Starting point is 00:00:00 I hate how I'm dressed today. This one's for the nannas and the grandmas and the mammas out there. We're talking about Alec Bone possibly being a trade target for the Diamondbacks. And also we're snake drafting the most annoying adult tasks because I had to go get a passport today. Skiy! Welcome in to another edition of the PHNXDbacks podcast right here on PHNX. My name is Derek Montia, occasionally known as a guy that sometimes has to be an adult. This man next to me is your thunderstick and my vice.
Starting point is 00:00:31 mayor, the one and only Jesse Friedman. We got our guy, Kyle Cooper on the ones in Tuesdays today. So glad to see so many of you here on a wonderful, wonderful Tuesday. And Jesse, I am not looking forward to having to do adult tasks. And we're going to snake draft the most annoying adult tasks later in the show. I'm also not looking forward to, you know, waiting for these winter meetings to come because they cannot come fast enough. No, we're going to send you off away.
Starting point is 00:01:00 but we really need we really need some news to happen so you're just trying to get rid of me is what you're saying it's you can't wait two benefits for three days there's that yeah I mean that's also I can't you know I can never wait to get away from you uh Nicholas asks picture day at school today mayor it's funny you say that because yeah basically was yeah basically was picture day at the Walgreens for me to get my passport but again we're going to talk about annoying tasks like having to me with I guess your your peers and trying to decide on what you're going to do for your baseball team. I'm sure as much as that gets things going, it's also just kind of a weird tradition that's, you know, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:01:44 I don't know how to describe the winter meetings at this point, but it does get the trades moving. And that's the thing that we're looking to happen at this point. Yeah, I mean, it's it's the annual baseball powwow, right? Like it is the off-season baseball event. And hearing that, you would think that there would certainly be a lot of trades for agent signings, lots of action, right? Eh, that doesn't really happen. Generally, just about nothing happens at the actual winter meetings. But it is sort of, it does kind of set the stage for the off-season.
Starting point is 00:02:22 Maybe deals are not completed during the winter meetings, but they are completed shortly. thereafter. We didn't find out until after the fact, but the Diamondbacks deal with Eduardo Rodriguez that they signed last year. The news broke just as the winter meetings ended. And we found out after the fact that the Diamondbacks were having a lot of conversations with Eduardo Rodriguez and his agent over the course of the winter meetings. So yeah, sometimes it's more about setting the table than actually getting anything done. But based on the reporting we've gotten, Derek, like I think there's a decent chance that Juan Soto signs during the winter meetings, maybe before the winter meetings.
Starting point is 00:02:57 So I think there's some momentum this year to actually get some things done potentially during the event. That does have an impact overall on everything else that happens during free agency, right? I mean, that's the biggest signing. And once that deal gets done, it's kind of like what we talked about with Shohei Otani last off season where it's not necessarily just the team that gets him. It's the fact that you have a bunch of other teams that set a large amount of money, side that now have that money available for them to make other, you know, acquisitions to go after
Starting point is 00:03:31 other free agents, right? So it's not to say they're going to go out and spend their Juan Soto money on someone else or necessarily spend all of that money. But, you know, you do have to budget accordingly if you're planning on going after a name like that. And there's not just one team. I'm interested in WONSoto. There are several. So again, once that chip kind of falls, once, you know, once we know where Soto goes, then other teams can begin, you know, their free agency signings and we'll see what happens for the Arizona Diamondbacks. And we do know the Diamondbacks will be active in free agency. They have to be because they have positions to fill specifically first base. However, they might not fill that role necessarily through free agency. They might do it via a trade. And that's what we're talking about
Starting point is 00:04:13 here this morning. Of course, the first, this morning. It's very, I've had a long day. I've already tried to express that it's been i had pictures i've had stuff i had to go to the post office twice it's not been a good day but uh we do have a good trade target i think that would be a good fit for the aribex despite the fact that he is kind of a bitter rival kind of at this point yeah yeah um the name that we're going to talk about today primarily is alec bohm of the philadelphia philly someone that we know is being shopped in trades there's been quite a bit of reporting on this front already he has two years of team control remaining. And at the beginning of the off season,
Starting point is 00:04:51 I was fairly dismissive of Alec Bohm as a potential target for the Diamondbacks because they picked up Gino Suarez's option at third base, right? They have a third baseman in place for 2025, and that is generally the position that Alec Bone plays. However, Boehm has played quite a bit of first base in the past as well, basically split time at first and third 50-50 in 2023. And even in 2024, Alec Boehm played first. 15 games at first base as well.
Starting point is 00:05:19 The other option you could consider, of course, would be moving Gino Sauri as to first base and having Alec Bohm play for you at third. So it at least makes enough sense for us to bring it up on the show, which granted, the bar for that this time of year is not particularly high. However, it's, it's, look, if we can, if we can figure out a way to make it work, we're going to talk about it on this show. And you never know, because some of the things. we have talked about have come true.
Starting point is 00:05:49 And then there's other things that we were convinced of that went the other way. Again, I know that we've said it at least 27 times since we've entered the offseason, but the best replacement for Christian Walker is Christian Walker, right? And I don't, I don't have zero, like, it's not zero percent chance of him coming back, especially with the way that the Lord is Gurriel signing went last year. And that's something I very much didn't think was going to go the way it did. So since they were able to bring Lordus back, I'm fairly confident that they can, you know, potentially reach a deal to bring Christian Walker back. However, we do have to start looking at what the Diamondbacks are going to do without him.
Starting point is 00:06:26 And it's what the diamondbacks have to start doing. And I don't think that this is the worst idea, especially considering, you know, some of Alec Bome's numbers for 2024. If you look at his stats, he averaged 280 this season with a 3.32 on base percentage and a 448 slug. He had 15 home runs, 97 RBI, and a 3.5. for he was pretty good these are these are solid numbers this was the best season that alec boem has had in the majors by a fairly wide margin not all that long ago boem looked like a highly touted prospect who maybe just wasn't really going to pan out first couple years in in the majors um were we're kind of uninspiring but as you see there that's a that's a really valuable player right
Starting point is 00:07:09 three point five fan grabs wins above replacement that's a that's a pretty big number 97 rbi as well You see the 15 homers here. Boehm is not a Christian Walker level power hitter. He's more of a gap to gap guy, big time doubles hitter. So it would not be a one for one match in terms of with Walker in terms of power. But these numbers are very strong. He had a 115 WRC plus in 2024, so about 15% better than the league average. And again, he could make some sense for the Diamondbacks if they can figure out
Starting point is 00:07:45 some defense situation to pair him with Gino Suarez. Well, and again, I mean, it's not to say that playing first base is easy, but it is easier than playing third base theoretically. So if he can play that, then I think that there's a chance that he could fill that role. The things I like about Bome is that he has a 906 OPS last season with runners in scoring position. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:05 And that's something that at times the Diamondbacks weren't very good at, right? I mean, I know this offense was the number one offense in baseball, but we also know how much of that was, you know, the long ball and what, you know, guys like Gino and Corbyn especially, we're doing in the second half. I just think that, you know, again, there's a 906 OPS with runners in scoring position on a career low strikeout rate of 14.2% in 2024. Again, the Diamondbacks seem to strike out a lot of times.
Starting point is 00:08:31 So it would be great to have that kind of offensive threat in there that, you know, is good with runners in scoring position and is going to have those strong at bats that someone like Jock Peterson had last season, who the Diamondbacks could also be losing in free agency this offseason. I'm kind of surprised just looking at the chat right now. Like people are already do not seem to be very much. Very anti-this deal. Oh, Jesse's upset.
Starting point is 00:08:56 With Alec Bohm. No, well, I mean, it's, there's a couple of things here, right? I mean, it's, there is the idea that sometimes you just hate these guys when they're on teams that are rivals, right? And you come to hate them. So it's hard to adjust to the idea of them being part of your team. There's also, you know, I guess his demeanor. you know, Alec Bome isn't like, he's not like the kind of guy that like is a solid person that you like, you're like, that's a good dude. You know, that's a good dude.
Starting point is 00:09:26 Like you see him barking a lot. You see him doing a lot of things, especially for being, you know, still somewhat of a younger player. Right. And it strikes people the wrong way. But also there's the fact that he looks like the clown from it pennywise. And a lot of people don't like that. as well he's terrifying it's terrifying but I I will say when it comes to trying to make this team better there's a good you know there could be a good trade here there could be a good fit as far as the
Starting point is 00:09:56 Phillies you know finding someone like the diamondbacks to make this deal with and and what we propose is one of the outfielders that we know the diamondbacks have already discussed receiving calls on and that would be Jake McCarthy yeah this is uh I guess we can go ahead and throw it up there this is our mock trade which I've said many times on this show, I'm very uncomfortable coming up with mock trades because it is really hard for us, you know, who don't necessarily have a great sense of what these front offices are thinking on a day-to-day basis. We have a decent sense of the Diamondbacks front office, but the Phillies front office is,
Starting point is 00:10:31 that's a harder thing for us to keep track of. So, yeah, I do think this deal makes some sense on paper. The Philadelphia Phillies are very clearly in the outfield market. They just non-tendered Austin Hayes, as we discussed on this show recently. They do have some room in that outfield. Johan Rojas has been playing center field for them quite a bit here over the last couple of seasons. And while he is an outstanding defender, he leaves a lot to be desired offensively. And I think the Phillies are also a team that wants to step away from swing and miss a little bit.
Starting point is 00:11:04 We've seen that at times become a flaw for them in the postseason, even when the Diamondbacks beat them in 23 that they chase out of the zone a lot. There's a lot of swing and miss. You know, do they have power? Can they hit the ball over the fence? Absolutely. But when you have a lineup that's built on Kyle Schwerber and Bryce Harper and Nick Castiano, you know, these guys are good hitters in general, but they're all kind of
Starting point is 00:11:28 the same type of hitter in some ways. And Jake McCarthy would add a different element that they don't really have. He's more of a contact guy, right? Jake is not hitting for a ton of power, but he had a very, very good season. offensively in 2024, he hit 285, had it had an on-base percentage around 350. That's the type of player that I think the Phillies would really value in their outfield. If you thought the chat didn't like it before, Jesse, the chat really didn't like it since you put the trade up there for Jake McCarthy. Yeah, no, I mean, there's some some good points out there in regards to, you know, you'd rather see the Diamondbacks go out and add to first base through free agency rather than making a trade like this.
Starting point is 00:12:08 and that's very true and you don't know especially if bone would work out at first base you have a feeling that he would though i mean again a decent defender at third and and moving over to first base wouldn't you know theoretically be too difficult for him yeah that's a point that we should probably try to try to hone in on a little bit more like what would the diamond backs do here my inclination knowing the diamond backs is that they would be hesitant to have gino swaris learn a new position yeah he has never played first base professionally, not in the majors, not in the minors either. And knowing this team and how much they value guys being comfortable at, you know, at their position on defense, it's hard for me to imagine them saying, all right, Alec Bohm, you know, yes, he has substantially more first base experience than, than Gino does. But because his defensive metrics were a little bit better in 2024, which they were, we want Boehm to play third and Gino to move over to first and learn a new position.
Starting point is 00:13:09 It just doesn't feel like something the Diamondbacks would do. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe they would. But it feels to me like if you make this move, you're probably having Alec Boeim play the majority of the time at first base. You're converting him back to a first baseman, which I think is a position that he could play pretty well. He took some significant strides forward defensively this past season.
Starting point is 00:13:29 If you move him back over to first full time or close to full time, I think he could be an asset there for you. And then the other aspect of this is that Gino Suarez only has one more year of club control remaining, right? He becomes a free agent after 2025, whereas Alec Bohm has two years of control. So Bome would then become theoretically your third baseman for the 2025 season. And that would give the Diamondbacks at least some coverage in that area until, you know, maybe a Jordan Lawler, maybe a Gino Groover, some of these other guys that we've talked about would be ready to take over that position. Wouldn't you think that Jordan Lawler would be ready? by that period of time.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Like it almost feels like we're going to see Lawler in 2025. So I don't know how much they need to invest in the future. But they don't really have a future at first base. Do they? Like what is their plan as of now for the future at first base? Yeah, that's a fair point. It's like, all right, great. So, so Bome becomes your third baseman in 2026.
Starting point is 00:14:24 Then who is your first baseman in 2026? Pavin Smith. It's always the answer. They would have to, they would have to figure out a solution on that front. Here's the thing. Damon just walked in and AZ, devil dog AZ said it earlier, but I'm going to sweeten the pot with this trade. We're going to trade one Jake McCarthy to the Phillies for Alec Bome, but we're also going to throw in Garrett Stubbs. Now, here's the reason why. Once Garrett Stubbs is on the team, we're going to dress him up in the Baxter mascot uniform without the head. And he is going to go out there and dance his ass off every single baseball game. Now what are you? think about the trade. Did that sweeten the pot enough to maybe move the needle a little bit for you? I don't know. I think everyone's
Starting point is 00:15:09 on board there. Yeah. I mean, that's what there's also the idea that Jake McCarthy might be a little redundant there for the Phillies, right, uh, with Brandon Marsh. And I also do not want Jake McCarthy's hair anywhere near Brandon Marsh's hair or his beer. I don't want that amount
Starting point is 00:15:24 of moisture in the vicinity of Jake McCarthy's wonderful locks. Yeah, that's fair. Right? What if he started, again, he started learning from Jack Peterson. What if he starts picking up bad habits for Brandon Marsh. Right, right. I don't know. Yeah, as far as this mock trade that we came up with, you know,
Starting point is 00:15:40 say what you will about whether you would want to make this trade if you're a Diamondbacks fan. I do think it's pretty fair, at least on paper. Alec Bohm is a better baseball player than Jake McCarthy right now. Yeah. Just objectively, like one guy was worth 3.5 wins above replacement in 2024. McCarthy, if I can check his fan graphs number real quick, he was at 3.0. there's a much bigger disparity between them on baseball reference. But yeah, I think it's pretty clear that Diamondbacks have a lot more depth in the outfield than they do in the infield,
Starting point is 00:16:10 not to say that losing Jake would be easy. But this is a trade that I think makes the Diamondbacks a better team pretty clearly. It solves a big need right now at the infield corners. However, the Diamondbacks would work that out with Gino Suarez. But, yeah, the question is, you know, is this something that the Diamondbacks would, would want to do? Are they willing to move on from Jake in order to in order to fill that need?
Starting point is 00:16:36 And then on the Phillies side, I don't know if they would necessarily say yes. I think this trade is helpful for the Phillies in some ways. I think it does give them what they're looking for. They have had some reported interest in Jake in the past. But are they willing to part with a player who was a pretty big part of their offense in 2024 and
Starting point is 00:16:53 Alec Boe? I'm also, I also don't like that. I'm against this trade because you just said it would help the Phillies and I don't want that. I want to hurt the Phillies. I want to do anything I can to bring that franchise down from from within, you know? Maybe Jake's the guy. I don't know. Maybe Jake's a good double agent. We'll figure it out. But we have more trades like this to go over. This isn't the only one. This is just the beginning. If you don't like this one, surely you'll like the one we're about to talk about on the other side of this break. Yeah, there you go. There's a teaser. Don't go anywhere. We'll be right

Starting point is 00:19:32 Well, we do have a couple of more notes on Alec Boehm before we move on. I just want to just can't stop talking about him. I just wanted to acknowledge real quick what some people were saying earlier about the vibes about, you know, Alec Boe's personality. That comes, I believe, from a recent statement from A.J. Prisinski, who's been on the show, yes? I don't believe so. I've been on his show. Yeah, right, right.
Starting point is 00:19:58 Yeah, he'll probably be on the show at some point. We love A.J. Prisinski around here. But A.J. Prisinski on foul territory recently said this about Alec Bohm. There are some people around that organization that aren't huge fans of the way he acts sometimes, and I am just going to leave it at that. There are some people that have said he needs to basically grow up a little bit. He got benched in the playoffs. If you remember, in game three, he got benched.
Starting point is 00:20:19 It had to do with both underperformance and immaturity. That's what A.J. Prisinski had to say, talking with some people in the organization. It's a little bit hard to know exactly. what to do with that, but I do just want to acknowledge what some people were saying, those concerns about the vibes maybe being off with that move. Jake McCarthy, of course, is very much beloved, both in the clubhouse and among the fan base as well. So hard to know what to do with that, but I do see where people are coming from. Well, I will tell you, if you don't like the idea of us trading Jake McCarthy, how about the idea
Starting point is 00:20:54 of us trading one, Alec Thomas? And of course, it wouldn't just be Alec Thomas. You have to talk about what they're getting first. This is not the way to pitch trades to this bandbakes. I like to get them angry first and then I like to let you try to figure like calm them down with the trade. Now, I think, of course, there are some options out there. And the one thing that we've talked about is that the Diamondbacks need a first baseman. Alec Bome does serve that problem, solve that problem.
Starting point is 00:21:20 But we don't know, again, based on, you know, what he's been playing for the Phillies, how good he would be in that role. It's hard to fill the shoes of Christian Walker because that man is an incredible first basement. Christian Dixon Walker is a legend here for a reason. And that's because his defense is hard to replicate. And you don't know for sure if you're going to get that out of the bomb. One good option could be Ryan Mountcastle, which is a guy that has had some pretty good defense. He's also a player with some years of control underneath him. Had a pretty decent season in 2024.
Starting point is 00:21:54 maybe could be that answer for the Diamondbacks. Ryan Mountcastle, another guy who I think has a decent chance to be traded this offseason first baseman from the Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles have had like way too many position players and not enough space for them for like several years at this point. It really is an embarrassment of riches. And so I think there's a there's a decent chance that Mount Castle could be moved this off season and a decent chance the Diamondbacks would be interested. If we look at Mount Castle's stats for the 2020, season. These numbers aren't going to blow you away.
Starting point is 00:22:26 271, 308, 425 slash sign 13 homers 63 RBI, 1.5 wins above replacement. The one thing I'll say about Matt Castle real quick is that he was very much hurt by the Orioles decision to move their left field fence back, which is a decision they made prior to the 2022 season. Aren't they doing it again? Yeah, well, they're moving it forward now and making it lower. So in some ways it'd be very sad if Mount Castle was traded now because he's like, great, just as they move the fence back in, now I'm heading somewhere else. He was very much hurt by that. Right-handed hitters with pole side power. That was about as difficult of a ballpark to hit as any in the league. So you look at his expected stats compared to his actual stats for
Starting point is 00:23:16 the last three seasons. Since that, since that adjustment was made, there's a huge difference there. his expected stats are significantly better than the numbers we just showed. Yeah. And I mean, again, it's it, the expected stats are what they are. You also have the fact that he would be playing in a different ballpark here in Arizona. Right. I think the, the thing I like about him is he's 27 years old, the two years of club control remaining. He was estimated to make 6.6 million arbitration in 2025.
Starting point is 00:23:45 So he should be a lower cost, I mean, option potentially. Yeah, Bome. I don't think we gave that number for Bome. Boehm is estimated to make 8.1 million in 2025. So Boehm is just a little bit more expensive, but they're pretty similar both guys with two years of control. Well, and I mean, there's the idea here is that the Diamondbacks are still looking to solve their problem for first base beyond just next year. And yes, Bowman would do that as well.
Starting point is 00:24:11 But I feel like Ryan Mountcastle kind of fits the core of this team that is currently here. He kind of fits the age range of the guys who are here. and he could be just another piece of that core for years to come if the diamondbacks add him and can, you know, maybe extend him or just have him be part of this team going forward. I mean, right now, you know, his, his chase rate was 38%, which was four in the fourth percentile in 2020. Yeah, that's, which isn't great. That is really, really high. That is really, really high. And it's, it's the reason why he really did not draw walks in 2024 in the way that we're used to seeing.
Starting point is 00:24:48 5.3% walk rate. Yeah. 5.3% walk rate is really low. That's why his on-base percentage, as we said earlier, was only 308. I do think this could progress back to the middle a little bit. He has not chased this much in years past. He's never been a guy to walk a ton, but 5.3% was his lowest walk rate of his career by a pretty decent margin, especially knowing the Diamondbacks and how much they value guys being patient at the plate.
Starting point is 00:25:15 It sort of seems to be a team-wide philosophy. And I wonder if he would maybe embrace that to an extent or even regardless of what team he's playing for, just sort of make it a goal for himself to chase less in 2025. I think that would be a big benefit to him. Well, and that's not something that the Diamondbacks weren't great at either last year, right? I mean, they on the whole are pretty decent at that. You know, guys like Geraldo Perdomo, for example, who work like just ruthless at bats. The Diamondbacks have, I think, a decent reputation in that regard. Even Christian Walker.
Starting point is 00:25:53 And this is one of the main distinguishing factors between Mount Castle and Walker. They both have a pretty good amount of power. Like I said earlier, those 13 homers, I think that number goes up maybe significantly if he gets out of that ballpark. The power is there for Mount Castle. However, he doesn't work at bats the way that Christian. Walker did. Walker has run an above average walk rate for for several years in a row now. Mount Castle is not that guy. Well, one guy's name is Walker and one guy's name is Mount Castle, Jesse. As people are pointing out, man, Mount Castle is an incredible name. And it's worth
Starting point is 00:26:29 trading for him alone. I think it was Rickety Bridge said it first, but he said, Mount Castle is such a new kid. I'm not even like, I don't feel like we should just say it like that. I feel like we should like say it like, I don't know, like a name on like killer instinct video game. She's like Mount Castle or something crazy like that. Also, 2BMC says judging by his last name, I presume he comes from a long line of badass medieval nights. So what the hell? Let's do it. They're on board with this one, Jesse.
Starting point is 00:26:54 What's it going to cost? Yeah. And I feel like they're on board with it just because they like the name of Mount Castle more than they like the name. Boom. But just fair. I also like the last name Mount Castle more than I would probably like the last name. All I'm saying is is that sometimes like as a GM you, you go. with the numbers, the stats, you go with fan graphs, you go with war.
Starting point is 00:27:15 Sometimes you just go with a feeling. Yeah, and you get a feeling from a name like Mountcastle, right? Yeah, absolutely. Like I want a Mount Castle jersey. I haven't seen them play one game as a Diamondback, but it might cost quite a bit. Yeah, yeah. So we came up with a mock trade for this once again. Please don't yell at me any of you, even though I know that you will.
Starting point is 00:27:36 Go off. So we have Ryan Mountcastle coming to the Diamondbacks. Again, that's two years of club control. In exchange for two players, you mentioned Alec Thomas earlier. He has four years of club control remaining. And the other player here, someone that I think people, maybe not so on board with this, right-handed pitcher, Gilbert Diaz, I have as being the other piece in this trade. On paper, I think it's relatively fair.
Starting point is 00:28:02 I'm definitely open to what people think. The reality is that Alec Thomas is not, you know, I think he's probably viewed more highly than maybe what his numbers so far and the majors would suggest. But the reality is Alec Thomas has not really proven that he can hit in the big leagues yet. And the other reality that I would point to here, Gilbert Diaz, like that, that is a big name to part with in this trade. I acknowledge that. But objectively speaking, I think that Gilbert Diaz has, there's a fair amount of relief pitcher risk there. do I think it's a it's sure to happen not necessarily he definitely held his own in those whatever
Starting point is 00:28:43 it was four starts that he made in 2024 but if you're other teams I don't think are going to view gilbert diaz as a slam dunk starting pitcher for six seasons in the majors sure there there's people are going to perceive some risk there as they are with alice thomas and if you're getting two years of control of a pretty good player in ryan mountcastle it's it's gonna hurt right and I mean, that's the other thing I would say is like if we showed a mock trade proposal and you as a debax fan, we're like, oh, yes, I love this. That probably means that we're not doing our job as analysts and making the trade actually fair for the other team. It's going to hurt to get one of these guys and understandably that this one that we've presented does as well. Yeah, I think so.
Starting point is 00:29:28 And I mean, it's got to be fair. And the one thing about guys like Alec Thomas is that he still hasn't proven himself at a major league level. has Yulbert Diaz besides a handful of starts, right? And even those started to go, or you could say he came back down to earth after a few starts. So again, the benefit there is that you know that Ryan Mountcastle is a major league first baseman and that he can be that for you as a franchise, whereas I think you could still be tentative right now. You could be cautiously optimistic for those other two guys, but you cannot say that either one of those guys are proven as of this point. So that could be why it works. However, some people are more receptive to this one. There's
Starting point is 00:30:10 still some people that hate it. Brian Abdallah earlier in the chat brought up Seth's beer as a person that existed at one point. It's funny that you bring that up because can I interest you in my stock of Seth Beer merchandise that I still have in my garage, those Sethservaisa shirts. The Rickety Bridge says, what? I don't know. Ball. There's a dude named Seth Beer. Yes, Rickety Bridge and one time on opening day on on on national beer day on opening day at Chase Field he had a walk off home run that caused a stranger on the street to give me a kiss on the cheek while I was in the middle of doing the show it might be like it might be like a top 10 I'm not going to say top five overall Diamondbacks moment in franchise history but if we're
Starting point is 00:30:56 narrowing in on the regular season yeah it might be in the top 10 because like national Bearday, Seth Beer, admittedly, is sort of falling off the baseball map since then. I think he's in the Pirates minor league system right now. But at the time, Seth Beer, what people were excited about Seth Beer, potentially being a member of this team for a very long time. And for a few weeks in 2022, he very much lived up to the high. It was a magical four weeks. Yeah, I still have those shirts.
Starting point is 00:31:29 And yes, everybody in my family is getting one for Christmas. this year. It's basically I'm holding back on all the curse words. I can't say on the show anymore. And I'm reserving them. I'm even learning some new ones just so I can really, really get into it.

If that won't get people to come, I don't know what well. So most importantly, come hang out with these two guys because we'd love to see it and find out more on that over at go phtonx.com slash events. Well, again, I moved on from the Ryan Mountcastle conversation before Jesse was done because he can't stop talking about trading away. or young outfielders. What are you got?
Starting point is 00:35:34 Thanks for that, Derek. Yeah, no problem. I'm just trying to make sure I put all the blame on you. Just a couple more things before we, before we move on to a different topic. I do want to talk about the Orioles side of this.
Starting point is 00:35:45 Like, why would the Orioles be interested in this trade? I think that's a pretty important factor. Honestly, I don't know that they would. Alec Thomas is, I think a player that fits their roster in some ways in that Cedric Mullins is getting a little bit older.
Starting point is 00:35:59 And moving him to a corner outfield spot might not be the worst thing. at this stage in his career, but he also still had pretty decent defensive metrics in center field in 2024. So they do have a question mark in the long term in center field, but it's not something they necessarily need to address right away. I'm also not totally sure if they would want a left-handed hitting outfielder because they already have several of those in Mollins and Heston Kirstadt and in Colton Kouser.
Starting point is 00:36:26 So that would be another factor I'm not so sure about. And then finally, with Gilbert Diaz, as much as I do think he could be an intriguing piece for them. The Orioles are in a win now mode. And while Diaz did have some success in the majors in 2024, I'm not sure how they would view him. Like, would they want Diaz to be their number five starter on opening day? I could maybe see a path to that, but I'm not sure that Diaz has proven himself enough for the Orioles to be in on him as of right now, at least in a trade like this where you're giving away a major league ready piece in Ryan Mountcastle. So, I feel better about the Phillies being interested in the Bowman McCarthy deal than I do the Orioles being
Starting point is 00:37:08 interested in this one. Again, we're kind of taking a shot in the dark here. I think it's roughly fair. I know R.A. mentioned earlier that if you run it through the machine at baseball trade values, it says that the Diamondbacks are giving up too much. I don't put a ton of stock in what that website says. It's told me some pretty bizarre things over the years. How dare you?
Starting point is 00:37:29 But I will say again that I think Mount Castle is kind of a different. different guy a difficult guy to project just because there's been this disparity between his actual stats and his expected stats for for three straight years in large part because of of the fence in in Baltimore so I would wonder if maybe the baseball trade values algorithm is is undervaluing him a little bit for that reason we can move on now do you do you deal with this everyday dressing like an adult every day like with clothes I mean you don't ever dress comfortably and I hate this that I'm dressed in and I don't mean to I do dress comfortably I just I don't know about I'm just comfortable in a like a long sleeve shirt and jeans I think the wildest thing is I showed
Starting point is 00:38:13 up today to work in a flannel shirt and jeans and the the response was Derek why are you dressed up so nice it was a wild take I think I said what are you wearing it was I think people asked me if I had court today there was a lot of things that came out of people's mouse but part part of it for me just real quick is that in my previous job i had to wear a suit every single day so for me wearing like you know a t-shirt oftentimes and jeans to work every day is quite a luxury so i get it i get to make that clear meanwhile i'm over here complaining about wearing a button up shirt that is that fits uh but we have a lot of grievances we have a lot of things we hate today we decided that we are going to do a phnx diamond back so
Starting point is 00:39:01 snake draft on the most annoying adult tasks. And this comes on the heels of you waiting forever to get your passport appointment today and me getting an oil change this morning as well that also took forever. It's not just that. It's the steps. It's the steps. It's the red tape. It's the bureaucracy that I had to experience in order for me to simply get a passport.
Starting point is 00:39:26 And I get it. I'm a shady character. I also don't like explaining to people who I am or what my identity is. And that's apparently something that is very much a part of this process. But I figured we'd go ahead and snake draft some of our most annoying, especially this week, right? This is a week that could be very filled with annoying adult tasks that you have to do during Thanksgiving week. So I'm going to kick things off because I have had a grievance with this task, I think pretty much my entire adult life. So this isn't the passport.
Starting point is 00:39:57 You're going in different direction. No, no, we're going into pick number one. if you don't mind we're including our guy Kyle on this one he's gonna he's gonna tell us some wild stuff but I am going to go with my first thing which is paying bills really I am going to go with paying bills because why why do I have to pay bills that is just the most outrageous thing in the world I get it I know it's a part of life it's like I could lump taxes and other things into this, but just paying bills, the very concept of having to pay bills is awful. And the fact that you have to sit down and like do all hit.
Starting point is 00:40:41 I hate paying bills. I hate paying bills more than most things in life. I know there's ways to set up automatic bill pay. That's the point that I don't even do that. I could do that and I don't because that seems more annoying to me than anything else. The idea. So just to be clear. Money is just going to randomly come out of my account on a day that I might or might not remember, Jesse.
Starting point is 00:41:02 I can't have that happening. I need some control over my life. And as much as I hate paying bills, I need to not have it be set up on an automatic system. So just so we're clear, like for your, I don't know, your internet bill every month, are you like hand delivering exact change to the front door of the office? Like, how are we paying if you're refusing to use the online? system. I'm not saying I'm refusing to use the online system. I'm refusing to set up automatic bill pay. Okay. So you go on the website. So I go manually on websites and pay. Yes. Wow. Yeah, it's crazy. I mean, I can I guess to be fair, I can understand why this would be your
Starting point is 00:41:44 first overall pick if you have chosen to put, if you've chosen to put yourself in this position. Yeah. I don't really understand why you're doing it. Right. But fair. I get it. I get it. And yes, I do send telegram, Sean. What of it? What? I sometimes I send money by mail and I do it through wire transfers. Don't worry about my business. What do you got?
Starting point is 00:42:08 No, you don't get the next ride. Kyle is. We are Kyle's kids forever. And what do you got, Kyle? I'm going to copy you, Derek. Bills is also my number one pick. Wait, that's not. You have to pick something different, Kyle.
Starting point is 00:42:23 I have to. Yeah, you have to go with something different. This is a draft. So I have taken bills and bills are my thing now. You don't get bills. So you have to go with something different. I have an respect for Kyle for Kyle doing that. It's like I don't know like we can come with an easy sports analogy for this.
Starting point is 00:42:41 Right. It's like the Cardinals drafting Marvin Harrison Jr. And then the team, I don't know who the team came out that came after them was. But it's like that team being like we're also going to draft Martin Erick Jr. We're also going to take Marvin Harrison Jr. I love it. He's still like having to make decisions. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:56 Yeah, yeah, exactly. Making decisions in general. Decisions is a good one, but I'm going to put cleaning. Oh, cleaning. I'm going to put cleaning up at number one. Yeah, no, cleaning is a good one. You know what? See, again, there's weird things because I have an OCD mother.
Starting point is 00:43:12 Cleaning is part of my life that I think I enjoy a little bit. Sure, sure. But I understand where you're coming from, and that's a very good one, very annoying one. What do you got? You got two in a row. Yeah, I guess I guess I do two in a row. So my first one, tell me, Derek, if this is like part of yours, but I feel like it's pretty fair to say doing taxes.
Starting point is 00:43:34 No, that's fine. Yeah. I think that's separate from paying bills. Yeah. I can't take paying everything. But doing taxes is by, yeah, that's a great pick. I hate doing taxes so much. You only have to do it once a year.
Starting point is 00:43:50 So the frequency is not really there. but man, there's a, there's quite a bit of dread. And the amount of time I put it off until I literally wait until the 11th. I couldn't wait any longer to do my taxes than when I do it. And it takes me what? What does it take you, Jesse? Maybe 30 minutes, maybe 45. It takes me, I feel like it usually takes me longer than that.
Starting point is 00:44:12 Part of that was like the year that I got this job. I was transitioning from the previous one. And so it was a little complicated because of that. Sure. I also just just bought a house, which makes things much more complicated filing taxes. So yeah, maybe it's more of just like my personal situation, but even only having to do it once a year,
Starting point is 00:44:31 do a tax is one of the worst adult tasks. The other thing that I'll put here, I'm kind of on the fence. Maybe this makes me a bad person to say this, but voting. It is a necessary task. Everyone should vote. I voted.
Starting point is 00:44:49 However, did you see how many props? there were on that thing, Derek. And you never know if you're like voting like, oh, hey, are you voting to like not tax ice cream? But at the same time, you're now allowing felons to get out of prison earlier. Like, you never know what riders are attached to these things? Yeah. Like, I don't like, I definitely feel uncomfortable.
Starting point is 00:45:09 It feels like the time where I just straight up won't vote on things because like I'll vote, but I'll skip things that I don't really feel knowledgeable on. Right. Right. I try, but it's not easy. I think that's probably the way to go, right? Like I'd rather cast no vote. vote at all on something than like a misinformed vote.
Starting point is 00:45:25 Yes. So that would be that would be my my second item here. All right, Kyle. What do you got? You're going to see a theme with mine. Okay. It's going to be related to cleaning in some way. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:37 So for number two, I've got laundry. Yo. Yep. Yeah. Laundry. Folding it, putting it away. There's a lot of steps. There's a lot of steps.
Starting point is 00:45:51 There's a lot of steps. The whole process is awful. And again, these, like, laundry is one of those things that really makes you appreciate, like your mom, your parents, like whoever did laundry for you at one point in your life. My wife refuses to do my daughter's laundry. Really? Wow. She makes my daughter put it in, change it, fold it, put it away herself.
Starting point is 00:46:12 I respect that. That is like my daughter would rather do anything that we ask her to do rather than her own laundry. But we're teaching her at a young age of how much life. can suck. We want her to know that. My issue with laundry and I know I'm not the only person who does this but I'll just leave stuff in the dryer. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:31 Oh yeah. For days. Weeks even. Do you go back and fluff it and then still don't pull it out? You'll run it for 10, 15 minutes, to get the wrinkles out. It gets fluffed at least like three times before I actually find the time to fold it and put it away. Do you ever leave things in the
Starting point is 00:46:47 washer? Oh. I do also make that mistake. And that one, that one's a little sketchy because it gets all mildly. You ruined a shirt. There's one shirt you might never wear again because you might never get that smell out of it ever again. I don't think you have to. I don't think the shirt is ruined. I just think you have to run the cycle from the beginning all over again.
Starting point is 00:47:09 Whereas in the dryer, if you leave clothes in the dryer, then yes, they get wrinkly. But, you know, give another five minutes in the dryer, at least in my book and we call it good. Yeah, you're not wrong. All right, I got two here. My next one probably should have been my number one overall pick because I hate it more than my number one overall pick. But I was going with strategy here. I thought bills might get taken. So I went with driving, Jesse.
Starting point is 00:47:35 Wow. I love driving. I hate driving. I hate drive. There is no version of driving that I like. There's never a time where I, you know, the version of driving I like is when I'm sitting in the passenger seat, not driving. That's what I like driving is what I'm not doing it. When I'm in a car as a passenger, maybe it's because I'm the dad.
Starting point is 00:47:57 Maybe it's because I have to drive on every road trip we go, everywhere we go. Maybe it's because I hate traffic so much. I hate traffic so much. Can we talk about what the far three lanes are for, including the carpool lane? Those lanes are for going faster than the speed limit, you guys. Those lanes are going at least, I mean, they increase in range, but it goes 68 to 75, 75 to 80 and then if you're far over especially during the non carpool hours we're talking 82 minimum okay so you got to pick it up these people i drive home during rush hour and that's not the traffic's not
Starting point is 00:48:32 real it's manufactured by people that refuse to drive their goddamn cars and i ate it so much every single day and it's not like the other things i can get away from i can avoid paying bills for an entire 30 days i can avoid cleaning for as long as my wife will allow it but these other things that driving, I have to do that three times a day every single day. And I hate it so much. I hate it so much, Jesse. You could just start using your scooter. That, oh, man, I don't even like riding my scooter, to be honest, because it is a form of driving. And as you know, as I said earlier, I very much hate that. I'm going to go to task three. And then I think we'll take a quick commercial break. But I just wanted to give this.
Starting point is 00:49:12 And I mean this a no, no, this isn't pointed to anybody here at the PH&X HQ office. but my next most annoying adult task is meetings meetings of any kind which is crazy because I host a show called meetings with the mayor and maybe that's it maybe those damn teams here in the valley have finally driven me nuts but I hate meetings I hate being scheduled for a meeting I hate the impending doom that a meeting's coming up even if there's no bad information going to be shared I just don't like meetings I don't like people scheduling thing for me I want to live free and I don't want to be scheduled by your meeting I don't want to be tied down by your meeting. But I'm going to get Jesse's feedback on this on the other side of this commercial
Starting point is 00:49:53 break as well as Kyle's next pick. So we got a lot of things that annoy us. And we're going to cover all of those. Don't you go anywhere? We'll be right back. Of course, I do suggest going, if you're going anywhere at all, is to chicken and pickle. Chicken and pickle is an amazing indoor, outdoor entertainment facility. Because I could just throw going to work in there as a terrible adult task. But I love my job.
Starting point is 00:52:07 So I would be lying about that. I dropped this in the Discord before we went live that that we were going to be doing this snake draft today. And the first response I got was waking on. up. Oh, man. We got to reevaluate things if that's your pitch. You know what, though? That's actually probably my wife's most annoying task. So I get it. You can be like totally happy with the quality of your life and still really struggle with waking up. Those things are not mutually exclusive. It's hard. It's hard. All right, Kyle, what do you got? All right. For my third pick, I'm going with cooking. Oh, Kyle. I enjoy cooking. It just takes like a good
Starting point is 00:52:47 hour and a half. Yeah. Like to cook a real meal. Yeah. Sit down and cook a real meal over the stove. Yeah. It takes like a good amount of your day. When you come home from a long day, it's kind of like, oh, now I got to sit down and cook
Starting point is 00:53:01 a meal. Yeah. It's going to take a while. Yeah. And I just want to eat some food and lay in bed. I get it. I mean, like, again, there's people that enjoy cooking. I do the cooking in my house, but I don't enjoy it.
Starting point is 00:53:12 No. And like that's the misconception that me and me and my wife can't get on the same page. She's like, you're a good cook and you enjoy it. No, I tend to do things in life like take, you know, an edible and listen to some good music while I'm doing something I dislike like cooking. So I make the best of it, but it still doesn't mean I enjoy the task that I'm doing. Sure. You know? Yeah, that was going to be my next pick.
Starting point is 00:53:36 That's a good one, Kyle. I did some meal prep last night, which is something I really don't enjoy doing. And I think I put it off for quite a while. and then when I actually started, I think it was 8.30. And by the time I was done like cleaning the kitchen, I think it was 11 o'clock at night. It was a two and a half hour process. Maybe that's more of an indictment on my cooking abilities than anything else, which is fair. But yes, it does, it does take forever.
Starting point is 00:54:05 So that's a good one. So I have to pivot here. I think I'm going to go with yard work is my next one. You know, cleaning is cleaning is a bit monotonous, not my favorite thing necessarily. But it doesn't take all that long, I guess, depending on what you're cleaning. And there's a good amount of satisfaction that comes with it. Yard work is one of those things that it just feels like you don't make progress, at least for me. Maybe that, again, says more about like the quality of my yard and how bad I allow it.
Starting point is 00:54:43 I thought to get. Maybe if you did more maintaining instead of annual cleaning, you might feel a little differently about that. If I did some quality yard maintenance, maybe this wouldn't show up on there. But yard work is not enjoyable. I mean, it is satisfying afterward, but like nine hours later, you know, like there's not a lot of immediate satisfaction with yard work. I will say this, not to catch you off, but the one thing that sometimes like television shows,
Starting point is 00:55:12 which I know you're not a fan of, can do for you as they can inspire you. And watching lots and lots of King of the Hill made me like proud to be a homeowner. And I think it brainwashed me into enjoying certain tasks. So you enjoy yard work? I like mowing my yard. Okay.
Starting point is 00:55:29 Mowing the lawn. That's that's like a fairly simple task. Right. And I have a small yard. It's not very big. You know what I mean? Sure. But yeah,
Starting point is 00:55:36 still like there's parts about it that are enjoyable. I just don't understand like like plants. just grow extremely fast sometimes. There's this tree in my backyard that did not exist probably a year ago. And it just sprouted up all of a sudden. And I was like, oh, look at this cute little tree. Like, it's so sweet and isn't. And it's kind of, it kind of looks nice.
Starting point is 00:56:02 Now it has taken over the whole thing to the point where it like sticks through this like trellis thing in my backyard. We have like this kind of overhang sort of a deal, and it's sticking up through that and like putting a bunch of pressure on some of on some of the like wooden beams and whatnot. Mother nature is undefeated, Jesse. And the other part of this is that our irrigation system no longer works in the backyard. And so we have this theory that like this tree like choked out some of the irrigation system so that it doesn't work. So again, my situation may be a little bit different from like the average person. it's a bit of a disaster right now.
Starting point is 00:56:42 But anyway, the other pick that I will make here, I guess is, I'll just do it, DMV. Nobody likes going to the DMV. It takes forever. And I guess there's sort of a pattern developing with my choices of like not liking government institutions. Yeah, oh, yeah. I see that very strongly. After what I've gone through, my pick should look like your picks. But yeah, that one sort of goes without explanation.
Starting point is 00:57:12 We've probably all seen Zootopia where they depict this situation very accurately. Yes. And we've all seen Zootopia. Not my happy place. I think that's the third or fourth time this month that you've quoted something from Zutopia potentially. I don't know. All right, Kyle, what do you got for your next one? For my next one, I'm going to see how I'm going to make this fit, but being on time.
Starting point is 00:57:35 Punctuality. Oh, there you go. Yeah. That's, it's awful. It really is such an unnecessary time. So it's like time management sort of. Like that would be another way of saying that. Like early morning like be there at a certain time.
Starting point is 00:57:51 Some reason I always wake up in time. And then somehow my morning routine just takes forever. Yeah. Like every time. I have weird things where I will walk around my house even though when I'm on time because I have time to kill. and then somehow I will just lose that time. This also goes with my meetings thing. I don't like you controlling my time.
Starting point is 00:58:14 I don't want my time to be on your time. So I'm with you 100% on that. Also, once again, humans created the idea of time. So it's a construct of man. It's not a real thing. It's not a real thing. All right. So I guess for my two picks,
Starting point is 00:58:29 I was going to go with picking up dog poop, but I feel like that's very much yard work. I have three dogs and one cat that poops in the yard. So that's very much a problem for me, but I'll go ahead and go on to my next one, which is calling tech support. Let's just say tech support. Calling anybody of any kind of support. I guess a good check. Calling support, calling any kind of like I have to call to adjust my bill or there was a problem or my internet's not working or whatever. Any kind of like customer service situation. Yeah, exactly. Just in general
Starting point is 00:59:01 of having to speak to someone on the phone, wait that time frame, figure out what number. to push in order to get to the right person, being transferred, all that stupid crap. I hate the dance I have to go through with DirecTV once a year in order to get my bill lowered down. I hate the fact that when I called Cox about my internet being atrociously slow, they were like, yeah, we know. And I was like, what the hell? And they were like, yeah, your modem sucks.
Starting point is 00:59:25 And I was like, why didn't you tell me? And they were like, because we don't need to. That's on you. So I didn't like that at all. But I'll give you one more. And then I'll be done. And I guess this one You guys
Starting point is 00:59:36 Yeah I was going to say this one Yeah if you're watching on the television You're going to have to go over to go PHNX.com to see this one We thank you guys as always for being here And we will see you on the other side to get our final picks So see you soon Also my final pick I guess is a little timely Just because I know I'm going to have to do this very soon
Starting point is 00:59:56 And it's taking down Christmas lights You can just put Xmas lights up there That's a good one But it's not putting them up it's taking them down. Yeah. There is, I love putting up
Starting point is 01:00:07 Christmas lights. I love decorating my yard. That counts for Halloween or any holiday, right? I'm, I'm a holiday person, but I hate, uh, taking them down.
Starting point is 01:00:17 It's so depressing. I put it off for so long until like my neighbor start looking at me weird. Uh, and I just don't like the idea of not only having to put stuff away, but also climb back up that damn ladder and put the stuff in the attic. That is very fair. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:32 Because there, there's like a, a novelty with putting the lights up. There's an excitement. There's an energy. It is a lot of work and it's not necessarily fun work. It's like driving home from a road trip. Yeah. You're going. 100%.
Starting point is 01:00:44 You're like, yeah. Coming home. No. It feels three times long on the way back every single time. So that's a great pick. All right, Kyle. What do you got for your last pick? My last pick is kind of gross. Let's go. I went with showers.
Starting point is 01:00:59 Yeah. If I didn't have to shower, still smelled great and just clean. Right. It would be awesome. Right. Yeah. It's like I want, I do want the same outcome.
Starting point is 01:01:11 But my God. Do you ever have those days where you're in the shower and you're just like, this is so stupid? Like, why don't, why do I have to do this every day? I find shower, maybe, maybe I'm in the minority on this. I find showers kind of oddly relaxing. Yeah. Honestly. I mean, sometimes they're not bad.
Starting point is 01:01:28 It's kind of a nice way to start out the day in some ways. And when they get, when I have to cut them, short because I'm in a rush or whatever, I'm usually not very happy about it. It just doesn't feel right. Shower is on vacation especially feel good. I don't know why. Like I feel grosser, but usually it's because I am more active when I'm on vacation. I'm usually walking more places and doing more things.
Starting point is 01:01:49 So plus the shower can be such hit or miss in the hotel room. So like you can either have a miserable experience with that shower when you're on the road or you could have one of the best showers you've never had in your own entire life. It is all about the water pressure. It is all about the water pressure. Don't be afraid. I know it's not your stuff, but don't be afraid to get up in there. Unscrew that head.
Starting point is 01:02:08 Take that water saver right out. Pop that bad boy bite on. I'm telling you. You just like full on remove the shower head. Sometimes I do whole plumbing work in the hotel room just to make sure I'm getting the water pressure I deserve. All right. Did you do that when we were in Chicago? No, I didn't need to.
Starting point is 01:02:25 I didn't need to. That one had great water pressure. I was going to say I'd be impressed because like I didn't notice that. So you must survive. You must have like hooked it back on after that's a little trick my wife taught me. Okay, I guess this is my last pick. I'm a little bit torn between two things here. I guess all this feels a little bit broad, but shopping.
Starting point is 01:02:47 Is that is that too broad? Am I allowed to? No, you can do that because I know you, I know when you say that, you hate every form of shopping. I pretty much do. You're not singling it down to like, oh, I hate shopping for presents for people or I eat grocery shopping. There are all of those things. There are specific types that I hate more like clothes shopping is something I do not enjoy. Grocery shopping though also just takes forever, at least for me.
Starting point is 01:03:14 I, of course, this will probably not come as a surprise to you. I'm one of those people who's like looking at the unit price like per ounce, like trying to find the best deal on every single item. But you're not doing it in like a way that makes it you feel satisfied. It's an agonizing process for you that you're going through it To make sure you're getting the best value. Yeah, I guess it's satisfying in some ways, but not not really I also thought about going with returns here because I might hate returning things more than I hate buying them in the first place No, you're right about it's just the whole the whole thing with shopping not not my and it's it's because the return thing is like shopping twice essentially for the same thing It's like, it's like you're paying for your mistake. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:01 Yeah. Yeah. Well, don't never. You blew it. Yeah. You have to walk back in there with your tail between your legs. And admit the mistake you made and beg them for your money back. Exactly.
Starting point is 01:04:14 Jacob Franklin, aka Fage is 100% right. Jesse is still about a month away. That's true. That's true. 100%. Yes. I would say, I would say 28 days away is where Jesse's at. We're out of November 26 right now.
Starting point is 01:04:28 But of course, that was awesome. And we hope you guys share it with us in the comments, your least of favorite adult tasks. Should we summarize real quick? Yeah, let's throw it up there. I got bills driving meetings of any kind, contacting tech support, and taking down your Christmas lights. Kyle has all forms of cleanliness at all. He has cleaning, laundry, and showers up there. He also has cooking and punctuality.
Starting point is 01:04:55 Jesse went very anti-government with no taxes, no voting, no DMV. He also doesn't want to shop for you on your birthday or for himself to eat, and he hates yard work. I truly was not trying to make a political statement of any kind with how I cast my house. But I think we can all agree that all of those things are pretty unpleasant, right? So you don't have to be trying to overthrow the government to like not enjoy doing taxes. There's a middle ground there. I will also say that I very much understand because of the bureaucracy and red tape I had to go through. I'm still trying to figure out when my passport is going to arrive.
Starting point is 01:05:33 And there's no way it's going to happen before the trip to Japan that I have coming up. So again, that's a fun game we're playing.
