Well, the Arizona Diamondbacks bats were very cold tonight, once again,
outside of Cotel Marte's solo home run.
So I am wearing a hoodie possibly for the last time here in Arizona in 2025.
We are going to talk about the Diamondbacks,
losing the series finale to the Dodgers by a score of 3 to 1
and spoiling what was otherwise a very good night for Corbyn Burns on the mound.
We're going live in 30 seconds.
Don't you go anywhere?
Well, no ski tonight.
No ski for this team.
Welcome in to another edition of the people.
P HNX Diamondback show right here on PHNX.
My name is Derek Montia, occasionally known as the mayor of PHNX,
and I'm joined by the one,
the only large intimate Kevin Thomas on the ones and twos.
He is currently in the darkness of his living room right now,
and it's probably a good place to be.
It's a good place to wallow in sadness after watching the Diamondbacks
lose tonight to the Los Angeles Dodgers by a score of three to one.
Of course, this show is brought to you by our friends at Bet365 and game time.
make sure to download the bet 365 app today use our code of phnx 365 when you sign up for some bonus

first purchase save some money on going to some live events uh and the diamondbacks it's a 50-50
toss-up if the diamondbacks would actually win a game it feels like lately they're playing like a
500 team uh and they drop now to 26 and 24 the diamond backs hellacious 13 game stretch against the
NL West ends, and the Diamondbacks find themselves with a record of seven and six.
If you are a half-glass fool kind of person, maybe perhaps you could say cautiously optimistic.
With the way the Diamondbacks were playing coming into this stretch,
seven and six doesn't sound so bad, considering that they had seven games against the Dodgers,
and then also three against the Giants and three against the Rockies.
However, you know, it did with how badly the Rockies are playing,
and with how close these games were against Los Angeles,
seven and six does not really feel like a win today.
And today, the reason the Diamondbacks lost,
we're going to go over maybe the two reasons,
maybe three reasons why they lost this game.
But I think the most important one was the lack of offense.
Again, the Diamondbacks weren't able to generate more than a single run in today's game.
And that's important to remember.
Corbyn Burns was outstanding on the mound.
He basically made one mistake.
in a hanging slider that ended up costing him pretty big.
But regardless, the Diamondbacks offense really wasn't able to generate much tonight.
Cotell Marte was the lone bright spot for this team,
scoring the team's only run on a solo shot in the fourth inning.
That home run, that little morsel, of course, is our Sanderson Ford deep drive of the game.
The Diamondbacks only home run in this one.
And, of course, it was a pretty deep home run.
He went 425 feet.
It was 108.1 miles per hour off the bat.
This was Cattel's seventh home run of the year.
And it is something to celebrate.
Cotel continues to be excellent against Los Angeles.
And when I say that, I mean, since 2017,
he literally has the most hits against the Dodgers of any active player.
Cotell Marte has 52 hits against the Dodgers at Dodgers Stadium since 2017.
And that's the most by any active player,
believe it or not more than Christian Walker, more than a few guys, more than Fernando Tatis
Jr. So Catelle Marte continues to be a thorn in the side for the Dodgers, but wasn't enough.
And of course, you know, this was a night where that's what you could basically say about the
offense for this team. There just wasn't enough of it. There wasn't enough contributions from other
guys on this team. The Diamondbacks had had themselves a day where,
Again, there was a lot of one hit days.
Alec Thomas was 0 for 1.
Lord's Gouriel was 0 for 2.
Tim Taubo was 0 for 3.
Pavin Smith, 0 for 3, Gritchick, O for 1.
And then a lot of one hit days.
Of course, Corbyn Carroll got a hit, as he always does.
He was 1 for 3 with a walk.
And again, Corbyn didn't contribute much today.
However, Corbyn Carroll is in some pretty elite company.
I'm not sure if this is going around or, I mean,
I should be screaming this from the mountain tops, and I can't believe I haven't seen this a million
places. But Corbyn Carroll is just the third player in the modern era of baseball dating back to
1900 because baseball is like a thousand years old, so you could go back even further than that.
But in the modern era of baseball, he is the third player to record 15 or more home runs,
30 or more RBI, 6 plus triples, and four or more stolen bases.
in the teams in his team's first 49 games.
The other two players to do that,
Willie Mays and Babe Ruth.
So that's the three players that is,
or in that, I guess, a very small fraternity.
No big deal, just Willie Mays and just Babe Ruth.
Willie Mays did it in 1955.
He had 16 home runs, 36 RBI, seven triples,
and three stolen bases in that span.
Babe Ruth did it.
for the New York Yankees.
I'm sure you've heard about those,
those guys,
him playing on that team.
That was back in 1921, 16 home runs,
46 RBI,
seven triples,
four stolen bases.
Not enough is talked about
Babe Ruth's base stealing there.
Probably did it with a cigar
and a ham hawk in his hand at the same time.
Just running around the bases,
eating, smoking,
and just literally smoking the baseball
and smoking the opposition.
Gino was two for four tonight.
I believe that didn't change.
sometimes I write these stats in there and then things change.
But yeah, no, he was two for Fortnite with a pair of singles,
but he also made a huge mistake in the sixth inning.
And again, we're going to talk about Gino's botch play there that extended the six.
But I will say before we go on to placing blame like we love to do around here.
And yes, to those in the chat, we will find a way to blame Tori.
Don't you worry, as crazy as you might think somebody in the chat is for saying that Tori is to blame for
this one. Don't worry, they'll find a way. That's the way that that's the way that this fan base
currently works with Tori. But yeah, the offense, just not an encouraging night. You got to give
credit where credit is due to Dustin May and to the Dodgers once again. I just don't know. I don't
know what what's going on with this Diamondbacks team. Just consistently inconsistent when it comes
to their offense. They put nine runs up in game one. Obviously, they get kind of blank there by Yamamoto.
who had an excellent, excellent outing in game two.
You've got to give tip of the cap and all the credit to Yamamoto
for what he was able to do against his team.
However, you know, you still saw the offense pick up there late against the bullpen,
which Dodgers bullpen has not been very good this year.
And the Diamondbacks were able to capitalize on that a little bit in game two,
but then they have a heartbreaking loss and extra innings where the Dodgers end up coming back
against Shelby Miller.
And, you know, again, there's a lot to unravel there.
we discussed Miller and if he really was to blame considering his usage lately and kind of being thrust into this, you know,
close a role when he wasn't expecting to be that guy for sure, you know, especially at one point he was fighting for a job on the major league roster bullpen.
And yet here he is as the most essentially valuable reliever that the Diamondbacks are turning to in these high leverage situations.
Tonight was just kind of an aptitude when you saw what the Diamondbacks were doing.
And again, credit to Dustin May, credit to the Dodgers for being able to hold the Diamondbacks.
to just one one run tonight.
But this was another night where the Diamondbacks outhit the Dodgers.
They just weren't able to put things together.
They weren't able to have very many scoring opportunities.
I mean, they've been bad with runners in scoring position this year.
But today they were 0 for three.
They only had three opportunities with runners in scoring position,
despite the fact that they had seven hits in this game.
It feels overall like they should have at least had some more opportunities there,
and they did not.
But again, the Dodgers win this.
series and they also win so far the season series going up four games to three overall.
And if you want to be at least a little positive about it, the Diamondbacks had a shot
at winning all three of these games and were, they had a lead at one point in all three of
these games, had a definite opportunity to possibly sweep the Dodgers.
But unfortunately, they were, they collapsed there in extra innings in game two.
And here today, it was just a lack of putting.
putting things together, you know, really.
And the Dodgers didn't have a lot of opportunities with runners in scoring position.
They were one for two with runners in scoring position today against Corbyn Burns,
who despite the numbers, despite the outcome, had himself a very good day.
And again, going back to that botched play by Gino, it wasn't an error.
It wasn't something that will come back and, you know, be impacted in his fielding percentage
or his stats.
but Gino had a ball hit to him by Mookie Betts there in the sixth inning.
And at that point, again, you could alternate timeline the hell out of this.
But defensively, it was the biggest play of the game because it extended the inning.
You had Burns there give up.
I think it was just his second hit of the game to Miguel Rojas to lead off the sixth inning.
You get Otani to fly out.
And then Mookie Betts hits this ball that nine times out of ten,
even 10 times out of 10. Gino is able to field and get over to first base for an out.
He misses it. It goes out into the outfield, get a runner on.
Burns is able to strike out. Freddie Freeman on the ensuing batter and in the good timeline that we live in.
That ended the inning because Gino didn't make that defensive mistake.
Unfortunately, we live in what is sometimes this horrible, horrible timeline, especially in 2025,
which I'm going to get to the super chats, but I already saw what someone said,
a series, what was it, a season of missed opportunities, uh, or, there it is the 20, 25.
Thank you, Nicholas Gruders for your super chat.
2025, the season of missed opportunities.
So much, so much.
I mean, again, this is baseball, right?
If you are new to this game, welcome, because this is what happens.
I do kind of laugh at the idea here when people, uh, seem to be surprised that outcomes
change late.
Uh, it's kind of like where a guy has a no hitter going through six innings and I'm like,
yeah, I don't care about that.
Show me a no-hitter going through eight, and I'll start carrying.
However, you know, it's because games change late.
Things happen late in baseball games.
That's really, to me, the sixth inning and beyond is where things start cooking, right?
Like, tonight I had my daughter's eighth grade graduation.
Shout out to my beautiful daughter, daughter, Lily.
She's amazing, and I'm so proud to see her graduate tonight.
But with the way that this game was going, it was going pretty fast.
I didn't know how much of it I was actually going to catch.
And of course, we sped through the first five innings.
I think it was an hour in 10 minutes and we were through five innings already.
But that's when the action started to happen.
That was that sixth inning for the Dodgers especially.
And again, you have Tay Oscar Hernandez come up to the plate.
He hits a big home run, puts the Dodgers up by three.
You know, that's why I say if you want to start putting this into,
to who's to blame?
Yeah, you could blame Gino.
Yes, you can blame Corbynard Burns.
But still at the end of the day,
nine innings passed by and the Diamondbacks only had the one run off of Cattel's bat.
So I don't know.
I can't really think that, you know, this team was destined to win this game one to nothing.
We know that if things came down to it late.
You know how this outcome probably would have turned.
I hate to be negative like that.
It just feels very much like, you know,
the lack of offense is really to blame.
I don't really feel like a two-run lead is enough for the Diamondbacks to kind of give up on this one.
It was just really a lack of being able to do much.
And unfortunately, on this one, I have to very much blame this on, you know, the offense and guys that weren't able to get the job done.
I felt like they tried to pinch it for some guys.
Again, they brought in a few different guys.
They brought Lourdes in despite the fact Lourdes had today off.
Lordus had apparently requested for today off, and he still comes in, gets two at-bats
in this one, gives the Diamondbacks a chance.
At least, I know he had that final at-bat where he struck out swinging, but I felt like
of the battles we've seen Lordis had, he was trying to be valiant there in the bottom
of the ninth or top of the ninth and give the Diamondbacks a shot.
But again, Gritchett came in a pinch-hit opportunity, pinch-it for Payvon-Smith.
He wasn't able to get anything done.
So again, the Dodgers are a very good team at times.
And tonight was one of those nights where, you know,
the Diamondbacks definitely gave them a run for their money,
but they were able to do just enough to, you know, win this game.
And I'll also say, you know, their bullpen held it down after Dustin May left.
And that's something to definitely, you know, acknowledge there,
is that these guys, Trevino hasn't been very good.
He has a 4.6 ERA.
He came in and gave him an inning in a third.
when Dreyer had given up two hits there in the set uh i believe it was the sixth seventh inning
and uh yeah i mean they they got out of that inning and they are able to uh you know get through
this game and and tanner scott comes in and does not blow it and gets two strikeouts against the
diamond back so uh but yeah i mean there are some positives i agree what jennifer says the diamondbacks
held otani and check and to be fair aside from what ended up happening in the ninth inning of that
second game, they didn't really run from Otani. And I don't know if they should have then. I feel
like my biggest criticism of what happened there in the ninth inning or, sorry, not the ninth inning
in the 10th inning of game two was the fact that, you know, the Diamondbacks ran from their hitters.
And yeah, I know. I've, I've said at times, like when Corbyn Burns picks and chooses who he wants
to actually pitch to, that I don't hate that, that I feel like it's fairly intelligent baseball. However,
you know, that ninth inning, things kind of got a little bit out of control and they kept having
an open base at first and kept filling the need to fill it over there so that they could possibly
get the double play. I get that. It just ended up actually biting them once Will Smith did
whatever the hell you want to call that, not got out of the way of a ball that came on the inside
and let himself get hit. But yeah, again, thank you to all of you guys for being here. Appreciate you
guys. I know it's a fairly late on a Wednesday after a loss, so not exactly ideal circumstances,
but appreciate you so much. And again, this is, this one's, I don't feel like this one's is
heartbreaking. This one's just more frustrating that the Diamondbacks weren't able to do more,
especially on a night where they out hit the Dodgers and had the same number of home runs as
them. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Diamondbacks still stink with runners in
scoring position. And tonight, they didn't give themselves very many opportunities with runners in
scoring position. But we are going to talk about the pitching in this one. Not a lot to complain
about. And I'm going to mostly just get on my soapbox and defend Corbyn Burns in this game. But
we'll do all that on the other side of this break. Don't you go anywhere. You're watching the pH

All right, we got a super chat here from Douglas,
thank you so much for your super chat.
He says all teams ahead of us are eight or more games
above 500 at home, Diamondbacks, 13 and 13.
We'll miss the playoffs again if they don't discover
home field advantage.
That is such a great point.
And again, one of those weird anomalies
to be fair, the Diamondbacks have been playing 50-50 ball,
it feels like, for entirely too long, right?
They go on a few good stretches.
They, you know, win some series,
but right now they sit at 26 and 24.
And, you know, again, I'm not going to send Kattel up the mountain tonight
just to prove a point.
But what I will say is that I have him on tap ready to go at any time.
And I will say that as long as the Diamondbacks right now can stay above 500,
then at least they can stay part of this conversation for the NL West.
You're not wrong, though.
And again, there's this point where the Diamondbacks need to specifically win games
against their division rivals because of how important those games are,
how much it helps them stay in the hunt because right now the Giants,
the Padres, they are both in a wildcard position above the Diamondbacks.
The Diamondbacks are on the outside looking in.
But it also, you know, again, is just important considering that, you know,
know, there's less opportunities now against your own division.
So it's more important than ever that when they get a chance to play these Dodgers,
that they take advantage. And quite frankly, you know, I'll give the Dodgers today's game,
but I'm still kind of sick over the extra innings loss,
considering that the Diamondbacks had a two-run lead going into the bottom of the 10th
and still manage to blow that game. That's one that definitely makes me feel gross.
I'm going to think about for a very long time.
We talked about it yesterday.
And Jesse tried to do his best, but his best wasn't good enough for me, damn it.
I'm still upset.
And now I have this whole new report about the Diamondbacks, possibly moving to Utah.
And I have my baseball bat here with me right now.
And I'm ready to go to war with the entire state of Utah.
So we're going to talk about that later.
But first, we're going to talk about Corbyn Burns because he was very good against the Diamond
back or against Dodgers for the Diamondbacks.
He continues to be very good for the.
this team. He gave them another quality start tonight. And like I said earlier, like many of you
have said, Corbyn Burns just had one bad hanging slider that was really the difference maker
tonight for his outing. He was outstanding until he wasn't. And that was just in the sixth
inning. And then he continued to be outstanding for a little bit longer. His cutter and
curveball tandem were just fairly unstoppable tonight. He threw his cutter 56 times and got seven
wifts on it. But more importantly, he got nine whiffs on his curveball coming in as that alternate pitch
to the cutter. So those were working tonight. Obviously, the slider really wasn't. And that's
part of the problem is that the slider wasn't working for Corbyn Burns tonight. But the Diamondbacks,
again, didn't give him much run support behind him. So as much as I want to fault him for what
happened there in the sixth inning, I can't, right?
He had given up just his second hit of the night to Miguel Rojas to lead off that inning.
Mookie Betts hit what appeared to be, in my opinion, in what a lot of people's opinions,
a fairly routine ground ball to Gino Suarez, who just misplayed it.
And then you get him striking out Freddie Freeman.
Things feel good.
So, of course, Teoska Hernandez hits a three home run and the debacks go down three to one, right?
But I got to give credit to Corbyn's again, eight strikeouts tonight against the Dodgers.
Let's light up that Circle K strikeout tracker.
That performance is definitely strikeout meter worthy for sure.
But again, Teasca Hernandez, we talked earlier about what Cotele-Marté has done since 2017 to the Dodgers.
Teasker Hernandez might just be equally as bad.
This man torments the Diamondbacks.
He currently, let's see these numbers, he's slashing 312, 369 with a 494 slug for an 863 OPS.
he has 24 hits in or 20 what i think it's 25 hits now in like uh what is it 87 at that so uh
teasker has been very good against the diamond backs i believe somebody from the dodger i'm sure
it's from the dodgers community because none of you would say anything nice about a dodger at
this point but uh said that tay oscar owns the diamondbacks and at least tonight at least tonight
it's hard to argue with that uh it's definitely hard to argue with what he
has done against this team in the past, and tonight, he was the big reason why the Dodgers
end up walking away with a W. However, I don't blame Corbyn Burns, and I've said this before,
I'll say it again. If you're starting pitcher gives you a quality start, then by God,
your team has a chance to win. And against, again, one of the best offenses in baseball,
the Diamondbacks as a whole and Corbyn Burns were able to hold them to just three runs tonight.
theoretically that should be enough to give you a chance to win a baseball game so i'm giving the king
snake since nobody on offense really deserves it besides kattel but even he was just one for he just
hit that home run it's no big deal anybody can hit home run corbin burns went seven innings against the
dodgers and he only gave up three earn runs so that's who i'm giving it to corbin burns is our king snake
for tonight seven innings pitched three earn runs one walk eight strikeouts uh and again uh this is not a perfect night
is not a night where I think a lot of people would say, you know,
Burns shoved.
But this is,
this is good against the Dodgers team.
And especially considering that the Diamondbacks have struggled with their bullpen
and have struggled overusing their bullpen,
it was also very important that Corbyn's once again went out there and gave this
team seven innings pitched in this outing.
So credit to him,
credit to Jalen Beaks going out there and holding the Dodgers scoreless in his
that inning of work. He just went out there and gave up one hit. He struck out one. But this overall
is a frustrating night. And again, you got your three different choices here on who you want to
blame it with. And then there's always the wildcard choice of Toy Lovel. So go ahead, drop it in the chat.
Tell me if you're blaming it on the offense, or you blame it it on Gino or are you blaming it on
Corbyn Burns? Because some people might want to do that. But I will say that this is one of those
nights where to me it's fairly obvious that the offense, at least in my opinion, didn't do enough.
And no offense to Dustin May, he's been good.
But the Diamondbacks made him look better than he was.
And they also made this bullpen look better than they should have made this bullpen look
tonight.
So I really hate everything and the way things went for this team.
But I do feel like Corbyn Burns continues to be an asset.
I know that there's a lot of people.
we just want to push the narrative, right?
Especially with the way that the season started for Corbyn Burns,
that the Diamondbacks once again struck out on a starting pitcher that they added.
And that is not the case.
They are not, they're not doing that.
The Corbyn Burns is a good pitcher.
He was once again good tonight.
I don't think you can expect perfection,
especially against the Dodgers.
But I believe it was Jennifer that said it earlier.
I think, you know, what they were able to do against Dutani in the series,
what they were able to do in general was was pretty impressive and this team deserved
Corbyn's and and Jalen Beeks deserved some more run support tonight so I don't know what the
diamondbacks do to fix this I don't really think that it was a problem with their lineup and once again
I felt like the you know the pinch hitters late were the right calls to try to get some bats in there
but I just don't know if guys like Gino or Lourdes at times are the best pinch hitters considering like
they don't get used for that.
Usually if they are on the bench, they're on the bench,
they don't kind of get up cold and go out there and try to swing the bat.
I know Gino, when he came out for a pinch hit appearance,
he looked barely rusty and did not look like he was timing the pitch as well.
Lord is tonight at least in that ninth inning, you know,
like he battled his ass off, right?
Like credit where credits do.
I still have these wonderful beers from our friends at four peaks,
these kilt lifters with the Diamondbacks,
logo on them that are beautiful. I'm going to crack one of these and say cheers to Lourdes'
ninth inning at bat there because at least I felt like he cared in that moment. At times,
I don't know if I felt like this offense cared tonight. So I don't know. But it's one of those
games that really makes you wonder, where is this team that at times looks like the top
offense in baseball, right? Where is this team that still puts up these numbers that we look at here
and get impressed by, you know, and honestly,
Diamondbacks since May 5th,
the Diamondbacks are second in Slug at 494,
just behind the Dodgers at 511.
Sorry that my screen got really bright.
I'm bringing up a white screen.
I don't have dark mode for everything.
Also, the D-Backs 26 homers since May 5th,
27 now with Catals tonight since May 5th,
are tied for the most in Major League Baseball,
also with the Dodgers,
and their 58 extra base hits.
in that time period or 59 now with getell's home run are second behind the dodgers who have like 61 or 62 now right so
really it's like this this diamond back's team has done things but much like i guess you could say
gino and and lordis it's streaky it's inconsistent they go through these periods of time where their
offense is rolling and then they also put up one run against the colorado rockies and i still could
Kevin, you should probably ding me.
I still probably shouldn't be kicking dirt on the Rockies names,
but they're getting sued because of how bad they are as a franchise.
So I think that that's fairly fine.
But on the plus side, again,
Jalen Beeks was the only guy used tonight.
Not really sure if we needed to use our only lefty.
However, I do appreciate this.
This is why at least in my opinion, you can't really blame Tori.
he did everything he could to make sure that this game didn't get further away from them once they
were down two runs. That would have been fairly infuriating to see them maybe white flag it.
But I also think Scott McGuff has been pitching fine and maybe he would have been a better,
you know, reliever to use in that situation. Jalen Beaks got the job done. He's just, once again,
Diamondback's only lefty and now you've used them a few times. So probably won't be available
tomorrow and that's all I think about well tomorrow's an off day so I think we're good on that but the
nine backs star series there on Friday so we will say this though that this team needs to figure out a way for
their offense to get rolling once again and they need something fast I don't think the answer is going
to come from Reno and that is no knock at Jordan Lawler it's also no knock at Ildomar Vargas or
AJ Bukovic or any of the other guys that are hitting the ball off the cover off the ball in Reno I just think
that again, it's misleading.
Jake McCarthy, though,
maybe bring him back.
I don't know.
Diamondbacks need some sort of jumpstart
offensively, and I don't
know who the person is to do it.
But Cattel, he tried to do it today,
and he does what he does against
the Los Angeles Dodgers. Pretty impressive
when you think about it, because
Cattel's 57, or, excuse me,
his 52 hits
against the Dodgers at Dodgers
at Dodger Stadium since 2017.
Doesn't really seem like, you know,
don't usually hear of Catell being one of the guys that really drives Dodgers fans nuts,
but apparently he has more of those hits than Christian Walker, definitely not more home runs,
but a lot of those hits. So we're talking, we're still talking in the chat about moving and it
makes me sick. I know, it's probably more fun to talk about that. Thank you, Candice. Candice said,
we are not moving and she used all caps so you know she means it. We are coming up with new names for
the Diamondback. Should they move to?
I don't know. I'm not doing this. We're not doing this. Kevin, we're not doing this.
We'll do this in segment four because I'm already getting angry and I don't want to be angry.
I'm in the red and I don't need to be in the red. But again, the Diamondbacks offense, they put me in the red tonight.
So they probably are more guilty of that than these rumors about the Diamondbacks moving to Utah.
So again, I'm going to sharpen a stick and get ready for this inevitable state versus state war with Utah.
I hope you guys choose to do the same. We're going to take a quick break.
you are watching the pH next time and back show.
Well, if you are in the market for a new vehicle,
Sanderson Ford is the place to check out.
Right now,
Sanderson Ford has announced they're from America
for America employee financing,
where you pay the same as the owner of Sanderson Ford
on the full line of new Ford's with no hassle, no pressure,
no nonsense like you get here at this show,
and no added markups.
And that's the important part.
You can go to most Ford dealerships around the valley,
and you can find yourself the same firm America for America pricing.
However, you're going to get those markups.
You're going to get those addendums, and you're not going to get that at Sanderson Ford.
On top of the employee pricing, you're going to get additional Ford incentives on over 1,000 vehicles during the Sanderson Ford Platinum 70th anniversary sale.
Also, in celebration of their 70th anniversary, you can stop in and get a pair of tickets to an Arizona Diamondbacks game just for stopping in.
No test drive required.
But remember, if you are looking for a vehicle, and I'm telling you this because I've done this myself, don't settle for the wrong color.
don't settle for the wrong trim and God forbid don't settle for the vehicle that you weren't out there to get.
Go to Sanderson Ford because they have the inventory and the customer service that you're looking for for a vehicle dealership.
This does exclude the 2025 expedition, Super Duty Raptor family Mustang and Broncos specialty vehicles.
One pair of tickets per household valid driver's license to the July 6th game versus the Kansas City Royals while supply of 200 tickets last.

I'm seeing this meme of Haliburton choking out the Knicks,
and of course, you can get down on the NBA action
with the early.

Well, Kevin, I'm in my house.
I hope you guys are in your homes.
I'm very thankful that I'm in my house.
I had a long night there trying to figure out a way to get out of a high school parking lot.
But I made it alive and I'm very thankful to be here in my home.
and I wouldn't be here without Desert Financial.
They helped me get started on my home ownership journey.
Hopefully they can get you started,
but they do always make sure our numbers are straight
with our by the numbers for the post series.
Let's take a look.
These are our numbers from the series.
Wild, wild numbers that are just going to disappoint you
and make you kind of ill that the Diamondbacks lost this series,
two games to three.
The Diamondbacks actually outscored the Dodgers 13 to 12 in the series.
The Diamondbacks had six home runs to the Dodgers'
Four runners in scoring position.
Big difference there, not huge.
Dynevacks for 3 for 20.
The Dodgers were 5 for 15.
Neither team had a ton of opportunities with runners
in scoring position in the series.
Dodgers just did a little bit better,
obviously there based on their 5 for 15 numbers.
Starting ERA, Dodgers was very good,
basically bolstered by that Yamamoto seven innings,
scoreless outing.
And then today, again, Dustin May with six innings,
only allowing one earned run.
Their starting pitching ERA for the series was 2.40 to the Diamondbacks 3.50.
And then last, the relief pitching ERA, gross, gross, gross, 4.15 for the Diamondbacks,
5.54 for the Dodgers.
And this one felt important.
I mean, at least winning the series felt important.
I know that the Diamondbacks still have another matchup with the Dodgers here coming up in September.
pretty long stretch between the time that they see them.
So again, a chance for the Diamondbacks to get things together.
And Stephen Banana said, you're telling me we batted 150 with runners in scoring position.
That's exactly what I'm telling me, Stephen.
I don't know what to say.
But let's take a look at the N-Hell West standings because, again,
Diamondbacks had a chance to keep things close, right?
To keep the group close.
And they drop them all a little bit, Kevin.
I'm not thrilled about this.
I know you're becoming a Diamondbacks fan,
but since you're kind of on the outside,
how should we feel here?
It does feel like a lot of missed opportunities, right?
I forget, I believe it was Nicholas Gruders earlier
that had that super chat saying the 2025
is the year of the missed opportunity.
And it's a little early, I think, to proclaim that,
there are certainly a lot of opportunities
you'd love to have back early on this season.
there. Yeah. I mean, you could easily say the Diamondbacks, you could look at that and say four
wins, right? There's four games you can think of this year, at least four, right? At least four.
That could have been wins, that were losses. You put those in the win category. Kevin, I don't know.
I'm not the best at math anymore without Jesse here on a regular basis, but I do believe that would put
the Diamondbacks in second place, if not first, if some of those wins were against the Dodgers
instead of being losses.
Right?
No, yeah, you're totally correct.
And I don't know.
I think when you have such high expectations for this roster coming into the year on paper
because this roster, I mean, the Diamondbacks, that's not a poor record, right?
But the talent on the roster does not dictate a near 500 team, which is exactly what the
diamondbacks are right now. And I know, you know, Tanner's saying that in the chat. And Tanner's
correct. Like, whether you're 510 or 5, you know, 15 or 490, you're 500. And right now, that's what
the diamondbacks are. And they have to figure out a way to enter that echelon right above that and
continue to elevate as they go deeper into the season and face my damn cardinals. Yeah, yeah. And your
cardinals have been playing some good baseball as of late. So it's not a great time to run into
them we're going to preview that series tomorrow uh on the uh off day so we'll do that do we call it the
loo are you are you are you uh the leu guy that's a thing that's yeah there's many names but the lou is a
real thing yeah i feel like it's cooler saying it than having it printed across the city
connect jersey just my feelings i don't think the city characters really do yeah all right well uh
we'll talk more about uh some stuff and the stuff we're i don't want to talk about it
remind. I don't want to move on, Kevin. I don't want to move on. I'm just going to sit here
and filibuster on this topic, but throw the N-Hell West back up. I might sing for a little while. I don't
know. I don't want to talk at all. I don't want to bring up these comments that somebody made,
and I don't want to bring up these rumors that are being had. I just want to talk about this.
Again, I don't know. Diamondbacks could be sitting at 30 and 20 right now, like I said,
easily based on those four wins. But that is, I don't know. That's, to be a
be that's kind of loser talk, right? When you start talking about games, it should be wins.
This is where we're at. Got to focus on the future. Got to figure out a way to get out of it,
not necessarily a way to go back in time. Because if we could figure that out, then there's a lot
of other things I feel like we should address besides just the four or five wins that the Diamondbacks,
you know, historically, like, you know, last season, getting them in the playoffs. We got to go back
and fix that first. Maybe we'll fix that the Corey Seeger home run and the world's
series. Maybe we'll fix not going to, I don't know, maybe Paul C.
Well, a lot of things I would fix before just necessarily those four games. But we,
I wish I had a time machine to fast forward through this next segment. So we're going to talk about
these rumors, these allegations, this whole situation with this house bill that's not
going anywhere for the Arizona Diamondbacks and what they're going to do about improving
Chase Field on the other side of this break. So of course,
Don't you go anywhere.
You're watching the P.
H&X Diamondback show.

And you know what I want to be talking about right now.
I want to be talking about our Chase Field pool party takeover.
That's what I wanted to talk about.
I want to talk about going to Chase Field and having fun watching a baseball game.
I don't want to talk about politics and house bills and taxes and renovating stadiums
because I feel like we've had this conversation before and that ended with the Utah
mammoths existing or wait excuse me it's not plural it's just the utah mammoth the the team is just
one hairy elephant that's it and uh i don't know if he plays forward i don't know if he's goaly i don't know
how he's going to play uh like what happens when he commits a penalty and has to go to the box do
they just go on the power play against zero mammoth ma'mami i i don't know i'm going to get on the
whole rant about that but i i do you do that i do you do that you do that you do that's a little bit
want to tell you guys about our pool party takeover at chase field because we are going to have fun
Shane's trying to hijack it and make it his birthday party but I'm not going to allow that to happen

taking her on the Washington nationals in the pool with some of your favorite fellow diehards favorite
fellow fans me Damon will be out there Kevin's going to do a power uh kind of ball he said he can't swim
but we're going to move push him in or something.

But we do have the right field pool reserve on July 3rd.

No live show that day.
I'm going to be partying with you guys.
So make sure to join us for that.
We'll have a great time.
Let's see.
Excuse me.
Kevin has a question in the chat.
He says, can you answer Stephen Banana's question about
favorite memory against the Dodgers after this?
I'm going to tell you about my first memory against the Dodgers after this.
I don't know if you mean the Diamondbacks because of
Of course, my favorite memory is the, what is it, the NLCS in 2023.
I was, I was down in that.
I was in that.
I was on the little concourse of the first level in between the letter seats and the number
seats.
And I was high-fiving random strangers and hugging ushers and crying with people and
screaming, losing my voice.
That's my favorite memory of all time of the Dodgers.
And it always will be.
But my favorite, I guess the other memory I was talking about is the
fact that my first memory of baseball, one of my first memories of baseball, you guys,
is hating the Dodgers.
That's right.
The year, I believe, was 1992.
I think I was 11 years old.
And we were taken to Dodgers Stadium to watch the Dodgers take on the Montreal Expos.
And this was a Sunday game.
And I didn't give a crap about either one of these teams.
Now, what I gave a crap about was that during batting practice, somebody from the Expos
had thrown me a baseball. So I had a baseball and I found out I could get it signed by the Dodgers
after the game because it was kind of a thing they did where they would come out, especially this was
like, you know, the last game of a homestand. So they were going on the road. They'll come out.
They'll sign autographs. And they lost to the expos that day. And those little cry babies decided
not to come out and sign autographs. And they had like an usher come out and tell us that the
Dodgers weren't going to come out and sign autographs.
And the crowd kind of went, aw, boo, and walked away.
And then the expos came out like some superheroes, like the Thunderbolts, if you will,
you know, an unexpected group of heroes.
And they signed autographs.
And they were cool.
And because of that, I forever hate the Dodgers and will forever hate the Dodgers.
So if there's any Dodgers fans left in here who aren't gloating or going on about their
business, your team has always sucked to me.
they will always suck and I will always hate them despite the allegations that Damon makes about me liking them.
So there's that.
Thomas Jury, thank you for your super chat.
He says Dodgers hate us just because our gear is sicker than theirs.
Swag up.
Yes, we have proof as you saw a tweet from our account where Dodgers fans, multiple fans,
not just the guy I caught on camera, but multiple were caught red-handed buying the new City Connect stuff because it's fire.
It's fire.
It's incredible.
Megarand Warit tonight to my daughter's graduation.
and he looked incredible in it.
But that's because we get all of these wonderful memories,
thanks to this Diamondbacks team being here,
including these wonderful jerseys.
Thank you, Derek Foster, for your super chat.
He says, Tough Bot series on to at Lewis.
I mean, I think St. Louis, but autocorrect might have gotten them on that one.
But before we move on to St. Louis,
we have to figure out if the Arizona dive backs are moving to Utah.
That's right.
Are they moving to Utah?
The reason why this has become a talking point,
a rumor, a thing that has been brought up, is that the Arizona Chamber of Commerce President
and CEO, Danny, excuse me, for butchering this, Asidon.
He joined Broomhead on KTAR, and he discussed the possible renovation deal for Chase Field
and the progress of it.
And it sounds like things aren't going well, which is what I anticipated.
He basically tried to say that the team was going to end up putting way more money into this,
then, you know, people are estimating or that the team, you know, the team just, again, for a building that isn't owned by the team,
they just wanted a fair share kind of added in based on the revenue generated by taxes at the stadium.
And of course, now, like I said several times on this show, the idea that Maricopa County needs to also submit an equal portion to it,
that is equal to what they're getting from the income taxes, really like an albatross around the neck of this deal.
right but Danny here basically cautioned that the states of Utah and Oregon are being very
aggressive to put together deals for funding for baseball stadiums and he went on to say and I
quote if we're not careful we are going to see the Arizona Diamond Packs become the Utah
PICA now for those of you that might not know what a PICA is a Pika is a Pika is a little
rodent. It's a little adorable, cute, I don't want to say desert rodent because that's something
that would live here. It lives up in the, a little bit in the higher ground, the higher elevation,
a place like Utah. And I don't know where Danny got his information from, but a pika is the
exact type of animal that a snake eats. And I will be damned if I'm going to let the Arizona
Diamondbacks ever become the Arizona pica. I will chain myself to Catell. I will. I will,
stand in the street in front of the moving bus or moving vehicle, whatever you all they have
to get their stuff out of here. I will not. I will die before I let that happen. And again,
this is all about stadium funding in a situation where quite frankly, Maricopa County is not
owning up to their responsibilities here. I know that it's easy to kind of make these arguments
like I believe Katie Hobbs is making in regards to, you know,
funding billionaire stadiums and this and that.
But I'm going to go on.
I'm going to go on to say this.
I'm going to do it behind this backster mask because I feel like it's appropriate
that I do it behind this Baxter mask.
Let me see if I could light it up with the eyes are real creepy
and you can see them in the camera.
I'm going on to say, you really want to lose this?
You really want to lose all of this.
You want the Diamondbacks as an organization that play 81 games in downtown Arizona.
And roughly, at least this season, have been attracting 20,000 people to the area,
employing thousands of people in that building,
and most importantly, generating income for hotels and restaurants and bars in the downtown area.
What happens with Chase Field?
I'm sure it'll become some sort of corporate high rise or some sort of probably condominiums or something, right?
It's going to make plenty of money when it's gone.
But what's going to happen to the businesses in downtown Arizona that kind of already struggle to have a draw down there,
especially when the Phoenix Suns aren't playing basketball or the Mercury aren't playing basketball?
You don't really have another team occupying that building or that area.
So let's not screw around with this.
Let's not make bad business decisions.
Also, let's not solely focus on the fact that it's money being generated for,
the team or, you know, billionaires or whatever the case.
However, you want to package it to make it sound as evil and terrible as it possibly can be, right?
I'm not a huge person that necessarily wants my taxes to go pay for things that I don't utilize.
But I don't have a choice in that, right?
And for the most part, I just kind of know that.
And my taxes are taken out and they go to what the government decides.
And that's fine, right?
And in some cases, it does go to fund things that I have nothing to do with and had no impact
of my life.
And are things maybe I wouldn't choose to have my money go towards?
But that's not what living in a society is about.
Living in a society is having your public taxes go to pay for things that are important
to the city.
And in this case, having a baseball team play at Chase Field in downtown is very important
of this city.
It's important to the economy.
It's important to human beings.
like not only are there people that are employed there's people that have employed at that building
much longer than me uh and i trust me i do have a stake in this so i'm going to get a little heated about it
but i will say that the fact i i knew i knew even when this bill was introduced it was like too good
to be true i knew things were wrapping up too neatly and there's going to have to be hurdles there's
going to have to be speed bumps along in the process. But I also knew that at one point,
we were going to start threatening this exact thing. I think we were going to start threatening
the inevitable, you know, comparisons to the Arizona coyotes and what happened with them.
And quite frankly, that situation is idiotic. And the fact that our beloved Arizona coyotes are now
the Utah mammoth is disgusting to me. I'm going to go do a minute meetings with the mayor about
it because I'm so upset about it. I don't even know I'm going to do. I want to make that team look as
stupid as I possibly can, because that's how I feel deep down inside. But I can't have this happen
to the Arizona Diamondbacks, nor can any of you, right? So I don't know. I'm not going to go out there
and have you take up action and write your senator or write people or whatever. But what I will say
is that something needs to be done and some correct decisions need to be made. And they need to be
more sensible than just, you know, saying like, oh, well, the Diamondbacks have to figure it out.
like no at the end of the day the diamondbacks do not own chase field and quite frankly that building
needs to have things done to it in order for it to continue to be a venue for not just the diamondbacks
but for other events other concerts other mac and cheese festivals do you want this to be the only
mac and cheese festival that goes on down there i don't think you do i don't think you do nickel back
is coming to the hondo festival you really want to screw this up before nickelback has a chance
to play Chase Field, I don't think you do.
I don't have a picture because I was going to say,
look at this photograph, but I don't have one near me.
But what I will say is get this deal done, figure something out,
you know, make amendments and make it fair.
I do think that once they took out the player income
and the income of the people that worked there,
things started to be a little bit more reasonable, right?
Things started to fall back in line, right?
but again, like he said, the Diamondbacks, if you get a chance to watch this clip,
the Diamondbacks have, you know, are going to put more money than any of,
that's going to be generated by any of these bills into this building at the end of the day.
And I think that that's something to remember is that they're doing that for a building
that they don't even own, that if they sold the team, the building wouldn't even be part
of the deal, right?
So I just, I don't know.
I think it's, it's maddening, but it's not surprising.
surprising. I'm upset about it, but I also knew this was coming because I knew there was no way that
something like this was going to get done without people opposing it and without things getting nasty and
without, again, once one side starts to say no and affirm no, then the only choice, the only
recourse is to say, well, then the team is going to start looking for other options, you know, elsewhere.
And the team has not come out and said that. Nobody in the organization has, but, you know, when the
Arizona Chamber of Commerce President CEO is getting out there trying to remind people that this is a very real possibility.
It's because it's a very real possibility.
Candace, thank you so much for your super chat.
She says, Steve and I will do maintenance for free tickets.
We got it covered.
Perfect.
Perfect.
We're going to need you to start with the scoreboard.
I don't know what needs to be done about it, but it needs to be bigger and a more high definition.
And we need more of them like the Rangers have.
We need like three in different spots so that when you're sitting like the outfield seats or whatever.
you can also see the scoreboard we'll talk uh bring lots of supplies and about 12 million dollars at
least in starting capital for a lot of the uh things a lot of the equipment we're going to need we'll
go from there but uh again we need to make sure the dime back stay here that's the moral of the
story uh even though they lost today by score three to one and their offense sucked but uh we will
be back tomorrow with another 2 p m show i won't be here at home i will be at the studio with my guy kevin maybe i'll
drag damon in here to scream about some of these
losses and maybe also about these
terrible rumors about the Diamondbacks
may be moving. So join us at 2 p.m.
tomorrow for that show. Until
then, you can follow me on Twitter.
I'm at Kapp underscore Kedman with a K.
My guy Kevin is at Kev-O posts.
Our show is at PHNX underscore
D-Bax. But of course, as always,
all roads lead to at PHNX
underscore sports on Twitter, Instagram,
and Facebook. We thank you guys so much.
We love you for your time. Did
Kev, did I get all the super chats?
Oh, yeah.
Kevin wants to know, will I be turning heel on him this week because of the card series?
Well, I've already texted Shane and complained about you.
And that's just a preemptive strike.
So this is going to be a tough week for Kevin.
I'm going to be fairly relentless.
I'm going to make them work on Saturday just because.
So also, that's a big thing to remember.
We're going to do a postgame show on Saturday.
Make sure to join us for that.
And then no show on Monday because we actually get a day off at Memorial Day.
I hope you guys do too.
So we'll do the whole, let's have a good weekend thing later.
But until then, let's have a good night.
Love you guys.
I thank you so much for showing up for supporting this team.
Let's make sure they stay here and let's get this offense rolling.
Of course, like I said, we'll be back tomorrow.
Until then, have yourselves a wonderful evening.
Behave yourselves.
And I'm talking to you, Candace.
And of course, remember kids, baseball is fun.
But it is so much more fun when someone besides Ketel does something with the bat.
