It's rivalry weekend in Major League Baseball.
So, of course, the Arizona Diamondbacks are taking on their well-known rival,
the Colorado Rockies.
We're going to talk about whether or not this is an actual rivalry,
and we are going to preview the upcoming series with our guy, Christian, from DNBR.
Don't you go anywhere?
We're starting in 30 seconds.
And welcome in to another edition of the PHNXD Back podcast live from Studio K,
presented by our friends in Circle K.
My name is Derek Montia, occasionally not.
As your mayor of PHNX, I am here once again with my guy, Kevin Thomas,
occasionally known as large intimate.
And when I say occasionally, I mean, I'm literally the only person that calls him that.
However, I'm waiting for it to catch on.
Thrilled to have you guys here, thrilled to be previewing this weekend series
with the Arizona Diamondbacks well-known rival, the Colorado Rockies.
And I'm going to keep being probably a little bitch about that the whole time,
but I can't stop because this is a little crazy to me.
But again, welcome in to this podcast.
And I'm very excited to be joined by our guy, Christian Sayez, from DNBR, to talk about this upcoming series.
Christian, thanks for coming on, buddy.
Appreciate you being here.
I appreciate you taking the time to talk about this Colorado Rockies team that has had a rough season so far.
Oh, and what a team they are this year, Derek.
Appreciate you having me, man.
I'm excited, right?
I mean, I feel like it's one of those situations where, you know, I actually get to watch.
watch baseball this year without any pressure at all because the team is so bad that the pressure
has left the room, you know, weeks ago. So, you know, there's a lot of pressure on you guys.
I'll say that, but I'm excited to be here. Yeah, there is a lot of pressure all the time.
It feels like that pressure came from the 2023 World Series run and has not alleviated since then.
I kind of joke, Tori Lovelo has tried to take it and call it different things and reshape it.
He talked about it becoming a standard instead of expectations, but regardless of what you call it, it is pressure.
That's exactly what it is.
And yeah, you're right.
I mean, there is that.
Now, how are the fans taking it?
I know how Diamondbacks fans take anything after loss and it's the end of the world.
I imagine that Rockies fans knew this team was going to be bad.
I know that a big part of the, I guess, approach or fan thought process has been wanting this team to be sold to a new owner that would actually
try to manage it in a way to make it a winning franchise. But what are the vibes like with
the Rockies fans right now? It's been really weird because I think at first, you know, when fans
started to realize how bad this team was, there was a bit of an apathy situation that we had on
our hands where, you know, the fans kind of just checked out and said, you know what, I don't really
care. Same story we've heard for years. And to be fair, we're in the middle of a Denver Nuggets,
Nuggets playoff run. We had the abs in the playoffs, you know, just a few weeks ago.
You know, NFL draft is coming up. Like, there's other big things that are happening around
the sports world right now. And so I think the fans kind of checked out. But now we've started to
see how historically bad, not just bad, but historically bad the Colorado Rockies are.
And so I think fans are starting to get to this place where we're like, you know what,
if we're actually going to get meaningful change from an organization that is historically
super, super stubborn and kind of does things as if they're still in the early 2010's system-wise,
you've got to almost be really bad.
So I wouldn't say we're rooting for like the team to tank,
but there is this sort of energy shift that I've noticed where fans are kind of like,
hey, if there's going to be meaningful change, we need to kind of keep going down this path.
We have to hit rock bottom if we're not already there.
And so it's been kind of weird.
It's not a great place to be in.
But hey, you know what?
It's at least kind of entertaining.
I guess I'll spin it that way.
You're right.
And I can understand that.
Like when we started doing this podcast,
the Diamondbacks were at the end of one of the worst seasons in franchise history.
A lot of people didn't think Tori Lavello was going to make it through as manager and keep his,
you know,
keep his job much longer.
There was a big improvement in 2022.
And then 2023,
they go on this incredible Cinderella run during, you know, the postseason and make the world series, right?
So I do think that I can understand where you're coming from in the place that it is kind of better at one point to be so bad that changes are needed rather than to dwindle in mediocrity, right?
And of course, that's kind of what fans feel like kind of is happening at times here with the Diamondbacks, despite the fact that there's been continued improvement.
Bud Black did suffer the repercussions, though, of this team being as bad as it was,
having the record, having the historically bad start that it had.
Does he deserve that?
It feels like the sentiment is that he was kind of the fall guy for this.
Yeah, I personally don't think he did.
I know some fans feel like he was the veteran coach, you know, a guy who leaned too heavily
on his veterans when they were in this youth movement phase.
But to be honest, veterans, youth movement, whatever the Rockies are doing, it sucks.
and Bud Black was, I kind of put it this way.
Bud Black was given the keys to a sinking ship.
And it's not the captain's fault that the ship is sinking.
It's the person who built the ship in the first place.
That's why it's sinking.
So the situation with Bud Black is just unfortunate.
Now, I will say it needed to happen, right?
You have to make at least surface level changes when you start the season in the way the
Rockies have.
But what I was alluding to earlier when I was talking about, hey, you know,
if the Rockies are going to hit rock bottom this year and that's going to
forced changes. The changes that I'm hoping for go beyond just the surface level. Yeah, we fire
the manager. We fire the hitting coach. You know, all those kind of things are just normal,
kind of byproducts of having a losing season. It needs to go beyond that at this point. I mean,
the Rockies, and I said this earlier, the Rockies are an organization that systemically is set up
as if we're operating two decades ago. You know, we are information and technology and statistics and
research and all of those departments are decades behind the rest of baseball. And for some reason,
people in the organization sit there and think, you know what? Things are going great. Things are
working just fine. And so it's like we have to almost hit this rock bottom for them to open their
eyes and see, oh, you know what? This actually really sucks. And we need to actually make some bigger
changes. So hopefully those are coming up. But Bud Black happened to be the early fall guy, at least
start. Well, and who's to blame? Is it essentially come down to ownership in the way that they want
things led? I mean, because I would feel like having changes, and obviously you have an interim
manager in place. It's Warren Schaefer, right? That's who is the manager for now. How has his
transition been? I mean, does he seem to be at least doing anything differently? Or is this just
someone taking over and like you said, like they're going to hold the,
wheel, but they're not really changing any kind of course on this ship. They're not doing anything
to tell the people on deck to move differently or do different jobs. We're just holding on to this
wheel until we get to the end. The way I look at it is, and Dave Roberts kind of put it in a funny
way, but when Bud Black was fired and their buddies, so he was defending his friend, Bud Black,
when Bud was like, oh, and he said, you know, even Casey Stangle couldn't have righted this ship,
right and if you put dave roberts or tary lovela or who insert you know good quality coach name here
the the ruckies are going to have the exact same outcome maybe give or take one or two games but the
outcome's relatively going to be the same that's the situation that warren shafer's in so i mean i could
go out there and coach the ruckies and it would look relatively the same man like it it just that's so
far from what the issue is in the colorado rickies organization so yeah
Well, I mean, the big issue is that it seems like this is an organization that makes plenty of money,
but doesn't turn around and spend it on their ball club.
The fans, like you said, it seems from what I've seen, the tide seems to be turning.
Fans are encouraging other fans to not attend games and to try to essentially show the organization with your wallet that you do not approve of the way things are going.
But that's kind of been the problem with the Rockies is that regardless of,
of their performance on the field, people show up and they hang out and they have a great time at
their games and the attendance numbers are always really good. But I mean, again, it feels like
this is the season that maybe things are starting to take that next step from the fans.
Well, see, it's funny because you mentioned, you know, the Rockies make a lot of money,
but they don't go out and spend it on the ball club. And actually, if you go back and look at the
breakdowns of how much money the Rockies spend each year,
year compared to other teams. And maybe it's changing this past year just because of the payroll
cuts that we were going through this last offseason. But every year before that, the Rockies have
been kind of in the middle, if not even towards the higher end of spending across major league
baseball. The issue is they spend it in the dumbest ways possible, right? You go and you, you, you know,
drop almost $200 million on Chris Bryant, who, anyone who knows baseball, when that decision was made,
when that move was made, could have told you,
hey, even if at best you get a couple good years out of Chris Bryant,
that the potential of what he provided was not worth the contract that he was given.
You know, you had Ian Desmond that was signed, you know, a few years before that.
Then obviously the Nolan Aeronado trade that was made,
although it wasn't a signing,
the Rockies basically gave Nolan Aeronado away to the Cardinals with $50 million.
It's the business decisions from a baseball perspective
that have put the Rockies in the hole that they're in right now.
And that's where it goes back to the organizational faults that we're finding ourselves in.
So the money spending isn't the problem, although I will say that is going to become a problem here pretty soon because I think fans are starting to take notice.
And outside of, you know, the Dodger series, the Cubs series where, you know, Dodger fans are coming into Coorsfield or Cubs fans are coming into Coorsfield and packing the stadium, when we play you guys or when we play, I don't know, a team that doesn't have as many fans in Denver,
specifically, it's, it's pretty empty, man. We're, we're getting 15,000 to 20,000 fans.
And for our standards, that's, that's pretty rough. So we're starting to notice some changes
financially for sure. Right. And, and yeah, I guess that, that's well said. It's not a matter of
them not spending money. It's a matter of them not spending their money well. And, I mean,
I've, I've applauded the Diamondbacks for the fact that they have some pretty savvy contracts.
You know, they extended Ketel, they, they had a contract extension for Alder Pardom.
I mean, when they extended Corbyn Carroll and signed him to a long-term deal, even then, it didn't seem like it was a bad deal.
It seemed like it was a pretty smart deal.
Now, considering he has a rookie of the year under his belt, and right now his second Major League Baseball in home runs, that deal looks better and better every single day.
So, I mean, yeah, sometimes it is about the way that you're spending money and not necessarily how much you're spending.
but this Rockies team, I mean, again, in the past, they had some very good teams.
They locked in players like Todd Helton and guys for a very long time.
Like, it just, it seems like this over the last, I don't know what, maybe five years
plus has been kind of a change of philosophy almost.
But again, this Rockies team is kind of at a point where it doesn't really feel like
you can even see some excitement on the horizon for the future, right?
I mean, you guys have some great young players, though.
Some of your outfielder, some of your guys have been, I mean, at least look like they were turning into some superstars in Major League Baseball.
The arms out there are incredible.
We're definitely envious of the arms you guys have out there.
Yeah, it's interesting because, so we just talked about the fact that the Rockies have made some really bad decisions contract-wise.
Now, I will give them some credit.
They have made a couple good decisions contract-wise.
When Ezekiel Tovar, you know, came in, he looked like he was going to be the star that he has turned out to be.
They locked him into a, I believe it was seven-year deal pretty early.
And he's continued to blossom.
He's hurt right now, which is obviously not great for us.
But, you know, he'll continue to be a good player long term.
But the other side of the coin for the Rockies that has really put them in a hole is that because the Rockies don't shell out consistently big,
contracts, aside from that Chris Bryant one, they have kind of shaped themselves as this draft and
development organization. They have literally said that as this is our identity. We are a draft
and development organization that will sometimes sign a big name free agent to kind of supplement
the drafting and development. But again, if you go and look at basically the rankings of where
the Rockies are in terms of drafting and developing across Major League Baseball, they are one of the
worst teams historically at drafting and developing. So they're kind of sitting there saying,
hey, this is what we're this what we do really well. And on the flip side of that, they actually
do it very, very poorly. There was an MLB executive that that was quoted in an article that just
came up, I believe it was a couple days ago that said the Rockies actually make things worse for
prospects in their system than they do make things better. They said they said agents actually request
more, you know, bigger draft signing bonuses basically if their client's going to go sign with the Rockies, man.
It's bleak and the optics are really tough.
So long term, I don't really know how the Rockies claw their way out of this.
I think at least on paper, the closest thing I can think of at this point is to basically create a president of baseball operations position for the Colorado Rockies.
Because right now it goes, you know, Dick Monfort, who's the owner of the team,
and then below him is the general manager.
And Dick Mumford kind of has his hands in pretty much all of the baseball decisions.
I think there needs to be some separation there to give more baseball-minded people a chance to make decisions long term.
But it's a long road to recovery for our team out here in the Mile High City.
See, that's crazy to me.
And again, I don't know much about the Rockies owner.
But what I will say is that's a lot of hubris, right?
That's a lot of, like, I know better than everybody.
So I don't need people to advise me.
I don't need to bring in great baseball minds to help me with parts of this game.
I don't know.
Or, again, I mean, like, I don't know.
I'm pretty good at things in life.
I won't, but I don't think there's anything I do without consulting with other people.
I consult with my wife.
I consult with Kevin, my producer on pretty much everything we do on this show.
like just to have another voice and just to have another opinion kind of tell you if you know whatever right like if if everything is going from the owner directly to the general manager i imagine that there is very little you know discussion in regards to things that he wants the general manager to do i feel like that's just a boss subordinate relationship orders come down from the top you execute them and then go on and i mean again in today's modern modern day of baseball that might
be the exact problem with this franchise.
Again, when you talk about those
the scouting and stuff, right?
Like, that's, that's, that's people you hire
and you put the right people in place
so that you can find the best young prospects.
And, you know, I understand where you're,
where you're coming from with the Rockies.
The Diamondbacks are exactly like that.
In order to compete with this NL.S,
the Diamondbacks don't have the money
the other teams do and they're never going to.
So the only way they can compete is by drafting well,
developing those players and then once they have something successful, like they found that they were
starting to build in 2022, supplementing it with free agents and adding those guys that you think
might be that key to getting you to that next step and making you a competitive baseball team,
right? And again, the development happened faster for the Diamondbacks than I think any of us
imagined. However, it's, it's that you got to start with a team like this with a team like the Rocky.
You've got to start with the basics and that is the farm system. Yeah, well, and it's strategic, right?
And you have to give your front office, the people who make those decisions, the agency to have confidence to make those decisions.
And a perfect example of this is, you know, just a couple days ago, before Bud Black was fired, our general manager, Bill Schmidt goes out on the record after the Rockies get pounced 21 to nothing against the Padres and says, hey, we have full faith in Bud Black as our manager moving forward.
And then 24 hours later, he announces that he's fired Bud Black and they're moving on.
And what that looks like to me is, hey, you're not going to go on record and say, hey, you know, I'm defending Bud Black.
He's our manager long term.
If you know that 24 hours later, you're going to fire him.
And you're also not waking up that next day saying, you know what?
Today I'm going to fire But Black.
That came from above him.
That was Dick Mumford, in my opinion, from my perspective.
That was a decision where Dick Mumford came and said, you know what?
winner loss we're firing
Bud Black. And so it's like they're stepping
on each other's toes and
it just doesn't look good, man. So yeah,
you guys need to, from your perspective,
you need to sweep us over the next three
game. Like if it
doesn't happen, if we
take one, even two games out of this series,
it should be considered a colossal
failure on your best part.
Well, not so fast
because we sometimes play down to our
opponents for sure. And we often
overlook teams that we shouldn't be
overlooking. But yeah, no, I mean, overall, I look back again, I brought up Corbyn Carroll, right?
Currently second in Major League Baseball in F-WR at 2.8 behind Aaron Judge, right? This is a guy who has played,
this is courtesy of our friends over at DBAC stats and info. In 388 career games, he has a 12.2
offensive war, and he's already ranked ninth in franchise history, currently tied with Stephen Drew at 12.2.
So there is a guy that they that they drafted and has become a superstar, right?
And then you also have, right, Catelle Marte right now, who big hero from yesterday,
he hit two bombs, just returned from his hamstring injury since returning.
Five of his eight hits this season have been home runs.
And he's currently two home runs away from passing one Christian Walker on the Diamondbacks
all-time home run list.
But both of those guys are guys that they acquired that you didn't know if they were going to work out.
Catele-Marté wasn't even the
centerpiece of the trade with the Mariners
in which we got him.
Corby and Carroll was a guy
that a lot of people just considered to be a speedy outfielder, right?
And now, you know, through the development,
through the process, you have these guys
becoming, you know, essentially the MVP's of the franchise
and it's all because of scouting
and identifying talent at a young age.
And again, that's the only way we can survive.
That's the only way we can survive, Christian.
It's the only way the Rockies can survive,
but it really sounds like that is a mess going on over there.
At least you guys have the Nuggets and, you know, the Avalanche.
Because I was in awe.
I pulled a hamstring myself the other night
while me and Kevin were watching the Nuggets game
because I had never seen being a Suns fan.
I don't remember when the last time I saw such clutch basketball
at the end of a playoff game where both teams were just hitting threes back and forth
that it was just like a heavyweight fight.
So at least you guys have that.
But we're going to take a quick break here.
And on the other side of this break,
we're going to talk about the probable pitchers.
And we're going to discuss rivalries.
And if this is actually a rivalry, it might be.
We do have some evidence to back that up.
But of course, you're watching the PHNX Diamondback show.
Don't you go anywhere.
Of course, shout out to pure edibles.

But I need myself a polar pop right now.
This is only water.
I know it's only water,
but I could definitely use a very, very tall, frosty beverage.
I don't know how the weather is like there in Denver, Christian,
but it's already hot here.
Actually, it's been unseasonably nice,
but that makes me fear for when the hot weather comes here,
that it's going to be worse than it ever has been.
Yeah, sorry to upset you, but it's about 75 degrees and...
Oh, shut up. I don't want to hear any more of it. I don't care.
I will say, though, I could definitely use some pure edibles after watching these Rockies, man.
Yes, yeah, that's a great way to take the edge off.
Exactly. I need something to help me get through those games, man.
Yeah, well, let's take a look at the probable pitching matchup.
Maybe you can give us some insight here.
We got Corbyn's going in game one against TBD.
Has there been any announcement?
at all in regards to who's going to start tomorrow's game.
I can tell you pretty much who I'm guessing is going to be there.
I think it's going to be Carson Palmquist.
Now, Carson Palmquist, I'm getting some stats up on him real quick.
Carson Palmquist will be probably making his major league debut tomorrow.
That is my guess.
It has not been confirmed at this point, but I do think that's coming up here pretty soon.
He's pitched pretty well in the minor so far.
He was kind of rehabbing coming back from injury.
this last off season, but he's sitting around a three, about a three ERA in the minor.
So I don't think he's going to give you guys too much trouble, but he has never pitched in the majors yet.
Again, that's not confirmed yet, but that is kind of the rumor going around.
That means he's going to go six-inning strong without allowing a run.
That's what that means to us.
See, all the people in the chat already can feel it happening.
Sean says, so you're telling me we're going to get shut out.
Jake, he says, uh-oh, is that's how we feel.
That's how we know.
We know that whenever there's a guy that we should absolutely wreck,
we don't seem to have a game plan for,
and we can't figure him out.
You put in one of the best pitchers in baseball,
and somehow, you know, we rock Yamamoto for like five run.
So it never makes sense with this team.
And, of course, the starting pitching for the Diamondbacks
really hasn't made a heck of a lot of sense this year.
If you throw that probable pitching graphic backup,
we have Corbyn, Zack Gallen, and Merrill Kelly going in the series.
And to be honest with you,
the Diamondback should dominate the series against the Rockies
with those three guys going in the series.
There shouldn't be a doubt about the Diamondbacks
not only winning the series but sweeping it.
However, Zach Gallen has been very inconsistent this year.
Corbin Burns really feels like he's gotten things out on track
and Merrill Kelly has been fantastic outside of one outing this season.
So again, it feels like the starting pitching matchup
is an advantage for the Diamondbacks,
but as does everything else in this series.
And again, I mean, is it to the point that Rocky's fans are rooting more for losses than wins?
Like, is it more helpful at this point that they just lose?
I think there are a lot of fans who are.
I was saying this on my show yesterday that, you know, I'm kind of in the middle because I obviously love baseball.
And this is the baseball that we have.
So I'm going to root for, you know, the team for what I have.
So I kind of put it this way.
Like I'm going to celebrate the wins and the individual achievements.
If someone goes off and has a great game, I'm going to be pumped for them.
You know, I hope that the players individually play well.
There's a lot of really good guys in the clubhouse.
But from a change standpoint, I also am very aware that for this very stubborn organization
that we are part of to change long term, they have to really hit rock bottom.
So I'm kind of in a win-win at this point, you know.
That must make watching baseball games way more fun than whatever the hell it is when we watch
this bullpen pitch.
but I guess the big question here is it's rivalry weekend.
I've kind of been teasing it, joking about it a little bit.
But are the Diamondbacks and Rockies even rivals?
I do know that there is the clash for the battle of the colored purple.
So obviously that is definitely a big factor here.
But upon looking about it, you know, they are division rivals.
I mean, this entire rivalry thing this weekend seems to be geographic, right?
Like none of these rivalries are actually the biggest rivalries.
You don't have the Yankees versus the Red Sox.
You don't have Mets versus Phillies.
You just have teams that are in the same city or close to each other,
playing each other.
So that's why it ends up being the Rockies and the Diamondbacks.
But, I mean, I guess looking upon it,
and the Diamondbacks don't have very much playoff history.
And I'm sure you can relate to that as well.
But in the history of the playoffs,
the Diamondbacks really just have a couple of teams
that they've met up with more than once.
in the postseason, and the Rockies are one of those teams.
There was the infamous 2007 NLCS where the Rockies swept the Diamondbacks four to nothing,
and then the 2017 Wildcard game with Archie's triple and that one game that the Diamondbacks won.
So, I mean, I have poked fun at it.
I did it yesterday, but it actually isn't that outrageous that the Diamondbacks and Rockies are kind of, you know, rivals here.
Well, you may, I mean, you just set it up perfectly.
the fact that in both of our team's very short playoff existence, you know, long term, historically,
we've played each other a couple times.
That alone, I could count on both of my hands, the amount of teams that the Rockies have played in the playoffs.
And, you know, so the fact that you guys also reside in our division.
And, you know, I'll just say that we're kind of in the same area as you in the standings.
Now, don't look at the games back.
that though. Don't you dare do that. How dare you? How dare you? We might be close to each other,
but we're not close to each other and you know that. But who are the Rockies actual rival? Do you guys
have a team that you actually consider to be your rival despite what that team? Like there's always
the big brother little brother thing, right? And you know, of course when we think of rivals,
we obviously think of the Dodgers. And that's because again, we've met up with the Dodgers a couple
of times in the playoffs, but just twice as well. There's no team the Diamondbacks has matched up
with more than two times in the postseason. So those teams almost automatically kind of enter into
the conversation for being some of the Diamondbacks biggest rivals. It's the Dodgers for us, too.
And it's embarrassing to say because of how bad we are and how good the Dodgers are. But
it is the Dodgers just because they're the big bad, you know, beast in the NOS. And also we were
this close to winning the division however many years ago.
And that probably was the last time we'll ever get a chance to do it.
If I'm being completely honest, I think, you know, at this point,
Rockies are fighting for a wildcard spot, if that, you know, moving forward.
So it has to be the Dodgers.
But I really think any of the teams in the NOS,
just because of how competitive this division is,
and I know you guys feel the same way,
this division is arguably one of the hardest divisions in at least my recent memory of baseball
as a whole, like not.
just the National League of any divisions in baseball in my recent memory. So any of our NOS teams,
man, is a beast to go up against. Yeah. Meanwhile, the Dodgers just Don Draper both of us and just
say, I don't think about you at all, basically, is what they do. But yeah, like Sean says it,
the Dodgers are everyone's rival, honestly. And yeah, I mean, I could probably pick some teams here.
I mean, I still have my thing. I still think the Diamondbacks, maybe because it's a sibling rivalry,
like the Tampa Bay raise for being the Diamondbacks, you know, true rival, right? We came into
the league at the same time. We were both born at the same time. And, you know, they have this
incredibly, eerily similar record against each other. In general, in playoff appearances, like,
the rays and the Diamondbacks just kind of stay neck and neck with the way that they perform. So
that part of it always kind of feels fun and makes that feel a little bit, a little bit more like a,
like a, again, a sibling rivalry, but we do have the N-Hell West, we call it the N-Hell-West around here,
by the way, Christian.
We have the N-Hel-West updated standings here.
And like you said, yes, fine, we're close to each other in the standings, but that's the best
we're going to keep it.
This division is just crazy, though.
And I know people talk about it being the best division in baseball, but it's just wild to me.
I know now these teams are going to finally start mixing it up and playing each other up to
this point. We've kind of kept away from each other. But yeah, I mean, this this division is
just something else. And you're kind of right. It is a little depressing to look up, even even in fourth
place at those three teams and know that none of those teams are a fluke. None of those teams are as
good as they are because they're just, you know, just by chance playing good baseball, right?
Like the Giants might be a bit of a surprise, but they did add Justin Burlander. They do have one of the
most exciting players in Junghuli.
Like, there's a lot of things to like about the giants.
They went out.
They acted.
They added some really good free agents, even though they're not all working out for them.
Willie Adomas has a great.
Including Buster Pogne, by the way.
Right.
Exactly.
And they got that too, right?
So it's like they just have a lot of positives going on for them.
Not to mention, even with the Padres, like the Padres were kind of our one hope at having
one of those teams fall apart due to internal struggles, right?
The ownership battle that they have going on with the Padres.
And my biggest fear came to life because I said it this offseason, this is a team that
thrives on spite. They are, they are powered by hate. And if you ever give them a reason to
galvanize like the ownership group fighting and that, you know, that being a reason why they
didn't get like a lot of free agents and the team didn't really advance much, the roster didn't
advance much at least during the off season. And this team's just playing some of the most
incredible baseball that they've ever played, right? Like, again, it's just difficult to look up at how
well-ran these three teams are Padres withstanding, I guess, for right now. And, and, you know,
again, like, have a ton of hope that not only can we catch these teams, but maybe in the future,
they'll fall apart. It just, it feels like they're all really well set up for now, for the future,
and it's just going to be a difficult road for both of these teams to continue to battle in the NOS.
Well, it's why I said I'm confident that the Rockies will likely never win the now.
National League West Division in my lifetime because I just think the way Major League Baseball
is set up as a system as a whole. And I'm not trying to get into the whole salary cap,
salary floor conversation either. I just, it's a very different context. But the Dodgers are set up
with so much depth from a spending perspective and from a draft and development perspective
because they have all of this money to put into all of their research and all of that kind of
stuff that the Rockies just are never going to be able to accomplish more than that. They
have to kind of go through the back alley route and hope that at some point there is an opening
in the wild card standings where where we can sneak our way in one day that one day is a long way
out but you know it is it's hard to look at that and and feel like things are fair but at the same
time i hate that that conversation of like oh it's not fair because we play the toughest division
because i'm like that's just you just be a better team right like that's what i want to keep
saying to myself is like the ruckies just need to be better the diamond backs just need to be better you
know, it's, it's anyone's game when you step between the lines.
Well, and I, probably not the guy to be quoting because he hasn't been having a good season,
but Erod talked about playing on the Boston Red Sox.
He talked about, like, he was asked kind of about playing the Dodgers here in the NL West,
and he basically said he got used to thinking of the guys in that other, you know, locker room is just guys, right?
It's just people.
Like, yes, they're very good at baseball.
And they might have some great numbers and they might be good at baseball.
every, you know, almost every time they go out there,
but I'm not going to let them be good against me today.
Now, Erod has let plenty of people be good against him,
so I'm not going to say that that applies to his performances.
But I will say, like, there comes a point with baseball that the sum of the team is greater
than the separate parts, right?
And you have the fact that, like, some teams like the Dodgers and stuff are going to
at some point maximize out their spending while still having some pretty
old guys on their team, right? Hopefully that's the case. And you just never know when a team like
the Rockies or a team like the Diamondbacks can have a group of guys that come together and play
really good baseball over the course of a year. I think that's what's different about baseball than
other sports. Maybe it's because we have these stories come up all the time where some guy was
some minor leaguer that was hitting 250 comes and takes over, you know, major league baseball or
whatever. Like we just, you have these random things where guys suddenly, things, things,
click and you know this guy was a 75th draft pick and this guy was this and this guy was that right
baseball just seems like one of those things that a team can suddenly be good and come together
over the course of a year and surprise people right so I'm trying to inspire some hope in you I'm trying
to inspire some hope in Rockies fans right now what what you're saying sounds exactly like what the
Rockies front office their message has been to fans that's gross that's gross never mind
It is. It is. It's so triggering for me because it's like for years, the Rockies front office is like, well, you never know. You know, look at what the Royals did. They went and turned around 100 lost team and made it to the playoffs. And it's like, yeah, but look at what they did. Look at how strategic they were and going out and getting Bobby Witt, Jr. And, you know, I mean, like, look at the actual moves that they made to do that. You can't just sit there and hope that at some point you're going to be good. So I do understand, you know, and God, I'm hoping that the Rockies at some point find that needle in a haste.
stack that just turns things around.
But at the same point, you know, you've got to be very calculated in your approach.
And that just has not been the case.
But for you guys, it has.
You just have the unfortunate, the disfortune of playing in the NOS.
It was leadership.
It really came down to Mike Hazen as a general manager becoming the guy for this team.
And that's, again, the part that the Rockies seem to be missing here, right?
is that guy that puts together staff trusts, you know, the trust, you know, has, again,
analysts and experts in place, scouts in place that can give them good information on which guys,
you know, they really need to invest in, which guys they need to pursue.
Sometimes the stuff that the Diamondbacks do, it doesn't work out, right?
Like we've joked about how if it's a free agent pitcher and the Diamondback sign him,
no matter what his ERA is, he's going to come here and be bad.
And honestly, Corbyn Burns doesn't even deserve that because he's been great this year.
and he just stumbled out of the gate a little bit,
but he really got things back on track.
It just,
there are certain story lines that seem to come back
and repeat themselves with this team.
However, people don't give credit
where credit is due for the fact that Mike Hazen
had a huge involvement in all of these young guys being drafted,
all of these young guys being part of the organization,
them coming up after being developed.
And then, you know, now what we're seeing is those extensions,
those contracts that are going to keep these guys
part of the Diamondbacks for a number of years.
And this was not like this before Mike Hazen was here, right?
There was the Dave Stewart years here with Arizona,
where he literally burned the farm system down to the ground
while also simultaneously burning the main roster down to the ground.
And luckily, the Diamondbacks got Mike Hazen.
I always said it was like he was handed a broken vase
before, you know, from the house party before the parents got home.
And somehow Mike Hazen super glued every piece back together.
And really, that's what it comes down to for an organizational
like the Rockies is getting a guy like that that you can put your trust in that can run the
organization properly. Not sure if that can happen when you have the owner that wants to be
so directly involved like this. But I do very much appreciate your time, buddy. Thank you so
much for stopping by. And of course, we will chat again soon. I know we'll be playing the Rockies
again soon. So I'd love to have you back on. But keep up alive and enjoy, I guess, having it
both ways where you're good if they win or you're good if they lose.
I will say, if we're just talking specifics here real quick, the Rockies have a tendency to play up offensively towards good pitchers.
And they also have a tendency to make, you know, the most average pitcher look like a Cy Young.
I mean, two of our wins came against Chris Sale and Hunter Green.
So just just be careful when it comes to that guy.
This is the worry that I didn't need.
I thought we were all on board with a sweep.
I thought we were all bored with the Diamondbacks.
I'm just giving you a heads up.
Just be careful when it goes to that.
But besides that, you guys should have no problem.
Our bullpen is okay.
It's been decent this year.
The rest has been just atrocious.
Our bullpen is not okay.
I can assure you that.
Our bullpen is kind of a disaster right now.
Our bullpen is around three R.A. right now as a whole.
So it's sneaky good this year, which is shocking because I'm like,
we're just wasting probably the best bullpen we've ever seen out of the Colorado
Rockies history.
But that's the way it goes.
Great.
Great.
Well, I'm not looking forward to this now.
But hey, I do appreciate you again, man.
Thank you so much for stopping by.
You can follow him on Twitter at DNVR Sayez,
and he is Christian Syaz from the NBR Rockies.
Make sure to check out their podcasts.
They will definitely be having some fun watching this team, I guess, sink to the bottom.
Hate watching every night, baby.
Hell yeah.
All right, well, thank you again.
Appreciate it, man.
Appreciate you, buddy.
All right, well, we will be right back.
When we come back, we're going to talk about some throwback Thursday memories
on this very show.
Of course, you know what today is.
It's that purple Thursday.
I still think we own the color purple over the Colorado Rockies based on our record,
but I guess that's a discussion for a different day.
We will be right back, though.
So don't you go anywhere?
You're watching the PHNX Diamondback Show.
Of course, we have big news from Sanderson Ford.
Sanderson Ford just announced they're from America for America employee pricing.
We've been talking about it.
It basically means you pay what the employees pay.
And that's with no markups, no addendums, no added on.
anything over at Sanderson Ford because that's what you'll get.
All the Ford dealerships have this deal, but none will give you the customer satisfaction
that Sanderson Ford will deliver.
On top of employee pricing, right now, you can get additional Ford incentives on over
1,000 vehicles during the Sanderson Ford Platinum 70th anniversary sale.
And if that is not enough in celebration of their 70th anniversary, you can stop in
and get a pair of tickets to an Arizona Diamondbacks game just for stopping by.
No test drive required.
No paperwork needs to be signed.
But hey, I suggest you do that anyway because it's a great place.
Go get yourself the Starliner Diner lunch.
Get yourself some free Diamondbacks tickets and maybe take a quick tour around in a new Mustang or a new Ford Bronco.
Of course, right now, that does exclude the 2025 expedition, Super Duty and Raptor family, as well as the Mustang and Bronco specialty vehicles.
One pair of tickets per household with valid driver's license to the July 6th game versus the Kansas City Royal.
Royals. While supplies last, there are 200 tickets. So do not wait on that. Head on out there and get
those tickets now. Also, whatever the moment, it's never ordinary. A bet 365. You guys know that.
I know that. Kevin knows that. And the reason why is because bet 365 makes betting on live
in-game sports more fun. They pioneered live in-game betting and they offer the widest range of

the bet 365 early payout offer, you're a winner. If your team in majorly,

Derek.
Kevin.
Can I put you on the spot?
Please do.
I love it when you do.
We love our friends over at Bet365 and they love us.
This is a series that the Diamondback should dominate.
there should be a lot of opportunity
to make some money with bet 365.
There should be.
Without getting into the weeds of it,
because we could dive into stats and find props and things.
Sure.
What might be your best bet going into the weekend?
What do you eyeing?
I would take overs against Colorado Rockies
because the Diamondbacks offense has been rolling,
and I feel like when the Diamondbacks offense rolls,
the pitching suffers.
We're not going to get, I don't think, a bunch of like,
10 to 1 games or anything like that,
but I do think there's a good chance of some high-scoring games
where hopefully the Diamondbacks come out on top,
something like 8 to 3, 8 to 4, 9-3-3.
If that's the case, then I think betting the over
in all three games is fairly safe.
However, the Diamondbacks do have their best starting pitchers going in the series,
and that kind of contradicts what I just said a little bit.
If they do do a good job of holding the Rockies and limiting them,
then maybe the offense doesn't really even need to show up,
so there's a good chance that, you know, hey, maybe those unders hit.
I don't know.
I would maybe focus a little bit more probably on Corbyn Burns's player props, maybe his
strikeout total.
I know he only had five strikeouts his last time.
So his strikeout total based on averages might be probably set around four and a half.
So like if it was, I'd probably hit the over on that or maybe even five and a half.
Same thing with Merrill Kelly, maybe innings pitched.
That's always an easy one for me.
I make what some people call coward bets.
But it's because I want to make money and I'm not swinging for the fences for a home run.
And so I'll do things like, especially Merrill Kelly, outs acquired, even though the cramping thing might be a problem.
I feel like outs is an easy one.
That's a smart way to attack it.
I do the method of what some people call donations.
Oh, yeah.
You just try to pick a guy for a random home run or something.
I don't do that.
I don't go quite as, you know, as explicit of that kind of donation.
But most of my bets, you know, UFC bets or like I'll parlay a MLB money line with like a strikeout.
maybe one guy to get one hit when I really should just be doing one of those things.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, I have gone three and oh on my bets a few times, especially when I've done them for
for pH and X bets.
However, uh, yeah, that's right.
But also you, you, you have the factor that it's heartbreaking if you parlayed and you hit
two out of three and you, then the one misses and the one misses by, you know, a very small amount.
Yeah.
I would have made my money back.
Yeah.
I would have made my money back.
I would have gone two for three.
I would have been positive.
I would have been happy.
maybe bought myself a nice little beer.
Who knows?
You know, something you could have spent your money on is the sale going on right now,
the spring cleaning sale going on over at the PH&X merch store.
Right now, 30% off most inventory products.
I don't think the new products are 30% off,
but some are marked up to 75% off.
So go in there, get yourself some amazing gear.
Right now, the Sunday Fund Day tea.
I know some people are a fan of that one I've worn on this show.
That one's down less than $20 at $19.
and $49.49. So is our
Defend the Pool Tea. You can get
that one in time for our big pool party coming
up on July 3rd. So head on over to
go phtonx.com and click on the merch
tab and you will get to check out the
wonderful sales going on with our spring
cleaning clearance sale.
And also Tanner in the chat, you're right.
You're right. I shouldn't do parlayes.
He's right. I know it benefits the house.
Every time. You know, on the outside
of every nicotine package, it says this
contains an addictive chemical. They don't
really say that. They don't really say that.
They do, but you can easily skip through it.
So the parlay is they just call me like the Green Goblin Mask in the Spider-Man movie.
I believe in Carlos's theory here.
He said, always bet on the biggest long shot.
It just needs to get once.
It'll pay off eventually.
It'll pay off eventually and it'll pay off all those bets on the loss.
But yeah, no, for sure.
Maybe I like the little $3 bets on the long shots when you just feel like getting something.
The small bets are the way to go, man.
I mean, I know it doesn't change your life financially,
but it also doesn't ruin you financially.
So there's that as well.
$2 and $3 bets for the win.
But speaking up for the win,
we had some big things happen this week
in the history of Arizona Diamondbacks baseball,
and it is throwback Thursday.
So we did have to go take a little stroll down memory lane.
A couple days from now, three days from now,
on May 18th, something very important happened 21 years ago.
That was when Randy Johnson
through the Arizona Diamondbacks first perfect game.
It was a 2-0 shutout over the Atlanta Braves.
and Randy Johnson became just the 16th pitcher to throw a perfect game.
This reminds me of the time that Zach Gallen told me that he wouldn't really even go very long for a no hitter,
but he would pitch until his arm fell off for a perfect game, which was funny to me because in my mind,
I really kind of always attributed perfect games and no hitters as being a very equal thing,
but apparently they're not.
And when you look at how many no hitters have been achieved in baseball, you'll understand that fact,
because again, only, he became only the 16th pitcher in baseball.
His three to throw a perfect game.
I think a couple more have been thrown since then.
But he threw 117 pitches in that game.
And his very last pitch, Kevin, 98 mile per hour fastball after 117 pitches.
They were just built differently back then.
They were just built differently.
I stole the words right out of my mouth.
I was going to say just a man that's built different.
Yeah.
They were built on tobacco.
And hate.
Tobacco, hate, and post-game brusky.
Yes.
You're goddamn right they were.
Yeah.
And I get it.
No, perfect game is much better.
I understand that.
But I'm not disputing that, Tanner.
I just thought it was funny to hear from a major league pitcher himself that there is a huge
difference to them in regards to the perfect game or the no hitter.
But yes, we did win that game two to nothing over the Atlanta.
Braves for sure. Carlos says
UCL was made of steel.
God damn right. Fortified by the toxins of
the tobacco. That's right. Cam
says perfect game. I just need Gallin to throw
six innings more consistently.
That was a weird, funny
discussion, by the way, with Chicago Cubs
Radio. They were very mad about
another Cubs lost
after James Tyone
when six innings
giving up three runs. They were mad about the idea
of a quality start. I'm going to
just honest with you.
If you don't think a quality started good in today's
Major League Baseball, then you don't
know today's Major League Baseball, quite frankly.
If your pitcher goes out and gives you a quality start,
your team has a chance to win the game.
I'm going to stand by that.
A few other things happened on May 13th.
One, Gerardo Parra made his debut for the Arizona
Diamondbacks, and he became
just the second Diamondback in history
to hit a home run in his first at
bat that happened on May 13th, 2009. That was against the Cincinnati Reds. He was became the
100th player in Major League Baseball history to hit a home run in his first at bat. The very
first player to ever do so was Alex Cabrera back on June 26 in 2000 against the Astros.
Last, I just brought it up. I just brought up the Dave Stewart era of the time here with the
Arizona Diamondbacks where things got very, very bad on May 17, 2014, one Tony LaRoucise.
was named the chief baseball officer of the Arizona Diamondbacks,
marking a very bleak time in this organization's history.
To say it was a failure is a vast understatement.
Fun thing, on that date, Paul Goldschmidt also went four for five
with two doubles, two home runs, six RBI,
and five runs scored all by himself
in an 18 to 7 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Diamondbacks set franchise records that day for runs,
extra base hits, hits, in a nine- inning game.
And that was all over the Dodgers.
That was a great day.
Great day in Diamondbacks history.
But we have a little bit more to talk about.
We got to take a visit down to the Snake Farm,
give you some updates on Newman, Lynn,
and some other players from the Diamondbacks Farm System.

I feel like we really, what we're lacking here is a really cool snake farm graphic, Kevin.
I'm not putting this on you,
but just imagine here in this space that like there's a snake that slithers onto the screen
maybe wearing a farmer hat in front of, I don't know, like a little barn.
We're just spitballing it here.
Should the players be in the barn?
No, let's just brainstorming out.
No, yeah.
To pull the curtain back, Derek and I were thinking about this this morning.
I mean, maybe they could be little stocks of corn and the players could be growing out of each
little stock of corn while the snake coils up it.
What if each person was a different like produce?
Oh, now we're just.
You say corn, I think you men, Lynn.
Yeah.
Well, because that's his name, right?
That's his nickname.
Exactly.
But like, but like someone else might be like a rootabega.
Yeah.
See, Sean says with some straw wheat in its mouth.
Oh yeah.
Like maybe some little overalls, but they're not overalls.
It's just a one piece of denim that straps over his non shoulders that aren't there.
I figured it out.
What do you got?
Jesse Jr.
straw in his mouth.
Done.
Had on his head.
Done.
Human Lynn behind him.
Yeah, this is crazy.
I don't know why we don't already have this graphic in existence.
Well, because Noah's doing whatever.
Yeah.
Noah left us.
Noah's doing whatever he's doing.
Noah's last.
Damon's Mr.
Vacations now.
I said,
can we talk about this again?
I said this on Wildcast today.
Are we sure we should not relitigate the Mr.
Vacation's nickname?
Yeah,
because Mr.
Vacations was previously Max,
and Max earned that nickname,
but Damon has been fighting very,
very hard,
including taking a vacation during draft weekend, right?
It's kind of like Max missing a rising playoff game.
Wow.
For vacation?
I don't know why he missed it,
but I don't know.
Let Owen tell the story.
I think it was for a vacation.
Meanwhile, during the NLDS in 2023,
I drove to Las Vegas because I promised my family vacation
at 3 o'clock in the morning, Kevin.
At 3.45 a.m.
They'd given our room away
because they figured we just weren't coming at that point.
Some people are built different.
Some people are Randy Johnson and some people are Zach Gallen.
And that's no diss to Zach Gallen.
But you get my point.
You know, Damon could be one of the greats.
It was a different era.
Of the program, of the franchise.
Speaking of people that could be.
But you are our leader, our mayor.
I know.
Our Randy Johnson, our Kingsnake.
Speaking of guys that could be big.
We got to talk about the farm system here.
Yumen Lynn, he had a start last night, or I think this was two nights ago against the Sugar Land Cowboys.
He allowed one run on five hits and two walks over four in a third innings, striking out four.
This is impressive.
This is the PCL.
You don't go out there and just give up one run.
and that's something that Yumen Lynn's been doing.
Currently has a 2.40 ERA and three starts, 15 innings pitched.
In those 15 innings pitched, he has 12 strikeouts, six walks, and two home runs allowed.
What I will say is Jesse kind of gassed me up about this, and the more and more I see
Yumen Lynn perform, his outings aren't very long, but his outings are incredibly good in a
division in a league that is notorious for offense.
So I'm not jumping to any conclusions just yet, but I will say that it's starting to feel like there's a good chance that we could see Umin Lin on the Major League roster this year, right?
And this is all since he's returned.
He kind of had himself a tumultuous offseason, joyful, good.
He became a dad.
He served military time.
And again, I had a lot of things that weren't baseball-related activities going on in his life.
I feel like for him to come back and dial in like this is impressive.
It could mean that we see Lynn here before the end of this season called up to the Diamondbacks Major League roster with the injuries that they've experienced and kind of this ongoing search for a bullpen arm.
You'll never know when Lynn's number might be called.
A couple of other names I wanted to discuss veteran Ildamaro Vargas, who feels like he's been in the league forever.
He went four for four on Tuesday.
He was just a home run short of the cycle.
He's another name that if Jordan Lawler continues to possibly struggle at Major League.
level. They might look to Vargas considering
Vargas plays a similar role.
He can play defensively at all three
positions and he wasn't
putting up the offensive numbers that Lawler
was putting up for the Reno Aces.
However, he does have major league
experience and he's been in
the bigs before. So another name that
we could see. A couple of other guys at a lower
level for the sod poodle. Spencer Geisting
had a nice outing the other day.
He went seven innings pitch, gave up three hits,
one run, walk two, struck
out eight. He's only allowed four,
home runs this year and 39 and two-thirds innings pitched and he currently has a 3.18
ERA, a guy that's making his way up through the system. Another name that wouldn't be surprised
to see maybe in Reno before the end of the season. But again, Diamondbacks kind of need to
start developing their next pitching line because as it stands, things are getting pretty
shallow as far as depth is concerned. I do know a lot of people are currently still wondering
what the hell is going on with Drew Jones. He is currently
with the Hillsborough hops right now.
Not having a terrible season,
but not also doing anything that, I guess,
is earth-chattering.
It's currently slashing 276.
However, his on-base percentage is 370,
and his slug is 313.
So not great.
That all equals out to a 684 OPS.
Big problem is he has 41 strikeouts this season.
He's only walked 20 times.
That ratio is kind of gross,
but he does have 10 stolen bases in 33 games,
so that's a lot of fun.
Last but not least, I have one more guy,
maybe that we can add to the Major League roster.
Kevin, you have video of this potential prospect
that the Diamondback should look into?
Oh, yeah.
That's one Devin Booker doing what Devin Booker does,
and they're just being good at everything.
Is there anything?
Good take.
Is there anything that this man can't do?
Look at that.
Gone!
You know what's crazier?
Call him up right now.
Is I had to cut the audio for this clip, Derek,
because there is music in it, right?
But in the beginning of that clip, he goes, this was going to left field right here.
Yeah, he does.
Doesn't like the first one spits on it.
You know what I mean?
Second one just, ping.
Gone.
That man is a machine.
But anyway, we got to get out of here, guys.
We'll be back with another post game show tomorrow.
So make sure to join us for that.
In the meantime, follow me on Twitter.
I'm at cap underscore caveman with a K.
Kev is at Kev-O posts.
Our show is at PhNX underscore D-Backs.
But as always, all roads lead to at PHNX underscore sports on Twitter.
Instagram and Facebook. We appreciate your time so much. We will do, do, do I miss any super chats or anything?
Yeah, yeah, we do. Oh, you know what? Let's, all right. Well, if you're watching on the TV side of thing,
I promise, Kevin, we weren't going into overtime today. And here we are going into overtime. So
overtime, make sure to join us over at go phnx.com. Let's read a couple of these real fast.
Derek Foster says, Joe Tori would lose 100 games in Colorado. Yeah, I mean, anybody would.
I don't know who wouldn't lose 100 games.
Bob Melvin would lose 100 games out there.
It doesn't matter.
Anybody coaching that Colorado Rockies team,
as Christian elaborated on,
that is more of an internal problem.
And again, I don't know how to fix that.
I think we have a thing in this country
where these old men get older and older and older
and they just think they're so right.
Like, that's just crazy to me.
I am 44 years old.
and I feel so disconnected with today's youth and most of society that I need my 14-year-old
daughter to teach me slang words just so I can pretend like I'm hip, Kevin.
I couldn't imagine thinking that I know everything about everything, especially in a game
like baseball that's constantly evolving.
It's just, it's nuts.
I do appreciate the fact that we do have some pretty good people in place of the Diamondbacks
to make sure that all of those decisions are coming from Ken Kendrick himself.
and I mean even Ken Kendrick himself would probably say that that would be nuts for him to be the sole decision maker for this team.
Benjamin Hunley says rivalry weekend does not include Red Sox Yankees, Dodgers Giants or Cubs Cardinals.
They didn't get a single rivalry right.
You're right.
And that's the reason why I'm not upset about this whole Colorado Rockies thing.
I did want to look into it further.
I do feel like there is more to this.
You know, it's not like it's just two teams that have kind of been randomly thrown together,
but I did want to put together maybe a list of five teams that would maybe be better rivals for the Diamondbacks.
So look for that video to drop.
I'm going to throw that as a little video on-demand piece.
But I guarantee you the Colorado Rockies does not make that list.
Or maybe, I don't know, maybe we'll talk about why they deserve an honorable mention on that list.
But we do, once again, appreciate you guys so much for your time.
Let's take a look one more time before we get out of here at the probable pictures
because this is one of those things, Kevin, that really this should be, oh, God.
On paper, this should be a murder.
Look at their ERAs, except for that TBD guy who's always so good.
He's always so solid.
Hermann Marquez.
Is that an 8.27 ERA?
Chase Dolander, a 6.88 ERA?
these are Eduardo Rodriguez numbers, guys.
Okay.
Okay, well, that was, that was me.
That was me.
However, you heard what he said.
They usually get to the good pictures.
So now this is a, I'm going to have a nightmare about this.
I was going to say, like, Christian seemed like a very nice guy, a great guy.
Like, I would love to hang out with Christian and have a beer with him.
That was a nasty thing at the end of he did.
That was really nasty.
Yeah, it was like, it was like lovingly tucking someone into bed and telling them good night.
And then whispering into the ear, by the way, everybody you know and yourself one day.
is going to die, and then getting up and walking away and expecting that person to have a good
night's sleep. I'm not going to sleep well tonight, thinking about the fact that the only time
that the Rocky show up is against solid pitchers, knowing that Corbin Burns, Zach Gallen,
and Merrill Kelly are the three going up against them. But hey, it should be a fun weekend. Come on out to
the ballpark. This is at home at Chase Field, right? So I guess I'll be out there too. Look for me on
Friday. We'll have a good night. Until then, though. Oh, yeah, Sean's right. On the horizon, we do get
E-Rod in L.A.
So, yay!
Anyway.
The Ball-L-A-Rena?
Yeah.
The Ball-L-A-Rina?
We'll have to work on that.
We'll have to work on that.
But Stephen's going to be there Sunday.
Have a great day, Stephen.
I hope you guys get to watch the final win of a three-game suite.
But now I said those words and now that it's not, it's...
You did.
I said it.
I said the S-word.
I said the S-word.
I'll take this one.
This one's on me.
Because remember, the words I say and the things I put on Twitter definitely impact this
baseball game and the end.
outcome of baseball game. So, but I do appreciate you guys once again. I will see you guys back
here tomorrow with another postgame show. Until then, make sure you behave yourselves. Make sure you
enjoy your evening tonight, your day off. I know there's no Diamondbacks baseball tonight.
So maybe, maybe go watch Andor because that was incredible. So again, masterpiece.
Few things in life are a masterpiece and or is a masterpiece. But go watch that. Go watch something fun.
Enjoy yourselves. Enjoy your family. Again, we appreciate your time.
I've told you this before, and I will continue to tell you this.
Your time is your most valuable commodity.
Not only should you use it wisely, but we thank you so much for spending some of it with us.
We will be back here tomorrow night with another postgame show.
Until then, have a wonderful night.
Behave yourselves and remember kids, baseball is fun, but is so much more fun
when you don't terrify me by telling me that the Rockies are good against solid pitchers
right before we wrap up our interview.
