PHLY Philadelphia Eagles Podcast - Scouting report: How will Jalen Carter & the Philadelphia Eagles defense corral Jayden Daniels?
Episode Date: January 22, 2025The NFC Championship will be determined by whether Jalen Carter, Zack Baun, Darius Slay, Nolan Smith, Josh Sweat, C.J. Gardner-Johnson and Milton Williams can slow down Jayden Daniels, Terry McLaurin ...and the Commanders offense. How do those sides of the ball match up and how did things play out in the first two meetings? And what can Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown and Saquon Barkley do to take advantage of a Commanders defense that has been up and down all year long?Join Fran Duffy, Zach Berman and Bo Wulf for their in-depth scouting report, plus another (final?) round of Swooper Soarcasting. This is it.
We've got our big show in the middle of the week this week
as Fran is set to jet off to the Shrine game
and the senior bowl.
So we're going to get into the nitty-gritty of Eagles commanders.
We're going to do some swooper swordcasting.
we might get naked. How's everybody doing?
That's not happening.
Yeah. Won't be doing that.
Yeah.
It is, by the way.
Just to make sure, you know, for, sorry, everybody's okay.
It's the Shrine Bowl, not the Shrine game.
That was an official change.
Sorry.
Just a few years.
You know what?
You're out of the game.
I know.
I lost the episode.
Yeah.
Frisco, Texas.
That's exciting.
Texas.
Yeah.
So heading down to, uh, to the star.
Uh, now the practices are being held at North Texas.
Uh, okay.
Our university, University, University of North Texas.
I think it's UNT, right?
So North Texas.
All right, so now, Zach has won the episode.
You and I have made mistakes this early.
It's now.
The mean green, right?
The mean green, the fighting Joe Greens.
No, it'll be fun trips on there.
Thursday through Sunday or through Monday morning,
leaving Monday to go to Alabama for the Senior Bowl.
That is awesome.

Zach,
we're going to go right to the locker room report
presented by our good friends
at Valley Forge.
The locker room report,
if you're looking for a nice little getaway,
Valley Forge is the place to make it happen.
We heard from Nick Siriani today, Zach,
it's a walk-through practice,
but there is some news about the locker room
on behalf of Nick Siriani.
Yeah, so the Eagles are having the walkthrough at 3-10,
close to reporters.
Nick Siriani would not explain why he wanted to walk through,
but he said it was his decision.
But at that walk-through, J-1-Hertz and Quinn-on-Mitchell will be present.
We don't know.
level of involvement.
The Eagles will put out an injury report estimation after practice, but the way Nick
Siriani described it today, those guys will be out there.
So that's a, look, we're expecting Jailen Hurts to play.
Jail and Harts said as much.
We're presuming Kwinian Mitchell's going to play.
That's kind of what I've been hearing behind the scenes.
The question is going to be how are those guys?
And so I think when that report comes out, the report of what will be is an estimation
of what it would be had it been a full practice.
So is jail unlimited?
Is Quinnia unlimited?
That will be the big question this afternoon,
but they will be out at walkthrough.
And I do wonder, there's, I'm curious what you guys think.
I heard one school of thought, it's really cold outside,
that they're inside for the walkthrough.
Their big practice of the week is on Thursday,
so they'll be across the street on Thursday.
The other report is like, oh, I'm sorry,
the other theory I heard is they're banged up.
up and you want your quarterback participating in the quarterbacking and participate more in a walkthrough than in a full practice.
Well, what do you think?
I would probably, the cold thing doesn't really pass.
I would probably guess the ladder.
I would guess the ladder.
And that's kind of why I asked Nick today.
Yeah.
And Nick wouldn't say it.
You know, I would think if it was like we all we can get more work done inside on a day like this, he would say it.
But the fact that he wouldn't go near that question makes me think you can get more work done with your starting quarterback in a walkthrough when he's,
injured than in a practice.
So obviously, Jalen Hertz's status and how hampered he's going to be physically is a huge
part of this game.
What do you, what do you expect, Zach?
Like, it's hard to say because when I watched it back, that did not look good.
That injury.
No.
Yeah.
I think my leg would have just come clean off.
Yeah.
I was like, ouch, that hurt.
And then he did not look good walking around or like moving around either.
Now there's seven days, right?
But I'm expecting Jalen to be limited out there in practice.
I'm sorry, in the in the game.
I expecting the play, but I don't expect him to run 41-yard touchdowns, that's for sure.
And I don't, I don't know.
Look, there was the period of time when he was dealing with the ankle.
Yep.
In 2021 and he was limited moving.
Last year, he was dealing with a knee, like behind the scenes.
It wasn't really out there, but there were like whispers about it.
and he wasn't moving that well last year he was moving better this this spring oh i'm sorry this
this this summer but yeah if i don't think we'll see the jow and herds moving around the way we
we usually do yeah he was dealing with the knee at the end of 2022 that was when he uh he missed time at
the end of the season when go to the gardener mitchie start uh starts so it's been a few years in
row he's been dealing with something late in the year yeah i think there are two separate
conversations one is that he you know he does tend to get banged up that's a part of his playing
style. But the other is like, I mean, say what you will about we can nitpick all the
Jalen Hertz decisions and he takes too many sacks and the turn downs and all that stuff. I mean,
Jailen Hertz is tough as anything. Like he's a tough S-O-B. And so even if he is hampered in this
game, I think he's going to tell them like you got to call the game plan like we would, like,
like I can run. Like I'm going to be willing to lower my shoulder. And I need to be part of the
running game if we're going to have as successful an offense as we're going to have. And so I'm
kind of expecting like a
not the normal
Jalen Hertz necessarily but I'm expecting him to want them to have
the full playbook I think they're going to be times when he's
like hobbling around but still scrambling for first downs
I think it would behoove them in the opening script to have like
that QB counter read in the first like seven or eight plays
right you know that we're doing it yep or you do the rope adope
you do you do like what what you would be a read
you hand off you make them think that they're crack and then all of a sudden
drive two or three then you pull
I am not left-handed.
I think if you were an OC, you'd be more of a Ropadoop guy
than tease him at the beginning.
Well, I don't get it.
It's not a joke.
I'm saying, because...
You're trying to outthink and...
Yeah, you would be able to...
I'm trying to win the game.
Yeah.
Okay.
I could see that.
I guess.
I mean, the Eagles basically built their entire opening script
about around like not getting...
Not trying to score for most of the season.
Two touchdowns on the Lending drive.
Yeah, right.
Anything else from Siriani,
Zach, that is worth sharing or anything else from the locker room
on behalf of our friends at Valley Forge,
then we should tell the people about
before we get into the nitty-grady of the matchup.
Yeah, Nick's message is regarding seeing Washington for a third time,
they're going to have new wrinkles into.
So there is familiarity between the two teams,
but he kept saying it's not as if you just use the game plan from last time.
It's not as if you just look at those two games.
Washington will continue to evolve.
The Eagles have differences.
He talked about the physicality of the two teams,
which contributed to the chippiness.
And this is actually something when I was thinking about
what I wanted to discuss on the show.
I think the absence of CJ Gardner Johnson
in that second game, rather,
not enough being made about that.
The Eagles didn't have Jayh on Hertz and that affected them,
but I thought the defense really missed CJ in that fourth quarter.
quarter. So he said the Eagles talked about that after the game. We haven't really seen those
egregious or the personal fouls of that variety since then, but that's going to be something to
watch here. These are two teams that don't like each other. It's going to be spicy. I think early on.
Yeah. Yeah. So he said though, because he was he was asked if that's it more focus, he said that was
already addressed, but he thinks the physicality of Washington contributes to that. And it was to the point that
thereafter with Tristan McCollum filling in for C.J. Garnon Johnson, he was no longer the third
safety. Like after that game and that second half, Vic Fangio was like, all right, it's going to be
about thematic says the third safety. It's a good point. Yep. Yeah. And then other than that,
it's just it's more color on this player and that player. But I think that's the big news
from Nick. And then we will hear today during the playoff or I'm sorry, during the championship
week, they have press conferences for players. So,
So you'll see your high profile guys, your Shaquan Barclays, AJ Browns will be at the podium or at the lectern.
Well, we can call it.
They're on the podium.
I assume they'll be sitting up on the podium.
When they had Doug, they used to stand at a lectern.
Right.
But with Nick, they're up on the podium.
So on the podium.
Well, they're not, but they're not sitting on the podium.
Sitting on a chair on the.
Sitting on a chair on the podium.
Well, the chair is not.
It's not on the podium.
that's the stage okay then the chair and then the podium above it and then the
okay so right they'll be at the table it's really just a chair it's a table yeah they'll
they'll be on the stage I mean you you wanted to get into it and that'll do it for the
locker room report I really wanted to get into it on behalf of Valley Forge go to
valley forge make it family time make it Monco I was watching the beginning of the draft
show and you were so like nice and
complimentary to Fran. It was like you were really being a good point guard in that setting.
We got to start that way. I told you last week. I told you there were points. I was like,
you're not going to be happy because I was very well behaved. He even said like Mitchell,
like, normally I would say this. It was like, you don't get credit by saying that you would have
said that. It was really hard. You could probably see me ticking. It was it was Mickey and Ireland.
I mean, how do I not just do a Mickey, an Irish Mickey Mouse there? Let's check out the early
super chats that we have before we get into it.
Tony Grand and Eddie
just shutting it out.
Tony, let us know if you have a question that you were not able to get in there
and we will answer it.
And then our friend David,
don't call me David, says,
do you think they'll actually scheme up the quick game for him this week
without his legs at full strength
feels more important than any other game
to keep them on schedule and not take sacks?
So it's actually my
so on my notes, my preview of the game,
for Eagles commanders over on all p hilly.com right now to die hard yep I've got my three keys to
the game every single week and on my third key for the offense one of the things I have for
for the offense going up against this Washington defense must have answers to get them out
uploading the box Washington's going to sell out to stop Sequan Barclay is it going to be
the quarterback run element is it RPO's is it empty you need quick hitting answers
to try and get the ball out fast and make them pay I think that that's one thing Washington
they've had a lot of success namely against Seqwan but over the course of the year they've
done a nice job of loading the box, even though it's with light bodies, they play more nickel
than anybody with 5 dBs on the field. They load the box and they've had it up, they've done a
better job at stopping the run that way by saying, all right, if you've got six blockers, we're
going to have seven defenders and we're going to try and win that way. Eagles have to find ways
to negate that. And so whether that means Jalen's getting the ball out fast, if it's not that,
and it's the quarterback run element that we referenced earlier and Jalen using his legs,
they have to have some kind of an answer to take that away. Because I think
When you look at, look, Sequin had huge numbers in that first game, right?
When you look at it in totality, you know, he finished two long runs.
But it was two long runs.
First eight drives, Sequin was 22 for 78, three and a half yards per carry.
Final two drives, he went five for 73, 14.6 yards per carry and two touchdown.
So it was obviously largely carried by those two long plays at the very end of the game.
They did a nice job through three quarters and change.
Then you go to the second game.
He starts seven for 109 and two touchdown.
and then, as we talked about after that game, 22 for 41 in the final three quarters and change.
So I think when you look at Washington, they're going to come in saying, hey, you know what,
six out of eight quarters, we have shut Sequin Barkley down.
And you can play this game.
Obviously, it's in terms of, oh, if you take this run away, you take this run away.
But I do think the fact that they did a really good job for the majority of the tape going up against Seekwan.
That's going to give them some confidence coming into this game.
The Eagles have to try and take that confidence away.
Go ahead.
I have a question about something else.
Well, I was going to say they were, before he got concussed in that commander's game,
Jailen Hertz was getting the ball out quickly in that game.
And the quarterback run was big too.
Obviously, he got hurt on a design QB run.
It was a QB draw if memory serves.
But I think when you look at just him getting the ball out fast,
I mean, even last week, we said that on the post game show.
That was his fastest average time to throw on the game this year.
But I just go back to like that Pittsburgh game,
which was the one where Jalen came to the stage after, you know,
came to the podium to the lectern after.
I like him now.
Yeah, is that what you guys wanted to see?
Getting, digging into that, if Jalen's not feeling, you know, if that needs not 100%,
finding ways to get the ball out fast, I think would help him in a big way.
So on a different topic, I just want the official Bo Wolf reaction to this news or to this
press release.
Did you read it or no?
Okay.
So good.
Because I want this reaction to be raw.
I want to know.
Oh, baby, I like it.
And friends, free to wait away.
too but I think you would have more important things to me show me on okay the
Philadelphia Eagles just announced that they are selling snow from the Lincoln
Financial Field playing service that was collected by the grounds crew and
certified by the realist authentic authentication partner truest so what's your
reaction to the eagle selling snow to to the fans I'm looking at the email right now
that is that for what
okay
you can buy now
you can buy now
for $50
what
it's in yes
it's in like
water ice
it looks like
yeah
yeah
yeah
you buy for $50
you can get
the snow
is Jeffrey Larry
that poor
I mean
like
you know
he's selling
off parts of the team
he canceled the Christmas party this year
he did I didn't know that
so what's going on here
he needs to he needs to hit up the season
ticket holders for 50 bucks a pop
for water
well so also
but actually I thought you would find this interesting
because they do have this website
where they've been selling stuff this this year
including like grass from from games
but they even sell the press box game notes
okay and the press box game notes
from the Carolina game is
sold out someone purchased it for 2499 i just don't know how the snow will be shipped using dry
ice to maintain its natural state during transit how do you know that this is the right snow
like this is it's been authenticated by who by their partners you know what this is from the 48
yard line i remember this specifically yes this is the snow that sayquan ran over on you guess what this is
this is also snow this is i'm going to drink some snow
this is going to be $50 snow this was from the 33 yard line oh man what the hell don't let it ever be
said that that you were not the one getting us off football topic girl well I saw the email
to me I was like I need both reaction to the snow like if they've done this before and I haven't
brought it up like with different things but I thought the snow was something that raised to the
level where I needed your reaction that is so craving I just I just I
I mean, come on.
Like, that means that
as the Eagles are celebrating that amazing win
that they almost lost,
someone's calling down to the grounds crew,
like, hey, before it melts, get that snow
so we can pile it up and sell it to these suckers.
You know what?
I bet it's going to be sold out.
I bet it's going to be sold out.
And that speaks to you with the passion
of the fans who watch the show as well,
who contribute to the people.
No, no, no.
They're not that dumb unless they're doing it as a joke.
Okay.
You can go to our swag at Ophol.com, a better use of $50.
There you go.
Stop supporting the billionaire cash grabs.
No more Sixers tickets.
We'll get to that too.
Super chat from Musa, who says was Hertz badly concussed during the first Washington team game?
Weeks 1 through 10 Hertz below 200 yards three times after that first Washington game.
Only one above 200.
So I will chime in here because I vividly remember saying after the second Washington game,
but I actually thought he looked worse the first Washington game than the second one in terms of when he got up.
And if you remember, he went through the concussion testing, he said he passed protocol.
That was also when he made the joke when he was asked about what happened.
He says, I don't remember.
It's probably not a good thing for me to say right now.
but look
the
the league
there's a lot of things
we can be skeptical
about the league on
they they do try
to in theory
at least be pretty buttoned up
with concussions
like you can't
have a concussion
it's out of their hands
yeah it is a third party
exactly so he passed
he passed a test in that Washington game
did you finish the
did you actually read the press release by the way
oh no no I was on the I saw
the headline of the press release by two they throw in a tub of air is that right from the game
i'm just saying if if there was the air was it like from the locker room yeah yeah if there's
different price points for the air i'll tell you're bg's locker yeah you don't want that i'll tell you
what if if if they win the super bowl even if they win the championship game yeah fans are going to have
to uh give up their rent this month or take out a second
and mortgage for the confetti that they'll sell because that will be if the if the if the
if the snow is 30 dollars the confetti is going to be yeah a hundred a piece i mean little you
i mean you could have uh scooped up some snow on your way out of the stadium no my integrity
i couldn't do that but i could sell parking lots no yes this is gross this gross stuff
it's a weird one i i didn't mean to get us off track i thought that would bring up a good laugh i
I didn't think it would throw you off your mojo.
It's really dark stuff.
What's like me to pick up here, or should we do,
should we hear from our advertisers?
I don't know.
I did not see going this.
I think we have another super chat that we're supposed to get to.
Rohee says,
rather have Pickett McKee overhirts with no legs,
given how bad passing game has been.
I'm curious you guys thoughts on this.
I asked Nick Siriani on Monday about why they are going with Kenny Pickett.
He said McKee played really well.
They thought Pickett played really well.
They've gone with Pickett all year.
His indication was there was nothing that happened in the game from Pickett that would make them change it.
Now, he did suggest that like McKee made them think.
He said it's a hard decision with how good McKee played.
My question was this.
Paris Campbell did not get in this past game.
Okay, he was a DNP.
Bryce Huff was too, but Paris Campbell was a DNP.
Do you think the Eagles would dress three quarterbacks?
Like you have three quarterbacks active.
So you have the option of going to McKee if something were to happen to jailing.
And it's not just an emergency situation, but you have that at your disposal.
I've been thinking about this.
I don't really see the reason to do that.
Okay.
Because the rules are, right, if you go to the third quarterback, the emergency third quarterback,
that the two can't go back in, but the one could in theory, right?
Right.
So the situation is so specific where like Jalen would have to be out
Pickett is bad enough in like two drives right that you're like okay we got to yank him and bring in McKee
in which case I mean Kenny Pickett's been dealing with rib injuries like you could just say that he's hurt like and then he can't go back in the game if McKee gets hurt yeah so I don't I don't think that there's reason to mess with the game day roster for it
however I hated that answer from Siriani because he's not saying like we think that
pickets the better quarterback yeah he's saying well he's been the number two this is what we've done
yep and I like I hope it doesn't happen this way but I really think that there is a chance that
I believe that this is the wrong decision and if it comes into play I think they're going to be
regretting it all off season long I think it's one of those things where and I'm not saying that
this is definitely it, right?
But like, if you have the idea that you're going to trade one of the two in the spring,
in the spring, you're going to try and trade.
Totally.
You would try and trade.
Can you pick it as your three.
You can't put out that signal.
That tank's his trade value.
I totally agree.
But you can't.
I know.
I mean, you're from the Super Bowl.
You can't.
You can't put that ahead of the now.
I know.
I know.
Right.
You see, now my one question, because we did talk about this the other day with, with McKee,
is, is you said you can kind of fudge the injury.
I'm curious the mechanics of that because the way the role is is that one
that Dom's there he takes a skill chair he wax him over the head it's
once picket is deemed able to return to play he has to go back in
you can't like you you can't if McKee goes in leads a good drive
you can't keep pick it out based on performance reasons
are you sure once he goes in I think it's just that he can't go back
no it's that the emergency is that that the court I believe the the the
Backup quarterback.
I believe once he's deemed able to return to the game, he has to return to the game.
Yes, I believe that's the rule.
But that's like they don't have independent doctors for non-concussion things.
So you can just declare a guy out.
True.
Right.
So this is from the NFL release back in 2023 when they put the rule in.
Question.
After an emergency third quarterback enters a game, are QB1 or QB2 permitted to return to that game?
Yes.
If either QB1 or QB2 are elevated or evaluated for injury and clear to return,
Either may reenter the game.
Oh, so it's May.
Before the game are, yeah, May.
Can the emergency third quarterback enter a game after coaches remove QB1 or QB2 for poor play?
A parenthetical coach's decision says, no, the emergency third quarterback cannot enter the game due to club benching QB1 or QB2.
Yeah, there's a bunch of there's a whole bunch of stuff.
I just think that I would rather have the third quarterback dressed than the fifth wide receiver, active.
than the fifth wide receiver.
What if the long game is,
you mentioned like Dom's got, you know,
right,
just take out of your back pocket.
You've got a little,
a little container full of snow.
Put that in front of picket.
He slips.
Yeah.
Now Tanner McKee's able to come in.
Yeah.
That's not bad.
I,
best $30.
I mean,
I think it is,
$50.
I think it is,
I think it's risk a version.
It's like,
you know,
it's,
it's,
this guy has played in games
before you
if he has to get thrown in
in the middle of a game
he's run the operations
and stuff before
but
I think they're making the wrong
evaluation but you know
certainly they know more
and have thought about it more than I have.
I'm curious to see
yeah
I mean I hope for Eagles fans' sake
that it doesn't come to that
all right
quick break and then
I mean I hope we're going to talk football
but Zach's going to keep trying to get us off
I will not try to go us off track
I promise you.

Yeah, I already did it.
I was waiting.
This is the thing we've talked about
where there's the...
Yeah, yeah.
So it's really cold outside.
We know that.
And I haven't been wearing my snow hat or my winter hat.
And I was having a conversation with a few people today who were bald or balding.
And they were like, no winter hat.
And I was like, well, the thing is, once you commit to the winter hat, you have to keep it going.
And they're like, yeah, because then you have the hat hair.
And they're like, well, that's so vain.
And I'm like, well, I have a show coming up.
You know, I can't have a hat, I have hair for the show.
Anyways, this is the conference.
This is the kind of thing you can think about.

Good comment from Idiot Sandwich, who says,
imagine you were one of the people talking to Zach this morning
and you have a receding hairline
and all of a sudden you hear him putting you on blast on the show.
I'm sorry, but you know what?
I was seeing what I met with the guy this morning who's going bald.
All right.
I'm sorry.
I was trying.
I was trying to think of like, I didn't mean to use that read as a way to like talk about my hair.
As I was saying it, I was like this.
And then you framed it as well, I have to think about my hair.
And if you want to be able to have these really interesting thoughts.
I was just trying to have a creative.
If you want to have a big old brain like hair man me.
I was trying to make it an organic read.
Okay.
I could have gone with there was, look, I was also thinking of going with the fact that they tagged us on Instagram with all our ad reads.
I should have been, I could have gone that.
I thought it was like an organic thing to bring up, but I'm sorry.
I wasn't trying.
This was not like talking about myself type thing.
I'm sorry.
We have some Eagles roster news.
Oh, gosh, what is it?
The Eagles have released.
No.
K.J. Henry from the practice squad.
They have signed tight end Nick Mews and offensive lineman Cameron Irving to the practice squad
and opened the practice window for Britain Covey.
So Britain Covey pay attention to that.
Quick thing, and I'll defer to Fran here,
but the Cameron Irving thing I find interesting
because he's 32 years old, right?
Former first round pick, of course.
Plays every position on the offensive line.
I wonder if maybe they prefer him as a backup center
than Brett Tooth, if that's kind of the reason behind us.
Jeff Stalin does anything to say about it?
No, but I'm saying you wouldn't bring a 32-year-old to your practice squad
unless like you had plans of having.
him potentially active.
I think it's, I think you would.
I think it's, it's, if Brett Tooth gets injured.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
It's like you had Jack Triscoe go down.
Sure.
It was your game day can play all five positions if necessary.
Now you have Brett Toe that can do that.
And like they want to make sure that they have a backup for every single spot on the roster
heading into the Super Bowl.
And if Brett Toh hurts himself this week, then you have a guy in the building who could be
the backup to the backup on game day.
That's my only.
makes me read on it yeah um and then nick muses was a 2022 seventh round pick uh out of south
carolina we'll even marry before that i feel like he was like 26 uh when he got drafted he was he was he
was as beau like to say an old um as zach like to say the hairline may have been receiving
at that i'm never going to live out at every town but yeah kind of a do everything tight end more blocker
than receiver uh you said 2023 20 22 and zach you you uh intimated a couple weeks ago
that the eagles might have their eye on a brandon graham return with the nick syriac
say about that today he was not going anywhere near your question good question by you he wasn't
going anywhere near it um i would pay attention to this if the eagles win the super bowl that i'm sorry
if the eagles make the super bowl if they win this this weekend i would pay close attention to uh brandy
graham practice a window opening up next week what a story man yeah that'd be awesome yeah seriously
maybe that was the move uh brice huff move but there you go all right super chance aside
Let's get into this.
Do you want to start on the Eagles offense or the commander's offense?
Whatever floats your bow.
Let's do commanders offense first because I think that's the juicier thing going on here,
aside from Jalen Hertz's potential injury.
Big Fangio, you know, you've got this matchup between the crusty veteran who's seen it all
and the hot shot rookie.
Yep.
Who might be the best rookie quarterback we've ever seen.
Who do you think playing a third time favors?
Hmm.
Probably the veteran.
I would say probably Vic Fangio.
Okay.
It's a good question, though.
Yeah, I mean, this offense is operating at a really high level right now.
When the Eagles met them in week 16, Daniels had come on.
He was starting to trend back towards playing the way that we...
Right, it was like that little middle between the first meeting and the second meeting
was when he had taken a little bit of a dip.
Yep.
He had that rib injury.
Yeah.
And then so he was still a little shaken up for the Eagles game.
game. There was a little bit of a downward trend for probably two, three weeks there. And then he started to spike back up. And now, I mean, he's been he's been outstanding. He's playing at an extremely high level. We know what he can do from an athleticism standpoint in terms of him as a scrambler, as a designed runner, but can make every throw. He's thrown with touch and with accuracy to all three levels. I mean, all the downfield throws. He's been one of the best quarterbacks in football in terms of attacking downfield. But to me, like, that's one of the things that stands out to me about.
this Washington offense is that there's just a lot that you have to spend extra time to prepare for if you are Vic Fangio if you are this Eagles defense you look at it's a it's a vertical passing game it's a lot of downfield concepts but when you look at like his average depth of target and how often they push the ball down the field it's not as high volume as other offenses but they it feels very vertical and the reason why is that it's a lot of RPO it's a lot of empty it's a lot of screens it's a lot of pony with two running backs on the field and Austin Echler moving around they they're the
number one in the NFL in terms of that and they're very good at it.
You know, Austin Echler had eight catches in that week 11 game against the Eagles.
So they do a lot of different things that you have to prepare for.
It's more condensed sets than what we've seen from a Vic Fangio or from a Cliff Kingsbury
offense in recent years past.
So it's just a lot to prepare.
You have the downhill run game with the backs that has been effective for the majority of this year.
The QB runs with Daniels, him as a scrambler.
There's just a lot of like separate little buckets from coaching points that if you're a
defense, like, all right, cover this, we've got to cover that.
cover that it's not a simple offense to prepare for and so if you're vick this week where does it start
i think you want to make sure look they they blitzed a lot in that game in week 16 you know
contextually for the eagles they was their highest blitz rates of the season uh and was that the
game where he was asked afterwards he said we were we just weren't yeah so i was going to pull that
that quote up because um i i asked vic and he basically said they it wasn't working yeah like with
their four-man rush yeah they've got to be able to find ways to be able to get home
without blitzing. I've got some numbers in that sheet, in the preview sheet,
what Jaden Daniels has done against the blitz, I mean, he carved the lines up against
their blitz package last week. The week before against Tampa Bay, Todd Bowles,
set a bunch of rushers after him, and he carved them up. He's been one of the best against
the blitz all season long. And again, it's not just, oh, yeah, he can get out of Dodge
and make plays. As a thrower, he has been outstanding. And so I think creating pressure on
Jaden Daniels without having the blitz, that will certainly be big. Now, they're without
Sam Cosme. And Cosmy is a lot of them.
has been their best offensive linemen throughout the majority of the season.
He's a guy who's been their starting right guard that honestly, when they left him one-on-one
against Jalen Carter, which they were happy to do on a lot of occasions in those two games,
he did a really good job against Jalen Carter.
I think that's something where, all right, they're going to have to put Trent Scott in.
Trent Scott cannot block Jalen Carter one-on-one.
They are going to have to give him help over and over, like consistently against Carter.
And so now that becomes big for Nolan Smith, for Milton Williams, for Josh Sweat,
for Morrow Ojama for that entire group up front.
Those guys have to win one-on-one because Jalen Carter's going to be getting the center.
I don't want to say every single play, but on most plays,
Jalen Carter is going to be getting extra sets of eyeballs.
So I think at the end of the day, it comes on Milton Williams and the rest of that group.
They have to win one-on-one.
They've got to get home.
You've got to be disciplined with those rushes when you do win, get home.
It's very big from that standpoint that they don't have to blitz,
don't make Fangeo have to send those extra rushers at Jaden Daniels.
Yeah, this is the quote from Christmas Eve.
actually the question was from from Jeff McLean.
It was why did you feel the need to blitz more than you have?
Typically, he said the quarterback was scrambling.
We weren't quite getting the necessary four-man rush pressure that we needed.
So that was why.
There you go.
So the Eagles in that game, just to follow up blitzed about 25% of the time, it was their fourth highest of the season.
And as you said, it got much higher in the second half of that game.
Jaden Daniels this season against the blitz.
Fifth in EPA per dropback, 11th in success rate.
So some boomer busts there.
You compare that to against non-blitzes,
in which case he's 13th in the paper dropback and eighth in success rate.
It leads all rookies not just this year,
but basically since in the next gen era,
since they've been tracking this stuff,
of completions, yards, complete percentage,
pass the rating against the blitz.
He's done an outstanding job when teams have sent extra pressure.
But to that point about missing Cosme,
17.6% pressure rate with Cosme on the field,
and he's played the large majority of the snaps this year.
after he left the game the other night against Detroit,
45% pressure rate.
So a huge, huge jump.
Obviously, that's a small sample size.
The Lions were trying to get after them,
but just gives you an idea of how much they will miss Cosme in this game.
Zach told us about Quinnian Mitchell's status.
We know that that first matchup,
he sort of shut down Terry McLaren,
second matchup, McCoran beat him deep.
How do you expect if Queenioner Mitchell is good to go?
Vic Fangio to approach that.
Yeah, I think that it'll be more of the same.
I don't think that they're going to try and change the coverage menu
too too much. I think that they're going to
go and do what they do. They're going to try and out
execute them that way. Obviously we saw
the Eagles kind of throw that change
up at the Rams with how much man
coverage they played. I don't anticipate
that to be the answer here in this one.
Now, obviously that could change. They could surprise
us in that way, but my guess is
that they're going to go out, they're going to play
too high safety shell to start and they're going to
play their mix of coverages. They're going to play
cover three. They're going to play cover four. They're going to play
cover six and, you know, mix
in some man coverage here and there.
But Terry McLaren has been their most productive receiver.
The guy that you do have to watch out for that has been a little bit of a heater in the playoffs is Diami Brown.
You know, former third round pick out of North Carolina.
He's been kind of a bit player for them over the course of his first couple seasons.
But here in the playoffs, he's been their leading receiver in each of the last two games from a yardage standpoint.
He's had as many deep ball completions in these two games as he had in the entire regular season.
So I think when you're looking at Diami Brown, he is the vertical threat.
And in this vertical offense, they have found ways to unlock him.
and get the most out of them.
What about their rushing attack?
Are you worried about Brian Robinson and Austin Eccler?
Or is this, like if you're an Eagles fan,
anytime they hand the ball off and take it out of Jaden Daniel's hand,
you're probably happy.
It's the same conversation as last week with Kyle Williams
and the last week with Josh Jacobs,
or the week before with Josh Jacobs,
where it is a, it's not an explosive rushing attack with those guys.
You know, last week was the first time any Washington running back
had over 70 yards in like two months or a month and a half.
So it's not an explosive.
rushing attack, but it's a very efficient run rushing attack.
Best success rate.
One of the end, that obviously does take no account Jaden Daniels, but their best success
rate in football.
One of the more efficient run games in all these different splits.
And again, that can all be found in my preview over on all phly.com.
But you do have to worry about the downhill run game.
You want to make sure that you kind of take them out of their comfort zone there.
The Eagles have done a nice job at not preventing a lot of yardage before contact when they've
gone up against this Washington team.
That was something I saw as I was just kind of going through some stats from next
gen and that shows up on the film is that they've done a nice job of limiting
brian robinson for the most part and they'll need to do that again in this game uh jane daniels
led the league this year and scrambles yes guards on scrambles and and uh the efficiency of it
what is the plan there well with one thing i'm berks here instead of nicobee dean and knowing
that he you know that maybe the biggest play of the game when they lost that game was that
that third and fourth or fourth and long scramble yeah you know what you got to play the first play
you got to play the second play how do they approach that it was uh it's funny you know like you're
thinking about these games and like sometimes you're just doing some kind of random task and like something
called pop into your head i was walking the dog this morning it's like you know six 30 this morning
and uh terrible oh man but i'm walking the dog i'm thinking about the matchup nicobie dean had
two really good one-on-one open field tackles against jaden daniels on scrambles early on in both
games back in week 11 he had one there was a big play on third down and in that week 16
game early on. It was like a second or third drive. Jaden Daniels broke and stepped up into the
pocket and Nicopi was able to get him down. Ornberg's got to make those kind of plays. And look,
you're not going to be able to contain him on every single one in terms of, you know, the defensive
line. So if there is some leakage there, if he's able to find an escape path, you need Cooper
Dijian, you need the safeties. If they're going to come up and they're going to play in the
middle of the field, if they're going to, you need those linebackers to make those stops one-on-one.
Obviously, we saw a couple of those plays go the other way late in the game. As you mentioned,
Jaden Daniels had a couple backbreaking plays against this defense.
Zach, what's your understanding of like, I know that we haven't,
you haven't been in the locker room yet this week,
but the way that that defense views Jaden Daniels.
Well, there's considerable respect for him.
Certainly from the coaching staff.
You heard Vic Fangio yesterday, you know, the quote that circulated,
excuse me, he's young on the birth certificate,
but not on film.
And, you know, said he's probably the best rookie quarterback he's seen.
Who was he going to say to that one?
Because he was asked like, is he the best?
He wasn't going to say no.
I didn't give it bulletin for material.
But I think in the locker room, there's, I mean, first off, the Georgia guys saw him when he wasn't quite, Jaden Daniels.
He is now.
There's that clip of Jalen Carter lifting him up off the ground.
That's just similar to what he did against Stafford.
But there are people in that locker room who've played with him, Andre Sam, for instance.
Did you see that one coming?
I guess because you mentioned it the other day.
Okay.
Yeah.
Who,
yeah.
And.
But isn't that the only one?
Who played with him?
No,
Andre Sam transferred from Ellis.
He transferred to LSU.
So he was,
he played with him for one year.
I was talking about,
our conversations was people from New Orleans,
not people who were.
No,
no,
I know,
I know.
But you said,
didn't you just say there are guys in the locker room who played with him.
Well,
Ty Davis Price played with him as well.
Okay.
Yeah.
So that's another one.
Eli Rips.
Did he?
Wasn't
Ty Davis Price in the league before
Daniels got there? Daniels was there two years.
Two years. Last year was Ty Davis Price's rookie year,
right? No, I think they were to whack the third rounder
after one year. Okay.
So Ty Davis Price did not play with him, man.
I said corrected.
Officially, finally, we have all lost the episode.
Julia wins.
Actually, you know who did play with him, I believe?
Johnny Wilson.
Oh, great call. Wow, very good.
Absolutely.
As I'm thinking about it.
Nice.
Great call.
Yeah.
He's back.
So, anyways, there's a lot of respect for Jane Jones.
You heard that after there was first, the second game in particular, like the way he moved around.
That first game, he was coming off injury.
It was a Thursday night.
He didn't really move around the same way.
But that second game, you really heard the respect.
And it's, look, it's hard to watch what he did against Detroit and not come away with a lot of respect.
for Jaden Daniels.
Yeah, I mean.
I'm curious your guys' perspective.
This is something that I've been putting together
some thoughts on the game
that I'll have on all p.hly.com
and the fourth down of this all
is interesting to me.
This factors into Jaden Daniels.
This is part of why they're so effective
on fourth down
is that they have 15 touchdown drives this year
in which they converted a fourth down.
So I think they have
22 fourth down conversions.
15 touchdown drives.
drives they converted a fourth down.
So this is, they're,
they're scoring points from this.
I think they only missed two fourth downs during the regular season.
One of those was the Zach Bonn,
the jail and Carter,
Zach Bonn one.
And by the way, like,
if you look at that score now,
there might be national media who are,
are looking at the two Eagles,
Washington games and are like, oh,
the Eagles blew them out, right?
Well, Washington was down, what, two points?
It was 12 to 10, right?
And they were driving.
Yeah.
And they go for that fourth down there.
It might be a different game.
Yeah, I think that game was closer than the score indicates.
And the second game, the Eagles would have won going away,
if you only hurts it and not going to do.
Exactly.
That's sort of how I feel about it.
Yeah, so fourth down, what is it Jane Daniels's legs that make them so effective?
And I'm curious, your opinion on this too, because I know you really study game management is,
as a defensive coordinator, how do you think it affects your third down calls?
Do you think you're more aggressive?
Because if they get to fourth and two, fourth and short, they're going to go for it?
Well, to your point, the one number I pulled,
they were one of two teams to gain an entire game's worth of win probability added
as a result of going for it on fourth down this year.
Detroit was the other one.
Obviously, we know Dan Campbell, they've been extremely aggressive on fourth down.
But I think when you look at Washington and the big reason why, yeah,
I think Jaden Daniels and that playmaking ability,
it's funny that that stopped that you mentioned there,
that was a, you know, he's under center.
It's going to be play action, rollout,
and he's got the ability to either throw it or run it.
They've run that play on those like money.
down situations third down fourth down i've seen them run it like six or seven times this year they
ran it last week against detroit uh and terrian arnold's the corner on that side and just like completely
sold off against the run it's like man like you've got to be ready for that possibility of him keeping
that ball uh and you know the eagles obviously were ready for it on that play and they will certainly need to be
ready for it uh in this game i think on the on the third fourth down front like if it changes your
your defensive philosophy i don't think it changes it too much because on third and
you're still playing it straight up.
Maybe you pretend that like, you know,
the line to gain is like two yards,
two or three yards shorter than it is.
I think where it would affect me, honestly,
is like third and short,
you don't sell out to stop the run
because you know that they might just go for it and forth on for it anyway.
Like you got to be worried about play action on those plays.
That's really the only thing that I think of.
Yeah, I asked Vic yesterday,
does it.
I should ask why.
And then if it doesn't,
he could have just said it doesn't.
But when I said he's like,
it doesn't,
times I should have asked why does it yeah yeah it's tell you know you don't want to
burn a follow-up but then you know you don't want to get muscled out and then yeah
tough today I was thinking about that on the way home yeah today was tough today was
stuff I I don't love when sorry no no no no no no no everyone's got a job to do
we understand that I love when there's repeats of questions that have all that were
like asked within the past few days yes that's like a pet peeve of mine yes I also
don't I don't like questions that are that are asked just to fill a quote in this story.
Yes, that's it.
You know what I mean?
I think I think it is get the head coach on the record about stuff or try to find out something.
Yeah.
Glean information.
Try to learn.
It's like tell me about how great whoever is.
Yeah.
Like how good is Jaden Daniels?
Like I don't know.
At least frame.
I don't know.
Everyone's got a job to do.
Yeah.
But like.
But look.
Look, all these press conferences and teleconferences, or video conferences, we have the transcripts for all of them.
You can easily look to see if there was a question asked in the past two days, past week, and like we don't need to repeat the same things over and over again.
Like, guess who?
No, I'm not doing that.
Are they balding?
No, I'm not doing this.
Yes.
No, I'm not.
No, no, no, no.
I am not going there.
at all.
All right, quick break, and then we'll flip to the other side of the ball.

I got to say, I did a Washington podcast today,
and I don't want to say I quoted verbatim.
I didn't quote it verbatim, but it's like, you know, the keys to the game.
Jack's keys to the game.
Oh, gosh.
No, I was like, they're like, how do you think the Eagles approach dating down?
I was like, you know what?
They really need to limit explosives.
And then I'm like, and situational football is so important.
third and fourth downs, Washington, you know, now it's stuff that I could have said,
but it got the Fran, the Francille of approval.
Happy I could help.
Absolutely. Thank you.
All right.
We talked about Jalen Hertz's injury, how that might affect things.
I mean, I guess we are beyond asking, are we going to see a different side of this offense?
We know that the way that they want to play, the way that they have to play.
However, like A.J. Brown, who has not done much the last two weeks,
Will there be opportunities against against this defense to get the ball to AJ Brown?
I think so.
I mean, we remember the last time these two teams played,
we saw those three defensive pass interference calls against Monshawn Latimore down the field,
where AJ just outmuscled them and drew those three flags.
You know, I think there will be opportunity there.
Now, Lattimore has played better the last couple of weeks compared to what he was doing in that two-game stretch
because not only did A.J. get him a few times, but the following week against Tampa and Mike Evans,
Mike Evans got after Lattimore a little bit as well.
but I think when you look at this past game, yeah, there's going to be opportunities.
This is a secondary that has given up big plays in the past over the course of this season.
Keep in mind, that was a different version of the secondary, but I do think, again,
that there's going to be opportunity there.
The big thing is, and again, this is a lot of similar profiles with what we're seeing here
so far in the postseason for the Eagles is that this is a defense that has given up plays.
The numbers don't look great from like an EPA and like a success rate standpoint,
a lot of these different splits.
23rd and DVOA, 20th and past DVOA,
26th and run DBOA.
However, they can create chaos
because of their pressure packages
and what they can do on these individual plays.
And honestly, I think that Dan Quinn
is going to look at what the L.A. Rams had success with last week
and say, yeah, we can replicate some of this stuff
where Jalen Hertz got sacked seven times.
All these stunts and twists that gave the Eagles
offensive line issues last week,
we can do that with our linebackers
who have been the two best pass rushing offball
linebackers in terms of productivity this year with incorporating those guys into the pressure package,
but then also looping Dorrance Armstrong, looping our defensive tackles.
Jonathan Allen has not played in the previous two games in week, 11, week 16.
He's back.
He had four pressures last week.
Dorrance Armstrong, he's lining up more inside now in their pressure packages.
He had two sacks lining up on the interior last week.
They love moving him around.
And so this group, I think they're going to try and replicate a lot of those things.
They'll probably do it early just to try and push that button and see how the Eagles respond.
Now, aside from the turnovers last week,
they did get sort of overrun by the lines who have an awesome offense or had an awesome
offense but you think that down to down that this defense is better than the number suggests
especially with Jonathan Allen back yeah yeah I think that here's the big thing is that
remember that game against Washington in week 16 was that obviously was that we talked about
it was the game that Jalen heard got injured so he leaves with a concussion and the
the after the run game it was the following drive when Seekwon had the long touchdown
and then after that's that doing right right right right so
So our hypothesis coming out of that, a lot of it was, oh, like, Jalen Hertz left,
the threat of the QB run and the RPO, that was gone.
They loaded the box.
They didn't respect the pass.
Well, going back and watching, that was not how I thought watching it.
That was the C.J. Uzama game.
That was the C.J. Usama, like, I've got another clip to show.
Here's another screen grab.
I don't know what he's doing here, right?
That was that game.
But also the offensive line did not perform admirably well either.
They didn't shower themselves in glory in that loss.
And so Mackay Beckton has got to play better in this game.
I think when you look across the board, the offensive line all kind of shared some
blame with that loss going up against Washington.
And it wasn't necessarily as much.
They tried doing the RPO's with Kenny Pickett.
And they didn't respect the QB run element.
Now, if Jalen Hertz is in there and has the ability to run the ball, that certainly adds a layer.
But we hit on that earlier, they have to have something to take away Washington's ability
to load the box and that just be their only solution to stopping this run game.
I have wild NFL news for you.
Brian Schottenheimer
No
Jason Witten
No
What
The Jags have just decided
To fire Trent Belke
I mean
I get it
A dual parting of the way
Is
Shad Khan has the
utmost respect
for everything that he's done
For the organization
But they've decided
It's time to part
Well look they weren't
They weren't getting head coaches
Because of him
Right
So Shod Khan could
Want him as the GM
But it's seriously
It was hindering their ability
To attract head coaches
coaching talent. So I think that job just became considerably more attractive.
I mean, what a funny thing to say, but it's true. I watched the press conference like
afterward with shot Khan and with Trent Ball. Very awkward and but like the reporters like, you
know, I remember like John Shipley like asked multiple times in that in that press conference like
did you give thought to like cleaning house and shot con took it as like, look, we can't
fire all 70 people. It was like yeah, no, we're talking about the other guy that's on this press
conference. So like we're talking about you clean thing about firing both.
guys. Well, to be fair, to be fair, when Doug Peterson was fired, that was the first question
Jeffrey Lerick got was, was, why was Jeffrey, why was Doug Peterson fired by Howard Rosman retained?
I would say that Howie Roseman's resume and Tread Bobbby.
I agree. I agree. I were just saying, yeah.
Thank you for watching on Fast. We got a lot more to come on this episode. Check it out on all
p.hly.l.com, the P.LY equals podcast. I mean, that's very funny. And it's also like they've
wait they now wasted the first cycle of the search.
Liam Cohen pulls out this thing.
But look, if you're on Al Calibaldi watch, that's the GM job that's now opening
because it sounds like the Raiders are going to hire John Spitech from, from Tampa.
It looks like the jets are closing in on Newmark from Washington via Detroit.
So that's the last one.
That's the other thing too is that now they've picked, now that they've made this move,
they've missed out in the top four.
Quote, quote, quote, top three,
the first three GM candidates off the board.
Wow.
Very funny.
Okay.
Back to this matchup.
Yeah.
It's funny that Schottano,
because Schott and I'm right at this point,
it wouldn't even be that surprising.
It's just kind of,
it's expected.
By the way,
credit the Joseph Hoy from DOLS.
He's been all over that.
It's awesome to see.
Yeah.
Good work.
Love it.
And you, good for you.
You nailed DLS just now.
I know.
I've been working at it.
No working at it.
Yeah.
Thanks, work.
We're all going to launch it.
This is nice.
You see what a little snow sale can do for everybody?
This roster, by the just littered with Eagles.
Like funny little Eagles connections.
Yeah, that's true.
You're the coaching staff.
The coaching staff.
Kavana Seymour.
If for some reason, the Eagles don't win.
By the way, yeah.
If for some reason the Eagles don't win this game, okay,
we are down at Super Bowl anyways
and like Super Bowl Media Night with Washington
there will be some fun
Wolfstand candidates here
so or some fun
I just want to recreate the Zacherts
if the Eagles go
if the Eagles lose this game
and the commanders go to the Super Bowl
at Media Night
I will ask Zachertz how does it feel
to be at the Super Bowl
even though you didn't do anything to contribute
but you know what Zach knows you
so I think he'll play along with it
like Zach Ertz like you can
approach him about the pink sitting down,
pink standing up, and he'll play ball
because he knows you. I'm not going to repeat
the bit. Okay, sorry.
My favorite thing you did was it was
before I, well, no, it's actually while we
it was while we worked together. It was
when you did the ads for
Zackertz, the Hertz ads for Zackerts.
The UPS, which got back to him. He enjoyed
Yeah, exactly. I'm saying. He appreciates your
honestly, that was a good ad.
They should have made it.
Okay.
We talked a lot
about the little things that they were able to do up front
to stifle the running game when they were able to do it.
Yep.
How would Jeff Statlin go about combating that stuff this time around?
You know, I think that in the first matchup,
the thing that gave them most of the problems
was the, like, the D-line slants.
And I feel like they addressed that in the second matchup.
I think they did a better job of handling that
and going back and re-watching it today
and just going back through my notes,
re-listening to some of the stuff we talked about afterwards.
It was more just guys losing at the point of attack.
Like guys just not doing a good job, you know, winning their one-on-ones,
tight ends.
We talked about like, you know, that was more like assignment.
Like you have to get the backside linebacker.
Go block that guy and not walk up three steps and then decide do you want to go block somebody else.
Like, you know, Dallas Goddard should be able to do that at a higher rate than what C.J.
Uzama and Calcutera did in that matchup.
And Calcutera is better blocker than what he showed in that one as well.
So if, let's say, Jane Daniels is just on a heater.
and whatever Vic Vanjo does,
they're not really able to stop this,
this Washington offense.
Can the Eagles offense keep pace?
They should be able to, yeah.
I mean, look, they should be able to run all over that defense.
They should be able to create explosives.
They should be able to be able to move the ball consistently on the ground.
I am still a little concerned.
We've talked about this the last few weeks.
When you look at like the run game success rate,
all of the worst games have been since like week, you know,
13, 14. It's all the back half of the season.
I know Dana is just talked about that.
Like as they've leaned more into being a run heavy team,
like teams are taking, you know,
leaning more into taking it away and the success rate has dropped.
And so now you really need the past game to pick up the slack
when the run game's not there.
That's what it's,
it's going to come down to that.
It's going to be,
if the Eagles run,
if commanders find ways to be able to stop the run,
what are the Eagles answers from a past game standpoint
or from Jalen Hertz's leg standpoint to combat that?
And if they can combat that,
then that will keep the minute.
And if they can't, then they won't.
And aside from Jailen Hurts' legs,
what would be their answers in the passing game?
I think when you look at being able to go empty
and get the ball out fast,
especially if Jalen's hampered by this knee, right?
And he's not going to be in like create mode
and being able to do all those plays outside of structure,
which he has not done at a high level this year
for the most part anyway.
We've talked about how the longer he holds onto the ball,
the worst things have been this year.
So to me, like you want to be able to dial up different
ways to get the ball out of his hands fast.
If they can do that, then I think that that would
paint a nicer picture of how they were able to
consistently move the ball against this day. By the way,
since AJ Brown's been in Philly
against Washington, so year one,
five catches, 85 yards, and a touchdown
in the first game, the second game when
the Eagles lost, he had one catch seven yards,
only four targets.
Last year, nine catches,
175, two touchdowns. That was
the Emanuel four of his game. Eight catches
132 touchdowns. That was the next
time you played. Then
then this year against Washington
5 for 65 and then 8 for 97
and a touchdown. So he has
this is a team that he has feasted on
since he's been to Philly
since he's he's been with Eagles.
Yeah and you just know that
after two straight games of not being involved
I mean unless he is just
he's really hurt really really hurt
he wants to have a big one
and the weather's going to be better.
Yeah I mean he's arguably
the best player on the team. He doesn't want
them to go to the Super Bowl without him, you know, having an impact.
The, uh, the interesting part of us, too, is that I would say, like, if you're,
what is the identity of this Washington defense?
Okay, they're going to, it's a lot of nickel.
They're, it's light bodies.
They're going to pressure those linebackers, a lot of different, like, unique pressure
looks and things like that.
And it's heavy man-to-man coverage on the back end.
That is what they typically do against the Eagles.
They've played a little bit more zone.
I think Dan Quinn has, he's gone up against Shailen Hertz a number of times his career,
obviously twice a year when he was with Dallas.
Uh, I think that he knows, like, yeah,
We want to play a little bit more Zol.
We're going to spin into different coverages.
Jalen has had some success when he was in Dallas finding ways to have those answers.
I think that's something that they will try and do in this game.
So Jalen has to be ready.
Like, all right, if it looks like it's going to be man and they spin out to cover two,
what does that what does that look like?
Where are my answers at?
Those are the things that Jailen is going to have to work through on a processing
standpoint early on in this game.
How about the commanders against tight ends?
When they've played man-to-man, Jeremy Chin and Percy Butler have kind of
kind of switched off in terms of being that guy.
Dallas has been awesome at defeating man-to-man coverage.
He's been one of Jaylen's go-to-targets when they faced man.
So that would be certainly a match-up to watch.
I know, obviously, he had a big day last week,
had a couple big catches for them.
And, you know, he had a bigger catch the week before against Greenback.
It looks like you wanted to add something.
Oh, when you said Jeremy Chin, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I heard yesterday you wanted to,
you really wanted to throw yourself a parade over the commander's coaching ranking.
I appreciate listening to the show.
did not want to throw a parade, but
You were getting ready to sell that confetti, baby.
Look, every, every opinion that I have on a player
that does not come to fruition, like Emmanuel Forbes,
we do like a special episode commemorating it.
So, I honestly, honestly, now, I do agree with the point
that that Kapati guy was making that, like,
the force of Jane Daniels is giving some people more credit
than they deserve.
but I think we were probably unfair
or I was unfair to you about where you had
the commander's coaching staff ranked
that's big of you to say thank you
and then bottom half of the thing
like ninth or 10th would have been fine and then in the
my guy's segment um
yeah we can watch that I was not as blown away as you were
you had Santer still I had Santer still I brought
Braylon Allen who was
Raylan Allen was real productive as a fifth round pick
okay this year sure uh Keelan Bullock
yeah Kellen Bullock was a good basically good one because I was
I was not in it on Kaelin Bullock.
He's very much outperformer, I thought.
Yeah.
Rum was that yours was made as a separate Vod, and I couldn't find mine, so I still don't know
who my guys were.
Don't you have it in your notes?
Maybe somewhere.
Just go to like the PFWA all-Rookie team and be like, these are my guys.
Yeah, those are my guys?
Yeah, exactly.
So I had Jeremiah Trotter Jr. as my linebacker.
We haven't really gotten to see that come to fruition yet.
Julia, do you have those graphics saved anywhere?
Don't.
That's an unfair thing to ask.
Am I, so I was actually thinking about this because look, we're at 308 here.
We don't need to do like, we litigate victory laps.
But do I get a victory lap for Brock Bowers or the fact that he was so good on a bad team?
Is that not, does that support your point of like not drafting a tight end?
Although your point was that first round tight ends aren't productive.
Is that what it's been?
Well, I think there were a few layers to it, but I think it's hard for me to tell you that
Brock Bowers was a bad pick at that point given I predict.
He didn't change.
He wasn't a franchise.
Yeah.
Is that like taking a running back in the first round, you know, where he's good,
but it doesn't change the complexion of.
I don't know.
I haven't spent all night thinking about how much credit you should do for Brock Bowers yet, unfortunately.
Oh, we can do it around draft season.
We'll really get that.
Yeah, we have a lot of episodes.
All right.
Any, do you have any other questions about this matchup, Zach, before we get to Swopper?
Fourth down was my big question.
But then my other thing, too, is Trent Scott.
We're assuming he's going to be the guard here.
Yep.
There's the thought that they could also slide Wiley from right tackle to right guard and then bring in, I forget the name of the backup tackle.
Cornelius Lucas, is that right?
Yeah, potentially.
Starting experience.
I will say, I watched every snap of Scott and he will be up for everything he could handle if he's the right guard.
I just look at like, and I look at this Washington team and maybe I'm just biased for thinking this way from covering the Eagles for 13 years.
But I always look at the lines of scrimmage first.
and they're not good on either line of scrimmage.
Now their defensive tackles are really good,
two blue-chip-d-tackles,
but they don't have edge rushers,
they don't really have an offensive tackle.
I'm sorry,
they don't have an offensive line.
So I think the Eagles had the advantage
on both lines of scrimmage.
I've looked at like,
every week I'll look through a lot of different
stat packs and stuff
from the different networks
and, you know,
just kind of combed through numbers
and, you know,
they're all the different trends.
Every trend is pointing towards the Eagles
coming away with this win.
Like, it's like, oh, like,
our rookie quarterback has never advanced
the Super Bowl.
A team has never,
Anytime the team has had the number one defense hosting a conference title game, they've never lost.
Like it's like all of these kind of things.
I just think the Eagles are just more talented.
I think it's at the end of the day that this should be a win.
They should be going to Super Bowl.
It's just it's like facing who was it?
Was it Chris Carpenter?
In that game five, Phillies Cardinals 2011.
Sometimes there's a game seven against a hot goalie, right?
You know, when there's one game, a great quarterback is.
like a great starting pitcher or a great goalie where he can neutralize things in that if jaden
daniels has a big game you know i've i've used this line if the lions and the commanders play a
seven game series i think the lions went four to one but that one day jaden daniels was awesome and
the lions were turning the ball over and that can happen sunday yeah i found our guys okay oh
jeez i'll give him i'll give him i'll run them down quickly okay okay zacks there was one guy for each
position.
Outside of like the like, well, it wasn't, it didn't have to be.
It was just like relative to consent.
Rock power.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It was relative to consensus.
Uh, Michael Pettix.
Okay.
For Elyn Allen.
Okay.
Troy Franklin.
Jared Wiley.
Okay.
Blake Fisher.
Did Blake, what did Blake Fisher?
He went to Houston.
Houston and started.
Yeah.
I'll think it went well.
Okay.
I'll go back and look at that.
Tanner Bordalini.
Oh, he took it from you.
Mohamed Kamara.
He's an old.
yeah he was an old
Miami I think
Mason Smith
right
he went higher than I expected
Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
Right
and then Mike Santer still
and Kalen Bullock
definitely the two
those were those were two good hits
this is a weird one
a quarterback for me
Caleb Williams
great
No one big
you put yourself out there
Audrick Estimate
who disappointed
I mean he was given some time
disappointed
This one this one early on
did not turn out well
My wide receiver was Jalen Polo
I liked Jalen Polk and that Patriots.
Not looking great.
Offense did not look good.
Ben Sinit, we got the commanders.
One where I did not think he was going to go in the second round.
Right.
Kingsley Suamataia.
Yeah, hasn't been pretty.
Nope.
You know, the interior offensive lineman was.
Not Tanner Bordellini.
No, Dylan McMahon.
Dylan McMahon.
This gets better.
Jonah Ellis had a good season.
Yeah, until he got hurt.
Yep.
Michael Jr.
Yeah.
Cedric Gray.
Michael Jr.
did not pay no one at all.
Tarant,
Arnold's did not pan out as well, but my safety was Evan Williams, which turned out.
That was a good one.
So I think we both had two good hits and, I don't know.
All right.
Enough, enough naval gazing.
Let's get into what really matters, the important stuff of the weekend.
And that, of course, is super sorecasting.
How did it go last week?
Heading into last week, I was up 7.83 to Franz 5.33 and Zach's 4.83.
and this one was worth three points.
Zach had Reed Blankenship and or Cooper DeGine
is involved in a turnover,
makes a solo tackle on a fourth downstop
or commits an unnecessary roughness penalty.
The white smoke tease did not happen, unfortunately.
Given the turnovers, I thought it might, but it did not.
Jalen Hertz finishes with a passer rating of at least 100.
Did not happen just underneath.
Jalen Hertz has more pass attempts than Eagles points.
I think did or did not happen.
He had 20.
He was 15 for 20.
Okay.
The Eagles hold the Rams to 22 points or fewer.
You got that one.
Oh, yeah.
Right on it.
Thanks to equal to.
Yes.
Very nice.
And Sequin Barclay averages more yards per carry than Rams,
touchdowns, and field goals made.
You did not get that?
I believe I did, didn't that?
You did?
Okay.
We got two.
It's not going to matter.
They got, they had one, two, three.
four, five.
He averaged 7.9 yards per carry.
All right.
Good work by you.
I had X and Y will combine for at least 120 receiving yards.
Cooper Cup and A.J. Brown didn't happen.
A.J. Brown sets his Eagles postseason high in receiving yards.
Did not happen.
Jalen Hertz throws for fewer yards than the comments on this video as of the kickoff
or more thumbs or more yards than thumbs up on the video.
If only I had said net passing yards, it would have been 65 to 66 and I would have got
it. Unfortunately, I did not, did not happen.
The Eagles win, that happened, and the Eagles win by eight points or fewer. That did happen.
So, Zach and I were tied at two.
Fran only had three items, but he went three for three.
At least two players in this game have a reception of exactly five yards.
Bang. All Rams receivers, other than Pooka and Akua,
combined for at least 100 receiving yards.
The penny auction, bang.
And Saquan Barkley has at least 100 rushing yards.
Bang, bang, bang.
jumps into the lead.
He's a half point ahead of me.
He's at 8.33.
I'm at 7.83,
and Zach is three and a half points behind
at 4.83.
But Zach, it's worth four points this week.
If you win,
you'll jump into the lead.
And if the Eagles go to the Super Bowl,
then the Super Bowl will be worth five points.
And so everybody's doing the mental math.
This could be the end,
or it could be setting up for the Super Bowl.
I thought we did Super Bowl regardless.
or I think we only did this one year when the Eagles weren't in it,
2020.
I think that was a tie back.
2022, they were still,
they played in the Super Bowl,
so we did it.
Okay.
So we're not doing,
so we're not doing Super Bowl regardless.
No,
unless it's a tie.
Unless it's a tie.
Okay.
Which I,
at this point,
I don't think that it could be a tie.
Right.
Yeah.
Turkeys.
Tarkeys.
You both have exactly 24 turkeys.
None to carry over.
I cost myself five.
And so I only have 19.
turkeys the order this week back to the beginning fran then zach then bow then the day niz
submissions and away we go way we go uh let's go my first one eagles defense we're going to start
taking a look at zach bond he is involved in a turnover force fumble fumble recovery or
interception that's it we're not talking turnover rundowns we're not talking about a pb u that leads to an
Interception safety.
Safety.
If he tips it and it's a pick,
he doesn't get it.
Not counting it.
I was just wondering.
We're taking all the ambiguity out.
In the box score.
Is it a forced fumble,
fumble recovery, or interception?
We'll start the bidding at two.
Three.
Three is Zach?
Three is that going once?
Three is that going twice?
It's pretty good bye, Zach.
ZB on ZB.
All over the ZB.
All right.
Over to you, Zach.
Okay, here we go.
My first one here is the Eagles convert more fourth downs than the commanders.
So not go for more, to convert more.
I didn't think about equal to or should we have it as more.
Should we keep it as more?
It's up to you.
It's your item.
Yeah, let's have it as more.
Eagles convert more third downs.
The Eagles convert more fourth downs than the commanders.
Not a higher percentage, but raw conversions.
Raw conversions.
I'll start at one.
Two.
Two to Fran.
Three.
Three to bow.
Four.
Four to Fran.
Five.
Five to Zach.
Five to Zach going once.
Five to Zach going twice.
Sold to Zach.
So I want to give a shout out to Corey.
I met Corey at a book signing last week.
A big fan of Swooper.
A big fan of our show.
I appreciate Corey.
And Corey also gave me some strategy help,
not for submissions, but for bidding that I'm keeping in mind today.
So thank you, Corey.
Okay.
You want to share?
Why would I share?
Why would you tell us?
I'm giving Corey recognition on the show.
That's like that's a powerful thing.
We have a platform here.
I want Corey to know you're heard and you're appreciated.
I think I know what the advice was.
I'm not going to say because I want you to know that I know what that advice was.
Interesting.
Okay.
My first submission.
Somebody on either team in this.
game finishes with exactly 76 yards from scrimmage and the connection here of course
Josh Harris the owner of the Washington commanders also the owner of the Philadelphia 76ers
odious so someone in this game finishes with exactly 76 yards from scrimmage and I'll start
the bidding at one I just I just googled how old is Josh Harris 60 I've been looking at his
Wikipedia page
a lot, actually.
It just says about
60.
He'd be a vampire. I don't know.
Yeah, I mean, he looks like a vampire.
He's been sucking poor people's blood for a long time.
Hasn't given a lot of, like,
color to his cheeks, but...
Staying out of this one.
One going once.
We have a bonus show tonight, and we're talking about...
Yes, oh, that's right.
We should have been teasing this much sooner.
Thank you for doing that.
Zach.
We've got the bonus show this week.
We'll be tonight.
Prime time 8 o'clock.
We're going to have Kyle Newbeck join us
at the top of the show.
Talk all things, Josh Harris.
Nice.
And then we're going to have Vinnie Curry
join us as well.
That's awesome.
That's Zach and myself, so I should be fun.
Two.
Two to Zach.
Okay.
Two going once.
Two going twice.
Sold to Zach.
So I'm down to what?
14.
Okay.
Yeah, you got three items for 10 turkeys.
Yeah.
You love an ice.
item. Thank you, Corey.
Thank you, Corey. Thank you, so much.
He knew. Now he knows that two is the number that comes after one.
Corey, just know. I'm on here.
Good job, Corey.
All right. Let's go to the Dana's submission.
One sec.
Okay.
Item number four.
This is a normal auction and then losers complete the sentence.
Okay.
Okay, so.
All right, so it's a normal auction.
and Y will combine for fewer than 100 receiving yards.
Losers of the item will choose X and Y after the auction where X and Y are any of A.J. Brown,
Devante Smith, Terry McLaurin, and Diami Brown.
A hundred.
Fewer than 100.
Fewer than 100.
I'll start the bidding.
I'll say two.
Three.
Four.
Four to Fran.
Five.
Five to sack.
Five going once.
Five going 20.
Zach, hot and heavy early on.
Clean sweep of the first four items.
Where do you want to go here?
That went for five.
We went for five.
Yeah.
So this is fewer.
Fewer than a hundred.
Yes.
You're not going to just let me pick exactly last week.
Let's talk it out.
Yeah,
I'm not going.
Deami Brown's got to be one of the two, right?
Now, what do you think about going Terry McClure and Diami Brown?
Because the odds are the two of as much as Jane Daniels is going to throw.
Yeah.
But, I mean,
he throws us to other people,
whereas, like,
would you be tempted to go AJ and Devante?
But I don't know.
That's the thing is that,
so McLaren has now gone,
I think it's five of the last six games.
He's had at least 85.
Now,
the first game,
the Eagles did a number on them.
He had the one big play
and didn't do too much else in week 16.
The chalk would probably be
Diami Browne,
Devante, right?
Or no, no,
oh, I'm sorry.
We want it to be hot.
We want it to be.
So you think.
right yeah we want
we wanted to be high right
he has it for fewer
yeah we'll combine for fewer yes we'll combine for fewer
so we need this to be higher yeah
it's not like last week right
so should we do
oh shoot I was betting on it like it was last
and McLaren that's the chalk
or should we
should we
let's go back to the Army Brown by the way
as the commander right
right okay
I think
I had done AJ
just
I think AJ McLaurin is like the chalk.
Yeah.
That's what he should have been bidding on that possibility.
I think you got to go McLaren over Diami.
Okay.
Yeah.
But do we say like Jane Daniels is going to throw the ball around?
What are the chances that both of his top two receivers are not going to combine for at least 100 yards.
Against his defense though.
Yeah.
All right.
Let's do it.
Let's do AJ and McClearn.
I think, yeah.
So you got AJ and AJ Brown.
I was reading this one like it was last week's item.
What's funny is I was reading it.
I was reading the right way.
And then as soon as we started to talk about it.
I was like, oh, wait.
Yeah.
Okay.
All right.
A.J. Brown and Terry McLaurine combined for fewer than 100 yards.
So, Zach's down to nine, right?
Sacks down to nine.
Can't take it with me.
It's France.
Wow, it's a new Zach.
Yeah, Corey, really thrilled at home.
What did he say to you to change your entire world outlook?
I'll tell you what.
If you tell me you're from Wharton, you can tell me anything.
And I'm like, yeah, it's Wharton.
Yeah, that tracks.
That completely tracks.
The thing is just completely.
Completely.
Completely impressed.
only by pedigree without any interest without any affection of it at all.
Because they probably took a class from Professor Selman.
So that is why.
Yes.
Fran, it's your submission.
All right.
Let's talk my next one.
All right.
The Eagles have at least as many pass plays of 20 plus yards as the commanders.
Start the bidding at three.
Eagles have at least as many passplays of 20.
But are we counting penalties?
No.
Has to be a completion.
It has to be a completion.
you start the bidding at what three i mean i'll say four but give this one to you for four
well i'll take it for five i'm going once i'm going twice i mean eagles do not allow a lot of 20 plus
card pass plays that's the so yeah i mean i usually provide color with my choices here uh yeah the
the eagles uh from an explosive play rate let me one second uh so yeah the the the
Washington offense in terms of explosive pass rate.
Actually only they're pretty relatively low over the course of the season.
The Eagles obviously have been outstanding number one 10.6% and then that's defensively
offensively the explosive pass rate 14th for the Eagles offense 22nd for the
Washington defense.
All right you got it.
Eagles so 19199.
Correct.
All right.
So this is a fun one here.
uh,
Zach Ertz has more catches and yards than his postseason average at Lincoln Financial
field.
So he played a postseason game there in 2013.
He played two postseason games there in 2017.
He played one postseason game there, 2019.
Um,
he needs both more more catch and yards.
Yes.
To both be more.
Both have to be more.
So he needs five,
he needs five plus catches.
He needs 48 plus yards.
Uh,
I was going to do his highest one,
but he played real well on that.
Minnesota game. He had like eight for 90 something.
That was the Harrison Smith game, of course.
So I want to get a Zachert's item here.
So this is, I will start the bidding at one.
Will Zachers go five for 48?
On the attack.
He's been their best red zone weapon.
Been the most prolific player inside the 20.
But he hasn't been a big yardage guy.
Yeah, the fact that it's both is tough.
I mean, I got the game long up.
One turkey item, you know.
The last time he would have done both.
He did it in week 17 against Atlanta.
Derek, yes, there's a bonus episode tonight.
8 o'clock, Bo Wolf, Zach Berman, Kyle Neuback.
He did it against the Eagles.
Vinny Curry.
The week 11 game, he did it.
7 for 47?
Wow, he would have just missed it in the week 11 game.
He had 7.447 in the game.
So once in the second half.
One going once.
One going twice.
Oh, I like this.
One sold to Zach Berman.
one turkey item you don't see a lot of that i got two zach items here this is right
xz four plus was 47 plus 47 point yeah he average 47.7 point so he needs 8 48 all right my item
let me a little a little uh prologue on this one one thing that i have been i have been
bothered by over the no this is this is honest this is one thing uh well yeah one thing i've been
bothered by but the eagle's offense recently is all of all of the cowards draws right there are
been so many times this especially in the playoffs right i mean it feels like a lot of times where it's
third and eight plus or whatever it is and they're giving it up and nick of course referenced the well
we scored on the coward's draw you love that game so i looked it up eagles have had 16 plays this
season on third and eight or longer when they have just had a straight run so no scramble no kneel down
no no spike and they have converted one of those 16 and that was the jacuan berkeley touchdown right
they run the ball on third and eight plus more than any team in the league other than the
Colts but they're like 15th or 16th in success rate one of him and Shane that was there yeah
I don't know meanwhile they convert uh at a pretty good clip when they do pass the ball on those plays
great point both you might be thinking okay well you know this is the turnover avoidance jalen
hurts on those 73 dropbacks has three interceptions and one fumble but all of them came in the
first four weeks of the season they haven't done they haven't had a turn up on those
plays since. And so I would like to see them just be willing to throw the ball on those plays.
Do you have the yard lines for the like are they in plus territory or?
Well, I can look at them. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. I mean not for the item. I'm just curious in
general like are they doing those those runs often to set themselves up for field? But there's so many
of them. It's all different kind of situations. Anyway, so the item for this one is, uh,
I went a little bit more specific here. At some point in the game, either team converts a non-scramble run
on third and 11 plus
and the reason I chose 11 plus
is because Josh Harris is reportedly worth
at least 11.5 million
billion dollars
so 11 billion billion
that's before selling snow too
yeah exactly so either team
converts a non-scramble run
of third and 11 plus and I will start the bidding at one
one going once
I want you to have Josh Harris items
okay sold
I don't know if we've ever had a had two one turkey items go.
All right, we go to Danes' second item.
Let me read the rule, make sure.
Okay, this is fixed price auction, normal auction with changing item value, highest bid for X wins.
Okay, so fixed price.
Fixed price auction.
So it's like it's going to cost a certain amount of turkeys.
Yes, so this item will cost five turkeys no matter what.
Yes, no matter what.
and then it's we're bidding on the worth of it.
Yeah, players bid up to X number points and the highest bidder wins.
Okay.
Okay.
All right, so the Eagles will score at least X points.
And so this is going to be worth five turkeys,
and we are bidding on how many points we think the Eagles will score.
All right.
I'll start with 20.
21.
24.
25.
27.
28.
29 30 31 I want to keep going here um yeah I'm back in office 31 going once that's a good one
going twice so we got it that that that feels pretty good that's I feel like that's the
right value right yeah for five turkeys all right friend your last submission all right
either team gets a sack on a play where they run a stunt the Eagles we talked on Monday
Jalen Carter getting home on a couple fake stunts but more it has to be an actual stunt
and no faking yep has been no faking but as Vick said they run that stunt against the Rams
Bo asked some the question so yeah yeah but yeah but yeah so OJuma got home for the sack earlier
game. Washington has been very good on stunts.
Obviously, the Eagles gave up a bunch of
sacks on stunts last
week against the Rams. Let's start
the bidding at four.
Four going once. Fallacy
five. Six.
Six. Six going once.
Six going twice.
Sold to Fran.
I am up here. Jake Elliott
does not miss a kick
and that is field goal or extra point.
Classic. This is Zach Classic.
Yep. Jake Gillette does not miss a kick.
Field goal or extra point.
Penalties don't count.
Penalties.
It has to be an official.
Usual Zach rules.
Yeah.
An official thing in the stat sheet.
Okay.
I'll start with one.
Two.
Three.
Four.
Five.
Six.
After this, it's just Bowens and is.
Seven.
Going once.
It's old.
Seven going twice.
Sold to Zach.
Zach is all piling up the items.
Thank you, Corey.
Shut up
Corey, shout out to Amazon.
Thank you, Corey.
One turkey left for Zach,
eight for Fran,
18 for me.
My final item.
This weekend,
we get the Josh Harris
trifecta of losses.
And so that means
that the Eagles beat the commanders,
the Sixers
lose on Saturday night
at Chicago
against the Bulls
and the
New Jersey Devils lose on Saturday night in Montreal against the Canadians.
We will count shootout losses as a loss.
I thought you would put Crystal Pallas in here.
They have a game Sunday against Brentford.
Well, I did say trifect.
I shouldn't have said for it.
But yes, yes.
We do often forget just how rich Josh Harris is.
He actually owns another.
I'll start the bidding at one.
The six was Roberto last night.
Devils are awesome.
This year.
have not been following them good management one going once joking
one going twice wait wait wait wait wait how many turkey you can't bid too okay
okay okay I thought I had nine okay no before these the seven no you got the earth's one for one
oh that's right okay okay all right last one uh Fran has eight turkeys I have 17
Zach has one as we go to the final day niz okay here are the rules
that you can read from a bell.
Oh, geez.
Players submit sealed bids.
The highest bidder wins,
but all players must pay whatever they themselves bid.
Turkeys can be borrowed from next week.
If there is a tie,
the tied players continue in a normal auction
until there is a winner.
But the all pay rules continue to hold
so everyone pays whatever they bid last.
If all players refuse to break the tie,
They all still pay their bids and nobody gets the item.
All right.
Everybody understands.
So it's got an all-pay Amish auction with extra credit possibility.
Oh, there's an okay, so there is an extra credit possibility.
So we know that.
So that changes.
Do you have to bid?
You don't have to bid.
Okay.
But that changes things.
Sorry, my bed.
Now you can borrow from next week.
I think we can guess what the item is going to be,
but there's going to be a bonus option.
And so you're not only paying for the item,
you're paying for the option
to also have the second item.
Everybody understands.
Yes.
Yeah. Yeah.
Okay.
Let's see.
What's the score and swooper right now?
Can we go through there real quick?
You're up a half point on me,
and three and a half on Zach.
So Zach, if he wins this week,
take the lead.
Yep.
We double check it.
That's right,
just so I'm not castigating.
Yes, you are up three and a half on Zach.
All right.
Okay.
And next week would be worth eight points.
Five.
No, five points.
Five points.
I thought I could remember it was double or okay.
Okay.
And this week is worth four points.
Correct.
I'm ready to reveal my bid.
One second.
Mine was sent to joy.
I don't write it down.
Yeah.
Okay.
All right.
We didn't even see the item,
but I'm assuming the item is the Eagles win, right?
Yeah, yeah.
Okay.
Okay.
Yeah.
All right.
So the item is the Eagles win.
I've written down my bid.
You've sent it to Julia?
Yeah.
All right, Julia.
What did Zach bid?
Zero.
Zero.
Yeah.
You can pretty much telegraph that,
which is interesting.
Well, because I didn't think I'd be able to outbid you.
So I didn't want to be in a turkey deficit for next week.
Sure.
I'm willing if the Eagles lose, all I lost was one turkey.
Sure.
If that was my logic.
If I had more turkeys, I'd be aggressive here.
But I didn't think I'd be able to out bid you guys.
I think Fran's going to get this.
But I bid, I bid just to cover my bases.
I bid three.
Just in case you didn't think I was going to bid.
I thought you were going to go in.
I thought you were going hard.
And so what did Fran bid?
I bid too many.
25.
25!
I wanted to make sure that you had that, because my, here was my thought, right, I thought
you were going to go to your limit.
That's what I thought both you were going to go to your limit.
I thought you were going to go to your limit.
I wanted to make sure I got it because I wanted to make sure I still was ahead of you.
If I won, I would still be way ahead of Zach.
Yeah.
Zach wouldn't be able to catch me.
I wanted to make sure that I was ahead of you.
Okay.
So 25.
So I'll be down.
So you're going to be, you're going to have, you're going to have seven turkeys for
the Super Bowl.
hope they get to the Super Bowl.
I'll be the only person that would catch me would be you.
Right.
Right.
Yeah.
Okay.
Unless I will, yeah.
All right.
So I am down to 14 turkeys.
So I'm going to have, if the Eagles get to the Super Bowl, if the Eagles lose this week, I can't win the game.
Right.
Eagles lose this week.
You can't win.
That's what I'm betting on.
So I will, if the Eagles get to the Super Bowl, I would have 38 turkeys.
Fran would have seven and Zach would have 25.
But for this week, Fran gets the Eagles win.
and what's the bonus option?
Bonus extra point is.
Extra point if this hits
and the winner correctly predicts
the Eagles Super Bowl opponent.
So you're an extra point.
You don't even have to pay for this?
Interesting. Okay.
It's a little bit, you know,
you should have to pay like two turkeys or something, but okay.
Hey, I spent 25.
I'll take my bank for my buck on that.
All right.
So this week,
if the Eagles lose this weekend,
And there can only be two winners.
It could be Zach or it could be Fran.
My only items, well, I guess that's not true.
I could win or me and Zach could tie.
I have two items this week.
I have either team can successfully converts a run,
a non-scramble run on third and 11 plus.
And we got the Josh Harris trifecta loss.
Fran has the Eagles have at least as many 20 plus pass plays
as the Washington commanders.
the Eagles score 31 points.
Either team gets a sack on a stunt.
The Eagles win and a bonus point
if the Eagles are playing the bills in the Super Bowl.
Zach, a nice poo-poo platter.
Zach Bonn is involved in a turnover.
The Eagles have more fourth-down conversions than the commanders.
Any player in this game has exactly 76 yards from scrimmage.
A.J. Brown and Terry McLaurin have fewer than 100 yards receiving.
Zach Ertz has a little.
at least five catches and at least 48 yards receiving,
and Jake Elliott does not miss a kick.
There you go.
All right.
So if the commanders win and Jackerts and Zacherts hits,
that he have a role in winning that game?
I would say so.
Okay.
Yeah.
All right.
We got to get going for the flyers quickly.
Super chats.
Evil Zach Berman says,
Bo, can you spend a little time talking politics?
It's typically my favorite part of the show and makes me feel comfortable.
That's classic.
like Zach, we'll do that just at the end.
Brian Backer says,
what are the odds that a missed kick by Jake
comes back to bite us this weekend, in your opinion?
Zach does not think it's that likely.
He thinks there's seven turkeys worth of it not happening.
Positive reinforcement from Michael Clay.
There you go.
I mean, it's certainly possible.
It really would be just a bummer
if that's the way that the season ends.
Khalif, at three Eastern on Saturday,
should I watch, well, I think he means Sunday.
Should I watch the NFC?
championship game in the comfort of my own home or attend my daughter's third birthday party that
is also in my home. Can you change the time of the birthday?
Party?
I mean, the birthday party is not going to last three hours.
I think you can do enough birthday party.
Happy birthday.
Yeah.
Yeah, seriously.
That's awesome.
Birthday parties are wonderful.
Kids are so happy.
You hate birthdays.
Yeah, but my daughter's birthday.
I love that.
I mean.
Who else's birthday is coming up?
Big day tomorrow.
Julia.
Julia.
Julia.
Julia.
And Zach, how old is she?
I can't say that on air.
Yeah.
I know better than doing that.
Yes.
Yes.
Happy birthday, Julia, tomorrow.
Make sure that everybody gets that message across to her in the chat.
Very quickly, Chase Daniel,
Planned view with the SuperChats,
says Josh Harris deserves no love in his life.
He said it.
Although I do have to say
The people who, you know,
connect to the dots about me not being on the show yesterday
and the guy going around the city
I don't know.
I wish.
Several mentions on Twitter and Blue Sky about that.
All right.
Let's end this bad boy.
We're going to be back tonight at 8 o'clock.
Zach Berman, Kyle Neuback, Vinnie Curry, myself.
It should be fun.
Have a little bonus primetime episode.
Thanks to everybody for watching today.
Safe travels to Fran.
Thank you.
Safe travels to Fran.
Please go over to the,
the first episode of the draft show
and give it a thumbs up,
comment on the video,
let's get that bad boy
rocking and rolling in the YouTube Algo.
So for all of us here at PHOY,
we thank you for watching and listening.
We'll talk to you tonight
and then tomorrow and then the day after that.
