Hello and welcome to the PHNX DBAX podcast right here on PHNX, an award-winning podcast.
I just made that up.
I have nothing to back that up, but I feel like people say that.
So it's the award-winning PHNX D-Bax podcast right here on PHNX.
Of course, I am Derek Bonte, officially known as your mayor of PHNX, and I am joined by
my vice mayor, the one and only Thunderstake, Jesse Friedman.
Well, you're the mayor, so you can, like, give us an award, and then we can be award-winning.
Yeah, okay.
Yeah, the D-BACs won the mayor's prize, you know, like, you know, some sort of the mayoral seal of approval.
There we go.
New Times Award, right?
Best podcast, PHNX, D-BX.
We'll give out Best Hot Chicken Award, best rapper.
We'll do all of that later.
But for right now, you are listening to the award-winning PHNX DeBX podcast right here on PHNX.
And we are brought to you by the fine folks at the Draft King Sportsbook app.
Go download the draft king sportsbook app now.
Now, use our code of PHNX and simply for betting $1 on any team to score, you will get $100 in free bets instantly.
That's on NFL games, by the way.
It's not just on any team.
You can't just go bet on the Lithuania women's team to cover in the quarterfinal like I did a few weeks ago.
But you can bet on any NFL team to score.
And should they do that, you will get $100 in free bets instantly.
It's just that simple, Jesse.
Of course, I've been drugged through the month.
on the betting podcast. I talked about that. I'm not going on there anymore. I'm not sharing my
winnings with them. But I did bet on the Cardinals last night, and I did lose that money, Jesse,
because the Cardinals, once again, were not good at home. I also, as you know, because you were
there and you commented on it, I called the Arizona Cardinals, the Arizona Diamondback,
something that apparently I will not live down anytime soon, despite the fact that, see,
people aren't understanding here, Jesse, that I have the mayor.
So I have this cross-platform thing going on where I'm covering all the sports.
All right.
When you start asking me to get teams names right after 10 o'clock at night,
I mean, am I at fault or you at fault for expecting me to know that?
I don't even get players' names right on this show.
And that's baseball that I know about, right?
So, of course, I don't know what they were expecting me over there.
but speaking of last night, we actually recorded a very late podcast.
I was very tired. You were very tired. We had very full days, but we did send a shout out to
our lost member of the D-Backs family, Roland Heeman.
And I think that we did not bring up a very important aspect of his history and his past with MLB baseball,
that he is credited with being the grandfather, the godfather, the godfurted,
father, if you will, of the Arizona Fall League.
It was his idea.
He is credited with the original idea for the Arizona Fall League, an off-season
developmental league owned and operated by Major League Baseball.
And it was his idea to go with the top prospects from each of the teams and all of those
kind of ideas as far as playing in spring training stadiums here in around Phoenix.
Not to mention the fact that, again, he was, last night I was talking about
a former Baxter who helped him out.
And one thing, or he was very close with,
mentored him, helped him apparently get the D-BAC's pension plan changed
so that the mascot would be included in the non-uniformed pension plan.
So there were a lot of, like he impacted a lot of people's lives
and people within the organization.
He did a tremendous amount to make their lives better.
And that's just his time with the Arizona Diamondbacks, right?
He was the general manager for the Baltimore Orioles.
My favorite story that I read,
apparently during his time with the Chicago White Sox at the winter meetings,
he and I believe it was the coach of the team at the time,
just set up in the lobby with a sign to discuss trades.
like basically like you know a modern day like I want to trade these players change my mind kind of thing right like just posting up in the lobby at the winter meetings and offering to uh you know it's like like lemonade stand style yeah lemonade
yeah absolutely absolutely you know um so it's definitely somebody once again i i know we talked about it but somebody who will be missed uh
By the way, this was, it was with owner of the White Sox, Bill Veak, and it was a winter
meetings in a diplomat, in a diplomat hotel in Hollywood, Florida.
They set up with a sign that said, open for business anytime is what they set up with.
So they were ahead of their time right there.
Yeah, that's pretty awesome.
But, I mean, at this point, I would love to see anybody setting up with a sign in baseball.
Jesse that said open for business.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Right.
Apparently, the only news that we have is that Justin Verlander's new contract went in,
his two-year deal.
Somehow that still proceeded or took place.
I'm guessing it was a kind of a timed deal, but not much else.
Yeah, they just like made it official, right?
Yeah, they just made it official.
So great, wonderful.
Yeah, it's a big news, Derek.
Big news. He's going to stay with the Astros for longer.
But yeah, man, I still think that this MLB lockout situation is, you know, is the drizzling
shits, Jesse, as we say, in the pro wrestling world. It's the worst. And we really want to see
the free agency specifically get rolling again, right? I know that the free agency was red,
hot, white hot, whatever you want to call it prior to.
what everybody knew was coming, which was the lockout.
But I'm strangely interested to see where some of these big names land.
There are just still some huge names available.
And I've read a rumor about guys like Chris Bryant and Carlos Correa being attached to almost every single team.
Trevor's story somehow keeps having his stock rise during this entire situation somehow.
But yeah, it's very interesting to see how we're still speculating.
And I just wonder, I mean, obviously, we're not plugged in.
We have no access to team interviews, managers, any information.
We still get press releases and whatnot.
But I wonder how much of this information is kind of getting leaked out.
I wonder how many of these teams are legitimately interested or if it's just, again,
a story for a time like for us now where there isn't.
much to talk about. There isn't much to write about. There's been a lot of, this is semi-unrelated,
but there's been a lot of reports lately just kind of in, in U.S. news as a whole, just that the rate of
inflation right now is pretty insane. And part of me wonders if this whole lockout deal might
turn into kind of an even bigger issue than it already is, because maybe in a few months, Derek,
maybe the value of a U.S. dollar is going to be a little bit different a few months from now than it is,
than it is at the moment. So I don't, I doubt that we'll have a significant impact, but,
but it's sort of made waves around, um, just sort of, uh, the US news scene. So I think it,
who knows? I mean, these are, these are big dollars that are being thrown around here. So even
the difference of, you know, one or two or three percent can actually make a pretty
substantial difference. Oh yeah. Oh, yeah. Um, I mean, when you're talking about Corey Seeger agreeing to
a 10 year, $325 million deal. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It might be, I might be,
That might be $3.50 in a few months.
So, yeah, maybe the teams who kind of jumped the gun and did it earlier are in a better
spot because of that.
I don't know.
We'll see.
Well, so far, the predictions are that Correa still stays with Houston.
That will see Chris Bryant land with the Seattle Mariners and that we'll see Trevor Story
with the Yankees.
So, and I think.
Whose predictions are those?
I've seen, I've seen a couple of websites.
Yeah, it's just rumors.
General.
general rumor.
Just speculation, but I think it's, I think what they're taking into consideration is the amount
of money that it's going to cost to land these players and who still has that money to spend.
I think the Yankees especially are a team that, I mean, literally you talk about that meme of the
guy with the stick poking, you know, do something kind of thing, right?
That's the Yankees.
Yankees fans have been conditioned to see their team go out, spend a whole bunch of money in free
agency, bring in the best guys and have it not work out.
That's been the formula lately.
So why would they change anything and not go to their roster has just been.
Their roster has just been so hilarious to me for a while.
Like watching a Yankees game is just hilarious because it's Joey Gallo, Anthony Rizzo,
Jean-Carlos Stanton, Aaron Judge.
Like it's a bunch of the exact same type of player over and over and over again.
They all walk a lot.
They strike out a lot.
they have loads of power and they may never hit a single.
So I think the Yankees are in kind of an amusing spot right now.
It's like they acquire their free agents by watching the highlight reel on Sports
Center.
Right.
Yeah.
Whoever hits the longest home runs.
Yeah.
That's who we want, right?
If we get all of these guys in one place and one time,
it's got to work out for us, right?
Right?
Not so much.
But yeah, you're absolutely right about that.
They definitely have a type.
They're like that the female friend you have that, you know, can't stop with the bad boys, right?
You know, come on.
Lay off the dirt bags.
Date a nice guy.
That's the Yankees.
They just still date the bad boys.
But you know what?
I don't know what your friends call you.
My friends tend to call me gambling degenerate, but I don't feel like I am, Jesse.
I feel like I am a very responsible gambler, and I feel like I utilize the drafting a sportsbook app for fun.
right and that's something that you should do definitely uh i i talked about it i think last night
but uh don't be like my friend who who went out and put a parlay on the sons and the cardinals
to both win their championships bet i could i could understand one or the other like
separately right yeah parlay you're just asking for trouble now if he hits he wins like
$146,000. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. I'll be able to take the next couple of, uh, be able to take the next couple of years off of work potentially. However, you know, it's kind of crazy. And he threw $1,000 on that parlay. So, uh, again, you could, you could be more like me and throw 10 bucks and still enjoy yourself. And you can do that over at the draft king sports book app. Uh, and you're, you know, you're, you don't have to be your degenerate. You could be a nice guy like Jesse. Jesse got down on the draft king sports book app too. Don't it's not just me. It's, it's all of us here.
But you get down on the Draft King Sportsbook app.
Use our code of PHMX and simply for betting $1 on any team to score in any NFL game,
you will get $100 in free bet should they score any points.

on the Drafking Sportsbook app by getting in the same game parlay. Remember, the more legs you add,

See drafkings.com slash sportsbook
for details. See, Jesse, I'm just so mad
at those guys over on the betting podcast,
that tiny man,
Johnny Venerable. Against them for a
several days. Oh, man. They have me come on their show just to pick bets, which I don't do,
and then they're going to shame me when my bets don't go right. What do you, what, what, what,
what's going on here? What's going on here? You guys, now, Derek, we can hold over them that we have
the mayoral seal. That's right. Or approval. Yeah. The seal of approval. Yeah. These other,
these other pH and X shows, they don't have that. So we can, we can, we can hold that over them now.
That's, that's, that's, that's definitely bragging rights. But, oh, uh, we have been talking quite a bit on
this show about the debacks top prospects. The debacks have been talking quite a bit about their
top prospects. As we've discussed in the past, Mike Hazen has made it clear that this team is committed
to bringing those prospects up sooner than later and having those guys be the future of this team.
So Jesse and I thought it would be interesting. Here we are on the cusp of the 2022 season
to take a look back 10 years at the Arizona Diamondbacks starting or their top prospects at the time
in 2012 and see how one of the most amazing it's one of the most amusing baseball fan activities to do
it absolutely the favorite team look at their top prospects from a decade ago half of them you're going
to know their name maybe and a few of those people are going to you know have become really
noteworthy players for your team some of them might be noteworthy players on other teams and then half
of them are just like you you won't even remember their names right that's that's sort of how
this process work. So this is this is a pretty pretty fun exercise for us.
It's always interesting because of the names like you said that fall in between the names,
you know, guys who currently have no current team or current level next to their game because
there's quite a few of those that never are actually out of the league at this time, right?
They never, they never made it. And it puts in perspective for me, Derek, just how, you know,
as much as we're dreaming big on the Diamondbacks top prospect list that they have right.
now, and I think we should, right? It's one of the best in baseball. It's a top five farm system.
You can ask just about anyone, and they'll agree with you. But it puts in perspective that, like,
the way that we're ranking these guys is really just a shot in the dark, right? Number 24 on the
Diamondbacks prospect list could wind up being a way better player than number two, right? Like,
these numbers are really just in our minds, we kind of attach them to their number, right?
you know, Corbyn, Carol, and Alec Thomas, they're really, you know, the elite in the Diamondbacks
farm system. And I think there, there genuinely may be some truth to that when it's all said
and done. But this is an impossible task ranking guys in a farm system, right? You're, you're just,
you're just taking a shot in the dark, really, when you do this. And this exercise will,
we'll definitely put that in perspective for us. Well, and we've, we've discussed our friend William
Boar, who actually does
contribute to the top
30 prospects list for the Diamondbacks
and the St. Louis Cardinals.
And I've been promising to get him on
both to you and him, and we're going to do that
definitely for sure, to get his input on
creating this list and the entire
process that goes into it. But yeah, yeah,
like you said, it's literally ranking
guys and trying to determine who
who's going to be the best.
Now, one thing I find to be interesting
here is
there is,
there is some controversy and some sadness right away at the top of this list.
Yeah, the Diamondback says in 12 list.
There's some heavy things going on.
It's very heavy.
And arguably, you could say at the time or even maybe now,
they might have gotten it right about the best player on this team,
but someone with definitely a questionable character and questionable,
I guess, recent accusations against him.
And that would have been Trevor Bauer.
Trevor Bauer was the Arizona Diamondbacks top.
Number one overall prospect.
Yep, of this list of 20.
And yeah, I mean, Trevor Bauer, what, like, it's hard to talk about him because the accusations that have been placed against him really put him in, you know, the scumbag kind of category, should they be true?
And, you know, yeah, kind of assuming they are.
but Trevor Bauer has had a turbulent career.
Bauer has definitely had a erratic time with the Arizona diving backs.
He always kind of walked to the beat of his own drum,
and he was always a very immature person during his time, I think, with this team.
But he definitely turned his game around.
He turned his focus and his attitude around,
and he did become one of the best pitchers in all of baseball.
I think this in some ways it kind of eases the you know I mean I mean Max Scherzer at this point is just it's just so painful to talk about Max Scherzer and how good he's become Trevor Bauer I mean recently when he has been on the mound has been one of the best in the game but it kind of cushions the blow here I don't think Diamondbacks fans really miss Trevor Bauer very much just because of all of the things that have happened he's just I don't think Dodger fans really want anything to do with him at this
point.
Well, unless, I mean.
And I mean, those accusations and that, that, those legal issues aside.
Yeah.
Yeah, the time when he was with the Diamondbacks, he wasn't, he, he, he wasn't a good person with this team.
I think I remember, like, I don't think, I think Miguel Montero did not, like, just didn't, didn't get along with Trevor Bauer, if I remember, right?
There was just a lot of testy relationships between him and some of the players.
So it really kind of seems like it's for the best that the diamond backs wound up moving on from from Trevor Bauer in the long run.
But in terms of just his pure baseball talent, they probably got this right.
Out of everyone on this list, Trevor Bauer has probably had the most accomplished career, although there are a couple guys that may rival him.
So we'll get into those names when we get there.
Yeah, absolutely.
And number two is definitely tragic and awful because it's Tyler Skaggs.
and everybody is pretty well aware of his tragic death and the circumstances that, you know,
revolved around that.
There was, you know, there's a locker room attendant.
I'm not sure if that's exactly what his position was, but, you know, the person that basically
was in charge of getting Tyler Skaggs, the drugs that he eventually ended up taking his life.
But just an outstanding pitcher, an outstanding prospect, somebody that the Diamondbacks had a lot of, a lot of hoping at the time, right?
So, again, not necessarily the Trevor Bauer situation because this is just definitely tragic and awful and something we all wish never happened.
But yeah, the Diamondbacks had the number one, number two, as Trevor Bauer and Tyler Skag.
I remember also this being one of my first seasons of covering the team in spring training and the entire season.
And I remember what an impression Patrick Corbin made on me.
And not only on me, but on the entire team.
He ended up making the starting rotation.
And I believe that was over Tyler Skaggs at the time.
And if I'm not mistaken, it was one of those situations where Skaggs kind of, it was his position.
to lose and somehow Corbin
snuck up and got that
starting rotation position. Patrick
Corbin ranked eighth on this
list of the top 20
prospects from that period of time.
Well, David Holmberg clearly
was worthy of being ranked
ahead of Patrick Corbyn, don't you think? Yes,
I absolutely think that, Jesse.
And Chris Owings, too,
at shortstop at fourth. Yeah, I'd say
Chris Owings over Patrick Corbyn's career.
So let's address this.
Of the 20,
There are four players on this list that currently aren't on a major league or minor league team.
Those four players are Chris Owings at fourth, David Holmberg at seventh, Adam Eaton, Spanky at 16th, and Justin Bianco at 19th.
So those are the four that are currently not with any kind of team in any way.
There's got to be a glitch here, Derek, because the list says that Adam Eaton is 44 years.
years old. I'm not, I don't know. I don't know he's quite that old. It's only, it's only been nine years
since, uh, since this list is made. That's pretty funny. But some of those guys might, yeah,
somebody's trying to mess with it in here. But yeah, Chris Owings will probably sign a minor league deal
somewhere, maybe a major league deal, probably a minor league deal. So I don't think his career is done.
Adam Eaton, I think still has, uh, some, some life in his career. But, uh, yeah, David Holberg,
by the way, 33 years old. 33. 33.
Yeah, just, yeah, just a little mistake there on their part.
A little mistake.
But hey, who cares?
I mean, nobody's going to this website right now anyway.
And all the players who are on major league teams and not minor league teams do not have a profile picture on this list, which is another funny thing.
Also, there are a considerable number of players currently with minor league teams on this list.
At fifth, Matt Davidson, third baseman, is with Los Angeles.
Dodgers, he was a big, he was a big time prospect.
They traded him for Addison Reed, who is supposed to be a big time reliever.
And we all know that neither of those things really wound up, really wound up fanning out.
But yeah, so we should, we should, oh yeah, go ahead.
I'm sorry if I'm bouncing around too much here.
I just, I wasn't planning on covering the whole list in order necessarily, but.
Oh, yeah, no, there's a lot of names here.
Yeah.
We have Michael Perez with the Pittsburgh Pirates, AAA, Evan Marshall, with
the Chicago White Sox organization, AAA.
Again, we remember Evan and a great, great, great reliever.
And let's see here.
We have Anthony, see, these are the ones that are interesting to me.
31 year old Anthony Mio is with the Diamondbacks in Singleton A, still to this day.
What?
There's no way.
That's what it's saying.
It's sad.
I mean, this website also told us that out of Eaton is 40.
44 years old.
MLB.com might not be
I got to cross-referenced this because it's saying
Anthony Mio,
single A is a pitcher.
Yeah, yeah.
Charles Brewer.
Anthony Mio has not pitched in Vialia since 2013.
So I think we're being,
we're being a little misled here.
All right.
Apparently the 2012 prospect list is not something that they really
update anymore.
Yeah, well, that's a shame.
Because Charles Brewer only pitched one season in the
That was 2013, and he is no longer with the Diamondback.
He was kind of a, people really like Charles Brewer.
He was kind of a fan favorite in his pretty small amount of time in the majors.
But I remember vividly his call up and everything.
He was someone a lot of people were excited about.
Let's get back on to the more notable names that people would remember and recognize.
Third overall prospect with the Diamondbacks in 2012 was Archie Bradley.
Wow.
That's a guy we remember, right?
That was, I mean, those four guys, Trevor Bauer, Tyler Skaggs, Archie Bradley, and Patrick Corbyn, that was supposed to be our starting rotation.
That was it.
Yeah.
It was supposed to be those four guys.
That was the future of this team, kind of like what we're talking about now, where they are going to be turning to, you know, prospects to come up and hopefully be able to deliver.
And we do have a lot of good starting pitching prospects right now as well.
So that's another similarity to what's going on right now.
Yeah, and these were, I mean, these were very highly touted prospects.
Just for fun, I went over to baseball America and they save their organizational prospect rankings over the years.
And so I pulled up their prospect rankings from 2012 just in terms of overall team systems.
And they had the Diamondback system ranked fourth in 2012.
Wow.
This was a really, this is really good.
And it's notable because in 2011, they had the Diamondbacks ranked 22nd.
And in 2010, it was ranked 28th.
So this was a huge turning point year for them.
And the reason is because the Diamondbacks had two top seven picks in the draft in 2011.
And with those picks, they took Trevor Vauer and Archie Bradley.
They had two first round picks in the draft.
And they very much took advantage in taking both of those guys.
and that shot them up organizational prospect rankings.
Well, and I'll tell you, we'll probably have an article up on go phnx.com about this
just because of how interesting this is turning out to be.
But there's so many similarities to that period of time and this period of time.
Let's hope that it works out better for the Diamondbacks now than it did.
Because obviously, even though a lot of those guys still turned into be very good players,
there was still a lack of that success happening here on this team for the Diamondbacks
with a lot of those names, unfortunately.
But Jesse has an article up that kind of takes a look at, again, we talked about yesterday,
but the free agents that the Arizona Diamondbacks have acquired under Mike Hazen and the results of those.
So make sure to go over to go phnx.com.

article. It's very, very good. And again, there's quite a bit of interesting information about the
mixed results of free agency acquisitions under GM.
for this team. But right now, I wanted to take a look still at a couple more prospects on this
list that still stick out to me. And, you know, guys that have turned themselves, had themselves
a nice career. A.J. Pollock was ranked six on this list of the top 20 outfielder, somebody we're
all very familiar with. He's really good right now, Derek. He's really, he's really been good on the
Dodgers and it's tough. It's tough to watch. Well, and honestly, like,
We've talked in the past about AJ being limited by injuries and all sorts of that.
Things like that.
We kind of made fun about how he was going to go over and break like a piece of ceramic,
you know, with the Dodgers.
And he didn't.
He's been pretty good for that team.
So again,
another guy that the Diamondbacks were not wrong about.
And I don't really think this prospect got wrong.
This prospect list got wrong by having him ranked so high.
But a couple of other guys, guys that were pretty good friends,
a duo, if you will, that were ranked.
12th and 13th, we had Wade Miley and Andrew Chafin.
Wow.
Wow.
Wade Miley is still,
Wade Miley is puzzling because like I still don't understand how the guy gets so many
people out,
but he's just,
he's just,
he's just feisty, man.
Like I think Wade Miley's going to pitch until he's like 40 years old.
He's 35 right now.
And a lot of people were really shocked.
I think it was,
I think he most recently played with the Cincinnati Reds.
He did.
and they decided to, I think they non-tendered him, I want to say.
They didn't bring him back.
And a lot of people are very puzzled by that because Wade Miley had a pretty darn good year with the Reds last season.
12 and 7 and 28 starts with a 3.370 RA.
Wow.
Yeah, like, 25 strikeouts, 50 walks.
That's insane.
That's insane.
He had one of his best strikeouts to walk season in his career.
I mean, up there, probably like his third best season.
And he has been pitching at a major league level, got started his career with Diamondbacks in 2011.
He has been pitching at a major league level now for 10 years straight and has some pretty consistent numbers.
You know, I would say that there was a rough stretch there after he,
left the Diamondbacks where he didn't look so hot, and he really got things back on track
with not only with Milwaukee when he went over to Milwaukee, but definitely with Cincinnati.
So, but yeah, 2019, 3.980 RA this year, 3.37. Good stuff. And I mean, at this point,
let's be honest, Diamondbacks would happily take a guy with that kind of strikeout to walk
ratio and a 3.370 RA on the starting rotation, considering what they got last season out of
some of their guys. Yeah, it looks like, so the Chicago Cubs ultimately claimed him off waivers.
He had a $10 million option and the Reds didn't be worth $10 million. So they decided to just
just let him go. Old Calhoun got picked up by the Texas Rangers after the Diamondbacks decided
not to not to pick up his contract. And again, it's one of those things where obviously his
value was not as high as his contract dictated. And I think the Diamondbacks were smart to move on
from that, but I absolutely would not be surprised to see Cole Calhoun go off and find success
elsewhere.
Yeah.
Yeah, that's kind of what I'm afraid of there.
He was just hurt last year, so it's hard to expect much.
Exactly.
But when you talk about going out and finding success elsewhere, fucking Andrew Chafin,
not only do I miss Andrew Chafin just because I miss Andrew Chafin, but he had a 1.53
ERA last season with the Oakland A's.
not to mention he's all he's always had an era mid ones derrick i mean that's that's the andrew chafin
we've always known i will fight you i will fly to seattle to fight you jesse i don't want like
condescending me the dot look cardinals people already have be fired up i'm in the red already
so you don't want to get me started but holy shit man a 1.53 era i mean when you talk about
his last two seasons 2.06 er a he had a 1.8.
83 ERA in
2021 total between
his time with the Cubs and Oakland.
But he just got better as a
member of the Oakland A's and, you know, had
a lot of games. He pitched in 28
games for them. So again,
when the Diamondbacks are hurting so bad
for relief pitching, it pains me to
see someone like Andrew Chafin, who I want
back so bad. Have you seen his hair?
Have you seen his fucking
hair? It is incredible,
Jesse.
He's always been, he's always been
kind of a colorful guy.
Oh, yeah.
He's only taking it to new levels out there in Chicago.
So, yeah.
He was drafted 43rd in the first round of the 2011 MLB June amateur draft.
And we miss him dearly.
Miss him dearly.
We do.
We do.
But yeah.
He's a free agent.
He's going to head do a new team, actually.
Yeah, let's get him back here.
Let's get him back here.
Yeah, I wouldn't count on it.
But we'll see what happens there.
You know, he's going to go to.
going to go to the fucking Mets. He's going to go to the New York Mets where all the former
Diamondbacks are located now currently. There you go.
Interesting list. Not no, not, not any, I don't know, not really any notable names aside
from those guys on there. But yeah, man, I mean, this list was definitely very picture heavy.
And I think, yeah, I think they were right about a couple of guns. Their system was very, their system
was very picture heavy at the time. Now it's kind of flipped where it's Corbyn Carroll and Alec Thomas
and Christian Robinson and and the pitchers are are there.
They're right there in the middle of, yeah.
Yeah, they're right there, though, in that middle of the top 10.
And it's going to be exciting to see if they can develop them into something, right?
I mean, that's now that's where we're back around to seeing these guys now become those guys that we just talked about.
But hopefully not the Trevor Bowers and definitely not the Tyler Skaggs, right?
We don't want any more tragedy.
We don't want any more.
know, terrible behavior out of people that causes, you know, like,
it, I think the tragic part about Trevor Bauer is, uh, if, you know,
if he never plays again, that, that absolute waste of how talented he was and how good
he became over, over something like what he was accused of doing, which I'm,
I'm not going to get into that.
It's just all sad.
And it's all, it's all bad at the top of, of that list.
But, uh, I will say that there is some interesting story.
through there. And what I really want to see is, I want to see a similar acquisition of talent
where the Diamondbacks, you know, are ranked very high. But I want to see these guys come,
stay on the team. I want to see the Diamondbacks pull the Houston Astros, not with the banging
of the trash cans and the cheating, but with bringing guys up from the farm system. Yeah, which part. Let's get
these guys up. Let's make them into superstars and let's pay them a whole bunch of money to keep
from here for a while. That's something that's new that we should try. But we'll see what happens
with the Arizona Diamondbacks and baseball because, of course, we are still locked out and we do not
have a key. So we will keep you guys posted on any news that happens, mostly minor league news,
but we'll have some fun stuff to talk about. I think later in this week, Jesse and I are going
cast the official actors for the 2020 or the 2001, Arizona Diamondbacks, 2021. No one wants to watch
the 2021 Arizona.
Yeah.
I don't think anyone's going to watch that movie, Derek.
But with the,
with the Kurt Warner life story coming out,
that underdog movie that's coming out,
I am compelled to wonder which actors Jesse and I would cast in that movie.
So stick around later this week for that.
And we'll have some more.
I better Google some names of actors.
So I know.
Oh, God damn it, Jesse.
This is where you really, you know,
I always talk about having you there at my deathbed at my side when I die,
Jesse.
But this is the part.
Pop culture references, it's going to drive a wedge between us, I'm telling you.
Yeah, yeah.

compelling to you.
