Starting point is 00:00:00 We took over Chase Field. We ate all the glissies. And we saw Catelle Marte walk off the mother effing Dodgers. Turn all them cactus lights, baby. We are going live right now after this win. Woo! Into a special emergency podcast edition of the PHNX Diamondbacks podcast. Lodi Ok, presented by our friends in Circle K.
Starting point is 00:00:41 It is your mayor of PHNX, your mayor of the TARPS off. section occasionally known as Derek Montia. I am not alone. I have my drinking buddy with me tonight, the guy who was going glizzy for glizzy for me, uh, with me tonight. And your dog,
Starting point is 00:00:59 my dog, definitely the Damon's dog, uh, the Daback's dog tonight. Damon dog, aka Damon Farrell. I'm high off beating the Dodgers, Derek.
Starting point is 00:01:08 I don't need alcohol. I don't need drugs. I need Dodgers walk off winds. Injected into my veins. As I get to see all. these losers in their Otani jerseys, go home, sad. Cry about it. Get out of our stadium, you bunch of losers.
Starting point is 00:01:24 And guess what? Derek might run you over in his car on his way out, but that's a story for a different day. Look, let's just say Damon got a chance to see how the sausage was made tonight when it comes to getting from Chase Field to this building. But I welcome all of you no matter what team you root for. But if you're a fan of the Dodgers, you're a huge loser. And I'm talking to you, Speedster 2000. who came in here like some sort of hero to defend your poor franchise and Otani's name.
Starting point is 00:01:55 You're a loser and so is your team. Get out of our stadium and get out of our state. Diamondbacks wins a night by a score of three to two, walking off the goddamn Los Angeles Dodgers. And of course, it is Catele Marte that did it. Candice would like to point out, since she was present at our takeover, that Damon indeed called that Marte walkoff. Now, listen, do I say a lot of things during games?
Starting point is 00:02:24 Yes, I do. Do I call every single Pave and Smith at bat, a Pave and Smith legacy at bat? And then when he proceeds to get out naturally because it's Pave and Smith, I then look at the person closest to me and I say, that's it. It's over. Pave and Smith's done. But in this moment, I did tell Candace before the inning even started, could tell walkoff.
Starting point is 00:02:43 And meanwhile, while Damon was telling Candice, said it was going to be a walkoff by Catelle Marte. I was in the tarps off section. Yeah, shirtless with Baxter, just screaming FLA as loudly as we can. Baxter was also saying it. I don't care what he says.
Starting point is 00:03:01 He said, he said it. He said it. I heard him. We were all screaming it, and we all got to watch Cotel Marte hit that walk off home run. Just what a night.
Starting point is 00:03:11 What an incredible ending to this game. It was a close game. throughout, you know, a very low scoring affair. And Damon, I mean, most importantly, what happened here was the Diamondbacks, even though they got absolutely outclass last night, come back tonight, get the victory on a night when, you know, again, it was a very good starter for the Dodgers on the mound. They find a way to at least hang in this thanks to Ryan Nelson's amazing outing. And they, you know, get those runs late in order to.
Starting point is 00:03:46 to go ahead and win this game. Yeah, I mean, Ryan Nelson was fantastic tonight. But Derek, I want to talk about another superstar that we had in the building tonight. And his name is Ryan Hanley. And he's here in the chat. And Derek, I don't think you knew this. And I don't think you got a chance to figure this out because you were in the Tarps off section already. I did see Ryan after the game.
Starting point is 00:04:05 So we did get a chance we embraced. But here's the thing. Ryan Hanley, in fact, not only embraced me, Damon, he lifted me up like I was based. is dirty dancing and dirty dancing and we sput me around in a wonderful concourse filled with dodgers fans as we both laughed at their ridiculous jerseys and existence it was amazing yeah yeah yeah it ryan hanley completed a 999 challenge tonight Derek what a hero in the all you can eat section which was of course a a part of our takeover he he kept going and leaving for for you know the value beer he would come back, he would eat all of his glizzies. Look, and the guy didn't, he looked unfaced.
Starting point is 00:04:52 It wasn't an easy feat. It wasn't an easy feet. For him, it felt pretty easy because I was talking to the guy in the eighth inning and he's going, this is my last dog and he's laughing it down. I mean, this guy was an absolute superstar tonight, Derek. Incredible. The only person that outshined Ryan was was Catele Marte. That's fair.
Starting point is 00:05:09 I mean, we did have two good Ryan's out there. His name spelled properly. Ryan Nelson, Ryan Hanley, Catel Marte. That's my order of Kingsnake. Can we give Ryan Hanley a Kingsnake? I know you haven't done the graphic, but I feel like we should, right? Ryan Nelson, excellent tonight. Ryan Hanley, even better tonight.
Starting point is 00:05:27 But regardless, the Diamondbacks found a way to stick in this game, despite the fact the Dodgers went up two to nothing early in this one, putting up two runs in the fifth inning. A tremendous job, once again by Ryan Nelson, not Ryan Hanley, of holding this Dodgers team to just two runs. This is not an easy feat, you know, This Dodgers team is one of those teams that even when you feel like you're close with them, you can keep it close for a significant, you know, a significant portion of the game.
Starting point is 00:05:53 However, there just comes a time where all of a sudden their lineup is too much for you. The Otani was not in the lineup tonight. I don't care. He's ducking us. That doesn't affect me in any way, right? Like, I don't care. You can have your loser pitcher that's completely dismantled us last night, not in the lineup tonight. I'm not going to be sick.
Starting point is 00:06:12 He was scared because he knew what was happening tonight. Similar to what we talked about, Cetell. sat yesterday's game because he saw the gallon versus Otani writing on the wall. Correct. You could tell Otani knew what was coming his way tonight. And that was Ryan Nelson, 97 mile per hour fastballs up in the zone, nothing that Shohay Otani's ever seen before. So he said, coach, give me a rest.
Starting point is 00:06:34 I don't want to have anything to do with this series tying game that the Diamondbacks are about to pull off. And I want to say this, Damon, tonight's takeover, like, refilled my soul. Oh, that was, this felt like a real make or break for the season type of game. I don't know like why it felt that way, but it, you know, because obviously this team has a pretty good record. I think they're currently in a playoff spot as we speak. So it's crazy to be like, oh, if they lost, we're not going to do that. We're not going to do that.
Starting point is 00:07:00 We're not going to do that. Yeah. But like, with off the back of the Mariners sweep, off the back of the way that, you know, you lost on Tuesday. And then, of course, you get blown out yesterday. This game, if you lost this game, we talked about it on today's show. you were going to fall to one in six in this stretch against the Dodgers and the Mariners, which was terrible right after the back of, you know, playing really good baseball, your best baseball of the season against scrub teams like the Giants and the Rockies. So this game was huge because I think it gets you right back on track of feeling like, well, we could have easily beaten the Mariners, two games out of three.
Starting point is 00:07:35 We lost two games and extras. We split with the Dodgers who are on paper the best team in baseball. Absolutely. No question about it. Also split with the Atlanta Braves, which are. Kind of the other best team of baseball, right? And now you move on to the next series and you say, you know what? We're still playing some of the best baseball in all of Major League Baseball right now,
Starting point is 00:07:54 despite a little bit of a hiccup for what could have been a debilitating stretch. But I think you save it tonight and you get yourself some real momentum in the process. More importantly, if you watch today's 12 p.m. show, Ryan Hanley, the man who also completed the 9-99 challenge, also said, also said, Damon, that we were going to win. this game. Ryan Hanley was all in on a victory tonight. And again, he, he, he was a sick feeling about tonight as well. I was telling people that. And, uh, I put down money on Dback's money line. But unfortunately, Derek, the one Dodger I added to the parlay was the reason that I didn't cash it on bed three six five. Ironic, Damon. Also, I went for him in his horse teeth.
Starting point is 00:08:35 I got a Cotel Marte home run in my parlay. I had a, uh, less than one and a half runs being scored the third inning got that one but i did not get more than six and a half lousy runs being scored in tonight's game so it is what it is i guess but i will happily trade all of that in for a diamond back's victory no question could tell marty obviously came through for us in the biggest possible way that he could right but damon it wasn't just could tell marty i mean this this had a lot to do with the full effort of the team to keep this this game as close to as they did for as many innings as they did.
Starting point is 00:09:16 And more importantly, we also had a huge, huge controversial play when it comes to that son of a bitch Max Muncie. Good way of putting it. Like I'm not even going to mince words about it. Son of a bitch, Max Muncie,
Starting point is 00:09:33 fully, fully colliding into Ildamaro Vargas unnecessarily when this man had already gotten the first. I don't even understand it. I thought in baseball the collision play was over. What the f is this?
Starting point is 00:09:52 What is this? What is colliding with Ildamara Vargas and doing that shit? What is that? MLB needs to look into that tomorrow. And Max Muncie needs to be suspended tomorrow for what he did to not only his dumbass self, but to Ildomarovargas. That was egregious, Damon, and I am still so beside myself about what happened there, especially to, of all guys in baseball, ill tomorrow Vargas, one of the nicest, nicest goddamn guys
Starting point is 00:10:26 that exists, and you're going to go out of your way, out of your way, out of your way, when you were safe at the goddamn base to collide with him and cause injury to him and to yourself, you dumb shit. I've never, I've never liked Max Muncie, but I've never been more disgusted with him as a human being than what I saw tonight. I love it, Derek. I mean, this is, this, this is everything that I want this podcast to be. This is, if you woke me up and said, Damon, what's your dream podcast?
Starting point is 00:11:00 The Diamondbacks beat the Dodgers in walkoff fashion and we get to scream about what scumbags the Dodgers players are. The only part of this is that's unfortunate is that Il-Damaro, Vargas is unfortunately potentially very, very injured because he had Max Muncie, who's, you know, a freak running as fast as he can directly at him, B-lining for him. And for, Derek, for anybody that is a Dodgers fan that is out there claiming that this is, you know, a situation that was just unfortunate, this was unavoidable. Max Muncie didn't mean to hurt him.
Starting point is 00:11:34 How do you explain this picture? How do you explain that shit? How do you explain that? We can't show the video to you, but you can go watch it. You can see clearly. Ildamaro Vargas was built, beat to the bag. This was definitely on Ryan Nelson for not covering properly over there. But that's just Max Muncie being safe, Damon.
Starting point is 00:11:55 That is not the reason why this collision, this collision that you never see. When do you even see this in baseball? Never. Needed to take place. Never. I was ready. You're lucky I was so far away. That's all I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:12:11 I might have cost myself a press pass. Derek had to grab me and pull me back. I was jumping off of the third level, the second level to get down towards the field to go fight Max Muncie. But I mean, on a serious note, Derek, when you're running through first base, everyone knows that the runner veers off to the right, peels off to the right, that the, that you go through the bag straight. This is, I mean, it's clear as day. He's not going through the bag straight. Not at all. He's in fact, he's oriented his body to make contact with Ildemar Vargas, who is on clearly the insides part of the base path.
Starting point is 00:12:49 And so if you're sitting at this, looking at this picture and you're saying to yourself, man, that, you know, Max Muncie didn't do anything wrong. You are, you're just so delusional that you need to find a new sport to watch. And that's, sadly, that's how I feel about what a lot of Dodgers fans, Derek. It certainly feels like every time I'm having one of these discussions with them when it comes to implementing a salary cap and why the fabric of the sport is being destroyed. When you are paying the best player of all time, $2 million per year so that you can get to pay everybody else on your team, you know, you can pay Kyle Tucker who's the, you know, 75th best player in baseball, $60 million a year. Loser. People are trying to tell me that that's normal. People are now trying to tell me that Max Muncie running inside the bag and pulling a UFC move.
Starting point is 00:13:39 Derek, a tackle that in college football would have the refs run onto the field with after two seconds of looking at it and saying personal foul number 13 of the blue team. No doubt. Targeting. He is now suspended for the remainder of this half and the first half of the next game. No doubt. That's a targeting penalty in American football. Football. Think about that.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Yeah. And we have real life Dodgers fans that want to try to convince us that that's a baseball play. Yeah. You're out of your goddamn minds. Or more importantly, convince us that it's somehow Ildemarovar Vargas's fault when it absolutely isn't. You know why? Because Il-Demarovargas didn't initiate contact and also go like this with his goddamn arms when he collided with the other person. Like he was intentionally.
Starting point is 00:14:32 trying to do it. Oh, man. I don't care. Like, when you talk about the baseball gods impacting a baseball game, this is that moment. This is that moment where truth and justice prevailed and the Dodgers who didn't deserve to win this game did not win this game tonight. And that is because Max Muncie is a piece of garbage, honestly, and I have no problem saying that. The baseball gods did us right tonight, Derek. That's all that we have. we get to say at the end of the day. The baseball gods did us right. This was ethical hoops is what we like to call it in the business. If you go out there, you play the right way. You play debacks baseball, as Tori likes to say. You come out the other side with a W. Evil loses. It might not have the last
Starting point is 00:15:20 couple of seasons, but it will this year. Believe that. Hey, Damon, let's do, let's talk about this real fast. Speedster 2000 came into this chat as some sort of hero trying to defend, you know, the impoverished Dodger, you know, fan base, right? So let's do him a favor. Let's get him the hell out of here. I want him banned from our chat. I don't want to see his face ever again in here. Speedster, you're a loser. Go find yourself a Dodgers chat to go make all of your little fun comments in because you, Max Muncie, and your entire team are a bunch of jackasses. Let's move on to the Diamondbacks winning this baseball game. Corbyn Carroll, three for four tonight. We're a true hero with a home run, solo home run, got the scoring going for this team late in the eighth
Starting point is 00:16:10 inning. Finally, the Diamondbacks get a run on the board, and then they don't just get one, Damon, they get two. They get two runs late in the eighth inning after this game was a low-scoring affair where their offense once again wasn't able to put together complimentary baseball, and they finally break through there late in the game to tie this game up at two. And again, I mean, you can credit Corbyn for the home run. You can credit Cattel, which I'm going to take my shirt off before we get done with this show. So I'm definitely going to go tarps off. But I will say, really what it comes down to at the end of the day is Ryan Nelson going out there and pitching his ass off and holding the Dodgers to just two runs.
Starting point is 00:16:51 And the bullpen, Damon, the bullpen once again doing the goddamn thing. Brandon Garcia, one inning pitch, nothing. Paul Seawald, one inning pitched, one hit, two strikeouts for the kids, and the Diamondbacks win this one. Paul Seawald was nasty tonight. I mean, I know he gave up the double, but he came off the mound. He gave us a nice little flex as well. I mean, he was fired up and you love to see it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:20 I mean, I mean, again, though, but it's the W. You just can't say enough about what Cotel Marte has been able to do this season. I know Catelle has had his, you know, stretches of going cold. I think every hitter in baseball has that. I feel like Catell is so good that we see him be ridiculous for seven days. And then for three days, four days, he can't muster up much offense. And we're like, Cattel's broken. What the hell is wrong with him?
Starting point is 00:17:50 Right. I mean, Cotel never even had a walk off home run besides a softball game in the Dominican. before this. Right? And now... Before two weeks ago. I know. Now he has two of them.
Starting point is 00:18:03 Right? And we got to witness tonight's, which was the most amazing. Well, and both are just two of the hardest moments you'll ever see. You know, this one is... We didn't get the view of, like,
Starting point is 00:18:14 watching from the broadcast tonight. Obviously, being in person is much, much better. But on the broadcast, you get to see like the backflip a little bit better and whatnot when they show the replay. Yeah. I mean, it looked incredible. I'm going to go watch it right after we finish recording here.
Starting point is 00:18:27 I'm going to watch it for a little. 11 straight hours. Derek, he did the thing where he stands straight up and he just looks at everybody in the dugout. He just goes like this. He just goes, just with the most deadpaned face you've ever seen. Oh, man. That throws the bat 500 feet. The bat almost goes further than the baseball.
Starting point is 00:18:47 The ball almost went that far. 431 feet to left field. It was a no doubt. Our guy Ryan Hanley got amazing video of it, by the way. We were so close. From our, from our section. We were so close to it. hitting it to us. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:59 You were trying to hit it. You were, well, to you guys, I was in the tar shop section. True, you were gone. We were legitimately, Derek, not joking with you, about 30 feet inward,
Starting point is 00:19:08 obviously foul from that home run. I mean, it was, you know, the bourbon and bones cold cheeseburger section right there. And then the bar ass hot dog section right next to it.
Starting point is 00:19:18 I mean, that was, that was insane. Was that one pitch into that at AB? It was. It was one pitch into that. That's all you needed to see.
Starting point is 00:19:26 I mean, the idea to keep throwing lefties. relievers in high leverage spots against Catel Marte. It's insane. I mean, honestly, I'm surprised Cotel didn't feast. You and I both put, Dave Roberts. You and I both put Cotel Marte as home run candidates in our bets tonight. And we were both
Starting point is 00:19:45 fairly on point about that. And the big reason why was because of Robleski coming up there with being a left-handed pitcher, right? But yeah, I mean, you're not wrong. I mean, you got Brandon Garcia 0.75 ERA coming in to face three lefties like that. That was just disgusting. Someone in our chat asked
Starting point is 00:20:05 if anything was wrong with Brandon Garcia. I did not see anything in regards to that. I will say though that obviously being present at the game and being shirtless and hanging out with Baxter and my new best friends out there in the TARPS off section, that definitely
Starting point is 00:20:23 got me a little side tracked when it comes to everything but damon i mean if you wouldn't mind i think we do have um footage of my adventures up to the tarps off section if if you wouldn't mind let's let's see what that could tell marty walkoff looked from up there and three oh fun that's fire me up that's where i that's where i live now that's where i want to live that's just that's where i well derrick you told me it's where my heart is right now you told me uh ironically in the car car car ride back over where I've never felt more unsafe, I think, in my life. You told me that the TARPS Off community is the safest you've ever felt in your life.
Starting point is 00:21:23 It's the most accepted I've ever felt. I've never felt more welcomed by a community. I mean, Damon, let's just do this right now. I've never felt more welcomed by a community than the TARPS off community, David. These boys, they saw me coming. It was nothing but hugs and cheers. they were, they were ready. They were ready for the Cattel Marte walk off home run.
Starting point is 00:21:48 And we collectively as a group made that happen. You know what it feels like for you and I don't know, like a hundred of your new best friends to all collectively come together and will a home run to happen? It's the most magical thing I've ever been a part of in my entire goddamn life, Damon. And that's not the alcohol talking. Well, maybe it is. But it's also the fact that I'm sitting here shirtless for the second time in the existence of this show.
Starting point is 00:22:19 Sean says it's his first live shirtless mayor experience. And I got to say, there is a common theme here when it comes to Derek taking a shirt off on the show. Alcohol. Alcohol. Yeah, alcohol. Alcohol is definitely a part of the theme. Someone has to buy it a Buffalo Bills tattoo? Hell no.
Starting point is 00:22:36 That is a pro wrestling gorilla tattoo right there, buddy. I can't help myself. Yeah, I am blushing. Yeah, no, Damon's embarrassed in every possible way by me, but this is nothing new. I don't know if I'm new on this program. In fact, we might do more tarps off episodes after this one because the Arizona Diamondbacks are the best goddamn baseball team to ever play the game, right? Cotell Marte, though, again, like we said, you can't, you just can't say enough about what this man has done recently and just how clutch he's been. I mean, he's never even hit a home walk off home run.
Starting point is 00:23:09 his life and now here he has hit to everybody wants your shirt off everybody wants my shirt everybody wants your shirt off Derek i'm gonna i'm gonna give the people what they want first off but i just i want to tell some i want to tell people first off i'm very self-conscious Derek has much more of a of a better lighting situation than i look my light is like ice white so with my skin color this is not going to be for i'm also far past the point of caring about what people think of my body david it's true you're married i mean i'm sure you know at the this point like your your daughter probably cares more about oh she's gonna be she's gonna be so she's gonna be sick when she finds out that this happened she's gonna be sick unbelievable but you know
Starting point is 00:23:52 it's unbelievable fucking kettel martay could tell marty is unbelievable i mean do i do it now or do it at the very end of the no i mean i mean we're getting i'll do at the very end of the show well you got to make the people wait for it but you also got to give the people what they will i will yeah yeah um but anyway marty is unreal derrick yeah and i and i Not pitching to him with lefties. Actually, keep doing it. Keep doing it if you have a death wish. I'm just saying.
Starting point is 00:24:15 And again, he still has his struggles, right? Catelle's not perfect. He's still hitting 258 with the 77 OPS. But this moment, this moment was one of those moments where, I don't know. I guess the idea here is that when you are a fan of a very, very good team, you get into these late moments where a ballgame is tied. And the feeling is like, our guys are going to do it. tonight that felt that way when kattel came up it felt damon felt it in his bones we felt it in the tarps off section everybody felt like that katell was going to come up and he was going to do the goddamn thing
Starting point is 00:24:50 and kattel did it katell did it and i again i mean he was one for five tonight but he by far had the most important hit of the entire night uh and again it's also the fact that katell comes up and just absolutely blasts a what was it it was a first pitch right wasn't it was it Wasn't it one pitch? My God, 431 feet, a 97 mile per hour fastball from Tanner Scott to left field, gone out of here, 113 miles per hour off the bat. I mean, piss missile. Dude, it was just out.
Starting point is 00:25:23 It was out. And again, our guy Ryan Hanley had some of the most amazing footage of it. And AZ Catch G is right. I was sitting over with him for, you know, about a half frame. He was right next to the action right there. special. I'm just going to keep doing this the whole time. It also helps me cool off Damon because I'm a little hot from all of this
Starting point is 00:25:43 all the traffic that Damon and I sat in but overall again, this Diamondbacks team, impressive of what they've been able to do even when they get outclassed. Like they got outclass one night ago. Sure, Shoheyotani wasn't in the lineup tonight. Sure, whatever. It doesn't matter. Throughout
Starting point is 00:25:59 162 game season, there's going to be a lot of variables that cause wins and losses. The point is that the Diamondbacks need to get more wins than loss. and they need to try to make it into the postseason where at that point anything can happen. So I don't give a damn who was in the Dodgers lineup tonight. And I don't give a damn if it makes them less formidable. More importantly, the Diamondbacks were in a position, quite frankly, to win three out of four of these games.
Starting point is 00:26:24 They got their ass beat last night. There's no, Damon and I can't, Damon and I can't absolutely go around this and re, you know, format it to say like, oh, they had a chance last night. No, they did. it sucks that it was an automatic L it sucks Damon as you said that it was a scheduled L with Otani on the mound and moving Marta out of the lineup
Starting point is 00:26:44 right and this is the exact reason why even on a night where he was 0 for 4 Kattel is still the most dangerous hitter when it comes to that final at bat in the game and this is the reason why a lot of fans were upset that he wasn't in that lineup for game three right but yeah overall they take game one
Starting point is 00:27:01 they take game four and you could argue that they kind of let game two slip away from them and could have won it, could have won it. And I think that's why you have to feel decent about the momentum that's been accumulated still, despite the Mariners results and despite the, you know, the, the ass kicking that we had last night, you know, you easily could have beaten the Dodgers 3.1. You easily could have beaten the Mariners 2, 3. And then you'd be feeling on top of the world.
Starting point is 00:27:25 You'd be sitting there as one of the best teams in baseball if you had gotten those results. But as Ryan puts here in the chat, I think that the main storyline that comes out of tonight is Otani figured out that Damon was coming to the game and he ducked the smoke. Do we tell them about yesterday where you were supposed to also come to the game and then they like they circumvented you by throwing us the Corbin Burns news, Corbyrd's news. Like it was purposely like Damon was going to be at Chase Field at the same time as show Autonom got him press pass and everything. And then suddenly Gorbin Burns experiences an injury setback.
Starting point is 00:28:02 Sure. Sure. I'm supposed to explain. I'm supposed to believe that's just coincidence that there was some sort of event that kept us busy to keep Damon away from Chase Field while Joey Otani was there. I don't believe it for a second, Damon. I don't believe it. But Cesar in the chats, thank you for your super chat, says, had no idea. Derek had Pierce Nips.
Starting point is 00:28:21 It's a shock to a lot of people. You learn something new every single day, don't you? You really do. You really do. Shout out to do BMC, our guy, by the way, just became a supporters club member. Thank you so much to BMC. We thank you for being a part of this. Again, if you are sending us super chats, one, you know, one per month at least.
Starting point is 00:28:41 It's that that covers your supporters club membership. Johnny Walker says F. Max Muncie couldn't agree more with that sentiment. Thank you so much to my friend from kindergarten. Flea Ball says, why are Dodgers fans here? Go away. We don't like you. You couldn't be more right. Why are you here?
Starting point is 00:29:02 Oh, I'm sorry. Does your local podcast about your baseball team not take their tarps off? Sorry, that's not my fault. This is just what Damon and I bring to the Diamondbacks fan base, not your fan base. Oh, shit. That's incredible. The unbuttoned. That's something, Damon.
Starting point is 00:29:25 And now, I mean, I'm not going to take all the headset and the hat off. No, no, no, I get it. I get it. You got to unbuttoned. You got to go now. Woo! Cool bro, 297. Thank you for your super chat. He says debacks are second in National League West, but they're still number one in our hearts. Ryan Walschman. Ryan Walschman, two for four tonight. Corbyn, like I said, three for four with a home run.
Starting point is 00:29:57 And also, Geraldo P. Domo. I mean, let's talk about Jerry P. getting moved down to seven. This is what I was waiting to take my shirt off. Brother, two for four tonight. Would you mind writing the candle while you're at it maybe playing some smooth jazz in the background. We absolutely could make this sexy time. The risk king is home. Yeah, the risk king is back. He's back. Put his crown on his head, two for four tonight with an RBI. And honestly, just a big part of that very important, you know, inning where Corby got that solo home run and Jerry helped score that second run to tie it up at too late and give this team a chance to come in and walk it off in the ninth inning. So I, you know, the thing that
Starting point is 00:30:34 I hate about this is like, I don't even really want Perdomo to be moved. and like I kind of love, and I told you this during the game, I kind of love the fact that sometimes when we get into those situations where, you know, they're down the lineup, that perdomo is a part of it. That perdomo, you know, is there available. In that moment, he was perfect in that spot. Because we were talking about it. It would have been like Pavin Smith, who else, Jose Fernandez and then Tommy Troy. And it's like, you just don't love those three down there right now with the way they're
Starting point is 00:31:05 performing. And that's no offense to Tommy Troy because he, quite frankly. frankly is the better of the three. Damon, see, Damon, Damon's still adjusting the life with Tarps off. I live life, tarps off. I live life being raptured as well. You know that around here, folks.
Starting point is 00:31:26 I always get raptured, and then they never actually take me up. It's just, it's just a joke, and then they just send me back down. But Damon, Damon's gone. See, Damon's the one that got rapture. Derek, I think that for me, the part where I was laughing was just the idea that you wanted to have serious baseball
Starting point is 00:31:45 while we're just both shirtless on this stupid podcast. Sometimes when you have him back further in the lineup, he gets up in these spots where he can come through for you in these big moments. Yeah, Derek, I agree. I think more of that perdomo and we'll win a lot more baseball games. That's what I'm going to go with. That kiss is for flea ball who says, I hope my girlfriend doesn't walk into me.
Starting point is 00:32:08 watching this podcast, two shirtless dudes. Maybe that's the name. Maybe that's the new podcast, Damon, just two shirtless dudes. I don't know, but Zabe thinks the vibes are immaculate, and I'm going to have to agree with her when it comes to the vibes. The vibes are definitely immaculate. After not only getting to enjoy the night, Damon and I with so many of our diehard friends and just in general, Dibak's friends that came out to be a part of our takeover, but also just to
Starting point is 00:32:34 see this team have the fight that they had in them tonight. Let's not forget what Tori Lavallo said prior to this game, Damon. I mean, it was very prophetic when he was asked about, I think it was Jody Jackson asked Tori before the game. Basically, what is your team going to do to fight back? After losing 7 to nothing last night, what the hell is this team going to do to fight back? You know what he quoted, Damon?
Starting point is 00:33:05 He quoted the movie Apollo 13. and he quoted, of all people, Ed Harris, as Apollo 13 engineer, I think, Gene Krantz. He said, I think today is going to be our finest hour. Can Tori tell me how I'm going to die? Because I would like to know how I'm going to die before I die. It feels like this man is a prophet, and I indeed feel like today was, in fact, their finest hour. When you beat the Dodgers by one run in a low-scoring game, it's hard to not feel. you know, energized.
Starting point is 00:33:41 And it's hard not to feel like this team is back all the way back, Damon. After one game removed where we were in fact all the way out. Top G says, my Derek is Montiad after seeing these two shirtless. Hell yeah, it is. Hell yeah. Your Derek has never been more Montia. And Stanley 299 says, why the tarps off? Why the hell not, Stanley?
Starting point is 00:34:08 Number one, Derek was in the Tarps off section, you know, holding court, doing mayor stuff. Well, I saw, I mean, my brothers were out there, Damon. My brothers were shirtless, and I looked at them, and I said, I have never needed to join a tribe of human beings as much as I need to join this truck. And number two, peer pressure. That is true. Damon looked at me and said, chug your drink because the guy at the door told me I couldn't take my drink with me. true. I couldn't let it go to waste like that. And I did chug my drink. I did chug a beatbox, which still explains why I'm sitting here right now in front of you.
Starting point is 00:34:45 Same said, how do we get bully snakes territory into going tarps off? You think we can get Jack and Jesse to go tarps off there? Jack, definitely. Jack can't wait to go tarps off. Are you kidding me? Jack, let's go, buddy. I'm ready for you. See, Sean agrees. I said Jack might, but I don't want to bully Jesse into it. No, there's nothing. Our sweet, sweet Jesse. No, no, no, no. We love it. him but uh you know what bees says spicy jerry p is back thank you so much for the super chat uh bees and again thank this diamondbacks team right uh this this this baseball season is weird right like it really is it goes so quickly over 162 games from you being like oh they lost two the entire season is over to being like oh they won one via walkoff we're going to win the world series right
Starting point is 00:35:31 like that that's that's really what it feels like but i think it feels more like that for this back's team considering how all over the place they truly are, right? Like, Corbyn Burns injury completely depressed me yesterday, Damon. And then today we get Corbyn's media availability, and he fired me up more than ever when he was like, I'm going to be back as fast as I humanly can. And then someone else asked Corbin Burns, are you going to pitch again this season? He didn't even hesitate to say, yes, I am. Yes, I am.
Starting point is 00:36:07 It wasn't like, we'll see or I don't know or the doctors, whatever. No, Corbyn Burns is like, I will be out there and I will be pitching and we are going to win a goddamn world series, right? And I'm not quoting him there, but that was the energy he was bringing as far as I was concerned, right? And that's difficult energy to bring when you just got devastating news. Corbyn Burns was supposed to make his first rehab start tomorrow. Can you imagine that missing 11 months due to Tommy John surgery? and you are going to make your rehab start tomorrow and you get shut down due to a terrorist major strain, it's devastating, Damon.
Starting point is 00:36:47 And I know there's nothing Corbyn Burns can do to heal faster, right? But what he can do is he did say that the time to ramp up is much shorter from this terrorist major strain than it is from Tommy John. So he's not starting back over at zero. And he was confident that not only will he back. be back for September, but if you looked in Corbyn Burns' eyes without even saying it, he was like, I'm going to be back in August. And I hope that's the case. I don't know if it's true.
Starting point is 00:37:17 I don't know if the medical staff will allow it. But deep down in my heart, I hope it's true because it feels like Corbin Burns returning with a month to get himself back to playing Major League Baseball will be a game changer for this team should they be able to reach the playoffs. Let's land this plane, Derek. It's time, it's been a long, long day. It's time. We've been drinking a lot. I mean, what are we yet? 38 minutes.
Starting point is 00:37:42 I can't believe we went that long. S. Kittle 1-28. We talked about on the show today. I know. I know. I'm just still ready to go. Says Derek level up. S. Kittle 1-28 says, Derek, level up your tarps off with glow sticks hanging
Starting point is 00:37:54 from your piercings. I had a friend who did that at all parties. This is Sharon, by the way. She's a big. Yeah, I love Sharon. Sharon. What's your friends at? I'm just curious.
Starting point is 00:38:05 Instagram or don't, don't. Okay, I'm sorry, David, you're right, go on. Flea Ball says this game was a roller coaster of emotions. First, sad and depressed, then scared, then happy and pumped. Excited for this weekend, especially taking on this Washington Nationals team with Kelly E. Rod Soroka. Thank you so much. Flea Ball. Cool bro says so many Dodgers fans in line to get the Mexican Heritage jersey.
Starting point is 00:38:26 I had to get a size down. Luckily, it fit. But as if I needed another reason to hate, great, great point. And then our guy George, who was there at our takeover tonight. Shout out to George. Thank you for coming through. Appreciate you, bro. Appreciate the Super Chat.
Starting point is 00:38:41 George was wondering where the party was going next, Derek. Oh, the after party? I was like, unfortunately, I wish Derek was here. He might have a better answer for you, but. I mean, it was. It was happening in the Tarps off section. That's really what happened. We love you guys so much.
Starting point is 00:38:55 We thank you guys for joining us for this emotional. We made more Super Chat money than we've made all season because we took our shirt. You know what? Maybe next time we'll also be shirtless. Equals causation in this circumstance. I'm not against it, right? I'll do whatever I need to do to pay the bills around here. But we love you guys so much. We thank you guys for stopping by. And more importantly, we love you for being Arizona Diamondbacks fans. You can follow me on Twitter. I am at cap underscore K-man with a K, though I promise you.
Starting point is 00:39:23 I won't post any shirtless pictures of myself. Damon, meanwhile, that's still up for debate. He is at Damon Dog with the DAWG. We're all Damon's dogs. Bark, bark. Our show is at PHNX underscore D-Backs, but all roads do lead to at PHNX underscore sports on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. We thank you guys so much for your time. And more importantly, we thank you for bullying us into taking our shirts off on the show.
Starting point is 00:39:46 Though I didn't, I needed very little convincing and Damon needed all of the coaxing that he could get. Cool, bro said second date was success. Third date on Saturday with the Corbyn Carol Baville. Cool, bro. If that doesn't say sexy time. Oh. If Corbyn Carol 30-30 bobblehead doesn't scream sexy time at you, I don't know what it does. Like what we there, if you guys get, if you get the 30 home run and she gets the 30 stolen bases, it was meant to be. It was meant to be. It's, it's a forever connection. But. And then they just form perfectly together. Yeah. Scottie Max is right. Scotty Mac, by the way, also a stud and a legend and a handsome man. He says sometimes the nips just got to breathe. And that's. the case on this podcast. So we thank you guys so much for stopping by. We appreciate your time.
Starting point is 00:40:35 And more importantly, go snakes. We'll be back here tomorrow, believe it or not, or later today. Is it after, no, it's not after 12 p.m. Tomorrow, I still get some sleep. So join us then. We'll be doing another post game show after game one of the Washington National Series. Until then, behave yourselves. Bees, as always, you troublemaker, and remember kids, baseball is fun, but it is so much more fun when you go full on Terps off, baby! Fuck you, Max Muncie.
