Starting point is 00:00:00 The snakes, bats got hot at the right time. And even though they had a huge lead, the bullpen made this one unnecessarily close. This has been a big week around here. by the way, Spirit Week still rolling on here at All City and PHNX, of course. Big shout out to Big Brothers and Big Sisters. This is what it is all about. We've been having fun with our mystery guests and our host swap, everything we've been doing. I talked Rising yesterday.
Starting point is 00:01:28 I've known nothing about the Phoenix Rising at all. I didn't even know where they were currently located at playing games. But hey, Max got me caught up and it's been a great time. But it's all been in the name of a good cause, of course, as part of all city. Spirit Week. We're teaming up with Big Brother, Big Sisters of America, an incredible group creating life-changing mentorship opportunities for kids across this country. We've set a goal. We did set a goal of $10,000 and you guys helped us smash right through that goal. So we are going on. Of course, we are trying our best to see how much money we can raise for this wonderful
Starting point is 00:02:00 cause. So thank you so much for your help. With your continued help, we can now try to beat some of the other cities in all city because we are very competitive around here. We are extremely competitive. It gets weird around lunchtime on who gets to use the microwave. But you can donate using the link in the description. And if you want to make an even bigger impact, you can also sign up for being big by visiting
Starting point is 00:02:22 bbbs.org slash all city. It's something wonderful. Let's do something meaningful together this week. We already have. And again, thank you guys so much for your help. But Diamondbacks win this one. Of course, this is a great way to cap off Big Brother, Big Sister Day here at All City
Starting point is 00:02:38 at PHNX. It's a great way for the Diamondbacks to avoid getting swept here in the series finale. Diamondbacks win this one by a score of 9 to 5. They improve back up to 500. And Damon, you know what to do. Send my little man up the mountain right now. Let's go, Gatel. Did I say Gatel?
Starting point is 00:02:58 Let's go, Dome. Catelle was our old one. Domo's our new one. Maybe we should have left Cattel. I don't know. But Domo is in the Serpientis purple. It's so fetching there. Diamondbacks again improved back to 500.
Starting point is 00:03:13 They scored more runs today than they scored in their last three losses combined. Nine runs today, seven runs over the last three days. And despite being up nine to one at one point, the bullpen still made this one unnecessarily close. In fact, one Damon Dogg, he's pulling double triple duties around here today. He was doing the U of A podcast. And all he wanted to know was what happened in the short amount of time of him not watching the baseball game. How did it go from 9 to 1 to 9 to 5? At first I said, what was the final score, Derek?
Starting point is 00:03:44 And you said 9 to 5. And I went, nice. And then I went, wait, how? What the hell happened? The bullpen happened. You know that, Damon. That's exactly what happened. It's what's been happening to this team all year long.
Starting point is 00:03:56 But luckily today, the bats were hot. And the bats did it once again. It's not sustainable. But hey, at least having really good offense can help you win games like this by a score of 9 to 5. of course gino the big star today after josh nailer singled to lead off the second inning gino hit his 22nd home run of the season to give the snakes an early two to nothing lead and damon regrettably i think you know what to do here in regards to uh that fact that gino is now at 22 home runs i hate him i hate the look of his stupid little face down there look at look at look at how bad i'm going to look in teal bearded face stupid teal his stupid teal bearded face stupid teal he's stupid teal he'll bearded face. But yeah, man, Gino's been incredible.
Starting point is 00:04:40 He was on fire in this game, absolutely on fire. In the top of the third with two on two outs, Gino delivered once again with another big hit, a two RBI double. That pushed the Diamondbacks lead at the time to four to one. His four RBI was tied for the most in a game in his career through the first three innings today.
Starting point is 00:04:59 And so far, his 22 home runs and his 62 RBI puts him in a special category. He is one of four MLB. players with 20 plus homers and 60 plus RBI joining Aaron Judge, Cal Rally, and Pete Crow Armstrong, who I know my guys over at CHGO, are absolutely worshipping these days. Those boys can't get enough of PCA. They should make you sick. He makes me sick.
Starting point is 00:05:25 He's a very good baseball player. And I knew he was going to be better than he was, like for the stretch to last year, I think, when he kind of came back down to earth. But my God, he's been very good. Gino also has been very good. Those 62 RBI. He currently sits second in RBI behind one Pete Alonzo of the New York Mets and Gino's numbers this year. Just not outstanding, but getting much better.
Starting point is 00:05:51 I know for a stretch there he struggled, but now he's slashing 237, 313, not a great on base percentage, but 533. Outstanding slugging percentage for an 846 OPS this season. So Gino continues to stay hot. And Ryan H, he's craving some pavin. We gave him some pavin. Gave him some pavin today. Gave in some paving in the fifth inning with Cadell on base. Pavin Smith goes yard for his sixth home run of the year.
Starting point is 00:06:18 And yeah, like Pavin Smith is kind of wild. He's kind of an anomaly because he does, as we've said around here, he tends to pay that past due rent at times, right? When you start thinking that Paveen Smith is not doing well. he's uncanny. And you start tweeting it out and you start tweeting out freezing cold frosty takes from your Twitter account. And then Pavin Smith hits a home run just to spite you. Damon, comments on this?
Starting point is 00:06:45 What did you, can you relate to what I'm saying? Damon, do you understand like where I'm getting at? I know you might not have directly done this thing that I'm talking about. But maybe you can at least relate to what I'm talking about. Yeah. Today, you know, I took some shots. Obviously, I'm a big Tori Lovolo guy. Everybody knows that.
Starting point is 00:07:02 Everybody knows I love Tori. The one thing that I most disagree with Tori on is things like batting Paven Smith third in the lineup after he's been struggling for the better part of, I don't know, what has it been a month, a month and a half? Yeah. And what does he do when I tweet, I need Paven Smith gone yesterday. He hits a two run home run to kind of, you know, put a knot on this one. So one for two, home run. Some people might say that it was a nice little warm up to our later. frosty cold take but
Starting point is 00:07:33 maybe not as frosty as that one but or maybe a cool down maybe a cool down to a frosty take two walks for Pavin today and again just a great performance all around for the Diamondbacks offensively Cate just seemed to be on base every time you turned around
Starting point is 00:07:48 Catell was three for five today two runs scored he had an RBI and Catell once again you talk about his numbers this year Cotel's currently slashing 291 408 541 for a 9. 49 OPS. The offense again got the job done today. And it's it's it's a blessing and a curse, right? It's the reason why the diamondbacks are at 500. Their offense continues to be outstanding. And guys like Gino are a big reason why the diamondbacks keep doing it, right? You look at Gino's numbers. You look at the company he is currently keeping in regards to those other players in major league baseball that he's in that, you know, I guess a fairly elite, club with right now, but it's the offense right now is getting it done. Corby and Carroll was off today
Starting point is 00:08:37 after getting hit on the hand yesterday. X-rays were negative, but they just gave him the day off. Hopefully Corbyn has no lasting effects from that because you feel like with the need of the offense staying so hot, Damon, you feel like you can't even lose one guy. We're going to get into how concerned I got after two pitches about Ryan Nelson, but our depth is gone and that's what it feels like. And our depth is obviously gone with pitching with the way that the diamondbacks have had to go out and acquire guys like Anthony Disclafini who had an absolutely terrible outing today and we will also get to that. But you just feel like even the offense right now can't afford to lose a Corbyn Carroll or a Cote for extended period of time without this team sinking without them. I mean, today they actually did really good without Corbyn being out there. But it feels like a rare occasion for that to happen.
Starting point is 00:09:29 Yeah, absolutely. I mean, I think we've talked about it a lot on this show, like the buy versus sell debate, right, as you fix and give Jesse Jr. a nice little kiss on the cheek. But, you know, this is a situation where the defense, or the defense, I should say, the pitching in particular, is not going to be a playoff caliber pitching rotation, at least until we get to around deadline time. And if you want to gain that MLB caliber pitching, that good playoff caliber pitching by that time, you need this lineup to carry you for the rest of the season until that trade deadline shows up. So, you know, I think that that being said, like losing Corby and Carole Catelle-Perdomo,
Starting point is 00:10:11 knock on wood, any of guys like that is going to be completely debilitating to this team. Because the offense has to be a top five offense in baseball for this team to remain competitive and have the option of buying at the deadline. You're 100% correct. And that's it's unfortunate. because it's a difficult position to be in, you can't really bank on your offense always being the thing that carries you.
Starting point is 00:10:36 Now, with that being said, the diamond backs still have pieces that could carry them on the pitching side, right? Zach Allen and Merrill Kelly, we know what they're capable of. And we know what they can do on any given night. It's just a matter of consistency right now. And the pressure is on those guys.
Starting point is 00:10:52 The pressure is very much on them. Like, you essentially, it has to be the 20, 23 diamondbacks where every time Merrill Kelly and Zach Gallen go out there, you got to be like, we're winning this baseball game. Because we don't know what we're getting out of. Eduardo Rodriguez or Brandon fought on any given night, given the way that they've been pitching recently. Now, I know the team might not think of it this way,
Starting point is 00:11:10 but you and I have discussed this. We talked about it yesterday. Bo and Johnny covered it on their daily. Daily, every single day. Those guys love ball. They talk about snakes ball all the time. But they covered it as well. And that is this 10-game stretch,
Starting point is 00:11:25 starting today, quite frankly, because after the embarrassment that was game two of the series, you can't help but look at this as a 10-game stretch that defines the Diamondback season at this point, right? It might be a little over-dramatic. They might not view it this way. They might not want to put the pressure on themselves like that. They might do what they are indeed saying that they do
Starting point is 00:11:45 and just taking it one game at a time. It's hard not to look at this 10-game stretch, including today's win and seeing how vital it is to the continuation, if you will of the Diamondback season, right? After this 10-game stretch, I mean, you could probably even say 13 games, including those three games that they have against the Giants. There will be some decisions being made. And Mike Hazen and his front office will start leaning at that point one direction or another.
Starting point is 00:12:14 Then you have the All-Star break. Then you come out of the All-Star break. And there's a very short period of time, essentially less than two weeks between then and the end of the trade deadline. So there's not a lot of room left for mistakes. There's not a lot of room left to make a good impression. And there's not a lot of room to prove to the front office that you are one of the best teams in baseball and can compete like one of the best teams in baseball. A lot of their shortcomings are due to these losses for the season and beyond.
Starting point is 00:12:43 And that's kind of the most heart-wrenching part about this is these losses this year, unlike the losses last year, don't have that optimism of those guys are coming back. We're going to get Merrill Kelly back. We're going to get Eduardo Rodriguez back. We're going to get Perdomo back. We're going to get Catell back. We kind of had that going on throughout the season last year. This is different. The devastating losses won after the next.
Starting point is 00:13:05 It started with Blake Walston, Jordan Montgomery, Corbyn Burns, Justin Martinez, potentially A.J. Puck. You feel like it's just one devastating loss after the next that's going to result in season-ending surgery and not just season-ending surgery, season altering surgery for next year because we have no idea when these guys are going to return from such a lengthy recovery process from Tommy John surgery. So as far as this team goes, this 10-game stretch is extremely important and they at least started it off on the right foot today with a win.
Starting point is 00:13:39 And the reason why they won, a big reason why they won today is one Eheueneos-Wares, who is our King Snake in today's game. Gino was brilliant today. He went three for five with a home run, a double. He had four RBI. He had all of the Diamondbacks RBI early on, and he was a big reason why they got that big lead, which did get kind of chewed into there late by the Toronto Blue Jays. And I think, yes, part of it is a little PTSD,
Starting point is 00:14:10 but we also saw this Blue Jays team just steal a game from the Diamondbacks on Monday. And quite frankly, after today's win, the Diamondbacks should have won the series. series in Toronto. Game two was a disaster and you cannot say at any point that the Diamondbacks really had that one in hand, but they did have a lead. So, you know, again, the Diamondbacks here in this one definitely sealed the deal, but it got way too close. And we're going to talk about the pitching in the bullpen on the other side of this break. So don't you guys go anywhere? You're watching the PHNX Diamondback show.
Starting point is 00:14:46 Well, we have a lot of bets going on around here today, especially with all the money we're raising and people are welching on the bet. So don't like that. Don't like that. I mean, Derek, yesterday I bet the ASU guys that they were going to have to wear a U of A shirts. I didn't see a single one of them in a U of A shirt. No, not a single one of them. But you know what you could have done is you could have hopped on Vimee.
Starting point is 00:15:06 And VMEE would have helped you out because VMEE is the betting app for person to person betting its first of its kind. And it allows you to settle bets like this. Have people essentially opt in so there's no getting out of it. And it doesn't have to be for money. You can bet on anything. Wagers can be for money or for free. You can throw a description in there and say,
Starting point is 00:15:26 loser has to wear the winner's shirts. We had the situation with PHLY too. They were supposed to wear Diamondback shirts after we beat them in the 2023 postseason. They also did not do that. So make sure people get in on it, sign the contract. You can do one v one. You can do group challenges.
Starting point is 00:15:43 It's great for fantasy sports. It's great for so much. You can bet on sports, video games, fantasy sports, golf games, poker nights, and so much more. great way to get everybody to opt in. No more chasing cash. You don't trust the Venmo guy. You don't have to trust the Venmo guy anymore. No more. I'll pay you later's. No more so are losers. So get down on Vimee. And of course, we need to do that more around here to make sure these cowards all lock themselves in. So download the VMEE app today and play. Available on the app store and Google Play. Vime. Anything anyone. Excuse me, anyone, anything anytime. Vee me. Also, we were talking, you guys were talking on the U of A show about how amazing branded bills is. It's a local company from right here in Mesa, Arizona, but their hats are everywhere. Their hats are everywhere.
Starting point is 00:16:29 I've traveled and I've seen their hats in Las Vegas. I've seen their hats in California. I've seen them all over the place and that's because branded bills has some incredible hats with a strong logo game and just absolutely comfortable, more comfortable than most hats. If you're looking for some gear to make your brand stand apart, look to branded bills, they have you covered with the best custom headware. You can start your order and their dedicated team will help you create the exact custom apparel you need, whether you need snapbacks, truckers, fitted, beanie. It doesn't
Starting point is 00:16:55 matter what type of hat they have you covered. And they had partnerships with ASU, U of A, the Sons, and more. So if you are just a hat aficionado, you can look to their collection and go out and get yourself some wonderful hats from their, excuse me, from their website. So head to brandabills.com and use code BBPHNX for 15% off your order. That's BBPHNX for 15% off. Well, Ryan Nelson went out there and did his thing today. Ryan Nelson was absolutely. brilliant on the mound once again for the ears on the diamond backs if if his fastball is working then then brian nelson is working and he uh his fastball was definitely working today but he did give us all a scare uh we were so worried early on there right after he threw got his first out
Starting point is 00:17:40 he threw two pitches uh there was a situation you people watching might have better insight than we did because the uh sound was off here in the office but apparently uh they just had to go out and check on Ryan. Something wasn't right. Luckily, it was nothing that resulted in him not being able to stay in the game. And if he didn't stay in the game, I don't know what the Diamondbacks would have done. This would have been an outright catastrophe for them if Ryan Nelson wasn't able to pitch in this one for some reason. And it once again just proved to me with my heart stopping, my heart racing, how flimsy the Diamondbacks depth truly is right now at this point. But luckily, that wasn't the case. Nelson settled in and he shoved against Toronto. Candice in the chat says he looks so happy when Tori was talking to him after he got off the mound. Yeah, I think I don't know what that old thing was about, but it definitely seemed like maybe it was just a quick hitch. I don't know, but that was something specifically worrisome. But it was great to see his big smile and him stay on the mound. And his fastball was on fire early, including that.
Starting point is 00:18:50 big strikeout of Vladi Jr. there in the first where he just threw him some gas high up in the zone. His fastball was on point today and he used it a lot. And you know what? When you are, when you're throwing 97 miles per hour, you can throw that fastball a lot. He threw it all over the place. Let's take a look at his pitch chart because he definitely didn't, he didn't throw a lot of pitches today. Didn't throw a lot of big mix. But he threw that fastball and he threw it everywhere. What's wild is some of those, as you see, some of those pitches that landed high up in the strike zone, they just had a rise on them. You know, the fact that they were able to elevate in the strike zone made those pitches
Starting point is 00:19:34 far more competitive than they even look on this pitch chart. But Nelson, Nelson was locked in. He threw his fastball 65% of the time. He maxed out at 97.3 miles per hour, and he averaged 95.6. It's wild the simplicity to Ryan Nelson's game sometime. Obviously, it makes all the sense in the world, considering that his secondary pitches aren't that good, that he relies so heavily on that fastball. But it is such a good fastball. And again, his command with it really is what makes it that good.
Starting point is 00:20:05 Touching 97 definitely hurts, helps in this situation. Doesn't hurt. Definitely helps. But it's the fact that he can throw 97 with such command. And again, you know, today was one of those days that he. did get cut a little short. Sean in the comment said, is it going to be 80 to 85 pitchers all year for Ryan or will Tori extend his leash? Tori will absolutely extend his leash, but he's going to be careful with Ryan, obviously because of the depth issues that I just said. Ryan right now is incredibly important to this team.
Starting point is 00:20:35 And the Diamondbacks have kind of been wishy-washy with him this year. He's done everything they've asked of him. But getting stretched out, then going back to doing a reduced roll out of the bullpen, and then getting stretched back out again, it's dangerous as far as Nelson's health is concerned. They want to make sure Nellie doesn't get hurt because if he does, you might as well just go ahead and put a four sale sign on this property that is the Arizona of Diamondbacks right now. Their season is toast. Nelson, in fact, is the only reason right now that I think people should have hope, quite frankly. Erod, though, Erod also has been very good since he's returned from, you know, the IL. And we've said it before, but the season does kind of hang on these two guys.
Starting point is 00:21:21 we know what the other three in the starting rotation can do even if they're not doing it consistently. It's more about what are they going to get out of Erod? Where are they going to get out of Nellie? And today they got another incredible performance from Nellie. His only blemish was a solo home run allowed to Alejandro Kirk in the second inning. But Nellie went out there and did his thing. Five and two thirds innings pitched.
Starting point is 00:21:41 He allowed that one hit, one earned run. He walked two and he struck out four. So a big strikeout, not a huge strikeout day for Nellie, despite the fact that his, his curve ball or excuse me his fastball was working so well but still four strikeouts there on the strikeout meter and the bullpen once he handed it over to them seemed like things were going to be fairly easy the diamond backs had a nine to one lead at that point and it was uh kind of look look like it was going to be a cakewalk but as you know nothing can be easy with this team nothing can be easy with this bullpen uh morillo went out there did a third inning of work got ryan out of the rest of
Starting point is 00:22:18 of that uh sixth inning and it was fine Nothing of note, but I'm learning. Anthony Disgolfini, his name is, his nickname is Disco, I learned today. And there was definitely panic at the disco when he was out there on this particular day. This man was terrible. And I don't understand how the Diamondbacks go out there and continue to find guys. We have an uncanny ability to have a horrific bullpen, Derek. No one does it like this team.
Starting point is 00:22:49 It's amazing. And I think honestly, like I understand trying to go out there and find guys, right? Like I understand trying to find arms that can help you. And no discredit to this man because I understand what they were going for here. But there was a point where I was ready to start tweeting out Fire Tori if he didn't pull this man out of the game. I was really ready to get on the Fire Tori train because we watched a lead dwindle away. and even though the Blue Jays never technically got close, never got close to actually winning this game,
Starting point is 00:23:23 it felt like it was trending in a disastrous situation. And Disco was not good today. He allowed two solo home runs and four runs total to score. In two innings of work, he gave up five hits, four runs, three of them earned. One of them was because of a terrible throw by Lordus Gurriel Jr. He did not walk anyone and he struck out one. So, yeah, this is, Sean says it best right there.
Starting point is 00:23:48 You literally can't stop watching this team up or down in a game. And that's at least, hey, at least as far as viewership numbers are concerned, that's great, right? But as far as our blood pressure, our sanity, our anxiety levels, not great for that. Not great for that. But the Diamondbacks did seal the deal. Of course, they had to, I felt like they had to bring in Shelby Miller, despite the fact that they had a four-run lead to close the door. And Shelby was excellent, of course, because for, some reason he's always excellent when it's not an actual save opportunity he goes out there
Starting point is 00:24:21 strikes out two in his inning of work um but i get it i mean you want shelby in that closer mindset there's not it would not appear that there is going to be anybody to come save the diamondbacks from their closed situation or their safe closer situation unless they make a move here before the trade deadline and you know there's some good options out there we talked about uh Kyle Finn again hasn't been great lately but maybe that changed his price a little bit also david bednar is another name that a lot of people are talking about in regards to the dimebacks with how terrible uh is he's is he still on the pirates is it the is a terrible pirates team you know i don't know how good he's been even really recently let me look up his stats real quick i know he has a one in
Starting point is 00:25:06 five record right now which means that he's blown a couple saves a three three eight er a though is not you know he'd be the second best pitcher on our bullpen instance Yeah. And honestly, I mean, Shelby Miller's been outstanding, but, you know, the Diamondbacks need somebody that can close. And even, even that one in five record, even that unreliability, I think a lot of it would still be welcomed here. And he fits right in, right? Four blown saves or however many blown saves, he sounds like a Diamondback already. But they do need some help in the bullpen. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Diamondbacks part ways with Discliffeini here soon. but maybe they don't based on the way that they just need arms. So they are they are trying though. They are trying to go out there and add names. And one name in particular that I like that I saw is now available because he opt out of his deal. Hold on one second.
Starting point is 00:26:03 Is Richard Love Lady? Oh, yeah. Yeah? So I know there's a lot of people that are kind of, kind of drooling over him just a bit. And again, he did not. He's not at a good season, not at a good season at all. In fact, with the Toronto Blue Jays, he had a 21.60 ERA in two starts or two games, two appearances. So.
Starting point is 00:26:27 He fit right in as well. Yeah, it sounds like you're right. Regarding David Bednar, he has 10 save opportunities and 10 saves. So he actually hasn't blown a save, I guess, technically. But he does have a 1 in 5 record. So I guess in Thai baseball games, he goes out there and lose. uses the lead every time, but if he gets to save opportunities, he's money. He's the anti-bullpen guy, right?
Starting point is 00:26:50 Like, that's the opposite. I mean, yeah, I mean, we, we have guys that can keep it tied, but we just can't have guys that close it when we have a lead. So maybe he's the right one. Maybe he's the right man for the job. But we have more to discuss in regards to this series. We're going to talk about the numbers from the series. We're also going to talk about the NL West.
Starting point is 00:27:08 And, of course, neither of those things are things I'm super excited to do, but we're going to do it anyway on the other side. of this break. Don't you go anywhere. You're watching the PHNX Diamondback show. When we've talked about pure edibles and the usage of pure edibles, so today would be just an uplifting day, right? Like maybe we don't need to be uplifted because the Diamondbacks won, but hey, let's keep the party going with a nice uplifting setiva. It doesn't matter what you are looking for. Pure Edibles has you covered and they have those effects clearly listed on each 10 so there's no surprises at all. You can also tear or rip your pieces to dial in an exact
Starting point is 00:27:44 dosage or to share and they are a full-fledged candy company not just gummies but you can also get choose their kicks which are like starbursts and their hard candies as well all of those available in different doses and strains so check them out they are available at one of over 130 dispensaries right here in the state and they're a wonderful way for you to again change your mood make your mood better and they are a local company from right here in flagstaff arizona at noble dispensary the home of pure edibles now they are created right here in phoenix arizona so give them a try go find yourself some pure edible products from one of over 130 dispensaries across the state of Arizona. Speaking of the state, you know how hot it is today. Today's in an insane day. What is it? Like 115 degrees today?
Starting point is 00:28:26 118 degrees. It doesn't matter. It's hot. It's horrible. And we're all hiding inside. And of course, that involves air conditioning. I'm sure you know this, but more than half of your cost of your electric bill comes from heating and cooling your home. And APS wants to help their customers save with a smart thermostat. If you have not up, it to a smart thermostat it's like you still have a clamshell phone i don't know what to tell you go out there and upgrade to a smart thermostat they are wonderful that you can set you know you can obviously set parameters for heating and cooling on a smart thermostat you can set a schedule and most importantly you can control it from your smartphone device and it's best thing to do like i said that way i can you know not run my air conditioning at full blast when i'm not home but i can turn that sucker down
Starting point is 00:29:11 when I'm getting ready to head home. It's nice and cool when I walk in the front door. If you're on an APS time of use plan, you can, again, use your smartphone or device to automatically adjust that thermostat. And APS customers may be eligible for smart thermostats for up to $0, as low as $0 when you enroll in the APS Cool Rewards program. If you're not sure how to install a smart thermostat, free installation is available at APS Marketplace. Must be an APS customer in pay shipping and taxes. Other restrictions apply.
Starting point is 00:29:52 Go to Marketplace.org.com for more information. All right. Well, this series was a wild one. And again, I don't want to have like a revisionist kind of situation. But if the Diamondbacks don't blow that game in the bottom of the ninth on Monday, we are in a much better mood about this series. We were talking about a series win over a very good AL-E's team. D-backs were that close to doing that thing. But, of course, let's take a look at the numbers for the entire series presented by our friends at Desert Financial Credit Union.
Starting point is 00:30:24 The Blue Jays outscored the Diamondbacks in this series 18 to 14. They out hit the Diamondbacks at home runs 7 to 2. Diamondbacks, two home runs came today. Meanwhile, the Blue Jays peppered them throughout the series. Interesting runner-in-scoring position situation. Both teams were successfully scored or successfully hit with runners in scoring positions six times. The Diamondbacks were six for 26. The Blue Jays were six for 18.
Starting point is 00:30:50 Starting pitching ERA, very good for the Diamondbacks in this series. They had a 2.40 starting pitching ERA. The Diamondbacks allowed two earned runs in game one, one earned run by Erod yesterday, and then one earned run today by Ryan Nelson. Meanwhile, the Toronto Blue Jays starting pitching ERA, ballooned a bit today with the seven earned runs allowed by Gaussman, which was kind of a surprise there. They're starting pitching ERA 6.46. Meanwhile, the relief pitching ERA as bad as it should be for the Diamondbacks considering what happened to them in the series.
Starting point is 00:31:25 Diamondbacks had a 10.80 relief pitching ERA in the series, 2.31 relief pitching ERA for the Blue Jays. Diamondbacks could not do much against their pen in the series, which again is a little bit of a surprise, considering that they did get their offense rolling at one point. And in both of these games, they were able to score, at least both of the games that they were in, I'm not counting, not counting yesterday's game. But both of these games they were in, they were able to get the scoring done early. It was just a matter of keeping it going late against the Toronto Blue Jays bullpen. And they did an excellent job at holding the Diamondbacks.
Starting point is 00:32:00 Where do they stand in the drunken orgy of violence known as the NL. West? Let's take a look at our updated standings here. Diamondbacks are still eight and a half games behind the Dodgers at 37 and 37. The Padres sit six games behind the Dodgers at 39 and 34. The Giants, four games back, despite the fact that it felt like just yesterday, they had a share of the NL West lead. They sit at 42 and 33. They are four games back.
Starting point is 00:32:26 And the Dodgers seem to be kind of starting to run away with it here a little bit at 46 and 29. Nauseating. It's sickening. But again, it's kind of like we discussed, which allowed Damon to. to once again, I guess, expose me as a hidden Dodger fan. Well, it's your favorite thing. Yeah, great. Don't.
Starting point is 00:32:44 You love telling everybody that we need to root for the Dodgers. I do. I really do. I'm just saying, when the Dodgers play the Giants and the Dodgers play the Padres at this point as a group, I think we should all agree that we are rooting for the Dodgers. Maybe rooting. Rooting.
Starting point is 00:32:59 Routing's the bad word. See, maybe you say rooting. That's, and that's the problem. That is the problem. It's almost as if you're happy to do it. It's the problem is not. Derek, that you sensibly want to make the playoffs as a Diamondbacks fan. Right, right, right.
Starting point is 00:33:11 I get what you're saying. Right, right, right. The problem is how much energy you derive towards being like, guess we got a root for the Dodgers guys. I guess I'll pull out my L.A. hat that I just so happened to bring with me today to wear in the office. I mean, that's more the issue, Derek. But that being said, I will say the Giants, you know, we were talking about them post
Starting point is 00:33:35 Rafi Devers trade, how we were hoping that they never won a game again. Yeah. That was what broke the straw that broke the Campbell's back in terms of team chemistry, much like it did in Boston. They unfortunately snapped their losing streak, their four-game losing streak today against the Guardians in a two-one victory right in the middle of the show. But, you know, they're not playing good baseball right now. The Padres, same thing.
Starting point is 00:34:00 It does feel like that this is the portion of the season where the Dodgers just go on like an 11 game win streak and the division is locked up before the all-star break and then everybody's like baseball doesn't have a problem devours by the way one for three with a walk and a strikeout that one hit was a single man imagine having that guy on your team imagine imagine imagine imagine the future on that guy imagine yikes imagine maybe maybe boston knew something that we don't know i don't know but uh yeah no and then there's the rockies by the way who the Diamondbacks take on next. And we are going to preview that series tomorrow with our 12 p.m. show.
Starting point is 00:34:42 However, I can't lie, Damon. I have my concerns. I have my concerns because, of course, just like when we faced the stupid Cardinals when they were on their best, playing their best baseball on their hottest winning streak of the year, the Rockies, they were on a winning streak. They just lost. The Rockies are five and five in their last 10, Derek.
Starting point is 00:35:02 That might as well be like the Oakland. is 27 game win street. Do you have to ungray them on the chart? I don't know what we didn't gray them. We just put infinity as far as games back, but we might as well grade them out. And maybe maybe that's what's making them angry. They are 17 and 58.
Starting point is 00:35:20 Oh, God. I just couldn't imagine covering that team. I want to give a shout out to our guys over there at the NVR that do cover that team because to be fair, they do an excellent job. They do an excellent job. Sean in the chat. There was a lot of talk about,
Starting point is 00:35:33 Dodger Derek Derek the Dodger Ryan says Mayor of Dodger Town Jay Cuddy says L.A. Montia but Sean brought the best one. He just said Derek Monti L.A., which is how my name's already spelled. So yeah, that's that's solid. It almost hurts how much joy you get out of it. It's it's just delightful because to me, I've told the story on this program,
Starting point is 00:35:59 but before I even cared about baseball, I hated the Dodgers. The Dodgers were my first team I hated. It had nothing to do with their performance on the field or being in the same division as a baseball team that I loved. And it had everything to do with them snuffing us on coming out to sign autographed baseballs after they lost to the Montreal Expos on a Sunday game. That's absolutely classic, Derek. I'm sure their guys were like illegally gambling on baseball or something. They probably was.
Starting point is 00:36:28 They probably was. But luckily the Montreal Expos came out and they signed our baseballs. and was a fan of that franchise. That's an organization with some class. Until it folded. Yeah, for sure. But we got Randy Johnson eventually from them. So it's like that's how my love,
Starting point is 00:36:42 my connection for this team grew as a small child. But yeah, anyway, this one, good win for the Diamondbacks. Like I said, we're going to preview this stretch. We're going to talk about the Rocky series tomorrow. But 1 and 0 in this 10 game stretch, right? Now they have nine games against teams. I'm not even going to say that they should beat. I'm just going to say they have nine games that are winnable ahead of them.
Starting point is 00:37:06 And if they don't win six of them, there's a good chance at that point that the Diamondbacks front office might understandably so start wrapping it up, right? And start taking those phone calls on players that teams are going to be calling them about. But they can change that. They can do that by playing good baseball and making it as hard as possible on Mike Hazen for him to change his position from being a buyer to a seller. And I still, I've listened to that Mike Hazen interview so many times now. And I still don't really feel like there was a lot of confidence in what he said. I feel like Mike Hazen just said what, what he wants to do. But it doesn't mean that as a GM in baseball, you're not going to make the tough decision that you have to,
Starting point is 00:37:49 should this team not live up to the expectations or make you not believe that they can be competitive in the postseason when that time comes around. And to compound on top of that, Derek, like, you know, Mike Hazen is, you know, is, you know, it would be, it would be a malpractice for his position to, you know, be like, oh, we're, you know, we're not really trying that hard or to say like, we're going to buy. No matter what. Yeah, I feel like when you say like, you know, oh, we're going to be buyers, you almost up the, the ante for what teams have to offer you as a seller. Sure.
Starting point is 00:38:22 Whereas you're leveraging it a little bit. Where you're like, what are you talking about? We're a competitive baseball team. Yeah. In order to get rid of Gino Smith, I mean, that would. take a lot. You have the offer is a lot. You have the top three prospects, I think, because
Starting point is 00:38:36 you know, we're trying to win over here in Arizona. So I feel like it's a little bit of posturing. But that being said, like I do think that he ideally, him and Tori want to buy. No, you're absolutely right. And not only that, but he's very good at this. He's very good at what he does. We've talked about it with this Diamondbacks team in general. And Mike,
Starting point is 00:38:53 Mike's made it clear, right? Mike has sat before us in the media when we were asking about guys they missed out on. or if they were in on a player or whatever. And he's basically said, like, what, like, what does that do for me? What does that do for the franchise for me to tell you that we were in on free agent X or free agent Y? And we missed out on them. All it makes it sound like at the end of the day was that you, you weren't a desirable landing location for that player. Or you didn't bring enough to the table in negotiation to try to lure them away from whoever inevitably landed them, right?
Starting point is 00:39:28 the diamondbacks play their cards very close to their vest and that's the reason why when they landed Corbin for instance Corbin Burns that ended up being a surprise to so many people and it's because at no point where the Diamondbacks one of the teams rumored to be in on Corbin Burns maybe they were the whole time maybe he really did fall in their lap based on his desired Olivia in Arizona but either way that nobody knew the Diamondbacks were in on Corbin Burns until he was a member of this team.
Starting point is 00:40:00 So, uh, Hazen does an excellent job with, with all of that stuff that you're talking about. And I think he does have a good understanding about what he says in the media and how it's going to impact everything he does, negotiations, what other GMs think about this team. I think you're dead on with that. Like there's no, there's no, I guess, no point to coming out in an interview and being like, well, yeah, maybe we'll be sellers. Like it's discouraging to the fan base. It's discouraging to the players.
Starting point is 00:40:25 And again, it makes it sound like you're desperate to get rid of guys. guys like my phone my phone lines open yep give me it shoot me a call you guys got my number here i'm waiting right now for your call you know so uh but again uh mike does not deliver frosty takes however another legend in the diamondbacks organization may have may have delivered a very frosty take to me personally when we were talking to him about uh his his picture taken so we're going to talk about that on the other side of this break don't you go anywhere you're watching the phnx diamond back show well game time is the place for you to get last minute tickets. Like last night when my friends were all out at Wu Tang and they
Starting point is 00:41:05 were all sending me pictures and I got that FOMO. And despite the fact that I told Damon that there was no way I was going to Wu tank. I was about to walk across the street and go to Wu tank. And I would have done it through Game Time because Game Time is the place to buy tickets, uh, it's saved on tickets, up to 60% off by buying them last minute. And it is for procrastinators like me and people who claim they're not going to go to events, but then cannot stand the idea of missing out an event once that day comes around. And I got my wonderful Carmel Frosty sitting here right next to me. I've been thinking about it this whole time.
Starting point is 00:42:27 it was hard for me to concentrate on this show. Because as much as I love the classic Frosties, right now over at Wendy's Frosty Shop, you can get yourself a wonderful mix of Frosties, including their Frosty Fusions and their Frosty Swirl. The Frosty Swirlirl comes with a delightful swirl of things like brownie batter, strawberry and caramel, whether you're a strawberry swirl girl or a brownie batter batty.
Starting point is 00:42:50 Like me. Like I'm a brownie batter batty. And I'm a Swarrow girl. You're a swirl girl for sure. But they also have you, covered with their thoroughly blended and mixed frosty fusions, which come with all sorts of ingredients inside. You got Oreo brownie.
Starting point is 00:43:05 You got Carmel Crunch and you got Pop-Tart Strawberry. So check out the wonderful variety of delicious, delicious, tasty ice cream treats, especially on this hot, hot day over at Wendy's. Whatever flavor you're craving, odds are Wendy's has a frosty for it. So clock in for a sweet treat anytime, including midnight or later, with Wendy's all-new frosty flavors. A refresh on a classic? It's got to be Wendy's.
Starting point is 00:43:26 at participating in U.S. Wendy's. Hours may vary by location, and I'm going to dig in to my frosty right now. The reason why, Damon, is because we have some frosty takes to address. Now, we've given our frosty takes. You've had a frosty take? I've had a frosty take. We know we've all had lots of frosty takes on this program, Damon. But it's not every day that we get a chance to have a frosty take from a legend.
Starting point is 00:43:50 And this is not a man I would ever want to dunk on in person. So don't tell him I did this. Don't tell him I said this. Don't tell him we did this at all. But we may have a frosty take from not too long ago from one of the greatest legends in the franchise history, the one, the only Randy Johnson. Damon, roll that beautiful bean footage. And I've seen the growth of a lot of young pitchers here.
Starting point is 00:44:14 And I think this is a great, probably the best pitching rotation that they've had in the history of the Diamondbacks from top to bottom. Mm-hmm. Do you still think that, Randall? Huh? I don't know if that's so. I don't know if that's the case anymore. I don't think that Dynamics have the best pitching rotation in franchise history.
Starting point is 00:44:39 Uh, no. Jay Cuddy says Derek Cates Randy Johnson. Um, not the case at all. In fact, I love Randy Johnson a lot. I hate how wrong he was and I don't think it was his fault. Obviously, we knew the talent was there. nothing Randy Johnson said
Starting point is 00:44:59 it was there was incorrect but what ends up happening is injuries and I mean Eduardo Rodriguez having a disappointing a couple of months there really took things downhill Zach Gallin hasn't been
Starting point is 00:45:13 Zach Gallin Brandon fought despite how good he was for the month of April had some of the worst starts we've seen from him in his career this year injuries losing Corbyn Burns everything. There's just so much about this that is
Starting point is 00:45:30 disappointing, but you could definitely say at this point, maybe Randy wasn't wrong about the way it was constructed at the time, but as of now, this is not the best starting rotation in all of baseball. No disrespect to the legend himself. He definitely knows the ball for sure. Randy definitely knows of some sort of curse or something deep down. You know what I mean? Like as we've talked about, like we had Oh, he was part of it. Yeah, we had Randy Johnson and Kurt Schilling and we'll never have good pictures.
Starting point is 00:45:59 Yeah, absolutely. He knows that. Absolutely. There was something from the time that Kim blew those saves in New York during the World Series till now, the Diamondbacks bullpen has been doomed. It's just been doomed. It's a case that should be studied by science because it transcends multiple regimes here. You know what I mean? It's not even like you could say, oh, well, you know, the GM at the time didn't really value.
Starting point is 00:46:25 No, no, it's every GM. It's every iteration. It's every generation. It's every era of the Diamondbacks seems to always have terrible relief pitching, right? We thought this year was going to be different. Obviously, it's not. We thought the starting pitcher, starting rotation was going to be much better than it is. It's not.
Starting point is 00:46:44 There's a lot of reasons why. But you can't really make excuses because, you know, even the parts that are here that have been healthy haven't really been great. and that includes Zach Gallen, that includes Brandon Fott. Merrill Kelly's been pretty great, but even he's had a couple of bad outings this year. There's not really that consistent ace that goes out there every five days and just shubs. Corbyn Burns was turning into that, and now they've lost him for at least 12 months, right? So not a lot of good here, but so Sean or Jay Cuddy said, Randy is seeing into the future.
Starting point is 00:47:17 He wasn't talking about the president. Okay, I'll give you that. I'll hold on. I'm not going to hold my breath, but I'll hold on. for maybe some better times here with the starting pitching staff. Brandon Chip says time to bring back the cemetery map, Damon, for Chasefield location. Yes, that's, that was some investigative work that Damon did that's, I think is getting more and more prevalent.
Starting point is 00:47:40 This is a great point basketball and football guy. Just as many losses with Bobrock and Johnny Venerable on the post game show as Derek and Damon in the new era of this podcast. We have, we both have one loss apiece. And yet me and you, Derek. have eight Ws. We have a lot of wins. We have a lot of wins.
Starting point is 00:47:58 You know, I was thinking about it because we made kind of a foolish promise. This could be a frosty take. We made a foolish promise that the more that you and I, or the more this team won, the war we would do shows. We would do stuff together. And then you and I both just decided to get drunk on Saturday
Starting point is 00:48:14 and try to put together a show unsuccessfully. I have no idea what you're talking about. I know you don't because you definitely were redacted out of that entire show situation, right? But there was somewhat of a postgame show that happened. And unfortunately, Damon, who is the human lucky rabbit foot of the Arizona Diamondbacks, wasn't on that show. The Diamondbacks went on to lose three straight games. Now, I'm not blaming it on Damon.
Starting point is 00:48:38 I'm not saying it's Damon's fault. You wouldn't want to do that to your good luck charm. You would want to tell your good luck charm how lucky they are, how special they are to you. What a special, special boy, they are. However, I couldn't help but notice what happened when Damon missed out on the Saturday night. emergency podcast. Honestly, I hadn't thought of that.
Starting point is 00:48:57 And Derek, I'm willing to wear that one. Yeah. I'm willing to wear that one. Because it wasn't that game you blew. It was like the diving back through like, oh, Damon didn't show up.
Starting point is 00:49:05 What's the point of living? Then why do we have to? Yeah. Why do we have a hundred percent? You know, in the spirit of keeping it, you know, keeping the microscope on me.
Starting point is 00:49:12 I know we already talked about it, but I did make a little graphic for it with a picture of Payvinsmith smiling at the dugout after he hit his home run today. And I said, I took the lineup graphic that, the D-backs tweeted out, you know, that they tweet out before every game, saw Pavin Smith hitting third. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:29 Said, find me a Pavan Smith replacement yesterday. And then Pavan gave me this, you know, crap eating grin as he is rounding first base. It's like he was looking for you. Yeah. It does feel that way. He's like, where's Damon? There's Damon. There he is.
Starting point is 00:49:46 If I need to say nasty things about Pave and Smith every game to get him to play good baseball, I can be that guy for this, this franchise. It's like, it's like what I implored them about J-Mart. I was like, why do we have to have a conversation to get J-Mart in the superhero mode, in the super-sayan mode, like midway through his outing? Why don't we just go out there, start the ninth with a mound visit and then get them fired up and let him go, twirl them around. Just regarding Pave and Smith, like you said, it's so insane, Derek, how every single
Starting point is 00:50:19 time that this guy, you're like, I'm out. I'm officially out. I can't do it anymore. Get Paven Smith like out of the starting lineup for this team. Every single time he's like, cool. Comes over and knocks on your door with a home run. Welcome to the 900 OPS for a month. I know I borrowed all that money from you and I know I broke your car and I know I didn't pick you up from the airport like I said I was. But here have these two RBI in this home run. And you're like, oh, fine, pay him. Get in here. Here's a little bit of something extra I baked for you on the side. I made you some cookies. Don't worry about it.
Starting point is 00:50:52 You're such a sweet boy. It's hard to ever be mad at him. But he was good today. So was Gino. Gino was just, what, a triple short of the cycle today. Of course, Bert did everything he could on the broadcast to make sure that that didn't happen. But speaking of cycles, there was something very special that happened on this day. And it is Thursday.
Starting point is 00:51:10 So we're going to take a look, not just that frosty takes, but throwback Thursday, of course. It's always throwback Thursday on Thursdays around here. on June 18th, 2012, Aaron Hill hit his first cycle of the season versus the Seattle Mariners. He would go on to hit another one that same season. What an impressive feat that that man was able to hit for the cycle twice. Like some players are never even lucky enough to do it one time in their whole career. Aaron Hill had a whole season of doing it basically. Aaron Hill, like, I feel like underrated Diamondback probably.
Starting point is 00:51:44 Yeah. Because he was almost, and I know there was a good chunk of time in between there, but like he's almost sandwiched between like O'Dog and Cattel who are like the best second baseman that we've ever had at this franchise. Yeah. And then you just have Aaron Hill who was like, I made an all star game for this team. And I was really, really good for Arizona Diamondbacks. And, you know, like he deserves his flowers. I remember in MLB the show that season, they had like, you know how they have those sounders that play in the background of like. big moments in the season.
Starting point is 00:52:16 Oh, yeah. They had the sounder of him hitting his second cycle. Goosebumps. The bicycle. Goosebumps for, you know, 12-year-old Damon or however old I was. Oh, God. Shut up. Anyway, no, yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:29 No, he was special. And you're right, though. There's a lot of dimebacks. And we were doing kind of an all-time list. And it's hard because there's not a lot of players that have been on this team or spent a majority of their career with this team. A lot of them were already established and they kind of got traded over here to the Diamondbacks and that infancy when they went on that run and won in 2001. A lot of those guys, I think we still hold in our hearts.
Starting point is 00:52:56 You know, you got, you got like obviously Gonzo and Randy and the other heroes. But, you know, you have a Tony Womack. You have a Craig Counsel. These guys, when you think of the best infielders in Diamondbacks history, you tend to think of them. But like going through it, the Diamondbacks have had a few of those guys that kind of had a short stit here. but while they were here, they were very, very good. Steve Finley played for every team in the NL. He really did. He really did.
Starting point is 00:53:20 I mean, I remember thinking Chad Tracy at one point was going to be the greatest Diamondback of all time because of how good he was for his stretch, you know? Mark Reynolds after that first month in the majors. Oh, for sure. I mean, the duo of Upton and Chris Young. Yeah, I mean, it was just amazing. But yeah, like it's hard because the Diamondbacks do have a lot of a lot of guys. That's why, like, Catell-R-Tal-Marty really has a sense.
Starting point is 00:53:43 to that Mount Rushmore of Diamondbacks greats. You know what I mean? And he is up there when you start looking at the most hits in franchise history. Now, given he does have longer tenure here than most of the other guys, but still it just goes to show how important he's been for this team. Paul Goldschman, obviously another guy that I besmirch on this show quite often. But a guy that when you go back and look at a lot of the leaders in offensive categories, just. Derek was just a little bit more of like an Adrian Gonson. all his guy back then.
Starting point is 00:54:14 Stop it. Ryan H felt me going, before I even got there, he was like, don't get Derek started on. Ryan, Ryan, I knew where I was going.
Starting point is 00:54:23 No, I knew where I was going. Well, another fun thing happened this past week in Diamondbacks history. On June 13, 2012, the Diamondbacks unveiled their very
Starting point is 00:54:32 first City Connect jersey, the original Serpientis uniform. And what I find amazing, Damon, is we love the new City Connect. There's no doubt about that. Fans love it. Everybody's wearing it.
Starting point is 00:54:46 I think once again, when you go to the team shop, the amount of jerseys available are dwindling. Even some of the items I've seen, you can't really find them anymore because they've sold out. Popularity is an all-time high. Yet I find myself already looking at some of the sand-colored Serpienta stuff and just going like, we didn't know how special it was while we had it. You know, it's just a real cool, classy thing. I still like the current City Connect far more than that one. They've been having Damon a lot of that stuff now on clearance in my secret little clearance shop that I won't tell anybody exactly where it is.
Starting point is 00:55:20 But whenever I go up there, it's hard to resist how beautiful some of that that Serpientist gear is. I feel like I didn't even see most of it. Like this iteration, the purple and teal is everywhere. And I feel like I've seen every single piece of merch. But there's still stuff from the sand and black days of me finding it going, oh, wow, that's a real nice hoodie. I've never even seen that before. Yeah, it's so Arizona. it really was a great look.
Starting point is 00:55:44 And you know, you need to change it up after a while. But, you know, hopefully someday they can kind of go back to it a little bit. I think that that would be fun, like the tan and black look a little bit more. I loved it. I really did. And I mean, again, I think maybe it's just now that we're removed from it. To be honest, I still think that the problem was once fanatics got involved, they took it from sand to like a piss yellow and we all got sick of it.
Starting point is 00:56:05 But that's all the thing. One thing I didn't like that they did with the Serpientes was take the state flag. off after the first second season. That made no sense going into the third season. And then they brought it back on this Serpientes and it makes it even more of a baffling decision. It's like, why did you take the flag off? Look how good it looks on it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:27 It actually was the reason I didn't buy one because I was, I keep trying to find a used one that has the flag because that's important to me. No, you know, it's funny you say that because I've realized I don't know if my love for this state is growing, but throwing like an Arizona flag on like anything anything especially like shut up and take my money that yeah take my money throwing it on the back of a hat above the you know above above the adjustable strap or anything like that I'm like done I take it that's why branded bills hats are so amazing like they do make Arizona hats but they are not they're not like cheesy lame hats they're so cool and they do they really understand how beautiful some of the stuff we have here is but and regarding you know
Starting point is 00:57:08 ASU and you of a stuff they have like state flag out outline stuff for those schools, which is really, really cool. That's right. And how big of you to also include an issue in that? I'm proud of you. It's growth. It's called growth. I like to put on for our fine partners.
Starting point is 00:57:23 Yeah. Sean says those old Cardinals jersey with a flag on the side. They took away the blue outline. So good. Didn't that they took away the old state flag. I mean, those Cardinal jerseys are iconic. They are very iconic for sure. But we appreciate you guys.
Starting point is 00:57:39 Thank you for taking a quick trip. down memory lane with us. Thank you for Randy Johnson for telling us his thoughts on the starting rotation so we could have a frosty cold take. But most importantly, thank you to the Diamondbacks for not getting swept by the Toronto Blue Jays winning today's game by a score of 9 to 5. Damon, again, not an easy task ahead, but still an important one. The job got to take care of business, got a job with you. Well, easy. I mean, it is the Rockies. It's not easy. It's not easy. There's still professional baseball players out there. And I think if you go in there with that attitude, that's going to be a huge mistake.
Starting point is 00:58:13 Playing their best ball of the season. They really are. I mean, they are. It's not great baseball, but it's still their best ball of the season. And the Diamondbacks have to be careful. Right. Their offense wasn't great in these last three games before today. Hopefully they can keep it rolling with today's big nine run performance.
Starting point is 00:58:27 But we will be back tomorrow with a 12 p.m. show. We are going to preview that series with the Rockies. We're going to take a look ahead. We're going to take a trip down to Snake Farm. And we'll try not to get too crazy. about this nine-game stretch. But, of course, until then, follow us on Twitter.
Starting point is 00:58:43 I am at cap underscore caveman with a K. Damon is at Damon Dog with a DAWG. We are all Damon's dogs, bark, bark. Our show is at Ph&X underscore D-Bex, but as always all roads lead to at pH and X underscore sports on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

Behave yourselves and remember kids, baseball is fun, but it's so much more fun when your bullpen doesn't make you think that an eight-run lead is going to be squandered.
