Adrian Del Castillo drives in five runs today to help the Diamondbacks win their third series on this road trip, taking all three series and going six and three.
And you know what that means.
Let's lie up the cactus, baby.
The Diamondbacks win.
Another edition of the PHNX D-Backs podcast, from Studio K, presented by our friends at Circle K.
It is I, your mayor of PHNX, occasionally known as Derek Montia, also occasionally.
known as a man who has paid his debt to the IRS.
I am not alone, and I am thrilled to be talking about the Diamondbacks winning in extra
innings today by a score of 8 to 5.
I got my guy Damon Dogg on the ones and twos today, aka Damon Farrell, and of course,
we are joined by all of you.
Also, this show is brought to you by our friends at Bet365.
Go download that Bet365 app right now, where winning is everything.

Brandon Chips is right.
We really did the damn thing.
The Arizona Diamondbacks found a way to win today and take this series two games out of
three.
They probably should have swept the Orioles considering the debacle that happened there on Monday in game one.
But I guess that's what happens when we don't schedule a post-game show.
Damon, this one might be on us because the people needed the postgame show.
We didn't deliver the post game show.
I don't know.
I got to do everything I can to kind of take some sort of accountability here.
You're going to let him win?
Yeah, no.
I probably shouldn't let him win ever, ever.
But Ocean View Coffee Shop says the D-backs are scrappy as F.
Wish the Suns were.
Don't even get me started on that.
Last night I was laying in my bed and I couldn't sleep.
I was tossing and turning it.
I was like, why am I so upset?
Why am I so upset, Damon?
The Diamondbacks won.
I got my taxes paid.
Everything's good.
And that, that son's team is why I'm still upset today.
But thank God, this Arizona Diamondbacks team is coming through for us,
winning today again in extra innings by a score of 8 to 5.
They improve to 11 and 8 on the season, meaning they are three games above 500.
Damon, you know exactly what that means.
send my man up the mountain.
Most impressively, the Diamondbacks go six and three on this road trip.
A road trip where you could argue, if you wanted to,
that they should have even won more games than going just six and three.
They made some mistakes.
They had definitely a winnable game there on Monday to at least go seven and two
overall on this road trip.
But we can't focus on that over a long baseball season.
Mistakes are going to be made.
Games are going to be, I guess, you know, blown, right?
The Diamondbacks still have a have a,
I have a fair, decent amount of blown games this year, blown lead.
So it's not like this, that's not still this team.
And this was definitely a back and forth affair between these two teams that featured five lead changes overall.
And again, this was one of those games where you felt at times like the Diamondbacks were going to let it slip away.
You felt at times maybe like David did, where every time you were watching the game, something bad was happening to the debacks.
But then when you stopped watching the game, they magically took a little.
lead, right, Damon? Yeah, it did feel that way through the first like four innings of this
game for sure. But yeah, I think, you know, at the end, you know, the Diamondbacks prevailed
and the power of friendship wins again, Derek. I think I do, I do want to address this and I know
you don't believe it. I know nobody's out there is nobody out there is going to actually believe it.
But nothing you say or right. Even on social media publicly actually impacts your team. You just
blamed us as a podcast for not doing post-game shows.
Well, no, that's different.
That's different.
That's not doing a post-game show.
We let the team down.
They saw that we weren't going to be doing a post-game show, so they just gave up early in that team.
They were like, well, if the PHNX guys aren't going to try, why should we?
And they definitely didn't try late in that game.
They lost that one, 9 to 7.
But they did win the other two games of the series, including today, which was an impressive
game, considering things weren't really going their way.
Eduardo Rodriguez obviously did not have his best stuff.
stuff. And this team wasn't really getting, once again, performances from their stars,
Cotell Marte, who struck out three times today, and Haldopredomo, who did have a hit and
contributed, but definitely wasn't one of the key contributors in this one. That was definitely
Adrian Del Castillo. Corby and Carroll also had a huge impact on today's game. It was a day
where, if I was reading this right, I'm not sure if it was yesterday's game or today's game,
but Corbyn Carroll was supposed to have a day off, and he fought to stay in the lineup. And boy,
are we glad he did today because, again, he had a huge impact on this win.
But the Diamondbacks, again, go six and three on this road trip.
Just cannot say enough how impressive it is that they do go six and three,
even if you want to say they could have gone seven and two or maybe even eight and one.
But they do win all three series on their East Coast road trip and only lost one series this entire season,
that opener against the Los Angeles Dodgers where they got swept.
You know, the series where after game two, Damon had already eliminated this team from the playoffs.
Sorry, he's getting really lippy around here
Before the game talking about how he believed in them more than anyone else
So I just got to I just got to set him a little straight
I mean I did have the highest win total prediction of anyone on the podcast
That's what he was saying
That's what he was saying
But again, he also drafted Otati and told me how much he hates this team in doing so
He didn't say that but he showed me with his actions
Come on man
Most importantly Damon
As you know
Since we're already getting ready
to build the statue.
The Diamondbacks are 10 and 2 when Jose Fernandez is in the lineup.
That's the biggest key.
That's the biggest key here overall.
Thank you for changing my life.
Yeah.
Thank you so much, Jose Fernandez, for not only changing all of our lives,
but for, again, even today, having an impact in today's game.
But speaking of having an impact, somebody in the chat said it.
Our guy, Scotty Mac, says Vargy for MVP 100%.
Ildemar Vargas extended his franchise record, hitting street,
to 12 games to start his season, and he did it with a bunt single.
You got to love that.
You got to love that.
He got a hit later in the game, so that's fine.
But again, Corbyn Carroll was electric today.
He doubled in the first, but he got left stranded because they couldn't get their early
start on, a bunch of bums over there leaving Corbyn Carroll on second base.
But he did walk in the third inning and then scored on a Del Castillo triple that gave the
Diamondbacks an early lead in this game, not an early lead, but overcoming a league.
lead there from the Orioles who were up one to nothing. He then doubled again in the seventh inning,
moving Marte to third base, who then scored on an ADC groundout. So Corbyn just impacts the game,
glad he was out there, and the Diamondbacks probably don't win this game without Corbyn
Carroll being in the lineup. However, they definitely don't win this game today without Adrian Del Castillo
being in the lineup. He drove in five of the D-Backs eight runs today. He had a triple in the
third inning there that scored Carol and Geraldo Perdomo. He also had another RBI on a ground
out in the seventh that scored Marte. But the biggest moment of the game was when he hit the go-ahead
two-run, home run in the top of the 10th inning to put the Diamondbacks up seven to five at the time.
And then Nolan Arnado was able to add an additional RBI single to get the Diamondbacks up
to eight to five, which was the final score. But again, the Diamondbacks showed some impressive
defensive defense once again today. Probably my favorite defensive play was Ildemar Vargas, once again,
doing it all. Vargy in the ninth inning robbed Gunner Henderson on a ball that he absolutely smoked
off the bat for the second out in the inning. It was a 101.6 miles per hour off the bat. And again,
Vargy just made a really nifty play over there to get the out. So overall, it feels like he has
contributed in so many different ways, extending his franchise record, hit streak to start
the season to 12 games with that Bunt single.
And actually, his hit streak dates back to last season and is currently at 15 games,
which is the longest active streak in all of Major League Baseball.
Believe it or not.
I think Jordan Walker is second behind him.
They showed that on the broadcast.
But Varghi went two for five today with that single and a double.
And again, cannot say enough about what Vargas has been able to do this season.
In fact, Ilymara Vargas, according to the Arizona Diamondbacks,
is the ninth Major League Baseball player since 2022
to hit safely in 12 or more straight games to start a season.
And the only streaks that have been longer
were a Bryson Stott streak back in 2023.
That was 17 games.
A Christopher Morel streak for the Cubs back in 2023.
That was 13 games.
Juan Yeppez streak for the Nationals.
That was 2024.
And a Jacob Wilson streak from last year in 2025.
where he started the season with a 15-game streak.
So, again, Vargas is now kind of doing some incredible things,
including a little bit, a little bit of history.
Not only did he make history for the franchise,
but again, proving that he, this season,
has become one of the best players in all of Major League Baseball.
Now is the portion of the show where we pause and take a moment
for Damon to once again apologize to Ildomaro Vargas.
Damon, if you wouldn't mind, who have the floor?
Hi, my name is Damon Farrell.
Hi, Damon.
I come here every single postgame show,
and I have to apologize to our Lord and Savior,
I'maer of Argus,
for being disrespectful to him in the preseason
and saying I don't want to watch Eldamaro Vargas ball.
And then he's a 400 hitter.
I don't mean 400's a bit much.
He's only hitting 383.
He's Ted Williams.
He's 383.
And then he's Ted Williams.
I say that and he's Ted Williams.
So that's on me.
The one thing we figured out is that we need Damon to doubt this team all season long.
And if he does, they're going to make the World Series.
I mean, I told you I was out after game one of this Orioles series and then they win the final two games.
I mean, you didn't just say you were out on the series.
You said you were out on this team.
And you did this gesture once again.
I mean.
I appreciate it, honestly.
You know what?
It's a roller coaster of emotions being an Arizona Diamondbacks fan, Derek.
And sometimes do I play into it a little bit?
Yeah, I do.
But, you know, I ultimately, I think that there is something here.
And I've said, I said this all spring training, a hot start is so imperative to a good season here.
Because the Diamondbacks, every single year that they have where they make the playoffs,
it requires them to have a very, very good start to the season.
And playing this schedule, this has been a fantastic start.
I don't think you can ask for much more.
You really can't.
And I think the one thing about it is that we've said that we needed guys to step up.
And what we said was we knew we would get the production out of the big three,
but who else was going to step up?
And then you really have it.
And we have it.
I mean, Corbett Carroll.
Corbett has been doing it.
But Cotel Marte is still off to a slow start,
despite the fact that he hit two home runs in game one of this series.
In fact, our guy, Jose Romero, post-earned.
posted a tweet showing that they have officially marked with spray paint the location of
Cotell Marte's home run that went out onto Utah Street, which is spelled E-U-T-A-W, for those of
you keeping score at home.
And they will be putting a little plaque there in honor of Cotel Marte hitting that ball,
which is very cool.
He is the first Arizona Diamondback to ever hit a ball out of Camden Yards there into Utah
Street.
and by the way, just kind of looking over what Utah Street is,
it makes me jealous that we, once again,
don't have a party district for us at our stadium.
Oh, it's like the battery or something like that.
Basically, I think it's like actually part of the ballpark.
It's between the ballpark, outfield,
and those like warehouses that are behind it,
but you actually have to like have a ticket to get into Utah Street
and I'm going to need to buy one
so that I can go visit Cattel Marte's plaque one of these days.
It sucks that you wasted the Catele-Marte game, like when you think about it.
We did.
And the Nolan Aronado game, where he hit two-home runs too.
Yeah.
And he was more back than ever.
How?
How?
How do we waste it?
Oh, God.
That's a tough loss to take.
No, it really is.
It really is.
Nolan Aronado, again, was one of the top performers in today's game.
He went two for five and had that additional RBI there in extra innings that kind of made you feel
much better.
Like this Baltimore Orioles team is dangerous, but more importantly, I, Damon, I don't ever, ever want to see Jeremiah Jackson ever again at the plate against the Arizona.
I've been scarred for life. I've had enough of Jeremiah Jackson. It reminds me of what Bryce Matthews did to the Diamondbacks last year.
Oh, yes. If you remember in that Astros series, the dude just absolutely, you know, cooked the Diamondbacks and, you know, had his entire career.
years worth of war in one series.
This is the same thing.
Well, again, Groundhog Mama says that you talked poorly about Aronado and then he hit two
home runs.
So we might be figuring something out.
I'm not ready to apologize to Aronado yet.
Not yet, but you are, we never said anything bad about Adrian Del Castillo and he was
the savior today.
And obviously, he is our beloved Kingsnake for today's game.
Adrian Del Castillo goes two for five
with five of the Diamondbacks eight RBIi.
He had one home run.
He had one triple.
That triple was definitely aided by Weston Wilson,
not necessarily making a clean play there
in that weird outfield.
I would suggest that the Orioles stop messing
with their outfield, by the way,
because as far as Damon and I are concerned,
we've suggested maybe the Diamondbacks
doing something about the outfield,
but I don't know.
The Orioles have...
moving things in, moving things out.
And it is a very weird area where Adrian Del Castillo
hit that triple. But overall,
big day here for the Diamondbacks,
just to kind of stay in this one.
The Orioles did not relent,
and they did not give up in this game.
But I think somebody said it earlier in the chat.
You did get the feeling that the Orioles were kind of going
for the long ball entirely too much.
D-backs had a pretty good strategy.
Part of that strategy was just staying away from Pete Alon's
altogether.
And they even let him hang himself out to dry there as he was struck out on an automatic strike
call due to not being ready, essentially a pitch clock violation by the batter.
And that was a huge moment there.
I believe that was in the eighth inning with Kevin Ginkle in the game.
So again, solid, solid day for the Diamondbacks.
Things definitely bounced their way.
and again the fact that this team now sits at 11 and 8 after going 6 and 3 on this road trip
very impressive very impressive and again diamondbacks have not lost a series all season long
outside of that first series against the los angeles dodgers now they have a day off tomorrow
before taking on the toronto blue jays here on friday and even though things have been
going their direction you kind of laugh about
the idea here that the Diamondbacks cannot seem to get all three of their gears spinning in the same
direction at the same time. Even with winning these games, I do not believe we've seen the best
version of this team. And that's easy to be said about a lot of teams. But I do feel like this
team has not really gotten their offense together. They are, they should be absolutely lucky,
or feel lucky that they are getting the contributions from their six through nine hitters that
they have been getting all season long. And that continued today. I mean, Vargas, two for five,
Arnado, two for five. Alec Thomas and Barroso, one for five and one for four. Like, I know those
guys are struggling down at the bottom end of the lineup, but again, you're still getting production
from those positions, no matter who is hitting towards the bottom of the lineup. So it does feel
like that is a big change from last season for this offense. But man, it would be nice to see Catell,
Corbin and Perdomo also all going in a game maybe once or twice this season instead of it just kind of being this different cast of characters that step up for this team.
But kudos again to Jose Fernandez, one for five today.
He continues to hit the ball well.
306 batting average, a 775 OPS.
But again, the guy's leading the way today.
Vargy, a 383 average with a 1068 OPS and Corby and Carole hitting 311 with a 10.01.
OPS. So offensively, the Diamondbacks are still getting things going. Starting pitching,
had a great start to the year, but now some of their guys came back down to Earth, including
Eduardo Rodriguez today, who obviously did not have his finest outing, but still gave the
Diamondbacks enough to win this ball game. And we are going to talk about his performance,
along with the performance of the bullpen that was gritty and another close game where they
helped this team win. We were going to talk about it on the other side of this break. Don't you guys
go anywhere. You're watching the PH and next Diamondback show. Well, shout out to Circle K for keeping me

And while you're there, grab yourself some Arizona lottery scratcher tickets, specifically
there are multiplier family scratcher tickets where you can multiply more of the things you love
in life. Damon and I have already suggested taking more baseball road trips. That is an excellent
way to get more of the thing we love in our lives. Plus, again, I definitely could use a car
upgrade. I know Damon recently upgraded his vehicle, but I could use. I could use.
you know, maybe some more vehicles in my life.
And that might mean like scooters and jet skis and whatnot.
But if I, if I win this, I'm definitely buying a jet ski, Damon, that's for sure.
That is very daring.
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
I probably use it twice a year and I still want one.
But with multiplier scratchers from the Arizona lottery, you can multiply the good things in life,
like vacation, relaxation, and celebration.
Because with over $270 million in projects or prizes, you could win enough to do more
the things you love in life. Multiplier tickets start at just $1 and have prizes up to $5 million.
So with access to over 3,500 retailers across the state, you can play whenever and wherever you'd
like. Love the play with Arizona lottery. Must be 21 or over to play. Scottie Mac's right. And
Scottie Mac's also gorgeous. So do what he says. He says, smash the like button. Smash that like
button right now if you are in here. Smash the like button for the Arizona Diamondbacks winning all three
series on the road. That is a great reason to smash that like button right now. It's also
because of Damon and I, right? I mean, don't we deserve it? We're here all the time. We were
up very early to be here watching a baseball game at 9.30 in the morning. Not something we're
used to, but hey, not a lot of people are. Well, not a lot of people are built for this. But
Eduardo Rodriguez, he was okay. It was his worst outing of the season, but still not a terrible
outing, still not a meltdown. He gave this team a chance to win. I think the biggest problem
today was his primary pitch was his four-seem fastball. And Erod himself has already confessed
that one of the things that he felt improved his game substantially after the WBC start
against the Dominican Republic was essentially not going to his fastball as often, going to his
off-speed stuff, maybe using his cutter a bit more, and his change-up, which has been a really
good pitch for him this season. And today he has not really done that. Today he went heavy on the
four seam usage, which again really hasn't been a part of his success this season. It was a steady
diet of four seam fastballs and change up today. I think we have the pitch chart, Damon, but his
again, 43% four seam usage in this one. And a big part of it is that he was, you know, you can
see the four seam is that red dot there. He was definitely dotting the edges and trying to
be a little fine. He was missing. It didn't seem like he had his best command with that
four seam fastball, but his command with his changeup and his other off speed pitches might just have
been a little bit worse. So he leaned heavily on that four seam fastball. He threw that 43% of the
outing. 37% of his outing was change up. And then it was just a small amount of curbball,
sinkers and cutters, 10% curveball, 6% sinker and 4% cutter there. But yeah, I mean,
Again, some of the stuff wasn't competitive, as you can see, the curb ball landing there by the batter's feet.
That was a big reason why he stopped throwing that.
It's kind of hilarious, though, because Eduardo Rodriguez doesn't get run support in outings where he's brilliant and has one of his best games.
All three outings this year have been brilliant.
Eduardo Rodriguez has allowed one earned run prior to today's outing, and he gets no run support.
Yet today on his worst outing of the year, the Diamondbacks, pick him up.
Can't explain it, but he also, I did not get the win.
So there's that as well.
But they refused to let him win.
However, they will give run support once he leaves the game.
And that's something that's kind of hilarious.
But he did only get two whiffs today, so he really wasn't fooling anybody.
In the second, he gave up a pair of doubles with two outs to Kobe Mayo and Sam Huff.
Not exactly the guys in the Orioles lineup.
You're worried about threatening and hitting a pair of doubles in a row.
that gave Baltimore their first run early, and that was their early lead.
And then the Diamondbacks again took the lead back in the second.
Then the Baltimore Orioles tied it again in the third after Erod walked Pete Alonzo again.
Then he walked Jonathan Rodriguez.
And guess who?
Jeremiah freaking Jackson brought in Alonzo with an RBI single to tie the game up at two.
And I swear to God, if I don't ever see that man play baseball again, I will be thankful.
And that's not like I want him out of the sport.
I just don't want to watch him at the plate against the Diamondbacks anymore because he was that damn good in this series.
With two outs in the fifth inning, he gave up a single to Weston Wilson, and then,
goddamn Jeremiah Jackson again, hit a home run that put the Orioles up by a score of four to three at the time.
Get this man away from my baseball team.
My God.
I don't mean Erod.
I mean Jeremiah Jackson.
But again, Erod was fine today.
but like I said, not his best outing.
He went five innings, gave up six hits, four earned runs.
He walked four, which is probably the biggest problem, like I said yesterday, about
Merrill Kelly's outing, and then he struck out three.
So again, another outing where he was still able to be effective despite giving up runs
here and there.
And, you know, even though he was not sharp and it felt like there was always a runner on base
or a run scoring, he still minimalized.
the damage and again he gave this team
with only four runs scored a chance
to win. But
let's talk about the bullpen
because the bullpen had yet another
fairly incredible outing.
Kevin Ginkle came in, he gave this team
two innings pitched. He did give up
an earned run. He gave up two hits
and he did not walk anybody
struck out four. Ginkle's looking
much better. I know he did give up that run
but he cruised
through the sixth inning
and in the seventh he gave up
lead off single to Gunner Henderson, who then stole second and scored on a weak-ass single by
Leone Tavares that tied the game up at five.
Damon and I were sick about it.
And Damon, I think, started an entire fight online with several people about how Nolan Arnato
should have had it.
No, I just said, could he not have dove for it is all I said.
And I came to the conclusion that the defensive alignment was just kind of screwed up.
Like I don't-
Yes, that's very true.
I don't think that you should-
You know who you're feeding into right now.
I don't think that you should be in a situation
where Nolan Aeronado is playing in for a bun
and Pardomo is the guy who's checking the runner on second base.
100% and holding him back
because that entire left side of the infield was wide open
for a 56.3 mile per hour, you know,
dribbler to make its way through.
And it just, it stinks that that's what's ending up costing you.
So I feel like maybe
there's something there that could have been, you know, done better from an alignment perspective.
I don't know who that's on, but it also did feel like Aeronado gave up on it a little bit quick.
I'm going to still say that.
I was watching the replay a million times.
I'm not saying he could have got it.
I do feel like he gave up on it really quickly.
He didn't.
But he gave up on it, Damon, because he knew he couldn't get there.
That's the reason why he gave up on it.
But, hey, that's not for me to discuss.
what is for me to discuss with you is the Pete Alonzo pitch clock violation strike.
Oh. You were fired up about it.
You know I was fired up about it because you started yelling at Bo.
Oh, yeah.
I was immediately.
What happened on the, on the pitch clock?
And then you're standing up.
Pete Alonzo.
I was trying to start a fight with Bo.
Bo's like, hey, my man.
So what happened is, and again,
another reason why Adrian Del Castillo deserves Kingsnake today.
Little gamesmanship from him.
ADC just kind of stood there behind Pete with his mask off.
And like it's not necessarily like I feel like Ginkle would have gotten a pitch clock
violation if Pete Alonzo didn't get one.
Because I just did not feel like they were going to be ready with ADC crouched behind
the plate and down and for him to start his motion towards before that pitch clock.
ran out, but basically because of that, P. Lonzo also just kind of was laxadaisical.
Checked his helmet a little bit, did some things. Now, the one thing I will argue is that the umpire
completely stepped out, called time before Pete attempted to call time himself. He was like,
he was like, you're not, I'm not fired. I quit. I'm not fired. I quit. Yeah, that was,
I tried to pull one of those. I'm, I'm going to sit down myself because I want to, not because you're
telling me to. That's kind of the same. No, I called time before that. Yeah, no, I did it. No,
You really didn't, right?
But a lot of it had to do with Del Castillo kind of standing up and deeking him a little bit.
It also had, I felt like, to do with just the way the Diamondbacks were purposefully playing the situation.
But again, I honestly don't think Alonzo even saw the Empire step out.
I think that when he called time, he legitimately thought he was still calling it within time and he did not.
It was big in that moment.
Huge moment.
Huge moment.
They're late in the game for the Diamondbacks to get that out.
So again, it's just a big reason why you feel like things went their way today.
Like just some lucky bounces went their way instead of going the opposition's way,
which is how things have felt for the last two years when watching this baseball team.
You don't really feel like we get a lot of bounces going our way.
It's like everything we have to work hard for and we have to, you know, kind of be gritty
and work for it.
And other teams just get it handed to them sometimes.
And that's definitely could be said about it.
the ABS system, but we'll get to that.
The rest of the bullpen, outstanding today.
Outstanding.
Taylor Clark, the least sexy outings that you've ever seen?
Just no numbers across the board.
Just one inning pitched.
That's it.
No hits.
No strikeouts.
No walks, no runs.
No nothing.
Just an inning of baseball with three outs occurring in that inning of baseball.
Same thing with T-time Ryan Thompson.
He does not melt down.
Never melts down.
Well, did one time, but that's still not his fault.
One inning of work, no hits, no runs, no nothing.
no strikeouts.
And then Juan Murillo comes in in the 10th inning and does his job, which is beautiful to
see, especially considering what happened with him in this series.
But Juan, it's...
I will say, Derek, I will say about Taylor Clark.
He has been great for this team and minus that Dodgers outing.
Yeah.
Today he did get hit pretty hard.
Taylor?
Yeah.
He had that ground out that Ildamara Vargas snagged.
Oh, yes.
Yeah, you're right.
109 miles per hour off the bat.
He's gotten some good defense behind.
There was another flyout that was 93.5 miles per hour off the bat.
And then there was Blaze Alexander ground out 99 miles per hour off the bat.
So all three outs were 90 plus miles per hour off the bat.
So he did get hit decently hard today.
But the defense picked him up.
And I think that that's good to see.
And then on Murillo, I mean, that was a fantastic performance.
Just big time.
He gets the strikeout with the guy on third.
Yeah.
And then, you know, ends up straining that runner.
and you win eight to five.
I mean, didn't even need to, like, really work that hard to strand that runner,
but it's just nice to see them close the door without letting that ghostrunner score from second,
and it's just nice to watch this team step up in extra innings like they did,
put this game out of reach for the Orioles and win the game before they even have to get really to the bottom of the 10th.
But great job there by the bullpen overall.
And they continue to be impressive this season, Damon.
I know that they had their definitely a bad outing.
blame the entire bullpen. And in fact, Taylor Rashi, who was part of that explosion or implosion,
I should say, has been optioned to AAA Reno already. So you feel like the Diamondbacks aren't
really giving guys a very long leash. And to be fair, that's probably the best move. It feels like
when they started doing that last season, they were able to sift through their available relievers
and find guys they can count on. And again, this is another season where they need to do that. But
I feel like they have less spots that they need to fill.
Ryan Thompson continues to be outstanding.
Paul Seawald is inexplicably good in these safe situations.
You also have, of course, Taylor Clark and a few other guys.
Even with his contributions to that loss on Monday,
Jonathan Loisaga has been solid, as has been Juan Morillo.
So these guys aren't going to be perfect.
They're not going to be the best relievers in baseball,
but they're continuing to give the Diamondbacks an opportunity to win
in closed games, including today where this game was tied after nine innings and went into
extras.
Yeah.
I mean, I honestly, I think I really like Mario, the more that I see him this season.
And it feels like he's limiting walks and that changes everything a little bit, you know,
more, you know, settled.
And it feels like he's such a weapon when it comes to these extra inning games as well,
because he, he throws so hard that he can get the strikeouts that are required to strand runners
that start off.
second base. And so I'd rather, you know, lose with a guy like that, like that, who maybe has a
little bit of, of a control issue, than lose with a guy like Taylor Rash, who comes in, throws
92, and people are just squaring it up and getting that run across immediately. So I think that
Murillo has been really good for this team, and he continues to kind of, you know, just show consistency,
which is great. So I'm, I'm really excited about him. Ryan Thompson, like he said, has looked good. Taylor
Clark's been reliable.
So, like, there are guys in the bullpen that I think you can rely upon right now,
which is a weird feeling.
New territory.
New territory.
Diamondbacks bullpen currently has a 4.81 ERA, which is 22nd in all of Major League
Baseball.
Damon, we move up seven more spots.
We're climbing up Mount 500, which is the 15th place.
We're in the mother effing yoffs if we could get this bullpen to 15th in Major League
baseball and you know it. You know it. And it's not, again, it's not just the relievers that have been
outstanding. I mean, again, I know that they've kind of dropped back a little bit due to some
poor performances, but the Diamondbacks bullpen or starting rotation has a 3.48 ERA, which is 10th best
in Major League Baseball. So still, right where you feel if they can stay in that area as far as
comparatively to the other starting rotations in baseball, you feel like this team can win a
lot of baseball games. In fact, the Damon's prediction of 88 is looking more and more solid. And in fact,
that the number with a nine on it might be in range because pitching wins baseball games.
I think this, we've seen the last two years that it doesn't matter if you have a top five
offense, top three offense. It doesn't matter if your bullpen and your starting rotation are both
bottom five in baseball. True. Period. You're not going to win baseball games. But this,
this feels different. And that, that ERA again,
features Joe Ross and one James McCann.
So you could probably factor that in
and have that bullpen ERA probably be a little bit better.
If you take out Taylor Rashi's performance from Monday,
there's a good chance that they're already a top 15 bullpen.
But we're not going to go that crazy.
Then you're just taking out all the bad performances.
Yeah, we'll just take out all the bad performances.
I think Joe Ross probably keep it in there as I forgot who said that.
I think James McCann is the only one.
Yeah, we'll take out James McCann.
For sure.
But still, that's not going to move the needle.
It was five inning or five earned runs, I believe, in one inning of work.
But still, one of the worst performances from a reliever, you know, so far this season.
If you want to call him that, I just call him the mechanical.
I call him sexy man James McCann.
I call him the big body.
But you can call him whatever of those names you wish.
Or if you just want to call him Jimmy, I also call him that at times too,
especially when it gets a hit at the plate.
But today, Adrian Del Castillo was our catcher of choice and the guy that did it today.
So shout out to Dell because, again, he is another guy that's been really contributing
and under the radar performer Del Castillo now hitting 346 with a 923 OPS.
I know it's a small sample size, but in that small sample size, he's hitting 346 with a 923 OPS.
So say what you will.
but I'm glad that the Diamondbacks once again have found a way with Catelle and Perdomo struggling right now to put runs up on the board.
And man, there's a lot of people talking about Perdomo struggling in the board in the chat.
And we're just going to absolutely move past that.
We're going to move past that.
I mean, we don't have to.
I don't think that we should derail the show and talk about, you know, another series win on the East Coast and use that the time in the first half of the show to talk about who's playing bad on the team.
That's just my opinion on a post game show.
You're going to have that.
Yeah.
And yeah, it's been not the best start to the season for Pardomo.
We can talk about that in a second.
But yeah, Adrian Del Castillo has been fantastic at the plate.
And I feel like he's always been a major league caliber hitter, or has been at least for, you
know, the last season and a half.
Yeah.
But it's about his defense.
Can he play at this level?
Is he just probably a DH that has to count?
when Gabby gets hurt from time to time, which seemingly is just going to be something that
the Diamondbacks are going to have to live with. So, I mean, that's kind of what I see out of
ADC, but I definitely believe in the bat. The dude hits, you know, doubles consistently,
hits it over the fence, shows up in big moments. Like, he's a valuable piece to have in the
organization. I do believe that. Jeremy Strong pointing out in the chat that the Padres are nine
and won in their last 10 and they're ruining this fun that we're having.
This is true.
They just have to be better than us right now.
They won six games in a row.
We really need Josh Naylor to step things up there for Seattle.
They did play the Rockies.
I know.
I will say that they definitely did not take an East Coast road trip that involved
them playing the Mets, Phillies, and Orioles all at home.
So overall, even though this was tough and a struggle at times,
and the Diamondbacks did lose games they should have won,
that's still a very, very important thing to consider is the difficulty of what the Diamondbacks have done over their last 10 games going 7 and 3 versus the Padres going 9 and 1 and, you know, just again, beating some teams that they had a lot of comeback wins, a lot of late wins there in San Diego.
So, I mean, I'm not, I'm not worried about the records just yet.
We are going to be a different team as this season progresses.
Yeah.
So, like, this right here is just about essentially the bottom of our depth, right?
Because at this point, with the losses that they've experienced, with Gabrielle Moreno being down, Pavan Smith being down, Jordan Lawler being down, Lordus Guriel Jr. being down.
Corbyn burning Burns being down.
Who else?
Justin Martinez is AJ Park.
Christian Mana.
Like, the list goes on.
Did I say Carlos Santana?
I mean, it's incredible.
Anyway, that's neither here or there.
But the bigger point being is that the list of injuries is big,
and it seems to be growing once again this season.
The fact that the debacks have production like they've had from Adrian Del Castillo stepping up,
from Jose Fernandez emerging as a superstar,
and for journeyman, Ildemarovar Vargas, who has played on this team for 150 different seasons
and finally is having the best year of his entire career right now,
like they would be lost without those three guys.
And that right there is how they've not only won 11 games this season,
but how they went six and three on this road trip
and we're able to win all three series.
Those guys in Corbyn Carroll.
And yeah, it's been a collection of like the misfit toys.
And it's awesome to see you.
You love the underdog stories like that.
Guys that kind of come out of nowhere like Jose Fernando.
who were just surging in spring training and, you know, got on everyone's radar and turns out
as just kind of a special baseball player, like you said.
So, I mean, it's exciting.
And, yeah, I think that the main portion of this part of the season was always to stay above
water, stay afloat.
And the diabetics have taken that and they've done better than that so far.
So if they can continue to keep stacking Ws and, you know, getting above 500, we can keep climbing
Mount 500 on every postgame show, it'll be electric.
I need to turn on this light a lot.
Brandon Chip says it's so D-backs of D-backs, right?
And he's not wrong because, again, it's going to be equally frustrating when we
probably see them start losing the teams they should beat.
Let's hope that doesn't happen, but this feels like, that feels like a Diamondbacks
thing to happen, to step up and somehow be very good against teams that you probably
shouldn't have won that many games against
or at least a road trip that you probably
shouldn't have won that many games on.
And instead, you looked great throughout
and in fact, looked like you should have won more
than you did.
And, you know, again, this is,
I don't know, that this is the kind of team
that then would really disappoint us
by playing down when we have that stretch
like I have been talking about next month
against the Giants and the Rockies
where I believe they play like 12, 13 games
in a row against those two teams.
So hopefully that's not the case.
case. Hopefully this team finds a way to just continue to roll and maybe just maybe when they face
some of these weaker opponents actually, you know, give their bullpen more than a one-run lead
late in the game as they've done so many times this season, right? Yeah, it feels like the offense
is very like one-ending centric still, which is still going to be a problem that they have to
fix here and be more consistent throughout the game. But, you know, it's it's gotten them to a place
where they're above 500 right now.
So, you know, can't complain too much.
Hey, but you know who is complaining Killer Rex?
And Damon, it's that time where he's gone too far for me.
So it is time to kick Killer Rex from the chat.
He didn't even say anything bad, but I'm sick of him using the word glazing.
So he's out of here.
I mean, they're above 500, man.
Get him out of here.
If you're a DeBax fan, you should be happy about the direction that the team is taking so far this season.
And I don't really understand focusing on the negativity.
and that's coming from someone, Derek, I, I,
Damon thrives in the world of negativity.
I do, and I, and I make jokes to you all the time, but.
It's the most amazing thing you ever see.
But it's not, that's not what I want to happen.
I want my team to win baseball games.
And this is more fun.
It's just easier to be negative.
It's easier because if you, you know, if you, if you say, oh, we're not going to make the playoffs.
And then they don't, then you're, you feel vindicated and right.
But if they do, you get your cake and you get to eat it too,
because you get to pretend like you never said that crap earlier in the season.
you're like, yay, my team's in the playoffs, right?
So I understand how especially jaded sports fans like us in Arizona do that to protect our
own mental health and well-being.
I have a soul inside of this body and I have to treat it well.
And part of that is turning off a son's game when you know they're going to blow it,
even though they shouldn't.
And I should have done that, but I didn't and I didn't sleep well because of it.
And I got to thank the Diamondbacks for at least giving me this one because
I might sleep like a baby tonight.
But we're going to take a quick break.
That's a stable man, ladies and gentlemen.
I mean, come on.
You know I'm not stable.
People don't watch this show for stability.
No, they don't.
They watch this show for insanity.
And that's what we provide to you.
So make sure, of course, to stick around.
We'll be right back.
We're going to talk a little bit more about the numbers from this series.
And also, we got to discuss Craig Albernaz being the toughest human being alive.
We're going to do that on the other side of this break.
Don't you go anywhere.
You're watching the P.
to next Diamondback Show.
Well, shout out to our friends from the husband and wife law team.
Mark and Alexis Breyer are the husband and wife law team.
And if you are ever in a serious injury or accident,
you should contact them first because the lawyer you hire does matter.
Phoenix is their home and they are specialists here in the Valley.
They bring hundreds of years of combined trial experienced and they have multiple
certified specialists in personal injury and wrongful death.
That's important because in the state of Arizona,
the state bar has certified less than 1% of all lawyers is specialists in injury and wrongful death litigation, making them experts in the field.
They also know their way around a courtroom and know what needs to be done to prevail in front of a jury on your behalf.
While they cannot guarantee the outcome of your case, they can make you promises as their client.
And some of those promises include that if you wish to cancel your fee agreement with them at any time for any reason you can do so, you will receive as much in your pocket as they receive for their fee.
even if they have to reduce their attorney fees to do so.
And again, you have the right to trust that as your lawyer,
they will tell you both the strengths and weaknesses of your claims
so that you can make informed decisions.
So if you've had a serious injury called the husband and wife law team first

All right, well, this is an interesting series
that, again, probably should have been a sweep, you could argue.
Don't know how the rest of the timeline goes
if the Diamondbacks do win that game,
that they were up seven to one in on Monday.
But again, let's take a look here
at the overall numbers from the series.
Diamondbacks outscore the Orioles in these three games
by a score of 19 to 17.
They out hit the Orioles 33 to 23.
They had six home runs to the Orioles five,
four of which were hit by Jeremiah Jackson,
a man whose name I never want to hear ever again.
Dback starting pitching ERA had the edge here a little bit.
Their ERA in these three games was 4.02 with Eduardo Rodriguez's four runs today being the worst outing of a starter in the series.
Meanwhile, the Orioles, they have a 5.7 for ERA, gave up four runs a couple of times in this series.
But a big story here was the bullpen ERA.
Again, the Diamondbacks was really, really kind of ruined there on, in games.
game one in two and two-thirds innings bullpen gave up seven earned runs. But outside of that,
one earned run yesterday, one earned run in five innings of relief today. So even though that ERA
is ugly, it's pretty much ugly because of one game. The other two games, they were great.
Orioles 3.31 ERA, solid performance overall here from the Orioles bullpen. But Diamondbacks,
again, take two out of three. The ABS challenges, well, teams weren't great. Neither team was
really good. Three for seven for the Diamondbacks, three for eight for the Orioles. D-backs are moving
down the list as far as a percentage of correct usage calls or calls overturned. I think they're
now like 12th or 13th in Major League Baseball. They did have the best success percentage of any
team there for a minute, even though they did have like the lowest usage pretty much in all
the Major League Baseball. So good to see them at least trying a bit more, but I do feel
like there were some emotional calls like today when Ketel Marte
Challenge won and it was obviously in the zone like it was so obviously in the
zone so I don't know I don't know what the right call is but I do feel like once
again this is a something the Diamondbacks need to work on a strategic plan needs
the guy to be put in place here a little bit better and it's it's new for all of us
including Tori LaBello there and his staff but big series win here and like I
said the Diamondbacks have a day off tomorrow because
for welcoming the Toronto Blue Jays into town this weekend,
and that's going to be a very fun series.
I am actually going to leave you in the very capable hands of Damon and Danielle on Friday
because I'm taking what I consider to be a well-deserved day off,
despite what one man in this chat might think in regards to that.
But I'm going to-
You can't be T-in-M-up like that.
Yeah, no, I probably shouldn't be T-N-M-up like that, but I will...
Now he actually might get banned.
I'll be out at Reggae Rise Up this weekend, having myself a great time,
and definitely being out of contact, Damon.
Do not expect me to return any Slack messages over the course of...
What if it's, like, an insane game?
Derek doesn't exist.
Derek, no oblaigless.
Do you know, do entende?
That's where we're at when that comes around.
But, again, I just think that I deserve it, frankly.
But that's just one person's thought process.
Still, though, a very important series here against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Because that's, again, that's one of those teams that we had on our schedule looking ahead,
that you had your worries about facing them.
They just came off of a big world series, you know, where they almost won the whole thing.
And, you know, here we sit, looking at our schedule at the beginning of the year,
thinking, whoa, that's going to be a tough series.
Now, we're seeing this Blue Jays team have their struggles as well.
In fact, you look all across baseball.
and right now the standings are kind of incredible.
Like it's just, I don't want to say mediocre because it's not.
It's just like a lot of parity right now.
The Tampa Bay Rays lead the American League East with nine wins right now.
They're nine and seven and they've taken the lead over the Yankees in that division.
The Minnesota Twins are 11 and 7 and have been playing some really good baseball going eight and two in their last 10 games.
Currently on a four-game win streak, the raise,
also on a four-game win streak.
The Detroit Tigers finally got stuff together.
They're on a four-game win streak.
They're 8-9.
There's just a lot of teams that are 10 and 9, 8-9, 7-10, 7-9-9-9-8.
9-8.
I mean, the AL-East is, Rangers are 9-8,
athletics are 9-8 and 8,
and 8, and 8.
Astros, who've been terrible,
are still 7-11 and somehow just 2-5 games back in that division.
Like, there's just a lot of parity across baseball.
Of course, the Dodgers have the most wins, but even they sit at 13 and 4, and our division has two 11 game winners with the Padres and the Diamondbacks.
And that's the, I believe, only division, the only division right now with multiple teams with 11 plus wins is the NL West.
Because of course it is.
Of course it is.
Dodgers sit at 13 and 4, Padres 11 and 6 going 9 and 1 in their last 10, currently on the highest, hottest winning streak in baseball, winning 6.
games in a row. On the flip side of things, the Mets are a disaster right now. They have lost seven
games in a row. And in fact, a writer from W.E. promised Danhausen that he would get his face
on one of the trucks that they use to transport equipment around. And in exchange for doing so,
he asked Downhousen to uncurse the Mets. And he did it. And I have a bone to pick with Dan
Because I asked him first.
I offered to put his face up on this wall.
I don't have the power to put him on a WWE truck, obviously.
But I'll put him right here next to Cam Scataboo.
And he never responded to my message, not one time.
Over top of Scataboo.
I'm furious with this man right now, or demon or whatever.
He's very evil, very nice.
It's weird.
We do have some super chats to go to here, Damon, including one here from Macy Dixon.
Thank you so much for your super chat.
says, I'm shocked.
They are playing this well with Cotel and Domo,
not really doing much consistently.
ADC, Jose, and Vargas are studs.
They absolutely are.
You cannot say enough about what those guys have done to step up
in the absence of the big three,
and not even the big three,
two of the big three,
because I will not throw dirt on Corbyn Carroll's name like that.
Ball know or Macy, though.
I mean, that's 100% right.
That's what we were talking about earlier in the podcast.
Like Catell, he seems to be figuring it out a little bit more
than Pardomo does.
but, you know, obviously both of them haven't been playing to their level so far this season,
came into this series with both of them hitting under 200, I think.
And then, you know, ADC, Jose Fernandez, and Ildemar Havargas just continue to keep you above water,
which is crazy to think about.
Well, our guy, Terrence tidbits, appreciate him with his super chat.
Thank you so much.
He says, O's fan, but I come in peace.
The community is awesome.
Thank you so much for being here, man.
We appreciate you.
I know you've been here even before this series, so we thank you for.
for joining us. He says, shout out to Barrosa and ADC. D-BACs are a top five must-watch team.
Every game they play, you're on the edge of your seat. The Kattel Bunt-Bunt-Bunt jump-starter rally.
Hey, man, I mean, he's not wrong, and you cannot say that this team is not fun to watch.
Outside of the 17-2 game and maybe opening day, the Diamondbacks have been in every single game,
and, you know, they've found a way to battle back even when they're down late. They still have to figure
out a way to get those, you know, contributions outside of one big inning at times. That's still
been a problem this year. But the pitching has done a tremendous job of carrying the load and
helping keep these games as close as possible and giving this team a chance to win. So they absolutely
are must see, must see TV this team for sure. Shout out Terrence. Terrence watches the Wildcats
show sometimes too. I got this hat somewhere close to campus, but if you have social media,
you DM me and I'll try to help you find it.
Hell yeah.
Hell yeah.
That's what we do on this show.
We talk ball and then we look good doing it and then we help you.
Sometimes.
I mean, we got to figure out the turn-the-clock ahead jersey thing, what we're going to wear under them.
I mean, or you and me just have to hit the gym and we got to come out with guns blazing and put those things on.
Roberto Calamari.
Thank you.
You feels like a cousin of Johnny Lazzania.
Roberto Calamari.
Daman, can you say Corbyn definitely won't win MVP?
Here's the thing, Derek, is that I don't think that I'm like a mush like that.
You know, like I do think that there are times where I'm a little bit off the wall.
And so I say some things that are going to be not true and not fair.
But I do think that when we did our bold predictions episode,
I'm pretty sure I said Corbyn was going to be a top three NL MVP candidate.
So I think I said the opposite.
And he's had a great start to the season.
So it doesn't always work like that.
Sometimes the bold predictions work in the positive direction, and they swing that way, too.
So it's just, it's weird how it works.
It's great for content, though.
You're either right or you're hilariously wrong.
Yeah, that's true.
That's very true.
But let's take a quick break.
And on the other side of this break, again, before we get out of here, we just got to give a shout
out to Orioles manager, Craig Albernaz for being, again, one of the toughest human beings I've ever seen.
What happened?
I did see something and then I didn't really look into it.
Well, we're going to talk about it on the other side of this break, Damon.
That's what we call a tease in this business.
My God, just wait a second.
We'll be right back.
This is the PHNX Diamondback show.
Damon, wait.
Well, of course, APS wants to help you save some money this summer.
And we know those hot summer months are right around the corner.

But of course, we can all use some help managing our energy bills every single month here in the desert,
not just during the hot summer months.
and of course, particularly as temperatures rise, we need all the help we can get.
APS has several ways that they can help us do that.
APS customers can check the monthly plan comparison section on their energy bill every single month

which always feels good, makes you feel smart like you did the right thing.
Rate plan options that can help you save money are available,
including budget billing, which can help you average out your bill throughout the year
so that you do not experience those high spikes during certain times of the year,
whether it's summer here in the valley or, of course, winter for our folks up north
who might experience some of those colder temps.
So check into the rate plan options that are available.
They're all right there in blue type on your latest energy bill from APS.

Get yourself a ticket. Well, like I said, we do have the Toronto Blue Jays coming into town,
but we have an off day tomorrow.
We will be back with the 12 p.m. show.
We're going to have our girl Danielle joining us
and previewing the series with the Blue Jays.
But before we get out of here,
we got to give credit where credit is due.
And Damon, again, very busy doing his show at times.
So understandably so.
But also understandable why you wouldn't want to go back
and relive a game that the Diamondbacks were up,
seven to one at one point,
and eventually lost by a score of 9 to 7.
That's definitely one.
you flush.
But the thing you may have missed if you did not watch that game is that the 43-year-old
manager of the Baltimore Orioles Craig Alburnaz was hit in the face by a foul ball
from that criminal Jeremiah Jackson.
No, I kid.
I'm sure he feels awful about that.
But he did foul ball off during the fifth inning of that game that hit Alburnaz in, like,
the cheek and the face.
Alburnaz did not get to see the end of that game in person
because he was transported to a nearby hospital,
but he was back in the dugout the very next day for game two.
And Alburnaz sustained Damon at least seven fractures
in his right cheek and a broken jaw.
He shockingly does not need surgery,
and his jaw did not need to be wired shut,
but he is on a strict baby food diet.
And he also can't blow his nose.
knows. But I think I've, I mean, honestly, I've been present when baseballs have come screaming
in my direction, whether it's the way that they spin flipping backwards to get actually up
into the press box when we're in there or simply just being too close to the field
sometimes when they're doing batting practice and such, you can really get the feel for
how incredibly fast the exit velo is on some of those baseballs. And how. How,
Now, of course, if you're not paying attention for a simple second,
some sort of catastrophe can happen.
I'm not even suggesting that's what happened with Alburnaz
because when you're in the dugout and somebody fouls a ball in your direction,
there's not time for you to necessarily react too quickly.
But the fact that this man came out after game, came out for game two,
did his post-game press conferences, finished up this series,
even went out there to argue with the home plate umpire today over Pete Alonzo,
striking out on the timer violation,
it was just the toughest thing
I've ever seen someone do.
It really is.
And again,
Brandon Chips is absolutely right.
Once again,
he's been quite a lot today.
It says it could have been a lot worse,
glad he's okay.
That's exactly it.
In fact,
I mean,
when he was out there during game two
with an obvious mark on his cheek
from what happened,
again,
you can't say enough
about,
how crazy it is that that happened to him and this man is just back out there doing his job
the very next day. I know it's baseball. I know it's, you know, every game is important. I can
understand as a manager how you wouldn't want to miss anything. And if you were fine, I guess,
you could be right back out there. But, you know, we aren't even two months into the season.
I'm taking a day off on Friday because I need it. I'm not tough like that.
This man, no days off.
You're Mr. Reggae Rise Up.
So you...
Yeah, that's different.
It's also WrestleMania weekend.
What a freaking choice they gave me, right?
Yeah.
Go to your favorite music festival or go see the dumb thing.
The world is yours, brother.
Go with on your friends.
They made it easy this year with how expensive
WrestleMania is.
Plus, at one point, they decided to make it
so that no Las Vegas bars or hotels could show the event as a watch party.
And that's what really sealed the deal for me.
But nonetheless,
wrestlers are tough
Craig Albernaz
much tougher than them
I will say that after seeing this man
get hit in the face with the baseball
so kudos to the Orioles
they are a tough team
they played this team
this Diamondbacks team tough
but that's what makes it so much more
impressive that they were able to
win two out of three games here
on this final series
of their road trip
and somehow win all three
road series against the Mets
the Phillies and the Orioles
definitely didn't have that one factored in to my win-loss total for sure.
So hopefully they can keep hot, keep this roll going when they take on the Blue Jays starting on Friday.
We'll be back tomorrow with another 12 p.m. show, so make sure to join us for that.
We are definitely digging in to this Kremelie scandal that apparently has happened and was a huge, fraudulent company.
I cannot wait to talk.
You know, I love to talk ice cream and fraud.
two of my favorite topics. But of course, until then, you can follow us on social media.
I'm at cap underscore caveman with a K. Damon is at Damon Dog with a D-A-W-G at the end. And as always,

Del Castillo is hitting bombs in the 10th inning.
