Yeah. Corb him. Yeah. But we do have a lot of laundry discussion to talk about today. We have a lot of clothing to discuss. I forgot to move the laundry this morning. You did, didn't you? It's just going to get mildewy in that washer.

But anyway, I hope you moved your laundry. But very exciting news that has become kind of the talk of the town over the last 24 hours. The Arizona Diamondbacks might be on the horizon of getting New Jersey's for 2024 and beyond. Nothing we have is confirmed. There was a tweet that was sent out that has now been

deleted since then, so I don't know if that means good things or bad things for the information provided in there. But we do know a couple of things that we've been told. We've heard a couple of rumors that have kind of gone around and we know we've seen some things with our own eyes including the website where

it's speculation, but sand has gone away. According to that tweet, according to things that are said, sand, this beautiful sand color will only be featured on the Serpientish jersey. Which only has one more year. Under the Nike contract.

And according to the Nike contract, we know the Serpientish jersey will not be changing. They can change the pants and stuff, but there's no alteration to the Serpientish jersey, like you said, one more year of that, unfortunately, because I know a lot of people are fans of that. But

we do know, at least you could kind of confirm when going to the Diamondbacks website that the color sand is nowhere to be found. So that's something. The other thing you see a lot of on their website is teal. Teal. Teal. A lot of teal. As an accent like we've seen, because I do know that there was a tweet from, I think, like, two months ago that suggested that teal might be a primary color.

Yeah, I think somebody AI generated a jersey of what it would look like if the Diamondbacks did in all teal jersey. It had pinched. It was a bit busy. Yeah, I prefer, I prefer just like if they use it as an accent. Yeah, for sure. So according to the rumors, the primary jersey colors are going to be white, gray, red, and black. No change to the actual colors, but potentially changes to the shades, like an off white, like maybe a different color of red according to a tweet from Sun's Uniform Tracker,

who also has been tweeting some things out. But there are, we know, we are very sure that there will not be a team. jersey. That's pretty much it. And unfortunately, there probably won't be a purple jersey. It sounds like it doesn't sound like the classic colors are coming back, which is what everybody wants, right? All I've ever wanted. I know.

Is for them to go back to purple. I know. That's all we've ever. That's all we all. They won't. They won't. No matter how much we ask, they just won't do it. One rumor I have heard has been that once the Serpienta City Connect jersey goes away,

that there is consideration or there has been talks to bring back some sort of throwback jersey, which we know which one it has to be if we're going to a throwback. This is a fitting time for a rebrand. It is? You just made the World Series. Yeah. The team is composed of 23-year-old studs. Yep, absolutely.

I mean, what a better time. Yeah. I would also make sense as to one thing that we've kind of put them on blast about a little bit, which is the availability of jerseys in the. the team shop, right? Hypothetically, what you could say is we've seen, like, for instance, Corbyn Carroll, the only Corbyn Carroll jersey I've seen in the team shop is the Serpientish jersey, which makes sense because the Serpientish jersey is going to be around this season.

Maybe. That's an elite tier jersey. Maybe they didn't draft that jersey. Maybe they didn't get those into production because, you know, it's a disappointing experience to go buy a jersey for a guy and then gets replaced. And that's happened far too often in this team's history. Yeah. It's like every seven years. Yeah, like they came out with this.

So they came out with the initial like Sedona Red and Sand jerseys. People remember it was Stephen Drew, Connor Jackson, Eric Burns, Orlando Hudson. That group of individuals kind of debuted the new era, right? They switched from purple to red. Yeah. That was the kid. And then it wasn't too long after that that they were like, eh, these aren't really cutting it. So we're going to switch.

And then they switched again. And then 16 or 17, they switched to the gradient jerseys. and that everybody hated the gradient jerse. By the way, I attended, I've talked about this before, I attended the like fashion show. The bloody sock jerseys. That they had with the gradient jerseys. It was wild to be that they had a fashion show,

with a catwalk and everything. What? Who in their right mind thought a gradient down to your sock or shoe was a good idea? Yeah. No, I don't like that. But just from the calf. Yeah. Don't like that.

Didn't like the hat. The hat with the gradient. It didn't even look like gradient. It didn't make sense. It just looked like your hat had something on it or had been damaged of some kind. But of course, we do know that whatever the change is, I don't think it's going to be as drastic as people think it's going to be.

No, people always tend to blow these things up. And they're just never, and they're just never, ever, ever drastic. And I mean, is part of that too smart considering the World Series thing or would now be a smart time to strike while the iron is hot and do something new? I mean, there's obviously a love for the classics in the locker room. I mean, you saw Zach's tweet after. they had the throwback weekend where he was like, we should, we should wear these permanently. Yeah.

And it was like, everybody's like, oh my God, it's happening. It's happening. They're going back. Like, and it's, it's somebody I think pointed out in the chat. Ernesto said, yeah, he said bum, no purple, but I, it's not a Kendrick thing, but a Nike slash MLB thing. And I can totally see that. Nike is trying to continue these. Yeah, they're contracted to keep these colors.

Like it, for better or for worse, we're stuck with the colors that we have. Okay. Right? That's, that's kind of where we're at. And there are a lot of creative things that can be done with that. I just hope they're not too outside the box. Yeah. I think traditional is better.

And I think traditional is the way they're going to go. When you look at the direction, I mean, like, I feel like they've always wanted to add something to it. Right. Like I feel like they've always wanted to stand out a bit. Sure, because there are too many teams that were right. Right. Right. I think one way is like again, I think the teal will be incorporated into every jersey design. And I think that's why we're seeing so much teal. I think that they moved to the home white and teal jerseys.

Right. Right. They were like, oh, this is. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Teal is important. And teal is important. And I think teal honestly looks really sharp, especially like, I think teal and red together as like outside lining around black, you know, and other things looks really good. So I think I expect to see teal incorporated just into everything and that's that as long as it's used in a subtle way and they don't have a teal jersey Another weird thing that I've heard is that the red is changing. So it might not be Sedona Red. Are they still going to call it Sedona Red? Probably not if it's changing. But it I heard that that they might be going towards more of a red red like just instead of a dark red or like red. I don't know. The one really interesting thing that I've heard that was part of that mock up that we talked about, the T-O-1, is that the entire name Diamondbacks is going to be featured on one of the jerseys. The whole ass name is going to be on a jersey in one line, not like it did in the 98 one where it was Diamond with the backs underneath it.

Yeah, the only thing is I worry that is a lot of letters. Yeah, it's the longest name in professional sports, right? If you're on Twitter, people want that to be what it says. They're like, get rid of D-Backs. It's stupid. And I'm like, is it stupid, though? It's the team's brand. Let's be honest.

D-backs has always been just, I mean, it's, you're just, you're just teeing it up for someone to make fun of you and call you D-Bags, right? I mean. Who cares? I don't, but I'm just saying. It's too close. It's too right there. It's too, it's low-hanging fruit. It's too easy to give people that.

Billy fans thought that they really had something. They really did. They really did. They really did. called the D-bags since our inception. I think the first time I heard it was Kurt Gibson's tenure here when basically they retaliated to just about any time somebody got hit. I'm pretty sure that team over the course of like two years got to like six fights,

because they got known as the D-bags. That was a really fun time in history. But like I don't know. I actually like I have never been a hater of the D-Backs moniker. Like I actually, I really like it. I think it a leaves room for space on the jersey and B. I know as a producer, I know you're a fan of us not giving you too many,

too many characters in one of our titles. Everybody knows that I'm in this office knows that I am a stickler for space. Let's see. There's talk in the chat. Chris Melton says, I hate off white, which, yeah,

that's been one of the rumors is that the jersey will no longer be the pure white, which I really like. I really like. The white and teal with pure white. Oh, yeah. I just think it looks good together. You run the risk of like, like when they came out with that dark road gray, I know you're not a fan.

Or maybe it was Jesse that's not a fan. No, Jesse doesn't like it. I like the dark road gray. I really liked when they tried to distinguish themselves with the dark road gray. So I wouldn't knock the off white until I saw it because like I might be like, yeah, off white sucks, but then I'm going to see it. And I'm going to be like, oh, that works. I mean, sort of like, I don't know.

The jerseys are great and all, but like, I don't mind when teams change every once in a while. No, I don't either. I think it's, I think it's, it provides a nice fresh thing. So like, don't, it's frustrating when you're a fan. Yeah. It's frustrating when you're a fan and you get your stuff, like, you have to buy new stuff all the time, right? But that's also kind of, I mean, like, we're seeing that in the NBA every single year.

The Suns have a New Jersey every single year. You have to stay with the time. You know, it's crazy, right? Yeah. But, yeah. But it's a big part of it, right? It's a big part of keeping your franchise looking fresh. I also think acknowledging the past, though, is a great thing that franchises do that the Diamondbacks just don't do enough of when it comes to incorporating.

That's true. Somebody says if they can fit Serpientes, they can fit Diamondbacks. And that is relatively true. Sure. I think there's less letters than Serpientis. And the font is a little, it's a little more intertwined. Yeah. He's right. Their traditional D-Bax font, which I would imagine if they're going to write Diamondbacks, it's going to be in their team font. Yeah.

The other thing, what was the other thing I'd heard? oh, about the logo. They said that I've heard a couple of different rumors. I know for a fact. Wasn't there somebody tweeting? Was it Suns Unitracker that was talking about them going back to an old logo? Yeah. And that was the tweet from yesterday.

They basically made it sound like a logo was, they were going to have a new primary logo. But yeah, it definitely sounds. And based on what I've seen in the team shop, it's the D. It has to be the Snake D. And the team is the team, does it feel? I have not been to the team shop in a while. It was just gone and then it was back.

Like it was gone. Like, but I mean, again, you know how sometimes they just do that. They decide, like even with some of their stuff, they have a lot of purple and teal stuff in the team shop,

right? So if you were to go in the team shop, you would not believe necessarily that this team is going away from purple and seal. I guess I was lying to you when I said that I haven't been in the team shop in a while. I went when the playoffs were going. But I noticed. It was chaotic.

It was chaotic in there. But like, it was interesting because they did push a lot of retro stuff. Yeah. Yeah. They, they, they,

lot of retro stuff. Right. Like, it wasn't just like, here's what we have currently. Like, these are our jerseys. Buy this. It was like, no, we've got a little bit of an assortment. Which leads me to believe that, yes, this is happening. Yeah.

You know what I mean? Like, there's a lot of, there wasn't just a focus on like their current stuff. It felt like you could get any of it. You know what I mean? So here's one thing that, because the thing they pointed out to on the tweet that was deleted yesterday was the Rattle Republic website, which I'm going to be completely honest, I didn't even know it existed until yesterday. There is a website called RattleRepublic.com

that apparently is the team shop's website, right? Which is something great for people to know because we are, I thought we were under the grip of fanatics.com with everything. Like every time you go to like the Sun's team shop, it takes you to fanatics. You go to this team shop, it takes you fanatics. Hell, even WWE is now owned or like is, is, is, is fanatics own you, Derek? Well, I will tell you, I'm in negotiations with fanatics to own me.

And should they do so, you're going to have to go through their custom. service department anytime you have a problem with me but on this ravel republic website uh there are hats as the primary picture this is this is this is a conspiracy theory it's a conspiracy theory but when you go to that website the very first hat you see is what there jacob it's the big d but it's a retro d though i what is why like this hat these the d they got rid of it all together like because they weren't using it so it wasn't in existence as far as like even doing retro hats when you go to the team shop you didn't see the d anywhere and now that's it's the D is back?

It's back. Is it back? We'll find out. The D can be surprising sometimes. You don't know when the D is going to sneak up on you, you know? Am I right? Am I right, you guys? I get it.

I know you guys get where I'm going with with this. Going back to your fanatic singer, you can have a bumper sticker that's like... If you have a problem with my driving call? No. No, no, no, no. It's going to be very... But it's really just like if you have a problem with my personality. Well, you're going to go to Derek Montia.com and there's going to be a very convoluted path to you contacting customer service first. That's going to involve you first.

having to like fill out a box and put your email address in there. No one's going to want to do that. To answer Cameron down there, he says, what is the unveiling? Yeah. We don't, this is all speculation. We don't. We don't even know what they isn't availing. We don't know.

I mean, we are. We saw some stuff on Twitter. There's, there's been, and like, all of the talk has kind of gone towards the idea of the team shop having some new stuff that's supposed to come out. So, like, I don't know. I might go, I might go walk across the street to the team shop and see if I can spy on what's going on. Yeah, there's a lot of things that we don't know for sure. A lot of things that aren't confirmed. But I don't know. I mean, again, what are your guys' thoughts on this? I always thought

that that Diamondbacks logo, the D logo was good. The best logo is the snake catching the ball. That, okay, so when I first heard this, I thought that that was the logo. I thought that's what they were going to go with. But then it sounded more like it was going to be a change. And that can't really be a change because that logo was featured quite a bit last year. They had a hat with it and stuff, right? Ryan Abdelis, as Big D-E-energy is the Rally Cry next playoff. Big D-energy.

Let's go. I love it. I'm bored. Like, is there a team in professional American sports that has a better assortment of logos in the Diamondbacks? I love. No, all of their logos are late. If it is big logo sick and the A logo is sick.

All of those are great logos. If it indeed is the D logo, I'm going to be pumped because I do like that logo. Yeah, yeah. Obviously, I think it looks better in vintage colors than it would with traditional colors. Sure. But that's just because of association. This team can go and make. the World Series in a D logo that has red and teal and I'll be stoked yeah well and somebody posted

the hat uh from spring training a few years ago when they wore that uh it wasn't it wasn't a team color specific hat it was just a red you know I think it was a red spring training hat maybe that all them yeah that one yeah it's an all red the the the D logo right right right so that that that that probably I mean I don't know it's going to be interesting and it's going to be interesting like you said with the sand outline in that one, what do we see, where we see like the teal outline or something? Yeah, it could be interesting.

Connor said which D logo, though, the one from 2001 or the D1 from the Sedona Red rebrand? No, it's the 2001. It's the snake. Espo refers to it as the Disney D. I don't like that, but... It's eerily similar to... I think it would be eerily similar to that.

I think that's the one you're referencing, right? The same snake head that's on Serpientes. Is that the vintage one? The joke about like hitting your nose when you look down at your chest has got me to a point. I can't. I got verified. Maybe. I don't know.

Return monitor. There is no, there's no D on my chest. I don't know what you're talking about. It's the one that's on the championship TV straight behind you. That's the one. Oh, okay. That's the one.

Yeah, see on Twitter, I thought I saw somebody say that it wasn't that one. Interesting. Or at least they thought it wasn't that one. Well, nobody knows anything. I really don't think yet. I don't think anybody knows anything. I know stuff. But, I mean, I only know what I've been told.

I didn't mind it, but at the same time, I like to. teal better. And I think if foregoing sand means that we get more teal, I'm all about it. Yeah. And again, I don't want it to be too much like the Miami Marlins, but I got to admit, the black with the teal and the red is like, it's just it looks, you know, like it's like neon kind of. You know what I miss about Miami? What's that? The sculpture in

centerfield. You do. Yeah. You do. I mean, what else is out there? They got nothing out there. It's just a big empty space now. Yeah. Well, it's kind of like seeing the clock for Chase Field in the garage. It's just in the garage. It's just the way that you and I would put old stuff that we don't know what to do with, but we don't really, I want to get rid of it, but I have nowhere to put this thing. So I'm going to put it in my shed in the backyard. That's where the big Arizona Republic clock is. It's sad. Yeah, you know what else I miss? But they probably couldn't hide it in a garage. The hill in Houston. Yeah. Yeah. It served no purpose.

This man loves the hill in Houston. Yeah. His favorite thing was the idea of, outfielders injuring themselves going after a fly ball I mean not injure I'm not looking for injuries I just like the hill Damon Damon's a different David's a different breed he's cut from a different cloth but maybe I should have made his photo or Rottweiler anyways do you think this rebrand would have happened regardless of the change world series run yeah the world series run yeah okay yeah because it feels like it was already kind of in the works because they made the change to home white and teal initially like this year like they went to the white and teal

home jerseys so it already felt like something was coming and there was too much talk during the regular season of players just not liking the jerseys all that much and wanting to switch but that's fair hopefully i mean i don't i don't remember if they actually went and got the players input when it came to the old like when they switched from purple to siddona red um but typically you involve the players on a decision like this if you're going to make it so hopefully they brought in like corbin carroll and gabby moreno So, Alex Thomas. Zach Gallin.

Zach Gallin. Hopefully they brought in this group of players that you think, I mean, with the exception of Zach, because we don't know what's going on with his contract extension. If he's going to get one, if they're just going to try and ride it out until he's a free agent, that would be the wrong decision. What if Zach put into his contract demands that they change back? Yeah, somebody in the chat mentioned instead of the extra 100 mil. Yeah.

Just, yeah, here it is. Negotiate going back to the throwout. There it is. Zach Allen contract instead of an extra $100 million. John gets it. John's a good negotiator. We need him negotiating on our behalf. But speaking of those old jerseys,

what do you say, fellas, that we have ourselves a little snake draft drafting the best jerseys in Diamondbacks history. Should we do that? Yeah. All right, let's do this. Damon, you down? Damon dog? Yeah, I think I could be down.

All right. Can you get me a draft graphic up there? Can we get this thing rolling? do this. Oh, it's a daemon dog. It's a daemon dog. It's adorable. All right, uh, you guys know what I'm taking for my number one jersey. We randomized the order by the way. We did randomize the order. This wasn't just Derek overlording himself. Correct. Correct. This was the baseball gods giving it to me because they knew. But then the baseball gods listened to me when I said, don't give me second, don't give me second, don't give me second. He did. That did happen. That did also happen. But now that's kind of feeling corrupt.

Yeah. It is a little bit. Yeah. You can plead to who. Basically, fuck Damon, basically, is what. And I will put a dollar in the jar for that one. I'm cool with my spot, yeah, it's fine. You know which one I'm taking. There's no doubt in my mind. It's the most iconic jersey in Diamondbacks history. It is the white vest, Arizona A, purple pinstripes, beauty, historic.

The one we won the World Series in. That's it. I won this thing already. They did win the World Series in that jersey. And the distinct marker for that jersey was always the purple sleeves. The vest about it. Yeah, you have the white pinstripes, which is really clean. Then you have that pop of purple.

Yeah. And it's like, wow, that's a lot of purple without being a lot of purple. Yeah. And my thing too with it is, I mean, obviously there's, like I said, there's the iconic nature of knowing that the Diamondbacks did what they did in it. But there's also the idea here that, like, it was just such a unique jersey. You know, like so few of teams have had a vest jersey like that. You know, it's not like something every team has had.

And man, it was just the details back at this time. You know, it was it was the purple and the teal and the little copper accents everywhere. The little copper threading. That actually might be my favorite part. I mean, because I see people rocking these jersey that Chase Field all the time, the throwback jerseys. And it's incredible. I like want to touch it because it's just so pretty. The numbers on the back of them are so incredible.

So yeah, that's my pick. Damon Don, what do you got for number two? I am going to go with the black jerseys with the the classic D that we were talking about earlier that has Arizona across. So the full Arizona. The full Arizona has the little like the teal and purple freaking accents around the sleeves.

Absolutely. That's what I think I'm going. Man, that was incredible. Yeah, that's a good one. I don't know what to put, you could probably put like, how would you denote this in like two words? Black Arizona.

Yeah. That's kind of how what I was wondering as well. Yeah, I'd just do Black Arizona for that one. I think everybody would know that one. See, this is where it gets interesting. Because I think this team, unlike some teams, I feel like this team has a really like solid top line of jerseys. Obviously, you got the white vest at one.

I think that's the pick that everybody would make there. Sure. But then you get a little bit kind. Like, there is a lot going for the jerseys over time here. So I've had a little bit of a tough time trying to pick what I'm going to take here at three. Okay. Because I like a lot of things. I mean...

Yeah, there's so many. There's so... And their top 10, there are so many good. Including, I know the gradient... I know the gradient gets a lot of hate, but there's even a gradient or two that's not bad as well. Yeah, I think I'm going to have to... So I think I'm going to have to go with the road gray vest pinstripe jersey as three.

So like the road version of what you picked. It says Arizona and purple across the front. Black shirt underneath. Black shirt. Yeah. Black hat. Yeah. Copper D.

I think that's a really, really clean look. And then I'm going to go Serpientes. Son of a bitch. Four. Yeah, Serpienti... I knew if I didn't get it there, I wasn't getting it on the way back. You definitely were not going to get it on the way back. Serpientis is like, I don't want to say a divisive jersey, but it kind of is.

Like, I love it. I've always loved the Serpientas. See, but do you like the iteration of it this year where they wore the sand pants, or do you like the iteration where they wore the white pants? I think I like the sand pants better. And I think, honestly, I still think they would look best with black pants. But that's just my personal feelings. I can see that. I think I'm going to go with the blacks they wore this year. I think that's what I'm going to go with. Okay. The black, the red black. Current black. Yeah, the current black, the red black that they have with the A logo. I can dig it. They were clean.

Yeah. They were clean. It reminds me of the black logo that, you know, or the black jersey that the black A jersey that Derek took. It's basically a pretty like modernized version with the new colors of that, I'd say. So I think that's what I'm going to go with here. I like it. I am going to go with what might be a very unpopular choice here, but I'm just going to go with a choice that I personally really, really liked. I think I know where you're going here and I really like that jersey.

It's the dark gray road jersey when we had the gradients with the teal. It had the black lettering with the red around it. and the teal around the outside. Oh, demons not a fan. They are hot. They were the only gradient jersey that looked good. And while I don't agree with any other part of the gradient design, the caps, the stupid pants, any of it.

But we are focusing on the Diamondbacks potentially acquiring Japanese pitcher Yoshinobu, Yemobu, Yemort

Motto from the oryx in Japan. He's good if you didn't know. If you haven't heard, he is very, very good. In fact, he's one of the hottest free agents in MLB right now. Might even be, you know, nobody's hotter than Shohei Otani, but his impact is going to be more immediate, considering that Otani won't pitch in 2020. Yeah, I mean, he's not going to get the 500 mil that Otani's going to get, but he's going to get a nice little chunk of change. He sure is.

I mean, you have the type of year that he has. had. He's got three no-hitters in his career. He's only 25 years old. 25 years old. And he's just an absolute stud. Stud. Stud. Yep. Well, let's take a look at what his stats were last season in Japan because they are impressive. Is that good? It's very good. That is hashtag good, Jacob. 171 innings pitched 17 and 6 record a 1.16 ERA. Ski-e. Ski-Y. A whip of zero 0.86 and then a strikeout to walk ratio of 176 strikeouts to 28 walks. His delivery is a little funky. It is.

But like, but, but I dig it. Like this can the control, like what you just mentioned is the, the strikeout to walk ratio is pretty insane. Yeah. The control that he has. This is, I mean, this is your top end starter. I wouldn't even bat an eye to say that if you bring in Yoshinoviyamoto, you're probably think about it. He's your number one. Yeah. I mean, it's tough to say on a team with Merrill Kelly and Zach Gallen, but if you get a guy of this stature to join that pitching staff,

you are immediately the best pitching staff in baseball. Three guys that could be number ones and any other team, you are the best pitching staff in baseball. Brin fought as your four. Oh, that's crazy. That's crazy. That would feel good. That would feel good. I know a lot of options that we're talking about aren't nearly as expensive as Yama. MyCost, and now there are a lot of teams that are in the mix. We had this tweet from August that gave us some hope. Can we show, do we have this tweet, Damon? This tweet from August basically said, this is from Michael Marino and MLB.

He said sources. The Mets and Diamondbacks are two teams expected to have strong interest in Japanese starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Should he be posted after the season, which we know now he is? many more expected to be in with a contract exceeding $200 million a strong possibility. It's quite a bit of cheddar. Quite a bit of cheddar. And that's not. You also have to think about the posting fee as well.

Yeah. Because you're not only paying the contract, you're paying the posting fee. Yeah. And the Diamondbacks have consistently ranked in the bottom third of MLB as far as the luxury attack and pay roll and things like that. But you and I talked about this earlier. It almost feels like this could be one of those sneaky things that they do, Kind of like when they signed Granky.

Yeah. Right? Like this one. The Granky sweepstakes, it was, it was Giants or Dodgers, Giants or Dodgers. It wasn't a giant, was a Giants, Giants, Giants, Dodgers. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then all of a sudden it was like, oh, by the way, the diving back signed Zach Granke. Yeah.

And it was like, where did we get $212 million? And I mean, to be fair, Zach Granky, even though, like, for some reason, his time here is remembered, like, he wasn't very good when he was here. But Granky was no bumgarten. Or Zach Granky put up some impressive numbers here in Arizona. It was just. I guess you could say the rest of the team around him, and they still weren't too shabby at all. He was at number one.

He was here. He had one bad year and the rest of his time here, I'm pretty sure he averaged like a 3-3-0 year. Right. Which is, that's number one numbers. But it's like somehow he gets combined in with Madbom, like as if they were just both like colossal failures in minding. That's not true.

It wasn't even close. It wasn't even close to the disaster that Madbom was. Don't think the Grankeet trade turned into Paul Seawalt. So he's not wrong. He's not wrong. Do you guys remember when, uh, Every spring training, we were like, oh, Zach Grink, he's throwing 87 miles per hour. Yeah, he doesn't care.

It's a rat for his career. There's no way. It's over. And they'd come out there and have like a 3-2 ERA and you'd be like, let's walk you. Yeah, he's like, pump in 94 again. And you're like, oh. So it's like a 40 mile per hour, Ephis. I mean, I'll tell you.

Yamamoto does throw a pretty good fastball, mid-90s, 93, 96. He also has a splitter, a curveball, a cutter and a slider. He's your traditional, like, he's your traditional Japanese. pitcher. They have all the tools. Just a huge arsenal. I mean, U. Darvish is the same way. He's got like nine pitches. So the nice thing is you just never know what you're going to get. Like that's the biggest thing that they have going for them

is that they can throw the kitchen sink at you. It's the same thing I love about Merrill Kelly. He can throw the kitchen sink at you. It's so hard to game play on a pitcher that can use any pitch in any count. And that to me is what Yoshinova Yamamoto is. Yeah. Like he can use any pitch. any count. Yeah. And I mean, he was incredible for

the oryx and he's going to potentially be incredible for any team that has interest in him. It would be great if it's us, right? But the Mets do have interest in him and there is a little bit of a problem there because apparently Cody is a guy and he knows him personally. I'm pretty sure who shares, there are a couple of people that share an agent with him, I'm pretty sure. I'm sure there is. And then you also have the Yankees being interested. You have the Dodgers.

You have all the biggest teams in baseball. You have, you know, the boss of Red Sox are interested. You have everybody interested in them. Yeah, Connor, Connor points it out. But the economic windfall and not insignificant investments into the team. That's the thing is that that's. I'm willing to drop $2.50 on a guy like this. I think if, look, if of any of the areas you address you're going to spend money on,

it needs to be the starting pitcher. We've already talked about the options at third base, and I think we might have covered all of the options at third base already, and we haven't even been doing this very long. So it just goes to show there aren't that many out there, and the one that's going to cost the most in Matt Chapman probably isn't worth the money that it's going to take to get Matt Chapman. But meanwhile, starting pitching.

I know that, but I'm just saying, like, starting pitching, I feel like is where you need to spend the money, especially with what we saw this team do. You need a three. You need. I mean, thoughts are good three, but like,

you know what I mean. If you can move everybody down one, then that's also good. Like, it killed them to do that bullpen game in the World Series. Yeah. It just absolutely killed them.

It killed us. It killed us. And I mean, it killed baseball. People were furious, like as if Tori Lavallo had some sort of other option and he just opted to fuck with them

by going with a bullpen game. Like, have you not been paying attention to this team? We literally didn't even have four starting pitchers. And in hindsight, Ryan Nelson looked great in that game. when he came in, but who knows if he would have pitched like that had he started. Now, let's think about the track record of where this team has found success in their signings.

And oftentimes, it is not the flashy sign. It's true. I mean, talking about Merrill Kelly, that was a, like everybody's like, oh, Merrill Kelly is probably a four or five. And now you look at Merrill Kelly. You're like, oh, my God, I could not imagine not having Merrill Kelly on this team. Yeah. He's probably a one on a lot of teams, which is pretty crazy to say, considering most ones, they at least are touching 96 or 97.

And he just does it. He just, I don't know how he does it. He gets soft contact. He locates like a mother. So it's just like it's, Merrill Kelly was such an underrated signing. And this team has found a lot of success in signings like that. So if you're looking for somebody from the Japanese baseball league,

and I'm going to, that's kind of a hint is where I'm going here. There is another under the radar name that is getting posted more than likely, and that's Shoda Immanaga, I think. It doesn't have a phonetic pronunciation on here. Shoda Amanaga. Yes. He plays at Yokohama. And in his career, he's in over a thousand innings pitch got a 296. He's only 30 years old.

He's a left-handed pitcher, so that's – this team has a plethora of right-handed pitching. Yeah. It's always nice to have a lefty that, I mean, Tommy Henry's good. They just added Blake Walston to the 40-man roster so that they could avoid him being drafted in the Rule 5. It's interesting because I feel like so many teams are going to get caught up in the Yoshi sweepstakes that, like, I think Chota might get lost. You know what I mean? And you might be able to swoop in and get a really, really solid three for not as much much. I think the difference there is because Yamamoto has become such a big name now as far as amongst baseball teams.

Like his price is going up. The number of years you're going to have to pay him is going up. And you just don't know what you're going to get out of either of these guys in Major League Baseball. But if you have any concerns, looking at their career numbers is a pretty goddamn good place to start. And when you look at Yoshinobu's career numbers, Jacob, He has a 1.72 ERA in his career in five years of pitching in professional baseball. It says a lot that he was the one that started the World Baseball Classic championship game. Yeah, you're absolutely.

On a team that featured Roki Sasaki, Shohay, and he's who they chose to start. Yeah, you're right. You're right. So I just don't know how feasible it is. And honestly, I think that if you're asking me, you know, and you see these other teams, teams that are connected to him. The Diamondbacks, even though they were one of two teams that were originally interested in him, aren't even in the top ten connected to him now.

So who knows how this is going to play out? But like you said, the Granky deal, we didn't see that coming either. The Diamondbacks kind of swooped in out of nowhere. So maybe they can do that. And it wasn't like it was even announced, like the only announcement before that Granky signing was there's a special third team that like has jumped in at the last second. And it was like, oh. Well, there's no way it's the Diamondbacks, right?

Yeah. Surprise. It was. So, but yeah, I mean, there's a benefit there as well because if the Giants, if the Giants, if the Dodgers, if these other teams are interested in him, there's a competitive advantage to also stealing him away from those guys. It just, it doesn't seem very likely even with the economic windfall and all of this stuff based on the fact that this team still doesn't really like committing large sums of money like this to an unproven. talent. Like, I feel like that's the bigger problem is. But again, that ERA for his career, I don't, I don't call that unproven in a league that is as competitive as major league baseball. Yeah, and you were talking about strikeouts versus walks for, um, for, uh, Yoshi. Yeah. But it's the same, I mean, it's the same way with, uh, Shoda. He, I think he had 188 strikeouts to 24 walks. Well, and that could be, his was even like, the margin was even wider there. And see, that could be such a Mike Hayes and, thing to do to not go after the big gigantic name and then well he might pump up yeah he might pump

that he's going after yoshi but like he's like well i'm pumping this because i want everybody to focus on that like this team is the splashy signing isn't always it like as much as i would like if they get yoshi don't get me wrong i'm going to celebrate with the best of them because that would be insane um but i would not be unhappy if they were to go after shodah let's not forget corbin carroll was not selected the number two overall pick in the draft right he was number 16 so sometimes teams make mistakes and they pass up on guys

Pavon Smith was seventh just keep that in mind oh god okay Corvin was 16 moving on on Yoshi's agent though if for you Jacob he shares it with Stanton right it's Joel Wolfe he's the number three sports agent in the United States

he's got a ton of it Aronado U Darvish Trevor Story John Carlos Stanton And he has Senga as well So he has Darvish Senga and Yama Lodagh More than likely I think he ends up on the Mets Yeah

Because Kodi I'm pretty sure I'm pretty sure I've seen an article Where they talked about Kodai being friends with him Or trying to draw him over to New York The Mets starting rotation next year Doesn't look very good right now as far as That could change real fast I forget the loss of a baller

I didn't agree with what Houston did, didn't think they deserve that World Series. Just like I don't think the Dodgers deserve a 2020 World Series because that was just a Mickey Mouse ring. I don't want to. Well, we're going to. I don't care if you like it or not. This is what we're doing. But Skip Schemaker of the Miami Marlins is your 2023 ML manager of the year. Once again, proving one, that Jeff Passon doesn't miss. And that whole thing with the email that he said he had him in order. It wasn't in order.

He didn't put it out in order, at least for that one category. But also, it's well deserved, right? I mean, of the guys that were there as finalists, I feel like Skip. I'm sure so I don't get fine, Derek. Did the most, I know, I know, but did the most with that Miami Marlins team. Yeah, Sean tweeted this out, our famous Mr. Electric, he tweeted out, like, what are we doing here? Yeah.

Skip, really? I mean, he had the same record as Tori. I know. And one more games two years before. And arguably, like, if it was to go to anybody, like, give it to Craig Counsel and I'll be like, okay, like, yeah, it's a regular season award. But if you're telling me, it's a regular season award and you give it to a guy that had the same amount of wins. Yeah. As Tori Lavello, I'm a little bummed.

That's, yeah, and that does frustrate me as well because I always thought the idea here of they only won 84 wins. They made the playoffs. Did the Marlins lose 100 plus games two seasons ago? Did they rebound that fast from one of the worst seasons in team history? Sure, Tori Lovallo was at the helm of that season, but we all know that that really wasn't on him as much as it was on the roster that he was provided to work with, right?

So again, the fact that they were able to get from where they were at then to where they're at now so quickly. And, you know, for Tori to have done it essentially with a roster comprised mostly of rookies, guys 23 years old, it's crazy. But anyway, let's take a look at the full ballots because the voting was all over the place for this one. And at least, Tori LeVolo, as you can see here, he was just out of third place. Essentially, he was the fourth place finisher. That voting does not look like the rookie of your voting. No, it does not. This is all over the fucking place.

These guys, again, like we said, I mean, there wasn't anybody that really kind of stood out as a manager. And I've even said, Dave Roberts probably deserves to be in the final three with what he did with that Dodgers team, considering everything they lost. They were also a team that did it with some veterans that they picked up. And, you know, again, they were still able to win over 100 games. So, you know, I don't know. Like, you got to give flowers, I guess, to somebody. And this is why Jesse says this is the stupidest award. And he's not wrong about that.

Yeah, it's dumb. It's a dumb award. I just heard of it. Yeah, I get it. Well, we just had to know Tori had a shot. I just needed to see votes for Tori is all I needed to know. But now what I need to do. Some people believed in Tori.
