for the P.H.O.Y. Eagle Show live from the Xfinity Mobile Studio on a Monday afternoon.
Bo Wolf. Fran Duffy. E.J. Smith. We got, we got all kinds of things going on before the show.
You know what? I've seen the feedback. My camera quality, not great. Went and got a nice new, like,
webcam to make it look better. But it's freezing up. It's freezing the computer.
Oh, no. It's making me choppy. We can't have it all. You're going to have to just view with blurry
me.
How are you guys doing?
We're good.
We were actually talking webcam before the show.
So, you know, this is a hot topic around the PHY Studios.
You know what?
No good deed goes unpunished.
What the hell?
Unbelievable.
How was your guys, Fran, let's start with you.
How was your NFL week one weekend?
It was great.
Yeah, we took in some college football on Saturday and then, you know, sat down for the full,
slate of games yesterday.
watched. So I was trying to go back and forth between like, all right, do I want to do I want to do I want to do I want to do I want to just like sit and just watch full games? So I went full games yesterday. So went Giants commanders with the one o'clock switched over to the Packers Lions game and then obviously ended it with what was I mean it's going to be like one of the top three or four games of the year I'd imagine with what happened last night between Buffalo and Baltimore.
Well, raise my hand, went to bed after the Derek Henry touchdown. Yep. You know.
Some of us.
I don't really regret it.
I mean, obviously, I wish I watched the game.
But in the moment, it felt like the right decision.
I, you know, got to get got to catch up on sleep.
I maybe was nodding off.
And my Julia woke me up after the bill scored, you know, so they were eight points down.
And she goes, I think you're going to want to watch the end of this game.
And I was like, you know what?
That's a good call by you.
So shout out to Julia.
Did that happen or did you invent this just to make up for.
No, I assure you that this happened.
So I miss the, I miss them cutting it.
to one possession, but I was locked in for the rest of the game.
What were your big takeaways yesterday, E.J.?
About that game, or just in general?
Yeah, throw it around.
We got lots to get to.
We're going to revisit our spread your wins and fly drafts.
See if there are any draft picks you would like to take back.
We're going to get some leftover notes from Fran, but just, you know, top down, EJ, what
was your number one takeaway?
Yeah, I mean, I think the Packers are legit.
You know, I think that was the biggest takeaway that I had, you know, the fact that not
only did they beat the lions convincingly, but they have, like, room to improve because of the fact
that you, you'd expect to see Michael Parsons will take on a bigger role. He only played the 29
snaps. I was reading an Albert Breers piece this morning. And, uh, yeah, shout out to Bert.
And how basically Michael Parsons has really only gotten acclimated with the Packers Nickel
package so far. You know, he has not really been gotten up to speed with the rest of the defense.
So again, I think that there's a Cuba plan. Exactly. Right.
So I think that there's reason to believe that that that defense can be even better by the end of the season.
And they do.
They feel sort of like a worthy adversary for the Eagles in a lot of ways.
You know, they're a young team, an athletic team.
They've got a quarterback that's kind of on the fringes of those elite quarterbacks.
They have a good coaching staff.
So, yeah, no, they had an organizational push to take away the Eagles best play.
That's a good point.
Yeah.
I mean, the rivalry here is it's perfectly fomented.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So they feel like that, that foil for the.
Eagles going into the year for sure.
Well, it's a good thing for those of you who have joined up for the Philly
sports trip because we're going to be going out there for that big game on a Monday night.
That'll be, there'll be very fun.
First game after the buy for the Eagles.
All right.
As we get started here, reminder, the supporters club, you can join.
You can get those custom emojis, support us.
You know, we ask, we don't ask very much.

we're doing all these things for you.
Maybe we'll have an emergency podcast.
Jalen Carter gets suspended later.
Who knows?
But do what, do it.
Do a little something for us.
That's all.
No big deal.
You can be doing guys with Fran.
All right.
Let's take a deep breath.
Let's talk to meagles.
Post Zedaria Smith.
We are here now.
E.J., any word on a potential suspension for Jalen Carter?
Nothing yet.
You know, I'm definitely keeping an eye out for any news on that.
I mean, obviously there was some national speculation about all of this, but I'd still be surprised if he got suspended at this point.
You know, it would obviously break precedent.
You know, you've seen the national reporters talk about the push from the league to respect your opponents.
And, you know, I even saw reporting from Jonathan Jones to CBS sports about how the Florida defensive linemen spitting on somebody on Saturday might factor into the decision making on what they do with Jalen Carter, which seems really strange to me, if I'm being honest.
I don't know. It's not like, that's like, that's completely out of Jalen Carter's control.
And you really think like Jalen Carter like invented spitting on a player? I don't know.
But nonetheless, I would be surprised to see it.
I think that he probably will get a hefty fine and then this will be put to bed.
Here's what I was thinking about.
What if what if Jalen Carter is actually like a really good teammate in all of this?
What if we've seen, you know, Vic Van Gogh was such a good defensive coordinator.
There are times where, you know, he calls the perfect play for what the officer.
offense is running. It's like he's like plugged into the matrix. It's like he can, it's as if he
can see the future. And so my thought is, what if a genie or somebody from the future came to
Vic Fangio was like, hey, Vic, I can't tell you how exactly. But if one of your players spits in
Dak Prescott's face, you are guaranteed to win this game. There is no chance you will lose.
You are guaranteed to win the game. Vic passes this on to the team. I'm not saying anybody's got to do it,
but if you do it, we will win this game.
Jalen Carter, you know, this offseason, we all expect,
is going to become one of the highest paid non-quarterbacks in football.
If you know you're not going to get suspended,
you're just going to get a really, really significant fine,
and you're going to guarantee you win the game,
I don't know, maybe he's the right guy to do it.
He's the one who can afford it.
You're going to get a no sell for me on that one.
Yeah.
I mean, we can.
can't have we can't have moral ojimo on a third year six-round contract being the one to put that bill
why wouldn't zach bond do it then because you know what you need the linebackers
they're really losing this one now jeline carter's going to get paid more than zach bond
jalen hurt should have done it by this by this plus zach bonner is a captain of logic jillin carter
is not a captain so you can't have a captain both leaders in their own way so i don't know about this one
I'm just saying that that is a possibility.
It's not likely, but it's a possibility.
And if that were true, Jalen Carter did the right thing.
You've had better theories in your time.
I agree.
All right. Beyond Jailen Carter, E.J., there is other Eagles news today.
There's an interesting workout.
Yeah, so the Eagles had veteran cornerback Mike Hilton in for a workout,
31 year old exclusively a slot cornerback option.
And yeah, I think we'll see how this plays out in the next couple hours.
But I don't know, they have a roster spot open.
I think it's important to mention.
So this wouldn't, this wouldn't need a corresponding move if they do decide to sign him
because they cut Kenyon Green, which, I'll be honest, I might have, might have predicted that a couple days ago on our Friday show.
Yeah, you did say he was a 53rd man on the roster.
So don't hurt yourself, man.
patting your back too hard on that one.
Yeah,
I'm not very...
You got a new supporters club member,
Shethe Matthew.
Hey, Matthew, welcome.
Thank you, Matthew.
Appreciate that.
Why do you think they did that?
What was the point of the Kenyan Green chicanery?
Oh, the Kenyan Green thing?
Maybe it was to clear a roster spot for a Mike Hilton.
But why sign them to the roster then?
It's so weird.
I guess...
Bringing him up last week was a little bit like...
It's a little bit like dangling the worm and the, like, it's like,
people didn't claim Kenyon Green at cutdowns, but like maybe now they'll claim him and
somebody at least will be on the hook for this year's contract. Yeah, I don't, especially,
I couldn't tell you, but it did seem strange to call him up. I like my initial thought was,
well, maybe they were worried about him getting claimed off the practice squad because they've
lost some guys in the last few in the last week or two. Like, you know, you think about Trevor Keegan,
but again, it's like, I don't know. It doesn't, doesn't feel like a solid reason to do it.
So.
Or they just like effing with him.
I don't know.
Tough.
All right.
So, Fran, what kind of player is Mike Hilton?
And if they were to sign him, what would it tell you about how they feel about the
cornerback room?
Yeah.
Mike Hilton has been a good player in the league for a while.
Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, just a, he's undersized, but really scrappy, instinctive,
kind of like inside outside.
I would say most of his best football has come in the slot.
Now, it would be similar.
Like if you think about him at his peak, he is a better version of like Avante Maddox at his peak.
He is what you're hoping like Mac McWilliams if he hits the ceiling.
He's that kind of body type, that kind of skill set, that kind of play personality.
So that's what you're hoping for, you know, in terms of like predicting the future for Mac Mac Williams.
If the Eagles were going to bring in Mike Hilton now, I would be interested to see like, okay, what is the ultimate vision here?
Is he someone that you feel like can be a backup at both inside and outside?
do you sign him with the vision that he's going to be your starting nickel because otherwise like why
would hilton want to come here if he's just going to be you know a reserve maybe he just wants to try and make a
run for a title that certainly is a possibility there from his end but i would think from a motivation standpoint
he wants to go somewhere where he's going to play and contribute so to me like if you're going to bring in
mike hilton my guess is that you're doing it to put him on the inside and then that would mean cooper de gene
would go outside but that's going to be fascinating to see if they do ultimately make that move here
within the next 90 minutes or so.
Yeah, I mean, to me, it would be hard to read
Mike Hilton signing as anything other than preparing for the off-ramp
of Cooper Tachene having to go outside
because you don't like any of your options there.
It's not saying they would, you know,
they're not going to shotgun to it in week two,
but like if we think that this is a potential inevitability,
then we're going to need somebody we trust inside
and we're not sure that Mac McWilliams is there yet.
Yeah, I don't know if I'm at inevitability quite yet with it, but I do think that this is like probably the best case scenario is that he gives you good enough play at that nickel cornerback spot that you feel like you can put Cooper to Gene on the outside and not lose that much in terms of what you're going to get in that slot position.
But I do.
I think that a lot of this hinges on exactly how the workout went and really just like what kind of player they can expect from Mike Hinton at this point in his career.
Like because I do think there is a chance like the Yvante Maddox example is the one that's kind of like.
the other side of the spectrum. Like if he is just your backup at two positions and somebody who kind of
gives you that that versatility to play from different spots, like, you know, Andrew McCuba
played six snaps as a as a slot corner. Well, I guess you call it a slot corner. That's what
PF have charted it as. And those mostly came out of dime. You think like that could be something
that Mike Hilton could fill in for if they needed him in that type of position. So I think it is like
it's type, it's good process to bring somebody like this in if they do end up signing him because it kind of gives
them more options. You know, I don't think, like, my first instinct was wondering, like, does this
mean that we're going to see Cooper de Gene on the outside, you know, right away? Like, is this
something that, you know, they're planning for? I don't really get that sense so much as I think that
it just kind of is a range of outcomes that includes that. Friend, how did you feel about the handful of
snaps we saw Cooper DeGine take on the outside in week one? Yeah, to me, you know, I went back and just
rewatch them this morning once the Mike Hilton news came down. And I mean, it was, I think 12 plays and
them were runs because obviously it's base defense so it's a heavy personnel but so you're talking
four dropbacks and i'm pretty sure three of them were off play action so it's like uh you know there was
not much of a sample uh most of it came with him going against a tight end again because of the nature
of the personnel that he was going up against so um i would say that anything to draw from this game is
it's it's not existent it's more all right what did we see in training camp and obviously his tape at
i i did think when i did the evaluation of cooper d'ugene that i do think i do think he could play
outside. Like I think he's a viable player on the outside. To me, it's just the, you know,
you're going through the calculus. Okay, if you're going like Madden ratings, all right? If he's a 95 as a
slot corner, is he in 87? Is he in 91? Is he an 83 as an outside corner? You know, you start going
and then what does that mean for who you're going to replace him with on the inside? That's what the team
would probably try and have to, you know, try and do that math. For any of your language with this, like,
both because you're talking like the Madden ratings and like the the overall drop from a position
change and also because I'm so disconnected from Madden ratings these days is it like are they grading
on a skate like like like wasn't Tanner McKee like a 67 or something like yeah it's kind of nebulous
like I don't think it's definitely not like something that we can explain like you know you change
this rating you yep but you up his throw power and it changes it overall but yeah they're
definitely there definitely is an element of like it's like position by position but like for Fran like
I completely agree.
Like, I just wonder if that's really the best use of a skill set,
like him being able to do it and him being like a difference maker at a position.
Like those are two different conversations.
So maybe if you feel like Mike Hilton gives you enough of that from the slot,
it is worth it just to make your secondary.
You know, we talk about it being a weak link system to improve the weakest link of the spot in that secondary now.
But to me, I don't know.
I feel like what makes Cooper to Gene great is the fact that he can give you so much
physicality and versatility from that nickel spot.
But the question is not what is best for Cooper de Gene, as Big Fanjov has said, the question is,
what is best for the Eagles defense? And if they think that Cooper de Gene can be above
average on the outside and Mike Hilton can be average, maybe that is better than having a superstar
at one spot and a big negative at the other if it is, in fact, a weak league system, as you said.
I don't know. I don't know what the right answer is. Yeah, I don't think any of us do. I think
it is one of those things. And again, I think that's why it's important not to look at this Mike Hilton
potential signing as like, oh, well, that means Cooper DeGine's an outside corner because I don't know
if we're there yet. You know, I think that I still kind of want to see what it looks like. Even with
Jacorian Bennett, I just want to see what it looks like there. I would be, I would be shocked if they
went right to Cooper to Jean without giving Jacorian Bennett a chance first. Yeah. I think, too,
the other thing from a Mike Hilton standpoint, he spent the summer or a good chunk of the summer in
Miami, which like a very unproven secondary, like in need of bodies, didn't make that team.
So, you know, I don't, that's a little bit of a red flag as well, uh, in terms of like what
he could be right now at this stage of his career.
Right.
We are, we are probably making too much of a normal occurrence, which is working out some
veterans on a Monday, uh, when you play to give on a Thursday.
Like, but yeah, it's worth, it's worth talking about.
Anything else like newsy that you wanted to get into, E.J.
Yeah, there were a couple, like I said, that Sunday morning when,
some news trickles out from some of the national reporters.
Did you guys see that Jay Glazer reported the Eagles offered two firsts, a third rounder and a fifth rounder amongst other things?
Among other things.
What did you make of that?
I mean, it's not all that surprising that the Eagles were involved in this.
I mean, that is literally Holly Roseman's MO, but the amongst other things is doing a lot of work there.
Because I do wonder what those things work.
It's, yeah.
What if you had to guess and you get, you know,
$500,000 if you get it correct.
What would your guest be?
Jordan Davis.
Like, yeah, two years left on his deal.
Probably my guest, too, he's a run, given the defensive tackle.
Yeah.
I don't know if, because to me, it's like you needed both the star power at Edge,
which you also needed to improve your depth, hence the Zadaria Smith signing.
So like the Edge guys don't really do that much for me.
And it's also like from a salary standpoint.
It doesn't make as much sense.
I know Jordan Davis isn't making crazy money, but I feel like he's the one.
that makes sense as that amongst other things.
I kind of think so too.
And Fran, would you have done Jordan Davis two ones?
A third and a fifth?
Yeah.
Yeah, I would have done it.
I would have done it.
Look, I said when this first came up back in the summer, like three ones, I'm calling
right now three ones, because that's what's going to take to get the deal done in division
to trade them to the Eagles.
you have to blow them the way.
So I would be remiss or I would be, you know,
not true to myself if I wouldn't do this deal.
Yeah.
I mean, good for them.
I mean, of course, Howard's going to try.
Yeah.
As he should.
And good for him.
I don't think there's anything wrong with that.
Did you see a, oh, good, good.
No, you got it.
You go first.
All right.
Did you see that Michael Parsons said that Penae Soule is his new Lane Johnson,
his new rival?
Yeah, I did.
I, you know what?
I am not an Eagles fan, but it really does bother me when, like, I think Jason Garrett on the broadcast
last night is just referring to.
Micah Parsons said this to Penny Sewell, the best right tackle in the league.
Hold on a second.
Yes.
He is not the best right tackle in the league.
I know he was all pro last year wrongly and Lane missed in time.
But like, he is not the best right tackle in the league.
He is the second best right tackle in the league.
Honestly, the Parsons trade might be great news for Lane Johnson because like Micah lined up
against Lane has really not been a game wrecking force because of the fact.
that Lane is so good.
I like this.
And now that Penny Sewell is going to have to play against Micah twice a year,
maybe that takes a little bit of shine off it.
Because I remember when Penne got that all pro not over Lane last year,
it was me and Dave Zangero in the locker.
We were talking about this.
And it's like, that's not good news for Lane.
Like the fact that the younger guy already overtook him in the All-Pro voting
means it's going to be hard for him to overtake him again.
But I feel like Lane might get the leg up on him because the Micah Parsons of it all,
might take some shine off of Penny Sewell's All-Pro, All-Pro case here.
it really does trigger me like we talking about it's not so that was the second time during the NBC
broadcast that I was triggered yesterday there was that one and then the first time Buffalo ran the
push push that I was it was you know what it was like it was like the um it was like the meme of like
the couple sitting at the baseball stadium where the guy in the sunglasses whispering in the girls here
that was me with meg last night like Francis is asleep next to her so I couldn't get too loud
but I'm like the hypocrisy of the bills doing this and I'm like no no no you don't understand
And she's like, yeah, okay, like I get it.
I'm like, no, you don't get it.
Like, why this is, you know, so offensive to me right now.
But yeah, that was the other thing that set me off.
All right, the super chat we're going to get to is from Pat Fennis, which either an unfortunate
name or a clever spoonerism, Zadarius, and now this, referring to the Mike Hilton workout,
is starting to feel a little to 2023-ish patching holes with tired veterans.
What do you make of that for it?
No, I mean, that's what you're doing.
It's not like, you know, if you can't make the...
I will see a patch holes right now.
Yeah, right, exactly.
There's not, you know, I'm trying to think of who the...
You tried to trade for Michael Parsons.
You couldn't trade for Michael Parsons.
I'm sure they made calls for, you know, Trey Hendrickson.
And like, you have those kinds of calls.
You have those kinds of discussions.
But it takes two to tango.
And so if you can't make a trade, then you got to go with what's on the market.
And those are the players that are on the market.
I think there's a difference between patching holes with veterans in April.
and doing it when you get to the season
when there are no other better short-term options, right?
Like, you know, it would bother me if, you know,
they signed Mike Hilton to be the starting nickel in the spring
or something like that.
But now when you're reassessing, like,
you do what you can with what's available.
I think that's totally fine.
Yeah, and, you know,
it's different than like trading for Kevin Byard, you know,
like giving up equity.
Yeah.
Well, and they signed Limbaal Joseph and then Domic and Sue
the year they made it to the Super Bowl in 2022.
too. So we usually see this from Hallie Roseman. Now it is fair and true to point out that like
his best years, he doesn't have to do these types of things. You know, and those are the years
where they have been able to really maximize their potential is when he does hit on most of
those free agency signings when like the Aziz Ojolari's of the world hit for them. But again,
they really have done this each of the last few seasons. It's not just the 2023 season as an example.
All right. Time for us to take our first commercial break.
On the other side, we're going to talk about some film leftovers with the Duffman on the PHLY Eagle Show presented by Bet365 and Ashley.

All right, Fran, we talked about your, you know, your initial takes from the tape and a quick
turnaround from a late night, lightning delayed primetime game to the Friday afternoon show.
You've had a chance to let some stuff settle in.
You watch a little bit more of the offense than you had a chance to.
What are the things that you would like us to discuss?
Yeah, there's a few things that just like, honestly, that these are like cutting room floor,
because we did cover a lot, thankfully, on Friday.
I think we covered a lot of ground.
But just sort of little random little tidbits here and there.
First two plays of the game defensively,
Cooper DeGine made two really good plays.
Just kind of playing through contact.
And that's just one of those things I think
makes him so good on the nickel is that he's going to do that,
whereas most nickel corners are not able to be able to play through traffic
and find the ball.
He's stacked and shed, you know,
and found the ball carrier on one of those plays.
So I think that that's an area that you just kind of,
one of the things that makes him good in that area is his ability to play through
contact.
overall play strength.
Sorry, I thought you had something to say.
I apologize.
Cooper Jean's good. He's really good.
He's a good player.
And again, good in that role.
Another one. I think we might have hit on this a little bit, but a little bit of a
disappointing debut.
You know, I quote, use quotes with debut, but for a more Ojamo, you know, in that role as
a starting defensive line in place for Milton Williams.
I don't think that he, he had a couple of nice flashes against the run.
We didn't hear much of them against the quarter of them.
against the quarterback in terms of getting after Dak Prescott.
But I think the big thing, just he gets knocked back off the ball on first contact a little bit more than I would have liked to see.
It just has to get better overall playing with his hands.
So that's certainly something I'd like to see him get a little bit better at as we get into week two against Kansas City.
Defend your boy.
I'm sorry.
That's not his strength.
That's not his strength.
I think if I have to get on the defense stand for Mario Joma,
after this game.
Chalyn Carter got tossed.
It threw out the whole, the whole rotation.
Let's give him some time.
I think, I think that the relevant question is, is this something that you think he can get better at?
Or is this just he is physically overmatched in the run game?
Yeah, that's the thing.
I don't think that he's physically overmatched.
I think he just didn't have a good game.
You know, and that's kind of the way I looked at it.
Yeah, because again, Milton has been awesome.
He's been a very disruptive pass rusher, but he was awesome from the run.
against the run game from the jump.
And Morrow also was very good against the run in his small sample size over the first two years of his career.
And so I do expect better.
It's a good Dallas interior that he's going up against.
You know, Tyler Smith, Tyler Booker, two really strong, powerful guys.
So, you know, it was certainly a test.
But I just didn't think, Ojamola, you look particularly good from that end of things.
Staying up front, a couple nice route.
I don't think we talked about it too much.
But Josh Ushay, a couple of really nice rushes against small sample.
kind of like he had two-way go on a guy.
You just saw the quickness in his hands.
That's a twitch to be able to win inside.
When he's got that two-way go, he can be impactful, you know,
when he's got that kind of path to the quarterback.
That inside rush, which led to the Nolan Smith TFL, which led to the penalty, right?
But yeah, like, it's interesting when I did the, you know, the thing where everybody talked about Morrow
and who had a great summer, I really enjoyed what Agua Ocaronquo said about Ushay.
He chose Ushay, and he said, like, he's just, he has such a completely different style.
as a pass pressure than like anybody else.
And so like he gets to learn some things from him.
So as as a change up, it makes a lot of sense, right?
Because you're going up against, you know, Nolan Smith,
who was just like so like straight at you violent.
And then here comes Josh Ushae and he's like, like Euro stepping.
And, you know, it's like, you know, it's like going up from, you know,
I don't know, pick your athletic wing.
And then all of a sudden it's like,
it's like going from Jalen Brown.
Like yeah it's like going from Jalen Brown to like manu genobly right that's like
perfect that's a good yeah yeah you live that much better than I did thank you hey listen
that's what I'm here for good team and then for I think the last one yeah the last one
I had defensively not really talked about that much but on the play where George
Pickens got the you know the penalty against read blanket ship where he's trying to block
read blanket ship in the red zone really heady play by blanket ship not getting goaded into
into retaliating it was a really heads-up play you could tell he wanted to too that could very easily could
yeah he very easily could have retaliated and he's the one getting the flag and not picking so
they're a nice job there by read and what did we didn't i don't think we talked about the um the penalty
on read they're the roughing in the end zone that one's where i just like yeah i don't think that
i don't think that there's anything he could have done differently and yet i think they still have
to throw the flag no
it's tough yeah yeah that was that to me i read that the same way uh that that that's a tough one
for him in that you know he he got it was a bang bang play receiver goes low he's there there's no
way he's changing his trajectory that was that was just a tough one all around all right let's move
over to the offensive side of the ball friend you're hold on friend you you're a little laggy
so why don't you pop out pop back in uh and we'll we'll we'll flip over to the offensive side of the
ball. And Julia, if you flash up the Jalen Hertz heat map here of like where he, here we go,
the passing chart. Now, E.J. This is one that is being like weaponized against Jailen Hertz,
which I'm sure you have seen like, oh, Jalen Hertz is just dinking and dunkin. And it's true.
He didn't attempt a single pass between like 11 yards and 40 yards in this game. But for all
the reasons we talked about, you know, this is one where like, if,
this was like what every game was like, I could see you buying into it. But if you're,
if you're pointing this, it just, it's very clear that you didn't watch the game.
Yes. Yes. Yes. Thank you. I need to get this off my chest. Okay. I, and I may have complained
about this to a handsome podcast host that also lives in this area. These, some of these people
who like sit on social media and pontificate about quarterback play, they either, they do one of two
things here. They either don't watch the games and then they they pull up like a next gen stats
passing chart. And I have seen those from Jalen Hertz where they are ugly and they are indicative
of a bigger problem. But if you watched the game, you cannot tell me that like Jalen Hertz
did not have a good game. You can like we can have a nuanced conversation about like some of the
the pressure like how they handled pressure looks, how, you know, how the offense looked at the AJ Brown
of it all. But like, if you were watching the Eagles offense and you didn't think that Jalen
Hertz was the reason that they won the game, then I don't have anything for you. Like, you probably
didn't watch the game. And then on the flip side of this, and listen, I am like bullish on
Justin Herbert. He is exactly my type of quarterback. But like, the people who like pick his best
game of his career, basically, and are just like, if you've watched the games and you would know that
he's this good. It's like, come on, guys. It's intellectually decided. Well, there's also a thing where
Like, oh, look at this throw he attempted.
Like, oh, what a ballsy throw to attempt and he has the armstring for this?
And it's not completed.
It's like, okay.
I mean, he did have a five-yard checkdown he could have taken.
I'm not like, I'm all about take your shots.
Sure.
And I want, I want Eagles to take more shots.
But yeah, I mean, I'm esoteric gatekeeping of quarterback play has to stop.
We need to be.
I mean, it is also like there is something that.
you know, we have talked about, we had the discussion last week or the week before about
Jalen Hertz like embracing, like the history of being a black quarterback, right?
Yeah.
And the way that that means you play sometimes and the disconnect of people thinking that
means that you are not intelligent.
But there is a real issue in the way that like quarterback conversation happens nationally
that for some reason, like Lamar Jackson, it's like it's just cool if Lamar does it.
But for everybody else, and especially for.
Jalen Hertz, the positive effect you bring in the run game, not just as a scrambler, is just
wiped away. Like that, like that doesn't count as being a quarterback when of course it counts.
It's a huge part of what makes the offense work. Yeah, it is strange that we've gotten to a place
now where like we don't talk about Jalen Hertz as a runner very often. Like, you hear it with Lamar
and you hear it even with Josh Allen. Now Josh Allen is more extending plays and maybe it is the nature
of like those guys do it like superheroes.
You know, they look like Avengers,
like the way that they're running around,
jumping over people.
And Jaylon is not like a fun runner.
Right.
He is a workman-like player.
It's kind of a boring runner.
Yeah, but it's still productive and it is still a major part.
Again, when you watch that Eagles Cowboys game back,
when you watch the Eagles offense,
like I said it,
this is like an individual brilliance performance from Jalen Hertz.
It is like within the structure of things,
we are not getting what we want to get.
I am going to go get it,
for us. And like that is, I think it was like a perfect illustration of how he does in fact,
affect winning. And like, if you're going to like pull up the passing chart and go look at the,
look at the look at all these under and also by the way, they only had seven possessions like,
you know, it's like it wasn't the huge as volume of dropbacks to begin with like there again,
there are times where you can make that argument against Jalen Hertz, you know, especially at times
where there's been dry spells for the offense. You can make that argument that like he does not
access all parts of the field and he can sometimes be apprehensive and doesn't throw with
timing and anticipation. If you watch that game, I don't know how you can draw that conclusion.
Yeah. It's bad faith. It's, well, it's either bad faith or it's just, you don't know ball.
You didn't, you literally didn't watch the game.
All right, friend, we filibustered well. We are, we are back over to you.
No, but I honestly, it was one of the, one of the points that I wanted to bring up was, was this topic.
so I'm glad that you guys were talking about it when I came back because, yeah, like even just going,
going back through again and just watching, it was just good decision after good decision after
good decision from Jalen Hertz.
And in talking with a lot of people, you know, since that, like just over the weekend, like,
oh, you've been through the tape.
What did you think?
A lot of people which felt the same way.
And you could have questions, concerns.
I mean, he threw one pass that traveled more than 11 yards downfield.
Like, you know, quite, but the thing is is that there was not once where I wrote down,
like, oh, man, like he had this deep in breaker and he didn't throw it.
or he had AJ Brown on the slant or he had Devante Smith on this hitchh route.
It's right there.
Why didn't he pull the trigger?
No, there weren't those kinds of plays.
And so, you know, weird one game from a like where the passes were, you know, went kind of standpoint.
But I think it's a small sample.
I'm excited to see what the, the offensive infrastructure looks like here as we start to get through the rest of the schedule.
Yeah, I think we would all expect the, like, the offense to look a little different in this game coming up against the chiefs.
like we expect probably some more varied route concepts.
But what were your other takeaways from from the offensive side of the ballfront?
I really liked the,
I think it was the fourth play of the game,
the little flip play to Sequan Barkley from under center.
And just, you know,
we talked about the under center usage and the first couple of drives from the Eagles
and how that was something that was,
it's talking about like a different layer to the offensive game plan,
you know, using the under center looks.
That is certainly something that comes to mind.
Now, we didn't really see it after the second drive.
and it starts to get into like all right, which now I'm wondering right away.
All right, if you're splitting up the pie in terms of which coaches are responsible for which
parts of the game plan, who's doing the opening script because they're putting the under center stuff
in, whereas that's not really necessarily a part of it when you get into the red zone or different
areas of the game plan.
So I thought that that was interesting.
I'm hoping that we continue to see more of it.
They did have a lot of success from under center in this game with another small sample.
So I did like that little flip play.
And it was a nice counter off of a play that they do run when they have been under center in the
pass. So that was that was nice. I also really liked the, I know you're going to talk about something
on this play, but the Shipley swing pass. Yeah. That was a nice little story they told because the
snap prior, it's the exact same formation, the exact same motion, Devante coming across.
They do something different. And then, okay, here comes the, here comes the pass. The Shipley.
It was a good little building on what had happened. I thought that was well put together.
Yeah. And the blocking from John Dotson on that play was out.
standing he ended up getting two guys uh you had uh devante smith blocking out in front on that one as well
but uh johan dotson there was you know it was a couple drives before he caught the 51 yard pass
the only pass that dribbled 11 yards from jalen hurts in this game uh but i thought that was uh that was
really good stuff from john dotson on that play we don't know anything about shipley's ribs right ej
uh not yet we do have a roster move that i can share with you guys broken just broken yeah the eagles
have no not though it's not what you think the eagle signed it
Patrick Johnson to the active roster, signed Montreal Johnson and Holland Pierce to the
practice squad and released Elijah Cooks from the practice squad to clear a spot. So,
no space for Mike Hilton all of a sudden, which is interesting.
What I bet $100 that Elijah Cook is back on the practice squad next week?
No, I wouldn't bet that. I would not bet the opposite of that. I am with you. I think we see
things the same way with that. They love doing this. They love doing this move. This is why
Roger wants to ban the touch pushes because the Eagles have in effect like a 19 man
practice spot because they keep doing this dance.
What do they do to like, I mean, is it just literally like the allure for like Holland Pierce
for like, hey, like you get to work with Stout for two thirds of the season?
Like is that the is that like the idea?
Well, no, you get paid.
Right.
Well, don't they take care of these guys like they time it so that they do get paid.
That's part of why they do it.
I think if you do this, they're going to all of these guys are going to get paid.
So you are in effect paying like 18 or 19 practice squad players.
It's beautiful work.
I think.
Beautiful work.
It is interesting that they use that open spot for Patrick Johnson.
I wonder who, who if they do sign Mike Hilton still, who would be the, you would think
guy now.
You would think Ogbao or Aziz right now that you have Zadari Smith.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I probably, I'm going to think about it.
I don't want to say it and be wrong, but.
You think he's easy?
Yeah, I lean every so slightly as ease.
He hasn't shown anything all summer.
Again, there was one joint practice, but.
You know what the joint practice?
I don't know if we talked about this,
but the joint practice reminded me
that the best day Bryce Huff had all summer last year
was the joint practice against the Patriots.
Yeah, and he didn't do a whole lot with the 49ers yesterday.
I think it was a goose egg on the statute.
The penalty, I think, right?
All right.
All right, so the only thing is really quickly,
Devante Smith in the slot caught a catch in an empty matchup against linebacker.
That's been a slam dunk for Jalen Hertz in the last couple of years is when they do go empty.
Devante inside you get that man's own tail, but then also just like taking advantage of that matchup.
That's something that's been tried and true.
I did think, you know, going back through and watching Jalen again, like I thought that he made good decisions.
I think he was very judicious about, you know, not pushing the, pushing the limits, pushing the envelope when targeting players in the
vicinity of Duran Bland and Trayvon Diggs. Diggs has been extremely productive from an
interception standpoint against the Eagles in the past. Duran Bland has had plays against the Eagles in
the past as well. I do think Jalen was very wary of like, all right, I don't want to get too
dangerous here with trying to test those guys because they've been very good ballhawks over the
course of their career when healthy, but especially against the Eagles.
That makes a lot of sense. And in a game when you think you are the front runners, you take that
away. That's it. That's all I got. That's cutting room floor there. Great. I got one one quick
offensive take here. We talked about it, but I'm going to just, I'm going to keep banging the
drum on this one. If they are going to keep doing these heavy personnel sets, go get a dirty
work tight end. There has to be somebody out there. Like, I just, it just makes too much sense.
It's like, why, why isn't it happen yet? Well, Jackson Hawes last night. I mean, you know,
get a catch i saw after i went to bed down the seam and blocking defense events at the point of
attack i mean what you know uh what else can you ask from a the georgia tech rambling wreck
um that's so good i'm so happy for him in his final year um but no actually like my my
feeling on that e j like i don't even think it needs to be a dirty work tight end i think it should
be fred johnson like it should be fred johnson or matt prior like one of those guys should be
lean into it even more you lean into like the six o line stuff um that's
something we've seen teams around the NFL do, and I think that that would be advantageous for the Eagles.
Yep.
All right.

turkeys for training camp or spread your winds and fly first let's keep it eagles due
turkeys to training camp. Okay. Now, I've tallied up the turkeys that we all have, and I need to say
up front, this is stacked in EJ's favor because the first turkeys to training camp occurred at the
beginning of training camp, which you were not here for. And Fran, come on. And Fran is unfortunately,
that feels like an unnecessary handicapping here. I'm just saying. And Fran is on, the deck is stacked against Fran,
because he was absent for the final
turkeys of training camp
when we had the most information. So what I have done
is I was there for all three
so my totals are divided by three.
You two were both there for only two.
Your totals are divided by two.
So we have our averages, but just so everybody
knows,
information-wise, it's
stacked E.J. Bo,
Fran. So let me guess.
E.J. wins.
I'm not telling you. We're going to go through it,
position by position. Let's start about
Let's start with the offense first where the quarterback three, who's going to be quarterback three on week one?
We didn't even have the field included here.
So Sam Howell is a zero for everybody.
Turkey is the training.
Running back three, A.J. Dillon?
Fran came out ahead on A.J. Dillon.
77.5 turkeys to E.J. 65 and my 60.
Tight end three.
Kyle and Granson.
I had 39.9 as the average.
Fran had 35.
E.J. had 45.
So E.J.
the high man on Kylan Granson.
Which is weird because I was the high man on Kylan Grantson all offseason long.
It's true.
But you missed the end.
Yeah.
You might have been able to bump that up a little bit.
We moved to a wide receiver four where, of course, the coop man takes it down.
More snaps in week one than John Metchy.
Darius Cooper, I believe.
I believe I was the high man.
I mean, I've been getting high on Darius Cooper all summer.
So hopefully that is how that played out.
We go then to the swing tackle position where it went to the field.
And if I can pull this up here, the field was a decisive win for me.
33 for me, 20 for Fran, 25 for EJ.
Actually, E.J, you had the most points on Darius Cooper because you were, you were,
relate to the game you had 35 i had 33 there we go and fran had 25 and then we also have right guard
where uh tyler steen obviously held it down i had 95 you also had 95 j friend you were down at
87.5 if that's go then by the by not that's where you got hurt yeah absolutely you go then to
the defensive side of the ball and we start with a defensive tackle four bit of an upset here
none of us were heavy on Byron Young as defensive tackle four.
I had five turkeys.
Fran had one and E.J. had two and a half.
You then go to the edge.
Josh Ushay, and this is where E.J makes a huge edge.
57 and a half for E.J.
To 47 and a half for Fran, 30.7 for me.
I was down on Ushay, and EJ gets a huge advantage there.
Jihad Campbell, I get a little extra.
E.J. 71 to Fran, and E.J. is 70.
at Corner.
I had 32 on at Dori Jackson.
Frayne had 40, and EJ had 33 and a half.
I get a big makeup at safety with Andrew McCuba.
I had 45.
You both had 27 and a half, which brings us to the totals.
And in fact, EJ does win.
EJ. 463.5.
Fran, 433 and a half.
Me at 454.7.
EJ., congratulations, your first win.
Easy game. Easy game.
You know, it just feels good.
I'm co-cane. Well, I'm king of the beats.
And now, winner of the training camp turkeys, I know it.
What gives me more satisfaction than like, like, the only reason I'm really taking the victory lap is because I know how much it's bothering you.
Like, I don't actually like.
No, the stick is stacking your favor.
It's like they played out exactly how it should have played.
It would have been deeply embarrassing if you could not win this game.
I agree that Fran,
unfairly affected by the circumstances here, but to me, a win is a win.
You know, this is, what would Jalen Hertz say?
You know, this is, it doesn't matter how it looks.
All that matters is the end result.
And this guy came out on top.
Oh, well.
I was on the edge of my seat there, as we got through it.
I will say, I predicted Rodori Jackson like a week and a half before it became common knowledge
that he was going to, that he was going to be CB2.
So I'll pat my back on that one.
Okay.
Tell me this.
After watching week one, who are you,
which eagle are you most excited to watch in week two?
Oh, that's a good question.
Jordan Davis.
I want to see if you can replicate.
I think that's the,
and what it looks like playing next to Jalen Carter.
I would say Jordan Davis would be number one for me.
Well, then in that case, let's make Jordan Davis.
The Shady Ray's future is bright.
That's right.
Thanks to our friends at Shady Ray's.
we can tell you more about Jordan Davis, E.J.
Did you get a chance to rewatch and did you feel the same way about Jordan Davis as friend did?
Yeah, no, I thought he really stood out, you know, a lot of what Fran alluded to.
I just feel like I feel like almost, I wouldn't say guilty, but I was really skeptical when he came into training camp and everyone talked about the weight loss that he had gone through.
And obviously he looked good, but we had just talked about it so many years before that, you know, I remember.
turning to my beat partners at the inquiry going like I don't want to write the story this year like I wrote
it last year in the year before it's just like it's the same story every year and I was wrong you know I will
admit that I was wrong about that he he seems to have made real progress being able to stay on the field
and yeah really be kind of I mean he was the impact player for them so yeah no I definitely I definitely
see it a lot of the way the friend does and um again I'll take uh I'll take my I'll take accountability there
for for really not buying it when he first got to training camp.
The whole point, though, is that he does have to keep it up.
Yeah, but still, even still, like the amount of snaps he played and how he looked playing them,
I do think he deserves a lot of credit.
The future is bright for Jordan Davis.
Congratulations to Jordan Davis.
All right.
Let's talk, spread your wins and fly.
And tell me what you guys think about this.
I'm not some kind of dictator who's going to be unilateral about things.
I want to toss this out there.
What do you guys think about as a tie breaker?
So if there is a tie.
Whatever you're saying, no.
No, no.
I think this is a very fair thing.
Because what we're going to talk about is if you could change one of your picks right now, which one would it be?
And so my question is, what if we made that the first tiebreaker is we look back on, you don't get to change your pick.
But we look back on week one and say, if you could change your pick, which one would it be?
And if one person gets that change correct and the other one doesn't, that breaks the initial.
that breaks the tie.
Otherwise,
the tie breaker
for spread your wins
and fly
is just a total
difference from the over-unders.
I think stick
with the original
tie-breaker is my feel.
Yeah,
I just don't give
some sticks to the episode.
No,
I don't trust you.
I feel like you got
something up your sleeve here.
Yeah,
the stakes in the episode are
trying to get out of the
Cowboys,
and that's what this is.
Yeah,
he's trying to get out
of the Cowboys over.
I actually don't think
that that would be the one
that I would change.
I haven't even
look like that
I don't believe.
I haven't even thought
about it since,
I thought more.
worry about. I thought this would be a fun conceit. No, yeah, you're right, Fran, because he's been
spending all day thinking about this. I'm mad. In fact it on us. Yeah. He didn't talk to nowhere. Right.
Yeah, it didn't give us a heads up or anything. I'm trying to be nuts here.
No, this is a simple. This I feel like Jilline Carter, no good deed goes unpunished. I'm doing this
for my teammates. All of a sudden, everyone thinks I'm the villain. No, this was a trap.
Nice try. Nice try. I actually think that the tiebreaker should be like, because he's
You said it was the most, what was it?
It was the most games separated from the over listed over undersers.
But I actually think it might have been in years past been like the overs the most,
but I don't remember.
Yeah.
Like I, that's not fair because then it incentivizes you to draft overs.
No, I like the idea of like you should get rewarded for, you know, if the team was a four
and a half.
And you said, you know, oh, I take the over and they went five over.
They're like five over that.
Then that should be, I don't believe a thing that you're saying right now.
You don't believe the thing I don't say?
Yeah.
don't follow. No, I, I, you're, you are trying to do your own chicanery now.
No, I, I, I said that last off season. When, when we reviewed last years, I said,
that's what I'm saying. It's the total difference between. I think that's right. I think that's,
that's the, that's the, that's the, that's the, the net, the net difference from. Yes.
I think that's fair. All right. Well, let's get into it, Daniel, Julia, we can flash up the
your wins and fly, uh, graphic courtesy of Danes. E.J. Tell me, we'll read through yours.
Tell me which one you would change if you could. You have the chiefs over 11.
and a half, the Ravens over 11 and a half, the Falcons over seven and a half, the Raiders over
six and a half, the Colts under seven and a half, the Texans over nine and a half, the Cardinals
under eight and a half, the Bears over eight and a half, the Rams over nine and a half, the Giants
under five and a half. And then you threw the flag on the Browns over five and a half and the
cowboys under seven and a half. Where would you make your change? You know, I think the change I would
make is actually my draft strategy here, you know, looking at how solid the top two or three
picks that you guys have here are in compared to the ones that I have. Do I feel great about the
chiefs over 11 and a half? Absolutely not. I don't. I did that for the bit. And now I'm looking
back at it. Like, what were you thinking? You sentimental fool? Like, why did you do that?
So if you ask me to change one, I feel, I think my general unease is actually in just the
general quality and solidity of my the group in general here i don't have many i would hang my hat on
i think i might i might change the colts under daniel jones looked pretty good yeah this could be
like a saints of this year where like a couple weeks from now they look the way we expected them to but
i don't feel great about that one the card the cardinal's under i don't feel great about that one i don't
feel great about any of them if I'm being completely honest with you. So, um, even like the Falcons over.
Like you, this is something I didn't realize about, uh, this, the, what this game was going to do to
me. I'm watching young. Oh, that's great. Come up for a game winning field goal. Like, come on, man,
you got to hit this. And when he doesn't hit it, I'm, I'm dejected. I'm complaining to my wife about
the Falcons game. So I just generally don't like what this game is done to my life. Um, and that's probably
what I would change. But if I had to pick one, I'm probably not taking the Colts
under, and I'm not standing on that. And the Brown's over was also tough, but I think the Colts
under is the one I don't feel amazing about. Okay. Well, the Colts Under is the inverse of the one
that I feel worst about. If we flip it back up, Julia. We've got the commanders under nine and a half.
That's going to be tight, I do think, but I would still, I would still take that. Saints under six
and a half feel good about Jets over five and a half. I still feel okay about that.
that even after yesterday. The defense, uh, crap to bed, but, but I was encouraged by the offense.
Bill's over 11 and a half. I'll take, uh, I'll take the way things turned out last night.
Bucks under nine and a half. I still like that. Cowboys over seven and a half. I'm still fine with,
uh, given the way that they looked in week one. Chargers over nine and a half. I will, I will
definitely take that. Here's the one. I mean, dolphins over eight and a half. I, a boy, boy,
would I like to change that. Uh, I feel just like that's a disaster. They might win two games this
year. The Patriots under seven and a half feel good about that. Panthers over six and a half I don't
feel good about. That was a pretty dispiriting performance. I think if you're a Panthers fan, like
Bryce Young just looked bad again. Broncos under nine and a half I feel good about and bears under
eight and a half. I'll tell you how I feel tomorrow. Fran, Packers over nine and a half. Go ahead. Well,
I'll read them. I didn't say. I nearly texted you like seven different times yesterday about Miami. So I figured
I'd just save it for the show today.
Why don't you read them down and tell us how you feel as you go through?
Sure.
Green Bay over nine and a half, feel great about that one.
Pittsburgh under eight and a half.
Oh, like, I think that's going to go either way.
I think that that's going to be a tough one.
Minnesota over eight and a half, we'll find out more tonight.
Cleveland under five and a half, that could get a little tight,
but they were able to come through from yesterday.
The one that I would say of my picks, that I'm like, oh, no,
this would be one it would be like one a one b Denver over nine and a half and then one b I would say it's
Tennessee over five and a half didn't look great yesterday those two teams played each other
um so I do think that uh the the Denver over and the Tennessee over are a little worrisome
for me Cincinnati over 10 and a half Detroit under 10 and a half I feel pretty good about um yeah obviously
it was they went up against a good team in green bay but some of the issues some of the concerns
I had about that offense in general uh I think did show up San Francisco
Francisco over 10.5. I think it just like not get hurt every two second. It feels like,
you know, you're hearing about a different 49er getting hurt. It's not, you know, every,
every other possession yesterday. Jacksonville over seven and a half. I would say, though, of all the
picks on my column that I'm like, oh, man, like, I worry about maybe taking the flag that I threw on
EJ for the Baltimore over and just saving that for your Miami over. I think that's, yeah, because
I felt so strongly about a Miami, Miami under eight and a half.
had I known that was the direction you would have gone
I would have saved it for the Miami
But if you felt so strongly, why didn't you draft it?
It was on my list.
It was on my list.
It was there.
I just, you know, it was a, that is volatile,
but you just felt the fact that you had to quadruple down on Miami and Tyree
Killed for the fourth time this off season.
I just,
I just felt a little.
Cowboys and Tyreek Hill.
That's the Bo's corner here.
That's the shit you guys are that way.
Let's beat me up in Bover time.
Yeah, I mean, I can't.
I can't defend the top of the dolphins over in any way.
It looked awful.
Did you see Ted Wins tweet,
he said Future Lions offensive coordinator, Mike McDaniel?
I like that.
Oh, that makes sense.
Yeah, I'd be very stock up on my on Detroit.
Because I was actually thinking about it this morning, too,
as we were, as I was thinking about this exercise.
I didn't draft.
I'm a Roussin-Bron and any fans of teams.
I don't have Jamir Gibbs.
I don't have Sam Laporta.
I was very worried about Detroit coming in offensively.
I think six six or seven don't you lose track at that point like you just have like the whole league
or do you have your guys I think I've got my guy I've got I'm I've got you know the I don't want to say I've got
the same 30 players but you know I've got Jalen Hertz on two teams I've got so you know I've got
the same you know the same group of players I typically pick from okay got you I've paired
once once upon a time I think I had like 15 I'm down to three I think that
I think the most I ever got.
I think I got to 10 one year.
That was it.
Feels better.
All right.
E.J., what else is going on in your life?
Not much.
I am,
I was going to share this earlier when I was watching,
like,
Fran is saying how he's explaining to Meg,
like,
actual, like,
things in his life.
I'm, like,
explaining to Julia,
like,
how,
like,
tackle trap works.
And,
like,
I don't even have,
like,
a great handle on these things.
Like,
I can't draw it up like Fran can.
But I got this,
like,
Apple pencil.
And,
I'm on my iPad, like, drawing this.
And the whole time, I'm thinking, like, my wife doesn't care about this.
But, like, she pretends to care.
So, you know, it works out well.
But, again, like, the tackle trap explanation of it all is, it's, it's, it was definitely the highlight of my night last night.
So a friend of the show, Jesse from Bertrand Hill Farms at the farmer's market yesterday.
And he absolutely loved that you were to, you did the right thing by making tomato, by growing tomatoes.
and you were too scared to actually eat them.
I've eaten the tomatoes and everything's fine.
Like, I've had some of the long huts.
I can acknowledge that I was being ridiculous.
I think the listeners should know.
That's not the last time I'm going to be ridiculous on this show.
Let's be real.
Yeah, we'll take it.
So, tomatoes are good, though.
Tomatoes are really good.
Okay.
All right, what do you guys think about the game tonight before we get going?
Chicago is interesting, man.
I just feel like that can go.
I think it's a very interesting.
Yeah.
Like,
yeah,
that's a there.
I don't know how to feel about them.
If you told me that they won 10 games this year,
I would believe it.
If you told me that they won five or six,
I'd believe that too.
I think that that's,
they are one of the more volatile teams to predict going into this year.
So for that reason,
I'm very excited to watch them tonight.
Whereas I also just,
I feel really good about Minnesota.
We talked about this when we did the spread your wins and fly.
Like,
uh,
I just feel like we are underrated.
that team or underrating that coaching staff.
So I am high on Minnesota coming into the year.
I think it's a fascinating game just from a, like as they debut,
the quarterback play caller interpersonal, right?
Because if Caleb Williams looks great, it's like, man, he got Ben Johnson and he's like,
he's rocking and rolling.
Like he turned that whole thing around.
And there's all the, you know, the reports of like how, you know,
not studying Caleb Williams was last year and all that good stuff, how checked out,
was but if he gets in the Ben Johnson ecosystem like that talent with with this it's going to be great whereas like with Kevin O'Connell we know that Kevin O'Connell's a good play caller but JJ McCarthy hasn't played a game in the NFL yet like he might look totally lost I just feel like like Kevin O'Connell like they took Josh Dobbs like literally off the plane like I literally like took the took a shuttle to the airport right to the stadium and he played winning football for him I just feel I feel I feel good about JJ McCorm
You're like, you know, relatively good about J.J. McCarthy coming into the year.
As an Eagles fan, you probably want the Vikings to look just okay with J.J. McCarthy and you want the Bears to look pretty good.
Like, you want this NFC North to just turn into a complete slug fest to keep the Packers from being like a runaway actual contender for the number one seed.
Good point.
Good point.
All right.
That'll do it for this episode of the P.H.L.Y. Eagles podcast presented by Bet365 and Ashley.
We will be back tomorrow, 2 o'clock.
exciting day tomorrow at PHLY leading into Wednesday.
So stay tuned for that, why that would be the case.
Otherwise, thank you, Julia.
Thanks, everybody for watching and listening.
And a super chat.
As always, we love you.
Oh, Jubias.
We go all silly like the mayor.
