.
That was just an aggressive play call.
And it worked.
You know, he said that as far as, like, these snaps or, like, the amount of throws,
he said, you know, you want games like this where every game is something different.
There's times when they have to throw a lot.
There's times when they don't.
He got mad that no one kind of asked him about the defense.
You got mad that no one talked about it's the defense.
I wasn't thinking to ask him about the defense.
But, you know, when I asked kind of the big picture takeaway from the game,
you know, I said, how do you feel about your offense after six weeks?
He says, you haven't asked him about the defense yet.
And so, but Janwin kind of gave a bit of, you know, he wanted to keep his conversations with Sequin private.
But I thought that was interesting.
His response to the fourth down question was why he,
guys think everything's a check.
And he said that was not checked.
That was just an aggressive play call.
Can you ask my man what he thought of the game?
I got the AirPods in, so he didn't hear you guys laugh.
Yeah, but I want to know what he thinks.
Ask him what he thought of the game.
Daniel Jones hasn't thrown a touch on a MetLife, Zach, in 22 months.
Let's get him in here to talk about it.
Is that right?
David Jones?
Okay.
I was...
He's terrible at MetLife Stadium, Zach.
Yeah.
This is actually...
Today was Seekwon Barkley's career high in MetLife.
But yeah, Daniel Jones, man, they've been on the wrong horse.
Yeah, the Giants bet on the wrong horse.
And I got to say, like, I don't think Joe Zhang gets fired after this one.
But if you think back to the John Robinson thing, like two days later, that went back to bite him.
So, you know, Jordan Davis after the game said he surprised the Giants didn't run the ball,
or the Giants didn't run the ball as much as the Eagles thought they were going to.
I was going to put in.
Well, that's because they don't have Sequin, right?
But I imagine, I mean, look, I think the Eagles would be the better team regardless here.
But I thought that, you know, if Sequin was in blue today, it would have made a difference.
All right.
I want to ask on the Joe Shane front, I want to ask everybody here this question, because I imagine that Joe Shane is going to have a tough day tomorrow either way.
What's the, what's the worst or the angriest a boss has ever been at you in your working career?
Oh, man.
start with you, Zach.
You want me to answer first?
Yeah.
I would say,
ah, man, you know,
there was a time when there was a,
you know what?
Trying to think you.
Because I'm going to be honest,
it's usually I'm more mad at myself.
It doesn't surprise any of us, yeah.
No, so this, it kind of works like the person,
like the boss is expecting to be mad at me,
and then I just beat myself up so much
that they probably feel bad for me by the end of the conversation.
So there was a time when actually when Tony Bennett was hired.
And I thought that it was going to be, you know,
I had heard rumors that it was going to be Tubby Smith.
The Tubby Smith was the guy they were going after.
And I was actually, I believe I was all my way to the Charlottesville Airport to kind of track
something on Tubby Smith if memory serves.
And then they hired Tony Bennett.
And I'm like, oh, God, this wasn't even on my radar, right?
Which is extraordinarily embarrassing.
And I was, I was like apocalyptic.
Like, I was the amount of responsibility I was taking.
Like, no one would ask me an accountability question thereafter.
I was, and I vowed that day that the next hire I would break.
And Virginia hired Mike London to replace Algrove a few months later.
And I was on at the same time as the national reporter.
I felt pretty good about that.
But yeah, he was mad about that.
And then, yeah, that's probably about it.
I would say, I don't want to monopolize the conversation here.
Fran, what jumps to mind for you?
One of a handful of times when I was working at Temple and something with video didn't work.
So that's ultimately on me because I was the head video coordinator at Temple at the time.
So, you know, team meetings, you know, defensive room.
like anything where it's like if the film's not right and I was like one of the things I
learned from the coaches are that the film better be right the end of the day the film better be
right uh and so there were times where we went on the road and you know this is back in the day
like technology is a little different in terms of like getting stuff at the cloud but like
all the meetings for the hotel like all the video didn't work and getting stuff to the laptops like
who's that's a tough one and who's reaming you out uh coach golden was always pretty good at uh you know
let me have it but then he was always good at like um you know
Like, all right, I'm going to give this to you now.
Right.
I'll be back in 10 minutes to check on you and make sure everything's good.
So he was, yeah, there were a couple of those were.
And honestly, the ones where he was most mad weren't the ones where he yelled.
It was more like the, oh, yeah, that was the one that always got me most.
Yeah, of course.
For sure.
I think mine, I was about to say when I let a curse out from Charlie Manuel over the air,
but and then this other one came to me.
When I was with Sunday night football, I had to pick up one of the bigwig executives from Philly
airport.
and he was going out of the airport to the departure gates.
And I kept making laps.
And I'm like, dude, I don't see you.
And he was like getting really pissed at me on the phone.
He was calling my direct bosses being like, this kid's an idiot.
And I did like three laps.
And, you know, I'm a young kid just trying to get into the industry.
And I'm like freaking out.
I'm like, this is my airport.
I live here.
I know what I'm talking about.
Turns out he left.
And did, oh, he just left.
No, he left through the.
the departure gate.
Did he apologize?
Not to me,
but he did to my boss,
which I kind of,
and I was like,
I told you guys,
but he was like,
I thought I was fired.
And it turned out I was right,
so it was kind of nice.
Okay, that's good.
How about you,
any?
No,
I don't think I've ever had a...
You never had a traditional boss.
I'm sure he was yelling at you.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I mean,
I usually get into,
when when Jim was here,
if Fletch did some wrong,
I got in trouble for it.
That shit's crazy.
You know, you're fighting at the same name, bro.
Y'all know how Fletch is, man.
You had a mind of his own, bro.
He used to do something wrong back then.
I would say something.
He'd be like, well, your boy,
I'm going on your ass.
And it's like, yo, like, yo, tell him that.
So that was just crazy.
Who was the angriest of your position coaches
in your career?
Definitely him.
Jim.
Definitely, definitely, Jim.
You know, he's just the man of greatness.
So, so.
much. He didn't care how young you were,
where you was drafted, how you was drafted,
how you got here, when you got here,
he didn't care about none of that.
And if you played bad, he'd let you know you play
bad. And he'd be like, I should call your fucking
parents.
You know, but it made you
work that much harder
and make you one run through a wall for.
This is not, this was not my boss
and I think I have told this story before.
But I was
it was either my intern year
or the first year I was full-time,
I had written the game story
about how the Eagles defense gave up
whatever, 27 points or whatever it was.
And I got an email at like three in the morning
from defensive coordinator at the time,
Sean McDermott, who had never emailed me before.
It was like, actually, the defense only gave up 20 points
because the opposing defense had scored a defensive touchdown.
And so he was like very aware of what was being written.
And he then was fired a couple, like a month later.
So he was right to be worried about.
but I was like, oh my God.
Like the defensive coordinator has emailed me like that I have messed up like, oh my God,
I'm so sorry.
I'm so sorry.
I will correct this right now.
So there you go.
That's my Joe Shane moment.
You know, there was a time at where where something happened on a show, Bo was pissed off.
I was like really frustrated.
And Emily says, you know, Bo's not your boss.
And I'm like, well, sometimes it feels that way.
As you sit there in silence while hoping to write a story and we're just talking about.
past work stuff?
No, no, I'm enjoying this.
I'm enjoying this.
This is a good show.
You are the band, man.
What can we look forward to reading on?
So you are the man.
Yeah, so I'm going to, I appreciate that, Vinny.
Thank you.
Thank you.
So, yeah, so there's a few things here.
I'm going to do the style that I've done the past few weeks that you made fun
of me about last week.
I write words and I get to the end.
But no, it's a way of covering.
The story that ties together from start to finish.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So it's going to start with Sacon.
It's going to start with Sakeon.
It's going to get to the defense.
It's going to get to the Georgia guys.
It's going to involve the slow starts on offense.
And it's going to kind of look ahead at kind of where they are at this point in the season.
So I think that's notable.
I also say there were no big injuries of no today.
Mackay Beckton, I'll give you some color here too.
Mackay Beckton, who left the game with a concussion.
he was standing outside the locker room greeting everybody, you know, doing his handshake,
choreographed handshakes and whatnot.
So he was fine.
Now, typically, I've seen injured players do this before, you know, A.J. Brown did that
in the same place a year ago, didn't play the following week.
But with the concussion sometimes, if it's a really bad concussion, like the guy's not around,
Mackay Beckton was there waiting.
So that didn't seem serious.
relatively speaking, I know all head injuries are serious.
Slay went back in the game.
So they seemed fairly healthy, which is a good thing here.
And yeah, I mean, I really do think my big picture takeaway is this is a team that was not surprised at all by the way they played today.
How about you, Zach, big picture, does this performance make you feel differently about the Eagles than you did 24 hours ago?
Good question.
No.
It doesn't, you know, I think within the content, I think had they lost today, it would have definitely made me feel different about the team, right?
Because I think it's important on an NFL schedule, like, you need to beat the teams you're supposed to beat.
And then there's going to be games you, some of those tough games, you know, there's there's road games that a team's hot, there's kind of schedule losses sometimes.
But by and large, you've got to beat the teams that you're supposed to.
beat. I thought going in this game, the Eagles were clearly superior to the Giants personnel-wise.
I understand the Eagles were losing their left tackle. The Giants were missing theirs, too, though.
I thought that injuries almost canceled themselves out. And so it was really a matter of, of, of, like, I thought the Eagles needed to outplay the Giants. Now, I don't want to overstate this.
The Eagles were, what, one of 13 on third down today, or like one of 12 on third down. They still started the game.
way too slow.
The defense played well,
given a lot of credit.
They played well against a bad offense.
You know, an offense that's bottom,
not just bottom third of the league,
like bottom five or eight teams in the league
in DVOA per drive, you know,
you know, so I
don't think that like this is necessarily
who the defense is when they play against
a pro bowl quarterback.
But big picture,
they're four and two right now.
They're four and two,
and they haven't played
their best ball yet, and I think that's a good sign for where this team's going.
And it's also, it's a good sign for Nick.
This was an emotionally charged week.
And the players, by and large, said, like, yeah, we're behind our coach.
We take on the personality of our coach.
And you heard Nick say that too.
All right.
Zach Berman and his full head of hair.
Thank you for joining us from MetLife Stadium.
We look forward to reading everything you've got on all, p.gly.com,
and we'll see you on tomorrow's show at 2 o'clock.
Look forward to it.
Thanks, guys.
See, Zach.
Some extra love for Vinny in the chat, too.
Vinny Curry is such a great person, all that's good stuff.
It's been a good day.
And that'll do it, I think, for this episode of the PHLY Eagles postgame show.
Any final thoughts, anybody?
Is Zach going to get chilly next week?
Does he do that?
Well, no, because next week is going to be a tight one for Zach.
Zach has his brother's wedding in New York, Saturday night.
So he's flying in morning of.
And he's missing his high school reunion, which I think I will be at.
Oh, nice.
Is that next weekend, Julie?
Okay, now we're going to get after.
So, Zach is going to be very frantic.
So no chili for Sunday.
No chili for, unless he does it after the game.
True.
With cookie.
Is it weird?
That's where my head went, Zach and chili after the?
No, I don't think so.
Okay.
I think that's pretty normal.
You a skyline chili guy?
I never had it.
I never made it since he is one of the few stadiums I never got to.
I've only not been to, I think, six stadiums.
And since he was one of them.
So I never got the skyline.
Since he's close to like the West Virginia border.
So like you are you're delved into the skyline.
Yeah.
You like it?
They don't like it.
Okay.
She's just on spaghetti, right?
Yeah, the way they do the chili itself is a little different too.
But yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
I got nothing extra though.
Good stuff.
Yeah, really good.
That's what you know is a good day.
We're talking about chili and pasta.
That's exactly right.
Maybe we'll get some more chili next week.
So the Eagles, 28 to 3, their first big victory of the season,
4 and 2, Seek Juan Barkley.
So far looks, looks to be working.
the big bucks, 176 rushing yards, more rushing yards through six games than any Eagle in history.
So that'll do it for the PHLY Post Game Show presented by Bet365.
We are back all week at 2 o'clock tomorrow.
Myself and Zach Berman will have it.
And then Fran breaking down the tape on Tuesday, Jamie and Rich on Wednesday and on on we go.
We will talk to you then.
Everybody in the chat and everybody listening and watching after the fact, go into the YouTube comments.
your Joe Shane moments of your working careers.
I want to see some of those.
And then we'll talk about them as the week goes on.
So for Julia, behind the scenes and everybody here,
we thank you for watching and listening.
We'll talk to you tomorrow.
And as always, we love you.
