How you doing EJ? I'm doing well a little bit tight in this collar situation here
But you just try to follow your baiting between whether to go one button or two and you told me to go unbuttoned
Well I thought you were asking about the middle button so instead we've gone all the way buttoned up for the first segment
I don't I've never been a I've never been a I've never been a
all the way button thing unless I mean unless I'm wearing a tie or something.
Yeah, but I don't know who would button the top button of a polo specifically.
It's a little bit of an interesting look, but yeah, trying to have some fun on this Monday morning.
Yeah.
And I think maybe every segment I'll unbutton a button.
How about every 40 minutes you unbutton a button?
What are we going to do a two-hour show?
After about 90 minutes in, I think I'll be leaving and then most others would probably.
Let's give the people what they want.
What people want that specifically?
Everybody.
That's a different breed of sicko right there that wants this to get to the two hour mark with your...
If they're going to super chat, if they're going to be diehards, if they're going to subscribe,
you can get all the skin you need.
All right.
I am going to know, I'm going to...
Taking it off?
Yeah.
No, the viewers don't have to worry.
There's not a lot of room for this to go for me.
So we should be fine.
It's only, really, it's one more button that I could get, I could get, I could unbutton.
by the end of the show.
I mean, listen, I feel silly, but you know what?
We're hanging.
It's going to be fun.
And I am, I'm going to hold true to my word.
Okay.
We had two emergency podcasts yesterday, E.J., which you can watch on P.H.O.I.
With Fran Duffy for one of them, you and I talked about the Sam Howell trade.
All three of us talked about the Fred Johnson trade.
And we didn't get a chance to talk about the Darien-Kinnard trade.
So let's talk about the Ford Drive of Ford.
the game, which is going to be somebody in the Eagles front office driving Dary and Kinnard to the airport.
What did you make of the sequence of events, not just the Dary and Kinnar trade, but all of the
offensive line moves they made yesterday? And then we can get to some of the moves that have
already been reported today. Well, when you consider the fact that the Eagles value future picks
a little bit more highly than other franchises, organizations, the fact that they got rid of a
seventh round pick in this year's draft in to get fred johnson they traded a seventh round pick in
this year's draft to get fred johnson and then traded a sixth round pick in next year's draft or sorry
received a six round pick in next year's draft to in exchange for darian canard i feel like a better
pick and the player they like better exactly they improve their draft war chest and they also
improve their offensive line it's rare that you find opportunities like that again is the fred
johnson evaluation informed by his performances under jeff stoutland
Sure, but again, it's hard to argue with the moves that they made.
Again, the succession of them, they improve the offensive line, and they also improve their draft capital.
It's hard.
It's really hard to fault them for that one.
Well, also, I mean, just the turning of profit on Darren Kinnard, who they signed as a futures player after he was on the Chiefs practice squad.
Yeah.
They keep him around for a year, and then they turned him into a sixth round pick.
Like, that's spinning, you know, like replacement level guys into gold.
Yeah, and at this rate, they'll bring him back six months from now.
Right.
They'll have him too.
Now, do you think if you were Brian Gutikunst, it is worth a six-round pick just in case you're covering yourself for the possibility that Darren Kinnard is, in fact, guaranteed to win a Super Bowl every time he's on a roster.
There is some good juju that's heading out.
Now, we talked about Fred Johnson.
Gu-goot, good, good, good.
We talked about Fred Johnson.
Do not laugh at that, Julia.
Yeah, I, listen, I'm trying to sell your joke.
I'm new here. I don't want to, I don't want to just completely go with the no cell quite yet.
But, uh, but yeah, I feel like there is some good vibes that leave with Dary and Kinnard.
He is also an Eagle social superstar. But yeah, Fred Johnson kind of does replace some of that for
sure. Uh, I believe Mark Murphy is going to pick Kinnard up at the airport, but tell me about the
course. Tell me everything you know. He's going to try to get all the secrets. Yeah.
Trying to infiltrate. Six round pick is worth it. Yeah. I mean, I don't know about you, but I really,
I feel like the jump from Darien Kinnard to Fred Johnson as a swing tackle, especially.
Obviously, Fred Johnson doesn't really have that guard versatility, at least not with the Eagles.
We haven't seen it.
He's played there in his career, but again, not very much.
I feel like the jump is significant.
I mean, if you are an Eagles fan, you feel so much better about the depth of the offensive
line than you did 24 hours ago.
Yeah.
The addition of Fred Johnson and, you know, maybe people around the league would be like,
why are you making such a big deal out of Fred Johnson?
And that's fair.
but there is a known quantity, and we have talked about, like, the backup offensive line here,
you were worried about it.
And you have guys all over the offensive line who miss time all the time.
And so to have Fred Johnson, who you know can play both sides,
you now have presumably Fred Johnson and Matt Pryor.
And I'm guessing Drew Kendall as the backups on game day.
Those will be the three active guys.
We'll get to Brett Tooth in a minute.
but you feel good.
Yeah, you're covered now.
Whereas before you had Fred Johnson, you're like, okay, well, maybe Matt Prairie can play
right tackle, but like who's going to play left tackle?
Like, can Carr do it?
You just, like, you feel so good.
And as we talked about it on the emergency pod yesterday, I feel like this was good business
by the Eagles.
They canvassed the scene, realized that they didn't feel good about it,
and so they went back and got the guy who they did feel good about.
Yeah, well, two things I was thinking about is like, first, if you're,
if you're the Packers, if you're Brian Gutikunst or Marks.
Do you, like, you almost feel like they're going to look up at the business the Eagles did yesterday and go,
well, hang on, Fred Johnson was available.
Why would we?
I feel like how we must have had the Knard trade agreed to before the Fred Johnson was announced.
Yeah, because, you know, not to steal an, I was thinking the same thing.
Not to steal like a soccer transfer window thing here, but like, you know, you almost wonder about the hijack in that scenario.
It's like, wait a second.
Like if Fred Johnson's available, he literally, I mean, I don't know who's evaluated.
I don't know what the evaluation is that would lead you to Dary and Kinar instead of Fred Johnson.
Just like I'm really still surprised.
Well, I mean, if you think you can play guard and...
Yeah, but I don't know.
And the reason why we value this swing tackle thing, because, you know, we have spent some time in the last week in the weeds of some of the more, the finer parts of the Eagles roster, on the margins, depth positions.
But the Eagles, like, it's fundamental to how they play offense that they have these bookend tackles.
Like, it is not always...
I've talked to players about this over the years.
It's not the easiest system to just throw a guy in.
You know, they don't have a lot of,
they don't often help their tackles as much as most teams do.
They don't have,
correct help.
They don't have,
you know,
those guys are on an island a lot of the time.
So having someone like Fred Johnson who like,
I remember that game against the Bengals last year where he was,
I mean,
was he on an island the whole game?
No,
but he did have some tough assignments against a good edge rusher and Trey Hendrickson.
And he played well.
So,
very well,
yeah,
exactly.
So there is a proof of concept
there that they did not have before.
And yeah, I don't, I know we spent a lot of time talking about it, but I don't think we
overstayed it because of knowing this team and what they need at that position.
Fran Duffy checks in the chat to say that the Packers value guys who have tackle guard
flex more than just straight offensive tactics.
Okay.
So that's it then.
Yeah.
So Fred Johnson, maybe they knew he was available.
Or he's just making that up.
I mean, just because he says it doesn't mean it's true.
Oh, no.
Come on.
This is Fran Duffy we're talking about.
This is.
He's flexing.
Because he said Kinard was probably on the way out after the Fred Johnson trade.
Yeah, that's a good call.
It's not as good as predicting the Eagles would trade for Fred Johnson, but it's a good call.
So I woke up yesterday morning and I'm thinking about like Kenyon Green and if the Eagles are going to be stubborn in their evaluation.
And we can talk about that in a second.
And this morning I'm thinking, yeah, that was a good point.
Like Darian Kinard is like what you hope or Matt Pryor is like what you hope Dary and Carnard grows into.
That was strong from Fran.
That was some good emergency potting right there.
There you go.
Well, okay.
Good job on the Ford drive of the game.
Goodbye to Darren Kinnard.
We do have a few cuts trickling in here, E.J.
What can you fill me in on in that front?
Yeah, so we are starting to get some names here.
Kyle McCord, Kenyon Green, I think,
Montreal Johnson.
Yeah, Keelan Robinson.
Nick Hughes, E.J. Jenkins.
Montreal Johnson? I didn't see that one.
I thought I saw Montreal Johnson.
Oh, I haven't seen that one yet.
Let me make sure.
That would be the first one.
We're like, oh, okay.
I thought there was a chance he would.
make the team. E.J. Jenkins didn't do that to you?
You know what? I like E.J. Jenkins.
But I did think that
he was not going to make the team. According to
our friend Elliot Shore Parks, Montrell Johnson
was waived. Interesting.
I mean, speaking of our friends, by the way.
I just want to go on the record
here and say
that listeners
to this show should
know that
quoting Steve Adazio
in an article
is cancelable.
and so if you feel the need to
relieve yourself of any subscriptions you might have
for any companies that are quoting Steve Adazio
in a positive light in an article,
you have my blessing.
And I will do the same,
Steve Adosio.
Unless the quote is,
oh my God, I'm falling from a building.
Why did you push me?
I don't want to hear the quote.
I just had to unbut another button here.
It's getting a little hot.
Just saying,
that people know how we feel.
I got your back, Fran.
Okay.
Next.
We're going to get into our final 53 men roster predictions.
But let's talk about Howie here
because he has made three trades over the past.
24 hours.
It doesn't feel like he's done.
It doesn't.
Right?
Yeah, especially,
I mean,
we talked about it on the emergency pod
that the logic behind some of these trades
is the Eagles order and the waiver wire.
If they want opportunities
at some of these players
who maybe won't make other teams,
53 men rosters that would be upgrades for them.
Making trades with day three picks
is the way to do it.
They have the capital to do it.
And it's a way for them to kind of jump the line
before those guys hit the waiver wire.
And obviously teams would love to get something
for some of these guys
as well. So I think there are position groups that are still left because it's like, it's funny.
You know, we spent a lot of time talking about the offensive line depth and we spent a lot of time
talking about, um, now I'm completely blanking.
Football.
Yeah, we talk about football a lot.
Okay.
We talked about the offensive line depth a lot.
Oh, and we talked about the third quarterback spot a lot.
Yes, yes.
Um, and they've addressed those two things since then.
So I'm starting to think, okay, what other, you know, things where it feels like champagne
problems maybe, but it really is.
It's just depth.
Yeah.
It's just a matter of building the.
best 53 you can and there are some spots that I still feel like if they addressed it it would make
it would make sense given what we saw this summer okay so I think to me three come to mind what is number
one for you I mean number one is edge obviously the edge group you feel okay about those top two guys
maybe you can talk yourself into a joshu Shea or an aziz ojolari but I do think it's less of a thing
about the summer where we watched it and we feel like they need to add that at that position necessarily
it's more like week seven, week 10, as we get closer to the playoffs, you want to have three or four guys that you feel good about, especially with injuries in consideration, being able to rush with a four man rush or a five man rush, being able to rush without sending extra blitzers or extra pressure.
I feel like that is going to be really important against the best quarterbacks and in the games, Eagles want to win.
So I think if they could shore up the depth at that position, it would make a lot of sense.
And then from there, I probably skip down.
Let's stay on edge for a second.
because that is the one place where I could see them making a significant addition.
You know, giving up third, fourth round pick capital.
And it's it's multifold because it's, listen, it would be great if you could add a guy
who's a starting caliber player.
And then between that person, Nolan Smith and Jalick's Hunt, you've got three guys for all the snaps you need.
They're going to play a lot, but you feel really, really good about that group.
It's also like, listen, Nolan Smith might be injury prone.
Yeah.
Jalick Hunt has to prove he can stay healthy.
Azizzo Jalari has never stayed healthy.
Josh Ushey is undersized and might not be able, like, they need bodies there.
Yeah.
And so I could see additions on multiple fronts there.
It's also a position where, in theory, now the Eagles have, this has backfired for the Eagles in the past.
You think about Robert Quinn, even Charles Harrison last year.
But in theory, it's an easy transition.
Yeah.
If you rush the edge here, you can rush the edge here.
But that hasn't always worked out in the past.
but I think it's where the projection should be easier.
Yeah, and you know, it is more of a less,
there are fewer strings attached at that position to your point.
You know, you don't have to know the ins and outs of a scheme necessarily.
But yeah, you're right.
Their track record of adding those edge guys has not been great.
You know, it has not been as seamless as you might imagine.
But I do, I agree with you.
I think that they need to add to that rotation.
I don't know if like they'll be in the, in the market for like some of the bigger name guys
just because of how inherently expensive they will be.
you think about how many young defensive players they have coming up on extensions in the near future.
But again, I think if you could add somebody with some theoretical upside,
it would make me feel a lot better about that group going into the season.
Okay.
What was number two on your list?
I think we disagree on this.
I think that the third tight end spot is actually an interesting one.
You know, just...
Because I know that you probably prefer the third spot that we're talking or the other spot.
No, I think tight end is absolutely something that they would get.
Yeah, it's just like when you look at the player, especially E.J. Jenkins,
kind of out of the picture now, you'd feel like it's Kyle and Granson.
At least I think we would agree that we feel like
Kyle and Granson is that third tight end on the initial 53.
If you told me that they found somebody
who can do a little bit more of that dirty work,
be that inline blocking tight end,
I feel like that might be more,
just a more seamless fit for what they need to do offensively
than Kyle and Grants.
I don't know which player it would be.
I know that there will probably be some dirty work tight ends available
in the next few days.
And I think it would make sense,
from a fit from like what they want to do.
You know, if you want to come out in 12 personnel,
if you want that tight end alongside Dallas Goddard
or Grant Calcuttaire, if Dallas Goddard's injured,
that can do that job.
I feel like they don't really have that
available to them going into cut down day.
And I think they could address it after cut down day
or in the lead up with the trade.
I also think big picture on the roster,
Dallas Goddard's in the final year of his deal.
Yeah.
Grand Calcutter is in the final year of his deal.
It would be nice to have somebody on a rookie contract
so they don't have to, in theory,
turn over the entire.
position group in the off season. Now, you know, Calcuttaire may come back and maybe they draft
somebody, but I think from a big picture roster building standpoint, it's part of the reason I was
surprised they didn't sign an undrafted tight end this year. They had all these guys, but they were
all veterans. So I do think that they would like to add somebody like that. Yeah, I mean, and I just,
I don't see it really on the roster from what we've seen all summer. I haven't seen that.
So I think that that is a position. If they were to trade a day three pick for somebody, I'd be
I know you floated like Michael Mayer.
I don't know if it's that level,
but if you could find somebody that can do that job,
I think it would help them a lot.
Now, do you think that the Ben Van Sumeran of it all informs that at all?
Do you think like having a guy who theoretically can contribute some of those things
from a different alignment,
but still,
do you think that that kind of changes the calculus at all at that position?
I don't think that it should.
Okay.
I mean, if you're thinking about the special team snaps that he could theoretically provide,
that's fine.
but I don't think, I don't think it contributes there
and we will get to whether or not I have them on the roster.
Yeah, this is just a team that likes to do the like scheme agnostic.
We're just going to beat you up up front.
And they don't really have, they didn't even last year.
Obviously, you know, I, Grant Calcutera and CJ Usoma at times
like kind of tried to fill that role,
but they didn't have that guy who just like relishes that job.
And I think there are guys out there like that.
It seems like they'd be easier to find than the versatile multifaceted type in.
So I, it's a position I'm interested in keeping an eye on for the next few days for sure.
All right. And what is the last one for you?
It's returner. I think punt returner, especially we'll talk about Anias Smith, whether we have him on.
Maybe, you know, you view him as a returner, but he doesn't have tons of juice.
Like, I know he had a couple of good returns in the preseason, but.
He's also not that steady.
Like, you took that hit in the final preseason game.
He should have had the first punt return.
He can't be doing that.
Yeah, he's just like, he does have a little bit of that like Greg Ward to him that it's like,
you know he's going to catch the ball, but he doesn't always make the best decisions back.
there. And when he does get return opportunities, he isn't like electric to the point where it's
like, okay, this guy has a limited role in offense, but we know he's going to return punts
and he's going to give us value at that position. I'd be curious if they could find somebody.
You know, obviously like the Avery Williams experiment didn't work out. Could they go back
to the well for a player like that? Well, yeah, and signing Avery Williams in the first place
tells you it's something that they wanted and he didn't deliver it. Anywhere else, like, I think
they're done at corner. I rarely do.
They get their trade.
I could see a running back.
Sure.
We'll get to, you know, Montreal Johnson has already reportedly been waived.
I don't think that AJ Dylan needs to be on the roster.
So if there's a running back who popped for them based on preseason tape, that's what I
could see.
And that's, that's probably about it.
Yeah, it's just, it's funny.
Like, you know, I think it's important to point out, too, that these are champagne problems.
At this point, you know, going through the roster, it did feel like the last four or five guys,
you didn't feel great about them, not, especially those last two or three.
It's like, I don't have conviction on these players.
Did you appreciate at least that I hit send on the email to you last night at 1159?
I was asleep by the time you sent it if I'm being out of it.
Didn't you see the time when you woke up this morning?
I saw that it was in my inbox from like seven hours ago.
But I mean, I waited.
I waited like eight minutes so that I could send it exactly at 1159.
I'm glad you brought this up.
We can do this on the other side of the ad break if you want.
But I have got a bone to pick with you.
about the deadline.
What a tease, what a pro!
What a pro!
After this, we'll find out why EJ hates me

All right, back on the P.H.O.I. Eagle's podcast.
Oh, he's looking good.
Buttons off.
I'm surprised you made it 20 minutes with it with the button buttoned.
I was I was done after like four minutes.
Like I'm not going to commit to a bit.
That's true.
Everything I know about you.
Come on.
But that's why I'm a little bit worried about the cadence of the unbuttoning because I mean, I don't know.
So I'm still new here.
What do we have three segments?
Yeah.
So you're going to go two further.
No, one more further.
Okay.
This is the B block and the C block.
I'll go one more button on.
All right.
That I think we can matter.
I don't know, though.
Maybe there's bovertime.
No.
I don't know.
That's a spicy bovertime.
See, this is what I was worried about because you will commit to the bit.
There's no doubt how I'm doing it.
I'm not sure that you're as tan is our friend, Fran.
You know, I'm not sure you can hang with the Duffies when it comes to.
Only one way to find out.
When it comes to a uniform tan, that's an impressive tan that guy's guy's guy.
Okay.
What are you coming at me for here?
You gave me grief about the deadline for the beat, the King of the Beat's competition with
the Heat reporters.
we all make our 53 man roster predictions.
And the deadline, as recommended by my good friend, Jimmy Kemsky, was Sunday before
midnight.
And you said that was too late.
Yeah.
If we had done it before Sunday before midnight, I was getting amended rosters in my inbox
at like 1045.
And not like you, like being a troll, like bad faith, just like hitting send at 1159.
That's not bad faith.
Well, you know it was, you were committed to the bit as you are.
I mean, listen, it was it was 1110.
night and I am sitting there watching Miles Hinton film.
Like I'm watching this crazy like, am I going to use a spot on this guy?
This was me with Andre.
I'm doing the same thing with Antoine Powell Island.
Like this was, I'm like watching the like I've, you know, you gave me a deadline.
I'm going to use my time.
Well, I, you said it yourself.
There's probably a seven minute buffer where it's like.
Yeah.
Honestly, I waited like six minutes.
Yeah.
So you were committed to the bit.
It's okay.
You can be committed to the bit.
Yeah.
But the Sunday before mid.
night deadline saved the competition this year.
And I want you...
No, I don't agree with that because it's much more uniform.
I'm going to hold your feet to the fire on this one.
If you had done it Saturday at midnight, it really would have separated the wheat from the
channel.
No, it would not have.
Everybody, there's not going to be that much difference now.
It's too homogenous.
The listeners can agree with me on this one.
I know they will agree with me.
If we submitted it Saturday before midnight and everybody had Kyle McCord and they didn't have
Fred Johnson and they had Dary and Kinnard, all of a sudden, you're going to lose and then
you're going to come on the show and you're going to go, oh, well, the Saturday before midnight
deadline, all the trades.
This year was a, this was, this year was a sham, you know, it doesn't matter.
It's not, I don't recognize the new King of the Beats because, oh, I, it wasn't, it wasn't,
it wasn't, it wasn't a valid competition because of all the trades the Eagles made, you know,
invalidated everybody's roster prediction.
So I just want, when I was in charge, three years in a row, it was midnight the next day,
or he was maybe even noon after the day after the game.
Maybe this is why you were three-time champ
because you had some rules that catered to you?
To people who know ball.
What about knowing ball would have been,
oh, Dary and Garnart's going to get traded to the Packers?
And they're going to get Fred Johnson back.
Well, it's not that you predict who they're going to trade for it.
You predict that, like, oh, this guy's not actually in their plan.
Would you have had Kyle McCord on your 53
if we had done it 24 hours after the fact?
I can stand here today and say no.
Okay.
But I don't know if that's true.
That's what I'm saying.
I think, honestly, we can table it.
I know I won this debate.
I know that I won this one.
Please.
Outrageous.
Okay.
Let's get to it.
Let's get to our final roster projections.
Yours is on the site.
Mine is emailed to you.
We start at quarterback.
Flash those bad boys up.
Not a lot of difference here.
Jalen Hertz.
Tanner McKee.
Look at those graphics.
Oh, man.
Sam Howell.
Howell? How do you feel about your cartoon there?
Oh, they could have been a lot more, a lot meaner to me.
I think this was pretty kind.
So I'm happy.
You look great.
I don't.
I agree.
I'm saying.
I think that it's giving a bad news brown.
1980s wrestler, I feel.
I don't know bad news from now I need to look it up.
Did you just say it's giving?
Yeah, well, I said that jokingly.
Okay, I was going to say, is this like you're drippy?
I don't, yeah.
Bad, it's giving has never made sense.
to me.
Yeah.
Why not?
It's missing a word.
Let the kids have fun.
But it's not for us.
Let's be on.
Yeah, I mean, that's for sure.
This guy's got less hair than me, which is saying a lot.
But I could see it.
Kind of like, I'm not going to say it.
I'll say it after the pod.
What?
It looks a little bit like me and Chris Franklin had a baby.
I mean, maybe it's just the bald.
This guy's got Chris Franklin's beer.
Yeah, you know what?
But he's too, yeah, he's too bald.
I didn't.
Too bald.
Check him with me next year.
All right.
I don't think quarterback is that much of a surprise.
I mean,
the three are pretty chalk at this point.
Is there any,
any minuscule chance they also keep Kyle McCourt?
No,
he's already waived.
Oh,
that's right.
Yeah.
And even if,
even if,
even he wasn't,
what are we talking about
the Cleveland Browns here?
Karen four quarterbacks on your initial 53.
No.
Yeah.
Okay.
I feel validated,
by the way,
because I spent this whole summer telling you,
I just didn't buy in the Kyle McCord experiment.
Please.
You know?
And also let me say this is my last.
TTR.
This is the last thing I'm going to say.
The fucking relationship.
Here it is.
This is me to find the relationship with DTR.
I want the listeners to know this.
I'm going to look at the camera and I'm going to warn you right now.
I have a type of quarterback and Doreen Thompson Robinson is not far away from that type.
I like traitsy guys.
I like, you know, listen, processing, accuracy.
You teach them that when they get that.
That's what the money's for.
quarterback's coaches across America.
So, yeah, I will admit that I was wrong about DTR, but also right about Kyle McCord.
We'll see.
Okay.
Running back.
And I think we, this is, this is a place where we do have a disagreement.
We both got Sequin Barclay.
We both got Will Shipley.
We've both got A.J. Dillon.
Now, I don't, I am not still fully convinced that A.J. Dillon is going to make this team.
But, yeah.
know, they care about, uh, this needs to be a run first team right now.
Saquan goes down.
Dylan offers you something that Will Shipley probably doesn't.
Okay.
I'm willing to get there.
But you have another one.
If you count Ben Van Sumer in with the running backs,
I know that Fran might consider him more a bar to the tight ends,
but we're going to put him in the room that he's going to be in.
He said he's in the running backs room.
I have Ben Van Van Sumeran on because he offers value as a special team's contributor.
while also giving you the wrinkle of being a fullback
for a few snaps per game.
I think that there is some minimal.
So is this a Dallas Goddard comment?
Yes.
Listen, wait, I am Black Dallas Gutter?
No, no, they're just the cartoon.
They're saying the cartoon looks like Black Dallas Gutter.
No, Dallas Goward actually, no, we are completely off the rails here,
but honestly, this is good to talk about.
Dallas Goward and I both have the hair problem that like it kind of will blow
round in the wind. So I do actually think my current aesthetic might have some similarities to Dallas
Goddard. The graphic, he's got more hair than that. Not always. Yeah. I saw that's black Dallas
Goddard. I had to hold back laugh. I mean, listen, that's who the Eagles should be signing.
That's trade for that guy. Black Dallas Goddard? Yeah. I want to ask Fran this next time he's here.
Is Dallas Goddard as good as a run blocker as he's all as he used to be? I feel like he's a
little bit smaller.
Danes hasn't even come on the show yet this, this summer.
He's got to make his debut and you're already going to give him that arm?
You're going to arm him with...
You think Dallas Goddard stinks since I'll say, Guant Parkley?
I don't think he stinks.
I just don't think that he's quite the run blocker he used to be.
But Fran would know better than me.
I'm going to defer to Fran.
Okay.
All right.
So Ben Van Sternbrun, go ahead.
Make your case.
Yeah, I mean...
You just, you think they're really going to do this full back stuff.
I feel like you just hate Ben Van Zerberman.
I think you wonderful guy I've beautiful eyes I never thought about his his eyes before but oh come on I mean
he's yeah yeah you know I've got curly lashes yeah okay no you're not seeing it they're nice
wow not Ben Van Sumer no BBS okay all right fair I feel like you were just against like the
concept of a Ben Van Sumer in a little bit here's what I'm against and and I was really thinking about
and I am happy to be on this side of history because I was
really thinking about it last night. Here's why I don't think they're going to keep Ben Van
Saman Sumer. Who is claiming him? If you are a team who wants a fullback, you've got a better
fullback. You already have one in camp. If you are a team that doesn't want a fullback,
you don't need Ben Van Van Sumeran. So for the two plays a game, you want to have Ben Van Van
San Surman on offense for, you can promote him from the practice squad. You can also bring him up
to the active roster in week, whatever, if you really need it.
him when you've, you know, used all of his.
Look at that, Julia getting that up right away.
I mean, fantastic, Julia, as I, look at these eyes right here.
There they are.
Nice job, buddy.
That was, nice job, buddy.
They don't need to use the roster spot on him.
Yeah.
If you're thinking about how do we fit 53 guys on here, no one's going to claim him.
And it's not like he's got a long-term rookie contract.
This is the final year of his, of his rookie.
deal. I also think there are other special teams, like, you know, we'll get to it, but I have Patrick
Johnson on. I don't feel great about that, but I think he's a better special teams player than
Ben Van Sumer. I just, I don't, I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. They don't need to use a roster
spot on him. I agree with you that you can play that game with Ben Van Sumeran, but you can play
that game with a lot of guys on the roster. You can play that game with AJ Dylan. I mean,
no, everybody needs a running back. There are only so many teams in the NFL.
who want a fullback and they all already have fullbacks.
Yeah, no, I listen, if he's not on the roster,
he would probably still get called up in week one against the Cowboys.
So I understand that rationale.
I decided not to play that game with him
because I did not feel like there was another spot on the roster
that I was really struggling to get someone on
to say, okay, let me borrow from the Ben Van Sumer
and roster spot here.
Like, there are a lot of opportunities to do that on this roster.
I hear what you're saying,
but like I feel like A.J. Dillon, I mean, I played this game at wide receivers.
We'll get to that in a second.
Like, I just feel like I played that game with a few guys.
I didn't think, I thought Ben Van Zerman, like, I think the value he offers on special teams and generally like, again, there's the wrinkle, the added element of having him.
Maybe they won't use him very much.
But I think, I think he just, I think he just deserves a roster spot in a year where their 53 is not overwhelmingly convincing.
Okay.
The bottom of their 53 is not overwhelmingly convincing.
should say the topic it's very convincing tight end we we totally agree i believe
dallas got our karenkalkitara and kylan granson for now so we shake hands there we can move
on to a wide receiver where we do have another difference this is the flip side to the
ben van sumer and we've got the same top five hey j brown devante smith jhan dants
darius cooper and john mecci now this was probably one of my last one or two spots
and ultimately, I don't feel great about it,
but I did keep Anaya Smith on the roster,
and I will tell you why.
A few reasons.
I have them getting rid of Trevor Keegan.
You know, they stupidly lost Dylan McMahon last year.
So you were, the idea of them getting rid of all of the guys
from last year's day three draft class,
they carried Anias last year when he wasn't very good in the summer.
He was obviously better this summer.
I'm not so sure that he's, even if they keep him,
he's going to be the punt returner or active on game day.
But I think when I was getting down to who do they care about potentially keeping in the building if a guy gets claimed,
it was like, you know, I can pull it up.
It was between him and Kegan and, you know, Cameron Williams or Miles Hinton.
and I ultimately did, I think they'd just like a Nia Smith just enough.
So I don't feel great about it.
This is where we differ a little bit in our philosophy when building our 53 man
roster predictions.
And as everyone can tell, Bo and I take this very seriously, we're both very competitive
and there's a lot of pride on the line here.
And when I'm putting my pride on the line, I've decided that I'm going to put it on players
that I actually believe in.
I've decided that I'm going to put it on players that I,
can understand and see something with in training camp.
But I'm not going to sit here and say that Anaya Smith did not have some good moments in the
preseason.
Obviously, he caught two touchdown passes.
He had a few practices where he looked solid.
But I just like asked myself by the end of the day yesterday, am I going to lose this
competition by putting Anaya Smith on my 53?
And there's another player that we'll talk about that fell under that category.
And I just decided I wasn't convinced with that case.
If I'm going to lose, and it's because they rostered.
anias Smith over someone like Ben Van Sumeran.
Yeah, well, I feel much more firm in my belief that Van Sumeran doesn't deserve a
spot than I am that.
The logic behind it, I will acknowledge make sense.
But again, for me, it just comes down to like, if you're putting together the 53 guys
that earned a roster spot this summer, I just didn't have Anaya Smith on the right side
of that.
I think he's exactly a type of player that's not going to, I mean, I would not expect him to
get claimed on waivers. I would expect him to be, I mean, like, if you're arguing, like,
he's got value as a returner, so he should be a game day call up, like, Britain Covey started the season
on practice squad, multiple years. Like, that is a realistic thing you can do, and it makes sense. And
Britt and Covey had more value as a punt returner than Ania Smith currently does. So I had him off,
again, I just didn't feel like he showed enough, even like the drops against the jets, you know,
the one, the one mistake on the punt return. He just had a, a few too many hiccups to, you know,
make up for the fact that he is very limited in what he can do in terms of a wide receiver
Amigo's offense he can only play slot you're really you're only going to get him the
ball on gadget type plays I just didn't I wasn't convinced by the case he would be able to
make I think he's better off probably sneaking him onto the practice squad now do you think
there's any chance that John Metchie doesn't make the team it just feels like he didn't
have enough time to lose the spot yeah you know they traded for him it's like why
expend the draft capital after watching in practice for like and seeing Johnny Wilson get
injured exactly yeah
You know, if Johnny Wilson were still a factor in here, like, that would make this a lot more difficult.
I actually feel like by the end, the wide receiver picks were not as hard as I expected them to be.
Okay.
All right.
Time for our next break on the other side.
We will talk about the offensive line and then all of the defense, including a group for which the future is bright.

doing the ad read and seeing you unbutton a button on your shirt in the periphery
I then rebuttoned because it has to be part of the segment
I was like what is going on with Bo's shirt over there
there we go give the people what they want
talk about never ordinary
okay
offensive line time
I think we have this same here surprisingly
I think we're going to be wrong
I think this is where we're going to be wrong
Jordan Milata, Landon Dickerson,
Cam Juergens, Tyler Steen, Lane Johnson,
the starting five.
Fred Johnson is on this team.
Drew Kendall is on this team.
Matt Pryor?
Probably on this team.
And then we both have 10 in total.
We both have Miles Hinton,
the late round pick from Michigan by way of Stanford.
And we both have Brett Tooth.
Brett Tooth is the one that really,
I was waffling back and forth all last night.
and the reason that I
chose to keep him
is maybe
I'm going in circles a little bit
but when they trade for Fred Johnson
I take that as okay
this is Howie telling Stout
I cannot keep Brett Tooth
I'm going to be able to keep him in the building
I promise you but I will get you one of your guys
anyway I will get you Fred Johnson
now we can all we can all be happy
but two things I just
one thing I couldn't get over
and then one thing that made me think
like maybe this is a Howie next level thing.
I just, I cannot get over the fact
that Lyndon Dickerson's status for week one
is in doubt.
It's in some degree of doubt.
And if the plan really was going to be
Matt Pryor starts there
if Dickerson's not ready,
we would have seen it at some point, right?
Yeah.
Tooth took every single rep.
Stout cares about those guys moving together.
in the same way.
And if Toth got all those reps,
I believe, I believe it.
I think I have to.
Now listen, Toth was on the active roster
in the playoffs.
He was active for the Super Bowl.
So it's not like he's just some
afterthought guy for them.
I do think you're able to keep him in the building.
And that's why I use my, like,
this is my last spot on him.
Because if you think about the order of operations
for what they might want to do
after the 53 men roster deadline.
You claim a guy.
You claim a guy,
you got to cut a guy.
And if you cut somebody
who is like a Miles Hinton
or is like a,
not Darius Cooper,
but an undrafted rookie,
you are now signaling to the league
that you thought this guy
was worthy of a roster spot
until he wasn't.
And so that's going to make that guy
much more likely to be claimed.
Whereas if you claim someone
and you cut Brett Tooth,
the league's like, oh, well, we already knew about Brett Tooth.
We already know that's a guy who stays in Philly.
I think he's a guy who they would like to keep in the building,
but is capable of being cut on Wednesday and still back on Friday.
Yeah, I think that's well said.
I had him on.
Do you buy this at all?
Like, when Darien Kinnard was still in contention for that,
one of those final spots,
I felt like there was at least the possibility that Darien
Kinnard could slot in at that left guard spot.
We saw him a little bit in that spot.
And the second that they traded him, it's funny.
Like I put Fred Johnson and Darry and Kinnard's spot on my offensive line.
And at that point, I had nine guys.
And then the more I stared at it, I'm like, I feel like Brett Tooth makes it now.
I feel like it's so close that this tiny difference between Darian Kinnard's guard
versatility compared to Fred Johnson's was enough for me to rationalize putting him on.
I think your point is a good one, though.
like he is exactly the type of player
that you could stash on a practice squad
like obviously he could get claimed
but realistically like
I mean he's been around the Eagles for a long time
he's talked about his experience getting claimed before
and how it did not go when he went to the Panthers
yeah he went to the Panthers and he said it did not go
great for him and he realized how much he valued
the Eagles offensive line room so obviously it's not something
he really can control right but like yeah
I think he is a type of guy you should be able to stash
but I'll be honest, Bo.
How many guys are you going to sit here and say,
I'm going to put them on the practice squad
and call them up week one?
Because at some point,
you're going to run out of those spots.
So, I mean,
if you're going to do it with Ben Van Sumer,
and Red So if,
if that's what they did with him,
I don't think he would be called up for games.
Yeah, and then you've got three guys already.
Fred Johnson, Matt Pryor and Drew Kendall.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah, no, you could talk me into that,
but that's if Landon Dickerson's healthy, I feel like.
Right.
It's a big if.
Well, maybe not a big if, but it isn't if.
We should also talk about Miles Hinton.
Yeah.
You think he's, I don't feel great about him making this team.
I mean, I don't feel great about it either, but I feel like that last spot is usually saved for a developmental player.
And I think if you're picking a developmental player from the group of tackles, young tackles that we saw this summer, he's for this long.
I mean, you watch this tape yesterday.
I feel like he had a pretty solid, find a preseason finale.
You're not buying it?
No, I was a little disappointed.
I feel like he, there are flashes with him.
I don't think he's a complete product by the stretch of imagining.
But I think if you told me like pick one guy to you know turn up this time next season next like next training camp and see how he looks I think Miles Hinton is the one that you'd bet on
Well, it's tough because I mean Hinton is older than Cameron Williams right and so you think that he is he is a little bit closer to his final product
But I just I mean I never really saw with Cameron Williams
Because it wasn't just the penalties and the negative stuff I never I never saw the good stuff yeah really I
I could, I still, I wouldn't, it wouldn't shock me if they kept him instead.
With Hinton, it's like, if you're using a roster spot here, we've talked about there's nobody who needs these roster spots.
You've got Drew Kendall.
You've got Tyler Stainland on the last year of his rookie deal.
That's it.
So just the idea of keeping a guy here.
And I also really considered Trevor Keegan.
Hmm. I consider somebody too, but it wasn't.
I know he didn't have a great summer, but there is theoretical position.
position flex that he can play three positions.
I think it's possible that they keep him instead of hinting.
Kenyon Green was the one that I woke up and the first thought in my head was,
is Kenyon Green going to sneak onto this 53-man roster after a very underwhelming summer?
Obviously, that's not in play now.
But I just, in the back of my head, I'm thinking like the Alberto-Equibunum situation.
Like, is there like a, because you saw it today, you know, as he got waived or reports that he got waived
came out that like everyone's reflecting on the CJ Gardner Johnson trade and basically how it
you know amounted to very little uh you know I guess John Mechie is the last thing standing at this point
right and it's like I don't know I could I could have seen a world where Hallie Roseman is talking
about this guy still has athletic traits in his body as you and him both like to talk about I've
never got on board with the in his body talk you know it just seems sounds a little sounds a little
weird to me not in like a well no it sounds weird like an inanimate
object or something is in his body.
Right.
It's not weird to you from a sexual standpoint.
It's weird from like a frankestine.
Yeah.
When I said that, it sounded like kind of problematic.
So I wanted to clear that up.
But no, I feel like there was a world where Kenyon Green, I feel like there may be, maybe
in the past, how he Rose and would have tried to sneak him on in 53.
Maybe this is, you know, a reflection on some roster decisions of the past.
But yeah, he was the one that I was a little bit worried about.
There were, as the, you know, the person who has been fielding all of the 53-man rosters,
he was a little bit of a roster buster for a few people who I think had the same thought as me.
Roster buster is a great term.
Yeah, I love that.
This is kind of similar to the NCAA bracket, isn't it?
Like, you know, it's kind of like a pool at work.
We're all trying to win.
So, yeah, Kenyon Green, I did think was a little bit tricky.
I struggled with him.
All right.
Let's go to the defensive side of the ball.
And within that, let's talk about the shady rays future is bright, because we're going to
right to the one position group that I think the Eagles feel best about, and I think everybody's
going to probably have the same projected roster, and that is linebacker.
Yeah.
Nicopi Dean probably goes on Pupp.
Jahad Campbell, Zach Bond, Jeremiah Trouto Jr., Smile Mondin, and that's probably it, right?
Yeah, I feel like Dallas Gann and Lance Dixon in particular.
Yeah, you could convince me that those guys get the 53rd spot.
I don't think it's crazy.
I think Fran is on the right track with the Landstixon hiding thing.
I was surprised to see how long it took for him to get into the game.
And it does kind of feel like he would be, I mean, he'd be another one.
If you end up on the practice squad, I could see him getting called up for special teams duty.
I was going to say that Dallas Gant and Lance Dixon are both kind of like unlucky.
If they had, if they had joined the Eagles last year.
Two or three years ago, they probably would have had a roster spot.
And they might have been contending for some real role in a Jim Schwartz defense or even a Jonathan Gannon defense at times.
So, yeah, those guys, they had good summers.
I think that they're interesting players.
But yeah, they're just kind of locked out by this being, surprisingly a very deep room at this point.
And would you say the future is bright for them?
The best you've ever felt about the linebackers since your team cover, time covering the team?
Yeah, this is year seven for me.
And honestly, it's not really close.
I mean, I can't think of another group that would even rival this one.
What do you think?
There are a lot of people who are like, what happens when the Kobe Dean gets back?
How are they going to play free guys at the same time?
is Jahad Campbell going to move to the edge?
Is this on your radar at all?
Are you worried about it at all?
I mean, no, I think that it's Zach Bonn and Jihad Campbell.
I think it's unfortunate for Nekobie Dean
because he played pretty well, I mean, he played well last season.
Yeah, I don't want to diminish what he did last season.
I think kind of similarly to like, obviously there are levels here.
Like I'm not comparing them at the same level,
but it is similar in that when Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
was with the ones this summer, there were instances where it's like,
there's not really much more he could have done.
he just has physical limitations in that role.
And Nekobi Dean obviously doesn't have those as extreme,
but when you're comparing him to Jihad Campbell,
especially if Jihad Campbell hits the ground running in the regular season,
the way he did in the summer,
it's hard to imagine a world where Nekobie Dean can offer
as much as Jihad Campbell just physically.
So maybe if the Eagles defense needs like that general,
that middle of the field presence that Nekobie Dean can offer,
maybe you can talk me into him having a role.
And maybe there is a world where Jihad Campbell now graduates into more
of a hybrid role, but I could also see a world where it's just Zach Bonn and Jehad Campbell being
mirrored, versatile, rangy offball linebackers that are fundamental to what the Eagles do defensively.
I also kind of think, like, it will sort itself out from, like, if Jehad Campbell's really good,
then they can soft play Nekobie Dean back and they don't need them. If Jihad Campbell is struggling,
then they can put Nukobo Dine on the field. It's kind of, it'll be fine. Yeah, I definitely,
there's a component to this where it's like, we will see what it looks like.
when he comes back.
But I do think that both of those things are in play where there's one world where it's like,
listen, like, we're getting really high-level linebacker play from these two.
We're not messing with that, even though he's 100% and ready to play.
And maybe he has a smaller role.
And I don't know, it is a shame for him because he played so well.
And he's a likable guy too.
I think that there is some of that there as well.
But at the same, and he's a leader for the team in a certain way.
So it's going to be interesting.
But yeah, I think that it is going to let's see how the regular season plays out and see what
ends up what it looks like for Nikobe D.
All right, let's go back to the line of scrimmage, the edge.
And this one where, this will be a difference between some of the other beats, but we've,
we've got the same one here.
Yeah.
We've got Nolan Smith, Jalick Hunt, Azizzo Jalari, Josh Ushay, and Patrick Johnson.
Make the case for Patrick Johnson.
He's a guy.
Good job on these graphics.
Yeah, these look great.
Yeah.
Fantastic.
He is a guy who also offers special teams value.
I think he can offer some early down.
just like toughness. I mean, he's not necessarily the biggest guy, but I feel like you can use him for some of the dirty work as well.
And really, it's more of a reflection on like the fact they're not very deep at that position that he kind of, like I thought about going really lighted edge rusher.
I thought about starting with four and going from there, like assuming they were going to add after cut down day.
Okay. Yeah.
But then I kind of realized that five is light for them. I mean, they usually have six. So I think Patrick Johnson gets on for that reason.
I do want to mention that did you see that Fran had Agbo Acheronkwo on there?
No, I didn't.
I find that intriguing.
I was going to ask you.
I think there's a chance.
Yeah, I think so too.
He had a good summer.
He was intriguing.
Kind of wanted to sneak him on.
I think Fran's rationale was a good one, which is that he is kind of the placeholder for the
trade.
He is kind of,
now I apologize because you just mentioned that there was, oh, Brett Tooth.
He's kind of the Brett Tooth of this side of the ball where it's like you could have
him on for a few days.
You probably do that with Patrick Johnson, though, wouldn't you?
Patrick Johnson might be the same.
Yeah, but I also think you could bring,
I think with Ogbo, you can bring him back.
Yeah, I don't think you're going to lose him.
He didn't sign with them until the day of first day of camp or whatever.
So I feel like there's some real potential for movement.
Like we talked about it earlier in the show.
And whether it's Patrick Johnson or Ogbo,
I think one of those two guys could be sort of the stand-in for that roster spot.
And any chance that they trade or cut OJolari?
I feel like,
I mean, listen, he didn't have the most convincing summer.
I just, I don't, I don't know where they're going to find somebody else that they can rotate.
I mean, unless they just want to go really young at that position,
it wouldn't shock me based off the summary he had,
but it also kind of feels like he did just enough to justify the roster spot.
Okay.
Defensive tackle.
Heavy.
Jalen Carter.
Jordan Davis.
Morrow Ojima.
Ty Robinson.
Gabe Hall.
and Byron Young.
We've got all six making it, both of us.
Now our order is different.
I always love reading people's order
to kind of see how they feel about the players.
Did you notice what I did in the one I sent you?
Where you, wait,
that you had the defensive tackles like way below everybody else?
Nope.
Let me see if I can pull up the email.
Okay.
Go ahead and explain your...
Yeah, so I had Gabe Hall ahead of Ty Robinson in my list
because I think that is how I view the two of them right now.
They're both going to play,
but I just, you know,
Gabe Hall has really...
He had a good summer.
So, but yeah, I think we have the same ones.
Byron Young, I think it's probably my 53rd player.
I think he just snuck on.
Maybe I am overweighting, like Vic Fangio mentions in his press conferences,
but he is usually a reliable narrator.
And yes, he has gone out of his way to shout out Byron Young.
And he has some of that nose tackle versatility and value.
So I do think that he could play a role on game day at the very least where you wouldn't,
you wouldn't necessarily, it wouldn't be like a waste of a roster spot.
So I felt good about him as my 53rd guy.
Again, it's kind of like you're scraping at the bottom of the barrel anyway.
If you're telling me that you can get a guy who can fill some of those early down snaps.
And I think I think part of it is I think Ty Robinson is not quite as ready for week one as they might have hoped.
Yeah, I think that's fair.
Although Gabe Hall, I think was more capable of filling those snaps than we expected him to look.
So I think it's a good room.
I just think that Byron Young fills a job that they don't really have someone to fill.
So yes, I sent it to you.
1159.
The answer key was the headline.
You were the only one to send that.
And the other person who sent the answer.
Oh, I wasn't the only one?
Yeah, you were not.
The other person who sent the answer
may have been invoked earlier in the show.
Oh, okay.
Quarterback, Jalen Hertz, Tanner McKee, Sam Howell.
You know, you go in the order of how good they are.
Running back, Sequin, Barclay, Will Shipley, A.J. Dillon,
Tideon, Dallas Goddard, Grant, Calcutterra,
Kyleon, Grantson,
wide receiver, Darius Cooper, A.J. Brown, Fonte Smith.
I did not notice that.
That's good.
I'm happy about that.
Darius Cooper.
We are like the official podcast of Darius Cooper.
I finally met the guy after the Jets game.
Yeah?
Yeah, firm handshake.
Did you tell me you wrote the story?
I did.
Yeah, we talked about Jason, or sorry, Todd Witten, not Jason Witten.
Okay, what do they say?
Nothing to, nothing that you wouldn't have found out from reading the story is what I would say.
But no, he was, he seemed to enjoy the fact.
Had he read it?
He didn't read it, but he was, I think he knew I talked to his coach, though.
Yeah.
Okay.
We got to get them to read it.
You got to get them to sign up for, be it, become a diehard.
Become a diehard, Darius.
We love you.
We are, we sort of invented you.
So, you know, I mean, if we didn't spend so much time.
And get all this new merch, which you can get, if you become a diehard now, $36 for the whole year.
If we didn't spend all this time talking about them, then the other 31 teams may not know.
And they might have been in trying to sneak up through waivers.
Yeah, it's true.
All right.
We have two positions left to talk about.
We're not as special teams.
You know who the three are.
Jake Elliott, Charlie Hewlett, Braden Mann.
It's all the same.
They're not going to pull any cons there.
Yeah, no chicanery.
So we've got cornerback and safety still to come,
and we will get to it in Bovertime.
Oh, no.
All right, we're back.
You've got to do what you got to do.
There we go.
No, you don't have the frantan.
You're not uniform in there.
It's okay.
I made a pledge.
Oh, my God.
Okay.
Let's give the superchats.
coming in. Okay. Let's talk it up. Let's get to the superchats for now, actually. Nine percent
there. A very generous $10 donation says, oh, what if, given how things have played out so
far, would the Eagles have been better off having Shador dropped them in the fifth as QB3 or the
reality of Mack McWilliams and Sam Howell? I think they're happy with Mac McWilliams. Yeah, I think the fact
that Mac McWilliams has become an intriguing player, I mean, like fringe, cornerback too, at some point
this season possibly.
I'm not ruling it out.
It's possible.
Yeah.
I think that that was better process than the Shador.
Yeah.
And I don't think, I mean, you know, you guys watch Shador.
Poor Shador.
I mean those sacks.
I mean, poor Shador.
I don't, I don't feel bad for him in that like he should, like, I've seen the arguments.
He should be getting more opportunities.
By the way, let's flip this.
We're going to get all kinds of views if we talk about Shador Sanders.
I just, I feel more like, I don't know.
It's, it comes with it, but it's got to be tough to like just be like your run of the
mill, like, day three quarterback pick.
and have all of this attention on literally everything.
I don't know.
I guess I shouldn't feel bad for him.
Like, again, it comes with it.
But I do kind of feel bad for him.
You think the Brown's going to keep him, though?
I have a hard time understanding, like the...
They're not going to kick him to the Shador?
I don't think they should do that.
Show him Shador?
But they've really painted themselves into a corner with this four-quarterback thing.
I mean, it's just like...
Yeah, but it's not like they have 53 good players anyway.
Yeah, but it's like, you have to look at the rest of your team
to be like we are carrying at least one more quarterback than we really ever would need to.
I don't know.
Fine. Fine investment. I don't think that's a big deal.
I just like the Jason Kelsey monologue about like everything has to be in the pursuit of winning
and the second that it's not the number one thing, it's irreparable.
It's one thing that I genuinely believe about sports.
I think that's true.
But I don't think that having four quarterbacks is not to the detriment of.
It's more of a long-term play than it is.
like we want to win games this season.
You're wasting a roster spot.
They're not wasting a,
it's not a waste of a roster spot.
It is though.
You've got 16 practice squad spots.
You can elevate guys all the time.
Yeah, but like it's the most important position.
It inherently is one of their guys might drop dead tomorrow.
That's how old he is.
But I feel like this is a little intellectually dishonest though
because it's like we're talking about like the like the very bottom of the Eagles
roster and like the incremental marginal gains you can get at those spots.
If you have four quarterbacks,
you are not taking advantage of that.
Not if you're just keeping four quarterbacks to keep four quarterbacks, but if you think all four quarterbacks deserve a spot on an NFL roster, then that's bad process to not keep them.
Maybe you think they should trade one of them.
I'd bet you get a kid for Kenny Pickett or whatever.
That's what they should do.
That's fine.
They should trade one.
You don't cut them just because you are only allowed to ever keep three quarterbacks.
If Howie Rosen painted himself into such a corner, he would trade one of them.
He would get something for one.
Maybe the Browns will.
Yeah.
But you asked me if they should keep Shador.
and the reason why I'm like waffling on it
is because they should keep him,
but their team building has put them in a situation
where they maybe cannot.
I think they'll be fine.
I mean, they won't be fine.
They probably won't be fine.
Yeah.
Not because of this.
SRG, can't wait for the Eagles
to train for Trey Hendrickson during bover time
and Boe has to talk about it
with two more buttons undone.
I hope it happens.
That'd be great.
Jolito.
Bo?
You met me.
Now this is,
guys name is Jordan.
He said,
you met me and my friend Mason
at the Ospreys
and said,
oh,
like Jordan Mason,
which was,
I mean,
a great line by me.
And I should have responded
with,
is it Mason Jordan or Jordan Mason?
It's been killing me
ever since.
Anyway,
love the show.
I mean,
I,
thank you very much.
I met those guys.
Great to meet you both.
And I can certainly identify
with,
man,
I should have,
ah,
there was a joke I could have made.
Ah,
all right.
I replay.
I replay every social encounter I have in my head.
Everyone?
Basically everyone, yeah.
Especially like the high awkwardness.
Is there one that comes to mind that's like a one you could have done better with?
I'm trying to think of one that doesn't happen at work because, you know.
You don't want to name drop people?
Well, let me be clear.
These are like, there are reflections of how I handled the social.
Oh, of course.
Definitely not anything to be like it's not an external thing.
I don't have one off the top of my head because I haven't had very much.
any social encounters that weren't me kicking my family out for the emergency podcast yesterday.
And then I worked today.
Okay. Fair enough.
Yeah.
Frank Barber, late night with sexy beau.
And Go Birds 94, more excited for Jahan Campbell or Vijay Edgecombe?
I'm excited for both, but I think Jihad Campbell, just, I don't know.
I think that he will have a more prominent role at the very least.
And I don't know, if you told me, like, Vijay Edgcom had like five games in his NBA
career that like were similar to the level of excitement that we got with jihad camp
in training camp then we could talk that's that's feel like that's shots fired five games in
his career that matched jahad campbell in training camp well you know what i mean like i'm even hitting
like jahad campel the excitement is informed by the fact that we saw him looked really good in training
camp so if vj edgecombe has like the jared mccain arc at the beginning of his rookie season then
then they're on a level playing field i feel like that's a little unfair i do think that by the nature
their positions like Jihad Campbell, you're thinking, okay, this guy's going to knock some people's
heads off.
And VJ. H. Cohn is playing. Oh, this guy's going to play great defense and rebound.
Yeah, he's going to, well, that's important stuff. Well, it's important, but it's not exciting.
Yeah, that's fair. You know what I mean? Yeah. All right. Two positions up to get through.
Cornerback. We match again.
Six. Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeGine, Dijeen, Adore Jackson, Jacorian Bennett,
Keely Ringo, Mack, McWilliams. Anything you second guest here?
Um, other than like the potential for Achille Ringo trade, not really.
Okay.
I felt pretty good about this group.
We talked about for a while the possibility that Adori Jackson could just not make the team.
They needed somebody to separate themselves.
I think so.
I think so.
Yeah.
Um, and I believe it was, I saw in the chat that people have said that it's been reported that Eli Ricks was waived.
So yeah, it doesn't surprise.
Um, there was a, there was, I thought there was maybe an outside chance.
They would just keep him as the seventh guy and hope to get a pick for him or something.
But, um, he never, he never.
really progressed from that level.
Right.
And he doesn't have special teams juice.
So if you don't look at him in that cornerback room,
as a factor in that cornerback room, it's tough.
Yeah.
All right, last one, safety.
And we do have a difference here.
All this buildup, you're thinking,
oh, they had one difference here.
Ben Van Van Sumeran versus, uh, who was it?
Anaya Smith, that's it.
They did a whole show and they had the same answers.
No, no, no, no, no.
We have one other.
We have two differences.
Reed Blankenship, Drew McCuba, Sydney Brown.
Oh, this is wrong.
I probably did the wrong graphic.
You have Tristan McCollum.
I have Andre Sam.
That's the fourth safety.
I almost had Andre Sam as the fifth safety.
And for the reason I mentioned earlier,
if I'm going to lose it and I lose it on Andre Sam
being the fifth safety, I can live with that.
I think he's an intriguing player.
I think he's got lots of special teams juice.
He's like, I think you wrote this
and I was about to steal it right out from under you
that he is like a smaller, more controlled version of Sidney Brown.
And I like that.
I really like that as a player.
So if he's on, I'm going to be upset
because he's exactly the type of player I should have had on.
But I just ran out of spots.
It was really him and Byron Young that I was like torn between
and I went Byron Young
because I think I could see a world
where he is up on game day doing something for the team
just a little bit more than Andre Sam.
I have Andre Sam over McCollum.
Yeah, that's interesting.
For a few reasons.
I think he's a better special teams player.
Yeah.
And I think even if you think McCollum is a little bit better defensively,
they're different types of players.
The depth at safety, Cooper DeGine is part of that.
And so the fourth safety is never really going to play.
If they get down that far,
I think they'd be more likely to just play Cooper deGina safety
and put MacMac Williams in the game.
Yeah.
So that matters less.
I think Ty goes to the guy who has an extra year of team control,
which Andres Sam does versus Tristan McCollum.
and I like Tristan
like that play and the first play of the game
last week is very indicative
like good instincts to come downhill
but could make the play
so listen I don't feel great
that Andre Sam's gonna make this team
I could because of the reasons I just said
they could go three safeties
probably not since Drew McCube was injured
yeah
but I could regret that
but I go Sam over McCollum
yeah I think Tristan McCollum
this is kind of like a Vic Fangio
evaluation over my own
He has favored Tristan McCollum a lot.
I mean, Tristan McCollum played over Sydney round last season.
So I just had a hard time cutting McCollum.
And to your point, like the Cooper to Gene thing, I hadn't really considered that, but it's a great point.
Like at some point, it's like we aren't going to play Andre Sam.
We're going to put Cooper to Gene at safety.
And then, yeah, it's Mack McWilliams or whoever you feel most comfortable with it at Nickel Corner.
So, yeah, I don't know.
Again, if Andre Sam is on this team, I'm going to be kicking myself because he is like exactly the type of player
that I was just talking about where it's like you believe in the guy you could see him
turning into something you bet on those you don't bet on the Kenyon greens of the world where it's
like I'm not I will kick myself to it if this fourth spot it goes to max and hook because I was
I was before the preseason game I was going to have max and hook on the roster yeah but they hit him
so much in that game that I really think that they're trying that was my land sticks and like it was
like I would have had him on I had him on a couple weeks ago and then I saw his preseason playing time yeah
I'm just like something's not right here.
Yeah.
Fishy.
Okay.
We'll see.
I think we have a good chance of will.
Will the crown stay in house?
So you are acknowledging the crowns?
No.
If I get the crown.
I've already got it.
It's in my basement somewhere.
You might want to check.
Maybe it's in my basement.
What's exciting here is that because you are the judge,
you have all of the rosters.
Exciting isn't the word for it.
I set you up with the spreadsheet.
Yeah.
We are going to be live tomorrow at 4 o'clock to react.
Now remember, we are pushing tomorrow's show from 2 o'clock to 4 o'clock
so that we can be live to react to all of the moves.
And we will be ready for emergency pods if trades happen earlier.
But that means we can announce the winner on tomorrow's show.
It's got to stay in house.
We can do the legwork, figure out who wins the roster competition.
Now it may, there may be a tie.
and they may have to come down to the practice squad,
and we can be public about that.
But if there is an outright winner from the 53,
the first and only place you will hear it is on tomorrow's show.
Man, it's must-see TV.
That's exciting.
You see me take down Bo for a second year in a row.
Please.
No chance.
All right.
Good stuff.
Good start to the week, everybody.
We're back tomorrow 4 o'clock, remember?
And then Tuesday, the rest of the week.
We will see you tomorrow.
Comment, like, subscribe, all that good stuff.
They tell me sex sells.
So get those subscribers up, baby.
Thank you, Julia.
Thank you, Ethan, for the graphics.
We will talk to you tomorrow.
And as always, we love you.
