PHLY Philadelphia Eagles Podcast - With Jalen Hurts OUT, Tanner McKee Takes Over At QB for Eagles Vs. Panthers | PHLY Eagles Podcast

Episode Date: October 15, 2026

As the Eagles' season took another unexpected, and dangerous, turn Thursday with the announcement that Jalen Hurts is out with a blood clot, the short-term attention turns to Tanner McKee, who was bea...ten out by Andy Dalton for the No. 2 job in the summer only to retake the role following Dalton's ugly cameo against the Bears. What should we expect from McKee? And how do the Panthers match up with the Eagles on the other side of the ball? Fran Duffy and Bo Wulf break it down, with help from a special guest for swooper.   Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello, everybody, and welcome to the P.H.O.I. Eagles podcast, live from the XFinity Studio and presented by Toyota, Bo Wolf, Fran Duffy. We've got the Eagles Panthers game to talk about. We will have Swooper at the end with a special guest. But we've got to start with the news here, Fran. A wild turn of events as this crazy eagle season takes an even crazier turn. Jalen Hertz. out this week with a blood clot. The Eagles put out a lengthy statement, essentially going over the timeline that Jalen first reports to the team that he has a calf issue a week ago last Thursday,
Starting point is 00:00:45 said he got cleated during the Rams game. And then when they get to London, they do a precautionary ultrasound and discover a blood clot, a superficial blood clot. Yep. And they decided that he was okay to go play. They were in contact with the league, they say.
Starting point is 00:01:03 And Jalen yesterday had talked about this was a very unique situation for him. And we just thought he was talking about the calf injury. We had noticed that he didn't come out for pregame warmups. They said in the statement they say that they, you know, mobility was key. And so then they fly home. He plays in the game. And then he goes in for a second ultrasound yesterday. And they find out that the blood clot has moved.
Starting point is 00:01:29 And that means that he is now out. and who knows what happens for the near term and the medium term yeah and obviously you know the potential to be a really scary situation and anytime you hear the word blood clot uh there are a lot of different outcomes that can lead that to being a long term like really dangerous thing um without knowing like all the details of it and you know hopefully we'll be able to talk to somebody from the medical field to shed some light on it but even then like that person that individual will be like in the dark a little bit without knowing like the full prognosis because like from my understanding the word superficial that's not just like an adjective
Starting point is 00:02:07 that like the the eagles threw in this that that is like the medical term for a uh the lesser degree blood clot yeah it was a deeper vein blood clot then that that's a that's a different thing and I guess that's the concern when you hear that it moved is like I well did it move like deeper into the leg and make that because then that changes the danger I guess yeah what my understanding will be that, all right, like, if he's, if he's gonna go on blood thinners, uh,
Starting point is 00:02:36 when you're on blood thinners, you can't be, there's no contact sports. Um, so yeah, like he wouldn't be able to play. Now, are you on blood thinners for two weeks?
Starting point is 00:02:45 Are you on blood thinners for four? Is it six? Um, I guess that's up in the air. Yeah. I know, obviously we are, we are working with a complete deficit.
Starting point is 00:02:54 Yes. Of information. Of information here. And it's not just information, but knowledge. Um, this is crazy. I'm sure, you know, I'm glad, I'm glad that Jalen Hertz is in a position where he's getting this much, like, uh, medical attention.
Starting point is 00:03:10 Yes. No question. Uh, and it's, you know, they're going to be on top of it. Now, I, I would imagine that there were some, there was a lot of angst when you discover when you are abroad, that you have blood clot. And now at some point, you are going to fly, you know, fly with that blood clot because that's, that is a dangerous thing that you're worried. you know, when you have a blood clot, being in a, in a tight space, like at that elevation,
Starting point is 00:03:35 like for an extended period of time. Eight hours. If it was a two hour flight, if it was a 90 minute flight, it's like, all right, make sure you get up, make sure you're walking around. You know,
Starting point is 00:03:43 you're wearing the compression socks, like the whole deal to have that long of a flight, but I don't know, like I don't know what the other options were for, for Jalen in that situation. Take a boat home. Yeah, right. So I mean, like, you know,
Starting point is 00:03:55 I don't know, I think that they, I'm sure they weighed all the options there. but I'm sure that's not ideal either. It's a really, it is a good reminder. And it's funny just to think back to being there on Sunday and talking to Jalen after the game. And it's, you know,
Starting point is 00:04:10 all the questions about the final drive. And, you know, he's, he's sort of barking back at, you know, you don't know that I, I couldn't take that,
Starting point is 00:04:16 that zone read. Like, that wasn't, that wasn't, just like how little we actually know about what's going on with these guys. Right. Yep. Even though we just saw them play the game and you think,
Starting point is 00:04:25 you think, okay, that's the thing that I actually know about. Like, I did know what was going on in the game. but even that, you never know what's going on. It's crazy.
Starting point is 00:04:35 Yeah. Now, it's crazy that it didn't, it didn't even get discovered until Saturday in London. Yeah. You know, I, I'm sure that, I'm sure Jalen wanted to play. Right.
Starting point is 00:04:48 I don't know. It's kind of crazy. I mean, just like understanding that, so he says that he got cleaded, or he told, he told the training staff that he got cleated
Starting point is 00:04:56 when that was, what, Thursday? Yeah. I have a pro-statement. So on Thursday, he tells them they got cleated. They left Friday night, right? They left Friday night. Friday night. So they leave Friday night.
Starting point is 00:05:06 Yeah. My guess is is that it probably, like, probably didn't feel good after the flight. Yeah. So that's what led to get the ultrasound. Yeah, you're probably right. That would be, that would be my understanding. Like, my guess on that was that, yeah, he probably had that long flight and it was like, you know, what's going on here. And that's when they took the next step.
Starting point is 00:05:22 It's, I mean, aside from just hoping that Jillin's okay. Yeah. Obviously. what a wild six weeks it's been for this single season lane retires you trade cam jergins devante's been down saint guan's been down
Starting point is 00:05:38 they've had all the insane games that they've had it's nuts it's week six right it's uh yeah it's been a full season's worth of of drama is not even the right word but just of uh of action here uh in just the first few weeks of the season um yeah
Starting point is 00:06:00 I mean, there's a lot of layers to this. Obviously, the number one thing is you hope that Jalen's okay, you know, long term and that there's nothing that like long term ramifications. And a lot of that would be determined by the severity of the movement. And if it, you know, if it did become like a deep vein type of clot. And that would be the thing where I think it would be more of a long term. And that's what we've seen. There are, there are cases, ironically enough, I'm pretty sure the, the Panthers right tackle in this game. Taylor Moten, he is actually returning.
Starting point is 00:06:27 He will be playing. If he plays in this game would be his. first action coming off blood clots. Okay. He's like, but he has not played all season. Just reading a Players Tribune article that a medical friend of mine forwarded me from Pascal DuPui from the Penguins talking about what his experience was sitting out the treatment with blood clots before he then returned.
Starting point is 00:06:50 He was talking about how you have to have, no, I don't know. I don't know if these are the same kinds of blood clots. His was in his lung. How you have to have like the same. with vitamin K, it will work against the blood thinner, so you can have it, but you have to have the exact same amount every day. And it was the same thing.
Starting point is 00:07:08 Like the doctor asked him if he drinks. He's like, I'll have a couple, you know, glass or two of wine. It's like, well, you can either have nothing for six months or you can have one glass of wine every single night. It's like, you have to have the exact same. It's like, all right, I'll do that. Right.
Starting point is 00:07:23 It's crazy, man. Yeah, the one with Taylor Moten was a different. His was discovered in his lungs. as well, and that was in June. It's crazy. I mean, we're going to get to the short term. We're going to get to Tanner McKee because, boy, what a wild head spinning thing this is for him. But, you know, this materially affects Jalen's future.
Starting point is 00:07:47 Yeah. First of all, you hope that he can still play football. Correct. But if he can, you know, how does this change the Eagles calculation? I mean, there's been a, uh, There's been a lot talked about with like the salary ramifications. There's, I guess there's time to go through like the big picture stuff. But yeah, I mean, this could be a huge curveball for the Eagles that weren't expecting necessarily to face.
Starting point is 00:08:12 Let's get to some of the super chats as the reaction to this comes in hot and heavy. CNC for life. So he flew eight hours from London with a clot. Shaking my head. And the bigger one is that he flew eight hours to London with the clot because they didn't know that he had the clock. Only six there. But yeah. Yeah, right.
Starting point is 00:08:30 And they didn't even know. But to me, he flipped. So, like, to me, it was probably safe for the eight hours home. Yeah. Because they were aware of it. Yeah. Yeah. I'm sure he probably, well, no, because they weren't they trying to sleep on the flight?
Starting point is 00:08:41 They were trying. Yeah. Yeah. So he was, so that means that he probably, unless he got, for a bathroom break, wasn't getting up and moving. And that's like, I know that, that is not ideal. Now, maybe he's someone that likes to have the compression socks anyway. Some people like, you know, anytime they fly. But, yeah, that, that was not ideal.
Starting point is 00:08:58 Huh. TZ Trez with a very generous super chat. Thank you. Heal up QB1 on the football side. I hope McKee lets it rip when able so we can evaluate this offense through a different lens. I know Mannion has been frustrating
Starting point is 00:09:11 and Jalen is hesitant sometimes. Maybe we can see what changes and what doesn't. We've seen that before. It's also like, you know, it's not like they had all week to put together the 10-Bad game plan. No. I don't know how different it would be,
Starting point is 00:09:26 but. Right. I mean, if my understanding, like, it sounds like this decision, or not decision, right. So now they're like literally happened today. Yeah. You know, he practiced yesterday. Right.
Starting point is 00:09:35 So, yeah. A couple days to figure it out. Now, we did see pretty notice this was in 20, in 2024, the Tanner McKee game late in the season. Yeah. That was like, oh, yeah, they ran a bunch of under center play action. Yeah, that's true. It was a different field that, you know, so if you're someone that is expecting it to look a little different, yeah, my guess is it'll look a little different. David Tomei says at what point does Siriani get a mulligan for this season
Starting point is 00:10:00 given the chaos that has been out of his control wild six weeks to start the year it's a valid valid question it's a real now a lot of that might be determined by like all right like when as all this chaos is unfolding does the team continue to play the way yeah for sure like do they can and I my expectation is that they would that they would still see them play hard yeah um all right most of the rest of the superchats seem to be McKee related. Okay. So let's pivot there for now.
Starting point is 00:10:32 Boy, Tanner McKee, if you think about how much has changed over the course of two years, the game you talked about, he plays that game against the Giants a couple of years ago and looks really good. Yep. And you're thinking, okay, not only do the Eagles have their backup quarterback on a rookie deal, but this is a guy who we've,
Starting point is 00:10:49 our understanding is, you know, they were fielding phone calls, teams offering something like a third round pick, maybe even a second round pick to get his services. And then he has one bad game at the end of last year. And all of a sudden, the Eagles do not seem to be as high on Tanner McKee. They make to trade for Andy Dalton.
Starting point is 00:11:06 They go through the whole off-season rigamarole of having them split reps and they're splitting reps and they're splitting reps and they're splitting reps up all the way up until mid-week, week one. Dalton wins the job despite not looking great to us. Not that McKee looked great over the summer either. Right. Dalton has the cameo, one throw, one interception in the red zone against the bears,
Starting point is 00:11:28 and all of a sudden he's demoted, he's gone. My guess is he'll be back on the practice squad or something like that. And now it's Tanner McKee, and it's his chance. He's going to have a bit of a leash here, I would imagine, to go out and show the Eagles, show the league, what he can do. But he's playing behind a pretty beleaguered offensive line. He's probably going to be without Sequin and Devante. it could be ugly
Starting point is 00:11:54 it could be a pleasant surprise I don't know just a crazy thing for him yes very much so you know the the thing with trying to evaluate Tanner McKee
Starting point is 00:12:05 like in the in the course over the course of the summer it's like all right that's preseason like who's around him like that kind of thing but there's no getting around it like he didn't look great
Starting point is 00:12:13 and it was practiced and in the end the preseason games and so I would say that he probably looked that he looked better than Dalton over the course of the summer that's how that's how My eye saw it, but, uh, there were at least some flashes, you know.
Starting point is 00:12:26 Yes. Yeah. Right. Um, but they didn't do it many favors with how the, how that whole thing was handled. We talked about it in the moment. We talked about it a lot. Uh, and sometimes we talk about a lot of these things. And it's like, oh, yeah, that it turned into nothing.
Starting point is 00:12:38 But this one turned out. Yeah. Like that all the reps that he could have gotten. Yes. If he was just, you're the backup quarterback. Correct. And they now doesn't have. So let's get to some of the super chats on, on the McKee front.
Starting point is 00:12:50 Yeah. Uh, Corricito. Time for how to. bring Carson Wentz home. Let's find out who's really the blame for the offense. Santiago. This is a very happy day for Santiago. Says,
Starting point is 00:13:00 prayers up for Hertz, but excited to see McKing rule. Desh. Do we think Jeff Kemp, Brad Gable, or Pat Ryan is available? Shout out all fans of the 1991 birds. Tizi Trez. I think I speak with the fans when I say
Starting point is 00:13:15 if McKee goes out for some reason. Quarterback two, Cole Payton. Quarterback three, former quarterback Eli Stowers emergency quarterback wildcat with our RB4 no more Dalton no matter what
Starting point is 00:13:28 Stowers did I do agree with that come off we'll see I'd rather see Willie Lampkin a quarterback than Andy Dalton that'd be fun I wonder remember like Isaac Sopalaga could like throw it like 90 yards
Starting point is 00:13:40 like I wonder how far Willie Lampkin could throw football I was I you know what when Lane retired I found oh yeah the the old Eagles Beakley episode of you me CMA
Starting point is 00:13:51 and young Lane Johnson. We're all looking like babies. Everybody all look after. The Sopawaga thing came up in that conversation. Did it really? Yeah. Lane still on the roster too. Still on the roster.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Maybe this is what I'll get him to come back. Go Birds XTL, good reminder to become a diehard to access the draft guide. Oh. Thank you. That's right. Looking at a top 10 pick all of a sudden. My, I'll be putting a video, ironically enough.
Starting point is 00:14:18 I recorded it this morning. It's like all looking at the quarterbacks for for the Saturday. Like all the matchup. Heath Bird's fan from Cali. Rest time for a clot is two to six weeks. And Tanner McKee can't carry the team. Trade for a quarterback, Howie.
Starting point is 00:14:33 Absolutely not. You cannot do that. There's no way he does that. Let's figure out. When we come back to break, I'm going to tell you what quarterback he would trade for if he had to try for a quarterback. Maybe Philip Rivers will come back.
Starting point is 00:14:51 That would make Ben happy. Yeah, right. Dinkleberg. If Tanner McKee throws an interception on his first pass, do you think they bench him for Cole Payton? That'd be fun to have two guys in a one pass step for one interception. Probably not. All right.
Starting point is 00:15:10 We're going to counter our breath here. Take our first break on the PHA YGO show. On the other side, we'll talk a little bit more about this, obviously. We'll get into the Eagles Panthers matchup, which is obviously completely changed its shape. get to swooper in a little bit, maybe have a special guest.

I think if I had to pick one, it would be crazy given the,
Starting point is 00:17:50 hoarding of the quarterback position for them to then have to make a trade. Yes. You're going to say, oh, go ahead. I don't think that they would give him up. Bengals? No. I thought you were going to say Flaccoe. I was going to say Drew Locke because of the Sean Bannonian connection.
Starting point is 00:18:10 I don't think that they'd give him up. With Darnal, yeah. I think my actual answer is Minshu. He's in Arizona. He's in Arizona. And that's actually, Carson Beck is the backup. Yeah. as the number three right you know that's not about that's not a bad there's no way they can do that
Starting point is 00:18:26 the only way you do that is six a six for a seven a six for a seventh for a seven for garner minchoo the only way you do it is if you if you're not if dalton's like i'm not coming back yeah that would be funny though that would that would i would i mean i'll tell you what at one point andy dalton kind of made it clear as far as i'm concerned that he didn't want to be on a practice squad right i don't know they're gonna you're kind of funny for him to just be like, no, I'm good here.
Starting point is 00:18:56 Will they just add them back to the 53? Just because. Well, right, that could. Right. We do have breaking Eagles news, though. Okay.
Starting point is 00:19:06 Yeah. Are you ready for this? Yeah, light on me. The Eagles have signed running back Ian Wheeler to the practice squad. Ian Wheeler. I got nothing there.
Starting point is 00:19:16 Wow. Yeah, I got nothing on that one. Ian Wheeler. SMU. Born September 15th, 2001. Okay.
Starting point is 00:19:25 went to Howard Howard. Howard. Undrafted in 2024. Wow. Where's he been? Cup of coffee with the Bears, the Saints, the Louisville Kings,
Starting point is 00:19:33 and the Buffalo Bills. Studied psychology. You're in Louisville. Yeah. At Louisville. Louisville. Yeah. Studied psychology at Howard.
Starting point is 00:19:42 Okay. Although he was accepted into the Howard University College of Medicine, oh. He deferred enrolling to play in the NFL. So maybe that's why he's here in a practice squad. They need a new set of eyes
Starting point is 00:19:54 on this. dealing hurts situation. They don't trust their medical staff bringing Ian Wheeler. Yeah. It's all coming together. Wheels.
Starting point is 00:20:05 Wheeling and dealing. Fresh Prince with the Super Chan says all of our thoughts and prayers are with Hertz. How good is Jeremiah Smith? Is he good enough to make the Eagles want to throw the ball field more?
Starting point is 00:20:18 Not getting that high. Yeah. Is he good enough to change the Eagles offense? Yeah. They're not getting that high. Nicky loves music. on Herbert. Worst case scenario,
Starting point is 00:20:27 Madison Beer becomes a birds fan. That's probably worst case scenario. Considering how things have gone with the Chargers. Would you trade the whole 2028 coffer, the two first, two seconds for Justin Herbert? For Justin Herbert? No. I don't think so. Okay. Without thinking about it.
Starting point is 00:20:52 I'm not putting any thought to this. This is crazy. Yeah, it's nuts. Man, all right, let's close the book on What's Brewing, presented by Wawa. Anything else on this wild quarterback news front that you think is worth getting to? No, I mean, still obviously like kind of like letting it all sink in, but a huge ramifications. And we'll see what the severity is in the coming days and weeks, but I mean, my guess is that we're not going to see him for a few weeks Whether it's yeah, I don't know if this would go if this would be an NFI or if this would be injured reserve and then like what the differences are in terms of like when you can then activate them off of that
Starting point is 00:21:43 Yeah, crazy crazy We'll see you this week if there's any thought about like I well, you know what What the offense could look like I guess this week might be a little bit harsh to say just because of the short turnaround but by the time we get to next week and they'll have a long week next week preparing for Monday night football
Starting point is 00:22:00 we'll see what it looks like against Dallas got Josh Johnson on the Bengals practice squad your boy you were very impressed with him in the preseason well maybe the Eagles will just trade for Case Keenham geez
Starting point is 00:22:17 I'm just checking one more thing on the practice squads here NFC practice squads no you don't want him who's that Sam Hartman great head of hair great head of hair
Starting point is 00:22:29 Keaton Slovis of course interesting many more many more practice squad quarterbacks in the AFC
Starting point is 00:22:37 than the NFC Easton Stick oh the more likely of the former North Dakota state quarterbacks to end up yeah
Starting point is 00:22:45 that's it okay here's the football question if you did have a full week to put a game plan together for Tanner McKee how different would you expect
Starting point is 00:22:55 like what are the differences you would expect to see in a Tanner McKee Sean Manion offense honestly because we just we literally just talked about on Tuesday how you know you're hearing some of the the whispers of like oh
Starting point is 00:23:09 they're just doing what Sean Manion wants to do so I don't think that there will be like huge changes I guess these subtleties and this would be just kind of revealing would be like all right today are there fewer of the hitch and curls and more crossers
Starting point is 00:23:26 that kind of deal? So, you know, and that might seem you know, that might not seem as evident while we're watching where it's like, oh man, like a ton of crossers today versus what we normally see, but it might just bear out numbers wise. But it's, you know, like they're already like
Starting point is 00:23:41 a lot of compressed formations, you know, you'll see if it's more like under center and play action. But the same issues that Jalen faced, Tanner's going to have to face. Tanner just doesn't escape the way that Jalen does. And so he's going to have to get out of trouble, get out of Dodge a little bit in a different way than what Jalen has done.
Starting point is 00:23:58 I do really enjoy moments like this when we get just, you know, people in the chat being like, well, I had a blood cloud for, I had a blood cloud. I was on medication for three months. Yeah. Just, you know, let's bring in all the information.
Starting point is 00:24:12 Yeah. It's crazy. Look, I'll, I'll stop. Yeah, it's pretty crazy. Yeah, that's, okay. Let's talk a little bit about this matchup. And let's stay on this side of the ball. All right.
Starting point is 00:24:28 Panthers defense-wise, they're down their top two corners. Yes. Where would you just start in the macro gameplay without getting specific about McKee? What do we need to know? Yeah, I think the big thing, and this is an Agero-Evro defense,
Starting point is 00:24:45 who is a, this is a Vic Fangio protege. So this is the first time the Eagles are faced. first time in two weeks, so they'll be facing somebody with, you know, that comes from Fangio's tree. So it's a lot of the same things that we've come to expect from a Vic Fangio defense. The one difference, though, is that they blitz a lot. And it's a lot of zone blitzes. They are actually blitzing at the second highest rate in the NFL, only behind Brian Flores. Then Flores is playing like a different sport right now.
Starting point is 00:25:11 So with how often they're pressuring. That said, they did lose both of their corners in week three. So Mike Jackson and J.C. Horn both out for this game. So what that meant last week is that they started and last week, meaning their last game in week four, they're coming off a buy. They started a rookie day three pick in Willie the third. Big, tall, not the best athlete. You can get him over the top. He's competitive.
Starting point is 00:25:39 He'll contest throws. He's got the ability to make some plays on the ball. But you can get after him. And then Caleb Evans got the start. he's kind of like a journeyman, you know, a young veteran journeyman who's kind of bounced around a little bit,
Starting point is 00:25:53 but kind of like a Rizul Douglas from a skill set standpoint. So both corners are like tall, long disruptors, but you can create some separation against those guys. So honestly, my first key to the game was win these matchups in the perimeter. And if Devante Smith's out there, you feel a little bit better about that,
Starting point is 00:26:08 but that should be the first thing. News from the practice field. News from the practice field. No, Devante, no Sequin. So it does not look good that we're going to see Devonte then. Yeah. For sake one, obviously. The obvious question with Will Lee is...
Starting point is 00:26:21 Willie or Willie or won't he? My guess is that he... And we're talking about him covering... Being able to cover Darius Cooper one-on-one, I would say won't he? Yeah. Will Lee Lampkin. We'll find out. Super chat from Rob Milner.
Starting point is 00:26:41 To help fund a new stadium, did Jeffrey agree to have an electrical substation built under the Jefferson complex that we don't know about? I don't believe so. Wouldn't rule it out. It's a good theory. Yeah. All right. What's a matchup number,
Starting point is 00:26:53 flight key to victory number two? Be ready to beat the zone blitz. You know, in that, look, that has been, it's been an issue for Jalen Hertz over the last few years.
Starting point is 00:27:04 So coming in, I was like, all right, like this is something that we'll definitely see from Evereau. My guess is that we'll still see that this week
Starting point is 00:27:10 because you have an inexperienced quarterback coming in. And so like, all right, we're going to try and throw some different looks at them. They've got guys the same.
Starting point is 00:27:17 second and third level. They went and signed Devin Lloyd in free agency this year. They went and signed Bobby O'Carike from the New York Giants when the Giants moved on from him. Those have been the two starting linebackers. Trevon Merrig, it was a safety they signed from the Raiders last off season. He's kind of moved all around the formation. He plays as basically like their Cooper de Jean in their nickel package, but then he kicks
Starting point is 00:27:37 down as the dime linebacker when they go to dime. They play a decent amount of dime. They rush them off the edge. They blitz them from the second level. So these are the things you're going to see if you're Tanner McKee. you're going to see those zone pressures. The big key is understanding where your answers are, making sure that you have an idea,
Starting point is 00:27:54 like from a protection standpoint, like this is a little bit different than like the pressures that we saw from the Jaguars and from the Rams, because a lot of that was more like man coverage on the back end. This is more similar to what we saw against like Chicago where you have, you know, T.J. Edwards buzzing out, you know, after lining up in the A gap and then buzzing out late.
Starting point is 00:28:12 So just being aware of who's rushing, who's not, and then where your safety valve is to try and burn the blitz. Key number three. Key number three. McKee number three. Yes, McKee number three. We talked Tuesday about the Eagles obsession with the condensed formations. When the Eagles lineup condensed,
Starting point is 00:28:36 defenses stack the box. And the next gen's next gen stats, their definition of stack the box means eight plus defenders. So when the Eagles lineup condensed, defense is stacked the box. the box at the third highest rate in football compared to when everybody else goes condensed. So teams are more willing to stack the box when the Eagles line up that way more than your typical team.
Starting point is 00:28:56 Well, from a stacked box, again, eight plus defenders, the Panthers defense has the second best defensive success rate this year against the run. So when they've got seven or fewer defenders in the box, they're like middle of the road. It spikes up. It's actually like a really large jump. So my key number three is this is a spread to run type of opponent. If you're going to go, like, week to week and say like, oh, we're going to adjust
Starting point is 00:29:19 based off of what the other defense does well and what they don't do well and that kind of thing. They defend the run really well when they load the box. So I would imagine it would behoove the Eagles who have struggled to run the ball to not want them to load the box. So I think this is a spread run game type of.
Starting point is 00:29:34 It's a funny one where, although they were splitting reps, there's probably more continuity with like, more of the, these guys have worked together over the summer, they would have if it was Jalen. Like, that's a good point.
Starting point is 00:29:49 McKee's been in the back field with Pierce. He's played behind Lampkin and Kendall and Markle Bell. He's thrown to Darius Cooper and, uh, he's got these other guys. Like he's worked with these guys more than Jalen Hertz has. I think I just like, you like even just saying that like the names that are out there.
Starting point is 00:30:05 It's crazy. If you look at the starting lineup from week one and then look at it right now, like, it's been six weeks. That's nuts. So honestly, when you factor in what I just brought up with like, zone pressures and knowing that hey like when we go condensed teams like to load the box and the
Starting point is 00:30:20 panthers are really good at loading the box kind of merging those two keys together when you have all that inexperience out in the field to me this was like it's even more like maybe lean a little bit less into that unless he just think that like hey Tanner is just going to execute the hell out of this offense yeah i don't know that it's like that that's going to be the skeleton key to fix it all I don't necessarily feel that way. What I think what I expect is, and Eagles fans are not going to like this, more of those like quick screens.
Starting point is 00:30:50 Yeah. That's what I'm, I'm expecting that to be the way they try to run the ball. Yeah. I mean, that are like more Carson Steele. Yeah. Well, he's injured.
Starting point is 00:31:01 Steele's injured? Steele's injured. I can't even keep up. I think. I think she got injured. Shipley got hurt. I think still got injured at the end of the game. too really am i wrong i think so hold on that's why they sign there's no way for that for us to know this
Starting point is 00:31:19 i'm pretty sure he left the game hmm all right might could be wrong all right gotta take a break oh hold on we got we got close at our on this side of the ball ah your lark horse player uh princely uman yellen uh the second year edge rusher uh for the carolina panthers pure speed guy uh They drafted him in the third round last year coming out of Ole Miss. And so our friend, Brandon Thorne, does a great job of charting offensive line and defensive line play around the NFL. And one thing that he does on a weekly basis, he goes through and watches most of the sacks in the NFL in any given week.
Starting point is 00:31:58 And he will chart like high quality sacks, quality sacks, like just kind of saying like, all right, who are the guys that maybe luck into some pressures and some sacks? And then who doesn't like, who's really getting after it from a pass rush standpoint? I want to make sure I read off this correctly. Brandon Thorne charts those high quality pressures. Uman Mielan has one of the best snaps per high quality pressure rates in the league. So he's getting a lot of quality pressures versus not a lot of snaps. So that's the spot player to kind of watch.
Starting point is 00:32:28 He rushes off both tackles. This would be a big test for Markell Bell, just knowing like Markell Bell's like physical limitations. From like a explosiveness and from a bend standpoint, that's where Umamielan could get them. So third and long, like not only worried about the zone pressures, but as we've talked about, when you have those overload blitzes, that makes, everybody's got to be one-on-one.
Starting point is 00:32:49 Like, you've got to win your matchups as well. It's not just about the unblocked defender, but everybody else is one-on-one. Markeld Bell against Uman-Mieland-Mieland is a matchup to watch. Okay. And then your stat. And the stat, the next 10 stat. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:05 Man, I'm pretty sure I saw Carson still getting worked on on the sideline. Maybe he didn't leave the game. Yeah. But nearly half the Eagles runs this year, 49% of their runs, the ball carriers hit behind the line of scrimmage. Oh, man. So I went and looked and I was like, all right, like, where is that, like, over the last several years? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:27 The Browns had a worst rate last year over the course the entire season. They were at 50% over the entire season, which is just brutal. And then they remade their entire offensive line this offseason. The Eagles are second Over the last I went to like since like COVID They're like fourth since 2020 Okay So you dip back to like the whole next gen era
Starting point is 00:33:49 They're like somewhere in the top 10 It's obviously a small sample But it's bad It's a really bad number The Panthers only make contact Behind the line of scrimmage on 29.3%. That's fifth worst in the NFL So it is very much a movable force
Starting point is 00:34:03 versus a stoppable object still though you want to spread them out when they are when they're able to load the box they've had a lot of success in stopping the run so bottom line bottom line this is a defense that you should be able to move the ball on especially with the injuries on the outside correct but they've got some places they can take advantage of yeah this is a defense that over the the course of this regime like when dave canales has been head coach uh with ever oh as the defensive coordinator by the way like this will be a theme on the other side i will give a lot of credit to to the Panthers and honestly to an owner that doesn't deserve it. I don't think David Tepper has like been a beacon of, you know, bright leader leadership and stewardship down there. But I will give them credit for sticking with this staff and not like forcing to rock the boat.
Starting point is 00:34:50 There's been a lot of continuity. And I do think when you watch that unfold this year, they're getting their best football right now. This is the best this Panthers team has looked on both sides. And defensively, they present you a lot of problems. And they've, look,
Starting point is 00:35:02 they put a lot of money into that unit. You know, Jalen Phillips is over there. We know what he can bring to the table. He's doing a lot against the run. They're doing a lot with him dropping in coverage on some of these exchange blitzes. We know what he can do as a rusher. But they've been drafting pretty well.
Starting point is 00:35:15 They've got some talent at all three levels. They're dealing with injuries on the back end. But it's a formidable test. It's a good test for Tanna McKee. Okay. Take a break. On the other side, talk about the other side of this matchup, where the Eagles defense has a chance.
Starting point is 00:35:30 Going up against the Panthers offense has been top 10. in the league what are they doing well find out next rise and shine wake up you're a pretty little head because wah-was five dollar sizzly meal is worth skipping this news button for here's how it works pick your favorite sizzly bacon sausage egg and cheese whatever gets you moving then add a crispy hash brown and grab your drink of choice hot coffee ice coffee coke if you want to start the day that way however you like it mixed and the best part? Starting point is 00:37:39 Back in the Pitchell Angles podcast, Bo and Fran on a wild day, Jalen Hertz ruled out with a blood clot. Extremely wide range of outcomes could be out for a couple weeks, could be the end of his season. Crazy.
Starting point is 00:37:54 If you're just joining us and you want a quick snapshot on the Eagles' offense against the Panthers defense, we'll send it over to France. So three big keys to victory here for the Eagles when you're going up against this Panthers defense. Number one, take advantage of some of the mismatches on the perimeter of the Panthers starting their two backup outside corners with the two starters on injured reserve. Number two, you got to be ready to burn the zone blitz.
Starting point is 00:38:19 The Panthers are sending zone blitz as the second highest rate in the NFL. So you've got to understand how to protect against those disguised rushers. Who is rushing? Who is dropping in coverage and where are your answers? That will be up to Tanner McKee in this game. And then the third one, the Panthers are really good at loading the box and stuffing the run when they've got eight plus defenders inside. So this is a big spread to run game for me if you're the Eagles. You want to make sure that you try and keep those defenders out of the box and then try and take advantage of some advantageous number counts from a run game standpoint.
Starting point is 00:38:49 We'll see if the Eagles are able to win some matchups. But those would be my three keys to victory here for the Eagles in this matchup. Now you see what he just did there is that's going to get clipped. He just nailed that. Check that on your social media. Soon to come soon to be on your on your timeline. All right. Let's talk about the other side of the ball.
Starting point is 00:39:08 Bryce Young playing the very high level. It's so cool like because I think he's just like I think everybody likes Bryce Young. Yeah, it's the same as Willie Lampton. You see a guy that little you want to you want him to do well. Yeah, uh, Philly native. That's right. Philly native. What was it that way?
Starting point is 00:39:23 That way. Somewhere somewhere over that way. Dude, he's playing awesome and it's great to say. I always like it too when a guy that got high expectations. He's number one pick. And he's, you know, and like the,
Starting point is 00:39:36 to see like the resurgence and a guy bounced back from that, he gets benched multiple times. And to see him bounce back and play the way that he's playing right now is awesome. And so the number one thing for me that stands out is he's just playing with so much confidence. I would say when you're looking at this Panthers offense,
Starting point is 00:39:52 I remember when Canales first got hired, I didn't know a ton about him. Because he came, he came from Seattle and he was an assistant Seattle under P. Carroll for forever. And it was like, Like he played different roles and he got hired by Tampa and he was there for one season. Different positions, you could say. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:08 Some might say. Yeah. So, yeah, he got, for one year of Tampa is the offensive coordinator. And so like I watched a lot of like his opening press conferences and the media availability just to kind of get an understanding of, okay, okay. Like, what is this guy about? And so often it was like run past balance. Like we want to, it's not just like marriage of running past, but like we want to be a very balanced football team. We want to take the load off the quarterback.
Starting point is 00:40:31 we don't want it to be, you know, we want everything to be as like, for the defense to think like run pass on every single down. And that's the way that they have played over the course of time, but they haven't been getting that great quarterback play as Bryce Young was kind of coming along. Now that he is playing really well, they are both efficient and explosive.
Starting point is 00:40:49 Like they're attacking down the field. The one big change. So this was a big talking point down there. Canales actually gave up play calling this off season. So you handed over to Brad Idzik, who has been with him this entire, time. So Idzik is now the play caller and the only really big change is that they went from a very static offense where they didn't really move guys around. Tetero McMillan almost always in the
Starting point is 00:41:12 outside. Well now it's a lot more shifting, a lot more motions and they're moving guys around more than they did a year ago. And so that's the big change, you know, philosophically with this offense is that guys are on the move more often. They're taking advantage of these matchups and then Bryce Young is just He's playing really well. He's playing really well. I almost went in overtime there. We got a couple doctors. Oh, a couple.
Starting point is 00:41:36 In the chat now. Okay. First, UT Swim, doctor here. DVT, if deep, it can dislodge to the lung and become a pulmonary embolism, which is life-threatening. They'll need to be on a blood thinner for three to six months, if deep. And then the other doctor says the concern with the superficial blood clot is that it becomes a deep blood clot. If it stays just superficial,
Starting point is 00:42:00 then it can be treated with a little more quickness. Now, what I don't know the answer to is when you, and maybe if the doctors are still in the chat, if they can help us here, if it's diagnosed as a superficial blood clot on Saturday. Right. And the change of it, or the danger of it changing to a DVT,
Starting point is 00:42:21 to a deep vein issue after like taking a big hit, or if he got his leg stepped on. like that. Like, what are they, what is, what is the risk there? My guess,
Starting point is 00:42:31 look, they, they, they, they, they, they, they had those conversations.
Starting point is 00:42:37 Um, and maybe it was like, hey, like these, this is the probability. Like, Jalen, what do you want to do?
Starting point is 00:42:41 Like, but I don't know. That's what I don't know. Yeah. Yeah. If you've seen one blood clot, you've seen one blood clot. I don't think that's the case.
Starting point is 00:42:54 Oh, if you've seen one, you've seen one. Yeah, sorry, I didn't listen to the second part of it. that's okay I've phased out uh if you're curious what the markets think of this I was not thinking which is in terms of the other so this game opened at Eagles minus one and a half right over the course
Starting point is 00:43:10 of a couple days it moved to yesterday Panthers minus one and a half when yesterday I wonder I think not well I think it was actually before it was when I was doing the BG show so the injury report had not even come out yet got it okay and now it's moved an extra two points now Panthers minus three and a half Jalen only worth two points according to Vegas. I wonder if it'll move even more. Yeah. All right. Let's move on on the
Starting point is 00:43:34 Panthers offense. Yeah. The big thing, you gotta stop the deep ball against this team right now. The Panthers are coming off the bye week. As I mentioned earlier. Go Europe and still play a team
Starting point is 00:43:48 coming off a buy. Yeah. Three weeks in a row. They got that. So coming off the buy, Bryce Young still is tied for the lead in the NFL in deep ball completions. He's fifth in average air yards per attempt, 9.6. But he's especially aggressive when Jalen Coker is available. And so I actually had some numbers on that.
Starting point is 00:44:08 It was like when Cobra is on the field, which he's been banged up for a good chunk of the year. When he is out there, like the average air yards per attempt is like over 10. And when he is not on the field, it's like under seven. Coker should be available for this game. So yeah, bombs away. I think if you are Bryce Young and the Panthers. Do you think there is any thought for Vic
Starting point is 00:44:30 of having Quinnian follow McMillan? Or he's too happy with just having those guys play sides? I don't think so. Only because Tetharo McMillan is, I mean, honestly, both guys are big. Yeah. And, dude, Coker is, he's good. He's a good player.
Starting point is 00:44:47 So I don't think it's like a... There's not enough of a Delta? Yeah, I think McMillan is... McMillan's probably better. They're a little bit different in that. But Coker's really good. Okay. You know what Coker?
Starting point is 00:44:58 Coker kind of reminds me of Adam Thielen. I think like the undrafted, Thielen was more of a long shot because he was like rookie camp, like tryout and like took a couple of years. Like Coker kind of, he made it as an undrafted free agent and right away like showed flashes. Well, it was in this matchup two years ago when when Thielen was given Cooper to June the business. Yeah. Coker, he's big. He looks, he moves well.
Starting point is 00:45:23 I was lower on him in college because I was like oh like I don't think he moves all that well I gave him like a backup grade coming out of Holy Crossed good route runner catches everything it's like Thielen too where you're watching him and he's like oh he moves well but like oh how big is he he's like oh he's six two he's a good player and McMillan I talk about how they're moving him into the slot more often that's actually kind of a sneaky matchup in this game is especially on third down like Cooper dejean and McMillan yeah it's you got to deal with those two guys and then on third down they like to put Darren Waller in the game and he basically just like it's like third down red zone Darren Rallar goes out there so you've got like three really big targets for Bryce Young to be able to throw two all three guys have good size and have the ability to impact all three levels so it's a tough match out I like the aesthetics of that yeah little quarterback with a bunch of big yes monsters yeah that's that's kind of fun all right what's key number three um well actually so yeah key number two uh stop the run with a light box uh so kind of going the opposite to what we talked about off
Starting point is 00:46:23 All the efficiency metrics point to the Panthers being like a middle of the road rushing attack, but their success rate is actually pretty poor and one of the worst in the league when they go up against light boxes, especially when the other teams in nickel. So, you know, when they're running out of 11 personnel and the other teams in nickel defense, that's just so happens to be that's exactly how the Eagles play. They're going to play more often than not. So the Eagles play in light boxes defensively more than any team in football and they're in 11 per, they're in nickel defense more than basically anybody.
Starting point is 00:46:53 So yeah, this should play into the eagle's hands, but you have to kind of maintain that. If you are able to make them one dimensional, that's certainly that plays in your favor every single week. So that's not like rocket science, but keep doing what you're doing is essentially that is. Don't let that rushing attack bust off explosives because they want to be efficient,
Starting point is 00:47:13 but don't give up those big chunk games. Yeah, I mean, that should be, as you say, something that they can handle. Yes, I think so. Yeah, I think so. Okay, key number three. collapse the pocket around Brace Young. When I'm watching,
Starting point is 00:47:28 so he has been under duress for a good chunk of this year. And we talk about like pressure rates and things like that. And sometimes like pressure rate is like, oh, like a guy got pressured, but that's more on the quarterback or that's more on the coverage. There's a lot of quick pressure when you're watching the when you're watching the Carolina Panthers.
Starting point is 00:47:44 And so many of these quick pressure, sometimes it's like an unblocked guy coming off the edge. But a lot of it has been that entire. And this is like from left to right, a lot of bull rushes. And so to me, this is a game where I want all those guys, everywhere along that Eagles defensive line, like get the long arms out, like the straight bullrass, speed to power.
Starting point is 00:48:05 They are giving up so much ground with the bull rushes. And so that would be something to watch here against it. And typically when you're going up against a smaller quarterback, you want to like collapse the pocket, like make the small guy like in confined space, like make them claustrophobic. Here's what I'll say. Actually, this gets into right into the next.
Starting point is 00:48:22 next 10 stat. Bryce Young has faced a quick pressure rate of 21.6% this year per next-gen stats. That's the third highest in the NFL. When I look at all the other teams that are like facing that quick pressure, it's like it usually is negatively affects the quarterback. And we talked about that with Trevor Lawrence. We talked about that with Matthew Stafford.
Starting point is 00:48:40 He's like, oh, you pressure them. Those success rates all go down. With Bryce Young, it's not the opposite. He's got the, the Panthers have the fourth highest success rate against quick pressure. They're facing a ton of it. And Bryce Young is just like, I go back and I just literally just let me just watch all the plays where it's quick pressure. They define quick pressure as two and a half seconds or less.
Starting point is 00:49:02 Quick decisions, understanding where to go. Sometimes it's like, oh, you know, pressure is coming this way. Like here's my outlet. But then sometimes he can escape. Sometimes he's stepping up. Sometimes he's stepping back. Sometimes he's sidestead. Like he's just playing.
Starting point is 00:49:14 He's playing awesome. I had a lot of fun studying Bryce Young yesterday. But he's not putting the ball in harm's way. The quick pressure is not getting to him, but you want to, you want to pressure. You still want to do it anyway. You got to get to him.
Starting point is 00:49:28 You got to try and try and get him to the ground. Who's got the best bull rush on this defensive line? I mean, the one, Jalen Carter, after, I would say Nolan would be the other guy I would look at. So yeah,
Starting point is 00:49:41 I would say that right side of that line, you know, they got Monroe Freeling, who I know, got banged up last week. But it sounds like he might not go, but they're also, ironically like I mentioned earlier
Starting point is 00:49:53 that Tyler Moten it sounds like we'll be back in there so but they've been like Damien Lewis was out for a bit they had backup guards in there but even when Lewis was in like he wasn't holding up great they gave a lot of money to Robert Hunt a couple years ago like he hasn't been all that great this year so it's been a little bit tough sledding for that
Starting point is 00:50:09 offensive line under the radar player Darren Waller and I mentioned that kind of the role there because he's like if you go to their depth chart it's like oh he's like third or fourth in the depth chart but it's essentially all right when we get into money downs we got to have it plays
Starting point is 00:50:24 we want Darren Waller out there all those other guys in that tight end room are kind of the auxiliary kind of blockers Waller's the guy that they want to kind of focus be a focal point in the past game kind of the stat to watch it would be the quick pressure one
Starting point is 00:50:39 that's the yeah hit on that now if you had to synthesize all of that into the 30 to 45 second synopsis Like a short, like a short mean, like, yeah, how would you do it? Yeah, I would say that if you look at the keys to victory here for this Eagles team going up against the Carolina Panthers offense. Number one, you want to be able to stop the deep ball.
Starting point is 00:51:01 Bryce Young has been extremely aggressive down the field to those oak trees he's got on the outside with Teteroa McMillan and Jalen Koker, Darren Waller running down the scene. Number two, you've got to stop the run from a light box. The Panthers have kind of been a middle of the road run team over the course of the season, but their efficiency numbers really drop when you defend the run from a light box out of nickel defense and it just so happens that's what the Eagles do more often than not. So the Eagles have to keep checking that box here
Starting point is 00:51:26 against this team, force them to play behind the sticks, take them out of their comfort zone. And then number three is that you want to be able to collapse the pocket around Bryce Young, especially with those bull rushes. Trying to keep him in the pocket, make him start to feel claustrophobic. This offensive line is very getable from left to right
Starting point is 00:51:42 and especially against the bull rush. That would be something to watch here from this Eagles defensive front in this game. Did pretty good job. Try. There we go. All right. Take our last break on the P.H.O.I.

Starting point is 00:54:10 What? I was talking with Lindsay. Francis, so we watch Big Brother on CBS. And the recent season just ended a couple weeks ago. Francis is he loves the show. He wants to go on it when he gets older, is obsessed with it. And I tried to not do this,
Starting point is 00:54:32 but he wants to watch old seasons. So we like started watching it. It's the first season I ever watched. It's from like the summer of 2010. Okay. And so rewatching it, I'm like, man, like they let, They let some things go on on TV. They were, I'm like, yeah, that would not fly today.
Starting point is 00:54:50 So it's happened like every episode where I'm like, in terms of everything. Like literally like there were a few things where I'm like, I'm looking, take a look over a bag like, just not as buttoned up. Okay, all right. Good for Francis. He loves it.
Starting point is 00:55:11 Couple super chats to catch up on here. Anthony. Makes blowing the Rams and Jags game feel worse. Valid? Yeah, but also, you know, what if they hadn't gotten the first two? Right, yeah. If they had just gotten one of those two games,
Starting point is 00:55:30 you know what I mean? Yeah. Unless, look, if you're one of the, if you're a fan that keeps the big picture in mind, yes, exactly right. Then you say, like, oh, I'm glad we didn't win those two. But I know a lot of fans don't think that way, and they want to win as many games as possible.
Starting point is 00:55:46 So, yeah. Rob Milner, to help, We already got that one. CDP. If Kellan and Stiko were to get fired on the same day, who would get a call from the Eagles first? Just as a consultant. Don't worry, Sean.
Starting point is 00:56:00 Stiko. Yeah, I think so. Big Stike for sure. Yeah. That would make Nick happy. Yes. Make a lot of people happy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:09 Drip Sensei. Barkley Smith status. Yes, the word from the practice field is that neither DeVante Smith nor Sequin Barclay were practicing today. Not a good sign. It seems unlikely that they'll play. Not ideal. What do you make?
Starting point is 00:56:27 We haven't talked about this. What do you make of the Offensive Line with Landon Dickerson and him speaking yesterday? Oh yeah, we didn't talk about this. We didn't talk about anything that has to be yesterday because so much has happened. You know, I was in that scrum where Zach Berberin, the noted author, asked Landon Dickerson about if does he consider himself the left guard of the future and he said you know something like
Starting point is 00:56:52 well you know that's a question for for Nick and how do they do press conferences I now Landon has been kind of needling in his radio hits all season so I didn't think that that was as he tends to do but I didn't think that that was that incendiary it is and he's right it's not a question for him right he then said he'd like to be here in the long term but yeah I mean I suppose he's heard the possibility that he could be traded right
Starting point is 00:57:23 if he and Kendall play now Dickerson was only limited yesterday I don't know if what he'll be today so my guess is he's probably still one more week away yeah but I am curious to see what how he looks right yeah I mean for his sake you hope they like look because week one was was pretty rough so you hope for his like long-term ability to play in the league that looks a lot better. If Kendall's good to go this week, would you have Kendall at center and Lampkin at guard? Or would you just have majors at center and Kendall at guard? It really does feel like they are pot committed at Kendall at center.
Starting point is 00:58:01 Yeah. Yes. Yeah. So if that's good. I was hoping that the debut for Willie would a little bit better. I do think his long-term position is best at center. and just because of the size limitations, it is a lot easier for opposing defenses
Starting point is 00:58:20 to isolate him and target him in protection. But that's harder to do when you're at center. All right, let's get to overtime. Super chat from TZ Trez. Have you already had the Trade Sequeam conversation? Obviously, his stock isn't high while injured, but if a contender missing an RB1 gets desperate, I think the window is closing to get anything for him.
Starting point is 00:58:49 Would you? I would, depending on the price. Yeah, right. Compensation, yeah. Take a second round pick. I was going to say it too, yeah. I think I would. Where you're talking.
Starting point is 00:59:01 It is really crazy that they got it too for Cam Juergens. Yeah. Yeah, it depends. I would think a lot of this would hinge on what the long-term diagnosis is for Jalen this year for 2026. If it's like, yeah, like he's not playing for three months. maybe you start listening to that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:23 Lindsay is our guest on the line. He is not. Or she or they. Fresh prints. Are these injuries enough to put Jefferson Health out of business? Bring NovaCare back. I like that take. I do like that take.
Starting point is 00:59:38 It takes one year. They change the name. That's really good. And all of a sudden, the healthiest team in football for a few years running. I'm sure there are, honestly, there are probably people at NovaCare
Starting point is 00:59:49 that like, That's probably a funny joke there, I would bet. That's very funny. That's very funny. Rivera, season over, everyone panic. It's not a great, it's pretty crazy, like the injury deal. Yeah, it's wild. And a lot of it, it's not like, oh man, like they did a really bad job of, you know,
Starting point is 01:00:08 they did all, they went through their normal paces of how they, yeah, try and take care of these guys, but you can't prevent all injury. Yeah, most of it, most of it is totally. Yeah. Random stuff. Still no guest? Almost. Anyone else from the locker room stand out to you yesterday?
Starting point is 01:00:28 Talk to Jahad Campbell and Jeremiah Trader Jr. Okay. Yep. I saw that. You know, I don't think that Jehad Campbell is thrilled. But he said competition is the name of the game in football. How do you envision that rotation looking?
Starting point is 01:00:44 Do you think it's a base defense? Nickel defense. Vic said the thing about it could just be by dry. that would be weird to me. You would think that it would be early down, late down kind of deal, but
Starting point is 01:00:57 maybe that's too predictable. Maybe you do. And also you can't really, if the goal of it is to kind of further evaluate and want to settle on somebody, then you kind of would do it by series, right?
Starting point is 01:01:14 Because you want to see them in different roles. Yeah. But I don't know if that's the goal. Yeah. The idea of doing it just because Trotter deserves reps versus, like, if you're, again, and I've said it a couple times over the last week, to me, the only reason you could justify doing this would be if you were not pleased with Jahad Campbell, like, behind the scenes. If you are, if you are fine with Jahad Campbell, like, you are truthfully, like, yep, we are,
Starting point is 01:01:40 we are good with what, like, Jahat, then there's, to me, they shouldn't be doing this. But that's fine. Yeah, I agree with you. Yeah. If you If you were Howie and you were willing to trade one You want to cash in one major chip
Starting point is 01:01:58 Okay. Oh, but you don't, you don't want to make it a total sell job and, you know, totally lose the locker room and bring in the stink
Starting point is 01:02:06 because this is a losing culture, but there's one chip you're willing to do. Would you rather do Sequin or Zach Bond? Um, I would probably I would probably do Sequin That's a good question I only say that because I feel like
Starting point is 01:02:27 Seqon after this deal is up is probably like Because you got one more year after this year He's going into a contract year Which is the case for Bonn as well But I feel like Bonn there was probably more of a chance That you could still maintain like a certain level Whereas I would expect a little bit more of a drop off there
Starting point is 01:02:41 Saquan but honestly we haven't seen that from Seekwond to this point So I don't know if I necessarily believe that either Yeah. What would you do? I would probably do Sequin. Yeah. Yeah. All right.
Starting point is 01:02:52 Everybody ready for Swooper? Let's do it. Do you want to bring them in first? All right. Let's bring in on the Xfinity mobile call-in line. Here it is. Wow. Look at that camera.
Starting point is 01:03:04 Wow. Now, the name again, Zach. Zach Berman. Nice to see you guys. Zach Berman. How? Thanks for joining us. It's great to be here. I was really looking forward to this.
Starting point is 01:03:16 I still. I am looking forward to this. The circumstances with which I'm coming on are a little different than they seem to be, I don't know, four hours ago or so, but it's still great to see you guys. Now, you do cover the team? For 15 years. Wow. For what?
Starting point is 01:03:34 I cover the Eagles for the athletic. Yes. Never heard of it. Anyway, give us, what is, Zach, what is the sense down there? I mean, this is obviously a wild turn of events. Tell us, you know, what the vibe of practice was? What's going on? So I was only at practice for an abbreviated period.
Starting point is 01:03:54 They only allowed us there during the stretching. So it's hard to really give you like a lay of the land other than the fact that there are a lot of players missing. Most notably, Jalen Hertz, not on the practice field, not observing from the sideline, as you guys have discussed. So there's two quarterbacks. there are two quarterbacks or two players rather in red jerseys. That stands out when you watch it. Sequin, Barclay, DeVante Smith are not practicing with the team at the start of practice. So you're really looking at an offense that's missing the franchise quarterback, the All-Pro running back, the top-wide receiver, what, three of the day one starting offensive lineman.
Starting point is 01:04:38 Drew Kendall was in the stretching, period. so maybe they're getting Drew Kendall back, we'll see, but it is, it's not the crew that the PHLI show is talking about at the beginning of the season. As far as the vibe, though, I mean, it would be disingenuous for me to say that, like,
Starting point is 01:04:59 you felt this buzz around there because I was only there during stretching. I'll be in the locker room in, what, like an hour and a half or so off a better sense. Then, look, or McKee, but you know, it's just to give you a sense, like you're at practice, your, your phone buses, you look at it and it's, it's, they signed Ian Wheelwork to the practice
Starting point is 01:05:20 squad. So there is a like business as usual element to what's going on here. Zach, I know it's still early in the period of like, you know, just reacting to this news, but, uh, the sense you're getting in terms of like Jalen from a like a long term standpoint, like just thinking about him on a personal level, uh, what is the level of concern that people you think internally are having right now with Jaylen. It's a great question. And it's not one where there's this strong precedent of, all right, this is what's going to happen.
Starting point is 01:05:51 You know, you need to figure out obviously what the treatment plan is, as the Eagles alluded to. He's going to miss this week. I don't want to frame it as an indefinite absence, but it's an absence in the definition of indefinite. We don't know when he's going to return, right? So I think they need to figure out the best course of treatment here. As the three of us know, you know, because we've been around this for a long time.
Starting point is 01:06:17 There are certain injuries where you have a good sense. Okay, it's this long, it's that long. You can look back at this. This is not one. And I know you see on social media maybe this player had it or this person had it. But it's, I think these are all kind of independent of each other. And so a lot of it depends on what the course of treatment is. and how long that will take.
Starting point is 01:06:41 Yeah, I mean, I imagine you have been frantically calling and texting people. Do you have anything else to report on this crazy turn of events? You know, the interesting thing is last night, you know, we were talking to Jaylon Hertz, and I can tell you, he was in good spirits. We're talking away from the podium, you know, from the microphone a bit. Flex, I mean, huge. It's like, we want to throw up, you throw you a parade? Come on.
Starting point is 01:07:10 No, no, no, I, I'm simply suggesting. Did you go to the ultrasound with him? No, I did not. No, I'm trying to give your viewers and listeners a sense that it was not as if he was, you know, frantic in that moment. Yeah. Last night. Yeah, he, he was actually even more like focused in than usual on this on, on.
Starting point is 01:07:35 this week on, you know, some of the stuff surrounding the team. There was not this alarm of what would occur today in those conversations last night. He did say it was a real unique injury and he didn't want to go into what happened last week. But as the team said in the statement, they checked it again last night. And that's when this was revealed that in terms of the movement of the blood clot. So yeah, I'm, I'll be honest, I've learned a lot more in the past two hours about. about a superficial blood clot than I knew beforehand.
Starting point is 01:08:09 I'm fortunate that I didn't know as much about a superficial blood clot before this and what happens when it moves. So yeah, I've been trying to learn more, but I'm still in that learning stage, if you will. All right. Now, we have you here to also play a game. Would you like to understand, would you like to know the rules of this game? You know, I played the game for a while and I said, I don't, I didn't know the rules then. I probably don't know it now.
Starting point is 01:08:36 So, but I will do my best. All right, Lindsay, should we hit the bumper? Ladies and gentlemen, welcome. Swooper sortcasting. It's time to start Swooper. Oh. This is a bidding game. There will be 12 items.
Starting point is 01:08:51 And I blew turkeys in that one, which then affected me the next. What? I did get it. And there you go. I need help. Is anyone else as excited as I am? There's like one item. week where you just sound so like smug and
Starting point is 01:09:07 sure of yourself. Unbelievable loss for me. Oh, I'm feeling good because the vapor is coming off this thing. Maybe this is what you need to turn it around and swooper. It's a backup. James. I don't think you know you don't get to you.
Starting point is 01:09:26 No, no, no, no. No, no. The reason. Sold. Wouldn't be swooper if I got the order right the entire time. All right. Now on last week, the rundown here, the higher of the Eagles successful undercenter play action passes or Darius Cooper catches is greater than combined goals in West Ham QPR. That was for me. I actually don't know if I got that or not. Oh, good.
Starting point is 01:10:01 Because it was two goals in the West Ham QPR game. As we all know, I was there in attendance, fun atmosphere. they had at least two understander play action passes Darius Cooper did not have more than two catches but I think I did not hit this The Eagles convert at least one first down on their first possession of the second half They got one right
Starting point is 01:10:20 And then and then went three and out No they went three and out in the first possession Yeah great Will Shippley has more rushing yards than the percentage of possession Arsenal has against leads did not happen There was at least one snap of no white guys on the field for the Eagles
Starting point is 01:10:35 Unfortunately I don't think this happened. The longest touchdown of the game is longer than the number of turkeys for which this item is sold. That did hit and the Eagles win the game. Brutal. That was a really well-played item by you for the longest play. Fran. Geelan Hertz has at least 10 rushing attempts.
Starting point is 01:10:51 Did not happen. Zachert sets the Eagles franchise record for receptions. Did not happen. Trevor Lawrence is credited with a fumble. It did happen. E.J. The record for longest field goal in the NFL history is broken this week. Did not happen.
Starting point is 01:11:03 The Eagles record, the Eagles record, more third quarter first downs than Tottenham scores goals this week. I don't think that happened. The broadcast mentions that Jaguar's starting cornerback, Jerry and Jones, was the player over whom Sequin Barclay hurtled
Starting point is 01:11:18 in 2024 didn't happen. And Jalen Hertz is sacked more times than the number of yellow cards. Nottingham Forest players are shown against Crystal Palace. Absolutely no idea. I'm so glad that you guys had to throw in so many of these soccer ones
Starting point is 01:11:33 and then did not care to follow up on those. Hey, Zach, what do you think is going to happen with Zach Ertz? Yeah, it's a good question because they don't have a spot on the 53 for them right now. They're just, they're squashed with injury or they're tight with injuries. My guess is who will remain on the practice squad this this week and they'll have to see how the roster shakes out. But they have more guys available to come off. I are in the coming weeks. They have some spots that they need.
Starting point is 01:12:03 So, okay. Hey, they are in a real crunch. I don't know if fourth tight end is the priority now. It's kind of mean, yeah. When they, when they, I mean, my, my antenna went up when they signed Carson Steele to the active roster last week instead of Ertz on Friday. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:12:20 I think they might just be letting him die on the vine. Kind of a mean thing to do to a franchise legend. Yeah, I bring him back for that, yeah. I mean, there is a chance that there's a backstretch of the schedule here where they're kind of playing out the string and it's it's like yeah that's true it's something for fans to go to hey hey come to this game and since see him break the record all right Zach you get to go first this week uh playing for EJ you have 30 turkeys I go second I have 38 turkeys and Fran goes third he has 33 turkeys you get to nominate the first item the board is yours this is in an in honor of the outstanding
Starting point is 01:13:00 E.J. Smith. Actually, the first two are in honor of the outstanding E.J. Smith. The first one here, Aston Villa, scored as many or more goals versus Newcastle on Saturday as the Eagles scored touchdowns in the second half. So context here is that the Eagles have not scored a touchdown in the second half in the past three games. And I will start the bidding at two. Three. Five. I feel bad spending someone else's money, you know. Are you more cautious or less? Yeah, I'm more cautious, right? You don't want to waste someone else.
Starting point is 01:13:47 You know if he was going to spend it. This is what he would spend it on. This is what he would spend. That's true. So six. Seven. I'm going to give him something to root for here. Go ahead.
Starting point is 01:14:04 Take it for eight. Eight going once. Eight going twice. We'll give it to him. Big guy. And I should specify this is as many or or more. So if it's,
Starting point is 01:14:16 I wanted to put the as many in there. Yes. All right. Item number two, an Eagles quarterback has a rushing first down in this game. Now,
Starting point is 01:14:30 touchdown obviously counts as a first down. Yep. Presumably Tanner McKee. Any kind of rushing first down, we have seen Jalen Hertz not be as willing to run the ball so far this season.
Starting point is 01:14:41 I'll start the bidding at one. Hmm. Two. I'll say three. Three going once. Three going twice. Sold. To the handsome devil.
Starting point is 01:15:05 Thank you. You didn't buy it. All right. Over to you, Fran. My first one. Jalen Carter has at least as many combined TFLs, sacks,
Starting point is 01:15:21 PbUs, and forced fumbles as the elite defensive tackle on the other side, Carolina Panthers defensive tackle, Derek Brown. Many people believe that he is the best defensive tackle on football. Right. So he's really good. When Nick Siriani was talking about the Panthers defense,
Starting point is 01:15:37 the first thing he said was 95. He's so much respect for 95. Did he look right at you when he said it? No, but we prepped for that one. And did you spend time off Mike discussing it as well? not no i did not i did not all right so you're betting on jalen carter on this one has at least as many at least as many combined tfl sacks pbUs and forced fumbles it's not uh it's not weighted we're not doing any formulas here it's just a total total sum of those categories um we will start the bidding at
Starting point is 01:16:08 three four five i was going to say the panthers have a weak interior line but so do the eagles right now so Do we believe that Jalen Carter London game was a blip or a sign of things to come? Six. Seven. I don't believe Derek Brown has a sack this season.
Starting point is 01:16:50 Jaylen Carter has three. That is correct. Yeah. Seven going once. I don't know about TFLs or PBE user. Seven going twice? Go ahead. Sold to me.
Starting point is 01:17:00 Jalen Carter. 28 turkeys. All right. We bring in the professor's first item. Item number four. The Eagles convert at least one first down on their first possession of the second half. The Eagles have gone three and out on their first second half possession in all five games. This is a sealed bid first price auction item carries over until it hits.
Starting point is 01:17:29 Oh, okay. Okay. He got sick of making this one each week. Yes. And so sealed price. Go ahead, sack. Should I text my answer here? You can text your answer, yes.
Starting point is 01:17:41 So this is, we write our answers down, whoever has the highest bid wins it, and you pay that price. Okay. I guess I got to write this bigger. It's not big enough. I said mine to Lindsay. All right, Lindsay, why don't you read what we've got?
Starting point is 01:18:13 Zach said five. Zach bids five. Fran said nine. 12 I don't think you'd go that high Good one guaranteed to hit at it's gonna hit at some point
Starting point is 01:18:28 yes I know I know All right you get it for 12 All right So I'm done to 16 turkeys Spending my turkeys Willie nilly EJ slash Zach has 22
Starting point is 01:18:40 Brand's got 33 as we go to the second round Swooper Zach yours Second round here Hempel wins by more points versus Charlotte than the Eagles score
Starting point is 01:18:53 versus Carolina. Temple, they're 21.5 point favorites. And by the way, what's synergy by the schedule makers that have Temple versus Charlotte as the appetizer versus Eagles versus Panthers?
Starting point is 01:19:05 I think that's what they're going for. Is that all the Charlotte 49er fans coming up here for that game? What's your favorite Carolina, like regional appetizer? My, in the Carolinas. Yes.
Starting point is 01:19:21 I don't like hush puppies. People like hush puppies. Really? Oh, I thought that would be my go too. I'm actually, I don't like hush puppies. I don't like anything. She crab soup. She crab soup. No, no.
Starting point is 01:19:33 Brunswick stew. How about that? Brunswick stew. That's something down there. People can look up. Sort of. What? Sort of.
Starting point is 01:19:41 I wouldn't call that care. I feel like that's more Georgia. Yeah, true. It's the HCC. When you think of Charlotte sports, like the University of Charlotte 49ers, who is the person that comes to your mind? I mean, my first one is Biff, their former football coach, who had the sleevel shirt on the sideline.
Starting point is 01:20:10 Yeah, that's probably, I don't know, I remember when Ryan Odom was the basketball coach there, Who comes to your mind? There was a sharpshooter, a white guy named Brendan Plavich. In fact, when I was in college, when we would put in all the actual players into like the video game and have their names in, you always wanted Brendan Plavich on your team. Nails from downtown.
Starting point is 01:20:35 All right, so Temple wins by more points versus Charlotte than points the Eagles score against the Panthers. I'm starting bidding at three. Four. Five. Charlotte's not very good. Not there's temple. No offense. Although I do like what Casey Keil was building there. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:21:06 Five you have it for right now? Five going once. Five's going twice. Six. Oh, jumping in at last minute. Oh, that one heard him. Six going once. Six going twice.
Starting point is 01:21:26 It's old a friend. Go owls. Gotta take those owls. You got to the cherry and white. That's right. All right. Over to me. Item number six.
Starting point is 01:21:42 One, at least one of the following, any of the following things happen. There's a special team's touchdown in the game. A.J. Dillon has a touch. Kenny Pickett throws a pass. Elijah Moore has a successful touch. A non-player is ejected from the game. and or Dave Canales sleeps with an Eagles fan this weekend.
Starting point is 01:22:07 Any of those following things happen. And if this is one where it seems like after the game, it hasn't happened, but we find out later, retroactive points are allowed to be awarded. That's for the ejection you're speaking about. Yes. Okay. This is where we find out that Dave Canales' wife grew up an Eagles fan.
Starting point is 01:22:24 Well, that would count. Although we have to have proof that they've consummated. Well, I still need proof. I'll stay away from this. I will start the bidding at one. Two. What do you think is the most likely of these? I'm not telling you.
Starting point is 01:22:57 Two going once. Two going twice. Sold to friend. I'll take it for two. Wow. I love a two. The AJ Dylan Touch would be the one I would probably, say is the most likely.
Starting point is 01:23:15 I think the Kenny Pickett throws a pass. That's awesome. Those are the two. And then the ejection is probably more so than the Elijah more successful touch. Yeah. They don't call him Dave.
Starting point is 01:23:30 Commissionarius. Lutz-Helt it together briefly. There was a small chuckle that stifled. I'm more surprised you didn't use the word touch again. You used touch in this, already and then for that it wasn't all right over you Fran the Eagles yards per carry in this game is higher than the number of three and outs that they have on offense we'll start the bidding at three
Starting point is 01:24:07 that's a good one thank you I like that one I think I'm good me too me too I'm not there yet I'll take it uh I'm gonna say four okay you'd have it for four I guess Really? All right. Four going one. I'll take it for five. Five going once, five going twice. Sold.
Starting point is 01:24:36 I'll take it for five. All right. Over to the professor. The Eagles run a successful under center play action when blitzed. They are 0 for 14 on such plays this year.
Starting point is 01:24:56 The only team in the NFL to not have a successful play, Carolina has blitzed on 64% of opponents under center dropbacks. This is a Dutch auction. Lindsay will count down from 15 turkeys until someone yells, Swooper. You said you had a little response there as if you're well aware of the Panthers doing this.
Starting point is 01:25:19 Just like the blitz rate is really high. And it's like the 64% it's like dead on the nose for what they're like even like non-play action. Oh, interesting. Yeah, it's like right there. Okay. All right. You got what's going on here, Zach? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:25:34 I remember the Dutch auctions as well. Yeah. Did you have, were you, knowing that you had this coming up today, where did you have like, were you visited by ghosts of super past? Did you, were a little bit nervous here? Did you get back in the, in the arena in any sense? I was, I was thinking about the strategy and I wanted to be mindful of his turkeys. I didn't want to spend all his turkeys. I did at one point consider going back to the Eagles Carolina game from two years ago to see what my items were. so I didn't duplicate items. I imagine that my third item might have something in common with my items from that game. But overall, I was just excited to see you guys. I miss hanging out with you guys. So this is fun.
Starting point is 01:26:22 Exactly. First time we never met. What direction? Where is Bryce Young born? I know that because it's the way I go home. So it's that way. Yes. All right.
Starting point is 01:26:36 And the windows open. And the windows open. right now. So I do have a sense. If this window was closed, I might be a bit disoriented. Okay. All right. The Eagles run a successful under-center play-action play
Starting point is 01:26:48 when blitz. Lindsay, are you ready? I am. Ready? Go ahead. 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9,
Starting point is 01:27:01 8. Swooper. That was that. Eight. Eight. Eight. Interesting. That's what you spent DJ's turkeys on?
Starting point is 01:27:13 I think they're going to be in play action. I think they're going to be blitzed. At some point, they're the only team that hasn't run a successful one yet. I imagine they're going to, yeah. I would be. I was surprised I got it at eight. I'd be willing to wager one turkey on Zach,
Starting point is 01:27:31 never spending eight items or eight turkeys on two items in the same week. Oh, interesting. I got to say, he didn't have an excess inventory of turkeys. He's not as much of a saver as I am, E.J. Shot across his bow. Wow, man. No, it's a good thing. They don't collect interest, so you might as well, right?
Starting point is 01:27:51 You might as well spend it. And how many times did you win? Did I win Swooper? Yeah. I didn't keep track of, of that. Got it. All right. Item number nine, yours, yours, E.J. Smith proxy.
Starting point is 01:28:06 Okay, here you go. Number three, one or both of these events occur. Derek Brown records a sack or Lankanao Hospital slash Winwood is mentioned. No, it's not enough for it to be mentioned that Bryce Young was born in Philadelphia. It has to be the town or the hospital. And the bidding will start at two. I'd love for JJ Watt to drop, or it's Ross Tucker. It's Ross Tucker.
Starting point is 01:28:36 Oh, you know what? That might increase the odds. It increases the odds. It's more specific. I also, this could be Zach calling it a favor. He's got Ross Tucker's number, I'm sure. Oh, for sure. If it was down the depth chart player,
Starting point is 01:28:50 I'd be confident Ross would say because he does know that down the depth chart players more than anybody. How dare you. He is when Jake Majors or Willie Lampkin are discussing, Just I mean, Ross's insight will be more acute than any analysis I could find anywhere on those guys. You've started bidding at two. Now, hold on, it's going to be a full sack for Derek Brown.
Starting point is 01:29:20 Yes, a full sack. Okay. Two. That's what they said when Bryce Young was born. Who's they? The doctors. Okay. Great story by Mike Jensen, as E.J. would want me to point out a few years ago on Bryce Young.
Starting point is 01:29:42 You're hitting all the beats. Might as well. Might be the last time I'm invited on for a year. Probably so. Most David, unless David Baker comes back. Two going once. Two going twice.
Starting point is 01:30:01 Sold. Big old sack. All right. Item number 10. The Eagles score a season high in points or allow a season low in points. Their season high in points is 24.
Starting point is 01:30:23 Their season low and points allowed is 19. Now we'll start the bidding at 3. What were those numbers again? 24 and 19. Got it, thank you. You said starting at the beginning at 2? 3. 3?
Starting point is 01:30:43 Hmm. 4. I'll say 5. I'm out. 5 going once. 5 going twice. Sold. To the sex symbol, one left.
Starting point is 01:31:11 Just making sure that you were the left window. All right. I've got 11 turkeys. Franz got 20. Zach slash EJ has 12. Item number 11. Darius Cooper scores a touchdown. Obviously, he's been the touchdown maker over the last few weeks.
Starting point is 01:31:31 Does he do it again with Tanner McKee a quarterback? We'll start the bidding at three. I mean, I know from following BLG how good Darius Cooper is. So I'm compelled to take action here. But, you know, Jalen Hertz and Darius Cooper met for an hour last week preceding that long touchdown. I don't know what the Tanner McKee chemistry is like with Darius Cooper. That presumably met all the time last year, at least. The good thing is Ross will know when he covered when he broadcast the game.
Starting point is 01:32:17 See, now you're, now you're going overboard. It was good, now you've gone too far. Going too far on a joke? No, you don't say. Sounds like it's sold. Three going once. Three going twice. Yeah, you got it.
Starting point is 01:32:37 That's pretty good. That's a good value. Now, before we get to item number 12, I think we do need to let the people know, Zach, given the shot we have here, you are in the Eagles Media Complex and you are not wearing pants. No, I definitely am wearing pants.
Starting point is 01:32:59 I, yeah. Prove it. I'm not falling for that. Had I known that I was going to be on the P.H.Y. Eagle Show, I would have gone on the barber shop. I didn't get noticed until yesterday. I would have gotten fresh cuts but I look as smooth as Fran.
Starting point is 01:33:16 Shot, I mean, for the downstairs? What's that for the downstairs? I'm staying so far away from this. I mean, I am, uh, you wouldn't get this for the ringers really special. The special. Yeah, well, um, that's, that's true. I, I, I will have it for next week's episode. What, yeah, what, what, uh, number podcast platform is this for you this week?
Starting point is 01:33:44 it doesn't matter what matters is that you know it's like nick sabin says a play last six seconds and you live during those six seconds so like when i'm on your show right now i am going to devote my energy but i got to say i love being on the ringer-fell special every week with shield Capadia. Yeah, so I don't want... But not Cliff, apparently. Well, no, what... With Cliff as well.
Starting point is 01:34:19 Yes. With Cliff as well. All right. Out of number 12 from the professor. The Eagles go on a winning streak of at least X games starting this week. The winner chooses X has to be at least one after the auction, and this item will score X points on the week that the winning. streak hits X games.
Starting point is 01:34:42 Does that make sense? Okay, so if you think the Eagles are only going to win one game, you could get one point this week. But if you think they could win up to two games, you would get to two points when they get to two or three points when they get to three, but they've got to hit that number. This is a normal auction and you can borrow from next week.
Starting point is 01:35:04 Next week, of course, they have the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night football. And then as a commander's first or Giants first, SAC. Commanders on the day after Halloween, November 1st. Do you think that game's going to get flexed out? I mean, now. Perhaps now. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:35:21 My daughter's birthday party. Yeah. My daughter's birthday parties during the day. Wait, they can still flex the Dallas game. No, not the Dallas game, the Sunday night game in Washington the week after. They could move it to. What do they have to do it two weeks, more than two weeks before? to do it by Zach what's the rule uh just i i believe tuesday's the deadline next
Starting point is 01:35:44 tuesday yeah my guess is that at this point i'll pull it out was with with no hurts yeah although if eagles win this game it's possible okay um all right everybody ready yep two three four five six seven i like the possibility of this giving him points future weeks. You're thinking this is a nice gift that you can. Well, it's not. There will be other gifts, but this will be, uh,
Starting point is 01:36:41 yeah, you can be queath something, yeah. No, it's, it's, I mean, this is,
Starting point is 01:36:46 you know, you, you, you, you want, it's just like a, a growth stock here, right?
Starting point is 01:36:51 You know, it'll be more in a week than it is today. To be clear, the streak starts this week or it's at any point in this season? No, no, it starts to start with Carolina. Yeah, start. If they win this week, you get one point.
Starting point is 01:37:05 Yes. And then if they win next week, you get two points. Right. But only if you have to call your, you have to call it after you won the item. Oh, okay. I didn't realize that part. Okay.
Starting point is 01:37:16 Am I still winning in this one? You are in the lead right now at number at seven turkeys. Okay. Seven going once. Seven going twice. You got it. now are you calling it are you calling it uh one pointer for this week a two pointer for next week a three pointer for after what are you going for oh so he only gets the points when it hits you have to
Starting point is 01:37:44 yes that is typically how it works yeah okay i thought i misinterpreted this leave it to me to misinterpret this i thought if i said i thought he'd get one point this week two points next week three points the week after that so i all right um it's the the angst is so is so is like exponentially funnier because it's buyer's remorse for somebody else's gift it's not even for your item yeah i feel horrible now so i i i thought i was getting him on that that pays each of the next few weeks and like as i i okay i am i apologize e j um oh man geez all right this is a little tougher now i feel safer i feel safer just going one i'm bidding on them winning this game this i think that's the way to do it i think you should do too
Starting point is 01:38:31 I know you're saying that. Give him the upside. Yeah, but I'm just going one right now. Okay. So you're not giving him any. There is no, there is no, well, I misinterpreted it. Now I'm just trying to maximize the return. All right.
Starting point is 01:38:44 So you're just betting that the Eagles win this game and it would be worth one point. For seven targets, that's not, that's fine. Eagles win the game, according to Zach. He's also got, uh, Derek Brown has a sack or they mentioned Lankinaw or Winwood on the broadcast. The Eagles have a success. successful under center play action pass against the Blitz, and Aston Villa scores more goals than the Eagles have touchdowns in the second half. Yes.
Starting point is 01:39:11 Yep. I have the Eagles quarterback, any Eagles quarterback, runs for a first down. Jalen Carter has more stats than Derek Brown. The Eagles score a get a first down on their first possession of the second half at some point in the season. and the Eagles either score a season high of points or allow a season low of points. Fran, Temple wins by more points than points the Eagles score. The Poo-Pooplaugher with Dave Canales.
Starting point is 01:39:43 The Eagles have higher yards, yards per carry. Then they do three and outs, and Darius Cooper scores a touchdown. Oh, nice, a 4-4 week. And EJ will have five turkeys to carry over. Fran's got 17 and I've got 11. All right. Any final thoughts? What do you call the 4-44?
Starting point is 01:40:02 Fof-Foe-Foe. Moses Malone. Yeah. That's right. Any final thoughts from you before you get your pants on before the locker room? Just so happy to see you guys. I miss everyone in there. Great story by Anthony today.
Starting point is 01:40:17 I enjoyed reading that. And yeah, I keep up the good work. I enjoy hanging out with the guys listening and watching. Well, if you out there would also like to hang out with the good folks at P HLY. You could do it on Sunday at the PHLY True Fan Travel Tailgate that we've got going on. A big one this week.
Starting point is 01:40:40 A big one. Yeah. And the benefits are this week going to Chris Long's Waterboys Foundation. Yep. Best in the city, PHLY and True Fan Travel, sponsored by XFINITY and Wawa. Zach Broomin very much enjoyed having you on the show. Thanks so much.
Starting point is 01:41:00 Apparently there's a super chat specifically for Zach. Oh, let's check it out. A couple super chats. Shea says, Zach, are you back on the best dental insurance? The dental insurance is different than it was before. It's still solid dental insurance. Good send it.
Starting point is 01:41:18 My family was very happy with it. So yes. Okay. What about the hearing and the vision? Yeah. The insurance is good. The employee, I don't want to get into this. Which of the full medical, the dental, and then the supplementary stuff, which of the three is the best?
Starting point is 01:41:41 The pharmacy for sure. Oh, okay. The pharmacy's been terrific. Idiot Sandwich says, any truth to my report that ZB signed as a new quarterback? You don't want me. Maybe Zach Bond. He was a quarterback in high school, but you don't want me. and quarterback. Little Miss Run the ball, says ZB being on the show is the best part of this awful week.
Starting point is 01:42:04 Oh, very nice. I appreciate that. It's very nice. Dinkleberg says maybe they end up trading Goddard, then signing Ertz. I mean, as I've said, on the athletic and on the ringer fairly special and on the Eagles collective and on other places that it could get, it could get dark early here if the Eagles keep losing. So it's certainly something to be mindful of. Chill Bill says, ZB is absolutely glowing, need his skincare routine. I honestly don't have a skincare routine. I think it's just the lighting in the room. I appreciate that.
Starting point is 01:42:39 It's a good looking camera. You do look very sharp. And that's just what we can see. It's nice you to say. Thank you. All right. Zach, thank you very much. Good to see you guys.
Starting point is 01:42:51 Take care. Thanks, Zach. I think that's about all we got on this episode of the P.H. Y Eagles podcast. Thank you, Lindsay. Thank you, Zach. Thank you to all the doctors or at least pretend doctors who gave us some insight in the chat. Obviously, we will have much more to come on this crazy situation for the Eagles back in the saddle tomorrow at 2 o'clock with the professor and BLG.
Starting point is 01:43:20 I said this last week. I love the Friday shows. I love listening to you and Dana's and BLG. That's a fun combo. I like all the shows. Of course. Every day has got a little different personality. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:43:34 I like the Friday shows. Absolutely. Yeah. Thanks for watching. Let us know in the comments. If you have any information on where the Panthers are staying, because we might have some people willing to get friends and points in sports. We will talk to you tomorrow at 2 o'clock.
Starting point is 01:43:53 And as always, we love you.
