Starting point is 00:00:08 and welcome to another edition of the PHNX feedback podcast right here on PHNX. We are brought to you, of course, by the fine folks at the Draft King's Sportsbook, America's top-rated sportsbook. And I am joined, of course, I am the mayor of PHNX. I'm joined by the sheriff of PHNX, the one and only Michaela Perkins. I'm the sheriff now? When did I get the title change? I thought I was the definitely.
Starting point is 00:00:30 We've been messing with titles. I think that was given to you the last show when you were threatening to de Comberto Castiano's out, yourself of the lineup if Tori LaBullo didn't do so himself. But of course, always lovely to have Michaela here. And always lovely to be chatting about the Arizona Diamondbacks after a victory like this. What a series this was with the Cincinnati Reds. Let's be honest, this is one of those series that by no stretch of the imagination did
Starting point is 00:00:58 I think that they were going to split it by the end. Things looked very bleak by the time we were in game two, but the Diamondbacks turned it around. They put a pretty good thumping on the Reds in games three and really had a surprising kind of comeback victory today in the ninth inning. But before we get on to that, of course, we have to talk about our new sponsorship with our friends at Four Peaks. Shout out the Coat Peaks Brewing Company, now the official beer of PHNX. And let me tell you, Mac, when it comes to me having to adjust my lifestyle in order to fit new beer in my life. life. I don't have to do that here because I drink four peaks all the time anyway, but of course,
Starting point is 00:01:42 we're doing that today, not only in celebration of this new partnership, but we're doing it in celebration of a D-Bax-W. So I have five different beers here. I may or may not be drinking all of them before the end of the show, depending on how long the show lasts. So let's go, let's party, let's celebrate. Cheers. Do we cheers? Do we cheers? Do we cheers? I feel like we need a beer chand to get a Beer, beer, beer, beer. Spilled a little bit. Fantastic. Shout out the Four Peaks.
Starting point is 00:02:16 We got to go to the Four Peaks Brewing Company, by the way, and learn about all sorts of wonderful ways they make beer. Ghosts that inhabit the building, all sorts of wonderful stuff. If you get a chance, definitely go out to Four Peaks Brewing. They do have a tour option that I think everybody can take. So make sure you check that out as well. But most importantly, we're excited to say hello to our friends. four peaks and to be enjoying some kilt lifter, peach golden ale.
Starting point is 00:02:44 I got, of course, one of my favorites, Hopnot IPA, hazy IPA. The peach golden ale slaps. I'm obsessed with this beer. This beer and the hazy IPA are probably my top two favorite. It's really hard to pick my favorite, but these two are probably my favorite. And they're available wherever you get your groceries. So go out, go get your beer, go pick up four peaks. It's almost Friday.
Starting point is 00:03:04 So you've got to get the beer rolling to get like your weekend vibes going. So go pick up some four peaks. Like Derek said, go down to the brewery and Tempe. It is so good. The food there, oh, don't even get me started on the food. Oh, the food's incredible. I'm so excited about this partnership. I'm going to gain like 800 pounds, but it's fine because it's all in the four peaks,
Starting point is 00:03:22 and I accept that. It's worth it. It's a worthy sacrifice for the fact that we now get to partner with four peaks. By the way, 21 and over only on the four peaks. Of course, you guys know that. Please enjoy responsibly. I'm not going anywhere this afternoon. I'm here at my home.
Starting point is 00:03:38 I'm broadcasting remotely, and I don't know, I'll probably pass out on the couch watching Obi-1 Canobi or something after this, but I'm excited to talk about Arizona Diamondbacks baseball, because again, this road trip for a stretch there, one run over 36 innings, it looked like this was Mack, the old debacks that we saw back at the beginning of the season, a bit confusing and kind of frustrating the way that everybody in the lineup lost, kind of lost their way offensively all at the same time. Yeah. I know that they won today, and obviously, I'm very glad that they won today. Like you said, it was kind of unexpected. I kind of counted them out way earlier in the day. But overall, I am so not happy. I'm so not happy with this team.
Starting point is 00:04:28 Their performance, especially, obviously, in the first two games of the series, pitiful. Horrible, horrendous. Throw it away. I never want to watch it again. It was so embarrassing. I'm not I'm a fan of that. Like you said, it really reminded me of the Diamondbacks of old, and I hated that. Like, any time a position player has to come into pitch, like, it's really bad. It's really not good. And Jake Hager made his second appearance of the season as a pitcher who normally plays in the infield.
Starting point is 00:04:54 So, yeah, I was just really not happy with his Diamondbacks team, although I do feel like I have to take some accountability because I said that the Diamondbacks were going to sweep the pirates and the Reds, and I cursed it. I jinxed it. It's my fault that the Diamondbacks did not. This one's on you. It's fine, though. I apologize to everybody in advance for saying the Diamondbacks were going to. Now, they should have, honestly, I mean, the Pirates, they got a little bit of a hot treat coming into their series against the Diamondbacks.
Starting point is 00:05:22 So that one was, uh, okay, whatever. But the Reds are the worst team in baseball. Like, there's just no reason. No reason. But they were, they were five and two in their last seven coming against the D-backs. And, like, sometimes that's all it takes, right? Sometimes it just takes being on the, just catching a team at the right time when they're kind of hot and the diamondbacks weren't. At least the diamond backs adjusted though, right?
Starting point is 00:05:45 Like that's one thing that during this series, I mean, not only was it good to see them smack the Reds back in the mouth the way they did literally the same way, right? Seven to nothing victory in the first game. But, you know, this game was very encouraging because again, like you said, counted them out of. early. It didn't look like they had a lot of, you know, it didn't look like they had a lot going on this game. It didn't look offensively like they were very sharp. Zach Davies wasn't very sharp early on. But Zach Davies has been really all over the place this season. All over the place. The one time he's, he's really bad in the first inning. This came up on Twitter. Zach Davis is in the first inning this year, 12 innings pitched, 14 hits, 12 earned runs,
Starting point is 00:06:34 all 12 runs, all earned, and three home runs. Outside of the first inning, 46 inning pitch, 40 hits, 21 runs, 17 earn runs, five home runs. So it's like that first inning is so, so significantly bad for him that if he can get out of it, it feels like the Diamondbacks have a pretty good chance. Now, he didn't have a great first inning in this one, but he did lock it down after the first inning and was able to at least keep the Diamondbacks in the game, which is something that we've seen out of Merrill Kelly. We've seen out of Zach Gallen, we've seen out of Madison Bumpgarner. These pitchers,
Starting point is 00:07:08 when they struggle early on, they do have this great ability to bounce back, and it's kind of a shared trait amongst the entire rotation, where, you know, yeah, things don't go well, but they're able to kind of lock it in, except for obviously that Tyler Gilbert start in this series, but
Starting point is 00:07:24 regardless, the Diamondbacks walk away with two and two in the series. I'm so glad you brought up the starting rotation, Derek. Uh-oh. I have some thoughts. Like, I know that Madison was able to kind of get it back under control, but I'm still very disappointed with his start. He only pitched five innings and gave up eight hits and four earned runs with two walks and four strikeouts.
Starting point is 00:07:46 Obviously, not the worst, but also not the best. But I feel like this is kind of what I've come to expect out of Madison, Mungarner now is just a meh start. Like, it's serviceable. It can kind of, depending on who the Davaobacks are playing, it will either be competitive enough for them to win or it'll be like, not competitive enough and they'll barely lose. And I'm just like, ugh, like Madison, Bum Gardner is just giving me such meh vibes that I'm kind of getting tired of it. Outside of Zach Gallen and Merrill Kelly, if your name isn't Zach Gallen or Merrill Kelly, you're getting on the bullpen cart and I'm driving you back to the bullpen. Like I am starting to get really
Starting point is 00:08:24 tired of this rotation. And they're kind of freaking me out. Like, I know that I said I was done with Umberto Castiano's, but watching Tyler Gilbert pitch almost made me miss Umberto. And that's saying something. And again, there's there's things that there's there's things that the diamondbacks like, you know, the coaching staff and stuff feel the same way, right? And it's like, I don't think, I don't think that they had, you know, I don't think they give up on guys all together, but there's stuff that they see that sometimes it takes a little bit longer for them to feel like, you know, a guy isn't going to get out of it. Sometimes it's short, like where they were really behind Caleb Smith early on in the season, gave him one start, he
Starting point is 00:09:03 shit the bed and then that was like it for him as far as a starter right so uh it it it almost feels like sometimes the reason why they're going with castiano's or or even gilbert is a lack of options right it's just and and it doesn't feel like that to us because we think of a bunch of names and stuff but they're still got it's still of their process i feel like and if they you know feel like guys aren't going to be able no matter how good they look in reno or bad in reno or whatever they still feel like they're, you know, looking at certain key metrics that tells them, okay, this guy's our best option right now for starting pitching.
Starting point is 00:09:42 Castiano's is still a converted reliever. So that's, it's weird to me because last season, it made all the sense in the world, right? And it's not to take anything away from him for a guy that never started a game before last season and became a starter for this team. He's done decently well to adequate, right? But at the same time, it feels like by now,
Starting point is 00:10:03 they should have found another option instead of continuing down this path with him, instead of putting him back in the pen, where he could be probably even more useful to them as a long reliever or somebody that they could rely on out of the pen. Yep, I totally agree. That was going to be my next point is like, I started the season on such a high with the starting rotation because I thought Madison, Buck Gardner, Zach Galland, and Merrill Kelly are three reliable, great starting pitchers, and we can kind of squeak by with those two variables. But now I feel like the only two pitchers we can rely, really, really rely on our Zach
Starting point is 00:10:32 Gallin and Merrill Kelly, Madison Von Gardner is going to go out there and give you meh. Like, you might win, you might lose. Like, it's so variable with him. And then when it comes to Zach Davies and then that fifth rotation spot, I don't have no faith at all whatsoever in any of those pitchers. I'm tired of Zach Davies. I don't think he has what it takes to be a starting pitcher for this team. And obviously, we've gone through Caleb Smith, Tyler Gilbert, Umberto Castellanos for
Starting point is 00:10:58 that fifth spot. And I am just upset that they haven't come up with another plan. I know that they obviously have some big names coming up through the system with Blake Walston and Ryan Nelson. And so that might have something to do with them just like not wanted to go out there and get, you know, bring in another picture from the free agent market or whatever else. So I kind of understand that because they do have those two big names coming up eventually and they will hit sooner, hopefully rather than later.
Starting point is 00:11:24 But I just think they need to figure this out. They need to figure out this rotation because it started off so good and now it's just like tanking. And like I said, unless you're those two pitchers that I have complete faith in, the remaining three spots in their rotation, I'm really stressed about. And it kind of sucks to be in that position when you were on such a high, like at the beginning of the year. Well, anybody watched this show knows that I did beat up my chair. It had to be sacrificed for the Diamondbacks offense.
Starting point is 00:11:52 And they are now undefeated since then. But, Michaela, my frustrations were with the offense. And this is an offense, to be honest, that has been one. one of the best offenses in baseball at times. I know that's a big qualifier, right? But they're, they now have 45 home runs this season on the road. And that is the most in the national league second to only the Astros in all
Starting point is 00:12:14 of baseball. So it's not that the Diamondbacks lack production. Really what we're seeing is it's kind of like Christian Walker. Christian Walker has, I believe, the same number of home runs as he does singles, right? So it's like, it's not that they're not, they're not, they're not, uh, they're not, they're not, they're not, they're not, they're not, they don't have the power. It's not that their offense isn't able to generate runs,
Starting point is 00:12:33 but it does feel a little bit like this season, like they're living and dying by that home run ball. When they're not getting the home run ball, they're not able to generate runs. And they're not able to really, you know, produce runs in kind of a small ball way, you know, singling a pitcher to death or, or, you know, getting a lot of those little hits that contribute to that kind of thing, right? So, I mean, it's, it's, the frustration with this team has really been the fact that we've seen them be very good at times. We've seen them be very bad at times. And then we've seen them like two games in the Cincinnati series where they were just horrible in every possible way.
Starting point is 00:13:10 Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I like, I know that I shouldn't get as frustrated as I am with this team because obviously, like, the expectation shouldn't be very high when it comes to this roster. They changed, you know? But at the same time, like, come on. Like this, both the pirates and the res were very sweepable series. And like, even today, the game should have never been shut out through what, eight innings, seven innings.
Starting point is 00:13:36 Like, they could have put this game away early. Like, they should have been much more competitive, much more early on in this game. And, like, it's just like, I'm trying to, like, not get too upset because, again, this is the wait and C season and we're just needing to be patient. And I'm trying to be patient. But, like, I just, I want them to do so much better. And I think the frustration comes from the fact that I know that they, can be better. Like, we have seen them be a very, very competitive team. They swept the MRF for
Starting point is 00:14:03 Dodgers. I almost curse. They forgetsword the jerks the Dodgers earlier this year. Like, they can be competitive. They can be good. But, like, they just go out there and they put out stinkers, like, Monday and Tuesday's game. And it's like, what, like, what is going on? And I think they beat themselves half the time. And then you factor in the fact that they can't put the ball in play, like outside of home runs. And, like, they're not playing, you know, like you said with the short ball. Like, it just, I guess. I guess. so frustrated because I know they can do better. In our comments, Eli asked,
Starting point is 00:14:33 is that a real ale? I hope you're referring to the Rattle on red ale. And yes, it absolutely is. It's an absolute beer that you can get from our friends at Four Peaks. And of course, not just that, not just the wonderful beers, but
Starting point is 00:14:49 of course, make sure to check out what we're talking about in regards to offense. I have a piece coming up on go phtnx.com about offense being down across the board, it having a little bit to do with the humidor's and how the diamondbacks honestly have had some experience with the humidor more than maybe some of the other teams in baseball. I don't know if that's at all giving them an advantage this season. When talking to Joe Mantiply, he didn't really notice much, but like he said, he's also,
Starting point is 00:15:18 been with this team who has had a humidor longer than most of the teams in baseball. So make sure to check that piece out. Jesse has a new piece coming as well. We're never going away. This is us. We're here all the time.
Starting point is 00:16:50 But in this series, I felt like, again, the Arizona Diamondbacks offense disappeared in a way. That was a little bit scary. Starting pitchers struggled. But, I mean, if you look back, like tomorrow's starter is Zach Gallen. Zach Gallen took a loss in the last start against the pirates. One of Michaela's complaints here after allowing just two runs and six innings of work. It was a quality start, and he still takes the loss. It's games like that that really make me think back to, you know, the good old days of Randy Johnson being one of the best pitchers in the league for this team and receiving no run support, right?
Starting point is 00:17:33 You know, it's really kind of baffling because of the way that this team can just disappear altogether. And I know Jesse and I spoke about it yesterday, but we really look to Catelle Marte to be the guy for this team. And in this series, even though his 16-game hitting streak ended in the first game, he continued to be that guy for this team. But it's like we just have a combination of different guys stepping up at different times. Paven Smith, who's really struggled with strikeouts this season, had a big home run in today's win, as well as everything that went down there in the ninth inning. Alec Thomas just continues to be a gamer for this team.
Starting point is 00:18:15 So it's like, I think that's the thing that baffles me is that. that they have some really talented players that seem like they can get the offense generated in a number of ways. And they still seem to kind of fall flat all together as a team in a lot of games this year. Yeah, definitely. Zach Allen is like the Jacob de Grom of either. It's just no run support ever. It's crazy.
Starting point is 00:18:43 Four wins, Michaela, is his career high in a season. Like, it's crazy. Like, there's so many people that think so highly of Zach Gallen that the thought of his career high and wins being four does that doesn't even, that like blows my mind. Like that's wild to me. That Gallen just goes out and then around and it's like, once again, I am asking you for fun support. Do your job. Do your job. But yeah, no, I mean, so far though, of course, Catelle Marte, like I said, he was great in this series.
Starting point is 00:19:13 I know he lost his 16 game hit streak in the first game of the series. He ended up batting 400, three runs, two RBIs, a home run, a pair of doubles. And he is our, of course, our draft king of the series. And that's a fantastic, that's a fantastic. We should all do that pose right there. But Cattel Marte, I mean, again, he just continues to kill it for this team. He's batting over 350 now from May 16th to June 4th. And I mean, he's just been awesome for this team.
Starting point is 00:19:48 I mean, his batting average, I think is, it's up a little bit from 350. I think he's hitting around 360 now since April 30th. And he is second in the National League, of course, to only Paul Goldschmidt. So I know we want, that's not a name we ever want to hear or be comparing our guys to. But hey, good for Paul Goldschmidt. We still love me, Paul. A secondary draftings king in the series. be my guest um al thomas oh my let's go let's go alice thomas absolutely vendetta against joey vato he literally
Starting point is 00:20:25 had joey vato's number he was like i'm gonna rob you every single time to come up to this plate he was so phenomenal defensively and then he's big for the divo backs today um to like he contributed to the diving box yeah he was a big part of that ninth inning for sure absolutely that ninth inning so um that robbery, by the way. It was effortless, right? Like, his ability to jump up in time that Joey Votto home run that was so obviously a home run was wild to me. Like, I guess it, like, it's not that tall of a wall. It didn't even look like that athletic of a play. It just looked like a very simple. It was so athletic. Neither you were on. I'm saying he made it look non-athletic. He was like, he just jumped up like, you know, I don't know, like when you're playing your, you know,
Starting point is 00:21:14 brother from in third grade in basketball, you know, like, and you block him. He made it look like that. Like he just, he did a little leap and just kind of casually grabbed it out of the air. It was incredible. Yeah, it was funny too because he was talking to Jody, I think on the postgame presser. And he was telling her about how he was literally just practicing, like defensive plays like that, like either that day or the day before. So obviously practice makes perfect.
Starting point is 00:21:36 But it was so cool to see that play and then the one he had a couple innings later because John Fotto was like, bro, what did I ever do? The second one especially. Like when Alex Thomas caught it, Meryl Kelly was like, oh shit, really caught that. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:21:52 his expression said it all. Absolutely. And like, yeah, after that second robbery of the, of the hit, it probably would have been at least a single, if not a double.
Starting point is 00:22:00 Joey Votto had boo-boo-boo face there a little bit. Like, he was going to be having nightmares about Alec Thomas robbing him of major league hits later that night. And I am here for it. It was really cool to watch. And since my favorite player is currently in, AAA. Alec Thomas has now taken that title. So,
Starting point is 00:22:16 congrats to Alex Thomas. I am obsessed with you. Thank you for giving me a reason to smile during the series. And you are now my favorite player on the back. It feels so good to have Alec Thomas be so good. You know what I mean? I literally have obsessed with him. I think he's mature. Like, when you know it's a sponge rod being more squid with like on the pole, like, you know, yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:41 100%. Alex Thomas. Like I think he's like, I think he's, like, is going to be such a huge component of this team, like a cornerstone of the Diamondbacks moving forward. So, yeah, I can't say enough good things about him. The kids got so much talent. Literally coming out of his ears and he's so young and the future is so bright for him. So big Alec Thomas Stan over here. That's it. That's it. And he probably wouldn't be very, I don't know. He'd probably be a little happy about this. But if we take a look over at the All-City Division, of course, we know,
Starting point is 00:23:12 the NL West is great and all, but the All-City Division is the only division that matters. He'd probably be a little happy to see his Chicago White Sox up there on top, but since he's part of this D-BACs team now, he's going to fight hard to get there. And again, these teams are very close. This division is very close. It's a lot of fun to watch. And hopefully, hopefully one of the All-City divisions can kind of break out from being these sub-500 teams that are hovering around 480 and maybe do something big in their own division.
Starting point is 00:23:41 but for the time being, we are nipping at the Chicago White Sox heels, who right now, let's be honest, they're playing the Los Angeles Dodgers. So if there was a series that we are all in on for the White Sox winning, it's against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Hell yeah. Sorry. Hey, that's all right. You know what? We're enjoying our Four Peaks brews. Of course, we're also enjoying our OGs, our other wonderful sponsor, OGs brands.
Starting point is 00:24:11 Uh, Michaela and I both love OGs and you should too. If you haven't tried OGs brands edibles, make sure to go to your local dispensary and give them a try. Not only do they have an amazingly delicious variety of flavors, uh, they have an amazingly, uh, delicious variety of doses for you as well. That way, you know, again, if you're not feeling like diving right into their 10 milligram regular dose, you can dive into a three milligram microdose and, uh, try it out. That way it's not too intense for you, might, might enjoy it a little bit more. I know I've talked to people, Michaela, that sometimes the biggest problem is that they, they dove in a little too deep, especially with the options that you can get when it comes to edibles and other, you know,
Starting point is 00:24:55 medical marijuana products, right? But you want to make sure that you're enjoying the experience and it's not too intense. So, of course, O.D. Brands has you covered. We can do a little demonstration. Okay, ready to go. 10 milligram orange creamicle, aka my favorite, the best flavor that ever exists. And these are a little microdose baby. Oh, they're so cute.
Starting point is 00:25:14 Oh, they're horrible. Yeah, they're almost like dot size. Yeah, perfect. They're both equally delicious, so, so good, but obviously they serve different purposes, the 10 milligram,
Starting point is 00:25:23 you really want to feel good and the 3 milligram will get you feeling just right. I'm obsessed with these things, guys. Like, I cannot say enough good things about OGs. And also, I don't know what I did in a before life to deserve
Starting point is 00:25:33 working for a company that gives me free beer and free THC gummies. Like I, yeah. I, okay, my friends don't believe this company exists. They think I secretly won the lottery and then I'm just making all of this stuff up, uh, as, as some sort of front so that I don't have to share my lottery winnings with them as
Starting point is 00:25:52 friends, but come on. I mean, like they can just click on the link and follow the show. Like this would be in a very elaborate, uh, prank I would be pulling on everybody if it was all about me winning the lottery and setting up this fake company all as a ruse so I could enjoy my favorite things in life, like four peaks beers and OG's gummies. But this is the life that we live, ladies and gentlemen.
Starting point is 00:26:14 I don't know what I did in a past life to deserve it. Also, I don't know if anybody was like me, but I was really waiting for Michaela to just two-fist that three milligram microdose and 10-migram microdose at the same or regular dose at the same option. But whatever, we'll deal with that later. But of course, that was later. That's later, of course. Of course, you can try the amazingly delicious variety of flavors that OG's brands has to offer.
Starting point is 00:26:40 And if you're interested in doing so, you can go to OGs.com to find a dispensary near you that has OGs. That's OGEZBrands.com to find OGs near you. Oh, Mac, looking ahead. I mean, again, like you said, we kind of looked ahead at the schedule. You know, we saw some games. We saw this road trip and we were like, hey, this should be the Diamondbacks chance to feast. obviously the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Cincinnati Reds kind of said otherwise, but no, no, this is wrong. This is wrong.
Starting point is 00:27:13 Wednesday, we won seven to zero, but aside from that, everything else is right. But we have the Philadelphia Phillies coming up this weekend. And then they come back to Arizona here at Chase Field for three games with the Cincinnati Reds. And I'll tell you, Mac, I don't know why. Maybe it's the OGs talking. Maybe it's the three, four peaks talking. But I'm feeling pretty confident about that three game series. with the Reds back here, and I absolutely shouldn't be.
Starting point is 00:27:38 But the Phillies also have not been having a great season. So I don't know what. I mean, again, there's there stretches like this for the Arizona Diamondbacks that seem to be wait and see, just like you said. Like, well, we'll wait. Let's see what happens, right? Sometimes they impress us and then our expectations shift and change. Sometimes they disappoint us like they did when we were, you know,
Starting point is 00:28:02 let's see how they fare in this four game series against the. the Dodgers and they get swept, right? So that gets you feeling a little bit more like the Diamondbacks are the team that everybody thought they were. But this road trip has been all over the place. It's gone from being disappointing to now not being so bad, I guess. I mean, they're three and four on their 10 game road trip here against the pirates and the Reds, and they have three more against the Phillies. And even with how bad things have gone, they could still salvage this road trip if they take two out of three from the Phillies and end up, with a plus 500 record on this 10 game road trip.
Starting point is 00:28:38 Yeah, I definitely would love to see them take two or three from the Phillies. I think that would make me feel a lot better about this whole situation, especially because I am terrified of the twins. I'm terrified of the Padres and a little worried about that. So hopefully they learned their lesson against the Reds and it will be a little bit more competitive. But I definitely think if they can end this road trip on a high note against the Phillies, and at least win the series.
Starting point is 00:29:06 Yeah, they need to win the series, obviously. Hopefully they'll win the series because that will make me feel a lot better about what they have coming up at home when they get back to Arizona. The one thing about this team has been, we've said they need to win the series against teams that they should be beating, right? And I guess when they don't, when they lose two out of three to the pirates, and honestly, at times in the series against the Reds, it looks like they were close to getting swing.
Starting point is 00:29:34 I mean, it felt like this team wasn't able to really hang with the Reds at times. I think that's the thing that makes us realize the Diamondbacks, no matter how good they are in stretches, still aren't that good of a team, right? Because they really should be taking care of business against the teams that are down at the lower end of the spectrum of for baseball. And when they do play those teams, they kind of play down to them, right? We don't see that same level. also I mean it's a road trip it's a long road trip it's a 10 game road trip and I'm you know at times you can't really be super surprised by teams having troubles or struggles with you know
Starting point is 00:30:15 lower level teams lower tier teams teams that are the like not as good teams in baseball but again it just is a reminder that diamondbacks still aren't quite there yet right they're still they're still hanging around to probably around that middle middle of the pack for baseball not They were last year when they were bottom three teams in baseball. But it does feel more like, you know, this is a reminder. They're still not where, you know, where where the upper echelon of teams are. Yeah, definitely. Like, I know, I saw two, I have two terms for the season.
Starting point is 00:30:51 We hear wait and see a lot, but also roller coaster season. Like there's going to be a lot of highs and a lot of lows. And a lot of the highs are going to come within the game. That's an overall low. So we're just going to be like up and down, like all season. long. Yeah. And strap in everybody because it's going to be a ride.
Starting point is 00:31:06 It's going to be interesting. And like you said, like they, even though I'm terrified of the twins and the twins are like one of the best teams in baseball right now, the twins could walk into Chase Field and diving backs could just like curb stop them. Like honestly at this point, that wouldn't even surprise me because I just can't figure out this team. And so, yeah,
Starting point is 00:31:25 it's just going to be a roller coaster season. Like we're going to get some good highs. We're going to get some bad lows. And everybody just seems to buckle in, strap down and hold on for dear life. because holy cow, who knows we're going to get out of this team in the coming months. But at least, at the very least, and at least I think we can hang our hat on is they are fun to watch. I don't hate my life when I watch the Diamondbacks play baseball. And I will take that as a win.
Starting point is 00:31:49 And here's what I'm going to take. On the Draft King's Sportsbook for my pick of the week, I'm going to take the Arizona Diamondbacks against the Philadelphia Phillies. The Phillies are a game and a half favorites in this game. I'm taking the Diamondbacks, a plus one and a half. I would put all my money on your cat, by the way. Oh, my God. Why is this the first time I'm seeing your cat? Your cat is absolutely gorgeous.
Starting point is 00:32:12 This is the first time you seen Cleo? Ever, she's gorgeous. What a beautiful cat. Oh, my God, those eyes are incredible. This cat is almost as beautiful as a comeback victory in the ninth inning by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Close, very close. But again, I'm taking the Diamondbacks.
Starting point is 00:32:29 Here's another thing. I'm taking the, if you want another draft king's pick of the week, I'm taking the Golden State Warriors over the Boston Celtics. And because the Boston Celtics are involved in the game, I'm also taking the under on the over under for points because they're just a terribly defensive team. And at 214.5 points, I wouldn't be surprised to take the under. Yes, I know.
Starting point is 00:32:51 I am betting on a lack of fun, but it's what I do sometimes. Okay. When I try to go crazy, I don't win. I need to kind of be a bit boring. And it's the way I bet on the Draft King Sportsbook. You can do what you want on the Draft King Sportsbook. And that's the beautiful part about it. Bet however you want.

I'm happy to be over here covering the normal world of baseball for right now. But, of course, it doesn't matter what you want to bet on. Starting point is 00:34:26 And Mac, that's all I got this week, you know? We got the, we got Phillies. We'll see how the Diamondbacks do. Hopefully, you know, between now and then, we don't drink too much four peaks, but I plan on drinking a substantial amount of it. And, of course, I have a whole thing to kill.
Starting point is 00:34:46 Look at that. I'm so excited. I get through all five. I'm only through three, but, you know, it is what it is. Are you drinking the Hasey IPA right now? Oh, I freaking them upset. This one's so good.
Starting point is 00:34:58 If you want to know. I love the H.I.A. Starting point is 00:35:16 Who die four? I'm not even kidding you. I almost cried and we partnered with them because I've been a huge fan in theirs for years. My dad has an entire gift shop at home because that's what I gave him for Christmas. There's four peaks brewing company hat right now. And you're right. Like, I think that's the wonderful part about this partnership is so many of us here at PHNX have really, really sincerely been a fan of Four Peaks, their beers for years now.
Starting point is 00:35:43 And to be partnering together with them and to be growing not only the Four Peaks brand, but our brand together, it's amazing. It's a dream come true.
