Starting point is 00:00:04 Beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, let's go! I don't know what to do with my hair! I don't know what to do either. Thank you guys so much for joining us right here on the PHSD bags podcast, post-game show. What a huge win the Diamondbacks just had over the Padres, a walk-off, Seth Beer, closing time. A national beer day. Are you kidding you?
Starting point is 00:00:37 I don't even understand what's going on anymore. I couldn't have written a better ending if I tried. We're calling him Seth Servesa from now on because he is a superhero. That's what he deserves that. Hi. She once again. Go Diamondbacks. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:00:54 All right. Starting point is 00:01:17 win or lose guaranteed. Jesse! Jesse! What a win! That was quite the game. It was a roller coaster of emotions. I fell asleep. There's seven innings.
Starting point is 00:01:31 I was dead asleep. I gave up all home. She was in a line. I had to wake her up several times. I was actually worried about you, but, you know. Apparently there is a time. when the Diamondbacks were being no hit in that game, and we were concerned that they were.
Starting point is 00:01:44 It was literally a no hitter through seven innings. I have a text message from Jesse that proves that exact thing. We were deciding whether or not we needed to write something about this game, and we decided only if it was a no hitter against the Diamondbacks. Beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, beer. We're not stopping doing that all night. It's beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, beer. This is amazing.
Starting point is 00:02:08 It is so lit. This is unbelievable. It's incredible. I'll tell you, I wasn't expecting anything like this. Like you said, the game itself kind of went to a bit of a little. And it seemed like the Diamondbacks at one point weren't even going to get a hit. I mean, obviously Madison Bumgarner kind of imploded early on. Are you serious? Yeah, what were your thoughts that are Jesse on Bumgarner's performance?
Starting point is 00:02:32 Probably worse than we could have imagined, yeah? It was, you know, I guess he limited damage in a sense. He only gave up one hit. But somehow the man threw 42 pitches in an inning where he didn't give up a base hit, which is arguably impressive. Like how do you throw 42 pitches in an inning without giving up a base hit? He had 26 pitches, I think, after two? After two. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:55 Yep. He came out so great in the first inning and then just like a colossal implosion. It was so wild to watch. He just had no, he couldn't find the strike zone. No. He had no control after a certain point. He was not locating any of his pitches. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:08 And you have to give it up for the Padres. They were very patient. They were. They had a game plan against them, and it worked early on. Yep, it's true. And I was, I kind of feel foolish now telling myself that we're going to get six good innings from half. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:21 You're just going to have to cut that in half. I mean, yikes. I just think this is exciting because we've, like, this only grows the legend now of Seth Beer coming up so big in the bottom of the night. I mean, we were, we were sitting around here preparing for the postgame show. And of course, we were already leaning towards the L column, right? I had already my score graphic. I had to hope they lost.
Starting point is 00:03:42 Like I was ready to post it. And then all of a sudden, Seth Beer, my guy. Once we got two on, me and our producer, Jacob started saying, all it takes is one swing of the bat. Jacob called it. Jacob was like, this is where the rally begins. And I was like, yeah, Jacob, okay. Like, it's a divvvacks. They're not going to rally.
Starting point is 00:03:59 I'm so glad I was proven wrong. I don't want to be a downer here. But is there any concern with the way that the rest of the game went? Oh, yeah. I mean, there's so many things. Jesse says no. None of it happened. Yeah, geez. Mark in our comments asking when are we going to come out with a new shirt?
Starting point is 00:04:21 We just did, Mark. It's this guy right here. This beautiful creation. I think I'm in the way. It's okay. If Shane cuts to the other camera. Come on, producer Shane, you're leaving me hanging. There it is.
Starting point is 00:04:35 Here it is. This is our brand new shirt. It's awesome. Jesse can just be moved around. Yeah. Get Jesse. Let's go. Not you.
Starting point is 00:04:45 Not you either. But you and you. Yeah, let's go. Let's go. A Potre fans trying to get in on our celebration. This is for us. This is for us. This is for us.
Starting point is 00:04:58 Let's go. They're all excited about the new shirt, actually. That's what they're cheering for. This is our beautiful new shirt. It'll be a beautiful new shirt. It'll be. available in the pH and X locker online next week. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:05:12 Diamondbacks. I honestly think that this is like such a big thing for them, right? Yeah. This game could have gone south. It could have gone in a direction where it really made them start questioning themselves. I can only imagine how high their confidence is after this. Yeah, absolutely. I mean, they have faced the Padres three times in a, like three times now on opening day in a row.
Starting point is 00:05:34 And they lost the previous two. So when you're heading into this matchup, it's opening a day, it's going to set the tone for the rest of this season. You want to come out swinging and you want to prove to everybody that you can win an opening day against the Padres. And they did. So, you know, the Padres, they couldn't get the three game, three opening day game sweep and Diamondbacks. I think this is a really great way to start the season, though. I can imagine they're all in the locker room celebrating such a good morale booster. Look at our fans.
Starting point is 00:06:03 Look at the DeBags fan. We're out of great one. Hopefully they can take that energy into the rest of the series. And yeah, this is great. What a way to start the season. 2022, I love you already. I will say this. There was a moment where our king of the game for this game was going to be Oliver Perez.
Starting point is 00:06:22 And I just want to say for a minute. And rightfully so. Rightfully so. He was their best pitcher tonight. He was. What were your thoughts on the pitching efforts tonight, Jesse? and the ones that did have success. Oliver Perez is 40 years old
Starting point is 00:06:39 and pitching in his 20th major league season. The man has literally been a major league pitcher for half of his life at this point. He's literally old to be my dad. Okay. Yeah, right. I did. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:49 That's very hurt. I saw we tweeted that earlier. That was interesting. But yeah, Oliver Perez is great. And really the bullpen as a whole, I thought was really, really good tonight. Yeah. The Padres pulled to reverse Diamondbacks
Starting point is 00:07:02 and their bullpen was the one that actually sucked, which was so great to watch, and it actually wasn't our bullpen this time. I joked about this, but it's kind of part of the Diamondbacks master plan. As good as it was to get Mark Malanson for the D-backs, it's even better to take them away from the Padres. That's true.
Starting point is 00:07:20 That's true. Also, somebody, Connor Brum in the comments saying chug the beer for Seth for your guys. Let's go. No, that's what we've been waiting for. We got to wait to wait. Oh, do we have to wait? We walk it off, right? Yeah, we're going to walk it off.
Starting point is 00:07:31 Sorry, we're walking our beers. I just going to stay there. You got to stay tuned until the end of the show, and we will chug these beers. And I promise you I can chug a beer way better than Johnny Venerable. Oh. That's not saying that much. That's not a high bar to pass. But yeah, it was so great to see the Diamondbacks bullpen actually stringing together
Starting point is 00:07:50 comprehensive innings and not just totally wet the bed at the end of the game. I think that was really refreshing. I like how you said wet the bed. Yeah, that was good. We poop the bed. Yeah, you're right, though. I mean, overall, even though it felt like a very frustrating game for the Diamondbacks, it was only a two-nothing game.
Starting point is 00:08:10 And they did a good job of keeping it close, right? This wouldn't have been as easy to walk off if the bullpen didn't keep it as close. Correct, yeah. I mean, even though I fell asleep through the first seven things when the Diamondbacks were getting no hit, I just, I don't know what to do with my hands. I'm so happy. I don't know what to do with my hands either. That's where we're at right now.
Starting point is 00:08:31 We do have a new partner in the house. We are excited to talk about them. Of course, it's OG's brands. They've welcomed us into their family, and we welcome them into ours. So OGs is one of them, Arizona's first original scratch-made cannabis kitchens and is dedicated to creating innovative and memorable cannabis infused products that flavor life's journey. Obviously, I've been taking them. Edibles are not a one-size-fits-all product, which is why OGs is proud to offer a wide, range of products for all demographics and preferences.
Starting point is 00:09:04 Their motto is flavoring life. That's something we can all get behind. Our life is flavored tonight with this walk-off win. But it's even better. It's even better with the OGs brands. They have a bunch of wonderful flavors. Max's favorite is orange crucible. They're so good.
Starting point is 00:09:19 Yeah, that Indica will put you to sleep. Knock my ass out. That's right. I've never slept better in my life. Not why. If you're interested in trying the amazingly delicious variety of flavors that OGs brands has to offer, go to OGsBrands. That's OGEEEZBrands.com to find OGs near you.
Starting point is 00:09:35 Did I add an extra E in there? I think you might have. There's only two E's, but geez, Rick. There's only two E's and beer too. That's right. It's an honor of beer. It is. What a moment to add to his already, you know,
Starting point is 00:09:50 kind of impressive resume. His entire time in the major leagues has kind of been this crazy ride so far of success. Just wild. And I think one of my favorite things about Seth Beer specifically, is how much the fan base loves him. Even before the walkoff tonight, anytime he came up to bat, everybody in the stands was going, beer, beer, beer.
Starting point is 00:10:08 His name's beer. Of course they love him. Like, I mean, come on, what are you talking about? Like, he doesn't have to be good for people to love him with a name like beer, but he is. He's excellent. He's very, very good. So, I mean, the fan base is already rallying around him,
Starting point is 00:10:20 which, again, when it goes back to my point about this being a morale booster, I'm sure Seth Beer is on cloud nine, and I am so happy for him because the fan base loves him. He's getting the recognition he deserves. And like you said, his journey to the majors has been such a roller coaster, and it's so great to see this payoff for Seth Beer. A supermax deal for beer when? Soon.
Starting point is 00:10:40 Soon. Very, very soon. And Chris Melton asks, anyone have the distance on that home run yet? Actually, it hasn't landed yet. So we don't know the actual distance. I can hear it flying through the air right now. It really is. Jesse, what were your takes on watching that and just what this guy has meant to this team so early in his career?
Starting point is 00:11:00 I was here in Seattle, actually, when Seth Beer made his major league debut. He made his debut at T-Mobile Park against the Seattle Mariners. And, of course, I was at the game. I got video of his first major league home run. That's right. Diego Castillo is who he hit his first home run off of. There you go. Perfect end boss for a video game.
Starting point is 00:11:24 Correct, yes. Yeah, Seth Beer is just, I mean, yeah, he's basically had about 15. Major League played appearances, and he's made a lot of memories for us in a very, very short amount of time in his career so far. So, yeah, I remember even here in Seattle, there were people in the stands who, of course, had no idea who he was. He played for the Diamondbacks. He'd just been called up.
Starting point is 00:11:45 And they still absolutely loved Seth here because of his name, as you all have discussed. I remember, like, four years seeing he was in their system and being like, oh, yeah, I need that guy's dream. Oh, yeah. Homer was 386 feet. Doesn't seem long enough. Wow. Shout out to my dude rock knowledge.
Starting point is 00:12:06 Let's go! He's a big Fernando Tatis fan, but aside from that, he's a huge Diamondbacks fan. So I'm sure he's very happy with the way this went. God, that was so cool. I will say this, though. It just, it's amazing how that game changed, right? That game just turned in the ninth inning. I mean, it just seemed like the Diamondbacks had nothing that they were able to do with the play.
Starting point is 00:12:28 besides walk. Yep. That's why, okay, I'm going to go on a little bit of a, I'm going to get on my, my soapbox for a second. Go on, girl. Baseball is the greatest sport in America. Here we go. Yes.
Starting point is 00:12:40 Every pitch matters. Look at this outfit I'm wearing. It's a whole thing. It's matching. I got to get, do I get up on the thing or you can see? All right. There's a whole thing. People love this outfit.
Starting point is 00:12:50 Every pitch matters in this game. And this game can change at any moment. And I absolutely am obsessed with this game of baseball. But it goes back to what I wanted to say. say too. They announced the attendance at the game tonight. It was 35,5008 people, which is the lowest attended opening day in Diamondbacks franchise history. So if you weren't at the game, if you're listening to this show, get out to the ballpark, support your team. I have a feeling that there's going to be more, a lot, many more special moments this season that are going to be worth watching.
Starting point is 00:13:22 So get out to the ballpark, support this team because that was an awesome game. And I'm just so amped to watch them the rest of this season. Because I think they're gritty. They're going to have to find ways to win because they're not all-stars. They don't have a stacked roster up and down like the Dodgers do. So they're going to have to figure out how to win. And it's like tonight that remind you that there's this team special and they're going to figure it out. It's changing the perception.
Starting point is 00:13:47 It's changing the perception for them, right? Because last year, Tori Loeolo talked about coming into the clubhouse and the difference between winners and people that hope to win. He was basically saying the Diamondbacks last season came into the clubhouse saying, well, we hope we win. And he would compare that to the Dodgers. And he would say the Dodgers aren't going into their locker room saying, we hope we win. We're going to win. Time to church, Sarah.
Starting point is 00:14:13 You know what I mean? And it's, I'll tell you, it is a mindset. Baseball's a mental game. And when you have a lack of success, you probably already start second guessing yourself, second guessing your potential. second-guessing your ability to win a baseball game. Just a single baseball game. Putting too much of this other shit, you know, in front of it. Putting like, oh, this whole season and the projections aren't good.
Starting point is 00:14:37 And we have the Dodgers in our division, so we're not going to win this division, right? Putting all of that aside and literally just actually focusing on the fact that you think you can win this particular game. And that's why games like tonight are so important because baseball is a marathon. It's not a sprint. So when you can find pockets of joy like this, it just makes that marathon a little bit easier to endure. instead of just having an all-out dying time. Well, Jesse and I, we were both very high on the Mark Malanson signing. And as much as I joke about that, it really did put the Padres in an awkward position tonight, Jesse.
Starting point is 00:15:08 They were, honestly, it was a really weird move by Bob Melvin. The guy who pitched the ninth inning was making his major league debut. He had never pitched in a major league game before. And obviously it was, you know, you can kind of understand why they had so much faith in him. The guy came out throwing 100 miles an hour on literally every single pitch. through. But he had no idea where it was going. He was all over the place. He couldn't throw a strike two walks and a hit batter in a wild pitch. It doesn't get a whole lot worse than that in three batter's face. So yeah, I honestly don't know why Bob Melvin did that. I thought it was a weird
Starting point is 00:15:42 move on his part. But the reason he was backed into that corner was because, like you're saying, Mark Melanson is no longer a San Diego Padre. And their bullpen is probably pretty good overall, but they didn't have the weapons that they needed to in order to win this game. And obviously they made a trade today with the Minnesota Twins to acquire another reliever that's going to be a big ad for them. So my guess is we'll see Taylor Rogers pretty soon
Starting point is 00:16:10 in some of those back-end moments. But tonight, I don't know if he wasn't available or if Bob Melvin just decided not to use him, but definitely a weird situation on his part. Well, and I mean, honestly, Tori Lovolo's had a couple of those situations. where it was based on availability. It was based on the roster,
Starting point is 00:16:27 based on what he had in front of him, right? And even though stuff didn't work out, he was doing whatever he could with, you know, whatever call-ups, whatever players that the front office basically gave, you know? So, like, I get going through that,
Starting point is 00:16:41 but it just goes to show how great of a game baseball is, right? It's a complete game for all nine headings. You can dominate for seven, eight of those innings, but if you don't have the arms, just like the Diamondbacks haven't had in the past. The Diamondbacks have been the last. been the ones in this position previously, right? Where they had that two-run lead and then blew it in the night.
Starting point is 00:17:00 So it's just wonderful to be on top or on this side of this. More importantly, though, it's wonderful for opening day to end like this. Like, what a change of the mood. What a change of the vibes. The curse is broken. Oh, the 8.5 plan to get the vibes better. It went right from 0.1 to plan 8 immediately. Vives were good.
Starting point is 00:17:22 All I'm here for Seth's beer hitting a home run. And thank God he did because this is a lot of fun. Yeah, this is great. I could go run eight miles right now. Right through a brick wall. I really haven't seen the inside of a gym in like 10 years. And I want to go run like eight miles. I'm freaking a half.

Starting point is 00:19:10 Jesse worked collaborated with our friends over at DNDR and our friends over at CHGO to bring you guys some great content about how they feel this season is going to go. more specifically, Patrick and Jesse dialed down to how they think the NL West is going to go. And Jesse, I got to ask, does tonight fit into your plans in any way? Or is this already off to a better start than you expected? Well, my, yeah, our piece about the NOS, I've talked a lot about how I thought the Padres were a pretty darn good baseball team. And yeah, I don't know. Now things feel a little bit better.
Starting point is 00:19:46 Well, you did say before the game that this lineup wasn't very. intimidating and that proved to be the case in this game. The Padres lineup really isn't very good. Yeah, I think we absolutely saw that tonight. And the Diamondbacks bullpen I think did a really good job, but the Padres also had their opportunities. Especially in that inning where Madison Bumgarner was just a mess to somehow only come away with the one run in the inning that he walked in. I thought that was a big missed opportunity for them.
Starting point is 00:20:15 And then even Luke Weaver got banged up a little bit. In his inning, they only got one run out of that situation. as well. So the lineup just doesn't have a lot of, yeah, the lineup doesn't have a lot of depth. So I really think the Padres have some things they need to iron out offensively. I'm not sure this is the deepest lineup. But that's just like, the Padres are the perfect example of a team that will spend so much money.
Starting point is 00:20:36 And it just proves that you can't just like throw money at players and expect it to work into win you a world series. Like you have to be smart with how you spend your money. And it's looking to me like the Padres haven't spent their money very well because not only did they epically underperform last season. But I mean, they've, I mean, they're coming into the season with a lot of people doubting them, a lot of people doubting if they're really the team that they are supposed to be on paper. And I just, I don't think you can throw money out a problem and hope that it gets fixed that easily.
Starting point is 00:21:05 I mean, obviously, a lot of the people that were on the Padres last year were new as teammates. So maybe they needed time to get some team chemistry going. I don't know. I can't diagnose the Padres problem. But it just goes to show that you don't have to throw money away at players to be good. And you can be smart. like the raise and not spend a ton of money and still be competitive. And I think that gives hope to the Diamondbacks organization because they're not going to
Starting point is 00:21:25 be able to throw money at players like the Padres are. They're going to have to figure out how to be competitive without that cash flow. And if they can win against the Padres like they did tonight against other teams in this in this league, they're going to be just fine. You brought up the attendance. And it's funny you say that because I guess maybe because of what baseball has gone through, I kind of expected attendance not to be great tonight, right? Like I know it's opening day.
Starting point is 00:21:48 Yeah. It's the one day people get excited for. It's the one day they go out for. But I was still pretty pleased with the attendance tonight. And maybe that's just because I was at so many games last year where I saw less than 10,000 people in that building. And it felt like I was, it felt like when it was closed or COVID, this was packed by all stretch of the imagination. Right. But, I mean, really what it's about, there's just thing.
Starting point is 00:22:11 You're absolutely right. I mean, baseball, I think, is the one sport. Every sport has proven that you can't throw money at it and win the champion. But baseball seems to be the one the most that seems like you can't throw money at it and win. Yeah. You can. You can win games, but really, like what the Dodgers have proven year after year, you just can't lock down that, that, you know, guaranteed World Series championship because of how much money you spend. Yeah, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:22:36 The Diamondbacks do have something very good going because it feels like these guys are underdogs, and it feels like they're on the precipice of being there, right? I think even with my ridiculous prediction early on of 82 and 80, I still think that the Diamondbacks are close and closer than we give them credit for. They really just need to figure out who they are, what their core is. And then maybe we do see them spend that money. Maybe we see them add those pieces. But we don't know if adding those pieces is going to translate over to wins either. Like you said, it's the money, right?
Starting point is 00:23:11 Yeah. And that's actually a fantastic point. And now I'm kind of like feeling bad for dogging on the Diamondbacks because I think if you look at a game like tonight, it gives you so much hope because they have pieces that are good and that are going to be successful. And if they can win games like this throughout the entire season and just buy themselves time for their younger players to make their way up through the system and join the Major League Baseball roster, they're going to be a good baseball team. And I'm so excited for the future. Like I really, really am. Like this just kind of like reinvigorated all of my excitement about this team because they have some of the pieces that they need to build or
Starting point is 00:23:46 around and if they can just inject those younger guys straight in right away and make sure that they developed perfectly like really well it's going to be so good and they're going to be so fun to watch i love nicholas baddie i hope it's baddie because baddie's awesome if your last name's baddie but i love this comment there really isn't much better in sports than an opening day baseball game not counting playoffs or any other sport and i agree with that like yeah there's some great days but when it comes to the first day of a sport opening day is the best and for us to walk it off and yes chris we fucking walk We won. Hell yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:17 We won. Me too, me. Let's go, walk off. Just a little bit. I want to talk to Omar. Okay, Omar said this might be the type of year where we're supposed to stuck would become good. We said that on the pregame show. They have the potential to be like the Giants of last year where like nobody looked at that roster and was like, man, they're going to win.
Starting point is 00:24:32 Right? Yeah, I mean. Like, everybody counted the Giants out last season. I think Jesse would know this better than I, but they were projected to be third in the division, right? Yeah, they were projected to win 74 games by 538.com. And of course, they went on to win 33 games more than that. So who knows people? Who knows?
Starting point is 00:24:52 Who knows? Who knows? Who knows? Brendan. Brendan Lee in the comments asked, so what are your thoughts on what the missing pieces are? I don't really know at this point. I feel like starting pitching appears to be one of the biggest missing pieces. I think one of the biggest problems is how much money they have invested in Madison, Pump Gardner and his performance that you saw here tonight.
Starting point is 00:25:12 But Luke Weaver even proved in his outing that he was. wasn't the answer, right? Like, he was a guy that we thought was going to be in the rotation, and he didn't even make it a full inning as a reliever tonight. So it's too early, too small of a sample size to start saying these guys are going to have bad years or anything. I just think starting pitching right now is really where they're lacking. And I think that might be a big reason why, you know, in general, they find themselves consistently in trouble. Yeah, well, I think Brandon asked a question earlier, too, that I wanted to get to. And I just, there's so many comments, which we love, by the way. Keep the comments coming in. He asked something about if we're worried,
Starting point is 00:25:46 Yeah, there it is. My question is we worried about Bumgarner only going three innings. Yes, very much so. Very worried. Pushed that panic button over here a little bit. I am terrified. I mean, I don't want to be a downer on this amazing opening day, but I never liked the Bumgarner contract. I think they paid way too much for a pitcher that's too old and definitely out of his prime. And I think today was a perfect example of why they should not have done what they did when it comes to that contract. And even last opening day, too, he only went four innings and he gave up six four runs, six runs, something like that.
Starting point is 00:26:13 Yeah. So Bumgarner is just not the Bumgarner. Bumgarner that he used to be. And then like Derek said, Luke Weaver is kind of scary. Zach Gellon is battling an injury in his shoulder. Like the starting pitching is kind of making me a little scared. I'm a little stressed about the starting rotation, to be honest.
Starting point is 00:26:26 And I think that's their weakest point right now. Jesse? Yeah, Bumgarner threw, he came out throwing hard. He came out throwing like 92 or 93 miles an hour, which at the beginning, I was like, hey, this is great. I mean, this is exactly what we hope for. The problem is he just didn't have any breaking or off speed stuff, like the entire game.
Starting point is 00:26:46 He was throwing a reasonable number of strikes with the cutter and the fastball over the first few innings. But eventually his command with those kind of faded, and he just couldn't put anyone away. It was just foul ball after foul ball. And then eventually he would just, you know, he would miss four times. Then guys kept drawing walks on him in that third inning. So yeah, for him, it's a matter of making it so that curve ball is sharp and something that he can actually turn to to get swings and misses.
Starting point is 00:27:12 And tonight, he just didn't have it. It was just kind of a mix of fastballs. cutters and even if the velocity is up, you know, he's not throwing a hundred miles an hour or no matter, you know, even on a good day. So he's not going to blow people away with that stuff. And usually in cases like this, when a pitcher would put up a performance like Madbom did tonight, I would say, oh, you know, like it's just opening day jitters, like give him a game or two and he'll locate his pitches, like everything's going to be fine. Boom Garner has been pitching in this league for longer than I've been alive, okay?
Starting point is 00:27:40 She's not wrong. He does not need time to figure it out. Like, he has a, he's a season pitcher, he knows what he's doing. I don't really think it's jitter, so I don't really know what I can chalk it up to other than his performance is really declining, and he just can't manage to get back to the mad bum of old. Well, I mean, let's be honest. Starting pitchers have bad outings all the time. They have short outings. So I guess, again, I'm still in a wait in C mode, but much like you, I'm pressing the panic button a little bit. You know, I'm definitely concerned, and I think the biggest thing there is, is that he's such a big part of this rotation. Yeah. He's not a guy that you can cut. He's not a guy you can move on from. He's going to be, if he's
Starting point is 00:28:20 healthy, he's going to be in the rotation. His place in the rotation might change, but he's going to be in the rotation. So I think that's very concerning. However, I'm not worried yet. I'm not worried yet because it still was only two runs, right? And so really what it comes down to is the offensive production. If the Diamondbacks were able to put up four runs earlier in the game, Madison Bumgardner would have kind of looked like a stud. Maybe he could have held on for an extra two innings and got five. I don't know if I would have ever called him a stud for throwing 40 pages in one inning. I don't care if the Vex said 14 runs. Jesse, they were so patient with him. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I don't, I'm not even even going to try to say your name,
Starting point is 00:29:00 but my favorite team getting a win on my B day. What else could I want? Happy birthday. Hell yeah. I wish I knew your actual name because then I would sing to you in a horribly off-key manner, but I don't. So I'll just wish you. You don't want that at all. That's a birthday present, but she's not singing to you. Let me tell you. Uh, but, but yes. Uh, but yes. I, um, um, um, martina, Martinez. Oh, Martinez. I say, I know, I'm having a, I've been, yeah, what are you talking about? I say after five starts of Madbom is still cheeks, we should build his value anyway and trade him.
Starting point is 00:29:30 I don't know if anybody wants that contract. No one's willing to take him on, right? No. There's not, I would put my, I would put money on this. There is not a single team in Major League Baseball that would add Madison Bumgarner to their roster. Yeah. I'm sorry, but we are stuck with Madbumb until he. decides he does not want to play baseball anymore,
Starting point is 00:29:47 which who knows how long that'll be because he's still going. Also, Cheeks is my favorite adjective, adverb, whatever part of speech that is that you used to describe the way football is incredible. Thank you for that comment. Isaiah Chavez saying, I'm very excited for the devac season. Us too, Isaiah. I love that energy.
Starting point is 00:30:07 I'm excited now. I'm freaking aunt, man. I was a little worried, but now I'm just excited. I'll say this much. You could breathe. the sigh relief, right? Like, it was nice to just get this first win, even if things don't go our way, even if the season ends up being, you know, less wins than we desire, right?
Starting point is 00:30:24 We don't have the success we're looking for. At least today, on this day. On this day. On this day, much like the Diamondbacks shirts they were wearing today, they are undefeated. They are 1 and 0. They were right. The shirts were right. 1.0.
Starting point is 00:30:38 I don't know what the 100. 162.0. Here we come. Yeah, that's right. See, I told you. I knew she was going to explode. into just a cloud of bunting and crackerjack soon enough. But we want you guys to check us out.

We were just, you know, I threw a comment in there about it being National Beer Day and the fact that Seth Beer was set up to bat in the ninth inning once the Diamondbacks had a runner on base. And, you know, I didn't make a firm prediction, which I, of course, now I wished I should have.
Starting point is 00:32:08 We need the omnipotent Jesse graphic. I know, I know. Yep, I fell short today. But, but yeah, no, it's always fun. That, sir, is your king of the game. Two hits, three RBI, walk-off, home run. Nothing else more to say about him than that.
Starting point is 00:34:33 Who else would it be? Seth Beer. Oliver Perez. That's who else it could be besides Seth Beer.
