Starting point is 00:00:07 Hello, everybody and welcome to the P.H.O.Y. Eagles podcast on a beautiful Friday afternoon live from the Xfinity Studio. And presented by Bent 365 and Ashley, I am Bo Wolf. I will be joined at some point by someone else. But for now, it's just me. So how's everybody doing? Good to see you. We're going to talk about Devante Smith on the show today, as well as the NFLPA report cards. That's pretty good. Hello, everybody. That is pretty good. You got the exact same one.
Starting point is 00:00:44 That's pretty good. I don't know what you're talking about. It looks yellow to me. The shirt that I'm wearing? Yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, this whole thing? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:00:56 I'm surprised you took such an interest to it. Sorry, I'm late. That's pretty good. Lindsay had a whole shot. Lindsay was in on a whole separate shot set up. I should have notice the camera was different. I mean, that's great. I wish there was a, I wish there was a second beat. I've, I've been rehearsing the, I don't know what you're talking about for a week now.
Starting point is 00:01:21 Okay. How did you, how long have you had this bad boy? I've had this in my car for probably about two weeks. You were, you, you were on vacation. So I wanted to make sure you were in. I thought about wearing it the entire week you were gone. No, it went good. But I wanted your reaction. from seeing the shirt. I thought there was something wrong with you. No. I thought like you either had gastrointestinal distress or something bad had happened, that you know, learning bad news.
Starting point is 00:01:50 Nope. All good. I have had to set you at 2 o'clock. I sent you a okay. And I stopped. You're right there. Yeah. I've had this shirt in my car for literally weeks.
Starting point is 00:01:59 And every day I look at it, it's like, your time's coming. Yeah. That's fantastic. From here on out, I will be. For the audio listeners EJ is where the shirt The shirt From here on out
Starting point is 00:02:12 I will be honoring you By pretty good isn't it It's a nice and comfortable shirt I have no idea what you're talking about This is just one of the shirts I mean a flannel hate to see me coming Someone's say Oh this is delightful
Starting point is 00:02:25 You're speaking my love language This is very nice Okay I feel like we should even talk about the Eagles today Who cares? I mean we should There's lots to talk about. I got some good reporting that we can get to.
Starting point is 00:02:39 I mean, listen, there's a lot of buzz around the Eagles, you know, Indianapolis. Buzz Lutte-Bus. All right, let's talk to Vante Smith. That's where you wanted to start today. So what's on your mind? We've talked about there's some, speaking of the buzz, there's some buzz internally about what DeVante could look like in this offense. Yeah. What more do you have there?
Starting point is 00:02:57 I was going to say there are people internally that are, and by the way, I think this is going to be the big takeaway presented by Xfinity, our friends of the Xfinity. Nailed it. I mean, that's not usually my job. I've done it a few times. You're a little thrown by the fact that I've got the shirt, the shirt. I'm not thrown by. I think it's great.
Starting point is 00:03:21 All right. Devante Smith, I think that there is internal... I think you're thrown by what do I do next. I mean, there's nothing to do. There is internal optimism, encouragement, enthusiasm about what he's going to look like in Sean Mannion system. And there's definitely the sense I got from talking to people in Indianapolis is that like there's another level for Devante to take in terms of production because of the fact
Starting point is 00:03:46 that he will probably be, I would say, featured a little bit more in a Sean Mannion system, not necessarily like he's going to have a ton more targets. I think he will have more targets next season. And I think that that really has been the limiting factor for him over the last few years. I think, you know, when people in the Eagles building talk about Devante Smith, they think of him in the same tier or the same plane as a player like Jackson Smith and Jigba or Puka and Akua. And really, if you think about it, like, what's the big difference? You know, I look through their numbers, the arts perception are identical. And I think really when you try to figure out like, okay, when you try to extrapolate, like, what is different about Devante Smith and Puka?
Starting point is 00:04:25 Puka is a little bit more dynamic after the catch, a little bit more physical. Jackson Smith and Jigba, I think, is a really good comp. really when you look at it, I think it is their usage. It's the routes that they're deployed on. It is the creativity that those offenses used to get them the ball and get them the ball in space. So I do. I think that we've said it before. Like, yeah, so this Devonte Smith route tree here is kind of depressing when you look at the other ones. Not a lot over the middle of the field. Not a lot in the intermediate or deep part of the field, obviously. Like the shallow cross is really all you have there. When you look at either of the other two guys, there are a lot of deep crossers.
Starting point is 00:05:01 more variety. I mean, look at those. It is just significantly different. And I think that you could expect Devante Smith's droughtry to look more like those based off of the offensive coordinator that they brought in. So I think that's the reason why there's so much, you know, buzz around Devante Smith being a big part of what Sean Mannion's going to do. There's a lot of imagination about what it will look like. And yeah, I think that what the way I would say, the way I would phrase it is buy your Devante Smith stock now because I think that this is going to be something that leads into training camp. I think we're going to be excited to see what it looks like in the summer. And then, yeah, I think it will trickle into next season. Do you think part of
Starting point is 00:05:37 this is calculated to, I don't want to make everything about AJ Brown, to prepare for the possibility that Devante has to become the number one? I think even if AJ comes back, I still think that Devante is going to have a big role to play. I mean, AJ will also be, if AJ is back, I think he will also be a huge winner with Sean Maniate system. He's like built for those, you know, intermediate crossers over the met. Yeah, but the other thing is, we have also heard this is not going to, this is going to be even more of a run-heavy offense. Sure.
Starting point is 00:06:06 So how do those, how do those, all of those things compute with each other? Yeah. So because of that, I'd have skepticism that Devante Smith will ever be a 150 target guy. Okay. You know, because they are not really set up to be that way offensively. And I've always, well, I guess not always. The last two years I felt, Sequan Barkley and A.J. Brown are the big dogs at the table. They're the ones that are going to eat the most.
Starting point is 00:06:28 You know, they're, yeah, exactly. They are the ones that you kind of build it around. But I do think that Devante is going to become a little bit more, a little bit closer to AJ. You know, if we're going to use the, I think I use the analogy like pitchers the other day, like a pitching rotation. I think they have two aces. I think that it's kind of been like one A, one B for a while.
Starting point is 00:06:46 I think that Devante will truly be more of an ace, more of the player that's featured. Because to me, I think that AJ, you can kind of put him in the X spot and you can feel good about him in that position. And then Devante is the one you want to get creative with and have him moving around the formation, have him deployed out wide, have him deployed in the slot.
Starting point is 00:07:05 I mean, Jackson Smith and Jigman lines up in the backfield sometimes. We've seen that sparingly with Devante Street. Yeah, it's like, yeah. There's like two games you get ready as it for two snaps. Yeah, there's like two plays. One as a decoy, and then the other one they actually throw it to him. Oh, you didn't see that coming. I think if the past iterations,
Starting point is 00:07:25 the other iterations of the Sean McVe, Kyle Shanahan, Matt LaFleffle, I don't know, said Mike LaFleur, Matt LaFleur systems are an indication. I do think that we're going to see Devante more creatively used next season. I hope so. Yeah. I think you could do worse than as they are, you know, as you said the other day,
Starting point is 00:07:45 they are in the beginning stages of like putting this offense together, right? And because A.J. is an uncertainty, it kind of makes sense to like focus on Devante Smith as you build out the passing game. You know what I mean? build it around him. Yeah. And then if you have AJ Brown to insert into that, awesome.
Starting point is 00:08:06 But I think Devante is the guy to imagine the passing offense around. Absolutely. And there's a leverage that you can take advantage of there because AJ has a gravity just by being AJ. It doesn't really matter if you're creative with him or not. I think even with the way that last season went, I still feel like AJ is the player that opposing defense, well, Sequan, I think is the player that defensive of coordinators start with when they're preparing for the Eagles,
Starting point is 00:08:30 but I think that AJ is a close second. So I think you could kind of make Devante the number one there by being so creative with him, where it's like, you know, they've got a lot of dynamic players, but the way that they use Devante makes him very difficult to account for. So, yeah, I think that it's really a matter of opportunity. The run game part of this is real. But I do think that he will get more opportunity and I do. I think it'll be more productive.
Starting point is 00:08:56 Okay. Like, what's your, what's your over under here? Like, what's your, what's your, calling your shot that he's going to have a great season? I mean, is, are you, are you putting your chest out to say that it will be the most productive season of his career? Yeah, I mean, I think that that's a fair. He hasn't had, like, an insanely productive season. Yeah. You know, his, he hasn't been over 100 catches.
Starting point is 00:09:20 So, I mean, for that, from that standpoint, absolutely. His career high in targets is 136 that came in 2022. I think that that is probably like where you want him to be. We're so passive that year. I know, but that's what I'm saying. Like, that's like ideal. Like, that's the, that's probably like, best case scenario is he's like at like 140 next year. But I think 100, I think 100 catches.
Starting point is 00:09:44 I think, I mean, Pook and Akua and Jackson Smith and Jigbo were both about 1,700 yards last year. I'm not going to quite go that far. 1,300? Yeah, but say 1,300. You could talk me into 1,300. Okay. Yeah, I just, I think that like when you look at his numbers, he's very efficient. It's just a matter of he doesn't, it doesn't have the opportunity.
Starting point is 00:10:04 And I think that based off of like the last week, I feel like he will have more opportunity next year. Okay. Maybe it'll be the year of Devante Smith. Tune in August to find out who I came next. I mean, if it goes away of your call for the year of A.J. Brown, it's going to be a topsy, turvy kind of year for DeVante Smith. The year of, it was the year of A. Not in the way that you meant it. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:10:25 That's not how the show works. the book on The Big Takeaway presented by our friends at Xfinity. Shout out, Xfinity. So at what point did you sneak a look at my shirt to find out where it came from? I mean, no, actually, so this isn't my story. This is, yeah, this is Lindsay's story. Oh, Lindsay is glowing right now.
Starting point is 00:10:44 I was going to step in and be like, well, we had to do some detective work. So there's no good opportunity to, like, look at your shirt. Yeah. So we got Rachel's number. Oh, really? Shout out, Rachel. But nobody who works here had it. So we had to get it from Sheel.
Starting point is 00:11:00 That is so funny. That is a long road that you guys had to walk. We texted. Like, I don't even think Zach had it, which I was like, how. That's very funny. So Sheal came to the rest of you, and I texted Rachel, like, I'm so sorry to be, like, weird. But she was like, oh, no problem. That's so funny.
Starting point is 00:11:19 That's great. So are we going to match? Do you want to, like, try and coordinate? We already have other matching up. see flannel by the way. Should we do it? That's actually a good idea. We should do a week of five different matching outfits.
Starting point is 00:11:31 Do we have enough matching? We've got the pHs. At least two. Yeah, we'll get there. Yeah, you probably have the T-shirt that I have too. Probably. Yeah. That would be fun.
Starting point is 00:11:40 That's a good way. That's a good idea. Comment, comment on the video if you want to see a week of matching. Comment matching week. Great one. I like it when they're like, you have to watch the show to know what the person saying. Okay.
Starting point is 00:11:55 I think it's fun. The match game. I texted Julia and I said just watch the first five minutes of the show today. She doesn't answer me. Oh my God. All right. Let's take our break here on the PHA Eagle Show. On the other side, we talk about the NFL PA grades for the Eagles, the bad grades they got,
Starting point is 00:12:15 what they're doing to potentially affect some change. And the things that they graded well at, we'll talk about it next. Welcome back to the P.H.O.I. Eagles podcast. I'm A.J. Smith. That's Bo Wolf. Let's talk grades. Yeah. When they came down, and first of all, great job by Kaling Kailer. Oh, absolutely. Shout out to Kail. To get her hands on these bad boys. Fantastic work. What was your big takeaway? I had several. The big takeaway. Yes. Shout out to Xfinity. I had several big takeaways.
Starting point is 00:14:50 Nick Siriani's grade did not surprise me, but I did. think it was. What was it? It was an A. It was an A. Shout out to Lindsay flashing these up. Although I can't read them because it really glasses. Dangerous. What? Go ahead. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:15:05 I'm sorry. That was actually on me. So it's a loopy Friday. Lindsay was prepared for the one thing and then she was ready to clock out. All right. Syriani got an A. I was not surprised, actually. I've seen a lot of people reacting to Howie Roseman getting a B in relative to Knicks A. I think it's like players vote on this. Players like to play for Nick. That's again why I wasn't overly surprised. You know, they have a lot of affection for Nick. And I think if you're a good GM, not to, I don't know which GM's got A's.
Starting point is 00:15:44 But I feel like if you're a good GM, you probably don't get an A on the NFLPA survey. You know what I mean? Like you're not doing your job. If everybody loves you as the GM, it's not a popularity contest. Let's see. Well, actually, shout out today, Niz. That chart is awesome. A great summary of everybody.
Starting point is 00:16:04 And I mean, Howie Roseman's B is, I mean, there are only four grades lower in the whole league. Right. That's what I'm saying. Thank you. You just made my point for me. You did an excellent job using the data to, No, but there are other good, you know, John Schneider got an A. You know, you think about who are the other really good general managers?
Starting point is 00:16:30 Les Sneed got an A. Yeah. I think it's because how he is, what you're hinting at, that like he'll make tough decisions, but it's also, you know, contract negotiations can get contentious. And the other thing is they have not paid guys in season. Right. And I don't think that's changing. It's not.
Starting point is 00:16:52 Yeah, and it's something that... Yeah, how he has talked extensively about he doesn't want to make it seem like he's playing favorites. Right. He talks about how it turns players into independent contractors on the final year of their contract because they feel like I have to play for the extension. And if you gave it... If you gave an extension to someone else, that means that I'm probably on my way out. It is...
Starting point is 00:17:11 I think it's a lesson learned from, what, the 22 season, ironically enough? Or was it the 23 season? No. He decided... He came to this conclusion in 22. Yes. Because they had guys at the same position who were up at the same time. Right.
Starting point is 00:17:26 And then I think he's stuck to it ever since. Yeah. So it was a 22. Because in 21, they paid a bunch of guys who were up on, you know, on their rookie deal. And that year it made sense because it was like Dallas got her. Beginning of a new. It was also beginning of a new regime. It made sense.
Starting point is 00:17:37 Yeah. But I honestly. But yeah. If you are, if you are Murojimo and you watched Milton Williams come through and not get paid, like, okay, well, this is a guy who did everything the exact right way. Like that is, you know, it's a mark against the general manager to some degree. Yeah, I do think that the Milton Williams From the player perspective
Starting point is 00:17:55 The way Milton Williams played out Is like the cautionary tale of not doing that though Because I think if they were willing to do in season extensions You probably get Milton Williams back in back On an extension I think so or the offseason before Right, but anyway, Vic Fangio getting an A plus was also fun Yeah
Starting point is 00:18:11 But the one that jumps out to most fans I think they got an F in travel Which we can unpack And then what was their facilities grade Do you have it there? I think it was like a C-Mobile minus D. A D. D for the locker room. Yes. Lockroom. They got a D and I think they got a minus for the training room. Yeah. Yeah. So I can add some context to some of these. First and foremost, again,
Starting point is 00:18:35 shout out to Kailen Kailer for breaking this report card this year because it was not actually permitted to be released by the NFLPA. It's just such good stuff. Yeah. And it's so paper, thin, soft by the owners. Like, give me a break. Yes. What agree. These the, He's like the temerity for the billionaires here who, you know, have a league partnership with PFF or whatever it is, okay? And all the public, the salary information for the players is public. Meanwhile, we get to hide what the coaches get paid. And if there is one teeny, tiny bit of public accountability for the owners, they have to litigate. It is so pathetic.
Starting point is 00:19:19 Yeah, I agree. So last year the report card was brought out publicly and there was some context that we got from the NFLPA, which I will give them a shout out for. I've been giving a lot of shoutouts today. And three of the things that the NFLPA report card listed from Eagles players as complaints from last year's survey was not enough first class seating for players on away charter flights. And most, I guess more importantly, the prioritization for coaches to get to get. the first class seats instead of the players. Yes. The second thing was not having child care available for game, for game day.
Starting point is 00:19:57 And then the third thing was a little bit of a smaller thing, at least in my opinion, was that they don't like stagger meal times enough. So the cafeteria gets overcrowded. Those were some of the things that were knocking on the Eagles grades. The travel thing, they've got, they've been getting Fs in that category for a few years now because of this first class seating issue. And I can tell you that the Eagles have made like an effort to improve that. So I'm just, just hear me out. The Eagles have made an effort to improve that where for longer
Starting point is 00:20:27 flights, three plus hours, they will have more first class seating available for the starters, basically. I would say all of the starters end up getting first class seating. Some of them are like in the lie flat seats. And then the rest of the players will get an entire row of like a three seat row. Most of those players, you know, again, the backups and the reserves will get those spots. you might ask, because I think it's important for us to say that everything here is relative. Like, and I saw someone in the chat point out, like, and this I think is a fun point that we should keep in mind is like these guys that come from these big schools in the SEC are used to like the state of the art facilities of a of a university that basically had no other way to spend all their money until very recently other than just making the most unbelievable facilities you can imagine. And so it's all relative. Like to, you know, people like us, like some of this stuff might sound crazy, but you also have to keep in mind, like, teams have figured out these problems.
Starting point is 00:21:28 Teams get A in these categories. So this is, you know, these are areas that the Eagles don't necessarily compare favorably. You know, again, it's a few areas, but still, the flight thing in particular, I think the only way to solve it is by having like a private plane with custom seating. I'm not an expert on these things? I don't think that's the only the only solved. The solve is to take the coaches out of first class. That's what the other teams do. That's not going to get everybody.
Starting point is 00:21:57 That's totally fine to me. Yeah. I mean, think about it. You just played a football game. Yeah. And the coaches didn't play. They didn't go through that same physical exertion. They're not banged up.
Starting point is 00:22:07 Yeah. And you got to walk through and they're sitting in first class. I kind of, I get it. I get why the players don't like that. I understand it. I also have heard the opposite side of that argument, which is that getting the. entire row is better than having to sit next to somebody in a first.
Starting point is 00:22:20 That's there. Obviously not. The results tell you that that's not true. I mean, yes, the players would complain. Again, I've heard both sides of the argument. That's, I'm not trying. Well, no, I am trying to both sides this. I don't mind.
Starting point is 00:22:32 I am going to both sides this argument. I think, you know, having an entire road to yourself is also favorable. But again, you're right. You and me. Clearly the players. Clearly not. The players are giving them the, the, so that's what I can say is that the players are giving them these grades because,
Starting point is 00:22:47 they feel like the travel accommodations are good enough. But I also, it's not, it is, my understanding, it is, it comes down entirely to the first class seating. Oh, for the travel. Yeah, the travel. There's nothing about like, you know, the team travel. It's just, we want the first class seats. And it is like a pretty like consistent and strong message.
Starting point is 00:23:07 And for the record, uh, I wanted to also mention like the, the team has been in contact with the leadership council, especially last year. Okay. Uh, they met with. them to address some of these things. So I mean, it's it's something that again, every year, as long as we keep getting the report card, we will be able to monitor how this progresses. But that explains the travel thing. So if you're wondering why the Eagles get F's and travel, that's why they get F's and travel. I also learned, this is from a team source here, that the, the organization has bought
Starting point is 00:23:37 the part of the building that they didn't own before from the Rothman orthopedics, which was, it's a it's a it's a for those who aren't familiar with the practice facility it is the space that's closest to the practice bubble yeah the indoor facility um they didn't own it before they own it now and they're working on a renovation project that will give them more space in the building um because they got a d in locker room right yeah so i think that this probably well actually this is a guess that it will have ripple effects into affecting the locker room because again it's more space that gives them the opportunity to move things away from the locker room. But I think the stage they're at now is more about like player recovery space, massage rooms, stuff like that.
Starting point is 00:24:20 I'm sorry, I'm looking at, I'm laughing because I'm looking at who else had a bad grade in locker room. Yeah. And of course, it's the Cardinals who are at F minus. Well, they got and then I scroll up. They're the only team. They have an F in ownership. It's so funny. Eagles got a B and And ownership. Yeah. All right. So what else jumped out to you? Well, no, but that's interesting information.
Starting point is 00:24:45 Oh, yeah, for sure. That they are, I mean, the Jefferson Health Complex thing came out a month ago. Yeah. And this is not something that we knew before is that they are making plans. A little scoopy, scoopy. Yeah, like I said, they are making plans to upgrade the practice facility, which it's just the nature of like, you know, if you're a homeowner, you know this. It's an old building.
Starting point is 00:25:04 Yeah, it's an old building. You know, when they built it, it was state of the art. Yeah. A lot have been built since then. remember when we were in Miami for joint practices a few years ago, like, that place is incredible. So, yeah, it's a natural cycle of, like, you know, I guess real estate in general. And I think that they are making strides to improve those things. And that, I guess, is, like, reflective in the fact that Jeffrey Lorry, like I said,
Starting point is 00:25:28 I think you got to be, right? I think it's like they're working toward addressing these things. It's not like, you know, they're ignoring it. Now, the first class seating thing has clearly become, like, a thing. But yeah, otherwise, I don't know, the rest of the grades were pretty, pretty favorable. We should do a study if the Eagles underperform the week after a long travel because the guys had to sit in the coach. Well, they've been really good against, oh, the week after. It's been really good period.
Starting point is 00:25:57 Well, they've been good at SoFi in particular. Well, yeah, but it's not about the game. Yeah, that's what I'm saying, the week after. Yeah, yeah. They beat the Ravens. Yeah, it's a quick debunk of. Treatment of families, C-plus. What do you make of that one?
Starting point is 00:26:09 So I think that the complaint was about a lack of child care on game day. And I, I mean, the Eagles, it's, it's tough. Like, my understanding is like, it's an insurance thing. Like, you know, it's like, you know, you can't insure child care. But obviously teams have figured that out. So, so, so yeah. Here's what I want. Here's what I will call out.
Starting point is 00:26:33 The, you know what? Let me just say. I think they have improved on that grade. though the family I think that's right because there was a complaint before about like friends and family being with season ticket holders after the during game day and after the game I think the Eagles have made strides to like avoid that to have family and friends in a place where that's that's more private here's what I will say the the bad grades the Eagles have are structural
Starting point is 00:27:04 things yeah that aside from the first class issue they don't have a ton of control over at the moment and as you said are working to address but the quality of the behind-the-scenes staff in the building yes is really reflected in these grades and they and those people deserve a shout-out you just you just think about it i mean strength coaches a minus position coaches a minus training staff a nutritionist dietitian b plus uh food dining area a which is there it's one of you know it's the best grade in the league yeah Home game field, Tony Lennon's crew, A, like all of those people who, uh, who work really, really hard to make things work for the players in their everyday lives, I think it's,
Starting point is 00:27:49 it's great that the, uh, the players reflect that those people are doing a great job and it's good for them to get that notice. Yeah, I'm glad you pointed that out too, because I think that this is an important balancing like context to something we spent a lot of time talking about a couple of weeks ago about like the building and how intense it is. And, you know, I do think being around there as much as I am that like, you would be surprised how many people there are like that kind of push the day to day forward and like how much of an effect they have on players and how much it's appreciated. You know, like I, that's like one thing that's fun is like writing stories about, you know, people behind the scenes that really are like the support. And I do think that
Starting point is 00:28:31 the Eagles have built a really good staff. And it's, yeah, like you said, it's reflected in the report card. One other interesting one? Michael Clay, special teams coordinator in A. Yeah. Yeah. For Michael Clay. This is like the summer of Michael Clay.
Starting point is 00:28:41 The players do. Everybody I talked to the players love Michael Clay. Yeah. Offseason of Michael Clay. Vic getting an A plus. Did any other defensive coordinator get an A plus? Seattle. Okay.
Starting point is 00:28:53 Well, yeah. And Chargers. Hmm. Okay. He gets hired. Yeah. There you go. That's interesting.
Starting point is 00:28:59 Yeah. That one was fun for me. I mean, and I also, let me just say, like Kevin Petullo got what a C. A C plus. A C plus. I saw people like, oh, like they hated Kevin Petula. I wouldn't go that far. No, not at all.
Starting point is 00:29:12 Yeah. I mean, it was a bad year for the offense. I think it's probably reflected in the grade, but a C plus wasn't like, you know, like they all couldn't stand him and they couldn't wait until he left. Yeah. And just looking across like, you know, the food stuff,
Starting point is 00:29:27 where the Eagles got an A, most teams are in the B, C range there. Like the Eagles are over-indexing in a couple of, you know, day-to-day operations. The cafeteria there is like fantastic. Yeah, but well, it's why I didn't have the privilege. You know, I came, I joined the beat after the media were kicked out of the cafeteria. But I've heard tons of stories about how good it is, both from media members and also Eagles players.
Starting point is 00:29:52 Can I flex on you? I've eaten there before. Wow. That's good. And the people are really nice. Okay. Well, I'm flexing on EJ, not you. He said he'd never been there.
Starting point is 00:30:02 I mean, I've spent, no, you spent more time at the first. facility than I have still probably right like net net hours at the facility for sure I worked in the building for six years whole flex wow look at you I said I said you did okay but I'm come I may be catching you might be no speaking of another guy who worked in the building for a few years after this break oh I was giving you a good Lindsay do you you should get there on my own you should host the show honestly like coordinated the shirt just tossed us to break. If the shirt wasn't so expensive, I would have gotten one, too, and worn it at the same time. Yeah, the shirt wasn't cheap. It's a little pricey. It was a gift. I didn't
Starting point is 00:30:42 order it. Oh, wow. Shout out to the person who gave you that gift. The person who gave the link to you. Wow. Yeah. Should we switch for the D-block, Lindsay? I'll produce you host. I thought we're switching shirt. I just need the David Baker mask. That's right. Nobody's allowed to see Lindsay's face ever. Back with more on the other side. All right, we are back on the PHA Y Eagles podcast and look who it is. We keep sort of adding one person back here, but you are still there at the Combine in Indianapolis, the great, all-city NFL draft insider, expert. Savant.
Starting point is 00:33:29 Sex symbol. Hi, I mean, guy. Icon. Fran Duffy. Fran, how are you? First of all. Good, guys. How's everything?
Starting point is 00:33:37 Good. We missed you. You know, you're not missing us, but we miss you. I will say, I listened back to the show yesterday. E.J., had I seen, had I noticed that you were cutting up your shrimp at the table, I would have called you out instantly. So there's no defending it. You can't say, oh, it's served with the floor.
Starting point is 00:33:59 Sure, there is. What do you mean? There's no defending. There's no defending cutting up a piece of shrimp with a book. I just want, I want the viewers to reflect on the fact that this only came up because I was complimenting Fran's toughness. I was gassing him up. And in return, all you guys are going to do is make fun of me. So weak.
Starting point is 00:34:19 I mean, listen, if you kind of tough scientists. Eating shrimp constitutes toughness. It's not eating shrimp. It's like housing horseradish. Respect, Fran. But, you know, I'm not built that way. And you know what? That's fine.
Starting point is 00:34:32 I can live with that. Yeah, but you don't have to. You don't have to eat all the horse radish while just eating the shrimp. Well, actually, I kind of like the sensation that the horse radish gives you, but in small doses, I'm fine with it. I don't need to be like everyone else. Good for you. It's important.
Starting point is 00:34:49 That's important to be comfortable with your own body. DJ, I think that's very good. Let's talk draft. Let's talk draft. Now, yesterday we saw the edge guys and the linebackers workout, and there were some eye-popping numbers. What were the ones that, to your, and knowledge, Fran, like made the most impact.
Starting point is 00:35:10 Yeah, I mean, there were a handful of guys, and I said on yesterday's show that I really felt like the edge rush group is maybe the best position in this draft when you're looking like top to bottom. I will say like the overall, like the field workout, it's a little bit underwhelming. Oh, okay. Yeah, I think quite like, you know,
Starting point is 00:35:28 it wasn't quite up to snuff of what I was expecting, what I was hoping for from the group overall. But there were still some really good numbers and some guys that tested really well. I will say there were there were two guys that come to mind when it comes to like who outperformed expectations. And I would say that those two guys are Malachi Lawrence from Central Florida and denied Dennis Sutton from Penn State.
Starting point is 00:35:47 These are two guys that I think are more known for power and play strengths in Sutton's case or when you're looking at Lawrence, it's more like his skill and his hand usage. We talked about him yesterday. We did. Yeah, exactly right. And so to me, like I wasn't. expect it. And even like I was sitting in the stands with somebody that that knows Lawrence pretty well, said like, were you expecting him to test as well? And he said, no. And so the fact that, you know,
Starting point is 00:36:14 that he was able to surpass that, that's going to be big for his stock in the way that he's viewed. All right. I like that. And what about Dennis Sutton? What's the book on him? Yeah, Dennis Sutton is a guy that he's a, so he's a Penn State. So, you know, people that are local to our, to our region, maybe more familiar with his game. I will say that he's a guy that it was easy to like him on film. it's hard to like like fall in love with him as a player just because the overall athletic upside was the question the overall pass rush upside was the question he's like going for size power strength intensity I love his motor he blocked three kicks this year three punts this year there's a lot to like intangible you know talking with sources at Penn State everybody kind of was was raving about him from like a locker room standpoint leadership standpoint so there's a lot to like about denied Dennis Sutton I did not expect. him to test the way that he did. And there was a, I put out something last night after just kind of going through the numbers. He had a six, nine even in the three cone.
Starting point is 00:37:09 And that's an outstanding number. And when you look at particularly for guys at that size. So there have been eight pass rushers, eight edge rushes drafted in the last decade that weighed at least 255 pounds. And then had that six, nine or better in the three cone. And the list is, you're looking at it like, oh, this is a pretty good hit rate. Joey Bosa, Max Crosby, Aidan Hutchinson, Trayvon Walker. O'Dafay O'A, Sam Hubbard, that's six out of six starters,
Starting point is 00:37:35 and then you got Jordan, Willis, and Kylie Fitz after that. So eight players have done it, and six of the eight became starters, and five of the eight became, like, impactful starters. So that's a good look there for, uh, for tonight and set. Those block kicks. It's going to be enticing for the Eagles. And they're a graded special teams coordinator. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:53 Uh, how about Tyler own yetam and Grace Linton, who you also have on your list of winners. Yeah, these were two defensive tackles. So this was the first group that we saw go up. I would say real quickly from that from that group as a whole, didn't love the positional work. I thought that those guys were just sitting there and just going through and just charting every single rep.
Starting point is 00:38:13 And it's like, yeah, like no one's really moving the needle from the position work. Okay. Now, that said, I think looking at Onietam from Texas A&M, he was the guy that I thought had a good workout. He started his career at Iowa State and moved on to Texas A&M last off season. And when you're looking at On Yetam, He is built. I'm trying to think of a good kind.
Starting point is 00:38:34 Like he's built like said Thornton in terms of like the like the rain. Like he's big and broad and tall. He's got more athletic upside than than the swamp thing had. So now when you're looking at Oneedem and thank you, Lindsey for flashing these numbers. This is impressive numbers for a guy his size. He is disruptive. He's got a quick first step.
Starting point is 00:38:51 There is a lot to like with Oneedem and what he can be in the NFL. Grayson Halton is built differently. He is more of like your pure traditional three. technique, kind of squatty on the shorter side. I will say talking to a lot of the Oklahoma defensive players this week, a lot of those guys point to him as one of the leaders of that team
Starting point is 00:39:10 internally at Oklahoma, speaking with people that are there that know that program well. He is the guy that they all kind of rave about. He's everything that we want to be, everything that we want to stand for here at Oklahoma. So I think when you're looking at Grayson-Hawton, there's a lot to like about his skill set. And certainly what he did yesterday. I thought he
Starting point is 00:39:28 showed up well. Now, the linebackers, Fran, I do want to give you a little credit in terms of calling your own shot here because you have three guys here who stood out and two of the three were on your projection for workout warriors at the position. You nailed it. Sunny Stiles and Jacob Rodriguez. Yeah, I mean, you know, it didn't take a rocket scientist to look at Sunny Stiles. I'm not going to, I'm not going to hurt myself pat myself on the back on that one. I would. I would. I'm sorry him. I mean, just an unbelievable workout. And honestly, like something we have not seen. And we have not seeing guys that big do what he did from a from an athleticism standpoint in the jumps in the
Starting point is 00:40:05 40 just a rare rare athlete and more importantly for him this is a guy that you know in having conversations with people across the league over the last couple of days anyone that has had him in for interviews raves about like just said you know there was a guy they said like one of the best interviews i've ever done so i think when you're looking at sunny styles uh all the intangibles you want. The film was really good. He went out and did everything. Like, it was like, oh, yeah, like he ran this. He did every single drill, every single test. He did
Starting point is 00:40:35 the position workout. It was lights out. So Sunny Stiles was a player that I think a lot of people had earmarked for the Dallas Cowboys. I think our buddies at DLS and kissed that one goodbye. I don't think he's making it to 12th. Wow. Yeah, I think when you look at Sunny styles, he's going to go, yep,
Starting point is 00:40:52 not Sunny Styles. So I think when you look at that at Stiles, way he certainly helped himself yesterday. And then Jacob Rodriguez is a player that honestly like this was my second time seeing him live, you know, saw him down at the senior bowl. And I turned to somebody yesterday as we were watching and said like, it's hard not to feel good about this player. Extremely productive, all the intangibles. He's well put together. He moves really just a natural athlete. He's a good football player. He's going to be day two.
Starting point is 00:41:21 He's not going to be a first round pick, but it just looks like a future starter. There's a lot to like there with Jacob Rodriguez. And then what about defensive tackle Jackie Marshall, who was also a good prediction from you on a workout warrior? Yeah, he honestly had one of the cleanest position work, position sessions of the defensive tackles. Athletic defensive lineman from Baylor got dinged up early in the year, but a high character kid with athletic traits. He popped when I was at the Shrine Bowl. And I really liked myself from him live at that event. So I was not shocked to see that he did well over the course of the session here yesterday.
Starting point is 00:41:56 All right. Now we move our attention to looking ahead to later today when we get the defensive backs and tight ends working out on the field. We have talked with you already a little bit about the tight ends and the depth at that position. But if you are an Eagles fan, who is someone that you should really want to pay attention to tonight? Yeah, I mean, it really comes down to what you're hoping to see. Like, are you hoping to see, do you want a pass catcher first? Do you want the combo guys? If you're looking at the combo guys worried about the blocking, then the athletic testing isn't going to, isn't going to stand out, right? It is unlikely to stand out. Obviously, though, the round one option
Starting point is 00:42:31 is going to be Kenyon Sadiq from Oregon. And so what I understand, he's going to do well from, or that he's going to go through and he's going to do all the testing here. At this event, we'll find out here in about a couple hours here because I think they go last. So to me, I'm excited to see Kenyon Sadiq, see him potentially put on a show. But he would be the only round one player, I think you're talking about in this group. If you're talking about past catchers, Justin Joe Lee is a player we've talked about from NC State, converted wide receiver. I really like what he can bring to the table as a kind of a past first option. And then after that, if we're talking dual threat players, I mean, there's a bunch of lot of
Starting point is 00:43:05 so I'm excited to see who can stand out. Like, of those guys that, you know, maybe are blockers first or are like the true combo players at the position, when I've seen them go through all these athletic tests and all these, all those drills back to back to back to back, who is the better athlete of this group? Who's like, ah, like, I'm not sure if he's got enough there to be drafted, and then who's got a little bit juice to, you know, potentially be a future started down the room. And if you're an Eagles fan, you're probably rooting for Kenyon Sadiq to run really slow, actually. Heard his draft stock and actually have a chance to make it to 23.
Starting point is 00:43:37 Would you be happy with that outcome, Fran? I mean, he's, I think this is like my 12th player, you know, something like that. He's something in that range right now. So yeah, I think that would be a good outcome. You know, but here's the thing, though, they can't go into the, they can't go into the draft. like without having an answer there. Right. So that's a tricky situation for them.
Starting point is 00:44:00 I think that's fine though. I think this is a draft proof that position sign a starting caliber tight end in free agency, trade for one, whatever it is, and then open up yourself to drafting at least one more guy. Some of us are on record as predicting Chico Conquo and Kenyan Sadiq in the tight end room. If it happens, you're here first. Or be the smallest tight end room in the NFL. How about the defense? Hands of backs. Anything, anything that you are particularly interested into watching with those guys?
Starting point is 00:44:29 It's my, it's my favorite workout of the week. So I am, I am, I am very excited to get over Lucasville Stadium. Because to me, the, the drill work, like the field drills are the most applicable to what guys are asked to do. And to me, like, I like the drills where, and it's different position by position, but where it's hard to, it's hard to cheat the drill. It's harder to hide if you're a limited athlete. And so, you know, some guys, it's not. not exposed is a strong term, but like some guys can get exposed in those kind of drills and they don't do as well. I think the DB workout has the most drills that fit that criteria. And also it's applicable because it's like, all right, like if you're going to play man to man, like these are the movements they're going to have to just go watch.
Starting point is 00:45:08 Like they do a lot of like really stressful movements over the course of the entire workout. And so watching all these corners and it's a talented corner class, watching all these guys go back to back to back to this afternoon is going to be a lot of fun. And I think we should just say for the record, it's arguably your best. position as an evaluator? Maybe. It's one of my favorite positions to evaluate for sure. Do we have expectations for Germad McCoy? He is not doing anything.
Starting point is 00:45:36 And I, and that's, to me, me personally, I think that's a big mistake by him. This is a player that Tours ACL after the season in 2024, did not, he was back at practice in the summer, like in training camp, then practice a little bit in the fall. but never got onto the field for a game. Had an opportunity to go to the senior bowl and said, no, that's fine. But to me, it's like you're doing that so that you can get ready for this event. Yeah. If you're not doing this, like, we're 13 months removed now at this point from surgery.
Starting point is 00:46:09 Now you're putting all your eggs in the pro day basket after not put any film out. To me, this is a big risk on his part, him and his team. So, yeah, I don't think that was the right decision personally. Interesting. All right, Fran. we look forward to following it all along with your coverage. Everybody check out the diehard draft guide. You can still get a deal for, I believe, 30% off.
Starting point is 00:46:30 Tough to beat that. Enjoy, enjoy your favorite day of workouts. Thank you, guys. We'll talk soon. Talk soon. We love you. Love you. Can't wait.
Starting point is 00:46:42 Back with more on the other side here on the PHA Y Eagles podcast. What do you know about me? Probably only one thing. Say, Bowulf, that guy? Steaking eggs guy. That's right, that's me. So if you've got time in the morning, you want to throw a filet on a hot cast iron,
Starting point is 00:46:58 you want to get that hard sear, those crispy edges, and then what are you going to do? What are you going to do, E.J.? You're going to crack an egg on top of that bad boy. Sam pan, you get that deep, yellow yolk running over the middle of the steak. It's basically its own luscious sauce.

But have you ever turned the can to read what's inside? You can't because they don't tell you most of them. And while they hide what's inside, crooked tea shouts it from the rooftops.

Smith. Up to you to figure out who is who. Like my deep yellow shirt? I was going to say deep yellow shirt. I was going to say the same thing. Now you know the minds are melding.
Starting point is 00:49:00 That's scary. We have a super chat to get to, which is really just a message for Fran from Jake Calderon. I wish we had seen this one earlier in the week. Very generous donation. He says, Fran, are you still an indie? Go to Hogies and Hopps off 42nd and Boulevard. Eagle's Nest would be honored to serve you the best. authentic cheese steak in the state.
Starting point is 00:49:24 Also, any I you guys on your radar? Omar Cooper. Constantly linked by Daniel Jeremiah to the Eagles. Yes, he is. I like Omar Cooper a lot. He was linked by me also. coined it. You were on vacation so you didn't listen to the show.
Starting point is 00:49:41 Okay. I think he'd be a listen to the show. I think he actually would be a very good fit, especially if you are keeping AJ Brown. Is it Omar Cooper or Cooper, Omar? It's Omar Cooper. Cooper is a cool name, though. I like that.
Starting point is 00:49:51 I agree. Yeah. I think he's a very good fit, especially if you're keeping AJ Brown. He is a type of player that he's that Rashid Shaheed mold, right? Like number three receiver, super explosive. Yes, you all know the famous Rashid Shahid impression? I don't know what that was. Who am I?
Starting point is 00:50:09 Rashid Shaheed, of course. That's how I run, you know? I'm like Rashid Shaheed. He's got that Rashid Shaheed to him. Do you want to talk about it? AJ Brown today? I mean, not particularly, but we should just let's let's set a clock. Okay, we got the timer here.
Starting point is 00:50:28 We're going 60 seconds on AJ Brown. We're going to start when this bad boy gets to the 22nd. Okay, you get until 25220 starting now. All right. So the inquires Jeff McLean reported that there might be like an urgency to moving on from AJ Brown because of how big of a decision it is and how much it will affect the roster building. So if something could, if something's going to.
Starting point is 00:50:51 to happen. It could happen more quickly than I think we would anticipate. He also reported that there's a chance it would be a first and a second that the Eagles are looking to receive in return for AJ Brown, but said that that's not like a hard and fast thing that the rest of the league knows. So to me, that is a huge price. I don't think that that's really realistic for the Eagles to expect. The other thing I would say, Mike Garifolo on Anthony's show this morning, said that he's now expecting AJ Brown to be back. So at this point, we'll see. You know?
Starting point is 00:51:23 Sounds like nobody knows nothing. Yeah, that is your AJ Brown update. That's all, that's all we need to know. Brought to you by your company here. Great. You don't want to talk about it anymore. You don't want to give anybody any free advertising? Like, nobody's been good to you.
Starting point is 00:51:40 Baseball. Baseball, better, better good to me. Shout out to Hetty Cup. That was brought to you by Heady Cup. There you go. Yeah. Go get some beans. Shout out to Patrick and Chelsea.
Starting point is 00:51:50 I met some sickos in the wild last week. Shout out to Patrick and Chelsea. That reminds me. You know what I've been meaning to bring up? Oh, no. Well, do you remember dear Sicko Grant who introduced himself to us at Super Bowl Meteor Row? Yes. Shout out Grant.
Starting point is 00:52:06 He was so nice. Super nice. Yeah. I felt bad because we were like so preoccupied with like. Yeah. He got a front row seat for the show that day. Yeah, he's a he's a broadcaster in San Francisco. So sicko with his friends from back home from Philly.
Starting point is 00:52:19 I met his wife at the Super Bowl a few years prior in Las Vegas. She's also in television. My take on Grant, dead ringer for Timothy Olofan. He must get that all the time. You know, I don't know. Yes, yes. When you said it, I'm like, that's that guy that looks like Grant. I mean.
Starting point is 00:52:41 Yeah. Hard to find someone who looks more like someone else. and what a compliment because you're talking about you're two incredibly attractive men. Yeah. How do you say his name, though? Timothe. Shout out to handsome grant in San Francisco.
Starting point is 00:52:56 Yeah. We should have a stack ranking of our most handsome sickos. Oh, that wouldn't be nice. It wouldn't be nice at all. Well, we're not going to do the bottom. Well, you know, now that I'm not, I guess can I still consider myself a sicko? I always tell people I was a sicko before I was on the show. I think that's stolen valor from you.
Starting point is 00:53:14 What are you talking about? You didn't listen to every episode. Every episode? I think, I mean, you did not rise to the level of sicko. You were a listener. Oh, get out of here. Get out of here. I was a sicko before you had daily episodes.
Starting point is 00:53:27 You didn't understand. There are a lot of end jokes that you didn't understand. Yeah, because, like, you're listening. You aren't always going to have every single inside joke memorize. The viewers will back me up here. There are a lot of inside jokes where you miss five minutes of one show and you don't know the inside joke for the rest of the episode. time. I think you were a listener. I do not think you wrote it's a level of sicko. Do you think
Starting point is 00:53:51 every sicko we meet listens to every minute of every show? Not every minute of every show. So that they're not sickos either? I think they're, I think they are more well versed in the lore of the show than you were. Get out of here. That's outrageous. I was totally a student. This is up to the sickos. You're going to give me like a sicko quiz? Was E.J. a sicko or not? I was totally a sicko. I think that's stolen. I was in the chat. I was in the chat. I used to chat. Whenever you said my name, I'd be like, ooh, jump scare. And everybody go, O'J's here. And it made me feel all happy. Because it made me feel like a true sicko. Yeah. See, Tim, he doesn't even know what overtime is. I don't know. I was a sick.
Starting point is 00:54:29 Nobody knows what overtime is. I was a sicker. I have a plane story for you, by the way. Okay. So flying home from Indianapolis last night, get up in the air. And I'm watching Love is blind on my iPad, just feeling great. And I didn't text my family about, like, taking off the last time that I did. So that was a Super Bowl. And they got upset with me. They were like, why didn't you tell us that you took off or landed? Like, who in the family? What were we talking? My wife, my sister and my dad. Okay. They will be very upset if they don't get the updates. Is it, is it, is that a group text? It is a group text. Yeah. So I didn't send it for some reason. I think it was the Super Bowl trip.
Starting point is 00:55:13 Whenever the last time we were on a plane was, I didn't send it. What are you laughing about? Is it a good super chat. Go ahead. From CDP. Let's read it. No, no. Filling it's your story first.
Starting point is 00:55:19 Finish your story first. Okay. This is my ADHD. I'm like, oh, let's read the super chat. Okay. So I made sure I said back by popular demand taking off and we're up up in the air and then like 10 minutes go by and I get an, I receive a text and I apologize to everybody out there that I didn't turn my phone on to airplane mode.
Starting point is 00:55:35 I, that's on me. Hand up. Is that real? I don't want to stir up any controversy here. actually get mad about. Not starting up controversy. Should have had it on airplane mode. That doesn't feel like a real thing to me.
Starting point is 00:55:47 I mean, me neither. But again, if you disagree, that's okay. Someone's going to come yell at us about that, but I don't, I don't. Yeah, that's why I just was hoping.
Starting point is 00:55:54 I think that's totally fun. Keep by on that one. So I realize, like, I'm still getting texts from my family, and we've been in the air for 10 minutes. And I look out, and we are pretty low. And then all of a sudden,
Starting point is 00:56:07 the plane does one of these. I can, we're looking right at the ground. And I'm thinking like, what's going on here? Pilot gets on, says, sorry, everybody, we're going to have to turn around and go back to the Indianapolis airport. The door is no longer reading is shut. The main cabin door was like not. Yeah, it was reading is not latched.
Starting point is 00:56:31 So therefore, they had turned the plane all the way around. We did a big circle. Wow. And we landed back in Indianapolis, the guy in front of me wakes up. He's like, man, this was a quick flight. I can't believe we're in Philly already. They may just get off the plane. Really?
Starting point is 00:56:46 Yeah, they made it on the plane because the maintenance crew. Tough draw. Maintenance crew had to come on board. And this is like me and my reporter instincts here. When we were sitting waiting for them to decide what to do on the plane, I get up and go to the bathroom. And I go to the front bathroom because the pilot's door, the cabin is open and the cockpit. And I want to hear what these guys are talking about.
Starting point is 00:57:08 And the flight attendant goes to me. Good reporting. Good reporting. Exactly. So I'm standing there because somebody else was in the bathroom and the flight attendant says to me, oh, there's a bathroom in the back. If you want to go there, I was like, I'm okay waiting. Like, I'm sitting here trying to eavesdropping.
Starting point is 00:57:24 And I couldn't make out everything they were saying, but I swear that the co-pilot said to the pilot, I would have kept going if I were you. Really? Yeah. I think you can. You can't be doing that. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:36 I was like, I was very much team pilot. I was like co-pilot. That's why you're the co-pile, respectfully. Yeah, they made us get off and then... Ooh, nice. Now they made us get off of the plane. And then, yeah, we probably sat there for like 45 minutes to an hour. We had to sit there for like an hour and then we got back on the plane and flew home.
Starting point is 00:58:00 It was a nice, like, well, no, actually it wasn't a great travel day even after that because the baggage claim was all messed up. But made it home, which is what's important. They had to pressurize the cabin. Like, I don't even know how you do that. Maybe somebody in the chat knows how that works. Like, how do you pressurize a cabin if it's on the ground, you know? Somebody will know.
Starting point is 00:58:27 Put them on the spot. That's not, that's not pressurized. Okay. Yeah. So. That's tough. That's interesting. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:37 It was, it's not. a good feeling to like do like a 30 minute flight just to get back to the gate you were at before. I did go to shake shack back though. So in during the interim? During the interim. Yeah, you earned that. That's what I told myself. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:52 That's easy internal kind of thought. Yeah. It's like if I'm going to be here. If I wasn't meant to get shade shack, we wouldn't have returned to the terminal. Yeah. Yeah. You're totally in the clear. That doesn't even count.
Starting point is 00:59:02 Exactly. Thank you for realizing that. Yeah. Absolutely. That's just a window in time that there are no rules for. Over time. Did I get that in, Lindsay? Did they hear it?
Starting point is 00:59:15 Oh, oh. I've done a little like host assisting today. Just like, you know, just some support for the host when he needs it. A little worried about did I get that in? Why are you doing this? You don't have to do this. All right, sicko. Super chat from CDP who says, E.J.
Starting point is 00:59:42 do you remember the R to the OG rap? Of course. Yes, I remember. You know what's funny? I actually have a story about this. I heard the R to the OG rap before I heard L to the OG. So I know,
Starting point is 00:59:57 Oh, that's very funny. And then when I heard L to the OG, that's the worst way to experience that. No, actually, I think it's better. I think it's better because I thought you came up with it. That's very funny. Yeah. I have always been curious
Starting point is 01:00:09 and you've kind of pushed back on this notion before. but I want you on record. Are the Ospreys not a nod to the Dundees? No. They just both happen to be like award shows where like the... I'm an award show fan. It dates back to my childhood growing up and enjoying the Oscars.
Starting point is 01:00:28 It is so much like the Dundies. Like I thought that was the point. It's not the point. Do you get what I mean, though? You understand like where I'm coming from? I understand that you can't tell the difference between two award shows, But they're both like the host is in on the, well, I guess Michael Scott wasn't in on the joke, but you are pretending not to be in on the joke.
Starting point is 01:00:52 I don't know what you're talking about. Rob Milner with a super chat. This is an interesting way to think about it, I think is a good question. Okay. Where will Howie Zieg while the league zags? That is a very good question. What is a Howie thing that he can do to go away? It's interesting because in terms of the hires they made on offense,
Starting point is 01:01:10 they very much went with the rest of the league. really just zagged. That's a good question. We could do a whole show on that. So thank you for the idea. Where would he say? What's a position that people aren't valuing as much? I mean, if Vic had retired, maybe I would have said they're going to have three
Starting point is 01:01:32 difference makers at linebacker and a coordinator that believes in making that their scheme. But obviously that's not going to be it. I mean, trading Jalen Hertz is an answer. I think trading Jalen Carter is also an answer. Yeah. Like this is a passing league. You need to have difference makers across the secondary. But I don't think that that's what he's going to do.
Starting point is 01:01:56 Man, that is a great question. I mean, this is where you could have make the argument for it, drafting another corner in the first round. So you just have three young corner. I don't think he's going to do that. I don't think so either. But that is one where it's like... In today's NFL,
Starting point is 01:02:14 there's no more important position than secondary. I don't think that's how he thinks. Maybe trade from a Trent Mcduffey. Make that like, you know, interchangeable cornerback. Load up on tight ends in the first four rounds. I think the tight end thing's going to happen. That's almost too much with the league. Yeah, I don't think that that's a zag.
Starting point is 01:02:38 Maybe drafting a kicker. Running back, like another investment in a running back. No, maybe drafting a kicker early. Gross. Yeah, I'm not saying. He's not a moron. These are dart throws that we're doing here. Yeah, but now he's not dumb.
Starting point is 01:02:52 I wouldn't say so. Drafting a kicker before the seventh round is dumb. Drafting a kicker before the fifth round is moronic. Training for Brandon Aubrey. Okay, those are interesting. Yeah, honestly, we could do a whole show. I don't know if I have a good answer. The Zags.
Starting point is 01:03:12 Yeah, well, that's the thing about the Zag is like it's hard to identify. What is the biggest trend in the league? The Dundees are the only award show you day has ever seen. That's honestly not far off. I don't watch most award shows. Yeah, so there you go. But I understand it's a nod to the Oscars. Like the name implies that.
Starting point is 01:03:33 But the SPs. Yes, but like the Dundee. So like the Dundies are ridiculous. And I think you can acknowledge like the Ospreys are ridiculous. That's for fun. It's not like you're actually. handing out awards, it's, there's, it's a comedy. Basically, it's, it's comedic, like the Dundees. You don't know what I'm talking about? No idea what you're talking about. So is it actually
Starting point is 01:04:03 based off the Dundees and you just won't say it because no. It's so like this is the only, this is your only reference point. Well, it's funny because when I had to explain it to my wife, I was like, it's kind of like the Dundies like, but for the Eagles. You keep bringing it. No, you don't know anything else. It's like, there's the everything. All of a sudden,
Starting point is 01:04:29 you start looking around. Everything is kind of like the Dundees. It's like, how often do you think about the Dundees? My kids watch the show called Odd Squad on PBS. And at the end of every episode, it's like something is something and something is, and they make no sense at all.
Starting point is 01:04:48 Yeah. And this reminds me of that. You're like, computers are Dundees. Well, I've really upset the chat by saying that the Dundees are ridiculous. I mean, I, or sorry. Yeah, this is, honestly, this has probably disqualified you as a sick-up. I thought I was a sicko until today, apparently. All right.
Starting point is 01:05:10 Aston Villa are playing right now. It's kind of like the Dundies. I mean, it kind of is in a way, because it's going to be ridiculous. I, if you are listening to this and you are one of the people who, likes to message me about Asson Villa. I don't feel great about this game. So don't even bother. They're playing wolves. They should win.
Starting point is 01:05:32 I don't think they're going to. Strength of the wolf is in the pack. Yeah, I didn't think about that. Wolves, wolf, I feel even worse now. Why? Because it's the wolf. Oh, okay. Wolves. Great job on the shirt.
Starting point is 01:05:52 Thank you. Really, it's great job, Lindsay. All Lindsay. So Lindsay, how, how out? active now is the text thread with my wife. Oh my God. We talk all the time. Non-stop. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:06:03 Constant. Okay. That's all I got. For all of us here at the PHOI Studios, we thank you for watching and listening. We will talk to Monday at 2 o'clock, back live at 2 o'clock all week next week. For Fran and Lindsay and Bo, I'm E.J. Smith. We'll talk to you later. And as always.
Starting point is 01:06:26 We love you.
